- 0:00Speaker 1: I'll get a welcome to another installing the You Project,
- 0:03Speaker 1: Craig Anthony. But you know that's happy, bloody terrific. So
- 0:08Speaker 1: a couple of things before we get under way, Before
- 0:11Speaker 1: you and I have a little one on one, I
- 0:15Speaker 1: wanted to say.
- 0:18Speaker 2: We've been pushing pushing.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I've been talking about the U Project podcast Facebook page,
- 0:26Speaker 1: which is just a little handy kind of resource for
- 0:28Speaker 1: people to tap into. I'm not selling anything on there.
- 0:32Speaker 1: There's no hooks, catches, agendas.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It's not a gateway or a path way to something.
- 0:36Speaker 1: There's no upsell on sell, there's no bullshit, there's no
- 0:40Speaker 1: smoke and mirrors, as I think you know is not
- 0:44Speaker 1: my way, the smoke and mirrors, the bullshit. I hate
- 0:47Speaker 1: selling stuff. I need to sell some stuff sometimes, but
- 0:52Speaker 1: this platform, or this particular page is not It's not
- 0:57Speaker 1: a gateway to that. It's just a virtual for people
- 1:00Speaker 1: to get together and support and talk and share, and
- 1:03Speaker 1: as I've said before here, but also on the page,
- 1:07Speaker 1: for people to start a conversation, to ask a question,
- 1:11Speaker 1: to help somebody out, to offer some advice, some love,
- 1:17Speaker 1: some kindness, to talk about some of the topics and
- 1:22Speaker 1: ideas and themes that run through these shows. I like
- 1:28Speaker 1: the idea of I like the idea of having a
- 1:33Speaker 1: virtual space where people can kind of get together in
- 1:39Speaker 1: inverted commas without any agenda and without any meanness, without
- 1:45Speaker 1: any bad kind of juju or energy or vibe. And
- 1:51Speaker 1: if there's any of that, which there almost never is,
- 1:55Speaker 1: if there is any of that, I'll take it down.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It's not say we can't be honest and we can't
- 2:01Speaker 1: be real, of course, but we just don't let anyone
- 2:04Speaker 1: running anyone down.
- 2:05Speaker 2: It's not the vibe. It's not the vibe of the tribe.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And with that in mind, I want to share with
- 2:13Speaker 1: you a couple of things that have come up lately.
- 2:17Speaker 1: One one came from a lady yesterday. I just want
- 2:20Speaker 1: to read it because it's nice and her name is Melody.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Hi Craig and the You Project. I started listening to
- 2:28Speaker 1: your podcast a few weeks ago and now I'm addicted,
- 2:31Speaker 1: absolutely love it.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And you were just great. Thank you.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I've been through some serious crap the last three years.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And finally in which she goes you were great, I
- 2:39Speaker 1: think she means all of us, So I think the
- 2:40Speaker 1: vibe of the trip, all of that. Like to show
- 2:42Speaker 1: the guests so I wasn't saying that as a personal
- 2:46Speaker 1: thank you. I've been through some serious crap the last
- 2:49Speaker 1: three years, and finally I've had the strength to face
- 2:52Speaker 1: up to the problem and stop harming myself by doing
- 2:54Speaker 1: stupid things to maintain a normal life. I work full
- 2:58Speaker 1: time as a nurse for thirty five is in the
- 3:00Speaker 1: NHS in Great Britain, and lost my sister and nearly
- 3:04Speaker 1: lost my job and became a nan for the first
- 3:07Speaker 1: time and still went through the menopause. Fuck hell, that's
- 3:12Speaker 1: a tough gig, I hear, but still managed to run
- 3:17Speaker 1: every day, bike at the weekends and walk my dog
- 3:20Speaker 1: every day. On the surface, I looked okay, but now
- 3:22Speaker 1: I've lost too much weight and I'm not taking care
- 3:25Speaker 1: of myself, and I've finally made the first step to
- 3:28Speaker 1: stop what I was doing and turn my life back around.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I know it's not down to you or your podcast,
- 3:34Speaker 1: but it helped me realize I couldn't go on the
- 3:36Speaker 1: way I was to.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So here's to you and the great work. Please don't
- 3:39Speaker 2: ever stop.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Thank you Melody, And we get lots of things like
- 3:44Speaker 1: that a lot, and for me, what that means is
- 3:48Speaker 1: not that I'm great. What it means is we're on
- 3:50Speaker 1: the right track, we're doing something right, and I really
- 3:53Speaker 1: appreciate that. And what I loved I loved Melody's message,
- 3:58Speaker 1: but what I loved was that well, as I'm looking
- 4:00Speaker 1: at this, almost one hundred people have shared a love
- 4:05Speaker 1: heart or a care emoji or and a bunch of
- 4:08Speaker 1: people have actually written Melody a message, including myself of course.
