- 0:04In this episode, we're diving right back in to Virginia
- 0:07Roberts and her response to Glayn Maxwell and her undisputed facts.
- 0:13Defendants Proborted Facts fifty. Miss Roberts intentionally destroyed her journal
- 0:18and dream journal regarding her memories of this case. In
- 0:21twenty thirteen, while represented by counsel, Miss Roberts drafted a
- 0:26journal describing individuals to whom she claimed she was sexually trafficked,
- 0:31as well as her memories and thoughts about her experiences
- 0:34with Epstein. In twenty thirteen, she and her husband created
- 0:38a bonfire in her backyard in Florida and burned the journal,
- 0:41together with other documents in her possession. Miss Roberts also
- 0:45kept a dream journal regarding her thoughts and memories that
- 0:48she possessed in January twenty sixteen. To date, Miss Roberts
- 0:53cannot locate the dream journal miss Roberts's statement controverting defendants facts.
- 0:59The dream journal contained memories of Miss roberts dreams. While
- 1:02Miss Roberts has looked for this journal, which is wholly
- 1:05irrelevant to this case, she has been unable to locate it.
- 1:09Miss Roberts also wrote a personal journal some of her
- 1:12experiences with Maxwell and Epstein, which were harmful and painful,
- 1:15in an effort to relieve herself of those past painful experiences.
- 1:19Miss Roberts followed the advice of a therapist and burned
- 1:23the journal as a form of cathartic release at a
- 1:26time when she was under no obligation to maintain the
- 1:29personal memorialization of personal and painful experiences. See McCaulay declaration
- 1:35at Exhibit five The defendants Purported Facts fifty one. Miss
- 1:41Roberts publicly peddled her story Beginning in twenty eleven. Miss
- 1:45Roberts granted journalist Sharon Churcher extensive interviews that resulted in
- 1:50seven widely distributed articles from March twenty eleven through January
- 1:55twenty fifteen. Churcher regularly communicated with Miss Roberts and her
- 2:00attorneys or other agents. From early twenty eleven to the
- 2:04present day, Miss Roberts received approximately one hundred and sixty
- 2:08thousand dollars for stories and pictures that were published by
- 2:12many news organizations. Miss Robert's statement controverting the defendant's facts.
- 2:18Defendant statement misrepresents history in twenty eleven, Miss Roberts was
- 2:23still in hiding from Epstein and Maxwell in Australia. Miss
- 2:27Roberts was not looking to sell anything or even speak
- 2:30with anyone about what happened in her previous life from
- 2:33which she dramatically escaped. Journalist Saron Churcher located Miss Roberts
- 2:39and impressed the importance of Miss Roberts standing up to
- 2:41those who had harmed her and speak with federal authorities,
- 2:45which Miss Roberts did in twenty eleven. In addition, Churcher
- 2:50impressed the importance of bringing the abuse of defendant and
- 2:53Epstein the public light to prevent their continued abuse of
- 2:57others see McCauley declaration at exhibit thirty five. After much deliberation,
- 3:02Miss Roberts agreed to be interviewed by Churcher and was
- 3:05compensated for sharing her story, which came at a heavy
- 3:08price of being publicly scrutinized. Defendants Purported Facts fifty two.
- 3:14Miss Roberts drafting a one hundred and forty four page
- 3:17purportedly autobiographical book manuscript in twenty eleven, which she actively
- 3:22sought to publish. In twenty eleven, contemporaneous with her Churcher interviews,
- 3:28Miss Roberts drafted a book manuscript which purported to document
- 3:31Miss Roberts's experiences as a teenager in Florida, including her
- 3:35interactions with Epstein and Maxwell. Miss Roberts communicated with literary agents, ghostwriters,
- 3:42and potential independent publishers in an effort to get her
- 3:45book published. She generated marketing materials and circulated those, along
- 3:50with book chapters, to numerous individuals associated with publishing and
- 3:55the media. Miss Robert's statement controverting the defendants facts Dan's
- 4:00characterization of these activities are out of context and thus misleading.
- 4:05In two thousand and eight, Miss Roberts received a victim
- 4:07notification letter from the United States Attorney's Office for the
- 4:10Southern District of Florida Seemacaulay Declaration at Exhibit thirty, regarding
- 4:15her sexual victimization by Epstein. Thereafter, in twenty eleven, she
- 4:20sought psychological counseling from a psychologist for the trauma she endured.
- 4:25Also that year, journalist Sharon Churcher sought her out and
- 4:28traveled halfway around the globe to interviewer on painful subjects.
- 4:33Miss Roberts was interviewed by the FBI in twenty eleven.
- 4:37Seemacauleey declaration at Exhibit thirty one. She was also getting
- 4:41psychological help Seemacaulay declaration at Exhibit thirty eight. In that situation,
- 4:47Miss Roberts began to draft a fictionalized account of what
- 4:50happened to her. It was against this backdrop of trauma
- 4:54being unearthed her steps to seek psychological counseling for it
- 4:58that she drafted this manuscript. Doing so was an active
- 5:01empowerment and a way of reframing and taking control over
- 5:05the narrative of her past abuse that haunts her. Writing

