Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hey guys, this is Al Petrelli from the Transient Orchestra.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Normally I'm not a nerd, but I am a tech
- 0:09Speaker 2: talk radio god bless they.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Say, welcome to another episode of tech talk Radio. I'm
- 0:14Speaker 1: Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm justin.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Let me welcome.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Holidays are in full effect. The Black Friday, Cyber Monday
- 0:22Speaker 1: is over. Did all right? So the big question is
- 0:27Speaker 1: we know that Sean got something he picked up. You
- 0:29Speaker 1: were out justin did you buy anything? Were you were
- 0:33Speaker 1: you looking at anything for you know, buying for that time.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I bought some bitcoin, some Shiva in news, some cardonos,
- 0:42Speaker 3: some Solona. Yeah, I bought some stuff.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Did you get in in the right time? That's the
- 0:47Speaker 1: big question.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I I you know, we talked
- 0:52Speaker 3: about the a few shows ago, about the new camera
- 0:54Speaker 3: that I got, which is the one I'm using for
- 0:56Speaker 3: broadcasting right now. If you want to, you know, watch
- 0:59Speaker 3: the podcast, you can always go to tech talk radio
- 1:02Speaker 3: dot com and you can see it. But the new camera, yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 3: so I bought that with crypto. But yeah, I mean
- 1:06Speaker 3: I've just been buying some crypto.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But uh, yeah, you made a statement at the other
- 1:11Speaker 1: the day. Now we go, we had to bind listeners.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Whenever we talk about the crypto, we have to say
- 1:16Speaker 1: we're not experts, We're not an investment company. This is
- 1:20Speaker 1: just our own experiences that have been involved with it.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You know, there's always risk involved with anything you do.
- 1:26Speaker 1: But for those of us that purchased crypto a long
- 1:30Speaker 1: time ago and have held on to it, those huddlers,
- 1:34Speaker 1: they've been pretty happy with it. Now it hit one
- 1:36Speaker 1: hundred thousand, which was, you know, pretty good because I
- 1:40Speaker 1: think you know, we remember the days we were waiting
- 1:42Speaker 1: for it to hit twenty the twenty five.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yeah right, I was waiting for it to hit like
- 1:46Speaker 3: I was waiting for it to hit sixteen.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and it did. Now there's some people are saying
- 1:51Speaker 1: that's not it, that it could even go further. Oh
- 1:55Speaker 1: it will.
- 1:55Speaker 3: And now that you've gotten the attention of major corporations
- 1:59Speaker 3: made countries, you know, I mean, you got United States
- 2:03Speaker 3: of America with the incoming Trump administration talking about how
- 2:07Speaker 3: they're going to want to make a huge bitcoin reserve,
- 2:10Speaker 3: and then you've got Russia talking about wanting to make
- 2:12Speaker 3: a huge Bitcoin reserve and the UK Bitcoin Reserve, and
- 2:16Speaker 3: then not only that, but then you've got major companies.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And then, just as the time of this recording, the
- 2:22Speaker 3: Microsoft shareholders voted not to make a bitcoin reserve, which
- 2:28Speaker 3: I think is a ridiculous decision on their part. But yeah,
- 2:33Speaker 3: you've gotten now the attention of so many people. And
- 2:37Speaker 3: it's not just regular people like you and me. I mean,
- 2:39Speaker 3: these are organizations, these are countries. This is the entire
- 2:44Speaker 3: world right who is now interested in bitcoin? And this
- 2:48Speaker 3: is just the beginning.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Some people are saying that it's a little confusing, that
- 2:53Speaker 1: they may want to get into it, they don't know
- 2:54Speaker 1: where to get started. And you know, we've had Joe
- 2:58Speaker 1: Blackburn on the show before, We've had others from crypto
- 3:01Speaker 1: coin Trader, which is a Facebook group which provides a
- 3:05Speaker 1: lot of info. We've had O'Neill on that. O'Neill, Yeah, O'Neil,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I'm wondering. You know, if somebody was to come to you,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and you know, your cousin or your your nephew would say,
- 3:15Speaker 1: you know, hey.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I want to have.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I want to get into this. So what do I do?
- 3:21Speaker 1: What do you do? What do you what would you say.
- 3:22Speaker 3: What I do is I tell people the same thing
- 3:24Speaker 3: kind of what you just mentioned a little bit ago.
- 3:25Speaker 3: You know, it's like you got to do your own research.
- 3:27Speaker 3: You know, I'm not going to tell you what to buy.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you what I believe in in
- 3:32Speaker 3: terms of the coins, because I mean, obviously there's bitcoin,
- 3:35Speaker 3: but bitcoin is like gold, right, people don't just simply
- 3:38Speaker 3: I mean some people do, but people usually don't just
- 3:41Speaker 3: buy gold. They buy stocks. And so you could compare
- 3:45Speaker 3: bitcoin to gold, and then stocks you could compare to
- 3:49Speaker 3: like alt coins, like I said, shiba Inu or or
- 3:53Speaker 3: Cardono or Solana, you know those are those are like
- 3:56Speaker 3: the alt coins, and that's where you really make your
- 3:58Speaker 3: money or you could lose a lot of money because
- 4:00Speaker 3: as they're very volatile. But I would say you just
- 4:03Speaker 3: simply open up a coin base account and and and
- 4:06Speaker 3: people are like, well, I can't afford a bitcoin because
- 4:09Speaker 3: it's one hundred thousand. You don't need to twenty bucks,
- 4:11Speaker 3: ten bucks, five bucks, you know, it doesn't matter what
- 4:15Speaker 3: you can put. You can put like a minimum of
- 4:18Speaker 3: like five bucks in and just let it grow from there.
- 4:21Speaker 1: And see what happens with it.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Well, I think I think from when we talked about
- 4:25Speaker 2: crypto pretty specifically four years ago. Five years ago, even
- 4:30Speaker 2: I had started putting in ten bucks a week. Yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 2: oh I've been doing that ever since.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I've been putting in five hundred dollars every two weeks
- 4:37Speaker 3: for the last like six years.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Oh. Man. The all coins like etherrem and Etherorem also
- 4:43Speaker 1: has room to grow as well, doesn't it.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I mean, if you were to if it going going
- 4:46Speaker 3: back on my analogy, right there, ethereum would be like
- 4:49Speaker 3: compared to like the silver of gold, right, Bitcoin is
- 4:53Speaker 3: the gold, Ethereum would be the silver, right and and
- 4:56Speaker 3: ethereum is right there with it. But ethereum really doesn't.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Not a lot people are talking about Etheroeum right now.
- 5:01Speaker 3: It's a separate chain. It's a separate blockchain. It does
- 5:04Speaker 3: its own thing. I mean a lot of stuff happens
- 5:05Speaker 3: on ethereum, but right now it is Bitcoin's moment. You know,
- 5:09Speaker 3: this is a bull market. You know, we can I
- 5:12Speaker 3: guarantee you if we were to get O'Neill back on
- 5:15Speaker 3: the show, because remember O'Neil was called the Bear Moon.
- 5:18Speaker 3: He was the guy that was always against bitcoin, and
- 5:21Speaker 3: he still is even at bitcoin one hundred thousand. He's
- 5:23Speaker 3: still He's like, I don't like bitcoin. I don't like it,
- 5:26Speaker 3: but he loves crypto. He loves what it can do
- 5:28Speaker 3: for people, and so he talks all about the alt coins.
- 5:31Speaker 3: So yeah, ethereum is out there, you know, Like I said, Cardono,
- 5:35Speaker 3: you got shiba Enu, you got doge. I mean, I
- 5:38Speaker 3: made a killing on doge just because I happened to
- 5:40Speaker 3: make a bet. It was literally just like a gamble
- 5:43Speaker 3: on doge. I bought a bunch of doge coin right
- 5:47Speaker 3: when Trump announced the whole or elon Musk and the
- 5:52Speaker 3: whole VIVA recently, yeah about the whole like they're they're
- 5:55Speaker 3: forming this new Department of Government Efficiency also aka DOES,
- 6:00Speaker 3: which has nothing to do with the crypto coin Doge.
- 6:04Speaker 3: But I made a bet, I said, you know what,
- 6:06Speaker 3: I think people are gonna think this has something to
- 6:09Speaker 3: do with this, and so they're gonna buy it. And
- 6:11Speaker 3: sure enough, the price skyrocketed, and I made a killing.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Right, people can follow it, and they can even believe
- 6:17Speaker 1: they can even follow it and not make an account,
- 6:20Speaker 1: but yet still find out like oh how much would
- 6:23Speaker 1: I have made or where would it be now, just
- 6:26Speaker 1: to see if it I mean it eventually might be
- 6:28Speaker 1: something you may want to do it again. It's all
- 6:30Speaker 1: this is all personal choice, but you got to do
- 6:33Speaker 1: your research.
- 6:34Speaker 3: I would say the best website for you if you
- 6:35Speaker 3: just want to like look at it and not necessarily
- 6:39Speaker 3: invest coin marketcap dot com. Very simple website. It just
- 6:45Speaker 3: simply lists all of the cryptocurrencies and it tells it,
- 6:49Speaker 3: you know, what their price is, what the one hour,
- 6:51Speaker 3: twenty four hour, seven day, what the market cap is,
- 6:54Speaker 3: what the volume is, and you can just simply just
- 6:56Speaker 3: kind of watch it and see for yourself.
- 6:57Speaker 1: We wanted to talk about shopping. You actually started buying
- 7:02Speaker 1: or selling. I'm not sure which one it was on
- 7:05Speaker 1: one of the sites that I really haven't thought about
- 7:07Speaker 1: in a long time that is still out there and
- 7:09Speaker 1: people are still going there. They're still selling and they're
- 7:12Speaker 1: still buying. eBay. Yeah, was it? How was this experience
- 7:16Speaker 1: for you? Because you know, people kind of moved from
- 7:19Speaker 1: eBay to Facebook Marketplace, you know, for selling locally, and
- 7:23Speaker 1: there have been horror stories about selling and buying on
- 7:26Speaker 1: Facebook marketplace, so you know, are the same conditions available
- 7:31Speaker 1: on eBay? Is it a better experience? How was it? Well?
