Welcome to Kickass Daily, where we bring news, trivia, fun
• 1:19
facts, and more just for curious kids like you.
• 1:22
Today we're going to learn all about one of the most exciting
• 1:26
soccer players in the world, Neymar Junior, and the amazing
• 1:30
records he set. Whether you call it soccer or
• 1:33
football, Neymar's name is 1. You'll hear a lot if you follow
• 1:36
the sport, so lace up your imaginary cleats and let's kick
• 1:41
off this episode. Neymar de Silva Santos Junior,
• 1:44
known to most people as Neymar Junior, was born in Brazil in
• 1:48
1992. Ever since he was a little kid,
• 1:52
Neymar loved playing soccer. Maybe like to play sports after
• 1:55
school or during recess. Imagine someone who loved soccer
• 1:59
so much that by the age of 17 he was already playing for the
• 2:03
professional team Santos FC in Brazil.
• 2:06
That's the same age as some high school students.
• 2:10
From the moment Neymar junior started playing as a pro, he
• 2:13
began breaking records. One of his earliest records was
• 2:16
scoring his very first professional goal at just 17.
• 2:21
In his first full season with Santos, Neymar scored fourteen
• 2:24
goals. That's like scoring a goal in
• 2:27
almost every other game. For a teenager, that was a big
• 2:31
deal in Brazil. As Neymar's career grew, so did
• 2:35
his list of achievements. In 2011, he helped Santos win
• 2:40
the Copa Libertadors. This is a very important soccer
• 2:43
tournament in South America, like the championship trophy for
• 2:47
clubs in that part of the world. The last time Santos had won
• 2:51
this trophy before Neymar was in 1963, which was over 50 years
• 2:56
ago. So Neymar helped bring a big win
• 2:58
back to his team after a really long time.
• 3:02
Did you know Neymar also became the youngest player to score 100
• 3:06
goals for Santos? He did this before he turned 20.
• 3:10
Scoring 100 goals is a huge milestone in soccer.
• 3:14
It's not just about kicking the ball into the net, but about
• 3:17
doing it so many times that you make history.
• 3:19
Now, here's a quick trivia question for you.
• 3:21
Do you know which country Neymar Junior moved to after playing
• 3:24
for Santos in Brazil? The answer is Spain.
• 3:31
Neymar joined the famous club FC Barcelona in 2013.
• 3:35
Neymar's time at Barcelona was full of records and trophies.
• 3:40
He joined 2 superstars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to form
• 3:44
one of the most powerful attacking groups in soccer
• 3:47
history. In his first season, Neymar
• 3:50
helped Barcelona win the Spanish League, the Spanish Cup and the
• 3:54
UEFA Champions League all in one year.
• 3:57
That's called a trouble, and not many teams have done it.
• 4:01
Neymar scored in the Champions League final in 2015, helping
• 4:05
his team win 3 to one against Juventus.
• 4:08
If you've ever played in a big final, you know how much
• 4:11
pressure there is. Scoring in such a big game is
• 4:14
something he'll always be remembered for.
• 4:17
Let's add another Did you know moment.
• 4:20
Did you know Neymar was the first Brazilian to score in two
• 4:23
  different UEFA Champions League finals?
• 4:26
That's a big achievement because the Champions League is one of
• 4:29
the hardest soccer tournaments in the world.
• 4:32
After a few successful years in Spain, Neymar broke another
• 4:36
gigantic record in 2017. He transferred from Barcelona to
• 4:41
Paris Saint Germain, also known as PSG in France.
• 4:46
This deal wasn't just any transfer.
• 4:48
It became the most expensive transfer in soccer history.
• 4:52
PSG paid €222 million for Neymar.
• 4:57
That's more than the cost of some airplanes.
• 5:00
To give you an idea, you could buy thousands of video game
• 5:03
consoles with that money. At PSG, Neymar continued to rack
• 5:07
up goals and awards. He helped the team win the
• 5:10
French league called League 1 multiple times.
• 5:14
He also LED PSG to their very first Champions League final in
• 5:18
2020. Even though PSG didn't win,
• 5:21
reaching the final was a record for the club and Neymar played a
• 5:25
key role in getting them there. Here's a yes or no question for
• 5:28
you. Do you think Neymar has ever
• 5:30
scored more than 30 goals in a single season for PSG?
