- 0:10Hello and welcome. You're listening to Galaxy
- 0:12Crashes, the Busted and McFly podcast.
- 0:15The only podcast where the worlds of Busted and McFly come
- 0:18together. Hosted by us 2 mums who still
- 0:21haven't emotionally recovered from the naughties.
- 0:25I'm Shan. And I'm Tay and today we have
- 0:28our usual this or that. Lost Songs of the Naughties is
- 0:31back with an absolute tune. We are talking all things regret
- 0:36with McFly song Unsaid Things in Song of the Week.
- 0:40Oh yeah, this is 1 all about the things we never said, the
- 0:44moments we held back, and the words we wish we'd spoken and
- 0:47the ones we maybe probably shouldn't have said.
- 0:51And honestly, if you grew up in the naughties, this hit hard
- 0:54because that era was full of big feelings and absolutely no
- 0:58emotional regulation whatsoever. I remember it well.
- 1:01Yes, so this is actually so true.
- 1:04But before we get into it, how has your week been?
- 1:08Oh, it's. Been shocking.
- 1:12I mean, we're recording this on a Wednesday this week.
- 1:15We normally record on a Monday, so normally we talk about the
- 1:17week before, but this week as in Monday and Tuesday we've been
- 1:21OK. But like last week, awful.
- 1:24I had sickness bug, Molly had the sickness bug and then I got
- 1:28the sickness bug and I swear down I did not move for like a
- 1:31week. I was just so gross.
- 1:33It was awful. Had to bail on work, literally
- 1:37didn't do. I didn't go to work at all last
- 1:39week. The three I took three days off.
- 1:42It was so bad. I spent most of my time just in
- 1:45bed or on the sofa, just rotting away, so it wasn't good.
- 1:48But you know, Silver Linings and all.
- 1:51I've binged nearly two seasons of One Tree Hill in a week so.
- 1:55We do have that. I'm still on episode 4.
- 1:57Oh, I'm. If I am like so deep now.
- 2:01If that shows you how different our weeks have been, I'm still
- 2:04on episode 4. I love that.
- 2:06So that's so funny. I mean, I'm sure you'll have
- 2:08time where you'll catch up eventually, but it's it's been a
- 2:11big week for One Tree Hill. It's I'm I'm full in my Lucas
- 2:15and Brooke Davis season 2 phase. You know, like when he's in love
- 2:19with her, but she doesn't know and Oh my God, it's great.
- 2:22Absolutely loving it. It's so good.
- 2:24But yeah, that's pretty much the highlight of my week.
- 2:26Other than that, I did go to the beach today, which was really
- 2:29lovely because the sun came out. Oh yeah, so excited are we for
- 2:34the clocks to go forward next week because I am so ready for
- 2:37it. Is that next week?
- 2:39Next Sunday. Oh my goodness.
- 2:42I know I can't wait. I'm actually going to use.
- 2:44It does. That mean when I'm in Cornwall,
- 2:46when I'm with you, I get an extra in bed?
- 2:48It it, I think it's actually not an extra hour.
- 2:50I think we lose an hour because it's.
- 2:52The clocks go. Forward.
- 2:55Yeah, the clocks go forward, but I'm going to use it as an excuse
- 2:59to start putting Molly to bed earlier because the moment she
- 3:03goes to bed at 7:30, but she never goes to sleep until like
- 3:068. So I'm going to start putting
- 3:07her to bed at 6:30 so that she's asleep by like 7, half seven at
- 3:10least. So.
- 3:12That's. What we're going to do, going to
- 3:13use it of that, but yeah, yeah. So it's been a nice day.
- 3:15We went to the beach today with our our little friend Milo and
- 3:19his mum Chelsea. And we picked some sea glass and
- 3:23had a picnic on the beach and some ice cream.
- 3:24And it was really, really nice. And it really felt like spring.
- 3:27So yes, a very enjoyable day, but not a great week overall.
- 3:31How have you been? Yeah, my week's been all right.
- 3:36Thanks. Like, nothing really to write
- 3:38home about. Work's been really hard.
- 3:41I'm not going to lie. It's been dire.
- 3:44I've been like Mia because of work.
- 3:48But the sun is shining, and it's impossible to be in a bad mood
- 3:51when the sun's shining so. Does make it better.
- 3:53It really does make it better. It does.
- 3:55Yeah, I mean, it's not true. I can be in a bad mood when the
- 3:58sun is shining, but I'd rather be miserable in the sunshine
- 4:00than in the rain. Do you know what I mean?
- 4:01Oh. God, I yeah, I definitely get
- 4:02that. Completely would much rather be
- 4:05miserable in the sunshine, which is exactly what happened today.
- 4:08We got home from school and I was like absolutely knackered,
- 4:13about to fall asleep on the sofa.
- 4:15And the girls were like, can we have a picnic outside?
- 4:17And I was like, do you know what?
- 4:18We're going to go and have an ice cream at the park.
- 4:21So I I won motherhood today because they were like best mom
- 4:26ever. We're going to have ice cream
- 4:28for tea, but actually I just wanted to be outside.
- 4:33Yeah, because the sun was out. Exactly.
- 4:35Yeah. I love that.
- 4:36That sounds so fun. That's it.
- 4:39So we've both, we've both been on the ice cream ice cream
- 4:41journey today. Then because we did the same, we
- 4:43had ice cream. And so I've so and I, Oh my God,
- 4:46literally, I love buying a 2 scoop and then you can get scoop
- 4:49for Molly and a scoop for me and she eats like half a scoop.
- 4:51So I get 1 1/2 scoops. But I don't feel too bad around
- 4:56because like you know, I actually only got 1 scoop for
- 4:58myself. But you know, we give this half
- 5:01scoop was free gum half gum. Exactly.
- 5:04Well, Arya had her first cornetto today and let me tell
- 5:07you, she was playing with excitement.
- 5:11There was a bit of chocolate at the bottom of the phone.
- 5:14That is the best bit though. I'm sorry.
- 5:16She was like. She was like, oh.
- 5:17More chocolate. I was like, that is so cute.
- 5:21You know, when you buy like the cheap version of Cornetto from
- 5:23like Lidl or something, and then you get to the bottom and it's
- 5:25not that there's nothing there and you're like, it's, it's
- 5:27actually devastating. Yeah, well, actually this is our
- 5:33little corner shop near us. They only sell really expensive
- 5:37stuff. I don't know why.
- 5:39They're not a very like, they're not fancy, they're like a spa or
- 5:43premier or something like that. But I think so they could sell
- 5:46it at a higher price. So they had the real deal today
- 5:51because Mummy was too exhausted to fight.
- 5:58I mean, Cornetto is a premium ice cream, isn't it?
- 6:01Let's face it. So you know, there's there's a
- 6:03treat for everyone. It just it just reminds me
- 6:07though, having ice cream when it's cold, it just reminds me
- 6:09that it's not that far away until it will be having ice
- 6:12cream and it will be hot. I'll be wearing AT shirt and
- 6:15shorts and I'll have sun cream on and it's just around the
- 6:19corner. It's time for this or that.
- 6:24You know the drill. We give each other two options
- 6:26and we choose them and explain why.
