- 2:36Speaker 1: you watch right here on YouTube.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I appreciate you.
- 2:40Speaker 1: But now it's time to get into the business at hand.
- 2:45Speaker 1: So a little while back, I did you know, I
- 2:49Speaker 1: think originally it was like a live stream of some
- 2:52Speaker 1: of my go to albums, right, albums in my collection
- 2:56Speaker 1: that I frequently go to and listen, say, you know,
- 3:00Speaker 1: like it's that time. But yeah, let me listen to this,
- 3:03Speaker 1: let me listen to that. And I have a million
- 3:05Speaker 1: of those, so I could keep doing that over and
- 3:08Speaker 1: over because I have a music collection. I'm not trying
- 3:11Speaker 1: to brag in nothing like that because most of it
- 3:13Speaker 1: is digital, but it's extensive because I like a lot
- 3:16Speaker 1: of music and it's not all hip hop. But this
- 3:20Speaker 1: is a hip hop show, keeping things in the realm
- 3:22Speaker 1: of hip hop. We have a special version of go
- 3:28Speaker 1: to hip Hop albums for you today, and that's albums
- 3:31Speaker 1: by Alchemists. Now, quick caveat. I know some of y'all
- 3:35Speaker 1: really only exists on the internet. So whatever the conversation is,
- 3:39Speaker 1: that's all you ever talk about. I've been down with
- 3:43Speaker 1: Alchemist music for a very long time. Alchemist is just
- 3:47Speaker 1: not what he makes now. And he's definitely not only
- 3:51Speaker 1: a person who collaborates and produces albums for artists like
- 3:57Speaker 1: the Freddy Gibbs series or producing Currency or Boldie James,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know all these people. He Griselda, you know, Comway
- 4:07Speaker 1: the Machine, Conway to the Machine really.
- 4:10Speaker 2: But you know, like the and that could be a
- 4:13Speaker 2: whole other list.
- 4:14Speaker 1: There are whole albums that he's produced for artists that
- 4:17Speaker 1: are pretty dope. But when I'm talking about here, it's
- 4:20Speaker 1: more so Alchemists as a producer on display, and it's
- 4:26Speaker 1: more like producer albums.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:28Speaker 1: So there's albums he put out that are instrumental albums.
- 4:33Speaker 1: There are albums that he put out that are more
- 4:36Speaker 1: so like the typical I produced all these beats. I'm
- 4:40Speaker 1: bringing all these rappers to rap over them. So here's
- 4:44Speaker 1: five for me out of Alchemist's entire catalog.
- 4:50Speaker 2: When I want to hear, you know.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Alchemist beats, whether it's just instrumental or Alchemists showcasing his
- 4:58Speaker 1: beats with a bunch dope rappers, I go to these five,
- 5:03Speaker 1: starting right at the top. Two thousand and nine Chemical Warfare.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I guess you can consider this like the first of
- 5:14Speaker 1: a few, and I mean a very field because he's
- 5:17Speaker 1: kind of turned it into something else now as far
- 5:20Speaker 1: as when he produces. But few albums from like back
- 5:25Speaker 1: in the days where you know, you had the DJ
- 5:28Speaker 1: Klue album, The k Slave Rest in Peace, Folk Master
- 5:33Speaker 1: Flex album, Pete Rock. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 5:36Speaker 1: this was Alchemist's situation.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Chemical Warfare was crazy, right.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Dropped in two thousand and nine July seventh, of two
- 5:44Speaker 1: thousand and nine. Fifteen songs on here fifty five minutes,
- 5:48Speaker 1: so it's not going to take up a.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Bunch of time.
- 5:50Speaker 1: But if you've never heard of this album, the features
- 5:53Speaker 1: alone should make you go right to whatever streaming service
- 5:57Speaker 1: you use, preferably purchase it. Support hip hop but Coogi
- 6:03Speaker 1: raps on here, Snoop Snoop is on a dope song
- 6:07Speaker 1: on here, so don't sleep, Prodigy of course, eminem Evidence,
- 6:12Speaker 1: Blue tayl Lib, Kwali, three to six, Mafia, Maxwell, the
- 6:17Speaker 1: singer Twister, Gang Green, which Alchemist has a pretty dope
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know. That's that's like his group. I don't think
- 6:25Speaker 1: they got anything whack, to be honest, together what else
- 6:30Speaker 1: is here? Fabulous is on here, Dog Pound. This album
- 6:34Speaker 1: is stacked with features, and when I tell you the
- 6:37Speaker 1: beats are crazy, the beats are crazy. And this is
- 6:41Speaker 1: more of the Alchemists that used drums right, that had
- 6:48Speaker 1: more of a variety, Like if you think about Alchemists
- 6:52Speaker 1: producing for Mob Deep, that's the type of production that
- 6:56Speaker 1: was on here. Not to say that I don't like
- 6:59Speaker 1: a lot of what's out now, I'm just saying if
- 7:03Speaker 1: you're coming here with expectations of Alfredom. Some of that
- 7:09Speaker 1: vibe is here, but for the most part it's this
- 7:14Speaker 1: was Alchemists when this is him in his prime, so
- 7:17Speaker 1: to speak. So that's a dope project. Another one that's
- 7:22Speaker 1: a compilation in the same regard released in two thousand
- 7:25Speaker 1: and seven, so that there was something earlier. So I'm
- 7:28Speaker 1: kind of missing it because this is part three of
- 7:32Speaker 1: the Cutting Room Floor, but part three, to me, it's
- 7:36Speaker 1: probably the dopest out of this series of albums. I
- 7:41Speaker 1: said Chemical Warfare was number one and nine, but I
- 7:44Speaker 1: think I think these started like early two thousands, but
- 7:49Speaker 1: Cutting Room Floor three has what it was about, like
- 7:53Speaker 1: twenty six songs, I think because I don't know what
- 7:57Speaker 1: this extra music is on the end of this. I
- 8:00Speaker 1: don't know if I added as a why iTunes be dripping,
- 8:03Speaker 1: but whatever.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Fifty minutes in length.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Features include Nas Ray Kwan, Ray Kwan or two Joints,
- 8:11Speaker 1: Havoc Mob, Deep Poogie Rap Again, Rick Ross and Meek
- 8:15Speaker 1: Mill Blue is on here, component Noriega the Large Professor
- 8:21Speaker 1: fifty Like if you ever heard Mechanic on the fifty
- 8:25Speaker 1: cent Jane the mixtape Alchemists did that beat, It's crazy,
- 8:30Speaker 1: It's like it's a gun cocking on that joint.