- 7:34Speaker 3: I think eBay is a little bit more protect. You
- 7:37Speaker 3: got a lot more protection when it comes to eBay.
- 7:40Speaker 3: You know, Facebook marketplaces. A lot of times it's a
- 7:43Speaker 3: place for people to be able to meet up and
- 7:45Speaker 3: trade what they need to get traded or sell in person.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And that's where the security aspect comes into play because
- 7:52Speaker 3: a lot of people, not a lot of people. Some
- 7:54Speaker 3: people have had stories where they're trying to sell let's
- 7:57Speaker 3: say a PlayStation or whatever, and they go to meet
- 7:59Speaker 3: up with the person and they get robbed at gunpoint. Okay,
- 8:03Speaker 3: with eBay, not so much, because a lot of times
- 8:06Speaker 3: you're usually shipping the item. In my case, I sold
- 8:10Speaker 3: my one wheel.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And did you that you bought it? What about a
- 8:12Speaker 1: year and a half ago? I remember we talked about that.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I just I haven't wrote it, And honestly,
- 8:19Speaker 3: I was like, you know the price, I mean, I
- 8:21Speaker 3: paid fifteen hundred dollars for that, and it's arge it
- 8:25Speaker 3: and it only had about twenty five miles on it,
- 8:28Speaker 3: Like I mean, it was virtually brand new and upgraded.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I mean I upgraded. I upgraded the pads, the sticky
- 8:35Speaker 3: uh sandpaper pads on it. I mean I did a
- 8:37Speaker 3: couple of things to it. So yeah. I mean I
- 8:39Speaker 3: really took a hit. But what I did was I
- 8:42Speaker 3: posted on eBay for a starting bit of eight hundred
- 8:45Speaker 3: dollars and I wanted to try to see a buy
- 8:47Speaker 3: it now price of like, I don't know, twelve hundred.
- 8:51Speaker 3: And it didn't sell the first time. But then it
- 8:53Speaker 3: relisted and somebody bid eight hundred and I'm like, okay,
- 8:57Speaker 3: here we go and nothing, and sure enough the guy
- 9:01Speaker 3: got it for eight hundred dollars and I'm like, dang it.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I was like, I really and then okay, then this
- 9:09Speaker 3: is where it went down south From here, the guy
- 9:11Speaker 3: buys it. Okay, the one wheel is heavy. I mean
- 9:14Speaker 3: it's like thirty five forty pounds.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Wait, y, don't tell me you didn't include shipping.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Well, no, what I told eBay on my listing was
- 9:23Speaker 3: that I will calculate shipping and the buyer will pay
- 9:26Speaker 3: a calculated shipping. No. No, eBay just decided to go
- 9:30Speaker 3: ahead and charge him sixty eight dollars for shipping. And
- 9:32Speaker 3: I'm like, uh, that's not even going to cover half
- 9:36Speaker 3: of it. So yeah, sure enough, I take it over
- 9:39Speaker 3: to the UPS store. They have to do a custom
- 9:42Speaker 3: box first off, so I have to pay for a
- 9:44Speaker 3: custom box and then I have to pay for shipping.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It was one hundred and twenty two dollars. I contact
- 9:48Speaker 3: the guy, I contact him via eBay and I'm like, look, man,
- 9:51Speaker 3: I'm sorry, but you know I'm I'm first off, I'm
- 9:53Speaker 3: losing a ton of money. You guys, you got a
- 9:55Speaker 3: killer deal because I wanted to sell this for twelve hundred,
- 9:58Speaker 3: thirteen hundred dollars because it's basically brand new. You got
- 10:01Speaker 3: it for half price. And on top of that, I'm
- 10:04Speaker 3: getting screwed on shipping, and not to mention, eBay took
- 10:06Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty dollars for their fee.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Oh.
- 10:09Speaker 3: I was literally I was literally going to walk out
- 10:11Speaker 3: of there with like four hundred and fifty dollars. Oh
- 10:13Speaker 3: that's out rated fifteen hundred dollars one wheel that is
- 10:16Speaker 3: going to get that Wow. So I contacted the guy
- 10:18Speaker 3: and I'm like, look, man, I'm sorry. You know, I'm
- 10:20Speaker 3: a little upset. I'm not going to ask you for
- 10:22Speaker 3: anything because obviously you know you got a hitge deal.
- 10:25Speaker 3: The guy was super cool. He was like no, no, no, no,
- 10:27Speaker 3: no no, I've got like two of these already, and
- 10:30Speaker 3: I know how much of that I know how expensive
- 10:32Speaker 3: they are. I know that I got a huge deal,
- 10:34Speaker 3: and I know the shipping's gonna is going to hurt you.
- 10:36Speaker 3: So just send me a send me a screenshot of
- 10:38Speaker 3: the of the shipping receipt. He paid me one hundred
- 10:41Speaker 3: and twenty dollars on top of the eight hundred and
- 10:44Speaker 3: sixty eight dollars that you know that he had to
- 10:46Speaker 3: pay for eBay, So he covered the entire charge of shipping.
- 10:49Speaker 3: So I ended up making about six fifty right off
- 10:54Speaker 3: off of a fifteen hundred dollars one wheel.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I forgot that eBay will take a portion of that.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Oh god.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:00Speaker 3: And they hide it. They don't tell you this, but
- 11:01Speaker 3: they hide it. They advertise your product for you, and
- 11:04Speaker 3: it's a tiny little check box that if you don't
- 11:09Speaker 3: uncheck it, they're gonna charge you a ten percent fee
- 11:11Speaker 3: for advertising.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So once you got a box top and shipped off,
- 11:16Speaker 1: did you feel okay it's done? Yeah?
- 11:19Speaker 3: No, because now it is somewhere in Montana, because this
- 11:23Speaker 3: guy lives somewhere in Montana, and eBay will not give
- 11:25Speaker 3: me my money until it actually gets to his house.
- 11:28Speaker 3: And he goes to eBay and says, yes, the product
- 11:31Speaker 3: has arrived and it is working as intended. Then I
- 11:34Speaker 3: finally get my money.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Oh that's outrageous. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 11:38Speaker 3: I hate it. So I just I don't think I'm
- 11:40Speaker 3: ever gonna use eBay.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I'm just gonna ask you for buying. Sure.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't sold anything at an eBay never maybe
- 11:47Speaker 2: something back in like the Eero two thousands.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Right, I mean I used to sell all the time,
- 11:51Speaker 3: but yeah, not anymore.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It's good for buying collectibles now.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well I bought I bought that lens. I told
- 11:55Speaker 3: you guys, I got a new lens for my Sony.
- 11:57Speaker 3: It's a thirty five millimeter F one point eight. I
- 12:00Speaker 3: bought that on eBay. So basically I just used the
- 12:02Speaker 3: money that I made from the one wheel to buy
- 12:04Speaker 3: the lens. Because the lens, I think was I was
- 12:06Speaker 3: in a bidding war and I ended up walking out
- 12:08Speaker 3: of there after taxes and shipping. I think it was
- 12:10Speaker 3: like four hundred and ten dollars.
- 12:12Speaker 1: How should somebody protect themselves though on eBay? I mean
- 12:16Speaker 1: we know about you know, the safety items, the safety
- 12:18Speaker 1: things you should think about with marketplace. Never have somebody
- 12:21Speaker 1: come into your house if you're selling something. I don't
- 12:24Speaker 1: care how convenient it is. Don't have somebody come to
- 12:27Speaker 1: your house, make it in a public place. But what
- 12:31Speaker 1: about you know, with eBay? What are some things people
- 12:34Speaker 1: should do to protect themselves because this brings up a
- 12:37Speaker 1: good question about buying and selling online.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Well, I would say one of the things, and I'm
- 12:41Speaker 3: sure Sean you can chime in here too, but I
- 12:44Speaker 3: think one of the things is you do all communication
- 12:46Speaker 3: through eBay. Do not do it, yea, do not do
- 12:49Speaker 3: any personal communication like, oh, let's just take this offline,
- 12:52Speaker 3: call me on my cell phone and we'll discuss the details. No, No,
- 12:56Speaker 3: you do all communication via eBay because if that person
- 13:00Speaker 3: decides to try to scam you, or they make some
- 13:03Speaker 3: sort of a deal with you that they end up
- 13:04Speaker 3: not wanting to hold up, if there is no chain
- 13:08Speaker 3: of evidence via eBay, then eBay is not going to
- 13:11Speaker 3: protect you with it. They're not going to give your
- 13:13Speaker 3: money back. As long as you can do everything through eBay,
- 13:16Speaker 3: eBay can review all chat logs and say okay, yep,
- 13:19Speaker 3: we see what's going on here. We'll protect you. But
- 13:22Speaker 3: if you take it offline, you're on your own. Buddy.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Oh wow, So I had something very very interesting this
- 13:28Speaker 1: past week, I had sent a piece of equipment from
- 13:30Speaker 1: our studio that needed to be repaired in for repair.
- 13:34Speaker 1: It was not under warranty, but a brand new one
- 13:37Speaker 1: would cost me two hundred dollars. The repair on this
- 13:40Speaker 1: item would be one hundred and twenty five bucks. So
- 13:43Speaker 1: I went ahead. I just said, you know what, I'll
- 13:45Speaker 1: send it in. So I sent it into the company.
- 13:47Speaker 1: They were nice. They sent me a label to send
- 13:49Speaker 1: it in, and then I got an email saying, the
- 13:52Speaker 1: product's been repaired. This is what was wrong with it.
