- 1:08Speaker 5: Her tummy hurts. So, yes, we are hanging in there
- 1:12Speaker 5: with the rest of the crew.
- 1:14Speaker 4: And they'll be sorry that they aren't here because welcome

- 1:18Speaker 6: Wait what there you go see today uh yeah we
- 1:24Speaker 6: will be uh featuring not only an interview but a
- 1:27Speaker 6: film all surrounding.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Uh peter mayhew which you would know as chewbacca it's a.
- 1:33Speaker 7: Very large odd looking man.
- 1:35Speaker 5: He's he's a big dude let me tell you definitely he.
- 1:38Speaker 7: Looks wookie-esque like i don't know It's strange.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it's weird how much he still looks like himself
- 1:46Speaker 4: out of the makeup.
- 1:48Speaker 5: You're still like, oh, yeah, there's Chewie. There's a movie made?
- 1:52Speaker 7: A film? I'm assuming it's a fan film of some sort.
- 1:56Speaker 5: No, no. We'll get there.
- 1:59Speaker 4: We'll get there as we go on, but yeah, we'll
- 2:02Speaker 4: come back to that at the end of this. Alright,
- 2:05Speaker 4: I guess we'll roll into this week's geek activities.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Ta-da! um i did watch a a movie.
- 2:13Speaker 4: For one which is amazing half the time for me
- 2:15Speaker 4: and uh actually a really good movie i did watch
- 2:17Speaker 4: pontypool what the hell's that have you not seen i
- 2:20Speaker 4: don't know it's in in the geek circles it's got
- 2:23Speaker 4: a pretty big following it's it's sort of a way
- 2:26Speaker 4: of doing a zombie movie it's pontypool pontypool yeah it's
- 2:31Speaker 4: actually out of ontario and it's pretty well put together
- 2:35Speaker 4: i have to say it's It's maybe high-level independent film.
- 2:40Speaker 5: I mean, they've got a decent amount of backing. It
- 2:42Speaker 5: looks great. They've got real actors.
- 2:43Speaker 4: But, yeah, they found a way to do it on
- 2:45Speaker 4: a pretty limited budget, and it's pretty amazing to watch.
- 2:48Speaker 7: Is it a different take on the whole zombie genre, hopefully?
- 2:52Speaker 5: Definitely.
- 2:53Speaker 4: So, yeah, I don't know if maybe too many people
- 2:56Speaker 4: have addressed it, because I know Misty was up for
- 2:59Speaker 4: watching it. So if anybody out there listening wants us
- 3:01Speaker 4: to watch it, I'm definitely up for doing a whole
- 3:03Speaker 4: show on it.
- 3:04Speaker 5: But I didn't know.
- 3:05Speaker 4: I've already heard a few shows talk about it, so
- 3:07Speaker 4: I didn't know if it was overplayed at this point.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Gotcha, gotcha.
- 3:10Speaker 4: I'll leave it up to you guys and everybody here
- 3:12Speaker 4: if we actually want to sit down and do a
- 3:14Speaker 4: show on it.
- 3:15Speaker 5: It's pretty awesome. I'm down.
- 3:17Speaker 7: I've never even heard of it.
- 3:18Speaker 8: Did you find it at Wild and Mully?
- 3:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's out on DVD already. It's been
- 3:24Speaker 4: out for a while, again, in Canada, so I know
- 3:26Speaker 4: people had different copies from Like, the international version where
- 3:31Speaker 4: they were getting a hold of. But, yeah, I think
- 3:33Speaker 4: it's on DVD. Actually, it was on cable this past weekend.
- 3:36Speaker 4: I guess it just made its way to one of
- 3:38Speaker 4: the channels.
- 3:39Speaker 5: What channel was it on? I think it was one
- 3:41Speaker 5: of the.
- 3:41Speaker 4: I think it was, like, the movie channel. The leftover
- 3:44Speaker 4: version of the movie channel, which I'm surprised still exists
- 3:46Speaker 4: at this point, but... yep yeah i was yeah once
- 3:49Speaker 4: i saw what's coming on i was like okay now
- 3:51Speaker 4: i'm watching this so because i've been wanting to see
- 3:53Speaker 4: it forever so that that was awesome let's see i
- 3:57Speaker 4: did watch a miami medical which i didn't that's what
- 4:02Speaker 4: i'm saying i don't even think i realized it was
- 4:03Speaker 4: a show but i saw that it was getting ready
- 4:06Speaker 4: to come on and they showed them rolling an alligator
- 4:08Speaker 4: into the hospital on a gurney and i was like
- 4:11Speaker 4: okay i might have to see where the hell they're
- 4:12Speaker 4: going with this That part was pretty cool.
- 4:15Speaker 5: There's a gator. He attacks people.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 5: He ends up taking people out. Wait, in the hospital?
- 4:19Speaker 4: No, this was, they were golfing and like, oh, you're
- 4:22Speaker 4: at a water hazard and the gator comes up and
- 4:24Speaker 4: attacks people. So, yeah, the gator part was awesome. But
- 4:28Speaker 4: as I watched the show, I was like, this is
- 4:29Speaker 4: the most forgettable show. Like, I could care less about
- 4:33Speaker 4: any of these characters. It's like, it's just another one
- 4:36Speaker 4: of those interchangeable medical shows.
- 4:38Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Yeah, if it makes it past, they'll probably renew it
- 4:42Speaker 4: for next season, but if it makes it past that,
- 4:44Speaker 4: I'll be surprised because it's just completely forgettable.
- 4:48Speaker 7: Didn't Stephen King have that one medical supernatural hospital type show?
- 4:54Speaker 7: Was it actually a show? Was it sci-fi?
- 4:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so. I thought it was more like a.
- 5:01Speaker 7: Yeah, I didn't know if it was a mini-series.
- 5:04Speaker 5: I thought it was a mini-series. I'm like, because that
- 5:05Speaker 5: seems like it'd be a cool concept. I don't think
- 5:07Speaker 5: it was well-received either way.
- 5:09Speaker 7: People just want the cut-and-dried cookie, like, I just want
- 5:13Speaker 7: another frickin' ER or something.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Yeah. It's like, what about something a little different?
- 5:16Speaker 10: No.
- 5:16Speaker 4: No, which is what this wants to be, but yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 4: it doesn't have any characters you really care about at all.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Yeah, it'll be awesome. Except for the alligator. Yeah, I
- 5:24Speaker 5: like the gator. That was the only reason I watched it.
- 5:26Speaker 5: I was like, I like gators.
- 5:27Speaker 2: All right.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Rupert.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Here's the alligator from Eaten Alive.
- 5:31Speaker 9: Actually, in Florida, alligators aren't even as big of a
- 5:34Speaker 9: problem now as the snakes are.
- 5:37Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 5:37Speaker 8: Which is funny.
- 5:39Speaker 9: I didn't watch this, but apparently it was on the
- 5:40Speaker 9: Discovery Channel over the weekend. Someone was telling me about
- 5:43Speaker 9: how they watched it and how the snakes are an
- 5:45Speaker 9: epidemic in Florida.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Snakes.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 5:49Speaker 12: Snakes.
- 5:49Speaker 4: So, yeah, as you noticed when we sat down in
- 5:53Speaker 4: the studio here, the only other thing I did was
- 5:55Speaker 4: I did a little bit of painting yesterday.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Which is looking good, looking better.
- 5:58Speaker 4: It's slow progress.
- 6:00Speaker 5: That's okay. And I hate it.
- 6:01Speaker 7: Because it's all that trim stuff that's not easy.
- 6:04Speaker 8: Do you have a trim roller brush?
- 6:06Speaker 5: No. Yeah, they're sweet.
- 6:08Speaker 8: It really helps.
- 6:10Speaker 5: You don't want to kill yourself. So, yeah, I hate it.
- 6:12Speaker 4: So the only thing that sort of made it tolerable was,
- 6:15Speaker 4: once again, throw on some more Veronica Mars. But, and
- 6:18Speaker 4: I want to go into that because I go into
- 6:19Speaker 4: that every week. But what I wanted to go into
- 6:22Speaker 4: is they were episodes that, back to back, starred both
- 6:26Speaker 4: of the kids.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Well, it didn't star.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Featured both of the older kids from fucking Home Improvement. Now, yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 4: it was the Zachary Ty Bryan was in one and
- 6:36Speaker 4: the next episode, Jonathan Taylor Thomas was in. And I
- 6:39Speaker 4: was like, well, then I started thinking, I was like,
- 6:42Speaker 4: but I remember when I'm back a million years ago,
- 6:45Speaker 4: the sad part is Smallville was still on then. They
- 6:48Speaker 4: were on Smallville, too, like separate episodes, but they were
- 6:51Speaker 4: both on there in the span of about two seasons.
- 6:53Speaker 5: I'm like, do they have the same agent? Like, who
- 6:55Speaker 5: the hell books these same two kids for the same
- 6:57Speaker 5: stupid shows?
- 6:58Speaker 9: I think maybe JTT just can't handle that Zachary Ty Bryant.
- 7:02Speaker 7: Or whatever his name is.
- 7:03Speaker 5: I guess.
- 7:05Speaker 8: Gets work, and he's like, I'm gonna do this dude, motherfucker.
- 7:08Speaker 5: Fucking asshole.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 7: Because, like, they're constantly competing.
- 7:11Speaker 5: I guess so. I don't understand.
- 7:13Speaker 4: But that led me to my other point, which I
- 7:15Speaker 4: want to pose this to you guys and to everyone.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Okay. What the hell happened to JTT?
- 7:20Speaker 8: I mean, I was in love with him when I
- 7:22Speaker 8: was in, like, fourth grade.
- 7:23Speaker 5: But just, like, career-wise.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I mean, if ever there was somebody who was poised
- 7:28Speaker 4: to take over the world, like, of Hollywood at least.
- 7:30Speaker 5: I mean, he was the biggest star in the world. Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 4: He was on this primetime hit show. He left that
- 7:36Speaker 4: to go do movies. He was the hottest young actor
- 7:38Speaker 4: in the world and just gone.
- 7:40Speaker 8: He stayed only five feet tall.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Yeah. I think that.
- 7:44Speaker 7: I mean, is he really a good actor? I never
- 7:47Speaker 7: really got that he... you know because the the child
- 7:51Speaker 7: actor they grow up and what can make and break
- 7:54Speaker 7: them is their cuteness like if they keep their childish
- 7:57Speaker 7: looks that helps them but if you like turn into
- 8:00Speaker 7: kind of like the the wonder years kid then it
- 8:04Speaker 7: doesn't help and it's kind.
- 8:05Speaker 13: Of like i mean he's a successful producer yeah but
- 8:08Speaker 13: he's not an actor anymore you know most of them
- 8:10Speaker 13: move behind the scenes yeah yeah they realize ron howard
- 8:13Speaker 13: was right i should get back here and start doing
- 8:15Speaker 13: stuff behind.
