- 0:12Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
- 0:15Speaker 1: Lazar and Alex Barth.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Blazarre and Lazarre. He everybody nailed it, joined as always
- 0:22Speaker 2: by our bar Ga Gavi.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Here is Evan Lazar and Alex bar So.
- 0:29Speaker 3: They're throwing the football almost seventy percent of the time
- 0:32Speaker 3: with Burrow or Flacco.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It's the numbers are stagged.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Today, ranked second in the league in past attempts, thirty
- 0:37Speaker 1: second in Russian house.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It's bizarre because their run game is not terrible, and
- 0:40Speaker 3: Chase Brown's a good player. Now, maybe he's more of
- 0:42Speaker 3: like a scat back than a true downhill between the
- 0:45Speaker 3: tackles back, and maybe they need a compliment to Chase
- 0:48Speaker 3: Brown to be able to do that. But you know
- 0:51Speaker 3: the book, and this is with Chase, so I'll put
- 0:54Speaker 3: that caveat on there. But the book that's been forming
- 0:56Speaker 3: against this Flacco iteration of the Bengals is all right,
- 1:00Speaker 3: we're just gonna play two high safeties. We're gonna put
- 1:02Speaker 3: one safety over Chase. We're gonna put one safety over Higgins.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Joe Flacco's not going anywhere, so we don't have to
- 1:08Speaker 3: worry about him scrambling and we know you're not gonna
- 1:11Speaker 3: run the ball tops tops. To the Bengals credit out
- 1:18Speaker 3: they ran the ball a little bit in this game. Yeah,
- 1:20Speaker 3: they adjusted, and I thought that they actually had And
- 1:23Speaker 3: I'm not doing this to put lipstick on a pig
- 1:27Speaker 3: or anything like that for the Patriots, not that I
- 1:31Speaker 3: have to. They still won the game. But I actually
- 1:35Speaker 3: thought the Bengals had a really good coaching performance in
- 1:39Speaker 3: this game. From a game plan perspective. I know some
- 1:41Speaker 3: people are nippicky about some of their decisions, some of
- 1:44Speaker 3: their kick decisions and fourth downs things like that, but
- 1:47Speaker 3: I thought that defensively they were buttoned up, had a
- 1:52Speaker 3: good plan. I thought offensively, buttoned up had a good plan.
- 1:56Speaker 3: They knew the Patriots were shorthanded in the middle of
- 1:58Speaker 3: the defense without Milton Williams, and then Tonga goes out
- 2:01Speaker 3: pretty early in the game, and to their credit, they
- 2:05Speaker 3: handed the ball off to Chase Brown and let them
- 2:07Speaker 3: run it downhill at the Patriots.
- 2:09Speaker 2: So I want to give the Bagels a little bit
- 2:11Speaker 2: of credit.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I think that they they played a good game, they
- 2:14Speaker 3: played desperate, They coached well in this game. It was
- 2:18Speaker 3: a good game for Cincinnati. Now with that being said,
- 2:22Speaker 3: the Patriots have won nine in a row. If you've
- 2:24Speaker 3: heard that, They're ten and two. They are in a
- 2:27Speaker 3: great spot right now, with one game left until they're
- 2:30Speaker 3: bye week. But at the same time, you know, I
- 2:35Speaker 3: hate I hate being this guy. I hate being the like,
- 2:39Speaker 3: you know, the one that kind of like rains on
- 2:41Speaker 3: the parade of the nine straight wins after a big
- 2:44Speaker 3: w But at the same time, this injury to Will
- 2:49Speaker 3: Campbell looms large.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It just does.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And at this point, between losing Will Campbell, Jared Wilson,
- 2:58Speaker 3: and Milton Williams, I think Tongo will be all right,
- 3:01Speaker 3: but losing those three guys, it is really going to
- 3:05Speaker 3: be a challenge for this team. And I'm surprised a
- 3:09Speaker 3: little bit by some of the talking points coming out
- 3:13Speaker 3: of this game. I'm surprised how like calm everybody is
- 3:15Speaker 3: about this, where now all of a sudden they have
- 3:18Speaker 3: all this you know, built up trust in everybody in
- 3:22Speaker 3: the operation and the coaching staff that oh, yeah, well,
- 3:25Speaker 3: Campbell'll be fine, right, They'll put Viderien Low in there,
- 3:29Speaker 3: they'll give him help, and it'll be fine.
- 3:31Speaker 2: And I think that there's some truth to that.
- 3:34Speaker 3: But at the same time, I do have to kind
- 3:38Speaker 3: of go back to some of my prior feelings about
- 3:41Speaker 3: this team coming into the season and not be completely
- 3:44Speaker 3: jaded by a nine game winning streak. And look at
- 3:47Speaker 3: what we thought about this roster when it was assembled.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Was much better frontline talent, much better starting eleven on
- 3:57Speaker 3: both sides of the football. Do they have the depth?
- 4:01Speaker 3: Do they have the depth to with stand an injury
- 4:04Speaker 3: to will Campbell? Do they have the depth to restain,
- 4:08Speaker 3: you know, with stand an injury to Milton Williams, two
- 4:10Speaker 3: guys that I think that were at the very top
- 4:12Speaker 3: of the list if you had to put on the
- 4:15Speaker 3: list of the most important Patriots besides Drake May, I
- 4:20Speaker 3: might say that Campbell.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And Williams were your two most important guys.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Well, we even talked about this last week that defensive
- 4:26Speaker 1: tackle was the one spot that the Patriots could maybe
- 4:29Speaker 1: absorb that and it was going to make a difference,
- 4:32Speaker 1: And it did make a difference not having them now.
- 4:34Speaker 1: They also lost Tonga, which we obviously weren't factoring in
- 4:37Speaker 1: last week. We talked about like that was the one
- 4:39Speaker 1: kind of position where they had the depth to maybe
- 4:44Speaker 1: absorb that kind of loss. Offensive line definitely not.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't maybe this is just knee jerk
- 4:52Speaker 3: off of one game, but it's really two games because
- 4:54Speaker 3: Milton Williams barely played against the Jets either. But I thought,
- 4:58Speaker 3: in particular against this this Bengals team, you know, we
- 5:02Speaker 3: just talked about off the top of the show, how
- 5:04Speaker 3: they ran the ball pretty effectively on the Patriots, and
- 5:07Speaker 3: I didn't really think there was much of a pass
- 5:09Speaker 3: rush until late in the game, on that last drive
- 5:12Speaker 3: where they kind of started to heat it up a
- 5:14Speaker 3: little bit because they had to pass. You know, the
- 5:17Speaker 3: Bengals had to throw the ball, so you start to
- 5:20Speaker 3: accumulate pressures and things like that when you know the
- 5:25Speaker 3: other team is going to drop that pass with no
- 5:27Speaker 3: play action or no run game, it's easier to tee off.
- 5:30Speaker 3: So I want to talk a little bit about, you know,
- 5:33Speaker 3: how they're gonna move forward here in the short term
- 5:36Speaker 3: without Campbell, without Jared Wilson, But I don't want I'm
- 5:42Speaker 3: just I guess I'm just a little bit surprised by
- 5:46Speaker 3: how nonchalant a lot of people are being about these injuries,
- 5:50Speaker 3: because again, I think that we knew that their roster
- 5:54Speaker 3: was better, and we knew that they improved the roster,
- 5:57Speaker 3: especially the frontline play at the top of the roster.
- 6:01Speaker 3: They had a better left tackle, they had a better
- 6:03Speaker 3: defensive tackle with Williams, they had better players at the
- 6:06Speaker 3: top of the roster. But if I could go back
- 6:09Speaker 3: to August and replay everything that all of us said
- 6:12Speaker 3: in August, it was that they still don't have great
- 6:15Speaker 3: depth on the roster. Now we're twelve weeks into the
- 6:19Speaker 3: season and they're ten to two, and all of a sudden,
- 6:22Speaker 3: everybody's fine with it, right, And I guess I'm just
- 6:25Speaker 3: a little bit surprised by that. I don't know how
- 6:27Speaker 3: you feel about it.
- 6:28Speaker 1: A little bit. Look, I think when the team's going good,
- 6:30Speaker 1: people are gonna feel more confident. I remember, you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: back in the in the Brady days, with a little
- 6:37Speaker 1: the flying elms on the side of the helmet, the
- 6:38Speaker 1: flying elvis on the side of the helmet, the that'll
- 6:40Speaker 1: we find the do they Brady yep? Do they bill yup?
- 6:42Speaker 1: They'll be good. And maybe there's a little bit of
- 6:44Speaker 1: that creeping in. Maybe some of it is. It didn't
- 6:48Speaker 1: immediately fall apart with Lowe and Ben Brown against the Bengals,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and that may have helped. So you know, I'm not
- 6:56Speaker 1: entirely sure. But I'm with you, I'm a little surprised
- 6:58Speaker 1: how how confident people are after this injury. Yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 3: So I think a lot of this confidence stems from
- 7:06Speaker 3: Josh McDaniels, Doug Moron, Jason Hoddling, Ryan Coogler, and this
- 7:13Speaker 3: whole operation that they have going on with the offensive
- 7:16Speaker 3: line and the coordinator.
- 7:17Speaker 2: There's no doubt about it that Josh McDaniels is.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Much He's very very good and maybe one of the
- 7:26Speaker 3: best I've seen at scripting pass protection, right, Like, how
- 7:31Speaker 3: can we help tackles, chip help, you know, changing pitches, sliding,
- 7:36Speaker 3: moving the pocket, like doing different things that you can
- 7:39Speaker 3: do to avoid putting these tackles out on an island
- 7:43Speaker 3: where they're you know, just one on one all game
- 7:45Speaker 3: long against Abdull Carter and Brian Burns right on Monday night.
- 7:49Speaker 3: So there's some built up trust in mcdaniels's ability to
- 7:55Speaker 3: scheme around a left tackle that is a backup. And
- 7:59Speaker 3: I get that, and I think that that's very very true.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I think we both probably feel that it's gonna be
- 8:06Speaker 3: Verderian Low. I don't see why it wouldn't be Vederian Low.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Here moving forward at left tackle. I don't think that
- 8:12Speaker 3: there's a huge drop off from Wilson to Ben Brown.
- 8:16Speaker 1: They talked about if.
- 8:18Speaker 2: It was just that, I don't think I would be
- 8:20Speaker 2: all that concerned.
- 8:22Speaker 3: But obviously, you know, Vederian Lowe not just based off
- 8:26Speaker 3: of last year. It just it's based off of a
- 8:30Speaker 3: lot of seeing Vederian low play and it's going to
- 8:34Speaker 3: be a drop off there. But mcdaniels's ability to you know,
- 8:38Speaker 3: like I said, to support tackles, whether that's chip help,
- 8:43Speaker 3: whether that's moving or sliding protection, whether that's moving the pocket,
- 8:48Speaker 3: whether that's you know, scripting run and play action, and
- 8:51Speaker 3: then not really getting into those traditional drop back settings
- 8:54Speaker 3: as much. You know, you don't want to get behind
- 8:56Speaker 3: against this Giants team or a backup left tackle. You
- 8:59Speaker 3: don't want you want to play the games on your terms.
- 9:02Speaker 3: You want to play the games on schedule so that
- 9:04Speaker 3: you can stay in favorable down in distance and that
- 9:07Speaker 3: way there you're not in third and nine and just
- 9:09Speaker 3: expecting these guys to pass block a lot uh one
- 9:13Speaker 3: on one on islands.
- 9:14Speaker 2: There's all that stuff is fair, you know.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I think the other thing that kind of has a
- 9:19Speaker 3: trickle down effect on this a little bit and I
- 9:22Speaker 3: think it might go hand in hand with the Munford
- 9:25Speaker 3: signing yesterday, is that I would expect the Patriots to
- 9:29Speaker 3: want to load up in protection a little.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Bit more now.
- 9:33Speaker 3: So they've done this already at a pretty decent clip,
- 9:38Speaker 3: you know, using six offensive lines, using like max protection
- 9:43Speaker 3: where they're only sending like two or three receivers into
- 9:46Speaker 3: the route at a time, and really putting like six
- 9:49Speaker 3: seven guys in the protection to kind of load up
- 9:52Speaker 3: the protection. Munford in the past has been with Josh
- 9:56Speaker 3: McDaniels in Vegas, and Josh McDaniels used him him in
- 10:00Speaker 3: that jumbo tight end role in Las Vegas. Now it
- 10:04Speaker 3: was Ben Brown and now he's going to be starting.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Then it was Vederian Lowe, and now he's going to
- 10:09Speaker 3: be starting. So you know, now you have this trickle
- 10:12Speaker 3: down effect of how do you get another offensive lineman
- 10:15Speaker 3: on the field, and maybe that's Munford.
- 10:18Speaker 2: That would be my guess is what that's you.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Know, I think Marcus Brown, Marcus Bryant.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I think it's possible, but I feel like they they
- 10:25Speaker 3: didn't really do that. You know, like if they wanted
- 10:27Speaker 3: to do that on Sunday, they would have.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Well, but they were practicing with Low as the extra
- 10:33Speaker 1: lineman or Brown is the extra lineman, right, Maybe they weren't,
- 10:36Speaker 1: but now this week that's something you installed just because
- 10:38Speaker 1: he's been here.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you could do that. You could do that.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I like his athleticism in that role.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you could do that too. I think that that's
- 10:46Speaker 3: you know, a big part of too. And we'll get
- 10:48Speaker 3: to you know, the good, the bad, and the stuff
- 10:50Speaker 3: that gets to be here in a second. That that's
- 10:52Speaker 3: a big part of the goal line stuff to me
- 10:55Speaker 3: as well. Was Now Campbell was in it for both
- 11:00Speaker 3: line stands, but you get into this position where you
- 11:03Speaker 3: know you don't have Tonga, you don't have the package
- 11:07Speaker 3: of the six to zero line or the seven if
- 11:09Speaker 3: you want to count Tonga as an offensive lineman. They
- 11:12Speaker 3: use that against the Jets a little bit where they
- 11:14Speaker 3: had Ben Brown eligible and then they had Tonga eligible,
- 11:18Speaker 3: and they really had like seven beefy dudes on the field, right,
- 11:23Speaker 3: and they were able to run it in with Traveon Henderson.
- 11:27Speaker 3: If you you didn't have that at your disposal against
- 11:31Speaker 3: Cincinnati because of all the injuries, right, So you know
- 11:33Speaker 3: that that's a big part of that as well. So
- 11:35Speaker 3: I think that they're going to have some flexibility there
- 11:38Speaker 3: and try to figure out how to get back to
- 11:41Speaker 3: some of those packages as well. But my main, you know,
- 11:44Speaker 3: big point, and I want to get to some of
- 11:46Speaker 3: the more specific reasons why I'm a little small sea
- 11:49Speaker 3: concerned about all of this is one, I don't know
- 11:54Speaker 3: if this roster is ready to handle these types of injuries.
- 11:59Speaker 3: If they had an in and I don't want to
- 12:01Speaker 3: name names because I don't want to like single anybody
- 12:03Speaker 3: out that didn't act like, oh, that player is not important,
- 12:06Speaker 3: But if they had an injury to a wide receiver,
- 12:09Speaker 3: you know, Kashawan Boody, since he was hurt, Kayshawn Boody
- 12:12Speaker 3: goes out. Okay, you know, not ideal, But I think
- 12:15Speaker 3: that you had some depth there. I think you had
- 12:17Speaker 3: some NFL players there. I think this was the one
- 12:20Speaker 3: spot they couldn't lose his left tackle, and I think
- 12:23Speaker 3: Milan Williams was playing at such a high level that
- 12:26Speaker 3: that was another player that kind of got created there.
- 12:29Speaker 3: The other thing that I would say is, and you
- 12:31Speaker 3: know this is more of an US thing, ME thing. Yeah,
- 12:34Speaker 3: one of the biggest reasons to me why the Patriots
- 12:37Speaker 3: have done a one to eighty here and gone from
- 12:40Speaker 3: four wins to ten wins. Is the improvement in the trenches, obviously,
- 12:44Speaker 3: Drake May's improvement, the coaching improvement with Mike Rabel and
- 12:48Speaker 3: Josh McDaniel's huge part of it as well. But they
- 12:52Speaker 3: have really done a great job and it's not perfect,
- 12:57Speaker 3: but their level again on the offensive line, they're like
- 13:00Speaker 3: league average again on the offensive line. So instead of
- 13:03Speaker 3: being the worst offensive line in football year ago in
- 13:06Speaker 3: twenty twenty four, in twenty twenty five, they're probably like
- 13:09Speaker 3: the sixteenth best offensive line, and that has just been
- 13:13Speaker 3: such a huge part of what they've been able to do.
- 13:17Speaker 2: So now you're putting two.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Guys in there and Ben Brown and Vederian Lowe that
- 13:22Speaker 3: you were trying to move on from, like you were
- 13:24Speaker 3: trying to upgrade from that were on.