- 4:13Speaker 2: And I don't know.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I just think in this day and age where there
- 4:18Speaker 1: is so much bullshit, there is so much anger, there
- 4:20Speaker 1: is so much fucking division. There are so many echo
- 4:23Speaker 1: chambers where there is so much pretend kindness and pretend care,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and you know, there's real care, there's real kindness, there's
- 4:32Speaker 1: real love, but there's a lot of bullshit. Then there's
- 4:35Speaker 1: a lot of people who are, you know, doing something
- 4:40Speaker 1: which looks like kindness, but it's not really because there's
- 4:44Speaker 1: an agenda, because they're giving with one hand but holding
- 4:47Speaker 1: out with the other, and so it's not love or kindness.
- 4:50Speaker 1: It's actually a strategy. There's actually an agenda. And I
- 4:54Speaker 1: hate all of that shit, which is not to say
- 4:56Speaker 1: that I'm perfect or flawless, because I'm flawed and very imperfect,
- 5:00Speaker 1: But I like the idea that we're creating something that
- 5:06Speaker 1: that you know, people can plug into. Where there are
- 5:10Speaker 1: other flawed, broken, sometimes brilliant, sometimes you know, crazy, all
- 5:18Speaker 1: the time trying hard, humans like me, just trying to
- 5:22Speaker 1: make a tiny difference. And if that is making a
- 5:26Speaker 1: tiny difference in our own lives and also the lives
- 5:28Speaker 1: of one or two people around us, then you know,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think we're doing okay. So Melody, thank you so
- 5:33Speaker 1: much for that. I also got another one that I
- 5:37Speaker 1: want to share, and I can't. I can't say too
- 5:41Speaker 1: much because I can't say who this person is for
- 5:47Speaker 1: reasons that I can't explain. But nothing sinister greetings, mister Harper.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Don't you love that this is from a dude? And
- 5:55Speaker 1: by the way, I love it that it's from a dude.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I love it that it's you know, what's funny is
- 6:01Speaker 1: so much of my stuff and I don't know if
- 6:04Speaker 1: you've got a thought, go into the group and tell me.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Why do you think you know?
- 6:08Speaker 1: It's like if I write a post and I get feedback,
- 6:10Speaker 1: or even if I get you know, two hundred likes
- 6:12Speaker 1: or something on that of the two hundred, one hundred
- 6:16Speaker 1: and eighty will be from women, and I'm not talking
- 6:20Speaker 1: about towards me.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I'm talking about to what I write.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I don't know why I'm interested in to hear your
- 6:26Speaker 1: or as to hear your thoughts on why perhaps there
- 6:29Speaker 1: is such a disproportionate number of females who are who
- 6:35Speaker 1: resonate with you know this podcast who resonate Most of
- 6:39Speaker 1: my listeners are women who resonate with my posts. I'm
- 6:44Speaker 1: not fishing here, I'm not looking for a compliment. I'm
- 6:47Speaker 1: genuinely curious. I have a few thoughts and ideas, and
- 6:50Speaker 1: I think it's probably around the fact that generally speaking,
- 6:55Speaker 1: maybe women are more vulnerable and more open to be
- 7:03Speaker 1: emotional and a bit raw, and to think more about
- 7:06Speaker 1: behavior and to be open and honest about what's going
- 7:10Speaker 1: on on a deeper level.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Maybe that's part of it. Maybe it's you know not
- 7:16Speaker 1: but love to hear your thoughts. And what I was
- 7:18Speaker 1: going to say was last week I was in Bendigo
- 7:20Speaker 1: and I did I did a gig up there for
- 7:23Speaker 1: the public, which was fun. Shout out to everyone in Bendigos.
