- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where two things can also be true.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It could be one of the best days that the
- 0:12Speaker 2: NFL's had.
- 0:13Speaker 1: All year, and yet it can be filled with a
- 0:16Speaker 1: lot of bitter sweet energy at the end of Sunday
- 0:19Speaker 1: afternoon because so many of the great stars got injured
- 0:22Speaker 1: in Week fifteen.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I'm Greg Rosenthal.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm here in the Chris Westleying podcast studio with my
- 0:27Speaker 1: friends Patrick Claybond, Jordan Rodrigue, and Nick Shook from Cleveland,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and Nick, you're you're with us right off the top,
- 0:34Speaker 1: because the biggest injury of them all, Patrick Mahomes, occurred
- 0:37Speaker 1: in the game that you were covering in Kansas City.
- 0:41Speaker 1: And I don't know what to say other than yeah,
- 0:44Speaker 1: multiple things can be true.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a bummer of a way for well, not
- 0:49Speaker 3: to spoil anything, but.
- 0:50Speaker 4: For it's the bummer away for the game to end
- 0:53Speaker 4: in Kansas City.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We'll leave it at that. You never want to see
- 0:55Speaker 3: a star go down like Patrick Mahomes didn't. It didn't
- 0:58Speaker 3: look good on camera either, And for somebody who has
- 1:00Speaker 3: seemingly avoided so many injuries or played through so many
- 1:03Speaker 3: injuries during his run of greatness, it's really disappointing to
- 1:07Speaker 3: see him go down like this today.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It is.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It's just a crazy day, I think since we've been
- 1:12Speaker 1: doing the show, because you have this league changing injury
- 1:16Speaker 1: with Mahomes, you have a season changing injury with Michael Parsons,
- 1:20Speaker 1: which we'll get to on a day too, where Philip
- 1:22Speaker 1: Freakin Rivers comes back, and that's like the fifth game
- 1:25Speaker 1: on the schedule because Rams Lions was so amazing and
- 1:28Speaker 1: meant so much, and there's a big injury there too,
- 1:30Speaker 1: and the AFC East looked like it was one and
- 1:32Speaker 1: then it.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Wasn't just so much. Jordan, are you ready for everything?
- 1:35Speaker 5: I think we're gonna have to have a serious chat
- 1:37Speaker 5: with Joe Burrow about what type of crystal he wore
- 1:40Speaker 5: during his pregame arrivals today around his neck, because I
- 1:43Speaker 5: don't know, I'm not trying to put one in two
- 1:45Speaker 5: and make it five here, but the day he showed
- 1:48Speaker 5: up in that crystal, the weirdest energy possible happens across
- 1:52Speaker 5: the entire league.
- 1:53Speaker 6: Yeah, and everybody's kind of channeling that injury because you
- 1:56Speaker 6: can make a case that three guys that are going
- 1:58Speaker 6: to be inducted in the camp go down for an
- 2:01Speaker 6: extended amount of time today.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Okay, so I don't want to. I don't want to because.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Philip Rivers is coming back, so he can't go for
- 2:10Speaker 5: five more years, and Eli's gonna get in.
- 2:12Speaker 7: So this is the halls.
- 2:15Speaker 8: We'll get on that theory later.
- 2:16Speaker 2: We have so much to get to and that that
- 2:18Speaker 2: is the thing. Football does suck.
- 2:21Speaker 1: It's like whenever there's a team that's healthy, they're no
- 2:23Speaker 1: longer healthy after the next week, because it's football, and
- 2:25Speaker 1: as you said, the injury rate in this league is constant.
- 2:28Speaker 1: And yet there was awesome football today and results and
- 2:32Speaker 1: performances that will shape the rest of the season.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Let's get to one of them. In Kansas City, Minshew.
- 2:37Speaker 4: From the shotgun. Mahomes has already gone into the tunnel.
- 2:40Speaker 8: Here comes pressure.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Minshew stands tall, throws downfield.
- 2:44Speaker 9: Turwid James and the game Derwin and the game Turwin.
- 2:49Speaker 8: He did money.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Second consecutive week.
- 2:55Speaker 10: The Chargers end the game on an interception last week
- 3:00Speaker 10: Tony Jefferson, this week Urwin James just.
- 3:06Speaker 1: A minute roughly of game time after Patrick Mahomes went
- 3:10Speaker 1: down with a knee injury that was later confirmed by
- 3:14Speaker 1: the Chiefs to be a torn acl Derwin James calls
- 3:19Speaker 1: game and for the Chargers to start the season in
- 3:23Speaker 1: Brazil and knock.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Off the Chiefs and let everyone know it's maybe.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Gonna be a little different season in the AFC West,
- 3:29Speaker 1: and then to cap it this way is just amazing.
- 3:33Speaker 1: We'll get to the Charger side of it, Nick, but
- 3:35Speaker 1: let's start with Mahomes. He made a statement on Twitter
- 3:41Speaker 1: after the game, and I'll read it here and it
- 3:45Speaker 1: just radiant makes you wonder, man, like just where you
- 3:49Speaker 1: were when this sort of injury happens. You're gonna remember,
- 3:52Speaker 1: he said, I don't know why this had to happen,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and not gonna lie. It hurts, but all we can
- 3:55Speaker 1: do now is trust in God, attack every single day,
- 3:57Speaker 1: over and over. Thank you Chiefs Kingdom for always supporting me,
- 4:00Speaker 1: for everyone who's reached out and sent prayers. I will
- 4:02Speaker 1: be back stronger than ever. Obviously, the Chiefs are done
- 4:07Speaker 1: for this season. They're eliminated. It raised a lot of
- 4:11Speaker 1: questions about next season and their build. Talk to me
- 4:15Speaker 1: a little bit took just about like what you saw
- 4:17Speaker 1: today from Mahomes and just everything that that kind of
- 4:20Speaker 1: meant about this season too.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I saw a team that took the field with urgency
- 4:24Speaker 3: in the first half and seemed to grab control of
- 4:26Speaker 3: this game. They were correcting a lot of the mistakes
- 4:28Speaker 3: that they'd made in the previous week, which is catching
- 4:30Speaker 3: passes on third down on target throws to Rashi Rice.
- 4:33Speaker 3: But what I also saw was the Chargers team that
- 4:35Speaker 3: took the field with legitimate intent, and that was to
- 4:37Speaker 3: win the physical battle and to let the Chiefs know
- 4:40Speaker 3: that any catch that they were going to have was
- 4:41Speaker 3: gonna be met with a defense, a blow from a defender.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Tony Jefferson's out there just laying guys out in this game.
- 4:46Speaker 3: He flattened Rashi Rice twice and then ends up getting
- 4:49Speaker 3: tossed from the game. But it was a back and
- 4:51Speaker 3: forth battle, a bit of a rock fight, very much
- 4:54Speaker 3: an AFC West battle between two rivals, but a bit
- 4:57Speaker 3: of a change to the guard. Maybe not a passing
- 4:59Speaker 3: of the torch, but a changing the guard. Not that
- 5:01Speaker 3: I'm overlooking the Broncos or anything, but the Chargers came
- 5:03Speaker 3: through with a statement which is that we are not
- 5:05Speaker 3: afraid of you anymore, and and so.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Ultimately that's what they do to win the game.
- 5:10Speaker 3: They pull it out in the second half, but Mahomes
- 5:12Speaker 3: played pretty well, and he was dealing with this knee
- 5:14Speaker 3: already was already you know, ailing him. He did not
- 5:17Speaker 3: look as mobile as he had before. A lot of
- 5:19Speaker 3: what we've seen over the last few weeks, which is scrambles,
- 5:21Speaker 3: not finding a guy open, you know, the guy who
- 5:23Speaker 3: always extends plays and finds somebody open. Nobody came open
- 5:25Speaker 3: for most of this game and most of this game.
- 5:27Speaker 3: And yeah, the Chargers got away with some things, a
- 5:29Speaker 3: couple of debatable you know, should have been pass interference
- 5:32Speaker 3: didn't end up getting flagged and end up being you know,
- 5:34Speaker 3: killing early chiefs drives. But ultimately, like Mahomes is playing
- 5:38Speaker 3: well until he goes down, playing well, not playing as
- 5:40Speaker 3: well as usual, but still playing well.
- 5:42Speaker 4: They're in this game.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Then he goes down, and that's when the season goes
- 5:45Speaker 3: down for them, essentially.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so the injury happened with a minute and fifty
- 5:49Speaker 1: three seconds left in the game. The Chargers are trailing
- 5:53Speaker 1: by three. They have it just over or near midfield,
- 5:58Speaker 1: that the forty six yard line, and yet it's tough
- 6:01Speaker 1: to see. We were talking afterwards, Patrick of you know,
- 6:05Speaker 1: you thought Minshew comes in there, he actually you know,
- 6:08Speaker 1: completes a couple passes before the interception. It was setting
- 6:12Speaker 1: up to be a Bucker long field goal attempt to
- 6:15Speaker 1: try to send it to regulation, and you were like, well,
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know, it's like, if Mahomes is in there, they
- 6:19Speaker 1: win that game. And I the way that the Chiefs
- 6:22Speaker 1: have played this season, watching it with self interest, rooting
- 6:27Speaker 1: for the Chargers, I'm thinking the Chargers are going to
- 6:28Speaker 1: find a way to win that game that actually Mahomes
- 6:31Speaker 1: or the offense, or maybe it'll be an overtime where
- 6:33Speaker 1: the defense gives it up finds a way to lose,
- 6:35Speaker 1: because that's that's what's happened all season long. And in
- 6:37Speaker 1: the second half they did, you know, go three and out,
- 6:39Speaker 1: and they punted twice, and Mahomes threw an interception in
- 6:42Speaker 1: the previous drive, a great one handed pick by dayon Henley.
- 6:45Speaker 1: So it's just been a cursed Patrick Mahomes and Chief
- 6:48Speaker 1: seasons and you hate to see it.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Yeah, well he's making he's rolling to his right trying
- 6:53Speaker 6: to make a play, which is essentially a similar play
- 6:55Speaker 6: to the play he got hurt on where pressure was
- 6:58Speaker 6: forcing him to flush from the pok.
- 7:00Speaker 8: For the majority of the game, Khalil Mack.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Who won early a whole lot in the opener, and
- 7:04Speaker 6: Brazil I was doing the same today, and I really think,
- 7:08Speaker 6: like Tony Jefferson getting run from the game, it was
- 7:10Speaker 6: a consequence, but it had a huge Tony Jefferson had
- 7:13Speaker 6: a huge impact on this game to the extent where
- 7:15Speaker 6: a lot of these short and shallow routes where Rashee Rice,
- 7:20Speaker 6: I mean.
- 7:20Speaker 8: Some of it.
- 7:21Speaker 6: You got to put on Andy Reid that Rashie Rice
- 7:24Speaker 6: and the routes schemes are so consistent from Kansas City
- 7:28Speaker 6: that defenders like Tony Jefferson got an early break on
- 7:31Speaker 6: the on the ball where he blasted Rashi Rice because
- 7:33Speaker 6: he knew exactly where the ball was going to go
- 7:35Speaker 6: and where the catchpoint was going to be. Where you
- 7:37Speaker 6: get late in the game, Xavier Worthy, there was no
- 7:39Speaker 6: Hollywood to start the game. Xavier Worthy left the game
- 7:42Speaker 6: to be evaluated concussion. Somehow able to get back into
- 7:45Speaker 6: the game and make plays down the field late where
- 7:48Speaker 6: the downfield options weren't necessarily there. Travis Kelcey was of
- 7:51Speaker 6: course having to deal with Derwin James as we saw
- 7:53Speaker 6: the game end, I think Mahomes at least gets them
- 7:56Speaker 6: closer to the end zone with with Gardner mentioned Harrison
- 7:59Speaker 6: Bucker is going to miss the twenty twenty five version
- 8:01Speaker 6: of the Chiefs, Harrison Biker was going to miss the
- 8:03Speaker 6: field goal, I think, regardless, but I feel like Mahomes
- 8:06Speaker 6: might have had a chance at least taking a couple
- 8:08Speaker 6: of balls into the end zone.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard not to just think big picture after
- 8:13Speaker 1: an injury like this. But if we're looking at the
- 8:15Speaker 1: twenty twenty five Chiefs and they're done now, I mean,
- 8:17Speaker 1: they had forty nine yards rushing in this game, and
- 8:19Speaker 1: that's the thing about the Chargers. You talk about their
- 8:21Speaker 1: physicality and for them to be able to stop the run.
- 8:24Speaker 1: They only end up with two hundred and thirty nine
- 8:25Speaker 1: yards overall, and both teams got all over the opposing quarterbacks.
- 8:29Speaker 1: We expect that for Justin Herbert. But it's interesting to
- 8:32Speaker 1: look at just these lines. Nine quarterback hits for the Chargers,
- 8:36Speaker 1: five sacks and nine tackles for loss.
- 8:39Speaker 2: The Chiefs on the other side.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Twelve quarterback hits, four sacks, six tackles for loss. So
- 8:43Speaker 1: it's a defensive game and the Chargers have been built
- 8:46Speaker 1: for that. Now, like zooming out a little bit took
- 8:49Speaker 1: kind of I don't know, what do we think about
- 8:53Speaker 1: the next version of the Chiefs because with the torn ACL,
- 8:56Speaker 1: we're not going to see Patrick Mahomes. You would assume
- 8:59Speaker 1: for a chunk of next season they're gonna have decisions
- 9:01Speaker 1: to make on Chris Jones and Travis Kelcey and we're
- 9:04Speaker 1: gonna get into all that in the offseason. But it's
- 9:07Speaker 1: it's hard not to think about, like a certain moment
- 9:09Speaker 1: in time ending doesn't mean that they're not going to
- 9:11Speaker 1: be back, but this is gonna be the first AFC
- 9:15Speaker 1: championship since twenty ten without Ben, without Patrick Mahomes or
- 9:18Speaker 1: Tom Brady. I mean, not only do they get eliminated, but.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I mean they've been to the AFC Championship game every
- 9:22Speaker 2: single time with Mahomes.
- 9:24Speaker 3: It felt like the fourth quarter of this game defined
- 9:26Speaker 3: this season for the Chiefs and also the melancholy vibe
- 9:29Speaker 3: around this team going into next year. Obviously, mahomes injury
- 9:32Speaker 3: has a big part to do with that, with the
- 9:34Speaker 3: fact that he is going to miss a good portion
- 9:36Speaker 3: of next year because he tours ACL, but it was
- 9:38Speaker 3: also the shot of Travis Kelcey on the sideline between
- 9:41Speaker 3: their penultimate and their final drive in which is just
- 9:44Speaker 3: staring into the abyss as if I don't know what
- 9:46Speaker 3: has gone wrong with this team this year, why we
- 9:48Speaker 3: can't put it together. It's the fact that you know,
- 9:50Speaker 3: they get the stop defensively and they can't get into
- 9:52Speaker 3: good enough field goal range and Mahomes goes down. They
- 9:55Speaker 3: just felt like they could never get over the hump
- 9:57Speaker 3: and do that, you know, make the magic that the
- 9:59Speaker 3: Chiefs always throughout all these years. And it casts an
- 10:02Speaker 3: uncertain light on this team going to twenty twenty six,
- 10:04Speaker 3: not just because of Mahomes, but some of your key
- 10:07Speaker 3: participants are near the age of retirement, being Travis Kelsey
- 10:10Speaker 3: being the main one.
- 10:11Speaker 4: And how do you adjust with this team?
- 10:13Speaker 3: Like the Chiefs ran up a pressure rate at four
- 10:15Speaker 3: to four point one percent, today Spags blitzed at the
- 10:17Speaker 3: second highest rate he's ever blitzed since being the Chief's
- 10:20Speaker 3: defensive coordinator, which stretches back six years now.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Like they move.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Out of desperation, they operate out of desperation because they're
- 10:26Speaker 3: just not as strong personnel wise across the board that
- 10:28Speaker 3: they were in previous years. And the salary cap dictates
- 10:31Speaker 3: that to every team in the NFL. That's why parody
- 10:33Speaker 3: reigns in this league. But how do the Chiefs adjust?
- 10:35Speaker 3: And I think back to the Eagles were in this
- 10:37Speaker 3: place a few years ago and Howie Roseman kind of
- 10:39Speaker 3: got this fluid rebuild going. The Rams were in this
- 10:42Speaker 3: place a few years ago and less Sneed gets the
- 10:44Speaker 3: fluid rebuild going, and they were able to turn it around.
- 10:46Speaker 3: But the difference was the Eagles struck goal with Jalen
- 10:49Speaker 3: Hurts at quarterback. The Rams were still able to have
- 10:51Speaker 3: Matthew Stafford at this point and come back from injury
- 10:53Speaker 3: and everything else without having Mahomes for a decent Portionman
- 10:56Speaker 3: next year. I don't know what to think about where
- 10:58Speaker 3: they're going next year. And maybe this is the point
- 11:00Speaker 3: where they do what the Rams did a few years ago,
- 11:02Speaker 3: which is, hey, you know what, maybe we won't be
- 11:04Speaker 3: that good next year, but this is the year that
- 11:05Speaker 3: we're gonna bite the bullet to be better in the
- 11:07Speaker 3: years to come.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it could be a little bit of a reset.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I remember when Tom Brady tore his a cl and
- 11:11Speaker 1: then the next year he doesn't look quite as good
- 11:12Speaker 1: and they lose in the playoffs, and everyone said, Okay,
- 11:14Speaker 1: the Patriots dynasty is over that followed obviously with the
- 11:17Speaker 1: best portion of Brady's career, but literally with the best offenses,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and so I think they can reset, but it's it's
- 11:23Speaker 1: obviously disappointing. This is such a bummer on a great
- 11:26Speaker 1: day for the Chargers too. They are very much in
- 11:29Speaker 1: the AFC West mix, and we're going to get to
- 11:32Speaker 1: the team they're going against the Broncos now. But I
- 11:34Speaker 1: think to just like cleanse us, before we get to
- 11:37Speaker 1: another great performance and another unfortunate injury to a superstar,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I think we should listen to a Call of the
- 11:44Speaker 1: Year nominee and a play that.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Didn't even count. I don't care. It could still be
- 11:48Speaker 2: the call of the year.
- 11:50Speaker 8: From the twenty. The defense is putting their hold on it.
- 11:52Speaker 8: Videl Is the back here comes with blitz by on
- 11:55Speaker 8: works hitters.
- 11:57Speaker 11: It throws acepted and I'm picked off on the point.
- 12:02Speaker 2: For rookie. That's a sick pick.
- 12:06Speaker 12: Didn't try to twenty Oh.
