- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:05Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:12Speaker 2: And by the way, for those I work with every
- 0:14Speaker 2: day in the morning, Neil and Cono and Amy and
- 0:18Speaker 2: Will and of course and god, I hate you guys too.
- 0:23Speaker 2: You know it's not that complicated.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Here's Bill Handle it say. Monday morning, August twenty fourth,
- 0:36Speaker 2: Good morning, everybody hot one today? Man, it's going to
- 0:39Speaker 2: be hot. Not a Schwitz, but very high. So I
- 0:45Speaker 2: have that right, Amy, you do.
- 0:46Speaker 3: It was ninety seven in downtown LA yesterday, oh man,
- 0:51Speaker 3: over one hundred in the valleys. And that's expected to
- 0:53Speaker 3: continue today. Could actually it's going to continue all week.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we're used to this.
- 1:02Speaker 3: When I moved here exactly eighteen years ago, the first
- 1:05Speaker 3: week I was here, it was like over one hundred
- 1:09Speaker 3: and ten every day for at least the first week.
- 1:12Speaker 3: So it's not unusual. For all.
- 1:14Speaker 2: We always knowing somewhere we often get stuff like this.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I mean, if you look what's happening in Midwest, what's
- 1:19Speaker 2: having on the East coast with the storms and tornadoes
- 1:23Speaker 2: and the flooding, I mean, it is crazy making. I
- 1:26Speaker 2: mean there are places in the East Coast and seaboard
- 1:30Speaker 2: that is getting two three feet of rain. Can you
- 1:33Speaker 2: imagine you're no longer dealing with inches? Hey, today's going
- 1:37Speaker 2: to be a foot and a half of rain. Just
- 1:39Speaker 2: what do you do? How do you deal with that? Well,
- 1:41Speaker 2: you float away, you drown, and your house rots, and
- 1:45Speaker 2: you want to move to southern California. I guess I wonderful.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I have to look at that what our population is,
- 1:53Speaker 2: if it's growing dramatically, because moving into southern California particularly
- 1:57Speaker 2: is just it's well, I mean, you've got to have
- 1:59Speaker 2: some really healthy money to do that, or be illegal
- 2:02Speaker 2: and just live the life of someone who lives like cash.
- 2:07Speaker 2: All right, Sony, anyway, good morning Amy, Neil. You've changed
- 2:13Speaker 2: up your goatee this morning. No, I changed it for
- 2:16Speaker 2: your party. Actually, ah, the white.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Was creeping out from my masks, so I died it
- 2:24Speaker 4: black again, and then I thought I haven't gone my
- 2:28Speaker 4: natural color for a long time.
- 2:30Speaker 2: You know, we have to put up a picture of
- 2:32Speaker 2: what Neil did for We had a costume party and
- 2:36Speaker 2: heroes and superheroes.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Everybody did a great job.
- 2:39Speaker 2: It was Yeah, Lindsay has these themed parties all the time,
- 2:44Speaker 2: all the time, the second go round, and if you
- 2:46Speaker 2: do not dress in costume, you are not allowed in.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I mean it's that's an iron clad rule. So everybody
- 2:54Speaker 2: has to show up in costume. And Neil made his costume.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I mean, if you.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Look the mask, everything was weathered by me, but all
- 3:04Speaker 4: the parts were bought separately.
- 3:07Speaker 2: But you put him down all together.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Yes, you made the costume war buck teeth and had
- 3:13Speaker 4: a foot and a half high wig.
- 3:17Speaker 2: That's true. You have to look at yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 4: And we learned to walk.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 3: And you should mention that that Neil was Bane from
- 3:26Speaker 3: Batman and he walked in the mask. It was so
- 3:30Speaker 3: it was so spectacular, Neil, I mean like like you're
- 3:32Speaker 3: like there was. If there's this costume contest, he's winning
- 3:35Speaker 3: hands down.
- 3:37Speaker 4: I thought you guys coming as the Sanderson sisters was terrific.
- 3:41Speaker 2: That's true. You know, Whil's looked good Will who came
- 3:43Speaker 2: in as a michelin Man, I thought he looked terrific.
- 3:47Speaker 4: No, I was Buddy, the elf, buddy.
- 3:50Speaker 3: The alpha hero.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Oh hero, it wasn't the michelin Man. I'm sorry I misunderstood.
