[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, welcome to M&T and I'm not quite bad.
0:09
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm out of war and that's out of the career now where I have the quote of training camp to grow at you.
0:15
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a team that I picked to win 12 games and I never felt better about it.
0:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see if you can guess who I'm talking about.
0:23
[SPEAKER_01]: This is their offensive coordinator saying that the team needs a hotdog fridge.
0:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Quote, it's something I'm working on here.
0:31
[SPEAKER_01]: How can you really have a break room or snack room if you don't have a hot dog fridge?
0:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're going to have a hot dog fridge, you have to have a high quality hot dog in it.
0:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're going to have high quality hot dogs, you have to have brioche buns and maybe pretzel buns.
0:47
[SPEAKER_01]: These are all things we're working on.
0:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe an industrial size 711 hot dog roller.
0:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
0:53
[SPEAKER_01]: These are just things that roll around in the back of my mind.
0:56
[SPEAKER_01]: it goes on.
0:57
[SPEAKER_01]: One of the things that I learned from going to Disneyland with my kids because I was trying to steam the bun.
1:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I was trying to toast the bun and the guy at Disneyland goes no man, you put it in the bun and then wrap it in foil and let the hot dog steam the bun it's been revolutionary.
1:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Unbelievable.
1:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so did you pick in this team to win 12 games?
1:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is their offensive coordinator talking at training camp yesterday.
1:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I was going to say chargers, but you said kids plural and Mike McDaniel only has one kid.
1:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
1:34
[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't make me damn, it would be that big of a hot dog guy.
1:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not.
1:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, probably not.
1:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Although he would be able to give philosophical about hot dogs that way.
1:42
[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
1:44
[SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say saints, because I think Nussmire can be a little off the wall.
1:51
[SPEAKER_02]: But no, it's not the saints.
1:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Man, that's tough.
1:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Ahhhh.
2:01
[SPEAKER_02]: It would be like Seattle because that's too obvious.
2:04
[SPEAKER_01]: One of my faves, Clayton Adams of the Dallas.
2:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, nice, nice, nice, nice.
2:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Big hot dog guy, apparently hot dog.
2:12
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the kind of energy that I want to go into.
2:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I should have known that, the guy with the offensive line back around that makes total sense.
2:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
2:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I love a good hot dog in the summer, but if it's October, and that thing is still just churning around.
2:26
[SPEAKER_02]: When you get like the moist bun that comes in the tin foil in the
2:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, like, when you're having when you get it at the ballpark and they just have them in that like steamer thing and they're all already in the foil, you know, yeah, and it's like it shouldn't like it doesn't like look like it doesn't look like this should be that big a difference maker, but it actually is I only do it from Costco, they steam them so they have the steam kind of like the steam
2:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know what it is.
2:59
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like an enclosure that steams the bun and then they throw everything together.
3:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I became out on ballpark hotdogs and there was like a big expose on, I forget what team it was because I'm not gonna libel anybody here.
3:15
[SPEAKER_01]: But like you would just unwrap them and they'd be months old, like just caked and like mold and stuff and so I couldn't do the, I can't do a ballpark hotdog.
3:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why that ruined it for me.
3:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Although if I went to like a Diamondbacks game, I would do like the luxury $15 dog with like the bacon and all that stuff.
3:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I can go out like the Darren Reveal thing where he's promoting for the team is whatever their ridiculousness they're putting together.
3:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it works for me, you know what I mean?
3:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know.
3:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like, I always think in my head, it's like, okay, like, it's gonna be a while before I'm here again.
3:49
[SPEAKER_02]: So I wanna get like the classic thing that you would normally get.
3:52
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
3:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
3:54
[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
3:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I was going to a ball game like, if I was going to like a couple of ball games a week then that might be different and then you might mix it up more.
4:02
[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't get to go as much.
4:03
[SPEAKER_02]: So when I do go, I kind of feel like I need to get like the classic things that I would've gotten when I was 12.
4:09
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
4:10
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the move though.
4:11
[SPEAKER_01]: When I'm old you can get those put the the subscription passes.
4:16
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like however many games you could go to for the month of September.
4:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be all about that.
4:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, welcome in.
4:24
[SPEAKER_01]: We have obviously some big news.
4:26
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're trending, if you're looking at the trending page on X Albert number one.
4:31
[SPEAKER_01]: over Dan Cook reveals brother stole $12 million from him.
4:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Number one, sports illustrated spotlights the Texan's defense on the 2026 football preview issue cover.
4:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
4:45
[SPEAKER_01]: We've been teasing it for weeks.
4:46
[SPEAKER_01]: You can get it on new stands now.
4:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Great issue Albert on Drake May in there.
4:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm writing on the Texan's defense tons of stuff from the MMQB team.
4:56
[SPEAKER_01]: So I urge you to go out and pick it up.
5:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it does.
5:01
[SPEAKER_02]: It does.
5:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I really like the picture of them enough.
5:05
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just, you want your defensive players to look like that asses.
5:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
5:10
[SPEAKER_02]: They look like that asses on the cover of that magazine.
5:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Jalen Petri probably the most so in Aziz al-Shair because he's smiling, which is like ominous a little bit.
5:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Which is like, is that guy is he happy or is he crazy?
5:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Like right?
5:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
5:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Before we get into it, I'll tell my quick favorite story about the Texans.
5:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of this is about William or Sim, but it's also about the team as a whole.
5:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was talking to a couple people about Aziz Alshair, and they were like, asking about sweet potatoes.
5:47
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I did.
5:48
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Texans, they are very competitive
5:53
[SPEAKER_01]: their own team and within one another they play basketball, pickable, like they do a lot of stuff together.
5:58
[SPEAKER_01]: But the Texan's training staff has what's called a vegetable score.
6:03
[SPEAKER_01]: And so every player gets rated on how many vegetables they eat throughout the day.
6:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And so Aziz Alshair just eats an industrial amount of sweet potatoes, just eats them all day.
6:15
[SPEAKER_01]: And he basically figured out a way
6:21
[SPEAKER_01]: But then, the other linebacker started coming in and taking his sweet potatoes before he could get to the facility to kind of even the score a little bit in the vegetable score.
6:31
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was great.
6:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I think he said he almost killed E.J.
6:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Speed in the meeting because he took his sweet potatoes.
