- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:29Some fun news over. Here had a friend who was giving
- 0:32away five of his hands so we were able to take them in and
- 0:36now we're trying to get them assimilated into the group which
- 0:40I thought was kind of an interesting thing because we can
- 0:42talk about how hard it is to assimilate new things in because
- 0:46it's our time of the year when we're trying to do that for
- 0:48ourselves they are definitely struggling to figure out what
- 0:54the rules are in the hierarchy of the group here.
- 0:57All is good though, nobody's hurt.
- 0:59So that's all good thing. The chicken world is very
- 1:01interesting. They like their habits, and I
- 1:03just always loved to use this as a metaphor with you guys.
- 1:06Because boy, do we like our own habits and it's hard to start
- 1:09them off. So, here we are.
- 1:10New year, starting off new habits, trying to get them into
- 1:14new habits. But right now, they're not
- 1:16habits, quite yet. We're still stuck in the old
- 1:18patterns of. So, you know, we talked about
- 1:21setting it up, being patient with yourself yesterday.
- 1:23And here's a big piece of this that I want to add in today.
- 1:27This is all about your level of Of commitment before you go in
- 1:32because it's really easy to keep on track when you want to do
- 1:37something and you're excited about it.
- 1:38But how you handle it? When you don't want to do it is
- 1:42the biggest issue. You have to get yourself into a
- 1:45place where you are committed before you actually get to the
- 1:49place of not wanting to do it. So, in other words, you have to
- 1:52stop and pause and ask yourself. Okay, what am I going to do?
- 1:56How am I going to handle this? When I don't want to get out of
- 1:59bed when I don't. Wake up that time of the morning
- 2:02when I don't want to work out when I don't want to do the
- 2:04paperwork that I said I was going to do, how are you going
- 2:07to handle it in those moments? And that's the defining Factor,
- 2:11you need to know that going into it.
- 2:12I don't care what anybody else tells you I'm telling you from
- 2:17years of experience of doing this.
- 2:19If you don't have a plan going into something for how you will
- 2:23handle it in those moments, and you get that situation
- 2:27straightened out in your head actually before Or you're in the
- 2:31emotion of that, you will fail at it.
- 2:34So think of it like this, it's really hard for me to figure
- 2:38something out when I'm, in an emotional state, because as you
- 2:40guys have heard me say, many times when emotions go up
- 2:43intelligence goes down. So when you're emotional, when
- 2:46you're frustrated, when you're tired, when you don't want to
- 2:48wake up, when you're lying in bed and you know, you're
- 2:50supposed to get up and you're trying to figure out a solution
- 2:53at that point and you're already in the emotion of not wanting to
- 2:56do it, you will not come up with a solution.
- 2:58You will just stick to the old pattern because The easiest
- 3:01thing to default to what you need to do, is have the plan
- 3:04before that happens. So you have to tell yourself
- 3:09what that looks like. So when I first started walking
- 3:11because you, anybody knows me knows, I'm obsessed with
- 3:14walking, I love walking, I love getting, there's nothing more
- 3:18exciting to me than getting my Fitbit at the end of the year.
- 3:21Totals and I can see it. And I had over 5,500,000,
- 3:25something steps this year and I was like, wow, that's awesome.
- 3:28I have a new logo for 6 million for next year.
- 3:30I know that sounds crazy but for me walking is just it's it's
- 3:35just something that clears. My head makes me super creative
- 3:37keeps me on target with my clients.
- 3:39It just it just works really well when I'm talking to people.
- 3:41So I walk a lot when I first started, I did not walk a lot.
- 3:46It was something I needed to do to be healthy.
- 3:49I needed to get myself out going and at the time, worst case
- 3:53scenario, I because I needed to lose weight at that time.
- 3:56I had plantar, fasciitis and my foot her all the freaking time.
- 4:01Could not get it to stop. So my strategy was I'm going to
- 4:04walk myself through it and I told myself this during the day,
- 4:08I'm just going to go. I had the plan, it was all great
- 4:11and the morning when I would wake up and my foot was frozen
- 4:13and I didn't want to get up and walk.
- 4:15I was like, I just don't want to do this and my head talk to my
- 4:19coach about it, and it was just like, you know, you got to power
- 4:21through it. But what I discovered for myself
- 4:24at that point was making the decisions in those moments by
- 4:28myself with the emotion that I Was currently in that was
- 4:31dysfunctional was not getting me anywhere.
- 4:33So I had to have a plan. So what I started to do was
- 4:36write myself a note and make on the piece of paper, the
- 4:41commitment big in Sharpie and then I would put that note
- 4:45inside my sneakers and put my sneakers on the side table.
- 4:48So when I went to look at the clock to see what time it was or
- 4:51you know, rolled over because I don't really set a clock.
- 4:54I just kind of wake up when I say I'm going to wake up as
- 4:56weird as that may sound but I would wake up that time and
- 4:59there's my sneakers. Hit me with the note in it that
- 5:01says you made a commitment to yourself to get out of bed.
- 5:05Well, I mean, come on what am I going to do in that moment, not
- 5:09get my ass out of bed. Very, very poignant to see the
- 5:13my handwriting telling me you made a commitment to yourself
- 5:16and it worked every single time and my sneakers were just
- 5:19looking at me, you know, and I drew little little smiley faces
- 5:23right on the tips in the front, you know, where the little
- 5:25rubber comes up over your toes. I drew a little smiley faces.
- 5:28So my sneakers were just looking at me and I'm like, I'm getting
- 5:31up. So have a plan figure out what
- 5:34it is, put it together now so you can succeed.
- 5:36All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow and I hope you
- 5:39have a very blessed day. Bye.
