- 0:00SPEAKER_01: John chapter 6, I want to pick it up in verse 26.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: Now, what's going on is if you if you if you're familiar with this chapter, you might know that it starts out, and Jesus has fed the multitude.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: He's feeding the multitude at the beginning of this chapter.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: 5,000 people besides women and children.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: 5,000 men, excuse me.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: 5,000 men besides women and children.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: You know, I always say that, you know, let's say most of them are married.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: We can double that number, 10,000 and children, how many kids do they have?
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: We don't know.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: It doesn't say there wasn't birth control, so they didn't have, they didn't necessarily have 2.4 children like people do uh these days.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: So maybe there was 30, 40, who knows how many tens of thousands of mouths there really were to feed and feed, and Jesus really fed them.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: And then when that happened, there were so many of the people there, they saw what had been done.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: They they partook of it.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: They they not only saw a miracle, but they were blessed by a miracle.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: They partook of a miracle, and they're like, and they're they've watched this whole thing right in front of them, and they said, Surely this is the prophet that was spoken of.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: This is the one that we've been waiting for.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: And then Jesus saw what they were, they all started gathering together and doing something because Jesus said when he saw that they were, that they were, they were going to try to take him by force and make him the king of Israel.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: They wanted him to be the literal king sitting on the throne in Jerusalem.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: And that's not what he came for at all.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: And he said, well, that we're not going to do that.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: So he went up to a high mountain all by himself.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: He just went away and got away from everybody.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: They weren't going to do nothing with Jesus there.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: He went away, got out of the crowd, and went off by himself.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: He went by himself.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: The twelve disciples got in the boat and they went on over to the other side of the lake there.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: And uh they had rowed about three or four hours across the lake, and then they see Jesus, he comes walking on water.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: And he gets in the boat, and the Bible says, as soon as he got in the boat, immediately they were on the other side.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Then it goes on, and we're trying to catch up to verse 26 here.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: I'm giving you the quick version so we don't have to stay here for four hours.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: Um then it goes on, and it says, When the other men saw that Jesus and the disciples were both there on the other side, but there was only one boat, and they know the disciples used that one.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: They wondered how Jesus got there.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: And then it goes on and explains, it says that there were other boats on the other side.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: So they, when they saw that Jesus was at the mountain, the disciples had taken off, and there was nobody, they were all gone, so there they all got in boats, and they followed the disciples and went over to the other side too.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: But they didn't know how Jesus got there.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: And so they asked him, How did you get here?
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: When did you come here?
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: And then verse 26 is where we're at now.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: So then Jesus answers, and he says, Certainly I say to you, you're seeking me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate the loaves and you were filled.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Now, I used to wonder about this saying because I thought, no, wait a minute, they saw the signs, they were there, they ate.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: They saw what you did, but he says, but it wasn't because it wasn't because of that.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: You following me because you got filled, because if you because if you follow me, you know you can have something to eat.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: You know you will not be hungry anymore, physically hungry.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: You know I can provide that.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: You're you're following me, you're seeking me, because of the natural food that I gave you, not because of the spiritual thing that you saw.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Verse 27.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: But I'm telling you, don't labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has said has set his seal on him.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Now, we're going to see Jesus talking a lot about the bread, the living bread, the true bread.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: He's going to talk about the manna, the manna that came in the days of Moses, and he's going to do a lot of reference to that.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Right off the bat, he tells them, there's something that we're seeing here.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: He's saying, He's saying, the reason you're following me is because of the natural food that I gave you.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: I fed your tummies.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: And that's what you're seeking after.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Now, what we're looking at, what what he's showing us here when he says, Don't be seeking after that, but seek after the food that gives you everlasting life.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: So what he's saying there is basically the same thing that we see God telling Israel in Deuteronomy chapter 8, which is where the children of Israel had, you know, they'd gone through the desert.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: And God said, I humbled you and I fed you manna, which you didn't know or your fathers didn't know, that you might know, you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: And so and so what he was now watch what he did there.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: Think about that.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: I've I've I've mentioned this a whole lot, but this is what we're looking at tonight, and and what we're gonna look at, what we're gonna get, if you can see this and and and really just get a clear picture, if the Holy Spirit can use my stupid words tonight and give you a clear reality of what we're really dealing with.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: You can see what causes people to stumble and why why why people experience hell on earth and moments of hell on earth, even Christians, and it doesn't have to be because welcome to the kingdom of heaven.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Now, so we're gonna make this easy tonight.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: We want to look at this, and the Holy Spirit's gonna show us something, and and and the yoke will be easy, the burden will be light if you can see this tonight.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Um so look at what they did in the desert there.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: How did God, what did God do?
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: For 40 years, he took care of every natural need that they had.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: I gave you food.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: Every day I fed you and I gave you bread, so you would know that that's not what it's about.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: That that's not enough.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: Man does not live by bread alone.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: I gave you everything that you needed.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: When you left Egypt and you came to the Red Sea and you looked like you were cornered, and Pharaoh decided he didn't want you to leave after all, and he comes after you, and you said, Ah, we should have stayed in Egypt.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Now, I would at least rather have died at home than die out here.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: And they're all scared and they're complaining, and then what happens?
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: God parts the Red Sea, right?