6:37
[SPEAKER_01]: So, lands are like, that's what you want from your team.
6:42
[SPEAKER_01]: You want them to be competitive in every way.
6:45
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I've stickin' with my Texan Supermolfic.
6:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with a season that too, I'm like, you know what the real hack is is cooking a sweet potato like a baked potato basically oh yeah and taking it and then like you know opening it up the same way you'd open up a baked potato and it gets like so mushy and there and then you throw some butter and some salt there and it's all you need if it goes great with a steak like that's 100% that that that that that's
7:11
[SPEAKER_02]: like that's that's the move right there.
7:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.
7:15
[SPEAKER_01]: So not great news on the Texans front that we'll get to at the end of the news rundown, but I want to start with the big one here Albert, and that's that Vita Via surprise surprise is not going anywhere.
7:27
[SPEAKER_01]: One year, 30 million dollar extension with the box.
7:29
[SPEAKER_01]: This was always going to be the way that it ended.
7:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
7:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
7:38
[SPEAKER_01]: arguably the best of the last eight or nine years now you take out Aaron Donald from that equation obviously but like arguably one of the best interior past wrestlers of the last decade you're you're not letting him go anywhere and and I think it says a lot about the bucks like
7:56
[SPEAKER_01]: they're taking a wait and see a approach, but they're being smart about it.
8:00
[SPEAKER_01]: They're not backloading any of these deals, so they're gonna have to deal with it four or five years down the road, but they're doing what they need to do to at least make 20, 26 competitive.
8:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think it's...
8:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't get that.
8:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Could you try again?
8:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Siri.
8:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha ha.
8:19
[SPEAKER_02]: The side buttons on my phone, like the side buttons on my phone are kind of messed up where I hit them and then it doesn't always work.
8:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's because of the case.
8:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
8:28
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my problem.
8:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, no, I mean, I did the books kind of had to do this, and I'll never, I will never criticize a player in that situation where you don't know how many more pay days are coming when you're viewed as age you've been in the league as long as he has, you know, you're well aware of the fact that's.
8:50
[SPEAKER_02]: You're well aware of the fact that like when it's, you know, a year or two years, three years from now, whenever that time comes, they're going to be very quick to ask you to come and ask you to take a pay cut or get ready to you.
9:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And so you got to get it when you can.
9:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I also think like the, if you look at what they did here, it looks pretty similar to what the Bengals did with Dexter Lawrence when they bottom in, it's sort of a revision on the deal,
9:21
[SPEAKER_02]: It's good on everybody now.
9:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I think the interesting thing is now that leaves Baker Mayfield out there and this is another point of proof that the Buccaneers are more than willing to do business during training camp, which Luke Kadecki is I am a column,
9:41
[SPEAKER_02]: So this would indicate that like if we get past the third preseason game, you get to the cut down your sort of finalizing things for the season, you know, it shouldn't surprise anybody if the box take one more swing a baker may feel.
9:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Now that's said, this doesn't really help.
9:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Because Baker's not doing this type of deal, you know, it's like a totally different type of deal that he wants.
10:03
[SPEAKER_02]: So he already said he doesn't want something short term.
10:06
[SPEAKER_02]: And he wants to know that he's going to be there over a longer period of time.
10:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And so just by definition, you know, when he's that close to free agency, I don't think he's going to be looking to do any sort of band-aid deal.
10:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's the that's still the one where I think they uh what that does for you at least is it takes stall words on both sides of the ball and puts a good taste in at least one person's mouth and it's just up to Baker may feel to kind of suck it up and move on and I think Baker almost did himself a disservice like you said by saying that he was going to close up shop at the beginning of training camp and now the fact that the buck and ears are showing that they're
10:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it only helps the team from an optics point of view because, you know, you can still get a day.
10:54
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're not, but I think that's what part of that.
10:57
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's why Baker did what you did.
10:59
[SPEAKER_02]: That's why he fired the warning shock because he knew that that's the way the box have done business the last few years.
11:05
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
11:06
[SPEAKER_02]: And he wanted to get it done before the start of training.
11:08
[SPEAKER_02]: He maybe wanted his money taken care of before he started playing football.
11:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And so he set what, you know, was an artificial deadline, the deadline passed.
11:17
[SPEAKER_02]: and now we'll see if he holds the move that way.
11:20
[SPEAKER_02]: That's really up to him.
11:21
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I still, I still find it hard to believe that if they came to him with something that if they made the decision to come to him with something that is closer to what he wants, he wouldn't talk.
11:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, because again, like he moved his family there, like he, he's really rude himself and Tampa now, like so I think he doesn't want to stay there, um, but you know, I also know he can be stubborn.
11:47
[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see.
11:49
[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think of the bucks this year?
11:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Like what, what is your, there's so hard to pin down right now.
11:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I really are, I mean, that one that division four years in a row, the suitable the year before that,
12:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Last year, they came really close to winning a fifth year in a row.
12:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they've done that's a well-conceived roster still.
12:08
[SPEAKER_02]: The offensive line group is still really good.
12:11
[SPEAKER_02]: They've still got some horses up front on defense, and there's always a good basis.
12:16
[SPEAKER_02]: If you've got that, then there's a real chance that you're going to be in every game.
12:21
[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's a good starting point.
12:24
[SPEAKER_02]: How does Baker play?
12:26
[SPEAKER_02]: How does America a book would come along?
12:30
[SPEAKER_02]: How do they manage the the departure of my heavens was Chris Godwin look like does I McCollum take another step there's there's just a lot of a lot of questions, you know, and that doesn't it's not a bad thing doesn't mean they can't win 10 or 11 games It's just they've gotten older in some spots and I think really like you know they've got a bunch of pretty good young players, you know now can those young players become the core of their team
12:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Terry and Arnold is on the commissioners exempt list and the situation with Seattle, all of a sudden, becomes
13:06
[SPEAKER_01]: a little bit murky.
13:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Can they get out of this at some point?
13:13
[SPEAKER_01]: What are you understanding in terms of that?
13:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I think it's like going on here.
13:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I haven't been able to kind of like drill down.
13:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, because obviously, like anybody read the details, it sounds horrible.
13:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
13:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And why would anyone sign of, you know what I mean in this circumstance?