- 7:27Speaker 1: In fact, this time last week, as I record, is it, Yeah,
- 7:31Speaker 1: this time like exactly exactly seven days ago to the hour.
- 7:36Speaker 1: It's three twenty two now, and this time last week
- 7:39Speaker 1: I was in front of a bunch of people.
- 7:40Speaker 2: In in Bendigo.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And one of the things that happens is whenever there,
- 7:47Speaker 1: whenever I do a public event, there's always blokes, reluctant, reticent,
- 7:52Speaker 1: sometimes resentful blokes that have been dragged along by women.
- 7:58Speaker 1: That's funny because I said, just before we get underway,
- 8:03Speaker 1: who are the blokes here that don't want to be here?
- 8:05Speaker 1: But you've been dragged here under sufferance by by a
- 8:10Speaker 1: female in your life who thinks you need to listen
- 8:13Speaker 1: to me. And a bunch of hands went up, and
- 8:16Speaker 1: also a bit of laughter happened, and I apologize to
- 8:19Speaker 1: them as that I'm sorry you've been dragged along. Let's
- 8:21Speaker 1: hope it's not too shit. But it is funny. It
- 8:24Speaker 1: is funny that that is a regular current occurrence, and
- 8:28Speaker 1: that never is not the case, Like it's never the
- 8:31Speaker 1: case that there's no men in the room who haven't
- 8:35Speaker 1: been dragged along. There's always somewhere between one and twenty
- 8:38Speaker 1: men who have been dragged along because somebody thinks that
- 8:42Speaker 1: they need to open the door on this. You know,
- 8:45Speaker 1: this world of personal development or self improvement or you
- 8:48Speaker 1: know whatever it is. You know human behavior and they
- 8:51Speaker 1: need to tune in and fucking listen up and do something.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So if you got any thoughts, jump in the Facebook
- 8:58Speaker 1: page and let me know. All Right back to the
- 9:00Speaker 1: so from the due greetings, Miss tap Of. Firstly, thank
- 9:04Speaker 1: you for bringing such well being, such an inspiration, super nice.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I followed you for about two years and I'm one
- 9:10Speaker 1: of those sad listeners who have heard every episode very nice.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Your insights and the topics covered by you and your
- 9:16Speaker 1: guests had a major impact in my life, both personally
- 9:19Speaker 1: and professionally. I can't thank you enough for that. I
- 9:22Speaker 1: was recently lucky enough to meet you in person at
- 9:25Speaker 1: I won't say where, and to meet I don't even
- 9:30Speaker 1: want to say this bit because it sounds I sound
- 9:33Speaker 1: like saying it anyway, but I read it. To meet
- 9:34Speaker 1: the legend in person was generally genuinely a highlight. Thank
- 9:38Speaker 1: you for the compliment, not a legend, but thank you
- 9:40Speaker 1: that night. Well, I can't read that bit anyway. You
- 9:48Speaker 1: gave me an incentive to commit to a course of
- 9:51Speaker 1: action and to reach out to you and let you
- 9:54Speaker 1: know how it's gone.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Well. The time is up. I'm checking in. I actually
- 9:58Speaker 2: don't need a response pass a mic.
