- 0:00The 9 words more terrifying and the mayor who proves Reagan
- 0:04right. Welcome back to the Slippery
- 0:16Slope. I'm Jay Fallon.
- 0:18So today we're looking at a moment that perfectly captures
- 0:23the madness of modern politics, a moment so ironic, so self
- 0:27defeating that you almost have to laugh.
- 0:30New York Mayor Azor Zohan Zoran Mehndani.
- 0:35I stood up and quoted Ronald Reagan's famous warning.
- 0:38I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
- 0:41But then he said he disagrees with Reagan.
- 0:44He said the nine more terrifying words are I worked all day and
- 0:48can't feed my family. Let's check it out.
- 0:52I cannot help but think of the words of our 40th president,
- 0:55Ronald Reagan. He famously said the nine most
- 0:59terrifying words in the English language.
- 1:01Or I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
- 1:04It's a good quote but I disagree.
- 1:07I think 9 more terrifying words are actually.
- 1:10I worked all day and can't feed my family.
- 1:12Now, on the surface, that sounds compassionate.
- 1:16It sounds like a leader who cares about struggling families.
- 1:19But here's the problem, and it's it's a pretty big one.
- 1:23Mehndani's own socialist ideology is the reason families
- 1:28can't feed themselves in the first place.
- 1:32The irony? They just don't seem to hear it.
- 1:35This is the part that blows my mind.
- 1:38A socialist mere quotes Reagan, mocks Reagan, and then
- 1:42unintentionally proves Reagan right.
- 1:45Because Reagan wasn't warning about kindness.
- 1:49He he wasn't warning about compassion.
- 1:52He was warning about government control.
- 1:55The kind of control Mehndani openly embraces.
- 1:59Mamdani claims the government should step in, take over
- 2:04grocery stores no matter what price you're paying to open the
- 2:07grocery stores, which is way out of control.
- 2:10Then regulate prices and use the power of the state to fix the
- 2:15cost of living. But, but government doesn't
- 2:19create wealth. Government doesn't innovate and
- 2:24government doesn't build prosperity.
- 2:27Government spends other people's money, and when that money runs
- 2:32out, when it which it always does, the people suffer.
- 2:37It's the socialist playbook. This is the same pattern we've
- 2:42seen in every socialist experiment.
- 2:45They crush business with regulation and taxes.
- 2:48Australia anyone? Punish entrepreneurship?
- 2:51Definitely Australia right now. Drive out investment, hello the
- 2:55latest budget and watch prices rise and jobs disappear?
- 3:00Yes Australia. Then they claim only government
- 3:04can save people from the crisis that government created.
- 3:09It is the arsonist returning to the burning house with a bucket
- 3:13of water demanding applause. Mamdani talks about people
- 3:18working all day and and still struggling to feed their
- 3:21families. And yes, that is tragic but
- 3:24under his policy that's exactly what you get.
- 3:28Because when you destroy the economic engine, business,
- 3:33innovation, risk taking, entrepreneurship, you destroy
- 3:37the very thing that feeds families.
- 3:41So this is the real root of poverty.
- 3:44Here's the truth no socialists want wants to admit.
- 3:50Prosperity comes from work, you need to work.
- 3:54Prosperity comes from work, creativity and opportunity.
- 4:00Not government handouts never comes from government handouts.
- 4:06The Bible is clear about this. Proverbs.
- 4:10Proverbs 10/4 says lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent
- 4:15hands bring wealth. Say that again.
- 4:18Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
- 4:24As Scripture teaches personal responsibility, stewardship and
- 4:29productivity, it teaches that people are meant to build,
- 4:33create and contribute. But socialist ideology flips
- 4:38that upside down. It punishes the diligence and
- 4:41rewards dependency. It replaces personal
- 4:45responsibility with state control.
- 4:48It replaces opportunity with entitlements.
- 4:51Exactly what's happening here in Australia.
- 4:55And once people become dependent on government for food, housing,
- 4:59healthcare and income, government owns them, owns us.
- 5:05That's the part Mehndani doesn't say out loud.
- 5:10So Reagan was right. Reagan understood something that
- 5:14today's political class refuses to understand.
- 5:19Albanese When government grows, freedom shrinks.
- 5:24And when government becomes the provider, the regulator, the
- 5:28employer, the landlord and the grocery store, you don't have a
- 5:33society anymore. You have a dependency system.
- 5:37A system where politicians get to play saviour while spending
- 5:43money they never earned. A system where the people who
- 5:47actually work, build and create are punished.
- 5:51A system where the state becomes the centre of life and the
- 5:56individual becomes irrelevant. So when Mehndani says the most
- 6:01terrifying words are I worked all day and can't feed my
- 6:05family, he's right, but for the wrong reason.
- 6:09Because under his ideology, that's exactly what New Yorkers
- 6:14can expect. And unfortunately, I believe my
- 6:18opinion is this is exactly what Australians can expect.
- 6:23This is the slippery slope, this is the slope we're sliding down.
- 6:27Politicians creates the crisis. I've spoken about this before.
- 6:31This is exactly what happened during the great plan that we
- 6:34had a couple of years ago, especially when I was talking
- 6:36about police, certain police, commissioners creating the
- 6:39problem, creating the crisis, and then coming along and
- 6:42saying, hey, we can look at us, we have the answers, we will
- 6:45have the answers, we can fix the crisis, all the while
- 6:49disregarding the fact that they created the crisis in the 1st
- 6:51place. This is the slope we're sliding
- 6:54down. Politicians create the crisis,
- 6:56politicians blame the system. Politicians expand their power,
- 7:01and the public becomes more dependent, more controlled and
- 7:05less free. This is why we must be vigilant.
- 7:10This is why we must push back because once government becomes
- 7:16the provider of everything, it becomes the master of
- 7:21everything, and history shows us every single time that never
- 7:27ends well. As always, this is just my
- 7:32opinion and I'm still Jay Fallon.
- 7:36And thanks for listening to the Slippery Slope Podcast.
- 7:40I think you all know that I've always felt the 9 most
- 7:44terrifying words in the English language are I'm from the
- 7:48government and I'm here to help they.
- 7:51Decide they will take