- 12:08Speaker 8: He's a big man with a w.
- 12:10Speaker 5: A here.
- 12:14Speaker 7: Kind of the opposite of you, Nick.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, well.
- 12:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I love that big man.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Called back by penalty. That's the rule of cool.
- 12:27Speaker 1: You can't call that by back by penalty. New York's
- 12:29Speaker 1: got a It was called back by penalty right, you're
- 12:32Speaker 1: looking at me, Funnier, Did that interception count? I a crazy?
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm an idiot. We could we could take that out
- 12:39Speaker 1: the record or not. Either way, I love you, Kevin Harlan.
- 12:42Speaker 1: The the last comment is why he just goes from
- 12:45Speaker 1: Hall of Famer to the greatest of all time.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Let's go to Denver.
- 12:49Speaker 1: We're gonna welcome Shook back later in the show for
- 12:51Speaker 1: the rest of his games. Thank you for your service,
- 12:54Speaker 1: and thank you to bow Nix for finally making the
- 12:59Speaker 1: believer is like myself pleased.
- 13:02Speaker 2: On Sunday outside.
- 13:04Speaker 11: In the Franklin in motion, Bo takes a snap four
- 13:07Speaker 11: man pressure, bow climbs the pocket, throws the.
- 13:09Speaker 12: Ball to the end zone, touchdown Denver Troy Franklin, bow
- 13:19Speaker 12: Nicks's fourth.
- 13:20Speaker 8: Touchdown pass up the jam great anticipation on that one.
- 13:26Speaker 11: Franklin goes high above his helmet with two hands to
- 13:30Speaker 11: snag the ball four yards deep from the south end zone,
- 13:34Speaker 11: and Denver is in front twenty seven to twenty three.
- 13:38Speaker 1: The Broncos would not relinquish that lead. They win thirty
- 13:42Speaker 1: four to twenty six. On a day where bow Knicks
- 13:46Speaker 1: had four touchdowns. Had Jordan Rodrieg and Patrick Clayboan honking
- 13:51Speaker 1: in the newsroom, Yes with the h Dare I say
- 13:57Speaker 1: the best performance of bo Nicks's young and career, Jordan.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so. Honestly, I think that it wasn't
- 14:05Speaker 5: just that. I will get to sort a little bit
- 14:07Speaker 5: more of the breakdown. A lot happened in this game,
- 14:10Speaker 5: Greg and Patrick. It felt like nine games all stuffed
- 14:14Speaker 5: into one actual football game with all of the sort
- 14:17Speaker 5: of drama chaos, and then actual football happened as well.
- 14:21Speaker 5: But yeah, this was to me that the game that
- 14:23Speaker 5: sent a message to the rest of the league that
- 14:25Speaker 5: Boonix is ready to lead this team to a playoff push,
- 14:31Speaker 5: is able to play a complete four quarters, but not
- 14:34Speaker 5: just that to give his offense an advantage in those
- 14:38Speaker 5: four quarters. And you saw it with some of the
- 14:42Speaker 5: ways that Sean Payton took the training wheels off the
- 14:45Speaker 5: offense at a certain point of this game. The biggest thing, though,
- 14:48Speaker 5: that we have to start with is on the Green
- 14:50Speaker 5: Bay Packer side, because these two teams entered the game
- 14:53Speaker 5: as among the best of the NFL, and one team
- 14:55Speaker 5: doesn't just leave with a loss, but with the looming
- 14:58Speaker 5: and very ominous questions of what the f mature of
- 15:00Speaker 5: this season is because the Green Bay Packers lost Micah
- 15:03Speaker 5: Parsons to a knee injury, a non contact left knee
- 15:06Speaker 5: injury that reports so far are saying is feared to
- 15:10Speaker 5: be a torn ACL. Matt Lafleur didn't have much more
- 15:14Speaker 5: of an update after the game, but it wasn't just that.
- 15:17Speaker 5: They also lost top receiver Christian Watson to an injury
- 15:20Speaker 5: the team is calling it a chest injury, and offensive
- 15:22Speaker 5: lineman Zach Tom, and they.
- 15:23Speaker 7: Were also without Tucker Kraft.
- 15:25Speaker 5: So you have to really start this thing by wondering
- 15:28Speaker 5: what is what does the near future look like for
- 15:31Speaker 5: this team?
- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to We've we've had so many you know,
- 15:34Speaker 1: we've already had this, this Mahomes conversation that I wanted
- 15:36Speaker 1: to give BoA's love and we will get to because
- 15:38Speaker 1: I think it could be a transformative win for the Broncos.
- 15:41Speaker 1: But you're right, Parsons going down with what sounds like
- 15:44Speaker 1: an ACL injury. Matt Laffleur said, it doesn't look good
- 15:49Speaker 1: as you mentioned. And Evan Williams is another guy along
- 15:51Speaker 1: with Zach Tom, who are really important for their team.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Zach tom at tackle that Lafleur said, doesn't believe that
- 15:58Speaker 1: they are going to be long term injuries, but he's
- 16:00Speaker 1: not sure if it's going to be weak or two
- 16:02Speaker 1: weeks or three. So those two guys sound weak to week,
- 16:05Speaker 1: whereas the omitting Watson in that scenario might mean his
- 16:09Speaker 1: could be long term, like Micah Parsons, but this has
- 16:13Speaker 1: been a difference making like defense all season. But it's
- 16:18Speaker 1: also felt like Michael Parsons has covered up some things,
- 16:21Speaker 1: not getting a ton of pressure from other players on
- 16:23Speaker 1: the Packers and their cornerbacks, you know, not the strength
- 16:26Speaker 1: of their team. And Bo was making great throws today,
- 16:29Speaker 1: but maybe we saw some of that even today after
- 16:31Speaker 1: the injury.
- 16:32Speaker 7: Yeah, well you saw it throughout the course of the
- 16:34Speaker 7: game too.
- 16:34Speaker 5: I mean, the thing that Bo Nicks is doing is
- 16:38Speaker 5: it's like the synapses are connecting when it's like time
- 16:41Speaker 5: for Bonnicks to run and extend to play and also
- 16:44Speaker 5: not over commit to a throw or take the risky
- 16:48Speaker 5: trick shot or make the decision that maybe is the
- 16:53Speaker 5: lowest probability decision, and it's all connecting really well. There
- 16:58Speaker 5: were times where he was on the move avoiding pressure.
- 17:01Speaker 5: Micah Parsons before he got injured, was coming off the
- 17:04Speaker 5: ball so fast and getting to him so fast, to
- 17:08Speaker 5: the point where.
- 17:08Speaker 7: We talked earlier this week about.
- 17:10Speaker 5: The Sean Payton and bo Nick's plan probably would get
- 17:13Speaker 5: a lot of the screen game going well. They were
- 17:15Speaker 5: playing Micah Parsons in a way where he was detaching
- 17:17Speaker 5: quickly from his block and covering the screen so blowing
- 17:20Speaker 5: up these plays. But the plays that bon Nicks made
- 17:24Speaker 5: came on crucial downs third and long where he worked
- 17:28Speaker 5: out of structure, avoided pressure twice and gets the ball
- 17:32Speaker 5: downfield for a conversion. Another third and three where I'm
- 17:35Speaker 5: choosing to coin this play. It wasn't designed, but it
- 17:37Speaker 5: probably will be moving forward as this moving screen where
- 17:41Speaker 5: he was working to his right again to avoid pressure
- 17:44Speaker 5: and sort of like fakes out the defense by thinking
- 17:46Speaker 5: he's just going to go out of bounds. But then
- 17:47Speaker 5: he dumps off the screen to Troy Franklin, who made
- 17:50Speaker 5: a great connection with a really beautifully feathered, layered long
- 17:54Speaker 5: pass to Courtland Sutton for a forty two yard explosive.
- 17:57Speaker 5: A fourth and three again to Courtland Sutton where they're
- 18:00Speaker 5: just going for it, and you could see in this
- 18:03Speaker 5: game I mean he missed. He only missed his second throw,
- 18:07Speaker 5: like in the third quarter, and this was an incredible
- 18:10Speaker 5: game where you didn't just see the way that he could.
- 18:13Speaker 7: Make these plays happen, but also.
- 18:16Speaker 5: His situational awareness and the entire team situational awareness. But
- 18:21Speaker 5: really bone Nicks catching it's like a much more veteran
- 18:24Speaker 5: player catching some of these defenders out of a personnel
- 18:28Speaker 5: change with twelve men on the field and snapping the
- 18:29Speaker 5: ball quickly so they get five more yards. The clock
- 18:31Speaker 5: management at the end of the game, the communication between
- 18:34Speaker 5: all of the receivers and the offensive lineman and bone Nicks,
- 18:37Speaker 5: it feels like a mature operation for him only being
- 18:41Speaker 5: in his second season. And like I said, it feels
- 18:44Speaker 5: like coming together at a time where the Denver Broncos
- 18:48Speaker 5: are sending a message to the rest of the NFL
- 18:51Speaker 5: that they are going to be a nightmare to face
- 18:53Speaker 5: in the playoffs, not just because their defense this time,
- 18:56Speaker 5: because also because of their offense.
- 18:57Speaker 6: Yeah, we're expecting and calling for a majority of the
- 18:59Speaker 6: first Oh, here's this rock fight in Denver between two
- 19:02Speaker 6: very good defenses, and al sudden, Jordan Love and bow
- 19:05Speaker 6: Knicks start going crazy. Where you you only saw next
- 19:08Speaker 6: Gen stats only credited the Packers with one quick pressure.
- 19:12Speaker 8: Other than that, it seemed and again.
- 19:15Speaker 5: Because you know, yeah, and I would I gotta say too,
- 19:17Speaker 5: this is where I buy. I'm taking your take on
- 19:19Speaker 5: like next Gen. You know, I love somebody alert because
- 19:22Speaker 5: Micah Parsons was there.
- 19:24Speaker 6: He was there, and Nicks, to his credit, uh and
- 19:28Speaker 6: just like Jordan said, was very imaginative with how to
- 19:31Speaker 6: manipulate the pocket, including on the play where Michael Parsons
- 19:33Speaker 6: got hurt because he got away from Michael Parsons. Yeah,
- 19:36Speaker 6: I'm on that play and kind of forced him to
- 19:37Speaker 6: try to make that move that ultimately injured his left knee.
- 19:41Speaker 6: But so much of this seemed like the culmination of
- 19:45Speaker 6: two seasons of work in play calling between the head
- 19:48Speaker 6: coach who's calling the plays and his young quarter younger
- 19:51Speaker 6: quarterback the most I know Bo played a lot of
- 19:53Speaker 6: college football.
- 19:54Speaker 8: But for for you to.
- 19:57Speaker 6: Have this game in this situation against this Packer's defense
- 20:00Speaker 6: where the screens, yeah, he was hitting on the short
- 20:03Speaker 6: quick passes he had two touchdowns, but the extended plays,
- 20:05Speaker 6: especially on third and fourth down, where Bonnicks was seven
- 20:08Speaker 6: of ten for eighty four yards one hundred and twenty
- 20:10Speaker 6: eight passer rating on third and fourth down in this
- 20:13Speaker 6: game eight point four yards per attempt, Like this is
- 20:16Speaker 6: not dunkin and Duncan Knicks was taking shots down the
- 20:19Speaker 6: field and hitting most of them in the.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Second And this has to be a game where you
- 20:23Speaker 1: say they won because of bo Nix, not with bo Nicks,
- 20:25Speaker 1: because look, their defense literally gave up points on the
- 20:29Speaker 1: first five Packers possession, so the Packers' offense is essentially
- 20:33Speaker 1: destroying them through the first possession of that second half,
- 20:36Speaker 1: and then after that the Broncos defense we expect to
- 20:38Speaker 1: see shows up, but the bow Knicks helps to keep
- 20:41Speaker 1: them in this game. Maybe Sean Payton does too by
- 20:43Speaker 1: going for it on fourth down in two spots late
- 20:46Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter under five minutes to go, showing
- 20:49Speaker 1: faith with in his offense on fourth in short multiple times,
- 20:53Speaker 1: once giving the ball to Alex Prentice like John Payton
- 20:56Speaker 1: loves him a full back.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Like in the biggest of spots.
- 20:58Speaker 1: The other time Bonnicks had had an incompletion on the throw,
- 21:01Speaker 1: but that kept the Packers in the game. But ultimately,
- 21:03Speaker 1: what a what a great team win. And then you
- 21:06Speaker 1: know you're thinking about the Packers Jordan. Long term, it
- 21:10Speaker 1: just feels like they're not going to be at the
- 21:12Speaker 1: same level. And right now they're now behind the Bears
- 21:15Speaker 1: in the in the NFC North, and they're you know,
- 21:18Speaker 1: the chances for the one seed are obviously lesser.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I think they have a chance, but just feels like
- 21:24Speaker 2: they're ceiling.
- 21:24Speaker 1: It's significantly lower without Micah Parsons, to the point where like, Okay,
- 21:28Speaker 1: if you're in the AFC, I might throw you right
- 21:29Speaker 1: near the top of the mix, but you're not. I'm
- 21:31Speaker 1: putting you a level below the Rams and the Seahawks.
- 21:34Speaker 5: And I want to say too, just that it's not
- 21:37Speaker 5: just that you're missing one of the best players in
- 21:39Speaker 5: the NFL today, but also you know, you remember when
- 21:43Speaker 5: he first came in. He came in late before the
- 21:45Speaker 5: start of the season obviously when they made that that move,
- 21:48Speaker 5: and it took them a couple of games to build
- 21:50Speaker 5: a plan around him and to really understand as a group,
- 21:54Speaker 5: because you can't really, you don't have time to do
- 21:56Speaker 5: that during the season. That's what training camp is for,
- 21:58Speaker 5: is to install scheme. Right, you don't have a ton
- 22:00Speaker 5: of time to do that. You run your plays, the
- 22:02Speaker 5: best ones according to the defenses that you face. That's
- 22:05Speaker 5: game planning, but you have to design now and do
- 22:07Speaker 5: something in a sudden change, and that's very.
- 22:10Speaker 7: Hard to do.
- 22:11Speaker 5: And you saw it at first they were it didn't
- 22:13Speaker 5: everyone was playing well individually, but they didn't quite come
- 22:16Speaker 5: together in a way that we really wanted to see
- 22:18Speaker 5: right away. Well, then they started firing on all cylinders,
- 22:20Speaker 5: especially after the bye week, really came together and looked
- 22:23Speaker 5: like one of the best defenses in the NFL were
- 22:24Speaker 5: playing like it. Certainly, now they've got to do another
- 22:27Speaker 5: sudden change, and that's what I think is more significant,
- 22:31Speaker 5: sort of the underlayer of losing a player of that
- 22:34Speaker 5: status because he is the center of a solar system.
- 22:36Speaker 5: When you have a player like that, I saw it
- 22:38Speaker 5: with Aaron Donald for years. When you have a player
- 22:40Speaker 5: who is the center of the solar system, every other
- 22:43Speaker 5: piece falls into orbit around it. And and that is
- 22:47Speaker 5: Micah Parsons. And now you have to figure out how
- 22:49Speaker 5: all of the planets, you know, float around each other
- 22:52Speaker 5: without him, and it's really tough to do, especially in December.
- 22:57Speaker 5: That's it's going to be an enormous test for this
- 22:59Speaker 5: coaching staff.
- 23:00Speaker 2: It will.
- 23:01Speaker 1: And I thought that you know there was a moment
- 23:03Speaker 1: when Love got the ball back down eight.
- 23:06Speaker 2: If he was ever.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Gonna stick himself into that MVP conversation, it would have
- 23:09Speaker 1: been some miracle come back year that's gone. But it
- 23:12Speaker 1: could sort of make and I think that's over with
- 23:15Speaker 1: for Love. Like I it does make me just think
- 23:18Speaker 1: that they're just gonna have to go nuclear on offense,
- 23:21Speaker 1: which it's possible, Josh Jacobs with some crazy awesome plays today,
- 23:25Speaker 1: it's certainly possible. But as Matt Lafleur said today, what
- 23:28Speaker 1: was it If it doesn't hurt, why are we doing this?
- 23:32Speaker 1: Why are we doing this if it doesn't hurt? I mean,
- 23:34Speaker 1: you know you're hurt.
- 23:35Speaker 5: You know you're in trouble where you're on the of
- 23:37Speaker 5: the Shanahan tree. Guys, you're on the side you're vacillating
- 23:41Speaker 5: towards Shanahan Vibe dark ominous. No one knows if we're
- 23:45Speaker 5: going to be here Sunday Vibe versus the peppy, perky
- 23:47Speaker 5: We'll get him next week, Sean McVay vibe. You know,
- 23:50Speaker 5: Matt Lafleur's taking a turn.
- 23:52Speaker 2: No question.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Meanwhile, Sean Payton, remember before the season, I'm saying he
- 23:56Speaker 1: thought he had a Super Bowl team. Well, they're the
- 23:58Speaker 1: one seed with three games to go and that upcoming
- 24:01Speaker 1: game against the Chiefs, and to just like think about that,
- 24:05Speaker 1: it's often about who you play when you play them,
- 24:08Speaker 1: like the Kansas City Chiefs, when you think about who
- 24:09Speaker 1: they play the rest of the season. They have a
- 24:13Speaker 1: game against the Broncos that now just like looks like
- 24:16Speaker 1: a total layup for Denver, whereas before not so much.
- 24:19Speaker 1: All Right, Denver's number one, in part because of what
- 24:23Speaker 1: happened in New England. The Patriots were one half away
- 24:27Speaker 1: from winning the AFC East two weeks before Christmas, but
- 24:32Speaker 1: they couldn't close the deal.
- 24:34Speaker 13: Two tight ends set, but they're split out to the
- 24:36Speaker 13: left with Shakir two on the right in an empty set,
- 24:38Speaker 13: third and goal from the fourteen.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Here's the snap, four man rush.
- 24:42Speaker 13: Allen steps up, fires, and he's got knocks.
- 24:45Speaker 2: In the end zone for a touchdown.
- 24:48Speaker 13: Josh Allen with a laser to Dawson Knox for his
- 24:52Speaker 13: second touchdown reception of the game, and the Bills for
- 24:56Speaker 13: the first time, have come all the way back to
- 24:59Speaker 13: ja the lead oh Chris.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Brown on wg R thirty five to thirty one.
- 25:08Speaker 2: The Bills win this game. And I chose that.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Touchdown in particular because on every third and long, on
- 25:18Speaker 1: every play where the Patriots could just get the Bills
- 25:22Speaker 1: off the field in the second half, Josh Allen did
- 25:25Speaker 1: something awesome. And it wasn't It wasn't just one thing.