- 8:15Speaker 5: The camera see and i didn't i don't i mean
- 8:17Speaker 5: did JTT? I don't even think he goes by that anymore.
- 8:21Speaker 5: I think now he's just Jonathan Thomas. Oh, Thomas.
- 8:25Speaker 9: In fifth grade, I had a calendar that said JTT.
- 8:31Speaker 5: I'm sure it did. He was banking on that JTT thing.
- 8:35Speaker 8: Pictures of him.
- 8:36Speaker 5: He had that big.
- 8:37Speaker 7: bowl cut feathered whatever it was monstrosity yeah they.
- 8:41Speaker 4: All kind of did all three of those kids were
- 8:43Speaker 4: fucking weird looking back in the day.
- 8:45Speaker 7: But yeah i i just figured that he didn't make
- 8:47Speaker 7: the the transition from child actor to grown-up like actor
- 8:51Speaker 7: for whatever reason.
- 8:52Speaker 4: But not for that reason because i've seen him and
- 8:54Speaker 4: stuff as he's gotten older he still kind of looks
- 8:56Speaker 4: the same it's not like he got horribly awkward like
- 8:59Speaker 4: he just looks like an older version of himself did
- 9:01Speaker 4: he get into drugs I.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Actually checked today.
- 9:05Speaker 4: I was like, well, maybe he's just working and I'm
- 9:07Speaker 4: just not watching the shit. No, the last big thing
- 9:09Speaker 4: he was on was that episode of Veronica Mars. And
- 9:12Speaker 4: that was like 2005.
- 9:14Speaker 8: Maybe he's an accountant.
- 9:15Speaker 4: He did a voiceover for something and then hadn't done anything, period,
- 9:20Speaker 4: since 2006. I'm just like, wow. To be the biggest
- 9:25Speaker 4: up-and-coming star and then just disappear.
- 9:28Speaker 7: That big of a gap between work i think he's
- 9:31Speaker 7: pretty much like doomed like i.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Don't know i blame it on i'll be home for
- 9:35Speaker 4: christmas i don't know i'm.
- 9:38Speaker 8: Sure in a couple of years we'll see a where
- 9:40Speaker 8: are they now.
- 9:40Speaker 9: Special yeah yeah and we'll find out about his life.
- 9:44Speaker 7: It'll be really sad if it's not even drugs or
- 9:46Speaker 7: anything he just he just stopped doing things i remember.
- 9:51Speaker 9: Like watching that a couple years ago and a lot
- 9:54Speaker 9: of people which i mean most of them still are
- 9:56Speaker 9: just like failed actors yeah the kid from uh willie
- 10:00Speaker 9: wonka in the chocolate factory he became a veterinarian.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Which i mean that's fine you can get to that
- 10:05Speaker 4: point but that's usually for like lesser stars like the Dude,
- 10:08Speaker 4: that was a huge movie. Like the DJ kid from Roseanne.
- 10:12Speaker 4: He's not a big star now, but you know what?
- 10:13Speaker 4: He was DJ on Roseanne. So I can see him
- 10:15Speaker 4: just sort of fading into the background there.
- 10:18Speaker 7: Didn't he get into drugs? I don't think so.
- 10:21Speaker 8: No, he got married.
- 10:23Speaker 4: He's just got kids now and he's just a dad.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Which is fine if they want to do that. But
- 10:28Speaker 4: it's like JTT was the Zac Efron of the 90s.
- 10:32Speaker 4: He was poised to take over Hollywood.
- 10:34Speaker 5: And just, yeah, wild America. That was it. He was gone.
- 10:37Speaker 5: I mean.
- 10:38Speaker 9: It's Stephanie from Full House that got hooked on meth.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Oh, that's right. Yeah, that's right. Stupid bitch. And she
- 10:46Speaker 5: supplied it to the Olsen twins.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 5: God, I hated her.
- 10:49Speaker 9: The Olsen, one of the, it's weird the Olsen twins
- 10:51Speaker 9: don't work together anymore.
- 10:52Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 10:53Speaker 8: Do they like hate each other now?
- 10:54Speaker 2: Probably.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I mean, if you were stuck with somebody that much
- 10:57Speaker 4: your entire life.
- 10:58Speaker 7: And that you dress like them all the time.
- 11:00Speaker 4: And you were like, then synonymously known. You know, there
- 11:04Speaker 4: is no version of you. It's just the twins.
- 11:05Speaker 7: You don't have a singular identity. I think that would
- 11:08Speaker 7: kind of wear on you after a while.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Probably.
- 11:11Speaker 9: I don't remember what movie it was for, but I
- 11:14Speaker 9: saw a cast list of some movie that's coming out soon.
- 11:19Speaker 8: And it's one of the Olsen twins.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Just one of them. I think one of them is
- 11:22Speaker 4: doing a lot more. One of them moved into modeling
- 11:24Speaker 4: and is getting stuff. So I don't know if she's
- 11:25Speaker 4: the one that's acting now, too. But, yeah, the other one, like,
- 11:27Speaker 4: didn't want anything to do with it.
- 11:28Speaker 9: I mean, they have billions of dollars they don't really
- 11:31Speaker 9: need to do.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Yeah. They shouldn't have to work the rest of their
- 11:33Speaker 4: lives unless somebody screws them out of all their money.
- 11:35Speaker 7: Well, I think that's cool. You know, they're kind of
- 11:37Speaker 7: doing their own thing. Like, you know, why should you
- 11:40Speaker 7: have to do the same thing that your twin or
- 11:43Speaker 7: whatever does? But, you know, I don't understand because I'm
- 11:45Speaker 7: not one of those twin people. Their minds work differently.
- 11:49Speaker 7: Always like, yeah, that kind of, like, I don't know,
- 11:52Speaker 7: connective thought process or whatever.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 11:55Speaker 5: I don't know. It's all very technical.
- 11:57Speaker 4: So, yeah, that was just, it was barely tied to
- 11:59Speaker 4: what I watched this week. But it brought that up today.
- 12:01Speaker 4: The more I thought about it, I was like, seriously, like,
- 12:03Speaker 4: that's sad how big he was to go to gone,
- 12:08Speaker 4: just fucking wiped off the entertainment world.
- 12:10Speaker 5: It's like, that's crazy.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:12Speaker 5: So, yeah, that was pretty much me.
- 12:15Speaker 9: That movie that has Howie Mandel and Fred Savage.
- 12:20Speaker 5: No, Little Monsters.
- 12:21Speaker 8: I fucking love that movie.
- 12:23Speaker 9: It was on regular TV over the weekend.
- 12:26Speaker 5: I just didn't like Howie Mandel even then.
- 12:28Speaker 8: Dude, I love that movie. It's a great movie. He's
- 12:30Speaker 8: just annoying.
- 12:31Speaker 9: They, like, put saran wrap over a toilet seat and, like,
- 12:34Speaker 9: peanut butter on a phone.
- 12:35Speaker 5: It's brilliant.
- 12:36Speaker 8: It's a brilliant movie.
- 12:37Speaker 4: I don't know if those were original, but yeah, kids
- 12:39Speaker 4: probably thought that was pretty damn fine.
- 12:45Speaker 7: I mean, well, funny, kind of in that vein, the
- 12:47Speaker 7: only thing I really watched this week was and It
- 12:52Speaker 7: is a movie that my girlfriend has, and I was like,
- 12:55Speaker 7: I can't believe you have this, and she loves it.
- 12:59Speaker 7: And I saw it when it came out way, way, way, way,
- 13:01Speaker 7: way back when it came out in theaters.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Super Mario Brothers. I love Super Mario Brothers.
- 13:06Speaker 7: It's one of the worst movies ever in the world.
- 13:09Speaker 5: I own it, thank you very much. It has nothing
- 13:12Speaker 5: to do with the game.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Minimal.
- 13:15Speaker 7: And even the movie itself doesn't. doesn't really have... It
- 13:20Speaker 7: doesn't flow. The ideas don't connect.
- 13:24Speaker 8: It has Dennis Hopper and Mojo Nixon.
- 13:26Speaker 5: I think it kind of does. It was one of those.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Again, on the back of my mind, I was up
- 13:30Speaker 4: for watching, so if you're up for it, hey, I'll
- 13:33Speaker 4: do a whole damn show about it.
- 13:35Speaker 5: I don't know. I just saw it. We can put
- 13:38Speaker 5: it off a little while.
- 13:39Speaker 7: I just enjoyed Yoshi. When Yoshi showed up, I was like, oh,
- 13:42Speaker 7: that has to be Yoshi. He shot his little tongue out,
- 13:44Speaker 7: and I was like, Yoshi! But other than that.
- 13:47Speaker 5: No, I was all about.
- 13:48Speaker 7: Oh, I want to freaking kill myself.
- 13:50Speaker 5: No, I was all about the princess. Multiple times.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Samantha Mathis, I had a thing for her anyway, so.
- 13:54Speaker 5: What happened to her? Didn't she disappear? That's another one.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Well, she was in a lot of stuff for a while, though.
- 13:59Speaker 4: She at least had a decent run and was almost
- 14:00Speaker 4: getting like... big, like big budget projects and then just
- 14:05Speaker 4: sort of disappeared. And again, I think it was just
- 14:07Speaker 4: like age. Like you get to that point where once
- 14:09Speaker 4: you hit 30, especially as a girl in movies, it's
- 14:12Speaker 4: like you either become the mom roles or.
- 14:14Speaker 5: You go, you know what? I'm kind of done with acting.
- 14:16Speaker 5: So I think that's what hurt.
- 14:17Speaker 7: Or you show your business and let, you know, that'll
- 14:20Speaker 7: take you other places.
- 14:21Speaker 8: That used to be true, but it's not true anymore.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Not as much, but still, I mean, you think how
- 14:26Speaker 5: much it has.
- 14:26Speaker 4: To narrow down your market at that point. You're then
- 14:29Speaker 4: fighting with every other actress that has decided to stick
- 14:32Speaker 4: with it.
- 14:32Speaker 5: At that age. At that age.
- 14:34Speaker 9: I mean, I guess, but I kind of feel like
- 14:36Speaker 9: anymore it's like all these people have just been in
- 14:38Speaker 9: the business.
- 14:39Speaker 8: Like Cameron Diaz and... And, like, even Angelina Jolie is, like, what,
- 14:43Speaker 8: 36 or something?
- 14:44Speaker 4: Yeah, but they're all still names. Like, those are pretty
- 14:47Speaker 4: much A-listers. So, I mean, when you're not an A-lister
- 14:50Speaker 4: and you hit that, it kind of kills you. I mean,
- 14:53Speaker 4: you can coast for an extra 10 years and people
- 14:55Speaker 4: don't even notice that you're 30 when you're Julie Roberts
- 14:58Speaker 4: and you're Cameron Diaz. You can coast on your name
- 15:01Speaker 4: and just your marketability on a movie poster for years past.
