- 0:22Speaker 2: I hope keV in there, cav.

- 0:26Speaker 1: right place?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yo?

- 0:27Speaker 2: You got yeah, yeah, yeah, my man to come out
- 0:29Speaker 2: get you just tucking roll?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Oh man, what's been going on?
- 0:33Speaker 2: Man?
- 0:33Speaker 1: I know you got the comedy tour that you're kicking
- 0:35Speaker 1: off this week.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Just said, yeah, yeah, yeah, We're kicking off of San
- 0:38Speaker 2: Diego down at the Mic Drop, which is one of
- 0:42Speaker 2: my favorite clubs. It's only about five or six of
- 0:45Speaker 2: them in the country, and uh, they just do it right,
- 0:48Speaker 2: like they pack in the spot. People come in from
- 0:51Speaker 2: all the different cities. You know, Diego got all the
- 0:54Speaker 2: little you know, suburbs and this, that and the other.
- 0:56Speaker 2: So I look forward to doing that and then you know,
- 0:59Speaker 2: the next week Nashville and Baltimore.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I just start rolling. Yeah, you have had so many
- 1:05Speaker 1: different errors of your career that were all historical in
- 1:08Speaker 1: their own right. Thank you early MTV days. When did
- 1:10Speaker 1: you first get hired by MTV?
- 1:12Speaker 2: I got hired in ninety two, going like ninety one,
- 1:15Speaker 2: the end of ninety one going into ninety two. I
- 1:18Speaker 2: got like a thirteen week trial because back then they
- 1:21Speaker 2: were auditioning people to be vj's.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah, they who wants to be a VJ? Yeah?
- 1:26Speaker 2: It was like for people that are young right now
- 1:29Speaker 2: that don't know what that is. It was called the
- 1:31Speaker 2: video jockey because we used to promote music videos back
- 1:35Speaker 2: in the day. And so I was like, damn, man,
- 1:40Speaker 2: I got this audition in New York.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I'll go out.
- 1:43Speaker 2: That was a showcase. They saw me Tracy Jordan, who
- 1:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna give her a shot out. She was the
- 1:49Speaker 2: one that did the showcase for new talent, and she
- 1:52Speaker 2: just gave me that thirteen week trial and I won
- 1:56Speaker 2: the job.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Were you a part of the spring Break with Biggie
- 2:01Speaker 1: Smalls in Lake Havasu? Yeah? I was there. You were there?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Do you remember? You know there's a funny story that no,
- 2:07Speaker 2: So this is my first time in Lake Havasu. This
- 2:11Speaker 2: is this is called white boy fun because it is
- 2:14Speaker 2: just white people boats tied together, drunk, having the most
- 2:20Speaker 2: fun of their life, like drinking, going from.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Boat to boat.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Your girls are pulling their tops off. This is the
- 2:28Speaker 2: most fun I've ever had on a green lake because
- 2:30Speaker 2: the water was green to me, right, like gatorade.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Right. It's definitely no white trash spring break spot right, right.
- 2:39Speaker 2: But it was so fun. And you brought up what
- 2:42Speaker 2: made you bring up Biggie?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Because because I just remember, I'm from Arizona. You remember
- 2:46Speaker 1: when I was a kid there. I was like, damn,
- 2:48Speaker 1: they brought Biggie of Arizona. I mean obviously Lake Havasu
- 2:50Speaker 1: is nowhere near Phoenix, but it was just kind of cool.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yeah. And he couldn't swim. And I don't know if
- 2:55Speaker 2: you go when you when you when you see this
- 2:57Speaker 2: now that I said it, go watch it on YouTube.
- 3:00Speaker 2: We were on these pods in the water and Biggie,
- 3:03Speaker 2: I didn't know, Biggie had a fear of water. He
- 3:04Speaker 2: couldn't swim, and so we're standing there Big. It was
- 3:08Speaker 2: like little little hubble pub but sleep.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Drowned.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I'm like, Big, it's like a barge like it's not
- 3:19Speaker 2: going he was dated to get him on. It was crazy,
- 3:23Speaker 2: like he was literally like spasing.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I can imagine he's a bigger guy, and he's.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Big, he's thinking, you know, it's gonna tip over or whatever.
- 3:31Speaker 2: But they actually got him in a little season on there,
- 3:34Speaker 2: and they actually performed in the boats for a round.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I don't know if you remember, Oh, were you probably
- 3:38Speaker 2: like fifteen?
- 3:39Speaker 1: No, I'm seven. I was probably like eight.
- 3:41Speaker 2: You wasn't out there drinking?
- 3:43Speaker 1: No, no, no, I remember watching it on TV. Oh yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 1: hell yeah it was. It was epic. No, it was
- 3:48Speaker 1: definitely epic. Man. You were like a part of so
- 3:52Speaker 1: much of that era of hip hop. Like you were
- 3:54Speaker 1: in a Tupac video for Temptations, right, I was in Temptations.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Do you like did you did you ever get any
- 4:01Speaker 1: like like being an MTV at that time, was there
- 4:03Speaker 1: ever any of the Tupac Biggie East Coast, West Coast
- 4:06Speaker 1: stuff that came across your peripheral like.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Man, of course, of course. Man, So let me give
- 4:12Speaker 2: you a recap. So MTV at this time is the
- 4:17Speaker 2: only place to blow up if you're an artist. Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 2: you going there, You're gonna start selling records. You're gonna
- 4:24Speaker 2: go on summer tour, You're gonna take off, right, and
- 4:26Speaker 2: so at that time I.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Was getting everybody. It didn't matter.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I mean, the East Coast West Coast Beef thing came
- 4:33Speaker 2: out of nowhere like it was everything was good, good,
- 4:35Speaker 2: and then it was like whoa the source after the
- 4:38Speaker 2: source of Wars it got we That's when it got like, it's.
- 4:41Speaker 1: A problem with the Snoop Dogg speech.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah it was, Yeah, it was a problem. So what
- 4:46Speaker 2: when when I knew, when I knew this was going
- 4:50Speaker 2: to go all the way nuclear was, I got back
- 4:54Speaker 2: then they used to send me music CDs and you
- 4:57Speaker 2: know I would get the early releases. Yeah, I got
- 5:00Speaker 2: the early release and hit.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Him up.
- 5:04Speaker 2: The remix. There was four different versions that hit him
- 5:08Speaker 2: up on the CD. And I had a real nice
- 5:09Speaker 2: sound system in my green room. I could the first
- 5:14Speaker 2: the first bar. I had to turn it down because
- 5:16Speaker 2: he was cursing so bad. Hey, that's why I fucked you?
- 5:20Speaker 2: What turn that down? I was like, what is going on?
- 5:23Speaker 2: I'm listening good?
- 5:24Speaker 1: You good?
- 5:25Speaker 2: Beside? When we rut, I'm like, oh my god, I said, no,
- 5:29Speaker 2: it's over, It's over. Yeah, I knew right then. I
- 5:32Speaker 2: just knew it was gonna be over. And so then
- 5:35Speaker 2: for me, what was really tough was knowing if I
- 5:39Speaker 2: was gonna be good when I come out to the
- 5:41Speaker 2: West Coast, because I was coming out here.
- 5:43Speaker 1: A lot, and you were based in New York.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I was based in New York, but I was coming
- 5:48Speaker 2: out here interviewing Snoop. I came out here to interview
- 5:51Speaker 2: Doctor Dre for the album Me against the Uh it
- 5:56Speaker 2: was it all eyes on Me.