- 25:29Speaker 1: There was play making. There was gutsy decision making. I
- 25:33Speaker 1: think the fourth down decision by McDermott to go for
- 25:36Speaker 1: it was obvious enough. But the fourth down decision from
- 25:39Speaker 1: Josh Allen to go for a seamball up the middle
- 25:42Speaker 1: to Khalis Shakir and put a perfectly placed past in
- 25:46Speaker 1: his hands where they called the pass interference. Patrick's making
- 25:50Speaker 1: a face.
- 25:51Speaker 8: I'll pick you up.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Greg to the victor, goes to bold. I mean, like
- 25:55Speaker 1: you know, he was bold. He put it right on him.
- 25:57Speaker 5: A questionable nobody cut the ball anyway, A lot of
- 26:00Speaker 5: those today.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I thought that was an it's a bang bang call,
- 26:04Speaker 2: I think complaining about the calls here. But he caught
- 26:06Speaker 2: the ball.
- 26:07Speaker 1: He caught the ball in the end on that Shakir play,
- 26:09Speaker 1: they ruled that he had the catch before Jones pulled
- 26:12Speaker 1: it away. Either way, whatever, Josh Allen and the Bills
- 26:17Speaker 1: offense were trying to do. They got done in a
- 26:21Speaker 1: span of five straight touchdowns. They go five for five
- 26:25Speaker 1: in the red zone, keeping the Patriots in the last place.
- 26:29Speaker 1: They are the worst red zone defense in the NFL
- 26:31Speaker 1: by a decent amount, and yes, down twenty one to nothing.
- 26:34Speaker 1: It's the first time the Patriots have blown a seventeen
- 26:37Speaker 1: point lead in one hundred and twenty attempts at doing so.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Only Josh Allen could do it. Mike Rabel spoke after
- 26:46Speaker 1: the game about last year's MVP.
- 26:49Speaker 14: Just watch all the games. You know that it's just
- 26:52Speaker 14: the same as it was last week. You had a
- 26:54Speaker 14: guy free weren't able to make to play. Last week's
- 26:57Speaker 14: team had a guy free weren't able to make to play.
- 27:00Speaker 14: It's why I draft him, and it's why I pay
- 27:02Speaker 14: him sixty million dollars.
- 27:05Speaker 8: I don't know what to tell.
- 27:05Speaker 2: You, poor Mike.
- 27:07Speaker 1: That came after about thirty to forty seconds of him
- 27:10Speaker 1: just kind of rattling off a list of reasons why
- 27:13Speaker 1: Josh Allen had him a little resigned. Remind me a
- 27:16Speaker 1: little bit of that Josh Allen playoff game where Bill
- 27:18Speaker 1: Belichick and the Patriots did not force a single stop
- 27:23Speaker 1: of the.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Bills in Josh Allen.
- 27:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I was gonna Actually, I'm glad you brought that up,
- 27:26Speaker 5: because I was like, he's he's feeling a little like
- 27:29Speaker 5: depressed at the podium late stage. Belichick right there, certainly
- 27:33Speaker 5: different vibes overall in New England. It's also really disheartening
- 27:38Speaker 5: to lose like that when according to next Gen Stats,
- 27:41Speaker 5: the Bills had a win probability of just eight percent
- 27:44Speaker 5: at a certain point and they came all the way back.
- 27:47Speaker 5: And I just felt like coming into this game, we
- 27:50Speaker 5: talked earlier this week about the Bills and you just
- 27:52Speaker 5: can't because of Josh Allen and because also of the
- 27:56Speaker 5: variance that this team plays with for the positive in
- 27:58Speaker 5: the second half of games. You can't really count them
- 28:03Speaker 5: out ever, and certainly you could not count them out
- 28:05Speaker 5: of a sweep of a potential sweep.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they were plus ninety four in the second half
- 28:10Speaker 1: of games going into this week. They trailed twenty four
- 28:13Speaker 1: to seven at halftime in this game, so you know,
- 28:17Speaker 1: they make up a seventeen point deficit and win by four.
- 28:20Speaker 1: And that part of it didn't shock me, because like,
- 28:24Speaker 1: the Patriots are a flawed defensive team and the Bills
- 28:27Speaker 1: got it going before halftime with the touchdown drive. I
- 28:30Speaker 1: think they won this game in part because in the
- 28:33Speaker 1: second half of this game, their coverage held up and
- 28:37Speaker 1: they got the Patriots off the field quickly every single drive. Now,
- 28:41Speaker 1: one time they got them off the field quickly because
- 28:43Speaker 1: it was a one play Travon Henderson touchdown that took.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Back the lead.
- 28:47Speaker 1: But overall, it was just the Patriots were living on
- 28:51Speaker 1: the field, and they had a lot of designer stuff
- 28:55Speaker 1: and stunts and everything cooked up early in the game
- 28:57Speaker 1: where they were kind of winning, and I felt like
- 28:59Speaker 1: the Bills and Joe Brady and Josh Allen figured it
- 29:01Speaker 1: out and they relied on their quarterback but also on
- 29:04Speaker 1: James Cook in the second half of that game, and
- 29:05Speaker 1: it felt like a prayer anytime the Patriots were trying
- 29:08Speaker 1: to stop the Buffalo Bills.
- 29:09Speaker 6: After that, I think the big play was made by
- 29:12Speaker 6: Joey Bosa. Yeah, late in this game where the Patriots
- 29:15Speaker 6: had a crucial fourth down, Mike Rabel's going for it,
- 29:20Speaker 6: Drake May and the Patriots had just had a kind
- 29:24Speaker 6: of woeful drive considering how explosive they were. And I
- 29:27Speaker 6: guess it's the plague of all these most explosive offenses
- 29:30Speaker 6: where it's tough to sustain a lead when all you
- 29:34Speaker 6: can do is get giant chunk plays.
- 29:35Speaker 8: The Patriots were doing this entire game.
- 29:37Speaker 6: Where they have Bosa actually drop as a spy, and
- 29:41Speaker 6: of all the difficulty every single Bills defender had in
- 29:44Speaker 6: keeping up with Drake May this entire game, Bosa is
- 29:46Speaker 6: able to get his foot in the ground in the
- 29:48Speaker 6: right moment where there's nowhere for Drake May to go,
- 29:51Speaker 6: and then when May decides to throw over him, he
- 29:53Speaker 6: knocks that pass down, essentially saving the game for the
- 29:56Speaker 6: Buffalo bill.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's such a great point because in the first half,
- 30:00Speaker 1: Drake May and the Patriots coming out of their by
- 30:03Speaker 1: remember that they're coming off that week off. It really
- 30:05Speaker 1: felt like, Okay, we're getting close to the end. Maybe
- 30:08Speaker 1: let's press that Drake May design run and scramble button
- 30:11Speaker 1: a little more than previously. And he had two rushing
- 30:15Speaker 1: touchdowns in the first half of the game after having
- 30:17Speaker 1: two all season long, and he was playing fantastic. There
- 30:20Speaker 1: was a great throw down the sideline to Booty like
- 30:22Speaker 1: mc collins had a couple of nice plays. But you're right,
- 30:24Speaker 1: it's so dependent on the big play hell, let's let's
- 30:28Speaker 1: listen to a moment in time, because I have a
- 30:29Speaker 1: feeling our friend Scott Zolek is gonna have a great
- 30:33Speaker 1: call on the Trayvon Henderson touchdown.
- 30:35Speaker 15: Now, New England goes to work from the I formation,
- 30:37Speaker 15: two receivers to the left with many under center, tosses
- 30:40Speaker 15: it right for Trayvon Henderson.
- 30:42Speaker 2: The Bills haven't defended well. He tries to bounce it
- 30:44Speaker 2: back off to stretch it off.
- 30:45Speaker 16: Party twenty five forty two, beach twenty five to fifty.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Time to get home.
- 30:53Speaker 17: Take to kidding me and like New England, hell's the lead.
- 31:01Speaker 17: I'm sitting here getting riplet because they went toss right
- 31:05Speaker 17: into the mass up the defense.
- 31:07Speaker 18: It's a bad call. The rookie kicks it backside and
- 31:11Speaker 18: your quarterback recognizing and he busts his ass to get
- 31:15Speaker 18: out in front of the steed guy because he's got
- 31:17Speaker 18: wills and he plucks two guys.
- 31:21Speaker 8: You're what is it?
- 31:22Speaker 18: Something that is really starting to come together.
- 31:25Speaker 8: For this team?
- 31:25Speaker 2: Oh man?
- 31:27Speaker 7: That's so good.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Almost as good any reasons as the most lowsome man
- 31:33Speaker 1: in sports media, Dave Fortnite. They send me a video
- 31:36Speaker 1: about how they own the East and there a new
- 31:38Speaker 1: dynasty has started.
- 31:39Speaker 2: In the middle of this game.
- 31:40Speaker 1: It make it they're making it hard to be a
- 31:41Speaker 1: Patriots fan out here, no one who's with you.
- 31:48Speaker 2: And then they blow that game.
- 31:50Speaker 1: But I think it makes sense to me there they're
- 31:53Speaker 1: a young team to sweep the Bills. Man, it doesn't
- 31:57Speaker 1: mean they can't win the division. There's still one up.
- 31:59Speaker 1: That game of against the Ravens looks even bigger next week.
- 32:03Speaker 1: It just makes sense to me to beat a team
- 32:05Speaker 1: like the Bills. And after that Henderson play, by the way,
- 32:08Speaker 1: it was like, man, their defense cannot get off the
- 32:10Speaker 1: field before that, and it's just very methodical. James cook
- 32:13Speaker 1: up the middle up the middle to secure penalty on
- 32:15Speaker 1: Carlton Davis who's struggling, and is just very methodical. The
- 32:19Speaker 1: Bills didn't mind, and they answered, and they are right
- 32:23Speaker 1: near the top of my contenders in the AFC.
- 32:26Speaker 7: I like what you.
- 32:27Speaker 5: Said mentioning the youth of this offense overall, because I
- 32:30Speaker 5: think that the Bills know something and are very practice
- 32:34Speaker 5: and experienced in something, especially with Josh Allen at quarterback,
- 32:37Speaker 5: that the Patriots are still learning and figuring out, which
- 32:39Speaker 5: is the explosive plays are awesome, But if the other
- 32:42Speaker 5: team's strategy is to get the ball back into the
- 32:44Speaker 5: hands of the quarterback as much as possible, your entire
- 32:47Speaker 5: strategy has to be avoiding doing that, which means playing
- 32:50Speaker 5: more ball control on offense. I'm not saying it's not
- 32:53Speaker 5: a good thing to have explosive plays, that's fantastic, obviously,
- 32:56Speaker 5: but balancing those things out with a ball control offense,
- 32:59Speaker 5: you are more than capable of doing it. This quarterback
- 33:01Speaker 5: is capable of doing it. That balance is necessary when
- 33:05Speaker 5: you have an absolute like unit of a weapon on
- 33:07Speaker 5: the other side in Josh Allen, who is going to
- 33:11Speaker 5: make you pay for it if you give him one
- 33:12Speaker 5: more chance to snap it.
- 33:13Speaker 1: I just think these are two really heavy, offensive leaning teams,
- 33:18Speaker 1: and ultimately Allen was better today. Drake May there was
- 33:21Speaker 1: a couple plays in the second half where he makes
- 33:24Speaker 1: a bad throw, he gets away with one interception, he
- 33:27Speaker 1: has an arm punt. I don't mind that decision at
- 33:28Speaker 1: all on a play where Booty goes up for a
- 33:31Speaker 1: pass on third and long. But I think that's a
- 33:34Speaker 1: good point because look, they ran the ball well all day.
- 33:36Speaker 1: It wasn't just big plays. They had a designed success
- 33:37Speaker 1: rate of fifty four percent, but they just couldn't keep
- 33:39Speaker 1: the ball in the second half. Shout out to Josh Allen,
- 33:42Speaker 1: who's not out of the MVP race. Patrick, I think
- 33:45Speaker 1: you should score some points because you know what gets
- 33:47Speaker 1: some extra points when.
- 33:49Speaker 2: The spreadsheet the.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Camera shows you on the sideline puking during a game,
- 33:55Speaker 1: you come back to win on the road.
- 33:57Speaker 2: And that's just what Josh Allen does.
- 34:02Speaker 19: That's I mean, if they don't catch it every game,
- 34:05Speaker 19: I don't know, Like it basically happens every game.
- 34:09Speaker 5: You know.
- 34:09Speaker 19: If I don't get it, get enough out pregame, you know,
- 34:12Speaker 19: it usually happens at halftime. If I don't get enough
- 34:14Speaker 19: at halftime, it usually happens in the third or fourth quarter.
- 34:16Speaker 19: And that's just I don't know why I do it.
- 34:18Speaker 19: It just happens, and it's do it to nothing else
- 34:22Speaker 19: but other than just like a weird feeling, just got
- 34:24Speaker 19: to get it.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Shout out to productive nerves, you know, like the greatest
- 34:27Speaker 1: athletes of all time, they feel it a little bit
- 34:30Speaker 1: and uh just a boot.
- 34:32Speaker 7: And rally the other way.
- 34:35Speaker 2: No question, this Bill's team.
- 34:37Speaker 1: They've turned around since Eric Roberts was in the crowd
- 34:41Speaker 1: watching them. Big day in the MVP conversation, We're going
- 34:45Speaker 1: to get to Matthew Stafford.
- 34:47Speaker 15: After the break, with three tight ends on the field,
- 34:59Speaker 15: they fake that off the corn, they roll right, they
- 35:01Speaker 15: throw to the right flat.
- 35:02Speaker 20: It's called Mitch another touchdown.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Colby Parkinson go off this second.
- 35:09Speaker 8: Story of the day.
- 35:11Speaker 20: The Rams are touch on top by two possessions. It's
- 35:15Speaker 20: a multi touchdown performance for the MVP front runner. Matthew Stafford,
- 35:22Speaker 20: a cat just former franchise.
- 35:26Speaker 1: If it's a day that ends and why it's a
- 35:29Speaker 1: Colby Parkinson touchdown day and a great call by JB.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Long Day on KSPN when he said MVP can it?
- 35:36Speaker 1: I thought like, all right, let's slow down. Parkinson's been good,
- 35:40Speaker 1: but that's a little much. Matthew Stafford goes for three
- 35:43Speaker 1: sixty eight and a couple of touchdowns in a game
- 35:46Speaker 1: that the Rams trailed by two scores in the second quarter.
- 35:51Speaker 1: They get a field goal right before halftime Patrick to
- 35:54Speaker 1: cut it to one touchdown and then they roll second
- 35:57Speaker 1: straight week. They go over was it four hundred yards
- 36:01Speaker 1: and forty points? Five hundred yards and they win the
- 36:04Speaker 1: game forty one to thirty four. What impressed you the
- 36:07Speaker 1: most out of these rams.
- 36:09Speaker 6: It was the Colby Parkinson game. Who makes a play
- 36:12Speaker 6: in the first half where you and I are going
- 36:14Speaker 6: in the next gen stats to try to figure out
- 36:16Speaker 6: what's going on with Aiden Hutchinson who has a turnover
- 36:18Speaker 6: in Aidon Hutchinson's running free nothing but green turf in
- 36:21Speaker 6: front of Aiden Hutchinson. He hit a top speed of
- 36:23Speaker 6: eighteen point five six miles per hour. Kobe Parkinson put
- 36:27Speaker 6: up a twenty on the mph and chased him down
- 36:30Speaker 6: the big tight end that comes up with that. After that,
- 36:33Speaker 6: he has two touchdowns in a game where Davante Adams
- 36:37Speaker 6: leaves with a hamstring injury, not sure about the status
- 36:40Speaker 6: long term. They're a scary one in Puka Nakua in
- 36:43Speaker 6: and out of this game in spots where this Lion's
- 36:46Speaker 6: defense and Kelvin Joseph have a plan that bothers quarterbacks
- 36:52Speaker 6: and it has bothered them to the extent where Matthew
- 36:55Speaker 6: Stafford missed an absolute layup to Ferguson in this first
- 36:59Speaker 6: half where Stafford it's that ninety nine out of one
- 37:01Speaker 6: hundred times. But the Lions were scrappy and unfortunately for
- 37:05Speaker 6: Jared Goff, who famously on Fantasy Live Adam Rank calls
- 37:08Speaker 6: an indoor cat. He's got an indoor game at Sofi Stadium.
- 37:11Speaker 6: But he's not beating the pressure allegations because his first
- 37:14Speaker 6: half was great, two hundred and twenty one yards, three touchdowns.
- 37:18Speaker 6: He was not hit, and Young and Verse combined had
- 37:22Speaker 6: one pressure in the first half. In the second half
- 37:25Speaker 6: you get a sack from Young, excuse me, from Kobe Turner.
- 37:31Speaker 6: After that considerable difference, Like post sac, the game goes
- 37:36Speaker 6: the other ways. The Rams keep marching down the field,
- 37:38Speaker 6: Nakua comes back in again. Puka's in and out of
- 37:41Speaker 6: the entire second half. But there was one drive in
- 37:44Speaker 6: this game where Sean mcavay goes for it on fourth
- 37:46Speaker 6: down twice. Both of those fourth downs Stafford to Nikua
- 37:52Speaker 6: converts there in Great game by Blake Korum, Great game
- 37:56Speaker 6: by Karen Williams. The run game a little bit of
- 37:58Speaker 6: the difference there. But you have to talk about this
- 38:01Speaker 6: Rams pass rush down because Emmanuel Forbes got put in
- 38:05Speaker 6: some really rough situations. The Lions had a chance to
- 38:07Speaker 6: make this a closer game. Fourth and one on the
- 38:11Speaker 6: goal line. It is Emmanuel Forbes right there on Aman
- 38:14Speaker 6: Ross Saint Brown, Jared Goff everybody in the stadium knew
- 38:17Speaker 6: exactly where that ball was going. Unfortunately, the Stripes officiated
- 38:20Speaker 6: Emmanuel Forbes in the same way that Riley Moss has
- 38:22Speaker 6: been getting officiated all season long, where there wasn't a
- 38:26Speaker 6: whole lot there. They get the flag and they get
- 38:28Speaker 6: a David Montgomery touchdown, but too much Puka and Stafford
- 38:32Speaker 6: late as the Rams are.
- 38:33Speaker 8: Able to do.
- 38:33Speaker 2: You know what's crazy is like Puka can go for
- 38:35Speaker 2: nine for one one.
- 38:37Speaker 7: And miss half the game.