- 3:59Speaker 4: And of course you were too. Jew.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I was super Jew. We have we have photos of
- 4:03Speaker 2: that all over the place.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Of course, have you posted your photos?
- 4:07Speaker 2: I have not because I don't I don't even know
- 4:09Speaker 2: how to post.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Lindsay will send them to me.
- 4:12Speaker 2: She posts for me, and Neil posts for me, and uh,
- 4:15Speaker 2: I think it. Michelle occasionally posts for me, but I
- 4:17Speaker 2: don't know. If anybody would not know how to, I
- 4:19Speaker 2: would not know how.
- 4:20Speaker 4: To post of us have the accessibility to it anymore.
- 4:25Speaker 2: So who has the accessibility? Now?
- 4:27Speaker 4: I think your wife does and that's it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: We have to we have to spread that one around then, Uh,
- 4:34Speaker 2: we have to spread that around.
- 4:37Speaker 4: H Okay, I.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Don't deal with it, you know, I don't have You
- 4:42Speaker 2: can't reach me via email at the at the station
- 4:46Speaker 2: I get I'm told that there are emails from management
- 4:50Speaker 2: all the time and they go, why didn't she show
- 4:52Speaker 2: up ago? Because I didn't get it.
- 4:54Speaker 4: If I email you, Lindsay responds. If I text you,
- 4:58Speaker 4: Lindsay responds, and why is it smokes signals? Lindsay response,
- 5:02Speaker 4: That is correct, That is correct.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, there's ann good morning done.
- 5:09Speaker 3: You know some people want as Adam and Eve.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Oh yes they did, and that wasn't until after the party,
- 5:16Speaker 2: after the Yeah, there were people. There were a few
- 5:19Speaker 2: people that jumped in. They did not bring their swimsuits.
- 5:23Speaker 2: And let me put it this way, they they had
- 5:25Speaker 2: a hit or two at the bar. I don't think
- 5:29Speaker 2: there's anybody that jumped in there with their clothes off,
- 5:32Speaker 2: son's clothing without having a couple of drinks.
- 5:36Speaker 4: I got a couple of strange requests. Oh, and I
- 5:39Speaker 4: went home to my wife. Oh I love her.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Okay, what is that to do with your strange request?
- 5:46Speaker 2: Never mind, I'm not going to go there. And Kno,
- 5:48Speaker 2: Cono came as Cono. Oh no, he didn't come as Cono.
- 5:54Speaker 2: That was his costume.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Pardon, how old are you guys?
- 5:59Speaker 2: Hold middle of the year?
- 6:01Speaker 4: Oh my god. I kept telling him, is not a hero.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Let's all dress up and we're old. Sounds great? Wow?
- 6:10Speaker 4: Wow time? Did you dress up every day trying to
- 6:15Speaker 4: look hard in your hood?
- 6:17Speaker 2: All right? All right, I think I've said hello on everybody,
- 6:20Speaker 2: haven't I. We've gone through it.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I does want to hang out with us, I want
- 6:25Speaker 3: to hang out with you.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 6:28Speaker 3: You know, if you should have just said you win,
- 6:30Speaker 3: it's the invisible man.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I would have worked too, with the invisible hoodie. And
- 6:35Speaker 2: the invisible hat. All right, guys, let's do it. We
- 6:38Speaker 2: have plenty to cover. Of course, We've got some Washington news,
- 6:42Speaker 2: we have some weather news. Today is very important day
- 6:47Speaker 2: in international affairs. It's the second D Day that has
- 6:51Speaker 2: hit us in the last hundred years. As a matter
- 6:53Speaker 2: of fact, that is our lead story. It's the economic
- 7:01Speaker 2: D Day. Sanctions against I Run are being unleashed, and
- 7:05Speaker 2: according to Treasury Secretary of Scott Bissent, it is quote
- 7:08Speaker 2: the single greatest financial offensive ever marshaled against an adversary,
- 7:15Speaker 2: even more than Japan, where we went to war and
- 7:19Speaker 2: shut off everything they were bringing in. Yep, this is
- 7:24Speaker 2: much much more powerful, I know. Yeah, And the US
- 7:30Speaker 2: would collapse the regime with the toughest sanctions in history,
- 7:33Speaker 2: according to Scott Descent. And it turned out. And I
- 7:37Speaker 2: love this because all of Trump's allies are saying, yes,
- 7:42Speaker 2: this is the answer, Yes, this is what we're going
- 7:44Speaker 2: to do it. Yes we're going to collapse the regime.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yes we're going to win this war. How about all
- 7:49Speaker 2: of the claims in the last six months that the
- 7:51Speaker 2: war is over, the war is over complete deflection. Up
- 7:55Speaker 2: to this point, there has not been a war in
- 8:00Speaker 2: terms of the Trump administration. It is now that it's starting. Now,
- 8:05Speaker 2: we'll see what happens if your audience cave not. At
- 8:07Speaker 2: the same time, we're dealing with sanctions against Canada, things
- 8:12Speaker 2: that are getting a little hairy. Inflation on our side,
- 8:16Speaker 2: it's getting a little strange. I'll do more about the
- 8:19Speaker 2: economic d day coming up at seven o'clock.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Okay, go Now, that is the word for more than
- 8:27Speaker 3: forty thousand people as a wildfire spreads close to Reno.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Nearly ninety thousand are now either under a warning or
- 8:37Speaker 3: an order. The forty two thousand have been ordered to
- 8:40Speaker 3: leave immediately. The fire was first reported on Saturday morning.
