[SPEAKER_07]: That's me, Kyle Meredith.
1:53
[SPEAKER_07]: Today, we are talking about the AMC AMC Plus series, The Audacity.
1:59
[SPEAKER_07]: Set in the inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, it takes on the warp dreams, outsized egos, and ethical lapses of self-styled inventors of the future.
2:09
[SPEAKER_07]: In a world of jadebillionaires, psychiatrists, gurus, biohacked tech bros, AI labs, and disillusioned teams being optimized in elite private schools, and audacious data mining CEO Duncan Park, played by Billy Magnison, strives to turn insight and influence into profit and power.
2:32
[SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to be talking with most of the cast of this show, including Billy Magnison,
2:38
[SPEAKER_07]: Paul Adelstein, Simon Hellberg, Rob Cordy, Megan Rath, Everett, Blanca, Tiley, Robberg, and Ava Marie Telleak, as well as the show creator Jonathan Glatsher, which is of course a very big lineup for the show.
2:52
[SPEAKER_07]: To talk about just this crazy world,
2:55
[SPEAKER_07]: of Silicon Valley that they got into.
2:57
[SPEAKER_07]: In fact, where we're going to start is with the show creator, Jonathan Glatser, and in Star Billy Magnison, as we get in to the ego's and power and the ethical blind spots of Silicon Valley.
3:08
[SPEAKER_07]: In fact, Jonathan is going to explain why the tech world felt like the natural obsession right after his work on succession and better call Saul.
3:15
[SPEAKER_07]: calling it basically a place that writes its own satire and Billy's going to break down playing what's essentially a psychopathic narcissist CEO built from headlines that we all recognize right now so let's get into this part one today as we discuss the audacity it's Kyle Meredith with Billy Magnison and Jonathan Glatter come on this is we're doing consequences Kyle where's it come from tell us tell us tell us go go go go
3:40
[SPEAKER_08]: Alright, no, I will save you.
3:42
[SPEAKER_08]: I will save you.
3:42
[SPEAKER_08]: I just want to say wild God.
3:44
[SPEAKER_08]: What a fucking great album that is.
3:46
[SPEAKER_08]: Well, with Nick Cave, yeah, yeah.
3:49
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that's well.
3:50
[SPEAKER_07]: You've named one of the greatest of all time, which I try to surround myself with a lot of the greatest of all time.
3:54
[SPEAKER_07]: Well, that album really just blew me away.
3:56
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, absolutely.
3:57
[SPEAKER_07]: Well, that's a good place to start anyway.
3:59
[SPEAKER_07]: Let me through the compliments to you now.
4:02
[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
4:03
[SPEAKER_07]: I've not stopped thinking about this show in the six episodes that gave us since I started this.
4:06
[SPEAKER_07]: So, well, thank you.
4:07
[SPEAKER_08]: Wow.
4:07
[SPEAKER_08]: Great.
4:08
[SPEAKER_08]: Thank you.
4:08
[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you.
4:09
[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you.
4:09
[SPEAKER_08]: how did you land on Silicon Valley?
4:13
[SPEAKER_08]: Like what was it that attracted you?
4:14
[SPEAKER_08]: I don't how can you not land on Silicon Valley?
4:17
[SPEAKER_08]: I think every day, minute to minute, we're landed on Silicon Valley when we pick up our phone or interfacing with technology, it is dominant.
4:28
[SPEAKER_08]: And so I think that it's
4:30
[SPEAKER_08]: it's a perfectly good place to have as a backdrop that does a lot of heavy lifting for a drama or a satire anyway, whatever we are.
4:42
[SPEAKER_08]: And it'll submit as a comedy at some point.
4:46
[SPEAKER_08]: No, no, it can be smooth as a drama.
4:48
[SPEAKER_08]: So it is a drama, and it gets, as you saw, through sex, I mean, it can get very dramatic, which you get to seven and eight.
4:56
[SPEAKER_08]: And I do think that, yeah, Silicon Valley is where it's at.
5:02
[SPEAKER_08]: You know, and I think that it is a satire, and I think it's actually a compliment in many ways to Silicon Valley.