- 38:38Speaker 1: It's just that and also that we're not talking about
- 38:41Speaker 1: him for him VP and his season is just absolutely
- 38:47Speaker 1: outrageous because it's the big plays and the crazy catches,
- 38:50Speaker 1: but because it's those fourth downs as well, like a
- 38:52Speaker 1: couple like one of them, I know was a really
- 38:55Speaker 1: difficult contested catch, and this dude, it's just carrying like
- 39:03Speaker 1: an offense as much as you can carry an offense.
- 39:04Speaker 1: When obviously Stafford is the MVP candidate, and I think
- 39:08Speaker 1: he's the clear front runner now with three weeks to
- 39:11Speaker 1: go in an offense where Devontae Adams is scoring all
- 39:14Speaker 1: those touchdowns, but now we don't know how long he's
- 39:16Speaker 1: going to be out with a hamstring injury. It'd obviously
- 39:18Speaker 1: be very surprising if he plays on Thursday night. But
- 39:22Speaker 1: it's just another Lions game where I think, Okay, we're
- 39:26Speaker 1: getting used to the fact that the other good NFC
- 39:28Speaker 1: teams have significantly better run games and have better defenses,
- 39:33Speaker 1: and so, yeah, like Jared Gofflig, he has to try
- 39:36Speaker 1: to keep up in a shootout. But it's just not
- 39:38Speaker 1: The Lions aren't as good at the other stuff this year.
- 39:40Speaker 1: And the defense, which looked great for a while, like
- 39:43Speaker 1: the floor, has kind of fallen out the last month.
- 39:45Speaker 2: And a half.
- 39:46Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's some of its personnel, right, because they
- 39:48Speaker 5: yes a lot of it. Yeah, and they've been so
- 39:51Speaker 5: injured on the back end, and I think that especially
- 39:55Speaker 5: once they were able.
- 39:57Speaker 7: To sort of sift through.
- 39:59Speaker 5: What the coverage is, we're doing when Matthew Stafford and
- 40:01Speaker 5: some of their route combinations that the Rams were using.
- 40:03Speaker 7: You saw, of course, you saw their thirteen.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Personnel and you saw they were using the tight ends
- 40:07Speaker 5: a lot, which does give them a significant, I think,
- 40:10Speaker 5: size advantage. But also you saw them mess around with
- 40:13Speaker 5: like two two at well was in there a little bit.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Connaught Samley he's back.
- 40:16Speaker 8: Yeah, a big catch as well.
- 40:17Speaker 5: Yeah, a great catch it was like scooping an inch
- 40:20Speaker 5: off the ground type of catch. It was incredible on
- 40:23Speaker 5: the sideline and it was it was also using both
- 40:26Speaker 5: running backs and it was also it was just throwing
- 40:28Speaker 5: everything you possibly could at this Lion's defense. Obviously, the
- 40:32Speaker 5: significance of this win is not lost on anyone in
- 40:36Speaker 5: that building, not just because the history between the two
- 40:38Speaker 5: teams organizationally, but also the Rams clinched a playoff spot
- 40:42Speaker 5: by winning this game, so it is certain that they
- 40:45Speaker 5: will go to the postseason. And they built themselves to
- 40:48Speaker 5: do this. This is why they built in so much
- 40:51Speaker 5: variety into this offense.
- 40:52Speaker 7: And the one weak.
- 40:53Speaker 5: Spot that we've been talking about all year again showed
- 40:57Speaker 5: up over and over and over again because when they're
- 41:00Speaker 5: there's no pressure. And in the first half the Rams
- 41:02Speaker 5: front as great as they are, but we're really struggling
- 41:04Speaker 5: to get pressure.
- 41:05Speaker 7: To Patrick's point, and.
- 41:07Speaker 5: They played that that zone that they like to play
- 41:09Speaker 5: in the back, and they the lines receivers were just
- 41:12Speaker 5: getting explosive after explosive after explosive against these guys. A
- 41:16Speaker 5: Kello Witherspoon was a healthy scratch, so Aka was benched,
- 41:20Speaker 5: and so it's Emmanuel Forbes and it's no Quinton Lake,
- 41:22Speaker 5: who they badly miss in the middle of the field
- 41:24Speaker 5: directing traffic. And it is Darius Williams, and it is
- 41:28Speaker 5: Kobe Durant, who's been really great when he's been good,
- 41:31Speaker 5: but can sometimes get picked on a little bit too
- 41:34Speaker 5: when he's not having a good game. And it's it's
- 41:37Speaker 5: like a rotating planet safety and basically if you can't
- 41:41Speaker 5: get enough pressure, these corners are in trouble and teams
- 41:44Speaker 5: know it and they try to key in on it.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Ollie Connelly, who does a Saturday show, noted, you know,
- 41:49Speaker 1: in the second half they went fifty four percent single high.
- 41:52Speaker 1: They went from kind of the split safeties they usually
- 41:53Speaker 1: have and they go single high just to put some
- 41:55Speaker 1: numbers on it, and that that really helped on the
- 41:58Speaker 1: back end. You mentioned Kobe Hell, let's let's actually watch
- 42:01Speaker 1: a tough moment for him. It was Jamison Williams's second touchdown.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Jamison Williams and the Dan Campbell play Colera era is
- 42:08Speaker 1: freaking insane. Seven for one thirty four in a touchdown.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I'm on Rago's thirteen for one to sixty four. I
- 42:12Speaker 1: mean they're putting up fantasy numbers while while the run
- 42:14Speaker 1: game for the Lions is not. But yeah, just just
- 42:16Speaker 1: watch the Durant dive at the end of this absolute
- 42:20Speaker 1: dime by Jared Goff long count.
- 42:23Speaker 18: There's the snap Jared back, Jared looking looking growing, White
- 42:26Speaker 18: side wants.
- 42:26Speaker 13: Jame oenzil god touchdown detroit lyve Wow baby one a
- 42:32Speaker 13: dive from sixteen thirty one yards on the connection Kobe
- 42:35Speaker 13: Durant coverage but Jame old plus right by him.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I had one of the best celebrations of the year
- 42:41Speaker 1: to the forty yard dash. Everyone wants to see was
- 42:44Speaker 1: seeing Jamier Gibbs and Jameson Williams, but the dive by Durant,
- 42:47Speaker 1: he was like fifteen yards away.
- 42:48Speaker 8: Face it was.
- 42:49Speaker 6: It was top five futility dives of all time. If
- 42:52Speaker 6: folks want to go back and watch that play because
- 42:54Speaker 6: there's no chance it gets to that ball. But nobody's
- 42:57Speaker 6: going to be mad at you in the fill room,
- 42:58Speaker 6: like that's that's selling out for no reason.
- 43:00Speaker 8: But let's selling out.
- 43:01Speaker 5: Jamo's gotten really creative with the celebrations. Patrick and I
- 43:03Speaker 5: were talking earlier in the day, right right as the
- 43:06Speaker 5: game started in a great a big first down conversion,
- 43:08Speaker 5: and he pretended to pick his nose through like the
- 43:11Speaker 5: sort of like scarf thing or face mask thing that
- 43:14Speaker 5: he wears, pretended to pick his nose and flick it,
- 43:17Speaker 5: but pointed the first down conversion as the flick.
- 43:20Speaker 2: It's amazing.
- 43:21Speaker 7: I like, why I never seen that one before. That's
- 43:23Speaker 7: pretty great.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Jamo always entertaining. I think this was as big a
- 43:28Speaker 1: win for the Rams as it was as crushing a
- 43:31Speaker 1: loss for the Lions, because I know people kind of
- 43:33Speaker 1: had this choked up, and there's a long way to go.
- 43:35Speaker 1: They are two losses behind, a game and a half
- 43:39Speaker 1: behind the Packers now for the seventh seed. The forty
- 43:42Speaker 1: nine Ers are a couple losses ahead, and they have
- 43:45Speaker 1: an uphill battle now to make the playoffs. And the
- 43:48Speaker 1: Rams now back into the first seed at least for now.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Thursday Night pending, would the Seahawks do their part and
- 43:57Speaker 1: take out Philip Rivers and set up a great Thursday
- 44:00Speaker 1: night game.
- 44:01Speaker 9: Seahawks Rams first and ten eleven seconds Taylor in the backfield.
- 44:08Speaker 8: Four Rivers takes the snap, four man rush. Rivers gonna
- 44:12Speaker 8: throw down.
- 44:12Speaker 2: The scene gonna be intercepted.
- 44:15Speaker 17: They're not gonna do it.
- 44:17Speaker 16: Fall is high to the intended receiver in his pick
- 44:20Speaker 16: off by Kobe Bryant and he races the south end
- 44:26Speaker 16: zone gives fourth interception of the season, a career high
- 44:30Speaker 16: the Seahawks defense. They nail it on the second to
- 44:36Speaker 16: last play of the game, picking off Philip Rivers.
- 44:41Speaker 2: Oh, our beautiful boy was so close. Our beautiful Grandpa.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Philip Rivers directed a drive These are facts in the
- 44:52Speaker 1: fourth quarter of a National Football League game against the
- 44:56Speaker 1: number one defense according to DVA, that led to a
- 45:02Speaker 1: field goal being kicked to take the lead with under
- 45:07Speaker 1: a minute and a half to go. How dare the
- 45:11Speaker 1: Seahawks score too quickly to even set him up for
- 45:13Speaker 1: that interception? Throwing over ten yards was not going to
- 45:18Speaker 1: be Philip Rivers' strength today, we learned that, but he
- 45:21Speaker 1: did have them in position to win the game. Ultimately,
- 45:25Speaker 1: Seahawks pull it out eighteen to sixteen in a field
- 45:29Speaker 1: goal fest for the Colts. I'm torn on what to
- 45:34Speaker 1: think about the Seahawks side of things, so let's just
- 45:37Speaker 1: start on Phil. How did it make you feel, Patrick
- 45:39Speaker 1: to see to see this man who was in the
- 45:42Speaker 1: NFL when you were just like cutting your teeth as
- 45:44Speaker 1: like a college reporter making passes out there.
- 45:48Speaker 8: It was great.
- 45:48Speaker 6: It made me think about n C State and Ta
- 45:50Speaker 6: McClinton and all those guys playing for the Wolfpack with
- 45:53Speaker 6: Philip Rivers. No, but to be perfectly honest, just to
- 45:56Speaker 6: see the release of the back bettle. Obviously the physical
- 45:59Speaker 6: stature is not necessarily the same for Philip Rivers, but
- 46:02Speaker 6: to see him operating the offense, to see the way
- 46:04Speaker 6: the team and yeah, I joke about the team try
- 46:07Speaker 6: and harp to see these guys rally around Philip Rivers,
- 46:09Speaker 6: especially the Colts that were there back in twenty twenty.
- 46:13Speaker 6: And I think about that final possession where it's a
- 46:16Speaker 6: third and five and Philip Rivers is thinking, you.
- 46:19Speaker 8: Know, hey, the world's like, what's Philip Rivers got?
- 46:21Speaker 6: And he checks to the draw because he believed in
- 46:24Speaker 6: Jonathan Taylor and Shane Steiken sends out the kicker because
- 46:27Speaker 6: he believed in the decision that Philip Rivers made at
- 46:30Speaker 6: that point. And it comes through and it makes it
- 46:33Speaker 6: even more frustrating the way that things ended, because that's
- 46:36Speaker 6: storybook stuff.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I misspoke when I said under ninety seconds ago
- 46:40Speaker 1: the Blake groupie hit a sixty yard field goal in
- 46:43Speaker 1: Seattle to take the lead with fifty two seconds to go.
- 46:48Speaker 1: It was third and seven and yeah, Rivers checks to
- 46:51Speaker 1: a run there. I think he saw a look. He
- 46:53Speaker 1: gave it to his best player, you know, Taylor picks
- 46:57Speaker 1: up four yards in the moment. I was talking to you,
- 47:01Speaker 1: it's tricky because you're going against the Seahawks defense, but
- 47:04Speaker 1: I would go for the fourth and three.
- 47:06Speaker 5: You're laughing, Jordan, No, I'm I agree with you. Yes,
- 47:10Speaker 5: I love I love the group you made this kick
- 47:12Speaker 5: that was You're gonna need every single person to be
- 47:15Speaker 5: at their best on this team for this Colts team
- 47:18Speaker 5: to pick themselves back up. And that's certainly what you
- 47:20Speaker 5: saw today. But we were just talking before. It's like, listen,
- 47:24Speaker 5: we're getting the Philip Rivers experience here, and so why
- 47:27Speaker 5: don't we just go all in, tush push do it.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Yes, Well, it's funny because I saw a lot of
- 47:33Speaker 1: body shaming for poor Phil today.
- 47:35Speaker 2: You know, a little bit of a dad boss.
- 47:36Speaker 7: Anyway, he was set up for failure.
- 47:38Speaker 2: He was also wearing that petion. I don't know.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Over on Blue Sky there was a lot of Hank
- 47:42Speaker 1: Hank Hill backside comparisons to to Philip Rivers' body, which
- 47:46Speaker 1: I don't think.
- 47:46Speaker 5: Is he was set up for failure. The white uniforms
- 47:49Speaker 5: will set you up for failure.
- 47:50Speaker 7: I couldn't time, I.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Couldn't unsee it.
- 47:52Speaker 1: But it was a fascinating game management game overall, Like
- 47:56Speaker 1: at the end of the first half, at the end
- 47:57Speaker 1: of the second half. And so the decision there is,
- 47:59Speaker 1: do you have a better chance of picking up those
- 48:02Speaker 1: three yards and getting to finish with the ball and
- 48:05Speaker 1: whatever the groopye field goal attempt is gonna be, or
- 48:07Speaker 1: the chance of winning first group, He's gotta hit the
- 48:10Speaker 1: kick and then you got to get the stop. And
- 48:13Speaker 1: even though they didn't give up a touchdown all day,
- 48:16Speaker 1: it felt like as the game wore on, the Seahawks
- 48:19Speaker 1: were certainly moving the ball better and better. And I
- 48:22Speaker 1: had very little faith with this new kickoff rule that
- 48:25Speaker 1: the Colts defense was gonna prevent the Seahawks from hitting
- 48:27Speaker 1: a field goal, and they did. You know, it took
- 48:29Speaker 1: a couple plays for them to be in field goal range.
- 48:32Speaker 1: They did stop them. So they got that like one
- 48:34Speaker 1: or two plays at the very end. But it's not
- 48:37Speaker 1: a decision I can kill either way. I think I
- 48:40Speaker 1: think it was just a very difficult decision, and Groupie
- 48:42Speaker 1: made him look better, and ultimately his defense, which played
- 48:47Speaker 1: awesome today, like played their hearts out, just couldn't get
- 48:50Speaker 1: a stop. And Jackson Smith and Jigba put another like
- 48:55Speaker 1: credit to him on the offensive player of the Year
- 48:57Speaker 1: Canvasy because it was his big catch and run that
- 49:00Speaker 1: set them up in the second half, and it was
- 49:02Speaker 1: a really key catch where he gets open to help
- 49:04Speaker 1: set up that game winning field goal.
- 49:06Speaker 2: So it's just good ball.
- 49:07Speaker 1: The fact that Philip Rivers was in this game, I mean,
- 49:09Speaker 1: they were thirteen and a half point underdogs.
- 49:11Speaker 2: Let's give the man some credit.
- 49:12Speaker 8: Absolutely, and a lot of credit going to lou Anarromo.
- 49:15Speaker 6: Yeah, because maybe even more as far as a defensive play,
- 49:17Speaker 6: college performance and the way that leatu Altu played and
- 49:21Speaker 6: getting pressure on Sam Donald and this Colts defense as
- 49:25Speaker 6: a whole. They hold Donald to a negative four completion
- 49:29Speaker 6: percentage over expected. They were five of thirteen on third down,
- 49:32Speaker 6: which I also think plays into the field goal decision.
- 49:34Speaker 6: Like all right, lou all right, everybody, boys, you guys
- 49:37Speaker 6: have almost pitched the shutout essentially against an offense that
- 49:40Speaker 6: was screaming up and down the field the first ten
- 49:42Speaker 6: weeks of the season.
- 49:44Speaker 8: They just couldn't about ten more yards.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the problem was I think because of the game
- 49:48Speaker 1: situation was like the second half of this game, and
- 49:50Speaker 1: even really how the first half ended nine play drive
- 49:53Speaker 1: by Seattle, eleven play drive by Seattle. Then the Colts
- 49:56Speaker 1: did have a good drive to force a punt, but
- 49:58Speaker 1: then an eight play drive from eleven play drive from Seattle,
- 50:01Speaker 1: and that's what set up that final sequence. So they
- 50:04Speaker 1: were moving the ball and look, Rivers's arm strength was
- 50:10Speaker 1: not there compared to where we last saw him, and
- 50:13Speaker 1: it obviously wasn't like an upper tier strength for him
- 50:16Speaker 1: even then. But he made good decisions, he avoided mistakes,
- 50:21Speaker 1: and I think he managed the game, and he even
- 50:24Speaker 1: had a touchdown pass it was all worth it.
- 50:28Speaker 10: Third down and three at the seven yard line, Rivers
- 50:32Speaker 10: backs into.
- 50:32Speaker 8: The shotgun, looking over.
- 50:34Speaker 11: That defense full on the play clock, takes a step
- 50:36Speaker 11: three step drop, looking rolls.
- 50:38Speaker 18: Inside the five, touchdown for the Colts, and it's touchdowns
- 50:43Speaker 18: across the goal line. Touchdown id why.
- 50:48Speaker 11: And the Colts now are on top twelve to three man.
- 50:51Speaker 8: Philip Rivers came off the Colts. It came out here
- 50:54Speaker 8: for down.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Awesome call there by bat Taylor and Charles Arbuckle on
- 50:59Speaker 1: W and I and Rivers stild the broadcast team on Saturday.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, could He told him I could get
- 51:06Speaker 1: killed out there tomorrow.
- 51:07Speaker 2: It could go horribly.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I know, the Hall of Fame thing, like I pushed
- 51:11Speaker 1: that five years back. But he said on Saturday it
- 51:14Speaker 1: has all been worth it because I had so much
- 51:16Speaker 1: fun this week practicing with everyone. So it's really got
- 51:20Speaker 1: to be worth it for him now. And it does
- 51:22Speaker 1: make me even more interested to watch Mounday night football
- 51:25Speaker 1: against the forty nine ers. It's got to be a
- 51:27Speaker 1: tough one against the Jaguars, and then you're at Houston.
- 51:30Speaker 1: It's a brutal slate of games for Philip Rivers, but
- 51:35Speaker 1: he's going to entertain us at least.
- 51:36Speaker 7: How will his body feel tomorrow?
- 51:40Speaker 2: Not great.
