- 0:01Speaker 1: Alright, coming to you live from Altamonte Springs, Florida. This
- 0:04Speaker 1: is the Ember Show. Your host, Ember. First and foremost,
- 0:07Speaker 1: let's get into prayer. Lord Father that art in heaven,
- 0:10Speaker 1: I come to you in prayer to be able to
- 0:12Speaker 1: have the Holy Spirit be able to speak through this
- 0:14Speaker 1: mic and go through the listeners' ears and be able
- 0:16Speaker 1: to reach their hearts and minds and be able to
- 0:18Speaker 1: apply these verses to their lives. In the Lord Jesus
- 0:22Speaker 1: Christ's name I pray. Amen. And I say that, and
- 0:26Speaker 1: we're going to be in Mark chapter 7. In prayer,
- 0:29Speaker 1: because that's what this Bible study is all about, is
- 0:32Speaker 1: breaking down these verses and being able to apply them
- 0:36Speaker 1: to not only your lives, but mine as well. But
- 0:40Speaker 1: I say the prayer for you. And I highly encourage
- 0:44Speaker 1: you to grab your Bibles or get on your Bible
- 0:46Speaker 1: app and read along as you hear along. Mark chapter
- 0:50Speaker 1: 7 is going to be titled starting out as Jesus
- 0:53Speaker 1: warns some Jewish leaders about their teachings. And verse 1 states,
- 0:59Speaker 1: a group of Pharisees and some teachers of God's law
- 1:03Speaker 1: came from Jerusalem to talk with Jesus. They had been
- 1:07Speaker 1: watching Jesus' disciples. Some of the disciples did not wash
- 1:11Speaker 1: their hands before they ate a meal. That is to say,
- 1:15Speaker 1: they did not wash them in the right way. Isn't
- 1:20Speaker 1: it interesting how people criticize you, how they do something
- 1:25Speaker 1: their particular way and you don't? And as we get
- 1:30Speaker 1: more into verse 3, it's being aware that there's always
- 1:37Speaker 1: somebody watching. And going about your journey as if when
- 1:45Speaker 1: there's nobody watching, you almost realize that you have to
- 1:52Speaker 1: remind yourself Even to psych yourself out sometimes as someone
- 1:56Speaker 1: always is. So just do the right thing as much
- 1:59Speaker 1: as possible. We're not perfect though, right? So verse 3.
- 2:02Speaker 1: The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat food
- 2:05Speaker 1: until they have washed their hands carefully. They do this
- 2:09Speaker 1: because of what their leaders taught them. So this is
- 2:12Speaker 1: what they were taught. How to wash their hands a
- 2:15Speaker 1: certain way. And because Jesus' disciples didn't wash their hands,
- 2:20Speaker 1: it's like, They did though, but they just didn't do
- 2:24Speaker 1: it correctly. You know? And people criticized. So verse 4,
- 2:30Speaker 1: when they come from the marketplace, they always wash themselves carefully.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Unless they do this, they do not eat anything. Their
- 2:39Speaker 1: leaders also gave them rules about how they should wash cups, pots,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and metal bowls. The Pharisees and the teachers of God's
- 2:50Speaker 1: law said to Jesus, Your disciples do not obey the
- 2:54Speaker 1: things that our leaders taught many years ago. Your disciples
- 2:58Speaker 1: have not washed their hands in the right way. They
- 3:01Speaker 1: are eating their food with uncleaned hands. That is not right.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Jesus said to them, you are hypocrites. What God's prophet
- 3:13Speaker 1: Isaiah wrote about you long ago is true. God says,
- 3:17Speaker 1: these people say good things about me. But they do
- 3:21Speaker 1: not really want to obey me. They say that I
- 3:25Speaker 1: am great, but what they say has no purpose. They
- 3:29Speaker 1: teach their own rules, which I did not give to them.
- 3:37Speaker 1: These few verses are very interesting. Realizing that Jesus is
- 3:45Speaker 1: calling them out as hypocrites. For they do not obey God,
- 3:56Speaker 1: but they make it seem like they do. And you
- 4:00Speaker 1: may know somebody like that. I'm not talking in a
- 4:03Speaker 1: spiritual way, but you might know somebody that criticizes people
- 4:10Speaker 1: a lot because they don't do it their way. And
- 4:12Speaker 1: I dealt with somebody like that, and that was my father.