- 8:45Speaker 3: So far six people have been injured, and the weather
- 8:48Speaker 3: conditions are windy and unpredictable, and it's burning through rough,
- 8:52Speaker 3: rugged terrain and zero percent surround it. At this point,
- 8:56Speaker 3: it's grown to check watch to do this morning. It's
- 8:58Speaker 3: about fifteen thousand acres.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Amy, do you remember when you'd report the news that
- 9:04Speaker 2: five or six buildings were destroyed by fire, and that
- 9:09Speaker 2: was big news during the course of a wildfire. I
- 9:13Speaker 2: mean it was well five homes destroyed. After the six
- 9:18Speaker 2: thousand homes and Pacific Palis aes and then went up
- 9:20Speaker 2: in what was it in the Bay Area where three
- 9:23Speaker 2: thousand homes were destroyed? What is the number before it
- 9:27Speaker 2: becomes cataclysmic? Now would it be in the thousands?
- 9:35Speaker 3: Well, we're hoping that this was does not turn into account.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Well, of course, of course not. But that's my point
- 9:40Speaker 2: is things have changed so dramatically in terms of fire season,
- 9:44Speaker 2: which is no longer fire season, as you know.
- 9:47Speaker 3: The other just note is they've said that this fire
- 9:51Speaker 3: was in fact human caused, as many are, but they
- 9:56Speaker 3: haven't said what it was if like somebody was setting
- 9:58Speaker 3: the fires or just accidentally I started it.
- 10:03Speaker 4: You want one more? Yeah, alrighty more economic news and coercion.
- 10:10Speaker 4: You've got Mark Carney drawing attention, international attention because as
- 10:17Speaker 4: Canada's Prime minister, he's pushing back on the big guns.
- 10:22Speaker 4: He's pushing back on US as Trump and his administration
- 10:26Speaker 4: keep pushing. Apparently they have Canada being they walked away
- 10:31Speaker 4: from the negotiations and that Carney said that the US
- 10:36Speaker 4: is just demanding too damn much in exchange for terror
- 10:39Speaker 4: f relief, and they said dollar for dollar they're going
- 10:43Speaker 4: to hit back to America. And this is you know,
- 10:47Speaker 4: once someone starts pushing back. Everybody's watching how these things
- 10:52Speaker 4: are going down, and with Canada pushing back, well.
- 10:56Speaker 2: A couple of things about Canada is our biggest trading partner.
- 10:59Speaker 2: That's first orders. Second of all, this deal was cut.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Do you remember I told you hours before the tariffs
- 11:07Speaker 2: were to kick in, Canada and the United States both
- 11:11Speaker 2: announced that and I'm talking about was supposed to kick
- 11:14Speaker 2: in at midnight, and it's happened just a few hours
- 11:16Speaker 2: before that. Okay, we got a deal, we have a deal,
- 11:19Speaker 2: and now we're being told I mean the tariffs have
- 11:23Speaker 2: kicked in, or actually they kick in I think September eighth,
- 11:26Speaker 2: that the deal was never really consummated, and so there
- 11:31Speaker 2: they go. Fifty percent duties on Canadian goods. The one
- 11:34Speaker 2: that's really good, I think the most one that's going
- 11:37Speaker 2: to hurt the most is the fifty percent duty on
- 11:41Speaker 2: hockey sticks that are coming in the United States' that's
- 11:46Speaker 2: the big one. There are a few hockey players out
- 11:48Speaker 2: there that are pretty upset.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Lumber is probably kind of thing that hits.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Lumber is, yeah, and not just toothpicks, which, by
- 11:55Speaker 2: the way, is one of the items we have to.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Get our toothpicks from Canada.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah, we get a lot of our toothpicks from Canada.
