- 0:02When we begin to observe ourselves the thoughts, we
- 0:05entertain the emotions, we express the feelings we have and
- 0:11accept the physical reactions that occur within ourselves.
- 0:17It soon becomes clear that we are more reactive than active.
- 0:23We respond to energies, vibrations pressures, from
- 0:27outside ourselves. We are conditioned educated and
- 0:32manipulated through external, stimuli social, media,
- 0:37advertising campaigns and social pressures to think a certain way
- 0:44to believe certain things. To respond in approved wave.
- 0:50What of all of this can we truly say belongs to our own self our
- 0:56own individuality and has not been simply created or shaped by
- 1:02these external forces acting upon us.
- 1:07Even the shaping pressure does not build a totally constant and
- 1:10consistent individuality, we tend to change our reactions
- 1:15based on the situations we face. Even if we have a generally
- 1:20consistent personality complex, this to is dependent on the
- 1:25fluctuation of the gunas as well as differences of time and
- 1:30Circumstance. So that what we consider to be
- 1:33our normal mode of response, may undergo a radical alteration.
- 1:39When we are confronted with some new force acting upon us, we
- 1:44take on the appearance of a radio receiver, the changes its
- 1:49station based on whatever the loudest signal from outside
- 1:53happens to be at the moment, the underlying issue is that the
- 1:59Mind life body complex that makes up what we consider to be
- 2:04our personality, our ego personality, if you will, Is not
- 2:10a fixed formation and does not in the end.
- 2:13Constitute our true selves. The famous dictum know thyself
- 2:20is intended to take us deeper than the surface personality.
- 2:24Just as Ramana maharshi's famous question, who am I is meant to
- 2:30take us beyond the shape of the ego that we represent normally
- 2:36as ourselves from the world. The mother observes quote till
- 2:43the self-giving is firmly psychic.
- 2:45There will be disturbances, the interval of dark moments between
- 2:50bright ones. It is only the psychic that
- 2:53keeps on progressing in an unbroken line, its movement a
- 2:57continuous Ascension. All other movements are broken
- 3:02and discontinuous and it is not till the psychic is felt as
- 3:06yourself that you can be an individual even for it.
- 3:11Is the true self in you before the true self is known.
- 3:16You are a public place, not a being.
- 3:19There are so many clashing forces working in you, hence if
- 3:24you wish to make real progress, no, your own being You must
- 3:30learn to unite, what you call your individual self with your
- 3:34true psychic. Individuality your present
- 3:37individuality is a very mixed thing, a series of changes which
- 3:42yet preserves a certain continuity, a certain sameness
- 3:47or identity of vibration in the midst of all flux.
- 3:51It is almost like a river, which is never the same and yet has a
- 3:55certain definiteness and Persistence of its own Your
- 4:00normal self is merely a shadow of your true individuality,
- 4:04which you will realize only, when this normal individual,
- 4:08which is differently poised at different times.
- 4:11Now, in the mental, then in the vital at other times, in the
- 4:16physical gets into contact with the psychic and feels it, as
- 4:21it's real being, then you will be one, nothing will shake or
- 4:27disturb you, you will. I'll make steady and Lasting
- 4:31progress and quote reference SRI aurobindo in the mother growing
- 4:38within the psychology of inner development.