- 8:32Speaker 2: It's crazy. I think I said evidence.
- 8:36Speaker 1: The evidence is on here Action Bronson for Sean styles P.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I'm saying, you.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Heard the names, but more than the names, the beats
- 8:49Speaker 1: are just crazy. Alchemist was in his bag in the
- 8:52Speaker 1: early two thousands. You think he in his bag now
- 8:55Speaker 1: in the early two thousands, you know, Alchemist was a
- 8:58Speaker 1: force to be wrecked with and the production.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Now, let's go to a few others I have on here.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Another one I have, and this one is strictly an
- 9:09Speaker 1: instrumental album. It's a series called Rapper's Best Friend. It's
- 9:15Speaker 1: called Rapper's Best Friend, an instrumental series by Alchemists. This
- 9:20Speaker 1: is part five, and this is probably my favorite. There's
- 9:24Speaker 1: twelve tracks on here, thirty six minutes dropped in twenty nineteen.
- 9:29Speaker 1: You don't need no more than thirty six minutes of
- 9:32Speaker 1: straight up instrumentals unless you're trying to sharpen your sword
- 9:35Speaker 1: like the Woo would say that, which means you're practicing ryman. Yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 1: shopping your schward. You know what I'm saying. But nevertheless,
- 9:45Speaker 1: one of the joints on here that I didn't really
- 9:47Speaker 1: pay attention to.
- 9:50Speaker 2: But when Benny the Butchers dropped ten to Talk two? Right?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Is it Tennis two? I'm getting confused now I know
- 9:58Speaker 1: there three of them. I think had to talk to
- 10:01Speaker 1: Rubber Bands and Waits. I didn't realize it was on
- 10:05Speaker 1: this mixtape because I mean this instrumental album, because I
- 10:10Speaker 1: hadn't heard it in a while. So when I went back,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I was like, oh, and that's what's kind of dope
- 10:15Speaker 1: about hip hop instrumental albums, especially Alchemists and in Dyler too.
- 10:21Speaker 1: But you find out, like if you heard a song
- 10:25Speaker 1: that you liked on an Artists album and like the
- 10:28Speaker 1: album's crazy, that song get is Crazy, beats crazy, and
- 10:32Speaker 1: then you just happened to listen to one of these
- 10:34Speaker 1: instrumental CDs and you're like, hey, Alchemists did that, that
- 10:39Speaker 1: was on here first, and this album has a couple
- 10:42Speaker 1: of them, including Imperious Wrecks off of Sean Price's album.
- 10:47Speaker 1: It was the album well entitled Imperious Rex but it
- 10:53Speaker 1: dropped after he passed away.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I liked it a lot. I don't know if people disliked.
- 10:59Speaker 1: It, but that song, the beat, with Sean Price's voice
- 11:06Speaker 1: and lyrics, pure uncut boom bat like put it in
- 11:11Speaker 1: my veins. Okay, don't put it in your veins. But
- 11:16Speaker 1: it's metaphor. It's hip hop. It's a metaphor. But yeah,
- 11:21Speaker 1: if you like instrumental albums, Alchemists the series alone, Raper's
- 11:25Speaker 1: Best Friend is dope, but part five is my favorite,
- 11:29Speaker 1: just to you know, just to rock out too and
- 11:31Speaker 1: listen another one for me. This is more of a
- 11:35Speaker 1: showcase album, also featuring a couple of artists.
- 11:40Speaker 2: This is closer to an EP than anything.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But nevertheless, I just I kept it on repeat in
- 11:49Speaker 1: twenty nineteen.
- 11:50Speaker 2: That's yacht rock two. The vibes on this joint.
