- 0:47SPEAKER_01: And so since today is the 40th episode, then we are going to be listening to somebody share their testimony today.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: I'm sure you obviously know that because you clicked on today's podcast.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Um, so um if you're a new listener, then hi, welcome.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: So glad you're here.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Today I have my sister-in-law uh Jessie here with us, and so she's just going to be here sharing her Jesus story on how um, you know, the Lord has changed her life, and she's just super excited to be able to have the opportunity to share God's glory.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Hi guys.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Um, so I just wanted to say thank you to Amber for having me on here.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: I've actually always wanted to share my story, but I've never had the opportunity to, so I'm very thankful that my first time sharing my story online is someone in my family.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: I think that's very special.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: Um, so I am very excited to be able to do this.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: I am a little nervous.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: I've never done a podcast before, or like I was saying, shared my story.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: Um a lot of my testimony I feel like was made in 2025, but truthfully, my whole life feels like it when I look back on a lot of things that happened and my life before I decided to walk with Jesus.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: I did decide um around like September of 2025 when life was super heavy just to try to change my life and change patterns that I had.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: And in April 20 April 19th, 2026, my son and I, Vance, he's seven, um, did get baptized at the church that we now go to.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: So that was a great um thing that had happened.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: But kind of before that, and before I had found well, really like say Jesus found me.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: I didn't find him, he was just there the whole time.
- 2:45SPEAKER_02: Um with a lot of stuff in my life, I struggled with just thinking I had a purpose or why am I here?
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: Um, what is my worth because I know at the end of the day I do have some type of purpose, but life can get very heavy when we're trying to deal with it on our own, and sometimes when we don't have someone, especially when we have God to look to, when life gets heavy, we don't feel as lost, and that's something that I learned when I decided to walk with him.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: Life will always feel heavy, but no matter how heavy it is, his strength is always there for us to lean on with his wisdom and guidance.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: Um, so now my life definitely looks a lot dip a lot a lot lot lot different than it did last year around this time.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: That's embarrassing.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm just gonna leave that in there.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: I don't even care.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Like, how are you sitting here and like I don't know if you guys can hear that?
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: You probably can't hear it.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Like, first of all, excuse you, like, for thinking that you can sit there and just okay, anyway.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: I silence the notifications.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: Anywho.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Um, so I but I pretend that was planned.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: With like the biggest thing I think, I guess I'll just talk about so 2025 was a very heavy year for me, and I think that it was the first time in my life where I really had to actually trust God and realize at the end of the day, it's just me and God in it.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: He does give us people and a community to rely on and be around, but without him and the love and the grace and the forgiveness and patience and everything that comes with it all, it's definitely a whole different life.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: So in March, the beginning of March, I decided to move to Delaware as a single mother for the ones who don't know.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: My son lives with me full-time, and I do have family that lives in Delaware.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Oh, this is gonna get me hard.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: Crap.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: Um, so I have family that lives in Delaware, and when I was living in Jersey, I had a whole family there.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: Crap.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: She's just really emotional.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: She's like so excited and just honestly so emotional.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Just it's such a honestly, I'm gonna be really honest.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: I absolutely love her story.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously, since she's my sister-in-law, then then I know it.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Um, and I've watched her go through, and and it's honestly probably out of all the people that I know in their testimonies, probably one of the most monumental ones, like the one of the really biggest ones that I've seen.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: And so, um, yeah.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: Um, so let's backtrack a little outside of 2025.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: Um, life just before that, and a little background about me.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: So I am a mom.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: I do currently own my own cleaning business, it's just me.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Um, I'll get to that part later in the story.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: I live in Delaware.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: I have a dog, I've had him for a very long time.
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: His name is Jax.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Um, what else?
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: I have a lot of siblings.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Obviously, Amber is married to my brother, and before that, I was married to my son's dad for a little bit, and we were together for about almost like eight years, and we were married for like a year and a half.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: So moving away from Jersey and moving away from my son's family was a bigger deal than I had noticed at the time.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: Um at the time I had factored in like, is this the choice I need to make?
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: Is Delaware where I'm supposed to move to?
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: Because I had felt like I missed my family, I was missing just everyone because his dad and I had separated about a year prior to me moving, so it was about a year being there, and I was working for his family, I was working at Wawa too, and life was just very heavy, it was lonely.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: I had support for my son when I needed it, but I just knew that I needed more and I needed something.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Um, and my lease was about to renew in Jersey, but I was like, I can't stay here anymore, and I felt this push saying, move to Delaware, now's the time.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: Um excuse me.