- 13:55Speaker 1: They replaced the a motherboard that was a part of it,
- 13:59Speaker 1: and to call this number. So I call a number
- 14:02Speaker 1: and it was very obviously. I received an offshore agent
- 14:06Speaker 1: not here in the United States, and she said, okay, great,
- 14:09Speaker 1: do you do you have the number? And I gave
- 14:11Speaker 1: the number she said, and she said, okay, how would
- 14:15Speaker 1: you like to pay? And I said, well, can I
- 14:17Speaker 1: do this online? And she said no, we don't have
- 14:19Speaker 1: that option for you to do it online. You could
- 14:22Speaker 1: give me a credit card number over the phone.
- 14:26Speaker 3: No, thank you, And.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I'm thinking, wait a minute, wait, why would I Obviously
- 14:32Speaker 1: it's offshore. I'm going to give my credit card number
- 14:35Speaker 1: to a operator, and I'm going to hope that they're
- 14:41Speaker 1: not writing down somewhere else.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Absolutely not.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. So I was perplexed,
- 14:48Speaker 1: like what am I going to do to get this?
- 14:50Speaker 1: And I asked, can I send a check or money
- 14:52Speaker 1: order or cashier's check? And they said no, They sent
- 14:56Speaker 1: me to the email said no, they can't do that. So,
- 14:59Speaker 1: actually it was interesting because I was talking to my buddy,
- 15:03Speaker 1: a buddy of mine that used to be in law enforcement,
- 15:05Speaker 1: and he said, this is easy. Why didn't you think
- 15:08Speaker 1: about it? Go to the like Walgreens, or go to
- 15:12Speaker 1: a supermarket that sells the pre paid visa cards that
- 15:16Speaker 1: you can buy a pre you know, a pre amount
- 15:20Speaker 1: on a visa card and that works just like a
- 15:23Speaker 1: credit card. You could say this is what I want
- 15:26Speaker 1: on this card and you could use that and that way,
- 15:28Speaker 1: it's not tied to a credit account that you use
- 15:31Speaker 1: in the long run.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Yep. That's a good idea that that touches upon the
- 15:37Speaker 3: whole gift card scam. Though it sounds similar to one
- 15:41Speaker 3: of those gift card scams. Not it's not. I mean,
- 15:44Speaker 3: you know, I get I get what you're saying, but
- 15:46Speaker 3: it does it doesn't bring back memories of the gift
- 15:49Speaker 3: card scam. It's like, hey, you need to go pay
- 15:51Speaker 3: us where the I R s And you need to
- 15:52Speaker 3: go pay us in Apple gift cards. It's not quite
- 15:55Speaker 3: the same thing. What you're talking about is more like, Okay,
- 15:58Speaker 3: I have to repair an item, and it's where the
- 16:01Speaker 3: repair cost is seven hundred and forty two dollars. Right,
- 16:04Speaker 3: instead of using your card credit card, you go buy
- 16:07Speaker 3: a prepaid.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Visa card for exactly seven hundred and forty two dollars exactly. Yeah,
- 16:12Speaker 1: And that that way I don't have to worry about it. Also,
- 16:14Speaker 1: another here's a word word of warning to you. Also,
- 16:17Speaker 1: and he told told me this, never pay with a
- 16:19Speaker 1: debit card your debit God, no, you'll use the debit
- 16:22Speaker 1: card anywhere ever, Yeah, your debit liability limits are less
- 16:28Speaker 1: or are high, so like there's there's only fifty dollars
- 16:31Speaker 1: that they'll cover apparently with a credit card. Like if
- 16:35Speaker 1: you used American Express or Discover, you may have you know,
- 16:37Speaker 1: greater security, greater protection on that. So again you gotta
- 16:41Speaker 1: be careful of that.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Well real quick. Here's the thing about the debit card
- 16:45Speaker 3: is if they get your debit card and they somebody
- 16:47Speaker 3: hack you know, takes your debit card number, they can
- 16:50Speaker 3: literally drain your entire bank account. Yeah, and then your
- 16:53Speaker 3: bank account is going to be frozen and you're not
- 16:55Speaker 3: going to have any money until the bank figures out
- 16:57Speaker 3: what's going on. So don't ever use your debit card anywhere.
- 17:01Speaker 3: I don't care, gas, pump, convenience store, Target, Don't ever
- 17:05Speaker 3: use your debit card period. Use a credit card because
- 17:09Speaker 3: a credit card who cares if they get it, If
- 17:12Speaker 3: they get it, make a charge. You just call a
- 17:13Speaker 3: credit card company and say, yeah, I didn't do this,
- 17:15Speaker 3: and damn they'll take they'll take it away.
- 17:17Speaker 1: All right, So we know what you got. You got
- 17:19Speaker 1: coin Sean. You did something a little different. You told
- 17:23Speaker 1: us about it, and we I didn't think you were
- 17:25Speaker 1: gonna see this honestly for like another week or two.
- 17:28Speaker 2: But it has got it two days or after I
- 17:31Speaker 2: ordered it. Two days, Oh wow, two days I got it.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I ordered it on the second of December. I got
- 17:37Speaker 2: it on the fifth of December.
- 17:38Speaker 1: All right, give me.
- 17:40Speaker 2: This is if you're watching the video, this is the
- 17:43Speaker 2: DJI Power one thousand.
- 17:44Speaker 1: You're gonna break your shoulder putting that. I know it's heavy.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I feel like I.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Should do a workout with the thing, and then I'm
- 17:50Speaker 2: gonna look up the total way. I think it's about
- 17:52Speaker 2: twenty five pounds ish. This is the DJ powder one
- 17:56Speaker 2: thousand it is. They call them solar gen raiders, right,
- 18:00Speaker 2: that's that's not really what they are. It's just basically
- 18:03Speaker 2: a big inverter, a dced AC inverter. But it also
- 18:08Speaker 2: so it's got on the on the front. It's got
- 18:10Speaker 2: two U one ten plugs, two USB A and two
- 18:16Speaker 2: USBC on the front.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Plus it's got the.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Ability to charge it with you know, I can plug
- 18:20Speaker 2: it into an Edison plug on the wall, and I
- 18:23Speaker 2: can also then plug in I can't really see it.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I can plug in my solar panel and it'll it'll
- 18:30Speaker 2: draw power. It's basically a big solar controller, so I
- 18:33Speaker 2: can charge it with my solar panels on the go.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Did you get did you get? Did you get solar
- 18:38Speaker 1: panels with it?
- 18:39Speaker 3: No?
- 18:39Speaker 2: I did not, because I've already got four hundred watts
- 18:43Speaker 2: worth of solar panels on top of my camper, which
- 18:46Speaker 2: I can tie into this while we're camping if I
- 18:49Speaker 2: needed this right now. Now, I've got a lithium lithium
- 18:52Speaker 2: whatever they call light life po lithium iron phosphate battery
- 18:56Speaker 2: in my camper. So this is going to be in addition, like, hey,
- 19:00Speaker 2: we're over by the campfire and we want to have power.
- 19:02Speaker 2: We don't want to run an extension court from the
- 19:04Speaker 2: camper or you know, we're going out for a picnic
- 19:06Speaker 2: at the beach or whatever.
- 19:08Speaker 3: You know, if you're sitting by a campfire and you
- 19:10Speaker 3: pull that thing out, you better be pulling out like
- 19:12Speaker 3: sub wolfers in a DJ set because that thing is massive.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Uh.
- 19:17Speaker 3: You could you could hold a rave with that. Yeah.
- 19:19Speaker 2: If I would have if I would have had more
- 19:21Speaker 2: time tonight, if the boys would have been asleep a
- 19:23Speaker 2: little bit earlier, I was gonna run my entire setup
- 19:26Speaker 2: on this tonight.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Oh that would have been interesting. Oh wow, Yeah, because
- 19:29Speaker 1: this has been halfway through.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, probably this this this will do uh twenty five
- 19:34Speaker 2: hundred peak and I think twenty two hundred watt consistent,
- 19:38Speaker 2: which is way more than what my rig is set up. Right,
- 19:41Speaker 2: I'm not gonna pull that much power, but I'm curious
- 19:44Speaker 2: to see what I can do with it. It's it's
- 19:49Speaker 2: mostly just for a little bit of self self security.
- 19:51Speaker 2: You know, power outages, that kind of thing. You know,
- 19:55Speaker 2: I'll use it when we're camping, for sure, you know
- 20:00Speaker 2: I'll use it. A good example would have been when
- 20:03Speaker 2: we went and shot the eclipse. You know, I had
- 20:06Speaker 2: my camper there, but you know, Steve, my buddy, Steve
- 20:09Speaker 2: had he is set up his power telescope. I had
- 20:11Speaker 2: my cameras going, Dustin had his cameras going. You know,
- 20:14Speaker 2: we wanted to listen to the radio. You know, this
- 20:16Speaker 2: would have been perfect for that. How do we not
- 20:19Speaker 2: hit my camper or other things like that? So the
- 20:22Speaker 2: portable generator that's gonna satisfy most of my you know,
- 20:28Speaker 2: most of my needs. And it kind of came out
- 20:30Speaker 2: of nowhere. I know, we talked. I talk about a
- 20:32Speaker 2: lot about DJI on the show because there's such a
- 20:35Speaker 2: great The products that they've put out have been really,
- 20:40Speaker 2: really good over the last two decades, and this one
- 20:46Speaker 2: kind of came out of left field. We were talking
- 20:47Speaker 2: about it, and I think we had a drone launched
- 20:50Speaker 2: a week before that and then but if you can
- 20:52Speaker 2: find it on Amazon, I think they're still going for
- 20:55Speaker 2: nine ninety nine right now.
