- 0:20SPEAKER_00: All right, guys, so let's just get started because holy crap, there is a lot to cover.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: I'm going to try to stick to this two-chapter a week format, but if we have to, I might at some point move over to a one-chapter a week format or play it by ear because like uh my god, like it this book already started out pretty dense and like it's only gotten more so, and I think I have like about 6,000 words worth of notes this week.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: So we're just we're gonna start recording, we're gonna see how it goes.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: I will say, first of all, um I wanted to touch on a guy that got mentioned last week, Hans Habe.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Uh he was the guy whose daughter was killed possibly by a member of the processed church or the straight Satans.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: And uh I learned some interesting information in the last week, actually, that kind of blew my mind.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: So so I'm listening to I'm catching up on the Interpol episodes that Ghost Stories for the End of the World and Return of the Repressed did together, and in I believe their sixth episode, they mention a train bombing by a guy named Sylvester Mitsuka, and it happened in Hungary in 1931, and it's kind of it very much seems like a proto-gladio sort of thing.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Like it was used as an opportunity immediately for the right-wing government to like crack down on the population and to uh instill martial law on the populace and stuff like that.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And the guy who did it was like a mechanical engineer who claimed he was receiving orders from a spirit entity named Leo who commanded him to derail trains.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Uh, there was also a weird psychosexual element to it.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: So, nonetheless, like I I this very much feels like, and I believe this was their take as well, that this is some sort of seeming pro proto-Gladio sort of thing and sort of attack.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: And uh Hans Haba, who I was just mentioning, comes up in this episode because he was the first reporter on the scene because he was living in Hungary at the time.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Uh which is quite wild to me because it means that you had this sort of thing that was a nascent Gladio attack or whatever, where this man shows up first, and then later on, there's reason to believe that his daughter was killed by somebody in the Manson process church milia.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: So, like uh wild stuff when his name came up.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, actually the day after I recorded the last book club episode, as I was working that night, I was listening to their Interpol podcast, and my jaw just kind of hit the floor because to be able to connect those things with one degree of separation is pretty crazy to me.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Let's go on and get started on this week.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna start out with chapter five, Bluebird, and I wanted to read the beginning of chapter five because it is kind of a banger.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Again, most persons of the author's generation look to 1968 as the pivotal year of their lives.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: It was a time of multiple assassinations, civil unrest, the escalation of the war in Vietnam, the riots at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and the election of Richard M.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Nixon as president.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: For many of our generation, it signaled the death of a dream.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Yet, 1947 is also in the running as the pivotal year of the post-war period.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Many of the issues that define our generation owe their conception to the events of that year.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: 1947 was the year the CIA was created, and the penetrating of secrets.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: It was the year of the famous UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico, and the subsequent concealing of secrets, the year the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and their exposure of secrets.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: It was the year Winston Churchill made his famous Iron Curtain speech, thus declaring the beginning of the Cold War.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: It's the year that the House Un-American Activities Committee began its full-scale investigation of Hollywood.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: It is the year that inventor Arthur Young leaves Bell Helicopter for a full-time study of paranormal phenomena.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: It is the year that the U.S.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Navy begins Project Chatter, the search for a viable truth serum, a magic potion to unlock the secrets of the mind.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: In May of that year, the corporal is launched.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: America's answer to the V-2 rocket compliments of Jack Parsons and the rest of the JPL rocketeers.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: It is also the year of the famous Black Dahlia murder in Los Angeles, and of Admiral Byrd's Hollow Earth expedition.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: It is the year that Alistair Crowley dies.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: It is the year that Holly Maddox is born, a future murder victim whose death will expose the seamy underworld of the New Age movement.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: And if we can believe the Beatles, it is the year that Sergeant Pepper's band learned to play.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: The famous Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album was released in June 1967, with lyrics saying, 20 years ago today, Sergeant Pepper taught his band to play.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: That would have been in June 1947, the month the first UFO sightings that gave birth to the term flying saucer occurred in the Pacific Northwest.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: The lyrics go on to state, we'd like to take you home with us.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: In retrospect, maybe we should have gone.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: It was the year when those things that are now so secret, so classified and behind the scenes were upfront and in your face.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: The Cold War, the CIA, UFOs, whatever they were, alien spacecraft or mogul balloons crashing in New Mexico, and the mysteries of the origin of Christianity revealed in a cache of clay jars in Palestine.