- 10:01Speaker 1: At but as part of my personal accountability, I wanted
- 10:04Speaker 1: to send you this message. And he talks about all
- 10:08Speaker 1: the stuff that he does, and he talks about the
- 10:11Speaker 1: stuff the decisions that he's made. I'm just realizing as
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm reading it. If I read out the specifics, people
- 10:16Speaker 1: might figure who this is. Anyway down towards the end,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I feel amazing and to have a new verb and
- 10:22Speaker 1: focus to continue to build on my growing strength. Even
- 10:27Speaker 1: got a personal best time doing something, achieving a time
- 10:32Speaker 1: I thought was impossible at the start of the year.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Hopefully I'll get to another event in the future, but
- 10:36Speaker 1: in the meantime, I want to thank you for doing
- 10:38Speaker 1: what you do. You generally have added knowledge and quality
- 10:41Speaker 1: to my life, and I appreciate everything you do kind regards.
- 10:44Speaker 1: You know, and we get a bunch of those, and
- 10:48Speaker 1: you know on behalf of Melissa and Tiff and myself
- 10:53Speaker 1: and you know, all of you who contribute to the
- 10:57Speaker 1: totality of the typ experience. If we didn't have you listeners,
- 11:01Speaker 1: we wouldn't be doing shows. Still, if we didn't have
- 11:03Speaker 1: the audience, we wouldn't have the we wouldn't have the
- 11:07Speaker 1: relationship with Nova that we do, we wouldn't have the
- 11:10Speaker 1: sponsors that we do, we wouldn't be able to keep
- 11:13Speaker 1: this thing running. And so you know, it's just just
- 11:18Speaker 1: a shout of gratitude for me to you, and also
- 11:20Speaker 1: just an acknowledgment that you know, we're still growing, we're
- 11:24Speaker 1: still going, we still have better and worst episodes. I'm
- 11:28Speaker 1: still figuring it out, you know. And in the middle
- 11:32Speaker 1: of all of the nones and the unknowns, you know,
- 11:37Speaker 1: we are. We're doing some good. And I don't often
- 11:41Speaker 1: say things like that about myself, but we're doing some good.
- 11:44Speaker 1: We're getting things wrong, of course, but we're doing some
- 11:47Speaker 1: good and we're making a little bit of a difference,
- 11:49Speaker 1: and for me, that's really important. All right, And again,
- 11:53Speaker 1: thank you for your support. So I want to chat
- 11:56Speaker 1: quickly with you today about about this. I wrote this
- 12:01Speaker 1: post a while ago and it said something like, you've
- 12:04Speaker 1: had lots of Mondays, but you've never had this one.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And for those of you who listen to this when
- 12:11Speaker 1: it comes out, it will be a Monday. For those
- 12:13Speaker 1: of you who listen down the track. Same applies to
- 12:16Speaker 1: whatever day it is that you're listening. And it's one
- 12:21Speaker 1: of the interesting things about the psychology of time and
- 12:25Speaker 1: the psychology of our experience over time. And this is
- 12:31Speaker 1: a weird thing I'm about say, but the relationship that
- 12:34Speaker 1: we have with the days that we have. It's like,
- 12:39Speaker 1: when you're sixty years old. Let's see, there's let's round
- 12:43Speaker 1: it out, fifty Mondays a year. We know it's fifty two,
- 12:45Speaker 1: but sixty times sixty years old me times fifty Mondays
- 12:49Speaker 1: a year is three thousand. Well, we know there's an
- 12:52Speaker 1: extra sixty times too, So was that three one hundred
- 12:55Speaker 1: and twenty or something like that, but three, you know,
- 12:57Speaker 1: so I've had three thousand Mondays, give or take. So
- 13:00Speaker 1: when Tomorrow rolls around, it's just another Monday. And it's
- 13:04Speaker 1: really easy to have that mindset that it's just another Monday,
- 13:07Speaker 1: or it's just another Tuesday, or it's just another day.
- 13:10Speaker 1: But for some people, tomorrow will be their last Monday.