- 4:15Speaker 1: So I really resonate with this. Verse 8, Jesus then said,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you have stopped obeying God. Instead, you obey the ideas
- 4:32Speaker 1: that men teach. Now, Jesus was talking about what the teachers,
- 4:40Speaker 1: their old teachers taught them, right? For example, Moses wrote,
- 4:45Speaker 1: you must love your father and your mother. You must
- 4:48Speaker 1: obey them. Moses also said a person should die. if
- 4:52Speaker 1: he insults his father or his mother. But you teach
- 4:55Speaker 1: that a person may say to his father or to
- 5:00Speaker 1: his mother, I would have given gifts to help you,
- 5:03Speaker 1: but I cannot do that, because I have given them
- 5:07Speaker 1: to God instead. If he says that you let him
- 5:12Speaker 1: refuse to help his father and his mother, this shows
- 5:15Speaker 1: that you have not obeyed what God says is right.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Instead... Hold on one second. So getting back into it,
- 5:34Speaker 2: it's very where we leave off at.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Moses also said a person should die if he insults
- 5:42Speaker 1: his father or mother. If he says that you let
- 5:45Speaker 1: him refuse to help his mother, this shows that you
- 5:49Speaker 1: have not obeyed what God says. You have not obeyed
- 5:54Speaker 1: what God says is right. Instead, you have obeyed the
- 5:57Speaker 1: ideas that you received from leaders many years ago. And
- 6:02Speaker 1: you do many other things like that. So they're also
- 6:05Speaker 1: making up their own rules, right? How to go about it.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And it almost is how when we're upbringing with our family,
- 6:16Speaker 1: we do as we see. And growing up, you start
- 6:21Speaker 1: to realize that there's a lot of things that you
- 6:24Speaker 1: still do that was taught to you. So you have
- 6:27Speaker 1: to be untaught. the bad things, right? Because not every
- 6:31Speaker 1: family is perfect. No family is actually. So Jesus explains
- 6:35Speaker 1: what makes people unclean. Verse 14, and we'll close out
- 6:38Speaker 1: on 15. Jesus asked the crowd of people to come
- 6:42Speaker 1: to him again. He said to them, listen to me,
- 6:45Speaker 1: all of you, so that you can understand these things.
- 6:49Speaker 1: People do not become unclean because of things that go
- 6:53Speaker 1: into their bodies from outside. They become unclean because of
- 6:57Speaker 1: the things that come out from inside them. Isn't this interesting, right?
- 7:08Speaker 1: That we all consume so much negativity, whether it's social media,
- 7:13Speaker 1: whether it's, and I'm going to continue to go a
- 7:15Speaker 1: little deeper. So we'll go to like verse 18. It's
- 7:20Speaker 1: very interesting how unclean people Try to tell people they're unclean.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I'm going to go deeper though. Hold on one second.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Jesus left the crowd of people and he went into
- 7:32Speaker 1: a house. Then his disciples asked him to explain what
- 7:39Speaker 1: he had taught. Jesus said, I am surprised that you,
- 7:42Speaker 1: my disciples, do not understand what I am saying. You
- 7:46Speaker 1: should understand that food will not make people unclean. Food
- 7:50Speaker 1: goes into people's bodies from the outside. But the food
- 7:53Speaker 1: does not go into people's minds. It goes into their
- 7:57Speaker 1: stomachs and then it passes out their body. Jesus is
- 8:01Speaker 1: explaining here that the food that he is referring to
- 8:10Speaker 1: is the way of life. And the disciples didn't understand
- 8:19Speaker 1: what Jesus was teaching. We all consume food. Things that
- 8:24Speaker 1: aren't good for us. But we enjoy them. The flesh.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Is weak. The spirit is willing. And I know it's
- 8:32Speaker 1: reverse sometimes. But. I. Completely. Do not judge anybody. That.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Has a problem with whether it's eating. Whether it's. There's.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Mental issues or. There's some sort of addiction. Because I
- 8:56Speaker 1: have been there. And I've also been bullied. And I
- 9:00Speaker 1: know how it feels to be. Hurt by people's words. And.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Working on that as well as. When I'm hurt to
- 9:10Speaker 1: not hurt people. Is something that I'm still working on.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I don't come on this podcast to. To make you
- 9:18Speaker 1: feel condemned. That's not up to me. I'm just the messenger.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I'm just here to. Relay these verses in the best
- 9:25Speaker 1: way that I can by allowing the Holy Spirit to
- 9:27Speaker 1: do so. Whether you believe that is the case, that
- 9:32Speaker 1: is up to you. I don't spend time on what
- 9:38Speaker 1: people believe and think so much nowadays. Because it's not
- 9:43Speaker 1: my responsibility, one. Two, I don't want to have to
- 9:47Speaker 1: feel like I hold people accountable to what they tell me.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Because anybody can tell you anything, and I can sit
- 9:54Speaker 1: here and say that I'm the President of the United States.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Does that mean that I am the President of the
- 9:59Speaker 1: United States? Of course not. Words without actions. We all
- 10:04Speaker 1: know the saying, right? And if you don't, faith without
- 10:09Speaker 1: works is dead. Just because you talk a good game,
- 10:13Speaker 1: you've got to play the game too. And you also
- 10:17Speaker 1: have to glorify God. How do you do that? By
- 10:21Speaker 1: following the one he sent, his only son. Plenty of
- 10:25Speaker 1: angels in heaven he could have sent, but no, he
- 10:27Speaker 1: sent his son because he knew that his son could
- 10:30Speaker 1: get the job done. He knew his assignment. So what
- 10:38Speaker 1: is your assignment? Do you feel like you don't have
- 10:41Speaker 1: a purpose? Seek God's kingdom and everything that you desire
- 10:46Speaker 1: will be added to you that aligns with God's will.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And we all want to prosper. Well, most of us do, right?