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: So I moved to Delaware, and then my landlord I have now was a private landlord.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: It's kind of crazy because the landlord I have, it was the only place that I had got accepted for, and it ended up being in Middletown, and Middletown is somewhere that I grew up, I went to high school there, and I had a lot of friends in the area, but it was definitely one of my partying kind of exploring the world, just being a fun, crazy teenager.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: Um, so then moving away when I was 20, and then coming back when I had turned, well, 29 at the time.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: So moving away and then coming home to what I thought was home definitely wasn't what I expected.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: I thought when I moved to Delaware it was gonna solve all my problems and just I was gonna be happy.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: And that was not the case.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: Um it is the case, but it wasn't the case necessarily of like sometimes we think we solve a problem where it's sunshine and rainbows if we make one choice, and then you realize that choice was a leap of faith, and what comes behind that choice and how your life is about to look.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: And so my life last year just got like kind of heavy, and it was like trial after trial after trial, and I've always believed in God, I knew He was there.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: I feel like when we grow up, we're told about God, we're told what happens if we don't listen to God's word and read your Bible, go to church and those things, but we're never taught that you can have a relationship with Jesus, and taught that he's not just there to save you from the hard, scary times.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: And if we can say God's got this for the heavy things and have peace in that, we should also be able to say that in the small things, but no one really taught me that when I was younger, and I feel like a lot of anxiety comes from that.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I'm rambling.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: But so you're not rambling, this is honestly really good because I I I think that so many people like I feel like this is so relatable, and and we're by far the like I came from this background too, and we're not the only people that have come from that background, you know, where people do, you know, have that that what do you call it?
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: I don't saw it like a quota, because that's not it at all.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't know, people have a minimum of like expectation of like if you're a Christian, go to church on Sunday, do this, and then you're okay.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, and and like a bare minimum of the church.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're supposed to go to church, but like that is so like a crumb of the rest of it, and and that relationship with the Jesus is so uh like key, and and you know, like you just hit it, you hit it right on the spot, so you're not rambling at all, like you know, going through the muck of it and going through the ugliest and ugliest of times and how you don't think you're gonna make it out alive, but somehow, because of Jesus, you do, and then not only do you make it out, but then as you come out of it, you know, you have become reliant on him, and so that changes you.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: It definitely does, because when you realize like you're not relying on with me, my anxiety used to get really bad, and I'd have control issues of being like the second I was told no, if something happened or something didn't make sense, I'm like, okay, I'm gonna figure it out, or I'm gonna make this work, and like the more sometimes I would try to make something work, it was like the more things would spiral and go wrong, and I'm realizing this is not in my control, and at that point I was just making choices without knowing I had a Bible and Jesus to lean on during it.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: But so March goes by, April.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: Now we're living in Delaware.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: I got a cleaning job uh for another company, and then I also started working at Wawa, and things were going pretty good.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: Um, but it was kind of rough because I had to leave behind like a life that I had built.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: I left buying friends, I left buying income.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: I had no idea if it was gonna work out.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: I didn't know if I was gonna get a job, so thankfully God helped work that out, and this is before I really just decided.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: This is like looking back now of being like God was in this the whole time, and me being scared to death when all of it was going on, mind you.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: Um so May of last year, May 3rd, I had noticed that it had been a year since my mom had passed, and that was rough for her.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: So she had passed away in 2024, and about six months before that.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: My stories are all over the place, but before six months before my mom passed, my now ex-husband and I had separated.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: So the last three years have been super heavy.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: It was a separation, and then my mom passing unexpectedly with no one knowing it was gonna happen, and a big part of my story and my strength now is because of her.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't want to talk much about what happened with her, but with it involving her health, and she didn't know.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: Um she didn't know that she was gonna pass away, and I feel like we do take advantage of the time we have, and we should take our health more serious.
- 12:41SPEAKER_02: Um and she unfortunately didn't have that opportunity, and so sorry, that's off topic too, but that she is a big part of my story.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: Um and my my mom and her mom and my mom, they had grown up in the church kind of, so I feel like with me now being in church and doing what I'm doing, I'm carrying out a lot of what I hope she would be proud of.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: So to the next thing.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: Um, in June last year, I got super super sick.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: I thought the year was going great, I'm working, my son is happy.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: Like, I really made this happen.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: And the key thing that I just noticed I said is I really made this happen, and that was what my thought was in June until I realized, like, okay, I did this, but it's kind of like God took the wheel in June and was like, Let me help you through what's you're about to go through because it got super heavy.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: Um, so in June, um, I had got kind of sick, and I don't know why I had got sick.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: Um, I had lost a lot of weight before that.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: I was working out at the gym, I was going to the gym all the time.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: Um eating decent but not that well.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: I struggle a lot with physical and mental health, so those are two big things, but I didn't factor that in.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: Um, but randomly I was excuse me.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: Hold on.
