- 0:01Speaker 1: Do you guys remember when we did the segment with
- 0:03Speaker 1: Stephen Nesbit the other day on people's wild and whacky
- 0:07Speaker 1: rule ideas. Some people sent us in afterward. I'll give
- 0:12Speaker 1: you one. Michael Davis YouTube comment to FT I want
- 0:17Speaker 1: to reduce strikeouts two strikeouts and every inning except the ninth.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I was like, wait, wouldn't that promote strikeouts? Wouldn't you
- 0:28Speaker 1: want a guy who can just punch out the world
- 0:31Speaker 1: or it wouldn't.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Make any sense.
- 0:33Speaker 3: You mean you only have to get two outs if
- 0:34Speaker 3: it's two strikeouts, like the inning's over correct, No, that
- 0:39Speaker 3: would do the exact opposite. Sorry, was it, Michael, Michael what.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Davis?
- 0:46Speaker 5: The guys, Well, no, then you would just it would
- 0:49Speaker 5: be it would be walkathon walkathon for whatever you're gonna
- 0:54Speaker 5: earn some money, like it would just be crazy, dude,
- 0:56Speaker 5: would if you're going for strikeouts all the time? Okay,
- 0:59Speaker 5: get a double, get a strikeout?
- 1:06Speaker 2: True?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Is there anything that you can use from what he
- 1:09Speaker 1: gave us to punish strikeouts?
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah? Make them matter.
- 1:15Speaker 6: When hitters hit to the front office, those strikeouts don't matter.
- 1:18Speaker 6: They consider it another out. And if you want to
- 1:21Speaker 6: make it matter, if you want to make strikeouts go away.
- 1:24Speaker 6: You make it matter when players get paid they strike
- 1:26Speaker 6: out less. It's real simple. If you make batting average
- 1:28Speaker 6: and you make strikeout percentage matter more, Luisa Rai, see
- 1:31Speaker 6: Luisa Rai, I see some of these. You know, see
- 1:33Speaker 6: Zaia Edwards in Miami.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Make it matter.
- 1:37Speaker 6: And if it matters more, you know, getting hits and
- 1:39Speaker 6: not just slug, then strikeout numbers will go down. But
- 1:42Speaker 6: if you don't, they're going to continue to rise because
- 1:44Speaker 6: nobody cares, especially the players play the way that they
- 1:48Speaker 6: will get the most paid in the most playing time.
- 1:50Speaker 6: And if that means that you strike out, but you
- 1:53Speaker 6: hit thirty strikeout two hundred times, so you hit thirty,
- 1:55Speaker 6: then players are going to try and do that, all
- 1:56Speaker 6: of them, even if they're not built that way.
- 1:58Speaker 4: But here's my question from offices.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Are playing to the way that they think they need
- 2:04Speaker 1: to win, which is based on the way that the
- 2:05Speaker 1: game is implemented. So my question is is there something
- 2:09Speaker 1: you can do within the sport even if it's not
- 2:12Speaker 1: really reasonable. But we're playing a game here to curb
- 2:17Speaker 1: K's like, is there an actual rule change?
- 2:23Speaker 6: There's not because players are going to play the way
- 2:24Speaker 6: that they're going to get paid. They're paid, and strikeouts
- 2:26Speaker 6: do no matter. They're going to continue to strike out
- 2:28Speaker 6: two hundred and fifty times. No one cares if the
- 2:31Speaker 6: most if the most concussions. Now this is injuries and
- 2:34Speaker 6: not money. But the most concussions in football happen across
- 2:37Speaker 6: the middle, but the most touchdowns happen across the middle.
- 2:42Speaker 6: Teams are going to go for the most touchdowns and
- 2:46Speaker 6: risk it for the biscuit on concussions. So teams are
- 2:50Speaker 6: going to go for the most home runs. The Jay's game,
- 2:52Speaker 6: the Jays were slapping the ball around yesterday. They've scored
- 2:55Speaker 6: two runs. Ryan McMahon not the best hitter on the Yankees.
- 2:59Speaker 6: One swing, three run dinger. Yankees are winning three to
- 3:03Speaker 6: two in in a small sample size. Nobody's ever gonna
- 3:07Speaker 6: care about strikeouts anymore until the value of it in
- 3:10Speaker 6: arbitration till Luisa Rise gets the same amount of money
- 3:14Speaker 6: as Kyle Schwarber.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and this actually plays to velocity too, because I've
- 3:20Speaker 1: heard pretty smart people in the sport trying to figure
- 3:23Speaker 1: out how to curb the arm injuries, and you know
- 3:26Speaker 1: it gets brought up. Oh well, we got to promote
- 3:28Speaker 1: that it's not all about velocity, but more velocity generally
- 3:33Speaker 1: gives you the ability to miss more backs get away
- 3:37Speaker 1: with things right, So they'll take that risk.
- 3:39Speaker 4: We're gonna lose an arm. Cool, we'll bring up the
- 3:41Speaker 4: next arm.
- 3:42Speaker 1: That's why I'm like, just you go ahead, go tell Go,
- 3:45Speaker 1: tell Miz who we're about to talk about, or tell
- 3:48Speaker 1: anybody right. Tell Scherzer in his prime, Hey, dude, I
- 3:52Speaker 1: know you're pumping ninety eight ninety nine.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Max.
- 3:54Speaker 1: We'd like to see ninety four ninety five out of you.
- 3:57Speaker 1: He would be like, eat shit, I'm good. Yeah, can
- 4:04Speaker 1: you imagine? Hey, aj, we need you to tell your
- 4:07Speaker 1: ace tell sale Eh, dude, we're worried about you throwing
- 4:12Speaker 1: ninety eight ninety nine. Can you just throw ninety five?
- 4:14Speaker 1: We feel like that'll be.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Better for your long term health.
- 4:18Speaker 2: That's what they used to say to team.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I know it used. It doesn't work anymore.
- 4:21Speaker 6: That's exactly what they used to tell guys. Yes, now
- 4:25Speaker 6: they don't tell me. They told the opposite. We need
- 4:27Speaker 6: you to give us everything you have for five innings,
- 4:29Speaker 6: and before it was like, we need you to go
- 4:31Speaker 6: seven and when you need to dial it up Berland
- 4:33Speaker 6: or sures or they could dial it up to ninety
- 4:35Speaker 6: eight or ninety nine when they needed to, but they
- 4:36Speaker 6: would pitch it ninety three, ninety four, and then all
- 4:39Speaker 6: of a sudden, here comes the hard one. I mean,
- 4:43Speaker 6: that was the way it used to be, but you know, hey,
- 4:45Speaker 6: it's changed.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Well, keep the ideas coming. We like it. Let's charge.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Charge it out.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And it's powered by Perfect Inning twenty six. Great free
- 4:58Speaker 1: game to get on your phone.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Go check it out.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Let's talk about the NL Central.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Two weeks ago, the Milwaukee Brewers stood in last place
- 5:07Speaker 1: early May. Now we're deep into May, the Brewers are
- 5:11Speaker 1: in first place as they topped the Cubs again.
- 5:14Speaker 4: And also the mizz is on fire. He's the best
- 5:16Speaker 4: picture in the month of May.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So what do you think of those no namers, those
- 5:21Speaker 1: Milwaukee Brewers jumping ahead from last to first in a
- 5:24Speaker 1: really good division as we can see here. Cardinals will
- 5:29Speaker 1: talk about soon with Jim Hayes as they sit in
- 5:31Speaker 1: second place right now, tied with the Chicago Cubs. But
- 5:34Speaker 1: here comes Milwaukee usually, I mean, what it takes a
- 5:37Speaker 1: little bit more time. Milwaukee's already making a statement here
- 5:40Speaker 1: and we're in May.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, listen, we keep saying that the milwaukeuntil
- 5:46Speaker 6: someone beats Milwaukee take the over on their wins, and
- 5:50Speaker 6: Pat Murphy just does it again. They find the right pieces.
- 5:52Speaker 6: Something about that place. They know how to find the
- 5:54Speaker 6: right pieces. They find the right players for Murph to
- 5:57Speaker 6: plug in. Matt Arnold does a great job of acquiring
- 5:59Speaker 6: the right players. They have a system that they trust
- 6:02Speaker 6: in and they believe in. And this is kind of
- 6:05Speaker 6: the model. It's the Rays in the American League and
- 6:09Speaker 6: it's the Brewers in the National League. For the smallesh
- 6:11Speaker 6: market teams, how to win in the margins, how to
- 6:13Speaker 6: make the moves when they need to move them, not
- 6:15Speaker 6: keep a guy too long. Sometimes they hold on to
- 6:17Speaker 6: Willia Domas and then let them walk. Sometimes they trade
- 6:20Speaker 6: Corbyn Burns, sometimes they trade Josh Hader. They trade their
- 6:23Speaker 6: guys at the right time. Freddie Perraulton get pieces that
- 6:26Speaker 6: they think will fit in on their team. And they
- 6:29Speaker 6: must do a tremendous job on backgrounds and makeup and
- 6:32Speaker 6: things like that that other teams don't really necessarily maybe
- 6:34Speaker 6: care about as much. But when you go into the Brewers'
- 6:37Speaker 6: clubhouse and you listen to Murf talk and you talk
- 6:39Speaker 6: to Matt Arnold, and you talk to these players, they
- 6:41Speaker 6: get it. They're together, they all get along. It's pretty
- 6:45Speaker 6: remarkable what the Brewers have done for the players that
- 6:47Speaker 6: they've lost over the last five this years. And they
- 6:49Speaker 6: keep winning and they keep proving everybody wrong. And hey,
- 6:52Speaker 6: I got on board this year. I said that I
- 6:55Speaker 6: was going to take the over because until they don't
- 6:56Speaker 6: do it, it's kind of like the Dodgers, until someone
- 6:58Speaker 6: beats them, they're going to be number one of my
- 6:59Speaker 6: power rankings.