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe they were right about Jack Parsons.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Maybe he did open a hole in space-time in that series of rituals in the Mojave Desert in 1946.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: And maybe something did fly right in and nested in America's heartland.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Alright, I just I wanted to start out with that because I do think it's uh quite a good piece of writing, and it is what Peter Levenda does best, in my opinion.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: Like it really uh it is a very accurate, well-researched compilation of all of these different things that happened in 1947.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: And I will say, in particular, the Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart Span Club poll is particularly impressive.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And I I feel like oftentimes I'm probably pretty hard on the guy.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: So when I see something like this, you know, I I wanted to give it some credit.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Now, unfortunately, he is going to start going deep into a lot of really questionable UFO stuff.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: So it's unfortunately gonna take a nosedive pretty quickly.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Now, his first story is about June 21st, 1947, in Maury Island in the Maury Island incident.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: And basically, there's a man named Harold Dowell who claims to see six UFOs over Maury Island in Puget Sound in Washington State.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: He claims one of them crashed and hurt two of his crewmates and his son, and killed his dog as well.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Lavenda takes this pretty well at face value, and I will say I looked into this, and uh, there is no evidence about this dead dog, which isn't that crazy.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, uh, I wouldn't necessarily expect there to be.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: There also is no evidence that his son ever went to the hospital or any proof he was hurt whatsoever.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: And as well, those two crewmates were never named.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: So basically everything about this, we're immediately just kind of taking it Harold Dowell's word.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: And he claims he took evidence to his boss, Fred Chrisman, including pieces of metal and photographs.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: None of this has ever been verified.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: In fact, there is no proof that Fred Chrisman was ever his boss.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: In fact, we're actually not sure how they knew each other, but I mean, a couple of possibilities do come to mind.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: First of all, they lived in the same area.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Dow was a World War II vet, and Chrisman worked in veterans' affairs.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: The other possibility is that Dow he ran a salvage boat retrieving drifting logs, which in 1940s harbor parlance is code for pulling anything out of the water that shouldn't be on a manifest, basically.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Given that Chrisman was an ex-Army Air Force pilot with intelligence ties, I think it is totally possible he was a fence for the stuff Dow was finding.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: And it would also kind of make sense to simplify the story and call him your boss if that was really the case.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Given his later ties to the JFK assassination, which he was accused by Jim Garrison of having, it's hard to imagine that Chrisman is not, in fact, tied up in intelligence.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: So Dow claims that less than 24 hours after this happened, when only a small handful of people even knew about it, a strange visitor showed up at his door and said, and this is the quote, I advise you to say nothing about this.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: If you do, bad things will happen.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: And this is the original feed of the whole men in black idea and mythology.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Like this is the first time that the men in black really appear in UFO lore.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: And there are a few possibilities here.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Uh shadowy entity somehow knew about his UFO experience, and it more or less is true the way Dahl tells it.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: That's one possibility.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: I think it's the least likely possibility.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, he actually did get a visitor that spooked him, but it was sent by Chrisman as some sort of like, I don't know, like Mirage Men style psyop, if you've ever seen that documentary.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Uh, either because he had ran into a secret military project or just as part of some larger psychological experiment.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: And the other possibility would be that he and Chrisman knowingly made this story up to give it more flavor when it was published by Raymond A.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: Palmer.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: And Levenda even does acknowledge that Chrisman may be a disinformation specialist.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: It's kind of hard not to do when you're also trying to connect him to the JFK assassination.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Like at that point, you sort of have to acknowledge that more is going on here than meets the eye, and that there is government involvement.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: And what he does though is he acts like what the di what the disinformation would be would be hiding aliens as opposed to making them up, which is equally or more likely, I would say.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: The second story he tells is a story of Kenneth Arnold, who while searching for a downed plane with a$5,000 reward, he claims he saw several saucers fly by at a speed of 1,700 miles per hour.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: He is given credibility by being a pilot, and Levenda sees credibility in him being a sheriff's deputy.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: He talks to the East Oregonian newspaper and is visited by two military intelligence officers from the 4th Air Force Division.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: On July 4, 1947, the day of the Roswell crash, Levenda claims that day there were no less than 85 sightings in the United States.