- 12:03Speaker 4: We get tons of about our I thought they were American,
- 12:07Speaker 4: damn it.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Yeah Americans.
- 12:08Speaker 4: I'm only going to pick with American.
- 12:10Speaker 2: No, no foreign item is going to pass my lips.
- 12:14Speaker 2: And then there's a I could do a whole thing
- 12:16Speaker 2: on that, but we're out of time.
- 12:18Speaker 3: No doxing allowed. Governor Newsom has signed legislation allowing workers
- 12:22Speaker 3: and volunteers at organizations that aid immigrants to shield home
- 12:27Speaker 3: addresses from public records. It makes it illegal to post
- 12:30Speaker 3: personal information online with the intent to incent violence. It's
- 12:34Speaker 3: Assembly Bill twenty six, twenty four. Assembly Member Mia Bonta
- 12:39Speaker 3: from Alameda says it's fundamentally about freedom, the freedom from
- 12:43Speaker 3: fear that lets our immigrant service providers do their jobs,
- 12:47Speaker 3: and the freedom of the press to do their jobs
- 12:49Speaker 3: without being conflated with the doxing this bill actually targets.
- 12:54Speaker 3: It's also called the Stop Nick Shirley Act. He was
- 12:57Speaker 3: the independent journalist who exposed billions of dollars in fraud
- 13:02Speaker 3: in Minnesota and then also down here in California.
- 13:06Speaker 4: What are gonna have to do with doxing?
- 13:09Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know if it's because Nick
- 13:12Speaker 3: surely is he doxed? Was he or was he doxing
- 13:16Speaker 3: the people who were committing the fraud they happen to
- 13:18Speaker 3: be immigrants?
- 13:19Speaker 2: Oh no, And usually when you talk about proving intent,
- 13:23Speaker 2: it's almost impossible to prove intent, except in cases like this.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Why else would you post the home address, the phone
- 13:33Speaker 2: number of someone working in an immigration facility other.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Than just make doxing illegal across the board?
- 13:39Speaker 2: Well, that means you're not going to be able to
- 13:41Speaker 2: put information up. And uh, well, I mean that means
- 13:44Speaker 2: this is just about immigrants. This is just about immigrants.
- 13:46Speaker 2: And what about cops? Cops? I think it's I think
- 13:50Speaker 2: it's I think it is illegal to put cops personal
- 13:53Speaker 2: information up. I think there are rules specifying that cops
- 13:56Speaker 2: names are protected, but certainly not mine, certainly not yours.
- 14:00Speaker 4: It seems odd, Yeah, to go after one particular group.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Well, no, it's not all if you are anti immigration.
- 14:09Speaker 2: If you are, you're talking about the law thing you
- 14:11Speaker 2: think you're talking about the law going after one group
- 14:14Speaker 2: or a group of people going.
- 14:15Speaker 4: After one group. I'm just saying that why not do that?
- 14:17Speaker 4: For temples? Are are you know, uh, targeting.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Understand y understand energy people. Yeah, I think that makes sense,
- 14:28Speaker 2: that makes sense. I'll tell you the right to privacy
- 14:30Speaker 2: folks are sure, say that and then you have the
- 14:33Speaker 2: First Amendment people, Oh no, no, we have the right
- 14:35Speaker 2: to put up on the internet. I have the right
- 14:37Speaker 2: to know. I know you don't.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Nobody's giving out somebody's private address for good reasons like that.
- 14:45Speaker 4: It's doxing by definition is to create fear in the
- 14:50Speaker 4: person whose home is listed. Period.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Good point.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Moving on, all right, California teen. This is sad, but
- 15:03Speaker 4: it's a kind of a strange story. You got Independence
- 15:06Speaker 4: High School. They're about to do kickoff for its football
- 15:09Speaker 4: season against Kern County rival Centennial High. But this game
- 15:15Speaker 4: night that was supposed to be the kickoff turned into
- 15:18Speaker 4: tragedy as some sort of gang related shooting claimed the
- 15:21Speaker 4: life of his seventeen year old student athlete, Levi Brown.