- 7:01Speaker 3: And for me, it was the guy who's gonna be
- 7:03Speaker 3: the guy that steps up, who's gonna be the next
- 7:06Speaker 3: Devin Williams or Josh Hater or Corman Burns or Big Woo.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Since Big Woo, you know, we need to know what
- 7:12Speaker 3: you were gonna get this year. Freddy Peralta is the misz.
- 7:15Speaker 3: That guy, Well, this is this is where one hundred
- 7:18Speaker 3: and sixty two game season. He hasn't even played a
- 7:21Speaker 3: full big league calendar season yet, but what he's doing
- 7:25Speaker 3: in May is ridiculous. What he's doing this whole year.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I think he's out pacing the field by twenty some strikeouts.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Took him out with not even eighty pitches last night,
- 7:37Speaker 3: Like I think It's something that if the Brewers have this,
- 7:42Speaker 3: have a guy like this, then he just steps in
- 7:45Speaker 3: as the next pitcher. Would you have loved to see
- 7:47Speaker 3: the Brewers with Freddy p Still?
- 7:50Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I get if Freddy PE's not having as good a
- 7:53Speaker 3: year as the miss, but what he's doing so far
- 7:56Speaker 3: is phenomenal. No extra base hits and eight plus strikeouts
- 8:01Speaker 3: in five consecutive games. I don't think anybody's done that,
- 8:05Speaker 3: and I'm not sure how long it was, but either.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Way, how that's how they win the games that they win.
- 8:11Speaker 2: How do they win well, you know, they don't strike
- 8:13Speaker 2: out too much, they hit some home runs when they
- 8:16Speaker 2: need to.
- 8:17Speaker 3: They do it by the fact that they put guys
- 8:20Speaker 3: in spots and say, you play your game, Jake Bowers,
- 8:25Speaker 3: we enjoy how you control the strike zone, control the
- 8:28Speaker 3: strike zone and hit some dingers. We're not going to
- 8:31Speaker 3: ask you to be a three hundred hitter because you can't.
- 8:34Speaker 3: And I think all of this revolves around pitching in defense,
- 8:38Speaker 3: but it also revolves around the guy that they gave
- 8:40Speaker 3: an extension to. I think in twenty nineteen, I'm not
- 8:45Speaker 3: one hundred percent sure, as Ryan Brawn's extension was running
- 8:48Speaker 3: out they extended Christian Yelich, whatever you think of him
- 8:51Speaker 3: as a player, derailed injuries, MVPs whatever. To me, you
- 8:56Speaker 3: have a guy like that that is always a constant
- 8:59Speaker 3: presence in your life locker room. It allows other guys
- 9:02Speaker 3: to come in and be who they are.
- 9:04Speaker 2: They'll never be valued, but I.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Promise they've gotten every penny out of that contract, whether
- 9:10Speaker 3: Christian Yelwich has been healthy or he's been hurt.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Some wireless plans can get a little bit crazy, a
- 9:17Speaker 1: little bit off the charts.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Expensive.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Mint Mobile can get you started with three months of
- 9:23Speaker 1: premium wireless for fifteen bucks a month is pretty.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Good like that.
- 9:29Speaker 6: The way gas prices are going up, Scott, we've got
- 9:31Speaker 6: to keep more mobile plan down and mint Mobile is

- 10:14Speaker 4: Back to miss for a moment.
- 10:15Speaker 1: As you mentioned, Yeah, he went seventy four pitches and
- 10:17Speaker 1: some people were like, I say, okay, you know he's
- 10:19Speaker 1: left with the cramping before.
- 10:20Speaker 4: It wasn't even that.
- 10:21Speaker 1: He just told Murph before the sixth that that was
- 10:25Speaker 1: going to be it.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:28Speaker 6: I mean, I'd like to see him keep going, but
- 10:29Speaker 6: he didn't have to and they won the game, so yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 6: it's fine.
- 10:32Speaker 2: He'd like to see him go deeper. Sure, age old debate.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Can he throw ninety six to ninety eight in the
- 10:41Speaker 3: first instead of one hundred and two to one hundred
- 10:43Speaker 3: and three in the first and make it to the seventh?
- 10:47Speaker 2: Can he should?
- 10:49Speaker 4: He?
- 10:49Speaker 3: Does it give him the success that he has only
- 10:52Speaker 3: only way to. It's it's age old Question's the same
- 10:55Speaker 3: thing if you take a superstar and you put him
- 10:57Speaker 3: on the bench and give him one or two starts
- 11:00Speaker 3: a week, and like three pinch hits. Is he the
- 11:02Speaker 3: same superstar numbers coming off the bench. You can't answer
- 11:08Speaker 3: that because nobody will ever test it out. Not in
- 11:11Speaker 3: this game. You'll you'll never know if Jacob Miserowski hey today,
- 11:16Speaker 3: Once you throw ninety six to ninety eight in the
- 11:18Speaker 3: first through third, unless you get a runner on, then
- 11:21Speaker 3: you start pumping it. How do you feel now in
- 11:23Speaker 3: the sixth are you able to not cramp up and
- 11:25Speaker 3: give us the seventh inning, which is super valuable come
- 11:28Speaker 3: July and August when our bullpen is not cashed.
- 11:33Speaker 1: The front office says, no, that's what we just went
- 11:36Speaker 1: over right. The front office says, we're not testing that out.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So if you give us your best six and nobody's
- 11:43Speaker 1: touching him in.
- 11:44Speaker 4: The month of May, then they'll just keep running with that.
- 11:46Speaker 6: He gives them six innings, they'll be happy with it, yes,
- 11:48Speaker 6: and go to their other bullpen options they can match
- 11:50Speaker 6: up and big play in this game. Also, is PCA
- 11:54Speaker 6: drop in the fly ball? That was see that one?
- 11:56Speaker 6: You dropped the fla ball?
- 11:58Speaker 4: PCA never drops fly by Very likely, Yes, very unlikely.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Would you say that Wrigly Fields the toughest place to
- 12:08Speaker 1: catch a fly ball in baseball?
- 12:10Speaker 4: No, No, the wind.
- 12:15Speaker 2: No, No, the rays.
- 12:19Speaker 3: The Rays is the toughest place to catch a flyball.
- 12:22Speaker 3: They have a white they have a white roof. And
- 12:25Speaker 3: the wind at Wrig is it different. Yes, it's different
- 12:28Speaker 3: because it's lower. But it's different in Kansas City where
- 12:33Speaker 3: there's not much behind the fence and they have a
- 12:36Speaker 3: hill and so it comes down across that hill. It's
- 12:38Speaker 3: not a real it's not like a regular stadium. Twins
- 12:42Speaker 3: is different because it's really small stadium and there's little
- 12:46Speaker 3: pockets where the wind can come in. I don't know
- 12:48Speaker 3: that Regly is any harder or that I've seen it
- 12:51Speaker 3: and be any harder than any other place.
- 12:55Speaker 6: Okay, Oakland, when there's Oakland back there. Yeah, the more
- 13:00Speaker 6: pop ups and fly balls dropped there than anywhere and
- 13:02Speaker 6: had nothing to.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Do with the wind.
- 13:03Speaker 4: No, they just couldn't see it.
- 13:06Speaker 6: You couldn't see it in the high sky. Yeah, I
- 13:07Speaker 6: mean springs draw spring training in Arizona and there's no clouds.
- 13:10Speaker 6: Guys drop pop ups and fly balls all the time.
- 13:12Speaker 6: They can't see him. They can't see him even in
- 13:14Speaker 6: Florida spring training when there's days it's like that. But no, Regally,
- 13:18Speaker 6: I haven't seen I've seen very few fly balls that
- 13:21Speaker 6: have just been dropped. I mean sometimes it happens. It
- 13:23Speaker 6: happens everywhere every once in a while, sure, but for me,
- 13:25Speaker 6: it was always there, it was always Oakland was the hardest.
- 13:30Speaker 3: High sky. People don't understand what high sky means. If
- 13:33Speaker 3: you don't play baseball, no clouds in the sky, A
- 13:37Speaker 3: pop up goes up and you have no perception and.
- 13:39Speaker 2: You're like, I got no idea. I think I know
- 13:43Speaker 2: where it's supposed to be.
- 13:44Speaker 3: But if you practice it, it becomes a lot, well,
- 13:47Speaker 3: it becomes easier.
- 13:49Speaker 2: But that is the toughest pop up possible.
- 13:54Speaker 1: In conclusion, how do you weigh the Cubs and the
- 13:58Speaker 1: Brewers right now? Brewers not the Cubs out in the
- 14:06Speaker 1: playoffs last year, different teams, but.
- 14:11Speaker 6: Have some some injury problem and know the Brewers have
- 14:13Speaker 6: some injuries too, But you know, losing Steel is a
- 14:15Speaker 6: big blow. Losing Horton is a big blow for the Cubs.
- 14:19Speaker 6: And Monaga was off their great Sorry got he got
- 14:21Speaker 6: beat up by the Brewers yesterday or two days ago.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 14:25Speaker 6: The Brewers just have something they have They have a
- 14:27Speaker 6: confidence that is that is like unbreaka, what is what
- 14:30Speaker 6: is undaunted. What is a half tattooed on them?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Uh?