- 13:14Speaker 1: That's not what we want to hear, but that's true
- 13:17Speaker 1: for some people. Tomorrow, or for you, if today is
- 13:21Speaker 1: Monday for you, or whatever day it is for as
- 13:24Speaker 1: I'm sitting here now on a Sunday, for some people,
- 13:28Speaker 1: tomorrow will be the last one they have, or maybe
- 13:30Speaker 1: they've got ten more, or maybe they've got three thousand more.
- 13:33Speaker 2: We don't know.
- 13:35Speaker 1: But I think that sometimes in the middle of the
- 13:39Speaker 1: thousands of days and tens of thousands of days and
- 13:44Speaker 1: hundreds of thousands of hours that we have, we lose
- 13:48Speaker 1: perspective and we forget how precious a day is, and
- 13:55Speaker 1: we fail to understand the potential and the possibilities of
- 14:02Speaker 1: a single day. You know, I think about even on
- 14:08Speaker 1: this podcast, if I forget anyone, I apologize, But I'm
- 14:15Speaker 1: thinking about so a friend of mine that used to
- 14:18Speaker 1: be on regularly, Nima Nima Larvi, the pharmacist, you know
- 14:23Speaker 1: he has in the last year, has passed away and
- 14:26Speaker 1: he's he did lots of episodes with me. Danny Frawley,
- 14:30Speaker 1: who has been on this show, former AFL star and
- 14:34Speaker 1: coach of Richmond, and you know, he's passed away. Simon
- 14:39Speaker 1: Hammond marketing Guru, branding guru, was on this show at
- 14:45Speaker 1: least once, maybe twice. I'm not sure. Simon's not having
- 14:49Speaker 1: any more mondays or any more any days. Neither is
- 14:52Speaker 1: Nima or Spud Spud rigas Danny, and neither is the
- 14:56Speaker 1: beautiful Johnny Ruffo how gorgeous was john and how much
- 15:01Speaker 1: do I still feel Johnny Ruffo's energy. It's like, I
- 15:07Speaker 1: know this is sad. I know this is maybe I
- 15:11Speaker 1: don't know, weird for some of you, but for me,
- 15:13Speaker 1: it's like there was just an energy about him, and
- 15:16Speaker 1: an energy about all of those people. You know, I've had,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know, one of my best friends when I was
- 15:24Speaker 1: in my early twenties, he worked with me, worked with
- 15:27Speaker 1: me all day every day. His name was Maddie. He
- 15:30Speaker 1: was my first personal trainer. He was the first employee
- 15:33Speaker 1: in Harper's. He worked with me and he started working
- 15:36Speaker 1: with me when he was nineteen, and we spent the
- 15:38Speaker 1: next five years together. And he died when he was
- 15:42Speaker 1: twenty four. I think it was twenty four, and I
- 15:46Speaker 1: miss him every single day. I've got a bracelets that
- 15:49Speaker 1: stays locked on my wrist, which there's just two screws,
- 15:53Speaker 1: there's no clasp, doesn't come off, and that the bracelet
- 15:57Speaker 1: has not come off my wrist since he passed away.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It's got his initials and my initials. It was made
- 16:02Speaker 1: the following week, and so you know, I think about him.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I think about Dicko Robert Dixon, whose brother Pete has
- 16:10Speaker 1: been on this show, and Dicko was one of my
- 16:13Speaker 1: best few friends at school and he passed away years ago.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And it's there are so many people that come into
- 16:20Speaker 1: your life and that are there for a you know,
- 16:22Speaker 1: a reason and sometimes a season and and we don't know.