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: And we know the story.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: They get to the other side, more, they're happy now.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: God has taken care of them.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: See, God is taking care of the natural situation they were in, and so they break out the instruments and they're dancing and they're singing about how the Lord has triumphed gloriously, the horse and rider thrown into the sea, you know.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: And they're singing and they're having a worship service and they're thanking God, and God, you're so faithful, and God, you're so good.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're the best, you're the greatest.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: We're so glad that we're with you.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Three days later, right?
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: We hate it here.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: God's trying to kill us, is what's going on here.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Moses, you deceived us.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: We hate you.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: We, you know, we we wish we had never left.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: Three days later.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Because they got thirsty.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: They were thirsty.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: There was no water where they were camping.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: So God gave them water.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: Later on, they moved on to another place.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: There was water, but it didn't taste good, so he made the water taste good for them.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: They wanted food, he gave them manna.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Gave them manna every single day.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: Took care of the shoes.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: They never had never never wanted for new clothes because they had new clothes every single day for 40s.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Always wore new clothes, nothing but new clothes.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Their clothes never got old.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Never had ill-fitting clothes, it was tailored.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: Everything grew.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Their shoes grew with them as they grew.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: Everything was good, it was good.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Everything was taken care of.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: When enemies came against them, what happened?
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: God went ahead of them and took care of that for them, right?
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: What's he doing here?
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: What is he showing us today in this is that God took care of every natural need.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: Everything that they would have thought.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: God, if you'll do this, that we'll be happy.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: God, if you do this, that's all we need.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: I remember in my young Christian life, I used to say, God, if you'll do this one thing, I promise I'll never ask anything again.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: Now there's a couple of things wrong with that.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: Number one, is I was lying because I still ask him for things to this day.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: And he did do that, you know, many things when I did it.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: But uh, but I had a wrong idea of God.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: I thought that God would really jump on that deal.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: I thought that God was looking for that kind of deal.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Like he'd say, Oh, I can't turn that down.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna answer this one finally, so get the guy to shut up.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: He'll never ask me anything again, he won't bother me.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: That's a kind of picture I had of God.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: But you think, you ask things like that, you talk like that because you think that's all I need, God.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: I won't ever have to ask for anything if you'll just do this one thing for me.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: But what we find out is what they found out, what he made them know in the desert, that everything he did for them in this natural world was never, ever, ever enough.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: And he took care of every need.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: And after 40 years, they didn't change one bit.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: They still experienced hell on earth.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: They still were afraid, they still were angry, they still were frustrated, they still were selfish, they still were the same way.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: He said, for 40 years they saw my works, but they never knew my ways.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: And so, and we see this with Jesus in so many things.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, why are they coming to make him a king?
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Because they need somebody that's gonna take care of their natural situation.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: They got Rome out there to deal with.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: They got Herod on the throne, the crooked man on that throne.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: We gotta get rid of him.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: If we can get rid of Herod, it'll be a lot better around here.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Let's get a good man like Jesus, and then everything will be hunky-dory, right?
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: We got this guy to lead us.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: We can finally get Rome out of our out of our business and finally be happy, be free, won't be oppressed anymore.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Get the sin out of Israel, everybody be good.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: And Jesus didn't deal with any of that.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: He's when he when he died and rose from the dead and ascended to the Father, he left Rome there, still in control.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Herod still, you know, the evil still on the throne, sin still in Israel, and all that stuff.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: He didn't fix any of the natural situations necessarily.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, he demonstrated goodness wherever he went, and he went around healing the sick and doing all that.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: But but even in those things, what what what's understood, and God does do those things, we all know that, but he says, my point is that's not what life is.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: How many people have had a had a I could not tell you how many times people have come to me for prayer and said, said, Rick, um, I've applied for this job.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: I believe God wants me to have it.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: I want that job.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: If if I can get that job, this is exactly what I need.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, I can pay this, I can do that, I'll be able to do this, the hours.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: I really want that job.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: So we pray, and then they get it.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: And then they're crying and testifying.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: God is faithful.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Jesus.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: I'm just telling you, church, you can trust him.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Look what he did for me.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Six months later, they're asking for prayer again.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Brother Rick, I need deliverance from that job.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: There's demons in that place.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: They don't pay enough.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: The boss don't like me.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Like they learned that.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Getting these things fixed that we think that we think are going to fulfill us, bring us joy, happiness, peace, they do do that, but they do it for about three hours.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Three days.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: Three days in that in that in that case.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: And and honestly, that's if you really think and look about look at it, most things do last for about that long.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: Most of the joy.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: And what it is, it's like we're we're we're we're we're getting this buzz.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: Now, I brought this because I want to I want to show you something.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: Jesus said, or God said in Deuteronomy 8, he said, he said, Man doesn't live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: Uh he also said in Deuteronomy chapter 30, verses 19 and 20, he says, I call heaven and earth to record on you today.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: He says, I set before you life and death, blessing and cursing.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Therefore choose life that you may live, that you may love the Lord with all your heart, and you may obey him, and I am your life.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And so Jesus also came and he told us about that life.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: He said, You know, I didn't come to Kim, I came that you might have life, that you would have life more abundantly.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: And that's what he came to give us.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Even though he left Rome in control and he left evil on the throne, and he left so many things that they all thought that their Messiah was going to change, he came and did something far beyond that.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: He made a new creation.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: He changed the hearts of men, and he brought to us the kingdom of heaven itself.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: He didn't have to fix this little world down here.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: He brought heaven to us.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: That's why he said, he said, now before he left, he said, now in this world here, this world, there's tribulation.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: But be of good cheer, be happy, and have a good time, because I overcame all that for you.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: You can still have joy, you can still have peace, you can still have love, because it's not, it never was attached to those things from the very beginning.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Now, this is going to be my cord.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: And this is what this is what the world does, and a lot of us in church do.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: They're looking for fulfillment, they're looking to plug in.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: This is why we say, God, if you'll just do this.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: God, if you'll just get me that job that will take off all the stress.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: I'll finally have peace.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: I'll finally have joy.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Got the job.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: I'm plugging into that.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: That was gonna that was all I needed, Lord.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: I'll take it from here.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Won't ever ask you again.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: That's what we're saying.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: Until you plug in and you get, whoo! You're happy.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: You're testifying in church about that new job.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: And then after three days, oh yeah, I'm out of the zone here.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: After three days, where's the I need more?