- 14:36Speaker 6: You know, they just have something there, man, and it's
- 14:38Speaker 6: it's special. And I hope them and I know the
- 14:40Speaker 6: Milwaukee fans understand this because they come out to American
- 14:44Speaker 6: Family Field and pack it. I'm gonna be in Milwaukee
- 14:46Speaker 6: this year this weekend against the Dodgers, so it's gonna
- 14:48Speaker 6: be awesome to see that that place is gonna be rocking.
- 14:52Speaker 6: I honestly, uh uh. I've said the Cubs will win
- 14:58Speaker 6: the division at the beginning of the year. I still
- 15:00Speaker 6: think they will because I think they have a better
- 15:02Speaker 6: team on paper. But there's something about the Brewers and
- 15:05Speaker 6: the Cubs. Take away those two ten game winning streaks
- 15:08Speaker 6: they had, They've been mediocre. I mean some ten game
- 15:11Speaker 6: winning streaks that have really supported their season. So we'll see.
- 15:13Speaker 6: But I mean I picked the Cubs to win the
- 15:15Speaker 6: division at the beginning of years.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I'm gonna stick with that. But the Brewers just they
- 15:18Speaker 2: have something.
- 15:19Speaker 1: That's the crazy thing is if I'm like, hey, we're
- 15:21Speaker 1: about fifty games into the season, the Cubs have two
- 15:24Speaker 1: ten game win streaks, You'd be like, oh, they're up
- 15:26Speaker 1: eight games, right, two ten.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Game win streaks in your first fifty they're in third place.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Actually, that's freaking nuts.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Two one you'd be like, wow, what a start to
- 15:38Speaker 1: two streaks where they won twenty in a row. It
- 15:41Speaker 1: also speaks to how good the division is, or at
- 15:43Speaker 1: least how good the division looks right now.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Are things going to change?
- 15:48Speaker 1: Yes, there's almost no chance we're gonna get five teams
- 15:53Speaker 1: over five hundred. Even four teams over five hundred would
- 15:56Speaker 1: be pretty incredible.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Teams. Four teams. Have four teams from one division ever
- 16:02Speaker 2: made the playoffs? Three? Right?
- 16:04Speaker 6: I know, three from the Central made it a couple
- 16:06Speaker 6: of years ago. Three from the East has made it before.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Probably not four.
- 16:10Speaker 2: That's Phillies Braves have made it before, right.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Because you'd have to go back.
- 16:13Speaker 1: It only can be during the era where we've had
- 16:15Speaker 1: three wildcards.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 16:17Speaker 4: They're not going that far back.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 16:19Speaker 1: So my guess is now, My guess is three. Like
- 16:22Speaker 1: you said, like Theel Central. Maybe there was one other
- 16:24Speaker 1: case like an Ale East or something, but I mean
- 16:26Speaker 1: the wildcard era with three teams has only been what
- 16:29Speaker 1: since COVID one?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it's COVID. Is it around COVID when they switched it.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's not been long enough.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I guess my Homerism would be that I choose the
- 16:39Speaker 3: Brewers only because comparing the two teams, the Brewers, in
- 16:45Speaker 3: my opinion, have two guys that can go out and
- 16:49Speaker 3: carry your team and possibly win an MVP. I don't
- 16:52Speaker 3: think you do in the National League. But with Terraang
- 16:55Speaker 3: playing Platinum Globe defense and now his bad is coming
- 17:00Speaker 3: along based on from August on his powers coming along,
- 17:04Speaker 3: Jackson Curio, I think can go out when he's healthy
- 17:07Speaker 3: and do incredible things. And then you have the miz
- 17:10Speaker 3: as a possible cy young candidate. Who do the Cubs
- 17:13Speaker 3: have as far as that stopper in the rotation to
- 17:17Speaker 3: stop these eight out of twelve or eight out of
- 17:21Speaker 3: ten losses? Who do the Cubs have in their lineup
- 17:24Speaker 3: that you're like, I am so deathly afraid of night
- 17:28Speaker 3: in and night out of Saya Suzuki, And I guess
- 17:30Speaker 3: the same could be said. Maybe they're not definitely afraid
- 17:32Speaker 3: of Bryce Terraan, but I think he's taken the next
- 17:35Speaker 3: step offensively.
- 17:38Speaker 4: It's good debate.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Let us know what to think if you're watching this

- 18:21Speaker 1: more at GC dot com. We'll talk about it coming
- 18:24Speaker 1: up in a moment. Actually, this is perfect for that audience.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Our Dirt from the Dugout Show featured theo Epstein this week,
- 18:31Speaker 1: and he was going over a lot, including how players
- 18:35Speaker 1: are scouted now versus how they were scouted in the past.
- 18:39Speaker 1: This is an important figure in our sport, of course,
- 18:42Speaker 1: one of the most decorated front office members in the
- 18:45Speaker 1: sports history for what he did with the Cubs and
- 18:46Speaker 1: the Red Sox. Now he works for the league, he
- 18:49Speaker 1: might elevate within the league. Actually, no, he's with the
- 18:53Speaker 1: Socks again. Does he have any league affiliation still too?
- 18:56Speaker 1: Is he still advising? I guess probably not because he's
- 18:57Speaker 1: back with the Socks, so he was with the league
- 19:00Speaker 1: for a while. Yeah, some people think you should be
- 19:02Speaker 1: commissioner after Manford retires. But anyway, let's get to a
- 19:07Speaker 1: clip from that conversation and then we'll react to it.
- 19:11Speaker 7: Such young players chasing vlo and spin raid and exit
- 19:15Speaker 7: v low and hitting exclusively off hit tracks and stuff.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I think what's important.
- 19:19Speaker 7: There is a place for that. It is important if
- 19:22Speaker 7: you want to develop a skill, understanding the components that
- 19:26Speaker 7: go into that skill and then training for them. That's
- 19:29Speaker 7: common sense. And you know, there are a lot of advances,
- 19:33Speaker 7: and I think in general we train smarter now than
- 19:36Speaker 7: we used to. However, there's a cost associated with that too,
- 19:41Speaker 7: especially if you start at too young an age. Because
- 19:43Speaker 7: anytime you're chasing something, whether it's vilo or spin or
- 19:47Speaker 7: exit villo, when you're chasing something and so you're training
- 19:52Speaker 7: for it and you're optimizing for it, and you're teaching
- 19:57Speaker 7: your body to produce it in a certain way, you're
- 20:01Speaker 7: also ignoring a lot of other things that aren't measured
- 20:05Speaker 7: quite as precisely just yet. And so a great example
- 20:08Speaker 7: if you think back to just you know, think about
- 20:11Speaker 7: what scouting was like before the radar gun, right before
- 20:13Speaker 7: you could precisely measure velocity. When a scout would write
- 20:17Speaker 7: or report and he'd describe the pitcher's fastball, he'd write
- 20:20Speaker 7: about the velocity, he'd describe it, but he'd also he'd
- 20:24Speaker 7: balance that and he'd also write about the deception and
- 20:29Speaker 7: the command and the movement and everything else that goes
- 20:32Speaker 7: into a great fastball. And back before the raidar gun,
- 20:35Speaker 7: we probably had it in better proportion. We're a better balance,
- 20:38Speaker 7: and velocity is important, but so is command, so is deception,
- 20:42Speaker 7: so is movement. And then once technology came along and
- 20:46Speaker 7: we had the radar gun, there became an over reliance
- 20:50Speaker 7: on velocity, where now a scout could just describe the fastball. Hey,
- 20:54Speaker 7: you know he tops out at ninety three point four,
- 20:57Speaker 7: I'm going to put him ahead of this other guy
- 21:00Speaker 7: who's who's ninety three point two. And what's lost in
- 21:04Speaker 7: the conversation, what do you sort of unintentionally ignoring everything
- 21:08Speaker 7: else that makes a good fastball, the command, velocity, and
- 21:12Speaker 7: so now sort of extrapolate that to the development of
- 21:17Speaker 7: a young player, and we are training for certain outcomes
- 21:21Speaker 7: that are very precisely measured.
- 21:27Speaker 4: That's the Oepstein.
- 21:28Speaker 1: One of many good quotes from that episode of Dirt
- 21:32Speaker 1: from the dugout to our coach on the screen. If
- 21:34Speaker 1: you want to get more, Drossa was on Clemens was
- 21:37Speaker 1: on Jim Schlashnagel, Did I say his name right? Okay,
- 21:42Speaker 1: college coach for a long time, and then many others.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Manford's rumored to be on there at some point soon.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Thoughts on THEO and what he was talking about. I mean,
- 21:51Speaker 1: it's kind of the thing that works for the.
- 21:53Speaker 6: Red Sox, so I mean, aren't they kind of one
- 21:55Speaker 6: of the kings of this. I mean he's doing the
- 21:57Speaker 6: opposite of what he was just talking about. That's why
- 21:59Speaker 6: it's weird. Well that he would say.
- 22:00Speaker 4: This, but that's the follow up, right, Hey.
- 22:03Speaker 6: You work for the Red Sox, a team that is
- 22:05Speaker 6: now one of the most analytically driven teams in the world,
- 22:07Speaker 6: and just they're doing exactly what you're saying you're against
- 22:10Speaker 6: kind of, so it's it's a weird I.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Don't know, and it's not working.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I didn't say that, but it's not that.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Do you agree.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Pitching fine, sure, okay, but I'm saying overall, like they
- 22:23Speaker 1: have become probably top five to a fault in terms
- 22:26Speaker 1: of sticking to see stuff.