- 10:55Speaker 1: A lot of us are stuck in our addictions. And
- 10:59Speaker 1: the thing about being stuck in addiction, you can put
- 11:02Speaker 1: the drink down. You can put the drug down. You
- 11:04Speaker 1: can put the food down. You can put all these
- 11:06Speaker 1: things down. But if you don't change the way you think,
- 11:11Speaker 1: nothing's going to change. You're just going to continue to
- 11:15Speaker 1: consume what you are consuming into your body to surpass...
- 11:20Speaker 1: the emotions and the guilt and the reflection of where
- 11:26Speaker 1: you're really at in life. And when we're talking about
- 11:29Speaker 1: the walk with Jesus Christ, I have three minutes. I
- 11:32Speaker 1: want to make this clear that it is not for
- 11:34Speaker 1: the weak-hearted. You will not get a parade after you
- 11:40Speaker 1: get baptized and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
- 11:44Speaker 1: You will not be popular But what you will be
- 11:50Speaker 1: is a part of the kingdom of heaven. On earth.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You are a part of what's being done on and
- 12:04Speaker 1: in earth. Growing up. We all have that invitation to
- 12:11Speaker 1: do more for the kingdom of God. And it's not
- 12:14Speaker 1: what you think it is. It's not, oh, I go
- 12:15Speaker 1: to church. I do this. I do that. I do this.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I do that. You've been taught wrong. It's having the
- 12:21Speaker 1: relationship with Jesus. Allowing the Holy Spirit to really take over.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Not when it's just bad, but when it's good as well.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Being able to carry that spirit. Being able to help others.
- 12:36Speaker 1: And get gratification from helping others. Because you know that
- 12:41Speaker 1: you are helping God's people. You can even help devil's people.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Turn into God's people. Just by. Sharing your faith. Sharing
- 12:54Speaker 1: your testimony. But you have to be willing to share.
- 12:57Speaker 1: You have to face that fear. In order to get
- 13:01Speaker 1: over fear. You have to face it. You have to
- 13:05Speaker 1: climb over it. So. With two minutes less. I just
- 13:13Speaker 1: want to be. In a state of gratitude. For the
- 13:17Speaker 1: people that are in my life. No matter how difficult
- 13:20Speaker 1: times may get. I always continue. To have loyalty for
- 13:25Speaker 1: the right people. And whether. They know it or not.
- 13:35Speaker 1: The more and more that I'm loyal and loving. So
- 13:38Speaker 1: is God to them. And the best is yet to come.
- 13:41Speaker 1: This is the Ember Show. Your host Ember. I hope
- 13:45Speaker 1: that you have had a great day. A great afternoon.
- 13:48Speaker 1: A great evening. Depending on what time you listen to
- 13:51Speaker 1: this episode. You can find me on Facebook. Mark Belcher.

- 13:58Speaker 1: all types of social network. Media platforms. So. I hope that.
- 14:05Speaker 1: This was able to bring you some. Enlightenment. Some education.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And some encouragement as well. I just want. Everybody to
- 14:17Speaker 1: experience God's love. And I can't force it. God can't
- 14:22Speaker 1: force it. Jesus can't force it. And that's what makes
- 14:25Speaker 1: it true love. Because it's not forced. And it is unconditional.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And once you have that tapped in, and you are
- 14:33Speaker 1: tapped in to that source, you give it out accordingly
- 14:38Speaker 1: to God's will. Love thy enemies as well. Doesn't mean
- 14:43Speaker 1: you have to like them. But you have to love them.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You don't have to like them. There's a big difference
- 14:48Speaker 1: between like and love now. So remember that. God is love.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Love is God. Time is love. Love is time. Thank
- 14:57Speaker 1: you for pressing play. This is the Ember Show. Peace.
