- 5:11Speaker 8: company will pay it.
- 5:12Speaker 3: And that'll be that what claim.
- 5:14Speaker 8: So just you stop worrying about it and forget what claim? Jake, No, sir, Johnny,

- 6:08Speaker 3: It was nine forty five on the Daughters.
- 6:09Speaker 5: The big mainliners slowly circled down out of the clear
- 6:12Speaker 5: starlet sky. Unless you've seen the minions of stars that
- 6:16Speaker 5: twinkle brightly through the clean, dry air over the Mohabi.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Desert, you really miss something.
- 6:21Speaker 5: And as we glided down toward the landing strip on
- 6:23Speaker 5: the south edge of Las Vegas, the multicolored lights of
- 6:26Speaker 5: the fabulous resort town made it sparkle like a vast
- 6:29Speaker 5: field of jewels. Beautiful, yeah, and expensive, that is, if
- 6:34Speaker 5: you insist on trying your hand at the gaming tables
- 6:36Speaker 5: and the casinos that line the main drag. Believe me, brother,
- 6:39Speaker 5: I know, but that's not a hint of there. As
- 6:43Speaker 5: I grabbed my luggage and started for the car rental office,
- 6:45Speaker 5: a tall angular man, well tanned and dressed in blue jeans,
- 6:48Speaker 5: high heeled boots and ten gallon hats, soundered over to me.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Whooh, you wouldn't take my word part.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Oh Jane, that's right, Jake Kessler in person. And Johnny,
- 6:58Speaker 5: if you were here to investigate claim on the Hobbs policy, Well,
- 7:02Speaker 5: they're just hobbs.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Wow, Oh I know that much. I suppose you tell
- 7:07Speaker 3: me who Hobbs is.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Oh what, I'll tell you all about it when I
- 7:11Speaker 6: have you can hop on another plane and go.
- 7:13Speaker 9: Right on back to Hartford, and all at your own expense.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I still don't see whatever made you come out here, Johnny.
- 7:19Speaker 5: Apparently the Hobbs matter, so start telling me. Well, come on, shake,
- 7:24Speaker 5: come on, all right, Johnny, All right. Elmer p Hobbs
- 7:28Speaker 5: real Estate in Los Angeles.
- 7:30Speaker 8: Came over to the Lake Mahovey Resort about two weeks ago,
- 7:32Speaker 8: spent a few days fishing with his old.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Paddle of guide they have there, I mean red RedBerry. Yeah, well, okay.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Go on, And on Tuesday, a week ago, he rented
- 7:41Speaker 5: one of the boats and went out by himself.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Apparently he went.
- 7:44Speaker 5: Up to a place called the Big Base and oh, well,
- 7:46Speaker 5: the lakes three or four miles wide up there.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Well, that afternoon a big wind came up, regular screamer.
- 7:51Speaker 3: All the other.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Boats came back to the landing, and all but mister Hobbs.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Oh.
- 7:56Speaker 8: Next morning, when the wind died down, they found his
- 7:58Speaker 8: body walked upon the shore on the Nevada side.
- 8:01Speaker 3: That's all. That's all, you say.
- 8:04Speaker 5: A claim has been fine, that's right by one of
- 8:06Speaker 5: his two beneficiary, oh, his business partner back in La
- 8:10Speaker 5: mister Stuart Many.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I've passed the claim and the company will pay it.
- 8:14Speaker 5: No investigation of any kind of of course, there was Johnny,
- 8:18Speaker 5: that kingman pleased the sheriff's office and the.
- 8:21Speaker 3: County carner accidental death dude to drown it. So that's it, Johnny.
- 8:24Speaker 8: Now you just make your reservation back to Hartford at
- 8:27Speaker 8: that window ride over there, and you are paying the free.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Oh not so fast, Jake. I'm sticking around now.
- 8:32Speaker 9: You you can see for yourself.
- 8:33Speaker 3: There's no reason for you to be here, much less
- 8:36Speaker 3: it company extent.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Well, after all, now that I am here, it'll be
- 8:39Speaker 5: kind of silly not to run down to the lake, Carl.