- 22:29Speaker 6: Is great, but you've got to have people that can
- 22:30Speaker 6: pitch in big situations. You got to have human factor,
- 22:33Speaker 6: you got to have makeup checks, you got to have
- 22:36Speaker 6: can this guy handle pitching in certain situations. That's why
- 22:39Speaker 6: certain guys can pitch in high leverage and some guys can't. Yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 6: everyone looks at the stuff and the velo and this
- 22:44Speaker 6: guy's ahead of this guy. But I mean sometimes you'd
- 22:47Speaker 6: rather take ninety four to ninety five that can pinpoint
- 22:49Speaker 6: it over ninety eight to ninety nine that walks everybody
- 22:51Speaker 6: just because he throws better. So I mean it's it's
- 22:54Speaker 6: scouts are very valuable, I'm sorry, and teams have gotten
- 22:59Speaker 6: rid of them, but they're still a valuable component. I
- 23:01Speaker 6: think the teams that work best are the teams that
- 23:03Speaker 6: have both. They have the analytics and they still have
- 23:05Speaker 6: the scouts out on the road.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I don't think the analytics doesn't tell you anything that
- 23:12Speaker 3: if you have a good eye, you can't see anyway.
- 23:15Speaker 3: There was two guys in a high school game, both
- 23:18Speaker 3: one was ninety two ninety four with a lot of
- 23:21Speaker 3: vert and a good curveball, and the other kid was
- 23:25Speaker 3: ninety four ninety six with slider, three quarter arm slot, slider,
- 23:31Speaker 3: great runner. I wouldn't say a sinker, but it was
- 23:34Speaker 3: moving both directions. Two completely different pitchers, both completely dominant
- 23:39Speaker 3: at the high school level, both going on to Division
- 23:42Speaker 3: one programs. How do you evaluate them when you go
- 23:46Speaker 3: to watch them, because you look at their analytic profile
- 23:49Speaker 3: and you say, oh, this guy's got tons of high vert,
- 23:52Speaker 3: and he's got a curveball, and he's got who throws
- 23:56Speaker 3: in his own the best, who's able to command two
- 24:00Speaker 3: rights and lefties. If you can't throw strikes to lefties,
- 24:03Speaker 3: you're gonna get cooked at the next level. Whether you're
- 24:05Speaker 3: in whether you're in high school, you're in college, you're
- 24:09Speaker 3: in TRIPLEA, there's next steps that you need to be
- 24:12Speaker 3: able to take as a pitcher. And the scouts aren't
- 24:15Speaker 3: actually getting their eyes on guys because some teams just
- 24:18Speaker 3: scout from video. They just they get video from their computer.
- 24:22Speaker 3: They get video from these games, they get analytics and
- 24:25Speaker 3: they have a split screen and they say, Okay, that's
- 24:28Speaker 3: why he was doing good Because of these numbers. To me,
- 24:32Speaker 3: I think that's where some teams miss and where some
- 24:34Speaker 3: teams have an advantage because they actually get guys that
- 24:38Speaker 3: are out there looking at them and they can say, oh,
- 24:41Speaker 3: I see this. We do this well as an organization,
- 24:44Speaker 3: and that's where you find value.
- 24:47Speaker 1: And much more on that conversation can be seen within

- 26:21Speaker 1: talk about the giants in a little bit of diamondbacks.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Is there in a series right now?
- 26:26Speaker 1: Bob Nightingale from USA Today and one of our FT
- 26:29Speaker 1: insiders put out an article, why are the Giants not
- 26:31Speaker 1: utilizing top prospect Bryce Eldridge, big lumberjack prospect who definitely
- 26:37Speaker 1: needs time at first.
- 26:38Speaker 4: Base to develop. He's not going to get much of
- 26:39Speaker 4: that right now.
- 26:40Speaker 1: He's gotten a little bit of DH and just not
- 26:42Speaker 1: a lot of playing time in general, What do you
- 26:44Speaker 1: guys think of this? I mean, he's barely playing, popping
- 26:48Speaker 1: up sometimes or popping in as a pinch hitter. Maybe
- 26:51Speaker 1: sometimes popping up. But this is supposed to be their
- 26:54Speaker 1: best hitting prospect. They call him up to try and
- 26:57Speaker 1: rescue them. They've barely given him a chance. I tell
- 27:00Speaker 1: he's very straightforward in his comments, like of why each
- 27:03Speaker 1: day they did or didn't use him, although it sounds
- 27:06Speaker 1: like some of that's front office influence. What do you
- 27:08Speaker 1: do if you're San Francisco and you can't score runs?
- 27:11Speaker 1: Don't you just let it ride for a few weeks?
- 27:14Speaker 2: You're supposed to.
- 27:15Speaker 6: That's the whole point to having this guy and having
- 27:17Speaker 6: him in the big leagues. Otherwise you send him back
- 27:18Speaker 6: to wherever their Triple A is. I don't know whether
- 27:20Speaker 6: he used to be.
- 27:21Speaker 2: It's in Sacramento, Nevermento. Yeah, he used to be in
- 27:24Speaker 2: Fresno forever. So that's why.
- 27:26Speaker 6: But Sacramento and you let him hit and every day.
- 27:29Speaker 6: If he's not you don't think he's ready, then he
- 27:30Speaker 6: shouldn't be there. And if you don't have a spot
- 27:33Speaker 6: for him, then he shouldn't be there. I mean, put
- 27:35Speaker 6: him back down and let him hit every day. But
- 27:37Speaker 6: having your number one prospects sit on the bench for
- 27:39Speaker 6: weeks at a time and not getting a play but
- 27:41Speaker 6: a few times doesn't.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Do anybody any good.
- 27:44Speaker 6: And I mean I almost feel sorry for the kid,
- 27:47Speaker 6: because if he truly as special as everyone has said,
- 27:49Speaker 6: and he has the power, let's see it. I know,
- 27:51Speaker 6: Casey Smith's been really good for him, so maybe there's
- 27:53Speaker 6: not a position for him. Maybe mix him in a
- 27:55Speaker 6: DH I don't know, but I think you got to
- 27:57Speaker 6: play the kid.
- 27:58Speaker 1: And Bob said in his article, it's like winning an
- 28:00Speaker 1: all inclusive Tahiti beach vacation for two, but your plus
- 28:05Speaker 1: one is your grandmother. Grandma's just catching strays. But he
- 28:11Speaker 1: did go over the lack of playing time, so he
- 28:13Speaker 1: put this article out, and Kratz loves that one called
- 28:17Speaker 1: up May fourth. Five starts in two weeks, one time
- 28:23Speaker 1: in the last four days, and you know the Giants
- 28:27Speaker 1: are not trying to sit in.
- 28:28Speaker 4: I guess the rule is like three in a row.
- 28:31Speaker 4: I mean, even three in a row for a.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Prospect right now who's trying to get reps in any
- 28:36Speaker 1: kind of pro baseball just seems like a lot. You know,
- 28:39Speaker 1: there's a ton of quote. It's a really good article
- 28:41Speaker 1: if you want to check it out. We're just taking
- 28:42Speaker 1: bits and pieces here, but I'm just trying to give
- 28:44Speaker 1: people an idea of like five starts in thirteen days
- 28:48Speaker 1: for the guy who's supposed to be the next big
- 28:50Speaker 1: thing there and I know you need to win now,
- 28:52Speaker 1: but it just doesn't make a ton of sense, Like,
- 28:55Speaker 1: is he going to be his best self as a
- 28:57Speaker 1: guy who's never sat like this in his life and
- 29:00Speaker 1: is hopefully if he pans out eventually going to be
- 29:02Speaker 1: an everyday player for the team. Is he going to
- 29:05Speaker 1: be his best self in this current capacity. I'll give
- 29:08Speaker 1: you one more example. So Ryan Nelson started yesterday. He's
- 29:12Speaker 1: a righty. Eldridge is a lefty slugger. You're like, oh, yeah,
- 29:15Speaker 1: he's in right. No, Nelson has reverse splits. So they
- 29:19Speaker 1: were like, nope, not putting him in that spot.
- 29:22Speaker 3: I'm like, come on, this is this is how the
- 29:31Speaker 3: game has changed. When AJ got called up to the
- 29:33Speaker 3: big leagues. Aj, how many veterans were in Triple A
- 29:35Speaker 3: with you as a quote unquote prospect when you were
- 29:39Speaker 3: in Triple A?
- 29:41Speaker 6: Oh, I mean when I first got to the Triple A.
- 29:43Speaker 6: I was twenty one, and I think the rest of
- 29:45Speaker 6: the young next youngest guy was like twenty six on
- 29:47Speaker 6: the team, and there might have been one or two
- 29:49Speaker 6: other young guys. The rest were like twenty six and above.
- 29:51Speaker 6: They're talking about kids. I'm like, what are y'all talking
- 29:53Speaker 6: about kids?
- 29:54Speaker 2: Now?
- 29:54Speaker 3: The exact opposite, You're like, You're like, why are you
- 29:57Speaker 3: guys stretching before games?
- 29:58Speaker 2: Why do you guys use the hot to up now?
- 30:00Speaker 3: It's the exact opposite and Triple A And I'm not
- 30:03Speaker 3: sure if this is a buster posey thing, if it's
- 30:07Speaker 3: just the game type of thing, but or all organizations do.