- 5:58Speaker 1: All Eyes on Me would have been that would have
- 5:59Speaker 1: been the two.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a double, the double ced Eyes on Me.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I came out here to interview Ice Cube, all this
- 6:09Speaker 2: West Coast stuff that was popping off. I mean, and
- 6:11Speaker 2: you gotta admit, at that time, the West was on
- 6:14Speaker 2: fire fire. I mean even you know, we had Mac Tin,
- 6:17Speaker 2: you had the West Side Connect thing cracking, you had
- 6:22Speaker 2: Nate Dog and and and Warren g a lot. It
- 6:25Speaker 2: was a lot, dazzing corrupt. So I was interviewing everyone,
- 6:30Speaker 2: but for whatever reason, I was kind of neutral New York. Yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 2: you know, but I'm saying I never had no beats
- 6:36Speaker 2: where people was like, yo, b you can't come out here. Whatever.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I was always good.
- 6:39Speaker 2: But I just always felt like I hope this don't
- 6:42Speaker 2: continue to go left because at that moment hip hop
- 6:45Speaker 2: was blowing up. I didn't want what happened to happen
- 6:48Speaker 2: actually right, you know?
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, now what was Park like man on set? Like
- 6:52Speaker 1: like like he had to be. It was like the coolest,
- 6:55Speaker 1: coolest dude.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Down the earthcat very passionate, actually really fun, you know,
- 7:00Speaker 2: got a great sense of humor, but like he had
- 7:03Speaker 2: a switch because I remember one time hanging out with
- 7:06Speaker 2: tupacing New York and turning on the news and he
- 7:08Speaker 2: was shooting at some cops. I was like, yo, I
- 7:11Speaker 2: was like, yo, he's bugging, Like I literally just saw
- 7:14Speaker 2: you in the club, Yo, chilling with some chicks having
- 7:18Speaker 2: a good time.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Turn on the news. He's shooting out with two cops
- 7:21Speaker 1: and beat the cakes in Atlanta? Rightah, crazy?
- 7:25Speaker 2: I said, Oh my god, he living too loud for me.
- 7:28Speaker 1: No, that's crazy, man, It really happened. Was uh? Was
- 7:32Speaker 1: that like New York era, like just the night life
- 7:34Speaker 1: of like going out and like I'm sure bigs around,
- 7:37Speaker 1: puffs around New York.
- 7:40Speaker 2: New York was on fire. You gotta think think about
- 7:43Speaker 2: it like this. It was the first to first because
- 7:47Speaker 2: at this time hip hop was going mainstream. Ca Cats
- 7:52Speaker 2: was selling platinum. You know, you was toopping out at
- 7:54Speaker 2: gold for a minute. Sure, you know you had cats
- 7:57Speaker 2: like Nas blowing up, you had the Fuji's blowing up,
- 8:00Speaker 2: you had Naughty by Nature blowing up. You know, I'll
- 8:03Speaker 2: give you Mike Tyson was a champion, world champion at
- 8:07Speaker 2: the time. So like you could go to a club
- 8:09Speaker 2: in New York and see Mike at the bar or
- 8:11Speaker 2: popping box, which is crazy, and I would see like
- 8:14Speaker 2: I'd be in the club and see Puff and I
- 8:16Speaker 2: see Jay and m and you'll see like un it was.
- 8:19Speaker 2: It was just one of those things where it was
- 8:21Speaker 2: like camps, you know what I mean, because Cats had
- 8:25Speaker 2: you know, you got Murder inc. Then you got bad Boy,
- 8:29Speaker 2: you got Rockefeller. You know, that was that era. It
- 8:32Speaker 2: was actually kind of dope.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Did you ever go to the tunnel? Yeah, the tunnel.
- 8:36Speaker 1: The tunnel. Everyone always says the tunnel was like the
- 8:38Speaker 1: most legendary space, dangerous.
- 8:41Speaker 2: It was everything the tunnel. You could. You could go
- 8:47Speaker 2: and meet the hottest qut from Brooklyn. You know, she
- 8:51Speaker 2: caught the train to the club with her little girls
- 8:53Speaker 2: or some girls, some Jersey girls and came over to
- 8:55Speaker 2: New York. Or you could be at a table with
- 8:58Speaker 2: some drug deals like you know, and they and they
- 9:01Speaker 2: in a good mood, you know what I mean. Or
- 9:03Speaker 2: you'll see you'll be in the club and you'll see
- 9:05Speaker 2: somebody like you know, Craig mac or whoever. At that time,
- 9:08Speaker 2: everybody was moving around. It was really dope. Or you'll
- 9:11Speaker 2: see nas hanging out like dang go they go bust
- 9:14Speaker 2: the rhymes.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Wow, it was like that. What is You did so
- 9:18Speaker 1: many of these spring breaks, which I miss seeing those
- 9:20Speaker 1: because they were so.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Legend because you were like four.
- 9:22Speaker 1: No. I actually DJed one of them, but it was
- 9:25Speaker 1: like in twenty ten or eleven with two chains, but
- 9:27Speaker 1: it was it was in Vegas, the palms obviously not
- 9:29Speaker 1: the same, not the same, not the same man, not
- 9:31Speaker 1: to say it. At that point they were still holding on. Yeah.

- 11:12Speaker 1: these springs because you were extremely famous at the time. Yes, sir,
- 11:16Speaker 1: women loved you at the time. They still do. They
- 11:18Speaker 1: still do. Shout out to your wife. She's a strong woman.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Yes she holds a death. But I'm curious, like, like
- 11:25Speaker 1: you had to have a crazy situation or crazy story.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I got one for you. So my first spring break
- 11:32Speaker 2: that I go to Daytona Beach. Right, So Polly shows
- 11:34Speaker 2: the man, right, So imagine he's like, he's like big bro,
- 11:38Speaker 2: he's a senior in high school.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I'm a freshman. Yeah, he's kind of like that.
- 11:41Speaker 2: But he puts, you know, takes me under his wing
- 11:43Speaker 2: or whatever. He's like, Bro, man, it's cool man to
- 11:46Speaker 2: meet you. Bro.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You're like doing good on the channel.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Man. It's like, like, I want to I want to take
- 11:51Speaker 2: you something. Man, I got to do this event. Bro,
- 11:53Speaker 2: you went a row. So I'm like, Polly, you're gonna
- 11:56Speaker 2: take me do some cool white boys ship, right, I'm like,
- 11:58Speaker 2: all right, whatever. He's like, Bro, I want you to
- 12:02Speaker 2: be a judge at a banana eating contest. And I'm
- 12:06Speaker 2: like is he I'm immediately like about to be offended
- 12:09Speaker 2: because I'm like, Yo, what what what?
- 12:11Speaker 1: What are you trying to say?
- 12:12Speaker 2: What are you trying to say? I'm taking it all wrong.
- 12:16Speaker 2: He's like, Bro, it's gonna be the most I do
- 12:18Speaker 2: these every summer. Bro, It's like the best thing I
- 12:22Speaker 2: could ever bring you to the cutest chicks.
- 12:24Speaker 1: It's gonna be crazy.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I'm like, and I'm like, man, what are they gonna
- 12:28Speaker 2: be doing with these bananas? It is a line of chicks,
- 12:32Speaker 2: thirty chicks, bikinis. It's four judges. We got the table
- 12:37Speaker 2: here full of bananas peeled already. You got chocolate, strawberry, butterscotch,
- 12:44Speaker 2: and whipped cream. And each girl as they coming up,
- 12:48Speaker 2: got to eat the banana anyway they want. By the
- 12:51Speaker 2: third girl, it's pornographic.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I'm about to say this sound yo, yo it is?