- 8:42Speaker 3: You mean, just to do some fishing on your own time.
- 8:44Speaker 3: You want to drive me down there, Johnny? Yeah, Johnny.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Do you know something about the.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Hubcase that I don't and the police and the sheriff, Jake.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I don't know a thing about it.
- 8:57Speaker 10: Okay, Johnny, how do you want me to fix that crow?
- 9:01Speaker 3: You're going to eat.
- 9:18Speaker 9: Act two of yours? Truly, Johnny Dollar in a moment.
- 9:21Speaker 11: Our flag now numbers fifty stars, and behind each star
- 9:26Speaker 11: there stands yet another flag representing one of the fifty states.
- 9:31Speaker 11: Vermont's state flag, in its early form, imitated our national flag,
- 9:36Speaker 11: uniquely bearing seventeen stripes and seventeen stars, with only the
- 9:40Speaker 11: inscribed word Vermont to distinguish it. The good people of
- 9:45Speaker 11: Vermont assumed, as did our national government, that stripes as
- 9:48Speaker 11: well as stars would be added as each new state
- 9:51Speaker 11: entered the Union. Vermont entered the Union after Tennessee and Ohio,
- 9:56Speaker 11: and with Kentucky to join shortly, the Vermonters naturally put
- 10:00Speaker 11: seventeen stripes on their flag. In eighteen hundred and eighteen,
- 10:04Speaker 11: the United States Congress put a stop to this, and
- 10:07Speaker 11: since then the stripes have always been at thirteen, and
- 10:11Speaker 11: only stars are added for each new state. Vermont's present
- 10:15Speaker 11: flag captures the famous beauty of the Green Mountain State
- 10:19Speaker 11: in its coat of arms and inscribed as the phrase
- 10:23Speaker 11: Vermont Freedom and Unity. Vermont's state flag, the flag of
- 10:28Speaker 11: the fourteenth state to enter the Union, was adopted on
- 10:32Speaker 11: April twenty sixth, nineteen twenty three.
- 10:35Speaker 9: Now act too of yours truly, Johnny Dollar and the
- 10:38Speaker 9: Mojave red matter.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Elmer P.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Hobbes of Los Angeles had died of drowning when a
- 10:47Speaker 5: small boat capsized in a high wind on Lake Mohave.
- 10:50Speaker 5: At least that's what Jake Kesler, is insurance agent, told me.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Accident appearance simply said, and I could hire myself back
- 10:57Speaker 5: at Hartford and forget about it. But I didn't, simply
- 11:00Speaker 5: because of the phone call I'd received from old Red Bearrett,
- 11:03Speaker 5: fishing guide at Lake Mohave Resort. I preswear to Jake
- 11:06Speaker 5: to drive me over there on the excuse that as
- 11:08Speaker 5: long as I was nearby, I might as well do
- 11:10Speaker 5: some fishing. So he dropped me off, and since it
- 11:12Speaker 5: was after midnight, went on back to Kingdom. I wandered
- 11:15Speaker 5: on down to the dock and boat house.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Hello, who's that ham, eh, Johnny Johnny dollars?
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, what are you?
- 11:29Speaker 2: Doing here. I am here.
- 11:30Speaker 10: You know darn well what he's doing here, Ham, The
- 11:33Speaker 10: fishing has never been better. Only how'd you get the word?
- 11:37Speaker 2: Now?
- 11:37Speaker 3: Are you?
- 11:37Speaker 2: John? Oh?
- 11:38Speaker 3: Just great? Busting?
- 11:39Speaker 2: Did you stop buy the office? Let Maryland picture up.
- 11:41Speaker 12: Of the room.
- 11:42Speaker 3: No? No, because, as I recall all, Red usually sleeps
- 11:45Speaker 3: here on the dock. Oh, Red, why do you say
- 11:48Speaker 3: that way? Buster?
- 11:49Speaker 10: Because Ham and I waste some good sleeping time down
- 11:52Speaker 10: here wondering why he hasn't come in yet.