- 20:58Speaker 1: You ad but how much did you get it for?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Right? Right? So this is what we talked about last
- 21:02Speaker 2: week was I had texted Ady because I was like,
- 21:05Speaker 2: there's no way I got this for this kind of
- 21:06Speaker 2: a deal. I got an email from dj I saying, Hey,
- 21:09Speaker 2: Black Friday pre sale, take up to forty percent off,
- 21:12Speaker 2: blah blah blah. I was like, cool, I click down
- 21:14Speaker 2: the link and I was like, Oh, it's on sale
- 21:17Speaker 2: on Amazon for fifty percent off already. So it was
- 21:20Speaker 2: already like four ninety nine or something. So I was like,
- 21:24Speaker 2: there's no way that if I put this code in,
- 21:26Speaker 2: it's gonna apply another forty percent discount. Sure enough, it
- 21:30Speaker 2: dropped it to three forty nine or I think I
- 21:32Speaker 2: ended up paying with shipping like three eighty or three seven,
- 21:35Speaker 2: three seventy five or three eighty for this, which was incredible.
- 21:38Speaker 2: And you know, on the show, we looked up other
- 21:40Speaker 2: comparable bottles, like Anchor has one that was comparable, Jackerie
- 21:44Speaker 2: Rock Pals, There's a couple other good vendors that make these.
- 21:48Speaker 2: But I couldn't pass this up because I was literally
- 21:50Speaker 2: sitting on the couch when I ordered it because I
- 21:52Speaker 2: saw it. I was like, Kay, I'm buying this. She
- 21:54Speaker 2: goes what I was like, I told you I wanted
- 21:56Speaker 2: to buy this when it went on sale.
- 21:58Speaker 3: That's what I was just about to say. How many
- 22:00Speaker 3: rose pedal baths and back roaths that you have to
- 22:02Speaker 3: give Caitlin to to let her let you buy this.
- 22:07Speaker 2: As long as it's not like a several thousand dollars
- 22:10Speaker 2: purchase or several you know, it's over one thousand dollars.
- 22:14Speaker 2: We just trust each other with their money, so.
- 22:16Speaker 1: You know, it's it's really cool because uh, I, you know,
- 22:20Speaker 1: I would never thought of buying something like this, and
- 22:23Speaker 1: I got the anchor. It's a little smaller, it's a
- 22:26Speaker 1: lot smaller. It's about half the size of that, But
- 22:29Speaker 1: there is some kind of peace of mind that goes
- 22:31Speaker 1: with it just to have it here and have it
- 22:34Speaker 1: charged up, to have it ready to go, that you
- 22:37Speaker 1: know that if something happens, you could tune to turn
- 22:41Speaker 1: to this power generator and run an appliance or run
- 22:45Speaker 1: something that you may need off of that. And mine, honestly, Sean,
- 22:50Speaker 1: mine was two hundred bucks. You got that for maybe
- 22:54Speaker 1: just a little more than that, and you've got double
- 22:57Speaker 1: at least double the power, if not more.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna been an pull up the stat sheet
- 23:01Speaker 2: and let risk list rattle off a few things after
- 23:04Speaker 2: the break, But I just don't have it pulled up
- 23:06Speaker 2: right now. But yeah, I like this is just I'm not,
- 23:09Speaker 2: by any means a doomsday prepper, right, I just like
- 23:12Speaker 2: I'm I'm prepared to be comfortable. I'm not a boy scout.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I'm not. I'm just I like being prepared a little bit, right.
- 23:19Speaker 2: So my dad always instilled in me that you should
- 23:23Speaker 2: be prepared to survive for seventy two hours in any
- 23:27Speaker 2: situation while you're driving traveling just you know, motoring around
- 23:31Speaker 2: seventy two hours without aid. It's just kind of that.
- 23:34Speaker 2: That's kind of that if you look it up, that's
- 23:35Speaker 2: kind of the standard because by seventy two hours, it's
- 23:39Speaker 2: either gotten way beyond the need for aid or help
- 23:42Speaker 2: us come. Yeah, yeah, p seventy two hours. Like it's like,
- 23:46Speaker 2: I don't know, I've just become a little bit more
- 23:49Speaker 2: paranoid over the last decade.
- 23:50Speaker 1: All right, We'll tell you what. Maybe you can look
- 23:52Speaker 1: up some of those stats. We have to take quick break.
- 23:54Speaker 1: We got a couple of listener questions in I asked
- 23:57Speaker 1: this week for any questions, and we got some. So
- 24:00Speaker 1: we will do that with more of tech Talk Radio.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm justin.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Let me send us an X at tech talk Radio.
- 24:08Speaker 3: We be right back and now back to tech talk Radio.
- 24:12Speaker 2: So during the break, I pulled up the stat sheet
- 24:14Speaker 2: for the DJA power one thousand. It's it's pretty good, right,
- 24:18Speaker 2: So did quick some quick math. Right, it has at
- 24:22Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty vol one hundred to one hundred
- 24:24Speaker 2: and twenty volts. That's the standard American power consumption. It
- 24:27Speaker 2: has a continuous output of twenty two hundred watts. Oh wow,
- 24:31Speaker 2: if you do if you do the math on that
- 24:33Speaker 2: at one hundred and twenty vaults two hundred twenty watts,
- 24:35Speaker 2: you do the math. That's ten amps of total capacity
- 24:39Speaker 2: I could put. I could run up to ten amps
- 24:42Speaker 2: of power through this thing. So if and I Andy
- 24:48Speaker 2: would say something, well, they could run your freezer. So
- 24:50Speaker 2: I looked it up. What is the average power draw
- 24:52Speaker 2: on a freezer? Obviously a kupresso startup draws more power,
- 24:56Speaker 2: so about four and a half amps on startup, But
- 24:59Speaker 2: then it can continuous draw of about one and a
- 25:01Speaker 2: half to two amps of power. This could power my freezer.
- 25:04Speaker 2: For several hours.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Oh wow, that's good. So that was on top of that.
- 25:09Speaker 2: If you know, if we have a sunny day when
- 25:11Speaker 2: we have power out, I can just extend my solar
- 25:13Speaker 2: panel out into the front yard and you know, just
- 25:16Speaker 2: let it, let it trickle charge back in while it's
- 25:18Speaker 2: also powering my my freezer, my fridge, or you know,
- 25:22Speaker 2: it's even enough to run the blower fan on my furnace.
- 25:26Speaker 2: So if we have a power outers in the wintertime
- 25:28Speaker 2: it would blow, it would power the blower motor on
- 25:30Speaker 2: my furnace, which is great. So just just some peace
- 25:35Speaker 2: of mind stuff happening. That looity of live stuff.
- 25:38Speaker 3: And you said that you've got that for three and
- 25:41Speaker 3: fifty bucks, I mean, I guess.
- 25:42Speaker 2: So as of this recording, it is still half price
- 25:46Speaker 2: on Amazon. You can still go to Amazon and get
- 25:48Speaker 2: it from Amazon through the DGI store half off. So
- 25:52Speaker 2: if you can get a code from DJI, you could
- 25:55Speaker 2: probably get the double dip discount that I got. So
- 26:00Speaker 2: just checking if if you're interested in these, just go
- 26:01Speaker 2: check it out, right, dj I I have brand loyalty
- 26:04Speaker 2: a little bit there, right, Yeah, there are there are
- 26:07Speaker 2: other brands are cheaper than dj I. I'm just putting
- 26:11Speaker 2: that out there.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I'm not what I'm What I'm trying to say to
- 26:13Speaker 3: you is I don't think anybody's gonna get d g
- 26:15Speaker 3: I code because you are mister d J I like.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I get a lot of d j I uh promotional emails.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Right, Hey, did we ever find out if there are drones?
- 26:28Speaker 1: What's going on with that legislation?
- 26:30Speaker 2: You know, I will continue and ask chat gypt because
- 26:34Speaker 2: I have a trending topic with them on that. I
- 26:37Speaker 2: will ask for an update and I'll get back to
- 26:39Speaker 2: you after after the next break.
- 26:40Speaker 3: The thing is this, you can't ask CHATTYPT because chatty
- 26:42Speaker 3: BT's knowledge based cutoff is like a year ago.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I wonder.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's been pretty good about it when I
- 26:50Speaker 2: ask it for updates. I also have the paid version,
- 26:54Speaker 2: so that might be a little drunk.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Okay, well, Jen, I've been I've been using.
- 26:58Speaker 2: It and I'll get it because I've prompted it several
- 27:01Speaker 2: times over the last year on this topic.
- 27:03Speaker 1: So yeah, I've been using Gemini. Sometimes I'm happy with it.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Other times I'm like, no, no, you're way wrong Gemini,
- 27:11Speaker 1: and you could tell it and it will then give
- 27:13Speaker 1: you the corrected info like, well, didn't you have that
- 27:16Speaker 1: info in the first place for you to correct me
- 27:18Speaker 1: with it? But either way, all right, we got questions
- 27:21Speaker 1: listener question. This one is from Ron in Tucson said, hey, guys,
- 27:25Speaker 1: love your show. Have been listening for years. I say, guys,
- 27:29Speaker 1: but I do miss hearing Amanda on your show. She'll
- 27:32Speaker 1: be happy to hear that. I said, I have a
- 27:33Speaker 1: small business and have about six computers that I want
- 27:37Speaker 1: to get networked so I could share files and printers. Now,
- 27:41Speaker 1: if I was to run the cables, I have two
- 27:44Speaker 1: offices and a computer upfront in the lobby. Could I
- 27:47Speaker 1: just buy a router and connect them? Is it difficult
- 27:50Speaker 1: to set up? And again that's Ron and Tucson.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I feel like this is right up Justin's alley because
- 27:56Speaker 2: this is daily.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Yeah, every day, every day you're doing with this.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Oh man, could you repeat the question one more time
- 28:05Speaker 3: because I want to make sure that I understand exactly
- 28:07Speaker 3: what he's.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Trust six computers, he wants to have them networked, Yes,
- 28:12Speaker 1: so he could share files and printers, and he was
- 28:16Speaker 1: to run the cables. He has two offices obviously they're
- 28:20Speaker 1: closed off I guess, and a computer upfront in the lobby,
- 28:23Speaker 1: So there must be like a you know, a lobby,
- 28:26Speaker 1: a waiting room or whatnot. And he was to know
- 28:28Speaker 1: could he just buy like a router and connect them, And.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Well, I mean, if you've got if you've got internet
- 28:34Speaker 3: in your office, I mean probably through you know, your
- 28:37Speaker 3: local ISP. The modem that they give you is also
- 28:40Speaker 3: acting as a layer three gateway slash router, so it
- 28:43Speaker 3: is going to do everything for you in terms of
- 28:45Speaker 3: handing out IP addresses to each of your devices on
- 28:48Speaker 3: your network. I would say probably the only thing you
- 28:52Speaker 3: really need to do is just buy a layer two switch.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Okay, and just like a like.