- 6:28So I'm going to go first this week and we've I know we've got
- 6:30a couple each. Are we sort of taking turns?
- 6:32We'll go me, then you, me. Then you sounds.
- 6:34Good, we'll do a, we'll chuckle. Brothers it.
- 6:36Yeah. Chuckle brothers it.
- 6:38OK, so relating to this week's Song of the Week, which is
- 6:43Unsaid Things by McFly, I've chosen a few relating similarly
- 6:47to it, but also I have a couple of nostalgic naughties ones too.
- 6:50So #1 is saying how you really feel or pretending that you
- 6:55don't care. Pretending you don't care.
- 6:58I thought I thought you'd be that one.
- 7:00Did I answer that too fast? I'm way too anxious to say how I
- 7:04feel. Are you joking?
- 7:05That's. So funny.
- 7:08Actually being honest with my emotions.
- 7:11No with. Anyone when it comes to how you
- 7:14feel about the stuff, it's so difficult, isn't it?
- 7:16I would like to say that I say how I feel, but also sometimes I
- 7:20am the opposite. So that's a really difficult one
- 7:22for me. But I'd like to say, say how you
- 7:23feel. Go on then, your turn.
- 7:25I, I think I say how I feel to like, like if there was a
- 7:30situation, I would tell you how I feel.
- 7:33Oh, different people. But I wouldn't tell the
- 7:34situation situation how I feel. I get you.
- 7:38I absolutely get you. I think it depends who you're
- 7:39talking to as well. Yeah, definitely, definitely.
- 7:43OK. My first one is a good old
- 7:46bedroom karaoke. I'm talking hair brushes as
- 7:51microphones, Nice with your posters and your teddy bears as
- 7:54your audience. Like Lizzie McGuire style.
- 7:57Love that. Like Lizzie McGuire.
- 7:59Or gazing out of a window on a long trip, pretending you're in
- 8:02a music video. Oh.
- 8:03I'm so easy for me. I love staring out of a wet
- 8:08window, you know, like when the drain drops are trickling down
- 8:11and like mouthing the words to a song and you can like see your
- 8:14reflection a little bit in the window and you're like,
- 8:17actually, I am in a music video right now.
- 8:19That's I love that. Definitely.
- 8:21Also, anywhere can be karaoke. Doesn't have to be a bedroom.
- 8:25True, I could do it. That is very true. #2 is writing
- 8:30it in a diary or typing it as an MSN away message.
- 8:35Do you remember those? Interesting.
- 8:38So I feel like I know what I want to say, but it's actually
- 8:42not accurate to me at all. OK.
- 8:45I want to say writing it in your diary, but I'm going to tell
- 8:49you, I think I have got about 20, maybe more Diaries that I
- 8:55have started when I was a child that I've written one page in
- 9:01thinking I'm going to be a diary writer.
- 9:05I would be like, yeah, I'm going to be that girl that writes in
- 9:08her diary. I'm going to hide it in a bloody
- 9:12box under my bed with a lock. I'm going to be that girl.
- 9:16No, yeah, no, I'm. I was not that girl at all.
- 9:22I was actually when Facebook first started coming out, I was
- 9:27that person that everyone hates. It would be like sad.
- 9:30Shannon is feel Shannon is feeling sad and then people will
- 9:33be like, what's up? And they'll be like.
- 9:36Nothing, I'm fine. Don't worry about it, I'm fine.
- 9:39DM me. DM me.
- 9:41DM me right. Let me tell you, I hate those
- 9:43kinds of people now, but back then I loved a bit of attention.
- 9:47Oh yeah. God, yeah.
- 9:49When it came to things like that, if I was feeling sad, I
- 9:51wanted to talk to somebody but I didn't want to tell them I
- 9:53needed to talk to them. So I just wanted somebody to
- 9:56come out of the out of the woodwork on their own.
- 9:58Yeah, exactly, Even though it needed a little nudge now and
- 10:02then. So yeah, I want to say right in
- 10:04your diary, but I was definitely a type it as an MSN away
- 10:07message. OK, I am exactly the same in
- 10:10that I so desperately wanted to be in a diary girl to the point
- 10:14where I have so many journals that I bought and like you said,
- 10:17I've written like one page in and then just not type anything
- 10:20else in it and just end up trucking it away or using it as
- 10:22scrap paper because what I've got nothing else to use it.
- 10:25For literally. I would have been MSN away
- 10:28message as well for sure. Nice.
- 10:31My next one's a bit about MSN. Oh actually very much MSN.
- 10:36So my next one is nudging someone to get their attention
- 10:39on Ms. Oh yes, Oh my God. Or appealing off, peering
- 10:44offline and then on again, and then off again, and then on
- 10:47again. So that they would notice you.
- 10:50Yeah, so you're like popping up in the corner of their screen.
- 10:53I used to hate being nudged because it would shake your
- 10:57whole screen. Do you remember?
- 10:59And it would just like your whole screen would like vibrate.
- 11:02It was just the weirdest thing in the world.
- 11:03And obviously when we're talking, I can still.
- 11:05Hear the noise? Yeah, exactly.
- 11:07We're talking about it on the computer because nobody had
- 11:10phones back then. So this wasn't like on your
- 11:12smartphone. This was on like your Windows
- 11:142005 that made a clunk noise when you turned it on and like
- 11:19had a huge like setups like computer base next to it that
- 11:23made like the loudest noise ever when you actually turned it on.
- 11:27It was not using it on your smartphone.
- 11:29So it wasn't fun having somebody nod you, but I was definitely a
- 11:33nudger. I was not an on again and again
- 11:35person. I was the nudger.
- 11:37I wouldn't. Like, I love that you hated it.
- 11:39Hated it. But I would only ever do it to
- 11:42people that did it to me. Do you know what I mean?
- 11:44OK, I wouldn't have gone out of my way to do it to somebody who
- 11:47never nudged me. But if you nudge me, you better
- 11:49believe I'm nudging you back, you bitch.
- 11:51Well, my answer to this is appearing offline and on again
- 11:57and off. I do that all the time.
- 11:58OK #3 sending the risky text or deleting it and spiralling
- 12:04because I've been both. Deleting it and spiralling.
- 12:09I mean, that's a really stupid question for me to ask you,
- 12:11because that was an obvious answer.
- 12:13He's amazing. Yeah.
- 12:14I I think I send the risky text to my notes app and to my best
- 12:18friends. Yeah.
- 12:20And then I don't ever send it to the person it's meant for.
- 12:24Yeah, I get that. I definitely get that.
- 12:29It's time for Song of the Week. And this week we are talking
- 12:33about Unsaid Things by McFly. Oh, yes.
- 12:42So a little context for those of you that may not have heard
- 12:45this, if you haven't heard it, where the hell have you been?
- 12:47It's on their first album. This song is from their debut
- 12:50album, Room on the 3rd Floor, which came out in 2004.
- 12:53And it's definitely one of their more emotional, mellow tracks on
- 12:57this album, Yeah. Exactly, it's all about regret,
- 13:01looking back on relationships and realising there were things
- 13:03that you never said and now it's too late.