- 11:54Speaker 5: You mean he's still out on the lake. Yes, as
- 11:57Speaker 5: black as the Ace of Spades out there, and no
- 11:59Speaker 5: moon to night.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Buster and I were about to take off about to
- 12:02Speaker 2: look for it.
- 12:03Speaker 10: He pulled his very same stunt night before last. We
- 12:06Speaker 10: finally found him drifting around about nine miles up here.
- 12:09Speaker 2: He said he'd run out of gas, showed us empty
- 12:12Speaker 2: tank prove it.
- 12:13Speaker 10: Yeah, but we knew better.
- 12:14Speaker 3: What do you mean bust him?
- 12:16Speaker 10: I mean when he saw us coming after him, he
- 12:18Speaker 10: dumped out what gas he had, oil slick all over
- 12:21Speaker 10: the lake if somebody had struck a match whise.
- 12:25Speaker 2: You know, Red's been doing a lot of crazy things
- 12:28Speaker 2: this past week or so ever since his old friend
- 12:31Speaker 2: mister Hobbs died. They were pretty close, and that is
- 12:34Speaker 2: why he follow Red phone yeah, early this morning.
- 12:38Speaker 5: And if you ask me, it's because he doesn't believe
- 12:41Speaker 5: mister Howes's death was accidental.
- 12:43Speaker 10: Johnny, you know something, I didn't quite believe it myself.
- 12:48Speaker 10: We're sure we have some pretty big winds on the
- 12:50Speaker 10: lake now and then, and it was a big one
- 12:52Speaker 10: that day. And then when the corner and the other
- 12:55Speaker 10: thought is, well, well, who's to argue with them?
- 12:58Speaker 3: Do you know if Redd has found out any anything
- 13:00Speaker 3: at all.
- 13:01Speaker 2: All we know is he's given up taking out fishing
- 13:04Speaker 2: parties and spends all his time prowling around the lake
- 13:06Speaker 2: every day and night.
- 13:08Speaker 10: Says, if you can find the boat, mister.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Hobbs, what kind of a boat was it?
- 13:12Speaker 2: One of our regular rentals room in a walking saw traveler?
- 13:15Speaker 10: Yeah, with a ten hars Johnson on it.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Well, listen, those boats have flotation tanks, so even if
- 13:22Speaker 5: it did capsize, it wouldn't sink you, right, John, And
- 13:25Speaker 5: there's been no sign of it, not at all. Then
- 13:29Speaker 5: let's go up to the lake and find Red. Except
- 13:37Speaker 5: for the star as far overhead, the night was black
- 13:39Speaker 5: as in and the fifty horse out for its skim
- 13:41Speaker 5: gots along at better than thirty miles an hour.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Believe me, it was.
- 13:44Speaker 5: A strange feeling, almost like flying through space. Al Buster
- 13:48Speaker 5: found his way around the islands, rocky points and reefs.
- 13:51Speaker 5: I'll ever know what he did.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Throw your flask light over to the left hand. You
- 13:55Speaker 3: ought to be about even.
- 13:56Speaker 10: With sculptor rock Here here it is, and we're coming
- 14:01Speaker 10: into the big beat.
- 14:02Speaker 5: Will you please tell me how you ever expect to
- 14:04Speaker 5: find Bread and all his darkness?
- 14:06Speaker 2: Oh, don't worry about him. He hears as comedy a
- 14:08Speaker 2: signal by straking a match or something good.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Johnny, no matter how crazy you are, you never let somebody.
- 14:14Speaker 10: Wander around in the dark looking play out here.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Bred knows that, but he's had to come out and
- 14:19Speaker 2: hunt too many people at night at solf And look, yeah,
- 14:23Speaker 2: on the east or I'm swinging over there, and you're right,
- 14:27Speaker 2: there's a fire of a beach. Yeah, must be Red.
- 14:30Speaker 3: What's he doing out here?
- 14:32Speaker 2: We'll soon find out?
- 14:33Speaker 12: Hang on, Well, all I have to.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Say is took long enough to bring Johnny up here.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Red, You all reprobate one under the sewing you up
- 14:54Speaker 2: to this time.