- 13:26Speaker 2: That line last year.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Now you have three out of the five guys that
- 13:30Speaker 3: were playing for you last year and not going to
- 13:32Speaker 3: be playing if you count on WHENU as well.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Right, and what at a different position, right, So like.
- 13:36Speaker 3: It's it's just a big difference. Let's get to the good,
- 13:39Speaker 3: the bad, and the stuff that gets you beat, because
- 13:42Speaker 3: there is there's some good from this game. And I
- 13:44Speaker 3: don't want to be all doom and gloom. And I
- 13:46Speaker 3: told you, I hate I hate being that one.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I hate being I.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Hate being the negative guy. I hate it. No, I
- 13:50Speaker 2: don't like doing it.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You don't like fun either, So what do you like?
- 13:54Speaker 1: I don't.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I hate being the negative guy, especially at ten and two.
- 13:58Speaker 3: But I just feel like it's it's important, Like I
- 14:02Speaker 3: don't know, Like I said, I'm just I'm shocked that
- 14:04Speaker 3: everybody's just kind of whistling past the graveyard here with this.
- 14:07Speaker 1: No, I it's it is fun, like they've One night,
- 14:10Speaker 1: there was a I'm trying to remember exactly the stat
- 14:13Speaker 1: they said on Monday Night Football. Find it. They they
- 14:16Speaker 1: either tied or broke it's the longest winning streak and
- 14:19Speaker 1: franchise history without Tom Brady at quarterback. Yeah that's significant. Yeah,
- 14:24Speaker 1: that's very sick. I don't remember which one it was.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Let me find it because I want to make sure
- 14:28Speaker 1: I the right one. But I heard them sound like
- 14:30Speaker 1: they said it late in the game because obviously they're
- 14:32Speaker 1: pumping up Patriots giants squeak, and I kind of sat up.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I was like, already, wow, Yeah, so no, it's absolutely significant.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Okay, So let's get to the good, the bad, and
- 14:42Speaker 2: the stuff that gets to be from this win over
- 14:44Speaker 2: the Bengals. Still a win, still a win.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Keep saying that I thought that in this game, starting
- 14:50Speaker 3: with the good Drake May stuff, and then we'll get
- 14:52Speaker 3: to the not so good Drake May stuff, but starting
- 14:55Speaker 3: with the good Drake May stuff.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Also, by the way, Yeah, it's now the longest winning
- 14:59Speaker 1: streak in fra chi's history without a guy named Tom
- 15:01Speaker 1: Brady under center.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's impressive. It's their longest win streak since twenty fifteen.
- 15:07Speaker 3: That was arguably the Wheels fell off late with injuries,
- 15:11Speaker 3: but that was arguably one of the best Patriots teams
- 15:13Speaker 3: of the twenty ten.
- 15:14Speaker 1: The only so on Pro Football Reference, they have a
- 15:17Speaker 1: box for limit streak to a single season. Are we
- 15:19Speaker 1: counting that?
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yes, so then it's only within one season like the
- 15:22Speaker 2: three to zero four, So.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Okay, I just want to make sure. Yeah, so Brady
- 15:26Speaker 1: won obviously sixteen games in a row and O seven,
- 15:30Speaker 1: they won twelve in a row and O three, and
- 15:33Speaker 1: they won ten in a row and fifteen. So Brady's
- 15:35Speaker 1: only a three longer winning streaks in this Yeah. Yeah,
- 15:38Speaker 1: it's nuts.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yep, it is nuts, and it's it's something not to
- 15:43Speaker 3: take for granted. It really and I don't mean that,
- 15:45Speaker 3: you know, no, you're absolutely to sugarcoat it, but it
- 15:47Speaker 3: really isn't all right, So go into you know, the
- 15:50Speaker 3: specifics here with Drake May. I thought what stood out
- 15:54Speaker 3: to me in this game from Drake May didn't have
- 15:57Speaker 3: his best stuff like this is like you know when
- 15:59Speaker 3: Garrett Crouch has like, you know, an off night, but
- 16:02Speaker 3: still gets through six innings and is still gives you
- 16:05Speaker 3: a chance to.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Win the game.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Right, That's what Drake May did for the Patriots on Sunday.
- 16:09Speaker 3: He still made three high level great throws in this game.
- 16:13Speaker 3: The one to pop up the seam is one of
- 16:16Speaker 3: the best throws I've seen any quarterback make all year.
- 16:18Speaker 3: I don't think that's hyperbole that that throw is that good.
- 16:22Speaker 3: The back shoulders seem you know, a layered throw to
- 16:25Speaker 3: Austin Hooper beauty, the fade to Hollins on the sideline beauty.
- 16:31Speaker 3: You know, he still does this every single week even
- 16:33Speaker 3: when he doesn't play quite at his peak.
- 16:36Speaker 2: You know, three or four throws where.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Your jaw drops and you say, you know that is
- 16:41Speaker 3: that is why you know he's in the MVP conversation.
- 16:44Speaker 3: That's why everybody feels so great about where Drake May
- 16:47Speaker 3: is at. I still thought that those plays existed in
- 16:50Speaker 3: this game. I still was really happy with a lot
- 16:52Speaker 3: of the things that he did in this game, even
- 16:55Speaker 3: though it wasn't necessarily his best performance.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just to kind of blend the two, because
- 17:01Speaker 1: this one's kind of hard to do the good, the bad,
- 17:03Speaker 1: and stuff that gets you beat because so much of
- 17:04Speaker 1: it's intertwined. I thought what you saw from Drake Man
- 17:08Speaker 1: this game, I mean, he clearly wasn't right off the top,
- 17:11Speaker 1: like there was something he was not locked in. He
- 17:13Speaker 1: was not not we're usually is mentally that that the pick.
- 17:16Speaker 1: We've seen him hit Hunter Henry on that through a
- 17:18Speaker 1: number of times this year. He was able to settle in.
- 17:21Speaker 1: And what I thought the story this game was for
- 17:24Speaker 1: the Patriots offense was they were still able to produce
- 17:27Speaker 1: explosive plays at the rate that they typically have this year.
- 17:30Speaker 1: They're a handful of them in there. They had a
- 17:31Speaker 1: couple of Henry, they had the one to pop, they
- 17:33Speaker 1: had a couple two, or they had one of mac
- 17:35Speaker 1: Hollins down the sideline right yep, it was the in
- 17:39Speaker 1: between the explosives, like I found myself called them isolated
- 17:44Speaker 1: explosive plays, and Mike Vrabel kind of talked about this
- 17:47Speaker 1: after the game, that the coaches and the players need
- 17:49Speaker 1: to be able to bounce back from the good as
- 17:51Speaker 1: well as the bad. And it just felt like what's
- 17:55Speaker 1: made them so effective this year. Part of what's made
- 17:57Speaker 1: them so effective is they've stayed ahead his schedu Well,
- 18:00Speaker 1: something we talked to a lot about in the summer,
- 18:01Speaker 1: like for this offense to work, you've got to be
- 18:03Speaker 1: in second and six, you've got to be in third
- 18:05Speaker 1: and three, and you've got to stay ahead of that.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And look, they've bailed themselves out at times when they haven't,
- 18:10Speaker 1: but yeah, they've generally done a good job I think
- 18:12Speaker 1: of doing that. They didn't do that in this game.
- 18:15Speaker 1: In between the explosive plays. You didn't have the three
- 18:17Speaker 1: to four to five yard games just kind of carry
- 18:19Speaker 1: you down the field. It was a lot of nothing. Yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 1: but then they still hit the explosives that got them
- 18:24Speaker 1: the chunks when they needed them. So again, I hate
- 18:26Speaker 1: to jump ahead, but I like it's interesting when you
- 18:30Speaker 1: look at it in that sense from Drake May that
- 18:33Speaker 1: sometimes when a quarterback has an off day, the dink
- 18:37Speaker 1: and dunk is still there, but they don't have the
- 18:38Speaker 1: big play in them. This was the opposite. He's still
- 18:42Speaker 1: the big play in them. I think Henna in between.
- 18:45Speaker 1: But would you say that's more rare. I've definitely seen both.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Not for a quarterback that plays like him, that's fair
- 18:51Speaker 3: like I think Josh Allen's that's fairy right, where like
- 18:54Speaker 3: with him, it's gonna be You're still gonna have some haymakers.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Like even in the Thursday night game against Houston where
- 19:00Speaker 3: the Bills kind of got their butts kicked, Josh Allen
- 19:03Speaker 3: still made some big plays. But it's the consistency throughout
- 19:06Speaker 3: the entire game that isn't there. It's you know, a
- 19:09Speaker 3: bad interception, it's you know, things like that in terms
- 19:13Speaker 3: of the consistency of the offense.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And that was what you saw out of this game.
- 19:17Speaker 3: And I want to get to some of those things
- 19:19Speaker 3: because I think, you know, one of the main things
- 19:20Speaker 3: that gave Drake May problems not you know, now we're
- 19:24Speaker 3: jumping ahead together one of the.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Main things that gave Drake That's how you have to
- 19:27Speaker 1: talk about this game.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Drake May and the Patriots offense as a whole problems
- 19:31Speaker 3: was blitzes you know, cover zero specifically, but also you
- 19:35Speaker 3: know some well timed like safety and nickel blitzes as well.
- 19:39Speaker 3: And I think that that kind of goes back to
- 19:42Speaker 3: where my smalleste concerns are about these injuries on the
- 19:45Speaker 3: offensive line. This was one of the first games all
- 19:48Speaker 3: season long where I saw a defense kind of take
- 19:52Speaker 3: apart their protections a little bit. And to me, I
- 19:56Speaker 3: don't know, you know, I'm not in the angles, you know,
- 20:01Speaker 3: meeting rooms and game plan meeting so I don't know
- 20:03Speaker 3: if they saw something that you know, they could manipulate
- 20:08Speaker 3: or you know, a tendency or something like that about
- 20:11Speaker 3: the way the Patriots pass protect and you know, load
- 20:14Speaker 3: up in terms of protection when it comes to blitzes.
- 20:17Speaker 3: I don't know exactly what they saw that teed them
- 20:20Speaker 3: off to this, but they generated more free runners, you know,
- 20:24Speaker 3: unblocked pressures in this game than any other game the
- 20:27Speaker 3: Patriots have had all season long. Like that's a stat
- 20:29Speaker 3: like that is accurate facts. Yeah, So that to me
- 20:34Speaker 3: is something that I think it's a combination of things. One,
- 20:38Speaker 3: it's like the old scarnekiism of like seeing the game
- 20:40Speaker 3: through the same set of eyes and having five guys
- 20:43Speaker 3: playing on a string. Well, when guys get hurt and
- 20:45Speaker 3: guys are in and out of the lineup, then it's
- 20:47Speaker 3: harder to do that, right, It's harder to have five
- 20:50Speaker 3: guys on the same string. Like the last third down
- 20:53Speaker 3: of the game, which is probably the play that Buggy
- 20:54Speaker 3: the most the Patriots last third down of the game,
- 20:58Speaker 3: the runner, you know, the runner comes through the B
- 21:01Speaker 3: gap over Ben Brown and Vederian Low. Well, Ben Brown
- 21:05Speaker 3: and Vaderian Low haven't been playing and they haven't been
- 21:08Speaker 3: playing a lot together.
- 21:09Speaker 1: That's I meant to say this earlier. Sorry, we were
- 21:10Speaker 1: talking about you know, Ben Brown and Jared Wilson. How
- 21:12Speaker 1: maybe that's not that much of a gap, but like, yeah, understated.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I think honestly my biggest concern with the offensive line.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Sorry to cut off. I just want to make sure
- 21:20Speaker 1: that's like I said. I like Ben Brown is a
- 21:24Speaker 1: solid player. Yeah, And Vaderian Low I do think as
- 21:28Speaker 1: much as he struggled last year. We talked about sometimes
- 21:31Speaker 1: that the group can be better than the sum of
- 21:32Speaker 1: its parts. I think the reverse can be true too,
- 21:35Speaker 1: And if like the lines, if it's across the board
- 21:38Speaker 1: not good. It makes all the players look worse than
- 21:40Speaker 1: they actually are. They're in a better position out to
- 21:42Speaker 1: maybe help out Darien Low a little more. But the
- 21:44Speaker 1: point I was gonna make the chemistry might be the
- 21:47Speaker 1: bigger concern for me than the actual like schematic element though.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they've done a great job. Look I
- 21:53Speaker 3: say it all the time. You're gonna have some one
- 21:55Speaker 3: on one losses in pass protection in the NFL, Like
- 21:57Speaker 3: those pass rushers are freaking beasts and they get paid
- 22:00Speaker 3: two and when you lining up every single week against
- 22:03Speaker 3: good players, like you're gonna get beat. Sometimes you can
- 22:07Speaker 3: live with those ones. It's the ones where you're you're
- 22:09Speaker 3: doomed from the snap right where the guys are coming
- 22:12Speaker 3: free and you know there's blitzers off the edge or
- 22:14Speaker 3: there's blitzers up the middle that are just unblocked.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Like, those are the ones you can't have.
- 22:18Speaker 3: If you're gonna have like one on one losses, it's
- 22:21Speaker 3: gonna happen die slowly, right, so that like the quarterback
- 22:25Speaker 3: should be able to still have a chance on those plays,
- 22:28Speaker 3: is my point. You know, usually you don't see a
- 22:30Speaker 3: ton of pressure in like under two and a half
- 22:33Speaker 3: seconds where the quarterback has zero chance to get rid
- 22:35Speaker 3: of the football. In this game, you saw a lot
- 22:38Speaker 3: of that, and and that was concerning. Now, I want
- 22:41Speaker 3: to stick with the goods and then I want to
- 22:43Speaker 3: break down some of that a little bit more. But
- 22:45Speaker 3: sticking with the goods, you know, we had Drake may
- 22:48Speaker 3: still have some high level throws in this game that
- 22:50Speaker 3: stood out a new career high for Hunter Henry one
- 22:53Speaker 3: hundred and fifteen receiving yards. Yeah, I thought he was
- 22:55Speaker 3: excellent in this game. You know, he got wide open
- 22:58Speaker 3: on the touchdown, but twenty eight yard touchdown. I thought
- 23:01Speaker 3: the thing that really got the Patriots offense going after
- 23:05Speaker 3: the pick six. They went to a lot of you know,
- 23:07Speaker 3: heavy personnel. They actually ran one snap out of twenty
- 23:10Speaker 3: two with the full back west Over and Henry and
- 23:13Speaker 3: Hooper on the field altogether, and then they ran a
- 23:15Speaker 3: lot of empty you know, empty formations, you know, running
- 23:18Speaker 3: back in the backfield. And they inverted the formation so
- 23:22Speaker 3: the outside players were Westover and Henderson and then the
- 23:27Speaker 3: inside players were the receivers. And so that's an inqu
- 23:30Speaker 3: You call that an inverted formation because you think that
- 23:33Speaker 3: you know, traditionally you would think it would be the
- 23:35Speaker 3: opposite right, that those guys would be in the backfield
- 23:37Speaker 3: or inside the formation and the other guys would be outside.
- 23:40Speaker 3: So they inverted the formation and all they did was
- 23:43Speaker 3: consistently get Hunter Henry on these Bengals linebackers in coverage.
- 23:48Speaker 3: And these Bengals linebackers we've talked to the tracks all
- 23:51Speaker 3: last week. That was the thing he kept pointing out
- 23:53Speaker 3: about this Bengals defense is, you know, rookie linebackers, inexperienced
- 23:57Speaker 3: linebackers that have struggled this year. And whether it was
- 24:00Speaker 3: you know, Barrett Carter, whoever it was, you know, Hunter
- 24:03Speaker 3: Henry has beat those guys like a drum. Like he
- 24:05Speaker 3: was running inns, crossers, slants, you know, things like that
- 24:09Speaker 3: into the middle of the field against that linebacker coverage
- 24:12Speaker 3: and he just had a day living inside there. I
- 24:15Speaker 3: thought Hooper was big too. I thought he made a
- 24:17Speaker 3: couple of big catches in this game as well. But
- 24:19Speaker 3: a lot of what I felt like kind of settled
- 24:22Speaker 3: them down. They got into twenty one, they played right
- 24:25Speaker 3: under center, they started running the ball, they got the
- 24:28Speaker 3: tight ends involved like that was kind of what got
- 24:30Speaker 3: the offense into this game and settled down a bit
- 24:33Speaker 3: after this slow start.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I think there's something to be said for you know,
- 24:39Speaker 1: Hunter Henry's had a quieter season this year statistically. I
- 24:42Speaker 1: don't want to say he's had a down season because
- 24:43Speaker 1: he hasn't. He's still been good. The volume's just not
- 24:46Speaker 1: there because the last few years he's kind of been
- 24:49Speaker 1: the only guy. Yeah, and now there's other You start
- 24:52Speaker 1: of Steph on Diggs, art pop Thuglis start kseh on booty,
- 24:54Speaker 1: throw to mac Hollins, who, by the way, continues to
- 24:56Speaker 1: make plays. Yeah, but wouldn't you know it, things get
- 24:59Speaker 1: a little tough off. What has Drake may do? He
- 25:01Speaker 1: goes right back to the security blanket, right back to
- 25:03Speaker 1: the guy he trusts, and it speaks to Hunter Henry
- 25:06Speaker 1: like he hasn't had a game like that this year,
- 25:07Speaker 1: but stayed ready when the moment came up. I think
- 25:10Speaker 1: the veterans, Henry and I want to give Steph Diggs
- 25:12Speaker 1: credit to the veterans carried them. Diggs did not have
- 25:15Speaker 1: a very He kind of had the opposite of Henry.
