- 0:07On Monday, October 8, 1962, the San Francisco Giants faced the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium
- 0:13for Game 4 of the 1962 World Series.
- 0:16The Yankees led the series two games to one, and for Game 4, the Giants would send 24-year-old Juan Marichal to the mound.
- 0:23This was Marichal's first start since they clinched the National League pennant against the Dodgers in the final game of the regular season.
- 0:28Whitey Ford, who was the winning pitcher in Game 1 of the series, would start for the Yankees.
- 0:32This audio recording is from the NBC Radio broadcast featuring announcers George Kell and Joe Gargiola.
- 1:02The Yankees have a big conversation this afternoon.
- 1:10Philippe Ballou, who did such a magnificent job in the on field for the Giants, doesn't seem to be too worried about him,
- 1:17but he'll have shadows to contend with all afternoon.
- 1:20In fact, talking to Philippe before the ball game, he explained it best when he said,
- 1:25Well, yesterday I played the first game in Yankee Stadium left field. I had more trouble one game in left field in Yankee Stadium
- 1:33than all season in right field in candlestick part.
- 1:37But he made some defensive plays, and the one error that he was charged with was certainly a tough one to the extent that it took the high hop the ball did,
- 1:45and Tom Trescher would stop the second base with some daring base running, took off the third, and set up what proved to be the beginning for the Yankees.
- 1:53And the fourth game, the World Series is coming up, and George, I can't think of a more exciting way to get ready for a fourth game
- 2:01than with the great pitching that we've had along the line.
- 2:04Well, Joe, we've had tremendous pitching, and we're looking forward to another great pitchers battle here today,
- 2:09as the right hander and the left hander are getting ready to go at it.
- 2:13Right, George, the umpire is around home, played along with coach Wadde Lockman and manager Ralph Hough of the New York Yankees.
- 2:20Wadde Ford continues to warm up Wadde with a 10-4 World Series record, 17-8 on the season.
- 2:27Juan Marichal pumping slow curve ball to his catcher Ed Bailey, 18-11 on the season.
- 2:33This is his first World Series start.
- 2:35The lineups for the San Francisco Giants, leading off will be Harvey Keane in right field.
- 2:41Keane, K-U-E-N-N, Keane in right field.
- 2:45Batting second will be the second baseman Chuck Hiller, Hiller, second base.
- 2:50Batting third, it's the center fielder Willie Mays, Mays, center field.
- 2:54In the cleanup spot, it's the left fielder Philippe Alou, A-L-O-U, Alou in left field.
- 3:01Batting fifth, it's the first baseman Orlando Sopeta, Sopeta, first base.
- 3:05Batting sixth, the third baseman Jim Davenport, Davenport, third base.
- 3:11Batting seventh, it's the catcher Tom Haller, H-A-L-L-E-R, Haller, the catcher.
- 3:18And batting eighth, it's Jose Pagán the shortstop. Pagán, shortstop.
- 3:22Batting ninth, the pitcher Juan Marichal.
- 3:28And for the New York Yankees, leading off it'll be the shortstop Tony Kubrick, Kubrick, the shortstop.
- 3:34Batting second, the second baseman Bobby Richardson, Richardson, second base.
- 3:40Batting third, the left fielder Tom Tresch, Tresch in left field.
- 3:44Batting fourth, the center fielder Mickey Mell, Mell in center field.
- 3:49Batting fifth, the right fielder Roger Maris, Maris in right field.
- 3:54Batting sixth, the catcher Alston Howard, Howard the catcher.
- 3:59Batting seventh, the first baseman Moose Scowron, Scowron at first base.
- 4:05Batting eighth, it's Cleep Boyer, Boyer at third base.
- 4:09And batting ninth, it's the pitcher Whitey Ford.
- 4:13This is WGY Schenectady.
- 4:15Bob Feller, Hall of Famer is the right of the Yankee dugout and he will throw out the first ball this afternoon.
- 4:23Yesterday it was Jota Mascio and today it's Bob Feller.
- 4:26Alston Howard waits and Bob Feller throws a strike which of course is not uncommon for him.
- 4:31Bob Feller, the Hall of Famer, just shakes hands with Alston Howard who gives him the baseball.
- 4:38And it's officially on. Yesterday Jota Mascio, today Bob Feller.
- 4:43George Kell, I know that you had a couple of times a fad at Bob Feller.
- 4:48Boy don't remind me of it. He's as tough as they come and the way he threw that pitch out to Howard, I think he can still throw a fast one.
- 4:56Looks like he's in great shape, doesn't he?
- 4:57Oh, he stays in great shape. You know when he pitched Joe, he worked on the bars and the bells and ran a lot.
- 5:03He was a great one for conditioning and he's still doing it evidently.
- 5:07A couple of changes in the Giants lineup. Harvey Keane is in against the left-hander and playing in right field today.
- 5:13Tom Holler is the catcher and Alu has moved from the leadoff spot and he's batting in the cleanup position today.
- 5:23Taking a little time before we get ready to go here as the band in center field moves off the field.
- 5:29George, we mentioned it when he went out to his position but a little coaching change. I just wondered if Alvin Dart might be a bit superstitious.
- 5:37Usually West Westam coaches at the first base today, it's Larry Janssen.
- 5:41Right, Joe. I just noticed that. It could be that he wants Westam in the bullpen maybe to work with some pitchers.
- 5:47It could be, as you said, maybe a little superstitious there.
- 5:51But whatever the reason, a new coach at first base today, it'll be Larry Janssen at first base for the Giants.
- 5:58And Whitey Lachman of course will be back at his third base position.
- 6:02So Whitey Ford who had completed his warm-up tosses is just standing on the mound right now looking into straight away center field as the ground crews are moving the chairs.
- 6:13And we'll be ready to go here in just a couple of moments.
- 6:16Well, we're ready. Harvey Keane steps in to lead off for the Giants. Harvey is looking for his first hit in this World Series.
- 6:24He played in the first game against Whitey Ford and he was over five.
- 6:28So it'll be Keane, Hiller and Mays for the Giants here in the first inning.
- 6:37In the Morris Ball game played right here at Yankee Stadium, it'll be Ralph Terry pitching for New York.
- 6:42And Billy O'Dell, a left-hander, will be doing the pitching for the Giants.
- 6:47Terry pits the second game of the World Series and Billy O'Dell was the starting pitcher in the first game
- 6:53of our manager Alvin Darn.
- 6:55Well, Harvey had stepped in and Whitey was ready to go. Whitey is very anxious out there, but the ground crew moves out once again
- 7:03and they're still taking a little time as they get things out of the way in center field.
- 7:08Joe, that's got to make you feel pretty good if you're a hitter. It's 461 feet out there and if you're a little bit worried about you hitting one in there,
- 7:14that's got to make you feel like you can really flex your muscles.
- 7:17Joe, they can leave that gate open and let me hit his second base. I couldn't get one in there.
- 7:21Two of us.
- 7:23Well, we're ready. Whitey goes into the wind-up and here's the first pitch of the ball game. It's a strike, a fast ball in around the D's.
- 7:32The Yankees will play Keene straight away, not too deep in the outfield. Everybody back on the infield, but Boyer, he's in a couple of steps.
- 7:40Here's the one strike, bitch. A curve ball, it's down low. Harvey checks his swing and down. One ball, one strike.
- 7:49A beautiful baseball afternoon here in New York. Bright, sunshiney, blue skies up above. Here's a fly ball hit the left field.
- 7:57Tommy Trish is drifting back a few steps, waiting. He's got it and there's one away. Harvey Keene goes out on a fly out of Trish and left field.
- 8:07That'll bring up the second baseman, Chuck Hiller. Chuck's a left-handed batter.
- 8:14He has two hits and ten trips in the series for a 200 batting average.
- 8:21Showers have been forecast for this area today, but we couldn't have had better weather if we'd ordered it this way.
- 8:27Here's a bouncing foul behind the plate. One strike to Hiller.
- 8:34We're in the top of the first inning. There's one out with no one on.
- 8:38Whitey Ford against Juan Marachal here today in the fourth game of the series.
- 8:44Whitey into the wind-up. The pitch to Hiller. Strike, he got a fast ball over the inside corner. A strike two count.
- 8:52Jim Honechick of the American League is the umpire behind the plate today. Al Barlich at first base, Charlie Berry at second base.
- 9:00Stan Landis, the umpire at third base. Here's a pitch, a ground ball that is fouled on the first baseline.
- 9:07Still two strikes to Hiller. In the outfield, it's Hank Soar of the American League down the left field line,
- 9:13and Ken Burkhart of the National League down the right field line.
- 9:23Whitey Ford looking in. Here's the pitch to Hiller. He swings in the lines and right straight to Q-Back.
- 9:32Chuck Hiller lined one straight to the shortstop, Tony Kubeck. All these two outs and the batter is Willie Mayes.
- 9:42A round of applause for Willie as he steps in.
- 9:47Willie's had four hits and 12 trips in the series. He has a 3-33 batting average.
- 9:53Ford delivers. Ball, it's down low. Three of Willie's four hits coming against Whitey in the first game of the series.
- 10:01Whitey looking in. Here's the one and no pitch. He swings and bounces at the third.
- 10:10Boy, you're as it. The throw to first base, he's out.
- 10:14Mayes goes out third to first. No runs, no hits, no errors, no one left.
- 10:18And the score at the end of the first half, the first inning. The giant's nothing with the Yankees coming to bat.
- 10:23Harvey Keene is back in the lineup today, and the other day in the clubhouse, he really had Russ Hodges going. Let's listen.
- 10:29Hey, Harvey, I thought I just saw you lather up. You finished shaving already?
- 10:33Sure, Russ. I used a Gillette Super Blue Blade. You get the job done quick and easy. Clean too. Just look at that.
- 10:41Now about that shaving comfort, Harvey. Super Blues made by an exclusive Gillette process are so keen, so mirror-smooth, they whisk through the toughest beard as if it wasn't even there.
- 10:51You feel clean, refreshed, and you look at two. For the tops and easy shavings, try Super Blues in the streamlined, new Gillette Slim adjustable razor with a precision dial.
- 11:02One of nine different blade settings is just right for you. Now you get both the Slim and Super Blue Blades, plus a 79-sift can of Gillette's homey instant lather for only $1.95 as a Gillette World Series Special.
- 11:17This is a $2.29 value, so you save $0.34. Well, no score in the ballgame as we go into the bottom of the first inning, and the Giants going out 1-2-3 against the slants of Whitey Ford.
- 11:31It'll be Tony Kubeck leading off for the Yankees. He'll be followed by Bob Richardson, then Tom Trash.
- 11:39Juan Mara-Shaw, big right-hander doing the pitching for the Giants today. Mara-Shaw won 18 and lost 11 during the regular season.
- 11:49He came up with an ankle injury towards the latter part of the season, portioned amidst a couple turns, but he was a big starter for manager Alvin Darkin at the final playoff game and came up with quite a pitching performance.
- 12:01He had to get some help, but he's been a tremendous pitcher for him all year, George, and he gives you a lot of motion out there. He's got all the pitches, a good fastball, good curveball, and occasionally screwball, and he really pumps.
- 12:14Well, he's ready to go here against Tony Kubeck. Tony with a 2-31 batting average. He's had three hits and 13 trips. The first pitch is down low. One ball and no strikes.
- 12:26Kubeck a left-handed batter. Giants play him in a step or so on the infield. In fact, having ported third base is about three steps in front of the bag.
- 12:38Here's the pitch. Outside, a fastball just off the corner. Ball two and no strikes.
- 12:47No score. We're in the bottom of the first inning in case you joined us late. Giants went out in order.
- 12:53Here's the 2-and-no pitch. Ball, it's outside. 3-and-no to Kubeck. Tony was taking all the way on that one. Juan delivered it outside.
- 13:05Tom Allen, out talking to the young pitcher and one like me just saying, don't aim that ball. He hasn't really turned one loose yet. He's been really bearing down and trying to throw a strike and kind of aiming the ball and falling behind.
- 13:18Kubeck waiting on Marichal. Here's the 3-and-no pitch. Strike, he got a fastball in around the D's. A ball three and a strike one count.
- 13:27Lead-off man for the Yankees here in the first inning. Tony right down on the end of the bat. Marichal taking a little time. Here's the 3-and-one pitch.
- 13:39Strike two. He plays another one in there. Tony was taking it. So it's 3-and-2. Bobby Richardson waiting in the on-deck circle.
- 13:53Marichal checks the sign. Goes into the big sweeping wind-up. Here's the 3-2 pitch. Outside. He walked in. Kubeck draws a face-on ball. Starts the game for the Yankees.
- 14:08Bring up Bobby Richardson, the second baseman. Bobby has one hit in 13th grip, adding average of 0-7-7. Right-handed batter.
- 14:22Sopeta will hold against the runner at first base and Davenport, the third baseman, will play about even with the bag for Bobby.
- 14:29You can get a pretty good jump on Marichal because he kicks that leg way up there.
- 14:34I think you'll find in this series the Yankees will not do a lot of running unless it really means something.
- 14:41Here's the pitch. Strike a fastball in around the knees. Richardson was ready to but pull the bat back. One strike count.
- 14:53The Yankees can run, but they are not a running ball club.
- 14:58Marichal gets ready. Now he steps off, left Tony back to first base.
- 15:07Bobby Richardson waiting. Here's a quick throw to first. Back into him.
- 15:19Now Richardson steps out as he gets tired of waiting on Marichal.
- 15:22Standing in now with a one strike count. One gets set.
- 15:31Here's the pitch to Bobby. Strike two. He got the slider over. A strike two count.
- 15:37Svallo takes a big sweep as he throws the ball to the plate, throws his left leg high into the air, which much bother the hitters a little bit.
- 15:52Comes to a set position. Here's the pitch. Sidearm curve, it's down low. One ball, two strikes.
- 15:59As Joe told you, he was throwing a lot of sidearm pitches while warming up. This is the first one he's delivered in the ballgame.
- 16:07It's really an effort for him to come sidearm because he comes so directly overhanded with most of his pitches.
- 16:13One gets set. Here's the one, two pitch. Inside a fastball that was just off the corner. A ball, two and a strike two count.
- 16:23Marichal looking into Hanichik. Thought that one cut the corner. Bobby Richardson checking with Crossetti at third base.
- 16:32He just wants to know if the runner at first is going to be moving.
- 16:39And if Kubeck is going, of course Bobby will be swinging at anything that's close to the plate.
- 16:45Here's the two, two pitch. Outside a curve breaking away. Three and two to Bobby Richardson.
- 16:52No score, we're in the bottom of the first inning. Yankees have a runner at first with no one out.
- 17:00Marichal gets set. Here's the pitch. He swings and misses. Here's the throw. Kubeck is headed back to first, but he's in a run down.
- 17:08Zepeda chasing him back to second. Here's Hillar making the throw to the pitcher and he's going to be tagged out.
- 17:20Bobby Richardson struck out on the three, two pitch. Kubeck saw that he was trapped and he tried to get back to first and he's tagged out.
- 17:29Kubeck, when he saw Zepeda just standing there, kind of brouched up against him, hoping that the umpires would call interference,
- 17:39but both Barry and Barnick said no so fine throw by Tom Haller. They're heading by a nine mile.
- 17:44A real good throw, Joe. He had no chance. Here's Tom Trash, the left fielder.
- 17:49Tom has four hits and 12 trips in this series for a 333 batting average.
- 17:54Marichal delivers a curve and it's in there. One strike.
- 17:58Well, that might be just exactly what Marichal needs, Joe, to settle down. He seemed to be a little edgy.
- 18:03He had to get some early help and he got it. It was interesting to watch who was coming on that play.
- 18:08Pagano and Hillar were alternating. Hillar was the one who took this throw, but they were moving around pretty good.