- 12:55Speaker 2: It goes so crazy. He's like, dude, you like it, man,
- 13:00Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, the fifth chick, that bro, it was
- 13:05Speaker 2: one chick, two bananas gone, come back out.
- 13:09Speaker 1: She won.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I knew she won.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I was like, she won. That's crazy.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that was the wild before because I never even
- 13:16Speaker 2: heard of nothing like that.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Because you know, now, I feel like the Ratchets selected
- 13:20Speaker 1: to uh do stuff with cucumbers now with pool party.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Oh they're doing a new thing.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yeah, like a little Boozy had this pool party that
- 13:27Speaker 1: went viral a few years ago and it was because
- 13:29Speaker 1: like all the chicks were deep thrown cucumbers.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Oh they turned it up. They turned it up. Oh yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 2: Boosie turned it up. We started out in the in
- 13:38Speaker 2: the Little League with the bananas.
- 13:41Speaker 1: For you man, you've had, like, like I said, so
- 13:44Speaker 1: many areas of your career, but like a show that
- 13:47Speaker 1: I actually really fucked with when I was younger was
- 13:49Speaker 1: Fast Lame, Yes, sir?
- 13:51Speaker 2: And was it one two seasons one when well we
- 13:54Speaker 2: went twenty episodes?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Was on Fox? Right?
- 13:56Speaker 2: It was on Fox? Yeah, and we came on after
- 13:59Speaker 2: American Item.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes. What was something you learned about like
- 14:03Speaker 1: going through because that wasn't necessarily like said most most
- 14:05Speaker 1: guys who are you know, funny guys or whatever I mean,
- 14:08Speaker 1: But you've also played so many different roles, But did
- 14:11Speaker 1: you learn anything about going through kind of the blender
- 14:13Speaker 1: of the TV game.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah. The one thing that I learned about switching from
- 14:18Speaker 2: being a comedian comedian comedian and then doing dramatic stuff,
- 14:22Speaker 2: and that was a one hour series drama, yes, no
- 14:25Speaker 2: action action series. It's that people forget that you're funny immediately, right.
- 14:30Speaker 2: They've been like, oh yo, heat a cop now you
- 14:32Speaker 2: know what I mean? You know, like people forget Ice
- 14:34Speaker 2: t as a rapper facts a lot, like like did
- 14:37Speaker 2: they just think he's sell insurance and how to get
- 14:39Speaker 2: your motive fixed?
- 14:40Speaker 1: Right? Yeah?
- 14:41Speaker 2: Like Ice Tea was cop killer. People forget like people
- 14:45Speaker 2: only go with what you're presenting them. They don't go
- 14:48Speaker 2: behind the wall and see everything. And so for me,
- 14:52Speaker 2: I didn't do stand up for about two years because
- 14:55Speaker 2: I didn't have time. I was working on that TV
- 14:57Speaker 2: show and fifteen sixteen hour day and stuff like that.
- 15:01Speaker 2: And so when I went back and start doing stand up,
- 15:05Speaker 2: when that show got canceled, everybody was like, I ain't
- 15:07Speaker 2: even know you as a comedian. I was like, what
- 15:10Speaker 2: in two years they forgot?
- 15:11Speaker 1: They forgot?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, in two years. That's why you always got to
- 15:14Speaker 2: stay in front of them.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Do you recall time? Because I feel like the one
- 15:17Speaker 1: thing that people are nervous about when it comes to
- 15:20Speaker 1: try and stand up. Is if they bomb, when is
- 15:22Speaker 1: like a memorable bombing moment for you? And how do
- 15:25Speaker 1: you deal with that if you're if you're in the
- 15:27Speaker 1: middle of that, you really can just do nothing but
- 15:31Speaker 1: keep it.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Moving, right, No, man, being being on stage is really
- 15:36Speaker 2: it's a it's a beautiful thing, but it's actually kind
- 15:38Speaker 2: of scary because you could fail. You know, you cannot
- 15:40Speaker 2: be good or whatever. You know, it's like missing a
- 15:42Speaker 2: foul shot, you know when you really need to make one.
- 15:45Speaker 2: That's what it feels like when you bomb. And so
- 15:48Speaker 2: to me, I think that one of the scariest things
- 15:53Speaker 2: for me when I bombed that very first bad time.
- 15:57Speaker 2: It's like I didn't know what to say. After that,
- 15:59Speaker 2: I kind of got locked up and people were like,
- 16:01Speaker 2: get to the joke, bro, Like people start yelling. I
- 16:05Speaker 2: didn't know how to deal with hecklers. I just was like,
- 16:07Speaker 2: good night, I got tapped out and I'm out. I
- 16:10Speaker 2: tell yah, yeah, yeah. I didn't know what to do,
- 16:11Speaker 2: so I had to I had to practice because you
- 16:14Speaker 2: got to practice for failure too. It's just like being
- 16:16Speaker 2: in a fight, like you know, you might have a
- 16:18Speaker 2: game plan, but he's he's he's killing that plan.
- 16:21Speaker 1: You got to adjust to the plan? Did you have?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Because the How to Be a Player soundtrack was legendary? Nice,
- 16:28Speaker 1: it's so good. Yeah. Did you have your hands in
- 16:31Speaker 1: any of the songs that got picked or did you
- 16:33Speaker 1: did they? Did they go to you for any feedback? Yeah? Yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 1: yeah I did.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Actually, one of the songs that I wanted to be
- 16:43Speaker 2: the lead was the one that they chose was with
- 16:46Speaker 2: fo Yeah boom boom boom boom boom boom to boom
- 16:51Speaker 2: boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Great video. I was in the video, Yeah boom.
- 16:57Speaker 2: It was a shout out to Drew here and Foxy Whoo.
- 17:02Speaker 2: That was that was it was. I had Chris, I
- 17:04Speaker 2: had Chris Webber in that video. I had Stephan Marbury
- 17:07Speaker 2: in that video.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I had I remember Steph, Yeah, Steph.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Steph was sort of like a godbrother or something like
- 17:15Speaker 2: the fairy god brother.
- 17:16Speaker 1: And did you Were you just friends with those guys
- 17:18Speaker 1: at the time.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I was cool with everybody. Yeah. See Web had
- 17:21Speaker 1: a CEA.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Web had a significant role in it, and.
- 17:24Speaker 1: He was also like a people don't know he made
- 17:26Speaker 1: a lot of hip hop beats and ship Yeah.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Yo, that's true. He did and he still does.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah, he still does. Yeah yeah. So yeah, so you're
- 17:34Speaker 1: do you help put that video together?
- 17:36Speaker 2: Know what happened was I was getting privy to hearing
- 17:40Speaker 2: the songs. Yeah, and and so what At that time,
- 17:44Speaker 2: the soundtracks on movies was like a second character. You know.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I don't know how they do it now, because.
- 17:51Speaker 1: It used to be an extension of the movie.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Yeah, like you could. Your soundtrack had to be equivalent
- 17:56Speaker 2: to the movie. Yes, And so for me, because I
- 17:59Speaker 2: was so trenched into music, I was just lucky enough
- 18:02Speaker 2: to be able to like, oh yo, I like that
- 18:03Speaker 2: one down to be a sexy We could use that
- 18:05Speaker 2: one right there for the love scene.