• 5:37
The answer is yes. Neymar scored more than 30 goals
• 5:41
in the 2017 to 2018 season for PSG.
• 5:45
Neymar is not just a club superstar, he's also a hero for
• 5:49
the Brazil national team. He scored his first goal for
• 5:53
Brazil in 2010 when he was just 18.
• 5:56
Since then, Neymar has become one of the top goal scorers in
• 6:00
Brazil's history. In fact, by 2023, Neymar broke
• 6:05
the record for most goals scored for Brazil's men's team.
• 6:09
The previous record was held by Pele, who is considered one of
• 6:12
the greatest soccer players of all time.
• 6:15
Neymar passed Peleus record by scoring his 78th and 79th goals
• 6:20
for Brazil in September 2023. As of the end of 2025, Neymar is
• 6:26
the all time leading goal scorer for Brazil's men's team.
• 6:30
Here's a trivia question for you.
• 6:32
Can you guess which team Neymar scored his very first goal
• 6:35
  against? For Brazil's national, the
• 6:41
answer is the United States. Neymar scored his first
• 6:45
international goal in a game against the United States in
• 6:48
2010. Neymar has played in many World
• 6:51
Cup tournaments for Brazil. He represented Brazil in the
• 6:54
  2014, 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
• 7:00
In these tournaments, he scored important goals and helped
• 7:03
Brazil reach the semi finals in 2014 and the quarterfinals in
• 7:08
2018 and 2022. Even though Brazil didn't win
• 7:12
the World Cup while Neymar played, he still became one of
• 7:15
the top World Cup goal scorers for his country, scoring more
• 7:19
than eight goals in World Cup matches.
• 7:22
Let's take a moment for another yes or no question.
• 7:25
Has Neymar ever won an Olympic gold medal with Brazil?
• 7:32
The answer is yes. Neymar won the gold medal in
• 7:35
men's soccer at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
• 7:40
He even scored the winning penalty kick in the final
• 7:43
against Germany. That was Brazil's very first
• 7:46
Olympic gold medal in soccer. Neymar skills on the field are
• 7:50
not just about scoring goals. He's also known for his amazing
• 7:54
dribbling, quick feet, and clever passes.
• 7:58
Neymar has made more than 100 assists in his club career,
• 8:01
which means he's helped his team mates score over 100 times.
• 8:05
That's like being a team player and making sure everyone gets a
• 8:08
chance to shine. Did you know?
• 8:10
Neymar also holds the record for being the first player to score
• 8:13
in both the Coppola Labradors final and the UEFA Champions
• 8:17
League final. That means he's been a star in
• 8:19
both South America and Europe's biggest tournaments.
• 8:22
  Now here's another trivia question.
• 8:25
Do you know which club Neymar scored his most goals against
• 8:28
during his time at PSG? The answer is Dijon FCO, a team
• 8:36
in the French League 1. Neymar scored several goals
• 8:39
  against them in different matches.
• 8:41
Neymar has also won many individual awards.
• 8:45
He was named the South American Footballer of the Year twice, in
• 8:48
2011 and 2012. He's been included in the FIFA F
• 8:53
Pro World 11, which is a team made-up of the best players in
• 8:57
the world as chosen by other professional players, and he's
• 9:01
received the Golden Boot as top scorer in different tournaments.
• 9:05
Let's do one last yes or no question.
• 9:08
Is Neymar the only player to have scored in the finals of the
• 9:11
Copa du Brazil, Copa Labradors and UEFA Champions League?
• 9:18
The answer is yes. That's a unique record Neymar
• 9:22
holds. Let's recap what we've learned
• 9:25
about Neymar Junior's records. Neymar started his career at
• 9:28
Santos FC in Brazil, where he became the youngest player to
• 9:32
score 100 goals for the club. He won the Coppola Birddors,
• 9:36
helping his team achieve a victory they hadn't had in more
• 9:39
than 50 years. Neymar then moved to Barcelona
• 9:43
and Spain where he won the treble and scored in a Champions
• 9:46
League final. His transfer to PSG in France
• 9:49
became the most expensive ever and he helped them reach their
• 9:53
first Champions League final. Neymar has broken the all time
• 9:57
goal record for Brazil's men's team and has scored in three
• 10:01
different World Cup tournaments. He also won an Olympic gold
• 10:04
medal and set many records for goals and assists, making him
• 10:08
one of the most successful soccer players ever.