- 5:26act of engaging in autobiography or even accounts loosely based
- 5:31on autobiography, is a process for taking control of one's
- 5:35own narrative and one's own self. Thus, a specific recitation

- 6:10cursory look at the manuscript penned by Miss Roberts informs
- 6:13the reader that she is trying to put forth a
- 6:16more palatable and more empowering narrative to overwrite that powerlessness
- 6:21that she felt while being abused by the defendant and Epstein.
- 6:25While Miss Roberts explored trying the publish her story to
- 6:28empower other individuals who were also subject to abuse, she
- 6:32ultimately decided not to publish it. Siemacaulay Declaration at Exhibit
- 6:37five Defendants Purported Facts fifty three. Miss Roberts publicly filed
- 6:43lurid cvra pleadings, initiated a media frenzy and generated highly
- 6:48publicized litigation between her lawyers and Alan Dershowitz. On December thirtieth,

- 6:58her motion that contained her lo surd allegations about Miss
- 7:01Maxwell and many others, including Alan Dershowitz, Prince Andrew, Jean
- 7:06Luc Brunel, and the Joint. Her motion was followed by
- 7:08a corrected motion and to further declarations in January and
- 7:12February of twenty fifteen, which repeated many of Miss Roberts's claims.
- 7:17These CVR pleadings generated Amdia Malstrom and spawned highly publicized
- 7:22litigation between Miss Roberts lawyers Edwards and Gassell, and Alan Dershowitz.
- 7:28After Miss Roberts publicly alleged mister Dershowitz of sexual misconduct,
- 7:32mister Dershowitz vigorously defended himself in the media. He called
- 7:37Miss Roberts a liar and accused her lawyers of unethical conduct.
- 7:41In response, attorneys Edwards n Gissell sued Dershowitz, who counterclaimed.
- 7:46This litigation in turn caused additional media attention by national
- 7:51and international media organizations. Miss Robert's statement controverting defendants facts
- 7:58see Miss Roberts Paragraph seven Supra explaining why the allegations
- 8:02were necessary and appropriate for multiple reasons. Miss Roberts disputes
- 8:07defendants false characterization of these events and indeed, the media
- 8:11attention was caused by defendant issuing her defamatory press release.
- 8:16Defendants purported Acts number fifty four. Miss Roberts formed nonprofit
- 8:21Victims Refuse Silence to attract publicity and speak out on
- 8:25a public controversy. In twenty fourteen, Miss Roberts, with the
- 8:29assistance of the same council, formed a nonprofit organization, Victims
- 8:34Refuse Silence. According to Miss Roberts, the purpose of the
- 8:38organization is to promote Miss roberts confessed cause against sex slavery.
- 8:44The stated goal of her organization is to help survivors
- 8:47surmount the shame, silence, and intimidation typically experienced by victims
- 8:52of sexual abuse. Miss Roberts attempts to promote Victims Refuse
- 8:57Silence at every opportunity. For example, Miss Roberts participated in
- 9:01an interview in New York with ABC to promote the
- 9:04charity and to get our mission out to the public.
- 9:07You mean the interview that was quashed by your friends, right,
- 9:10that's what you're talking about. Remember that interview with Amy
- 9:12Roebock was quashed Miss Robert's statement controverting the defendant's facts.
- 9:18Miss Roberts did not form the nonprofit Victims to refuse
- 9:21silence to speak out on public controversy, but instead to
- 9:25simply help survivors of sexual abuse and sexual trafficking. In
- 9:29order to provide assistance to victims, Miss Roberts attempted to
- 9:33talk about the nonprofit's mission when she had the opportunity
- 9:36to do so. Miss Robert's Statements of undisputed facts fifty five.