- 15:25Speaker 4: It happened inside the stadium at about eight o'clock. But
- 15:29Speaker 4: the weird thing is, as of right now, it's unclear
- 15:33Speaker 4: as to what school Brown attended. They said he was
- 15:37Speaker 4: not He did not attend Independence High and so they
- 15:43Speaker 4: don't know what school he was from. Or what caused
- 15:46Speaker 4: it all. But the poor seventeen year old kids dead.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Yeah, we're a motive.
- 15:51Speaker 3: At this point, more people are flocking away from flock
- 15:59Speaker 3: so automated license plate readers known as FLOCK cameras being
- 16:03Speaker 3: used by law enforcement in dozens of states to record
- 16:06Speaker 3: vehicle data that can help them in criminal investigations, but
- 16:11Speaker 3: residents are raising concerns about privacy and potential misuse by
- 16:16Speaker 3: law enforcement. LAPD has stopped using flock cameras and others
- 16:20Speaker 3: are looking at I think Pasadena is looking at stopping
- 16:22Speaker 3: it too. But the pushback has reached Capitol Hill, where
- 16:24Speaker 3: Senator Sanders Bernie Sanders proposed banning the technology outright, and
- 16:30Speaker 3: Representative Tim Burchet from Tennessee has pushed to cut federal
- 16:34Speaker 3: funding for local installations. The FLOCK Safety CEO, Garrett Langley,
- 16:40Speaker 3: argued the technology is vital for safety and called for compromise.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I wonder, Bernie Sanders is his house was burglarized
- 16:48Speaker 2: and his possessions taken. I'm talking about his possessions that
- 16:52Speaker 2: have been with him lifetime. All of a sudden are
- 16:55Speaker 2: taken and the bad guy is going down the street,
- 16:58Speaker 2: and a camera would have caught the license plates and
- 17:01Speaker 2: they would have known who it was or which car
- 17:04Speaker 2: was involved, but were turned off because Bernie Sanders prevailed
- 17:08Speaker 2: on that you can misuse anything. Oh, how about helicopters
- 17:12Speaker 2: flying overhead? That you can misuse those because they're taking
- 17:17Speaker 2: their light and shining into the wrong people. How about
- 17:19Speaker 2: police cars in general, Boy, those are misused because they
- 17:22Speaker 2: got super speed. Certainly, guns are misused. Out of the question.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Can't have guns anymore? It's where do you go? Yes,
- 17:31Speaker 2: it can be misused. But yeah, this is technology that
- 17:35Speaker 2: calls bad guys. I'll tell you the one that really
- 17:37Speaker 2: pisses me off, and I'll bet you it's almost universal.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Those red light cameras. They are misused. By definition, having
- 17:47Speaker 2: a red light camera is a misuse of the cameras.
- 17:52Speaker 4: I've never heard of children and their family being killed
- 17:58Speaker 4: by a red light camera, but I have heard about
- 18:01Speaker 4: people running red lights that have killed family.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Well said too. That's two good ones today, Neil.
- 18:07Speaker 4: I do what I can. I'm on a Bain streak.
- 18:10Speaker 4: A disturbing pattern is coming from the US Armies Apache helicopters.
- 18:15Speaker 4: They seem to be crashing at historically high rates, So
- 18:21Speaker 4: I guess they're having these widespread problems with this particular
- 18:25Speaker 4: model's transmission, and they were looking over the stats, and
- 18:31Speaker 4: you've got this helicopter type experiencing five major crashes since
- 18:36Speaker 4: last October, and a deadly mishap just earlier this month
- 18:41Speaker 4: in Texas that killed two soldiers and started that wildfire,
- 18:45Speaker 4: if you remember. But the Army is temporarily barring Apache
- 18:49Speaker 4: pilots from conducting these routine training flights with that crash
- 18:55Speaker 4: and everything going on. Now, they're saying the fiscal six
- 19:00Speaker 4: year is on pace to be the second worst for
- 19:03Speaker 4: a patching white accidents since the new model Age sixty
- 19:07Speaker 4: four was rolled out in twenty eleven.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah, the apatchy is the most modern, the deadliest of
- 19:14Speaker 2: the attack helicopters out there. It looks vicious, It has
- 19:18Speaker 2: these oh yeah, this thing. Just looking at it, you
- 19:21Speaker 2: don't want to get in his way.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Doctor Oz is at odds with the big guy. Doctor
- 19:28Speaker 3: Oz was pressed during an interview on Face the Nation
- 19:34Speaker 3: with Margaret Brennan about President Trump's comments earlier when he
- 19:39Speaker 3: said that the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps,
- 19:43Speaker 3: and rebella, was quite lethal. So Brennan pressed oz on it.