- 18:07Speaker 1: They like, yeah, we'll say that, Jode, that's a little
- 18:09Speaker 1: sexy vibe.
- 18:09Speaker 2: But this is how I felt like, that's how the
- 18:12Speaker 2: movie should open up. Booom boo boom boom boom boom
- 18:15Speaker 2: boom boom, Get you going, you know what I mean?
- 18:17Speaker 1: That's I picked that. It's crazy too, because if you
- 18:20Speaker 1: think about like, I don't think people understand like growing
- 18:22Speaker 1: up around that time, like the word player was really
- 18:24Speaker 1: a thing. There was a player haters. Yeah, if you're
- 18:27Speaker 1: a player, you were playing a bunch of different women.
- 18:29Speaker 1: But this movie had to have either positively or negatively
- 18:33Speaker 1: influenced a lot of young men.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I think I think it negatively influenced a lot of
- 18:38Speaker 2: guys because they thought they could do. You was juggling
- 18:40Speaker 2: in this I was juggling everything moving in that movie,
- 18:43Speaker 2: and everything was hand picked by me.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Oh wow. Yeah.
- 18:46Speaker 2: All those girls were, you know, selected on purpose because
- 18:51Speaker 2: I wanted it to. I wanted you to be like
- 18:54Speaker 2: at the candy store.
- 18:55Speaker 1: You know, did you know any of them prior? Nah? Okay,
- 18:58Speaker 1: I don't know if they were like yo, A couple
- 18:59Speaker 1: of my jump offs made.
- 19:01Speaker 2: No, no, no, not like that. But the only one
- 19:03Speaker 2: that I knew that i'd worked with before was Lark
- 19:05Speaker 2: Got It because Lark was Onna Save by the Bell
- 19:07Speaker 2: at the time, and I had interviewed her like a
- 19:09Speaker 2: year before on MTV Got so I knew her. But
- 19:12Speaker 2: the other girls were new, and I just wanted it
- 19:15Speaker 2: to be different types of women that were attractive, so like,
- 19:19Speaker 2: it wouldn't just be like, oh, he only liked this
- 19:21Speaker 2: type of girl. No, we like everything that's sexy and beautiful.
- 19:25Speaker 1: What was Uh, you know, because I think somebody who
- 19:28Speaker 1: we're gonna miss, who's got so many iconic movie roles,
- 19:30Speaker 1: a guy like Bernie. I was gonna say AJ's in
- 19:33Speaker 1: the movie, but Bernie's in the movie as well. But
- 19:35Speaker 1: talk about both of those guys, like I think you
- 19:37Speaker 1: know Bernie Sanders in ninety seven, he's still doing that.
- 19:40Speaker 1: No Bernie, Bernie Mack or Bernie Mack. That why I
- 19:43Speaker 1: say Bernie Sanders the politician. Yeah. Yeah, shout out to
- 19:47Speaker 1: our brothers at hard Dean man OTTs family. Of course,
- 19:50Speaker 1: they've been sponsoring the podcast for years now. You've been
- 19:52Speaker 1: seeing the mic flag for years now. Want to give
- 19:54Speaker 1: a shout out to our brothers. I just was in Vegas.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I had to pull up all right. Look, it's the
- 19:58Speaker 1: number one dispensary in the world. When I tell you, you
- 20:01Speaker 1: walk in that thing and the butt tenders are great.
- 20:04Speaker 1: They take care of you immediately. The selection is great.
- 20:07Speaker 1: So when you go to Vegas, you get into that cab,
- 20:09Speaker 1: you get into that uber immediately, say take me to Hardeing.
- 20:12Speaker 1: They don't know what they're doing, all right, they go
- 20:14Speaker 1: get you right, all right. The number one premium cannabis
- 20:16Speaker 1: dispensary in the world. They just got me right. I
- 20:18Speaker 1: was just in town for Raffie's birthday. Had to pull
- 20:22Speaker 1: up get right, just this nice little one on one
- 20:24Speaker 1: Hardeing jersey. These are not available, all right, shout to
- 20:28Speaker 1: them man, all right, salute to the family. Follow him
- 20:30Speaker 1: on Instagram Hardeing Underscore Las Vegas. Sorry, let's get back
- 20:33Speaker 1: to the podcast. But Bernie Mack in ninety seven, he's
- 20:36Speaker 1: still doing death Jam.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Yeah, he's still He's on We're on tour together. He
- 20:41Speaker 2: was like a big bro to me.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Man.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I love Bernie a lot, man, and we really really
- 20:45Speaker 2: bonded as friends. And you know, I was like, Bernie, Man,
- 20:48Speaker 2: you should do this movie with me, man, because we
- 20:50Speaker 2: had the Who's the Man together too, And.
- 20:52Speaker 1: He was like being here. You know, so you got
- 20:54Speaker 1: Bertie a man.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Can I say what'll say? Can I do what I'll do? Like, yo, man,
- 20:59Speaker 2: We're gonna let you right. So Bernie gets in the movie. Man,
- 21:02Speaker 2: it's so many takes. I couldn't even look at him, man,
- 21:05Speaker 2: because he was Yo, man, You're so fucking funny.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Bro. I couldn't even look at him. Bro.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I had to you will see me as some tapes
- 21:12Speaker 2: jumping like because they would let him just say he
- 21:16Speaker 2: made up that whole scene. But Disney, yeah yeah, that
- 21:19Speaker 2: wasn't scripted.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Oh that was inscripted. Oh hell no, that can we
- 21:26Speaker 1: attribute but Dissey to uh, to Bernie, that's Bernie. That
- 21:30Speaker 1: came from his brain.
- 21:31Speaker 2: That just came out of his mouth.
- 21:34Speaker 1: And everybody's like, we put it in the movie. Put
- 21:36Speaker 1: it in the movie. It's done.
- 21:38Speaker 2: But dissy booty digging pussy, that's what it smell like.
- 21:42Speaker 2: That Are you imagine hearing that for the first time.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I ain't never heard nobody say no ship like that.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I was, man, I was.
- 21:49Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 21:50Speaker 2: That's that's the essence of Bernie and A. J. Johnson
- 21:53Speaker 2: also to a very very very funny guy.
- 21:55Speaker 1: He uh.
- 21:56Speaker 2: He was another one that can improv beyond words. Beyond
- 22:00Speaker 2: the words you could not write what he could say
- 22:02Speaker 2: off the top of his head. Rest in peace to
- 22:05Speaker 2: both of those guys, man, they were absolutely incredible for me.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Legends you are attributed with creating booty call the term, yes, sir,
- 22:14Speaker 1: what what is the origin of this? What?
- 22:17Speaker 2: It came out in ninety two? Ninety I did it
- 22:21Speaker 2: in ninety one. It probably came hit. It was a bit.
- 22:25Speaker 2: It was a bit on Death Company, jail got it
- 22:27Speaker 2: and it just blew up, Like the phrase just blew up,
- 22:30Speaker 2: and everybody was like, Yo, I'm gonna get me a
- 22:33Speaker 2: booty call, like because I just I just I feel
- 22:36Speaker 2: like I just nailed the essence of what it is,
- 22:38Speaker 2: you know, calling the check up, trying to get her
- 22:40Speaker 2: to come to the crib, you know, saying like, Yo,
- 22:43Speaker 2: she's like, what we gonna do? I don't even know,
- 22:45Speaker 2: you know, just pull up, you know what I mean.