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: So in about the middle of June when my health was going down, I had noticed that my heart rate kept getting kinda high, and it was like off of random things.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: My um and I was pretty fit for the most part, so I wasn't understanding, and I decided to go to the doctors for it.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: Um, and there were points that I would just get so overwhelmed and I would be I cried all the time.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: I still cry sometimes, but I've got it under control for the most part.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: Um, but I would just it was a season of feeling lost and a s season of feeling like God, what is going on?
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Because I thought everything was about to be okay and things aren't feeling okay.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: In July it kept going down.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: August it got even a little more scarier because they're I was just having the weirdest symptoms.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: I unexpectedly lost a lot of weight.
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: Um almost I've lost probably about a total of 80 to 90 pounds.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: I'm currently healthy, semi-healthy, I'm as healthy as I can be, I'd like to say, but it's maintaining now.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: So I don't want to go through my whole health journey for my testimony because it's not really like what makes it, and I can definitely share it another day.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: Um but with my health, I think the scariest part of with how sick I got was the biggest thing is when I found Jesus in it.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: It was such a moment because I knew I had family and I knew I had friends, I knew I had the guy that I was dating at the time, and I still just felt so alone.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: I felt like no one was understanding where I was coming from.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: I felt like nobody could help me.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: I it's it's kind of funny because since I've like grew up sort of going to church, and I have family that still went to church even once we stopped.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: There were times um where I didn't talk about my faith and I didn't claim to be a Christian because I knew I wasn't walking the way necessarily that God had planned for me, but I didn't even know that there was a plan to believe in in the first place.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: I just always knew I was told he's got a plan for you, trust it.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: But it's like, what am I trusting?
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: What is the plan?
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: What is all of this?
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: So at the time of being sick, I hadn't talked about being a Christian or trying to pray or doing any of those things because with mental health running like so deep in my family of having a lot of issues with it, I used to get scared to pray because they always say people with mental health issues they just talk to themselves or they do this and they do that.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: And when you're not taught how to pray or what praying is, if you have a background of mental health that you're scared of, you're probably gonna be scared to pray because you're gonna be like, Who am I talking to?
- 17:17SPEAKER_02: Is God actually listening?
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: And you'll probably have all those questions, and it's okay to have them because I did have them at some point of being like who's listening?
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: But when I got to the point of being so scared and alone, I wasn't asking or really caring at that point, and I wasn't like, God, are you listening?
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: I just kept talking because I'm like, He's either listening or he's not, and I've got to try this because if I don't try it, then I'm never gonna know.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: So there was this moment that I remember probably around August right before my 30th birthday, and I had um had just this moment in my kitchen, and I was just sitting there, and I remember going in my bathroom and just bawling my eyes out and saying, like, God I help me fix this.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: Take like what you wanna take, take what you need to change my life, just don't take my son, like anything but my son.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: And it got to that point of just not caring anymore because life s felt so scary.
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: And with not knowing what was going on with my health, I felt like I kept going to doctor after doctor and they couldn't give me answers.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: Um, and that was right around my 30th birthday.
- 18:41SPEAKER_02: So turning 30 and having unanswered health issues and praying to God, just please don't take me from my son because my son can't handle that.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: And having that thought was enough to save me, save my life essentially.
- 18:59SPEAKER_02: Like gl things got scary, thoughts get scary, and when you feel like things keep going downhill, you're like, what's the point?
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: And there definitely is always a point.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: So September came.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: My me and Amber turned 30.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: If you didn't know, Amber and I both share the same birthday on September 3rd, not same years, but we have the same birthday and middle name.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: I love to tell that fact.
- 19:24SPEAKER_02: Oh birthday twins.
- 19:26SPEAKER_02: I tell everybody we're birthday twins.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: Um, but so nobody really knew that I was so set on changing my life around September, and I think looking back now about a year later and seeing how my life really looks within a year.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: Um, so now it's kind of on that year's anniversary.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Literally, basically.