- 19:49Speaker 3: When she asked him about it, he kind of he
- 19:51Speaker 3: didn't answer it, and then he did go on to
- 19:55Speaker 3: say the MMR vaccine is not a lethal vaccine and
- 20:01Speaker 3: argued that the issue is still about parental.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Rights except if you want to go to school. If
- 20:08Speaker 2: you want your kid to go to school, either public
- 20:11Speaker 2: and or private school, you don't get the MMR vaccine
- 20:13Speaker 2: before starting school. Guess what, kid's not.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Going to school.
- 20:17Speaker 2: So it is not very you know, there was not
- 20:21Speaker 2: controversy about this until the Trump administration came in, until
- 20:25Speaker 2: Robert F. Kennedy started with his complete craziness and the
- 20:29Speaker 2: president now saying that he's okay with a vaccine but
- 20:33Speaker 2: spread over the course of months or years because for
- 20:37Speaker 2: some reason it is safer if they're three different shots
- 20:40Speaker 2: are being administered and there is zero proof. Why didn't
- 20:44Speaker 2: you say four shots. Why didn't he say we'll take
- 20:47Speaker 2: it a dozen shots, we'll take a single shot, we'll
- 20:50Speaker 2: split it up into five different ways, and you do three,
- 20:53Speaker 2: So I was fifteen shots. Why not let's make stuff up.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Well, Internet brings crazy people together. Jury duty scam going
- 21:04Speaker 4: around right now, and you know, when you get nailed
- 21:08Speaker 4: or you get in that loop and you keep getting
- 21:10Speaker 4: asked to come out. I know that it a lot
- 21:13Speaker 4: of people freak out about it. But the Los Angeles
- 21:15Speaker 4: County residents are now being warned that the court officials
- 21:20Speaker 4: are urging you know, hey, we do not call you,
- 21:22Speaker 4: because people are getting calls saying that they failed to
- 21:26Speaker 4: report for jury duty and they have outstanding warrant and
- 21:31Speaker 4: usually there's fees because if you remember, people weren't going
- 21:34Speaker 4: bill years and years ago, and so they instilled that
- 21:38Speaker 4: penalty of one thousand dollars if you don't participate in
- 21:44Speaker 4: jury duty, and so these scams are kind of taking
- 21:47Speaker 4: advantage of the ignorance of people.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and the court only sends out first first class mail.
- 21:53Speaker 2: That's it. I get these questions all the time on
- 21:57Speaker 2: handle on the law. I've been notified for jury duty.
- 22:00Speaker 2: I don't want to go. What if I don't go?
- 22:02Speaker 2: Will I get arrested? Will they throw me in jail?
- 22:06Speaker 2: And I said, yeah, there's a pretty good time. You're
- 22:08Speaker 2: going to see some jail time. He goes, oh really,
- 22:10Speaker 2: And I said, by the way, are you gay? Well
- 22:15Speaker 2: you will be okay? Moving on. That's why the show
- 22:20Speaker 2: does so well. You know that That's why it's an
- 22:22Speaker 2: award winning show because of the phenomenally deep, vast legal
- 22:26Speaker 2: advice that is produced. By the way, the scam. If
- 22:31Speaker 2: you get an email, do not do not. If you
- 22:33Speaker 2: get a text, do not, do not respond. Same thing
- 22:37Speaker 2: with the irs. They do it by mail, they do
- 22:41Speaker 2: not do it by text or phone call.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Finding common ground Preparing for the future. House Democratic Leader
- 22:53Speaker 3: Hakim Jeffries and President Trump's some in law and the negotiator,
- 22:58Speaker 3: Jared Kushner, has met private or have met privately in
- 23:02Speaker 3: New York. They talked about several things, apparently including housing, immigration,
- 23:07Speaker 3: and the high cost of living. Kushner suggested that Jeffries,
- 23:11Speaker 3: who could become the next House Speaker if the Democrats
- 23:14Speaker 3: are gained power in the midterms, should meet with White
- 23:17Speaker 3: House Chief of Staff Susie Wilds as a follow up.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Yeah, all of a sudden, the Trump administration Jared Kushner,
- 23:25Speaker 2: who is a senior senior senior advisor to the President,
- 23:29Speaker 2: having married his daughter and is in his thirties, incidantly
- 23:33Speaker 2: and now also I think a billionaire due to his
- 23:35Speaker 2: real estate holdings, all of a sudden, the Trump administration
- 23:39Speaker 2: is saying, whoops, you know what we may lose control
- 23:43Speaker 2: of Congress on this one, and so for the first
- 23:46Speaker 2: time they're sitting down and going, Okay, let's figure out
- 23:49Speaker 2: how we're going to work together. This is I think
- 23:51Speaker 2: the last or one of the last points to sort
- 23:55Speaker 2: of prove the point that the Republicans are sweating bullets
- 23:59Speaker 2: on this one, as they should be in terms of
- 24:02Speaker 2: changing the House over to a Republican to a Democratic
- 24:08Speaker 2: dominated house.