- 29:00Speaker 3: A net gear maybe at like a Linksys or an
- 29:03Speaker 3: f S f S is a little bit nicer f
- 29:06Speaker 3: fs dot com. Just by a layer two even maybe
- 29:10Speaker 3: even a layer well actually layer three switch. Really they're
- 29:16Speaker 3: not expensive, like one hundred bucks for like a ten
- 29:18Speaker 3: port maybe you know for one ten ports, right, well,
- 29:21Speaker 3: you don't even really need ten ports, but like a
- 29:23Speaker 3: managed layer three switch that you can get in and
- 29:26Speaker 3: you can set each port to be on a particular
- 29:28Speaker 3: VLAN if you want to like isolate printers from computers
- 29:34Speaker 3: or isolate security cameras from your computers or whatever like,
- 29:38Speaker 3: you could have multiple v lands on a Layer three switch. Honestly,
- 29:41Speaker 3: that's all you need a switch. You need your your
- 29:43Speaker 3: data at providers providing you with a Layer three router.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I'm wondering, would you need a managed switch or is
- 29:50Speaker 1: that really not necessary?
- 29:52Speaker 3: I mean, like I said, the only reason to haven't
- 29:54Speaker 3: managed is if you want to isolate, you know, devices
- 29:57Speaker 3: on your network from not talking to each other. Like
- 29:59Speaker 3: I said, security cameras. If you've got a bunch of
- 30:01Speaker 3: security cameras that are wired and you want to keep
- 30:04Speaker 3: them separate from the computers, then you want to manage
- 30:07Speaker 3: switch because then you can put the cameras on vland
- 30:09Speaker 3: one hundred and your computers on vland two hundred, so
- 30:13Speaker 3: that way they never actually talk to each other. They
- 30:15Speaker 3: can talk to each other if you want them to,
- 30:18Speaker 3: but it's just like in everyday general traffic. They're not
- 30:22Speaker 3: going to be talking to each other.
- 30:23Speaker 1: But they can all be plugged into that switch, and
- 30:25Speaker 1: then your internet connection we come into the back of that.
- 30:28Speaker 1: The other thought is if he didn't want to do
- 30:30Speaker 1: any wiring. Now I have a power line network here,
- 30:34Speaker 1: I'm not entirely enthused about it. It's not the fastest
- 30:38Speaker 1: option in the world. But could he also do this
- 30:41Speaker 1: with a mesh network Wi Fi mesh network or when
- 30:44Speaker 1: you're in a business, is that maybe not the best
- 30:47Speaker 1: idea to you know, I mean, most of your connections
- 30:51Speaker 1: you're going to do, like I know in your situations
- 30:53Speaker 1: justin are going to be wired. But in a mesh system,
- 30:56Speaker 1: you have you know, a router like io lynksyst makes,
- 30:59Speaker 1: some ACE who has them, a lot of company net gear,
- 31:03Speaker 1: and then you have throughout the building. So you know,
- 31:07Speaker 1: what would what would be the solution there? What?
- 31:11Speaker 3: Uh, I'm not I'm not even really exactly sure how
- 31:14Speaker 3: to approach this part of the question with a mesh network,
- 31:17Speaker 3: because you're really opening up a can of worms when
- 31:20Speaker 3: you get into like a mesh network. I think this
- 31:24Speaker 3: would be something to answer this part of this question.
- 31:28Speaker 3: I think this would be better taken offline, to be honest,
- 31:31Speaker 3: because there's so much to talk about. There's just there's
- 31:34Speaker 3: so much to talk about when it comes to a
- 31:35Speaker 3: mesh network.
- 31:36Speaker 2: At this point, you're you're at that you're at the
- 31:38Speaker 2: line of hiring a professional. Yeah, at the line of
- 31:43Speaker 2: you know, you don't need to necessarily pay a firm
- 31:45Speaker 2: to manage it for you, but like to to draw
- 31:47Speaker 2: it out, architect it, to get it on paper so
- 31:50Speaker 2: you know exactly what you're doing and what you're getting.
- 31:53Speaker 1: You're at that line, I would I would almost recommend
- 31:56Speaker 1: maybe doing a flow chart of okay, where is the
- 31:59Speaker 1: you know, they could uters, you know, a flow chart
- 32:02Speaker 1: showing the wiring, because a lot of people forget you
- 32:04Speaker 1: don't just run the wire on the floor.
- 32:06Speaker 3: You get to run the wire.
- 32:08Speaker 1: You want to have it run properly and sewan your point,
- 32:11Speaker 1: maybe hiring somebody to actually install the cat, you know,
- 32:15Speaker 1: the cat six jacks or whatever to get get them
- 32:19Speaker 1: done properly.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Because because what's gonna happen is if we tell them
- 32:22Speaker 2: how to set it up. Hey, here's how you share files,
- 32:24Speaker 2: then he's going to come back and say, hey, I
- 32:25Speaker 2: need your help. I unplunk something and now it's not
- 32:27Speaker 2: working anymore. Please fix it? Right, So who's going to
- 32:30Speaker 2: maintain it for you?
- 32:31Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, I'll be what it breaks like.
- 32:34Speaker 2: It's basic technical support, sure, but beyond that, it's that
- 32:40Speaker 2: this is this is your at the point where you
- 32:42Speaker 2: need to hire somebody who's day job that can come
- 32:45Speaker 2: and support you at your shop in person and give
- 32:48Speaker 2: you the knowledge that you want.
- 32:49Speaker 3: This is kind of what I was leading towards. I
- 32:52Speaker 3: didn't really want to say that because I didn't want
- 32:54Speaker 3: to put us on the hook for it. But but
- 32:56Speaker 3: I mean honestly this, Yes, if you're looking to get
- 32:59Speaker 3: something that complex, you really need to hire somebody to
- 33:02Speaker 3: do that for you.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that would make sense and it could be
- 33:06Speaker 1: kind of a Dante task. I don't know if you
- 33:08Speaker 1: guys ran the latest STO Windows update. They just you know,
- 33:11Speaker 1: they ran another update for Windows eleven and unfortunately the
- 33:16Speaker 1: update has taken away a lot of things. Number one,
- 33:19Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys noticed, but word pad
- 33:21Speaker 1: is gone now. So what word pad is gone? Yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 1: in the latest STOW Windows update. If you use for
- 33:28Speaker 1: Windows eleven still has it. Yeah. You may say you
- 33:31Speaker 1: may not have run the other update that that is
- 33:34Speaker 1: the one that's taking it out. Uh, so word pad
- 33:37Speaker 1: has gone for many. The other one is they had
- 33:39Speaker 1: a problem with the file sharing, so some people who
- 33:42Speaker 1: were able to normally share files over a system suddenly
- 33:46Speaker 1: those shared folders were gone, so they had to be
- 33:49Speaker 1: reshared and it was causing some headaches, which is very interesting.
- 33:53Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys noticed, but uh, there
- 33:56Speaker 1: was a story that I saw just just actually couple
- 34:00Speaker 1: of days ago that Microsoft has now got a kind
- 34:05Speaker 1: of an upgrade path for you to upgrade to Windows
- 34:09Speaker 1: eleven from Windows ten, even if you do not have
- 34:13Speaker 1: TPM two point zero or maybe or maybe your system
- 34:17Speaker 1: is not ready. PC World had the original story and
- 34:21Speaker 1: they have official instructions. Now they're warning you though. They're
- 34:24Speaker 1: saying that it includes, uh, you know this, you could
- 34:28Speaker 1: have problems like system crashes, the lack of crucial security
- 34:31Speaker 1: updates that otherwise keep the PC safe. And this is
- 34:34Speaker 1: because in October, you know, Windows ten will no longer
- 34:38Speaker 1: be supported. So the idea was get everybody to Windows eleven.
- 34:43Speaker 1: And some people are not like me, I'm not able
- 34:46Speaker 1: to do it on one of my systems that was,
- 34:49Speaker 1: you know, a pretty expensive processor and a motherboard. Couldn't
- 34:52Speaker 1: do it. And now maybe we'll give it a try.
- 34:54Speaker 2: We're in the market so over Thanksgiving, the man laws
- 34:58Speaker 2: and they said, we've got this laptop and it's telling
- 35:01Speaker 2: us we need upgrade to Windows eleven and what do
- 35:04Speaker 2: you think? And I was like, well, let's check it out.