- 25:17Speaker 1: He did not have a very statistically productive game. Yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 1: but he had a very impactful game to play. I
- 25:22Speaker 1: go back to him. Mike Rabel singled this out in
- 25:24Speaker 1: his postgame press conference. They get backed up into first
- 25:26Speaker 1: and twenty, like kind of back under their own goalpost,
- 25:29Speaker 1: and he hits Henry on like an eight yard in
- 25:34Speaker 1: and it was going to be like a nice game.
- 25:36Speaker 1: It was gonna set them up with a second and manageable.
- 25:38Speaker 1: But Steph Diggs sets this great block and creates an
- 25:41Speaker 1: angle for Hunter Henry to run for the first down
- 25:43Speaker 1: like that kind of play. Thirty one year old receiver
- 25:45Speaker 1: has been in all pros, done everything that is doing
- 25:46Speaker 1: this league, steps up and sets that kind of block.
- 25:49Speaker 1: That's part of the reason this team is where they
- 25:51Speaker 1: is because they have guys willing to do that. So
- 25:53Speaker 1: not gonna be a lot of talk about Steph Diggs
- 25:55Speaker 1: after a game like that. He had two catches and
- 25:56Speaker 1: they were big catches. He had one big third down
- 25:58Speaker 1: con version late in the game. But Steph Diggs deserves
- 26:01Speaker 1: credit for the way he played in this game. And
- 26:03Speaker 1: you know, when you have a rough game like that,
- 26:04Speaker 1: it's a young team, you're gonna want to lean on
- 26:07Speaker 1: the veterans, and that's what they did. Henry Diggs, mac
- 26:10Speaker 1: Hollins like those guys came up big and helped get
- 26:12Speaker 1: him cross the finish line.
- 26:13Speaker 3: On offense, we haven't really seen a ton of them,
- 26:17Speaker 3: you know, being behind Lee lately. I think that was
- 26:19Speaker 3: the first time they.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Were being on behind Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that was
- 26:22Speaker 1: the first time. They haven't been in that spot that much,
- 26:24Speaker 1: which is why I find it notable.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I feel like that was the first time that they
- 26:27Speaker 3: were I think that it was since the Pittsburgh game.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Well, they've trailed a lot because they keep giving up
- 26:31Speaker 1: these first drive touchdowns.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Right, but they haven't been down double digits.
- 26:34Speaker 1: They usually catch up pretty quickly.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Yeah, so I to see that.
- 26:38Speaker 3: You know, you get down ten to nothing on the road,
- 26:41Speaker 3: you throw a pick six, McDaniel's going back to under center,
- 26:45Speaker 3: full back in the backfield like that it's still that's
- 26:48Speaker 3: still it, right, Like that's still the let's level this.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Thing off for Josh McDaniels.
- 26:53Speaker 3: That that's still his his bag, Like that's still what
- 26:55Speaker 3: he's going to go to in those situations. And obviously
- 26:59Speaker 3: the tight ends are each part of that. The other
- 27:01Speaker 3: thing that I thought was, you know, really, uh good,
- 27:05Speaker 3: good sign. Good thing in this game from the offensive
- 27:07Speaker 3: perspective them We'll move over to the defense. They're gonna
- 27:10Speaker 3: need this now moving forward, obviously with the backups on
- 27:13Speaker 3: the left side, Morgan, Moses, Garrett Bradbury, Mike on wn Who.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I thought all three of these those guys are really
- 27:19Speaker 3: good in this game. I only had them allowing two
- 27:23Speaker 3: pressures combined among the three of them in the entire game.
- 27:28Speaker 3: On when who I thought was particularly good. I counted
- 27:30Speaker 3: eight plus blocks in the run game from those three guys.
- 27:34Speaker 3: They're the starters, right like, they're the guys that have
- 27:36Speaker 3: been the starters all year long. Their right side is
- 27:38Speaker 3: still intact, their center is still intact. So they're gonna
- 27:41Speaker 3: need those three guys to step up and play their
- 27:43Speaker 3: best football without Wilson and Campbell and and kind of
- 27:47Speaker 3: give them a steady side of the offensive line. You know,
- 27:50Speaker 3: if the left side gets you know, takes a little
- 27:52Speaker 3: bit of a step back. So I was encouraged. I
- 27:55Speaker 3: think on when Who was really starting to play a
- 27:56Speaker 3: lot better. Uh, he's kind of taken you know, He's
- 28:00Speaker 3: to turn it on here a little bit. I don't
- 28:02Speaker 3: know exactly why that is, but I thought he started
- 28:04Speaker 3: a little bit slow this season, and now that we're
- 28:07Speaker 3: getting into, you know, the later part of the season,
- 28:10Speaker 3: he's starting to really pick it up. He had an
- 28:12Speaker 3: awesome backside combination block on an outside zone run that
- 28:16Speaker 3: was a positive play where you know, he got two
- 28:19Speaker 3: guys and looked really good on the play. No pressure
- 28:22Speaker 3: is allowed in pass protection. So I think that he's
- 28:24Speaker 3: starting to pick it up a little bit. And you
- 28:26Speaker 3: can lean on that, and I think that one thing
- 28:28Speaker 3: that's interesting or you know, kind of confusing. I guess too,
- 28:33Speaker 3: like why don't they just run it behind Moses and
- 28:35Speaker 3: on Whney won the goal line? Like I don't really
- 28:37Speaker 3: understand it, like you have you have like seven hundred
- 28:41Speaker 3: and fifty pounds of beat right on that side of
- 28:43Speaker 3: the offensive line. I get like the in theory, like
- 28:46Speaker 3: maybe you want to run it, you know, up the
- 28:48Speaker 3: mill or to the left and then kind of cut
- 28:51Speaker 3: it back behind those guys instead of just going right
- 28:53Speaker 3: behind him. But when you have one yard to go,
- 28:56Speaker 3: like just turn the turn around, hand the ball off
- 28:58Speaker 3: and run it right down their throats behind two guys.
- 29:02Speaker 3: And I think on when who's probably, if we're being
- 29:05Speaker 3: you know, nice about it, three forty three fifty and
- 29:10Speaker 3: Moses is probably three thirty, right, you know, so we're
- 29:13Speaker 3: talking about two guys that are almost to combine seven
- 29:16Speaker 3: hundred pounds of beef on that side.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I get not wanting to be predictable, but when you
- 29:23Speaker 1: have eight shots at it, right, you have to do
- 29:25Speaker 1: it every time. But maybe mixing it. Yeah, absolutely all right.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Moving over to the defense on the goods, a couple
- 29:31Speaker 3: of goods on that side of the ball. Carlon Davis.
- 29:34Speaker 3: I thought this is probably his best game as a Patriot.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I think that's pretty clear.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean the DPI was a tough call,
- 29:40Speaker 3: and you know you'd have to mention it, but but.
- 29:42Speaker 1: You have to love it. And he said it after
- 29:43Speaker 1: the game. He responded like it made him bounce back,
- 29:47Speaker 1: which is the mentality you want.
- 29:48Speaker 3: I thought he had four really high level coverage plays
- 29:52Speaker 3: in this game. Obviously the three pass breakups on the
- 29:55Speaker 3: final drive for the Bengals, but then on the pick
- 29:58Speaker 3: six on Marcus Jones'.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Pick six, he has the coverage.
- 30:01Speaker 3: On T Higgins on that play, which is where Flacco
- 30:04Speaker 3: and Flacco starts looking down the field, he wants to
- 30:07Speaker 3: go to T Higgins down the field, and Carlton Davis
- 30:09Speaker 3: smothered the route and was all over T Higgins and
- 30:12Speaker 3: so he had to come off it and come to
- 30:13Speaker 3: the check down late, and so I thought that Carlton
- 30:16Speaker 3: Davis was a huge part of making that pick six happen. Like,
- 30:20Speaker 3: if Carlton Davis doesn't cover te Higgins there as tightly
- 30:23Speaker 3: as he did, then maybe Flacco's throwing the ball to
- 30:25Speaker 3: Higgins on that play instead of throwing the ball in
- 30:27Speaker 3: the flat. So really good game I thought from Carlton
- 30:31Speaker 3: Davis really stepped up in this game. I think I
- 30:34Speaker 3: still have no real I know, he's kind of been
- 30:37Speaker 3: a little bit of a lightning rod. They paid him
- 30:39Speaker 3: a lot of money in the offseason. I've thought that
- 30:42Speaker 3: he's been pretty steady for most of the season. He
- 30:45Speaker 3: gives up a play here or there, it's gonna happen.
- 30:48Speaker 3: But I don't think that. I don't really have any
- 30:50Speaker 3: major gripes and haven't had any major gripes with Carlon Davis.
- 30:52Speaker 1: And he's played.
- 30:53Speaker 2: He played really well in this game.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I mean, has he like I thought he'd
- 30:58Speaker 1: maybe be a little better than he's been. But that
- 31:00Speaker 1: doesn't mean he's been bad. He's given you really good
- 31:02Speaker 1: you know. I think he's given you a really good
- 31:04Speaker 1: number two corner play. Yeah, maybe it's not the one A,
- 31:07Speaker 1: one B we were looking for, but he's still been,
- 31:10Speaker 1: you know, a legitimate cover corner and yeah, been waiting
- 31:14Speaker 1: for him to have a game like that. Glad he
- 31:15Speaker 1: had it. Maybe that kind of launches the second half.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I go back to, and this is an extreme example.
- 31:20Speaker 1: You remember Steph Gilmore's first five games in New England. Yes, brutal, Yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 1: and they got hurt in at Tampa game and came
- 31:27Speaker 1: back and was the best corner in football for a
- 31:28Speaker 1: year and a half. So and not that I'm saying
- 31:30Speaker 1: Carlton Davis is going to have this like wow dissension,
- 31:32Speaker 1: but I yeah, I he hasn't been exactly what I
- 31:35Speaker 1: thought he was. Really he was really good in this game,
- 31:38Speaker 1: especially down the stretch. I think you summed it up perfectly.
- 31:40Speaker 3: If you had this expectation that they were going to
- 31:42Speaker 3: have this one A, one B, you know, two number
- 31:45Speaker 3: one corners kind of lineup with Carlton Davis, he probably
- 31:49Speaker 3: hasn't been that, but he's definitely been a solid number
- 31:52Speaker 3: two corner. You know, number two corners are not expected
- 31:54Speaker 3: to shut down their side of the field every single week.
- 31:56Speaker 3: That's what all pro corners like Christian Gonzalez are expected
- 32:00Speaker 3: to do so. I think that Carlton Davis has done
- 32:02Speaker 3: his job on the whole this season, and I don't
- 32:05Speaker 3: know why there's so much criticism towards him, honestly. Next
- 32:10Speaker 3: one up here on defense, both Klevon Chase On and
- 32:13Speaker 3: Christian Barmore were basically the Patriots disruption upfront. Like, those
- 32:18Speaker 3: two guys are the guys that were creating the most chaos.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Seven total pressures.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Barmore had a couple of run stuffs, Chason had the
- 32:25Speaker 3: pressure on the last play of the game on the
- 32:27Speaker 3: fourth down. You know he's locked a quarterback hit on
- 32:30Speaker 3: that play on the all out pressure. I thought those
- 32:33Speaker 3: two guys, you know, I was disappointed on the hole
- 32:36Speaker 3: with how the defensive line played in this game. But
- 32:39Speaker 3: those two guys continued to play well and stand out.
- 32:42Speaker 3: And Barmore was doing it with a ton of double
- 32:44Speaker 3: teams without Milton Williams as well. But if they were
- 32:48Speaker 3: basically the pass rush, those two players were basically it.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yeah, again, you could notice Milton Williams absence. I think
- 32:56Speaker 1: you notice in the game he didn't play just how
- 32:59Speaker 1: good he's been so.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Ye, But those who get to that after it last
- 33:02Speaker 3: thing here on the good side.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Uh, Kyle Williams kick returner.
- 33:06Speaker 1: I like it. Finally saw it.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I liked it.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I think that this is a this is a role
- 33:10Speaker 3: for him moving forward. He had the thirty six yard return.
- 33:14Speaker 3: That's the Patriot's longest return since uh Antonio Gibson's touchdown
- 33:17Speaker 3: in Week two in Miami.
- 33:19Speaker 2: So they it looked like he looked the part. You
- 33:23Speaker 2: can see the speed.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Obviously, the play hits a lot faster than what it
- 33:26Speaker 3: did with fin chishm back there. I understand when they
- 33:29Speaker 3: had the injuries to create uh to Kishon Boody, that
- 33:32Speaker 3: they needed him on offense more. But now that all
- 33:35Speaker 3: the receivers are healthy, uh, this is key should be
- 33:38Speaker 3: your primary kickoff returner moving forward. I actually think he's
- 33:41Speaker 3: gonna be a little bit dynamic.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Back there, and it keeps him involved and you get
- 33:46Speaker 1: something out of that unit. And yes, we've been talking
- 33:48Speaker 1: about this for weeks. I think I've been talking about
- 33:50Speaker 1: it since the training camp. Love that we got to
- 33:52Speaker 1: see it. Love that. I mean what I think doesn't
- 33:55Speaker 1: matter that hopefully the coaches liked it. I to me,
- 33:59Speaker 1: he should earn an other shot. I don't know. And
- 34:01Speaker 1: there's one more on the special teams the good How
- 34:03Speaker 1: about Andy? Yeah, Andy boorgallis four for four three kicks
- 34:07Speaker 1: over forty yards. That fifty one yard or at the
- 34:09Speaker 1: end of fifty one to fifty two? Was it at
- 34:10Speaker 1: the end of the game? Yeah, that was massive because
- 34:13Speaker 1: the way their defense was playing there, if the Bengals
- 34:15Speaker 1: it only needed to drive for a field goal or
- 34:17Speaker 1: if he misses it and the Bengals would have gotten
- 34:19Speaker 1: the ball right around the fifty right. I mean, that
- 34:21Speaker 1: was a massive kick. Kind of reminded me to the kick
- 34:23Speaker 1: at the end of the Miami game. Yeah, and he can.
- 34:25Speaker 1: He had that little bit of a bumpy start. He's
- 34:27Speaker 1: been excellent since week three. Very good. You're right.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Uh, he had math favorite kicking there. By the way,
- 34:34Speaker 3: what's up math favorite? The field goal? Interesting because the
- 34:38Speaker 3: other game, what was the Giants Lions game? The Giants
- 34:41Speaker 3: had an opportunity to kick up three to go up six,
- 34:45Speaker 3: and there was a lot of talk in my my
- 34:49Speaker 3: nerd world about whether or not they should have kicked
- 34:51Speaker 3: or if they should have gone for it on four
- 34:53Speaker 3: It down out of the Patriots. I don't I don't
- 34:54Speaker 3: remember exactly what the down and distance was for the Giants.
- 34:58Speaker 3: The Patriots were in a fourth and seven, so that
- 35:00Speaker 3: that's a far fourth down. If it was fourth and one,
- 35:03Speaker 3: I think the math probably would have said go. But
- 35:05Speaker 3: fourth and seven is not a clear go by any means.
- 35:09Speaker 3: And so it actually favored field goal in that spot.
- 35:12Speaker 3: And you've seen this twice now down in Miami and
- 35:15Speaker 3: then obviously in Cincinnati, where being up six in that
- 35:19Speaker 3: spot instead of only being up three is a big difference.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Like that's the difference between over time or you know,
- 35:26Speaker 3: a touchdown winning the football game either way. But it's
- 35:29Speaker 3: a big difference to be in that spot. So I
- 35:33Speaker 3: thought that was that was an interesting sort of thing there, And.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I want to add it too, just the element of it.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I don't think people realize this. So when you miss
- 35:44Speaker 1: a kick, the ball's not spotted at the yard line,
- 35:48Speaker 1: the ball was on the ball spotted where the kick
- 35:50Speaker 1: was missed. Yeah, so when you go back to that play,
- 35:53Speaker 1: that's a fifty two yard field goal. I gotta find
- 35:55Speaker 1: the exact yard lines.
