- 0:01Speaker 1: Dispensationalism is a system of interpretation. It is a hermeneutic.
- 0:07Speaker 1: It is a method of interpreting the Bible which takes
- 0:11Speaker 1: the plain sense of the text. But what dispensationalism does
- 0:16Speaker 1: is it interprets the text according to its plain meaning,
- 0:21Speaker 1: even in prophetic passages. The second aspect of the dispensational
- 0:26Speaker 1: hermeneutic is that dispensationalism interprets the Bible progressively, not retrospectively.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Dispensationalism follows progressive revelation. As God reveals more and more
- 0:41Speaker 1: and more and reads the New Testament through the Old.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It understands that there's a God's plan for the Church
- 0:50Speaker 1: and God's plan for Israel, that God has a nationally
- 0:54Speaker 1: chosen people and a spiritually chosen people. And people say, well,
- 0:59Speaker 1: that's so new, it's the nineteenth century. It's not something
- 1:03Speaker 1: it's new. Well, I don't think it's new. I think
- 1:05Speaker 1: it's recovered. I think that's how the New Testament writers
- 1:08Speaker 1: read the Old Testament. Our own spiritual security rests on
- 1:12Speaker 1: the fact that we have a faithful God who keeps
- 1:14Speaker 1: his promises to Israel. So we are sured that He
- 1:17Speaker 1: will keep his promises to the church as well. That's
- 1:20Speaker 1: why this hermeneutic is so important, because without it we
- 1:25Speaker 1: have no confidence that God will keep his promises to
- 1:28Speaker 1: the Church.
- 1:30Speaker 2: So, for my Christian friends who love Vodi Bacham, this
- 1:33Speaker 2: is audio only, so listen close.
- 1:34Speaker 3: But I bet you never heard this before. The overwhelming
- 1:38Speaker 3: majority in the Christian world not only hold to these views,
- 1:42Speaker 3: but condemn others who don't. This is huge, folks, this
- 1:47Speaker 3: is a big deal. To not be a dispensational Zionist
- 1:51Speaker 3: and to not believe that the current nation state of
- 1:56Speaker 3: Israel is God's centerpiece as it relates to end time
- 2:02Speaker 3: prophecy is for many people completely unacceptable. Unfortunately, for many
- 2:07Speaker 3: people because of the dispensational Zionism, everything Israel does is
- 2:11Speaker 3: right and we must support them in everything that they do.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Here's the other problem with that this idea limits our
- 2:19Speaker 3: ability to examine and measure ourselves. See here's what's interesting.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I can be as much of an enemy of God
- 2:27Speaker 3: as anyone else worshiping at the altar of the Beast
- 2:31Speaker 3: and this world system, and at the same time hold
- 2:35Speaker 3: onto this idea that this world system has to accept
- 2:38Speaker 3: Israel as a geopolitical entity, so that I'm not on
- 2:42Speaker 3: the wrong side of the war. If it's only about
- 2:45Speaker 3: being on the side of Israel and geopolitical matters, they
- 2:49Speaker 3: can do things that are ungodly, and by supporting those
- 2:51Speaker 3: things that are ungodly, I'm in an enemy of God.
- 2:54Speaker 3: But because I have reduced this idea to just supporting
- 2:59Speaker 3: a geopolitical nation, I've completely missed the point. This is
- 3:03Speaker 3: true spiritual warfare. That's the great irony. If we're not
- 3:08Speaker 3: careful and we're watching the newspaper and we're watching what
- 3:12Speaker 3: happens in the Middle East and trying to figure out
- 3:14Speaker 3: what's going on with Syria, what's going on with the Rack,
- 3:17Speaker 3: what's going on with China, what's going on with the Russia,
- 3:19Speaker 3: what's going on with Saudi Arabia, what's going on with Egypt,
- 3:21Speaker 3: what's going on with filling the blank? And while we're
- 3:23Speaker 3: looking at it, this war is going on right under
- 3:26Speaker 3: our noses Epheesian six twelve. For we do not wrestle
- 3:29Speaker 3: against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
- 3:34Speaker 3: against the cosmic powers over the present darkness, against the
- 3:37Speaker 3: spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. That's our war,
- 3:40Speaker 3: and that's this war. We destroy arguments, every lofty opinion
- 3:45Speaker 3: raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought
- 3:49Speaker 3: captive to obey Christ. That's where this war is. Never mind,
- 3:55Speaker 3: then we out Sodom and Gomorrah, Sodom and Gomorrah. What
- 4:00Speaker 3: matters is when those armies come across the Euphrates, we
- 4:07Speaker 3: are going to send troops and stand with Israel, And
- 4:12Speaker 3: therefore God will overlook us out Sodom and gamoring Sodom
- 4:17Speaker 3: and Gomorrah, because we fight on the right side of
- 4:20Speaker 3: the battle of armagedin. God help us if that's the
- 4:23Speaker 3: way we think.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Over the last couple of months, I've basically been on
- 4:28Speaker 4: online a lot, as most zoomers are, and I've seen
- 4:32Speaker 4: a really large faction on the right go anti Israel.