- 22:47Speaker 2: That's every guy in the world. That's every guy that
- 22:50Speaker 2: got a new crib. Your roommate left and you got
- 22:53Speaker 2: a little shorty coming by, you know. That's the essence
- 22:55Speaker 2: of it. And I just didn't know it was gonna
- 22:57Speaker 2: become such a popular term.
- 22:58Speaker 1: The deaf comedy jam era was so legendary because you
- 23:02Speaker 1: had so many people come out of it. Did you
- 23:05Speaker 1: guys realize how special it was at the time, Like Livally,
- 23:08Speaker 1: we knew.
- 23:09Speaker 2: We knew because the buzz was crazy. You got to
- 23:13Speaker 2: understand it had never been an opportunity. It had never
- 23:17Speaker 2: been an opportunity in black comedy where everybody was going
- 23:20Speaker 2: to get a shot at one time. You know, it
- 23:22Speaker 2: would be like an NBA draft where all of the
- 23:25Speaker 2: best players are going to get a chance to go
- 23:27Speaker 2: to the league. Right, That's what it felt like. It
- 23:30Speaker 2: was like, if you get on this show, Scott's the
- 23:32Speaker 2: limit because you're going to be deemed one of the
- 23:35Speaker 2: top comedians in the country. And that's how we did it.
- 23:38Speaker 2: We came in hard. Everybody had eight minutes to get busy,
- 23:41Speaker 2: and you wanted your eight minutes to stand them up.
- 23:44Speaker 1: What was the hardest guy you ever had to follow?
- 23:46Speaker 1: Where you watched it set and you're like, fuck, that's crazy,
- 23:50Speaker 1: I'm supposed to follow this shit. Wow?
- 23:52Speaker 2: The hardest person to follow was Bernie Mack.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I can imagine a Bernie Mack.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Was a monster man, talk about you had to be
- 24:01Speaker 2: on your a game. You could not slack with him.
- 24:06Speaker 2: And he was just hosting the Deaf Jam Tour and
- 24:08Speaker 2: he was killing everybody.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Murdering it.
- 24:11Speaker 2: He was getting standing ovations as this before the show
- 24:16Speaker 2: started while people were going to their seats. That's bro.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Do you know how hard that is? That's how funny
- 24:23Speaker 2: Bernie is.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Man? Who yo was there? What's the most awkward situation
- 24:30Speaker 1: where interview you did with MTV. Maybe somebody high, maybe
- 24:33Speaker 1: somebody was drunk, Maybe somebody didn't want to be interviewed,
- 24:36Speaker 1: maybe somebody was an asshole. Was there ever like an interview?
- 24:38Speaker 1: You're like, god, that was that was interesting?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Oh well, I mean the only one I could say
- 24:43Speaker 2: that was I guess like that was R Kelly and
- 24:46Speaker 2: Aliah Oh wow, yeah, because he just left. He just
- 24:51Speaker 2: like like they we were doing the interview, asking about
- 24:56Speaker 2: the album, talk to her, talk to him talking. This
- 24:58Speaker 2: is when she's promoting agent ag ain't nothing but a
- 25:01Speaker 2: number And they was obviously married at the time. Nobody
- 25:05Speaker 2: knew they had on this cute little short set, same
- 25:08Speaker 2: little match and Mickey Mouse bullshit on what the fuck?
- 25:11Speaker 2: And in the middle of the interview, he was like,
- 25:12Speaker 2: we're done. I was like what. I was like you
- 25:16Speaker 2: in the bathroom looking around and ship all the producers
- 25:18Speaker 2: come running out the back of what's going on? Man?
- 25:20Speaker 2: Robert Sleeving, He's sitting in a limo. I'm like for he?
- 25:23Speaker 1: So did Aliah leave too? Yeah? They left?
- 25:27Speaker 2: So rumor has it was at that time he got
- 25:29Speaker 2: in his feelings about me talking to her like that.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Do you know what you said?
- 25:33Speaker 2: That might nothing man, it was all interview. Man, I
- 25:36Speaker 2: was I was just being yourself. Yeah, I was just
- 25:38Speaker 2: being myself and like we was laughing or whatever. I
- 25:41Speaker 2: don't even when we went back and looked at it,
- 25:44Speaker 2: it was nothing in there. I think it was just
- 25:46Speaker 2: the energy of her laughing with somebody else and maybe.
- 25:49Speaker 1: He's like, you can't laugh with another man.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Nah, you my little shorty baby. Age ain't nothing but
- 25:54Speaker 2: the number.
- 25:55Speaker 1: And so did everyone know they were together? No thing?
- 26:00Speaker 2: She was in the ninth grade. I think at the time.
- 26:02Speaker 1: That's my thing.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I just holler you when you're sixteen, ninth.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Grade, tenth grade, ninth or tenth grade. My thing is
- 26:08Speaker 1: is like who was around her? That was like, ah,
- 26:10Speaker 1: you're pushing this album called AG nothing but a Number,
- 26:12Speaker 1: and R Kelly's with you everywhere. We got to ask
- 26:15Speaker 1: these questions.
- 26:15Speaker 2: But you got to understand back then, having R. Kelly
- 26:20Speaker 2: executive produce your album.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Huge deal, Like it's the biggest shit.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my god, he did the whole album and
- 26:29Speaker 2: that was a big deal. And so she was brand new.
- 26:33Speaker 2: You know, back then, we didn't even put two and
- 26:37Speaker 2: two together. AG ain't nothing but a number. We didn't
- 26:40Speaker 2: even think about it. Back then, Yeah right, it didn't
- 26:45Speaker 2: even like we were just like, oh, that's a nice
- 26:47Speaker 2: thing then.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And then when the news started to come out, you
- 26:49Speaker 1: were like, oh right.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Fuck, just told on yourself, homie. What was up?
- 26:58Speaker 1: Rest in peace of Nono Luis who passed the way
- 27:02Speaker 1: a legendary anti personality.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Incredible person, wonderful system man. That was tough because Ananda
- 27:11Speaker 2: had all the boxes checked off. Beautiful, smart, intuitive, funny,
- 27:20Speaker 2: down to earth. She was just perfect, bro, and we
- 27:23Speaker 2: we just loved her to death and nobody knew she
- 27:26Speaker 2: was sick. Now, she didn't look sick or whatever, you know,
- 27:29Speaker 2: or she didn't go from here to be really sick
- 27:32Speaker 2: looking or anything. She just looked normal. Then she was
- 27:34Speaker 2: just gone. This is crazy. So the most uncanny thing.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I went to her memorial, and she knew she was dying, right,
- 27:45Speaker 2: She didn't want to do certain medicines and stuff she did,
- 27:48Speaker 2: you know, so this you know, realistic thing or whatever.
- 27:53Speaker 2: But what was so uncanny She did a whole interview
- 27:58Speaker 2: thing of herself alive, knowing that she was going to
- 28:01Speaker 2: be gone, and they played that at the memorial, so
- 28:04Speaker 2: she she knew, bro, it was just creepy dope. She
- 28:08Speaker 2: wanted to stay alive to see her son graduating. Wow, man,
- 28:12Speaker 2: it was it was deep, bro. It was everybody was crying.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Bro. It was crazy at that time. Or you guys
- 28:18Speaker 1: like you have like this personality of MTV cast members.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Like like a bond like we're like like like.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Even like a guy like Kurt Loader. Guys ever hang
- 28:29Speaker 1: out with Kurt.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Well, we don't get to see it in the studio,
- 28:32Speaker 2: but like we all kind of still have these little
- 28:36Speaker 2: overlapping friendships. You know, we bonded, we kind of grew
- 28:40Speaker 2: up together at that time. We were all very very young.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Like Kennedy, I still stay in touch with her. I
- 28:49Speaker 2: just saw Simon Rex a couple of weeks ago.