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: I need more job.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: I need you to be better than this.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Brother Rick, pray that I get delivered from that job.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: What do you need?
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: I just need a better job.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: I thought that was got the one that God had for.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: That was the perfect one.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: I just need a better perfect one.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Plug in, we plug in.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: People plugging in, and this is why we plug into addictions, and this is why I plugged into all the stuff that I did.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Because all of mankind is like that.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: See, from the very beginning, and I talk about this a lot, is that with the fall of man, here's what here's what was set before us, just like God said in Deuteronomy 8:30.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, excuse me, 30 verse 20.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: He did the same thing in the Garden of Eden, set before us life and death, blessing and cursing.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: He says, here's a tree of life, here's the knowledge of good and evil.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: Now this one will kill you.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: And this and choose this one's life.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: And I it's me.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: I am your life.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: So you can plug into me.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: This thing has a cross on it.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: We're going to call it the Lord here.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: So we're going to plug into this here.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: He said, You can plug into me and have life.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: Well, we didn't plug into him, we plugged into the flesh.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: We plugged into carnality, we plugged into the into the temporal.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: And that's why mankind and even people in the church are still struggling with this with the remnant of that stuff that they're still trying to get over, is everybody has been plugged into that stuff out there instead of him.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: And everybody looking for everything.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: We'll do it with religion too.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Saul, King Saul, you know, he got depressed.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: And he'd feel so bad, but he'd say, you know what, there's one thing that makes me smile.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Go get that guy David, the one that sings.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: He says, because when he sings, something happens to me.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: I just get, oh, I just get so full.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: I get happy again.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: I feel hope.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: I get, I feel joyful, I feel peace.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: Go get David.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: So David would come and he'd play and he'd sing.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: And just like he said, every time he'd come, he'd sing his song, boy Saul would plug right into David's song.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: And the Bible says he'd feel better.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: But then when David was gone, he'd get oppressed again.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Because like everything else, even in religion, this is why, this is why in religion we're always looking for more, more, and more, and nothing, nothing ever said.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: How many times have we, if you've been in Pentecost, how many times has the Spirit fallen on you?
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: Have you had a Holy Ghost blowout service and had all that and all that?
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: And all you want is more, more, more, more, and more.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Because it's never, ever, ever, ever enough.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Because we're looking to outward things rather than what we've got eternally, our relationship.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: We're always inviting Jesus to come, always wanting the inviting something to fall on us.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: When the whole time, when we came to Christ, we became a new creation, and we that's when we we looked to him, we believed on him, and we plugged in to life.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: We unplugged from that knowledge of good and evil, the flesh, the carnality, the temporal realm that we used to live by and that dictated to us, and we plugged into eternity, we plugged into eternal life, we plugged into him.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: And when we plugged into him, now we're in the source.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: And this thing, and we're plugged in, you know, in fact the Bible says in 1 Corinthians chapter 6, verse 17, he that's joined to the Lord is one spirit.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: Now you're in union.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: Now you're in one.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: And everything that's here at the power source is flowing to you.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: So this is why we say we have his love, his nature, his ability.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: All the things of the spirit, love, joy, peace.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: This is how it's overcome because out in the world you have that.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: He said, I'm giving you peace, but not like the world gives.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: Now the world does give peace for a few hours or days.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: And it's about time for people to catch on that the whole issue, the whole, the big stumbling area here that people have, even with God, is that they they're they're so tuned in to the things, and Jesus told them, life is not things.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: He said in Matthew 6, he says, Don't be concerned, don't be worried about the things.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: Now you're in a world of things, and God knows, your father knows that you need things.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: But plug in, seek the kingdom.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: Get the joy, get the love, get the relationship, get the knowledge of God, get the faith, get all the stuff that only I can give you, and that stuff will be a piece of cake.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: Like it was supposed to be in the beginning.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: Welcome home, guys.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: He says, so so don't have your attention on those things.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: And here's another thing.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: This is where we it's very subtle and we and people mess it up, is that because they don't see where the real what the real life really is that's been given to us, and a lot of times because a lot of things that we've heard said in the name of God is that is that we think that this whole thing is about using the Lord to fix those things.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: They use God to fix all their situations for 40 years, and he said, I did every bit of it.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: He did that not only to show them, but to show us.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: We can read that story every day, any day that we want to, and we will always see that all of those needs of life, those outward needs of life getting met did nothing to benefit them.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Except in very short temporal moments.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: And he says, What if I give you eternal life, everlasting life, a stream of life that'll never run dry?