- 13:07And that is such a universal feeling because everyone has had
- 13:11at least one moment where they think, why didn't I just say it?
- 13:14We were just talking about this about me, so.
- 13:16Yeah, literally what? Worse.
- 13:18Like when you said the completely wrong thing instead
- 13:20of what you actually needed to say.
- 13:22Yes, 100% that's happened so many times and I think as well
- 13:26this song itself is a bit weird. The second verse, the lyrics get
- 13:30a bit strange, but they still feel quite honest.
- 13:33And they're not like just dramatic for the sake of it.
- 13:35They're like, this is the best way I could describe it.
- 13:38They're like quietly sad. Like they're weird, but they're
- 13:43quietly sad. Like when you actually really
- 13:45think about what he's saying, it's like, oh, that's actually
- 13:47quite sad and I feel quite bad for you, but it's just weird.
- 13:52I love that quietly sad. And I think I do think that's
- 13:55what makes it hit harder. Like it's not explosive.
- 13:58It's like more reflective. Absolutely.
- 14:01And I think that's something that was really different from a
- 14:04lot of the, like, naughty songs because the naughties was all of
- 14:07our big emotions and drama, whereas this is more like lying
- 14:11in your bed at night overthinking your entire life.
- 14:15Yeah, which, let's be honest, was also a cool 2000s
- 14:18experience. Oh God yeah 100%.
- 14:20If you didn't do that, then were you really alive in the
- 14:23naughties? Really a naughty gal.
- 14:26Exactly. So I think perhaps we should
- 14:28start with our ratings. Do you want to go first?
- 14:33Yeah, OK. My rating for this song is
- 14:38probably A5. OK, Explain.
- 14:44It's OK. Yeah, it's OK.
- 14:47It's an all right song. I think it's better than like, I
- 14:53rate it higher than than the first half of the album because
- 14:58it's just, it's not overplayed. I'm not bored of the song.
- 15:01It's a bit of a boring song, but I'm not bored of it.
- 15:04Do you know what I mean? Does that make sense?
- 15:06Yeah, I get you. It's, it's a bit, I don't know,
- 15:11it just it falls flat. And I think that definitely, I
- 15:15think it coming directly after Down by the Lake definitely has
- 15:19something to do with that when you listen to the album from
- 15:22beginning to end coming. Straight up.
- 15:25Such a yeah. Coming straight after such a
- 15:28good song definitely gives it like a bit of a negative impact
- 15:33because it is a bit of a flat song.
- 15:36It's yeah, it's boring, but I'm not bored of it.
- 15:38It's a 5. It's OK.
- 15:40OK, I get that. I feel like that's quite a good
- 15:42way to explain it is boring, but I'm not bored of it.
- 15:45You don't overhear it because it's never played.
- 15:48I'm going to get, I'm going to give it a four.
- 15:50I think I'm even 11 lower than you.
- 15:53I think. Yeah, it's just a bit weird.
- 15:57Yeah. Just a bit weird.
- 16:00I think the the IT gets really weird when it's just.
- 16:04When she's talking about a baby, yeah.
- 16:06She's pregnant. It's so weird.
- 16:09She's. Pregnant with a baby?
- 16:10She's not pregnant with a dog. Yeah, now she and it's now she's
- 16:14got pregnant. It's not she is pregnant.
- 16:17She's got pregnant with her bear baby.
- 16:21Yeah. And now that she's getting
- 16:24married, I'm in misery. I love that.
- 16:27It's like now she's got pregnant with a baby.
- 16:29It feels like she's slipping away from Yeah, it she's she's
- 16:31gone. She's not having someone else's
- 16:34child. She's having someone else's
- 16:36child, you fucking. I also think that the lyrics are
- 16:40very strange. I don't love the sort of like
- 16:43rhyming scheme and like, I don't really love like the rhythm of
- 16:48it. I feel like it's very.
- 16:52I don't. Know it's it's very naughties in
- 16:54the fact that if there's not enough syllables in a song,
- 16:57they'll just elongate a a word. Yeah, or they say it really
- 17:00fast. I still got so many unsaid
- 17:03things that I want to say you. Gotta say yeah.
- 17:06Do you know? What I mean like and I just
- 17:08can't wait another day because they're doing it like it just
- 17:12doesn't work. I wish she knew.
- 17:14I still wait up. I still wait up.
- 17:16Wondering if she will Remember Me, but there's no way for me to
- 17:21know. Oh, it doesn't even fit.
- 17:24Like the last line doesn't fit. It doesn't rhyme with anything.
- 17:28It doesn't like fit in. It feels like it's just a
- 17:31sentence they added on at the end because they felt like it
- 17:34didn't. The chorus wasn't finished.
- 17:37And then obviously Danny's because he works out a lot.
- 17:42There's not much that he ain't got.
- 17:46And now I'm missing the plot along with her.
- 17:49I mean, dude, she's already gone.
- 17:51Can I just she's having a child and she's married.
- 17:54Oh, OK. I was just about to say, are you
- 17:56telling me that she's losing the plot?
- 17:58But then you just you clarified it's.
- 18:00It's like he's losing the plot along with losing her.
- 18:04Yeah, yeah, yeah, along with those.
- 18:06And then then there's that bridge along.
- 18:08With hers and she's losing as well.
- 18:10There's the bridge where TomTom sings and I want her to know
- 18:14before she's married and has her baby that I need her.
- 18:20So is he. Is he expecting her to do stop,
- 18:23don't get married and well you can have your baby but I'll be
- 18:26the step daddy to it because I need you.
- 18:30So bizarre. It's a really strange song, but
- 18:33equally, when you think about it on a deeper level, if this was a
- 18:36real scenario, it'd be really brutal.
- 18:38Do you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 18:41Well yeah, yeah I agree it would be brutal, but also in a real
- 18:46normal scenario, surely you would have gotten over her
- 18:51enough by now. Instead of like this.
- 18:53Happened last week. Yeah.
- 18:55Although he does say I've. Grown up, yeah, I've seven years
- 18:59have gone, I've grown up, but she's moved on and somehow I'm
- 19:02still holding on to her. Somehow, what the fuck?
- 19:06She's got a baby in a new man. Like get over it.
- 19:10It's really sad, but I don't know what's sada the fact that
- 19:14you're pining after this girl or that you're pining after this
- 19:19girl after seven years. Can we also just note the second
- 19:24line of the song, which is the first line?
- 19:26This girl that moved just up the road from me, she had the nicest
- 19:29legs that I've ever seen. OK, so this song is all about
- 19:35emotional regret and how you still care so much about this
- 19:38girl after seven years. She's.
- 19:40A bit though. But she's got the best legs I've
- 19:42ever seen. She's such a weird line.
- 19:46She had the nicest legs I'd ever seen.
- 19:49Do you know what's really funny? As well as I always feel like I
- 19:51get a bit giddy when I hear Tom sing lines about people being
- 19:55attractive or fit or sexy or like if he has any lines that
- 19:58are a bit naughty, I'm like, oh, Tom, like, stop it.
- 20:02Whereas like with Danny, it's like I could almost like accept
- 20:05and expect it a little bit with Danny, but with Tom, I always
- 20:08get like a bit giddy. What?