5:08
[SPEAKER_08]: When you are satirized, it means that you have power.
5:15
[SPEAKER_08]: skepticism and a little bit of poking fun at.
5:19
[SPEAKER_08]: And so, you know, it's why Trump loves late night so much as he's being satirized.
5:24
[SPEAKER_08]: It's an honor.
5:25
[SPEAKER_07]: And then, of course, my joking about how these, you know, dark pieces that we're seeing out there are suddenly, you know, put through the comedy filter and everything.
5:33
[SPEAKER_07]: But
5:33
[SPEAKER_07]: But it is, I mean, I think that also says something about, you know, the way and Billy, the way you all are playing this.
5:39
[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, psychopathic narcissist, right?
5:42
[SPEAKER_07]: Like, like, how do you get inside this guy?
5:44
[SPEAKER_07]: What's it like to be inside this guy?
5:47
[SPEAKER_09]: Exhausting.
5:47
[SPEAKER_09]: It's absolutely exhausting.
5:48
[SPEAKER_09]: Again, oh, oh, Jonathan Glasser created the playground.
5:54
[SPEAKER_09]: And it all stems from his mind.
5:57
[SPEAKER_09]: His psychotic mind.
5:59
[SPEAKER_09]: But like,
6:00
[SPEAKER_09]: bringing Duncan to life is a gift like these people are out there we see him in the headlines all the time and I just picked from those names that we all know to make a mixture of who Duncan Park is and like these people are out there I don't think we're crossing lines in a weird way or we're this this person exists and that's what's scary
6:22
[SPEAKER_07]: is it possible to take them too far?
6:24
[SPEAKER_09]: It is, and I think, you know, you work with talented people around you, and you, I think it's important as an actor to go find your boundaries.
6:33
[SPEAKER_09]: You have to go there, and you can only find them once you cross them.
6:37
[SPEAKER_09]: So...
6:38
[SPEAKER_09]: I think what you're seeing is not crossing them.
6:40
[SPEAKER_09]: We try to hold back as much as we could.
6:42
[SPEAKER_08]: Well, we move the boundaries.
6:44
[SPEAKER_08]: We do want an outlandishness to it.
6:47
[SPEAKER_08]: We want to, a lot of these companies, and truth, so much of it is surrounds the founder of the company.
6:53
[SPEAKER_08]: There's a real founder worship in the valley.
6:57
[SPEAKER_08]: And their personality becomes synonymous with the company in a way that I think is perhaps healing for them in some fashion.
7:06
[SPEAKER_08]: And so that personality, you know, the bigger the personality, they become the wild gods, they become wild gods.
7:15
[SPEAKER_08]: Look at that.
7:16
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, well done.
7:17
[SPEAKER_07]: We'll circle moments right there.
7:19
[SPEAKER_07]: Congrats also on the season too.
7:21
[SPEAKER_07]: You already greenlit too, like, yeah, yeah, how far do you have this in your head?
7:26
[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm not asking you specifics, obviously, but are you that type?
7:29
[SPEAKER_07]: Like, I know the story or I create as I go.
7:32
[SPEAKER_08]: I'm a creative ego guy, I learned a lot from Vince Gilligan on a better call saw who really just preached the wisdom of going brick by brick that brick two doesn't make sense if brick one doesn't and that's I think the best way to build something you always blues sky things you always sort of have an
8:00
[SPEAKER_08]: it always changes and you have to be willing to follow the story and sometimes it passes the exit that you were sure you were going to get off on and then it keeps going and sometimes you know it's all about if you can pull it off too you know I mean there's a lot of stories being told here a lot of collision points between the characters and so
8:28
[SPEAKER_08]: That is what guides me going forward, is those collision points.
8:35
[SPEAKER_09]: You're talking to one of the greatest writers of our generation.
8:38
[SPEAKER_09]: He's a brilliant, brilliant mind, and a collaborative mind, which is rare in this industry.
8:43
[SPEAKER_09]: Someone who's really just welcoming in the creative process.