- 35:56Speaker 3: I don't have to do that, he was like on
- 35:57Speaker 3: the logo, for sure, it was Yeah, maybe the forty
- 36:00Speaker 3: eight three thirty three plus seventeen is fifty right, thirty
- 36:05Speaker 3: three plus yes, so oh no, but seven so forty yeah, yeah,
- 36:09Speaker 3: so the Bengals would have gotten the ball on the
- 36:12Speaker 3: forty yard line. You saw the kick McPherson hit before
- 36:15Speaker 3: the aft. It was an absolute tank.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Sixty three yards. So yeah, they're what two first downs
- 36:20Speaker 1: away from tying that game, right if he misses that kick.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Whereas yeah, if you punt it, you might only net
- 36:25Speaker 1: seventeen yards or thirteen yards, but some people might say
- 36:28Speaker 1: with two minutes that thirteen yards is a big deal.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I'm not saying they should have punted. What I'm saying
- 36:32Speaker 1: is they clearly trust the kid. Yeah, Like, it's not
- 36:34Speaker 1: as simple as all right, we'll put you out there
- 36:35Speaker 1: to try and if you miss it, no harm nor
- 36:37Speaker 1: there is a massive risk if you miss that kick.
- 36:40Speaker 1: And same same situation in Miami. So they really do
- 36:43Speaker 1: trust him in that situation. Yeah, absolutely.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I just really quickly aside, because I'm not gonna mention
- 36:49Speaker 3: this with with the bads or the stuff that gets
- 36:52Speaker 3: you beast. I'll just mentioned it now. I actually didn't
- 36:54Speaker 3: watching it back. I didn't really mind what they did
- 36:56Speaker 3: at the end of the half. The kid made a
- 36:58Speaker 3: sixty three yard field goal. I thought that the Higgins.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I minded it. I didn't hate it.
- 37:04Speaker 3: So they went they went with a seven defensive back
- 37:08Speaker 3: package and they went into prevent.
- 37:10Speaker 1: They did.
- 37:11Speaker 3: They went with a three man defensive line seven DB's.
- 37:14Speaker 3: The Higgins deep in was Jalen Hawkins was standing right
- 37:21Speaker 3: in the window, and somehow Higgins won the ball, like
- 37:24Speaker 3: I don't know how, but Higgins won the ball. The
- 37:27Speaker 3: play was covered, and Higgins made a play. He's a
- 37:31Speaker 3: good player, is a really good player, and he made
- 37:33Speaker 3: a play on the football and Hawkins kind of got
- 37:36Speaker 3: you boxed out there at the catch point a little bit.
- 37:39Speaker 3: So I don't really hate what they called in any
- 37:42Speaker 3: of those spots, Like, okay, you give up the twenty
- 37:44Speaker 3: one yard run on first down. You're kind of conceding
- 37:47Speaker 3: that there was like seventeen seconds or eighteen seconds left
- 37:49Speaker 3: in the half, so they're going to run the ball.
- 37:51Speaker 2: You kind of let him run it there.
- 37:53Speaker 3: And then they give up a chunk play to Higgins
- 37:55Speaker 3: where I thought that they had the right coverage and
- 37:57Speaker 3: they had the right idea, and then the guy gives
- 37:59Speaker 3: up it kicks a sixty three yard It was a
- 38:01Speaker 3: franchise record, Like, you're not gonna You're not expecting the
- 38:04Speaker 3: kicker to make a sixty three yard field goal in
- 38:07Speaker 3: that spot. So if they had given two chunks and
- 38:10Speaker 3: now the Bengals are kicking the field goal and it's
- 38:12Speaker 3: a fifty yard field goal, okay, now I'd probably get
- 38:15Speaker 3: on the defense. But you tip your cap when the
- 38:18Speaker 3: kicker makes a sixty three yard field goal.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry, there's probably a better way to execute that,
- 38:23Speaker 1: but I didn't think it was some like agree and
- 38:25Speaker 1: they'd probably tell you they could have execute it better,
- 38:26Speaker 1: but I regis massive mistake.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Yeah, they could have executed the Higgins play better, no doubt. Right,
- 38:33Speaker 3: all right to the bats. So I mentioned this earlier.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Going back to the offense, the lack of answers versus
- 38:39Speaker 3: the Bengals blitz package was kind of shocking to me.
- 38:42Speaker 3: This is not typical of Josh McDaniels or Drake May
- 38:47Speaker 3: or this Patriots offense. So the numbers, Drake May was
- 38:50Speaker 3: four or twelve against the blitz with a sack, but
- 38:53Speaker 3: more specifically, he was zero for five against cover zero.
- 38:57Speaker 3: You know, zero completions against five zero blitzes, and really
- 39:01Speaker 3: none of them had a chance like he had zero
- 39:04Speaker 3: chance on any of the zeros like it was.
- 39:06Speaker 2: It was really just, you know, it was free run
- 39:10Speaker 2: at the quarterback.
- 39:12Speaker 3: The two plays in particular that I think stood out
- 39:15Speaker 3: to a lot, well three if you include the sack.
- 39:18Speaker 3: But I think the number one thing here first is
- 39:21Speaker 3: just a lot of this is on Drake May's plate.
- 39:26Speaker 3: And this was one smalleste concern I had about this
- 39:29Speaker 3: offense as a whole coming into the season was that
- 39:32Speaker 3: you have a second year quarterback that is setting protections
- 39:36Speaker 3: and supposed to read pre snap and you know, make
- 39:39Speaker 3: decisions of where the mic point is or where the
- 39:41Speaker 3: protection's going, and understanding where the blitz threats are and
- 39:45Speaker 3: the packages and studying their pressure package as much as
- 39:48Speaker 3: you're studying the It's a lot.
- 39:49Speaker 2: It's a lot to put on a twenty three year
- 39:51Speaker 2: old kids plate.
- 39:52Speaker 3: And I'm actually pretty surprised at how well they've done
- 39:54Speaker 3: it so far this season. And I'm pretty surprised that
- 39:57Speaker 3: it took this long for a defense to sort to
- 40:00Speaker 3: play some mind games with Drake May and get them
- 40:02Speaker 3: a couple of times, and these types of situations a
- 40:04Speaker 3: testament to McDaniels to May. But I also look at
- 40:07Speaker 3: this for other teams moving forward, especially Buffalo.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Is this the blueprint that we've heard so much about it? Right?
- 40:15Speaker 3: Is this is this going to start to be a
- 40:16Speaker 3: repeat you know, blueprint type of thing, because if the
- 40:21Speaker 3: Bengals were able to get some guys, you know, multiple
- 40:24Speaker 3: guys free to the quarterback. And I thought that a
- 40:26Speaker 3: lot of it was pre snap, a lot of it
- 40:29Speaker 3: was missing, you know, sliding protections and things like that.
- 40:33Speaker 3: So you know, the first one was on the very
- 40:35Speaker 3: first drive of the game and he puts reminder up
- 40:39Speaker 3: into the line of scrimmage over the overload side to
- 40:42Speaker 3: pick up the blitz, and then right before the snap,
- 40:44Speaker 3: the safety goes from over the right side to over
- 40:46Speaker 3: the left side, and then they overload the left side
- 40:49Speaker 3: instead of the right side, and the safety is just
- 40:51Speaker 3: unblocked over the left side. Then you know, later on
- 40:55Speaker 3: in the game they blitz the nickel and they have
- 40:58Speaker 3: a nickel blitz on that one. You know, they have
- 41:00Speaker 3: a cap defender, which means that behind the nickel behind
- 41:03Speaker 3: the slock corner, the safety is standing behind the slock corner,
- 41:07Speaker 3: which is what's called capped, which means that most likely
- 41:10Speaker 3: they're blitzing because the safety is going to replace the
- 41:13Speaker 3: nickel in coverage. So when the nickel blitz is the
- 41:16Speaker 3: slock corner blitz is, then the safety is going to
- 41:19Speaker 3: take Stefon Diggs and replace him in the coverage. So
- 41:22Speaker 3: for a quarterback, that's typically a tell that that's coming
- 41:25Speaker 3: from that side of the field when you see the
- 41:27Speaker 3: cap defender.
- 41:28Speaker 2: And Drake made that.
- 41:29Speaker 3: They didn't slide the protection that way, and I believe
- 41:32Speaker 3: it was Brown. At this point, Ben Brown is blocking nobody.
- 41:37Speaker 3: So you have you have Ben Brown and Will Campbell
- 41:40Speaker 3: blocking the same guy on the left side of the line,
- 41:44Speaker 3: and nobody's blocking the blitz. So that's to me, is
- 41:47Speaker 3: just strategic, right, It's just moving guys around. It's the
- 41:50Speaker 3: chest match before the ball is snap. And then of
- 41:53Speaker 3: course the last third down of the game, you know
- 41:55Speaker 3: they let somebody through the b gap unblocked and it's
- 41:58Speaker 3: another pressure. So there was a lot of that going
- 42:00Speaker 3: on in this game. The Bengals kind of took apart
- 42:02Speaker 3: their protections a little bit in a way that I
- 42:04Speaker 3: haven't seen happened to the Patriots yet this season. So
- 42:09Speaker 3: this is something that they definitely need to button up
- 42:11Speaker 3: and get fixed because teams are going to keep doing
- 42:13Speaker 3: it until they prove that they can block it.
- 42:15Speaker 1: And the issue just compounds that they're going to have
- 42:17Speaker 1: to do it with a new group up front, right,
- 42:20Speaker 1: and that's going to make it that the communication that
- 42:22Speaker 1: side that much tougher. Yep. Absolutely.
- 42:24Speaker 3: The other thing that was a little bit disappointing in
- 42:27Speaker 3: this game to me was the interior run defense, and
- 42:33Speaker 3: as a whole, just the pass rush and the disruption.
- 42:37Speaker 3: I think the number one word I would use is disruption.
- 42:39Speaker 3: They just weren't making a ton of plays on the
- 42:41Speaker 3: other side of the line of scrimmage in this game,
- 42:43Speaker 3: or at the line of scrimmage for that matter. So
- 42:46Speaker 3: the Bengals only got stuffed twice on runs in this game.
- 42:49Speaker 3: They had twelve successful runs to two stuffed runs the
- 42:53Speaker 3: entire game. I also charted the pressure rate before the
- 42:58Speaker 3: final drive and half or the final drive, So before
- 43:02Speaker 3: the Bengals final drives. In their first nine possessions of
- 43:04Speaker 3: this game, the Patriots only had Joe Flacco under pressure
- 43:08Speaker 3: on fourteen point eight percent of his dropbacks. Now that
- 43:11Speaker 3: skyrocketed on the last drive. It was fifty percent on
- 43:14Speaker 3: the Bengals, you know, game winning drive attempt. So that's
- 43:17Speaker 3: gonna push those numbers up for the entire game. But
- 43:21Speaker 3: to me, it's kind of fugazi. It's a little bit
- 43:23Speaker 3: inflated because it really came at the end of the
- 43:27Speaker 3: game where they're sending all out pressure and they're they're
- 43:29Speaker 3: heating Flacco up at that point. So the big stats
- 43:32Speaker 3: that stood out to me fourteen point eight pressure eight
- 43:37Speaker 3: if you take out the last drive of the game
- 43:39Speaker 3: for Cincinnati. They also allowed three yards per rush before
- 43:45Speaker 3: contact in this game. That was the second highest mark
- 43:49Speaker 3: in the NFL in Week twelve. The only team that
- 43:51Speaker 3: had it worse than the Patriots run defense. You want
- 43:54Speaker 3: to take a guess last week, This is an easy
- 43:56Speaker 3: one if you think about it again, the only team
- 43:59Speaker 3: that gave up more rushing yards before contact than the
- 44:03Speaker 3: Patriots this week in Week twelve was the New York
- 44:07Speaker 3: Giants right against Detroit. Okay, so the Giants right now
- 44:11Speaker 3: are historically bad run defense. That's not company you want
- 44:14Speaker 3: to be in because with the Giants.
- 44:15Speaker 1: You've seen that chart. You know, I don't like the charts.
- 44:17Speaker 1: There's one chart where they had to explain the chart
- 44:19Speaker 1: to fit the Giants.
- 44:20Speaker 3: And so you don't want to be part of that
- 44:22Speaker 3: chart with the Giants. So I just thought that they
- 44:27Speaker 3: were a little soft up the middle in this game. Defensively.
- 44:29Speaker 3: I didn't like seeing that. You know, they're gonna need
- 44:31Speaker 3: more from Dirden, from Gregory, from Farms. You know, maybe
- 44:35Speaker 3: Farmers active this week after being inactive in Cincinnati. They're
- 44:40Speaker 3: just gonna need more from that group. You know, Barmore
- 44:42Speaker 3: can't do it all by himself, and and Tongo will
- 44:44Speaker 3: hopefully come back healthy and he'll be available. But I
- 44:47Speaker 3: thought that that was something that really stood out in
- 44:49Speaker 3: this game. Just the lack of Milton Williams was so
- 44:52Speaker 3: obvious in this game, you know, the disruption.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Let's start Tonga in there too, because he didn't play
- 44:59Speaker 1: a lot. And and again we talked about last week,
- 45:02Speaker 1: like they have the depth to fill in for Milton Williams,
- 45:04Speaker 1: and part of that was Tonga. Then you lose him too,
- 45:06Speaker 1: is very apparent they didn't have those guys.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, last thing here, and then we'll go on
- 45:12Speaker 3: to the stuff that gets you beat. I just don't
- 45:14Speaker 3: like seeing Christian Gonzalez get beat by Mitchell Tinsley.
- 45:17Speaker 1: No, I don't look credit to Tinsley was a great release.
- 45:19Speaker 1: I don't know how much Gonzal studied him during the week,
- 45:21Speaker 1: but yeah, you don't want to see that.
- 45:23Speaker 3: I mean, it's just it's not like something that I'm
- 45:24Speaker 3: going to kill him for. It's the first touchdown he's
- 45:26Speaker 3: given up all year, by the way, in coverage and
- 45:29Speaker 3: Mitchell Tinsley like some of the guys he's faced this year,
- 45:32Speaker 3: Drake London, you know t Higgins in this game for
- 45:35Speaker 3: most of it and you get beat by Tinsley. That
- 45:37Speaker 3: that was tough to watch. You don't like to see
- 45:39Speaker 3: that from your number one corner. Now to the stuff
- 45:42Speaker 3: that gets you beat. Let's talk about the pick six.
- 45:45Speaker 3: So I think that what's being under discussed with the
- 45:48Speaker 3: pick six was that this was like a trick formation
- 45:52Speaker 3: that they ran. It was kind of a trick play
- 45:54Speaker 3: that they ran in this game. On the pick six,
- 45:57Speaker 3: they only had four offensive linemen blocking for me, right,
- 46:00Speaker 3: they like faked a screen.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:02Speaker 3: So they had Ben Brown, who was in the game
- 46:04Speaker 3: at this point. This was an eligible situation. He was
- 46:07Speaker 3: at left guard. He was the left guard they had,
- 46:09Speaker 3: you know the best way to say this, Hunter Henry
- 46:11Speaker 3: was playing left tackle on this play.
- 46:14Speaker 1: They did the the who man yeah, you know, eligible
- 46:17Speaker 1: moved the formation.
- 46:18Speaker 3: So Hunter Henry's playing left tackle. Ben Brown is out
- 46:21Speaker 3: on the perimeter with Trayvon Henderson offering a screen. I
- 46:24Speaker 3: don't know if he if the screen, if this was
- 46:27Speaker 3: just a decoy thing and they always wanted to throw
- 46:30Speaker 3: the seam to Henry, or if they were going to
- 46:33Speaker 3: throw the screen and May saw the that Henry flashed
- 46:37Speaker 3: up the seam and he just tried to take it.
- 46:39Speaker 3: I don't know, you know, I couldn't tell you, you know,
- 46:41Speaker 3: I'd have to ask. I don't know which one it was,
- 46:43Speaker 3: but it was a tricky formation that my guess is
- 46:47Speaker 3: that we won't see for a while because of how
- 46:49Speaker 3: it was. And it's open. It's there. You know, he's
- 46:53Speaker 3: gonna have to layer it in there, but it's in there.
- 46:55Speaker 3: And he just airmailed it, you know, he does air
- 46:57Speaker 3: mailed it. Sailed it and if you sail it over
- 46:59Speaker 3: the middle and this league, it's going back the other
- 47:01Speaker 3: way nine times out of ten.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Right, So it's a combination of factors, you know.
- 47:06Speaker 3: I think that, you know, the simplest way to put
- 47:08Speaker 3: it is he just he sailed the ball.
- 47:10Speaker 2: He airmeld the throw.
- 47:12Speaker 3: But I would also say that there was a little
- 47:15Speaker 3: bit of trickery on the play that kind of was
- 47:18Speaker 3: a unique formation, And I just don't know if they
- 47:21Speaker 3: needed that in this game, Like maybe if they had
- 47:24Speaker 3: practiced it more and they pulled it out in a
- 47:25Speaker 3: playoff game like it. You know, I always go back
- 47:27Speaker 3: to the twenty fourteen Ravens, you know, playoff game when
- 47:30Speaker 3: they were down by two scores and they needed to
- 47:32Speaker 3: pull something out of their butts.
- 47:33Speaker 2: That was not this spot. So he throws the pick six.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Bad throw.
- 47:37Speaker 3: Probably not the best formation or play to call in
- 47:40Speaker 3: that spot, especially backed up there like they were.