- 20:10What's that line? It's in a song on Radioactive.
- 20:17Pour yourself a coffee, put your clothes back on and tell me your
- 20:20name. Yes.
- 20:22Sorry, Tom. Yes, Tom.
- 20:24Sorry, Thomas. That's a freaking Tommy boy.
- 20:28Sing it louder mate, he's got a couple of lines.
- 20:34Back on and tell me your name. He's got a couple of lines that
- 20:37are a bit like, OK, Tom, calm down.
- 20:40Do you know that song that reminds me of Actually, I know,
- 20:43I know. We're going completely off topic
- 20:45because this is a completely different song, completely
- 20:47different album. But that line, Pour yourself a
- 20:50coffee, put your clothes back on and tell you, tell me your name.
- 20:52Do you know what reminds me of? Reminds me of last five years?
- 20:58Oh, Jamie. Yeah, yeah, very true.
- 21:01It reminds me of something that he would sing or say or.
- 21:04It's a very Jamie. Jamie Wellerstein, definitely.
- 21:07But I'm not going to lie, I'd rather hear Tom say it.
- 21:11Oh, Jeremy Jordan. Oh, Jeremy Jordan.
- 21:14Yeah. Completely, 100%, absolutely.
- 21:17I don't know. I I don't know who I would
- 21:19choose. I don't think I could choose
- 21:21between the two of them. No.
- 21:22It'd be Tom. It'd be Tom every time.
- 21:24As much as I love Jeremy Jordan, it would be Tom.
- 21:27Lovely Tom I. Love that for you I'd say Jeremy
- 21:29Jordan. You would, definitely.
- 21:32But what what about Jeremy Jordan versus Danny Jones?
- 21:38Oh, that's hard. That's something I'm not willing
- 21:42to answer until I'm on growth. Thank you.
- 21:45I'll give you a few glasses of wine next week or something.
- 21:49Next weekend when the kids have gone to bed, a couple of glasses
- 21:54of wine and I'll ask you again. I love it.
- 21:58Absolutely. So, you know, overall, it's not
- 22:00a bad song. It's just not a great song.
- 22:03It's not boring, but it's it's boring, but it's I'm not bored
- 22:07of it. It's just OK.
- 22:08Yeah, we would love to know what you guys think of unsaid things.
- 22:13Please let us know in the comments or feel free to head
- 22:15over to our Instagram or our TikTok and send us a little
- 22:18message. We like hearing what you think
- 22:20about these songs too. And actually, some of you have
- 22:22got very similar opinions to us, but some of you have very
- 22:25different opinions and we are here for it.
- 22:27So if you want to share, you know where to find us.
- 22:32You guys absolutely loved the Naughties Lost Songs section the
- 22:36first week with the Queen that is Hilary Duff.
- 22:39So we hope you're prepared for another female's naughties
- 22:43legend. Oh yeah, this week we are
- 22:46talking about naughty songs that feel like they've been slightly
- 22:50forgotten but absolutely defined the era.
- 22:55And I'm really sorry, but I had this down for last week.
- 22:58We chose Hilary Duff because she's so current right now.
- 23:01But this song, when I think of naughties nostalgia and powerful
- 23:04women from the naughties, this is the song I this is the song I
- 23:08hear every time. So we are starting with leave
- 23:12brackets. Get Out by JoJo.
- 23:25How old was she when she released this?
- 23:27She was 13, literally singing with the emotional devastation
- 23:34of somebody who's been divorced twice.
- 23:35She was 13 years old. What on earth?
- 23:40How? How has she got the emotional
- 23:42capacity for that when I don't even have the emotional capacity
- 23:44to ring a hairdressers? Like are you joking?
- 23:49Literally if it's if, if somewhere doesn't have an online
- 23:53chat service, that's it, I'm gone.
- 23:55I don't understand. Produce this song at 13.
- 23:58Literally, I don't understand how like where this thirteen
- 24:03years old and I was a very big JoJo fan.
- 24:06I loved her album. We'll get to that as well, but
- 24:10there's a couple of albums for that JoJo did that I love.
- 24:14But this album itself actually came out in 2002.
- 24:18Sorry, 2004. So it came out the same year
- 24:21that Room on the 3rd Floor came out, which is absolutely hard.
- 24:26There was absolutely no holding back with this song either.
- 24:30Like I feel like there's no level of like subtlety.
- 24:34It was literally just like, get out right now.
- 24:37It's the end of you and me, babe.
- 24:39Do you know what I mean? The complete the complete
- 24:42opposite of unsaid things. Literally.
- 24:46Sometimes, to be honest, though, that's the energy we needed.
- 24:49Yeah, we need complete. I agree.
- 24:51I completely agree. And I think what's interesting
- 24:53is that the contrast between songs like that, like where
- 24:57everything is said in that moment, and then songs like
- 25:02Unsaid Things, where everything is is realised just maybe too
- 25:05late. Seven years later, you know,
- 25:07when she's married and had a baby, it's too late, you know?
- 25:11So Jojo's actually just released a new song with Craig David.
- 25:16I don't know whether you've heard it.
- 25:19When naughties meet naughties. Literally it's called in it with
- 25:23you and it came out and whereas the I think it was the end of
- 25:27last year, it came out middle last year.
- 25:30I think it was last summer. I.
- 25:31Haven't heard it actually. So I've only just seen it
- 25:34online, I've not heard of it at all but I saw it last couple of
- 25:37days. I saw it and it's actually
- 25:39really quite good, but the music videos a bit cringy.
- 25:44They're like. Cringey.
- 25:45Craig David No. They're like holding hands and
- 25:47singing to each other, but you can tell that they're not
- 25:49comfortable like that. They don't.
- 25:51You can tell that they're not in love, but they're trying to look
- 25:54like they're in love with that mix.
- 25:55I'm going to watch it straight after we.
- 25:57Record this so good. Sounds like my kind of comedy.
- 26:01Exactly, but it is quite a good song in itself.
- 26:04But shall we have a think about some of Jojo's other bangers as
- 26:08well as Leave Get Out? So my favourite part of Leave
- 26:14Get Out is the backing vocals. I don't know whether you
- 26:17remember them very, very well, but it's the background.
- 26:21A lot of the time she you can hear her in the background going
- 26:25who? Why leave?
- 26:28Waste of time. I love it.
- 26:31I love it, I love it. It's the best part of the song.
- 26:37Because she does that sometimes. When I'm listening to it, I just
- 26:40sing. Do that, do that.
- 26:42My favourite bit is she says. I think she says loser.
- 26:48Why the background? I don't know what.
- 26:53Could you imagine, could you imagine being in that booth with
- 26:56a 13 year old shouting that? On my phone.
- 27:00Oh my God, I can't wait for our next karaoke session because
- 27:02what I was Why has this never been sung at karaoke?
- 27:05It's the best. So true.
- 27:07We try and belt define gravity instead.
- 27:09That's why. I know.
- 27:10And then we ruin our voices and we Can't Sing any more karaoke
- 27:12songs or everybody hates us because all we sing is McFly and
- 27:17we harmonise all the time and people are just sing the song
- 27:20normally for God's sake. Yeah, just hug the mic.