- 28:53Speaker 1: He was hanging out with like riff Raff.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I don't know what he's doing, but you know he's alive.
- 28:58Speaker 2: So I'm proud of that. I haven't seen Duff or
- 29:05Speaker 2: anybody like. I haven't seen Let me see who else,
- 29:13Speaker 2: John Cencio. I haven't seen Matt Penfield.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Matt Penfield was legend. Hey Bgger's ball man. I saw
- 29:21Speaker 1: that dude somewhere. I love Matt Penfield Jersey Boy. In
- 29:25Speaker 1: the last decade, I saw Matt Penfield somewhere and I
- 29:27Speaker 1: was just like.
- 29:28Speaker 2: And he was my first he was my first chat GPT.
- 29:32Speaker 2: He knew everything music nerd. He's a music nerd for sure, don't.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Diple Pilots eighty four. You know he was that guy.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Do you have any perks or rather, does Shaq have
- 29:45Speaker 1: any perks with you being his cousin when he first
- 29:47Speaker 1: comes into the league.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Are you guys? I think it's I think it's very
- 29:50Speaker 2: I think it's it works. It works both ways. It
- 29:53Speaker 2: doesn't hurt.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Either, Like, were you guys close cousins?
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, yeah, So I just talked to him.
- 29:58Speaker 1: He goes LSU and this ship is just crazy.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Bro, Bro, this is what's so crazy. How we just
- 30:05Speaker 2: we always laugh? How did this happen?
- 30:07Speaker 1: Right?
- 30:08Speaker 2: You just almost summed it up. Shack goes to l
- 30:11Speaker 2: s U. I'm coming up, I'm graduating from Rutgers. I'm
- 30:15Speaker 2: literally don't even know in the next two years, I'm
- 30:18Speaker 2: about to be famous. I don't know that yet. Shack's
- 30:22Speaker 2: down there tearing Rims down, going bonkers. Right, So within
- 30:26Speaker 2: two years, because he only did two with LSU, I
- 30:28Speaker 2: think I believe, right, So two let's say two years,
- 30:32Speaker 2: two years. He's gone two years. I'm blowing up. It
- 30:36Speaker 2: happened so bugged out. Cut to He's in the league,
- 30:40Speaker 2: ain't Orlando, I'm on MTV. Bam, We're back together. It's crazy,
- 30:46Speaker 2: it's crazy.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And then he's like he almost immediately becomes like a
- 30:49Speaker 1: cultural thing.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Yeah, because he's it was like he was the big
- 30:52Speaker 2: jolly green jaion. Yo.
- 30:54Speaker 1: It's like, I remember you could buy the Shack toys
- 30:56Speaker 1: quick Shack, I have the Super Nintendo game everything, because
- 31:03Speaker 1: am fucking what was the other joint steel steal.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I told him not to be a genie, but he did.
- 31:10Speaker 2: He did it anyway.
- 31:11Speaker 1: I think I think I'll take his am over Steele,
- 31:14Speaker 1: You'll take I just I think neither movie is good, right, right,
- 31:19Speaker 1: But for comedic purposes to see Shack as a giant genie,
- 31:21Speaker 1: it works. It works for sure. Shout out to Raffi
- 31:24Speaker 1: Law Group, our family. Yes, it's been so dope to
- 31:28Speaker 1: partner with, you know, such a name and brand and

- 31:33Speaker 1: to Raffi Law Group, man Arizona's premier personal injury law firm.

- 31:41Speaker 1: we do this stuff on the Bootleg cap podcast and
- 31:43Speaker 1: you see us partnering with brands. We're very selective about
- 31:46Speaker 1: who we connect with, and Raffi is someone who's actually
- 31:49Speaker 1: helped my family, helped my wife get a settlement, all right,
- 31:53Speaker 1: has helped over seventy thousand people in Arizona. No matter
- 31:57Speaker 1: what happens, man, car accident, crash, injury, you maybe get
- 32:01Speaker 1: bit by a dog, I don't know, whatever it is,
- 32:03Speaker 1: Raffi Law Group makes the process less stressful. They put
- 32:07Speaker 1: money in your pocket. Yes, the name you can trust.

- 32:19Speaker 1: eight eight four three three three And want to wish
- 32:22Speaker 1: a big happy birthday to Raffi's just celebrated his fortieth birthday.
- 32:26Speaker 1: We had a good time in Vegas. Fifty cent was there,
- 32:28Speaker 1: pauly D was there, mad Rich was there. E c
- 32:32Speaker 1: Rock was there. It was a movie, all right, Secretary
- 32:35Speaker 1: of State was there. We were just hanging out, Man Show.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Look shout out to Brandon Raffi. Don't forget Raffi Law Group.
- 32:40Speaker 1: The only calling you to make. If you're an az

- 32:45Speaker 1: any sort of injury situation, they'll take care you immediately
- 32:49Speaker 1: call RAFFI. Baby. Let's get back to the podcast. Yo.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Did you feel like uh uh? Because you you're in,
- 32:56Speaker 1: you got You're in some awesome cult classics. I think
- 32:59Speaker 1: a movie like The Brothers that I think came out about.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I think you just celebrated twenty five years of being released. Yeah,
- 33:04Speaker 1: The Brothers. Is there a movie of yours that you
- 33:07Speaker 1: feel like doesn't get enough love that is just like
- 33:10Speaker 1: a favorite for you.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I think one of the movies I did that should
- 33:14Speaker 2: get a lot of love is Love Stinks.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Love Stinks?
- 33:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a movie I did with Tyra Banks
- 33:23Speaker 2: Bridget Nielsen.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Was Tyra Banks your love us? She was?
- 33:27Speaker 2: Yeah, she was my love interest. Uh, French Stewart okay.
- 33:31Speaker 2: And Jason Bateman, Oh the Bateman's man, Come on, Black Rabbit.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Jason Bateman's awesome.
- 33:38Speaker 2: And you know who else was in that movie? Oh?
- 33:40Speaker 2: You know, not that movie. I did a movie called
- 33:43Speaker 2: Buying the Cow.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Bionic buying, Buying a Cow, Buying the Cow, Buying the Cow.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Interesting and Ryan who plays I'm thinking of his name
- 33:55Speaker 2: right now. I'm joining Blank Ryan. He's Superstar, Superstar, did
- 33:59Speaker 2: all the superhero real stuff.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Oh fuck, I don't know.
- 34:02Speaker 2: He's got He's the character with the with the two
- 34:04Speaker 2: Swords of the back right here. Oh oh Ryan, that
- 34:09Speaker 2: man that pool bruh.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Ryan the main dude. He's this is gonna bother me.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Why can't I think of it? I know I know him.
- 34:18Speaker 1: He's in everything we are talking about. Ryan Reynolds.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Yeah, me and Roynald Reynolds did a movie together too.