- 47:43Speaker 1: And that was it.
- 47:44Speaker 3: I mean, I don't really have anything else to add
- 47:46Speaker 3: I don't know if you have anything else to add about.
- 47:47Speaker 2: It just wasn't a good throw.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Maybe they were trying to set up they wanted to
- 47:51Speaker 1: throw the seams so they could come back and throw
- 47:52Speaker 1: that screen.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Yeah later down the road. Who knows, sure can but
- 47:56Speaker 3: can't be throwing pick sixes. It's his first pick six
- 47:58Speaker 3: of his career. By the way, I should put that
- 48:00Speaker 3: out there so you know it doesn't happen all the
- 48:03Speaker 3: time to Drake May.
- 48:04Speaker 2: It's not like a problem a repeat.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Problem, all right, the last thing here.
- 48:08Speaker 3: And then we're before we take the break, we got
- 48:12Speaker 3: we gotta break down whatever the heck happened on the
- 48:13Speaker 3: goal line, Like, yes, so this was this was just
- 48:19Speaker 3: it was kind of crazy to watch it back because
- 48:22Speaker 3: of how many opportunities they had to score and they
- 48:25Speaker 3: still couldn't score. Like they had at least four or
- 48:29Speaker 3: five plays in the first sequence, but that should have
- 48:31Speaker 3: been touchdowns. So I don't necessarily panic about it because
- 48:35Speaker 3: I think this was all execution.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I really do. I don't think this was anything the
- 48:38Speaker 2: Bengals did.
- 48:40Speaker 3: I counted at least four plays that were there for
- 48:43Speaker 3: touchdowns that for some reason did not end up in
- 48:46Speaker 3: touchdowns in this game. On the goal line, so you
- 48:50Speaker 3: had the four yard little swing pass to Travon Henderson.
- 48:54Speaker 3: I can't remember if it was first or second down,
- 48:56Speaker 3: but I said this yesterday. I would like to see
- 48:58Speaker 3: Travon Henderson Marstown make the guy miss there and get
- 49:01Speaker 3: into the end zone like you're one on one in
- 49:03Speaker 3: space with a linebacker, your scap back, your speedback, like
- 49:07Speaker 3: make a cut and get upfield and get in the
- 49:08Speaker 3: end zone. Right, you have space out there, make a
- 49:10Speaker 3: play like maybe Drake may could have put the ball
- 49:12Speaker 3: on him a little bit faster to help him, but
- 49:15Speaker 3: I still think he had time to kind of like
- 49:17Speaker 3: break down, you know, size the guy up and make
- 49:20Speaker 3: a little shimmy and get into the end zone. You'd
- 49:22Speaker 3: like to see your you know, explosive rookie running back
- 49:26Speaker 3: score on that little swing pass. Then the next one,
- 49:30Speaker 3: Drake May is coming out from underneath center. They run
- 49:33Speaker 3: a little play action play. Hunter Henry's open on the
- 49:36Speaker 3: corner route. They bite, they got it, and Drake May
- 49:40Speaker 3: gets tripped, gets stepped on whatever you want to call it,
- 49:42Speaker 3: coming from underneath center, stumbles out and he can't get
- 49:45Speaker 3: the ball out on time. So then that play gets
- 49:47Speaker 3: wiped out. Then you get the Hunter Henry touchdown that
- 49:51Speaker 3: got nullified by the offensive pass interference. So now I'm
- 49:54Speaker 3: at three of plays that I think they could have
- 49:56Speaker 3: scored on, and then you get to the fourth down
- 49:59Speaker 3: play where I think Drake May had an r PO
- 50:01Speaker 3: and probably made the wrong read on the r PO
- 50:04Speaker 3: and it probably should have been a touchdown to Hunter
- 50:06Speaker 3: Henry in the flat. So they ran I think it
- 50:09Speaker 3: was what eight plays from inside the five yard line.
- 50:13Speaker 3: I think they ran, yeah, six or seven fix from
- 50:15Speaker 3: one six from the one, and I just rattled off
- 50:18Speaker 3: four different plays that were there for touchdowns that they
- 50:20Speaker 3: didn't score on. Right, So to me, that's an execution problem, right, Like,
- 50:24Speaker 3: that's not a tip the cap to the Bengals.
- 50:27Speaker 2: They got one on you.
- 50:28Speaker 1: I mean it's a little bit of both. But yeah, no,
- 50:31Speaker 1: you get eight tries and they kept getting back down,
- 50:34Speaker 1: Like they get the OPI, they get pushed out to
- 50:36Speaker 1: the eleven. Next play, boom, they're back down on the one.
- 50:38Speaker 1: That nice little shovel pass Hunter Henry. So yeah, you
- 50:43Speaker 1: got you just got to score there. You got to
- 50:44Speaker 1: score and they got to figure something out with the
- 50:46Speaker 1: quarterback sneak because they've been a good quarterback sneak tam. Yeah.
- 50:48Speaker 3: So then the second one, you know, the second thing
- 50:52Speaker 3: they get pushed back, you know, they get Hunter Henry
- 50:55Speaker 3: and then.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Oh no, that was the first drive that they got.
- 50:58Speaker 1: The second one was just three and then they came.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Yeah, so I think they only got down inside the
- 51:02Speaker 3: one or inside the five on second down. I think
- 51:05Speaker 3: they got down there on first down, and then they
- 51:07Speaker 3: had second and third down from the one, right, and
- 51:10Speaker 3: they got stuffed on second down. They actually gained a
- 51:12Speaker 3: few yards on second down, but Henderson literally got it
- 51:15Speaker 3: to like the they kept getting tackled at the one
- 51:18Speaker 3: yard Yeah, they literally got tackled at like the half
- 51:20Speaker 3: yard line. I don't even think it was just the
- 51:22Speaker 3: one and then they obviously have the sneak and then
- 51:24Speaker 3: were able to elected the kick on fourth down, so
- 51:27Speaker 3: you know, not not good.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Well, it's the right decision to kick there though.
- 51:31Speaker 2: I think so too, even though the math would.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Have gone, well, does the math factoring you just got
- 51:36Speaker 1: stopped eight times earlier in the game, and you might
- 51:39Speaker 1: And this is this is why it feeling.
- 51:41Speaker 3: This is why Rabel and Stretcher are such a good combination,
- 51:44Speaker 3: because Rabel's got enough of the feel and stretches the MAK.
- 51:47Speaker 1: So this is why you got why it works. Because
- 51:50Speaker 1: this is my whole thing about Dan Campbell's going. I
- 51:52Speaker 1: don't want to I don't want to do the rail
- 51:54Speaker 1: against the analytics thing. But this is where to your point,
- 51:56Speaker 1: I think this is why they've had success because they
- 51:58Speaker 1: manage it. They don't let it either be all end
- 52:00Speaker 1: all and it's hey, yeah, the math says go, but
- 52:03Speaker 1: look at what happened earlier in the game. We need
- 52:05Speaker 1: to leave with points here. Yeah they did that.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Yep, absolutely, I was perfectly fine with that.
- 52:10Speaker 2: But it just wasn't going well down there, right.
- 52:12Speaker 3: As Rabel said on Monday, you're gonna you're not gonna
- 52:16Speaker 3: win a lot of games if you can't score from
- 52:17Speaker 3: inside the five yard right. And I think the bigger
- 52:20Speaker 3: thing you know to me is you know along those lines,
- 52:23Speaker 3: I'm sorry, but I'm gonna run it in from the
- 52:25Speaker 3: one kind of guy. If you can't get a yard
- 52:29Speaker 3: in this league on the goal line to run it
- 52:32Speaker 3: in on three or four tries like, then you have problems.
- 52:35Speaker 2: You have problems up front.
- 52:36Speaker 1: And you.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Said because I think a lot of people sorry to
- 52:39Speaker 3: cut off, but I think a lot of people want
- 52:41Speaker 3: the creativity, right.
- 52:42Speaker 2: They want maybe you know, they want bootleg.
- 52:44Speaker 3: May or they want a motion, or they want to
- 52:47Speaker 3: bubble or like something creative right in that spot that
- 52:51Speaker 3: goes beyond just we're gonna line up in the eye
- 52:53Speaker 3: and we're gonna run it down your throats. To me,
- 52:55Speaker 3: the best teams can line up in the eye and
- 52:57Speaker 3: run it down your throats when you need all the
- 52:59Speaker 3: bells and whistles to get it in down there. I
- 53:01Speaker 3: don't think you're all that great.
- 53:03Speaker 1: This is where they missed having to fall back. I'll
- 53:05Speaker 1: just add to that. I don't love the shotgun run
- 53:07Speaker 1: on the goal line unless it's that direct snap play
- 53:10Speaker 1: they've run, yeah, in playoff games to Kevin Falk and
- 53:12Speaker 1: James White over the years. A little surprised they didn't
- 53:14Speaker 1: go to that. Like there's two McDaniel staples down there,
- 53:17Speaker 1: if you want to get creative, like you said, the
- 53:19Speaker 1: bells and whistles, there's the direct snap for the running back,
- 53:21Speaker 1: which they didn't do right. And then are you surprised
- 53:24Speaker 1: they didn't go back to the return route at any
- 53:27Speaker 1: point after Booty got held a little bit. I mean
- 53:30Speaker 1: maybe because he loves that play down there, but it also.
- 53:32Speaker 3: Like it wasn't even really that open, uh, you know,
- 53:34Speaker 3: because he got a help. I know, but I don't
- 53:36Speaker 3: love that on fourth down. I didn't love that call.
- 53:38Speaker 3: That was the one call I didn't really like because
- 53:41Speaker 3: it's the reason why I don't really like it on
- 53:43Speaker 3: fourth down is because it's a one read throw.
- 53:45Speaker 2: So like, if that's not going back.
- 53:47Speaker 1: To any point, I mean, they had four more plays after.
- 53:49Speaker 3: That, Yeah, they could have, you know that. I I
- 53:51Speaker 3: just want to you got to be able to block
- 53:54Speaker 3: a yard. And Rabel's whole big thing is, you know,
- 53:58Speaker 3: finish with your guy in the end zone like that.
- 54:00Speaker 3: That's his like rallying cry. That's his like coaching parlance,
- 54:04Speaker 3: and like that to me is the bit is the
- 54:06Speaker 3: end all be all we can talk about, you know,
- 54:08Speaker 3: all these bells and whistles, all these creative emotions or
- 54:12Speaker 3: return routes or boot legs or whatever. When you need
- 54:16Speaker 3: a yard, can you get a yard?
- 54:17Speaker 4: Right?
- 54:18Speaker 3: And they're they're run blocking right now has not been
- 54:20Speaker 3: good enough in short yardage.
- 54:21Speaker 2: They need to improve there.
- 54:23Speaker 3: And I'd also put a little bit on the running
- 54:25Speaker 3: backs like Ramondra Stevenson, you're two hundred and twenty seven pounds,
- 54:29Speaker 3: like lower your shoulder and get into the end zone,
- 54:31Speaker 3: you know, like run through the guy's face and get
- 54:33Speaker 3: into the end zone. And I think, you know, it
- 54:35Speaker 3: is frustrating to me a little bit to watch, you know,
- 54:38Speaker 3: these running backs get like stood up on the half
- 54:40Speaker 3: yard line, like you know, have a little push right,
- 54:43Speaker 3: get your shoulder pads down.
- 54:45Speaker 2: And get in the end zone.
- 54:47Speaker 3: So as much as that you can harp on the blocking,
- 54:49Speaker 3: and the blocking is a big part of it. I
- 54:51Speaker 3: think that's a part of it too. Now they didn't
- 54:53Speaker 3: tongue it down there. I think that's that's a big miss. Yeah,
- 54:57Speaker 3: that that's a big element of it as well. All right,
- 54:59Speaker 3: So that's good to batten and stuff that gets you beat.

- 58:05Speaker 3: really quickly before we get into the nitty gritty again,
- 58:07Speaker 3: because I feel like that was a very dense Yes,
- 58:10Speaker 3: it was a very hour and I need to loosen
- 58:13Speaker 3: it up a little bit.
- 58:14Speaker 2: So what the heck is this hard count thing?
- 58:16Speaker 1: So this is like, can you tell me this is
- 58:18Speaker 1: like a new trend online. I didn't think you're gonna
- 58:20Speaker 1: want to do this.
- 58:21Speaker 2: I do because I just want to make fun of it.
- 58:23Speaker 1: So there's like these this goofy thing online where where
- 58:27Speaker 1: guys are out and there hanging out and you just
- 58:29Speaker 1: you're out with the poise hit the hard count. And
- 58:31Speaker 1: there's like videos on YouTube of people trying to get
- 58:33Speaker 1: other people to jump or like there's this one account
- 58:35Speaker 1: where they line up in front of like an ananimate object.
- 58:37Speaker 1: There's one of a guy trying to get like a
- 58:39Speaker 1: pickup truck to jump off sides or a Walmart. And
- 58:42Speaker 1: so it came up because we were talking about the
- 58:44Speaker 1: giants and I don't know if you saw Cam Scattapo
- 58:47Speaker 1: the other night trying to get his chat to jump
- 58:50Speaker 1: off sidees like the chat that was watching his lives.
- 58:52Speaker 1: Cam Scattaboy's gotta worry about it, and he started he
- 58:54Speaker 1: started hitting the hard count. I've texted you about the
- 58:56Speaker 1: hard count. I think you jumped. I texted you a
- 58:58Speaker 1: hard count and you say you didn't jump, but I
- 59:00Speaker 1: think you jumped. I think I think the real reason
- 59:04Speaker 1: you hate this is because you don't have a good
- 59:05Speaker 1: hard count. And you know, the real reason why I
- 59:09Speaker 1: hate this is because you people are so corny because
- 59:12Speaker 1: it's fun.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Just relax, like, my goodness, let's her hard count. No,
- 59:15Speaker 3: I'm not hard counting. There's no no, I'm not doing it.
- 59:19Speaker 3: And this is just like this all bothers me. Like
- 59:22Speaker 3: everything you just said bothered me, Like the hard count thing,
- 59:26Speaker 3: like what are we twelve years old?
- 59:28Speaker 2: It's like doing like in middle.
- 59:29Speaker 3: School, okay, and we're not at football practice. You don't
- 59:32Speaker 3: play football.
- 59:33Speaker 1: I know.
- 59:33Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I know you all want to be in
- 59:35Speaker 2: the NFL.
- 59:36Speaker 1: You're not.
- 59:37Speaker 3: Okay, I'm not You're not. No one is in this situation.
- 59:41Speaker 3: The hard count is lame. Please stop doing it. Also,
- 59:44Speaker 3: the second thing I would say about this is just
- 59:47Speaker 3: like I just can't believe, like you know, the whole culture,
- 59:51Speaker 3: like you just when you're out with the boys and
- 59:54Speaker 3: you know you just got a hard count, like.
- 59:56Speaker 1: What like a pillow truck to jump off side? Come on,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: it doesn't really work without this. It's horrible.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: That's Horrible's your hard count?
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: No? Absolutely, not.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: All right, that's as much fun as I'm allowed to have.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: That was that was two minutes of fun. It was
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: I just don't lot of fun. Yeah, I enjoy those videos.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: I think my side on this right like this is,
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: this is lame, like this.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: Is I'm sweets man. I don't take sides like this.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I just you. You couldn't get anybody to jump off
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: sides give a week hard count. I think that's the problem.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: And that's like I'm supposed to be like humiliated by that,
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: like you clearly are.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Because you won't embrace this this fun thing that people do.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: It's not because it's it's not fun. I don't understand
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: how what's fun about it? Like this is unbelievable in
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: a hard count? All right, let's get to the phones.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: These guys have been waiting on hold for a while.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Or are you afraid you would jump?
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: Is that?
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Or you're not disciplined? What you're gonna get? You're afraid
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: you jump off sides?
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: No, I'm not afraid. Do you do you think I
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: would jump off sides?
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: I listen, I never jumped off sides, never once in
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: my life because I was too slow to jump off side,
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: So that's what it wouldn't matter. Nate is in Connecticut.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: What's up, Nate?
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: Hey, guys, can you get through?
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Well, yeah, we got you all right.
- 1:01:09Speaker 9: I got a couple of.
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: Thoughts for you guys. First off, you know, the connection
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: between May and Campbell, their chemistry this season on and
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: off the field has been like unmatched to probably any
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: quarterback left tackle duo in the league. Then to have
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: Campbell gone, first, I guess it's not season endings. That's good,
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: So he'll probably be gone for some weeks, but it's
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: definitely gonna be definitely going to take a toll on May.
- 1:01:35Speaker 9: So it could be hard to.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: Get some stuff going in the offense. So I think
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: could be a good idea to bring back Marcus Jones
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: on the offense. You know, when he was on the offense,
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: he was able to get some stuff going and I
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: really like that. And you know, if the Darian Lowe
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: and Ben Brown are going to be on the line,
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: might be a little hard to get some stuff going
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: that they were able to get going earlier in the season.