- 18:14Marichal ready and here's the one strike pitch. Fastball. He hits it up the middle.
- 18:19Hillar can't get it. It goes into center field. Tommy Trash ripped one up the middle.
- 18:26The first hit of the ball game. It's a runner at first base with two outs and the batter will be Mickey Mannell.
- 18:34That ball knight of chip Marichal's glove as it went back through there, a low liner.
- 18:39He tried the spirit and right on into center field.
- 18:43Mannell has had two hits and 11 trips in the series for a 182 batting average.
- 18:51He'll be batting left handed against the right-hander.
- 18:56Trash at first base with two outs is no score in the first inning.
- 19:03There's a quick throw to first. Trash back in time.
- 19:06A Mickey steps out.
- 19:16Mickey right down on the end of the bat.
- 19:21Here's the pitch. Down low. One ball, no strikes.
- 19:26Marichal has thrown mostly fastballs here in the first inning.
- 19:30Comester making his first World Series appearance.
- 19:38Tom Trash takes his lead at first base.
- 19:44Here's the one in no pitch. Ball. It's too low.
- 19:47Fastball that was over the plate but below the knees.
- 19:50A ball too and a no strike count.
- 19:53Tom Hellerbein at play trying to help his young pitch as much as he can.
- 19:56He's given a much lower target than he started with.
- 20:00He's been moving to give the target, trying to get the youngster on the beam.
- 20:06Marichal gets set. Here's the two in no pitch.
- 20:10Strike, he got a fastball in around the letters.
- 20:14A ball too and a strike one count.
- 20:16Mickey was looking for something on the inside part of the plate that he could pull
- 20:20into the right field section and Marichal coming in with a fastball around the letters
- 20:25on the outside part of the plate.
- 20:32One gets set.
- 20:36Here's the two one pitch. Curve ball. It's up high.
- 20:39Three and one to Mickey.
- 20:42Roger Maris is waiting in the on-deck circle.
- 20:45Kubeck walked to start the sending.
- 20:49He was doubled up as Bobby Richardson struck out on the three-two pitch.
- 20:54Now it's three and one to Mickey Mantle with a runner at first base.
- 20:59The pitch. Ground ball that is fouled on the first base line.
- 21:03Wally Moses, the first base coach, picks it up.
- 21:06Three and two to Mantle.
- 21:08That means a trash will be moving on the pitch, three-two and two outs.
- 21:22Marichal taking a lot of time here in the first inning.
- 21:26Comes to a set position.
- 21:28Now he steps off, bluffing trash back.
- 21:31Quickly gets ready again.
- 21:33Here's the pitch.
- 21:34A swing in the mid.
- 21:36And then Mickey Mantle spikes out on a curve ball.
- 21:40No runs on one hit.
- 21:42There were no errors, one man left, and the score at the end of one full inning of play.
- 21:46The Yankees nothing, the Giants nothing.
- 21:49Well, there's nothing more thrilling to a youngster than an autographed baseball.
- 21:52And if you're lucky enough to get one, be sure your star signs it with a paper mate.

- 22:46Oh, how do you read it?
- 22:48Read it.
- 22:50Oh.
- 22:51Fully Follou will lead off to the Giants in the second inning.
- 22:54He'll be followed by Sepeda and then Jim Davenport.
- 22:58There's no score as we go into the top of the second inning.
- 23:03Follou has had two hits and Tim Thribson a series for an even 200 batting average.
- 23:09Right-handed batter facing the left hander, Whitey Ford.
- 23:12The first bet, she swings and bounces it down the left field line.
- 23:16It's in there.
- 23:17Follou is around first base.
- 23:19He's going to try for two. Here's the throw.
- 23:21He is safe in seconds.
- 23:27Fully Follou sent a ground ball between Boyer and the bag down into the left field corner.
- 23:34And he's at second base with no one out.
- 23:37Bring up the first baseman, Orlando Sepeda.
- 23:45Sepeda, a right-handed batter, is looking for his first hit in the series.
- 23:49He's been to the plate eight times.
- 23:53Ford delivers.
- 23:55Ball, he got the curve too low.
- 23:57One ball, no strikes.
- 24:02Yankees plays Sepeda a little bit to right center field.
- 24:07Whitey checks his runner. Here's the one and oh pitch.
- 24:10Curve ball, he fouls it back.
- 24:12One ball, one strike.
- 24:15Sepeda trying to go to right field at least until he's got the one strike on him,
- 24:19hoping he could at least get the ground ball and move Allu over to third base.
- 24:23Ford at candlestick challenge, Sepeda with his fast ball and got him.
- 24:29Whitey gets set.
- 24:31Here's the one, one pitch.
- 24:33Down low, he got the curve and the dirt.
- 24:36Ball two, a strike one.
- 24:38Ford throwing a lot of curve balls here this afternoon.
- 24:40Joe told you, candlestick, he said because of the wind, his curve did nothing.
- 24:46But Whitey will throw a lot of curves here today.
- 24:52Here's the two, one pitch.
- 24:55Down low, this one over the plate for two low.
- 24:58Three and one to Sepeda.
- 25:03Big, strong right-handed batter.
- 25:10Phillip Ballu down at second base with no one out.
- 25:13We're in the second inning, no score in the ball game.
- 25:16Here's the pitch.
- 25:17A ground ball hit for the shortstop.
- 25:19Cubak has it, the quick flip to first, he's out.
- 25:22Sepeda goes out, short to first, Allu has to hold on at second base.
- 25:28That's a ball inside where Sepeda couldn't go to the right side
- 25:32and the ground ball doesn't put up the big base
- 25:35and you can see the little bit of a battle that was going on between Sepeda and Ford.
- 25:39Ford comes out the winner.
- 25:42I'll bring up the third baseman, Jim Davenport.
- 25:45Jimmy's had two hits and nine trips for a 222 batting average.
- 25:49Another right-handed batter.
- 25:51The pitch, ball, it's too low.
- 25:54One ball and no strikes.
- 25:59And it is not an accident that Ford is getting this curve ball
- 26:03just a little bit low or a little bit outside, Joe.
- 26:06That's his pitching pattern.
- 26:08Yes, sir, and he's going to make Davenport hit his pitch.
- 26:10He's got first base open.
- 26:11If he walks in, he's still not going to be heard.
- 26:13There's a little left-hand hitter coming up next time, Howler.
- 26:15So Davenport will have to kind of widen his strike zone
- 26:18if he wants to drive in Allu who's on the second base.
- 26:21Whitey's the type of pitcher he'll throw his strikes when he wants to.
- 26:25But he'd rather you'd bite it that bad when, if you will.
- 26:27Here's the pitch.
- 26:28Down low.
- 26:29Ball two and no strikes.
- 26:32And if he can ever get a team to hitting the bad pitch,
- 26:36then it's a typical Whitey Ford afternoon, just a breeze.
- 26:40It's just funny how the pattern of the good pitch with Georgia
- 26:43just won't give in to the hitter.
- 26:45Right, Joe.
- 26:47Checks his runner at second base.
- 26:49Here's the pitch.
- 26:50Strike.
- 26:51He got the fastball in around the knees.
- 26:53Ball two and strike one.
- 26:57Jimmy Davenport the batter.
- 26:59The giants of a runner at second base with one out,
- 27:02there's no score here in the second inning.
- 27:05Allu let off the sending with a ground double to left.
- 27:08So Payta then bounced to the shortstop.
- 27:11Here's the two-one pitch.
- 27:13He swings and fouls it off.
- 27:15This one going into the upper deck behind the Yankee dugout.
- 27:20Two and two.
- 27:21Another capacity crowd on hand today.
- 27:24Might not be as large as yesterday because of the standing room,
- 27:27but there does not seem to be a vacant seat in the house.
- 27:34Yesterday we had 71,000 people here.
- 27:37It's going to be close to that today.
- 27:41Whitey Ford gets that.
- 27:44Here's a quick throw to second.
- 27:46Allu gets back just in time.
- 27:48It's Bobby Richardson raced over behind him
- 27:50and on a signal from the catcher,
- 27:53Ford whirl and fired blind a second.
- 27:56Richardson was there, put the tag on Allu.
- 27:59A fraction too late.
- 28:02Here's the pitch to Davenport.
- 28:03He swings and strikes out.
- 28:06And Davenport goes down swinging on a curve ball.
- 28:11Ford has a great move to every base.
- 28:14The first base we all know about that one.
- 28:16This one, the second base, was close.
- 28:19And what it did, it served its purpose.
- 28:21He didn't get his man, which is what he would have liked it, John,
- 28:24but it served its purpose and then it cut down Allu's lead
- 28:26to give the outfielders a chance to make the play at the plate.
- 28:28And as far as third base, he just about had Willie Mayes,
- 28:31one of the fine base runners over at Kendall's thing
- 28:33in the opening day.
- 28:35Here's Tom Haller, the catcher.
- 28:37Big left-handed batter.
- 28:38Ford delivers way outside a nice stop by Elston Howard.
- 28:42I thought it was interesting when it looked like the Dodgers
- 28:44might be in this world series.
- 28:46Someone asked Elston Howard,
- 28:47do you think he'd have any trouble throwing out Maury Wills?
- 28:50He says not with Ford pitching.
- 28:52Unless he runs from standing right on the bag,
- 28:54he won't get much of a lead on Ford.
- 28:56He has a great move.
- 28:58There's no score here on the top of the second inning.
- 29:00The Giants were the runner at second base in two outs.
- 29:04Ford gets that. The pitch.
- 29:07Here's a long barrel to right field.
- 29:09Well, here it is. Down a home run.
- 29:34Tom Haller has just slammed a lion drive
- 29:37into the lower deck in right field,
- 29:39and the Giants have gone out in front
- 29:41by a score of two to nothing.
- 29:45Here's a home run,
- 29:46and there's another reason, George.
- 29:48Here's Pagani.
- 29:49Swings and hits a ground ball to first base.
- 29:51Scarron picks it up, steps on the bag,
- 29:53and Pagani is out on the first pitch.
- 29:55Well, the Giants get two runs on two hits.
- 29:58No arrows, no on left,
- 30:00and the score at the end of the first half of second inning,
- 30:02the Giants two, and the Yankees nothing.
- 30:05Well, we've seen some fine second base play in this series,
- 30:08and another top second baseman in the American League
- 30:11is the angels, Billy Moran.
- 30:13He's a man of few words, but what he says makes sense.
- 30:16Let's listen.
- 30:17Say, Bill, I see that you're shaving with a new Gillette Slim adjustable.
- 30:19How do you like it?
- 30:20It's great, buddy.
- 30:21It's easier to handle and gives me even more comfortable shaves
- 30:24than my old adjustable.
- 30:26Fans, if you're missing out on this comfort,
- 30:28here's a World Series special you shouldn't let go by.
- 30:31You get the new Gillette Slim adjustable razor
- 30:34with a supply of easy shaving double-edged super blue blades,
- 30:37plus a 79-cent can of foaming,
- 30:40the cream of all instant leather,
- 30:42all for only $1.95.
- 30:45A 229-valuant, you save 34 cents.
- 30:48Now, the lighter, longer, slim adjustable is easier to handle.
- 30:52It's especially designed to reach awkward shaving areas,
- 30:55and it's adjustable.
- 30:56One of nine different settings,
- 30:58and it's just right for your skin and beard.
- 31:00Right now, you get the razor, blades, and foaming.
- 31:03A 229-valuant for only $1.95.
- 31:12Well, Tom Haller dropped this crowd to his feet
- 31:15as he slammed a 3-2 slider into the lower deck and right field,
- 31:19and the Giants have gone out in front of the Yankees.
- 31:22Two to nothing.
- 31:24Roger Maris will be the lead-off man for New York.
- 31:27He'll be followed by Elston Howard and then Bill Scowrin.
- 31:32Roger has an even 300 batting average.
- 31:35He's been with the play ten times and he's had three hits.
- 31:41He's driven in four rounds for the Yankees.
- 31:43Two in the first game of the double, two here yesterday with a single.
- 31:51Maris Shaw gets ready.
- 31:53Here's the pitch to Maris.
- 31:55He tries to butt, but he missed it.
- 31:58One strike to Maris.
- 32:00The shift is on. The Giants have three infielders on the right side.
- 32:04Davenport is playing wide of the bag, but in close at third.
- 32:09And Maris attempting the bunt to get on base.
- 32:16Maris Shaw goes into the big windup.
- 32:18Here's the one strike pitch.
- 32:20Curve ball, it's outside.
- 32:22One-and-one to Maris.
- 32:24Well, a double and a home run on the top of the inning, putting the Giants out in front.
- 32:37Maris Shaw working a little slowly right now.
- 32:39Gets ready. The pitch.
- 32:41Here's a fly ball hit the left center.
- 32:43May's chasing over going hard. He makes the catch.
- 32:48Almost a collision there.
- 32:50May is in a loop, racing at top speed in the left center field.
- 32:55And Willie caught the ball and jumped over a loop that went down on the ground.
- 33:03Last time they saw a play like that, George, might have been Terry Moore and Musial in the World Series when Terry Moore made a leaping catch as Musial slid under him.
- 33:14Say, I don't know how our feelers can do that when they just go down and avoid the collision. It looked like they were going to hit, but they didn't.
- 33:20Fine play by Willie May.
- 33:22Here's Alston Howard to catch her.
- 33:24He's had three for six in the series.
- 33:26Takes a strike over the outside corner.
- 33:32One out with no one on. We're in the bottom of the second. The Giants are out in front by a score of two to nothing.
- 33:38Maris Shaw ready?
- 33:40The pitch to Howard. He swings and pops it up behind the plate. It's going to be out of play.
- 33:45Howard is coming back. He has no chance to get it.
- 33:52So Maris Shaw out in front of Howard with a strike two count.
- 33:58It was amazing that Willie Mays could get over in the left center to make the play on Maris as he was playing Roger Well over in the right center.
- 34:04Looks like it might be an easier play for Alu, but Willie came from nowhere and caught it.
- 34:12Here's the pitch to Howard. He swings and lines it hard.
- 34:15And off the glove of the shortstop, he picks it up, throws. He is out.
- 34:19He's out.
- 34:33Jose Faghan racing to his left, knocked down the hot shot by Elston Howard.
- 34:38Picked it up and made the throw to Sepeta in time to get Ellie by a half step.
- 34:43So there's two outs and the batter will be Bill Scarran.
- 34:46Bill is looking for his first World Series head. He's been to the plate four official times.
- 34:54Here's the first pitch. He swings and is in the fly ball into deep left center.
- 34:58Mays going back way back. It's over his head all the way to the fifth.
- 35:02Here's Scarran. Around second he's been a try for three.
- 35:05The throw not coming in. It's being held up by Rob.
- 35:21Bill Scarran has just hit one into deep center field all the way to the fifth.
- 35:26Some 457 feet away. And he's at third base with a triple.
- 35:31That's as far as you can hit a ball in this ballpark and keep it in the playing area.
- 35:36You're not going to see that too often either, George, where a ball is going to get over the head of what he made.
- 35:41But man, he did that for all the right.
- 35:43Manishaw had to just get some help and he's been getting a fine play by Paghan, a fine play by Mays.
- 35:48But nobody could get that one. It's gone.
- 35:52Waiters for you, the batter. Here's the first pitch.
- 35:55The curve ball. It's in there. One try, you plead. He's had two hits and nine trips for a 222 batting average.
- 36:04The play by Paghan becomes really big here in the second inning.
- 36:10Scarran at third base with two outs.
- 36:13Marishaw into the windup. Here's the pitch.
- 36:17Curve outside. One and one to plead.
- 36:20A two to nothing ball game. We're in the bottom of the second inning.