- 34:24Speaker 1: That's fire Man. Are you still like, I guess what
- 34:27Speaker 1: motivate you now? Because I feel like you have. If
- 34:29Speaker 1: you're gonna do the stand up thing, that's got to
- 34:31Speaker 1: be something you you love and it's got to be
- 34:34Speaker 1: something that you like, you kind of got to train for,
- 34:37Speaker 1: you know, like, oh, it's a random Tuesday. Let me
- 34:39Speaker 1: pull up to the laugh Factory and get off five minutes.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I did, I did.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I did that a week ago.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I went to.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Chocolate Sundays and Laugh Factory legendary blew it up like
- 34:50Speaker 2: fifteen minutes of straight fire right, and that to me
- 34:54Speaker 2: And I just had a dude walk up to me
- 34:57Speaker 2: and say, yo, man, I was at Chocolate Sunday's your man.
- 35:00Speaker 1: You got that?
- 35:00Speaker 2: You still got that fied. I was like, yeah, that's good,
- 35:03Speaker 2: that's what.
- 35:04Speaker 1: You want to hear. Yeah, yeah. Do you do that
- 35:07Speaker 1: often when you know you're gonna be hitting the road,
- 35:09Speaker 1: just make sure you can't.
- 35:10Speaker 2: You don't want to be that. That's the thing about
- 35:12Speaker 2: by stand up like you don't want to come off
- 35:14Speaker 2: rusty because because your rhythm, you know your time, it
- 35:17Speaker 2: could be off. So you gotta get you gotta get
- 35:19Speaker 2: some reps up. So when you hit that role like that,
- 35:21Speaker 2: you like, bam bam, bam bam.
- 35:24Speaker 1: You know what.
- 35:24Speaker 2: You know what you're saying. You know where you're going,
- 35:26Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah for sure? Yeah do you you you have a
- 35:31Speaker 1: I guess a pretty nice repertoire of music videos. You've
- 35:34Speaker 1: been in Jamie Fox blame it.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Blame it on it, don't blame it on it. We
- 35:38Speaker 2: talked about I was in Temptations.
- 35:41Speaker 1: We talked about the Foxy Brown I was in.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I was in.
- 35:47Speaker 1: The Brat, give it to you legend, this early Brat.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Early Brat. Everybody was in that one. Yeah, was there
- 35:54Speaker 2: another one?
- 35:55Speaker 1: Could you kind of were like the the like we
- 35:57Speaker 1: need an attractive Londoners.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Yeah. I was always the handsome love instertrants guy.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Whatever. What was the most interesting video shoot? You've been
- 36:04Speaker 1: a part of Temptations?
- 36:07Speaker 2: Why?
- 36:07Speaker 1: Why?
- 36:08Speaker 2: Because if you go back and watch that movie, it
- 36:11Speaker 2: was like being in a in a voyeurs club or
- 36:14Speaker 2: something like that. Because if you go back, we shot
- 36:17Speaker 2: that in an old hotel downtown La Coolio is like
- 36:22Speaker 2: the waiter that's delivering all the food to all the rooms.
- 36:27Speaker 2: And if you remember, if you see the video, you
- 36:29Speaker 2: look through the keyhole and then you can see what's
- 36:31Speaker 2: in there. And then I was in a love scene
- 36:33Speaker 2: in this big furry bed with Jasmine guy. Wow, you
- 36:39Speaker 2: know how many people was in that video?
- 36:41Speaker 1: Jada Clio serving.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Food like Colio go back.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Iced Tea was in it. Iced tea.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Iced tea was the guy at the at the at
- 36:52Speaker 2: the counter, the receptionist, so iced tea was in it.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Coolio was in it, Tretch was in it. Salt and
- 36:58Speaker 2: Pepper was in it. Jada Pinkey was in it. Damn, damn,
- 37:04Speaker 2: Jasmine guy. I'm just going down the list. That's crazy, yo.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Who do you put as your deaf comedy? Jam Mount
- 37:10Speaker 1: Rushmore that is a great question.
- 37:16Speaker 2: First of all, Martin Lawrence shot out to Martin. Of course,
- 37:20Speaker 2: you can't say death jam without mart Lawrence. You got
- 37:22Speaker 2: to go, Martin, you gotta go. Bernie yep Um. Trying
- 37:28Speaker 2: to think somebody death comedy jail.
- 37:34Speaker 1: That is hard.
- 37:35Speaker 2: So I mean I only get two more, two more,
- 37:38Speaker 2: two more, I would say, Chris Tucker.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and me and you I love it, I
- 37:50Speaker 1: killed it.
- 37:50Speaker 2: What I'm just trying to think of people who had
- 37:53Speaker 2: explosive sets.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Can we talk about because I think Russell Simmons, for
- 37:57Speaker 1: all of the better or worse things he's known for
- 38:00Speaker 1: right now, uh, he did have a lot to do
- 38:02Speaker 1: with helping the comedic scene in a real way, Yeah,
- 38:05Speaker 1: with elevating us with yeah ev I mean he even
- 38:07Speaker 1: executive produced the movie How to Be a Player? Absolutely,
- 38:10Speaker 1: Can you speak to like Russ's kind of just like
- 38:13Speaker 1: I guess slept on uh impact on comedy, because I
- 38:17Speaker 1: don't think you can talk about it.
- 38:18Speaker 2: I think I think you know, what people don't realize
- 38:21Speaker 2: about Russell Simmons, you know, is that he has always
- 38:25Speaker 2: been a pioneer for the music, you know, and so
- 38:28Speaker 2: his early days of him and Rick Rubin you know,
- 38:32Speaker 2: creating deaf comedy jam in a college dorm is crazy
- 38:35Speaker 2: for sure, insane. I mean, that's just just the concept
- 38:38Speaker 2: of two guys sitting together going, Yo, we're going to
- 38:41Speaker 2: create something that don't exist, and it's gonna be big,
- 38:43Speaker 2: and it's gonna be crazy, and we're going to change lives.
- 38:46Speaker 2: That's that's dope. He did literally the same thing with comedy.
- 38:51Speaker 2: He thought that urban comedy was the funniest representation of
- 38:56Speaker 2: the culture of hip hop. You know what we were
- 38:58Speaker 2: talking about, the energy music, Like black comics are the
- 39:02Speaker 2: only comics that Toda's day come on stage to music,
- 39:04Speaker 2: right right, right, right right, Well, white guys come out,
- 39:06Speaker 2: they just say, hey, there's guys, here's Ryan, Hey guys.
- 39:10Speaker 2: You know, we come out to hip hop's it's a
- 39:13Speaker 2: part of what we do, is the feeling is, it's
- 39:15Speaker 2: the skin of the game. And Russell definitely saw that
- 39:19Speaker 2: and he said, hey, man, I'm going to present this
- 39:22Speaker 2: to HBO and he changed our lives as a lot
- 39:25Speaker 2: of guys became movie stars tv stars from him.
- 39:27Speaker 1: One hundred percent, man, And that was kind of like
- 39:29Speaker 1: the beginning of it. Yes, sir, all right, dude, well listen,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I got to ask you about this because everyone in
- 39:35Speaker 1: comedy is talking about this roast that just happened with
- 39:37Speaker 1: Kevin Hart. Yeah, it's crazy. I see both sides of
- 39:40Speaker 1: the coin. Yeah, yeah, I've seen, like, you know, a
- 39:44Speaker 1: lot of people coming to fend Tony hinchflip. But what
- 39:46Speaker 1: are your thoughts about just the roast and like, do
- 39:48Speaker 1: you think some of the jokes went too far? Yeah?
- 39:51Speaker 2: I do think some of the jokes went too far.
- 39:53Speaker 2: But but that's what the roast is.