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: That's awesome.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: It is, it's people's they always hear you can't change your life, people don't change, people are always the same, and I think that's projection from people, from people that don't want to break their own habits, or people that can't break their habits, so they tell other people people don't change, and it's usually because they can't change something in themselves, yeah, so they don't believe other people can really change their lives, or people that choose to go to Jesus have done something super bad, and now they're just like committed on it.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: And I think whatever anybody's reasoning is to walk with the Lord is their own personal choice, and definitely nobody needs no judgment for that.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Um, but so now my life today.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: Um I feel like this story was all over the place.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: No, it's not today.
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: I feel like I have a community, um, I have a beautiful life, and I think for a long time I didn't let myself live in my blessings that I have because I've had I had a rough upbringing, but it's not rough like people would expect.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: Like, you can't look at me and say, Oh, she's been through this, or she's been through that, or her family's been through whatever they've been through.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: It's not things necessarily people would know, and I definitely know today that that strength was because of God for the way that I have my family.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: Um, so I go to the journey in Newark for my church, and I've taken multiple people to my church today.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: I've taken family that I didn't necessarily have a connection with at this time last year.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: I was able to connect with them and men's relationships.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: I um a side story that I definitely missed in that process of getting sick was when I had got sick around right around my 30th birthday in September, I had also lost my jobs because of my health issues.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: I think that is a big thing that played into this.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: Um when I was sick, I lost all of my income.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: And being a single mother in today's world and And not having any income is probably one of the scariest things a mother could face.
- 22:05SPEAKER_02: And yet somehow I'm sitting here today and I own a business and have a beautiful life.
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: And I used to like lightheartedly say last year, God's not gonna make me and my kid homeless.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: He wouldn't do that.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: And like I was low-key joking, but like I really wasn't, and I was praying that so hard.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: Like, God, don't let me and my son be homeless.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: And it's not that we don't have family or people that could have helped us, but I think that that was my way and my heart of showing like God can do anything for you, but you have to let him and you have to believe it, and you have to change your life.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: He's not just gonna give you blessings, and I think as I got into my Bible and as I've learned and got closer to him, I've just got so much to be thankful for.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: Um, besides my business, money was never really a factor.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: My business dream cleaner was a vision that I had actually got from God last year when I was in the middle of working for my other cleaning comp for the other cleaning company that I worked for.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: I had seen a rainbow logo at a customer's house when I was cleaning, talking to a friend of mine about wanting to own a cleaning business and what I wanted my logo to look like and the name and all of these things.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And a rainbow had popped up right in front of me as I was dusting, and it was kind of just like fate right there, of being like, Okay, you're on the right, right track.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: And I think a lot of people get lost in what blessings can look like um with what your life looks like with Jesus.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's not about the material things for me because I look at like life now, and it's not that I necessarily have more than what I had last year, but I have peace in my heart.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: I have forgiveness for other people that I was able to be frustrated with, and that I didn't necessarily understand their choices, and I would get upset and like why it why am I angry?
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: Why am I this?
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: And I had to get to the point of surrendering it all to God and realizing my life matters and my son's life matters, and my peace and my happiness and joy and the goodness that I'm trying to spread in the world is really what matters.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: Um a few things that I'm just looking at now of like I had wrote a note in my notebook that I'm reading from on March 12th, and it says blessings because of Jesus.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: And as I look down the list, I just have not material things listed listed, but it's um trust in God's plan, a calm feeling in my heart and soul, forgiveness and mercy for others, and peace and acceptance of myself, and faith in the bigger purpose that God provides.
- 24:57SPEAKER_02: Um I can say last year I didn't have those things.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: I knew God was there, but I didn't know he could change my life.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: I didn't know you could get closer to him.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Um I always knew there was that how they say love is patient and love is kind, and I always knew to be a good person and be nice to people, except people don't judge people.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: But I think it's a lot deeper than that.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: And when we're doing that for other people, we definitely need to do it with ourselves and be kind to ourselves and love ourselves, um, be patient with ourselves and know that Jesus loves us.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: I really love that you touched on the you know, the blessings that Jesus gives us, you know, um, in your case, you know, from as we're talking about your testimony and from salvation and and you know your life after Jesus versus before, and you're talking about like all these blessings, and you know, I do think it's so frequent that people get caught up in in thinking about the blessings that are materialistic, right?
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: And as yes, obviously those are still miracles, right?
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: Like those are still very important, those are still beautiful.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: Um, but there are also other miracles that we don't see or that we we we take for granted.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: We don't actually hold that gratitude captive because it's not tangible.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: And so I think that that's really beautiful that you touched on not just you know things like now, granted, like not not just your business, right?