13:27
[SPEAKER_02]: But then seven or eight teams line up to have men for visits, which would indicate that there's something else to put.
13:37
[SPEAKER_02]: what I can, what I feel comfortable saying right now, I would say, I've been told by multiple teams.
13:43
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not quite what you think.
13:45
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and so then why do the lines move on in a position where they're, you know, they're not in a great spot.
13:52
[SPEAKER_02]: That's another question.
13:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really murky situation and, you know, I think,
13:58
[SPEAKER_02]: We've talked a lot about this corner over the last few years.
14:01
[SPEAKER_02]: This is sort of what the commissioners exemplist is for.
14:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
14:04
[SPEAKER_02]: So every time the lines are on TV, we're not talking about someone getting kidnapped and like beaten.
14:10
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
14:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's just, I think it's it's it's murky enough and there are enough questions about it where there's gray area and some teams see an opportunity to sign a guy who's got a chance to be a really good player.
14:22
[SPEAKER_02]: But on the flip side, there's enough smoke where the league doesn't want to be part, it to be a major part of the beginning of their 20s, 20s, 16s.
14:35
[SPEAKER_01]: the the whole thing by the way captured on hard knocks.
14:39
[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's wild.
14:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you could look at John Schneider on a walking treadmill like a desk treadmill, which by the way, I have a comment on that in a second, but you know, sealing the deal with Terry and Arnold, but the issue becomes, you know,
14:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Were they under the impression at the time that this would be the situation?
15:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Because they've now signed trevindigs too.
15:06
[SPEAKER_01]: And so are they almost signaling, okay, well, we got our other corner back.
15:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we thought this guy would be available to us in some way, shape or form.
15:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I mean, it's sort of where they are to, you know, they, they pay whether spoon, they've got Josh Job there, who's on a modest contract, and then they lose to recoil, and they drafted Julie and Neil, being more than anything else is sort of backstopping yourself for all of this.
15:31
[SPEAKER_02]: So you got Trayvon Diggs now, and I think the Arnold thing is sort of up in the air, and we'll see what happens with it.
15:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I, it's, I add a respect to the people that were on the other end of it.
15:51
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to say, oh, he's going to be cleared in three weeks.
15:54
[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, like it's, I think there's still a lot of that story to unfold.
16:01
[SPEAKER_01]: The, um, the Seahawks thing just makes me laugh.
16:03
[SPEAKER_01]: John Schneider on the walking desk because it's, so I urge you to go watch it.
16:09
[SPEAKER_01]: So I haven't seen it yet.
16:11
[SPEAKER_01]: He's on a walking desk.
16:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and I mean, he has the treadmill underneath him.
16:16
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a standing desk.
16:17
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the treadmill underneath the standing desk.
16:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
16:20
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's got an iPad in front of him.
16:24
[SPEAKER_01]: He's got documents displayed out on his desk.
16:27
[SPEAKER_01]: He's looking at the iPad while simultaneously controlling the, um, the huddle remote for a big film screen on a big screen television.
16:38
[SPEAKER_01]: And I guess like that's what you would imagine a general manager's world to look like.
16:44
[SPEAKER_01]: But like how do you focus on all that stuff?
16:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's got a lack of a way.
16:48
[SPEAKER_02]: I always always thought about that because we would hear when when I was first a beat writer all the way back in the dark ages and like, oh five and oh six.
16:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Like Bella check actually did read everything and what would happen is people who don't know he had a right hand man in bears right there right and so like bears the story was that bears in the morning would give a stack with all the clips.
17:14
[SPEAKER_02]: and he would just get on the treadmill and at like an incline and just walk and read every single thing written about the teen for that day and that would be sort of his workout.
17:26
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so look, these guys days are tightly wound.
17:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I think for GM's like this time of year is an underrated really busy time of year.
17:34
[SPEAKER_02]: You and I talked about that the fall in the other day.
17:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I have no idea how they keep track of all of this now.
17:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
17:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Like not only like evaluating their own rosters and who's going to make it and who's going to not and who's going to be paid and who you know who might be looking at trading and then on top of that like the bottom of everybody else's roster.
17:55
[SPEAKER_02]: So you can throw in that one waiver claim where the guy might become your third corner for five games this year.
18:00
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
18:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Like they're managing so much this time of year.
18:04
[SPEAKER_02]: So it totally makes sense that they would be multitasking like that.
18:11
[SPEAKER_01]: football is finally back and you know what that means.
18:14
[SPEAKER_01]: It's time to start putting some action on these games.
18:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I've been checking out my bookie and what I like is how easy it is to find something you want to bet on and get your picks in whether you're watching from home, out with friends, or you just have a little bit of downtime just before kick off.
18:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't have to be some kind of betting expert either.
18:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Find a game you like, find a play that you feel good about
18:38
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're new to my bookie, there's a pretty good reason to give it a shot right now.
18:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Their betback bonus gives you protection on your first wager.
18:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Sign up with my promo code.
18:49
[SPEAKER_01]: MMQB opt in to the betback bonus.
18:53
[SPEAKER_01]: And if that first wager loses, you get your money right back.
18:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Football is back.
18:57
[SPEAKER_01]: So now's the time to get in on the action.
19:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Head over to my bookie, use promo code.
19:08
[SPEAKER_01]: that on anything, any time, anywhere.
19:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I've definitely had a different relationship with money at different points in my life.
19:17
[SPEAKER_01]: When I was younger, I really didn't think too much about where every dollar was going.
19:22
[SPEAKER_01]: As I got older though, I realized being more intentional with your money gives you a lot more freedom and it takes stress off of your plate.
19:30
[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the reasons I like money.
19:32
[SPEAKER_01]: It gives me a really clear picture
19:37
[SPEAKER_01]: what I'm spending, what I'm saving, what I'm investing and what my goals are, so I don't have to piece everything together across a bunch of different apps.
19:47
[SPEAKER_01]: One thing I really like is being able to actually set goals and see whether I'm tracking to hit them.
19:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of just looking backwards at what I spent, Monarch helps me look ahead, figure out where my money needs to go.
20:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And the AI assistant is another feature that's really useful.
20:03
[SPEAKER_01]: You can literally ask it questions about your finances.
20:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Like how much you spent on something last year, whether you can afford a big purchase without dipping into your savings, all sorts of stuff.
20:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Write your own money story with Monarch using code mmqbatmonarch.com to get your first year of Monarch Core, half off at just 50 bucks.
20:26
[SPEAKER_01]: That's 50% off your first year at monark.com code mmqb.
20:33
[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing that came out of camp is actually two more things.
20:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to throw surprise at you in the rundown.
20:37
[SPEAKER_01]: But Jaden Higgins, this one, the injury in Houston is just heartbreaking.
20:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
20:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you saw him down there in camp.
20:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I saw him down there in camp.
20:47
[SPEAKER_01]: He,
20:48
[SPEAKER_01]: suffered a torn ACL yesterday.
20:50
[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, in that joint practice at the Raiders, a lot of discussion about whether, you know, like, I think we've reached maybe the tipping point with joint practices and a lot of fights this year, a lot of kind of injury.
21:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe guys act in a little bit like they, you know, it's not exactly constructive, but, you know, that's just a bucket.
21:09
[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I think it's going to remain, especially with
21:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're more valuable than preseason games for most of these teams.
21:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I just do, I think it's, you can generate situations that you want to see the players and you can protect certain players, like if you've got a guy who's coming off of something, you can throw a red jersey on him and he can still get meaningful reps in a more controlled environment where he's not going to get hit.
21:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I just think there's great.
21:37
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a reason why all these coaches are having their players play in those and not in the preseason games.
21:46
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, um, now I think what you are seeing, it'll be interesting.
21:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to page rates eagles today and
21:53
[SPEAKER_02]: That'll be interesting because it's the second day, and a lot of teams have stopped doing the second day because that's when the fights happen because So-and-so was in the film room the night before and someone lit them up and there was a And the film room and now that guy is coming back to get even the next day
22:12
[SPEAKER_02]: right you know what I mean like so or someone said something to someone and it just stuck with that person that night you know what I mean the next morning they wake up and it's like yeah other fucker here I come you know what I mean hey
22:28
[SPEAKER_02]: But that's the problem with the second day, you know what I mean, like so, and it's just an interesting dynamic because I think like what a lot of coaches have found as a second day, it's where you usually find the fights, you know, but it'll like I think there's I think there's really, really good value in them.
22:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I think most coaches would say do away with the preseason games, but we know why that'll never happen.
22:52
[SPEAKER_02]: So.
22:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Jaden Higgins, I mean, everything, the arrow was pointing up on this guy in camp, and it was such an excellent, excellent.
23:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I know, and we're talking about the kind of the rebuilding of this Texan's offense.
23:05
[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I would not have picked them as my Super Bowl team if I didn't think that there wouldn't be significant strides made on the offensive side of the ball.
23:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think a big part of that was just how good he looked in camp and how much of a, you know,
23:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Daily safety blanket, he was providing his throughout.
23:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you watch, like, you know, there's these practice clips where he's hauling down balls on like Derek Stingley.
23:31
[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he's practicing day and a day out of gets the best corner backs and football and he's making plays.
23:36
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what makes his heart breaking.
23:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it was actually like the way it was described to me.
23:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I thought this was kind of a cool way to put it in the end of the spring was if this goes the way we think it is it's almost going to be like we have a power forward and a small forward out there right and that like Nico Collins is the power forward the bigger and more physical.
23:58
[SPEAKER_02]: But both these guys are six four you know what I mean, so the bigger more physical guy on one side that can kind of muscle you.
24:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And then the smoother route runner, like a little bit of like a, you know, I'd say of like a more linear build and Jaden Higgins opposite him, you know, and that was going to be really, really difficult for defenses to deal with.
24:17
[SPEAKER_02]: The good news is they do have some depth there, you know, so Jalen Noel, same draft class same school as Higgins, he's more of a slot so he doesn't really replace him, you know, you've got tanked out, we'll see what they get back from him.
24:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, I like what the Texans have, ever seever even without Higgins, but I was, it sucks.
24:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it was like that was one of the,
24:43
[SPEAKER_02]: That was, that was one element of this year that I was really looking forward to seeing was what all that looked like with with the two sort of twin towers or seabers out there.
24:56
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a tough spot for Nick Casario to be in right now because there was that last sort of there was that last scramble for teams to pick up the remaining free agent wide receivers.
25:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
25:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Stefan Diggs is gone.
25:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Keenan Allen is off the table.
25:12
[SPEAKER_01]: He's an Indianapolis.
25:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're kind of in the Brandon cooks business at this point.
25:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, I mean, are you better off?
25:21
[SPEAKER_02]: like hoping Tankdale comes along.
25:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Xavier Hutchinson, somebody's been relatively reliable for them.
25:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Louis Bond is actually interesting.
25:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I have one of the Texas Defense Supporters bring up, bring his name up to me as somebody that they were impressed with.
25:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they've got a huge depth issue.
25:43
[SPEAKER_02]: And I wonder if you're better off just giving the other guys some opportunities than bringing in a retread from somewhere else, you know?
25:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Houston as long as they're healthier at the tight end position, I think that they'll be okay offensively.
25:58
[SPEAKER_01]: It obviously sucks to lose the guy that you expect to probably be your number two wide receiver this year.
26:03
[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that having a solid line up of 12 personnel for them,
26:09
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we'll negate a lot of the issues there and it's not like that second-wide receiver is an unimportant, but at least it makes it a little bit less important with what the Texans I think are trying to do offensively.
26:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Mass but not least, Albert.
26:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I got a little fired up about this, and I wrote about this last night, and then we're going to get into your final stops on the training camp tour.
26:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Roger Gudell said to Marcus Coon, who, by the way, I used to cover as a defensive tackle for the New York Giants.
26:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Marcus is now working for a German television station.
26:42
[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to get the quote right, because I don't want to miss quote the commissioner.
26:48
[SPEAKER_01]: He said, I have no doubt.
26:51
[SPEAKER_01]: that's the quote, that there will be NFL teams, teams located overseas at some point in time.
27:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's beyond false.
27:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm curious what your take is on the NFL one day, having a franchise on the other side of the pond.
27:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Or, so a couple of things, you know, Brenna, whatever.
27:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so there are a couple of things on this, like I think the first thing is that this has been a goal that is for a long time, so when they watch the international series in 2007, the hope was they would have a team in Europe and in London specifically within 15 years that was the goal, obviously they missed the mark on that, so why did they miss the mark, they missed the mark because the logistics.