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Christians live the the the roller coaster up and down, up and down because they go from one event to another.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: We'll have revival in the church.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: This is what we've been needing.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: Then how come a few months later, you're begging for another one?
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: And trying to figure out what good thing you must have done to cause that revival to come in the first place and why it's not working now.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: And we're praying for things that have to do with outward manifestation rather than inward life.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: There was one place where Jesus was teaching about the Holy Spirit in the book of John.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: And this is where he was saying, now when you go before people, he says, Don't worry about what you're going to say because the Spirit will tell you what to say.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: Somebody will be with you.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: You don't have to worry about it.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: He's teaching this wonderful message.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: And the Bible says, and this young man stands up and he says, Rabbi, master, teacher, tell my brother to give me my part of the inheritance.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: Because their dad had died, and his older brother was keeping it all to himself, apparently.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: And this is bugging this guy.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: That's all this is all you can hear.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Jesus is teaching this wonderful thing about the Holy Spirit.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: He's not even thinking about that.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: All he knows is here's a guy that knows God.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Here's a guy that everybody's following.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: This is the one they're saying he's the Christ, he's the Messiah, he's he's he's the he's the he's the teacher.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: This guy knows God, he knows things.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: This guy is just.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: So while he's teaching, this guy stands up and says, says, says, Jesus, would you make my brother do the right thing?
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: Tell him to do what's fair.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: Because we think that Jesus is supposed to make everything out here fair to us.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: But he said, in the world there's tribulation.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: I've overcome it.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Be happy.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: I've given you something so much bigger and better.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: See, looking at the temporal things, here's how ludicrous it is.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: You're a new creation, child of God, loved of God at your very core, one with God, so big, so beautiful.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: How could some little temporal, fleshly, carnal, worldly thing have such an effect on someone so big and beautiful as you?
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: People just not knowing.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: We did what Jesus said would happen in Mark 4.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: He says, what happens is, he says, things start choking out the word, making people not fruitful.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: They're not experiencing the peace, the love, the joy, the goodness, and all that, even though they're tied into it.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: He says, why?
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Because he says, because things enter in.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: What did he say?
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: The cares of, here we are plugged into Jesus, the cares of life.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: Jesus do this.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Jesus do that.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: Jesus do that.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: The cares of life, the deception of money, and the desires for other things.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: And he said, life is not about things.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: In fact, I gave you things for 40 years to show you that that'll never do it for you.
- 23:28unknown: Wow.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: What's the one thing that'll do it for you, you big, beautiful new creation?
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: The thing that was, the thing you were created for, that mankind was created for in the beginning.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: We were created to be loved.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: We were created to be one with God, to experience life.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: That's why this God who is who is love created us in the first place, is because he wanted an object of love to feel.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: He wanted somebody he could give it to, give his love to, give his goodness to, give his abundance to, give the life that he carries within himself to somebody and how he created mankind.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: And so I'm gonna make them follow some rules that they can't keep.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Then I get to burn them all up, see?
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: We're created for the life.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: And the good news is, of course, Jesus said the good news at the time was tell them the kingdom is at hand now.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: It's now here.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: And it's been here for all this time.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: And every time when the heart turns to the Lord, that's when we plug in.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: I gotta read this.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: There's so much here.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: But but that man said, Make him give me my inheritance.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: You know, do what's right, do what's fair.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: And then Jesus, you know, you read that story, he didn't do it.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: He directed him back to the right thing.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: He says, that's not what it's about.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: He said, Beware.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: Beware of desiring for things, he said.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: And he tells a story about the man who built his barns and filled them up, and it was all about the things.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: And he says, and he lost it the very next day.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: He lost it all.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: He says, so you can't, life can't be about those things.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: It's so uncertain, it's so temporary, it's so nothing.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: I came to give you everlasting life.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: So you're gonna walk out here, you're never gonna be tricked again into thinking that that's what it's about.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: See, people will get mad at God because they think it's that.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: They'll get mad at God because they're asking him to fix something out here.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: And it don't always happen like you want.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: I've I've I as I was a young uh a young Christian one time, and uh I was working at the at the foundry, and a very new Christian, and I was just learning about trusting God and faith and his promises and stuff like that, and I was all excited and happy, so I was praying for a certain thing, a certain thing that I believed I needed, and uh, but there was a time limit on it.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: It had to come about by a certain time, the time came and went, and it didn't happen.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: And I threw a fit.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: Young Christian, just threw a fit.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: Just like, that's it, God, it don't work.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: This word's not true, or else this would have happened.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: I can't trust you.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: I mean, I was just just just a just a brat about the whole thing, and I was just I was just I was just going on, I mean, that's it, you know, and I'm like, I felt like I just want to unplug.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Why should I stay plugged in?
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: It don't work.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: And the whole time the power, the love, the life, and everything, all the goodness, my joy was there the whole time, but I'm all I'm I've got my switch turned out here now.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: And I steamed, you know, I was on the job and had to do my work and all that, but I was just steaming for a while.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: And then after a while, I got kind of ashamed of myself for acting like that.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: You know, I knew I was being a baby, but I started coming to my senses because I'm still plugged in, see?