- 30:11Speaker 3: It's not just the Giants. It just sucks now because
- 30:13Speaker 3: the Giants aren't hitting. And now it's coming to light that, yeah,
- 30:17Speaker 3: they're not playing this guy. You don't call your prospects
- 30:20Speaker 3: up to fill in. You call your prospects up because
- 30:24Speaker 3: it's time to go. You have you know, I'm looking
- 30:27Speaker 3: at different guys on the Sacramento roster and there's not
- 30:30Speaker 3: a lot of there's not a lot of dudes that
- 30:32Speaker 3: are hitting the homers to call somebody up. I get that,
- 30:34Speaker 3: but every Triple A team used to have guys like myself,
- 30:40Speaker 3: you would be the guy who would be there to
- 30:43Speaker 3: kind of you play once every three days and the
- 30:47Speaker 3: bushes the other catcher plays plays majority of the time,
- 30:52Speaker 3: and when there's an injury, unless that catcher is ready
- 30:57Speaker 3: and is able to compete, and like be the guy
- 31:02Speaker 3: in the big.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Leagues, you don't call him up.
- 31:04Speaker 3: It's kind of like what we said about Dalton rushing earlier,
- 31:06Speaker 3: and it's working out for Dalton Rushing, but I think
- 31:08Speaker 3: it's in the long run it's not as good for
- 31:12Speaker 3: the player as teams would think. Oh, it's okay, it's
- 31:16Speaker 3: totally fine. Bryce Eldrick can come up right now and
- 31:18Speaker 3: he can see him a bench. Teams are afraid of
- 31:21Speaker 3: us pinch hitting him. They're not, I promise they're not.
- 31:25Speaker 3: And one of his starts he just got was against Show. Hey,
- 31:27Speaker 3: who's the best pitcher on the planet right now, and
- 31:30Speaker 3: they're still strikes out. He's struck out three times against
- 31:34Speaker 3: Tommy Like, it's not fair, he's never done it. It's
- 31:38Speaker 3: hard enough. We just had Franny on. Franny used to
- 31:41Speaker 3: pinch hit a Ton at the end of his career,
- 31:43Speaker 3: Like you learn to do that at the end of
- 31:46Speaker 3: your career. You don't pinch hit as a prospect coming
- 31:49Speaker 3: up in the big leagues.
- 31:51Speaker 2: That sucks.
- 31:53Speaker 3: That is really hard to do, and I think they're
- 31:55Speaker 3: putting him in a spot to fail. But to me,
- 31:58Speaker 3: it's how you created your deah. What does that depth
- 32:01Speaker 3: look like. Find a dude that had twenty homers that
- 32:04Speaker 3: plays first base and it's fine, DH and and triple A.
- 32:08Speaker 3: So that when you need somebody to fill in to
- 32:10Speaker 3: sit on the bench in the big leagues, you have
- 32:13Speaker 3: that guy, you have him. I think the Giants had
- 32:15Speaker 3: Wilmer Flores last year like he did pretty decent. But
- 32:19Speaker 3: to me, if you call Bryce Eldered up, he plays
- 32:22Speaker 3: bar none, you have to find him at batch or
- 32:24Speaker 3: you leave him in triple A.
- 32:25Speaker 4: He's four for twenty eight.
- 32:26Speaker 1: It's a small sample size, but it's not like you
- 32:29Speaker 1: call him up three day.
- 32:30Speaker 6: What he can't sit for more than three days in
- 32:32Speaker 6: a row? Yeah, So why are we even having that.
- 32:36Speaker 6: He shouldn't sit for more than one day in a row?
- 32:38Speaker 6: And ab if he's facing Trek's Schoogl Chris Sale any righty,
- 32:42Speaker 6: that's on the field.
- 32:43Speaker 2: He should be on the field.
- 32:45Speaker 1: So Tony Baye Teller said quote I don't think we've
- 32:48Speaker 1: come up with the Jordan rules or anything like that,
- 32:50Speaker 1: but I think that the he was referring to the
- 32:52Speaker 1: three day rule in a row is a decent baseline.
- 32:55Speaker 1: He said, I worked with a guy a long, long
- 32:56Speaker 1: time ago, and he said, if you go three plus
- 32:58Speaker 1: days without using a skill, that's skill is going to
- 33:01Speaker 1: go backwards. Aldrich is quoted in here quite a bit
- 33:04Speaker 1: too and being like.
- 33:05Speaker 2: What's he going to say? He can't say anything.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Guess what the thing he said they asked him.
- 33:10Speaker 1: The initial quote in here is I guess I'm surprised,
- 33:14Speaker 1: but it's not my decision.
- 33:15Speaker 4: It is what it is.
- 33:15Speaker 1: You can argue every day that playing every day would
- 33:17Speaker 1: be helpful, but I'm happy to be here. Later says like,
- 33:20Speaker 1: obviously it's different. Want to earn my ships, blah blah blah.
- 33:23Speaker 1: But to me, that's the nicest way.
- 33:26Speaker 6: He has to say that. What's he going to say,
- 33:28Speaker 6: I'm not happy I want to play. Yeah, then they'll
- 33:31Speaker 6: do the same. I mean, then they'll be like, oh, look,
- 33:32Speaker 6: how I'm grateful is he's in the big leagues. He
- 33:35Speaker 6: should be happy. No, he should be playing. They suck the.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Giants Tirket the Giants, Tirket.
- 33:40Speaker 6: If the Giants are in first place and you were like, oh,
- 33:43Speaker 6: look how good the Giants are doing, they're not good.
- 33:45Speaker 2: So play the young.
- 33:46Speaker 6: If this is the guy you're counting on, and we've
- 33:47Speaker 6: heard about Bryce Soldert for years now about how good
- 33:50Speaker 6: he's supposed to be. But if you don't believe, then
- 33:53Speaker 6: trade them. Maybe you can get some buster likes to
- 33:55Speaker 6: make trades, trade them, but they don't want to do
- 33:57Speaker 6: that because he might turn into something.
- 33:58Speaker 2: But if they don't believe them, theyn't. It sucks. It
- 34:01Speaker 2: sucks with the kid more than anything.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and here's the thought, like you might sacrifice some defense.
- 34:06Speaker 1: But that's my point is like, if you go to
- 34:12Speaker 1: Fangrass right now, AJ, let me just lay out what
- 34:14Speaker 1: they have Jung Hu Lee, then Luisa Rayes, then Casey Schmidt.
- 34:18Speaker 1: They have them in left field right then you've got
- 34:21Speaker 1: Devors at first, the Domins at short and Devors and Eldridge.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Can I'm flip right, you can do some Eldridge days
- 34:27Speaker 1: at first Chapman obviously, and the doms are going to
- 34:30Speaker 1: be on the left side of the infield. Your catchers
- 34:32Speaker 1: are Sue Sack and Rodriguez who we've talked about a
- 34:35Speaker 1: lot since they made that trade. And then Vader's out
- 34:38Speaker 1: there in center field. Okay, the bench is arikas the
- 34:43Speaker 1: other catcher Will like plus the other catcher plus Will
- 34:46Speaker 1: Brennan plus Drew Gilbert. Like I went through here, I
- 34:50Speaker 1: was like, oh, is this going to be difficult. It's
- 34:52Speaker 1: it's actually not that difficult. Why because Casey Schmidt you
- 34:58Speaker 1: go on in the outfield, Like, what's what's the p.
- 35:01Speaker 2: We have devs who has to date right or first? Yeah? Right?
- 35:06Speaker 2: Especially there's a righty. Let them know.
- 35:08Speaker 6: Casey spits off to a good star. But stick Casey
- 35:10Speaker 6: Schmidt in the outfield. Can't be any worse. They Eric
- 35:15Speaker 6: Haass is a catcher and he played left. He had
- 35:17Speaker 6: two dingers off, Like you need offense. If Bryce Eldrid
- 35:21Speaker 6: is your offensive choice to come up from triple A,
- 35:26Speaker 6: he has to play stop with the left on left.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I get it.
- 35:29Speaker 3: What what AJ said, you face a terror school, You're
- 35:32Speaker 3: facing Garrick Oche Okay.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Okay, I get it. I get it's fine, but stop.
- 35:38Speaker 4: He didn't even give him left on right. Kratz forget
- 35:41Speaker 4: left on left.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I get it.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Didn't even get get him left on right, So like yesterday,
- 35:45Speaker 1: the lineup okay, So they lost five three devastating loss.
- 35:47Speaker 1: They were up a couple runs in the ninth and eventually,
- 35:51Speaker 1: to tell Marte, with a three run Jack Diamondbacks win.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Their offense is starting to click, but on their side.
- 35:56Speaker 1: For San Francisco, Bator leadoff, center field, rise second base.
- 36:00Speaker 1: This is where they had Casey Schmidt at DH, Devers
- 36:03Speaker 1: at first A, Dominson Chapman, Drew Gilbert and left Susid
- 36:06Speaker 1: catcher Will Brennan and right. Guys, you couldn't put Bryce
- 36:10Speaker 1: Eldridge in the lineup in yesterday's game. Really, I can
- 36:14Speaker 1: find a couple spots to make that work.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Could you?
- 36:17Speaker 2: Can he not play the outfield? Is he not athletic
- 36:19Speaker 2: enough to play the outfield?
- 36:20Speaker 4: But Schmidt was daching put him in the outfield and either.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Way, but help, I mean, if you need outfield help
- 36:26Speaker 2: put him and try him in the outfield. Why not? Opinion?
- 36:29Speaker 3: The Giants can't have both. He either is the number
- 36:34Speaker 3: one prospect and he's gonna be this guy who's gonna
- 36:36Speaker 3: possibly Susan Slusher's talked about it so many times. Splash
- 36:40Speaker 3: hit Territory oh twenty five thirty home runs even in
- 36:43Speaker 3: this ballpark, or he's not that guy and you're gonna
- 36:47Speaker 3: play him off the bench and you're just not gonna
- 36:49Speaker 3: get that much value out of him. He can't be both,
- 36:52Speaker 3: he can't be the number one prospect, and then you
- 36:54Speaker 3: say and then you do what they're doing to him
- 36:57Speaker 3: right now.