27:40
[SPEAKER_02]: and it's not about planning out like okay how does this work like how do we how can we saw it week four versus week eight I think they believe that they could probably make the regular season work.
27:53
[SPEAKER_02]: The issue was what happens when you get into one-off situations and the playoffs.
27:57
[SPEAKER_02]: where Seattle is playing at London in the wild card round.
28:00
[SPEAKER_02]: And what's sort of competitive inequity does that create?
28:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And then I think there's also little things that no one's going to dig no fan thinks about.
28:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Like you have two guards go down in a game.
28:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And now on Tuesday you want to work out five free agent guards.
28:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
28:17
[SPEAKER_02]: How do you do that?
28:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's difficult, you know?
28:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's logistical things that like just make it.
28:24
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it would be hard to pull off now.
28:27
[SPEAKER_02]: That said, they did start to work on stuff like that.
28:33
[SPEAKER_02]: And one thing that I know, I don't know how much this has been out there, but there was a point where the Falcons were looking at building a new facility closer to downtown.
28:42
[SPEAKER_02]: If you've ever been to Atlanta, Atlanta's practice facility, the Falcons practice facility is an hour north of Atlanta.
28:49
[SPEAKER_02]: So the idea was that the league could come in and buy the flowery branch facility.
28:56
[SPEAKER_02]: And then the Falcons would build a new facility closer to downtown and then flowery branch would become the US headquarters of the London team and then what they would do is like the operations football operations would more or less run out of Atlanta and so when you need to bring in guys for work out that sort of stuff you're in a place where everyone can fly direct to right then fly direct to London from there so they've they've given it that much thought
29:25
[SPEAKER_02]: you know what I mean, where the idea of doing these things is there, I think actually pulling it off would be, I mean, I think it would take advances in air travel quite frankly, so like I think that's sort of what would what would what would what would what would need to happen and then here's the other piece.
29:44
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think this is the most important piece.
29:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so if you're going to create expansion teams, you're going to go to 3436 teams, the threshold has to be that.
29:58
[SPEAKER_02]: you're gonna grow the pie to use Jerry Jones's word to a point where 134th or 136th of that pie is bigger than 132nd.
30:16
[SPEAKER_02]: In other words, you need to grow the pie to the point where you can cut it two or four more ways.
30:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
30:21
[SPEAKER_02]: And wind up with a bigger piece.
30:23
[SPEAKER_02]: So what does that mean?
30:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Like going overseas with teams is going to need to lead to exponential financial growth period.
30:33
[SPEAKER_01]: So here's what I wrote on this.
30:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's not going to happen for a couple of reasons.
30:39
[SPEAKER_01]: One is a little bit conspiratorial for me.
30:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're looking at all these teams, Buffalo, Cleveland, Chicago.
30:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, any team who's had an outdoor stadium built between 1925 and 2002 is getting a new domed stadium.
30:58
[SPEAKER_01]: And what we've seen is an in a built like Chicago is is negotiating with Indiana against Illinois.
31:07
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where we're at.
31:08
[SPEAKER_01]: There's really outside of San Antonio Albert.
31:12
[SPEAKER_01]: No real expansion threat.
31:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Now that the league has pulled the trigger and moved to Los Angeles and has put two teams in Los Angeles.
31:20
[SPEAKER_01]: You could say San Antonio because it's I think it's the largest American city without an NFL team.
31:27
[SPEAKER_01]: you could say maybe San Diego and St. Louis are options because you'd be going back to a place that has had an NFL franchise.
31:35
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the allure of a place like London at least makes talking about this.
31:43
[SPEAKER_01]: little bit more interesting when these teams are going to state legislators and local politicians and trying to get money to renovate their stadiums.
31:51
[SPEAKER_01]: One team in particular that's doing that at the end of the season, least expiring in January of 2027 is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Albert and their owners also are the majority stakeholders in what?
32:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Manchester United.
32:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you know, and Tampa Bay is also building the raise a new stadium.
32:10
[SPEAKER_01]: So are they just like, you know what, I'm going to start going over there and see what that looks like, just to say that you could say it.
32:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
32:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, is that better than is is that a better quicker and more lethal way to get what you want out of your current locale than what the bears are doing right now, which just seems insane to me.
32:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, LA obviously was a stocking horse forever, you know, so, I mean, losing LA, I mean, how many teams threaten to move to LA?
32:41
[SPEAKER_02]: The Vikings did, the Raiders did, the Rams did and went, the Chargers did and went.
32:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I think did the Saints at one, no, that's wrong, because the Saints have to train and never threaten to leave.
32:55
[SPEAKER_02]: But there were a lot of teams that threatened to go to LA.
32:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
33:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I mean, having that out there, I think definitely would make some sense for them and for their purposes.
33:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, I think having that out there is not horrible for them.
33:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Another thing is that, and I'm giving the NFL.
33:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Because you want those things like L.A. too, like where it's like, all right, like we'll use this as a threat for 10 years, and then we'll actually go.
33:22
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
33:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and here's why I don't think they're actually going to go.
33:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Right, but I think, you know what the other part of that is though, too.
33:29
[SPEAKER_02]: The other part of that is like for people who followed the L.A. thing, they weren't going to go back there until it was absolutely right.
33:36
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
33:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Like because they didn't want to screw it up again.
33:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
33:39
[SPEAKER_02]: And this is one thing I will give Jerry Jones credit for it.
33:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And he was like a visionary with was he insisted on the Rams project.
33:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
33:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Because he said, you can't just build like some run in the middle stadium in that city.
33:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Like it has to be spectacular.
33:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It has to host super bowls.
33:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It has to be the biggest stage.
33:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And there has to be an owner there who has the financial wherewithal to invest in the market.
34:05
[SPEAKER_02]: And so he wanted to stay in Kronki to go, because staying Kronki is one of the wealthiest owners in the league, because he'd be able to invest back in the market, he'd be able to build that palace that would create this, you know, because what he didn't want, and I think Jerry was right to think this way, is like the L.A. would get bored with the team.
34:22
[SPEAKER_02]: And then in 2025 years, you'd be where the Rams and Raiders were in the mid-90s.
34:28
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the approach my point is I think the approach we similar with on this, if we're going to go, we need to make sure we get everything right.