- 16:26Speaker 1: And I don't mean to be melodramatic, but in the
- 16:30Speaker 1: shadow of life and death, you know, in the context
- 16:35Speaker 1: of a person's life, in the context of somebody being
- 16:40Speaker 1: here and then not being here, we realize how precious
- 16:44Speaker 1: a day can be. Even though this is just you know,
- 16:47Speaker 1: whatever day you're listening to this, you're never going to
- 16:49Speaker 1: have this day again. You'll have another. If you're listening
- 16:51Speaker 1: to it tomorrow for me, which is Monday. Yeah, you'll
- 16:55Speaker 1: have hopefully you'll have a lot more Mondays. But you're
- 16:58Speaker 1: never going to have this Monday. And you've never had
- 17:02Speaker 1: this Monday. You've never had this moment in time. You've
- 17:05Speaker 1: never heard these words right now as I am saying
- 17:10Speaker 1: them to you. You've heard similar words. You've heard a
- 17:12Speaker 1: lot of similar shit from me. But what I'm saying
- 17:15Speaker 1: right now, in this moment, on the twenty fifth of
- 17:18Speaker 1: August twenty twenty four, as I sit here you've never
- 17:21Speaker 1: heard these words delivered by me this way to you.
- 17:25Speaker 1: This is a first for you. It's a first for you.
- 17:29Speaker 1: But because you're very familiar with me and my ideas
- 17:32Speaker 1: and my words, it seems like something you've heard before,
- 17:36Speaker 1: but it isn't. And this day feels like many days
- 17:40Speaker 1: because you've had many days, but it isn't any other day.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It is just this day. And the potential of each
- 17:49Speaker 1: day is vast. The possibilities of a single day are vast.
- 17:56Speaker 1: But what gets in the way of our ability to
- 17:59Speaker 1: do so something powerful and amazing and transformational on a
- 18:03Speaker 1: day is not the capacity or the potential that that
- 18:07Speaker 1: day holds in store, but rather our thinking, Oh, it's
- 18:10Speaker 1: just another Monday. It's just another day. It's just another
- 18:15Speaker 1: moment in time, it's just another conversation. And when our
- 18:20Speaker 1: thinking is oh, it's just another we've already succumbed. You
- 18:26Speaker 1: think about all of the things that we chase in
- 18:28Speaker 1: our world. You think about how much we love and
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm talking about the collective we, the global we, the
- 18:36Speaker 1: group we.
- 18:37Speaker 2: You know.
- 18:37Speaker 1: You think about what is success. When people talk about
- 18:40Speaker 1: success in our culture, they are always talking about things.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Success in our culture is stuff. It's what you have
- 18:49Speaker 1: and what you earn, and what you own and what
- 18:52Speaker 1: you drive and where you live. You've heard me say
- 18:54Speaker 1: this before. Success is about things. Apparently, success is about
- 19:00Speaker 1: your brand and your bank balance and how well you're
- 19:04Speaker 1: regarded by others, and your titles and your degrees and
- 19:09Speaker 1: your position in the organization. And there's nothing wrong with
- 19:13Speaker 1: any of all of that. But are those things really
- 19:16Speaker 1: the gift? What a gift is time? What would you
- 19:23Speaker 1: if you knew? Now know this is melodramatic, and yes
- 19:27Speaker 1: this is hypothetical, but if you knew that you had
- 19:31Speaker 1: one week to live one week, but there was a
- 19:35Speaker 1: way of getting another ten years, what would you give
- 19:38Speaker 1: for that ten years? I would imagine if there was
- 19:44Speaker 1: something that you owned, anything that you owned, any money,
- 19:49Speaker 1: any possession, anything that you could swap for that decade
- 19:54Speaker 1: of life, you wouldn't even have to think about it.
- 20:00Speaker 1: But because none of us are looking through that lens,
- 20:04Speaker 1: or few of us are looking through the lens that
- 20:07Speaker 1: time is precious, that today is precious, that one day,
- 20:14Speaker 1: twenty four hours, fourteen hundred and forty minutes are precious.
- 20:19Speaker 1: And we don't think that way. And I don't a
- 20:22Speaker 1: lot as well, so I'm putting me in here, but
- 20:25Speaker 1: this awareness of the value, of the preciousness of the
- 20:31Speaker 1: gift that is a single day. If you knew you
- 20:36Speaker 1: had seven days left, what would you do? Would you
- 20:40Speaker 1: be online bullshitting? Would you be hanging shit on people?