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: This is a slight lie.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: It's over four days, but there are around 90 sightings reported in 38 states.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: This is genuinely weird.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Could be mass hysteria.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: I don't love that explanation ever, to be honest.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Uh could be some sort of a massive psyop, maybe, but that's also hard to imagine.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe a combination of both, maybe something else that uh I don't have the pieces to make sense of or that I'm not thinking of.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Please, like, as always, I'm like, I really want this thing as it grows to be a community thing too.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: So if you ever have any ideas about stuff that I have left out, please like feel free to comment them under the uh under the uh episode.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: I do not have a Discord and I don't see myself having one in the near future just because there are already so many great Discords that are kind of doing very similar things.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: Um, but please, like I I am baffled by this in a lot of ways.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: So I would be interested to hear some other people's ideas.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Next, in the scattered way that Levenda does, he drops a quick fact about Roswell that Walter Dornberger is a Nazi brought over under Operation Overcast, which was the precursor to Paperclip, who ends up being sent to oversee the situation in Roswell from Wright Air Force Base, uh, which is true.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: And once again, I I feel like a lot of this section, a lot of the stuff he says is true.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: It's his interpretation, I guess I disagree with.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: Like uh that the once again, the most logical thing to me would be that this is some sort of psychological operation, given that a lot of Nazis that were brought over in certain fields were psychological operators.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: So what ends up happening is so Arnold, the guy from the second UFO story, agrees to meet Dow, the guy from the first UFO story, in Tacoma July 29th.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: He claims to see more UFOs on his flight there.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: He arrives in Tacoma, all the hotels are booked except for the most expensive hotel.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: With the only option left, he tries it and somebody has already mysteriously booked him.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Now, Arnold could be making this up.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: It's possible, but he does seem genuinely spooked at the events of the last month and kind of unhinged.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: He also is not directly tied to military or intelligence, so I'm more inclined than not to believe him.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: I also think we may be able to infer some context and some motivation behind this when we factor in that the room he ends up taking is in fact bugged, and the United Press International will receive leaks of the verbatim conversation that he has with Doll in this hotel room.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: And then I will admit, this is this is fucking wild.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: So Arnold, once again, the man who from the second UFO story, the helicopter, the airplane pilot, uh calls the men he originally dealt with from the Air Force, who see it as most likely a hoax, and are about to head home when Chrisman, the man from the first UFO story, the guy that Dahl brought the supposed secret medal to, shows up with a box he claims is debris from the damaged UFO, the stuff that Dal gave him.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: These two Air Force pilots take it and then they crash on the way back to their base and they defy.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Uh, if you're into parapolitics, I really feel like a story like this is catnip.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, the idea of somebody with world-shaking information in their hands who mysteriously crashes on their flight back home.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: But let's try our best to parse out what happened here.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Because there are really three choices I can think of, and they all kind of don't scan.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Either they genuinely crashed, which I would say it might be the best answer in this case.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Uh I I really am not inclined usually to weight, you know, acts of God or whatever as the highest choice a lot of the time when evaluating these things, because I do think oftentimes that hid it that intentions can be hidden behind this sort of thing.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: But I will say uh there were a lot more plane crashes back then, especially when a bunch of repurposed World War II planes were being used at the time.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: But the problem with this is what you have to accept if you go with this story is that what Chrisman genuinely gave them is something worthwhile.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Because he would have been under the assumption that they would make it back to the base and examine it and run tests on it.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: And if there's a part of the story that really doesn't scan for me, the part that makes me go, okay, like I don't I don't know if I can accept this answer, it is that I have a really hard time seeing what the game would be here, what the what the play would be for Chrisman to do that.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Uh the second option is that some third party wanted to stop them, but this also runs into the same problem in that it requires Chrisman and his box to be genuine.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: The third option is that Chrisman gave them the box, knowing they would never make it back.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: But in that case, why kill them?
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: I have no doubt that they would sacrifice two military intelligence members if the incentives were good enough.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: But like, what are the incentives here?
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Keeping them from calling Arnold's experience fake?
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Creating a little bit of extra spooky UFO lore?