8:47
[SPEAKER_09]: You know, his word is, is final, but like, again, it's a conversation.
8:53
[SPEAKER_09]: It is a true artist is someone who brings the world into it.
8:56
[SPEAKER_09]: And thanks, Jonathan Glatser.
8:57
[SPEAKER_09]: There's no one better.
8:59
[SPEAKER_07]: I love seeing what you all do with these characters.
9:00
[SPEAKER_07]: And I can't wait to see where the story goes.
9:03
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, he won't do so much for taking the top of the show.
9:06
[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you.
9:06
[SPEAKER_07]: Take care.
9:07
[SPEAKER_07]: And we'll be right back right after this.
9:09
[SPEAKER_07]: Welcome back, it's Kyle Meredith, as we talk about season one of the Audacity on AMC and AMC Plus.
9:15
[SPEAKER_07]: Now on to Paul Adelstein, Paul plays Dr. Gary Felder, he's a check-out psychiatrist, navigating a world of these tech billionaires and the ego and a lot of existential dread on his part.
9:27
[SPEAKER_07]: And we'll dig into whether Silicon Valley creates corruption or just simply
9:32
[SPEAKER_07]: Attracts it.
9:33
[SPEAKER_07]: I also Paul during this time was doing a revisit of the show prison break, which if he of course was a part of So I want to ask him how that influence is acting looking back on his younger self So let's get into this part to talking about the audacity.
9:47
[SPEAKER_07]: It's Kyle Meredith with Paul Adelstein I'm well, man.
9:51
[SPEAKER_07]: It's good to talk to you.
9:53
[SPEAKER_07]: Congratulations.
9:53
[SPEAKER_07]: You on what a what a fun weird wacky show.
9:56
[SPEAKER_07]: This is it is And dark just at the perfect time in our state of the world
10:02
[SPEAKER_07]: I think that's right.
10:03
[SPEAKER_07]: You play Gary, Gary, Gary Felder.
10:05
[SPEAKER_07]: Dr. Gary Felder.
10:07
[SPEAKER_07]: What's your take on this?
10:08
[SPEAKER_07]: I do, I love this show.
10:09
[SPEAKER_07]: I ate it up.
10:10
[SPEAKER_07]: Does the Valley corrupt these people or are they attracted to the Valley because they're corrupt?
10:16
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, what a great question.
10:17
[SPEAKER_03]: I think that sudden wealth and power and let's dig capitalism.
10:25
[SPEAKER_03]: Corruption amount of where it is.
10:26
[SPEAKER_03]: And then you,
10:29
[SPEAKER_03]: you know, you make a paradigm of move-fast and break-ings and everybody wants to break everything as opposed to build, right?
10:39
[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that creates that there's some value in being a destroyer, even though they're creators.
10:48
[SPEAKER_03]: And so that's just the right, that's a cycle, like I'm
10:53
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm adopting the values of this place, but the place you know is going to reflect my values which are the same and yeah, but I do think if you know in an examination of that kind of money and power there's going to be corruption and
11:15
[SPEAKER_07]: It's problems.
11:17
[SPEAKER_07]: It's just so interesting seeing where that world came from and started and then how it got to here.
11:23
[SPEAKER_07]: You know, because I mean, there's also something about watching this and you know, my take on it because we see these people like, I don't ever, you know, I'm not that person, but there's still like we all do things that make us unhappy, but we can't seem to let go with them.
11:40
[SPEAKER_07]: That's right.
11:41
[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's really interesting, but I think one of the things that's getting played out here and which is so great about this, one of the things we're great about the show is that the show's very humanizing and then it shows that everybody does that.
11:54
[SPEAKER_03]: But when you do that, except what your job is affects every single person on earth,
12:01
[SPEAKER_03]: The stakes of it, even though there are still being driven by petty gripes and ego and maybe not the best intentions all the time, okay, that's one thing if you're in an acting class.
12:16
[SPEAKER_03]: It's another thing, if you're building these machines that are going to change the way we think and talk to our kids and every other thing.