- 4:35Speaker 4: But what's been concerning me the most has been and
- 4:38Speaker 4: I've seen this growing faction in Christendom that's basically kind
- 4:42Speaker 4: of starting to pounce on what you would call a
- 4:45Speaker 4: dispensationalist or a Christian Zionist perspective, you know, labeling it
- 4:49Speaker 4: heresy and stuff like that. And at first I thought
- 4:51Speaker 4: it was just like you know, social media distortion, whatever
- 4:54Speaker 4: the usual Nick Fuentes types. But I've had friends and
- 4:58Speaker 4: family members even tell me that, you know, holding any
- 5:00Speaker 4: sort of Christian Zionists or dispensationalist perspective is like straight
- 5:05Speaker 4: up Christian heresy. And I'm used to hearing that from
- 5:07Speaker 4: Catholics and stuff, but like now that I'm hearing like,
- 5:10Speaker 4: who are seemingly ardent, you know, fellow Protestant believers evangelical
- 5:15Speaker 4: saying this? Like, I guess I'm wondering, where do you
- 5:17Speaker 4: think this is coming from? And what do you think
- 5:19Speaker 4: is the best way to handle that as an evangelical
- 5:22Speaker 4: Christian that maybe not. I'm not necessarily a dispensationalist, but
- 5:26Speaker 4: I don't think it's good to lave that heresy right.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Well, A good question to ask them is what is
- 5:31Speaker 2: a heresy? Yeah, because now I was going to say,
- 5:36Speaker 2: because theologians almost universally agree when it comes to eschatology,
- 5:40Speaker 2: the only true heresy is preterism, which means people who
- 5:44Speaker 2: think that everything that happened in the Bible, including the
- 5:47Speaker 2: Book of Revelation, has already happened, that Jesus already come
- 5:50Speaker 2: and set up his kingdom. It's quite obviously he hasn't, Okay,
- 5:54Speaker 2: But every other eschatological viewpoint is not a heresy, And
- 5:59Speaker 2: people who our Bible believers and scholars will argue over
- 6:05Speaker 2: is it dispensationalism, Is it historic dispensationalism, you know? Is
- 6:09Speaker 2: it partial predierism? Is it you know, postmillennialism, amlin? In
- 6:14Speaker 2: all these different viewpoints, is there a rapture? Is there
- 6:17Speaker 2: not a rapture? I just tell people, look, I'm not
- 6:20Speaker 2: on the planning committee. I'm on the welcoming committee. All right,
- 6:24Speaker 2: all right, thank you, And when Jesus comes back, I'll
- 6:27Speaker 2: welcome him. But it's not a heresy to be a dispensationalist.
- 6:32Speaker 2: It never How.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Would you define dispensationalism to a person who's just trying
- 6:37Speaker 5: to learn.
- 6:38Speaker 6: A teaching that God has two covenant people's Jews and Gentiles,
- 6:43Speaker 6: and he deals with them separately in two different ways
- 6:46Speaker 6: in the dispensation of the law. Then God was dealing
- 6:50Speaker 6: with the Jewish people through the sacrificial system, and he
- 6:53Speaker 6: sent Jesus into this world to establish a literal kingdom,
- 6:57Speaker 6: but with a throne in Jerusalem. God was sort of
- 7:00Speaker 6: sek surprised when the Jewish people didn't receive the Messiah,
- 7:04Speaker 6: and God had to revert to Plan B Plan B
- 7:06Speaker 6: was the Cross in the Church, and so now we're
- 7:09Speaker 6: in the dispensation of the Church. The problem is that
- 7:12Speaker 6: God didn't succeed in fulfilling his covenant with the Jews,
- 7:16Speaker 6: which is really God's central objective in history, and so
- 7:21Speaker 6: God has to get back to that. But because he
- 7:24Speaker 6: can only deal with one covenant people at a time,
- 7:27Speaker 6: somehow he has to remove the Church from the picture
- 7:30Speaker 6: so he can get back to his original goal, which
- 7:34Speaker 6: was with the Jewish people. Christ is going to return twice,
- 7:37Speaker 6: not just once, and the purpose of the first invisible
- 7:41Speaker 6: return is to remove the Church so that he can
- 7:44Speaker 6: get back to his original goal. And so you have
- 7:47Speaker 6: this ludicrous, ridiculous climax of all the purposes of God
- 7:52Speaker 6: as being Jesus returning to doo he was supposed to
- 7:55Speaker 6: do and fail, which is to establish a throne in
- 7:58Speaker 6: literal Jerusalem, and the temple will be rebuilt the sacrificial system,
- 8:04Speaker 6: and Jesus, who whose cross was supposed to end that
- 8:08Speaker 6: system according to the Book of Hebrews, is now presiding
- 8:11Speaker 6: over it for a literal thousand year period.