- 36:57Speaker 2: In my opinion, they're.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Acting like they're Dodgers, where it's like, O, well we
- 37:01Speaker 1: have show, hey, Freddie. Outfield's pretty jammed up, like this
- 37:04Speaker 1: is the Giants. They can't score runs. They brought him
- 37:07Speaker 1: up because they need an offensive boost.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Give him a little bit of time. He's got twenty
- 37:12Speaker 4: eight at bats in two and a half weeks.
- 37:15Speaker 3: My question is who's making this choice. That's my question
- 37:18Speaker 3: because if it's a if it's truly a Tony Vattello thing,
- 37:21Speaker 3: because I know for a fact Posey hated it when
- 37:25Speaker 3: the front office sent sent ideas down to Boach and Boach.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Was like, whatever, I don't want to hear that.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Like so I have a hard time believing it's being
- 37:35Speaker 3: sent out there. So to me, then if my theory
- 37:38Speaker 3: is Tony Voytello's doing this, does he know how to
- 37:43Speaker 3: necessarily implement a young guy into the big leagues and
- 37:47Speaker 3: have success or is it going back to his previous employer. Well,
- 37:52Speaker 3: we got some freshmen here, but they're not quite ready.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Like my Casey Schmidt is ready. Who's been up here
- 37:58Speaker 3: the whole time, and he's a senior on this team. Like,
- 38:01Speaker 3: is there some of that? I might be being too harsh,
- 38:04Speaker 3: but who's making the decisions? We can't just be like, oh,
- 38:07Speaker 3: it's probably front office making the decisions, or it's probably Tony.
- 38:10Speaker 2: V whatever it is. I have.
- 38:13Speaker 3: You know, I think there's some questions that need to
- 38:15Speaker 3: be asked there.
- 38:16Speaker 4: That's fair.
- 38:17Speaker 1: And here's what would happen if you're you know, like
- 38:19Speaker 1: I've been in Club Hoss a million times and if
- 38:21Speaker 1: this was the story of the day, we'd ask the question,
- 38:24Speaker 1: who's making this call? Guarantee you the answer from every
- 38:26Speaker 1: organization is the whole organization makes the decisions together on
- 38:30Speaker 1: you know, how much he's going to play blah blah blah.
- 38:31Speaker 4: Okay, well then I'm blaming all of them. I'm blaming
- 38:34Speaker 4: the org right, But this has.
- 38:36Speaker 6: To be a Buster thing because it was Tony Vitelo
- 38:38Speaker 6: and Buster wanted to play. He go down and tell
- 38:39Speaker 6: me he has to play. Sorry, this is this is
- 38:43Speaker 6: a Buster thing.
- 38:44Speaker 2: It has to be.
- 38:45Speaker 6: There's no other way to put There's no other way
- 38:46Speaker 6: to look at it. Because if this was Tony Vitello
- 38:48Speaker 6: and Buster wanted him to play, Buster would be like, Tony,
- 38:50Speaker 6: you need to play Bryce Silver and if he said no,
- 38:52Speaker 6: then don't and then Buss would be like, you need
- 38:54Speaker 6: to play him.
- 38:57Speaker 4: It's his call, it's Buster's call.
- 38:59Speaker 2: It has to be.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Could be the other way. I think it could be
- 39:01Speaker 3: the other way. As much as I know, Buster did
- 39:03Speaker 3: not like that the GMS had their had their finger
- 39:08Speaker 3: in the game and didn't let the manager. Buster hired
- 39:12Speaker 3: this guy for a reason. He didn't hire him to
- 39:15Speaker 3: to keep him like a puppet like other organizations do.
- 39:18Speaker 3: So maybe he's like, this is your team, go play them.
- 39:23Speaker 3: I don't send him down. That doesn't make sense.
- 39:25Speaker 6: There's I mean, Tony Vaitello, that makes zero sense, because
- 39:29Speaker 6: what then if I'm bustered, then I'm like, okay, fine,
- 39:31Speaker 6: you're not gonna pla him. I'm gonna send him back
- 39:33Speaker 6: down a triple A where you can get a bat.
- 39:34Speaker 6: He's doing me no good sitting on the bench in
- 39:36Speaker 6: San Francisco. So that that's why that's that theory doesn't
- 39:39Speaker 6: make sense to me.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 39:43Speaker 1: The other problem was, this is the story he hit
- 39:45Speaker 1: on Monday one or two hits or had some good
- 39:48Speaker 1: AB's whatever.
- 39:48Speaker 4: I mean. I wasn't watching their Monday game two hits.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Yeh, Tuesday's lineup was made ahead of time, regardless of
- 39:56Speaker 1: results from Monday. That's not uncommon in today's game. But
- 40:00Speaker 1: that they were like, this is what the matchup looks like.
- 40:02Speaker 1: So they're playing that game like, we don't believe in
- 40:05Speaker 1: what we saw the day before.
- 40:06Speaker 4: This is the plan and we're going to.
- 40:09Speaker 2: And you can't tell me that.
- 40:11Speaker 6: You cannot not because Tony Vartelo came from college and
- 40:14Speaker 6: he had logan Gilbert, and if Logan Gilbert was.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Which is gonna play every day?
- 40:18Speaker 6: And he went four for four the night before, Guess
- 40:20Speaker 6: who's Drew Gilbert right right? And if he goes into
- 40:22Speaker 6: the he goes into the next that day and he
- 40:25Speaker 6: goes four for four, guess what he's playing the next day?
- 40:28Speaker 4: Hell yeah.
- 40:28Speaker 2: So that is not a Tony Vitello thing.
- 40:30Speaker 6: That is an organizational buster Posey whoever else is in
- 40:33Speaker 6: the front office thing.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Zackmination is the GM with him.
- 40:36Speaker 6: That's that's not a that's not a Tony because Tony
- 40:39Speaker 6: Bartello he wants to try to win every game he can.
- 40:42Speaker 6: I mean, he had a meeting two games in of
- 40:43Speaker 6: the year and blew up on his team. No, he
- 40:46Speaker 6: wants to try to win because he also wants to
- 40:48Speaker 6: prove that he could do the job. So he's gonna
- 40:50Speaker 6: try everything if he doesn't.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Guy, it's hot. I'm playing the hot dude.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Sometimes people overdo it with teams that aren't playing well. Right,
- 40:56Speaker 1: Like we went over how Mets fans were going crazy,
- 40:58Speaker 1: figure like going over every single move men be made
- 41:01Speaker 1: and it was too much, like it didn't make sense
- 41:03Speaker 1: half the time when people were criticizing moves online. This one,
- 41:06Speaker 1: like is pretty obvious where you're like, what are we doing?
- 41:08Speaker 1: It's your best prospect and he's just riding the pine
- 41:11Speaker 1: for a bottom three offense. It just doesn't make sense.
- 41:15Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like the right plan is in place.
- 41:18Speaker 1: And I know I have no place being the one
- 41:20Speaker 1: to say that, but there's articles you guys agree.
- 41:23Speaker 4: So we'll see what happens, to see what they do
- 41:25Speaker 4: over the next few days.
- 41:26Speaker 3: It's hard for me because it's different than what I
- 41:28Speaker 3: saw success looking like for prospects coming up and transitioning
- 41:33Speaker 3: to the big leagues.
- 41:35Speaker 4: Yep, to be continued.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Let's see what the playing time looks like over the
- 41:39Speaker 1: next couple of weeks. All right, a few things that
- 41:53Speaker 1: we didn't get to. Let's start with the race, which
- 41:58Speaker 1: is kind of the theme of our day. You want
- 42:02Speaker 1: to say we're a little get off my lawn and
- 42:04Speaker 1: old school. Okay, But Kyle Bradish, who is a current
- 42:08Speaker 1: pitcher in the big leagues and quite a good one
- 42:11Speaker 1: on the Orioles, talking about the Rays who beat them
- 42:13Speaker 1: again yesterday, said quote, they're patient, they make you come
- 42:16Speaker 1: in the zone, and unlike a lot of teams, they're
- 42:18Speaker 1: fine taking a single the other way. They're not all
- 42:20Speaker 1: trying to do damage. But when you leave a pitch
- 42:22Speaker 1: in the middle of the plate, they're on it. So
- 42:23Speaker 1: they do damage on the pitches they're supposed to do.
- 42:25Speaker 1: But that's the key right there. Is Hey, some pitchers
- 42:29Speaker 1: are used to guys that aren't going to take a
- 42:31Speaker 1: pitch and go the other way because they get punished
- 42:34Speaker 1: for it. They're not pulling play balls, right, It's like,
- 42:38Speaker 1: what are the razor? Wow, isn't this brilliant aja what
- 42:42Speaker 1: they're doing. What a brilliant strategy.
- 42:44Speaker 6: This is what all teams try to find is yeah,
- 42:46Speaker 6: you know, contact and power the teams usually win, but
- 42:50Speaker 6: they put the ball in play, they have a great approach,
- 42:52Speaker 6: and then they have some dudes that can do damage.
- 42:53Speaker 6: They have they have Simp, they have Chandler Simpson, and
- 42:56Speaker 6: they have some other guys that can get on base
- 42:58Speaker 6: and cause havoc. And then you have Yon and some
- 43:01Speaker 6: of the other guys Junior Cam and Aaro in the
- 43:03Speaker 6: middle that can do damage. And they have a really
- 43:05Speaker 6: good pitching staff. So this, I mean, Rondo has been great.