- 36:26The Giants out in front of the Yankees.
- 36:30That was hit number two for New York.
- 36:36Here's the one one pitch.
- 36:38He swings and hits a five ball to right field.
- 36:41Harvey Keene moving in, makes the catch and the side to the batter.
- 36:44The Warriors flying to right field.
- 36:46No runs on one hit.
- 36:48No errors. One man left.
- 36:50Down the score at the end of two.
- 36:52The Giants two and the Yankees nothing.
- 36:55Jim Davenport made quite a play here yesterday.
- 36:58A jumping stab and turned it into a double play.
- 37:00And here's a clubhouse chat. I'd like you to hear between Jim and Russ Hodges.
- 37:04You've got a Gillette Slim adjustable razor, Jim.
- 37:07I suppose you're a super blue-blade man too.
- 37:09Sure am, Russ. How do you like them?
- 37:11First time I used them, I was amazed.
- 37:13I never had the clean, comfortable shave.
- 37:16Well engineers call the remarkably keen edges of super blue the scientific breakthrough.
- 37:22They're produced by an exclusive Gillette process.
- 37:25You've got such smooth, refreshing shades with so little effort.
- 37:29Well you might look twice to see if there's a blade in your razor at all.
- 37:32And the dispenser is included with Gillette's newest razor, the Streamline Slim adjustable.
- 37:38It's lighter, longer and adjusts to nine different blade settings.
- 37:42One is just right for your skin and beard.
- 37:44Right now the Gillette World Series Special includes razor and blades, plus a 79 cent can of foamy instant leather.
- 37:52It's a $229 value for only $1.95. You save 34 cents.
- 38:06Here's the pitcher, Juan Marachal leading off to the Giants in the third inning.
- 38:10He'll be followed by Keenan and Chuck Heller.
- 38:17Marachal, the right-handed batter. Ford delivers a curve and it's in there. One strike.
- 38:23The Giants have two runs on two hits and no errors. The Yankees no runs on two hits and they have no errors.
- 38:31The pitch, he swings and hits a fly ball to right field. Marachal moves back, makes the catch and there's one out.
- 38:38Marachal hit the ball hard, straight to Marachal right field.
- 38:43He'll bring up Harvey Keen.
- 38:48Harvey fly to left field to start this game.
- 38:54Harvey's looking for his first hit. He's been to the plate six times without a hit in this game.
- 39:00Ford into the windup, delivers strike. He got the fast ball over. Keen faked a bun.
- 39:06Warrior racing in from third base. A one strike count.
- 39:13Why'd he ready? Here it is. Change of base. It hard to third. Warrior has it.
- 39:18The thrutter first, he's out. Harvey Keen goes out. Third to first.
- 39:30That's two down and the batter will be Chuck Heller.
- 39:37Chuck's in a line, dry straight to Q-Back his first time at bat.
- 39:41We're in the top of the third inning. There's two outs with no one on. The giants out in front, two to nothing.
- 39:55Whitey Ford gets ready. Here's the pitch. Ball, it's down low, gets away from Elston Howard.
- 40:01One ball and no strikes. The difference in this ball game has been a two run homer by Tom Haller in the second inning.
- 40:11Here's the one and no pitch. Curve ball down low. Ball two and no strikes. Whitey pulled the string on that one.
- 40:19Whitey and Elston Howard taking a look at Hanachick. They thought it should have been in there but Jim said it was a little bit too low.
- 40:33The two and no pitch coming up. Inside a fastball that pushed him back.
- 40:38A ball three and a no strike count to the left-handed hitting second baseman.
- 40:49Whitey ready. Here it is. Strike, he got the fastball over. Heller was taking all the way on that one.
- 40:56Ball three and strike one. Two outs, no one on. We're in the third inning. Giants two, Yankees nothing.
- 41:05The pitch to Heller. He swings and hits at the second base. Bobby Richardson as it flips to first, he's out.
- 41:12Chuck Heller goes out, second to first. No runs, no hits, no un-left.
- 41:17On the score at the end of the first half of the third, the Giants two and the Yankees nothing.
- 41:22Well the Yankees have great power hitting. We just had a peek at that when Bill Scowern drove one over Willie Mays' dead in deep center field.
- 41:30The hitters give a lot of credit to batting coach Wally Moses. He knows what it's best to give and when to give it.
- 41:35Here's a sample to Mel Allen.
- 41:37Wally seems to me most ball players shave the gelette way.
- 41:41Sure looks that way in the clubhouse after a game. You see plenty of those easy shaving, slim adjustable razors in use.
- 41:52Wally going to the bottom of the third inning. It's a two to nothing ball game. The Giants out in front.
- 41:57Whitey Fort will be leading off for the Yankees, followed by Tony Kubek and then Bobby Richardson.
- 42:06Whitey's a left handed batter. Stepping in to face the right hander, Marichau.
- 42:12Juan gets ready and here's the first pitch. Pass ball right down the middle. One strike to Whitey.
- 42:19The Yankees have threatened against Marichau.
- 42:22They had two runners on and the first inning. One of them was doubled up at second.
- 42:27Then Scowern with the third base with two outs in the second. But they have not been able to break through in the scoring column.
- 42:35Here's the one strike pitch. Curve ball. Get hard to Whitey. Theo Keene is there and he makes the catch.
- 42:41Whitey Fort lined the ball. Straight to Harvey Keene in right field.
- 42:45Marichau hung a curve ball, Joe, right up in his eyes and Whitey was waiting on it.
- 42:51Boy, he has a good curve ball. He hasn't had a get this afternoon, George.
- 42:55And whenever you hang that curve ball to those pitches, they're going to jump up off the ground with both feet to try to get it.
- 43:01And Whitey ripped it pretty good.
- 43:03Here's Tony Kubek. Tony drew a walk in the first inning.
- 43:10Marichau ready. The first pitch is a curve. He fouls it back.
- 43:14One strike. Two to nothing. The Giants are leading. We're in the third inning. One out, no one on.
- 43:21Whitey Fort against Juan Marichau here in the fourth game of the 62 World Series.
- 43:26The Yankees out in front in games, two to one.
- 43:32Here's the pitch. Fastball. Lion foul down the left field. No wind up, Joe.
- 43:37He'll do that. He caught two bets between swings.
- 43:40He'll go into the big wind up and then when he thinks he can get it by here, if you try to time him, he'll go into the no wind up.
- 43:46He doesn't like to see the hitter time his rhythm between pitches.
- 43:51And he'll put pitch if you're not careful.
- 43:54Juan ready again. Here it is. Curve inside. This one almost hit him. One ball, two strikes.
- 44:00George, I'm like just bad here that the toughest part of catching is finding out the pitcher's best pitch.
- 44:05And it's interesting to watch that howler work. Marichau doesn't have his curve ball yet, but he hasn't forgotten about it.
- 44:10He's still probing. He's hoping he can come up with it for Marichau.
- 44:13Here it is. High fly ball in the shallow center field.
- 44:17Killer going out. Mays coming in and Willie makes the catch.
- 44:21Tony Kubek out on a fly ball to Willie Mays and shallow center field.
- 44:26Now you walk out to work a ball game. You know what your pitcher has, but until he makes his first few pitches to a hitter,
- 44:33you really don't know. And it could be that his best pitch isn't what you thought it would be.
- 44:38And you have to probe and search and find. And so far Marichau hasn't had his curve ball,
- 44:42but young Howler doing quite a job back there probing, hoping he can come up with it.
- 44:46That was the best one he threw so far, the one he just threw Kubek.
- 44:49Here's Bobby Richardson. Takes a fast ball up high. One ball, no strikes.
- 44:54Bobby struck out his first time at bat.
- 44:59It's a two to nothing ball game here in the bottom of the third. The Giants out in front.
- 45:05Here's the one in O-pitch. Outside he got the slider just off the corner.
- 45:10A ball two and a no strike count.
- 45:17Whitey Ford started descending with a lion drive to right field.
- 45:21Tony Kubek then fly to center field.
- 45:25Here's the two and O-pitch. Ball at the top high. Three and O and a Bobby.
- 45:35In case you missed it, the Giants picked up two in the second on a double by Alou and a homer by Tom Howler.
- 45:41The fast ball is in there. Three and one to Richardson.
- 45:48Each team has two hits.
- 45:52A ball three and a strike one count. Marichau ready.
- 45:57Here it is. Down low he walked in.
- 46:00Bobby Richardson draws a base on ball. That's the second walk given up by Marichau.
- 46:06That's a runner at first place with two outs and the batter is Tommy Trich.
- 46:11Tommy lined a single to center field back in the first inning.
- 46:15That was his fifth hit of the series. This youngster having a fine world series.
- 46:21Here's a switch batter. Adding left-hander today against the right-hander.
- 46:29Marichau gets set. The pitch to Trich. Outside. Fast ball off the corner.
- 46:37One ball no strikes.
- 46:40It'll be Ralph Terry for the Yankees here tomorrow afternoon and Billy O'Dell a left-hander pitching for San Francisco.
- 46:47Marichau gets ready. Here's the pitch. A high pop fly in the shallow left field.
- 46:52Here's Alou coming in. She'll have no trouble with this one. He's got it and the side returns.
- 46:57Tom Trich flies to left field. He runs no hits. No errors. One man left.
- 47:02And the scorthy in the three. The Giants two and the Yankees nothing.
- 47:09He set four hits in the series. He swings and lands it in the right center field.
- 47:14Here's Marichau. He's going to drop it. Here's Marichau. He cuts it off.
- 47:19May takes a big turn but he holds on. He has to hustle back to first as he's swift.
- 47:23Trying to get back. Welly Mays opens a fourth inning for the Giants with a single in the right center field.
- 47:33So a runner at first with no one out and the batter will be Philippe Ballou.
- 47:38Philippe...
- 47:40He goes on a double down the left field line his first time at bat. He scored the first run of the ballgame.
- 47:49Strong right handed batter. Board gets set. Here's the pitch.
- 47:55Ball. He got it low. One ball and a strike.
- 47:59Boyer is playing in close at third base. It's about even with the back.
- 48:08Mays taking a big lead at first base.
- 48:15There's a throw over by Whitey. That was not his good move.
- 48:18More of a token toss just to remind Willie that he's keeping an eye on him.
- 48:26Whitey gets set.
- 48:30Here's the one and no pitch. Turner ball hit the third base.
- 48:33Here goes down the second one out back to first to double play.
- 48:42Philippe Ballou bounces into a fast double play. Boyer to Bobby Richardson back to Vilskarn.
- 48:49That's two down and the batter will be Orlando Sopeta.
- 48:53Usually that first throw makes the double play and Boyer gave Richardson a good ball of handle and it's a good thing because Willie really got it on top of them.
- 49:00Whitey starts his wind up and then he stops. Steps off for a moment.
- 49:05Ready to go. The pitch to Sopeta. Ball. It's inside. One ball and no strike.
- 49:11Sopeta bounce to the shortstop his first time.
- 49:19The one and no pitch. Down low. He gets the fast ball over but too low. Ball two and no strike.
- 49:26Orlando checking with Whitey Lachman at third base to see if the hit sign is on for this two and no pitch.
- 49:32I don't think there's much doubt but what it will be. Here's the pitch.
- 49:37Inside. Three and 0 to Sopeta.
- 49:41George he's been turning them loose on three nothing. Bailey swung it at three nothing here yesterday and Sopeta really gave that lock with a good long look.
- 49:53Whitey into the wind up. The pitch. Now swing and a foul. He was swinging on the three and 0.
- 49:59A ball three and a strike one count.
- 50:03Can't say that the dark is taking a bounce out of their hands. He has really given them an opportunity to swing whenever they got that picture crippled.
- 50:10That's right Joe. They've swung in a lot of three and 0 pitches in this series.
- 50:15Giants leading two to nothing. We're in the fourth inning.
- 50:19Here's the pitch. He swings and it's a high ball to right field.
- 50:23Roger Maris moving in. Makes the catch in the side.
- 50:27No runs on one hit. There were no errors. No one left in the story.
- 50:31The end of the first half of the fourth inning. The Giants two and the Yankees nothing.
- 50:35Well Jack Sanford gets the great ball game against the Yankees the other day and today another fine right hander Maris Schelding.
- 50:42Now Jack has been a mighty busy guy this season but Russ Hodges caught him recently for this quick question.
- 50:48I see you have the Gillette slim adjustable razor Jack.
- 50:51That is Russ. I thought nothing could beat my original adjustable but this slim is done it.
- 50:57It's got better balance makes shaving easier.
- 51:00Yes Jack the new slim adjustable does make shaving easier than ever.
- 51:04It's lighter and longer slimmer too for those hard to reach areas like under the nose and the Gillette slim is adjustable.
- 51:11Its exclusive precision dial has nine different settings and one suits your skin and beard exactly.
- 51:17With the slim you get a supply of double edged Gillette super blue blade with edges so keen so smooth.
- 51:24Well you might think there was no blade in the race.
- 51:26Right now as a Gillette World Series Special you get the new slim with super blue blade plus a 79 cent can of Gillette foaming.
- 51:35Cream of all instant lattice all for only a dollar ninety five.
- 51:39It's a two twenty nine value so you save thirty four cents.
- 51:48There's Mickey Mantle to lead off for the Yankees in the fourth inning.
- 51:52Mickey was a strikeout victim his first time in baths. I was back in the first inning.
- 51:58Mantle batting left handed against the right hander Marichael.
- 52:02Here's the first pitch strike fastball over the outside corner.
- 52:08The Giants two in the Yankees nothing we're in the bottom of the fourth inning.
- 52:12The Giants have out hit the Yankees three to two.
- 52:19Mantle right down on the end of the bat waiting.
- 52:26Here's the one strike pitch down low one in one to Mantle.
- 52:33Joe Marichael does not seem to be throwing quite as hard today as he did in the playoffs. Not yet anyway.
- 52:39Not yet.
- 52:40Haller is still searching and probing. He's mixing them up I'd say more than I've ever seen in George because he's just not sure yet.
- 52:49Here's the one one pitch inside. He pushed him back with a fastball.
- 52:54It's an easy thing to win a ball game when you've got your real good stuff going for you.
- 52:57And it's an easy thing to catch a pitch you when he has all his pitches and he's got the good stuff.
- 53:03But when he doesn't and you have to probe and search that's where the fine line is drawn.
- 53:08And a little hidden thing that the catcher does back there certainly plays an important role.
- 53:12Hegan was great at that.
- 53:14Marichael ready the two one pitch outside just off the corner three and one to Mickey Mantle.
- 53:22Marichael doesn't want to walk anybody has a two run lead and of course he walks about or that brings the potential tying run up to the plate.
- 53:30And the next batter of course will be Roger Marichael who has hit a few home runs in his down.
- 53:37Here's a three one pitch to Mantle. Strike he checked his swing on the fastball. Jim Honechick going up with the right hand.
- 53:45Three and two to Mickey.
- 53:49He knew that was a strike but he wanted it a little bit more inside.
- 53:52You can see that that was the pitch he wanted to pull out of here but a little bit on the outside so he let it go.
- 53:57Here it is.
- 53:58Curveball he's got.
- 54:02Mickey Mantle goes down swinging on a good curveball.
- 54:06Three strikeouts for Marichael.
- 54:09One away and the batter will be Roger Marichael.
- 54:17Marichael on a fly ball to Willie Mays his first time.
- 54:20Willie made a good play as he raced in the left center to get the fly ball.
- 54:26Roger's had three hits in the series.
- 54:31He's been the big RBI man for the Yankees.
- 54:34He's had four.
- 54:35The Warriors had three.
- 54:38Marichael already.
- 54:40Here's the pitch to Marichael.
- 54:41A ground ball hit the first base. Sepeta knocks it down, picks it up, steps on the bag and marises out.