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: And yeah, uh, And then second off, you know, Evan,
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: we all we all want to hear it. Give us
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: your hard count.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Nope, thanks Nate. The people want it.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: But Nate, Nate, I can understand these these grown men
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: that are doing this in like the middle. He's I know,
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: he's not.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Somebody's got to call in in hard count.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Wasn't a knock on, Nate.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I yeah, they're gonna see it coming. Now, you're gonna
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: see it coming, but we need somebody call it in
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: hardcount to see if you jump. I don't think Marcus
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Jones on offense helps a lot of what's wrong right now.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: I could see what he's saying, like if you get
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: him in the screen game and things like that, you know,
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: with a bad offensive.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm not saying it hurt. But I don't.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: I think he's got a lot on his place.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: He's right, he's very important them defensively and in the
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: punt return game on special teams. You should be able
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: to whatever you were gonna do with Marcus Jones, you
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: should be able to do with Pop Douglas.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: So I I hear Nate though, and I said it
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: earlier in the show.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: I think the big thing about this.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Moving forward, I think what you're going to see a
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: lot of is those max protect play actions. You know,
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: let's get under center, Let's run the football, let's play.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Action off the run.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I don't I don't think that Vederian Lowe Darien low
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: is probably a downgrade in both pass pro and run
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: block and compared to Will Campbell, Ben Brown might be
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: a little bit of a better run blocker than Jared Wilson,
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: just because he's a little nastier. Like Jared Wilson's a
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: very athletic, very graceful player. Ben Brown I think might
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: have a little bit more power, a little bit more SNAr,
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: a little bit more size for sure, just from a
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: measurable standpoint. So I think you get under center, you
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: run the football, and then when you play action, you
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: know you can leave seven guys in. You know you
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: can leave you know a go six to zero line,
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: which I think they might do in this game against
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: the Giants to help out against you know, Burns and
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: Carter on the edge.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: You know, you go six o line.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: Now you put two olignement on one on one of
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: those guys, you know, things like that, and then that's
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: how you're going to try to push the ball down
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: the field. Once you get into the drop back game
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: and you get into shotgun, you do have the advantage
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: obviously of me being able to move around, which is
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: which is helpful. But when you talk about like their
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: base early down offense, I think you're going to see
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: a lot of two three man route concepts with hard
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: play action underneath center. Maybe move the pocket a little
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: bit more than they have been lately, and I think
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: that's how they're going to try to piece this whole
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: thing together.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Ben is in Philly.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: What's up, Ben?
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Hello? Hey, what's up?
- 1:04:39Speaker 9: Ben?
- 1:04:41Speaker 10: Hey? Just kind of a question for you guys, kind
- 1:04:44Speaker 10: of leaning towards special teams after that gaming Miami SCE
- 1:04:48Speaker 10: and you know, Antario Gibson and understand go off. I
- 1:04:54Speaker 10: don't know, I feeling a little bit disappointed. That might
- 1:04:56Speaker 10: not be the right word, just with a hund return unit.
- 1:05:01Speaker 10: Just wondering what you guys are kind of seeing, you know,
- 1:05:04Speaker 10: is that we're not getting enough defenders on their gunners
- 1:05:07Speaker 10: on the outside or they're just really popping them up
- 1:05:10Speaker 10: so Jones can't get a speak going. And I'll take
- 1:05:14Speaker 10: that off there.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good question.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: I mean they haven't They had the big game against
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: Carolina early in the year at the two punt returns
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: and I don't know if it's been as dynamic now.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Marcus Jones is one of the best punt returners in
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: football and everybody knows it.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: He's fifth in yards per return.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's probably an element of it as well.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: But I, like I said earlier in the show, and
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I think you're in agreement, I'm looking forward to seeing
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: Kyle Williams return more more kickoffs. I think that's gonna
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: ye remake that play dynamic like it was when they
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: had Gibson and Henderson back there to start the year.
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: I think that that could go a long way of
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: trying to get some hidden yards on special teams. Also,
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: big time knock on wood. When I say this, there's
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: like a it's an epidemic, right, That's what it's called,
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: when it's like a big thing that's happening. Widespread epidemic, epidemic, epidemic, epidemic,
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: Like I'm just saying the right word, like, yeah, like pandemic.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: Yeah right, Yeah, there's one of those going on with
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: block kicks in the NFL this year, and knock done
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: with the Patriots have not had a blocked kick punt
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: or fields talked about.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I think it's something they're very, very aware. Well, it's like,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: I think it's happening every week, So every week. There's
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: at least part of the reason it's happening. The kickers
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: are so much better. Teams are kicking longer and longer
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: field goals. When you kick a long field goal, their
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: trajectory is lower, so it's easier to block. So the
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: rise in block kicks in part. It's not all of it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: There's been some shorter kicks a block too, Yeah, but
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: part of it has been teams are attempting longer kicks,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: which are easier to block. That's epidemic epidemic. So an
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: epidemic is it's technically different than a pandemic, but they
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: mean similar things.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Okay, all right, close enough, get into some of these emails.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: This one, how you like this and this one from Justin.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: An epidemic is when a disease spreads in a specific area.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: A pandemic is across multiple Okay.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Well, this is very specific to a lot of field
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: goals getting blocked.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Well, no, I think it might be because an epidemic
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: goal is only a couple teams of panstrick point, it's
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: the whole league.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's been like crazy this year.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Subject line to this email outs Evan's alerted to fun
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: which is something that you have said about me for
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: probably our entire friendship. Evan must have called the fun
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: police the way he's beating up on the hard count trend.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Come on and cut loose and have some fun. Saying
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: that I called the fun police is also, you know,
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: very corny.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: But here, Actually, if you got in here and you
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: got like Paul and Fred to try do the hard.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: Count, I feel like that's something Fred would do, because
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: Fred's all for the bid to do it.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. Hard count. Well, this is like
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: the first I'm hearing of the hard count. What is
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: the hard count? It's when the quarterback goes the line
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: and gives a bunch of dummy signals try to get
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: the other team to jump off sides.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers is probably the best hard Aaron Rodgers is
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: in the history of the league.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: Gotcha okay, okay?
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: He gives a little hut hut, and then they all
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: see that was a weak. Well, I'm not gonna do
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: it like I'm doing it now. As a way to
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: explain it to that might be your hard count.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: We're not doing this. I'm gonna get you to do it.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna get you to do it. Okay.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: A couple of questions about left tackle in the chat.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: Here in the emails, I should say, uh, the guy
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: they got from Cleveland. I'm assuming he's talking about Munford
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: or Marcus Bryant. If Vederian Lowe struggles. So Marcus Brian's
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: an interesting one because he played left tackle in college,
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: played left tackle last year at Missouri with Membu on
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: the right side, Are you thinking at all that? I
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: still think it's gonna be low But I guess the
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: question is is like, how short of a leash does
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: low have?
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Yeah? I think short. Since they have an extra will
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: they kind of have an extra day to get ready
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: for this game? I guess they're probably they're not gonna
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: practice on Thursday, right, They're off on Thursday.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: Assume no, it's Wednesday, Friday, Saturday this.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: So because of Thanksgiving? Yeah, I mean I think a
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: relatively quick, quick pull. Now, whether it's Mumford or Bryant
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: would be the question. Yeah, because remember Mumford was here
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: yep for a couple of weeks early in the season,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: so he may have the playbook, he should have the
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: playbook down a little bit. And was he working at
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: left tackle a right tackle when he was here. We
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: don't know. Like if they just feel like he's more
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: ready to step into left tackle specifically, and he's a
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: true swing tackle, then maybe they give it to him.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: But I don't think they're gonna score around with Drake
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: May's blindside. I don't now they're gonna give low help.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: I don't think they're gonna hang them out to dry.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: But if it's not working, I do think they'd make
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: a change.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with that. I think it's gonna be
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: a couple games.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: So and so.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Diana Russini, I guess has a report on Will Campbell.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: That's said it's at least four weeks. So the thing
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: I'd say about Bryant too, that people really want to
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: see Brian. Look, I get it, you want to see
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: what he can do. Like, they drafted this kid, and
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: let's let's find out. It's see how many he didn't
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: take a lot of reps at left tackle in the summer,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: did he, Marcus.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: Bryant, Yeah, a little bit, but not a lot. And
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: they've kind of been working him as the right tackle right.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: That's I wonder how much work he's gotten on the
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: left side. There was something I was thinking where he's
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: like Low's been there, he probably hasn't had a ton
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: of time over there. So even if they want to
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: go to him, and they'll probably started this week because
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: he's all right. If if Low's you bet you're now
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: you're starting left tackle, right, Bryan's probably your backup. Yeah,
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: it'll be so he's going to get and then maybe
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: it's Kane Wallace at right tackle or that's where Mumford is.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I don't know, but you know, it's probably going to
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: be a little bit of a ramp up to get
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: him ready to go in there if you need him.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: I wonder it could.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: It's been pretty clear from the jump, and I said
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: this yesterday on you that I do think that Bryant's
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: play style, body type in the McDaniel system fits more
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: the right side on the left side. But I do
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: wonder also, you know kind of related. You know, Morgan
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: Moses is thirty four years old.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: I think best case.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Scenario when you draft a guy in the seventh round,
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: if he's if he's a solid swing tackle, if he's
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: a solid third tackle, Adrian Waddall.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: You made a good draft pick.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Asking him to be like the air to Morgan Moses
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: is probably pretty hefty, you know, pretty high bar, but
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: still like that's the spot. You know, Campbell's going to
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: be at left tackle for the next ten years, you know, right,
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: So that's the spot that you look at that maybe
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: there could be an opening down the line. So a
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: combination of you know, getting him maybe as seeing him,
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: you know, work behind Moses, Like could he be the
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: right tackle of the future. We know Campbell's going to
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: be over there on left side, so I think that
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: he's probably worked mostly at right tackle in practice, but
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: he has played left tackle a lot in college.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: So Marcus Bryant thirty four and five eighths cinch arms,
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: he's a big dude. He's like six'. Eight, yeah, yeah
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: he's a big. Boy the dear low thirty five and
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: a half loong.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Arms maybe that'll help him. Out, well we were told
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: that that that's the only thing that. Matters do you
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: want to take a little bit of a victory wrap
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: here with?
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: Something what you?
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: KNOW i love a good victory and THEN i and
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: THEN i have a real QUESTION i want to ask
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: after this from the. Emails this is From tom And,
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: maine just wondering if this was just a fever DREAM
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: i had or were there are actually people In New
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: england wishing we HAD jj McCarthy Over. Drake look At,
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: alex look at how happy is THAT i brought this,
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: Up Drake Drake May may at the beginning of the.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Season, nope you did not.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Dream.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Tom i'm not going to call out. Names SOMETIMES i,
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: do But i'm not going. To i'm going to take
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: the high.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Road but it's been pretty rough FOR jj. McCarthy a
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: it's BEEN i feel for the.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: KID i don't want to like take a victory lap
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: on a twenty one year. Old it's going through. It
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: it's going through. IT i mean he's like it's.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: Football it's not like you're like, Victory like he's not
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: going through. It, well, no he's.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Concussion, okay, fine but you know What i'm, Saying, like
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: it's not like you're not it's it's just wild when
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: you look at and when he got, Drafted i'd said
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: at the, time like that's a pretty good spot for
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: him to go and if he's gonna succeed Anywhere between
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: O'Connell and, NOW i know their offensive line's been banged,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: up but that offensive line And Justin jefferson and, like
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: it's it's just a lot of what what we talked
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: about leading into the, draft and maybe he figures it
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: out down the. Road he's very, young and we've seen
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: guys have this kind of career. Resurgence this is the
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: new it thing in THE. Nfl The Baker, mayfields The Sam,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: darnolds who The vikings moved on, from The Daniel, joneses
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: who The vikings moved on. From, no IF i really
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: wanted to take a victory, lap i'd play the clip
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: of me On Felgrin maz saying THAT jj McCarthy Is
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Zach wilson waiting to. Happen BUT i won't do, that not.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: YET i am. EXCITED i am excited to See Max.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: BROSMER i do kind of Like Max. BROSMER i liked
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: him a little bit in the. Draft, NO i liked
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: him as like a you, know potential. Backup, now the
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: last TIME i said this about a guy Was bailey's,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: appy and that turned into whole. Thing Could Max Brosber bailey's?
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: APPY jj, McCarthy i don't. KNOW i liked him in the.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: DRAFT i liked him as kind of a project backup.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Quarterback he obviously, played he played. Well we saw him
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: against The patriots in the. Preseason, yeah that was somebody
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: we were talking about when we were wondering About Josh,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: dobbs if they need another, backup you, know if he got,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: cut if he'd be an. Option BUT i do like,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: UH i do Like. Brosmer i'm interested to see What
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: brosma is gonna. Do SO i think the biggest hell
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: he's gonna Be Tom. Brady but, RIGHT i haven't a full.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: DISCLOSURE i have, not you, know, actually FOR i wouldn't
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: have any reason. TO i haven't watched or you, know
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: STUDY jj McCarthy on film at. All but the things
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: That i've seen or that some of the cut ups
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: and some of what people are saying that do Study
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: vikings tape are saying is, that you, know he's having
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: a lot of trouble reading coverage and specifically reading. Leverage
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: you know a lot of, uh you, know we talk
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: about coverages like cover, One cover, two cover, three but
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: a lot of reading coverage from a quarterback perspective is
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: just reading the body positioning of the. Defender, Right so
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: the defender is sitting, inside then the route's going to break,
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: outside and you should know with anticipation that that's going to,
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: happen and you're going to have an open area of the.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: Field you, know it's called reading.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: Leverage you know the defender is sitting outside the route
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: and you know that the receiver is gonna run a,
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: slant then, you in, theory should have an easy throw
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: there away from the defender's. Leverage so when you watch
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: McCarthy a lot on, tape you know he doesn't really
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: see those leverage opportunities as quickly as he, should and
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: so that leads to throws that shouldn't really be tight
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: window throws becoming tight window Throw it's.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: That and then to, me everything's a fastball and people
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: talk about his arm.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Strengthening these go hand in hand BECAUSE i don't think
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: he's throwing with. Anticipation so what he's trying to do
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: is he's trying to make up for the lack of
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: anticipation with just throwing the ball as hard as he.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Can, yeah he doesn't really have a touch, throw and,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: look these are things that can be, coached that can be. Fixed,
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: again he's a young guy and maybe he figures it,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: out it's probably gonna have to be outside Of minnesota
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: at this. Point but, oh you're.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Already you're already having The vikings move.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: On we're already. There it's a you're going to need a.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Quarterback SO i don't, know but, LIKE i don't think
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: O'Connell's gonna if he can't get it. DONE i don't
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: think O'Connell's gonna waste. TIME i don't think O'Connell doesn't
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: seem like the kind of coach that would do the,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: obligatory mean to give them another year because you drafted.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Me you also memories going in a year.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: Three O'Connell needs needs his Brock party because this is
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: this is what happened With Trey lance and Brock.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Party is it Mac?
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: JONES i don't, know but he just needs his no
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: like it might, be but he doesn't have. That he
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: doesn't Have Black purty.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Yet, look he Needs maybe he could Get brocket if
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: The niners really Like Mac. Jones he needs that, guy
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: and then that's one of The niners quarterbacks is on
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: The vikings next year would be pretty.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: High, yeah all, right here comes another question from DON
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: i want to talk a little BIT afc playoff picture
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: and before we preview The giants, Game so right, now you,
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: know how do you see the basically simple, question how
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: do you see THE afc seating shaking? Out he thinks
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: The patriots win in The east is almost a. Lock
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: it isn't not mathematically over by any. Means it's getting
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: pretty close in terms of The patriots.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: When they win this. Week if The patriots beat The, giants.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: They could clinch the division against both no.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Matter What buffalo does against The. Steelers that's a hat
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: AND t shirt. Game, yes, okay? Yes is? It do
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: they can they clinch the playoffs this? Week or is
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: it one and the? SAME i haven't seen any eleven
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: wins they would. CLINCH i haven't seen any clinching. Scenarios
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: it feels like we're getting, there. Though come out On. Tuesdays,
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: yeah SO i.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: DIDN'T i didn't see. Those i'm starting to see.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Teams what's the reverse of a. Clinch we're starting to
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: see teams.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: Eliminated, yeah The giants are, eliminated and THE i think
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: The giants are eliminated and it's just The.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Giants how are The titans not? Eliminated they're one in
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: ten because their division leader is how are they not?