- 14:55Speaker 6: I just told you I've been waiting for you to
- 14:58Speaker 6: bring Johnny. Now you can leave this and going back
- 15:01Speaker 6: to the dock, and I thank you very much.
- 15:04Speaker 10: Read we're not leaving until we find out what this
- 15:06Speaker 10: is all about.
- 15:08Speaker 6: And if I tell you, would you promise to leave
- 15:10Speaker 6: us alone?
- 15:10Speaker 2: Sure? Sure, we'll promise anything.
- 15:13Speaker 4: You see.
- 15:14Speaker 6: I need Johnny's help well, because with him to follow
- 15:18Speaker 6: up what I've found today, where Johnny, you and I
- 15:22Speaker 6: are going to prove that my old friend, mister Hobbes
- 15:25Speaker 6: was murdered.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Act three.
- 15:30Speaker 9: If yours truly Johnny Dollar, in a.
- 15:32Speaker 13: Moment, every American fighting man has heard the expression above
- 15:38Speaker 13: and beyond the call of duty. How many of us
- 15:41Speaker 13: have sat down and considered just what that word duty means.
- 15:44Speaker 13: According to one dictionary definition, duty is man's conduct is
- 15:49Speaker 13: required by his station or occupation and that to which
- 15:52Speaker 13: he is bound by moral obligation to do or not
- 15:55Speaker 13: to do. When a man does more than his duty requires,
- 15:59Speaker 13: he becomes more of a man in the eyes of
- 16:01Speaker 13: his fellow men. One such was Captain John Philip Cromwell,
- 16:06Speaker 13: commander of the submarine U S. S. Sculpin, flagship of
- 16:09Speaker 13: a submarine Coordinated Attack Group of the United States Navy.
- 16:13Speaker 13: Possessing secret intelligence information of our fleet movements, strategy, tactics,
- 16:18Speaker 13: and attack plans. Captain Cromwell led his attack group and
- 16:22Speaker 13: patrol of enemy waters around Truck Island in November nineteen
- 16:26Speaker 13: forty three, just prior to the launching of our first
- 16:29Speaker 13: large scale offensive in the Pacific. Despite savage enemy opposition,
- 16:34Speaker 13: he established a line of submarines around the enemy held
- 16:37Speaker 13: stronghold of Truck until his ship, the Sculpin, became so
- 16:41Speaker 13: rocked and battered by depth bonds that he ordered it
- 16:44Speaker 13: to the surface. He engaged the enemy with deck guns,
- 16:47Speaker 13: giving his crew an opportunity to abandon the mortally stricken ship.
- 16:52Speaker 13: Determined to sacrifice himself rather than risk capture and the
- 16:56Speaker 13: subsequent danger of revealing the secret plans to the enemy,
- 17:00Speaker 13: Captain Crumwell remained aboard the Sculpton as she plunged to
- 17:03Speaker 13: her death. He thereby preserved the security of the mission
- 17:07Speaker 13: at the cost of his own life. Captain Crumwell earned
- 17:10Speaker 13: the Medal of Honor for deep integrity and uncompromising devotion
- 17:14Speaker 13: to the call of duty in the service of his country.
- 17:17Speaker 13: But what he did define the word duty better than
- 17:20Speaker 13: any dictionary, and.
- 17:23Speaker 9: Now I free of yours, truly, Johnny Dollar and the
- 17:26Speaker 9: mohave Red matter.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I'll tell you this, Johnny Red here's one of the wildest,
- 17:39Speaker 2: most irresponsible old characters. I know what he wants to be,
- 17:42Speaker 2: but he's okay. Nonetheless, and if he thinks you and
- 17:45Speaker 2: he can find proved that mister Hobbson's murdered, well must
- 17:49Speaker 2: have a good reason for it.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Well right, Oh, Nahham, you think a man like Elmer
- 17:54Speaker 6: Hobbes knowing the lake the way he did, but ever
- 17:57Speaker 6: let the big wind catch him off guard in the basin.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Oh oh, don't Red. I know that's the way Buster
- 18:03Speaker 2: felt about it too. I said that to you myself.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Read but now, what's this proof you have of murder?