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: And the word of Lord is talking, the word of the Lord's talking to me, and peace is starting to settle in, and I can see again.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: And and I said, Father, I'm sorry about that.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: I said, I'm still hurt, I'm frustrated, I I don't understand this, I'm confused, but you're still the best thing that ever happened to me.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna stay plugged in.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: And I'm gonna grow, and I'm gonna learn, and I'm gonna learn of you.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: And if I never get any prayers answered, you still are better to me than anything that I ever had out there.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: And I've grown, and I've come to know them so much more over time.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: Contrast that with what happened a number of years ago when my beautiful first wife, Teresa, died.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: Now this is decades later, and my world shattered.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: I'm now I'm hurt, I'm confused again.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: I'm frustrated.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: I thought she would live.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: I'm really not frustrated.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: That's not that didn't work.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: It wasn't that time.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: I was confused.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: I I had questions, and I was hurting because of the loss, and was in shock because of it.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: But I didn't throw a fit.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: Not for a minute, not for one second did I throw a fit.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: I've grown.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: I've grown in love because I've been connected for like 35 years after I threw that first fit as a baby Christian.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: This was like 35 years later, 30 years later or so.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: And now I've grown, I've fallen more in love with him because his love has been flowing to me.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: I'm walking with the revelation of his goodness.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: I know he's good.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: I don't this doesn't look like he's been good to me, but I'm full of knowing that he's good.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: And I didn't understand everything, but I knew that God was good.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: And I was connected with and I was in union with him who is life.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: And I didn't know what my future would look like.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: I didn't know what I didn't even know if I'd ever preach again.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: I didn't know what was going to happen in my life, but I knew that I was with him who was life, and that was gonna be awesome, whatever it was.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: That's the difference in the growth.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: It was no longer about the outward parts of my life.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: It was still, it was now about him, and that's where the life comes from.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: Let's read on.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: Go down to verse 30 there.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: They said to him, What sign will you perform?
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: Just a second here.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: They said, What sign will you perform that we may see it and we can believe in you?
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: What work will you do?
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Our fathers ate manna in the desert, as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: And Jesus said in verse 32, certainly I say to you, Moses did not give them the bread from heaven.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Now my father gives you the true bread from heaven.
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: See, Moses gave him natural bread.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: My father gives you the true bread from heaven, for the bread of God is he that comes down from heaven and he gives life to the world.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: What's he doing?
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: He's redirecting them.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: Hey, Moses was a great prophet.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: You're supposed to be greater than Moses.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: Moses fed his people.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: God gave the people food to eat through Moses.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: That's why they thought that truly this is the prophet, because the promise was that there would be another prophet like me.
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: Listen to him.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: Moses gave them bread.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: Jesus gave them bread.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: And he says, no, no, no, it's a whole different deal.
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: He says, the bread that Moses gave them, they got hungry again, and those people are dead now.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: Look at verse 35.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Look at verse 34.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: Excuse me.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: 33 says, The bread of God that comes down from heaven is the one that gives life to the world.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: Verse 34.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: Well, they said to him, Lord, give us this bread always or evermore or continually.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: That's why they're following him.
- 31:13SPEAKER_01: We always want bread.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: We always want to eat.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: We never want to have to worry anymore about what we're going to eat.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Heard a politician the other night saying, saying, you know, running for president, you know, and promising to do something so those who just barely make it to the end of the month don't have to worry about that anymore.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: And I thought, how nobody can do that.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: I know people that won't even work.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: You're going to make it so they don't have to worry about the end of the month.
- 31:40unknown: Huh?
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: If I could, if, if I if I make the same amount of money, if I do some of the same things that I do, I'm just going to make it to the end of the month.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: Politicians ain't going to help me with that.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: They just make promises.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: But people are concerned about that.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: I want to make sure that I'm secure.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: I want my money.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: I want to make sure I'm always going to have food on the table.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: Lord, give us this bread always.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: Verse 35.
- 32:02SPEAKER_01: And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: He that comes to me will never hunger.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: He who believes in me will never thirst.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: You won't have to keep getting a fix over and over again.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: You'll get this, boom, one time, and you'll always have it.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, come on.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: See, but when we don't, when we don't, we're not aware of that, we're looking, we're looking for that, for that, for that power.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: We're looking for that buzz, and that's what we get.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: Whether it's a religious buzz or whether it's we get something new, a new toy, and it's fun and it's it's exciting, and then it's like, oh, I want another toy now.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: I want a better toy.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: We know that it's always the same.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: You think millionaires and billionaires are satisfied?
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: What do they want?
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: More.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: More.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: More.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: Because it doesn't satisfy.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: Well, I think it'd be wonderful to have your own jets and do be able to do this and that.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it would.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: It'd be lots and lots of fun.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: But you're not weren't made to be fulfilled for things like that.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: You'll have lots of fun, but you'll still be depressed.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: You'll still be angry.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: You'll still be frustrated.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: You'll still be the same inside.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: But you'll have lots of toys.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: Going down to verse uh, let's skip way on down there.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: Verse 58.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: He says, This is the bread which came down from heaven.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: Not like your fathers ate manna, and they're dead.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: In other words, he says, see, that didn't give them life.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: They ate all that.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: They ate it to the food.
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: They ate it every day for 40 years.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: They still died.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: He who eats this bread that I'm talking about will live forever.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: See, this union we're talking about that really defines who you are.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: Why do you we want our whole life?