- 24:10Speaker 4: You have an American Airline flight that thankfully landed safely
- 24:15Speaker 4: in Dallas after someone on board had a laptop battery
- 24:19Speaker 4: catch fire. So one of the passengers had this. It
- 24:23Speaker 4: was American Airlines Flight twenty three ninety eight approaching Dallas
- 24:27Speaker 4: Fort Worth International Airport and the crew reported this laptop
- 24:32Speaker 4: battery fire and then they know they have to report
- 24:35Speaker 4: to the FAA. Flight attendants contained the fire in what
- 24:38Speaker 4: they call a thermal containment bag, and yeah, they had
- 24:44Speaker 4: to The device was apparently smoking as they landed and
- 24:48Speaker 4: all of this, but they had to land.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Hey, cono, don't they have a song hot balls? He's
- 24:52Speaker 2: got hot balls?
- 24:55Speaker 1: I don't know that one.
- 24:56Speaker 2: You don't know that one?
- 24:57Speaker 4: Wow?
- 24:59Speaker 2: No, for some reason, I remember that song.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Nope, Nope, yeah.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Oh, there should be a song called hot balls. He's
- 25:09Speaker 2: got hot balls, Okay, oysters, Yes, moving on, moving on.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Former Deputy dead Sean Grayson was an Illinois Sheriff's deputy.
- 25:23Speaker 3: You'll probably remember this case. Sonia Massey was shot inside
- 25:29Speaker 3: her home and it became a flashpoint over police use
- 25:31Speaker 3: of force. But Grayson died Sunday in prison serving a
- 25:37Speaker 3: twenty year sentence. Apparently he had been diagnosed with colon
- 25:42Speaker 3: cancer before the killing happened, and then they did try
- 25:46Speaker 3: to get him a compassionate release from prison and that
- 25:49Speaker 3: was denied. But he was convicted of second degree murder
- 25:53Speaker 3: in the shooting of Massey, who was a thirty six
- 25:56Speaker 3: year old black woman. She'd reported a possible prowler outside
- 25:59Speaker 3: her home and when they went inside, she ended up
- 26:03Speaker 3: getting shot in the face. He said that he was
- 26:06Speaker 3: worried that she was threatening him, but.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and we saw the video. I mean the video
- 26:10Speaker 2: was there body cam, and there was zero threat. He
- 26:15Speaker 2: told her put down the pot. Put down the pot.
- 26:17Speaker 2: She was holding this pot of boiling water, and she
- 26:20Speaker 2: says something religious, did not put down the pot, made
- 26:23Speaker 2: no attempt to throw the water at him. She was
- 26:25Speaker 2: on the other side of this kitchen counter and he
- 26:28Speaker 2: just shot her, which appeared to be for no reason whatsoever.
- 26:32Speaker 2: And the reason he got second degree is that a
- 26:34Speaker 2: first degree murder is the jury bought that he was
- 26:38Speaker 2: genuinely afraid that the water would be thrown at him,
- 26:44Speaker 2: which usually is a pretty good defense as far as
- 26:48Speaker 2: a police officer being afraid. It's because the jury law
- 26:52Speaker 2: puts the fear and was it reasonable fear the cop had.
- 26:57Speaker 2: The point is this, he may have had that fear,
- 27:00Speaker 2: but it was not reasonable fear. That's why he got nailed.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Sometimes they're just it just ain't reasonable.