- 8:15Speaker 7: Let's look at that. Let me show you that. Let's
- 8:17Speaker 7: go to Galatians chapter one, Paul says, but though we
- 8:20Speaker 7: are an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel into
- 8:23Speaker 7: you than that which we have preach into you, let
- 8:24Speaker 7: him be a cursed. As we said before, So say
- 8:26Speaker 7: I now again, if any man preach any other gospel
- 8:30Speaker 7: unto you than that you ever received, let him be
- 8:31Speaker 7: a curse. Okay, So Paul says, if someone preaches another gospel,
- 8:35Speaker 7: then mine, which is what one Crinthias fifteen one through four.
- 8:38Speaker 7: He says, what he's a cursed? And he says, though
- 8:40Speaker 7: an angel from heaven preach another gospel?
- 8:44Speaker 3: All right?
- 8:44Speaker 7: Is there a place in the Bible where there's an
- 8:46Speaker 7: angel coming preaching something in heaven.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 7: As a matter of fact, let's go to Revelation chapter fourteen.
- 8:50Speaker 7: And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven,
- 8:52Speaker 7: having the Everlasting Gospel to preach into them that dwell
- 8:55Speaker 7: on the earth, and too every nation and kindred and
- 8:56Speaker 7: tongue in people saying with the loud voice one Corinthia's
- 8:59Speaker 7: fifteen one through four, is that what he says. If
- 9:01Speaker 7: it's not, then that angels a cursed because it's a
- 9:03Speaker 7: different dispensation. Let me say it's slow for those that
- 9:07Speaker 7: don't get it. It's a different dispensation.
- 9:12Speaker 5: What is dispensationalism? If you look it up on the internet,
- 9:15Speaker 5: it seems like it's this horrible, green eyed monster that's
- 9:18Speaker 5: going to come out to get you. But it's just
- 9:20Speaker 5: reading the Bible normally, that's all it is, and recognizing
- 9:24Speaker 5: that when you read the Bible sometimes God introduces something
- 9:28Speaker 5: that is so fundamentally new that it changes all the rules.
- 9:32Speaker 5: So you go from one dispensation to another. Like they
- 9:36Speaker 5: were in the Garden of Eden. They were outside the
- 9:38Speaker 5: Garden of Eden, completely different set of rules. They didn't
- 9:42Speaker 5: have the law. They did have the law, completely different
- 9:45Speaker 5: set of rules. And the most important for where we
- 9:49Speaker 5: live today is when did the dispensation of the Grace
- 9:54Speaker 5: of God begin? Because that really did change all the rules.
- 10:00Speaker 5: No longer under the law, free from the law in
- 10:04Speaker 5: the dispensation of the Grace of God, which was given
- 10:07Speaker 5: as a mystery to the apostle Paul.
- 10:11Speaker 8: Because I know that there are people that define dispensationalism
- 10:14Speaker 8: as people who literally believe that the nation of Israel
- 10:21Speaker 8: is just like gets a free ride to heaven. Yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 8: and that's not what we think, No, not at all
- 10:27Speaker 8: by any means. So like, if that's how you define dispensationalism,
- 10:31Speaker 8: well then that's not me. But also if you say, well,
- 10:35Speaker 8: Covenant theology believes in an amillennial reign, meaning that we
- 10:40Speaker 8: are currently living in the millennial reign in revelation that
- 10:43Speaker 8: this is how we're ruling and reigning with Christ, then
- 10:46Speaker 8: also I would look at you and be like, well,
- 10:48Speaker 8: I don't agree with that either, So where do I
- 10:49Speaker 8: fit in? So