12:24
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's being played, it's like sandbox fights with nuclear warheads, which is not
12:31
[SPEAKER_03]: which is terrifying.
12:32
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I do think I think that one of the things in the last 20 year, I mean, I guess the Steve Jobs Bill Gates thing is that these people who put forth as these incredible visionaries, who were kind of philosopher kings.
12:45
[SPEAKER_03]: And what the show does really well, as it says, these are human beings who are coming up with some brilliant ideas, but let's not, they're not out there.
12:57
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, being 100% altruistic all the time, let's not be naive, they're just human, like you and me, except again, when they make a decision about something, it changes everything, it changes everything, it changes everything, so that's...
13:12
[SPEAKER_07]: really interesting and a little terrifying.
13:15
[SPEAKER_07]: Sure.
13:15
[SPEAKER_07]: And interesting to see the way you all play with it.
13:18
[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I think it was, I heard Simon say this in a different interview and everything, but but like, like, for, for a Gary and everything, like, like, totally, what are you feeling when you do these scenes?
13:30
[SPEAKER_07]: Because watching him just sort of,
13:33
[SPEAKER_03]: not care in his caring like that's like what a fun we're talking about acting you know what like what a fun acting exercise it is it's a tough it was a tough acting exercise for me because I'm not a passive guy and I don't usually pay passive people so when Sarah for instance we plays uh Joanne would start you know getting wound up I'd be meeting her at that energy and it was kind of like we had to say like that's actually not what the dynamic is his dynamic is
14:01
[SPEAKER_03]: Not quite Buddha because he's more checked out than Buddha, but I think he's gone to a place where he's kind of in his own head, how did I get here, what the hell happened, and he's not paying a much attention.
14:13
[SPEAKER_03]: Until Orson snaps him out of it a little bit, but I also think,
14:17
[SPEAKER_03]: It's an interesting, you know, Jonathan Glattler wrote it, nobody is spared.
14:22
[SPEAKER_03]: Like, the tech CEOs aren't spared of their petty grievances and Gary's not either.
14:28
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Gary's a little bitter.
14:29
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he thought he was gonna be a bigger deal than he is, you know, and he's having trouble with that.
14:36
[SPEAKER_03]: And so he's still as like Hydros, he's still trying to do his good at job as he can, but I think he's kind of in a rut.
14:43
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what it's gonna take to get him out of that.
14:47
[SPEAKER_07]: Well, I'll wrap with this one too, has rewatching prison break as you've got on the podcast.
14:53
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
14:54
[SPEAKER_07]: Has that affected your current process, watching something like that in the past or what you're doing now?
14:59
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
15:00
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's always educational to see really also how, just...
15:08
[SPEAKER_03]: TV making has changed.
15:09
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's one of the things we do on that podcast we talk about Okay, so how were we making television 20 years ago and how has it changed and a lot has a lot hasn't but yeah, that's always educational I mean from an acting perspective the assignments
15:25
[SPEAKER_03]: couldn't be more different and the tone couldn't be more different, which is great.
15:28
[SPEAKER_03]: I love that.
15:30
[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll also say this just as an aside.
15:32
[SPEAKER_03]: There's a break with so long ago now that there's stuff that comes on, I was like, I don't remember that at all.
15:38
[SPEAKER_03]: She's weird, which is weird, because you were there.
15:41
[SPEAKER_07]: You can see you are there.
15:42
[SPEAKER_07]: I was there, I don't really actually recall that.
15:45
[SPEAKER_07]: uh yeah it's it's it's fun listening that it's very fun watching you all in the audacity and uh and I seriously appreciate uh get to talk to you all about it thank you nice talking to you and we'll be right back right after this
15:58
[SPEAKER_07]: All right, welcome back.
15:58
[SPEAKER_07]: It's Kyle Manith, as we talk about the audacity on AMC and AMC Plus.
16:03
[SPEAKER_07]: Next up, Simon Helbert Robcordry and Megan Rath.
16:07
[SPEAKER_07]: Now, these are the characters who might might actually be good or at least they think they're the good ones in this world full of egos and bad decisions.