- 54:48A hard ground ball right straight to Sepeta.
- 54:51Orlando bobbled it for just a moment.
- 54:53He made an easy play out of it.
- 54:55So there's two down and the batter will be Elston Howard.
- 55:00Well, he was out on a good play with a shortstop bagon his first time up as he knocked down his vicious ground ball and tossed him out.
- 55:18Marichael looking in.
- 55:21Taking a little time right here.
- 55:23Juan will work fast for a while and then you'll slow his pitching pace.
- 55:29The pitch to Howard. He swings and misses on a fast ball.
- 55:33One strike.
- 55:36This fellow pitches a lot like Don Newcomb, Joe.
- 55:39When he goes into that big exaggerated wind up and he pretty much like Newcomb that he falls towards the first base side because of his tremendous follow through.
- 55:47He really puts a lot of effort into it when he goes into the exaggerated one.
- 55:51Here's the one strike pitch.
- 55:53Turn ball outside. One ball, one strike.
- 55:57Marichael has not been missing by much today.
- 56:01A lot of these pitches have just been off the corner and of course he's been disagreeing a little bit with Hanichik.
- 56:08Not saying anything, just looking in on some of these real close pitches.
- 56:15It's ready to go.
- 56:17Here's the one one pitch.
- 56:18Sidearm curve, he got it over.
- 56:21One ball, two strikes to Howard.
- 56:23It's almost like a hesitation pitch, George, when he got to the peak of it he just stopped for maybe a split second and then wheeled it in there.
- 56:33One and two to Elston Howard batting with two outs and no one on and a fourth inning.
- 56:37The Giants two and the Yankees nothing.
- 56:42Marichael taking a little time.
- 56:45It's ready for the wind up.
- 56:48Here's the one two pitch.
- 56:49Down low.
- 56:50That'll even the count at two and two.
- 56:58Elias had three hits in this series and seven trips.
- 57:03His bid for a base hit his first time at bat in this game was spoiled by a Pagane.
- 57:08Here's the two two pitch.
- 57:09A swing and a miss.
- 57:11He's stuck him out on a curve ball.
- 57:13Howard goes down swinging.
- 57:15No hits, no errors, no one left and the score at the end of the fourth, the Giants two and the Yankees nothing.
- 57:21Bill Scowern is quite an all-round athlete.
- 57:24Down down to Purdue University, Moose was a football star just like Minnesota's rookie Bernie Allen.
- 57:29Ray Scott got him in a huddle the other day and here's what came out with Bernie Allen.
- 57:33Scowern's shaved, sure it picks you up, doesn't it Bernie?
- 57:36Sure it does and when you're really bushed, you appreciate you let super blue blades all the more.
- 57:41They give you clean, easy shaves and nothing flat.
- 57:44They're the only blades for me.
- 57:46Now super blues have become a must with millions upon millions of men in the world over.
- 57:51Those amazing edges are actually mirror finished so keen and smooth you almost think there's no blade in your razor.
- 57:57What refreshing shave you get?
- 57:59Quick, clean shave you just can't describe.
- 58:02A supply comes with a new streamlined Gillette Slim adjustable razor that's lighter, longer and more compact.
- 58:09And right now you can get them both, razor and blades plus a 79 cent can of Gillette foamy instant leather.
- 58:16It's a World Series special with a 229 value but you pay only $1.95 so you get a safe 34 cents.
- 58:25Well at the end of four it's two runs, three hits and no errors for the Giants,
- 58:31no runs, two hits and no errors for the Yankees.
- 58:35Jim Davenport to lead off here in the fifth inning, he swings and fouls it back, one strike.
- 58:42Davenport struck out his first time at VAT.
- 58:46He'll be followed by Tom Howler and then Jose Pagán.
- 58:54Whitey Ford against Juan Marichal here in the fourth game of this series.
- 58:59A pitch to Davenport, he swings and bounces it foul down the third baseline.
- 59:04Two strikes to Davenport.
- 59:11The only scoring in this ball game coming back in the second inning.
- 59:15Pauly Pauly, double to left and Tom Howler get a 3-2 pitch into the right field seats.
- 59:24Here's a two strike pitch down low, one and two to Davenport.
- 59:32Jimmy has two hits and ten drips.
- 59:37Whitey gets ready, there's a one-two pitch.
- 59:40He swings and hits a bouncing ball to Schartz stop.
- 59:43Chewbac has it to throw it a first, he's out.
- 59:45Davenport goes out, Schartz to first.
- 59:49That's one away and the batter will be Tom Howler the catcher.
- 59:53Nice round of applause for Tom since you have said.
- 59:57A two run homer back in the second inning with all the scoring in this game.
- 1:00:03Big left handed batter.
- 1:00:08Ford delivers, there's a foul ball behind the plate.
- 1:00:12One strike.
- 1:00:24We're in the fifth inning, there's one out with no one on.
- 1:00:28Ford delivers a slow curve outside, one ball, one strike.
- 1:00:35Howler hit a 3-2 slider in the second inning for the home run.
- 1:00:42Here's the one-one pitch, foul ball back on the screen,
- 1:00:46there's a fast ball around the letters, one ball, two strikes.
- 1:00:59Ford getting a new baseball from Jim Honichick.
- 1:01:03Checks his sign with Howard, there's a one-two pitch.
- 1:01:07Ford is outside trying to get him to fight at a sweeping curve ball.
- 1:01:17Two and two.
- 1:01:21Whitey into the wind-up, the 2-2 pitch, curve ball,
- 1:01:24hit up the middle, it's in the center field.
- 1:01:28Tom Howler hit the curve on the end of the bat over the head of Ford,
- 1:01:31one hop into center field and he has his second hit.
- 1:01:35Ford's first base with one out and the batter will be Jose Pagan.
- 1:01:40Whitey let up on that curve ball open,
- 1:01:42he's getting the Howard way out in front with a big guy laid back,
- 1:01:45pretty good at bat even though he didn't hit the ball good,
- 1:01:47they were swung way around playing him the full.
- 1:01:49I'd say he's had a tremendous year for a first-year man.
- 1:01:52It's a good-looking ball player, Joe.
- 1:01:55Not only was the bat with behind the plate,
- 1:01:58here's Pagan, the little shot stop, he bounced the first base his first time.
- 1:02:03He delivers a curve, it's in there. One strike.
- 1:02:07Borrier is playing in close, he cannot play deep with Pagan at the plate.
- 1:02:11And even though there's one out,
- 1:02:13Dark likes to use the head run as a defensive play to stay away from the double play
- 1:02:16more than the first and third situation,
- 1:02:19so you can't take the ground that he won't start his man
- 1:02:21because he'd like to break up the infield for Pagan if possible.
- 1:02:25Ford checks his runner, the pitch.
- 1:02:27Here's a drive in the left center, it's in there.
- 1:02:30Power around second on his way to third, the throw goes to second base.
- 1:02:34As Pagan lined hard over the head of the shot stop in the left center field.
- 1:02:42All the giants are threatening here in the top of the fifth.
- 1:02:45They have runners at first and third with only one out.
- 1:02:48And the batter will be the pitcher, Juan Marichau.
- 1:02:52A little bit interesting here to see what happens.
- 1:02:55Well, the Dark will go to the squeezed play.
- 1:02:58They hit and run to stay out of the double play.
- 1:03:00And what might happen?
- 1:03:02Nelson Howard out talking to Whitey Ford
- 1:03:04and Whitey with a good move at third base.
- 1:03:07Lockman was over there talking to Howard at third base
- 1:03:10and he's reminding them of a couple things.
- 1:03:11Don't get picked off, prime thing.
- 1:03:14And of course, if there is a possible play on,
- 1:03:16you'd have to look for it.
- 1:03:17Dark likes to use it.
- 1:03:21Marichau lined the right field his first time at bat.
- 1:03:24He's a pretty good hitter.
- 1:03:27And he gets set.
- 1:03:29Here's the pitch.
- 1:03:31Ball, it's inside.
- 1:03:33One ball and no strikes.
- 1:03:38Juan out of the box right now looking to Whitey Lockman at third base.
- 1:03:43He doesn't want to miss the suicide squeeze if it's on
- 1:03:46if that runner is charging in from third base.
- 1:03:48He wants to be ready to get the bat on the ball.
- 1:03:51Whitey checking both runners.
- 1:03:55Here's the one and no pitch.
- 1:03:56Down low.
- 1:03:58A ball to it and no strike count to Marichau.
- 1:04:03So far, Marichau has given no indication he was going to buck the ball.
- 1:04:09The Yankees are lined up like this.
- 1:04:12Boyer's in close at third.
- 1:04:13Cubak is deep at shortstop.
- 1:04:15He's going to the double play.
- 1:04:16Richardson is about halfway at second base
- 1:04:19and Scowin holds against the runner at first.
- 1:04:22Here's the pitch.
- 1:04:23Here's the bat.
- 1:04:24He's got the bat back on a high pitch.
- 1:04:26It was not the suicides.
- 1:04:29Marichau had squared around a bunch and took the pitch up high.
- 1:04:33George East know that pitch.
- 1:04:35It was by a play by a young Marichau.
- 1:04:37Whitey forward once he saw him square around
- 1:04:39he speeded up and his delivery got the ball high
- 1:04:42so that the squeeze was on it to be a tough ball of fun.
- 1:04:44It was not on.
- 1:04:45He took it and then ran into the count to ball three.
- 1:04:48Here's the three and no pitch.
- 1:04:50For strike he got the fast ball over.
- 1:04:52Juan was taking all the way on this one.
- 1:04:55A ball three and a strike one count.
- 1:04:58I'll be a little careful of this one right here though.
- 1:05:01He's in real great shape.
- 1:05:05Well we'll see what happens on this three one pitch.
- 1:05:08You may go for a safety, George, where a safety squeeze
- 1:05:10where you can end up second and third and two outs.
- 1:05:13Whitey gets set.
- 1:05:15He makes a quick throw to third almost a while throw, Boyer.
- 1:05:20Good stop.
- 1:05:22Whitey whirled and fired to third base.
- 1:05:25Hauer was back in plenty of time but almost a while throw by Ford.
- 1:05:30The pitch to Marichau.
- 1:05:32He swings and misses.
- 1:05:33Val tipped it right into the mid of Elston Howard.
- 1:05:36So it's three and two.
- 1:05:39Two to nothing the Giants are leading.
- 1:05:41They're threatening again here in the fifth inning.
- 1:05:43They have runners at first and third with one out
- 1:05:46and a full count to the pitcher Juan Marichau.
- 1:05:49He squeezed with Sanford with two strikes, George.
- 1:05:52We'll see what happens.
- 1:05:53Here's the bench.
- 1:05:54He's got a bat, T. Buntz foul.
- 1:05:56So Marichau is out.
- 1:06:00Trying to squeeze on the three two pitch, he fouled the ball back
- 1:06:04and it looks like Joe, he hurt his hand on that one for some reason.
- 1:06:07Looks like the man hit him.
- 1:06:10Now he's going to ask Connichek about it.
- 1:06:13Marichau over talking to Connichek but he's out.
- 1:06:16Looks like the ball hit his hand, it's his pitching hand
- 1:06:19that he is shaking as he walks back towards the Giants dugout.
- 1:06:31It'll be a strikeout.
- 1:06:33Predicted to Whitey Ford.
- 1:06:35Still runners at first and third and the batter will be Harvey Keane.
- 1:06:40Once again with two strikes Elvin Dark with a surprise maneuver.
- 1:06:44All right, to execute the squeeze, it didn't work.
- 1:06:51The lights are being turned on right now here at Yankee Stadium.
- 1:06:55Boy, it's a bright, sunshiny afternoon but you take nothing for granted in this ballpark.
- 1:07:00The lights do relieve the shadows a little bit so they're being turned on.
- 1:07:04Harvey Keane the batter, here's the pitch.
- 1:07:07Ball down low, one ball and no strikes.
- 1:07:14Runners at first and third with two outs.
- 1:07:17The Giants lead the Yankees here in the top of the fifth, two to nothing.
- 1:07:22Whitey chucks his runners, the pitch to Keane down low.
- 1:07:27A ball two and a no strike count.
- 1:07:30And Howard really gives the base runner a good look
- 1:07:34because you can't take anything for granted with Dark as far as the surprise play
- 1:07:39and a double steal is a possibility and I see George is getting a bullpen ready.
- 1:07:43Man, Shaw may be hurt.
- 1:07:45Whitey ready again, the two and no pitch.
- 1:07:48Down low, three and no to Keane.
- 1:07:52Whitey has a left-handed batter coming up and he's being mighty careful with Harvey and the spotters.
- 1:07:59Two on, two outs in the fifth inning, a two to nothing ball game.
- 1:08:03The Giants are out in front.
- 1:08:05I think I have to throw a double breaking knuckle ball right about now, three nothing with Hillard coming up next.
- 1:08:10Dark's been turning them loose three and all.
- 1:08:13Here's the pitch, inside he walked in.
- 1:08:16Harvey Keane getting nothing at all to get off Whitey's court in this spot
- 1:08:21as Whitey had much rather pitch to the left-handed hitting Hillard
- 1:08:25than the right-handed batter Harvey Keane.
- 1:08:28So the bases are loaded with two outs.
- 1:08:30And here's Chuck coming on.
- 1:08:33He has lined to the shortstop and bounced a second in two trips.
- 1:08:38Tom Peller is at third base, Jose Pagan at second, Harvey Keane at first base.
- 1:08:44Action has started in the bullpen for the Giants.
- 1:08:47It could be that Mara Shaw hurt his hand trying to bun.
- 1:08:52It's a pitch to Hillard, outside curve breaking down and away.
- 1:08:57One ball to strikes.
- 1:09:01Bob Bull in the right-hander is throwing in the bullpen for the Giants.
- 1:09:06Bob gets it in yesterday's ball game.
- 1:09:09Here's the one in no pitch.
- 1:09:11Down low.
- 1:09:13Two in out of Hillard.
- 1:09:18Lots of times when you walk a batter intentionally are semi-intentionally.
- 1:09:24You just can't get it over to the next batter.
- 1:09:31So Whitey Ford behind two and out of Chuck Hillard.
- 1:09:35Goes into the windup.
- 1:09:37Here it is.
- 1:09:38Inside, 3-0.
- 1:09:40Wicked out a third base.
- 1:09:43Power back and down.
- 1:09:45Whitey Ford having trouble finding the strikes on here.
- 1:09:49He's behind Chuck Hillard with a ball three and a no strike cap.
- 1:09:59Chuck will be taking all the way on this pitch.
- 1:10:02Here it is.
- 1:10:03Strike, he got a free-spaw.
- 1:10:06Three and one.
- 1:10:08He's out of the box right now checking with Whitey Lockman.
- 1:10:14Here's the 3-1 pitch.
- 1:10:16Strike two.
- 1:10:18Hillard taking all the way.
- 1:10:20Three and two.
- 1:10:22The runners will be moving on this pitch.
- 1:10:24Three, two and two outs.
- 1:10:26The base is loaded here in the fifth inning.
- 1:10:29Whitey Ford ready.
- 1:10:30The three, two pitch.
- 1:10:32A swing and a miss.
- 1:10:34Chuck Hillard goes down swinging so there's no runs on two hits.
- 1:10:49No errors, three men left and the score is again to the first half of the fifth inning.
- 1:10:53The Giants two, the Yankees nothing.
- 1:10:56The first half of today's game was brought to you by the Gillette Safety Razor Company.
- 1:11:01The second half of today's game is brought to you by the Chrysler Corporation.

- 1:11:46It's one of the dependables.
- 1:11:48The 1963 Dodge Polaro 500, a product of Chrysler Corporation.