- 27:24Oh my goodness, it's so. I appreciate JoJo in so many
- 27:28lights. I think that her lyrics got a
- 27:30lot better over time, and I'll talk about her second album in a
- 27:34minute, but I think this song is actually so teen naughty
- 27:41nostalgia. The lyrics tell me why you're
- 27:44looking so confused when I'm the one who didn't know the truth.
- 27:47How could you ever be so cold to go behind my back and call my
- 27:50friend? Boy, you must have gone and
- 27:52bumped your head because you left her number on your phone.
- 27:56You fucking idiot. That's basically what she's
- 27:58saying. You're an idiot.
- 28:00Stupid, are you? Why?
- 28:04Oh my God exactly loser. But I think her her vocals are
- 28:11actually unreal. She is.
- 28:14Such an. Underrated artist because she
- 28:18does riffs like you have never believed.
- 28:20And can we talk about her high notes?
- 28:22You know that she does get out like that, that like at the very
- 28:28end of, but it's like proper high and she's like belting it
- 28:31like you've never heard before. And she does loads of like
- 28:35little riffs all the way through that are just absolutely
- 28:37Immaculate. I just think she is such a good
- 28:41artist. But for me, it's definitely the
- 28:43little background, get out, leave right now.
- 28:51It's just so good. I love it.
- 28:54Anyway, I don't know whether you remember any other JoJo songs.
- 28:58Can you remember? Any I used to be a really big
- 29:01JoJo fan, so I remember. So I there's two songs that when
- 29:10I think of JoJo, I don't think of leave.
- 29:12I think of these two songs and it's too Little Too late, Banger
- 29:18and Baby, It's You. Oh, I love them so much.
- 29:21So those two songs are what I think about when I think of
- 29:24JoJo. Too little.
- 29:26Too late. It's so good.
- 29:28Unreal it's when she does the little no no, do you remember
- 29:34that bit at the end but she does that like huge like whistle
- 29:36tone. How many times have you just
- 29:38been on your own, just sat trying to sing that song
- 29:41because. I of course, what do you mean
- 29:42with like your finger against your ear and you and the other
- 29:44finger in the air following you? Oh my God, the whistle.
- 29:48I cannot whistle. Tone.
- 29:49I'm not a soprano. I've always been a mezzo or an
- 29:51Alto. I am not a soprano.
- 29:52But my God, you best believe, girl, I must sing that.
- 29:57I'm a. Sing Day such a good song and
- 30:02like lyrics. The lyrics are too little too
- 30:06late. I'm getting them up so that I
- 30:07can read them because my gosh, it is so good.
- 30:13Let's get them up. JoJo and the music video Her in
- 30:18the rain are you? Joking.
- 30:19Oh my goodness, are you joking? Oh my goodness.
- 30:22Thank you very much, JoJo. Come with me.
- 30:27Stay the night. You see the words, but boy, you
- 30:29don't feel right. Oh my God, what a faggot.
- 30:31Can I just pause? Sorry, How old was she when she
- 30:34wrote this song? The the High Road came out in
- 30:382006, so 15. Come with me.
- 30:43Stay the night. You say the world to the point
- 30:47don't feel right. OK, OK.
- 30:53I mean. No comment on that one. 2002
- 30:55thousand and six yeah. So she she said she was 13 when
- 30:58she performed Leave Get out and that was came out in 2004.
- 31:04So that would make her 15. Interesting.
- 31:07OK. I mean, it's not.
- 31:10There's nothing, nothing naughty about it.
- 31:13My favourite part of Too Little Too Late is the bridge.
- 31:16When she says go find someone else.
- 31:18I'm let in letting you go. I'm loving myself, yes, in
- 31:22letting you. Gorgeous.
- 31:24I'm loving myself. What a merit of 15 year old
- 31:28woman. Oh my goodness, 15 year old
- 31:31girl. What an absolute legend.
- 31:33I mean, that song is unreal. Do you remember the High Road
- 31:37album? I can tell you now when I when I
- 31:40was writing like the bits out for this the other day and I was
- 31:43talking, thinking right, what can I write about JoJo?
- 31:45I sat and looked at every single song on the High Road album and
- 31:48I know every single song and I know.
- 31:51So good. I cannot wait to get in the car
- 31:54in the morning and put this album on and just sing them
- 31:56because I haven't sang them in so long.
- 31:59Coming for you. That's a great song.
- 32:01Do you remember that one? I'm breaking down.
- 32:03I just can't take it anymore. No, that's so good.
- 32:07How to touch a girl. Can you remember that song?
- 32:12She's just brilliant, isn't she? Oh my God.
- 32:15So how to touch a girl Always remembers me.
- 32:17Remembers me. Reminds me of a Taylor Swift
- 32:22song. What's the Taylor Swift song?
- 32:30Oh, for God's sake, I can't think of the song.
- 32:36Oh, that's going to really annoy me.
- 32:37Also, she was. She was 15 in.
- 32:39I feel something happening. Could this be a spark to satisfy
- 32:43me? Baby, you've got to satisfy my
- 32:44heart. Do you know how to touch a girl?
- 32:47If you want me so much, first I have to know.
- 32:49Do you care what's on my mind? Are you thoughtful and kind, or
- 32:52am I just for show? You'll go far in this world if
- 32:55you know how to touch a girl. I mean, a little bit risque, but
- 33:00what a bloody song. I can't remember the Taylor
- 33:02Swift song, but I'm going to find it and tell you which one
- 33:04it is because I know you'll appreciate it.
- 33:05The listings, probably not so much.
- 33:07Baby, it's you. Obviously you've mentioned.
- 33:10I love, love. That song.
- 33:12I just it's the bit where it's like, you ain't got to buy
- 33:15nothing. It's not what I want, baby.
- 33:17It's you. Ah, or I just, I just, I just
- 33:22think that song is like so like current in its time.
- 33:27Yeah, like it was. It was so.
- 33:29Do you remember that Casey song? What was that Casey song?
- 33:35She put out one song. I will learn to love again.
- 33:38I will learn Liz. I want to.
- 33:41It was on picture. Picture perfect with it was
- 33:45Lizzie McGuire, not Lizie McGuire.
- 33:47Henry Dark. It's called Paradise.
- 33:49It's called paradise. Are you?
- 33:52Thinking of KC as in KACI. Yeah.
- 33:58Maybe it's more than one song character.
- 34:00I know the other one. I know the one that I was just
- 34:03singing. Can't remember the word.
- 34:05It's gone out well. I remember Baby It's You and
- 34:07Paradise came out the same time and I used to get them mixed up
- 34:10because they were so similar and I loved them both so deeply.
- 34:14I feel like you would know Paradise.
- 34:15It was honestly, I remember the music video.
- 34:18She's on a bloody Ferris wheel or a merry go round or
- 34:20something, or she's at some kind of Fair.
- 34:23And but yeah, baby, it's you just reminds me of that.
- 34:26Like it was so just so current in its time.
- 34:29It's it's this, it's the melody, It's the it's everything about
- 34:34it. Just brilliant.
- 34:35And the lyrics were just so good.
- 34:37They weren't too deep. They weren't risky.