- 15:05Speaker 5: When a nobody actor would.
- 15:07Speaker 8: Yeah, that's true.
- 15:08Speaker 5: That's probably it for them, but, yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So.
- 15:11Speaker 7: So that was basically, as far as my geek activities,
- 15:15Speaker 7: that was pretty much like the stint of it. And
- 15:19Speaker 7: I apologize for that. It should be more exciting. Mine
- 15:22Speaker 7: wasn't exciting. But, yeah, I mean, it was exciting for
- 15:26Speaker 7: me because it made me feel feelings and emotions were
- 15:30Speaker 7: bubbling up. anger and hatred and there was some love
- 15:34Speaker 7: and then more anger and confusion and yeah.
- 15:39Speaker 4: It was just it was weird i'm one of the
- 15:41Speaker 4: few that thinks that's almost the way they.
- 15:43Speaker 5: Should go with video game movies just.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Go off and do your own Because I just give
- 15:48Speaker 4: them so much credit for what they did with that story.
- 15:50Speaker 4: I'm not saying it's good. I know people hate it,
- 15:52Speaker 4: but I'm just like, at least it's not fucking Doom. Like,
- 15:55Speaker 4: it goes its own damn way.
- 15:57Speaker 5: No, but Doom was good. It was fun.
- 15:59Speaker 7: Doom was a good time because it was mindless.
- 16:02Speaker 5: It's mindless.
- 16:02Speaker 3: I'll give you that.
- 16:03Speaker 7: Well, the game itself. How are you going to make
- 16:05Speaker 7: a freaking movie off of that game? Like, come on.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Same thing with Super Mario Brothers.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Like.
- 16:09Speaker 4: But that's the thing, yeah, it seems like a stupid
- 16:11Speaker 4: idea to make a movie out of it, but at
- 16:13Speaker 4: the same time, I look at the world that they created,
- 16:15Speaker 4: and I'm just like, the imagination that they put into
- 16:18Speaker 4: that weird world, that alternate world that they live in,
- 16:21Speaker 4: and the whole city.
- 16:23Speaker 7: I think if they had made The Mushroom Kingdom, that
- 16:26Speaker 7: would have been awesome. I would have liked to have
- 16:28Speaker 7: seen The Mushroom Kingdom for real, not like... Pseudo New
- 16:32Speaker 7: York with the Hammer Brothers tattoo parlor and stuff like oh.
- 16:35Speaker 4: In a way it almost needs to be like its
- 16:37Speaker 4: own movie like everything that's going on is kind of
- 16:39Speaker 4: awesome But you don't even need the Mario Brothers in
- 16:42Speaker 4: the middle of it because it's kind of a cool
- 16:45Speaker 4: story that you could just have two characters and you
- 16:48Speaker 4: know a wormhole opens up and they go to this
- 16:50Speaker 4: world and it would be a fun movie and It's.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Just the fact that they were trying to product tie
- 16:54Speaker 5: in and.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Make it a Mario Brothers movie that's kind of the ridiculous, well,
- 16:58Speaker 4: the most ridiculous part about it.
- 16:59Speaker 5: Bob Hoskins.
- 17:00Speaker 7: And I like Bob Hoskins. John Leguizamo. Yeah, John Leguizamo.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Yeah, when you think Italian, you think John Leguizamo.
- 17:08Speaker 7: Yeah, well, and that's what my girlfriend said. She's like,
- 17:11Speaker 7: I had the biggest crush on John Leguizamo because of
- 17:13Speaker 7: this movie.
- 17:14Speaker 5: She's like, I loved him. So goofy.
- 17:17Speaker 7: Oh, God, he's so weird. And his teeth, like how
- 17:19Speaker 7: he talks out of the side of his mouth or whatever.
- 17:21Speaker 5: Yeah, right in the real world.
- 17:22Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 17:23Speaker 5: So that was the extent of mine.
- 17:25Speaker 9: Well, before we go on to mine, it weirds me
- 17:29Speaker 9: out that, like, John Leguizamo used to always get, like,
- 17:33Speaker 9: weird guy roles.
- 17:34Speaker 8: But lately he's like.
- 17:36Speaker 9: teacher dad yeah I'm like you're John Leguizamo like you
- 17:40Speaker 9: can't do normal like this.
- 17:41Speaker 7: You can't go from the defilator to yeah responsible parent
- 17:46Speaker 7: or whatever.
- 17:47Speaker 4: See the thing is I think he can I just
- 17:49Speaker 4: wish I almost wish he would stick to the more
- 17:51Speaker 4: serious role because when he does silly it's fucking retarded
- 17:55Speaker 4: usually every once in a while he turns in something
- 17:57Speaker 4: that's funny but usually.
- 17:58Speaker 5: It's so clown in the spawn movie.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Yeah, the violator to the past. I want to shoot
- 18:03Speaker 4: him for the past. God, it's annoying. Have you not
- 18:06Speaker 4: seen the past?
- 18:07Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 18:08Speaker 7: Well, and then he does like Moulin Rouge or whatever.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Yeah, and that one's kind of, he's sort of pushing
- 18:13Speaker 5: the edge on that one anyway.
- 18:16Speaker 9: What was that movie that was awful but it had
- 18:18Speaker 9: Zooey Deschanel?
- 18:22Speaker 8: It was an M. Night Shyamalan movie, The Happening.
- 18:24Speaker 7: Oh, I didn't see that one.
- 18:25Speaker 5: I've avoided The Happening. Worst movie ever.
- 18:27Speaker 8: I didn't see that show.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Yeah, once again. But that's the thing.
- 18:31Speaker 8: He was like a teacher in that.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Have you ever watched his stand-up? Which I won't even
- 18:35Speaker 4: call traditional stand-up.
- 18:37Speaker 5: It's just like all those performance art stuff. It really
- 18:41Speaker 5: is almost monologue-based, and it's just stories about his life.
- 18:44Speaker 5: And it kind of is... elevated above yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Like standard stand-up you know stupid jokes it's like it's actually.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Really serious at points and and that is.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Like the best thing he's done like i wish he
- 18:55Speaker 4: would do more of that stuff because it's so much
- 18:58Speaker 4: better than the stupid like slapstick movies he puts.
- 19:01Speaker 5: Yeah all right that's just my thoughts on it i
- 19:05Speaker 5: agree all.
- 19:06Speaker 9: Right uh well i didn't really do that much uh
- 19:09Speaker 9: at one point i watched another tales from the.
- 19:11Speaker 8: Crypt episode nice it was.
- 19:13Speaker 9: Uh I don't remember the name of the episode, but
- 19:16Speaker 9: it had the little person from Poltergeist.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Oh, the lady? This house is clean. Rubenstein. She just died. Yeah,
- 19:27Speaker 5: she did die.
- 19:29Speaker 8: Yeah, she was in it.
- 19:30Speaker 5: What was she doing? I don't remember. I've probably seen it.
- 19:33Speaker 5: I'm sure I've seen it.
- 19:34Speaker 8: I don't remember.
- 19:35Speaker 9: It was about child psychology and how she had this
- 19:38Speaker 9: crazy child.
- 19:40Speaker 8: She called these child psychologists and.
- 19:44Speaker 8: You'd have to watch the episode to understand.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Okay.
- 19:47Speaker 9: But Saturday, I was staying at a friend's house. and
- 19:50Speaker 9: her boyfriend turned the TV on, and apparently it was
- 19:52Speaker 9: like medieval.
- 19:53Speaker 8: Day on sci-fi channels.
- 19:55Speaker 5: Sweet. All right.
- 19:56Speaker 9: So we ended up watching this really awful movie about
- 19:59Speaker 9: dragons called Fire and Ice.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Oh, it actually comes up later. But yeah, go ahead.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Really?
- 20:05Speaker 5: Oh, interesting. Like animated or?
- 20:07Speaker 12: No, no, no.
- 20:07Speaker 5: No, the animated was awesome. That's what I was getting at.
- 20:10Speaker 5: We're discussing that one in a few minutes.
- 20:11Speaker 7: That was for Zeta, right, I think?
- 20:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:13Speaker 8: No, this was not animated.
- 20:15Speaker 9: It was just a made-for-TV sci-fi movie.
- 20:18Speaker 8: Kind of your basic sci-fi movie. I don't have cables,
- 20:22Speaker 8: so I.
- 20:22Speaker 5: Don't really get to watch.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Is it, like, recent?
- 20:24Speaker 5: It may have.
- 20:25Speaker 9: Been probably pretty recent. I mean, it couldn't have been
- 20:27Speaker 9: more than, like, 10 years old max.
- 20:30Speaker 10: Wow.
- 20:30Speaker 5: Maybe I avoided this one on purpose as well.
- 20:33Speaker 9: But it was, I don't know. I was still half asleep,
- 20:37Speaker 9: so I can't give you... Whether or not it was
- 20:40Speaker 9: like the most awesome movie ever, I don't remember it
- 20:42Speaker 9: being very good, but that's just me. But that was
- 20:46Speaker 9: pretty much all I did, so I don't have a lot.
- 20:48Speaker 5: To talk about.
- 20:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:51Speaker 5: Well, does that round out our geek week? Shortest geek
- 20:54Speaker 5: week ever. All right. Well, I guess we will. Small
- 20:58Speaker 5: geek week. Yay. It cuts it back a little without
- 21:00Speaker 5: the other half.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Of the curve.
- 21:02Speaker 8: Are you drinking milk and Mountain Dew?
- 21:05Speaker 3: Yes. Gross.
- 21:07Speaker 5: I'm about to mix that shit.
- 21:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 8: Suicide.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Like Laverne style. Wait a minute.
- 21:14Speaker 2: All right.
- 21:14Speaker 5: On that note, we will take a break and be
- 21:16Speaker 5: back with What's the Buzz, baby? Milk and Mountain.

- 22:29Speaker 5: Han, Leia, sneak attack.
- 22:31Speaker 3: I'm all in pieces.
- 22:32Speaker 12: What a mess.
- 22:32Speaker 6: Put him down, Chewie.
- 22:34Speaker 3: How's that, C-3PO?
- 22:35Speaker 10: Wonderful.
- 22:37Speaker 11: On Solo C-3PO with Backpack and other action figures he
- 22:39Speaker 11: sold separately from Kenner Star Wars Return of the Jedi Collection. Popsyndicate.com

- 23:08Speaker 12: Hello, this is Peter Mayhew, listening to Movie Mountain Down.
- 23:43Speaker 4: All right, we are back with What's the Buzz?