- 20:46Speaker 1: Would you be I'm not suggesting you do that on
- 20:48Speaker 1: the best or worst of days, but I'm pretty sure
- 20:52Speaker 1: you wouldn't be wasting energy and time on meaningless things.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure most of us, if we had one
- 21:00Speaker 1: week to live, we would love to be with people
- 21:04Speaker 1: that we love. We would love to be hugged and
- 21:07Speaker 1: held and to connect. We would love to have precious
- 21:12Speaker 1: moments and precious conversations. We would love that. We would
- 21:17Speaker 1: love that. But guess what, we don't do that. We
- 21:22Speaker 1: don't have that urgency because we got we don't We're like, ah,
- 21:28Speaker 1: I don't need to do that because I've got all
- 21:30Speaker 1: the time. We don't know, we don't know how much
- 21:32Speaker 1: time we have. I'm not being melodramatic, but we don't.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But even if we do have all the time, why
- 21:39Speaker 1: do we have to wait?
- 21:41Speaker 2: Like?
- 21:41Speaker 1: What are we waiting for? I'm not, as you know,
- 21:46Speaker 1: of course, I'm not against money. I'm not against building wealth.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I'm not against building an organization a business. I've done it.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I think building a brand and all of those things
- 21:54Speaker 1: can be an important part of our journey. I'm nothing
- 21:57Speaker 1: against any of that. But I have intoected with so
- 22:01Speaker 1: many people, and I have been one of these people.
- 22:04Speaker 1: So many people who from the outside looking in are
- 22:08Speaker 1: winning at life. But when you dig, when you get
- 22:11Speaker 1: below the picture, when you get behind the curtain, when
- 22:15Speaker 1: you scrape away the persona, when you get down to
- 22:21Speaker 1: the emotion and the psychology and the experience. In the
- 22:24Speaker 1: middle of all of that, so many people they're not happy.
- 22:27Speaker 1: They're not connected, they're not joyful, they're anxious, they're depressed,
- 22:32Speaker 1: they're lonely, they're disconnected. It's just an opportunity for us
- 22:41Speaker 1: every day to pull back that curtain to think about
- 22:49Speaker 1: what can I do today to make my life better?
- 22:55Speaker 1: As you listen to me, now, think about what is
- 22:59Speaker 1: one thing you can do today. It might just be
- 23:03Speaker 1: to say something kind to somebody. It might be to
- 23:08Speaker 1: ring a person and tell them you love them. It
- 23:11Speaker 1: might be to enroll in a course. It might it
- 23:14Speaker 1: doesn't have to be something spiritual and deep. It might
- 23:18Speaker 1: be something practical. But the reason that we don't feel
- 23:24Speaker 1: like every day is a gift is because we have
- 23:27Speaker 1: so many of them, and we close our eyes, then
- 23:29Speaker 1: we open them, and then we're fifty and some of
- 23:34Speaker 1: us say things, or we're forty, or we're sixty, and
- 23:37Speaker 1: some of us say things like, this wasn't my plan.
- 23:43Speaker 1: And when someone annoying like me says, please show me
- 23:46Speaker 1: your plan, nearly everyone says, I don't have a plan.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I don't I want to see the plan that you
- 23:53Speaker 2: speaking of. And there is no plan.
- 23:55Speaker 1: There was just an idea of how things would end
- 23:59Speaker 1: or be or eventuate or unfold.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I don't know why, but I have this.
- 24:08Speaker 1: You know, maybe part of it is because my parents
- 24:10Speaker 1: are old as fuck, God bless them. And I look
- 24:14Speaker 1: at the I look at their lives now and I
- 24:17Speaker 1: look at their reality, and you know, they're doing pretty good.
- 24:20Speaker 1: But there's also days that are not pretty good. There's
- 24:24Speaker 1: you know, there's peaks and troughs and and honestly, you know,
- 24:29Speaker 1: I go see my mum and dad. As I've said
- 24:31Speaker 1: to you before, it's it's a fair hike. It's four
- 24:34Speaker 1: hours of driving each time, and they're definitely worth it,
- 24:36Speaker 1: and but I see them as much as I can.