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Like, those aren't totally convincing reasons.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Nonetheless, I next up, he mentions that Guy Bannister was investigating UFOs in 1947.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: Uh, he mentions the Twin Falls saucer incident, and we covered Guy Bannister last week.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: He was the guy who got in an argument with Jack Martin at a bar and pistol whipped him when he said Bannister was connected to the JFK assassination at the bar.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: It was the original testimony that spurred the garrison investigations.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Uh and I think one thing that is very fascinating if you look behind some of the obfuscation or some of the reasoning in these chapters is uh the genuine just direct connections between this this UFO stuff and the JFK assassination.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, for Guy Bannister and Fred Chrisman to both directly be involved in both is I mean, the odds are astronomical.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Like it there there has to be a through line there.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Next, I wanted to read another small section from Sinister Forces on page 191.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Levenda says, It is tempting to link the UFO sightings with the creation of a National Security Act and the establishment of the CIA.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: It is even more tempting to link the sudden presence of Nazi General Dornberger at Wright Field with contemporaneous multiple UFO sightings in the U.S.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: during the same month the Roswell crash debris is taken there.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: All of this happened in the same four-week time frame and involved some of the same notorious characters who had resurfaced 16 years later at the time of the assassination of John F.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Kennedy.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: One must either put this fascinating conglomeration of events down to mere coincidence, see it as proof of a wide multi-level and omnivorous conspiracy, or be forced to seek a deeper meaning, evidence of the action of a hidden force in nature, a connective tissue among events that cannot be discerned from our three-dimensional surface.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Not mere coincidence, but the phenomenon we know is coincidence taken to a different level.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: I will say I am grateful he gets into Roswell here, and uh I'm very happy he only spends a couple pages on it, so we don't have to do an entire Roswell thing right now, and there are just a few claims to respond to.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: And there are a lot of stories about it.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: I definitely think that to do it justice, you would need a lot more time than we are going to spend on it, or for that matter, the amount of time Lavenda spends on it.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: So perfect.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Uh so first of all, he claims the sequence is that a UFO is spotted on radar screens July 1st, spotted on July 2nd and 3rd, it crashed on July 4th and was discovered on July 5th.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: Now, this all comes from sources retrospectively trying to put together a story decades after the fact.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: Most of it, in fact, comes from a book called UFO Crash at Roswell, published by Donald Schmidt and Kevin Randall in 1991.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: There are two living radar operators who make late-in-life statements named Charles B.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: Forgis and E.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: L.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Todix.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: A few other claims are attributed secondhand to other radar operators.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: They claim radar locked onto an object doing all sorts of crazy maneuvers between 7.1 and 7.4.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: Besides the fact these statements are made decades after the fact by people who have spent over 40 years with the just stating Roswell mythology, these were early and often inaccurate radar systems.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: Not to mention the fact that we do actually know there were top high secret altitude balloon tests being launched out of Alamogordo on uh July 1st and July 2nd, specifically designed to bounce back radar frequency.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: You know, I think there's definitely a good argument that there was more going on with the crash than just a downed weather balloon, but this is a fact.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: They were putting balloons up in the air to fuck with radar frequency.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: So uh on the July 2nd sighting in specific, that comes from a late 70s account by a couple named Dan and Marie Wilmot.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: Once again, decades after the fact, with no contemporary corroboration, waiter researchers would move their sightings to July 3rd in order to better match timelines they were creating, even though the couple never claimed any such thing.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: So you have a couple who, decades after the fact, once this mythology is already established, claims to have seen something on July 2nd.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: And then basically over time, researchers trying to put together a coherent timeline just change the day.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, not real fucking uh believable.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: On top of all of that, even the July 4th crash and the July 5th discovery is highly questionable.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: In fact, Mac Brazel, the man who originally discovered the crash on Foster Ranch, claims in contemporary sources that he originally found it in mid-June and only went back on July 5th to investigate after reading about the national flying disc rays in the papers.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: His story changed after he spent time being held incommunicado by the military.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: And I don't that to me is also really strong evidence for the fact that whatever happened has been wildly misreported.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: The fact that and government involvement, to be honest, too.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: Like both that Mac Brays out, his original story is that he found it weeks earlier, and because of all of these sightings, because of all of these stories, he this got him thinking, and then he went back to the crash site, which obviously just nukes the entire timeline that almost any Roswell researcher will give you.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: And then after being held by the military for several days, he comes out and changes his story and claims he found it on July 4th.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: Like, okay.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: And without getting into all of the specific people he mentions as giving testimony, he once again gives the strongest weight to military.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: And I would say they're arguably the least trustworthy source.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: There were, in fact, tests we know they were doing involving radiation at white sands and dropping animals from high altitudes, unclaimed human remains, and in some cases psychiatric patients or unhoused individuals.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Alright, everybody, that is it for the preview this week.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, if you would like to hear the rest, please head over to my Patreon and just for$5 a month, you will get two episodes that are uh premium episodes each month, as well as my back catalog, which is slowly starting to fill out.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Uh I appreciate you guys as always.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: If somebody genuinely cannot afford this and would like to hear the content, please reach out to me and we can work something out here.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: I uh wouldn't be a very good communist if I insisted on you know absolutely being paid for this, but it does really help give me some breathing room to keep on doing this work.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: So if you can, wonderful, if you can't and you really want to hear the info, I don't want to keep that from you, so please hit me up.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, that is it.
