- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike. Career back with cracking head coach Lane Lambert
- 0:03Speaker 1: LAANEA three two loss to Dallas the other night. Take
- 0:06Speaker 1: us through that game. Another close, tough, hard fought game
- 0:10Speaker 1: in with Seattle. Fill up short.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, that one I said it yesterday. That one
- 0:17Speaker 2: stung sat with me for a couple of days. You know,
- 0:21Speaker 2: we were we played, We played a good hockey game
- 0:24Speaker 2: for the most part. We made a couple of mistakes
- 0:27Speaker 2: that we can't make. And you know, there's there's mistakes
- 0:32Speaker 2: that you can live with and mistakes you can't live with.
- 0:35Speaker 2: And the couple of mistakes that that we made wear
- 0:37Speaker 2: mistakes that have our time living with. So uh, you know,
- 0:40Speaker 2: these are situations that we are very very aware of
- 0:46Speaker 2: how we need to play them. We didn't play them
- 0:49Speaker 2: that way, and that just is a real good lesson
- 0:53Speaker 2: for our players that you know, you never know what
- 0:55Speaker 2: five seconds is going to win or lose your hockey game.
- 0:58Speaker 2: And you know, we we made some mistakes that we
- 1:02Speaker 2: can't make and puck ends up in the back of
- 1:05Speaker 2: our net with you know, not much time left in
- 1:07Speaker 2: the third period.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Are you comfortable sharing what some of those mistakes are
- 1:11Speaker 1: and how you go about addressing those Is this an
- 1:13Speaker 1: on the bench in game? Is this in a practice adjustment?
- 1:17Speaker 1: Is this a private meeting? How do you go about
- 1:19Speaker 1: trying to correct some of these mistakes that, in your words,
- 1:22Speaker 1: you can't be making.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Well, there's you know, and again there's mistakes made all
- 1:25Speaker 2: the time, right So you know, like I say, if
- 1:28Speaker 2: a guy goes into the corner and he tries to
- 1:30Speaker 2: hit somebody like maybe Montour did against Miko Ratman, and
- 1:35Speaker 2: Rattnan is a big, big guy and ends up, you know,
- 1:37Speaker 2: bouncing off him and taking the puck to the net.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I can live with that because Monty went in there.
- 1:42Speaker 2: He went in there with everything he had. And you
- 1:45Speaker 2: know there was another time in the game when Monty
- 1:47Speaker 2: went in there in the same way on Ratnan and
- 1:49Speaker 2: finished him off and the play was over. I can
- 1:51Speaker 2: live with those things. It's our systematical structural play that
- 1:56Speaker 2: I can't live with. And these are in game situations,
- 2:00Speaker 2: and definitely, you know yesterday's video session.
- 2:05Speaker 1: The hits keep on coming for Seattle. From an injury standpoint. Now,
- 2:09Speaker 1: Jaden Schwartz is out for a minimum of six weeks.
- 2:12Speaker 1: We know what he brings and his impossibility to replace him.
- 2:17Speaker 1: But how important is that next man up mentality? And
- 2:20Speaker 1: who are you looking towards to pick it up and
- 2:22Speaker 1: step up in his absence?
- 2:23Speaker 2: Well, I think for me, Schwartz is a big loss,
- 2:28Speaker 2: perhaps you know, one of the biggest we've had because
- 2:30Speaker 2: his leadership in the locker room. So we need our
- 2:33Speaker 2: leadership group to step up, take that mentality that he
- 2:37Speaker 2: has and bring it to the group. You know what
- 2:41Speaker 2: I'm talking specifically. You know, when things aren't going well,
- 2:46Speaker 2: he has a way and he leads by example. So
- 2:51Speaker 2: you know, from that standpoint, we need we need people
- 2:54Speaker 2: to step up to the plate. And it's not going
- 2:57Speaker 2: to be one person, it's not going to be two people.
- 2:58Speaker 2: It's going to be a group, and we're going to
- 3:01Speaker 2: have to look for those leaders to come to the
- 3:04Speaker 2: plate in this situation.
- 3:05Speaker 1: In your media this morning, he said there's a very
- 3:07Speaker 1: good chance we see Coppolo cockle back here tonight this afternoon.
- 3:11Speaker 1: What does he bring back to the lineup that you
- 3:13Speaker 1: feel this group's been missing.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Well, you know, he brings an element of strength around
- 3:19Speaker 2: the net. You know, he's for me, He hasn't played
- 3:23Speaker 2: many games this year, So again here's a guy who's
- 3:27Speaker 2: trying to catch a moving train here. And you know,
- 3:31Speaker 2: his lower body injury this time has limited him from
- 3:35Speaker 2: skating and keeping in proper condition. We feel like he's
- 3:40Speaker 2: in good condition, but you know, when he had the
- 3:44Speaker 2: upper body injury, you know, I think he was better
- 3:48Speaker 2: off coming back in that situation when he had you know,
- 3:52Speaker 2: had his legs. So what we need from him is
- 3:55Speaker 2: we need him keep his shift short. We need him
- 3:58Speaker 2: to go to the net. We need him to.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Produce Oilers lost eight three on Monday or Tuesday to Dallas.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Anyone who's watched this team play knows that's not the
- 4:06Speaker 1: Edmondson Oilers and they're going to be coming in here
- 4:09Speaker 1: with a bit of a burr in their saddle here tonight.
- 4:11Speaker 1: What do you need to see from your group to
- 4:13Speaker 1: limit the opportunities from a team that is trying to
- 4:16Speaker 1: get back on the right track AD five hundred.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Record, Well, we have got to be ready to go
- 4:20Speaker 2: right from the start. They're going to be This is
- 4:23Speaker 2: no surprise. Shouldn't be a surprise for our hockey team.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Our team has been told to be ready very politely. Yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 2: And I mean, at the end of the day, they're
- 4:33Speaker 2: the ones that got to go out there and do
- 4:34Speaker 2: it right. So the Oilers are they're two time Stanley
- 4:39Speaker 2: Cup finalists. You know, I think you see teams that
- 4:44Speaker 2: maybe have gone through a couple of long postseason stretches,
- 4:48Speaker 2: maybe sort of struggle to find their way in the
- 4:51Speaker 2: first couple of months. This is a team that obviously
- 4:56Speaker 2: is a very very high obtained team. We have to
- 4:58Speaker 2: manage the puck and we have to be ready to go.
- 5:00Speaker 2: We can't turn tucks over and feed their transitioning