- 18:09Speaker 2: Well? Ham and Buster?
- 18:12Speaker 4: Aren't you going on back?
- 18:13Speaker 6: Now that I've told you why I wanted you to
- 18:15Speaker 6: bring Johnny here?
- 18:16Speaker 12: Was there any harm?
- 18:17Speaker 10: And I'm knowing what you found Red, after all, we
- 18:20Speaker 10: might be able to help you and Johnny.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought about that.
- 18:23Speaker 6: But you see, I might just possibly be wrong about well,
- 18:28Speaker 6: I might just be wrong, and I wouldn't want to
- 18:30Speaker 6: be ashamed in front.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Of a lot of people.
- 18:33Speaker 2: By a lot you mean three?
- 18:35Speaker 6: Well, well that's three times as many as just Johnny here.
- 18:38Speaker 10: Well, Johnny, he means it's so Ham and I are
- 18:41Speaker 10: gone back to the dock.
- 18:42Speaker 3: But I still don't see what difference, Johnny.
- 18:45Speaker 2: When you get to know Red as well as we do,
- 18:47Speaker 2: you'll stop trying to figure out the whys and wherefores
- 18:50Speaker 2: and some of the things he does and what makes
- 18:51Speaker 2: a tick. But you'll also learn that in the long run,
- 18:54Speaker 2: no matter how unorthodox, some of those things are well on, Buster, right.
- 19:01Speaker 10: See you when you get back to doc, Johnny.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Oh, you got some food, Red?
- 19:05Speaker 4: You know I always keep something in my boat, Buster.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Okay, Oh, far be it from me, Red. But all
- 19:13Speaker 5: I have to say is that whatever you think you
- 19:15Speaker 5: found proof of it, I'm sure better be something the
- 19:18Speaker 5: way it is, Johnny, at least I think it.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Did you scrunch yourself for places to sleep in the sand,
- 19:27Speaker 6: it's pretty late, huh. Well, it took you so long
- 19:30Speaker 6: to get here, and we can't see anything in the
- 19:33Speaker 6: dark anyway.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Oh now, look Red for heavens. Sad night, Johnny, sleep well.
- 19:39Speaker 5: And that was the end of our conversation, and I
- 19:41Speaker 5: began to wonder if Jake Kessler hadn't been right in
- 19:44Speaker 5: the first place, if I hadn't come out here on
- 19:46Speaker 5: a wild goose chase after all. But the more I
- 19:49Speaker 5: wondered and thought about, it was nothing but the warm
- 19:51Speaker 5: desert night about us, twinkling stars, the magic sound of
- 19:55Speaker 5: fish jumping in the lake, the sleepy right guy.
- 19:57Speaker 3: So I slept.
- 20:01Speaker 5: The smell of bacon frying over the campfire awakened me,
- 20:03Speaker 5: although the sun still hadn't shone over the mountains that
- 20:05Speaker 5: bordered the eastern side of the lake.
- 20:07Speaker 6: Dash your face in the lake, Johnny, Then grabbed yourself
- 20:11Speaker 6: down of this bacon, and they I did.
- 20:12Speaker 3: As I was tall.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Then, squatting in the sand in front of the fire,
- 20:15Speaker 5: stuffed away a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs and pancakes
- 20:18Speaker 5: made from sour dough. You know there's something about a
- 20:21Speaker 5: meal cooked over a campfire. That well, we had other
- 20:24Speaker 5: things to do, so we climbed into reds old a
- 20:27Speaker 5: little of a bolt, and slowly drove up the lakes,
- 20:29Speaker 5: thing close to shore. Finally we reached a small rocky coal.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Right here is this spot, Johnny, this little cold this
- 20:39Speaker 5: spot for what?
- 20:40Speaker 3: Right? You know you still haven't told me.
- 20:42Speaker 6: See there, you see where somebody has climbed up the rocks.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Oh well, I'll take your word for it.