- 1:11:54Work quality, engine air, into every car.
- 1:12:05Well, let's pause 30 seconds here for our station identification.
- 1:12:10This is WGY, Schenectady.
- 1:12:13Is your beverage only half satisfying?
- 1:12:15Well, then ask yourself this question.
- 1:12:18Are you mixing with the best?
- 1:12:25It outsells all the rest.
- 1:12:30Taste better tonight.
- 1:12:33Feel better tomorrow.
- 1:12:41Bob Bowlin has come in, a side-winning right-hander, a big heart-thrower, a man shall apparently hurt his fingers.
- 1:12:47He attempted to butt.
- 1:12:49Say, ask any other players out here in this World Series, and they'll tell you that physical fitness doesn't just happen.
- 1:12:54And chances are they started to develop their bodies when they were kids.
- 1:12:58These athletes are only a small percentage of our population.
- 1:13:01What about the rest of us?
- 1:13:03If your children's school doesn't have a program of daily vigorous physical activity, urge them to start one now.
- 1:13:09For more information, write to the President's Council on Youth, Washington, 25 D.C.
- 1:13:16Now we're getting a new picture, as Joe told you here in the bottom of the fifth inning.
- 1:13:31It'll be Bob Bowlin, a big right-hander, and he'll be given as much time as he needs to get ready,
- 1:13:37because Mara Schall had to leave with an injury, and so Jim Honichick, the plate umpire,
- 1:13:42is standing off to the left of home plate right now, waiting for Bowlin to give him the word when he's ready.
- 1:13:48Joe, do you have some information here on Bowlin?
- 1:13:51Easy. I know he's tough on the right-hand hitters, George, they always complain about him,
- 1:13:55and big fellas been using relief by Alvin D'Arc, and once in a while they'd be pitching in body practice,
- 1:14:00and those right-hand hitters just not too anxious to get off that bench.
- 1:14:03He comes away around third base, and I guess one of the best descriptives you could give is that he plays good old country baseball,
- 1:14:10where he'll back and pump that ball, not too much science, just throw a lot of strikes with good stuff on it,
- 1:14:15and I kind of figure that's about as good a system as any.
- 1:14:18It is when you can get it over, Joe, and then yesterday out here he was getting it over.
- 1:14:23Now he'll be facing Bill Scower on the first batter, complete boy, you're in the picture of Whitey Ford.
- 1:14:29The Giants have two runs on five hits, and Noares and the Yankees have no runs on two hits, and they have no errors.
- 1:14:36They're scoring in this ballgame coming back in the second inning, Paulie Pallu let off with a double,
- 1:14:41Sopeta then bounced to the shortstop, Davenport struck out, and with a free two-count on Tom Haller,
- 1:14:48he land one into the lower deck in the right field seats, and the Giants have a two-to-nothing lead.
- 1:14:54During with Merrick Schauer coming up with the injury to his pitching hand, and of course there's no such thing as a trivial injury.
- 1:15:00A hangnail to a knuckleball pitcher, or a blister to a curveball pitcher is a very serious injury because he just can't handle a baseball.
- 1:15:06You just wonder what that will do to the rotation as far as the Giants' pitching is concerned.
- 1:15:11It's been in real good shape because the Yankees have had to come back with their starter.
- 1:15:15The Giants started with Merrick Schauer, was making his first start for his second,
- 1:15:19but now Merrick Schauer is out of the ballgame, and it'll be Bob Bollin who will have to hold his two-to-nothing lead.
- 1:15:26Well, here's Bill Schauer and stepping in. Schauer had a tremendous triple his first time at bat
- 1:15:31as he hit one over the head of Willie Mays in deep center field.
- 1:15:34The ball bounced against the fence, 457 feet away.
- 1:15:40That was the first hit of the series by the Moose.
- 1:15:43Bollin gets ready. Here's the pitch.
- 1:15:46He swings and fouls it off, this one going back in the upper deck. One strike.
- 1:15:55Schauer and Boyer and Ford will be the Yankee batters here in the fifth inning.
- 1:16:01Moose right down on the end of the bat, waiting.
- 1:16:07This is the one strike pitch.
- 1:16:09Brown ball hit deep into the hole for Garnhuzet. The long throw to first, he is safe at first place.
- 1:16:15Schauer and Dived into the bag. I don't believe he's hurt, but he was trying to get there as fast as he could.
- 1:16:23He bounced the ball between third and short.
- 1:16:25Faghan racing over, got it on the big hop at the turn to make the long throw to first.
- 1:16:31Not in time to get Schauer. That's just second hit.
- 1:16:35George, I don't think there ain't no problem.
- 1:16:37I'm surprised that his series so far has been the range of Faghan.
- 1:16:40He's just been tremendous out there.
- 1:16:42He took a base hit away from Howin and a ball now hit the hole by Schauer.
- 1:16:46He just about had him at first place.
- 1:16:48Here's Kledis Boyer. He swings and hits a high fly ball at his curving foul.
- 1:16:53He's going to be out of play over behind the giant dugout.
- 1:16:58One strike to Boyer.
- 1:17:00Kledes 0-for-1 in this game. He flyed the right field his first time at bat.
- 1:17:07It's a 2-0 ball game. We're in the bottom of the fifth inning. The giants are out in front.
- 1:17:14Schauer in at first base with no one out.
- 1:17:19Bullen gets set. Here's the pitch.
- 1:17:22Strike 2. He got the fast ball over. Boyer was ready to butt.
- 1:17:25Bullen got back and got the call. Strike.
- 1:17:30Davenport was playing deep at third base and Boyer was going to take advantage of it.
- 1:17:39Kledes had two hits in the series. He swings and hits one up the middle. It's in the center field.
- 1:17:44Here's Schauer in around second. He's going for third. Here's Mayes throwing in the second base.
- 1:17:49Willey started to go to third with it and held up and threw it in the second.
- 1:17:54Go back to Max Singles here in the fifth inning.
- 1:17:59And the Yankees have runners at first and third with no one out.
- 1:18:03Well, the Yankees threatening here in the bottom of the fifth. They trail in this ball game 2-0.
- 1:18:082-0. No one out.
- 1:18:12There's action in the bullpen for the giants, but we cannot see the bullpen from here.
- 1:18:16He fits to fourth. He swings and pops it up behind the plate.
- 1:18:19So we ought to play one strike to Leite.
- 1:18:28Cross-setting. Here's Stockinis-Stowren going over the play.
- 1:18:31He wants him to come in on the ground ball to get away from the double play, but all possible.
- 1:18:35Although it's short and third, they're laying back. Davenport's in closer third.
- 1:18:38And the Pato course is holding the base runner closer to base.
- 1:18:42Bob Bowlin taking a little time right now. It gets his sign.
- 1:18:45Now he makes a token toss over to first base.
- 1:18:52Boyer's at first base. Schauer in third with no one out. The giants lead 2-0.
- 1:18:57The pitch to fourth is a ground ball to first base.
- 1:19:01Here's a throw now by the fate of the third. They've got the runner, Schauer, in trap between third and home.
- 1:19:06They're running him down and he's tagged out. The other runners move up.
- 1:19:12They picked up the big bases, George. They got exactly what they wanted.
- 1:19:16And a little bit of a bonus is Boyer raced all the way around to third base,
- 1:19:20when Davenport had to chase Schauer and towards home.
- 1:19:23And 1-4 trailing the play picked up second.
- 1:19:26So now they've got second and third with only one out. The double play situation has been removed.
- 1:19:32The sacrifice five picked up a big one. And the base tip ties it up.
- 1:19:37So the Yankees with the ground ball picked up actually three bases in the process.
- 1:19:44Runners at second and third with one out.
- 1:19:50The giants leading 2-0. Tony Kuback to batter.
- 1:19:57So fate almost and a while throw to third. Davenport had to scoop it out of the dirt.
- 1:20:04Here's Kuback. He's 0-1 in this game. Here's the pitch.
- 1:20:08Ground ball hit to the third baseman. It gets away from Davenport. Everybody's going to be safe.
- 1:20:17No run coming in. The runner at third base, Boyer had to hold on.
- 1:20:22As Davenport would have been ready to make a play on him.
- 1:20:27So the bases are loaded with one out. And Jimmy Davenport was trying to short hop.
- 1:20:35The ball off the bat of Kuback and he got away from him. He had to make it on an in-between play.
- 1:20:43So Bobby Richardson will step in with the bases loaded and one out.
- 1:20:54Bobby's 0-1 in this game. Here's Bolin's first pitch. Ground ball fouled on the first baseline.
- 1:21:00Bobby checked his swing. Yankees have a bases loaded with one out. The giants lead 2-0.
- 1:21:10Richardson waiting. Bolin ready. Here's the pitch.
- 1:21:15He swings and hits a ground ball to the second baseman. Hillard steps on the back.
- 1:21:19He throws the first to double play.
- 1:21:38Bobby Richardson bounced on to Hillard near the back at second. He stepped on second flip to first in-time for the double play.
- 1:21:45No runs on two hits. One air in the inning. Two men left. And the score at the end of five.
- 1:21:51The giants 2 and the Yankees nothing.
- 1:21:54Well some fine pitching by Bob Bolin. There in the jam in the fifth inning as the Yankees had runners at first and third with no one out.
- 1:22:01And he pitched out of it without a run.
- 1:22:06After nothing, the giants lead as we go into the sixth inning. Willie Mays will lead off.
- 1:22:11Followed by Fully-Fallu and then Orlando Sepeta.
- 1:22:15Big sign on the scoreboard says Marischal introduced right index finger trying to buck.
- 1:22:21The pitch to Mays is a ground ball to the shark stock. Two back passes to flip the first be down.
- 1:22:27Willie Mays goes down. Shark to first. One away. And the batter will be Fully-Fallu.
- 1:22:35Without a double in two trips today. He doubled and scored a run in the second inning.
- 1:22:39Get into a double play in the fourth inning.
- 1:22:46Board gets ready. The first pitch. Strike a fastball in at the knees.
- 1:22:52The giants have two runs, five hits and one air. Yankees no runs on four hits and they have no errors.
- 1:23:03Here's the one strike pitch. Slow curvy.
- 1:23:09Went all the way around and lost his helmet on that one.
- 1:23:15We're in the top of the sixth inning. There's one out with no one on. Two to nothing. The giants lead.
- 1:23:24Board gets ready. The two strike pitch. Inside. One ball, two strikes.
- 1:23:31All the scoring in this game coming back in the second inning on a two run homer by Tom Howler, the catcher for the giants.
- 1:23:43Whitey checks the sign. Here's the one two pitch. He swings and hits the batter to the shark. Two back passes.
- 1:23:51The long court at first. He's out. Fully-Fallu goes down. Two back to Scoward.
- 1:23:58Two down and the batter will be Sepeta. Orlando bounced to the shortstop in the second inning.
- 1:24:08In the fourth inning he flyed to right field. Here's the pitch.
- 1:24:16The curve ball. Get on the ground. The first base. Scoward has it stepped on the wagon. The player is out. The giants go out. One, two, three. No runs, no hits, no errors. No one left.
- 1:24:28The score at the end of the first half of sixth inning. The giants two and the Yankees nothing.
- 1:24:32When you look at that one, what kind is it? That, my friend, is a 63 Dodge. I'll take it.
- 1:24:40The defendable 1963 Dodge. The beautiful way to go in the low-priced field. Dodge is a full six inches longer than last year with a broader lower hood.
- 1:24:50A canopy roof that extends over the rear window to protect you from the rays of the sun. A longer, deeper trunk.
- 1:24:56And the 63 Dodge is richly tailored inside. Interior cloth fabrics are made of 100% nylon work.
- 1:25:04The coloring wheels match 33 different trim color combinations. Inside, outside, in every detail, the new Dodge is the beautiful way to go in the low-priced field.
- 1:25:14See them at your Dodge dealers, the 1963 Dodge dependables. A product of Chrysler Corporation.
- 1:25:20Wear quality. Engineer, come into every car.
- 1:25:30Are we going to the bottom of the sixth inning? The giants are out in front by a score of 2 to nothing.
- 1:25:36Tom Trash will be the lead-off man for the Yankees. He'll be followed by Mickey Mantle and the Roger Marys.
- 1:25:43Bob Bowen during the pitching for the giants, he came on in the fifth inning.
- 1:25:48Pitching in place of Juan Marachal, the starting pitcher. Juan injured his finger. Attempting a burn.
- 1:25:54Trash has had a single and two trips in this ballgame. Here's the first pitch. He tries to bump, but he missed it. One strike.
- 1:26:08Tommy was going to drag one down the first baseline. He's a switch hitter.
- 1:26:14Adding left-handed against Bowen. Well, Tom is called here, Joe. That looks like Billy O'Dell going to the bullpen.
- 1:26:25Exactly who it is, George. I just wonder if he's going to lose enough with Dan Demarra. Alvin's going to use him today.
- 1:26:29But in any way, time is calling. O'Dell rushes to the bullpen and he's left center field.
- 1:26:41A one strike count to Tom Trash. Bowen ready. Here's the pitch. He swings and misses. Strike two.
- 1:26:48This fellow Bowen has thrown nothing but strikes since coming on.
- 1:26:54He's got a strike two count on about four batters.
- 1:27:01Taking a little time now as he looks in. Here's the pitch. Bow ball.
- 1:27:07This will be out of play. It's coming back in the upper deck. Still strike two.
- 1:27:11Even with a two-strike no-ball count, George, he's around that place.
- 1:27:15He's not wasting any of where they can swing.
- 1:27:21A two-to-nothing ballgame here in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Giants lead the Yankees.
- 1:27:26The pitch to Tom Trash. He swings and misses.
- 1:27:32One away and the batter will be Mickey Mannel. Mickey's over two in this game. He's stuck out both times.
- 1:27:43Tom Hallow moving out to the mound once again saying something to Bowen.
- 1:27:47Probably reminding him how they found a pitch Mickey today.
- 1:27:51This will be Bowen's first time to face Mickey.
- 1:27:54To continue the same batter, it'll be strikes against strikes. Mannel a good fastball hitter against Bowen who has been throwing nothing but fastballs.
- 1:28:02Here's the first pitch. Change of face. Outside. One ball and a strike.
- 1:28:11The Giants are deep and around to the right for Mickey.
- 1:28:16Strong left-handed batter against the right-hander. Here's the one at no-pitch.
- 1:28:20Another change-up. It's outside. Ball two and a strike.
- 1:28:24The first two change-ups Joe we've seen. He's been burning the fastball, but against Mickey he has gone to the change of pace.
- 1:28:31Maristell had struck Mannel out twice with the slow curveball, so we're trying to get him with the slow stuff. Bowen is missed and missed badly.
- 1:28:38Here's the two and no-pitch. Fastball. It's inside. Three and out of Mickey.
- 1:28:46Roger Marist is in the on-deck circle. The Giants leading two to nothing. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- 1:28:57Bowen taking a little time as he looks in. Here's a three and no-pitch. Strike. He got a fastball in around the knees.
- 1:29:07He's got a fastball three and strike one. One out with no one on here in the sixth inning.
- 1:29:19Here's a three and one-pitch. Outside. Another change-up and Mannel draws a base on ball.
- 1:29:26So the Yankees are running at first base. One out and Roger Marist about it.
- 1:29:34Here's the center and bounce the first base in two trips. The attendance, just being announced here today, 66,607.
- 1:29:4566,607 here today.
- 1:29:58Bowen comes to a set position and the pitch to Marist. A foul ball down the left field line. He's been curving back into the crowd. One strike.
- 1:30:08I know it's tough on those fielders, Joe, because some of these foul balls, when they leave the bat, they have to take a double look at them to find them.
- 1:30:19Excuse me, guys. I was going to say, his white shirt don't help anything much.