34:38
[SPEAKER_01]: The other part of this too is that, and I'll give the NFL credit for this, Gidel has very seldom weighted into uncharted waters, and I think what's interesting right now is that the WMBAs and process of expanding to 18 teams, the MLS, I looked this up for the column that I wrote, added a team a year on average between 2005 and 2025.
35:04
[SPEAKER_01]: That's wild, the NHL is now on an expansion kick.
35:10
[SPEAKER_01]: The NBA is exploring an expansion kick.
35:13
[SPEAKER_01]: So, and I'm not saying it has to be an expansion team, but the other part of this is that I think that there's no way the NFL puts a team in a foreign country that's not Canada.
35:27
[SPEAKER_01]: without letting another league try and mess it up first.
35:31
[SPEAKER_01]: So be like Vegas.
35:33
[SPEAKER_01]: It would be like, exactly like Vegas.
35:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
35:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Because it made me Vegas with Thorny, right?
35:37
[SPEAKER_02]: And then the NHL went and worked in the NFL, but the writers go.
35:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Said perfect.
35:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's do it.
35:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's the other part of it.
35:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that we're gonna see some, you know, do all these MLS franchises survive?
35:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
35:52
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, do all of these WMBA franchises survive and I think, but that is like how much of that is motivated just by the feet by the expansion fee.
36:02
[SPEAKER_02]: that the owners want to have more cash coming in to support their own operations.
36:08
[SPEAKER_02]: So what do you hear about like Vegas and Seattle, like as expansion cities in the NBA isn't like 8 billion or something like that, the expansion fees incredible, like what's going to charge those, those owners to buy teams, you know, and then what happens to that money?
36:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's,
36:24
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's liquid for those guys.
36:27
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
36:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, those other 30 owners in the NBA are suddenly just going to come into, and I don't know, do the math.
36:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Where is that 250 million apiece?
36:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Just for letting them in, you know, first couple, that'd be a half billion dollars a piece.
36:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Just by saying, like, yeah, you two can come in.
36:47
[SPEAKER_01]: My thought then is, you know, the NFL is just gonna, they're gonna be like, you guys try to expand.
36:53
[SPEAKER_01]: you guys try team in London.
36:55
[SPEAKER_01]: And then if it works great, like we'll do what we do, which is just you know, come and see over.
37:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll just see, you know, Watson there like Vince McMahon and be like, okay, and I'm going to go and sit down.
37:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's in there like it was our idea in the first place.
37:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
37:10
[SPEAKER_01]: But what's funny about it is I think that some of these owners are like there there's dealing with a foreign country on a basis of that you're hosting one special thing there a year versus dealing with a foreign country on a day to day basis and I think what happens really is bad and much different right.
37:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what happens when the team is bad, you know what I mean?
37:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And like, like the fact is, like that team is going to be playing in the States to have its game in the States.
37:42
[SPEAKER_02]: So if that team is playing half of its game in the States, if you don't have a full division over there, what time are those games?
37:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Are they on?
37:49
[SPEAKER_02]: overnight, is that team like exempt from ever playing on a Sunday night or a Monday night, like our Thursday night, like, you know, you would have to kind of carve out a bunch of things to make it work.
38:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And again, like, that's why, that's why I say, like, you got to show the owners that it's going to be worth it a while financially.
38:08
[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be worth the trouble of doing it, you know, versus
38:13
[SPEAKER_02]: where they're going right now, which is like just having 16, I think within a few years it's going to be 16 games overseas every year on in different countries allows you to grow in different places and every team has one international game per year.
38:29
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the other thing, man.
38:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Like let's say the London whatever you want to call them are playing at unsundated football.
38:37
[SPEAKER_00]: It's 130
38:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, here's my prediction is that if the tailwind of the Olympics launches a legitimately competitive flag football league, maybe that's where the NFL tries it out, and it's like, okay, put a team in London, I don't care, you know, and then that would give me a flag team, see if people actually get into it, I don't know, do something like that, but don't try to trick me on this, get all I don't believe you.
39:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Moving on to Albert's camp tour, we got a couple really interesting spots to talk about.
39:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Cleveland, we kind of got into it a little bit Albert, but now that the quarterback competition has taken a different step, I'm wondering if anything kind of stands out to you based on, you know, if we could take another bite of that apple, because here's what it looks like to me.
39:37
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Sean Watson's is starting quarterback.
39:40
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think Todd Monkid said something about not wanting a lot of his starters to play,
39:45
[SPEAKER_01]: And no next preseason game, but that's the game that shoulder a center.
39:48
[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be quarterbacking.
39:50
[SPEAKER_01]: So, well, sorry, but do you think that he's kind of locked this thing down?
39:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think he's done enough to lock this thing?
39:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's, I think it's closing in on being over.
40:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like I think the Sean Watts is going to be the starting quarterback of the Browns.
40:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think it's as much as anything.
40:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think it's like the Sean wowing them.
40:10
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's the Sean is the better answer for right now.
40:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the Sean gives them a better chance to be competitive in the here now.
40:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that they see some great future which should do our ordowing Gabriel for that matter.
40:23
[SPEAKER_02]: That's like compelling them to be like, yeah, we need to see a full season of this guy.
40:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, remember, he's a fifth round pick, you know?
40:29
[SPEAKER_02]: This would be like the stealer saying, like, we need to see Will Howard, you know what I mean?
40:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's the equivalent.
40:36
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, I think the idea is, if you, if you're not sure,
40:47
[SPEAKER_02]: then you just go go with the best answer for right now.
40:50
[SPEAKER_02]: The best answer for right now is the Sean Watson.
40:53
[SPEAKER_02]: I, you know, what I try to do and I think I told you this earlier in the week, I tried to, you know, dive in with people that, um, dive in with people that played against these guys and so, um, you know, I went to some of the bear's people and I mean more or less what I got back from them was to Sean's clearly the best option they have right now and the other two guys,
41:16
[SPEAKER_02]: you know what I mean like so I just think this is pretty cut and dry and I think Todd Monk can feel like he owes it to his team like who can be the most functional in my offense who can give the other 10 guys in the Huddle does chance and I think right now that's Watson
41:34
[SPEAKER_01]: He would so interesting about him is that the stuff that I feel like he'd be the best at, and you can't take this all away from one preseason game, but the stuff that I think he'd be the best at,
41:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe it's the scheme, I don't know what it is, but like there are times when his eyes just aren't in the right place still and he's just still like not pulling the trigger on open players and that's the part to me, like if you have a guy in your 30s, like that's the advantage is like, you know, he can read the defense that he can get rid of the ball, but I don't know, I mean, I was bullish on Watson with munken, yep.