- 51:41Speaker 1: He did get rid of the ball as quickly as
- 51:43Speaker 1: he could, but he still took, you know, a hand
- 51:45Speaker 1: more than a handful of hits in this game it
- 51:47Speaker 1: was against.
- 51:48Speaker 6: Seattle, including one from the logo where he takes a
- 51:52Speaker 6: step back into the logo, slips down, but to his credit,
- 51:55Speaker 6: gets back up and gets a few yards where it's
- 51:59Speaker 6: like you see the spry, the spry forty four year
- 52:02Speaker 6: old doesn't even know his own way.
- 52:05Speaker 8: Shout out to Philip.
- 52:05Speaker 7: Rivers, what's that mean?
- 52:06Speaker 5: Where it's like the player is twenty nine, he's like, oh,
- 52:11Speaker 5: he's the older than dirt. He's out, And then all
- 52:15Speaker 5: of the rest of us, like normal people, are thinking, oh,
- 52:18Speaker 5: that's really that's great.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Well to you, Philip Rivers is older than dirt.
- 52:22Speaker 7: Yeah, to me, he's like your status.
- 52:23Speaker 2: He's still a couple of years younger.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I was already a cover in the league when he
- 52:28Speaker 1: was getting drafted. Unfortunately, look Seahawks, this first half offense
- 52:32Speaker 1: being a little slugg as Sam Donald's certainly not playing
- 52:34Speaker 1: nearly as well as the first half. It's a thing
- 52:37Speaker 1: the running game not being quite as consistent over the
- 52:40Speaker 1: last two weeks. I know they played great in the
- 52:41Speaker 1: second half last week. It's a thing just like the
- 52:43Speaker 1: Rams secondary is there bugaboo, yeah, Sam darnel on and
- 52:47Speaker 1: overall this offense is not up there with the elites.
- 52:50Speaker 1: But can their defense make up for it? I think
- 52:51Speaker 1: all these NFC teams have one issue. This is an
- 52:54Speaker 1: eleven in three team. They had an over undergoing into
- 52:56Speaker 1: the year of eight and a half wins. They're awesome.
- 52:59Speaker 1: I almost see too much negativity from the Seahawks fans
- 53:02Speaker 1: of like, oh, they're not real contenders.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Why not?
- 53:04Speaker 1: We'll find out on Thursday night. In the meantime, let's
- 53:07Speaker 1: talk about another team that could be a contender.
- 53:10Speaker 2: The Baltimore Ravens play clock at one.
- 53:13Speaker 10: Burrow takes a snap drop the throat, let's pressure coming.
- 53:16Speaker 8: It's intercepted at the five.
- 53:18Speaker 9: Cony hands them off to Gilman, on to their sideline, Aloie.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Gilman in midfield.
- 53:23Speaker 9: He's gone forty thirty twenty ten touch down Riven Hello,
- 53:30Speaker 9: he Gilman and with seven thirty eight left, top play
- 53:34Speaker 9: in Cincinnati the Hazel the Bar.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Love that call by Jerry Sandusky on w b A
- 53:43Speaker 1: L one of those most mature, responsible handoff slash laterals
- 53:49Speaker 1: from a defensive player of all time.
- 53:51Speaker 7: Please take this, Oh.
- 53:54Speaker 6: I don't want this right now, just an easy The
- 53:57Speaker 6: Bengals don't seem to be trying right now.
- 54:00Speaker 8: You take this. He was trying to hand the ball
- 54:02Speaker 8: all for twelve.
- 54:02Speaker 7: Yards, so self aware.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I absolutely love it.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Compare it to a Giant's interception later in the day,
- 54:09Speaker 1: where there's three laterals where they're just winging it out there.
- 54:12Speaker 2: That was awesome.
- 54:13Speaker 7: Baton. It was like it was like running the four hundred.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Such a weird game here, twenty four to nothing. The
- 54:20Speaker 1: Ravens win a much needed win. Lamar Jackson only threw
- 54:24Speaker 1: the ball twelve times in this game. That's all he
- 54:25Speaker 1: had to patrick. He still ended up with a couple
- 54:27Speaker 1: of touchdowns in one hundred and fifty yards. How you
- 54:30Speaker 1: feeling after a shutout victory? A little revenge for your Ravens.
- 54:34Speaker 6: The first thing I wrote when I got the game
- 54:37Speaker 6: assignment and I had my trusty notebook. I've been tryingling
- 54:39Speaker 6: to channel Greg Rosenthal with mixed results because I forget
- 54:42Speaker 6: how bad my handwriting is.
- 54:43Speaker 5: I was going to say, I'm looking okay.
- 54:46Speaker 1: That took me a couple of years. I just write
- 54:48Speaker 1: in all caps. Now it looks like a serial killer,
- 54:50Speaker 1: but then I could read it.
- 54:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I struggle with my own because I know it's bad.
- 54:53Speaker 6: Can the Ravens win without a pass rush? The Ravens
- 54:56Speaker 6: got a pass rush today to the extent where Joe
- 54:58Speaker 6: Burrow had one of them worst games I've ever seen
- 55:01Speaker 6: Joe Burrow play. He was shut out for the first
- 55:03Speaker 6: time as a professional. You gotta go back to the
- 55:05Speaker 6: season before, they had the greatest offensive season in college
- 55:08Speaker 6: football history against the University of Alabama, the last time
- 55:12Speaker 6: Burrow had a team where he plays the game and
- 55:14Speaker 6: they get and they get shut out where they were
- 55:16Speaker 6: dominant early. Jamar Chase had a turnover in this game.
- 55:19Speaker 6: Alt credit Jamar Chase with a turnover because the pass
- 55:22Speaker 6: rush gets to Joe Burrow, the arm angle changes, so
- 55:25Speaker 6: Chase jumps early because he's expecting he's, you know, he's
- 55:28Speaker 6: played with Joe Burrow a lot that that ball is
- 55:30Speaker 6: going to get there.
- 55:31Speaker 8: The ball's a little fluffy.
- 55:32Speaker 6: He jumps late, ball goes off his hands, it's intercepted
- 55:34Speaker 6: by Marlon Humphrey, and thinking it's going to go back
- 55:37Speaker 6: and forth because Lamar has a repe Goldberg interception of
- 55:40Speaker 6: his own where he throws.
- 55:41Speaker 8: A pretty nice ball to Zachers.
- 55:43Speaker 6: Yeah, shout out to Rube Goldberg and all those machines
- 55:45Speaker 6: where Zay Flowers boots the ball to Jordan Battle and
- 55:49Speaker 6: I'm thinking, oh, here we go. The Ravens are gonna
- 55:51Speaker 6: have weird turnovers again. It's gonna be back and forth. No,
- 55:54Speaker 6: that's essentially it. Baltimore plays a pretty clean game on
- 55:57Speaker 6: offense in a dominant game on the d defensive side
- 56:00Speaker 6: of the ball, where Mike Green, who it's been like missing.
- 56:04Speaker 6: Is Mike Green gonna eventually make a play? It would
- 56:06Speaker 6: be worth all this, you know, the consternation of bringing
- 56:09Speaker 6: m onto the franchise, considering the questions for the draft,
- 56:12Speaker 6: and you know he contributes with a sack. They get
- 56:15Speaker 6: multiple pressures from all types of guys and the Ravens
- 56:18Speaker 6: have a dominant win.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Yeah, full team win too.
- 56:21Speaker 1: In the second half of this game, I'm surprised the
- 56:23Speaker 1: Ravens Russ success rate isn't higher than forty seven percent
- 56:26Speaker 1: because in the second half they were starting to blow
- 56:28Speaker 1: open big holes for Keaton Mitchell, who ends up with
- 56:30Speaker 1: sixty six yards and then Derrick Henry who had kind
- 56:33Speaker 1: of a nice runway during it.
- 56:35Speaker 2: And look that.
- 56:36Speaker 1: I know the Bengals defense is bad, but the Bengals
- 56:38Speaker 1: offensive line had been playing well, and certainly Joe Burrow
- 56:41Speaker 1: had been playing well leading into this game. It is interesting,
- 56:45Speaker 1: and we're going to listen to Joe Burrow's comments during
- 56:48Speaker 1: the week to just think about this performance in the
- 56:51Speaker 1: context of these comments.
- 56:53Speaker 2: These are actually from Wednesday.
- 56:55Speaker 21: I want to keep doing this. I have to have
- 56:57Speaker 21: fun doing it. You know, I've been through a lot
- 57:02Speaker 21: and if it's not fun, then what am I doing
- 57:04Speaker 21: it for? So let's the mindset I'm trying to bring
- 57:10Speaker 21: to the table.
- 57:11Speaker 8: Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but seemed frustrated.
- 57:15Speaker 21: There's just a lot of things going on right now.
- 57:17Speaker 21: A lot of things going on right.
- 57:18Speaker 8: Now, all related personally.
- 57:20Speaker 21: I'll do both.
- 57:22Speaker 1: So Joe Burrow addressed that after this game, and he said,
- 57:26Speaker 1: you know, his comments had nothing to do with with Cincinnati,
- 57:28Speaker 1: everything to do with my mindset in football. He also
- 57:31Speaker 1: pointed out look last week where he seemed very resigned.
- 57:34Speaker 2: That was a weird press conference too. After the game
- 57:37Speaker 2: last week.
- 57:37Speaker 1: We seemed very resigned for Joe Burrow after the game,
- 57:41Speaker 1: just kind of accepting.
- 57:42Speaker 2: I guess it's just not our year.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Hey, you know, he pointed out he thought he played
- 57:45Speaker 1: near perfect last week and that this week was one
- 57:48Speaker 1: of the worst games that he's ever played. And it's
- 57:52Speaker 1: just a lot. I don't know, what do you think
- 57:54Speaker 1: is going on here?
- 57:57Speaker 6: I think that on the outside, there's been questions about
- 58:02Speaker 6: the long term viability of Zach Taylor as the head
- 58:04Speaker 6: coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. I think if if the
- 58:07Speaker 6: coach's job is anything, it's it's to manage the way
- 58:10Speaker 6: that the players are coming into the game plan the
- 58:12Speaker 6: way that the players are feeling throughout the week. The
- 58:15Speaker 6: Bengals went through a lot as Joe Burrow has to
- 58:18Speaker 6: get back to this point, and I know that the
- 58:21Speaker 6: end of the the game and the loss to Buffalo
- 58:23Speaker 6: was frustrated. He had those he had to pick to six,
- 58:25Speaker 6: He had back to back weeks with a pick six
- 58:27Speaker 6: and the Eloie Gilman reluctant not unreluctant handoff from Kyle
- 58:30Speaker 6: van Noy on that play where I know he says
- 58:36Speaker 6: that it's you know, it's not Cincinnati related. I don't
- 58:39Speaker 6: think it's related to the land mass and the people
- 58:42Speaker 6: in pay Corse Stadium on the day, but perhaps related
- 58:45Speaker 6: to one in particular.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Fair and it can't be really about ownership because he
- 58:51Speaker 1: signed that kyr Not that you couldn't be frustrated a
- 58:54Speaker 1: little bit, But I think he's in it in Cincinnati.
- 58:56Speaker 1: I think that that's a fair read, although I point
- 59:00Speaker 1: a little finger at ownership. We actually have a picture,
- 59:03Speaker 1: I believe, of the un snowed you know, seats at
- 59:09Speaker 1: the game courtesy of Nick Westling's sister in law. Despite
- 59:14Speaker 1: this being an audio medium, some people do watch on YouTube.
- 59:17Speaker 1: You can actually see the unshoveled seats and shout out
- 59:22Speaker 1: to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. You know, sometimes
- 59:25Speaker 1: it seems a little overly litigious, but.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Pointing out that it's an NFL rule, you gotta you
- 59:29Speaker 2: gotta get the snow off those seat, those seats, Mike Brown,
- 59:32Speaker 2: You're making everyone show up in like zero degree wind, chail,
- 59:35Speaker 2: and you can't even get the seats clean for the
- 59:38Speaker 2: poor Bengals fans out there. Give me a break. Yeah,
- 59:41Speaker 2: it's just like, come on, this is it's a professional
- 59:44Speaker 2: football Yeah.
- 59:45Speaker 5: And I think it's when you're the quarterback you represent that,
- 59:49Speaker 5: you know, I think it's a lot to think about
- 59:52Speaker 5: if you're Joe Burrow, like what exactly it is that
- 59:54Speaker 5: you're representing, and what exactly it is that you're the
- 59:57Speaker 5: face of. And certainly you can, I think and probably should,
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: in some ways criticize the push and pull of power
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: that gets him, you know, the players he wants, but
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: the team is also not capable of being constructed in
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: clearly in a functional way around him. And it's it's
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: to me when I watch a person who is in
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: his late twenties at this point will be entering his thirties.
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: Now this is a little bit more like my recent
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: memory of of of of a lifetimeline is you go
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: through another sort of transition mentally.
- 1:00:41Speaker 7: Where you figure out, like what you're going to be
- 1:00:43Speaker 7: in the world.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: You have chased the career, you've chased what you do right,
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: you chase what your structure is, but you have to
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: now think start thinking about like what you want your
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: life to feel like and representing the team and where
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: you are and the place that you are in. Mentally,
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: I see a person who's lost in that regard, and
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: I hear a voice that that's very close to the surface.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: When you're laughing and smiling off these oh yeah, it's
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: a little both and all these things, you're usually masking
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: something else that's significant. And I think it's very close
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: to the surface for him. And I'm not trying to
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: overly psychoanalyze. He's the one wearing the crystal, not me,
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: but I will say, like it's it's to me.
- 1:01:25Speaker 7: I'm concerned about him.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: I think mentally, just from Afar, I don't have as
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: much concern I'm glad Joe Burrow is willing to share, yeah,
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: and to be.
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: Open, because he could very easily have just nonsense, oh yeah,
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: looking forward to this, blah blah blah, taking that.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: But when you watch the whole ten minutes, like, no,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I'm totally normal and in like open and not at
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: all concerning. Like when you watch the whole thing, these
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: are sometimes taken not out of context, but just like
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: when you're that honest for ten minutes straight that things
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: like that do popus.
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: And then to have the nastiest game of your career, yes,
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: four days after that, you know, causes people like us
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: to go back and.
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: Yes, listen to the whole thing. And I'm not saying
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, he's saying he wants out Like I'm
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: not saying that at all, But I'm I hear some
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: things to be concerned about on a human level, for sure,
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: And I think the coaching thing is fair. I think
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: both of these coaches are. They're so every coach is
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: a little up in the air in the AFC North,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: probably not Tomlin, but I don't know. He started like
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: putting those things out, making me it just made me
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: wonder like if does.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: He want out?
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Because I don't think the Steelers want him out, but
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: does he want out? While the Ravens they got to
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: seven and seven, we'll see if that's good enough for
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: a tie for the AFC North lead the Steelers game pending, obviously,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: but I know John Harbis feeling better, and you knew
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: it was kind of the Ravens day when Nolmar almost
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: threw a pick and then the very next players or
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: certainly that drive, he hits that long touchdown to Zay Flowers.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: So the big plays we're back for the Ravens. Speaking
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: a big plays, how about the offensive juggernaut in Houston.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: Look, I don't care how we pick up thirty six inches.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: I don't know anybody does. If you gotta throw it,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: throw it, It doesn't matter to me.
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: Just pick it up.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Find a way to get this thing in.
- 1:03:08Speaker 10: If you're not.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Getting movement, who's CJ out throw it? Whatever you gotta do.
- 1:03:12Speaker 12: Put this thing in thirty goal with the once strout
- 1:03:14Speaker 12: under shutter and they staff.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: It directly the marks what it.
- 1:03:18Speaker 12: CJ got out of the way, Marx got the snap,
- 1:03:22Speaker 12: got the touchdown.
- 1:03:23Speaker 9: Wrassle, dazzle, the texit score on thirty.
- 1:03:27Speaker 8: Short good thing in those thirty six inches.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: Yeah, they got it in. Andre Ware moved it around.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: He made sure.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Mark Vandermere and mister Ware on Ko Kilt could have
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: picked many touchdowns. The Texans put up a forty burger
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: on the pathetic Cardinals defense, forty to twenty.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: It is. It is bad.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: They're not even that injured, by the way, They're pretty
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: healthy up front and he's a defensive coach. It's not
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: going well, but let's give credit where credit is due.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: What he Marx made sure he got that thirty six
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: inches and Nny he got about like I don't know,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: I would have to do the math, but five more feet, yeah,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: like one hundred and ninety more inches. He jumped from
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: the two. He landed about six or seven yards into
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: the end zone. That was incredible, Jordan.
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: I know, I loved it because that and we talked
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: about putting this play as the highlight, even though there
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: were so many to choose from, because it was such
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: a ass kicking by the Houston Texans all day in
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: both in every phase, including special teams where they forced
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: an early takeaway and early fumble by on the kickoff unit.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: For the Cardinals, but that Woody Mark's play was a
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: play to me that sums up that the Texans offense
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: is how they're coming back to life. Young players such
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: as Woody Marks are really giving it a boost. Like
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: there's no actual reason for Woody Marks to launch himself
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: through the end zone like Ralph Wigham coming through the window,
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: but he does it.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Why not?
- 1:04:51Speaker 7: Why not?
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Why the heck not?
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: There's no reason, by the way for CJ.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: Stroud to make maybe the toughest throw available to him
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: on this play, a sixteen yard pickup to Dalton Schultz,
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: where look at this guy's he throws it to Yeah,
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: oh yeah, there's a player there. You can't really tell
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: it first because it is so unclear, because there's so
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: many defenders crashing down and another eligible receiver in front
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: of it. Why not take the hardest play in front
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: of it. I do posit this as a Throw of
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: the Year nominee just in terms of sheer difficulty and
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: because it is so absurd in terms of its difficulty
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: level and the tightness of that window that you almost
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: felt like it was maybe an accident that CJ strouted
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: particularly through it and Schultz there.
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: I do think the touchdown to Woody Marks was an
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: accident either.
- 1:05:40Speaker 8: That was great fake work by c. J.
- 1:05:42Speaker 6: Stroud turning around with his eyes as big as saucers
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: after the snap, goes between his legs to say, oh,
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: the ball's going to the ground, and then it's directly
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: like a weird wobbly pass that hits Stroud's hand on
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: the snap on the way back.
- 1:05:56Speaker 8: I think that might have been an accident.
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: Yeah, no, and it was rolled a fumble recovery because
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: the snap was bad and then they mishandled it. But
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: then Woody Marks, like like I said, he just launched himself.
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: But it was great.