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: Not just physical, tangible things, not just the fact that he is providing money for you um every month and and he is faithful and he and he provides that.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: Um, but you know, also the fruit and the blessings that, like you said, aren't tangible, the forgiveness, right?
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: And I hate to like I feel like I'm quoting, I'm getting ready to quote the fruits of the spirit, but like, you know, like the goodness and the patience and the self-control and the kindness, like all of those things are blessings that you have through Jesus that you that aren't even that aren't even tangible.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: And when you look at your life, you know, from anybody's life, you know, I I I can speak for myself here too, or you look at your life before the Lord and and you know, whether you were somebody who didn't forgive easily or whether you were somebody who got angry easily or whatever, but that's also a beautiful blessing that now you because you have Jesus in your heart, you you can forgive and you're not quick to be angry and you know, all of those what do you call it, those things that you can't see.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's really where like the peace lies, because at the end of the day I could lose my car, I could lose my house, I could lose my business, it could all go away in a second, essentially, like disasters happen in today's world, and I think that that was a little side note of uh how crazy because I actually learned about spiritual w warfare in the last year, and I think the craziest part is the way the enemy of our faith plays a part in our mind of how strong it can get in us not realizing it because when I was getting close to God last year in September, I got so scared with my health, and I was like, is God bringing me closer to him and having me forgive these people because I'm gonna die?
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Like, does God want me to go to heaven?
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: And of course he wants me to go to heaven, but that's not why I was getting healthy, that's not why my life was getting better.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: But in my mind, I for a second had was so focused on the negative part of being like, Am I about to die?
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: That I couldn't see in that moment what was really going on.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: Like my heart was being pruned, everything was being prepared for where I was going, but I had to go through essentially broken down to nothing, and there's been times where I've had nothing in life where I've been just what's the point?
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: But there I promise there's always a point, and um there's always a point, and I think having the biggest thing with uh myself is just knowing that I can surrender it all to God, knowing I can pray for people.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: I was always the type to pray for the random people or the accidents that you'd hear or the tragedies and things.
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: But now when you realize like you're fighting with people in today's world or fighting with family, like sometimes it's out of your control, and you really can pray on it and lean on God during those things, and it's gonna be okay.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: Might not seem like it's gonna be okay.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: Um, I know I didn't think it was gonna be okay for a long time because moving to Delaware and thinking, oh, life's about to be peaches and cream, and then moving here and remembering, yes, I have siblings, yes, I have a mom and a stepdad, and yes, I have aunts and uncles and cousins, but they all have their own lives and they have struggles, and just like God has a plan for me, He has a plan for them as well, and sometimes those plans don't line up where you can feel like people don't care about you, but really we do all have things going on and struggles going on, and we can't get wrapped up on our in our own and think people don't care about you.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: So a community is definitely the biggest thing to have, I'd say.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: Um and as cliche as it says, of like being like you're never alone, you really aren't.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: It's not even if you might not feel like you have anybody, you do have somebody, whether it's one person or whether it's God, there's still enough to be here.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: I have to say this because I am proud so proud of you for it, but not only did you like because of your leap of faith of coming to Delaware, and because of your leap of faith and that prayer that you had crying in the bathroom, and because you know, you you come back to the Lord and and you come, you started, not just did you start coming back to church, um, but you took a step further, you got invested in church, you got connected with church, you you created a community of people who were, you know, like you were just saying, you know, that you weren't alone, like you you created those people that you submerged yourself in, and I think that's just so beautiful to see.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: And then you took it even step further, and now here you are.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna speak too much on it, but you know, you're involved in the church, and you're involved with changing now.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: Your salvation has changed these other people's lives in your life.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: Like you, you know, you help these middle school kids.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: I think is it middle school, right?
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, middle school, yeah.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: So you help these eighth-grade girls.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah, that's what I thought.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: I was making sure I get my factory.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: You help these eighth grade girls, and and you help with that, and you're involved with that, and you know, you take it a step further, and and you you have your ministry with Vance, and you're leading him to be in a life with Christ, and you're breaking those generational curses of of what a lot of people believe is okay, we go to church.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, cool, check that off the list.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: But you're teaching him how to have a relationship with the Lord, and you're teaching him what it's like to feel God's love, and you are bringing so much more people.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: My light just turned off, and I can't help a laugh.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Um, I have like an automatic timer in my eye in like in the room, and it just went off, and so like here we are in the middle of like sitting here recording the episode.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: I just hope you can envision this with us, and it just like goes black.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Anyway, um, yeah, that and like not just only that, but they're like you were, I think, mentioning earlier, there's people in your family that you've been reconnected to, that you have brought their children back to salvation.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: You have brought um so many people to salvation.