42:16
[SPEAKER_01]: just based on what Munkin did with the Marjax and in kind of streamlined that whole approach and I thought made that offense a little bit more approachable for LeBar, but I don't know.
42:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm having a hard time, I'm cringing a little bit looking at my 100-volt predictions from the beginning of the season and seeing lots and is a comeback player that you're a candidate.
42:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know.
42:38
[SPEAKER_02]: So all right, let's see what else we got here Albert you've been all over God's I can go rapid fire go through the four give you a thought from the four and then you can pick my brain I don't know if you want after that's go all right, so I'd be other for that I've seen recently Buffalo You know I went out on the bills
42:55
[SPEAKER_02]: is I think it's going to look pretty different under Joe Brady.
42:59
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I've compared this to Sean Payton becoming a head coach in 2006.
43:06
[SPEAKER_02]: He, of course, is Joe Brady's mentor.
43:09
[SPEAKER_02]: And again, this isn't a shot at like, you know, Matt Rool or Sean McDermott or anybody else.
43:14
[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm like, I...
43:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I know when Sean Peyton became a head coach in 06.
43:21
[SPEAKER_02]: There was a segment of football people were like, no, this guy's really smart.
43:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And this guy's better than you think.
43:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And he'd coach under par cells and Dallas, and he'd coach under Jim Fossle in New York.
43:32
[SPEAKER_02]: And like, it was the point where,
43:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Bill Parcell is calling them Dennis the Manus because he had all these crazy ideas, right?
43:40
[SPEAKER_02]: And so, then we saw it.
43:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Then, you know, six, it was like, whoa, like he gets through a breeze and, you know, and then there are top five offense for 15 years, basically.
43:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think like to some degree you could see that with Joe Brady now being out on his own and again it's nothing against anybody he's coached for it's just there's a different feel for an offensive coach when you don't have to check with your boss when you don't you're not operating within the parameters of his game plan and
44:11
[SPEAKER_02]: you can kind of play out a larger vision for football that you have.
44:16
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's going to be interesting to see what Joe Brady does with that.
44:19
[SPEAKER_02]: And I also think it's sort of a tell his defensive coordinator higher.
44:23
[SPEAKER_02]: What would you say about Jim Leonard?
44:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Probably he's probably in pretty be pretty aggressive.
44:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, cacking and I think it's sort of reflects what you're going to see from Brady on offense.
44:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Pittsburgh, I, I think the one underrated thing about Pittsburgh is the make up of the staff early matches the roster and we've talked about that, Connor, right?
44:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
44:44
[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't go with the young coach that they've gone historically and
44:48
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I, I think it's interesting when you look at the defense and what Pat Graham is going to be able to do with Cam Hayward and TJ Watt of front and Patrick Queen and Peyton Wilson in the middle and Jalen Ramsey and to shine Elliot in the back end, you know, and then offensively you've got these veteran receivers that are working with Aaron Rogers within Mike McCarthy's offense and DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman.
45:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Pat, fire moves of a veteran, rego daddles of a veteran, and there's a ton of risk and going all in with older guys this way.
45:18
[SPEAKER_02]: The whole thing could come on, done the team could wear down.
45:21
[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to practice when you've got an older team, all of that stuff.
45:24
[SPEAKER_02]: But you can also, when you've got a team that's made up that way, leverage everything that's in the bag, right?
45:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Like you leverage everything that's in Mike McCarthy's bag, you can leverage everything that's in Patrick Graham's bag, and so I think that they're going to be interesting from that perspective.
45:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Jacksonville is fascinating because you categorize them with, you know, teams that took a big step for last year, New England, Chicago, right?
45:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And does Trevor Lawrence have another gear?
45:55
[SPEAKER_02]: As Trevor Lawrence about to become what we saw he was going to become.
45:59
[SPEAKER_02]: And I, I think it's just interesting talking to people there who really they felt like he had been through a lot
46:10
[SPEAKER_02]: four years in the league, and so then Liam Cohen and his staff get a hold of him, and a lot of it was about simplifying everything.
46:17
[SPEAKER_02]: How do we make the offense work for Trevor Lawrence?
46:20
[SPEAKER_02]: How do we strip it down so he's playing faster?
46:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Can we give him the green light to run more?
46:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And they really thought he came on late in the year when they started to let him play a little bit more.
46:35
[SPEAKER_02]: like he had when he was a younger player.
46:38
[SPEAKER_02]: And so how do they build on that?
46:40
[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to be interesting.
46:41
[SPEAKER_02]: And then Washington, and you know, I guess we always drill down on the quarterback.
46:44
[SPEAKER_02]: So this will be another one.
46:46
[SPEAKER_02]: But Jaden Daniels playing for David Blau who was on the staff the last two years, but it's completely changing the system.
46:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's going to be running the Ben Johnson system or a version of that.
46:56
[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be putting, he's going to be putting Jaden Daniels
47:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, keepers play passes like they really want to highlight James football IQ by giving a more command and they want to highlight him as a pastor and James very aware of what running did to him last year.
47:18
[SPEAKER_02]: And so he's using this to kind of process okay how do I balance that better so I'm not going to the blue medical 10 anymore, you know, so I think that that's what makes them interesting so that'd be one thing for me to those five teams and that's 21 and I'm going to see team 22 and 23 today.
47:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Man, oh man, how you hold up.
47:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I'm tired.
47:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I think I told I'll share the airport story with your real quick.
47:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, this is great.
47:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Albert.
47:46
[SPEAKER_01]: So we were talking very briefly yesterday and setting up something very exciting for next week, which we'll tell you guys about at a later time.
48:06
[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, so I wanted to get back from my kids football practice yesterday.
48:11
[SPEAKER_02]: So I was looking at flights back from Washington.
48:15
[SPEAKER_02]: The commanders were practicing the eighth, 30 in the morning.