- 23:49Speaker 5: Groovy. What is that buzz?
- 24:01Speaker 4: Well, do we want to start out with the big
- 24:03Speaker 4: one this week, which I'm not so sure I care
- 24:06Speaker 4: near as much about as certain dorks out there.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Let's start with the big one.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Yeah, the one that's all over the internet at this
- 24:12Speaker 4: point is Megan Fox is off of Transformers 3.
- 24:16Speaker 7: Oh, so, I mean, I know that pretty much they
- 24:19Speaker 7: hated her.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Yeah, they kind of hated each other.
- 24:22Speaker 7: Yeah, she was caught basically, like, calling him out or whatever.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Well, she was pretty blatant about it.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 5: I mean, caught nothing. She was, like, saying it to
- 24:29Speaker 5: a reporter.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Oh, nice.
- 24:30Speaker 5: What did she say? She made a lot of accusations.
- 24:35Speaker 4: The one that they talk about on here is that
- 24:37Speaker 4: she compared him to Hitler and said he wanted to
- 24:41Speaker 4: be Hitler on his set and basically was.
- 24:44Speaker 5: So, yeah, that's probably not a good idea, too, T. No, no, no.
- 24:47Speaker 8: She wasn't really.
- 24:49Speaker 9: She wasn't famous before the Terminator.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Transformer.
- 24:53Speaker 8: Transformer. We were watching Terminator earlier. Let me clarify. I'm
- 24:58Speaker 8: not that retarded.
- 24:59Speaker 14: But, uh.
- 25:00Speaker 5: But, yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 8: Yeah, she wasn't anybody before those movies.
- 25:03Speaker 4: No.
- 25:04Speaker 8: So, you know, it's just like your first big job.
- 25:05Speaker 8: I mean, I can understand if the guy's a dick,
- 25:08Speaker 8: but don't lie.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Well, he's just.
- 25:10Speaker 7: He has in his mind, this is what he wants,
- 25:14Speaker 7: and he's going to get it, and you're going to
- 25:16Speaker 7: be on board or you're not going to be on board.
- 25:17Speaker 7: You know, kind of, you know, like you're rolling with
- 25:20Speaker 7: the punches or get.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Off my fucking set.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 7: And I can understand that. You're the director. You kind
- 25:25Speaker 7: of have that say.
- 25:26Speaker 10: And....
- 25:28Speaker 5: His movies look good. His movies make a ton of money.
- 25:31Speaker 5: And they make a ton of money. I don't like them,
- 25:33Speaker 5: but they make it.
- 25:34Speaker 4: I can't argue with the fact that he knows how
- 25:35Speaker 4: to work the system and make money.
- 25:39Speaker 7: And I've heard that he's a tyrant on set. And
- 25:41Speaker 7: he admits it.
- 25:42Speaker 5: He knows. Because he's like.
- 25:44Speaker 7: we you know we're gonna get the shot we're gonna
- 25:46Speaker 7: do it my way or it's you know the highway so.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Everything that's mentioned here of him just being a tyrant
- 25:52Speaker 4: on set you know that's that's okay the one that
- 25:55Speaker 4: i heard when it first broke though that they don't
- 25:57Speaker 4: even mention in the story this week was how like
- 26:00Speaker 4: in the beginning like for the before the first movie
- 26:03Speaker 4: i guess when she was still like a struggling actress
- 26:05Speaker 4: and was trying to get this big break of hers
- 26:08Speaker 4: he had her come out to his house and put
- 26:12Speaker 4: on a bikini, washed his cars, and he took photos.
- 26:17Speaker 5: You are lying to me. What a perv. Are you
- 26:20Speaker 5: kidding me? This is all alleged as far as I'm concerned.
- 26:23Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 26:23Speaker 5: I wasn't there.
- 26:24Speaker 7: Until I see shit on the internet or whatever.
- 26:26Speaker 5: But this was her story. This was what she told people. Now,
- 26:30Speaker 5: she also seems like a crazy bitch.
- 26:32Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 26:32Speaker 7: I can see her making or embellishing a little bit.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Yeah. So, I mean, but if nothing else, she did
- 26:38Speaker 4: feel like he was being kind of a perv, and
- 26:41Speaker 4: she was being very sexualized, which.
- 26:43Speaker 5: Granted, most men in America do that, too. Well, yeah,
- 26:45Speaker 5: look at you. You think you'd be used to it.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, that, too.
- 26:48Speaker 9: Well, you know, I used to think she was, I mean,
- 26:51Speaker 9: I think she's really pretty, certain photos and certain movies
- 26:55Speaker 9: and stuff like that, unless you get really close to
- 26:56Speaker 9: her face, because she does not have good skin. But
- 26:59Speaker 9: something I learned about her from someone, someone told me
- 27:01Speaker 9: she has a clubbed thumb.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Which is.
- 27:04Speaker 5: awesome oh no no.
- 27:06Speaker 8: I've never seen it but it's just funny like.
- 27:08Speaker 5: It's gross yeah no see.
- 27:11Speaker 8: She also has really fat calves to.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Be so thin see she is yeah she's the opposite
- 27:16Speaker 4: end of the spectrum now the the report of who
- 27:19Speaker 4: might be taking her place now she's awesome in that
- 27:22Speaker 4: same freaky way Only the good version of it.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Okay.
- 27:25Speaker 4: See, Megan Fox has the toe thumbs, which we've made
- 27:28Speaker 4: fun of continually on this show.
- 27:30Speaker 9: Gross.
- 27:30Speaker 5: So yeah, don't like her.
- 27:31Speaker 4: What they're saying who may take her place is that
- 27:35Speaker 4: Gemma Arterton that was in Clash of the Titans and
- 27:38Speaker 4: Prince of Persia, she's becoming kind.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Of the new it girl all of a sudden. So
- 27:43Speaker 5: she's awesome.
- 27:44Speaker 4: And I brought this up a while ago, but if
- 27:46Speaker 4: you hadn't heard that episode, yeah, she's awesome because she
- 27:49Speaker 4: was born with six fingers on her hands.
- 27:51Speaker 5: Both hands when she was... Yeah, when she was born,
- 27:54Speaker 5: six fingers on each hand.
- 27:56Speaker 9: So does Michael Bay have a fetish for girls with
- 27:58Speaker 9: fucked up hands?
- 27:59Speaker 5: I don't know. Yeah, really.
- 28:01Speaker 4: But let me tell you, I like the Gemma girl anyway.
- 28:03Speaker 4: She's super cute. But when I found out she was
- 28:05Speaker 4: born a freak. God, that's so much hotter.
- 28:08Speaker 5: So much hotter. Wait, so did she have them removed?
- 28:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:10Speaker 5: Does she have them? She just has spoke.
- 28:12Speaker 8: That'd be awesome.
- 28:12Speaker 5: That'd be awesome, actually. That's totally grouty.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:15Speaker 4: I would be behind that, but they weren't functional.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Like, they didn't have bones in them. They were just
- 28:19Speaker 5: like floppy. Yeah, they were just there. Get rid of those.
- 28:21Speaker 5: So the doctors took them off when she was born.
- 28:24Speaker 4: But the fact that she was born with six fingers
- 28:27Speaker 4: on each hand makes her so fucking hot to me.
- 28:29Speaker 8: What a weird coincidence, though.
- 28:31Speaker 5: That is awesome.
- 28:32Speaker 2: I mean.
- 28:32Speaker 4: So, yeah.
- 28:33Speaker 5: I'll take Gemma any day over Megan Fox. Fuck all that.
- 28:35Speaker 8: Can that be the name of this episode? like club
- 28:38Speaker 8: thumbs and six.
- 28:39Speaker 7: Fingers or something floppy fingers and toe thumbs well that
- 28:46Speaker 7: kind of sucks because i was hoping that it was
- 28:48Speaker 7: going to go the way that like they would be
- 28:49Speaker 7: shooting the movie and then they would have to kill
- 28:52Speaker 7: her off or something because i really wanted to see
- 28:54Speaker 7: like a death scene because i oh i can't stand
- 28:57Speaker 7: her character ever since she was like What if you
- 28:59Speaker 7: had to sacrifice anything in your perfect little life, Sam?
- 29:02Speaker 7: And it's like, look, bitch, I never said my life
- 29:04Speaker 7: was perfect. Like, what are you talking about? She needed
- 29:07Speaker 7: to be smacked in Transformers 1.
- 29:08Speaker 9: I've never really watched that movie, but it was on
- 29:11Speaker 9: once at my gym in the cardio theater.
- 29:15Speaker 8: So I caught a little bit of it, but.
- 29:18Speaker 4: uh well that's yeah i mean they still even after
- 29:20Speaker 4: their big thing like that was what this past like
- 29:23Speaker 4: six months or so ago and they supposedly taken care
- 29:26Speaker 4: of all that and michael bay was like oh it's
- 29:28Speaker 4: okay you know we'll put it all behind us come
- 29:30Speaker 4: back no robots will harm you during the shooting of
- 29:33Speaker 4: this movie.
- 29:34Speaker 5: How did she fucking piss on this paycheck.
- 29:36Speaker 4: All of a sudden he like he and the studio
- 29:38Speaker 4: suddenly changed their minds mind this week now of course
- 29:41Speaker 4: her people say she doesn't want to be in it
- 29:43Speaker 4: She made the call, according to her people. Michael Bay
- 29:47Speaker 4: and the studio both said, no, we cut her loose
- 29:50Speaker 4: this week.
- 29:51Speaker 5: They're rewriting.
- 29:52Speaker 4: They're quickly rewriting. Shia's still in it, obviously. He knows better.
- 29:57Speaker 4: He's not going to screw things up. This is his
- 30:00Speaker 4: only paycheck at this point.
- 30:02Speaker 8: He was in everything for like a minute.
- 30:04Speaker 4: For that first movie, by the time we hit two,
- 30:06Speaker 4: he was over with. Nobody cared about him. He's going
- 30:10Speaker 4: to be JTT of the future.
- 30:11Speaker 7: I don't think that it's going to take that long
- 30:13Speaker 7: for them to rewrite her part in the movie because
- 30:17Speaker 7: it's probably mindless anyways.
- 30:20Speaker 4: They're just finding a way for her to be gone
- 30:22Speaker 4: and him to pick up some new loving. So that's
- 30:25Speaker 4: really all they have to do.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Go, Sam, go.
- 30:26Speaker 4: And then run and avoid explosions. That's really the only
- 30:30Speaker 4: thing going on in these movies for humans.
- 30:32Speaker 7: Yell his name a few times.
- 30:34Speaker 5: God, they need to just cut the fucking human element
- 30:36Speaker 5: out altogether. I'm just going to go watch the animated show.
- 30:41Speaker 7: Yeah, really?