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: Eliminated i'm on THE nfl website right. Now is the
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: k the case is knocked? Out, oh knocked out of
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: division title. Contention The giants can. Playoffs The titans can
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: only go seven to. Ten that's not Making there's three
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: seven win wild card teams right. Now that's. Why, okay,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: yeah you're, Right so like there's STILL i go in
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: the playoff machine and try to.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: So they they're gonna get eliminated this. Week so right,
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: now just you, know reading off the standings really. Quickly
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: The patriots have an extra. Game but The patriots are
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: number one seed right? Now, Denver, Indye, baltimore The Lack,
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: Jacksonville buffalo is your top Seven Kansas city, Right New, England, Denver, Indy,
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: baltimore The Chargers Jackson.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: Bellway what'd you call The chargers? Lack don't, know but
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: that's not a thing you want to talk. About, Cringey,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: no that's so much all the. Time i've never heard.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: That don't do that. Anymore, wow that's bad. Fight so
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: The rams the Lar, yeah this Is Paul perrillo with.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: Him i've never heard. That, YEAH i don't love.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: That, Anyways, yeah, Clearly so here we. Go so The
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: patriots call him, lack not the. Lack, okay The patriots
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: are the one seed with the extra game and before
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: their bye week, here But DENVER i think currently still
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: has the tie breakers over The patriots IF i think
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: it's conference and THEN i think it's strength of victory
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: If i'm not.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: Mistaken is the next, one which.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Is, Yes so right now they are Both, no there's
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: common games in there, too oh.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: RIGHT i don't know if how many common games, it
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: but they're both six and two in the. Conference and
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: The broncos have a better strength of, victory but it
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: is currently than The. Patriots it is, close and The
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: patriots and The chiefs Are. Broncos so basically that's where we're.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: At if the playoffs sort of start the day of
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: The patriots will of course have the. Bye BUT i
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: think the more interesting thing to me is that if
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: they do fall down to the two seed Once denver
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: plays a game, in The patriots.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: Don't in terms of the tie.
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: Breakers you're looking at a situation NOW i, think you,
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: know Maybe jacksonville falls off, here but you're looking at
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: a situation where a team Like, Buffalo.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: Houston Or Kansas city is going to be that seventh.
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: Seed AND i have been kind of projecting this whole
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: time That buffalo would be the top wildcard BECAUSE i
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: have respect For buffalo AND i think they'll be the
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: best wildcard team in terms of their. Record but as
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: of right, now after they lost to The, texans they're
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: seven and four and they're the seventh seed right now
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: in THE. Afc how do you see this whole thing shaking?
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: OUT i think the number one team THAT i don't
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: know if they will hold on looking at it Is.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: JACKSONVILLE i just don't Trust. Jacksonville jacksonville's weird And Trevor
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: lawrence has just not been particularly. Great so IF i
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: had to, guess one Of houston Or Kansas city might
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: Jump jacksonville by the end of this, While.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: I'm just gonna throw this. Out SO i was playing
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: around with THE Espn playoff machine a little. Bit, yeah
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: the first and second seed could come down to The
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: cults are really tough schedule down stretch Of patriots And.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Broncos remember last year with the or two years ago
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: with the draft, stuff we were cheering for like random
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: games because it impacted the strength of, schedule that same
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: thing might. Happen LIKE i just flipped A Jet saints
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: game and it changed, Something so that's gonna be a.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Thing who DO i think is gonna fall out? THERE i,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: mean if, anybody The jaguars And chargers both, could like
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: do you end up with a wild? Card That's, Buffalo
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: houston And Kansas. CITY i think those are probably the
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: three best.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: TEAMS i just don't know if the way the schedule
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: is in the fact That Kansas city's margin For arabat
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: is basically zero at this, point you, know do they
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: have that ability TO i don't think they have to
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: run the table, necessarily BUT i think they have five
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: games left or six games, left five games, left they
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: have to go what four and, two five and, one
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: like they're NOT i think they could trip.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: Up, once but they're gonna have to mostly run the.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Table Bill's Texans.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: CHIEFS i think the team most likely to miss as The.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: CHIEFS i think the team most likely to go on
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: a late run here and really climb up Is. Houston,
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: yeah The bills are kind of in the. Middle Now
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: i'll ask you, This, okay those are because that's right,
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: now it's there's kind of a. Gap so you have
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: the three wild card teams are seven and, Four, Houston,
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Pittsburg Kansas city are six and, five and then No.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Gate no team is within two games of that. Group,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: yeah that being, said do you put any stock Into
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: Joe burrow being back and The bengals lurking as a.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Threat now they have The, Ravens, Bills, Ravens, Dolphins, Cardinals.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Browns not a, lot not a.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: LOT i think that they're they're two. BURIED i don't
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: know now If burrow plays that. Game SO i hear
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: a lot of this, too that If burrow, plays The
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: patriots lose or If chase, plays The patriots. Lose like to,
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: ME i think that's hard to do because it's a
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: butterfly effect of like are The patriots more locked?
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: In like do they play the game? Differently like you,
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: know when It's.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Chase Of beaconsalz the Way Mitchell tinsley, did.
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: It's hard to get up for a game against a
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: banged Up Joe flacco and No Jamar. Chase If Joe
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: burrow And Jamar chase are playing in that game On,
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: sunday that's a totally different.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: Feel like it's a totally different. Game SO i hate
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: playing that sort of.
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: Game AND i just think with The, bengals like on the,
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: WHOLE i don't know if their offense has really been the.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: Issue like they've scored points basically with both. Quarterbacks SO
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: i don't know If Joe burrow coming, Back now there's
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: the whole angle of like he's going to rally the
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: troops and everybody's gonna be, confident And I'LL i hear,
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: That BUT i don't know If Joe burrow coming back
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: is gonna fix what ails, Them like the are they
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: now all of a sudden gonna have a great defense
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: Because Joe burrow's, Back, LIKE i, mean it got a
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: little bit, Better LIKE i think it was a little
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: bit better Against, pittsburgh and it was a little bit
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: better against The, patriots but it's still not a good defense,
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Sure and SO i don't know how Much Joe burrow actually.
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: Fixes and that's not taking anything away From.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: BURROW i just all, right let me ask you one. More,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: yeah four and. Seven The, Dolphins, Saints, Jet, Steelers, Bengals, Bucks.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: Patriots are they lurking say that? Again, Saints, Jets, Steelers, Yeah, Bengals, Bucks,
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: patriots are they lurking.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: In terms of what the?
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Playoffs The patriots are in the. Playoffs, no The, dolphins The, Dolphins, Oh, Saints,
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: jets that's the rest of their. Schedule ye?
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: Gotcha, Okay. Dolphins i'm a little bit more optimistic about The.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: Dolphins oh. SEE i think there's a better chance The
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: bengals make a. RUN i think there's a better.
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: Chance that The dolphins make a run BECAUSE i think
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: that The bengals are gonna have to win their, division
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: AND i Think baltimore is gonna kind of blow doors
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: the rest of the.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: WAY i really.
- 1:24:26Speaker 6: DO i.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: DON'T i Think miami. IS i don't know what's going
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: on In. Miami, like Maybe miami's problem was not saying
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: that he's don't get all, upset not saying That mike McDaniel's.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: Perfect but Maybe miami's bigger problem was Actually Tyreek hill
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: and not Not mike.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: McDaniel is that.
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: Possible, well they were bad After Tyree hill got, hurt
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: but they're playing a lot better. NOW i just wonder
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: if the vibes are better In miami because of. THAT
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: i just look at it more in terms of like
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: your path, Right LIKE i think Since cincinnati's only pat
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: me to make the playoffs is to win the. Division
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: AND i just don't Think baltimore is gonna take. That
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: it's going to go backwards and.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: START i just think their wins this year home indoors it.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: HOME i think so. Too but like they still got
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: to go To New york And pittsburgh that's in the
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: cold In New. England. Yeah, now maybe The patriots aren't
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: playing for anything that last. Week it'd be, great who,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: knows but, like, yeah, okay.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: Anything changing in your mind in terms of who you
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: want to, play and if The patriots are playing on
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: wild card, Weekends chargers Or, jaguars and The chargers are
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: really The chargers are really banged. Up, yeah we've seen
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: what that team does coming here in the. Cold, yeah that's,
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: True AND i am with. YOU i IF i had
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: to pick one team THAT i would want to play
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: the most of The, Jacksonville.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Probably BUT i put those two in like a similar.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: TIER i don't think That.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: JACKSONVILLE i worry that that's going to Be houston instead Of.
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: Jacksonville And houston's not A.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Houston i'm not saying The patriots can't Beat houston and
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: we'll see how well that defense. Travels but that defense
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: is the real. Deal that's going to be a tough
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: one if they have to play.
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: Them all, right let's Take mars call and then we'll
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: get to The giants and we'll wrap it up on The.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: Giants what's, Up?
- 1:26:04Speaker 9: Mark, hey, guys how you doing? Today Happy thanksgiving. Guys
- 1:26:12Speaker 9: i'm telling YOU i cannot See Vederian lowe out there
- 1:26:16Speaker 9: one more. TIME i, mean the guy is literally falling
- 1:26:20Speaker 9: over his. FEET i THINK i saw him two or
- 1:26:22Speaker 9: three times literally just fall flat on his face and
- 1:26:25Speaker 9: there was nobody even around. HIM i can't watch that.
- 1:26:29Speaker 9: ANYMORE i Think bryant is an excellent. TACKLE i think
- 1:26:33Speaker 9: he played pretty well when he came in For Morgan
- 1:26:35Speaker 9: moses on the. Right i'd love to see him on the.
- 1:26:38Speaker 9: Left i'm not sure about this guy that we just picked,
- 1:26:41Speaker 9: up BUT i really think that at this, point anything
- 1:26:45Speaker 9: is better Than Viderian. LOWE i can't believe that they
- 1:26:47Speaker 9: kept the guy after last. YEAR i, mean you, know
- 1:26:51Speaker 9: we just we got to move on from. Him the
- 1:26:54Speaker 9: last thing is from a fantasy, Perspective, alex who would
- 1:26:59Speaker 9: you Play Lamar jackson this? Week Or Drake may you don't.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: Want to ask me fantasy QUESTIONS a little bad at.
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: It Lamar jackson against The bengals Or Drake may against The.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Giants, Correct, Well bengals defense has to, regress, right you would.
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: Think.
- 1:27:17Speaker 9: AND i would think That baltimore has to.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: Win but it is a division. Game it is a division.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: Game Drake, may it's a short.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: Week i'd probably Go lamar Ask, evin he actually plays
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: fantasy football a little. Bit i'd probably Go Lamar mark
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: just BECAUSE i don't. KNOW i just HAVE i have you,
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: know easy have two TIME. MVP i have a little
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: bit more faith in guys like that, sometimes you, know
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: than a young player Like. Drake So i'd probably Go.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: Lamar BUT i think that you could see it either.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: WAY i.
- 1:27:51Speaker 9: Agree and what's your take On Vederian? Low are you? Agreement?
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: Look you, know and thanks for the.
- 1:27:56Speaker 8: Call.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Mark we're gonna let you go and we'll answer your
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: question About.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: Low i'm not nearly as strong As mark is on
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: the anti Vendarian low. TRAIN i he was not good
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: for them last, year but a lot of people did
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: not play good football for The patriots last. Year and
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: was he really set up in a great position to
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: succeed with that coaching. Staff on top of, that like
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: he had to. Play we're talking about him playing, LIKE
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: i don't know what did he played like thirteen games last?
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: Year fourteen games last? Year played a no because chokes
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: the coor four played one.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: But he didn't finish.
- 1:28:29Speaker 6: It.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Ye, Yeah well so he played a lot of games last.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: Year you're hope he played. Fourteen you're hoping That.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: Vederian lil only has to play like four, games three,
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: games four games this, year, Right so it's a much,
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: shorter much smaller sample. Size AND i REMEMBER i looked
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: this up last night because as we segue here to The,
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: giants The giants on paper have a pass rush that
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: you should. Fear you, know A, Carter Brian, Burns Dexter
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: lawrence rushing in the. Middle it's a good.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: Group they have, underperformed wildly, underperformed and that's why they're head.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: Coaching their defensive coordinator no longer have. JOBS i would
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: say that's the main reason they have the second highest
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: payroll in THE nfl on, defense including a third overall
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: pick rookie And Abdull carter all invested in their. Defense
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: Dibideau Carter Burns, lawrence and with that, group they are
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: twenty third in pressure. Rate they are fifteenth in past
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: rush win. Rate that's not good. Enough if that's how
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: heavily invested you are and all of, that that is
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: not good enough if you're The. Giants that's why their
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: staff has gotten blown. Out, now at the same, time
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: those guys individually are still disruptive and can still wreck a.
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: Game SO i went AND i looked back at this
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: and BECAUSE i remember watching remember The Raiders patriots game
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: In Mexico city twenty, Seventeen, Yeah Mexico city. Game at
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: right tackle for that, GAME i think that it was
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: supposed to Be Marcus. CANNON i think he was the
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: starter that. YEAR i can't remember exactly who they had
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: at right. Tackle it's kind of blurred lines Between volmer And,
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: cannon and when exactly those transitions. HAPPENED i think it
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: Was cannon they needed to Start Lee Adrian. Waddle canon
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: was hurt in that, game So Lee Adrian waddle started
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: that game In Mexico city in twenty seventeen against Prime Khalil,
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: mack who rushed over the right tackle for most of his.
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: Career so we're talking about A hall Of fame, player
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: and he guesses on how many sacks Le Adrian waddle
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: gave up in that.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: Game non zero was the right tackle the, yeah so.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: Zero so that to, me not to testament To Adrian
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: waddle like, good good effort by.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: Him is WHY i always say they need a guy
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: like Le Adrien.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: Wattle good effort by.
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: Him you guys laugh WHEN i bring him up like
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: they're a valuable. Player good effort by. Him but at
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: the same, time that's, coaching, right that's. McDaniel Dante scarnecia
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: was still on the staff at that. Point they were
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: able to piece it. Together that was just one, game
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: but they were able to piece it. Together can The
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: patriots piece together for you, know let's call it four
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: or five weeks Of Darian lowe at left tackle instead
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: Of Will, campbell that's the question that's.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: Gonna that's the next To Joe.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: Toney Probably watt was playing right that, day so it's
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: next to shat good, player, Right, YEAH i, mean that's
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: what they're gonna have to.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: Do that's what they're gonna have to. Do so a
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: couple of things with This giants.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Team Hey Derian low's coach Not Vderian Lowlador wills coaching
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: high school fotball now for him all coach and run
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: game coordinator At Bishop Dune Catholic.
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: School so there's the difficult part about this matchup to.
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: Me for The, giants AND i hate writing and talking
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: about games like. This they have a brand new coaching.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: Staff they have an interim head coach it's only coached
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: two games In Mike, kafka and then they just and
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: they just hire Fired Shane bowen and Appointed Charlie bullen
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: as their defensive coordinator slash play caller on. Defense there
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: is a big element of unknown with. That last week
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: Against detroit they ran true two trick plays for long.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: Touchdowns on, offense you don't really know how Much bulan's gonna,
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: change you, know in a. Week you don't think he's
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: gonna change a. Ton it's probably gonna be relatively the.
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: Same but each play caller has different. Tendencies they like
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: different things in different, situations like for, example.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Third and.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: Five you, Know bowen might have all these tendencies on
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: third and. Five Does bolan have the same tendencies on
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: third and five As bowen? Does and when you face that,
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: situation what are you looking?
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: At what are you?
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: Expecting like those different types of things gives this game
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: a little bit of an, unknown.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: Right and it's tough because it's not like you can
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: go back and, look he's never called plays. Before he's
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: a long time linebackers, Coach so it's not like you
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: can go all, right, well you, know we talked about
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: this With mike McCoy and you were going way. Back
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: but Like mike McCoy had coached, before had been a head,
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: coach so you kind of go maybe study some of those.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: Tendencies you can't really do that. Here and the other
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: thing is he AND i talked To David andrews about
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: this this, week he is going to be more aggressive in. General,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: yeah so the issues The patriots had with The blitz last, week,
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: like you're just gonna see a more aggressive, defense whether
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: that's what you know The bengals put on tape last
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: week or. Not he's trying to show up. Again never
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: been a coordinator. Before here's a chance for him to
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: maybe get on the league. Map and you come out
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: first game as an INTERIM dc and you shut Down Drake,
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: may you might get some.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: Calls, Yeah so he we don't really know What Charlie
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: bullen's defense is gonna look. Like what we can go
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: off of is what The giants have been AND i,
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: AGAIN i they're not going to reinvent the wheel in a,
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: week so it's gonna be somewhat.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: Similar.
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: Uh they play a lot of man. Coverage they're one
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: of the highest rates of man coverage in the ENTIRE
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: nfl this.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Year.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: Uh they play a lot of five man pass. Rush
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: my guess is that.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: You're gonna see more three and four man pass rush
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: with a spy On Drake may in this. Game Maybe
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: Abdull carter spying him a little.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Bit.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: Uh it was A Abdul carter do that in college
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: and he's, like he's awesome at.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: That he's a really good. SPY.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: H so maybe it hits him that's gonna be the.
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: Spy this pass rush worries me a little.
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: Bit it's.
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: Legit they get after the. Quarterback the numbers might not
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: bear it, out but on paper you can see how
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: they can be. Dangerous the other element of this game
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: that we are kind of unsure about is who's going
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: to pay quarterback for The. Giants so we have a
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: new defensive play caller we have an interim head, coach
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: and we don't know exactly On wednesday at you, know eleven,
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: thirty who's going to play quarterback for The giants On Monday.