48:17
[SPEAKER_02]: All of it was doable.
48:19
[SPEAKER_02]: The commanders' facility for people who don't know is right by Delos International Airport, which is actually pretty far from Washington DC.
48:27
[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably, I don't know, 35 minutes without traffic, 35, 40 minutes without traffic.
48:33
[SPEAKER_02]: So I go online to book and I see a 115 flight on United to ID, which is Dallas.
48:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, great.
48:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Just double check on a couple of things come back, do the search again, and I see, oh, there's a Jet Blue flight at 130, like that'll buy me an extra 15 minutes and I'm sitting down when people would ever that a little bit of time could be valuable.
48:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Good, I book it.
48:59
[SPEAKER_02]: So then I use every last minute that I can at the Commander's facility.
49:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I hustle to the rental car facility.
49:08
[SPEAKER_02]: It's close enough at this point to my one, my 125 takeoff time that I throw the Hertz bus driver $10 to leave immediately.
49:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, instead of waiting for whatever it would be 10 minutes for other passengers, he takes me.
49:25
[SPEAKER_02]: He drops me off.
49:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I go straight to pre-check.
49:28
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have a bag to check or anything like that.
49:31
[SPEAKER_02]: At this point, probably 12, 40, 12, 45.
49:37
[SPEAKER_02]: So about 40, 45 minutes to take off and the planes about to start boarding.
49:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Go right to pre-check.
49:44
[SPEAKER_02]: They run my license, it doesn't work.
49:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I've never had this happen before.
49:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, how's my license not working?
49:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And I go see my, my okay, like here, I'll show you my boarding pass.
49:54
[SPEAKER_02]: And the guy looks at me and he goes, you're flying on a DCA.
49:59
[SPEAKER_02]: And then, the couple people who are in line behind me says, like, oh, yeah, you're not the first to mix up the airports in this area.
50:06
[SPEAKER_02]: And I said, and I said to them, oh, okay, where's the jet blue desk?
50:09
[SPEAKER_02]: The jet blue doesn't fly out of here.
50:11
[SPEAKER_02]: So not only in my now at the wrong airport, I'm at the wrong airport, and there's not an airline.
50:16
[SPEAKER_02]: There's not a desk for the airline I'm flying.
50:18
[SPEAKER_02]: There's no jet blue at Dallas.
50:21
[SPEAKER_02]: So I call this blue.
50:25
[SPEAKER_02]: And I get the lady on the phone and she's like, there's a five, there's a two 25 to Boston out of her.
50:30
[SPEAKER_02]: They were like nothing out of Baltimore.
50:32
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a two 25 to Boston a five o'clock to Boston out of Reagan and she's like, but you've already checked in.
50:40
[SPEAKER_02]: So can you please cancel your check in?
50:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I go to cancel my check in, but they're already boarding.
50:45
[SPEAKER_02]: So I can't cancel my.
50:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, so.
50:50
[SPEAKER_02]: she's like, all right, well, let me try to do this for you.
50:52
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm like, all right, I'm going to just get in an Uber and go because I just want it.
50:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I need to get to Reagan.
50:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
50:58
[SPEAKER_02]: So I get in the Uber and I ask the Uber driver, I'm like, do you think there's any way possible?
51:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I can make a 225 at this point is probably 105 something like that.
51:08
[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, I promise I'll get you there on time for that.
51:11
[SPEAKER_02]: So it took the whole Uber ride from Dallas to Reagan, which thankfully there's no traffic, which is a miracle in DC.
51:19
[SPEAKER_02]: It was about a 40 minute drive.
51:20
[SPEAKER_02]: It took the whole ride for me to work out the ticket situation.
51:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I get on the plane.
51:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I got home.
51:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I made it to all the 15 minutes of football practice, but yeah, I went to the wrong airport yesterday.
51:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I did that once.
51:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I was driving my sister who lives in England to the airport and we were pulling up to Newark.
51:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, what are you doing?
51:45
[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, what do you mean what am I doing?
51:47
[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, my flights out of JFK.
51:53
[SPEAKER_01]: It is the all-time travel night.
51:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Could you feel like such a moron?
51:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, because I'm not going to blame someone that lives in another country.
52:02
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't know that I'm driving to Newark Airport.
52:04
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't know that like we're in Newark.
52:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and all time travel deliner.
52:10
[SPEAKER_01]: And what sucks is like, I did a lot of travel obviously to Houston this summer for the story.
52:16
[SPEAKER_01]: There's two airports in Houston.
52:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Hobby and Bosia.
52:20
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you go to LA.
52:21
[SPEAKER_01]: There's like three, you know, there's like Orange County, LAX Long Beach, LAX.
52:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Burbank.
52:28
[SPEAKER_02]: per bank yeah i mean so then there's all that and then if you're not paying attention when you're booking this stuff like especially some right so my problem was i didn't my problem was i didn't i booked full i my search was for wash all all airports wash in dc not dollar specifically which i should wipe that was my mistake
52:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the first time I searched.
52:51
[SPEAKER_02]: I did search for Dallas specifically because I knew it was right next to the facility and then the second time I did like the broader search by mistake.
53:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm I think this is something otherwise shout out to the Uber driver to the nice lady in JetBlue which is the first like phone customer service experience had had this positive in a long time and the Hertz bus driver who hustled me over.
53:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Hell yes, thank you for getting Albert back to us in a timely manner planes trains in automobiles I think this is another episode, but I do want to dig into and maybe we'll do this next week where you mentioned Jaden Daniels doing so much of this work on her center
53:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Peros doing so much of his work under center for random windows is doing so much of his work under center.
53:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Dak Prescott's doing so much of and it's such a it's such a big talk there's a shift going back.
53:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, major shift.
53:46
[SPEAKER_02]: That's too big a topic for right now, but that is it is 100% Yeah, I there's a all of it swinging back now.
53:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah
53:56
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm wondering if the NFL is ready for all this defensively.
54:01
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we're gonna find out maybe that's their big answer to a lot of the defensive kind of counter advantages that we've seen.
54:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, we're gonna get Albert off to a little R and R. Just kidding, he's gonna be going to like nine more camps.
54:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Albert and I will be at a camp together.
54:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, next week's a stay tuned, stay subscribe, check out the YouTube channel for some potential very exciting live MMQD podcast act.