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, even your own mother you are bringing to salvation, and that is all by the glory of God and through your salvation that that is even all possible.
- 32:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and like that's the hard part because as you're like talking about things or as I talk about things, I realize like how much God really has done through me, and I think that's where a lot of us you probably hear people say, like it's so much bigger than you, or like life is bigger than you, or no one cares, or not no one cares, like in a bad way, but like the effect that one person makes on other people with one choice of like what they made.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: If Amber didn't choose to start a Bible study, I would have never got led to coming down here for a Bible study in August when my life just was like in the trenches and being like, What's the point?
- 33:33SPEAKER_02: And the guy was seeing was like, You need to go to Amber's Bible study, like you need you need Jesus.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: He he meant it in a smart way of being like, This girl needs Jesus, she needs help.
- 33:43SPEAKER_02: I really did, but um, it ended up being like a big blessing.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: And if Amber never did that, then I probably it's not saying I wouldn't be where I am today, but it's saying that I wouldn't be on the timeline that I'm in, and I do give all that credit to God because without us making those choices, they wouldn't happen.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: And now Amber has her Bible study and she's got her podcast, and I have the group that I help lead at church, and I just went on a um summer camp trip with my middle school with the middle school at church and the high schoolers, and my mom has came to church with me.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: My son has got baptized, Amber's daughter got dedicated.
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: Um, I believe didn't your mom just get baptized?
- 34:28SPEAKER_02: She did a couple months ago, yeah.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: Um, my aunt has come to church, my cousin brought um like ten of her friends to church for her 11th birthday party for the next day after her birthday party.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Like there's so much has happened because of one choice, and I think sometimes we don't realize as people and we're very hard on ourselves thinking we're not doing enough.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: But in God's eyes, we're doing what he needs us to do, and that's enough for him.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: Because if you have a willing and open heart to go and follow what you feel like he's telling you to do, then that's enough.
- 35:01SPEAKER_02: And that should be enough.
- 35:03SPEAKER_02: Because whether it's one person that you take to church or whether it's a hundred people that you get to Jesus, that's all he's trying to do.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: And just spread the good news and be a good person.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: That's like the my one goal in life is just be good and spread goodness in the world because there's enough evil and darkness, and enough people already feel like they're sad and alone, and we should never feel that way by ourselves.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: If you're at least sad and alone, lean on somebody during that time that can help you.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: Because I promise when you make one choice to better yourself, it's like a ripple effect.
- 35:41SPEAKER_02: Especially when you have God at the center of every choice that you're making, and you're making your main um mission is to make him happy.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: And you care about what Jesus thinks and how the world thinks, and life gets a lot easier.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: It doesn't necessarily get lighter, but it does get easier to navigate when you know you've got a whole Bible and community and people in this world to lean on when things aren't making sense.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for sure.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: I actually just lost my train of thought, so we're just gonna say whatever it wasn't that's okay.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: So let it go.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you pretty much said what I was thinking.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Um, I feel like we should.
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna start wrapping this up here because I feel like we could sit here and talk about the Lord and the glory of God forever.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: Um, I joke around and say, like, I fangirl over Jesus.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, there's those groupies like when you go to a concert, you know, I could sit here and be a groupie for Jesus for I used to call him my bestie Jesus when I was getting into my faith in the beginning.
- 36:41SPEAKER_02: And side note, I do have a lesion in my brain as well.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: That's cut I have a whole funny enough.
- 36:48SPEAKER_02: The funny part is how casual I am about it, and it kind of like wraps into this whole testimony, is because my some of my struggles are very big and scary that they're literally those god-sized problems where it's like that's a god-sized problem.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: Like, what can I do about it?
- 37:03SPEAKER_02: I had found out last November when I had gone to visit my mom's grave for the first time ever since she had passed after a year.
- 37:11SPEAKER_02: I went there to visit her because things just felt dark.
- 37:15SPEAKER_02: And when I was visiting her grave site, I had actually got a call from my primary doctor telling me I needed to go over my MRI results from my brain that they had found something on it, and I had found out I had a really big cystic lesion on my pineal gland, pineal, pineal, whatever.