- 43:07Speaker 6: Yondi's been really good. Kevin Arroo obviously hits bombs, but
- 43:11Speaker 6: I mean, yes, they're a complete team. And I think
- 43:13Speaker 6: because their pitching has been better, that's kind of what's
- 43:16Speaker 6: made it stand out.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Plus they're in first.
- 43:18Speaker 6: Place in the Al East, ahead of the Yankees, and
- 43:20Speaker 6: anytime that happens, people are going to open their eyes.
- 43:24Speaker 1: The Blue Jays did a lot of this last year
- 43:26Speaker 1: with their offense, contact and slug John Schneider said after
- 43:29Speaker 1: last night's lost for the Jays because they've lost a
- 43:31Speaker 1: couple in row to the Yanks and close games, Hey,
- 43:33Speaker 1: if we're not going to be stringing hits together, then
- 43:35Speaker 1: we need to slug. You're kind of getting not enough
- 43:38Speaker 1: of either of those categories right now. Next up, former
- 43:43Speaker 1: aer Kratz teammate, right Garrett Cole.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Did you play with Cole?
- 43:47Speaker 2: Or yeah?
- 43:49Speaker 1: And now he's coming back there you go, what do
- 43:51Speaker 1: you think Friday night against the race shocker.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Who said people were like, oh it might be June,
- 43:59Speaker 3: might be July shocker. Of course he's coming back. He
- 44:02Speaker 3: was sick of being in the minor leagues. He doesn't
- 44:04Speaker 3: want to be down there. You heard it when he
- 44:06Speaker 3: was in spring training. He's like, I'm actually surprised how
- 44:08Speaker 3: the ball's coming out. I was really pleased about that.
- 44:12Speaker 3: The biggest thing, the check that box that he needed
- 44:15Speaker 3: to check is how does he bounce back? How does
- 44:18Speaker 3: he how does he you know, not go through what?
- 44:23Speaker 3: Aj Perzinski has talked to plenty of pitchers and Shane
- 44:26Speaker 3: Bieber came on and talked about it. How does he
- 44:29Speaker 3: not go through that? Tina wants to win a World Series?
- 44:32Speaker 3: Can they have a guy like Garrett Cole who wants
- 44:36Speaker 3: every other start or like to one of every three starts.
- 44:41Speaker 3: You just don't feel the same in your first year
- 44:44Speaker 3: back from Tommy John Or is Garrett Cole going to
- 44:46Speaker 3: be a machine and he's just gonna go wow and
- 44:50Speaker 3: sore to the finish line and win a World Series
- 44:52Speaker 3: of the Yankees?
- 44:53Speaker 1: Also, how many starts do you have to make in
- 44:56Speaker 1: the minor leagues to feel good? I know it depends
- 44:59Speaker 1: on the injury cover And he hasn't pitched in October
- 45:01Speaker 1: of twenty four in a big league game.
- 45:02Speaker 4: But he's ready. He's good.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Let's do this. Let's see what it looks like. Unfortunately,
- 45:09Speaker 1: no Lanceman colors for some time.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Here.
- 45:12Speaker 1: He's got a shoulder issue now popping up right, shoulder inflammation.
- 45:16Speaker 1: The Asters had to scratch him and put him on
- 45:18Speaker 1: the eel.
- 45:19Speaker 4: I mean, just about their entire rotation is hurt.
- 45:23Speaker 1: You can say this is a part where I think
- 45:25Speaker 1: it's unfair, like, Oh, the Ashers didn't build enough depth
- 45:28Speaker 1: with their pitching staff, but they are down. They're almost
- 45:32Speaker 1: their whole pitching staff. The Braves had this last year
- 45:34Speaker 1: and how did that go? Startersay, they're missing everyone.
- 45:42Speaker 3: This is kind of what he had said. Why he
- 45:44Speaker 3: said what he said? He wanted that nine hundredth strikeout
- 45:47Speaker 3: in his career. He's like, you're never guaranteed tomorrow. So
- 45:51Speaker 3: it's a different outlook and a Spata even said it,
- 45:54Speaker 3: or he alluded to it that he's been dealing with
- 45:56Speaker 3: it all year.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get to the Don Kelly quote. We're just
- 46:02Speaker 1: speeding through the last couple of things we didn't get
- 46:04Speaker 1: to from earlier in the show. I thought this was
- 46:08Speaker 1: pretty telling. Do you like when a manager says it
- 46:11Speaker 1: like this? So Herrera hit the big walk off blast
- 46:14Speaker 1: for the Cardinals yesterday. Pirates are starting to slip a
- 46:18Speaker 1: little bit around the same time when they usually do,
- 46:21Speaker 1: and the bullpen's part of the problem. Pirates skipper Don
- 46:25Speaker 1: Kelly said, quote, it's something we continue to talk about,
- 46:27Speaker 1: continue to beat up and like we've talked about too,
- 46:30Speaker 1: is there's opportunity. There's going to be opportunity for guys,
- 46:32Speaker 1: guys that are currently on the team externally as well,
- 46:36Speaker 1: just looking for guys to step up and claim that opportunity.
- 46:39Speaker 4: That's a call out, isn't it.
- 46:41Speaker 2: That's true. That's the truth. Yeah, he spoke the truth.
- 46:46Speaker 6: There's an opportunity for guys, whether they're here or now
- 46:48Speaker 6: or not here now, to claim what they want to
- 46:51Speaker 6: claim and be bullpen guys, and that's what we're looking for.
- 46:53Speaker 6: You just spoke the truth for me, that's the truth.
- 46:55Speaker 6: And if the truth hurts, then play that.
- 46:59Speaker 2: You ain't. You ain't. You ain't worth your salt in
- 47:01Speaker 2: the big leagues.
- 47:01Speaker 3: If the truth hurts, sorry, that's like, oh it's okay,
- 47:06Speaker 3: we'll just work harder at it.
- 47:08Speaker 2: And you're gonna stay in the big leagues. Nope.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Next guy, So to me, I would be deuced if
- 47:15Speaker 3: I if I was on the team, and I was
- 47:17Speaker 3: and I was a guy that wasn't you know, thought
- 47:19Speaker 3: of very highly in that bullpen. Put me in you
- 47:22Speaker 3: know what, Put me in tomorrow too, because I'm gonna
- 47:25Speaker 3: go out there and I'm gonna give you what I got.
- 47:27Speaker 3: It's your shot to solidify a spot on a big
- 47:29Speaker 3: league team that wants to make the playoffs. Will they
- 47:31Speaker 3: well they are not, who knows, but they want.
- 47:34Speaker 2: To make the playoffs. And those are the kind of
- 47:35Speaker 2: environments you want to be around, no doubt. Next up.
- 47:40Speaker 1: I mentioned this the other day, but we'll give it
- 47:42Speaker 1: some more love. You can grade out poorly for a
- 47:47Speaker 1: long time and things can change.
- 47:50Speaker 4: This is a good debate.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Ron Washington pregame doing the drills that he's been doing
- 47:56Speaker 1: with players for years. And I'm not saying this is
- 47:58Speaker 1: the only reason why luis better. This is just good
- 48:01Speaker 1: video for us the show, since MLB doesn't let us
- 48:03Speaker 1: show a lot of other video. But he has gotten
- 48:07Speaker 1: significantly better eye test and metrics. Like Luisa Rise rated
- 48:11Speaker 1: poorly defensively wherever he was for a second whatever now,
- 48:16Speaker 1: I mean on stat cast, his range factor outs above
- 48:20Speaker 1: average is plus eight. That's ninety nine percentile on range
- 48:25Speaker 1: for Luisa Rise. That's an insane turnaround.
- 48:29Speaker 6: Oh he also made a comment that he wanted to
- 48:31Speaker 6: do this and he wanted to focus on his defense
- 48:33Speaker 6: because I'm sure he heard about it in free agency
- 48:35Speaker 6: and now he's working on it and he's busting his
- 48:37Speaker 6: tail and he's getting the results.
- 48:38Speaker 2: That's awesome. And he still can't hit. So I don't know.
- 48:40Speaker 2: I always thought her release Rise was a valued player.
- 48:42Speaker 2: He's also probably playing.
- 48:43Speaker 6: Out a position at first base, but in San Diego
- 48:47Speaker 6: they had a second basement. So good for you, Luisa Rise.
- 48:49Speaker 6: I hope you get paid this offseason.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I think he's got cool. I think he's got another year. Yet.
- 48:55Speaker 2: I think I thought it was a two year deal
- 48:57Speaker 2: right that he's signed with the Giants.
- 49:00Speaker 3: But anyway, some people will say and argue that, oh, well,
- 49:04Speaker 3: those drills that they're doing right there are eyewash. It's
- 49:08Speaker 3: a prime example of somebody that was seen by the
- 49:10Speaker 3: league as a poor defender, rightly so or not seen
- 49:15Speaker 3: by the league. Those drills have helped him. Whatever those
- 49:20Speaker 3: drills are. People are like, oh, you know, what does
- 49:22Speaker 3: he need to hit the ball from that close? You
- 49:25Speaker 3: know the things he's working on. He's trying to cash
- 49:27Speaker 3: the ball out front, he's trying to get that other hand.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Everything's out in front, the head behind it. Whether it's
- 49:33Speaker 3: hit to his forehand what you're doing now, or it
- 49:35Speaker 3: was hit rapped the middle like they did before, or
- 49:37Speaker 3: they're going to go to his backhand, all out in front.