- 24:43Speaker 1: But I just I just have a different value and
- 24:47Speaker 1: a different feeling and a different level of gratitude for
- 24:53Speaker 1: every hour that I see them and I be with them.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And it's not that when there's necesarily doing anything spectacular.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Sometimes it's just being there, just saying I'm here on
- 25:08Speaker 1: a Saturday with my dad. I'm here on a Saturday,
- 25:12Speaker 1: which is when I genuinely go by the way. I'm
- 25:14Speaker 1: with my mum on a Saturday, and I'm hanging out
- 25:17Speaker 1: with them, and I'm doing and not much, but I'm
- 25:20Speaker 1: really glad because I don't know how many Saturdays I
- 25:23Speaker 1: have with them, and I don't want to wake up
- 25:27Speaker 1: one Saturday without them and think I wish I had
- 25:32Speaker 1: have done this.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I wish I had have done that. You know.
- 25:37Speaker 1: It's I feel like sometimes and this is just my
- 25:40Speaker 1: feeling and I'm rambling now or I'm freestyling, so feel
- 25:43Speaker 1: free to tune out or feel free to lean in.
- 25:47Speaker 2: But I feel like we think that.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Kind of life or the universe or God kind of
- 25:57Speaker 1: owes us something that things will work out, or that
- 26:02Speaker 1: you know, we need to wake you know, like, yeah,
- 26:05Speaker 1: we need to wait for the right time of the moment,
- 26:09Speaker 1: or a sign. We're waiting for a sign, you know.
- 26:13Speaker 1: But honestly, if you need a sign, here's a sign.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I don't think by the way the universe or God
- 26:22Speaker 1: has sent me. I just think maybe it is a sign,
- 26:27Speaker 1: or maybe you can make it a sign, like building
- 26:33Speaker 1: our best life, creating our best relationships, building our best
- 26:37Speaker 1: mental and emotional and physical health states. It's not We
- 26:42Speaker 1: don't need a knock at the door. We don't need
- 26:44Speaker 1: an invitation. We don't need some cosmic sign. We don't
- 26:48Speaker 1: need some ethereal, spiritual, mystical, bloody revelation.
- 26:57Speaker 2: We don't need it. We just need to act.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Knowledge that we are wasting time, that we are wasting days,
- 27:06Speaker 1: we are wasting opportunities, We are waiting for opportunities to
- 27:11Speaker 1: present themselves rather than creating opportunities ourselves. Every day is
- 27:20Speaker 1: truly a gift, but sadly most of us don't think
- 27:23Speaker 1: like that. Can you walk, then that's a gift. Can
- 27:29Speaker 1: you walk to a tap and have hot and cold water,
- 27:32Speaker 1: that's a gift. Do you have money to go and
- 27:34Speaker 1: buy a coffee? Well, that makes you rich. In some
- 27:39Speaker 1: countries and some environments, can you open a fridge and
- 27:44Speaker 1: there's food, or a pantry and there's food. We live
- 27:49Speaker 1: most of you and I, most of us listening to
- 27:52Speaker 1: this anyway, Maybe not everyone, but most of us Compared
- 27:57Speaker 1: to many people in the world. Most of us live
- 28:02Speaker 1: in relative luxury and privilege. And every day you and
- 28:12Speaker 1: I get the opportunity. You and I have the gift
- 28:18Speaker 1: of doing better, making decisions, changing the direction of our life,
- 28:25Speaker 1: being grateful, choosing our attitude, choosing our words, opening the
- 28:31Speaker 1: self awareness doore, opening the other people awareness door, choosing
- 28:37Speaker 1: to operate in love, choosing to live a life aligned
- 28:45Speaker 1: with our values. And every day we get the opportunity
- 28:50Speaker 1: to be grateful for the day that we have