- 37:33SPEAKER_02: Sorry, don't kill me.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: I don't know the how to say it.
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: In the center of my brain, I've got a big lesion, and when you hear cyst on your brain, that can be scary, but truthfully, it's in God's hands, and that's one of those.
- 37:46SPEAKER_02: If I can say it's in God's hands for a small big problem like that, I should be able to trust God with my little daily choices.
- 37:53SPEAKER_02: If I'm not gonna stress about a big bubble in my head, I do get it scanned again in November, so hopefully it shrunk because with it being in the center, it can't necessarily they can't get to it.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: Um, but that's too scary to think about, so I leave it in God's hands and I keep it pushing on my days and I try to be happy, and that's probably why I stress about small things in life.
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: Because why would I stress about my day going bad when I could stress about a cyst in my brain?
- 38:21SPEAKER_02: That doesn't make sense.
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: I feel like we c as all as women can relate to that in on some form of of on some form, you know, like whatever we're going through.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: We I feel like we can all attest that there's something bigger going on, but and and somehow that wraps up into us stressing over our everyday lives and how humbled we are, I can say, at least for myself, um, just very recently the Lord's been reminding me of that and saying, like, hey, look, look, look, look.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: You don't need to be stressed if the dishes don't get done because it's gonna be fine.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: And you know, that's a that's a good way to put it.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: That kind of, you know, I feel like it's humbling because you know it's it is like that, you know.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: You don't stress over the big things, you give that to the Lord on how he's gonna pay your next bill or how he's gonna handle your health test result, then you know, then yeah, then why are we not trusting him that we're not gonna have stress over the dishes being done?
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: Like that's so silly when you think of it that way.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: And and that's definitely like the biggest thing is reflecting and remembering that at every point in our life, probably that we all can remember is that we ha can look back and be like, we were stressed or worried.
- 39:27SPEAKER_02: And if you are following God and you are trusting his plan, you probably had that thought of being like, Oh crap, how am I gonna figure this out?
- 39:34SPEAKER_02: How is this gonna work out?
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: This is terrible.
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: And you can probably count about ten times if you're I'm 30 and we're pretty close to 30.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: So we can probably count about ten times that we've had that thought where we're like stressed beyond belief and God handled it, and we were able to figure out that situation.
- 39:53SPEAKER_02: So if he figured it out then and he provided then, why wouldn't he provide the rest?
- 39:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:58SPEAKER_02: And that's what I try to live by is he provided then, he's always provided, whatever it looks like, and he's gonna continue providing.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: And following his way from me, even if it's it's not the easy route.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: I will not r I understand sometimes why people don't necessarily do it.
- 40:15SPEAKER_02: It's hard, but nothing in life worth having is easy and you have to work for it, but the blessings that come with it are beautiful and worth it.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: So on that note, I'm gonna close us out with the verse which I can't think of exactly where it's at, so I'm just gonna recite it.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: Um, where God is the same yesterday, he is the same today, and he is the same forever.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think that is such a a great cliche verse, but such a great verse for for today's topic.
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: Um so yeah, I'm gonna close us out in prayer um before we guys all go, because if you guys are a returning listener, um or whether you're new, I just always have to pray us out um before we go.
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: So dear Heavenly Father, I just thank you so much for this opportunity.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: Your presence was just felt so much, and I just thank you so much for just this opportunity to listen to her story.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: I'll be honest, you know, even though I um she's in my family, and even though I I've you know watched her go through life, there's just been things that have been just brought on my heart that I didn't even know before.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: And so we just were brought closer together in our faith, and I just absolutely love that and love that you've given us this opportunity, and I just pray for every single listener right now that her story encouraged them, and however it encouraged them.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: Um, I just pray that you know you spoke to them and that her story spoke to them.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Um, we know that the most powerful way to speak to people is by giving our testimonies, and that's why it's so important that we just share our testimony to everyone that we know.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: Um, and is because it is the most powerful way to um to come to salvation and um to really just show your power and to show your glory.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: And so I just pray over every listener that they are protected wherever they are.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: I just I have to intercede on their behalf and um just rebuke the devil in the name of Jesus that you know he any of the fear, any of the doubt, any of the anxiety, we just rebuke that in Jesus' name.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: And we just pray your protection, we pray your peace, we pray your love, your unity over them today.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: Wherever they are, I feel like a lot of them are always telling me that they're on the ride, whether they're in the car or whether they're at work or at home or wherever that is that they are, I just pray a protection over them, that you will protect them at every step they take.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: Um, amen.