- 30:42Speaker 5: Fuck it. All right.
- 30:43Speaker 12: Well, okay.
- 30:44Speaker 5: Big news. That was good. That's a good big buzz. Definitely.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Well, actually, I'm like the least interested person in Megan Fox.
- 30:52Speaker 5: She's annoying to me. No, I can't stand her.
- 30:55Speaker 4: But yeah, bring Jim on because that might make me
- 30:57Speaker 4: want to see a Transformer movie. I haven't been real
- 30:59Speaker 4: thrilled in a long time.
- 31:01Speaker 11: Yeah, no.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Oh, so next up, this goes back to what we
- 31:05Speaker 4: sort of mentioned earlier. The fantasy and science fiction artist
- 31:09Speaker 4: Frank Frazetta just died May 10th. Oh, he did? Oh, yeah.
- 31:13Speaker 5: I didn't know if you heard that. Damn, I didn't
- 31:14Speaker 5: realize that. Yep, that was just this past two weeks ago.
- 31:18Speaker 3: What?
- 31:19Speaker 4: So, but all this was as the final pieces were
- 31:23Speaker 4: putting together concerning one of his biggest creations, more or less.
- 31:27Speaker 9: What?
- 31:27Speaker 4: He was mostly known for his artwork, and it all
- 31:30Speaker 4: ended up on novel covers and album covers. But he also,
- 31:34Speaker 4: at one point, worked with animator Ralph Baschke on Fire
- 31:37Speaker 4: and Ice, the fantastic rotoscope animation movie that was attempting
- 31:42Speaker 4: to bring his artwork to life.
- 31:43Speaker 5: It was all right.
- 31:45Speaker 4: It's one of those that was yeah and it was
- 31:46Speaker 4: it was on the list too of man sooner or
- 31:48Speaker 4: later we need to watch that yeah definitely so now
- 31:50Speaker 4: maybe we really need to because now director robert rodriguez
- 31:53Speaker 4: who was supposed to be here for wonderfest last week
- 31:56Speaker 4: and didn't show up i'm not sure what his deal
- 31:58Speaker 4: was but.
- 31:59Speaker 5: His kids probably yeah he's got.
- 32:01Speaker 14: 40 or 50 yeah i've lost track it's quite a
- 32:06Speaker 14: few i know he's got a big family he's got
- 32:08Speaker 14: a clan But yeah, he has announced that his Troublemaker
- 32:12Speaker 14: Studios has finally, has finalized acquisition of the rights to
- 32:15Speaker 14: make a new live action version of Fire and Ice.
- 32:18Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 32:19Speaker 5: So that seems interesting. Live action. Because I'm almost thinking
- 32:22Speaker 5: he sees how much Conan's going to.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Fail and is like, well, let's do a good movie with,
- 32:27Speaker 4: you know, swashbuckling and swordplay and, you know.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Barbarian.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Barbarian kind of world. Yeah. So, I mean, I almost,
- 32:35Speaker 5: because I see that coming.
- 32:36Speaker 4: I mean, we've done nothing but find horrible things about,
- 32:39Speaker 4: you know, the new Conan movie as it goes on.
- 32:42Speaker 4: So maybe he's planning to be like, okay, I'm going
- 32:44Speaker 4: to come through when that one sucks. I'm going to
- 32:46Speaker 4: give you the backup and save the day with a
- 32:49Speaker 4: good movie. who knows i don't know he's he delivers
- 32:52Speaker 4: such back and forth.
- 32:54Speaker 7: Yeah projects work yeah.
- 32:56Speaker 4: So yeah they're planning on it utilizing a green screen
- 33:00Speaker 4: filmmaking and cgi similar to sim city so the first
- 33:03Speaker 4: half of that i didn't like but sim city actually
- 33:05Speaker 4: looks good so if they can find a way to
- 33:08Speaker 4: to almost like play on the fire and ice rotoscope
- 33:11Speaker 4: look yeah and make it like a live action version
- 33:13Speaker 4: of that that That would be kind of cool, actually.
- 33:15Speaker 7: Well, I can kind of see that. If they want
- 33:16Speaker 7: to try and keep Frazetta's art style in there, they
- 33:19Speaker 7: may be able to throw some... Kind of like filter
- 33:22Speaker 7: or whatever and kind of CG it enough to where
- 33:26Speaker 7: you can see Frazetta's style. Because the original cartoon, and
- 33:35Speaker 7: I saw it a long time ago, it was good
- 33:37Speaker 7: because you could kind of tell Frazetta's hands were on it.
- 33:41Speaker 7: You could see that in there. But live action, yeah,
- 33:44Speaker 7: I'm not sure how they're going to do that.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Again, if it were just going to anybody, but I know, like,
- 33:49Speaker 4: Rodriguez is not consistent, but when he really, like, gets
- 33:53Speaker 4: into something, like, he's such a geek, and that's what
- 33:56Speaker 4: I like about him. He does seem very similar to
- 33:59Speaker 4: his fans. It's like he's not just like fucking Michael
- 34:01Speaker 4: Bay that you have nothing in common with. He seems
- 34:04Speaker 4: like he's such a geek, which is why he was
- 34:06Speaker 4: supposed to come to Wonderfest is he wanted to come and, like,
- 34:07Speaker 4: buy vinyl models.
- 34:09Speaker 5: He's that big a geek.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 34:10Speaker 4: So, yeah, it's like he seems like he's got that
- 34:13Speaker 4: kind of, attachment to projects that you know when he
- 34:16Speaker 4: really gets into them he might actually be able to
- 34:18Speaker 4: put a lot of time and effort into it and
- 34:20Speaker 4: make it something cool.
- 34:22Speaker 7: Oh poor frisetta that sucks he was old as hell
- 34:24Speaker 7: though jesus christ.
- 34:26Speaker 5: Rest in peace so yeah we will have to see
- 34:30Speaker 5: what happens with that one cool Oh, let's see.
- 34:34Speaker 4: Now, this one and the next two sort of tie
- 34:37Speaker 4: into a bigger question that I guess I'll get to.
- 34:39Speaker 4: But first off, we'll start with making fun of McGee
- 34:42Speaker 4: because that's pretty easy at this point. A few months back,
- 34:46Speaker 4: Disney scrapped plans for the McGee new adaption of Jules
- 34:49Speaker 4: Verne's novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
- 34:52Speaker 10: Hmm.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Which I think we actually covered that when it happened,
- 34:55Speaker 4: and we're like, good, because Mitchie's kind of a dork.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Well, he's a tool, but I don't know. Sometimes he
- 35:02Speaker 5: can be fun. Again, it's been a long time.
- 35:06Speaker 4: When he crossed over and did Charlie's Angels, I mean,
- 35:08Speaker 4: it's retarded, but it's at least fun. But by the
- 35:12Speaker 4: time he tried to get serious and deliver this big.
- 35:14Speaker 5: Terminator movie, what the hell happened? Yeah, so... I don't know.
- 35:20Speaker 5: He's a weird one.
- 35:21Speaker 4: But this is, again, a very strange direction they're going.
- 35:24Speaker 4: The studio has hired a very different kind of director
- 35:26Speaker 4: to take on the project, and it is David Fincher.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Really?
- 35:30Speaker 4: Who every week it seems like he picks up a
- 35:31Speaker 4: new project, so I don't know how he's going to
- 35:33Speaker 4: have time to crank all these things out.
- 35:34Speaker 5: I like Fincher.
- 35:35Speaker 7: I like Fincher a lot.
- 35:36Speaker 4: I really like Fincher, but again, this is like 20,000
- 35:39Speaker 4: Leagues Under the Sea.
- 35:41Speaker 5: He's out on the sea and under the sea, and
- 35:44Speaker 5: I'm like.
- 35:44Speaker 4: I don't know, I guess if it's submarine-oriented, it gets
- 35:47Speaker 4: a little more into his visual style.
- 35:49Speaker 5: Yeah, if it's out like.
- 35:52Speaker 5: I can see it being cool. Yeah, definitely.
- 35:55Speaker 4: I mean, he's one of the most talented filmmakers working today,
- 35:58Speaker 4: so it's like giving him anything at this point is
- 36:01Speaker 4: going to be interesting, but I don't know. It's a
- 36:04Speaker 4: different type of movie for him, too. I don't know
- 36:06Speaker 4: if he's going to... steer clear of the family aspect
- 36:10Speaker 4: of it, because, I mean, it, you know, originally was
- 36:12Speaker 4: a Disney project, so it's like if he's gonna go
- 36:14Speaker 4: more of his dark, twisted version, but... They say it
- 36:17Speaker 4: is going to be, let's see, where is it? Yeah,
- 36:20Speaker 4: unlike the McG project, this version is supposed to be
- 36:23Speaker 4: more faithful to the novel and not go into a
- 36:27Speaker 4: weird prequel like they were trying to do with McG
- 36:29Speaker 4: and go into the Captain Nemo story.
- 36:31Speaker 7: Well, it would be cool in and of itself, kind.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Of, but... It would, but I guess, I don't know,
- 36:36Speaker 5: it depends on how you're trying to market it.
- 36:37Speaker 7: I want more of the Nautilus.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Yeah, so.
- 36:41Speaker 4: But what's weird is after they broke that story, it's
- 36:44Speaker 4: also reported that 20th Century Fox has a 20,000 Leagues
- 36:47Speaker 4: Under the Sea project going too.
- 36:49Speaker 5: But this version is set in the future. What?
- 36:52Speaker 4: Fox's version is being produced by Ridley and Tony Scott,
- 36:56Speaker 4: who like to crank out these weird projects now. And
- 36:59Speaker 4: they're talking to the Timber guy that did Wanted as
- 37:02Speaker 4: potentially director for this.
- 37:04Speaker 5: But yeah, they're in development. Their futuristic version of it is...
- 37:09Speaker 5: In space? Yeah, I guess. Which, I mean, they keep
- 37:13Speaker 5: doing that. 20,000 light years?
- 37:15Speaker 4: Yeah. They've done many of the old school stories and
- 37:18Speaker 4: then set it in space.
- 37:20Speaker 9: I think I would really love a 20,000 Leagues Under
- 37:22Speaker 9: the Sea movie if they did the scenery just right.
- 37:25Speaker 9: Because the way I'd imagine it It would look like,
- 37:30Speaker 9: you know, City of Lost Children or something. Like, a
- 37:32Speaker 9: kind of, like, steampunk look to everything, you know, like,
- 37:35Speaker 9: old and, like.
- 37:37Speaker 5: Which is what I'm thinking, giving it to Fincher. That
- 37:38Speaker 5: would be amazing. Like, those fit.