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: When I talk about being plugged in, I'm talking about making that the main thing.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: The thing that you think that you gotta have.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: Because the thing that we had to have was Him.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: And this is what I preach to the church is we have now, everybody said you were born again.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: So I I can skip all the three days of the evangelistic crusade here.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: Where everybody here is born again.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: So you're you've already got this.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: You got plugged in.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: I think Christians stumbled because a lot of us weren't taught what this means.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: A lot of us in ministry were still directed to things out there.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: Outer court stuff.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: And God definitely fixes outer court things.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: We all know that.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: We know that he does miracles, he blesses, he answers prayer, he said, you'll ask what you will.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: If you abide in the vine.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: Now they didn't have electricity in those days, so Jesus didn't use this illustration.
- 35:05SPEAKER_01: He used the vine.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: The power coming from the vine to the branch to the fruit.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: Same, same, same, same thing.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: But he said, he said, and if you abide in the vine, or if you're plugged in to the source, you ask what you will.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: And it'll be done.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: Because it's not a combination of getting what you want, it's a relationship with somebody that is everything that your heart really has wanted.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: Come on, somebody.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: See, I'm telling you, this is a way of peace and joy.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: It's not a denial of things, it's a receiving of everything.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: I used to think God was one of I used to think God was the denier.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: All He wanted to do is deny me things.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: That's why, really, after I heard the gospel for a while, I put it off because I just figured that God, you know, I know I need to go his way.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: I don't have much choice.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: You know, it's his way or no way, you know.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: But I know he's gonna try to take everything away from me, and I didn't have anything except a bunch of ugly old sinful habits.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: But I thought I wanted to keep them.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: Because I was copping up buzz.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: I was, I was, I was having, I was, I was getting something out of it, you know, for for a couple hours at a time.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: Then I didn't have to go steal some money to get some more out of it, you know.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: And I mean, I'm you know, that's why we do those things.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: We're trying to plug it into anything because of what we're we're feeling here, and I'm plugging in and plugging in, and that's all I got.
- 36:35SPEAKER_01: Not of just as poor spiritually as you can be, but at least I had my dope and my alcohol, and I could, at least I could, you know, have some sense of and it and it'll do it.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: That's why people do it.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: You'll get a sense of peace for a couple hours.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: You'll get with some some drugs, you'll get a sense of joy for a couple hours.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: But then you have to keep doing it and doing it and do it, because it's not even, it's not life, it's just stuff.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: Everything.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: Not things that we know are harmful, things that are that are good, success.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: Good hard work.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: We can plug into our work.
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna, that's it.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna focus on on work.
- 37:14SPEAKER_01: I ain't going for anything else.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: And and and you'll you'll get a sense of satisfaction, you'll get a sense of something out of it, but you're never gonna be satisfied.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Nothing can.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: That's all there is to it.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: So, and there's nothing wrong with all of these, with all the work and all the things.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: Spouses?
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: This is why you know, with marriage, this is why you've got to have this with God.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: And people that don't that do it without having God as the source, they think their spouse is gonna be a source.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: And they think, boy, if I just get married, I'll finally be happy.
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: That's all I need, that's all I want.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: That's that's when I'll finally be fulfilled as a person, if I can find that spouse for me, and then you get married, and ah, I'm happy now.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Jesus.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: But if you're looking to the spouse to be the source of your your joy and your happiness and your peace and all that, then after a while, you're this is what happens in marriages all the time.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: It's like, give me more.
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: Give me more.
- 38:16SPEAKER_01: Treat me better, do this, change.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: I'll be happy now if you I was happy at first just to get married to you, but now I'll be happy if you'll just change.
- 38:27SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: Because nothing is ever enough.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: But God blesses, doesn't he?
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: I tell Judy, I said, the the greatest of all these blessings in life, the thing that I love most is that he gave me her.
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, I love it.
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: I'm thankful every single day.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: But my our life source is in here.
- 38:55SPEAKER_01: Because no person can be God to you.
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: Now people say, well, I know my husband ain't God, and I know, but but in a sense, you're still acting like he's got that power to make or break your joy and your peace.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: And they do have that power unless you're plugged into the real power.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, come on.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: How y'all doing?
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: Plug it in.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: Plug it in, plug it in.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: Let the power begin.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: Get them under your skin.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: That's all we're gonna do on it.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: So he says, Verse 62, it's the spirit who gives life.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: The flesh profits nothing.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: But the words that I speak to you are spirit and life.
- 39:49SPEAKER_01: What did God say in Deuteronomy 8?
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: You don't live by bread alone, but by every word that uh comes from the mouth of God, because his words are spirit, his words are life.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: Spirit.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: Spirit and life.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: What you got?
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: Who are you standing there?
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: You're somebody that's connected, you're somebody that's in union.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: You have become a new creation.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: Become one with God, united with God.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: 1 Corinthians 720.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: One spirit, one spirit.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: What happens when something is plugged into the source?
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: You know, in electricity, you know, you wire things in series.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: As long as the source has power, everything has power.
- 40:35SPEAKER_01: The one thing about us, this is why the Bible does say things like, if we live in the spirit, which we do, Romans 8, he said, you're not in the flesh, you're in the spirit.
- 40:50unknown: Why?
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: Because you're one with the spirit.