- 35:07Speaker 2: And sure enough, it's just old enough to not be
- 35:11Speaker 2: supported by Windows eleven, not necessarily because it doesn't have
- 35:14Speaker 2: TPM too, but the processor is an early early Gen
- 35:18Speaker 2: I three that is just beyond the boarded, which, to
- 35:22Speaker 2: be fair, it's time for them to get an upgrade. Yeah,
- 35:26Speaker 2: so we I get to go computer shopping with my
- 35:29Speaker 2: in laws to kind of get them an idea of
- 35:30Speaker 2: what they want. So now it's you know, trying to
- 35:35Speaker 2: figure out what they want versus, Okay, here's what I
- 35:38Speaker 2: think you should get. Because if I give them a
- 35:40Speaker 2: computer laptop that I think they would want, they're gonna
- 35:42Speaker 2: hate it because it's it's not gonna look right, it's
- 35:44Speaker 2: not gonna feel right, it's not gonna be wide enough,
- 35:46Speaker 2: it's not enough. So I'm going to take them shopping,
- 35:50Speaker 2: like right, go to mess Buy. We're gonna look at computers.
- 35:52Speaker 2: We're gonna get an idea of what they want, what
- 35:55Speaker 2: they want to see, the feel that, do you want
- 35:57Speaker 2: the number pad like all that stuff, because they're very
- 36:01Speaker 2: particular when it comes to their computer. So I don't
- 36:03Speaker 2: want to just get them a computer and say here
- 36:05Speaker 2: you go, because then I'm gonna be on the hook
- 36:07Speaker 2: for well, hargarment doesn't have a number. Bad, Now I
- 36:09Speaker 2: need any keyboard.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Yeah, well all this now here's one of the things too.
- 36:13Speaker 1: After installing this, this would drive me nuts. You know.
- 36:16Speaker 1: It says if your device doesn't meet the requirements before
- 36:19Speaker 1: doing Windows eleven, you'll see a water mark added to
- 36:23Speaker 1: the desktop and then you'll see a notification of the
- 36:26Speaker 1: settings app and they can only be removed with registery tweaks.
- 36:31Speaker 1: That's it. Now, I have kind of an add when
- 36:35Speaker 1: it comes to notifications. If I see a notification, I
- 36:38Speaker 1: want it to go away. I want that little dot.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I want whatever that is popping up to not to
- 36:43Speaker 1: just go away. I don't want to look at it,
- 36:45Speaker 1: and I get I get really upset when I have
- 36:47Speaker 1: these notifications. So this could drive some people very like, uh, frustrated.
- 36:52Speaker 1: And can you go back to Windows ten? You can,
- 36:55Speaker 1: but you'd only have ten days to do so, and
- 36:57Speaker 1: if you don't, you're stuck with what you got. So well,
- 37:00Speaker 1: if you want to go for it support dot Microsoft
- 37:02Speaker 1: dot com, you can do a search for installing Windows
- 37:05Speaker 1: eleven on devices that don't meet SYS minimum System requirements
- 37:09Speaker 1: and you may be able to find that there.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Well, what I think What I think happened was like
- 37:13Speaker 2: they had and I think they approached this the business way, right.
- 37:19Speaker 2: They said, they scare tactic, We're not going to support
- 37:22Speaker 2: Windows ten anymore. You have to upgrade, blah blah blah.
- 37:25Speaker 2: And I'm sure they're getting a kickback from every vendor
- 37:29Speaker 2: that installs. You know, all these companies that buy volume
- 37:33Speaker 2: licenses from Microsoft probably said, well, if you just make
- 37:36Speaker 2: it so it seems like our stuff won't run on
- 37:38Speaker 2: Windows eleven, maybe people run Windows ten, they'll upgrade to
- 37:41Speaker 2: Windows eleven, and we'll give you a little bit of
- 37:42Speaker 2: the kickback. Because then coming back a year and a half,
- 37:47Speaker 2: two years later after Windows eleven, was saying, well, maybe
- 37:50Speaker 2: your processor could have ran Windows eleven. We just didn't
- 37:53Speaker 2: know at the time. Of course you knew. It's just
- 37:56Speaker 2: you were getting more people onto your platform to accept
- 37:59Speaker 2: your user terms of agreements because they've been so much
- 38:02Speaker 2: more updated. Plus you get Copilot and all this other stuff.
- 38:06Speaker 2: And you know what has fallen off the radar that
- 38:08Speaker 2: you haven't heard about? What's the AI backup?
- 38:12Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, what happened with that?
- 38:13Speaker 2: Where did it go?
- 38:15Speaker 1: Interesting?
- 38:16Speaker 2: Be such the the I don't remember what it was called,
- 38:19Speaker 2: even because it's it's it was, so it hit the
- 38:22Speaker 2: internet saying that Windows is going to capture your desktop
- 38:26Speaker 2: every second so that you can you can go back
- 38:31Speaker 2: and you can search for where did I put this
- 38:33Speaker 2: important pdf on my desktop? And it's gonna be like, oh,
- 38:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna use AI and analyze your dah.
- 38:37Speaker 3: I think I think that the backlash on that just
- 38:40Speaker 3: they kind of quietly just said, you know what, We're
- 38:42Speaker 3: just gonna not do.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Yeah, because they couldn't answer basic things like where's the store,
- 38:47Speaker 2: where are all these images stored? Is it in the cloud,
- 38:49Speaker 2: where is it? And it's just how often they it's
- 38:54Speaker 2: just wild that happening.
- 38:56Speaker 1: We got to take another quick break. We come back.
- 38:58Speaker 1: We do have another question and we got some other
- 39:01Speaker 1: news that we will share with you with tech Talk Radio.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I'm Dye Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm Justin.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Let me find us on the internet's dot talk radio
- 39:09Speaker 3: dot com. We'll be right.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Back now back to Chief Talk Radio.
- 39:15Speaker 3: All right, we got another listener question from Mary in
- 39:17Speaker 3: Oral Valley says, I'm thinking about getting some new speakers
- 39:20Speaker 3: from my desktop computer. Is there a brand that you
- 39:22Speaker 3: would recommend a coworker said, to get a Bluetooth so
- 39:26Speaker 3: I can connect other devices to that. Does that make sense?
- 39:28Speaker 3: It does, Mary. However, if you're looking at getting computer
- 39:32Speaker 3: speakers for your desktop, honestly, I would just go with
- 39:37Speaker 3: the simple old Logitech three speaker system. It's two satellite
- 39:42Speaker 3: speakers and a tiny subwoofer that sits under your desk.
- 39:45Speaker 3: They work great, they have great sound, and I believe
- 39:49Speaker 3: you can probably get those for about fifty bucks on Amazon,
- 39:51Speaker 3: maybe sixty.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Five and maybe even less.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Would maybe even less. Really, I mean, I would not
- 39:56Speaker 3: go with like a super cheap knockoff brand because you're
- 39:58Speaker 3: not gonna get a good sound. I person only have
- 40:00Speaker 3: I've had the seven point one surround Logitech. I now
- 40:03Speaker 3: have the three point one, which I mean, I'm sorry,
- 40:06Speaker 3: the two point one, which means two speakers in a sub.
- 40:09Speaker 3: I love the quality just for for being able to
- 40:12Speaker 3: listen to regular music. I mean, I'm not I'm not
- 40:15Speaker 3: an audio file right right, I don't. I don't need
- 40:17Speaker 3: I don't need lossless quality with speakers. But for the
- 40:21Speaker 3: price that I paid, I think it was like sixty
- 40:22Speaker 3: five dollars for a two point one Logitech wired system
- 40:27Speaker 3: for your desktop. I think that's great. Now, Bluetooth is
- 40:29Speaker 3: great if you want to be able to connect your
- 40:31Speaker 3: phone to it. Now there are some I mean, you
- 40:34Speaker 3: can get a wired system that will plug into your desktop,
- 40:37Speaker 3: but it also has the ability to connect Bluetooth to
- 40:40Speaker 3: it in case you want to connect your phone temporarily
- 40:44Speaker 3: and play music off of that. So I would take
- 40:46Speaker 3: a look. But my recommendation the Logitech two point one system.
- 40:50Speaker 1: I've at one of the best I ever had, and
- 40:52Speaker 1: I've I've got Logitech as well, But one of the
- 40:54Speaker 1: best I ever had was Altic Lancing and all tic
- 40:57Speaker 1: Lancing had this this system. It was a two one,
- 41:00Speaker 1: but oh my gosh, was that amazing? A great sub
- 41:04Speaker 1: bloo for the whole bit. What have you got?
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yeah, So I agree that having a setup with a
- 41:10Speaker 2: two point one or you know, two speakers in a
- 41:12Speaker 2: sub would be great. This I got this as a
- 41:15Speaker 2: gift last year for Christmas at work. It's a jbl
- 41:18Speaker 2: clip Clip two point l or something right, it's called
- 41:22Speaker 2: a clip three. It's a Bluetooth. It's just it's waterproof,
- 41:26Speaker 2: I can, you know. But I just wanted a quick
- 41:29Speaker 2: Bluetooth speaker that I could just drop down by my computer.
- 41:32Speaker 2: It's a low profile, it sits right in front of me.
- 41:35Speaker 2: I have it plugged in power. It connects Bluetooth to
- 41:39Speaker 2: my computer. I turn it on, it connects automatically to
- 41:41Speaker 2: my computer. But I could take it away and plug
- 41:43Speaker 2: it into my phone, or you know, it's got an
- 41:45Speaker 2: oxport on the bottom, so I could plug it into
- 41:48Speaker 2: a different, different device, my laptop, et cetera, or connect
- 41:51Speaker 2: be a Bluetooth.