- 37:40Speaker 4: Like, that version, especially if it is, like, most of
- 37:43Speaker 4: it takes place on the submarine, you know, and it's all, like,
- 37:47Speaker 4: undersea in this weird metal environment. Like, that definitely, like,
- 37:51Speaker 4: ties into his old style. Maybe not the last movie
- 37:54Speaker 4: or two, but, I mean, he's definitely... got.
- 37:57Speaker 5: His roots in that. So I really, really, it reminds
- 37:59Speaker 5: me most.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Of like alien three, like the whole look of that
- 38:02Speaker 4: planet is very close to what we're talking about here.
- 38:05Speaker 4: So hopefully, I mean, he can at least draw on
- 38:07Speaker 4: those visuals. Maybe story can go a little different, but yeah,
- 38:12Speaker 4: that ties to this next one, which will make me
- 38:16Speaker 4: ask a different question. Um, so this one is a director,
- 38:18Speaker 4: Paul Greengrass, who's done the Bourne movies, uh, is recently
- 38:22Speaker 4: reported in being taught in talks. with James Cameron about
- 38:25Speaker 4: directing the 3D remake of Fantastic Voyage, but he has
- 38:29Speaker 4: decided to drop out of that and focus on a
- 38:31Speaker 4: stylized adaption of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic pirate novel, Treasure Island.
- 38:36Speaker 4: The new take on the classic tale of Jim Hawkins, blah, blah, blah. So,
- 38:40Speaker 4: I mean, basically it just makes me ask, do people
- 38:43Speaker 4: care about these projects? I mean, they're going with a
- 38:46Speaker 4: lot of, like, old-school novels, family-friendly features that... it does
- 38:51Speaker 4: make me wonder, are they going to keep it that
- 38:53Speaker 4: family friendly? Cause you know, treasure Island's one of those,
- 38:55Speaker 4: they make.
- 38:56Speaker 5: You read in school.
- 38:57Speaker 4: It's like, it's very geared towards like kids, at least
- 39:01Speaker 4: in the way it's been treated in the last, you know,
- 39:02Speaker 4: 50 years.
- 39:03Speaker 5: In the school system.
- 39:05Speaker 9: I really think what all these movies are going for
- 39:07Speaker 9: is kind of like a pirates of the Caribbean kind
- 39:09Speaker 9: of thing, like in a family adventure, you know?
- 39:13Speaker 5: That's what I was thinking.
- 39:13Speaker 4: I was like, they're kind of tapping into that, but
- 39:15Speaker 4: at the same time, have we passed that window?
- 39:18Speaker 5: I'm like, the first one was cool.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Nobody really liked the next two, and they, I guess,
- 39:23Speaker 4: made money, but it's not like people love them.
- 39:26Speaker 7: I like the Pirates movie. i really especially when it
- 39:30Speaker 7: got to the third one i didn't think i was
- 39:31Speaker 7: gonna like it as much as i did and i
- 39:33Speaker 7: still haven't even watched i was totally jazzed i was
- 39:35Speaker 7: like this is all because it was good it was
- 39:37Speaker 7: perfect entertainment like it was entertaining the ideas i thought
- 39:41Speaker 7: were cool the look of it is really cool especially
- 39:43Speaker 7: because um what was his name uh davy jones or
- 39:47Speaker 7: whatever but he was basically cthulhu so yeah that's always
- 39:51Speaker 7: cool but yeah i think we're kind of over that
- 39:55Speaker 7: that's like.
- 39:55Speaker 4: I mean they're still working on the fourth one so
- 39:58Speaker 4: i don't even know like to me i was wondering
- 40:00Speaker 4: if that's gonna tank especially since now they don't even
- 40:02Speaker 4: have the director on board but they're bringing johnny.
- 40:04Speaker 7: Back and but definitely i would like to see kind
- 40:07Speaker 7: of like if there's going to be a reassurance i
- 40:09Speaker 7: would like to see the old classics set in space,
- 40:12Speaker 7: steampunk style. I think that would be cool. Like, if
- 40:15Speaker 7: they're going to do something or go somewhere, I think
- 40:17Speaker 7: that would be... I'd be on board for that.
- 40:19Speaker 4: I think two of these three are going traditional, though.
- 40:22Speaker 5: You know, they're going to be out on.
- 40:24Speaker 4: Well, especially Treasure Island's going to be out on the seas, and,
- 40:26Speaker 4: you know, so, I mean, it's like, is that... That's, again,
- 40:29Speaker 4: a weird move for Greengrass to be doing a big
- 40:32Speaker 4: Treasure Island movie.
- 40:33Speaker 5: I don't know. Not that you can't do it.
- 40:36Speaker 7: Treasure Planet?
- 40:37Speaker 2: I mean, come on.
- 40:37Speaker 5: There we go. I don't know. Who knows? Actually, didn't
- 40:40Speaker 5: they do that? What was that animated thing that came
- 40:43Speaker 5: out years ago? Yeah, what was that? Wasn't it like
- 40:47Speaker 5: Treasure Planet or something? It basically was. It's like they
- 40:49Speaker 5: took Treasure Island and set it in space.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:51Speaker 5: I don't even remember. I don't even think I saw it.
- 40:53Speaker 5: What the hell was that thing called?
- 40:55Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 40:55Speaker 2: I mean.
- 40:56Speaker 9: I just don't want them to fuck up the scenery.
- 40:59Speaker 9: The scenery will make or break a movie for me.
- 41:02Speaker 9: I really like those dreamlike scenes, especially when it comes
- 41:07Speaker 9: to old novels and things like that.
- 41:10Speaker 8: That you read.
- 41:10Speaker 9: I want it to have that dreamlike quality. Not even dreamlike,
- 41:15Speaker 9: but just a good set.
- 41:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 41:18Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, it should have the visual style to match,
- 41:22Speaker 4: you know, the weight of this kind of project and
- 41:24Speaker 4: just the mood of it.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:26Speaker 7: The original, I thought the original 20,000 Leagues looked really good.
- 41:30Speaker 2: So.
- 41:30Speaker 5: But it's.
- 41:31Speaker 9: Just, like, lately they just fuck stuff up, you know, like.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Tell me about it.
- 41:36Speaker 8: The CGI and, you know, it's just, like.
- 41:38Speaker 5: It's a cop-out.
- 41:40Speaker 9: I used to look forward to the scenery in Tim
- 41:42Speaker 9: Burton movies and now it's just awful.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:44Speaker 9: You know, like, I mean, the first... Willy Wonka, which
- 41:47Speaker 9: I know it wasn't exactly a remake. It was kind
- 41:49Speaker 9: of like a different version, but whatever. But like Willy
- 41:52Speaker 9: Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the scenery was amazing. Tim
- 41:54Speaker 9: Burton fucked the shit out of that.
- 41:56Speaker 5: Oh, he did. Terrible.
- 41:58Speaker 9: And it just seems like every movie where you think like,
- 42:00Speaker 9: even if this movie is awful, the scenery and the
- 42:03Speaker 9: costumes are going to be amazing.
- 42:04Speaker 3: They're not.
- 42:04Speaker 8: They fuck it up.
- 42:05Speaker 5: That was my main complaint with the new Terry Gilliams.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Movie too i mean he's one that was known for
- 42:10Speaker 4: those visuals and no and it starts off pretty good
- 42:12Speaker 4: like the stuff in the real world but when they
- 42:14Speaker 4: switch to that crazy fantasy world that's going on in
- 42:16Speaker 4: it it's mostly cgi and it's like you lose all
- 42:19Speaker 4: those physical effects he used to do and he was
- 42:22Speaker 4: so good at delivering that stuff and yeah i just
- 42:25Speaker 4: wish they would realize how important that like physical element.
- 42:29Speaker 7: Is exactly like you lose all of that aesthetic when
- 42:32Speaker 7: you just kind of Like I said, I think it
- 42:34Speaker 7: is a cop-out. You know, you just go for CGI
- 42:36Speaker 7: because nowadays it's so much easier. And I think it's
- 42:39Speaker 7: even getting to the point where it's a lot cheaper.
- 42:41Speaker 11: It is.
- 42:41Speaker 4: I mean, it's got to be cheaper at this point because,
- 42:44Speaker 4: you know, physically building all that stuff versus go stand
- 42:47Speaker 4: in front of that green screen. And you pay one
- 42:49Speaker 4: animator or whoever, you know, however much it takes. It
- 42:52Speaker 4: can't be the same.
- 42:53Speaker 5: As the set building, you know.
- 42:54Speaker 2: So, yeah.
- 42:55Speaker 4: That's what we're coming to, but I'm hoping, yeah, they
- 42:58Speaker 4: realize that's not really.
- 43:00Speaker 5: The best way to go aesthetically, artistically.
- 43:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, that seems fine when you're, you know,
- 43:05Speaker 7: whatever director, but yeah, when you're a big name director,
- 43:08Speaker 7: it's like, come on.
- 43:09Speaker 5: Especially when you're known for those kind of visuals.
- 43:11Speaker 7: Well, yeah, I mean, is your heart even in it anymore?
- 43:14Speaker 7: Are you getting tired of your own, you know, whatever?
- 43:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, you're Tim Burton, you're Terry Gilliam, you're
- 43:21Speaker 4: known for those visuals. So to just turn it over
- 43:23Speaker 4: to some animator and go, yeah, something like I used to.
- 43:26Speaker 5: Do 20 years ago. That's just lazy, if nothing else.
- 43:30Speaker 5: I'm sad for that.
- 43:32Speaker 4: So yeah, it was 2002 Treasure Planet. So we weren't
- 43:35Speaker 4: totally made up. And it was actually Disney.
- 43:36Speaker 5: I forgot it was Disney.
- 43:38Speaker 9: Really?
- 43:38Speaker 5: Was it DreamWorks?
- 43:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Disney made. I'll be damned. I'll be damned. I'll be damned.
- 43:44Speaker 5: Damn me. Oh, Lord. Have you played Heavy Rain?
- 43:49Speaker 7: I have not played Heavy Rain, but it looks really
- 43:52Speaker 7: freaking awesome.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Why?
- 43:54Speaker 5: Oh, they were making a.
- 43:56Speaker 4: They're signed on to try to make a movie of it,
- 43:58Speaker 4: but I hadn't played it, so I was like, I
- 44:00Speaker 4: didn't know the visuals.
- 44:01Speaker 7: I know enough that that is ridiculous because the game
- 44:04Speaker 7: itself is like a movie that you're playing.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 7: Because it is so set up non-traditionally to where... Yeah,
- 44:10Speaker 7: it's like you are just playing a movie, you know?
- 44:13Speaker 7: Then they're going to make a movie off of that?
- 44:15Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 44:16Speaker 5: Stupid.
- 44:16Speaker 4: I don't know. It's such a fine line, making video
- 44:20Speaker 4: game movies, especially as the video games get closer to movies.