- 11:57Speaker 1: This is like if you live in a place where
- 12:01Speaker 1: the sun is out and it's nice weather like generally
- 12:04Speaker 1: all the time, or you know it's summertime, you know
- 12:09Speaker 1: New York, or if you own a home and you
- 12:11Speaker 1: got a back yard, you're on the beach, whatever, or
- 12:14Speaker 1: maybe you just want to feel transported. Maybe it's winter
- 12:17Speaker 1: and the weather sucks, but you got these dope headphones
- 12:21Speaker 1: that you can isolate the cold and the sounds outside
- 12:25Speaker 1: of that, and it just kind of go to some
- 12:28Speaker 1: of those destinations, those warmer destinations I mentioned. This is
- 12:32Speaker 1: a very dope hip hop album production wise that feels
- 12:36Speaker 1: like that also includes some dope records from Big Boy
- 12:40Speaker 1: Action Bronson's on Head, Willie the Kid, Gang Green Again,
- 12:44Speaker 1: Gang Green, I believe is on everything except for the
- 12:47Speaker 1: instrumental album Boldie, James Rock, Marciano, Benny de Butcher, Conway,
- 12:52Speaker 1: Big Twins. I like Big Twins rapping over Alchemist beats.
- 12:58Speaker 1: With that voice, he just sounds dope. But I love
- 13:01Speaker 1: this joint. I go back to this frequently, like I
- 13:04Speaker 1: might listen today. That's what it's like, all right. And
- 13:08Speaker 1: the last one on my list go to album from
- 13:12Speaker 1: Alchemists another beat showcase. But also this one is like
- 13:19Speaker 1: an instrumental album that also has rapping on it. It's
- 13:24Speaker 1: almost like those different albums I named where you know,
- 13:29Speaker 1: the instrumental album straight up instrumental, but then you had
- 13:32Speaker 1: these other showcases. This is kind of like both and
- 13:36Speaker 1: the same. So there's a lot of beats and instrumentals.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I mean beats and instrumentals. I guess you can call
- 13:45Speaker 1: them like vignettes or segues on interludes, but I'm talking
- 13:48Speaker 1: about like musically that weave in and out of beats, music, sounds,
- 13:57Speaker 1: all these combinations of things and then a rap are
- 13:59Speaker 1: just rapping out of no way.
- 14:01Speaker 2: You're like, oh, this is really good.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And that album is Russian Roulette dropped in twenty twelve.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Let's see thirty songs on here, but only forty five minutes.
- 14:14Speaker 1: The majority of this album is really like an experience.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Alchemists ain't made an album like this since.
- 14:23Speaker 1: In my opinion, features on here include some of the
- 14:27Speaker 1: some of the guys you know, AG you know from
- 14:31Speaker 1: show Business, AG, Evidence Rock, Marciano's on here, who else?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Guilty Simpsons is on here for Sean And what I
- 14:42Speaker 1: like about it do rag Dynasties on here? What I
- 14:45Speaker 1: like about it is it just feels like an experience, right,
- 14:52Speaker 1: like not, yo, let me go to this song and
- 14:55Speaker 1: that song, skip this one. This It feels like you
- 14:58Speaker 1: have to listen to it without skipping or else you're
- 15:01Speaker 1: not getting the full experience of what he presented. And
- 15:05Speaker 1: I just love the way it sounds, you know what
- 15:08Speaker 1: I'm saying. It sounds like artistry. It sounds like somebody
- 15:13Speaker 1: who had a vision beyond the other albums, which are
- 15:17Speaker 1: pretty dope, beyond you know, like yo, let me just
- 15:22Speaker 1: take all these hot beats, get all my favorite rappers
- 15:25Speaker 1: to rap over them and boom. It's dope, yes, But
- 15:31Speaker 1: Russian Roulette is more like you're so engaged in the
- 15:36Speaker 1: soundscape he's created musically that when somebody starts rapping, it's
- 15:41Speaker 1: almost a bonus. And I know, back in the days,
- 15:44Speaker 1: I used to feel like I don't even need the rapping,
- 15:47Speaker 1: just let the beats rock. But they do add an
- 15:51Speaker 1: element to it. And there's some people who really don't
- 15:54Speaker 1: want to hear, you know, thirty minutes of just instrumentals,
- 15:59Speaker 1: and I get it. But if you a hip hop
- 16:00Speaker 1: head and you get into all the things I just mentioned,
- 16:04Speaker 1: it's a perfect album to just check out ride to,
- 16:09Speaker 1: you know, listen to the elements, listen to what he's
- 16:11Speaker 1: doing here and presenting, and I think you enjoy it.
- 16:15Speaker 1: So those are my five go to albums from Alchemists,
- 16:19Speaker 1: as I receive an email from Alchemists. Obviously, again, there
- 16:27Speaker 1: are so many collaborations in his catalog, and maybe that's
- 16:32Speaker 1: what I'll do next. What are your top five Alchemist's
- 16:37Speaker 1: albums where he displays his beats. It could be the
- 16:41Speaker 1: collab albums, whatever, you know, I just put your comments