- 34:41They were just, it was just a lovely little pop song.
- 34:45Absolutely. And I am here for the return of
- 34:47JoJo. So come on back, girl.
- 34:49We've been waiting for you. We need a powerhouse vocalist
- 34:53back because we're loose. The women, the female artists
- 34:56are dropping like flies. I feel like I haven't heard from
- 34:58certain artists for such a long time.
- 35:00And I'm up for Hilary Duff's return.
- 35:02And I'm up for Miley Cyrus coming all up with Hannah
- 35:04Montana. And I was just the best show.
- 35:06Come on in. If there's any time where JoJo
- 35:11is welcome back, it's when we're having Hilary Duff, we're having
- 35:15Hannah Montana. We've got absolutely.
- 35:17You know, the world is just Demi Lovato is just having a comeback
- 35:22as well. Apparently she.
- 35:23Is I am Lily Allen. Lily Allen's back at it.
- 35:27Oh, I love it. I'm here for it.
- 35:29Come on. Come on, JoJo.
- 35:31Baby. It's you I love.
- 35:35That so much. Also, I forgot to say something.
- 35:39We can just pause here for a minute.
- 35:40I forgot to say something about unsaid things.
- 35:42I was going to say that. I think it's quite important.
- 35:44Give me a second. It's about the beginning.
- 35:49The. Beginning.
- 35:52No, it's the music. It sounds like something else.
- 35:57Hang on. No, it's not.
- 36:04The song must be the next one because there's no, there's no
- 36:09intro. No, it's not this one.
- 36:12It must be the next song on this album.
- 36:14What's the next song? No, the next one's not alone.
- 36:19Oh. There was a song, there was a
- 36:25song I was listening to the other day and I said, I
- 36:27literally thought to myself, is it surfer babe?
- 36:32No. Oh, so annoying.
- 36:37Oh, it's not alone. The beginning of not alone.
- 36:40Listen to the beginning of not alone.
- 36:44Obviously you can hear it. Can you hear that?
- 36:51That bit it sounds like. Yeah.
- 36:57That bit sounds like, hang on, can you hear it?
- 37:10Yeah. Do you think they sound similar?
- 37:13What's that song? Just a dream by Nelly.
- 37:15I was thinking about thinking about me, thinking about us,
- 37:20what we gone beat do. You know why?
- 37:27Yeah, I do. You had I.
- 37:28Do you hear it? Had the naughties playlist on
- 37:32right just downloaded like this. Was a weird version of not
- 37:35alone. Banger and it came on and I was
- 37:38like, that sounds so much like not alone.
- 37:41And then I played them next to each other and I was like, Oh my
- 37:43God, they actually are really similar.
- 37:45Like just that little opening bit thinking.
- 37:48About her thinking about me thinking about.
- 37:56Oh, who are we? We're disgusting people.
- 38:01OK? This is the part of today's
- 38:03episode that I've been both excited and slightly scared for.
- 38:07Yeah, same. Because we asked you, we asked
- 38:10you guys to send in your unsaid things.
- 38:13We did things that you never said, things that you wish you'd
- 38:16said or things that you said that you wish you could take
- 38:20back. Wow.
- 38:21That was like a they don't know that we know, they know we know
- 38:24kind of moment. If you if you understand that,
- 38:29hopefully it makes sense. To be honest, you, well, I mean
- 38:34you definitely delivered in what we asked for.
- 38:36Oh yes, you did. We had quite a few interesting
- 38:40stories We've chosen. Did we choose three in the end?
- 38:44I think we chose 3, didn't we? We picked three that we thought
- 38:48fitted well with each other. A little bit of emotion, a
- 38:52little bit of like, Oh my goodness.
- 38:53And then a little bit of a wow, did that actually happen?
- 38:58Yeah. OK, I do.
- 39:02Do you want to read the first one?
- 39:04Do you want me to read the first one?
- 39:06You read the first one. OK go on then.
- 39:08Story number one, I wish I told my ex what a knob head he really
- 39:14is. Great opener by the way.
- 39:15He led me on for years and I was blindly in love.
- 39:19Now I've taken my rose tinted glasses off I can see it all but
- 39:22alas have not been able to tell him how I feel.
- 39:26I go over in my head all the conversations I wish I could
- 39:29have with him. I feel like this started really
- 39:32strong. I wish I told him what a knob
- 39:35head he is. I always feel like I want to
- 39:39know more about this already. So I've already messaged this
- 39:42person back to say please give us more information because I
- 39:44want to know more about this story.
- 39:47He led me on for years, and I was blindly in love.
- 39:49I think in my head, I see a girl who was, like, absolutely
- 39:53infatuated with the partner, and he just didn't give her what he
- 39:57needed. And then he just left her sort
- 39:59of high and dry, if that makes sense.
- 40:02Knob head. Yeah.
- 40:04Knob head. Pretty much typical knob head.
- 40:08I think we all have conversations that we wish we
- 40:11could have had. And I think hindsight is so hard
- 40:14because hindsight is a great thing, isn't it?
- 40:17And you think, I wish I could have said this.
- 40:18I. Wish I could have said this.
- 40:19So, and I know that me and you are going to share our own as
- 40:23well, and there's a little bit of that with ours too.
- 40:25So thank you very much for your story.
- 40:27We're going to go to story #2 which is very interesting,
- 40:30Shannon, isn't it? I think it's very similar,
- 40:33actually. This one starts off with I want
- 40:39to tell my best friend she stinks.
- 40:41She's just brilliant, OK we were lovely, we worked together and
- 40:48are so similar it hurts. But since she moved out of her
- 40:51family home and in with her boyfriend she literally reeks.
- 40:56I don't understand how she can't smell it herself.
- 41:00Her hair is always clean so I assume she's showering but
- 41:04honestly it's her. So hard to sit at a desk next to
- 41:08her when all I can smell is cat piss.
- 41:11Would you be rude to gift her some fairy non bio?
- 41:20I mean pretty expensive. Yeah, gift me some fairy non bio
- 41:25Jesus. You're like 15, love the stuff,
- 41:28right? It's the cat piss.
- 41:31Oh no, so funny story and actually works.
- 41:37I, I sort of understand it. I used to go and stay at my, my
- 41:40best friend's house back when I was like 1819.
- 41:43I used to go to hers and we used to go out, go out on the town or
- 41:46we'd go like to the pub for a few drinks or we'd have a movie
- 41:48night or whatever. And like, at the end of the day
- 41:50when I'd get dressed and put my pyjamas and sometimes I would
- 41:52leave my like, clothes on in a pile on the floor in the corner
- 41:56out of the way, like, you know, to one side.
- 41:58The amount of times that the next day I picked up my clothes
- 42:02and they were wet because her cat had pissed on them is
- 42:05actually phenomenal. It was like the cat was like
- 42:09marking her territory. And I remember her saying to me
- 42:11a few times, like, don't leave your clothes on the floor
- 42:13because the cat will piss on them.
- 42:15And it was just such a weird thing.
- 42:17The cat used to just wee on my clothes.
- 42:19But I think it's because I also had cats.
- 42:22So if this person has just moved in with her boyfriend, if
- 42:26perhaps she had cats at her parents house, maybe the cat?