- 1:30:23Here's the pitch. Strike two. Fastball right around the knee. Two strikes to Roger Marist.
- 1:30:33This has been a familiar pitching pattern for Bob Bowen. He's getting two quick strikes over to most of these batters.
- 1:30:40Chuck's his runner at first base. Now he makes a throw to first. Make you back in time.
- 1:30:51Marist getting out of the box for just a moment. Here's the pitch. Outside and that one was close. One ball, two strikes.
- 1:31:00What's an amazing thing to see these pitchers keeping that ball on the outside part of the plate to these big left-handed batters.
- 1:31:07Marist, Mannell, looking for something on the inside they can pull into these right field seats. They're just not getting it from the giant pitchers.
- 1:31:16Here's another throw to first, just a token toss reminding Mannell that he's keeping an eye on him.
- 1:31:25Bowen gets that. Here's the pitch. Outside again. Two and two to Marist.
- 1:31:32Mannell at first base, one out here in the sixth inning. The giant's lead, two to nothing.
- 1:31:37There's been much nicking and shooting for the corners. Bowen has just been trying to get that fast ball. He's outside part of the plate. That's the only spot he wants and he's got a good one.
- 1:31:49Here's another throw to first base. Make you back.
- 1:31:56A ground ball to shortstop here would be a base hit. There's nobody in the shortstop position. Davenport is wide at a bag at 30, between third and short.
- 1:32:06Marist, way outside with it. Almost got by the catcher. Three and two to Marist.
- 1:32:12Now we'll check Mannell to see if he's moving on this pitch. Three, two, with one out.
- 1:32:19Bob Bowen got two quick strikes on Roger Marist. Now he's missed with the next three.
- 1:32:25He's done it with his fast ball. The only pitch he's been able to get is the strikes on his first fast ball.
- 1:32:31Bob taking a little time as he checks his runner, the bitch. Down low he walks in.
- 1:32:36Roger Marist goes a lot.
- 1:32:39The Yankees have two on with one out and here's Al Doric racing out of the dugout.
- 1:32:45Bowen has been in a lot of trouble since coming into this game.
- 1:32:51Yankees threatened in the fifth inning. They had runners at first and third with no one out.
- 1:32:55Later the base is loaded with one out and failed to score. And here in the sixth inning they have runners at first and second with one out.
- 1:33:03Roger based on balls will make that manager do quite well at any time, but in that sixth, seventh and eighth and ninth inning especially,
- 1:33:10that's when that based on balls will really make them jump up and down in that dugout.
- 1:33:14The dark came out of there like a jack out of the box.
- 1:33:19Alston Howard the batter. Bowen ready. Here's the pitch. He swings and bounces at foul from rolling behind the plate. One strike.
- 1:33:28L.A. has bounced to the shortstop and struck out in two traps.
- 1:33:32Bagan made a great play on him back in the second inning as he drilled one up the middle.
- 1:33:36Jose raced over, knocked it down, recovered in time to get him at first base.
- 1:33:44A one strike count. Man on the second base, Marys at first. Here's the pitch. He swings and fouls it back.
- 1:33:52Coming back into the crowd.
- 1:33:55The outfield defense against Howard is a bit unique in that Philippe Arlou is pretty much straight away,
- 1:34:00maybe even shading towards the left of your line while May's with a two strike count has taken a couple more steps.
- 1:34:06Over towards right center, making it Howard will probably cut down on his swing with a two strike count.
- 1:34:10There's a lot of room in left center field. Bowen gets up.
- 1:34:15The pitch to Howard. He swings and hits a foul ball in the right center. Harvey Keene is over there. It makes the cut.
- 1:34:21Arnold tagged up, but held on. Alston Howard flying to Keene so there's two outs.
- 1:34:28And the batter will be Bill Scott.
- 1:34:38Howard has had two hits and two trips. He tripled in the second, singled in the fifth.
- 1:34:43Giant's leading two to nothing here in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Yankees have two on with two outs.
- 1:34:50Moves a big right-handed batter right down the end of the bat. Bowen delivers. He swings and misses.
- 1:34:57All around the world. One strike. Arm's strike. He opened the inning by striking out. Madel and May are supposed to walk.
- 1:35:08Alston Howard has just fly to Keene in right field.
- 1:35:14There's the pitch to Skyron. As it is fast, so about to the right. Moose is trying to get out of the way.
- 1:35:19The right-side fast ball. Bowen's strike two. All the scoring in this ball game coming back in the second inning.
- 1:35:30A two-round homer out the bat of Tom Haller of the Giants. Bob Bowen checks the runners. Here's the pitch.
- 1:35:42Ball way up high with a fast ball. One and two to Moose. Two on, two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- 1:35:53Giants have out-hit the Yankees five to four. Bowen takes a little down. Gets the sign. Here's the one-two pitch.
- 1:36:08All the top half. Two and two, Moose. Howard is having just a bit of trouble picking up that ball on the two-strikes.
- 1:36:16No ball counts. The high inside pitch is caught in his weapon. In this one, he caught in his weapon.
- 1:36:21He could see as he walked out in front of home plays that he was just trying to take in a personal inventory to settle down a bit.
- 1:36:28Giants weren't complaining after the ball game yesterday about the people in San Jose or a tough background to hit end-set.
- 1:36:35Here's the two-two pitch. Inside a fast ball, a push-and-back. Three and two to Skarn. That means the runners will be moving.
- 1:36:44They have a large curtain here in center field that they leave up during the regular season.
- 1:36:50They don't have these big clouds, but with a capacity house, they have to let the curtain down so the people can see the ball game through there.
- 1:36:57And that gives a bad background for the batters as they're looking into a bunch of white shirts out there today.
- 1:37:04Bow and set. Here's the three-two pitch. He swings it, hits a ground ball, it's in the left field.
- 1:37:10Hit the line coming in. There comes way the third. He'll hold up.
- 1:37:14Skarn hit a ground ball just out of the race of the gun in the left field.
- 1:37:20It's a two-to-one ball game. Here are the Giants.
- 1:37:23Now this is a routine ground ball by Skarn just out of the race of the gun.
- 1:37:36Jose and all of shortstop play Skarn well over towards the back.
- 1:37:41It's stuck him because he hits a lot in the right field.
- 1:37:43For most batters, it would have been a routine play, but Skarn just couldn't get it.
- 1:37:47He died for the ball trying to knock it down to save the run, but it went in the left field.
- 1:37:52That's a two-to-one game, run as it first and third to Alton here, sweet Boyer.
- 1:37:57Bow and delivers. He swings it, and the line is the left field.
- 1:38:01Boyer hits the right field, the left field.
- 1:38:04Now Bow and went through a three-two down Skarn, and two pictures later it's a brand new ball game.
- 1:38:24Skarn bounced the single in the left, scoring model, and sweet Boyer hit the first pitch,
- 1:38:29a line drive between third and short in the left.
- 1:38:35It's all tied in two-to and Joe, and I think we're going to get a pitching change.
- 1:38:38Looks that way Alton is out there enjoying the homely times he's had on the bench.
- 1:38:43I know I've heard a billion times, I've had to try to explain it a few million times
- 1:38:47about the base on balls from the fifth inning on, and they've come home to really hot here.
- 1:38:52And the base on balls from Maryland, the base on balls from Roger Mast, who runs it up on that scoreboard.
- 1:39:23Join us, take a look at the ball fan. Don Lysen is coming in to pitch here for the San Francisco Giants.
- 1:39:32Big down making his way in. Alton Dike is still on the mound waiting for Lysen.
- 1:39:38Tom Howard is out along with Bob Bowlin. So it's all tied up here.
- 1:39:42Two-to the base on balls have come home, and while Lysen gets to the mound,
- 1:39:47he will pause right now 30 seconds for station identification.
- 1:39:52This is WGY's Connectedee. You know it takes a special something extra to be a major league ball player,
- 1:39:58or anything else that rates as the very best. Take Saratoga Vichy for instance.
- 1:40:03Saratoga's naturally good, naturally lively spring fresh flavor, as that extra snap and extra sparkle to every drink.
- 1:40:11In fact, Saratoga Vichy has such extra tantalizing flavor. Well, it's delicious all by itself.
- 1:40:17Next time you get that great big thirst, enjoy the extra satisfaction you get only from Saratoga Vichy with the yellow label.
- 1:40:26Coming on to pitch here in the sixth inning, the Yankees have tied the score.
- 1:40:31Two-to, they have runners at first and second, two out, 24 to dead due to being the batter,
- 1:40:37you hear the tremendous roar going up here in the stadium, and Yogi Berra is coming out of the dugout.
- 1:40:42They're back for Whitey Ford.
- 1:40:49Yogi played in the second game of this world series, replacing Elston Howard, who injured his wrist sliding home in the first game.
- 1:40:56That's the only action Yogi has seen in the series.
- 1:40:59He's coming on the bat, with 30 seconds, two outs for the ball game all tied in two-to.
- 1:41:07Ryson are right heavily on that slider and Yogi a good inside hitter,
- 1:41:11and look at that infield, Yogi's playing way back on the right side, open to knock that ball down, and it prevents Tower from scoring.
- 1:41:22Don Ryson, look again, and follows in the ball game out here yesterday for the chance.
- 1:41:28The pitch to Berra, wall, outside, one ball and a strike.
- 1:41:33As Joe told you, there's an old saying in baseball, every time you walk a batter, he'll come around to score.
- 1:41:39Bob Bowlin, more two batters here in the sixth than they both scored, Mannel and Meras.
- 1:41:45Singles off the bat of Scowern and Boyer driving in the runs.
- 1:41:52Ryson checks his runners.
- 1:41:54The pitch to Berra, he swings and fouls it off, this one going into the upper deck beyond the giant dugout.
- 1:42:01One ball, one strike.
- 1:42:03The Yankees two and the Giants two, we're in the sixth inning.
- 1:42:11Juan Mara Schaal started this game for San Francisco, he entered his finger in the fifth inning, he had to leave.
- 1:42:16Bob Bowlin came on in the fifth, and now Don Larson relieving him here in the sixth inning.
- 1:42:22And we just received word that Billy O'Dell, a left hander, has been throwing in the bullpen.
- 1:42:27Billy is scheduled to pitch tomorrow for the chance, but he's throwing today.
- 1:42:32Jim Poats is throwing in the Yankee bullpen.
- 1:42:35Here's the pitch, ball, outside, ball two and strike one.
- 1:42:40We'll be getting a new pitcher for the Yankees in the seventh inning.
- 1:42:44It's a two-one count to Yogi Berra.
- 1:42:49Boyer's at first base, scouring, it's second with two out.
- 1:42:53All tied at two and two.
- 1:42:59Larson taking a lot of time.
- 1:43:03Here's the two-one pitch.
- 1:43:05The batter ball, it's up, way up, high, low.
- 1:43:08Three and one to Berra.
- 1:43:14Yogi out of the box checking with Corsetti.
- 1:43:17But I would imagine it's just routine, Joe.
- 1:43:20The green light is on.
- 1:43:22I think if Corsetti would give him the sixth sign, Yogi's going through with this thing, right in the batter's box, George.
- 1:43:27I think he just looked out of curiosity to see what was going on down at third base.
- 1:43:32And I'm probably winking, Corsetti, to say, yeah, okay, bro.
- 1:43:37Yogi right down on the end of the bat, waiting.
- 1:43:41Here's the three-one pitch.
- 1:43:43Serve ball.
- 1:43:44Did he swing he did with Jim Larson?
- 1:43:47Yogi doesn't like to call it.
- 1:43:49He will.
- 1:43:50It's something to honor, Dick.
- 1:43:52He wouldn't know why, whether it was a call strike or whether he swung at it.
- 1:43:56Yogi started his swing and Larson came up with quite a pitch to let out curve ball.
- 1:44:01Yogi, to say, was looking for the fast ball.
- 1:44:03He went left to shoot and then tried to hold up, then on a check, over the strike.
- 1:44:09You know that was a big pitch for Larson because now, if he curved him on the three-one,
- 1:44:14Yogi don't know on the three-two, he might throw another curve.
- 1:44:17Change of anything.
- 1:44:18He's done a second, all right.
- 1:44:21Well, the runners will be moving.
- 1:44:22That's for sure.
- 1:44:23Three, two, and two outs.
- 1:44:24Larson ready?
- 1:44:25Here it is.
- 1:44:26Serve ball.
- 1:44:27It's outside.
- 1:44:28There are also base on balls, so the base is loaded.
- 1:44:33With two outs and the batter will be Tony Kubeck.
- 1:44:38Tony has walked, climbed the center, and stayed on there.
- 1:44:43It's over two, officially.
- 1:44:47Yogi's a picked up two here in the sixth inning.
- 1:44:49It's all tied, it's two and two.
- 1:44:51They're still pressing with the base, it's loaded.
- 1:44:54Don Larson, a big right-hander looking in to get the side.
- 1:45:00He fits the Kubeck, he swings and misses on a curved ball.
- 1:45:04One strike.
- 1:45:07Tony's a tall, slender left-handed batter.
- 1:45:10He's bet most of this season in the Army getting out in early August.
- 1:45:19A one strike count.
- 1:45:20A two strike count.
- 1:45:23Cheyenne straight away, not too deep.
- 1:45:26Here's a pitch.
- 1:45:27He swings and misses.
- 1:45:36That was no pitcher for the Yankees in the seventh inning.
- 1:45:40Yogi Barra batting for Whitey Ford.
- 1:45:44Ford cannot be the losing pitcher in this game,
- 1:45:47and he could be the winning pitcher if the Yankees should fit the run-up here and stay in front.
- 1:45:53Larson ready, here it is.
- 1:45:55Upside, that's a ball, rolling away.
- 1:45:58One ball, two strikes.
- 1:46:03Barra's at first base, Boyard's second, Scow in at third with two outs.
- 1:46:07One ball, two strikes, Kubeck.
- 1:46:13Tony waiting on Larson.
- 1:46:15Here's the pitch.
- 1:46:16Another ball, hit on the ground with a second base.
- 1:46:18The fader cuts it off, here's the throw to Larson, he does.
- 1:46:21Yellow is ready to field round,
- 1:46:23and the fader cut in front of him,
- 1:46:24and he's put it off on the big hop,
- 1:46:25turning through to Larson,
- 1:46:27and down to the out on Kubeck.
- 1:46:30Two runs in the inning, on two hits.
- 1:46:33Nowhere a free-band left,
- 1:46:35and the score is the end of sixth,
- 1:46:36the Yankees two and the Giants two.
- 1:46:39Have you heard about the automobile industry's first five-year or 50,000 mile warranty?
- 1:46:43Five years? 50,000 miles?
- 1:46:46That's right, it's the warranty now offered on 1963 Chrysler Corporation cars.
- 1:46:51What does it cover?
- 1:46:52It covers the powertrain of your car,
- 1:46:54the expensive parts to repair or replace.
- 1:46:56Sounds terrific.
- 1:46:58It's the most significant warranty ever offered on an automobile.
- 1:47:01Your dealer will be glad to explain his new warranty,
- 1:47:03another first from Chrysler Corporation.
- 1:47:05Stay tuned for details later in this game.
- 1:47:07At the end of sixth, the Yankees have two runs on six hits in the race.
- 1:47:11The Giants have two runs on five hits, and they've made one error.
- 1:47:15The error did not contribute to the scoring in this ballgame,
- 1:47:18although it put the Giants in a hole back in the fifth inning.
- 1:47:22We're getting a new pitcher for the Yankees here in the seventh inning.
- 1:47:25It'll be Jim Cote, the tall friend of right-hander.
- 1:47:28Mighty Ford going out for the pinch batter, and the bottom of the sixth inning there,
- 1:47:33batted for him and drew a walk.