- 41:52Speaker 1: So that's JBL.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I've had really great success with JBL products over
- 41:57Speaker 2: the years professionally and personally. Is not a bad brand,
- 42:01Speaker 2: and just a quick a quick Google best Buy has
- 42:05Speaker 2: a set of JBL two point oh that just means
- 42:08Speaker 2: two speakers, no sub two point oh. When you say
- 42:10Speaker 2: two point one that he means two speakers and a
- 42:13Speaker 2: sub that has a powered Bluetooth speaker set with a
- 42:19Speaker 2: with a single speaker and a satellite. So two right,
- 42:22Speaker 2: excuse me, two decent speakers. So there are options for
- 42:26Speaker 2: desktop Bluetooth speakers that look like desktop Bluetooth speakers that
- 42:30Speaker 2: you can then connect your phone to your laptop, et cetera,
- 42:34Speaker 2: but also have looking more like a desktop setup. If
- 42:37Speaker 2: you will.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Now, for Mary in oral Value, you ask a question.
- 42:40Speaker 1: One thing you're gonna have to think about though, if
- 42:41Speaker 1: you'll have a desktop that maybe does not have a
- 42:44Speaker 1: Bluetooth key, you may have to invest in a Bluetooth
- 42:47Speaker 1: key which you can buy and they plug into a
- 42:49Speaker 1: USB slot on your your computer, and that would then
- 42:53Speaker 1: of course give the ability to connect to those speakers
- 42:56Speaker 1: via Bluetooth.
- 42:56Speaker 2: So that might I feel like I feel like you're
- 42:59Speaker 2: gonna be hard pressed to find motherboards that don't support
- 43:02Speaker 2: Bluetooth these days. Yeah, now you go back five years,
- 43:06Speaker 2: if your computer's five years old, laptops one hundred percent
- 43:09Speaker 2: are gonna blue shooth it just that's just part of it.
- 43:12Speaker 2: But desktops you're gonna be I think it's most most
- 43:17Speaker 2: current generation motherboards and maybe even one generation or two
- 43:21Speaker 2: generations older have Bluetooth support on them.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Yeah. I love Bluetooth. I've got a Bluetooth pop mouse
- 43:27Speaker 1: from Logitech. I love it because it's Bluetooth connects to
- 43:31Speaker 1: my laptop and I don't use up a USB port
- 43:34Speaker 1: for the mouse says wireless, So I could you use
- 43:36Speaker 1: it that way without having to to use that So
- 43:38Speaker 1: anytime you could use it, why not. It's a it's
- 43:41Speaker 1: a pretty good idea.
- 43:42Speaker 2: I mean the advantages of Bluetooth are just fantastic. Right
- 43:45Speaker 2: at work, when you've got four server racks and you
- 43:49Speaker 2: don't want to have to you know, screen one screen
- 43:52Speaker 2: for multiple computers, A Bluetooth keyboard can save you so
- 43:55Speaker 2: much hassle in connecting, in connecting and getting one computer
- 43:59Speaker 2: on a keyboard of mouse.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Absolutely all right, now, justin we know that you have
- 44:04Speaker 1: a Tesla. We've talked about Tesla before, and you've been
- 44:09Speaker 1: going through a little issue recently. Now I don't know
- 44:12Speaker 1: if it's with the Tesla or the Ford, but what
- 44:16Speaker 1: is the situation now with this? Well?
- 44:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I my my my car is a
- 44:21Speaker 3: twenty seventeen Ford Explorer. I've had it, you know, before
- 44:24Speaker 3: Eric was born. It's been a great car, you know,
- 44:27Speaker 3: And I don't I didn't really drive it all that much.
- 44:29Speaker 3: I mean obviously twenty twenty, twenty, twenty twenty one, twenty two,
- 44:33Speaker 3: I barely even drove it because I was working from
- 44:35Speaker 3: home the entire time. So a twenty seventeen Ford Explorer,
- 44:38Speaker 3: I've got forty two thousand miles on it. I mean,
- 44:40Speaker 3: that's that's that's not very much for and I've got
- 44:43Speaker 3: brand new tires, brand new breaks. Problem is the head
- 44:47Speaker 3: unit is starting to fail. What is that head unit is? Well,
- 44:50Speaker 3: the head unit would be typically you would think of
- 44:52Speaker 3: your radio, right, but it's not. It's not just the radio.
- 44:56Speaker 3: I mean I would be fine if it was just
- 44:57Speaker 3: the radio whatever, not a big deal. But the this thing,
- 45:00Speaker 3: this head unit is the brain of your car. I mean,
- 45:02Speaker 3: it controls the GPS, it controls the backup camera, it
- 45:05Speaker 3: controls the climate, it controls the radio, it controls all
- 45:09Speaker 3: the other settings. It controls your door locks, it controls everything.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Oh so if this head unit fails, the car is
- 45:14Speaker 3: basically a brick. Yeah, and the service to no, well, no, no,
- 45:20Speaker 3: you have to buy another one. And they're about one
- 45:21Speaker 3: thousand dollars.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Oh boy.
- 45:23Speaker 3: And I'm like, I don't want to do this because
- 45:24Speaker 3: I wasn't planning on keeping this car for more than
- 45:26Speaker 3: another year or so, because that was my my deal
- 45:29Speaker 3: is I buy this and I keep it for ten
- 45:31Speaker 3: years and then I and I get a new car. Well,
- 45:35Speaker 3: you know, unfortunately it's starting to fail a little bit
- 45:37Speaker 3: sooner rather than later. So I was gonna buy another Tesla,
- 45:41Speaker 3: and I was telling me, says, I want a Tesla,
- 45:44Speaker 3: and right now is the great time to do because
- 45:46Speaker 3: the incentives are gonna are gonna go away at the
- 45:48Speaker 3: end of the year, right and mesays like, no, no,
- 45:50Speaker 3: we're not We're not doing another Tesla because we need
- 45:53Speaker 3: to have one gas car.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Okay. She does make sense there, though, though, well.
- 45:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I know it does. I get it. I get it.
- 46:00Speaker 3: But I was like, but I want a Tesla. So yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 3: she said, fine, take my Tesla.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Oh and put her in a gas vehicle.
- 46:11Speaker 3: So she is most likely going to get a twenty
- 46:15Speaker 3: twenty five Toyota Corolla.
- 46:17Speaker 1: She's getting a new car out of it. I like it.
- 46:19Speaker 1: She's not a new car.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Two new cars in two years, but I get the Tesla.
- 46:25Speaker 3: So yeah, but no. The thing is is, like I said,
- 46:28Speaker 3: I don't want to have to pay the extra money
- 46:30Speaker 3: to try to repair this head unit. If I'm just
- 46:32Speaker 3: going to sell it in the year, I would rather
- 46:34Speaker 3: try to sell it now before the head unit fails,
- 46:37Speaker 3: you know, So that way I get a little bit
- 46:38Speaker 3: extra money out of it because it's not failed yet,
- 46:41Speaker 3: it's just start. So what happens is every single time
- 46:43Speaker 3: I turn on my vehicle, it has to go through
- 46:45Speaker 3: the initial setup process again every single time. Yeah, and
- 46:49Speaker 3: looking it up online it says that, yes, this is
- 46:51Speaker 3: a sign of your head unit the computer failing because
- 46:55Speaker 3: it can't keep It's like a memory issue or something.
- 46:57Speaker 3: It can't keep the memory in place. So I'm looking
- 47:01Speaker 3: at just getting rid of it while I can taking
- 47:04Speaker 3: over the Tesla. Let go get mesa car. We went
- 47:08Speaker 3: out less last weekend. We went over to the Toyota
- 47:09Speaker 3: dealership in Colorado here is like two minutes, five minutes
- 47:13Speaker 3: away whatever. On a Sunday, they're closed.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Oh they do, say Sunday. Yeah, they do it Sunday.
- 47:19Speaker 2: What the what the heck?
- 47:20Speaker 3: Bro I mean, not everybody can buy a car on
- 47:22Speaker 3: Monday through Friday. I would think they would be closed
- 47:25Speaker 3: Monday Tuesday, you know, and then and then open through
- 47:28Speaker 3: weekend because people want to buy cars on the weekend.
- 47:30Speaker 1: I never understood that. But if you think about it,
- 47:34Speaker 1: most people are financing a new car. Most people are
- 47:36Speaker 1: going to do that, and finance companies, banks gonna be
- 47:40Speaker 1: hard for you to make that purchase on a Sunday,
- 47:42Speaker 1: So I think that might have something to do with it.
- 47:45Speaker 1: They do it here in tu I never thought about that,
- 47:47Speaker 1: so that could be it. You know as well. But
- 47:51Speaker 1: were you able to walk around the lot at least
- 47:52Speaker 1: or with all the cars?
- 47:53Speaker 3: Well, I mean we walked around the front of the
- 47:56Speaker 3: lot to the point where we could without having to
- 47:58Speaker 3: get behind fences. And I tell you right now, at
- 48:01Speaker 3: the front of the lot was literally just was four
- 48:03Speaker 3: erunners and and tundras.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Because a lot of people have told me they like
- 48:08Speaker 1: the way a Tesla drives, that they enjoy it. I mean,
- 48:12Speaker 1: would she be fine?
- 48:14Speaker 3: Oh yeah, no, she I think. Well, I mean that
- 48:16Speaker 3: was our goal on Sunday was just to go get
- 48:18Speaker 3: a simple test drive, you know, not to buy it,
- 48:20Speaker 3: but just to go get a simple test drive. But yeah,
- 48:24Speaker 3: we couldn't even do that. So I think we're going
- 48:25Speaker 3: to try to go again on Saturday of this week
- 48:28Speaker 3: here and maybe go do a test drive, and who knows,
- 48:31Speaker 3: maybe we walk out with a new car. I'm about
- 48:33Speaker 3: a hybrid, Well, that's what it is. It's it's a
- 48:36Speaker 3: it's a plug in hybrid Camry with intelligent all wheel drive.
- 48:41Speaker 3: That was one thing she wanted was all wheel drive.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Been around forever, you know, But I told her, I said,
- 48:47Speaker 3: you can't get an all wheel drive unless you go
- 48:49Speaker 3: SUV and she's like, I don't want an suv, I
- 48:51Speaker 3: want a car. So finding the Camri was one of
- 48:54Speaker 3: the only ones that we could find that had an
- 48:56Speaker 3: all wheel drive in a sedan.