- 39:55Speaker 1: It's kind of the point of the roast.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Like I'm to me, I'm like, if you ain't, if
- 40:00Speaker 2: you can't, if you can't take the heat, don't go
- 40:03Speaker 2: in the kitchen.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Right.
- 40:04Speaker 2: That's why I would never do a rose. I don't
- 40:07Speaker 2: want to be in part. I don't want to be
- 40:08Speaker 2: a part.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Of a roast.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I'd rather be able to make you laugh about yourself.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I don't want to hurt you. Like some of that
- 40:14Speaker 2: shit could go too hard, you.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Know what I'm saying. When they were talking about Cheryl
- 40:18Speaker 1: Underwood's that's crazy, but I guess you knew that they were.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but she but she she's a g with it.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yo, But.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Some of that stuff, you know, that George Floyd thing
- 40:27Speaker 2: was it was nothing and you can you can't get
- 40:30Speaker 2: around it. There's certain things you cannot make fun of.
- 40:34Speaker 2: There's no way to make light of it. It's just
- 40:36Speaker 2: just inappropriate. So why do that joke because you could
- 40:39Speaker 2: do something else, like you could do you could do
- 40:42Speaker 2: that joke differently, if you want to talk about the
- 40:46Speaker 2: same premise, use a different You could still get a
- 40:48Speaker 2: joke off, like, you don't have to use it that way.
- 40:50Speaker 1: That's why I don't.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Understand why they didn't they do it that way, Like
- 40:54Speaker 2: why they say, well, you know what, I don't want
- 40:56Speaker 2: to take people out the joke. It's just like sometimes
- 40:58Speaker 2: you do a political joke and or you might do
- 41:01Speaker 2: something a little too you know, male dominant women, Oh
- 41:06Speaker 2: my god, Like you know what I mean, if you
- 41:08Speaker 2: make people do this this too much?
- 41:10Speaker 1: Like you can.
- 41:10Speaker 2: But you can still have a cool pen and write
- 41:13Speaker 2: a real good joke and be smart about it. But
- 41:15Speaker 2: sometimes you gotta be just a little mindful, you know
- 41:18Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 41:19Speaker 1: Do you feel I just saw did you see what
- 41:20Speaker 1: happened with Carlos Mencia? He got arrested. No, what happened?
- 41:23Speaker 1: So he got arrested with like, I think twelve tax
- 41:26Speaker 1: fraud charges. He's in jail. He's actually arrested.
- 41:30Speaker 2: In Carlos Mencia is in jail, is.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Currently in federal custody. What yes, So for what they said,
- 41:38Speaker 1: he did not report over eight million dollars of earnings
- 41:41Speaker 1: in the last I don't know X amount of years.
- 41:44Speaker 1: So I was gonna ask you now that you've just
- 41:46Speaker 1: found out about this, do you feel like it? That
- 41:49Speaker 1: is one of the things that's hard to kind of
- 41:51Speaker 1: figure out when you are a comedian, is like how
- 41:53Speaker 1: to get your finances right, and cause.
- 41:56Speaker 2: You know, you make a lot of money fast sometimes.
- 41:59Speaker 1: And then it's a lot of time. He had ninety
- 42:00Speaker 1: nine money, yep.
- 42:01Speaker 2: You sometimes you're getting cash, you know.
- 42:04Speaker 1: So it's like, I feel like it's easy to avoid
- 42:06Speaker 1: paying taxes when it's like not front of mind. I
- 42:08Speaker 1: guess yeah.
- 42:09Speaker 2: But you also got to have an accountant to you know,
- 42:12Speaker 2: you got to have bookkeeping. You got to be able
- 42:14Speaker 2: to protect yourself because if if they do if they
- 42:18Speaker 2: do all your shows and they go back and say,
- 42:21Speaker 2: you made two million dollars last year and you didn't
- 42:25Speaker 2: report nothing, and we know you made two million dollars
- 42:28Speaker 2: because we went to all the venues, and because what
- 42:30Speaker 2: happens is the venues ten ninety nine, they don't want
- 42:33Speaker 2: it on them, right, so they put it on you. You
- 42:36Speaker 2: ain't hey, I gave you. I gave you forty thousand,
- 42:39Speaker 2: all right, don't look for me. I gave you the
- 42:40Speaker 2: forty thousand. So they send the government to your career.
- 42:43Speaker 2: You're so if you don't report it. Yeah, they only
- 42:48Speaker 2: do that because it's a massive for sure something happened,
- 42:52Speaker 2: because he's locked up like it ain't like he made bell.
- 42:55Speaker 1: He's been locked up for like a week.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Wow, I didn't even know that when it got him
- 43:00Speaker 2: to hear that, bro crazy, You.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Were somebody who was on Chelsea Lately show regularly. I
- 43:06Speaker 1: feel like she doesn't get enough credit for the platform
- 43:09Speaker 1: she gave up and coming comedians.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, man, Chelsea's a rider man.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Like I found out about Joe Coy from her show.
- 43:15Speaker 2: There's a bunch of guys and girls that came on
- 43:17Speaker 2: regularly like that sat at that panel and was able
- 43:20Speaker 2: to just get off jokes and have fun and shout
- 43:22Speaker 2: out to Chelsea for that.
- 43:23Speaker 1: That was really really cool.
- 43:25Speaker 2: And people that don't know how down the earth she
- 43:28Speaker 2: really is even though she comes off super edgy and shit,
- 43:30Speaker 2: but she's like down to earth and super cool.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Did she ever try to throw it at you? Well,
- 43:34Speaker 1: you're a married man, so I am assuming that man.
- 43:36Speaker 2: No, she never tried, but she liked.
- 43:38Speaker 1: She comes across like she's like just trying to She
- 43:42Speaker 1: she like she needed She's everybody now.
- 43:46Speaker 2: When I when I was doing Chelsea, she was dating
- 43:49Speaker 2: a dude from CBS at the time, I thought.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Good for her. Shout out to Chelsea. Do you have
- 43:53Speaker 1: a secret because you just celebrated twenty five years of marriage?
- 43:57Speaker 1: What is your secret to success in a marriage?
- 44:01Speaker 2: Compromise, balance, consideration.
- 44:07Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 44:07Speaker 2: It's like, you gotta make time for your family. You
- 44:09Speaker 2: gotta make time for your kids. You gotta make time
- 44:11Speaker 2: for yourself. Like it's always about how do you utilize
- 44:15Speaker 2: your time? Because if you don't make the time, you
- 44:19Speaker 2: miss it. Think about it, it's risk. You work here
- 44:22Speaker 2: all the time, you don't spend time with your kid,
- 44:24Speaker 2: you ain't gonna make no memories.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Bro.
- 44:27Speaker 2: So you gotta figure out, Okay, well I can't tape
- 44:29Speaker 2: every day. Maybe I'll tape extra on Wednesday. Take Tuesday

- 44:57Speaker 2: because I'm really gonna knock out another special. So this

- 45:03Speaker 1: Are you doing the special where a partner You're doing
- 45:05Speaker 1: the YouTube route or because I feel like, I mean
- 45:09Speaker 1: it might be you know, just did like a million
- 45:12Speaker 1: views in the first day.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's free, right and YouTube is accessful to everybody.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Everybody be like, oh my god, I heard this thing
- 45:19Speaker 2: on YouTube. I love that part about it, you know
- 45:21Speaker 2: what I mean. They don't have to weigh you know,
- 45:23Speaker 2: if you some people don't have cable, you know, but