- 44:23Speaker 5: To movies, yeah. It's really hard to decide what's going
- 44:27Speaker 5: to work better.
- 44:27Speaker 4: Sometimes maybe you should just realize, I'm going to make
- 44:30Speaker 4: a really cool video game and not bother with the movie.
- 44:32Speaker 5: Bother with the movie. Like, you know, I could.
- 44:35Speaker 7: And I'm still waiting because I am a video game
- 44:38Speaker 7: geek also. I'm still waiting for the Halo movie to
- 44:41Speaker 7: be realized and come out.
- 44:43Speaker 5: It will be cool.
- 44:44Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 44:45Speaker 7: I can see a God of War movie being really
- 44:47Speaker 7: awesome and making money. And what's the other one?
- 44:52Speaker 14: Like.
- 44:53Speaker 7: I mean, I am excited for the new Resident Evil
- 44:55Speaker 7: movie coming out because that looks like the most ridiculous
- 44:58Speaker 7: of all of them.
- 44:59Speaker 5: But it looks entertaining.
- 45:01Speaker 8: That was one of the few video games, at least
- 45:03Speaker 8: the first one, the second one.
- 45:05Speaker 5: I like the third one more than I expected. I
- 45:06Speaker 5: like all three of them.
- 45:07Speaker 8: I mean, they were awful, but I was surprised.
- 45:10Speaker 9: That was a pretty good movie i mean there's so
- 45:12Speaker 9: much story in that video.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Yeah god yeah i mean more backstory than most movies
- 45:17Speaker 4: have exactly.
- 45:19Speaker 9: What's what's that other one that's about zombies that they
- 45:22Speaker 9: made a movie of and it was house of the
- 45:23Speaker 9: dead no that one's horrible there's another one it was
- 45:27Speaker 9: like about a town and a little.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Paradise sea or no what's the other one um rhythm
- 45:32Speaker 4: shit What is that one?
- 45:33Speaker 5: Silent Hill.
- 45:35Speaker 7: Yeah, Silent Hill.
- 45:35Speaker 5: Silent Hill was awesome. Well, I've heard the visuals are
- 45:39Speaker 5: really cool and then the story is crap.
- 45:41Speaker 7: Yeah, the video game is kind of the same way.
- 45:43Speaker 7: The story itself is like, hmm, it's kind of doesn't
- 45:46Speaker 7: really have, it's not solid.
- 45:48Speaker 5: It's kind of really, hmm, uh.
- 45:50Speaker 7: dream-like in and of itself but like the atmosphere is
- 45:54Speaker 7: the big thing about silent hill that like draws you
- 45:57Speaker 7: in and the movie captured enough of that to where
- 45:59Speaker 7: it's just like yes yes yes i don't give a
- 46:01Speaker 7: shit about the story or whatever but the visuals and
- 46:04Speaker 7: like you know the atmosphere was there and so i'd
- 46:07Speaker 7: still like to see a two you know if they
- 46:10Speaker 7: were going to do a silent hill two It would.
- 46:13Speaker 5: Have at least visuals to work with and then write
- 46:16Speaker 5: a decent story.
- 46:17Speaker 7: And I love Radha Mitchell.
- 46:18Speaker 5: Love, love, love, love, love. Radha Mitchell. And she was
- 46:22Speaker 5: a girl in Silent Hill and Pitch Black. Yeah, that's right.
- 46:25Speaker 7: And the movie Rogue about the giant alligator, which is awesome.
- 46:31Speaker 4: All right.
- 46:32Speaker 2: You know what?
- 46:32Speaker 5: You love it. It's time for the remake of the week.
- 46:36Speaker 7: Haven't we been talking about remakes?
- 46:38Speaker 5: Well, we always talk about them. But this was the only.
- 46:40Speaker 4: I mean, everything else was just redoing old properties.
- 46:44Speaker 5: These are all making novels that people haven't read.
- 46:47Speaker 9: That reminds me, speaking of the old things, I saw
- 46:50Speaker 9: a long time ago that they were making a picture
- 46:52Speaker 9: of Dorian Gray, and I haven't seen anything about that
- 46:55Speaker 9: in a long time.
- 46:55Speaker 8: Have you heard anything about that?
- 46:56Speaker 4: No, I know they're still working on it. I think
- 47:00Speaker 4: I even saw like a teaser trailer for it.
- 47:02Speaker 9: That's one of the things that's like one of my
- 47:04Speaker 9: favorite stories of all times. And that's one of the
- 47:06Speaker 9: things that I think could be like amazing visually if
- 47:09Speaker 9: they got.
- 47:09Speaker 8: The right people.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:11Speaker 5: I'm surprised they didn't give that to Tim Burton, actually. Thankfully, really.
- 47:14Speaker 8: I know, I'm glad.
- 47:15Speaker 5: He would have screwed it up.
- 47:16Speaker 8: I kind of just want him to stop.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:18Speaker 8: Just retire.
- 47:19Speaker 5: Just take a breather.
- 47:21Speaker 4: Just pick another direction. Do something totally different without that style,
- 47:26Speaker 4: without your cheesy falling back on CGI at this point.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Just.
- 47:31Speaker 5: Maybe if he.
- 47:31Speaker 9: Just stops doing Disney movies or something, maybe? Maybe if
- 47:35Speaker 9: he just does something dark and weird.
- 47:37Speaker 7: Maybe he is hamstrung because of the contract he has
- 47:40Speaker 7: with Disney.
- 47:41Speaker 5: Yeah, probably. He needs to stop.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 47:45Speaker 4: So now this one, and usually we get in trouble
- 47:47Speaker 4: for being down on the remakes. And this one, and
- 47:51Speaker 4: that's kind of why I threw this one in, because
- 47:52Speaker 4: I think we usually complain about it for several reasons,
- 47:56Speaker 4: most of which is half the time it just doesn't
- 47:58Speaker 4: need one. Here's a property that probably needs a reboot.
- 48:02Speaker 5: Gidget.
- 48:04Speaker 4: The popular teen female character from the late 50s and 60s.
- 48:08Speaker 8: That one needs a remake.
- 48:09Speaker 4: Yeah. It's from a 1957 novel. I didn't even realize
- 48:14Speaker 4: it was that old. She's Gidget, the little girl with
- 48:17Speaker 4: big ideas. And yeah, the premise of Gidget, she's an
- 48:21Speaker 4: all-American girl and she's crazy about the new hot fads
- 48:24Speaker 4: of the time, surfing, beach boys, whatever the hell it
- 48:26Speaker 4: was at the time. So, now, thanks to a collaboration
- 48:30Speaker 4: between the producers of Forever Plaid and, wait, the producer
- 48:34Speaker 4: of Letters to Juliet and Piranha 3D.
- 48:37Speaker 5: Is that an odd combination or is that just me?
- 48:41Speaker 4: But yes, now Gidget is in line to be revived
- 48:43Speaker 4: as both a feature film and.
- 48:44Speaker 5: A new TV series. Gidget!
- 48:47Speaker 2: What? So.
- 48:48Speaker 5: What? And TV series.
- 48:52Speaker 8: Some old guy was like, Dude, I remember Gidget from
- 48:55Speaker 8: when I was a kid.
- 48:55Speaker 9: She was hot.
- 48:56Speaker 5: Let's do that. Let's do that. No, see, now I
- 48:59Speaker 5: have a whole thing on this one. But here's the thing.
- 49:02Speaker 4: Producer Mark Canton describes the appeal of Gidget this way.
- 49:06Speaker 4: With female surfing exploding across the globe, the time is
- 49:10Speaker 4: right to bring her back in a major way.
- 49:11Speaker 8: Female surfing is exploding across the globe?
- 49:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I was like, wasn't Blue Crush 2002? Seriously. So
- 49:18Speaker 5: this is like Blue Crush for Twilight Girls?
- 49:20Speaker 12: Now?
- 49:20Speaker 4: Is that what we're trying to tap into the new
- 49:22Speaker 4: market with surfing girls?
- 49:24Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 49:25Speaker 4: But that's what I don't understand is why, if they're
- 49:27Speaker 4: going to go that way, if they're going to go
- 49:29Speaker 4: the stupid way. Because then, and once again, we usually
- 49:32Speaker 4: just bitch about things blankly. I'm going to give this
- 49:34Speaker 4: way more thought than it probably needs or anyone in
- 49:36Speaker 4: fucking Hollywood has. If you're going to do this, don't
- 49:40Speaker 4: do it the stupid way like they always do.
- 49:43Speaker 5: Give it to somebody who knows what they're doing.
- 49:44Speaker 4: And especially since it's such a fad-oriented thing. And it
- 49:49Speaker 4: centers around a girl and pop culture, basically. Give it
- 49:53Speaker 4: to somebody who knows that and knows what they're doing.
- 49:56Speaker 9: People who did High School Musical is what I'm thinking.
- 49:59Speaker 5: Sadly, I was thinking better written, though.
- 50:01Speaker 4: I was like, give it to Amy Sherman, who did
- 50:03Speaker 4: Gilmore Girls, or give it to Rob Thomas, who did
- 50:06Speaker 4: my newfound obsession with Veronica Mars. Both of these are
- 50:09Speaker 4: projects that are really tied to pop culture, but they
- 50:13Speaker 4: weave it into the story so that it's not really
- 50:16Speaker 4: jamming it down your throat.
- 50:18Speaker 5: The Gilmore Girls got pretty bad towards the end.
- 50:20Speaker 4: But in the beginning, both of those were really just
- 50:23Speaker 4: well done, well written, and put together, but they were
- 50:26Speaker 4: very current. They were very of the time period they're in,
- 50:29Speaker 4: but without being cheesy about it.
- 50:31Speaker 9: For some reason, I'm imagining this movie feeling a lot
- 50:34Speaker 9: like Spice World.
- 50:35Speaker 5: Yeah, well, unfortunately.
- 50:38Speaker 4: I actually had to be better off with that. I'm
- 50:40Speaker 4: afraid what they're going to do with it is they're
- 50:43Speaker 4: going to go the, again, they're trying to cash in
- 50:45Speaker 4: on the young girl market, which is Twilight. So I'm
- 50:49Speaker 4: afraid they're going to go with another vapid young girl.
- 50:52Speaker 4: Don't give us another blank canvas that Bella is that
- 50:56Speaker 4: has nothing to offer. It's like, this is something centering
- 50:59Speaker 4: around a young girl. Why not give us an intelligent
- 51:02Speaker 4: young girl? It's like, why not write it? So that
- 51:05Speaker 4: she actually has something to say and is not an idiot.
- 51:08Speaker 7: Well, yeah, that has personality that is kind of layered
- 51:11Speaker 7: like young girls are. You know, like, come on, give
- 51:15Speaker 7: us something.
- 51:16Speaker 5: I mean, there's a way to do this.