- 20:48Speaker 6: Well, he couldn't have climbed up off of the water,
- 20:51Speaker 6: so he must have climbed out of a boat. So,
- 20:54Speaker 6: and there's foot drench leading away across the desert. And Johnny,
- 20:58Speaker 6: they arn elmer high footprints.
- 21:00Speaker 4: You knows her.
- 21:01Speaker 5: So somebody climbed out of a boat here for one
- 21:04Speaker 5: reason or another and took a walk into the desert.
- 21:06Speaker 3: The man who killed Elmer Hubb What makes you think?
- 21:09Speaker 6: So look down over the side in the water.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Yeah, boats sunk down there. That's the boat that Elmer had.
- 21:19Speaker 3: And you see it clear, yes, Verny.
- 21:22Speaker 6: Then you can see it wasn't damage enough to sink it.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Not that boat, you're right ready, particularly since it has
- 21:29Speaker 5: flotation tanks.
- 21:30Speaker 6: But it's down there, it sunk. Well, you better strip
- 21:33Speaker 6: to your shorts, Johnny.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I'll go down and take a look.
- 21:38Speaker 6: Me I already have, but I want you to look, Johnny,
- 21:42Speaker 6: And remember I knew everything that Elmer had in his
- 21:44Speaker 6: boat when he left the dog.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Remember that, okay?
- 21:48Speaker 5: And you're sure the footprints leading into the desert couldn't
- 21:51Speaker 5: possibly have been made by mister hawks.
- 21:53Speaker 6: That I'll swear to Johnny by all that's good and
- 21:56Speaker 6: hold now, I'm not slipping easy, so you won't disturb
- 21:59Speaker 6: the water too much. I took a deep breath, surface
- 22:04Speaker 6: dived and swam down to the sunken boat and the
- 22:06Speaker 6: water was clear and I could see plainly, and I
- 22:09Speaker 6: saw that Red was white.
- 22:11Speaker 3: I bobbed back to the surface. Did you see him
- 22:15Speaker 3: the cut?
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yeah? Red.
- 22:17Speaker 5: Those flotation tanks were slashed open with a necks or
- 22:20Speaker 5: a sharp, heavy tool of some kind.
- 22:22Speaker 6: But Elmer had no axe on that boot, so it
- 22:25Speaker 6: was somebody else, Johnny, somebody who murdered him, Yeah, and
- 22:31Speaker 6: then sank the boot.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I'm afraid you're right. Elma Hobbs was murdered. So there
- 22:42Speaker 5: you have a chake. And if I were you, I'd
- 22:44Speaker 5: call off payment on that claim immediately granted the cases.
- 22:48Speaker 3: No yet, I still had the.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Job of finding out who killed Elma Hobbs. But you
- 22:53Speaker 5: know something, You're gonna have to wait for my next report.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Meantime expense account total to the moment one, including the
- 23:02Speaker 5: cost of shooting and retrieving one crawl, Jake, how would
- 23:06Speaker 5: you like it cooked until the next report?
- 23:09Speaker 3: Then, yours truly, Johnny Dollar, our star will return in
- 23:27Speaker 3: just a moment. Our flag now numbers fifty stars, and
- 23:31Speaker 3: behind each star there stands yet another flag representing one
- 23:35Speaker 3: of the fifty states. Oklahoma's state flag depicts an osage
- 23:40Speaker 3: warriors circular buckskin shield from which hang seven eagle feathers.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Across the shield is the Indian's calumet or pipe of peace,
- 23:50Speaker 3: crossed with a white man's peace symbol the olive branch.
- 23:53Speaker 3: On the shield are small crosses the Indians graphics sign
- 23:57Speaker 3: for stars, indicating loft the ideals, or a purpose for
- 24:02Speaker 3: high endeavor. The background of the flag is a field
- 24:06Speaker 3: of blue, the blue of the Oklahoma sky, signifying loyalty
- 24:11Speaker 3: and devotion. The important symbols, however, are the calumet and
- 24:16Speaker 3: the olive branch. These override the shield the symbol of war,
- 24:20Speaker 3: and bespeak a predominant love of peace by a united people.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Oklahoma state flag, the flag of the.