16:15
[SPEAKER_07]: And so this trio is going to get into that contradiction that's at the center of the show, especially with Simon's, his character's tech mind trying to build human connection while completely losing his own with his family.
16:29
[SPEAKER_07]: Megan's going to admit that, you know, the most well-meaning players are still chasing power and money like everybody else.
16:35
[SPEAKER_07]: Rob is going to talk about taking inspiration from succession, maybe even stealing from it as well, and there's Carrie Oki, and somebody gets hit with a truffle.
16:45
[SPEAKER_07]: So let's get into it as we do part three of today's episode about the audacity.
16:50
[SPEAKER_07]: It's Kyle Meredith with Simon Hellberg, Rob Cordy, and Megan Rath.
16:54
[SPEAKER_04]: Hi, Kyle.
16:55
[SPEAKER_07]: It's good to see you all.
16:57
[SPEAKER_07]: I was just thinking, Rob, it's not too long since we did this talk about the senior.
17:01
[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, right.
17:02
[SPEAKER_07]: That's right.
17:02
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
17:03
[SPEAKER_07]: Quick return.
17:04
[SPEAKER_07]: I like thinking that this is what that character did afterwards, by the way.
17:07
[SPEAKER_07]: The football coach.
17:08
[SPEAKER_07]: Now it goes to doing the best stuff.
17:11
[SPEAKER_07]: or the other way around or the other way around it's it's seriously what it would have fun dark messed up show that you all have got to be a part of right here rock we'll start with you since we're sent to right here and everything like do you know what you're getting into when you've got Jonathan's name attached to a script like did you kind of understand the world you might be going towards
17:32
[SPEAKER_10]: I was a huge, huge fan of pretty much all his work, and at the time I happened to be binging succession, and then when I, when it, it became a comfort show, because I, it would, it would stop, and I would just start again on season one and until it just got too much, but it really
17:56
[SPEAKER_10]: And yes, that's that is to say yes is anybody involved with that show in any way is to me someone that is worth working with.
18:08
[SPEAKER_10]: like helped you, like, don't be like those people?
18:12
[SPEAKER_10]: What, uh, no, I don't know.
18:14
[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know, just it was like, um, I just, they, I get inspired by watching good acting, you know, and I think it affects my acting.
18:26
[SPEAKER_10]: I, I usually try and do it like try and watch things that are similar to or or adjacent to what I'm doing and and I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll
18:41
[SPEAKER_07]: I don't think he buys good.
18:45
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, right, right?
18:47
[SPEAKER_07]: Well, we're talking about these people and Megan Like especially the three of you all it seems like these characters are the ones who want to be the good The good guys the good people, right?
18:58
[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, is that is that sort of the way you see them like flaws and all yeah, yeah for sure
19:04
[SPEAKER_04]: I think she all, they all genuinely believe they're doing the right thing and they're making the right choices and the bad choices that they're making, nobody sees.
19:15
[SPEAKER_07]: Your character is fun to, like I try to figure out, like, is she still feeling the way that she gets to see these, you know, tiny people try to be very, very big or is she just
19:32
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think that she's one of them, and I think she knows that she's one of them.
19:40
[SPEAKER_04]: She comes from a good place.
19:42
[SPEAKER_04]: She has aspirations to make a positive impact in this tech world, but ultimately, she's completely motivated by power and money, just like the rest of them.
19:56
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
19:56
[SPEAKER_10]: Nobody pivots like Anishka.
19:58
[SPEAKER_10]: She pivots.
19:59
[SPEAKER_10]: Pivots.
20:00
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, there's no bills there and for her, yeah, that's just like it's all wins.
20:06
[SPEAKER_07]: Jeremy, because it's not.
20:10
[SPEAKER_07]: Simon, is that the same for Martin?
20:11
[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I mean, this again, this is somebody like I wanted to believe in, but it's so interesting to watch him because, because here he has a problem with with human connection and yet is trying to build something that does exactly that, like,
20:29
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think that's a good way to describe it.
20:32
[SPEAKER_05]: It is about human connection.