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: And you know what I mentioned the young players, The
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: kids are all right in Houston, guys, because when Woody
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: Marks kind of he left the game because he was
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: dealing with some ankle issues that he was in and
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: out of the game throughout. For Juar Jones, a former
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: six round pick, he came in and became the texans
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: first one hundred yard rusher of the season, played outstanding,
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: had a great game. In between Woody Marx and Jaden
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: Higgins and Juwar Jordan and these guys are growing up together.
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: And it's very interesting because the defense is so mature.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: The defense is such a like we talked about them
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: being like professionally violent as an unit, and so the
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: offense going through its growing pains early in the season
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: and then coming out and putting together a really really
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: solid and complete game. Yes against a bad team, a
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: bad defense, but an absolute thorough beating that was over
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: in the first quarter.
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: Really, it felt like it was over because.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: The seventeen nothing first quarter.
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: Well, and it was over at ten zero because before
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: it was ten zero, before Jacoby Brissett even touched the ball,
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: because CJ. Stroud on the second play from scrimmage hits
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: Nico Collins on an explosive touchdown, and then the very
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: next play or on the kick on the following kickoff,
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: then the Cardinals fumble it and the Texans set up
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: a field goal. And then when you play from an
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: early deficit against this defense, you're screwed because of how
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: sound and aggressive this defense is. So it felt it
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: felt over immediately, and the Texan just piled on.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Well, they're starting to do things that real deal teams do,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: like the Seahawks, for instance, they just put the away
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: the Cardinals quickly and hid and it's It's not like
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: they had like a million possessions or had defensive scores.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: I know the special teams in defense did set up
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: two short fields, but they had nine scores. I mean,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: they had forty points in I believe only ten drives,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: which like they either missed the field or scored on
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: every drive but one today they had. It's like CJ
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Stroud And one thing I noticed in the post game
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: with from his teammates, they're all talking him up as like, well, yeah,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: like CJ's the best quarterback in the league, and and
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: like we expect set like CJ is that dude. He
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: he is as good as any quarterback in the league.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: And now, obviously I don't put him there yet, but
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: I do believe that they believe that. And that's that's
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: a dangerous combination. A lot of continuity, a great defense,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: a good court, a really good quarterback, and some young
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: players developing like they got a chance to win the AFC.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: All these teams do.
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: And I'm wondering because I know the early start for
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: the offensive line was miserable, but there was some Stroud
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: involved there. And I think as both have improved and
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: CJ has gotten more healthy, Uh, there were eleven Cardinals
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: that got pressured today.
- 1:08:53Speaker 22: C J.
- 1:08:53Speaker 8: Stroud was having to to make moves in the pocket.
- 1:08:55Speaker 6: It wasn't necessarily easy up and down the field every
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: single opportunity for the Houston Texans. But but I think
- 1:09:01Speaker 6: he knows and trusts where they're going to be to
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: the extent where he's able to make these plays that we're.
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: Used to seeing c J.
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: Stroud make at the start of his career, and that's
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: why they're they're hitting the explosives he's he's making these
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: plays on third down and they're a fun team to watch.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: And in the end, only two quarterback hits in one
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: sack for the Cardinals, so that's a great game for them.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Derek Stingley did leave with an injury, but he was
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: speaking to the media afterwards, which would indicate it's maybe
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: not too serious. Kamari Lassiter with a big time interception,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: could they possibly get two All Pro corners? Don't I
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: don't think it's crazy.
- 1:09:33Speaker 7: They played so well.
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: One of my favorite moments of the game too, is
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: when Jalen Petree took a massive hit of a smelling
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: salt that he was holding with him on the field
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: before a snap and then dropped it as the ball
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: is snapped and then goes and makes a tackle like
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: it just this defense, it just knows what it's about.
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: It has all year. It's my favorite defense to watch
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: in the NFL, Like it's.
- 1:09:53Speaker 7: It's just cool.
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: And then on the other side, the only player that
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: really gave this deck Texans defense any brule was Trey McBride,
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: who was twelve for one point thirty four and two touchdowns,
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: and it was basically like there was a tunnel screen
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: that he had where it took multiple Texans defenders to
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: bring him to the ground. No other player on any
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: part of this Cardinals offense was giving the Texans defense
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: even making more than one person come to tackle them.
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: And I just thought, I have these thoughts sometimes. I'm
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: sure you guys. Do you ever watch a player and
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: you think, man, I wish he was on a different team,
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: or like you watch a player who's really really good
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: and you think, man, I wish I could just pick
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: him up and put him somewhere else. It was really
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: strange because I felt when watching Trey McBride against the Texans,
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: man I wish Trey McBride played for the Texans because
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: he was bringing the same energy against their defense that
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: the defense was bringing against him and have all season
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: against their opponents, and he fits them and he's like
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: this lone island there and in Arizona that it's the
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: only positive, the only bride spot.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Yeah, they've lost six straight. They are now looking like
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: a three and eleven type of team. They're sixth right now.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: In terms of a tank athon, they they could easily
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: get into the top three or four picks here. I
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: don't know if Jonathan Gannon deserves to be fired or not.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: That's for another day, but this absolutely looks like a
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: team who was coaches going to get fired. Let's take
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: a break. The Texans helped serve. It was kind of
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: a day where the two teams now atop the AFC
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: South had to just take care of business. We'll come
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: back on the other side and listen to Jaguars.
- 1:11:25Speaker 23: Jets shotgun formation. Bunch right dropping his Trevor. They're swinging
- 1:11:32Speaker 23: out of the back. So this is Travis etn with
- 1:11:34Speaker 23: running in forty thirty five yard line inside of the
- 1:11:37Speaker 23: stage to say thirty yard line twenty five hold on in.
- 1:11:39Speaker 18: Here, sot of ten come touched down.
- 1:11:42Speaker 16: Traversydna score again from forty five yards away.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: How good is that? It's great, It's amazing.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: It's maybe a third straight week someone could credibly say,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: is this the best game of Trevor Lawrence's career.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: It's a wild streak.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Frank FRANGI there on WJXL, the Jaguars put up forty
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: eight points on the Jets, final score forty eight to twenty,
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: and you might say, what did Trevor Lawrence really do
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: on that play?
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: It's like a.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Little dumb off pass to etn if travel. If Trevor
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Lawrence puts up six touchdowns in a single game, Patrick,
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: we're playing that six touchdown.
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: I don't care what it looks like.
- 1:12:29Speaker 8: Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: If it were that easy to do what Trevor Lawrence done,
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: it would have been done before in NFL history. The
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: first player in NFL history with five or more passing touchdowns,
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: a rush touchdown, and fifty yards rushing in a single Wow,
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: has never been done. But congratulations to Aaron Glitz Jets
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: as they come in and.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Pour one out for all the qbs who did that,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: but without the fifty yards, right, No, that's why the
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: show for.
- 1:12:51Speaker 7: All the qbs that are like that guy did it.
- 1:12:55Speaker 8: He did it, averaging ten yards of carry.
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: As you know, Trevor Lawrence got that rushed a law
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: rushing touchdown where the Jets actually held on defense. I
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: believe it was Britain Strange. I got held down the
- 1:13:07Speaker 6: field on a third and fifteen in the red zone.
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: Trevor Lawrence runs it all the way back in for
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: the score where trev had You know, he had a
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: Throw of the Year nominee in this.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: In fact, we will play it while you talk about
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: it. It was to Parker Washington that thing was beautiful.
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: Trevor Lawrence rolling drops even further back as pressure comes
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: and I'm thinking, well, don't don't do it. He throws
- 1:13:29Speaker 6: a Jordan Love fade away. It's perfect to Parker Washington.
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: Then he Jordan shrugs to the sideline to show that
- 1:13:37Speaker 6: Trevor Lawrence was in fact feeling it where the Jets
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: and Brady Cook, Hey, congratulations, Brady Cookie did have his
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: first career touchdown.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: I gotta say that that's got a chance.
- 1:13:46Speaker 7: Do you think this while he's being hit too.
- 1:13:49Speaker 8: He is. It's Will Johnson pressure.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: The fact that you're rolling left and then you set
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: you're taking the hit right, you're throwing it to a
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: guy I in stride who It's not like he's wide open.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: There are two defenders in the area.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: And then and then I think the key here is
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: the shrug.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: That adds a little extra I think that will help
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: with the judges. It definitely beats out as well a
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: similar one from.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: A week ago.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: We're the judges, we are judge and the jer and
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: it's a third and long that helps to I don't
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: know why like it.
- 1:14:24Speaker 6: One of the few chances the Jets had to get
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: off the field. Trevor comes up with that. There's you know,
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: Brady Cooks again. Edna Mitchell caught his first career touchdown pass.
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: Great moment, whereas fiance and mom and dad are celebrated
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: in the in the stands. Not a lot of great
- 1:14:41Speaker 6: moments other than that, as the Jets offense looked pretty
- 1:14:45Speaker 6: rough here against the team that again no players ran
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: for over one hundred yards. No player's gotten close to
- 1:14:51Speaker 6: one hundred yards against Josh Hans Allen in this Jags
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: defense and a dominant start to finish win for the folks.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: And it's the first game I believe where it's Jaco
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: be Thomas, who again has a nice day sixty six
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: yards and a touchdown, and Trevor Lawrence was completing very
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: difficult throws throughout the game and his rushing the last
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: month is absolutely a coaching point and it absolutely like
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: shows up.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: But it's the first.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: Game with Jacoby and Thomas and Parker Washington and Bretton
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Strange and yeah, this team just looks better each and
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: every week and they and they did what you know,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: real deal contenders do and squashed the Jets.
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: I have to know what Liam Cohen is saying or
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: doing in the headset because you see that Jordan Trug
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: that he's doing that at Liam Cohen like he's facing
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: the side of the play caller and the sideline and
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: the headset can click. It clicks back on at the
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: results of the last after the results of the last play,
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: so you can hear him if he's losing his mind
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: in they're like excited, you can you can hear it.
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: So I'm like, this is cool because they went from
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: you know, sometimes yelling at each other similar to Bo
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: Nicks and Sean Payton, like they would they would kind
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: of get after it with each other, to now, oh,
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: they're like sort of like, you know, almost competing with
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: each other, but in a good way, in a functional way.
- 1:16:05Speaker 7: It's it's pretty cool.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: To the to the point where you know the teammate
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: who might know Trevor Lawrence the Best talked about this
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: recent streak after the game traves ETN.
- 1:16:16Speaker 24: Back in twenty two, Trevor got hot in the second
- 1:16:18Speaker 24: half of the year. Does this kind of feel similar
- 1:16:20Speaker 24: to that in a little bit. I mean, obviously, I
- 1:16:22Speaker 24: know different plays, different games and stuff, but just him
- 1:16:24Speaker 24: starting to get on a roll at the most important times,
- 1:16:27Speaker 24: it feels similar.
- 1:16:28Speaker 22: Nah, not at all. I don't think I ever seen
- 1:16:30Speaker 22: Trevor like this, you know, And I feel like we
- 1:16:34Speaker 22: want to we want to now. So the championship the
- 1:16:36Speaker 22: good and I feel like he's just out there. He's
- 1:16:38Speaker 22: on fire man, like you've seen it. He rolled out
- 1:16:41Speaker 22: again and he just kind of stops and just parks
- 1:16:44Speaker 22: down here somewhere.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:16:47Speaker 22: He launched it and Parker made a great catch.
- 1:16:49Speaker 7: That's so good.
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: That's awesome by travck for Washington's back, he's great.
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: He really helps.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: And yeah, ETN had three receiving touchdowns seventy three yards
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: in addition to do an on the gun. I've been
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: saying all year, Drake May's ascension is right there at
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: the top of the just the biggest stories in the
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: NFL this year.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Trevor's got a ways to go.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Three weeks is not a season make, but if he
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: can play great the rest of the way, and we'll
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: see this team is a real deal contender. That that's
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: one of the biggest developments of this NFL season.
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: Sounds like you're giving the Jaguars some of that much
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: searched for respect that Liam Cohen was one.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I mean, we did a whole show on them back
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: in October. But look, they to the choir, they stay
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: one game ahead of the Texans.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: They are very much in the mix.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Let's go to the NFC another team that is in
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: the mix, and they got served a big fat bowl
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: of chicken noodle soup. Just we'll fix whatever you need
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: to get over your sickness.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: It's the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: First and goal fall up before Hurts of the gun.
- 1:17:54Speaker 8: Barkley was left. Hurts gives it off on a pitch.
- 1:17:57Speaker 8: I'm running, I'm dash him for the touchdowns.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Gunner four yard run A little click on that looked
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: pretty easy.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: Eagles win Merril Reese Mike Quick on WIP. I saw
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: these awful announcing rankings of the local radio announcers. Let's
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: just say they have JB. Long in MJD and then
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: Matt Mney Smith and Danny Jeremiah criminally low. But there's
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: a ranking of this duo too that I think Eric Roberts,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: our producer, would disagree with, and I'm on his side too.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Thirty one nothing, Eagles win easy. I don't know if
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: my analogy really worked coming into the thing, but I
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: was like, the Eagles were sick and the Raiders will
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: heal them.
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: I think it was very creditable.
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: Okay, Dallas Goddard had two had two touchdowns, both off
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: of little wrinkle plays, a pitch touchdown in the first quarter,
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: in a sweep off rum fake in the third quarter,
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: and he could have had another touchdown and it didn't
- 1:18:58Speaker 5: even matter that he dropped, and easy would be touchdown
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: off a little Jalen Hurts quick pass because this was
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: such a tail whooping the entire time. Jalen Hurts ran
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: for forty yards, including some key third and long convergence
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: to set the Eagles offense up into scoring position. Hit
- 1:19:14Speaker 5: a couple of really great throws, one to Devonte Smith,
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: a deep shot on the perimeter really sticks out to
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: me on that and the Las Vegas Raiders were the
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: Las Vegas Raiders.
- 1:19:24Speaker 7: This one was a blowout that.
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: Got Tanner McKee in this game at the start of
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: the fourth quarter, and at that time that Tanner McKee
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: entered the game, the Raiders themselves had just sixty six
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: net yards.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Well, the great thing about them is that they only
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: finished with seventy five. Usually when you're like writing down
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: these stats, you're like, oh, they're gonna get some yards
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: in garbage dime and it's going to ruin it. I
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: couldn't fathom a world where their performance against the Chiefs
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: was not the worst performance by any offense this season,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: but we found it. Seventy five total yards by Kenny
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: Pickett and the Raiders the lowest yards for play according
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: to Josh Dubou of the Associated Press in the storied
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: history of the Raiders. I mean some bad offenses over
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: the years, and this was the absolute worst. And so
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: I think it supports the idea that this Eagles defense
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: could just be the best thing in the NFC playoffs.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: It's possible and can the offense be good enough? Can
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: they find enough things they like on offense? They obviously,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: you know, this wasn't the week to totally find out,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: But I think they'll still feel better about themselves.
- 1:20:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: I think the doom and gloom questions about the viability
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: of the Philadelphia Eagles maybe we're a bit too much
- 1:20:37Speaker 6: after especially after a game where there were some flukey turnovers,
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: two turnovers and one play by one quarterback in a
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: situation that has never happened. You get those types of
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: things to happen, you lose the game on a turnover
- 1:20:50Speaker 6: where they could have very easily won that game. They
- 1:20:52Speaker 6: could have won the game in regulation and in over time,
- 1:20:54Speaker 6: but it went the Chargers way. And like you said, Greg,
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: this is more than a warm bowl of chicken noodle soup.
- 1:21:00Speaker 6: This is like a censu bean. This is this is
- 1:21:03Speaker 6: a healing touch from mister Miagi, like the Raiders will
- 1:21:08Speaker 6: will give you everything you need to end more in
- 1:21:11Speaker 6: a game where Ashton genty only runs for thirty five yards,
- 1:21:13Speaker 6: but it's still the majority of the offense that the
- 1:21:16Speaker 6: one player had.
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: For the Raiders, they allow you to work on stuff
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: which I saw the Eagles doing today. That's a kind
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: way of saying that about the Raiders. I guess is
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: you can do stuff that you don't normally do and
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: still win. What you know, like the way that they
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: did and totally shut them out. That the Eagles ran
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: more play action. It's a small sample size because Jalen
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: hurts only through the ball fifteen times. He was remarkably
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: efficient with those throws. Usually they're only about a twelve
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: or excuse me, a twenty five percent play action rate team,
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: but today forty percent of his dropbacks or play action
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: for seventy yards and a touchdown, so really clean and
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: efficient when using play action. The Eagles version of play
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: action makes me laugh because it's really slow developing and
- 1:21:57Speaker 5: it's clear that not every you know, it's just not
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: something you see some teams and they do the ball
- 1:22:03Speaker 5: fake like very fast, and then they get into their
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: drop and they're only flipping their back for a second.
- 1:22:07Speaker 7: This takes its time to develop.
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: And again it did not matter, and so you can
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: just do you can create and set up those those
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: explosive plays, and I liked seeing it. I liked seeing
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: them work on things in that regard because they're going
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: to need to have more dimension to their offense and
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: they're going to need to be more layered.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, their success rate was fine, but
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: considering it was against the Raiders, Like the running game
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: does rack up one hundred and eighty three yards, but
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: still Saquon and Tank Bigsby like go for under three
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: and a half yards per carry even against the Raiders,
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: so that that's not necessarily totally fixed. But I did
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: like Jalen Hurts as you mentioned, just ripping a third
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: and long design run. Do not see that out of
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: the Eagles too much, so that might be an end
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: of the season type of thing. Okay, let's use his
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: legs and then even getting aj Brown involved after it
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: looked like Hurtz was banged up a little. He comes
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: back from the injury and finishes the game with a
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: long touchdown to AJ Brown. Great win for the Eagles.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Everyone is huge for them. They step a little closer
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: to winning the NFC East. Let's talk about a team
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: that's like quietly still in the mix for their division title.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: It's the San Francisco forty nine.
- 1:23:12Speaker 8: Cure out of the shotgun.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: He takes the snap on third and goal, Purty under pressure.
- 1:23:16Speaker 12: Jump fall, Kettle's got.
- 1:23:19Speaker 9: It, touchdown, touchdown forty What a play from mid air, Purty.
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: Off both feet suspended in the airs.
- 1:23:30Speaker 18: He throws it to Kittle in the back of.