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: Night it definitely sounds like it's trending Towards Jackson's dart
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: being back in this. Game BUT i will add it's,
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: there but It's giants bye week next week as, well
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: so do you if he's kind of like if he
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: clears protocol late in the, week, like do you throw
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: him in there on A monday night game or do
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: you just take the bye week reset and bring him
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: back for the last four. Games he's going to come
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: back because he needs the. Reps he's a rookie quarterback
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: and he needs the, Reps but do you know run
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: him out? There so to, speak with all this concussion,
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: nonsense when you have that bye weekly and you're not
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: really playing for anything in terms of, STANDINGS i don't.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: KNOW i would much rather Play Jameis, Winston there's no
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: doubt about. It i'd much rather Play Jameis. Winston but
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: it does sound like it's trending towards, it but potentially Being.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: Dart, YEAH i, mean it's it's. Tricky you wanted to
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: get the. Experience this is good prime time on the.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Road you get him a chance that. Environment but he's
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: had multiple concussion issues this, year so that's a tricky. One,
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: yeah it.
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: Is and you know a couple of things With, Dart
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: he's particularly been good on extended plays and design quarterback.
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: Run but are you really going to run him coming
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: off a. Concussion but that's the.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: Thing you don't play him if you can't run the
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: full compliment of.
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: Place so it's very different, offenses is WHY i bring it, up,
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: Right so With Jackson dart, there AND i wouldn't say
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: they're they're completely copying it Because Lane kiffen does some creative,
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: things but they're they're putting him in the shotgun spread
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: all the, Time like it's like seventy five percent shotgun
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: rate When jackson darts in the, game because that's what
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: he did at all miss that's what he did in,
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: college that's what he's comfortable. Doing With jameis Wins In Russell,
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: wilson they've been an under center heavy. Offense they've actually
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: been the total. Opposite so this is totally uh this
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: in this, instance you are kind of preparing for two different. Offenses,
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: Right it's not like last, week, right so it is
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: a little bit more of a. Factor you, Know dart
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: has been a gun run quarterback RPOs design quarterback, run,
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: uh drop back pass from the. Gun Jameis winston's been
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: under center bombs away As James winston.
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: Does so it's a big.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: Different touchdown passes From.
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: Gunnroshewski, yeah double plus double, passes trick, plays crazy, Nonsense.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: How awesome was?
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: That SO i it'd be interesting to, see uh What kafka,
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: says what they?
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: Do you, know if he practices without a red non
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: contact and in full you know he's, cleared.
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Right and they're also is the thing of, like hey
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: he's our starting. Quarterback if he can, play he's gonna.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: Play and just the message that that. Sense you got
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: no thoughts on gun throwing a touchdow Past James, Winson,
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: no because it didn't work and it. Works jamis apparently
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: has excellent ball.
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: Skills, yeah but it like shouldn't have, worked but it.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: Did they have a gutter navigating the pocket.
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: And neither one of them should have, worked like the
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: first one that they, ran the double pass That winston,
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: actually you know they threw it back To, winston And
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: winston threw it To Wandell. Robinson Wandell robinson was opened
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: for like five, minutes and it took so long to
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: execute the hand off fake and then the throwback To
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: winston that The lions actually almost broke up the pass
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: in the end zone To Wandell, robinson even Though Wandell,
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: robinson if you look at the all twenty two was
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: open the entire play until the catch point and then
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: it's like it's a traffic area at the catch. Point
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: and then the one to the Gunner roschewsky touchdown, Pass
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: WINSTON'S i don't know how he caught the ball and
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: THEN i don't know how he broke.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: The tackle on the. Ends because He's Jameis, winston he.
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: Does it's. Crazy apparently he's like an elite tight.
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: End if It's Jameis winston On monday, night he's going
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: to give you two or three chances to pick off
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: passes and you got to take advantage like.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: That that's The James Cover Jameis winston.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: Game In Jameis.
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: Winston, uh you know in the open we, say you,
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: know no risk, it no. Biscuit that Is Jameis. Winston
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: that was birth From Jameis. Winston this guy has a
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: high turn turnover worthy play rate and a high big.
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: Time he's, thirty mister thirty. Thirty, like that's that's the
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: GUY i want to play On Monday.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: Night Jamis, Okay SO i was about to Say Jameis
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: winston is the embodiment of fun chaos.
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: FOOTBALL i would much rague. Chaos, Alright, yeah that's Why
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: i'd much rather play him IF i was The. PATRIOTS
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: i Think dart's got SOMETHING i was impressed, watching but.
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: IT'S i said in the. Draft my thing On dart was,
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: LIKE i don't love, him BUT i think in the
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: right situation it makes sense and The giants can build
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: up that offensive line a little. Bit Molik neighbors comes
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: back fully, Healthy LIKE i actually do like that spot
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: for HIM i.
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: HAD i can kind of see it With, dart And
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: i'll give The giants the coach, Though i'll give him
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: a little bit of. Credit their offense has not gone
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: in the, tank despite the fact that they've played three different.
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: Quarterbacks Molik neighbors is out for the. Season they Fired Brian.
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: Dable they have an interim head coach and they're like
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: eighteenth and Dvo.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: At which in like a hot coaching name for a. While.
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: Yep was he the ORIGINAL qb coach For. MAHOMES i
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: know he was In Kansas city.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: One he, was he was one of THE qb. COACHES
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: i don't.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: Know he was the quarterbacks coach eighteen through twenty. One
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: he was the passing game coordinator in twenty and twenty.
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: One so you say they need to get the right
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: coach in, There i'm not, now they need to win
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: some games down the, stretch. Right kavka has been interviewed
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: for head coaching jobs in the. Past he's kind of
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: a hot. Name he's a tight pants. Guy he's a former, player,
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: quarterback you, know former oc you, know like he's got
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: all that going, on, Right like he's got that is
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: that's it. Now dable didn't, play but they hired that
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: kind of guy With, Dable so maybe they want to
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: completely move away from. That but If kavka had wins
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: some games here down the stretch Like Darth, nion there is.
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: Going to be.
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: Somewhere. Yeah he also he said he read off his,
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: resume what do you know about the twenty ten out back?
- 1:39:57Speaker 9: Ball?
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: Oh, god let's not do.
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: This, NO i gotta give you stat, line real, quick go.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: Ahead and the twenty ten Out Back bowl Against, Auburn Mike,
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: coffins quarterback For, northwestern went forty seven for seventy. Eight,
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: yeah you want to talk about no risk and no.
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: Biskit forty seven for seventy, eight five hundred and thirty two,
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: yards four, touchdowns five. Picks also recorded twenty carries for
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: thirty yards in a. Touchdown good. Numbers that's the guy
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: who should be Coaching jamis wit is? It you know
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: you didn't listen to anything as no four, touchdowns five.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: Picks i'll take, that no, risk no best.
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: Hit this.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: Wild they.
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: The giants, OFFENSE i give them some. Credit the defense
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: is completely. Underperformed in. Stinks their offense, though like they should,
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: stink and they kind of are, middling WHICH i give
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: them credit for for keeping it. Together there one last
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: thing On.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Dart, Also patriots Legend Jeremy everard caught six passes for
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: sixty four yards in that.
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: Game, okay one last thing On dart and then we
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: have a couple more calls and. Stuff the, splits the
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: man zone splits are. Crazy he is much worse against
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: man coverage for whatever, reason much. Worse like it's like, crazy.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Which is weird because to, run so you'd think he'd you,
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: know take advantage of. That, yeah it is.
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: INTERESTING i thought it would be the opposite as. Well
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: usually young quarterbacks have difficult time with zone because you
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: have to read out zone and it's more about reads
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: and scheme and finding the voids and all that kind
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: of stuff man to manage just like pick a match
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: up and throw at, it. Right so normally young quarterbacks that's,
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: more that's simpler for, them that's easier for. Them H
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: Wandell robinson's a good man beating, receivers kind of like
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: their Pop. Douglas BUT i wonder if maybe you, know
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: the lack of weaponry shows up, there you, know no.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: Neighbors slayton's, Fine, YEAH i do wonder Like robinson's the
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: kinder receiver Like TREMARY dk And, tennessee like that prototype
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: of receiver has given them.
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: Trouble, Yeah Marcus jones should be On Wandel. Robinson but you,
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: know that's a speed on speed matchup in the. Slot
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: so hopefully that that goes The patriots way On. Sunday
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: BUT i are A. Monday excuse. ME i was really
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: shocked that how bad darts numbers are against man compared
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: to his. Own SO i expect man with a spy
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: on third down in this game from The patriots of
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: dart plays in the.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: GAME i think that's about.
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: It on The, giants their run defense is historically. Bad
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: this is a weakness on weakness matchup in that. Regard
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: patriots rush offense has not been. Good they're thirtieth in
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: the league AND epa as a run, offense and then
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: The giants are thirty second in the league and pretty
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: much every statistical category as a run defense and, theory
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: your run offense has been a little bit better than
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: their defense has been stopping the. Run last, Week Jamior
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: gibbs had like what two twenty five or something like.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: THAT a couple of big.
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: Runs you, know downhill runs have really given them. Problems
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: here's a good staff for you before we wrap it
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: up on man gap. Schemes so just like downhill duo
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: lead you know, power The giants are giving up seven
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: point nine yards of carry the next the next closest,
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: team the thirty first team in the.
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: League you're gonna like.
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: This who want to guess who the thirty first team
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: in the league. Is it's stopping it stopping downhill. Tradition,
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: yeah traditional downhill, runs gap. Schemes Buffalo, bills The Buffalo, bills,
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: right thirty first The Buffalo, bills so seven point nine
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: yards for The. Giants The Buffalo bills are thirty first.
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: Four it's a two yard. Difference, wow it's a two
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: yard difference like. That you don't see that a whole.
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: Lot so if you're looking for The patriots to run
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: the ball against a historically bad run, defense even With
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: Dexter lawrence, inside they cannot stop the run down the
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: middle of the. Field And Jamior gibbs just torched, them
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: torched them on those types of. Runs so there you have.
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: It all, Right we're gonna let you guys wrap it
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: up here for.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Us tony is In. Canada what's, Up? Tony, hi.
- 1:43:57Speaker 11: Guys, Yeah i'm just. SORRY i just this show, now
- 1:44:01Speaker 11: So i'm just catching a late apologies IF i asked
- 1:44:04Speaker 11: something you guys have already. Discussed but looking at the big,
- 1:44:08Speaker 11: PICTURE i don't know if we're going to get THE
- 1:44:11Speaker 11: afc overall and the number one by BUT i think
- 1:44:14Speaker 11: THE Afc east is definitely. Realistic SO i think, QUESTION
- 1:44:19Speaker 11: i want to ask you guys real, quick which games
- 1:44:22Speaker 11: do you think we have to win in order to
- 1:44:24Speaker 11: finish in THE.
- 1:44:25Speaker 12: Afc east The, bills they, have The paths and The
- 1:44:29Speaker 12: eagles as their hardest match. Up for, us it's The
- 1:44:32Speaker 12: bills And. Ravens And i'll get off the line here right.
- 1:44:35Speaker 12: Away but last, question real, quick if you can answer
- 1:44:38Speaker 12: and please humor, Me batman Or?
- 1:44:41Speaker 11: Superman that's.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: All thank, Thanks.
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: Tony i'm A batman guy, Person Batman Dark knight. TRILOGY
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: i even liked the new one with what's his Name?
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: PATTINSON i haven't seen That one's pretty. Good, yeah but
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: The New superman was good.
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: TOO i like. It i'm not a big like superhero movie,
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: guy BUT i mean The Dark knight movies.
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: Are The New superman is pretty. Solid you, know he
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: has a, dog which obviously gives him brownie points in my.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: Mind in terms of THE, afcas you, know, LOOK i
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: would love to see The patriots beat The bills and
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: The ravens too and really make a statement in those.
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: Games but in, actuality they really just need to beat The,
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: giants The, jets and The.
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: Dolphins if they clean up on that they should Be,
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: okay they're gonna. Win they're gonna be at thirteen, wins.
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: Right if they can just get one of the two
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: between The bills and The, ravens they're being great.
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: Shape, YEAH i mean that would be like dream.
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: SCENARIO i do think that there's a, possibility AND i
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: was thinking about this that if they beat The bills
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: and that's a division clincher and t shirt the letdown
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: Against buffalo or Against, Baltimore excuse me is staring at,
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: You so maybe you, KNOW i think it'd probably be
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: more likely that they off the by get up For,
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: buffalo win the, division and then they probably go To
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: baltimore and maybe they have a little bit of a letdown.
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: Game AND i also wonder if you, know we're gonna
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: pick all these games and we get to the end
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: of the year and maybe That miami game doesn't mean.
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: Anything, yeah, Yeah but if they beat The, giants The,
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: jets and The, dolphins and they take care of business
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: against the teams they should, beat they're going to be
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: at thirteen and four at worst case, scenario, right and
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: that should easily win the division and maybe even so.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: Well, actually if they do, That so if they can
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: just beat to your, point just beat the teams they, Should, Jets, Giants. Dolphins,
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: yeah one loss from The bills would would give them the.
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: Division so you would just need The bills to lose To, Philly,
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: Cincinnati cincinnati With, burrow, right With, Burrow, pittsburgh maybe that's At.
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: Pittsburgh they're probably not gonna lose to The browns Or.
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: Jets but, yeah, NO i, mean you don't even necessarily
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: need to beat The. Bills if you take care of,
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: business you can have, to but it's, yeah it'd be,
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: nice all, right last, Call, eldred wrap us.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: Up what's, Up?
- 1:46:52Speaker 13: Beldrid, Hey so let's tell y'all are doing.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: Today they?
- 1:46:55Speaker 13: Good, hey Bart, ALEX i love you on The mother podcast,
- 1:46:58Speaker 13: man love of most of the. Time but What i'm
- 1:47:03Speaker 13: worrying about, is LIKE i said that we had a
- 1:47:06Speaker 13: historic bad. Defense we couldn't run against that we didn't
- 1:47:09Speaker 13: play it against a couple of, times and we still,
- 1:47:10Speaker 13: get you, know not that many. Yards but one day Of,
- 1:47:15Speaker 13: ROBINSON i don't know If Marcus jones to run with,
- 1:47:18Speaker 13: him cause that food is past BECAUSE i saw, him you,
- 1:47:20Speaker 13: know saw the game again last, night you, know on
- 1:47:23Speaker 13: THE Nfl. Network, Yeah i'm Like, darren you, know And
- 1:47:27Speaker 13: evan Be kevin about going Against, kevil about going Against.
- 1:47:30Speaker 13: WINSTON i know he might give you something but that
- 1:47:32Speaker 13: but that guy can't throw and he is, Accurate so
- 1:47:35Speaker 13: you gotta Be kevin With. Jacksville But i'm hoping we
- 1:47:37Speaker 13: pull it. Off i'm thinking twenty one BECAUSE i think
- 1:47:41Speaker 13: they're gonna put some points on the. Board, YEAH i
- 1:47:44Speaker 13: don't know how office line gonna.
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: Be, YEAH i like that.
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: Prediction eligent dame for the. Call, Yeah i'm a Big
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: Wandell robinson. Fan but his game is a lot Like Pop.
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: Douglas's he's a speed. Slot he's not a like jitterbug.
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: Slide he's on an underneath. Slot they targeted him a
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: lot on like crossers and deep overs and you, know
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: vertical routes out of the slot and his like a
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: dots like over ten like you, know like he's a
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: down the field receiver with a lot of, speed a
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: lot Like. Pop Pop douglas is playing in this role
- 1:48:13Speaker 3: for The patriots. Now uh he's their leading. Receiver he's
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: been their best player on offense without, neighbors and he's
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: a good.
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: PLAYER i like watching them. PLAY i love those types
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: of guys that create that kind of.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: Separation.
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: Uh the run, Game, yeah it's a it's a concern.
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: Now My my biggest thing with the run game and
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: we have to wrap it, Up alex is uh THAT
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: i want it to be situationally.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: GOOD i don't need.
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: Them to be a dominant run. Team they're a dominant passing.
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: Team they're an explosive passing, team a high efficiency passing.
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: GAME i don't need them to be a great passing
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: or run, game, LIKE i don't need this good, enough
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: just situationally short, yardage five minute offense to close out,
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: games goal line like you need to be able to
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: gain yards on the. Ground when you need to gain
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: yards on the, Ground, yeah doesn't mean that needs to
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: be you like the the hallmark of your offense or
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: like the foundation of your. Offense but when it's you,
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: know first and goal from the, one you need to
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: be able to get it to punch it in and
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: score a.
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: Touchdown, sure all, right what a hard count for.
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: Us, now we'll be back next, week coming off The
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: monday night football. Game it's it will be the bye,
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: week so no game to, preview but we'll still be.
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: Here On, wednesday and we will still be talking about
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: That giants, game And i'll maybe look ahead To buffalo