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: Amen.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: Um, I have to do one more prayer uh because it is so fitting for the situation.
- 42:25SPEAKER_01: Um, I want to just always offer this um that if you haven't ever, if you're thinking you've listened to this whole episode and you're like, you know, I don't know if I've prayed salvation myself.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: Um, and I love this story and I, you know, know Jesus and I believe in Jesus, but hey, I don't think I've ever actually given my heart to Jesus myself.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: Or maybe you have, and it's just been a really long time, and you're not like, hey, you know what?
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: I have been kind of, you know, coming back to Jesus, but I don't think I've ever actually told him that I let him in my heart, and it's been a really long time since I've done that.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: Then I want to open up that opportunity for you today, right here, right now, wherever you are, to say, you know what, I choose you today.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: And so I'm just gonna close this out in prayer.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: Um, and I encourage you to, whether you say it out loud with me, you say it silently in your heart.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: Um, it's completely up to you.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: Um, but I want to lead us out with that prayer.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: So, dear Father, I just we're so I'm so sorry for living my life without you.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I just repent for sinning against you and and and not walking with you.
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: And I just really do believe and I do trust that you are Jesus and that you died on the cross for my sins.
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: Um, and I want to choose you today to invite you into my heart from this day forward, that I will choose you, that I will open my heart and I will truly let you in, Jesus, that um I will choose you to do the today, and that I will choose you to do life with, and that I ask you to change my heart forever, and I ask you to change my life today, and just help me grow my faith closer to you.
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 43:51SPEAKER_02: Amen.
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: This sermon right here reminded me because this one is one that I have on my board when I made the decision.
- 44:01SPEAKER_02: I just walked up into it.
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: And it was the Sermon on the Mount.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: And it just reminded me to touch on it real quick.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: Um because it was just talking about like God blessing people and like what happened to it.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: But specifically, it had just been it had been where is it?
- 44:19SPEAKER_02: There's a part in here.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Matthew chapter five.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: Hold on, where are you?
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: I was looking at the whole thing, but there were just pieces in here that it had hit me of like taught it was talking about God's blessings with it.
- 44:30SPEAKER_02: But specific things that I was going through last year were with yeah, it's the whole thing, but I just went picking pieces from it because even right there, God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
- 44:48SPEAKER_02: Be happy about it, be very glad, for a great reward awaits you in heaven.
- 44:52SPEAKER_02: And remember the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: Um one of my biggest struggles before Jesus was necessarily when people would um make me feel a certain way or like feeling like they had did wrong.
- 45:07SPEAKER_02: And in my eyes I knew they did wrong, but I felt like you're not about to get away with that.
- 45:11SPEAKER_02: I would like to try and take things like into my hand or be upset, and if if they were wrong, I needed to tell them they were wrong.
- 45:19SPEAKER_02: And I can fully say I've put that into God's hands and know that the thing where they say let God fight your bot your battles, I do.
- 45:29SPEAKER_02: And before that, I was trying to fight my own battles.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: And anybody I felt like was gonna cross me, I was I had a very slick mouth, and now God the biggest lesson God taught me was to know when to shut up and stop talking.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: To be so frank, it was like shut up, just shut up, to be like so serious.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: No, I'm not it's funny, but it's not because I've been there too, where the Lord's like, Amber, stop talking right now.
- 45:56SPEAKER_02: And you just keep talking, and then it it makes it worse in the end, and I can say God fights my battles for me, and then you do see necessarily in the end where he did bless you out of it from being quiet.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: Choose to be quiet sometimes.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: Yes, there is a verse, and I just I I'm thinking of it, but I can't think of exactly where it's at.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: It says, Um Oh my gosh, I'm drawing a blank.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: Come on, Lord, help me.
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: Send a message in a bottle.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: This would be the time.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: Um, he's talking about basically how the tongue uh the one that's coming to that the Lord's giving me is that the tongue can speak life or death, depending on, you know, the tongue has life or death.
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: But that's not the one I'm thinking of.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: Um the one where no, somebody who talks will somebody who talks more will die faster.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: Somebody who keeps his mouth shut, some a wise man who keeps his mouth shut lives longer.
- 46:46SPEAKER_01: Um crap, I really can't think of where it's at, and that's driving me crazy.
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm gonna do?
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna close this out and um I will I will add it in the show notes for you guys um if you're curious on that verse.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go find that in my Bible when I'm done.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: But thank you guys so much for listening.