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: But he's talking to people that didn't realize that apparently.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: He says, You are in the spirit.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: You're not in the flesh, you are in the spirit.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: So he says, so if we live in the spirit, then let us walk in the spirit.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: We know he always talks about sow into the spirit or so into the flesh.
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: You know, you can do anything.
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: It's almost like we're plugged into the source, but we got a switch.
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: We have a switch here, and we can point it towards the things of the world, or we can point it to the source.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: And as long as you're aware of the source, turn to the source.
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: You'll wake up every day.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: I promise, I don't care what is going on in your life around you, what you've got to deal with, what hardships are going on.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: You, I promise, you can and will wake up every day full of joy, full of strength, full of peace, full of hope.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: This is the heaven on earth.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: Not making all that stuff out there line up.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: But in the fruit of the Spirit is faith and hope and expectation.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: And that does change things.
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: He says, God, your father knows you need those things, but get this first.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: And those things will then follow.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: But as long as we're using God as a as something to just fix the things, we've got our our attention directed the wrong way.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: Are you seeing this?
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: Go to go to Deuteronomy chapter um thirty, and I just want to wrap it up there.
- 42:29SPEAKER_01: I quoted this earlier, but I want to read this.
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: Now, some things to remember in all this.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: Number one, you're a new creation.
- 42:47SPEAKER_01: You are plugged in.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: You have gotten plugged in.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: Okay?
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: It's a matter of being aware of that now, acknowledging that.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: That allows what's in this, with what's in this power source to fully flood your being.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: Because Jesus, they said, what do we do?
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: He says, believe.
- 43:11SPEAKER_01: He that believes in me.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: He that believes in me will never thirst again.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: Believe in me.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: He that believes in me.
- 43:22SPEAKER_01: You have him because of the source, you have him all all in you.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: Look at this thing.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: You know, I when I was in the world, I was plugging into things true, you know, everything that was that was presented to me, just just to cop that buzz in some realm or another.
- 43:35SPEAKER_01: And and then 40 years ago, I plugged into the power source, called on the name of the Lord, believed the gospel, responded.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: Jesus, come into my heart, boom.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: A new man was born.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: This thing has been flowing in me ever since.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: And it never has run dry, has it?
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: It just, I mean, it still just keeps increasing.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: I'm still getting revelation more than I never thought that it was even possible.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: I'm just growing more and more love is flooding my heart.
- 44:12SPEAKER_01: Rick talks too much about love.
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: As long as I'm plugged in here, I don't know what I'm gonna look like five years from now.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Because it's more and more I keep coming aware of.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: I'm just getting filled, my whole soul.
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: Now I've got the spirit, but my soul is now being filled with all the stuff that's in here.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: There's a flow, the juice is flowing here.
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 44:31SPEAKER_01: Look what happened.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: How did this happen?
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: How did Rick, you guys know me?
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: How did I get how did I get to this stupid boy?
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: To when I'm up there saying these things like that, that I have not, it was this.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: This did it! Are y'all here?
- 44:56SPEAKER_01: People always ask me, Rick, how do I get that?
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: How do I how do I make myself do that?
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Rick, how do I make my brain do that?
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: Rick, how do I come to that place?
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: How do I I I don't know this?
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: Pay attention to this.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know how I got to where I am from where I'm at.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: I ain't got no footprints here.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: This thing did it.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: The connection, the union.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: My yoke is easy, my burden is light.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: It's got so little to do with you.
- 45:37SPEAKER_01: But when you're out there, this is why we get the religious teaching that makes it think it think we do, and so we start teaching about you.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: Start teaching stuff for you to do, stuff for you to not do, stuff about you, you, you, you.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: That's there again.
- 45:48SPEAKER_01: We're we're we got life and death here, and here we got the life, and all we got to do is talk about him.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: It's not what would, honestly, it's really not what would Jesus do, because that implies us doing something, trying to be trying to be like Jesus.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: It's what did Jesus do?
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: Come on.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: And that puts your attention, it's on him, him, him, him, him.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: I got no messages that say do what I do and you'll be blessed.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: I can tell you what Jesus did.
- 46:23unknown: Thank his father.
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: Verse 19, I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: That's that wording there is it kind of seems negative.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: It's not when you look it up.
- 46:38SPEAKER_01: It simply means to repeat you.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: I've set before you life and death, blessing and cursing.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: Now I've got people saying, How do I get that life?
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to find that path to life.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to trying to trying to trying to trying to get that trying to get that life thing.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: I want this life, Rick.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: I want the life, you know.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: Because they think that when he says, I've set before you life and and and death, that he's setting it out there somewhere.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: No, he says, life and death.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: That whole thing is death.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: And this whole thing is life.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: But people are connected here and they're like looking out there.
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: I know, I know I got Jesus, but so but now what I want is that that life.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: Do we listen to ourselves?
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: He says, I call heaven and witness again.
- 47:29SPEAKER_01: I've set before you life and death, blessing and cursing.
- 47:32SPEAKER_01: Therefore, choose life.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to choose life.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: How do I choose life?
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: You already chose it.
- 47:41SPEAKER_01: This is how you got this.
- 47:42SPEAKER_01: You chose life and you got it.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: But what's my problem?
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: You don't know what you chose.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: You don't know what you chose.
- 47:54SPEAKER_01: That's why you gotta come listen to this sweaty preacher every once in a while, so you know what you chose.