- 24:27Speaker 5: Forty sixth state to enter the Union, was adopted on
- 24:30Speaker 5: April second, nineteen twenty five.
- 24:33Speaker 9: Now here's our star to tell you about next week's story.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Next week.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Well, after all, a case isn't really closed, but it
- 24:41Speaker 5: will be next week. Believe me, Join us, won't you,
- 24:44Speaker 5: yours truly, Johnny Dollar.
- 25:03Speaker 9: Yours truly, Johnny Dollar.
- 25:05Speaker 7: Starrying Bob Bailey originates in Hollywood and is produced and
- 25:09Speaker 7: directed by Jack Johnstone, who also wrote today's story.
- 25:13Speaker 9: Heard in our cast were Lucille Meredith.
- 25:15Speaker 7: Boris Lewis, Harley Bear, Alan Reid, and Barney Phillips. Be
- 25:19Speaker 7: sure to join us next week, same time and station
- 25:22Speaker 7: for the conclusion of this exciting story of Yours truly,
- 25:26Speaker 7: Johnny Dollars.
- 25:30Speaker 10: This is Roy Rowan speaking.
- 25:49Speaker 7: This is the United States Armed Forces Radio and Television Service.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Welcome back. Well you can tell this is a Jack
- 27:08Speaker 1: Johnstone script just by the strength of characterization, which ultimately
- 27:13Speaker 1: does carry the story through. And clearly it's some very
- 27:17Speaker 1: interesting characters and overall the story ideas strong. Though I
- 27:22Speaker 1: wish that the evidence Johnny had found wasn't so patently
- 27:27Speaker 1: obvious that the police should have caught it. Of course,
- 27:31Speaker 1: this does raise my questions into my mind as to
- 27:34Speaker 1: who the suspect, who the actual murderer could be. I'm
- 27:38Speaker 1: suspicious of the agent if for no reason in the
- 27:42Speaker 1: way that he was dancing around the case was what
- 27:46Speaker 1: made Johnny suspicious enough to come out in the first place.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Risking the possibility that he'd have to pay his own
- 27:55Speaker 1: freight even if there wasn't anything out there for me.
- 28:01Speaker 1: If I were Johnny to just head ride back, I mean,
- 28:04Speaker 1: I'd go out to the resort and just go fishing
- 28:06Speaker 1: if nothing else. Also, I do kind of wonder about
- 28:09Speaker 1: Alan Reid's character. I don't remember him from the prior stories,
- 28:13Speaker 1: so did he do it? Well, we'll find out next
- 28:16Speaker 1: week as this Johnny Dollar story continues. All right, Well,
- 28:21Speaker 1: listen her comments and feedback. And this comes from Sheila.
- 28:26Speaker 1: She posts a comment on a Johnny Dollar episode and
- 28:32Speaker 1: she writes in she writes, I can't say in words
- 28:36Speaker 1: how much this show and host has done for me.
- 28:39Speaker 1: My pain is at times is so bad. I feel
- 28:45Speaker 1: as if I can't go on. My husband, even when
- 28:48Speaker 1: I'm at the hospital, will say, honey, do you want
- 28:50Speaker 1: your show on? He is very wise somehow he knows
- 28:55Speaker 1: it helps me to go someplace in my head to
- 28:57Speaker 1: forget the pain is as bad. Even at home, if
- 29:02Speaker 1: I'm feeling bad, I lay down with the old time radio.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I love Johnny Dollar most and I like the others. Also,
- 29:10Speaker 1: I enjoy the host so much, with all his insight,
- 29:13Speaker 1: the show is even better. Thank you, God bless Sheila. Well,
- 29:18Speaker 1: thank you so much, Sheila, and I appreciate your con
- 29:22Speaker 1: words and that we're a relief and help to you,
- 29:27Speaker 1: and it's sort of a feedback's definitely very meaningful. So
- 29:31Speaker 1: thanks so much for taking the time to write, and
- 29:34Speaker 1: God bless you as well. All right, well, that will
- 29:37Speaker 1: do it for today. Join us back here tomorrow for Dragnett.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Coming next Tuesday, it's the Crime Files of Flamond And