20:33
[SPEAKER_05]: The irony that's not seen by him is that the attempt to connect through technology is just alienating him further, and alienating all of us further.
20:45
[SPEAKER_05]: So that's when you're in it and he's in it.
20:50
[SPEAKER_05]: There's a real earnestness to it, and a real kind of dire need to save, I don't know, to save his relationships or future relationships, but of course, all his relationships are, you know, are perishing because he's isolated himself in a garage all day long, you know?
21:09
[SPEAKER_07]: It seems like an obvious question, but I'll go for it anyway.
21:11
[SPEAKER_07]: Like, you all being now inside of this world in the show has it changed any of your all relationships with technology and how you might have used it before?
21:22
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I think we all feel the same way.
21:25
[SPEAKER_10]: We're pretty, nobody, we're all customizing our cookies.
21:31
[SPEAKER_10]: Basically, you know, never accept all.
21:35
[SPEAKER_10]: The central only.
21:36
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
21:37
[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, it's, I think, episode six where we learn what we already know, but to hear it again and written so well.
21:46
[SPEAKER_10]: Like, Jonathan really writes it in a way that scares the hell out of me.
21:51
[SPEAKER_07]: Well, Megan, have you ever been hit with a trouble before in your life?
21:56
[SPEAKER_04]: No, I wish I had a trouble with that thing.
21:59
[SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you.
22:01
[SPEAKER_07]: It's so well by the way, just the close-up of that.
22:04
[SPEAKER_04]: By the way, he nailed me every single time.
22:07
[SPEAKER_04]: We had a stunt, we had a stunt guy there that was going to do it.
22:10
[SPEAKER_04]: Didn't need it, because Billy can't breathe on the air base.
22:15
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
22:16
[SPEAKER_07]: Nice.
22:16
[SPEAKER_07]: And Rob, karaoke, is that all there is, right?
22:21
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
22:22
[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you.
22:22
[SPEAKER_07]: Is that your karaoke song?
22:24
[SPEAKER_07]: You got a you got a better one?
22:26
[SPEAKER_10]: No, that song is so hard I mean, it doesn't look hard, but it's but I'm not a singer.
22:32
[SPEAKER_10]: He's handsome.
22:32
[SPEAKER_10]: I'll be a slew to play and It was but I am so into that song now.
22:37
[SPEAKER_10]: So I love it.
22:39
[SPEAKER_10]: It's on like three of my playlists.
22:41
[SPEAKER_10]: My go-to playlists Love it.
22:44
[SPEAKER_10]: Hold in that out the next party.
22:45
[SPEAKER_07]: I hope it's such a weird song
22:48
[SPEAKER_07]: you know, it's a very weird.
22:50
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
22:51
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's barely a song I guess.
22:53
[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
22:53
[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I don't know what it is.
22:55
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, right.
22:56
[SPEAKER_07]: And Simon, I'll bring this into because you guys got to season two already, right?
23:00
[SPEAKER_07]: Like, yeah, like, how much of you of that, or maybe you already said, I don't know where you are at it, but like, like, how much do you all think about these characters ahead of time?
23:10
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like trying to get my mind back in it because we are going to start shooting.
23:15
[SPEAKER_05]: Again, we have no script.
23:17
[SPEAKER_05]: very similar to the first season where we sort of showed up, you know, with, I guess with two that we had read.
23:26
[SPEAKER_05]: But having to jump into a full season, not knowing the characters at all last season, was its own thing.
23:32
[SPEAKER_05]: And now, you know, we know the characters, but we don't really know whether they're going to go.
23:35
[SPEAKER_05]: So I'm also just very eager.
23:37
[SPEAKER_05]: as somebody who's now seeing all of them, I really want to know what's going to happen.
23:43
[SPEAKER_05]: Just as an observer, but same.
23:46
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so if we can just get Jonathan to speed things out of him.
23:55
[SPEAKER_10]: Did he say I'm growing my mustache back I guess yes, so that's prep.
24:02
[SPEAKER_10]: Yes, I got very let's go back I'm growing mine too.
24:05
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's a pleasure talking to you all.