- 49:00Speaker 1: You hate buying a car though, I mean no, I
- 49:02Speaker 1: do nothing against the car dealerships.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Well, that's why I love Tesla.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Tesla.
- 49:05Speaker 3: They don't give a crap. They're just like, this is
- 49:07Speaker 3: your car, do you want it or not, Like, we're
- 49:10Speaker 3: not gonna we're not gonna negotiate. This is the price
- 49:12Speaker 3: and take it or leave it. But when you go
- 49:14Speaker 3: to a typical car dealer, they're like, well, you know,
- 49:16Speaker 3: we got incentives and we got a deal, and here's
- 49:19Speaker 3: the four square. It tells you what your payment might be.
- 49:22Speaker 3: And I'm like, okay, first off, if you pull a
- 49:24Speaker 3: four square on me, and anybody that that's been to
- 49:26Speaker 3: a car dealership recently knows what the four square is.
- 49:29Speaker 3: What if this is their way of trying to get
- 49:33Speaker 3: you to make the deal look good. Okay, when you
- 49:36Speaker 3: go to a car dealer, if they they it's they
- 49:38Speaker 3: call it a four square. Literally, they draw a cross
- 49:40Speaker 3: on a piece of paper and they put the different
- 49:42Speaker 3: payments with the different aprs in each of the squares,
- 49:46Speaker 3: and they say, well, if you put down this amount
- 49:48Speaker 3: of money, this is what your payment will look like.
- 49:50Speaker 3: But if you put down this amount of money with
- 49:52Speaker 3: this interest rate, this is what So they basically it's
- 49:54Speaker 3: smoking therrors. And if they if they pull out a
- 49:57Speaker 3: four square on me, I'm walking out. I'm gonna tell
- 49:59Speaker 3: them right awa, I'm gonna tell me right off the bat.
- 50:00Speaker 3: I'll be like, all right, now that we're on the
- 50:02Speaker 3: test drive, let's go talk price. And if you pull
- 50:03Speaker 3: a four square on me, I'm gonna walk out of
- 50:05Speaker 3: this place.
- 50:06Speaker 1: And you're looking you're looking new, so you don't have
- 50:08Speaker 1: to worry about car facts or anything like that.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Right, No, it'd be it would definitely be new. But yeah, again,
- 50:13Speaker 3: I just I don't like dealing with car dealers.
- 50:16Speaker 1: How much more life does the Tesla have on it?
- 50:18Speaker 1: Do you think?
- 50:19Speaker 3: Oh? God, I would say probably another ten years, if
- 50:23Speaker 3: not more.
- 50:23Speaker 1: And but she wants she doesn't want you to be
- 50:26Speaker 1: an all electric car a household. So the idea of
- 50:29Speaker 1: pitching her Rivian or any of.
- 50:31Speaker 3: The other Rivian would be great, except Rivian doesn't make
- 50:34Speaker 3: any cars. They make SUVs. And again, she doesn't want
- 50:36Speaker 3: an suv. Ah, all right, and Rivian is too expensive.
- 50:42Speaker 3: I even picture of Volvo and she was like, well,
- 50:44Speaker 3: it looks beautiful, but it's way too expensive.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Yeah. They're very safe cars though, Volvos. Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 50:50Speaker 3: Well I don't know much about Bulba. I've never driven
- 50:52Speaker 3: a Volvo, but what I've heard from people that own Vobo,
- 50:55Speaker 3: once you buy Volvo, you never buy anything else.
- 50:58Speaker 1: I do know that Rolls Royce is just put out
- 51:00Speaker 1: a phantom. Oh that's that's an electric Okay, Andy, I'm
- 51:04Speaker 1: not gonna sell my bitcoin, Okay, I mean you can
- 51:08Speaker 1: do it for five hundred grand.
- 51:09Speaker 3: You know, well, I'd had to sell some big I'd
- 51:11Speaker 3: have to sell a little bit of bigcoin for that.
- 51:13Speaker 1: All right, Well, listen, we got to take another quick break.
- 51:15Speaker 1: We come back with more of tech Talk Radio.
- 51:17Speaker 3: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm Justin Lemy.
- 51:20Speaker 3: You can also find us on Facebook at facebook dot
- 51:22Speaker 3: com for it slash tech Talkers.
- 51:23Speaker 1: We'll be right back and now back to tech talk Radio.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Hey, this is Deetrich Bader for Batman, and you're listening
- 51:29Speaker 2: to TikTok Radio.
- 51:30Speaker 1: So I'm wondering, did you guys play Fortnite at all.
- 51:34Speaker 2: I've probably played two minutes worth of Fortnite.
- 51:36Speaker 3: I probably played about twenty hours total.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Fortnite was kind of geared at maybe a younger
- 51:41Speaker 1: set of gamer. Well, Epic Games who put that out,
- 51:44Speaker 1: you know that there was some They said that there
- 51:46Speaker 1: was some stuff going on where people were kind of
- 51:49Speaker 1: forced into our coerced into buying loot and they didn't
- 51:54Speaker 1: have to to be able to play the game. So
- 51:57Speaker 1: there was a big lawsuit and we're talking a lot
- 51:59Speaker 1: of money. And yeah, the Federal Trade Commission and their
- 52:03Speaker 1: settlement with Epic Games, those payouts are coming now. The
- 52:07Speaker 1: thing is, I wanted to make sure we mentioned this
- 52:09Speaker 1: because there's still time to claim if maybe this happened
- 52:12Speaker 1: to you. You were charged for in game currency or
- 52:16Speaker 1: items you didn't intend to or buy between January twenty
- 52:19Speaker 1: seventeen and September twenty twenty two, your child and I
- 52:23Speaker 1: know this has been the case for some of you
- 52:24Speaker 1: made unauthorized charges on your credit card between January twenty
- 52:28Speaker 1: seventeen and November twenty eighteen, or your Fortnite account was
- 52:33Speaker 1: locked after you disputed charges to your credit card company
- 52:36Speaker 1: during the period from twenty seventeen of January to September
- 52:40Speaker 1: of twenty twenty two, the deadline. Yeah, and we're talking.
- 52:44Speaker 1: I mean, they're saying could be some good money for people.
- 52:47Speaker 3: This sucks because Eric just started playing Fortnite. I'm thinking, well, hey,
- 52:50Speaker 3: I can get my money back.
- 52:51Speaker 1: But no, now you have to be eighteen years or
- 52:54Speaker 1: older to submit your claim. The deadline I want. This
- 52:57Speaker 1: is why I wanted to mention it is January ten
- 53:00Speaker 1: of next year, which is not that far away. You
- 53:03Speaker 1: go to the FTC's official refund page for Fortnite refunds.
- 53:07Speaker 1: You can find it at FTC dot gov and they'll
- 53:11Speaker 1: go ahead and take care of that. So yeah, just
- 53:14Speaker 1: a little something.
- 53:15Speaker 3: Well, I mean, the thing is is it's not just
- 53:17Speaker 3: it's not just Fortnite. I mean Roadblocks does this. Minecraft
- 53:20Speaker 3: does it to a certain extent, but not nearly as
- 53:23Speaker 3: bad as Roadblocks and Fortnite. But yeah, I mean they
- 53:28Speaker 3: they entice children to make these purchases because I mean constantly,
- 53:32Speaker 3: Eric is always begging me, a dad, dad, dad, I
- 53:35Speaker 3: need five dollars for this roblock skin. No, no, the
- 53:39Speaker 3: heck you don't because it doesn't do anything for you.
- 53:42Speaker 3: And I'm not gonna buy a five dollars skin for
- 53:45Speaker 3: one single game inside of Roadblocks. It's not Roadblocks as
- 53:49Speaker 3: a whole. It's one game inside of Roadblocks that you
- 53:54Speaker 3: are gonna play for the next seventy two hours, and
- 53:56Speaker 3: then you're gonna move on to the next game, and
- 53:58Speaker 3: you're gonna want another five dollars and another five dollars.
- 54:02Speaker 3: This is predatory in my opinion, and Roadblocks not even
- 54:05Speaker 3: don't even get me started on Roadblocks. I just told
- 54:07Speaker 3: Eric today he's no longer allowed to play with Role.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Well. One thing is remember your smartphones. If the game
- 54:12Speaker 1: is free and there's loot crates, you're probably that's how
- 54:16Speaker 1: they're gonna That's how they're gonna pay for it.
- 54:18Speaker 3: So again it's the old adage. If you're not paying
- 54:19Speaker 3: for it, you are the product. I blame candy Crush
- 54:23Speaker 3: that's started at all, I blame I blame Salesforce.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Salesforce, what is that? Yeah, they started the whole software
- 54:30Speaker 1: as a service. Did they all these subscription models?
- 54:32Speaker 3: Yeah? I watched a great YouTube video on it. Maybe
- 54:34Speaker 3: we'll link it on the blog. It was a great
- 54:36Speaker 3: video about how Salesforce started this whole thing with Netflix
- 54:39Speaker 3: and all this other streaming and software as a service
- 54:42Speaker 3: with the HP Inc. Cartridges and all this. Oh yeah,
- 54:44Speaker 3: Salesforce was the one behind it, and I think they
- 54:47Speaker 3: really honestly had a hand in the whole thing. With
- 54:49Speaker 3: the micro transactions on video games, I'm so.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Bad at Candy Crush Too and Clash of Clients. Ohts,
- 54:55Speaker 1: I spent like two thousand dollars in that game. All Right,
- 54:58Speaker 1: we gonna that's it for this. Thank you so much
- 55:01Speaker 1: for tuning in. You can find more subscribe to us