- 42:30If I don't know, has her boyfriend got a cat?
- 42:33So now there's no contact. Person saying she can smell cats
- 42:37but I'm not sure. Has he got a cat?
- 42:39If he hasn't got a cat then it's a little bit more alarming.
- 42:42I'm not going to lie. You might need to have a soft
- 42:44conversation with her also. I mean.
- 42:48If she's your best friend, just tell her.
- 42:51Tell her babe. Just what I mean.
- 42:53If you Shannon, I love you, but if you smell like cat piss, I
- 42:55will tell you. There's no way I.
- 42:58Don't want to smell like cat piss?
- 42:59No way I'd be letting you all crown smelling like cat piss
- 43:02babe love you too much for. That also really sorry if you're
- 43:06listening like if the best friend, the best friend.
- 43:11So the the listener that sent in this obviously listens.
- 43:15Yeah, yeah, if the best friend is also listening.
- 43:18Really sorry mate, but you stink a cat piss.
- 43:21You'll probably find out when on your birthday you get given some
- 43:24fairy non bio. That's how you know it's you.
- 43:29Man, it's actually brutal, right.
- 43:32OK, well, that was that was interesting.
- 43:34So thank you very much for that. That was we picked that one
- 43:36because it was so unique. Unique.
- 43:39That's the one word for it. Literally OK story #3 another
- 43:44anonymous entry. Mine's actually a story of
- 43:46something I wish I never said. I once dated a guy while I was
- 43:51in brackets. I know I am awful.
- 43:53On the rebound, he was wonderful and treated me so lovely, but I
- 43:58wasn't ready for a relationship at the end.
- 44:00When I finally decided it was time to break it off, he told me
- 44:03he was in love with me and I told him that I didn't love him
- 44:07back. To this very day, I still think
- 44:10about him now and I know that I 100% did love him, I was just
- 44:13too scared at the time to admit it.
- 44:15After being hurt so badly, I threw away something that could
- 44:19have been so wonderful. I wish I could take it all back.
- 44:21Oh my God, I've got actual goosebumps.
- 44:24Yeah, that's really sad. So sad.
- 44:27Also, like kind of proud of you for having the guts to.
- 44:31I know it wasn't true, but like, I don't think I could.
- 44:34If somebody said I love you, I don't think I could say I don't
- 44:37love you. I think I would just say I love
- 44:39you because I'm a bit of a people pleaser.
- 44:41So like. I do love people.
- 44:43You with you. Yeah, that's brutal.
- 44:46It sounds like she's sort of used that as a scapegoat, like a
- 44:48way to get out by sort of saying like maybe it was just like a
- 44:52hurt him to to sort of save him kind of thing.
- 44:54Like, you know, have you seen that before?
- 44:56Like movies and stuff? When people say I don't love
- 44:58you, I never have, I never will. And then they obviously do, but
- 45:02they're doing it to sort of save them the heartache and the pain.
- 45:04That's really hard. Except in a movie, it normally
- 45:07works out as a happy ending. Yeah, this obviously didn't.
- 45:11No, because she says I threw away something that could have
- 45:13been so wonderful. It wasn't meant to be, babe,
- 45:16let's put it that way. It wasn't meant to be.
- 45:18Maybe, if maybe maybe you ended up in a relationship and then
- 45:22few years down the line you, you weren't, you know, happy and you
- 45:25wouldn't have been together anyway.
- 45:26Because I, I do believe that all things happen for a reason.
- 45:29So. Exactly.
- 45:30He might end up smelling of cat piss.
- 45:32Yeah, exactly. You never know.
- 45:36His cat might piss on your clothes.
- 45:39Oh my gosh, disgusting. Anyway, we also thought that we
- 45:43would share our own stories of unsaid things.
- 45:46So Shannon is going to go first, aren't you, Shannon?
- 45:48And explain one of yours. OK, so weird that we're doing
- 45:53unsaid things because this is kind of still relevant.
- 45:57I mean, I could still tell them, but I'm too much of A people
- 46:01pleaser to do anything about it so I just keep my mouth shut.
- 46:05I mean, if they listen, you pretty much are about to do it
- 46:07so. Oh, my unsaid thing is about to
- 46:10become a said thing and now I don't have to say the thing.
- 46:14So my answer exactly my answer Thing is, I wish I could tell my
- 46:19old best friend. Old is the prevalent bit, how
- 46:23much she hurt me. Even now when she pops up on my
- 46:28phone, I still feel the need to reply to her messages with the
- 46:31same energy I used to put into our friendship.
- 46:36It took every ounce of me to be able to cut her out.
- 46:40I would cry and cry and cry for days on end, like it was hard.
- 46:47Do you know how easy it would have been to just be like, hi,
- 46:51how are you? Do you know what I mean?
- 46:52You're right, yeah. You just carry on for the sake
- 46:54of it. Yeah, exactly.
- 46:56And honestly, when I tell you we were like the other half of each
- 46:59other, we were so similar. It was weird.
- 47:03It was like it was borderline weird.
- 47:06And then just one day out of the blue, a week after my child's
- 47:10first birthday, first or second birthday first, I think she just
- 47:14cut me out completely strange, completely ghosted me and my
- 47:18children who worshipped her. She's literally one of my
- 47:22children's godmothers. Like they worship the ground she
- 47:24walked on. She was phenomenal.
- 47:28And then a few years later, last year, I think she just popped up
- 47:33on my phone like nothing had happened, messaging me.
- 47:37She sent presents to my door, like she knows my address.
- 47:41So she sent presents like via some like Amazon or something
- 47:45for my child. Yeah.
- 47:46Only one of my children, the one that she used to turn up for,
- 47:51not the one that she left after her birthday.
- 47:55Yeah. So it was she's just, she's just
- 47:57like, you know, it's, it's one thing when they hurt you, it's
- 48:03another thing. OK for your kids.
- 48:04When you're hurting your children.
- 48:06Yeah, exactly, exactly. And when I tell you, like I said
- 48:09earlier, the Notes app on my phone is full, full to the brim
- 48:15of messages I wish I could send to her.
- 48:17But instead of starting World War Three, I just keep my mouth
- 48:19shut. And to be honest, I'm not sure
- 48:22if that's for her benefit or just for mine, to be honest.
- 48:25To be honest though, is it even worth the energy?
- 48:28Do you know what I mean? If it was, if it was going to
- 48:30sort itself out, it would have by now.
- 48:32And that's how I look at it. And like you said, your children
- 48:34are more important than like your friendship with her is
- 48:38important, but but the way that she treats your children is more
- 48:42important. Do you know what I mean?
- 48:43And I've done the same with people and, and with my little
- 48:45girl. I do not speak to friends that
- 48:49don't show up for her at all. I've cut them out of my life.
- 48:53Completely. And that's the thing, isn't it?
- 48:55It's like you're because in my head it's like I'm saying
- 49:00goodbye to 10 plus years of friendship of like really,
- 49:05really solid good friendship. And that hurts because it's up
- 49:08to me to say goodbye to that because she's kind of welcomed
- 49:12herself back into my life without asking me.
- 49:15But it's putting your she needs you first.