- 1:47:38Now while we're waiting for Cote to take his warm-up toss,
- 1:47:41let's pause 30 seconds here for our station identification.
- 1:47:47This is WGY's Connected A.
- 1:47:49You know, it takes a special time to get to the bottom of the sixth inning,
- 1:47:52and it's a great opportunity to get to the bottom of the sixth inning.
- 1:47:55WGY's Connected A. You know, it takes a special something extra
- 1:47:59to be a major league ballplayer, or anything else that rates as the very best.
- 1:48:03Take Saratoga Vichy, for instance.
- 1:48:05Saratoga's naturally good, naturally lively spring fresh flavor
- 1:48:09adds that extra snap and extra sparkle in every drink.
- 1:48:13In fact, Saratoga Vichy has such extra tantalizing flavor,
- 1:48:18it's delicious all by itself.
- 1:48:20Next time you get that great big thirst,
- 1:48:22enjoy the extra satisfaction you get only from Saratoga Vichy with the yellow label.
- 1:48:31I'm Howard, and the short stop, Jose Pagod.
- 1:48:33George just declared his order with a coach coming out of both,
- 1:48:36and I wonder who's the captain now, but Daly and Marshall Bridges,
- 1:48:39they got a big thing going out there, that both,
- 1:48:41and who's the captain, and the coach is out of there now.
- 1:48:44They might have had an election.
- 1:48:46One vote for Daly and one for Bridges.
- 1:48:49It's all tied, it won one.
- 1:48:52Here's Davenport, he struck out his first time at bat,
- 1:48:55bounced to the short stop in the fifth inning, in so for two.
- 1:48:59The coach gets ready, and the first pitch is a curve, a five.
- 1:49:02One ball, no strike.
- 1:49:05The Giants got two in the second, the Yankees tied it with two in the sixth.
- 1:49:14Jim taking a long look in.
- 1:49:17Here's the one in O-pitch, fast ball is down low.
- 1:49:21A ball, two and a no strike count.
- 1:49:26The starting pitchers have departed the scene,
- 1:49:29Juan Marshall, for the Giants, and Whitey Ford for the Yankees.
- 1:49:34The pitchers of record right now, Jim coached for the Yankees,
- 1:49:37and Don Lachlan for the Giants.
- 1:49:41Here's the two in O-pitch, ball is inside,
- 1:49:44and the third out at Davenport.
- 1:49:47The big catcher, Tom Howler is in the on-deck circle.
- 1:49:54Half of a seventh inning, no one out, no one on.
- 1:50:00Coach gets ready.
- 1:50:02Here's the three in O-pitch, strike, he got a fast ball over.
- 1:50:06Davenport, of course, taking all the way on that one.
- 1:50:09Trying to work his way on there.
- 1:50:12A ball three and a strike one count.
- 1:50:15The lights have been on here at Yankee Stadium,
- 1:50:18it's about the third inning.
- 1:50:20Here's the pitch, ball is, and he almost hit him with a three one.
- 1:50:25Davenport, on the walk.
- 1:50:29Bring up the catcher, Tom Howler.
- 1:50:35Tom's had two hits and two trips.
- 1:50:38He's got a two run home in the second inning, single in the fifth inning.
- 1:50:43Three boyers, the third baseman has moved into the mound
- 1:50:46for a short conversation with Coach.
- 1:50:53Boyer's in close, but I would imagine the Yankees are not looking for the run.
- 1:50:58Here's a strike, a fast ball over the outside corner.
- 1:51:03With the eighth and ninth place hitters coming up for the Giants.
- 1:51:07Boyer is just being careful when he is in close.
- 1:51:11Cube back and Richardson playing back,
- 1:51:13Scarron holds against the runner at first base.
- 1:51:17Jim checks his runner, here's the pitch.
- 1:51:19Slow curve hit on the ground, it is foul.
- 1:51:22Scarron fielded the ball, stepped on the bag, he was going to throw down the second.
- 1:51:26Al Barlich said it was just outside the line,
- 1:51:29that was a tailor made double play for Scarron.
- 1:51:32But he reached across the line so it's a strike to count.
- 1:51:41Jose Pagan is waiting in the un-deck circle.
- 1:51:45Giants batting in the seventh inning, this game all tied at 2-2.
- 1:51:52Here's the pitch to Haller, a swing in the miss, he's looking at the fast ball by him around the base.
- 1:51:57Going away, and the batter will be Pagan, but Jose is going back to the dugout.
- 1:52:04Whether we're getting a pinch batter for him or not.
- 1:52:07Matty Allure that the batter at Georgia has gone to his helmet and he's trying to find a batter.
- 1:52:12So it looks like it'll be Matty Allure, the little left handed batter,
- 1:52:15to come in the batter for Pagan while Boyer and Elton Howard have a little bit of a conference on the mound with Jim Coates.
- 1:52:22Howard and Coates are going to bet on each other as to how they will pitch to Matty Allure,
- 1:52:28who will be the pinch batter coming out of the giant dugout.
- 1:52:34Matty Allure left handed hitter and batter, coming on here with a runner at first base and one out.
- 1:52:47Matty got into yesterday's ball game.
- 1:52:49Remember in yesterday's ball game Boyer was playing in on the grass and wide at third base
- 1:52:56and a little bit of a trap on by him, right through Boyer and Boyer had to wait for Bobby Richardson to come on over
- 1:53:02because Richardson as he is right now is protecting that hole between first and second.
- 1:53:07Now he has to hold the base runner close.
- 1:53:12There's a quick throw to first base.
- 1:53:14Davenport back in time. Marshall Bridges a left hander throwing in the bullpen for the Yankees.
- 1:53:22Here's a pitch to Allure. Curve, it's in the dirt.
- 1:53:24Howard makes a nice stop. He blocks the ball and rolled out in front of the plate.
- 1:53:28No chance for Davenport to move up. One ball and a strike.
- 1:53:34Davenport opened the sending of the waltz.
- 1:53:36Howard, that was a strikeout victim.
- 1:53:38And now Matty Allure a left handed batter coming on for Jose Pagán.
- 1:53:46Boyer is playing about six or seven steps in front of the bag at third base.
- 1:53:51He's right in on the grass, practically shaking hands with Allure, protecting against the box.
- 1:53:58Matty a very fast face runner.
- 1:54:01There's the one in Opetz.
- 1:54:03Bowled ball down the left field line. And Matty Joe, as you said, trying to swap that ball by Boyer at third base.
- 1:54:09Boyer, in addition to that, I'm sure George, is checking against the front, is challenging Allure by coming in just tapping him to hit that way, daring him more or less.
- 1:54:18And he got away with it yesterday. He's right in on the grass.
- 1:54:24Jim Coates trying to get him out here in the seventh inning.
- 1:54:27Giants two in the Yankees two. A runner at first base with one out. Coates gets set.
- 1:54:34Here's the pitch. Ball outside. Ball two in strike one.
- 1:54:41Matty taking a little time now as he takes a couple of turns around the batter's box.
- 1:54:46They should join this way. The Giants got two runs in the second inning. The Yankees picked up two in the sixth.
- 1:54:57Giants now batting in the seventh inning. Jim Coates pitching in relief of Whitey Ford.
- 1:55:04Here's the two-on-pitch. He swings the misses. Ball two and two to Matty Allure.
- 1:55:20Sort of a war of nerves going on here between Allure and Coates. Matty taking a lot of time between pitches.
- 1:55:27As he gets ready, then Coates is off the river.
- 1:55:30Boyard checking with the Dundon as to where they want him to play. He just dropped back and whined to the bat.
- 1:55:37Jim gets set. Here's the pitch.
- 1:55:40Ground ball down the left field line. Boyard's going to be trouble. Here's the hole on his way to second.
- 1:55:46Down and points to third base and he'll hold up at third. Matty Allure bounce one.
- 1:55:50Boyard third base down the left field line. And the Giants have runners at second and third with one out.
- 1:55:57George with two strikes, he's dropped back and went wide down. Instructions on the Dundon and that's where Matty a little hit it between Boyard and the bat.
- 1:56:06It looks like Ed Bailey is coming out of the Giants' Dundon and he'll be the finch hitter for the pitcher, Larson.
- 1:56:17You're right, Joe. Here's Ed Bailey coming out, swinging a couple of bats.
- 1:56:21He's going to be batting for John Larson and the Giants are threatening. Here's the seven-threading. Two on with one out.
- 1:56:33Here's Ralph House, the Yankee manager bouncing out of the dugout.
- 1:56:38He might bring a left hander on, Joe. He's had him warm enough but he waited until Bailey was announced before he came out of that dugout and the way he's walking out there.
- 1:56:46He's going to make a move, George. He's indicated he wants the left hander that he brought in and Larson-Fritz has been warming up.
- 1:56:59Jim Cox is leaving the ball game and we're going to get a new pitcher.
- 1:57:02As far as the Giants are concerned with the right-hander's finch hitters, just a couple of them. Bob Neiman is still on the bench.
- 1:57:10John Larson is still on the bench. It's a huge finch hitter.
- 1:57:17A lot of wheels spinning here. We're all tied up here.
- 1:57:20The Yankees two runs and six hits, no errors while the Giants have two runs, six hits and one error.
- 1:57:27For John, a finch hitter was used for him. That's a good spot and Matty Hallow came through.
- 1:57:33Davin Ford opened with that base on balls and there it is again, George. That's quite wheelchelling, boy.
- 1:57:40They'll spin those managers, quit them anything I know.
- 1:57:42That base on balls is a third base right now with one out. Matty Hallow is down at second and Mark Show Bridges.
- 1:57:48The left-handed pitcher is coming on here in the seventh inning.
- 1:57:51Bailey has gone back to the dugout so more than likely we're going to get a right-handed finch hitter in place of Bailey.
- 1:57:59Joe told you Bob Neiman is over there. It's going to be Burley Bob. He's bouncing out of the dugouts in a couple of war clubs.
- 1:58:10Davin Ford opened the setting with a walk. Tom Howard then struck out.
- 1:58:15Matty Hallow batting for a Pagan after getting two strikes on him, bounced a ground ball between Boyer and the Bragg into the corner and left field,
- 1:58:24sending Davin Ford the third. Hallow winding up at second base.
- 1:58:28And Bailey was announced as the pinch batter for Larson. That brought out manager Ralph Hout who wants a left-handed pitcher.
- 1:58:35He's brought him on, Marshall Bridges, and with a switch in pitching here, Al Dark has brought a right-handed batter on Bob Neiman to base the left-handed.
- 1:58:46So we'll watch to see how the Yankees play this.
- 1:58:50This game all tied at 2-2 and Hout, of course, does not want to give up a run here if he can help it in the early part of the ball game.
- 1:58:57He might play as infield back and give up a run, but here, in the seventh inning, runs are very precious.
- 1:59:08Here's the announcement coming over to the PAs system.
- 1:59:11But Bob Neiman, number 20, will be batting for Ed Bailey.
- 1:59:15Bailey, who made the long trip in from the ball fin to the bench, now is going back to the ball fin, where he's still be available to warm up the pitchers.
- 1:59:30Well, Bridges has completed his warm-up tosses. We're ready to go.
- 1:59:35Boyer is playing in close to third base.
- 1:59:39And Bob Scouron is in close at first, and they're going to give the intentional pass to Neiman, that's the reason for the delay.
- 1:59:47Neiman is going to be walked intentionally. They want to pitch the Harvey Keane here, so it's a possible double play at any base.
- 2:00:00Bridges getting ready.
- 2:00:02Here's ball four outside, and Neiman is giving them the intentional pass.
- 2:00:09So Harvey Keane, the batter with the bases loaded and one out.
- 2:00:13Ernie Bowman is coming in to run for Bob Neiman. Ernie Bowman and infield, they will replace Bob Neiman in third base as defense player.
- 2:00:21They've got pretty good speed on the bases with Bowman in third base defense runner for Neiman, Matty Lewis second and Davenport in third base.
- 2:00:29One out and Harborson in third base.
- 2:00:33Harvey Keane stepping in. The bases loaded, one out. The ball game all tied at 2-2. Here's the pitch to Keane.
- 2:00:41Ball, it's down low.
- 2:00:43One ball and a strike. Boyer is in close at third.
- 2:00:47Rest of the infield back. They're going for the double play on Keane.
- 2:00:53Why is she getting ready? Here's the pitch to Keane.
- 2:00:59High put fly on the infield. Boyer at third base is calling for it. The infield fly rule is in effect from Boyer mixed again.
- 2:01:07Harvey Keane pops to the third baseman.
- 2:01:11Oh, there's two outs, and the batter will be Chuck Hiller, the second baseman.
- 2:01:16Chuck's off at three in this game. All against Whitey Ford, he's lying to the shortstop, bounced the second and stuck out with the bases loaded in the fifth inning.
- 2:01:28So Bridges relieves the situation a little bit for the Yankees, hitting Keane on the pop-up.
- 2:01:35Now he's facing the left-handed hitting second baseman. Here's the pitch.
- 2:01:39Hiller swings the bases. He's trying to check up on a kick that he's gone before. One strike.
- 2:01:50Jim Bout in the right-hander and Aroya left-hander throwing for the Yankees in the bullfin.
- 2:01:55Here's the pitch to Hiller. Way outside and he's stopped by Elton Howard. One hand to pick up.
- 2:02:02One ball, one strike.
- 2:02:04Now Giants have loaded the bases here in the seventh inning. There's two outs.
- 2:02:09Marshall Bridges trying to get him out.
- 2:02:14Chuck's a sign with Elton Howard. Here's the one-two pitch.
- 2:02:19He swings a long bounce, and I feel it well hit.
- 2:02:23Here's back at the fastest dog.
- 2:02:53Chuck Hiller has just hit a grand slam home run for the Giants,
- 2:03:07letting the Giants out in front by a score of 6-2.
- 2:03:10Well-amazed about her. He swings and misses on the first pitch.
- 2:03:16Here's the pitch to May. A bouncing ball. Why the third?
- 2:03:19Boy, you're a good play. The third of first season.
- 2:03:22Well-amazed goes out. Turn to third.
- 2:03:25The Giants pick up four runs in the inning on two hits.
- 2:03:29Georgie's got some changes to make here.
- 2:03:31Elton Howard, Maddie Allure is replacing Keene in right field.
- 2:03:34Halfton's going out to check with Honecek, and Ernie Boeman is staying in the ballgame at shortstop.
- 2:03:39It's down for the third. Boeman at short.
- 2:03:42Hiller at second. Saffaded first base.
- 2:03:44Maddie Allure is in right field. Maze is in center field.
- 2:03:47Believer Allure is in left field. Maze is still a catcher, and Billy O'Dell has come out of that bullpen.
- 2:03:55And come on relief here. So Alvin Darker is not worried about tomorrow.
- 2:03:59He's going to win them one at a time.
- 2:04:06Well, it's six runs on seven hits and one error for the Giants.
- 2:04:09The Yankees have two runs on six hits, and they have no errors.
- 2:04:16Graham Slatter about the rookie second base from Schock-Eller.
- 2:04:24Here's the changes coming over the PA system.
- 2:04:27Boeman batting ninth and playing shortstop.
- 2:04:31Alou, of course, playing right field will have to bat in the number eight position as he bat at parpegón.
- 2:04:44Billy O'Dell will bat in the catcher's position.
- 2:04:47Here's the pitch to Bobby Richardson. He bumps its foul coming back into the sands. One strike.
- 2:04:53Richardson trash and mantle.
- 2:04:55There'll be the Yankee batters here in the seventh inning. They trail about four in this ballgame.
- 2:05:03O'Dell was a starting pitcher in the first ballgame for the Giants.