- 49:40Speaker 3: He's not trying to trick him. He's not getting worn
- 49:43Speaker 3: out or anything like that. Now he switches the backhand
- 49:45Speaker 3: like it's it's the basic things. And Ron Washington's got
- 49:48Speaker 3: the eye to help a guy improve that wants to improve.
- 49:52Speaker 2: And you see it.
- 49:52Speaker 3: You see it in the stackcast analytics, whatever you want
- 49:55Speaker 3: to see it.
- 49:56Speaker 2: He's putting up those numbers one year.
- 49:59Speaker 1: So yeah, he'll hit free again one year twelve minutes.
- 50:01Speaker 1: He was weighing one year in multi year offers, but
- 50:03Speaker 1: he went with the one year deal.
- 50:06Speaker 4: All right, last licks.
- 50:08Speaker 2: H Did y'all see the White Sox Mariners game last night?
- 50:12Speaker 4: On parts of it?
- 50:13Speaker 6: So Bryce Miller throwse like six no hit innings or whatever.
- 50:16Speaker 6: It gives up a hit, they take him out, and
- 50:18Speaker 6: they had a piggy pack. They brought in a lefty
- 50:19Speaker 6: to get out of the inning, and then they bring
- 50:22Speaker 6: in Louis Castillo to piggyback to try to figure him out.
- 50:25Speaker 6: And then instead of starting the ninth with the one
- 50:27Speaker 6: nothing lead and Andres Munios, they let Castillo go out,
- 50:30Speaker 6: gives up to two hitters on base, and attend he
- 50:33Speaker 6: gets a hit.
- 50:33Speaker 2: They lose two to one. Where we hung up, Mariners.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Listen, I'm happy the White Sox won, but you have
- 50:40Speaker 6: one of the best closers in baseball, Louis Castillo.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Sorry, Andre's Munas.
- 50:44Speaker 6: You get a clean knife to come in and pitch
- 50:46Speaker 6: that not you're not coming in with dirty inning.
- 50:49Speaker 4: Did you watch the playoffs last year?
- 50:51Speaker 2: I did, but I don't care like you're not.
- 50:53Speaker 4: I don't remember the Munos situation.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember. Yeah, so.
- 50:58Speaker 4: This is PTSD for man.
- 51:00Speaker 6: I know, I did a mayor. I did Maria's radio
- 51:02Speaker 6: this morning. They were going off about it.
- 51:03Speaker 4: I'm like, what were they saying same.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Like what are we doing? Like I get the piggyback,
- 51:07Speaker 2: but you have to win the game.
- 51:08Speaker 6: It's one nothing like this is wherever your front office
- 51:11Speaker 6: and every team has a plan, but at the end
- 51:13Speaker 6: of the day, you're trying to win the game. Like
- 51:14Speaker 6: the plan is the plan until you got to win
- 51:16Speaker 6: the game.
- 51:16Speaker 4: So Castillo did what seventh and eight?
- 51:19Speaker 6: It's seventh and eighth and they wanted to be going
- 51:20Speaker 6: to the ninth and instead of having Munyos with a
- 51:23Speaker 6: one nothing lead, he gave up two runners.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Munyos came in, came in, gave up a hit to
- 51:27Speaker 2: Ben Attendi. They lose two to one.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Yeah, so didn't even get out of the infield, like
- 51:31Speaker 3: you got it.
- 51:33Speaker 2: I don't know what what what do you think?
- 51:34Speaker 3: My question in that whole situation, were they saying Luis
- 51:38Speaker 3: Castillo is going to get a save and he's going
- 51:40Speaker 3: to finish his game out like that was the plan
- 51:43Speaker 3: going in?
- 51:44Speaker 2: Like Munyos was overused. What what do you think the.
- 51:48Speaker 6: Plan was the plan was to have caster you try
- 51:51Speaker 6: to finish the game. I don't know, but Munos had
- 51:53Speaker 6: pitched the day before, so they were saying he was
- 51:55Speaker 6: overworked one day.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Yeah, so the game lode for him. Wait, this is
- 52:00Speaker 4: going to be I know he pitched the day before.
- 52:02Speaker 4: I know, but this is going to make you mad,
- 52:04Speaker 4: and I'll try to find that.
- 52:05Speaker 2: It actually made me happy because the white talked one.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Right, right, So he pitched the day before, eleven pitches
- 52:12Speaker 1: last night, ten pitches the night before before that.
- 52:15Speaker 4: His last game pitch.
- 52:17Speaker 1: His last appearance was on the thirteenth of May, last Wednesday, so.
- 52:23Speaker 2: It was almost it was win almost a week and
- 52:24Speaker 2: it's almost a week.
- 52:25Speaker 4: Then pitches one. You can't go back to back.
- 52:28Speaker 2: Well that's what.
- 52:29Speaker 6: But I just know this as I always watch baseball
- 52:32Speaker 6: my closer. I want my closer to have a clean
- 52:33Speaker 6: inning when he comes in, unless he's going for a
- 52:35Speaker 6: multi inning save, like a four or five outsat but
- 52:38Speaker 6: other than that, I want him to come out and
- 52:40Speaker 6: start the night and get the intro and do all
- 52:42Speaker 6: that with nobody on base instead of having to come
- 52:44Speaker 6: in and try to clean up someone else's crap.
- 52:46Speaker 1: Also, Castillo has been terribly, really bad. Ye give him
- 52:50Speaker 1: those two nice innings and boom and then if you
- 52:52Speaker 1: lose on your closer with Ninos. Oh well, no one's
- 52:55Speaker 1: criticizing that, right.
- 52:56Speaker 3: I agree they wanted they wanted him to get three in. Hey,
- 53:00Speaker 3: we're gonna piggyback you, Bryce Miller. Sorry, he dominated, We'll
- 53:05Speaker 3: get you your three.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's working lately for a team like Milwaukee. They've
- 53:10Speaker 1: done it a few times lately where it's one then
- 53:12Speaker 1: they go right to the other. Different scenario here, guys, crazy,
- 53:17Speaker 1: do you have one more thing?
- 53:19Speaker 6: I did, but apparently we playing the music and I
- 53:21Speaker 6: had it yesterday but we didn't.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Get pulled up?
- 53:23Speaker 4: Can we cut the music? There?
- 53:26Speaker 2: You go?
- 53:26Speaker 6: I mean, I want to give a shout out to
- 53:28Speaker 6: the Rays, Elvis and the front office staff there. My
- 53:30Speaker 6: son is there in Clearwater for their conference tournament and
- 53:35Speaker 6: they went to the Rays game last night and Elvis
- 53:37Speaker 6: and the Race hooked them up and got them on the.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Field for BP and let him watch VP.
- 53:41Speaker 6: Even though the teams didn't really hit, but they got
- 53:42Speaker 6: to go on the field and all that before the game.
- 53:44Speaker 2: So thank you Elvis and the Rays.
- 53:46Speaker 6: Also a huge shout out to Pete Alonzo, who I
- 53:48Speaker 6: text and asked him to go out and meet him.
- 53:50Speaker 6: He didn't because he didn't hit on the field, but
- 53:52Speaker 6: he did text me and say, hey, sorry I didn't
- 53:54Speaker 6: get to meet the team.
- 53:55Speaker 2: But that was cool. And then today you know what happened.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Good karma hit.
- 53:58Speaker 4: Home Pete omer So it was nice.
- 54:02Speaker 6: It was nice of the Rays and nice of Pete
- 54:04Speaker 6: Uh to go out there and he tried to see him,
- 54:06Speaker 6: but he just he's like, sorry, I was wasn't out
- 54:08Speaker 6: there because we didn't hit.
- 54:10Speaker 1: So and good luck to Austin. He's in the tournament.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Play tomorrow, right, play tomorrow?
- 54:16Speaker 2: Yeah? Are you like?
- 54:17Speaker 4: How are you? Do you get nervous for those that
- 54:19Speaker 4: are just excited or just.
- 54:21Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not nervous. It's more of like just
- 54:22Speaker 2: an anxious He.
- 54:24Speaker 4: Just wanted to happen.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Because there's nothing I can do, so you just want
- 54:27Speaker 2: them to do well.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Good luck to you a b in the I always
- 54:34Speaker 1: get confused with the conference names American.
- 54:36Speaker 6: An American with the East Carolina Rice. Yep, it's a
- 54:41Speaker 6: good baseball conference. It's really good.
- 54:43Speaker 2: It is State F, a U USF.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Watch it somewhere on TV probably plus, yes, p plus.
- 54:50Speaker 3: So I won't be I won't be on because we
- 54:52Speaker 3: have our district final tomorrow and then I'm going to
- 54:56Speaker 3: I'm going to my son's super regional out Ohio Massiah
- 55:01Speaker 3: University taking on Baldwin Wallace.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Good luck, good luck to both sons, and I guess
- 55:07Speaker 1: I'll find new friends to do shows with.
- 55:12Speaker 2: Are you on tomorrow? I'm not here. I'm on the road,
- 55:15Speaker 2: all right.
- 55:15Speaker 1: We got Kevin Pillar tomorrow, and rumor is Trevor May
- 55:19Speaker 1: returns on Friday with Todd Father.
- 55:23Speaker 4: See you all Thursday.
- 55:25Speaker 2: It's gonna be May.
- 55:28Speaker 1: Why don't you test your little luck at the swing
- 55:30Speaker 1: for a daily shot to win game on the bet
- 55:32Speaker 1: MGM app. It's like a little video game, and if