- 49:18Yeah. Yeah.
- 49:18Because she needs you. That's the only reason she's not
- 49:21doing it. Because she wants to be there
- 49:23for you. She wants to be there for your
- 49:24children. She's there.
- 49:25She's jumping in your DMS and messaging you because she needs
- 49:28you and she realises that she's fucked up and there's no way
- 49:32around it. She can't other than admitting
- 49:34that she did something that was terrible and that making a
- 49:37massive massive effort to come back to your life and be there
- 49:41for your children. She is there because she wanted
- 49:43something from you and that was support and that was the support
- 49:47that she didn't give you with your children.
- 49:48So let's just leave it at that. Sorry.
- 49:51You know my views on this as your as your current best
- 49:54friend. Well, that's my unsaid thing.
- 49:59Yeah, Well done. Proud of you.
- 50:00Proud of you for saying it on this channel.
- 50:03And I know that obviously we don't know if that person
- 50:05listens or not. So you know, if she does, you've
- 50:08just owned up. So it's all good.
- 50:14I've got actually listening to you say that.
- 50:17I always want to change mine a little bit, but I'm I'm not
- 50:19going to, but I'm going to. I might mention something first
- 50:23before I do because it's not really an unsaid thing.
- 50:27It was an unsaid thing for a very, very, very long time in my
- 50:31life. And that is when you talked
- 50:34about how you you stand up for the people that are around your
- 50:39children and, and the relationships that people have
- 50:41with your children, how important that is and how that
- 50:44makes you respond to people differently.
- 50:47Completely did the same with somebody.
- 50:51The immediate family that I've never really had a relationship
- 50:54with myself that sort of dipped in and out when they wanted to
- 50:58and, you know, were there for holidays and things like that,
- 51:03but never really gave much to my life.
- 51:07And I made a vow that when I had my daughter, that if that person
- 51:11didn't make a conscious effort with her, that that I would cut
- 51:17them out. And I did.
- 51:18And it made a really big thing. So it wasn't really an unsaid
- 51:21thing because I have the confidence to actually stand up
- 51:24and say it. And it's not, it's a sad thing.
- 51:27And I just wanted to say that I'm proud of myself for doing it
- 51:30because I haven't said that out loud.
- 51:32I feel like I. I'm proud of you, I.
- 51:34Needed to. I needed to.
- 51:35And I know that you know the story and whatnot, but it's a
- 51:38massive thing to have those unsaid things in your head for
- 51:41such a very, very, very, very, very long time.
- 51:44Yes. And then for one day, the only
- 51:47person that made me actually stand up for myself and say what
- 51:50I needed to say was my daughter. And that's how being a mum
- 51:53changes you. You don't.
- 51:54You let people walk all over you, but you will not walk over
- 51:58my children. No way.
- 51:59Exactly. Exactly.
- 52:02Anyway, my actual unsaid thing relates back to when I was at
- 52:07school. I was a very timid teenager,
- 52:10which is very hard to believe because now I'm very outgoing
- 52:13and I speak to anyone and I'll chat pure rubbish to anyone and
- 52:16anybody I know or don't know. I definitely, yeah, exactly.
- 52:21I definitely found my voice in my early 20s.
- 52:23However, being in secondary school was really, really hard.
- 52:26I was bullied so badly and I genuinely can't believe when I
- 52:30think back to all the horrible things that were said to me that
- 52:32I just actually let it happen. And I wish that I could go back
- 52:37now and say and stand up to the people and actually say how I
- 52:41really felt. Because I'd love to speak to all
- 52:44those horrible boys and girls that would tease me and call me
- 52:47names and like actually just just stand up for myself, you
- 52:51know? I'm more than happy now as an
- 52:52adult to tell people when they've hurt or upset or pissed
- 52:56me off. I just wish it didn't take me
- 52:582020 years to learn how to do it.
- 52:59Because if I can, Oh my God, then yeah.
- 53:02And actually stood and said, you know what?
- 53:04That's not OK. And I don't care what you think
- 53:08of me or what you want to pick out about my body or my face or
- 53:12whatever you don't like about me.
- 53:13I don't care. I see this in the mirror every
- 53:16single day. You pointing these things out to
- 53:18me, it's not new. I know I'm skinny.
- 53:22I know I don't have any boobs. I know I've got dark hair on my
- 53:25arms and my legs and like, whatever.
- 53:27Do you know what I mean? Like, I don't need anybody to
- 53:30point those things out. I look at myself in the mirror
- 53:32every day and that's the first thing I see.
- 53:35I don't need you to to keep relaying it because even as an
- 53:38adult now, Shannon, I am 33 years old and only this year
- 53:43have I stopped waxing my arms. I'm 33.
- 53:46It's one of those things, isn't it, where you're like, you can't
- 53:49say anything worse to me than I say to myself. 100% and like
- 53:53it's stuck around so much that it's taken me that I'm 33.
- 53:58I left school at 16. Do you know what I mean?
- 54:01That's a long time. It's taken me that long to
- 54:03actually say, no, I don't need to wax my arms.
- 54:06There's nothing wrong with my arms.
- 54:08Do you know what I mean? Like, I'm dark.
- 54:10I've always had dark hair. And my daughter was going to be
- 54:12exactly the same. And I'm going to have to have
- 54:14the same conversations with her. And I hope to God that she, if
- 54:17she gets anything like I did at school, that she'll fucking
- 54:20stand up for them herself and stand up to them and say sorry,
- 54:24but no, like it's not OK. And I think it.
- 54:27Yeah, I'll be there. I'll.
- 54:28Be there. But I think I think like the the
- 54:32feel of this, this podcast and why we added this little section
- 54:35in it is because it's comforting to know that everybody has these
- 54:39moments. It's not just you, it's not just
- 54:41me, it's listeners, It's a nobody sort of, you know, have
- 54:45to has to bottle it all up, if that makes sense. 100%.
- 54:49I think we all have our own version of unsaid things, don't
- 54:53you? Oh yeah, like, definitely.
- 54:57I think there's probably at least one or two people that are
- 55:01listening to this that have probably nodded along to every
- 55:04single story that's been said. Yeah, and whether you think
- 55:08Pinky Pissy 1 exactly. I was just going to say whether
- 55:11you said too much, which I think maybe one of them did, or not
- 55:14enough. Things clearly stick with you
- 55:17throughout life. These things stay in your hand,
- 55:19they stay with you. So, you know, I think it's
- 55:21important. To know.
- 55:23You're not on your own. There's all of us are going
- 55:25through the same thing. So thank you so much for yeah,
- 55:29thank you so much for sending your stories and we much
- 55:31appreciate them. And we had a right giggle
- 55:33listening and looking, well, looking through some of them
- 55:35together. It was quite interesting.
- 55:37And we hope that we have opened a channel for you guys to send
- 55:42in your stories and things like that because even though we
- 55:44don't get to share all of them, it is fun for us to read and we
- 55:46do appreciate your message. So keep them coming.
- 55:51So here we are at the end of another episode.

- 56:28But for now, keep your playlist loud.
- 56:31And your thoughts may be slightly less bottled up.
- 56:34Goodbye. Goodbye.