24:10
[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you so much for taking the time.
24:12
[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you
24:14
[SPEAKER_07]: Alright, now for the final part, part 4 of today's episode, we're going to talk with the youths of this show.
24:19
[SPEAKER_07]: Everton, Everton, Blunk, Tyler Roberg, and Avomri, Telek.
24:25
[SPEAKER_07]: They play the next generation in this show where the adults are spiraling and the kids are left to figure out what comes next.
24:31
[SPEAKER_07]: This trio is going to dig into how the characters carry the emotional weight of absent, success, obsessed parents and whether there's actually a way to break this cycle.
24:42
[SPEAKER_07]: I'm plenty of fun moments as well.
24:44
[SPEAKER_07]: Let's get into a part four talking about the audacity on AMC and AMC plus it's Everett Blunk, Tyler Roberg, and Ava Marie-Tellik.
24:54
[SPEAKER_07]: I love you.
24:55
[SPEAKER_07]: I love you.
24:55
[SPEAKER_07]: I love you.
24:56
[SPEAKER_11]: This is so sad.
24:58
[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you.
24:59
[SPEAKER_07]: This is to make me look way cooler than I am, but, uh, I love the very cool.
25:04
[SPEAKER_07]: just keep my heroes over my shoulder right there.
25:08
[SPEAKER_07]: Hey, congratulations, you all.
25:10
[SPEAKER_07]: What a bonkers fun show, but dark show, the audacity turned out to be.
25:15
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, easy.
25:17
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah.
25:19
[SPEAKER_07]: Bye.
25:20
[SPEAKER_07]: April, I'll start with you actually because is it, is it say to say, like none of these people are happy on this show?
25:26
[SPEAKER_11]: Um, I, yeah, I think they're all reaching for something that they feel like they can have, but they won't be happy until they reach it is what they think and I think even when they do reach it, it's like, oh, they're still missing something.
25:41
[SPEAKER_11]: I think that's the best way to describe it.
25:43
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, actually.
25:43
[SPEAKER_11]: And I think with the teens, they're constantly missing that affection and that love from their parents.
25:48
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I mean, watching you all go through what's the characters, you know, go through all of this.
25:54
[SPEAKER_07]: Um, and Tyler, if you want to take this one too, because it's like, I wonder like, do these kids have any chance whatsoever?
26:02
[SPEAKER_07]: Or are they just doomed for a step in repeats?
26:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think what we really wanted to do with this show is that the kids are the hope and the parents are doing some pretty chaotic things, I think, you know, they're so innocent and they're just trying to get by and I think it's not their fault for how they are.
26:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Their parents are really affecting them in some way, but you know,
26:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I think later in a show, you really see that like the kids take the reins, like they really decide their own fate and they stop letting their parents decide it for them and I think that's something that later it explores really well.
26:41
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, how was this pitch to you all?
26:43
[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, when they send over and say this is what the show's about, like how does this show get explained?
26:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, read the pilot and yeah, it would be all just kind of weirded out with it.
26:54
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, and yeah, I mean like, well, when we when we got when we got the pilot We also thought that creatives attached to it and they're like, wow.
27:02
[SPEAKER_11]: So I mean that was that was enough of a pitch to us to be like, oh my god, I'm just a dream reading this script.
27:08
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, this script.
27:09
[SPEAKER_11]: Oh my god.
27:09
[SPEAKER_11]: It's amazing.
27:10
[SPEAKER_11]: But um, yeah, I mean it was it was it was described as a
27:15
[SPEAKER_11]: Hey, Jonathan Glenn, to project in this, as long as we saw that, it was immediate.
27:20
[SPEAKER_07]: Like, you know what you're getting into.
27:21
[SPEAKER_07]: I think that's what I was getting through.
27:22
[SPEAKER_07]: Like, when his name's attached, you kind of know what you're getting into.
27:25
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, especially after succession, too.
27:28
[SPEAKER_07]: Like, how's that?
27:29
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
27:29
[SPEAKER_07]: Like, how do you all feel about being the show that follows up succession?