- 2:05:08Delivers here to Flanbaugh at the right. Alou going over. He's there. Makes the catch.
- 2:05:13Bobby Richardson. Flashed Alou in right field.
- 2:05:18One out, and the batter will be Tom Thresch.
- 2:05:22Tom will be batting right-handed against the left-hander O'Dell.
- 2:05:35Tom has had one hit today on three trips.
- 2:05:41Ready, delivers. Ball. It's inside. One ball, no strikes.
- 2:05:48A big four-run seventh inning has put the Giants in front. They broke the 2-2 deadlock.
- 2:05:55Here's the one and 0 pitch. Strike. He got a fast ball over.
- 2:05:59One and one to Thresch. He'll be farmed by a Mickey Mattle.
- 2:06:05He's about hit the Yankee seven to six. Here's the one-run pitch.
- 2:06:11Swing and a foul tip. About under the mid of power.
- 2:06:17One ball and two strikes. All the Giants scoring in this ballgame coming on home runs.
- 2:06:23Tom Haller. Had a two-run homer in the second inning.
- 2:06:28And Chuck Hiller, the grand slam homerun in the seventh. O'Dell looking in.
- 2:06:37Here's the one-two pitch. Down low. That'll even the count at two and two.
- 2:06:47We're in the bottom of the seventh. One out with no one on.
- 2:06:54O'Dell shaking off his arm before he gets 20 likes. Here it is.
- 2:06:58High pop fly down the right field line. Here's a low. And Hiller there. And Hiller makes the count.
- 2:07:06Just outside the line in foul territory. Chuck Hiller racing in front of Marty Haller to make the catch up for a battle. Tom Thresch.

- 2:14:41Dodge wanting a honor check to have a look at the baseball. Jim puts it out of play.
- 2:14:46They're putting new baseballs in but both catchers are rubbing them up again and are getting spots on them for their pitchers.

- 2:18:32O'Dell took a little off that one. A ball, two and a strike, two counts.
- 2:18:38For six to two ball game here in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Giants out in front of the Yankees.

- 2:20:11Well, it's a nice sitting here at Yankee Stadium. The Giants out in brought six to two.
- 2:20:18Mattie Alloux will be the lead off man. He'll be followed by a bullman.
- 2:20:26Here's the first pitch. Strike, he got a curve ball over. One strike to Mattie Alloux.
- 2:20:33And the pitcher, Billy O'Dell, will be the third batter. Here's a curve outside. One ball, one strike.
- 2:20:42Alloux had a double as all the time in bat. That was an appetiting roll in the seventh inning.
- 2:20:48Here's a bouncing ball to the shortstop. Cuback will have to hurry. Here's the throw. He is safe in first place.
- 2:20:57High hopper to the shortstop and Alloux beat it out for an infield single. Cuback made a good play.
- 2:21:04He rifled the ball over Skar, but not in time.
- 2:21:07How did Mattie Alloux really run, George? When that ball got up the guy that did, you knew it was going to be told of a Cuback.
- 2:21:12He gets away from that play in real good shape and with that extra speed that he has, it's a real job to try to get him.
- 2:21:19Ernie Bowman the shortstop's up again. Little right-handed batter. Here's the pitch.
- 2:21:25Ball down low. He squared around, ready to bun. One ball and no strikes.
- 2:21:33The runner at first base with no one out here in the ninth inning. Bridges gets set. Here's the pitch.
- 2:21:44There goes the runner. Here's a foul ball that will be out of play. The hit and run was on.
- 2:21:51Mattie Alloux was moving. Bowman fouled the pitch back. One ball, one strike.
- 2:22:02Ernie out of the box right now checking with Whitey Lachman at third base.
- 2:22:09Here's the pitch. He swings and hits a foul ball in the shallow right field.
- 2:22:13Mattie Alloux racing in over near the line. There he makes the catch. Bowman out on the flat right.
- 2:22:21He's looking at the pitcher. Billy O'Dell. Nice round of applause for Billy as he comes on.
- 2:22:32Yankees will be looking for the bun in this spot. The runner at first base with one out.
- 2:22:43Here's a throw to first base. Alloux back in time. Warrior is creeping in for third base. He's ready for the bun.
- 2:22:52Bridges ready. Here's the pitch. Strike. He got the curve ball over. Billy squared around. Ready to bun. Pulled it back. One strike.
- 2:23:01He better make sure he gets the scowl. I don't think they can advance if they punch it down a third base line.
- 2:23:06They're really charging on. Whitey Lachman is going to do some size. Maybe trying to set up a switch here. But boy, it doesn't believe it.
- 2:23:13He's still in very close. One strike count to O'Dell. Bridges ready. The pitch. He bunts and missed it.
- 2:23:24They're trying to push it down the first base line. Missed the ball. So it's a two strike count.
- 2:23:32Scowlin is charging in. But he has to come late as he's holding against the runner at first base.
- 2:23:38Of course, Boyer has nothing to do but move in on top of him and Cleet is still playing for the bun as he continues to come in close.
- 2:23:46Here's the pitch. Ball down low. He is ready to bun. Pulled the back back. One ball. Two strikes.
- 2:23:52O'Dell is checking with Whitey Lachman. He sees the bun is still on with two strikes.

- 2:24:10He bunts down the first base line. It's a good one. Bridges picks it up. Knows to first. O'Dell is up. A'Lew moves down the side.
- 2:24:18O'Dell is up. He's out. Pitcher in second base line.
- 2:24:26O'Dell is running second base. Two down. Here's Chuck Lerner getting a nice round of applause.
- 2:24:38The Giants are having a grand slam home run in the seventh inning. They broke the 2-2 tie.
- 2:24:43Left-hander against a left-hander. He gets the home run off Bridges in the seventh inning.
- 2:24:57Fair ball is inside. One ball and a strike.
- 2:25:07Marshall checks the side. Here's the one and no bitch. He swings it.
- 2:25:14The ball is like second. Bobby Richardson throws the first to keep the serve. A'Lew comes in the score. Bobby Richardson had to hurry to play on it. The ball was not in the mark. He threw it in the dirt. It's got Brian Scowick.
- 2:25:38There will be a single for O'Dellner and an error for Richardson. He'll get the home run. O'Dell will win.
- 2:25:48The batter is William Hage. The Bridges delivers a curve. He fouls it back. One strike.
- 2:25:58William has one hit today and four tricks. The second go back in the fourth inning. The Giants lead 7-2 here in the ninth inning.
- 2:26:13The pitch demays. The third ball up five. One ball, one strike. The Giants now have nine hits off Yankee pitching. That's the first Yankee error. Here's the bench.
- 2:26:33Willie swings and misses. One ball, two strikes. Willie checking with umpire Jim Ranaček probably asking if that pitch was higher there.
- 2:26:46One ball, two strikes. Heller at second base with two outs. Here's the pitch. Strike three, five. The pass ball over Willie's home run strikes. One run in the inning. One man left and the score at the end of the first half of the night.
- 2:27:04The Giants sell it on the Yankees too. Here are more details on the new warranty described earlier in this game. The new five-year or 50,000 mile warranty on 1963 Chrysler Corporation cars.
- 2:27:16This is the most important warranty ever offered on an automobile. It covers the powertrain, the workhorse of your car, the expensive parts to repair or replace.
- 2:27:25And the warranty is transferable if you sell the car. See your dealer for full details on the industry's first five-year or 50,000 mile warranty from Chrysler Corporation.
- 2:27:37It's close to 30 seconds here for station identification. This is WGY Schenectady. You know what's amazing how a major league team can snap back fast when it's down. Well, when you're feeling down, you too can snap right back with a cold sparkling refresher.
- 2:27:53Saratoga Vichy, instant pick-me-up time. So tantalizing, it's delicious all by itself. And Saratoga's nationally livelier spring-flesh flavor adds zip life and sparkle to every mixed drink.
- 2:28:07So for that finger snapping, toe tapping, taste and feeling, be sure it's Saratoga Vichy with the yellow label.
- 2:28:15Here's the first pitch. He swings and misses on a fastball one strike. It'll be Boyer, then Hector Lopez batting for the pitcher and Quebec in the bottom of the ninth inning.
- 2:28:30Ordale ready to pitch to Boyer. Ball ball right back on the screen, a strike two count. The Giants got two in the second, four in the seventh and one in the ninth, and the Yankees picked up their two runs in the sixth inning.
- 2:28:49Ordale ready the two strike pitch. Outside, one and two to Boyer. Three to send two hits today in three trips. He drove in the second Yankee run in the sixth inning with a single.
- 2:29:05Here's the pitch. He swings and fouls it back. It'll be out of play. Ball ball and two strikes.
- 2:29:15Don't forget the fifth game out here tomorrow afternoon will be on the air at 12.45 Eastern Standard Time for the fifth game of the 62 World Series.
- 2:29:26Ordale delivers. Outside, leaving the count at two and two.
- 2:29:41Here's the two-two pitch. It's up now. Three and two to Boyer.
- 2:29:51The Giants of that hip, the Yankees nine to six. They've outscored them seven to two.
- 2:29:59Ordale taking a little turn now. That's a three-two count on clean for you. Here's the pitch.
- 2:30:05Ground ball hit hard to short. Bowman has it. The flip to first. He's out. Boyer does out. Strike to first.
- 2:30:14That's one away. And Hector Lopez, come on to bat for the pitcher. Marshall Burgess.
- 2:30:22So, Bill has done quite a job, George, since he's come on. He's got seven men in a row and only one ball out at infield.
- 2:30:28He's really keeping that ball down, giving those infielders a chance to make the plan. They've been done it.
- 2:30:34Hector Lopez, a right-handed batter. Ordale into the windup. Deliverers are swinging away.
- 2:30:41He's got the fastball by one strike. Milley came on in the seventh inning. He has retired seven batters in a row.
- 2:30:52Joe says only one ball to the infield. The pitch to Lopez. Spike, he got a fastball over. Two strikes to Lopez.
- 2:31:03These giants play Lopez if he were a left-handed. It would have been his way over in the right center.
- 2:31:12Hector chokes the bat a little as he waits. Deli ready. Milley stops after going into the windup.
- 2:31:21And again, here's the pitch. Down low. One ball, two strikes.
- 2:31:28We're in the bottom of the ninth inning. There's one out with Deli on the giant's lead, seven to two.
- 2:31:36I'm beginning to pile out of the Accustadion. Here's the pitch. A ground ball hit deep inside.
- 2:31:42And the ball is a quick slide. Here's the first ball to the down. What a play by Barlin.
- 2:32:00Now we see the giants perform miracles around the shortstop with the giant.
- 2:32:04But Ernie Bowman just came up with us, right there. They went farther and right, dived and got the ball and threw it first in time to get Lopez.
- 2:32:13Sit down and here's Tati Kubeck. The first pitch, he swings and fouls it back. One strike to Kubeck.
- 2:32:27Even after Bowman fielded the ball, it looked like he had no chance to get Lopez, but he came up and rifled it over the spader.
- 2:32:35I swear to God, that's right. I think the surprise on the play was that they totally made.
- 2:32:42He didn't just flip it over there with the giant's foot to get him. He just gunned him out.
- 2:32:47Certainly did. It looked like he had no chance. But that's the Kubeck. Power ball, this one out of play.
- 2:32:55The first strike to Tati Kubeck, he represents the last hope. The Yankees here in the bottom of the ninth bank. They trail 72.
- 2:33:04Now down ready? Here's the pitch. Hello. Belly has started for the dugout. He thought he had it. One ball to strike.
- 2:33:19Well, they're taking a little time right now. It's just a sign. Here's the pitch. There's a foul ball down the left field line.
- 2:33:27If it stays there, it's gone. It would have been in trouble. Just outside the line and then it bounces into the seat.
- 2:33:35Still one ball and two strikes to Tati Kubeck.
- 2:33:47We're in the bottom of the ninth bank. There's two outs, but no one out.
- 2:33:54Belly out down, pitching in the lead. It's a sign to come out. Here's the one-two pitch.
- 2:34:03There's a drive to left field. Well, Lewis is going to play it in the first half.
- 2:34:07The first half is coming up on the left. The run is first, but two outs and the runner is holding with the team.
- 2:34:24He's off the three stick and a walk back in the third half.
- 2:34:38Well, down pointing out the center field for some reason. Here's the pitch. Bobby takes the straight run.
- 2:34:48He's got the lead. 66,677.
- 2:35:00Now, Tati's called as power goes out of the map for a couple of minutes or so.
- 2:35:06With two outs, you can bet they're not going to try to get cute and how I just want to make sure that they are going to stay right on the straight now and just throw strikes.
- 2:35:14Big five run lead. Grotten's up the hitter. Bobby Richardson standing in waiting for one strike. Here's the pitch.
- 2:35:25Belly bounces it down. The third base line.
- 2:35:30Ronnie Kielbach is on it's first base for two outs. Oh, down that retired eight batters in a row. We're giving up a second Tony.
- 2:35:45Billy gets that. Here's the pitch. Down low, brother. One and two. Once again, Billy, looking into Hanichik. The pass ball was high enough.
- 2:36:00Johnny is just straight away, not too deep for Bobby. The play is playing behind the runner at first, giving Kielbach a lot of room.
- 2:36:13Here's the pitch. Power ball is coming back to the press box. Still one ball to start.
- 2:36:27What's going to be a beautiful afternoon here in New York? Will that weather? It's like this for the fifth game tomorrow. The final game in Yankee Stadium.
- 2:36:37The one-two pitch. A power ball bouncing behind the player. Still one and two.
- 2:36:53Big sign on the scoreboard. The standing room tickets for the game tomorrow on sale right now.
- 2:37:00Down the lever. There's a cleaner. He pulled the screen. All two and a strike two guy.
- 2:37:09That's as far as he wants to go right here. If you're howling at night, shake his fists and say, give me a strike now.
- 2:37:18There he goes ready. Here's the two-two pitch. Three and two to Bobby.
- 2:37:33There's one and a two strike down. Now it's three and two. Here's the pitch. A ground ball foul down the first base line.
- 2:37:45Well, forget it. Move back, of course, moving on the pitch. Three, two and two.
- 2:38:01There's a line round and the left center fail. It's got a full pitch. Pullback is going to hold on the second base. Bobby Richardson lines one and the left center.
- 2:38:16There's a line on the right. Right, he's had one hit today in four traps. Again, the line has moved down to the mound for a conference with Odell.
- 2:38:32There he got the first two batters here tonight. He gave up a single to Cuback. On a three-two pitch, Bobby Richardson lines one and the left center.
- 2:38:42There's a nice batting right-handed against the left-handed. He held to the second baseman against Odell back in the seventh inning.
- 2:38:55It takes one up now. One ball to strike. There's strikes of action in the bullpen for the Giants. There's a query down there. Billy checks the sign. There's a one and a half pitch.
- 2:39:13Right, he got a nice ball over there. Why in line to trace? Tommy didn't like the call, I'm having. He's out of the box right now.
- 2:39:31Got a few words to say to Jim Honichick before getting back in. Odell are ready. There's a one-one, bitch. A swing of the miss. A nice ball by one ball to strike.
- 2:39:48There's a 72 ball game. The Giants are leading the Yankees. We're at the bottom of the ninth inning. Two on and two outs. One ball, two strikes to trace. Odell taking a little time.
- 2:40:03Here's the pitch. There's a drive in the right center. That's what's going on. He's coming in the front. The play is not in time. Tommy tries.
- 2:40:19There's a seven to three ball game. And about there it's getting out. Odell's in ninth. He has moved out of the center. He's going to strike out to the mound.
- 2:40:33He's got no indication. So he's making a matching change. You will know, John, you watch that ball game constantly. Thinking about what that time run is. It's seven to three right now. It's still on the bench when it's getting closer and closer.