- 48:01SPEAKER_01: But choose life so you and your descendants can live.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: That makes sense.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: Look at verse 20.
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: He says, Because when you do, choose life so that you can love the Lord your God with all your heart.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: Well, that was one of the commandments.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: In the old covenant, love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your might, with all your soul.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: They can't do it.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: They're not even plugged into love.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: They don't even know the world don't even know what love is.
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: You plug in, you get when you get plugged in, you start getting filled with this thing that's so big and so beautiful and so liberating, and it casts out all fear and all this stuff, and people say, Well, I love them.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: I'm acting nice, and I'm like, acting nice, that's like a little drop of water compared to the ocean that's here, you know?
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: And the command of the Old Testament, love the Lord your God.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: There again, it looks like it's something that we have to try to do.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: And he says, Oh, here's it, you can't do it.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: He says, Choose life, and you can love God.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: I'm a witness.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: I tried loving God for many years.
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: I begged God to help me to love him more.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: I cried out and apologized.
- 49:15SPEAKER_01: I said, God, I want to love you, but it's obvious I don't.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be doing this.
- 49:21SPEAKER_01: Now that I see this, I haven't asked God to help me love him in years.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: I can't help it.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: I just love him.
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: This filled my heart with love.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, come on.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: This is way too easy.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: This filled my heart with love.
- 49:41SPEAKER_01: He says, if you choose life, just choose life.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: This just choose life.
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: And you've done that.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: You chose him.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: He says, and you can't, then you can love me.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: Because I'm gonna love you so much.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: You can even try not to love me, and you still will.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: I gave you an example of me doing that.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: Then you may love the Lord your God.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: Then you may obey his voice.
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: This is why we need to preach him and not us being obedient.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: Because we preach obedience to people that cannot be obedient.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: Only the life can do this.
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: Now they've got the life that allows it, but when we direct them to their flesh, they just reap the death.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: So, what's this message of God's goodness, his love, his grace?
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: What is it doing?
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: It's directing us all to the source.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: Turning our attention on the right thing.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: Because Paul said, he that puts his affection, his attention, his focus on the things of the flesh, just reap the death that comes with it.
- 50:55SPEAKER_01: But he that puts his affection, his attention, his focus on the spirit experiences life.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: That's how that stupid boy that didn't want to do anything except get him a fix of some kind wakes up so happy now.
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 51:14SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: Gosh, isn't it good?
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: No wonder I'm so crazy about it.
- 51:19SPEAKER_01: I want everybody to know this.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: Well, Rick, I don't know.
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: You're just you're making the narrow way awful broad here.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: It's never supposed to have been narrow.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: It's only narrow because few have found it.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: Supposed to be a broad way now.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: He he saved he came and died for the whole world.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: God says, many sons come to glory.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: All be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.
- 51:47SPEAKER_01: He never wanted to keep it a secret, small little trail.
- 51:55SPEAKER_01: He didn't say the way is narrow because it's hard.
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: It's not.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: I promise you it's not.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: The way is narrow because it's very little traveled.
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: Are y'all here?
- 52:07SPEAKER_01: One of my favorite poems, Robert Frost, the last stanza says, I shall be telling this with a sigh.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: Somewhere ages and ages hence.
- 52:15SPEAKER_01: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: What's the one less traveled?
- 52:25SPEAKER_01: The way that leads to life, he said.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: Less travel.
- 52:29SPEAKER_01: Let's don't, let's make it, let's make it broad.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: Let's make a lot of people, let's let a lot of people trample this path here.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: That you may obey his voice, that you may cling to him.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: Cleave to him.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: Because he is your life.
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: He is the length of days.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: He's your everlasting life.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: Everlasting doesn't start when you die.
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: Everlasting is undiminishable life.
- 52:58SPEAKER_01: Look it up.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: You'll find the word, it means undiminishable.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: That means when bad luck happens, your life is not diminished.
- 53:07SPEAKER_01: When bad news comes, what's it say?
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: Psalms 112, you won't even be shaken by bad tidings.
- 53:13SPEAKER_01: I've overcome.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: Go ahead and be of good cheer.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: Celebrate and have a party because you've got life.
- 53:20SPEAKER_00: Woo! Amen.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: He's your life, your length of days, so you can dwell in the land that the Lord God swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.
- 53:34SPEAKER_01: You know what the land is?
- 53:36SPEAKER_01: It's not a little strip of land over in the Middle East.
- 53:39SPEAKER_01: Abraham was looking for a city whose builder and maker is God.
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: Jesus said, Go tell the good news.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: The kingdom of God is here.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: Stand up, guys.
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: How y'all doing?
- 53:53SPEAKER_01: Isn't it good to be alive?
- 53:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, really, really alive with life.
- 53:58SPEAKER_00: Yes, no wonder.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: No wonder.
- 54:02SPEAKER_01: People think, you know, you see this, you know, there are there's no glory, there's no glory in the flesh in this at all.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: Well, Rick thinks that he's just got it all together.
- 54:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm plugged in.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: But I know I'm stupid still.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: I really am.
- 54:17SPEAKER_01: Ask Judy.
- 54:19SPEAKER_01: I do things that are still so stupid it's comical.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: We all laugh at me.
- 54:25SPEAKER_01: Every day.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: But the stupid boy is plugged into life.
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: Woo! I love it.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: I love you, Lord.