- 1:23:33Speaker 11: The end zone and George is having a big day
- 1:23:36Speaker 11: and he connects with the score.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Not since Tim Tebow have I seen a jumping pass
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: like that, Rock Purty. That was the most Rock Purty
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: pass of all time. Three touchdowns, two hundred and ninety
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: five yards. Back in my day, Tim Chebo and the Cats.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: Any chance he gets, let's talk about tea. But now
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: I mean you throw it jump pass? Oh no, you
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: throw a jump pass like that. That's the name that
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: gets mentioned. Although that was more athletic and kind of
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: incredible because him and Kittle have to be on the
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: exact same page there, he wasn't that open. Kittle finishes
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: with eighty eight yards and a touchdown. Perdy continues his
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: excellent play that he started against the Browns, and the
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: forty nine Ers survive a game titan second half effort.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: They win thirty seven to twenty four. Really, what we've
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: been talking about is the forty nine Ers playbook right now,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: which is you're just gonna have to be awesome on
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: offense each week and that's their path.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: They've won ten games this season.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: I don't like they are still in the mix in
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: the NFC West' I won't roll them out totally.
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: No, And you saw a continuation of the things that
- 1:24:42Speaker 6: has kind of carried them this season, not kind of
- 1:24:44Speaker 6: Christian McCaffery in the receiving game has literally carried this
- 1:24:47Speaker 6: forty nine ers offense. But you get back and you
- 1:24:49Speaker 6: get because Kittle missed significant time this season, he had
- 1:24:52Speaker 6: a big game, Ricky Piersoll missed significant time this season.
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: Even in this game he went out for a minute.
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: And so like to see them back and kind of
- 1:25:00Speaker 6: fully formed to the extent like, no, it's not we're
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: not thinking peak Niners where it's like this world beater dominant,
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: like gonna out talent you on both sides the ball.
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: A lot of those guys are still there, but they're
- 1:25:12Speaker 6: in different stages. They're succeeding to different levels. And against
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: the team like the Tennessee Titans, they you know, can
- 1:25:18Speaker 6: come out there and kind of groove their way to
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: a win where yeah it was a jump pass, it
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: was a cool highlight. I don't necessarily know it's necessary.
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: He's fading away. Brock's feeling it, you know, he's.
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: A little pressure in his face.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean most jump passes aren't really necessary, probably,
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: but it was cool.
- 1:25:34Speaker 6: One of the more superfluous jump passes in league history.
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: I would say that touchdown to Georgia and.
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: It would have looked bad like if it didn't get completed, because, yeah,
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: the Titans were doing some things in the second half
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: of this game. So there was a two play sequence.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: And if Jeffrey Simmons does not make the All Pro
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: team this year, and I'd have to go through I
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: don't want to be unfair because there's other defensive tackles
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: to look at a two play sequence where he forces
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: a fumble on Party. It's thirty one to ten to
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: start the fourth quarter. You figure this game is absolutely over,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: but he forces a turnover. They cash in with a
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: touchdown pretty quickly. And you know who that touchdown.
- 1:26:13Speaker 8: Was too, Who was it good?
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: Jeffrey Simmons's so great. It's the coolest part of this
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: coolest moment of this game with Jeffrey Simmons catching a touchdown.
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: And not just a touchdown where the defensive player comes in.
- 1:26:27Speaker 6: They scheme him up, like who's going to cover the
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: defensive guy. It's a defensive tackle kind of running a
- 1:26:32Speaker 6: little bit of a eight where he looks like he's
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: going to be a lead blocker and then he goes
- 1:26:37Speaker 6: into the flat. He does that, but then he's not
- 1:26:40Speaker 6: open look at him, and so cam Ward has to
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: roll to his right and Jeffrey Simmons is adjusting, is
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: going on.
- 1:26:47Speaker 7: Works with the quarterback in a scramble drill.
- 1:26:49Speaker 6: But when are they What are the Titans running a
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: scramble driller practice with?
- 1:26:53Speaker 8: This is just a dude figuring it out.
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: The dude who loves ball, who's out there like, oh man,
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: I'm not open for this play.
- 1:26:58Speaker 8: Let me make a play for Camo. Look at him.
- 1:27:01Speaker 25: Well.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: The crazy thing is he knows cam Ward so well
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: that most receivers, lesser receivers would run towards the quarterback.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: When he sees Camroard rolling left, he says, there's some
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: open space over here. My guy is so great thrown
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: across his body that there's about seventeen throw of the
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: Year nominees of that exact throw. And that's exactly what
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: cam Ward does.
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: I see you and unnecessary unnecessary flourish jump past by
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: Brock Purty, and I raise you an unnecessary but awesome
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: flourish of a jump catch by Jeffrey Simmons, who bounced
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: about three inches off the grounds catch that was coming
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: into his chest anyway, and so he had it, you know,
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: he had it locked and secured, and they're you know,
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: all of that, but he's still you know, just a.
- 1:27:43Speaker 7: Little emphasis, you know, just a little emphasis.
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: I loved it. It was the most fun part of
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: this game. On the side of the forty nine ers.
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: They some of this obviously is cam Ward being able
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: to scramble around. But the thing that will we talk
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: about these contending teams and these teams that are going
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: to make a real playoff push, especially in that tight
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: like really crowded NFC West and the forty nine Ers
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: cannot get pressure and regardless of whether the quarterback can
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: scramble or not, they cannot get pressure. And on the
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: other side, I think it's very cool kind of what
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: seems to be forming here, which is George Kittle who
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: is now back to doing kind of his yards after
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: the catch thing, but they also are using perimeter receivers
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: and they're taking some of that It's almost like they're
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: blending the two eras or iterations of these modern forty
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: nine Ers defenses and trying to see what kind of
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: becomes of it as they enter this most crucial stretch
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: run of their season.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Yeah, like Kendrick Bourne goes over five hundred yards to
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: get a five hundred thousand dollars bonus. I always like
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: those performance bonus notes that he's a little part of
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: the offense. But yeah, you have a chunk play to
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: DeMarcus Robinson, you have a touchdown and a chunk play
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: to Juwan Jennings that was a great play, and then
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: chunk plays to Pearsall, who's been very quiet since he
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: came off his injury, and Kittle. So it's all coming together.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: And I keep saying that about the division because Seahawks
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: rams they're going to play each other. Yeah, one of
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: those team is going to lose, and quietly, the forty
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: nine Ers have every tie breaker possible. They're gonna have
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: to beat the Seahawks the second time around. But they're eight,
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: which is gonna be very difficult. But they are eight
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: and two in the NFC, they're four and one in
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: the division, and so they are danger mac Jones.
- 1:29:14Speaker 7: Mac Jones won one of those tie breakers.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: Shout out to mac Jones and Davis Mills for helping
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: their teams backups of the year. We should make that
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: an award. Jameis Winston would maybe be a nominee. He
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: did play on Sunday for a little bit. Let's go
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: to MetLife.
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: McNichols is the back they go RPO. I heard he's
- 1:29:33Speaker 8: got time passwack.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: Got a little field?
- 1:29:35Speaker 12: Why up with Terry mcloorn at the twenty tries to
- 1:29:37Speaker 12: get through a teckle he does, spits back cluck yard
- 1:29:40Speaker 12: cluckdown Washington a fifty one yard striker.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Terry.
- 1:29:45Speaker 26: Are you saying why do you want Terry mcclaurin on
- 1:29:48Speaker 26: the football field?
- 1:29:49Speaker 8: Is because it plays like that.
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: Marcus Mariota just one on one coach on the house side.
- 1:29:55Speaker 8: He falls absolute. Talk to Terry mccordy. He's done the
- 1:29:59Speaker 8: rede will get to the inseel.
- 1:30:02Speaker 7: Hmmm.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: Haven't heard enough from Bram Weinstein in London Fletcher this
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: year two of the best in the business on WB
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: I g yes, scary Terry also one of the best
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: in the business. Making it a tough day in the
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: film room. There for Dane Bellin because he got turned around,
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: and then Paulson Adebo came in there. It was like
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: the Keystone cops falling off. I'm trying to make that tackle.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Twenty nine to twenty one. The Commanders get their fourth
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: victory of the season and the Giants stay in first
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: place in terms of Tankathon. They are slated right now
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: for the number one overall pick.
- 1:30:37Speaker 6: Well, yeah, to have the safety with a whole lot
- 1:30:40Speaker 6: of green grass between him and Terry McLaurin.
- 1:30:43Speaker 8: Going one one.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: I know, but what do you do. It's hull three sixty.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: It just doesn't look.
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: Yeah, but it's, you know, considering the decision making from
- 1:30:50Speaker 6: the Giants coming into this game with Mike Kofka and
- 1:30:52Speaker 6: Brian cox U having their disagreements.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: Where survivors, a whole lot of folks.
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: In East Rutherford are rushing to tell people it was
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: strictly related to the seats.
- 1:31:00Speaker 8: On the plane.
- 1:31:01Speaker 6: I started a wonder because the defense has been a problem.
- 1:31:04Speaker 6: It was a problem once again today where you get
- 1:31:07Speaker 6: the other team's best receiver matched up on the safety
- 1:31:09Speaker 6: the three way go. There was so much grass there
- 1:31:12Speaker 6: there for Terry McLaren to operate in where Marcus Mariota
- 1:31:16Speaker 6: didn't even necessarily have that grade of a game, and
- 1:31:20Speaker 6: Jackson Dart once again is getting evaluated for a concussion.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: You know it's crazy.
- 1:31:25Speaker 6: Our friend James Palmer pointed out today half of the
- 1:31:28Speaker 6: games that he started, he's been evaluated for a concussion.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: I will not accept your Mariota slander over ten yards
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: per attempt today. Just only needed to throw to eleven
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: nineteen throws, but he gets his two eleven and they
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: ran the ball better than they have all in a while,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: at least the Commander's Bill Merritt back in the mix.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: But yeah, the Dart takeaway was the biggest one for
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: me in this game because it was full Dart and
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: you don't want to go full Dart. Never like, there
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: were some great throws in this game. I went and
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: checked PFF had him as three big time throws and
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: that that's a huge number, big time FoST I mean
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: just monster touchdown to Tyrone Tracy for instance. There was
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: a great one to Wandal you love you love to
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: see it. There were at least three I think turnover
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: worthy plays. They only had him for two, but yeah,
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: they he had one where he nearly threw an interception
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: on fourth down, but it was dropped. He fumbled the
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: ball on a rushing attempt that he probably shouldn't have,
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: and then he had a brutal interception which had the
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: combo where you almostould give him two turnover worthy plays
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: where it was a really bad decision and a bad
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: throw and that got picked off. And yet all of
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: that together wasn't even the thing that bothered me the most.
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: It was the fact that he's running near the goal
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: line and putting his head down and they're blaming the coaches.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: That was a busted play. It was supposed to be
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: a pass and he just decided to run. There was
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: a design run though earlier, on an inside give on
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: the goal line, where he took a pretty big hit two.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: So it's just kind of the same story. And then again,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: he did have a bunch of good runs in this game.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: He ran for sixty three.
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: Yards in the Tale of the New York Giants' twenty
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: twenty five season.
- 1:33:09Speaker 7: It is possible to blame everybody.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Yes, I think that's a good, good call, including the
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: whole defense, except today for abdul Karda.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: I was watching him closely.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: Three quick pressure sack force fumble like he's at least
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: getting into the bubo.
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: Well I like that.
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: Yeah, and good because playing playing that way after some
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: of the you know, miscommunication meetings or miss time or
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: the benchings and all of these things, he knows people
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: are watching him.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: Good.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: I mean the crazy thing is Dark comes out for
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: the concussion check Missus. Two plays, Jamis comes in, they're
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: on the goal line, Jamis can't hit the touchdown, and
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: then they bring Dart back for the fourth down. And
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: that was the play I was talking about that should
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: have been intercepted and was dropped and ended.
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: Up just being an incompletion.
- 1:33:52Speaker 7: Just just let it end. Yeah, the Giants seas if
- 1:33:57Speaker 7: anybody end.
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: If anybody could sim to the finish as bad as
- 1:33:59Speaker 6: we talked too as things were for the Arizona Cardinals
- 1:34:02Speaker 6: right now.
- 1:34:02Speaker 8: It's been like this for the better part of months.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: It's really both these teams. But the Commanders have been
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: better this year and they deserved that fourth win. They're
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: four and ten Giants at two and nine. We're gonna
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: say goodbye to you guys, and I'm gonna thank you
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: for a clutch job. You guys have the clutch gene stretcher,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: like this was a show that required the best of us,
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: like a big day in the NFL with these injuries
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: and everything changing, And I know you.
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: Could feel it before the show, and you delivered.
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: We're gonna turn it right back around and thank Greg
- 1:34:33Speaker 6: Rosenthal for allowing us to be a part of this franchise.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: I don't know why we're having thanks when we have
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: three big games to go to on the other side.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Let's hit Bears and Browns. Shooky coming back before Sunday
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Night Football.
- 1:34:45Speaker 8: Your flowers, Greg.
- 1:34:55Speaker 16: Snap played pig ROLLI was right, catile, running out of time,
- 1:34:58Speaker 16: Gotta gut it into the end zone.
- 1:35:00Speaker 12: The end zones?
- 1:35:01Speaker 2: What Steve J Moore touchdown? Bears?
- 1:35:05Speaker 26: You thought that play was a throwaway and Caleb Williams
- 1:35:09Speaker 26: launched it to DJ Moore of the end zone, twenty
- 1:35:12Speaker 26: to three Bears, his fourteenth completion, second touchdown of the
- 1:35:18Speaker 26: day for more right, deep corner of the end zone,
- 1:35:22Speaker 26: crushing from left to right.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: When you first watched that play on the broadcast, copy
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: chuck felt great, but it felt a little lucky. The
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: more I've watched that throw That's Jeff Joniak and Tom Thayer.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: By the way, on WMVP. Bears win thirty one to
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: three against your Browns. Big time effort.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: The more I watched that throw, that's a Throw of
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: the Year nominee. That is an.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: Outrageous feat of athleticism by Caleb Williams on one of
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: his best days as a pro.
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: My first reaction was, oh no, oh no, oh no,
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: you're throwing it into traffic. Oh my god, he came
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: down with that. What, Oh my god, that's like a
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: cam Ward play. We've seen kan Or do that like
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: three times this year.
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: You're right, but the miles per hour on that see,
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: I don't know, it's even better. Like, yes, of course
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: you need a little bit of luck to get that
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: ball through, but I don't I literally don't know if
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: there's a single quarterback in the NFL that could put
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: that much velocity on that throw. From where he was throwing,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: that was unreal.
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: That's part of the shot too, is you can see
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: his eyes scanning the back of the end zone, finding
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: DJ Moore and then just being like ohing it putting
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: it there, and he put it right on him.
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Just an awesome game, and I think an interesting step
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: forward for the Bears, who just keep checking boxes thirty
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: one to three. They entered today with a negative scoring
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: differential on the day. So I do think they've gotten
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: better and better, even though you know they've been winning
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: all season, They've gotten better. And this was a great
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: example that their offense could perform against a great defense
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: and that they could just win in a total blowout.
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: Yeah, a blowout that they earned, like there was there
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: was nothing cheap about this. You know, their first touchdown
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: drive was six plays, forty two yards, three minutes and
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: forty three seconds, so it took quick DeAndre Swift touchdown
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: and then they go back and score with DJ Moore
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: and it's fourteen nothing, and at that point the game
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: was basically over and they were not like dominating, but
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: they were winning, just flat out winning against that Brown's defense.
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: Now you could say, like, oh, was the weather part
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: of it, because it was frigid and everybody looked like
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: they were pretty miserable, it didn't matter to me. The
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: Bears had more fight in them. They look like a
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: team that is ascending, that is fired up about making
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: the playoffs, is fired up about playing football on Sundays,
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: and they dominated on both sides of the ball. Probably
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: the worst performance from the Browns defense, which just felt
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: like they were chasing Caleb Williams and chasing you know,
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: those who caught passes from Kaleb Williams throughout the day, which,
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: by the way, the rollout of the playoffs rollout was magnificent
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: for the Bears all day.
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: But it felt like the Browns.
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: Defense is just out of sorts and it's probably their
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: worst showing of the year since maybe that early season
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: lost to Baltimore. And it's all the credit in the
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: world due to the Bears. I've been a huge fan
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: of watching Kaleb Williams play football over the last six
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: weeks and I just think he continues to stack good
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: games and this is another good one.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: Well, I know the weather was absolutely brutal, the wind
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: chills down in the single digits or negative. We should
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: have mentioned that with the Bears Bengal, I mean the
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Ravens Bengals game two, Like, yeah, that's absolutely something to
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: consider in context. But they put up three hundred and
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: sixty one yards. I know they slowed down in the
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: second half, but their success rate for the day throwing
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: and running was like fifty percent, which is outstanding. Meanwhile,
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: the Browns absolutely can't do anything on offense, Like I
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: don't think they barely had a successful run the entire day.
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: Shadur Sanders struggle. So it's a great game plan game
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: by the Bears defense too. So you can't blame the
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: weather when one offense looks like the weather's fine and
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: the other is terrible. What did you see out of
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: the Browns offense in the Bears defense?
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, well, I'm back to that point real quick.
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: I mean Kleeb threw for two forty yes, in freezing
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: cold weather like that, that's an accomplishment. But from the
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: Browns offense a lot of the same. You know, Shador
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: had a few nice throws. He actually got robbed of
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: what could have been a touchdown pass. He put one
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: absolutely on the numbers on Jerry Judy down the sideline
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: that should have been a touchdown. Hits Judy in the chest,
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: falls through his arms and right into the hands of
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: Jalen Johnson for an interception, one of three shud Or
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: Sanders interceptions. The other two were his fault. Good defensive
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: plays made by CJGJ and the linebacker DeMarco Jackson. And look,
- 1:39:10Speaker 3: that's what you're gonna get from a Rooie quarterback. He
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: still holds on the football too long. I feel like
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: I'm a broken record at this point. His pressure rate
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: is sky high because he holds on the ball too long.
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: And the Browns offense, I mean, he hit a couple
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: of really nice balls to Isaiah Bond, he also missed
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: a couple of open targets for Isaiah Bond downfield. It's
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: just it's not a good offense. They didn't run the
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: ball well at all. They didn't really stand much of
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: a chance. They just looked like a team that was
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: outclassed on in all three phases of the game, which
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: has been pretty much the story for them all year.
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: Today might have been the first time where I was like, yeah,
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: I don't think hevins defans, he's going to survive.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: Like, oh man, right, I was there a month ago.
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: I was there a month ago.
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: I just I just he's a good coach, I think,
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: but I just don't think he's going to survive.
- 1:39:50Speaker 8: Run out.
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: They're just it's run out. There's no more tape left there.
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: They're out.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: And I think it's good for DJ Moore to score
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: a couple of touchdowns, ends up four for sixty nine
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: for him. To make big plays, and Luther Burden continues
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: to break out. I know he left with an injury.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: Doesn't sound like it was two series, but he leads
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: the team with six catches in eighty four yards. So
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: the rookies are really playing well. For the Bears. They
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: get a big time win which puts some back in
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: first place in the NFC North.