27:32
[SPEAKER_11]: I mean, it's exciting.
27:36
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, it's really exciting.
27:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it's such a critically acclaimed and very well-versived show, so it's like that we were even, that we're working on something that, you know, with someone, sorry, we were working with someone who works so prominently on that, it's crazy, it's...
27:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was an honor to be a part of...
28:02
[SPEAKER_02]: based on and like just the writing is so good and just they they're so invested in these characters and how complex they are and getting to tell these stories have been so much fun and the pressure's on yeah we're out.
28:15
[SPEAKER_07]: I imagine there's a yeah some kind of contrast though to having a you know a script with a lot of dark and happy people but but like everybody on the cast is like funny people.
28:26
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, it's so funny.
28:28
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's so full like I like every time we go into a scene, you're sitting in like the tenor or whatever before or getting ready to shoot it and everyone's like laughing and having fun or fathom jokes and then the second funny and real life like it's like they're yeah.
28:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everyone's great like the second they call actually it's just like everyone gets into it and it's a world.
28:48
[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, everyone's happy.
28:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Every word, word, these people go.
28:51
[SPEAKER_11]: It's hard not to crack during a scene.
28:53
[SPEAKER_11]: It's so cool.
28:55
[SPEAKER_07]: Props to you off or being able to get through all of that.
29:00
[SPEAKER_07]: You know, and ever, I was even just looking to because I don't know which came first, but you know, you coming off the plague and I was like, this social anxiety.
29:07
[SPEAKER_07]: And now throw this to all of you all to because it really seems like you are tapping into something in the bigger picture like what's going on, you know, real world right now.
29:18
[SPEAKER_07]: Does that feel like that's the case?
29:20
[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I think so.
29:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I think.
29:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, I think having, for me, having a character who's anxious and introverted and shy can be a little harder than someone who's so big and extra, because like you have to kind of, there's a lot less time and moments to,
29:44
[SPEAKER_01]: show that through words and a lot of it's just like looks or actions or movements or whatever.
29:50
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think that that's that was that was an interesting challenge for me, but I think it was for I mean, especially like you and me throughout the first
30:00
[SPEAKER_01]: a couple episodes.
30:01
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like a looks back and forth.
30:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we do a lot of communicating with with no words.
30:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're all we all play really lonely people in this show and we kind of I mean, especially our characters, we we don't really know how to communicate that well.
30:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, verbally.
30:16
[SPEAKER_02]: So we, you know, we have a little, a little thing throughout the show.
30:20
[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you'll have to watch and watch.
30:22
[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
30:22
[SPEAKER_07]: When Tyler that's being a little things, um, the cone on the car scene is one of the fun scenes on that scene.
30:31
[SPEAKER_07]: No, like I hopefully that's been I don't know if that's taken for real life, but that's one of the funny and like that's extremely a great moment.
30:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I hope it's you that's hilarious.
30:41
[SPEAKER_07]: I would be.
30:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean we don't have we're both from Vancouver and there's still like so driving games.
30:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so I like just learned about that while filming the show and I didn't even know that was a thing You know they're all over the place here.
30:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I know we're sorry.
30:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I hope someone watches maybe I shouldn't say that But in the one who's done this before that's a great
31:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, it was amazing.
31:24
[SPEAKER_02]: What did you think?
31:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Did you like it?
31:25
[SPEAKER_01]: It was great.
31:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I was told me if you liked it or not.
31:28
[SPEAKER_01]: We were there.
31:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we were at like this.
31:30
[SPEAKER_01]: It was like a venue fair thing.
31:32
[SPEAKER_01]: So we were there.
31:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, it concerts at P&E.
31:35
[SPEAKER_01]: You were super, perhaps earlier.
31:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
31:37
[SPEAKER_02]: We hang out a lot.
31:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so sorry to be here itself.
31:42
[SPEAKER_07]: I enjoyed seeing that anyway.
31:44
[SPEAKER_07]: I do.
31:44
[SPEAKER_07]: I love the show.
31:45
[SPEAKER_07]: I'm looking forward to that second season.
