- 0:02Speaker 1: I know you may be asking what's next?
- 0:06Speaker 1: What's my purpose?
- 0:07Speaker 1: What if?
- 0:08Speaker 1: Because I've asked those too.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to the Start your Comeback Podcast.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I'm Toni Thrash, a certified life coach, and I want to share the tools and practical steps to help you create a winning game plan to move into your new adventure.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Hi, welcome back.
- 0:57Speaker 1: You are listening to episode 51.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm so glad you're here.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Last week you heard me discuss the need to learn to listen to the sound of you.
- 1:07Speaker 1: That means taking that first 20 minutes of the day to just listen, without any screens available.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But this week I want to discuss the art of letting go.
- 1:20Speaker 1: As a rule, as we learn to let go, we find we are more present in our reality and not in a brain fog.
- 1:29Speaker 1: We see a shift happen.
- 1:31Speaker 1: This shift is imperative if we are going to get past the junk.
- 1:35Speaker 1: This shift and the following action steps are required before we can take the steps toward healing.
- 1:41Speaker 1: We need, as we walk through transitions, letting go of our past, our mistakes or someone who no longer has the right to be there, or maybe a job has to happen before we can transition.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Not letting go steals valuable time, energy and mental stamina from us.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I'm learning to let go of some things that are sucking my time from me.
- 2:09Speaker 1: They're good things, but I'm putting them on a shelf to return to later.
- 2:14Speaker 1: It is a seesaw of emotions for me, as it will be for you.
- 2:18Speaker 1: It's good for me to walk away and lean into new adventures.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Here are three questions I want you to ask yourself when you are in this letting go step.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Okay, the first one is are you ready to let go?
- 2:35Speaker 1: If the answer is yes, then the next step is pure courage and risk.
- 2:41Speaker 1: You've decided to leave behind what is no longer working for you.
- 2:46Speaker 1: That's great.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Then we can map it out and get ready to build that game plan.
- 2:51Speaker 1: But if the answer is no, and yet you still have that nudge of saying I need to let this go, but you're not quite there, then there's still a little bit of work for you to do, and that's okay, there's no shame in this.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Just do the work that you need to get you to the place that you need to be.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Number two, then what are those steps for letting go?
- 3:18Speaker 1: You see, this part of the process is a must mental exercise with your coach, because, as a coach, this is an important part because, as we move into the map it out stage in a couple of weeks, it will help to build that game plan to help you move forward.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Number three how will you overcome the obstacles that challenge your letting go?
- 3:42Speaker 1: People will say things because that's what they do, but you have to prepare how you will handle the unexpected obstacles.
- 3:53Speaker 1: So it's good for us to actually maybe think of some of the obstacles that could pop in our way, and this is a brainstorming exercise to help you see where these obstacles are and to expect them.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Please do not think that letting go just happens.
- 4:11Speaker 1: It takes time and it's hard.
- 4:13Speaker 1: The important thing is you have decided that this is no longer working for you and you are taking that imperative first step, which is a mental shift that will lead you down the path to your freedom.
- 4:27Speaker 1: So here are three things I want you to start thinking about as you prepare to let go of something, someone or a job or whatever it is that you need to let go of, maybe just a bad habit.
- 4:45Speaker 1: The first thing is this I want you to begin to expect the best possible outcome.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Here's why If we don't have the expectation of the best possible outcome, then we stay stuck because our belief system is still in the muck and there's still fear attached.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And what do those expectations look like?
- 5:10Speaker 1: Write them down, glue them to a wall or tattoo them on your arm.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Expecting leads to a mental shift, to know it is now time to let go.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You see, when I pray, I expect God to answer.
- 5:25Speaker 1: He has always answered.
- 5:28Speaker 1: If that expectation wasn't there, then I have zero hope.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Number two I want you to be kind to yourself.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Turn off that noise and don't listen to the voice which always has had a negative reminder who do you think you are?
- 5:48Speaker 1: You can't do that.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You see, you can talk yourself out of anything, but I want you to now talk yourself into something that is healthy and rewarding, and sometimes we don't know what that is, and that is why we need a coach.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And number three, finally, the last thing I want you to have is resolve that life doesn't have to be redundant.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You have the choice to build a life, regardless of the transition, that is beautiful and fulfilling.
- 6:22Speaker 1: You may not see it just yet.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I see it and I believe in you.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Sometimes that transition is the only way to get us to move out of the box that we've built around ourselves.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Letting go is one of the hardest things we will ever do.
- 6:38Speaker 1: It's painful, terrifying, it's beautiful and exhilarating.
- 6:45Speaker 1: All of these emotions are essential to letting go.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Let go of what you think needs to happen and trust in the process and how God changes your perspective.
- 6:56Speaker 1: After all, any transition is always a letting go shift we need to make.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Please let go of what people will think, because this is sure to keep you in on the bench and trapped.
- 7:11Speaker 1: So, are you struggling with letting go of someone or something or a belief system that you had?
- 7:17Speaker 1: I know firsthand that it is so hard and yet, with a new game plan, it's hopeful.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I would love to be part of your journey to letting go, of your journey to letting go.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I have a free discovery call and would love to discover with you the steps needed for you to let go and to move forward.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Just hit the calendar link in the show notes and book that call now.
- 7:43Speaker 1: That's it for this week, but join me next week as I discuss part three of the Sound of you series.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Mapping it out, I'll get you off the bench to start your comeback.