- 1:40:15Speaker 24: Oh.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: Also, we have one more thing. I don't want to
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: rupt you real quick, but we got one more thing.
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: Miles Garrett sack tracker. Yeah, only one and a half now.
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: He had one and a half today, He's won away
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: from tying the record.
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: What a bad job.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: That's like literally the only note I wrote down, and
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: then I don't look down at my notes. That's all
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: I care about with these proud games. He's eight and
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: a half sacks now ahead of second place. I mean
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: that's a lot of sacks, Like not that many players
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: have eight and a half sacks.
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: You got a half sacked today. He should be a
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: twenty two right now.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Ban the half sack, go back, fix the Rake record book.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: For however, it's got to be half sacks are a travesty.
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: It's a stupid set, and I totally agree he should
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: have two sacks today, but he is only one away
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: from tying that record. That man is one of the
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: all time greats. You know who else is an all
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: time great? Trying to think of someone in this Saints game?
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: How about Kim Jordan, our podcast mate here at the NFL.
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: Let's go to New Orleans.
- 1:41:14Speaker 6: Forty seven yards with six seconds left towards the Smoothie King.
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: Said, Charlie Smith would have been a better pick.
- 1:41:21Speaker 6: Actually, Bike Roger Waits looks, hold is down, kick is away,
- 1:41:27Speaker 6: flag is down?
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: Kick is good?
- 1:41:30Speaker 8: What's the flag offside? Offsides?
- 1:41:34Speaker 13: And Charlie Smith has put the Saints off top twenty
- 1:41:39Speaker 13: to seventeen.
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: There's still two seconds to play the game.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: This typical NFC South annoying finish. We didn't need the
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: penalty to kind of ruin the call. We didn't need
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: two seconds left Kellen Moore to kind of ruin the call.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: Because it wasn't exactly a game winner. That was my cost.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: Induce McAllister.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: The New Orleans Saints have sweat the Carolina Panthers shook.
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: They beat him twenty to seventeen. I propose that that
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: is grounds for elimination from the playoff.
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: Race.
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: He just fair because the other team in the playoff
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: race with them just lost to the Saints last week.
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: I know, it doesn't really make a wedding streak. It
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. It's not really fair whatsoever. The Panthers
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: have actually beaten some great teams this year, but they
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: can't beat the Saints.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: How did the Saints get this done?
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: Well, if you watched last week's game against the Buccaneers,
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: you know that Tyler Schuck channeled his inner clutch gene
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: in the fourth quarter, and I'll tell you what. He
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: did it again on Sunday in the Supernome. This time
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: he wasn't on the road, he was at home. He
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: had an opportunity after it seemed like they'd wasted their
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: best one fourth and one. He gets what's listed as
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: a sack, but he tries to scramble and comes up
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: just inches short of the line to game turnover. On downs,
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: they get a stop, they get the ball back. They
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: have basically like eighty yards to go and he's just
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: slicing and dicing, just throwing it down the field. Panthers
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: are playing soft coverage. He's taking what the defense is
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: giving him. You can't go broke when you're taking a
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: profit and he's taking profits all the way down the field.
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: And then he ends up getting a one on one situation.
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: Chris Olave versus jac Horn. He fires a bullet. Jacy
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: Horn tries to undercut it, he misses out, doesn't intercept
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: it or break up the pass. Olave scores celebrates tie
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: ball game. That's when you realize, oh, Shuck's got the
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: clutch gene. It's just ic in his veins every week.
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: But he wasn't done. They got another stop and they
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: got the ball back with less than a minute, and
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: he leads them down the field with a couple of
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: quick connections to none other than Audric Estime, who catches
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: and runs down the field. He hits Olave one more time,
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: and then with the clock running, they spike it and
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: you think, okay, they're just on the edge of field
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: goal range. We'll see if Charlie Smith can do it.
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: We know he's got a leg, but we'll see if
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: he can do it. No, Kellimore dials up a QB
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: keeper a good old quarterback draw. He runs forward. The
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: Panthers get caught by surprise. They go after Shuck as
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: he slides personal foul fifteen more yards and now we're well.
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: Within field goal range and the rest is history.
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: In the Saints have won two games in a row
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: in twenty twenty five.
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: Great play call there by kell More.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: I think this was easily their best win of the
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: season in terms of they showed great fight and some
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: of the play calling was really inventive. And I love
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: them calling that QB sneak there when the Panthers are
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: just giving it to you, and I think a bad
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: job by there By a Giro Everro for the Panthers
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: defensive coordinator, and a good job by Shuck selling it
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: a little bit too on the hit, but there was
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: multiple flags they were calling that regardless. And he's done
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: it enough Nick that it's absolutely a pattern. He is
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: playing his best late in these games, and he's really
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: good in the hurry up situation. I bring it back
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: to the preseason game I went to. The one time
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: he looked great was in the hurry up and he
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: has absolutely brought that forward. For them to get off
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: eight plays in under a minute, I mean they got
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: the ball back with less than a minute, they get
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: eight plays off, and before that they get seven plays
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: off in a p pretty quick drive to get that
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: tying touchdown. He's been great and just a killer loss
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: for a Panthers team that that's trying to win the division.
- 1:45:07Speaker 4: Yeah, a blown opportunity for the Panthers.
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: I mean, the Buccaneers lose and you think, all right,
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: this is our opportunity to get a game lead in
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: this very tight battle. We're going to ascend while they
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: descend and fall apart, and Todd Bowles with an exploit
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: of laced rant after their loss, Right, this is when
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: we sees the moment.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: Now, this is when we let the.
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: Saints back into the game and lose a tough one
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: in the Superdome that we're definitely gonna wish we had
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: back by the time this regular season ends. It's rough
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: because I thought for two weeks in a row, I
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: was going to get a game in which we had
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: a total of eight possessions for each team, you know,
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: one of those weird games. Because the Panthers are going
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: on these methodical, very long scoring drives and Bryce Young
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: makes a beautiful pass to Jalen Kocher down the sideline
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: for a touchdown, and I'm thinking, here we go. They're
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: going to do just enough to win, but I forgot
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: about the fact that Tyler Schuck was standing on the
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: other sideline there to ruin the Panthers.
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: He's becoming a shuckhead. I love it.
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: I've gotta get a better nickname than that.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: He's going to be the same starting quarterback next year.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: I'm telling you, what did I say this week? He's
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: got the goods, he just needs reps.
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: I don't know if he has the goods or not.
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: They're down to seventh in Tankathon, tied with a couple
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: of teams, but right now they're at seventh. Now that
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: they're four and ten, I just think he's played well
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: enough that they're gonna want to see more. And I
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: certainly expect Kellen Moore to be back in everything, and
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: I think they're gonna push it forward. And I think
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: that makes sense at this point, the way that he's played.
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: He keeps playing better each and every week. And yeah,
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: it was a game with very few possessions and the
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: Panthers get the ball three times in the fourth quarter,
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: they don't score, and the Saints play their best then
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: And I misspoke on our Thursday Night pod, I had
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: it wrong kind of thinking about well, if you know
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: the Panthers and the Bucks split. Now the Bucks could
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: lose the division and it wasn't could, it was they would.
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: And if the Panthers had just won this game shook,
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: they could have won the division next week just by
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: beating the Bucks the first time, because all they needed
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: was a split. And so that's really what changes in
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: terms of the stakes. Now the Bucks are right back
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: pretty much on even ground, although the Panthers I believe,
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: have the tiebreaker right now, and it just gives life.
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: And it's kind of like we talked about with the Bears,
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: they pass a certain test, like blowing out a team
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: you're supposed to. Well, the Panthers not only didn't blow
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: out the Saints, they got swept by the Saints.
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: I also think that this part of the season is
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: such an interesting examination of the psychology of different NFL
- 1:47:27Speaker 3: teams because I compare that to the game we just
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: talked about, Like, the Browns look like they're ready for
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: vacation right the Saints are playing their tails off for
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: Kellen Moore, like they're playing with full effort as if
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: they're in the playoff race. The Panthers are somewhere in
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: between where they don't really know how to handle the
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: fact that they're at a playoff race and get a
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: job done and take care of business in a game
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: like this, and the Buccaneers can't figure anything out. Like
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: you can be in so many different places in December
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: in the NFL, and oftentimes where you are, your record
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: doesn't reflect that, which is why it's so fascinating.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: Yeah, So they're at seven and seven and I think
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: a big concern for the Panthers is the run game
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: success has really fallen off the map over the last
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: five or six weeks, So they just have slimmer margin
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: for era. We'll see between them and the Bucks, who
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: is the better flawed team. Speaking of flawed teams, let's.
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: Get to Sunday night.
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: The Vikings and the Cowboys may have some wartz, but
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: they are fun to watch.
- 1:48:19Speaker 25: What's Hawkins in emotion first and goal JJ looking right,
- 1:48:23Speaker 25: throwing right, cot touchdown, Shalon Newer with a tune touchdown
- 1:48:30Speaker 25: game and the Minnesota Vikings have taking off thirty to
- 1:48:34Speaker 25: twenty three lead.
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: Oh, it's great to hear a happy Paul Allen on
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: Vikings radio. The second touchdown for Lucky Naylor on the night.
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: We're calling him Lucky from now on. I don't know
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: when that happened. I missed it. The first one was
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: a die from JJ McCarthy. Vikings win thirty four to
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: twenty six. The Cowboys are all but eliminated from playoff contention.
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: The Vikings were officially eliminated earlier on Sunday, while the
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: other NFC teams won but took. The season goes on
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: long enough for JJ McCarthy to suddenly be a hero
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: the last two weeks, and it's gone long on long
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: enough for the Cowboys defense to be the worst, and
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: then everyone says Jerry saved the season, and now we're
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: right back to being one of the worst again.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: The season is rather long, but we're getting to the end.
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: And the marathon continues long enough for your over under
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: choice with the Cowboys to be in peril as we
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: have three more games left in the schedule now, ye yeah, bring.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: It up if you don't think that. That's all I
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: was thinking about. Could they win two out of these
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: last three during this game? And should I actually send
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: out a tweet about like, oh, it's been a journey
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: if you've been tracking this over under. But I don't
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: want it to make it all about me, let's make
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: it about the Cowboys. It's the most Cowboys way to
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: tank the season. You beat the two Super Bowl teams
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: from a year ago, who I know are not at
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: their best, and then you followed that up with these
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: back to back losses, including giving up thirty four points
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: to this Vikings team.
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: Yep, yep, the Cowboys defense is back to being terrible.
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: It's back to not being able to stop the run
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: on crucial downs. It's back to getting bullied in the
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: interior in the trenches on a night when they didn't
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: even give up a ton of rushing yards but just
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: in key spots, couldn't get stops in third and short
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: and fourth and short, and ultimately, yeah, you give up
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: a gross total to JJ McCarthy led offense that a
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: couple of weeks ago, two three weeks ago was basically
- 1:50:27Speaker 3: dead on arrival as soon as they took the field,
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: and then they put up a bunch of points against
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: the low the opponent last week, and now suddenly they
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: can apparently throw the ball over the yard because JJ's
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: worst pass was one of his first of the night
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: that resulted in a bad interception.
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: The rest of the night was pretty good for him.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: That was literally his first pass, I believe, and you're thinking, Okay,
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: it's going to be a long night, but no, they
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: moved the ball well, and I think last week they
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: managed him well and he played well within the scheme
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: and that was true tonight to some degree.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: But he had some great throws. He has a.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: Seamball to Dotkinson that he absolutely ripped. He had that
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: bomb to Addison. The first touchdown that I mentioned to
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: Naylor was money. He looked great tonight and I know
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: that the Cowboys offense has made a lot of quarterbacks
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: look great, and so maybe they had the right answers
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: to the test, but he got to show off his athleticism.
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: He's doing the gritty like before he gets in the
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: end zone on a rushing touchdown.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: This final month.
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: Could be really big for JJ McCarthy and the Vikings
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: just feel better about themselves.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: They're looking more like the Vikings team we expected.
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and Vikings fans are gonna lament the fact that
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: he came too late, but it's all encouraging signs of
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: progress going into next season, which is all you can
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: look toward now that you're eliminated from playoff contention. You know,
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: on that as he's grittying across the goal line and
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: watching the way he's holding the football and I'm thinking,
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: oh God, don't drop it. Don't don't drop the ball
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: doing the gritty, Please don't drop the ball. But we
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: have one more thriller we need to bring up that
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: I thought was his best throw the night of any
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: which was the fourth and three play where he hits
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: Naylor on a twenty three yard or down the right
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: side where he throws a back shoulder to him. And
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: this is like I think a player too sure He's
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: sailed a pass to an open justin Jefferson and he
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: comes right back and puts it perfectly on Naylor where
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: the defender I think it was revel and coverage again
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: could not make a play on it.
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: And he did that well on the run like it was.
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: It was an excellent toss.
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: It shows you the glimpses of yeah, he might not
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: have the strongest arm of the world, because if he
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: had left, you know, a little bit more out there,
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: I believe as Addison would have been able to catch
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: and run it into the end zone for a touchdown
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: instead of giving that touchdown to CJ.
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: Ham, which shot out for a fullback touchdown.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: We love those, but he still has this accuracy that
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: comes and goes, and I think we'll be fixed over
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: time with more work with Kevin O'Connell. You know, he's
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: talked a lot about marrying the eyes and the feet,
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: and you're seeing small steps of progress. But you know,
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: give him a year or two. If they give him
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: that long of a leash, maybe he gets a lot
- 1:52:40Speaker 3: better in that department. It becomes a more complete quarterback.
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: Because I'll tell you what, We've always known this about him.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: He's a gamer and he's a tough player, and he
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: definitely showed that off tonight.
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and they've gone to eleven personnel, so yeah, three
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: wide receivers on the field at all times and changing
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: the offense a little bit and it's worked. So you
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: could either look at that as a positive or wonder
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: maybe they should have done that before. But that's neither
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: here nor there. It's just funny to me that the
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: Cowboys had so many things go right this year. Dak
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: playing great, the rise of Pickins, you know, the trade
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: for Quinn Williams looks great for a while, and then
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: here they are with the defense looking worse than ever,
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: we learned that Treron Diggs was not activated for this game,
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: and it sounds like he might be done with the
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: Cowboys for good. Revel comes back from that injury he struggled,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: which he's coming off a serious injury. I'm going to
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: give some grace to a rookie, and we're questioning George
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: Pickens's effort, who had another mediocre game, and even Dak
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: Prescott said, like I could tell like he didn't have
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: it pretty early last week, and that was a game
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: to go to Ceedee lamdmore So, it's just more of
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: the same and it's disappointing.
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: They have not officially been eliminated.
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: But if the Eagles beat the Commanders on Saturday next
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: week that's one of those Saturday games, then the Cowboys
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: will be officially eliminated. So they're done. And I was
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: looking at that Christmas slate. I feel bad for Netflix here,
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: you know, as bad as you can feel for like
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: a billionaire corporation, whatever you want to call Netflix.
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: And those games do not look great.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: Four out of the six teams have already you know,
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: been eliminated. Commanders and Cowboys are out, and now the Vikings,
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: of course are out.
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: And the Chiefs.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Who would have thought the Chiefs in big spot would
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: would kind of be a dead team walking. But just
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: to recap the day before we say goodbye, the Chiefs eliminated,
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: the Vikings eliminated, the Bengals have been officially eliminated. And yes,
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: as Jordan mentioned, the Saints, I mean the Rams rather
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: have clinched the playoff spot. They're the only team in
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: the NFC to do so, and the Broncos should have
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: given them their flowers are the first to do so
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: do so.
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: In the AFC.
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: And this raises the final big picture thought I'll have
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: for you, Shook. I'm all about these playoff races, and
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: there's a lot of really good games and seedings, and
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: we still got to figure out who's gonna win the
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: AFC North between the Steelers and the Ravens, they got
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: a big matchup. We got to figure out who's gonna
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: win the NFC South. We got to figure out who's
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: gonna win the NFC West. And of those first two divisions,
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: only one team is gonna make the playoffs.
- 1:55:14Speaker 2: There's actually not a lot.
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: To decide in these wildcard races down the stretch. I
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: feel like, you know, if the Lions have two games
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: to make up on the forty nine ers or else
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: we know who's making it in the NFC, and then
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: forty nine ers have a tough closing slate there where
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: where they could lose two games they finished with the
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: Bears and the Seahawks. The Lions do have hope and
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: in the AFC, unless Philip Rivers leads the Colts on
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: like kind of a miracle run, we kind of know
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: who all.
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: The teams are gonna be in the AFC as well.
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: Just figuring out who's gonna win the AFC North a
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: little disappointing.
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: Yeah, the puzzle pieces can still move around with some
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: of these division battles still being up for grabs, you know,
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: Houston making interesting the South with Indianapolis and also with Jacksonville.
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: But ultimately, yeah, for the most part, we know it's
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: a bad time for the in the hunt graphic because
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: you're losing, right, And so I think to close all
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: of that, I'll just say, in honor of our dear
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: friend Chris Westling, to all the teams that you just listed,
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: he going they go.
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: They're all gone.
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'm glad you raised that point because the
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: division races are great, and we have a lot of
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: matchups that are going to be playoff preview type games
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: and really decides seeding, including that Rams Seahawks game on
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: Thursday night where the Rams can be thinking either we're
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: going to be home and indoors and have a buy
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: or we're potentially on the road and playing outdoors for
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: three weeks. So it's a lot of those types of games. Broncos, Chargers,
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: Patriots and Bills. We still don't know who's going to
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: win that division, Texans and Jaguars. Who's gonna win there?
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: But you have the wildcard races not done, but they're
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: kind of decided, and you know what could be even
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: further decided. Dolphins playing to stay alive on Monday Night Football,
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: obviously a massive game for the Pittsburgh Steelers. You and
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: I Shook will be recapping the game live on YouTube.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: Steelers and Dolphins appreciate you, my friend.
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: I appreciate you, and I'd really appreciate it if somehow
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: a football could get stuck in the mud at Akroshuer
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: Stadium and just repeat that great moment from a primetime
- 1:57:12Speaker 3: game between these two teams years ago.
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: Okay, hit the music I totally agree, and I think
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: that's going to be a fun game. That game means
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: a lot. So we were thinking of taking the YouTube
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: live and just putting that on Thursday, but why not
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: do it on both nights. So we're going live on
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: YouTube after each one of those games. Bummer of a
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: day with Parsons and Holmes and DeVante, but the football
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: carried us through. Join us Monday night. We'll see you
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: that