- 27:10Speaker 4: This is a strange story, and I'm not sure why
- 27:14Speaker 4: we would be doing this. The New York Times went
- 27:18Speaker 4: through some government records and found that over the country
- 27:24Speaker 4: of bureau that you know, all over the country, the
- 27:27Speaker 4: Bureau of Land Management. Apparently this is the agency in
- 27:30Speaker 4: charge of protecting, you know, some wildlife and particularly in
- 27:34Speaker 4: this case, wild horses, that they've quietly been selling thousands
- 27:39Speaker 4: of horses to buyers, like one particular group in Ohio,
- 27:44Speaker 4: that are now looking like maybe they are buying them
- 27:51Speaker 4: and then.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Slaughtering them.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't like what is invasive animals things like that,
- 27:59Speaker 4: so times like on, you know they have to I
- 28:03Speaker 4: don't think I don't think that. What with these cause
- 28:07Speaker 4: and why would you want to buy them and water them?
- 28:09Speaker 2: Well, okay, cono. There is a song called wild Horses,
- 28:15Speaker 2: wild Horses, we eat wild horses.
- 28:18Speaker 4: I don't think it says we eat.
- 28:20Speaker 2: That isn't part of it.
- 28:21Speaker 4: No, huh, neither are hot balls.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Uh wow? I mean you really questioning me about my
- 28:30Speaker 2: musical knowledge this morning. There is a song called wild Horses,
- 28:35Speaker 2: We Eat wild Horses.
- 28:36Speaker 4: No, I don't think that part.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Okay, let's move on.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Watch out way moo toaster shaped taxis that don't have
- 28:44Speaker 3: a driver, a steering wheel, a dashboard, or petals. I
- 28:48Speaker 3: started rolling around San Francisco and also they've been rolling
- 28:52Speaker 3: around Las Vegas. Now they're charging for rides. The vehicles
- 28:55Speaker 3: are called zooks. They are a new entrant into the
- 29:00Speaker 3: robo taxi market. They can drive in either direction. They
- 29:04Speaker 3: hold up to four passengers and you sit facing each other.
- 29:07Speaker 3: And like I said, there's no steering wheel, there's no pedals.
- 29:10Speaker 3: It's just a ride.
- 29:11Speaker 2: This is the future. This is the future, and this
- 29:14Speaker 2: is the safe future because as people bitch and complain.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Oh my god, there was an accident in Phoenix. Oh,
- 29:20Speaker 2: there was one of these Waymo vehicles that ran through
- 29:23Speaker 2: a red light or didn't stop when there was a
- 29:25Speaker 2: school bus lights flashing. Okay, those are reported once every
- 29:30Speaker 2: two weeks, for example, once every three weeks. Amy, How
- 29:34Speaker 2: many fatal crashes could you report on every day?
- 29:39Speaker 3: We could probably fill a newscast with it.
- 29:41Speaker 2: That is correct. So these are infinitely safer than any human.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Well most humans driving do they switch.
- 29:50Speaker 4: You out like toast when you get that year? They don't.
- 29:53Speaker 2: They don't they and they don't get drunk like Amy
- 29:57Speaker 2: did last night or saturd Was it last night? You're right,
- 30:02Speaker 2: I stand corrected. It was Saturday night. Amy was not
- 30:07Speaker 2: one of those people that at the end of the
- 30:10Speaker 2: party took off their clothes and jumped in naked, which
- 30:12Speaker 2: there were a.
- 30:13Speaker 4: Whole group of people that did that. Wow, I must
- 30:15Speaker 4: have just missed that.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you must have.
- 30:19Speaker 4: The people were let me guess they were none of
- 30:21Speaker 4: your friends.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Well, there was nobody there that was any of my friends, sir.
- 30:26Speaker 4: That's your wife throwed a birthday.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Play for you for her, and I don't know anybody there. Yes, Okay, guys,
- 30:34Speaker 2: we are done, completely finished. Today, D Day, Economic D Day,
- 30:41Speaker 2: and oh I have a question. What does D day
- 30:43Speaker 2: stand for? What does that the D part of D Day.
- 30:46Speaker 2: We're going to go around and you know, maybe do
- 30:49Speaker 2: that survey and explain what what is going on starting
- 30:52Speaker 2: two day with the war in Iran. This is KFI
- 30:57Speaker 2: A m sixteen to the Bill Handle Show. Catch my
- 31:01Speaker 2: show Monday through Friday, six am to nine am, and