- 51:18Speaker 4: And that's why, I mean, it's sad that we're going
- 51:19Speaker 4: to the TV writers, but it's like they knew what
- 51:22Speaker 4: they were doing. And both of those projects were good.
- 51:24Speaker 4: There's probably several other ones out there. I'm afraid it's
- 51:27Speaker 4: going to be more of like... a fucking gossip girl
- 51:30Speaker 4: or it's gonna be like one of those other.
- 51:31Speaker 8: Like girls not bad though yeah but it's it.
- 51:33Speaker 4: Falls into that category of putting the the pretty people
- 51:36Speaker 4: up there and they don't really seem like they're investing
- 51:38Speaker 4: too much into individual characters but the storyline of romance i.
- 51:43Speaker 9: Used to watch gossip girl like when it first came
- 51:45Speaker 9: out and i don't i've only seen a few episodes
- 51:47Speaker 9: but the characters are pretty well developed they'll have like
- 51:49Speaker 9: serious backstories and stuff like.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Again that's all from the books i guess i haven't
- 51:53Speaker 4: yeah bothered with them but I mean I know there
- 51:55Speaker 4: was a lot of back material that they could draw
- 51:58Speaker 4: from but just in general they also like any of
- 52:00Speaker 4: those shows on UPN or what used to be WB
- 52:03Speaker 4: kind of shows that were like they would work to
- 52:06Speaker 4: work in whatever the band of the week was that
- 52:09Speaker 4: sponsored them that week or they would be working in
- 52:11Speaker 4: whatever trendy thing was going on that week that somebody
- 52:13Speaker 4: had like donated money to them to get it worked
- 52:16Speaker 4: into the plot line like i'm afraid they're gonna go
- 52:18Speaker 4: that route and it's gonna be like 90210 is now
- 52:21Speaker 4: you know it's just like yeah one tree hill became
- 52:23Speaker 4: that crap that i'm afraid that's what they're gonna do
- 52:26Speaker 4: with it because they're gonna try to be like appealing
- 52:28Speaker 4: to that market so they're just gonna make it stupid
- 52:31Speaker 4: and whatever they can slap on the screen that will,
- 52:33Speaker 4: you know, get them money to back it and we'll
- 52:35Speaker 4: get it out there and the kids will think it's
- 52:36Speaker 4: cool and trendy and bullshit. You know, I'm just like,
- 52:39Speaker 4: if you're gonna write something, and that's why I brought
- 52:41Speaker 4: this one up. It's like, this is a property that's old.
- 52:44Speaker 4: You know, it needs new life breathed into it. So
- 52:47Speaker 4: if you're gonna do it, do it right. Do it,
- 52:50Speaker 4: you know, make her a smart girl and give her
- 52:52Speaker 4: something to do. Don't just make it something stupid. That's
- 52:55Speaker 4: a way for you to just promote whatever the product
- 52:58Speaker 4: of the week is.
- 52:58Speaker 8: I just really don't see that's working at all. Not
- 53:01Speaker 8: even close.
- 53:02Speaker 5: So I don't.
- 53:03Speaker 8: Really think it matters. Do they have anybody set up
- 53:04Speaker 8: to play her yet?
- 53:05Speaker 4: No, they're just at the point of starting to write it.
- 53:07Speaker 5: But that's, I mean, that was my thing. And that's
- 53:09Speaker 5: kind of why I wanted to throw it out there.
- 53:10Speaker 4: I was like, it's just, we usually bitch about them,
- 53:13Speaker 4: you know, just generally making remakes. And I'm like, there's
- 53:16Speaker 4: times when things need to be remade that, that, It's
- 53:19Speaker 4: not sacrilege to go back when it's been long enough
- 53:21Speaker 4: that it really is a different idea. It's a different
- 53:24Speaker 4: world than it was when this came out and you
- 53:27Speaker 4: can do something different with it. It's just when they
- 53:29Speaker 4: do like me bitching about the fucking movie last week
- 53:33Speaker 4: where they basically took sort of an idea and just
- 53:36Speaker 4: slapped new people in there.
- 53:37Speaker 5: And that's what I'm afraid of.
- 53:38Speaker 4: That was a bunch of these stupid little vapid characters
- 53:41Speaker 4: that like had nothing to do and drove around in
- 53:44Speaker 4: their fancy cars the whole time. And like in the end,
- 53:46Speaker 4: there was nothing to it. Like there was no character.
- 53:48Speaker 4: There was no people at all. It was just they
- 53:51Speaker 4: filled in the little spots and, you know, did play
- 53:53Speaker 4: their part and.
- 53:54Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 53:54Speaker 4: I'm afraid that's what they'll end up doing with this
- 53:56Speaker 4: because they're so busy trying to be trendy with it.
- 53:58Speaker 2: God.
- 53:59Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 54:01Speaker 7: We shall see.
- 54:01Speaker 9: Speaking of Gossip Girl, Brian, I think you should just
- 54:03Speaker 9: watch a couple episodes of it. Not because I think
- 54:06Speaker 9: you'd be super into it, but I really think you'd
- 54:08Speaker 9: like Blair Waldorf's character.
- 54:10Speaker 8: She is so evil and devious and adorable.
- 54:14Speaker 5: Well, I do like that.
- 54:15Speaker 9: She always wears bows in her hair and keep dresses
- 54:18Speaker 9: and stuff, which is why I watched the show in
- 54:20Speaker 9: the first place.
- 54:21Speaker 5: And you like hot young girls, but that hasn't sold
- 54:23Speaker 5: me so far.
- 54:24Speaker 8: No, you'd like it because she's really evil. All right.
- 54:29Speaker 4: Well, continuing on into our Wookiee Fest here, we will
- 54:33Speaker 4: move into the interview portion.
- 54:35Speaker 5: And I did actually sit down and talk to Peter Mayhew.
- 54:38Speaker 4: And this was actually impressive for the show in general
- 54:41Speaker 4: because I was at this place with him.
- 54:43Speaker 5: And, like, later on in.
- 54:44Speaker 4: The weekend, I was talking to a guy who worked for,
- 54:48Speaker 4: it was either Chicago Tribune or Chicago Sun-Times.
- 54:52Speaker 5: And he was trying to get an interview, and he
- 54:54Speaker 5: turned him down. Ooh, that's right. And yet, I got it.
- 54:56Speaker 7: He did not turn us down.
- 54:59Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 54:59Speaker 5: Movie Mouth Down is awesome. I'm just saying.
- 55:03Speaker 4: And you don't want to argue with Peter Mayhew because
- 55:05Speaker 4: he could crush you. His hands are the size of
- 55:07Speaker 4: this table.
- 55:07Speaker 7: He'll palm your head.
- 55:08Speaker 4: Yeah, his hands are huge. It's just weird. So yeah,
- 55:13Speaker 4: you don't argue with Peter Mayhew. I just thought it
- 55:16Speaker 4: was awesome that we actually did get to talk to him.
- 55:19Speaker 4: And that's sort of what leads us to the movie
- 55:22Speaker 4: of the week. That's what I was going into is
- 55:24Speaker 4: usually we'll pull stuff and we'll talk to these people.
- 55:26Speaker 4: And I, you know, there comes a point where you've
- 55:28Speaker 4: got to ask them about the big titles. But with
- 55:31Speaker 4: most people, like even when I talked to Billy Dee Williams,
- 55:33Speaker 4: I was like, okay, everybody asked you about being fucking Lando.
- 55:36Speaker 5: I want to ask you about, you know, blaxploitation movies
- 55:38Speaker 5: you made, you know, 10, 15 years before that.
- 55:41Speaker 4: So I think I like to just find other things
- 55:43Speaker 4: that people haven't beat to death. So I mean, we
- 55:47Speaker 4: talk a little bit about Star Wars, but I was
- 55:48Speaker 4: trying to go back and find something else. Peter Mayhew
- 55:52Speaker 4: is not really an actor. He came into it way
- 55:57Speaker 4: late in the game. He basically sort of got cast,
- 56:00Speaker 4: I think, because he fit the role. He fit the
- 56:03Speaker 4: physical thing that they.
- 56:04Speaker 5: Were looking for.
- 56:05Speaker 4: So there's not really a whole lot to draw on
- 56:07Speaker 4: in his career. There's one other notable thing that we
- 56:11Speaker 4: talk about. He's in Sinbad and the Eye of the
- 56:14Speaker 4: Golden Tiger, I think. He's the minotaur in that, in
- 56:17Speaker 4: the big outfit.
- 56:18Speaker 5: Makes sense. So that was one, and I'd be up
- 56:21Speaker 5: for watching that. Oh, yes, definitely.
- 56:23Speaker 4: But yeah, other than that, there's not a whole lot
- 56:25Speaker 4: to go with in this one. So we'll get to
- 56:27Speaker 4: his other big film role later today. For now, we'll
- 56:32Speaker 4: see what Peter has to say about his acting career
- 56:35Speaker 4: in general.
- 56:35Speaker 5: So, here you go.
- 56:36Speaker 2: So, we're here with Peter.
- 56:38Speaker 5: You were born in Barnes, England.
- 56:40Speaker 15: Did you have an interest in performing when you were younger?
- 56:43Speaker 5: No.
- 56:45Speaker 12: I just wanted, you know, I had no interest in
- 56:50Speaker 12: theatricals or the performing arts, up until.
- 56:56Speaker 10: You know, sort of, I was quite old, and just
- 57:01Speaker 10: the opportunity just came.
- 57:02Speaker 5: Along, so.
- 57:05Speaker 15: Yeah, you were, I guess, I think like an orderly
- 57:07Speaker 15: at that point.
- 57:08Speaker 5: And had somebody just ask you to be it?
- 57:11Speaker 12: They were looking for someone big for Sinbad Miata Tiger.
- 57:16Speaker 12: I just happened to fit the bill, did that, that
- 57:20Speaker 12: led to meeting other people, Star Wars came along after that,
- 57:24Speaker 12: you know, and it.
- 57:26Speaker 2: Was a gradual procession.
- 57:28Speaker 12: To, you know, went up, got the interview, thank you
- 57:33Speaker 12: very much, and the rest of it's history.
- 57:37Speaker 15: What was the cost here for the Minnesota War?
- 57:40Speaker 2: How hard was that to wear? That was fiberglass.
- 57:43Speaker 12: It had about 60 inches, so it was big.
- 57:51Speaker 2: I figured that if you could deal.
- 57:53Speaker 12: With that, you could deal with almost anything. Anybody could
- 58:00Speaker 12: throw at you, so you just went, okay, I can
- 58:04Speaker 12: do this, I can do this, and progressed along easily,
- 58:08Speaker 12: no problems. And that's how, as I say, that's how
- 58:14Speaker 12: it all got started.
- 58:16Speaker 15: And then as you got into Star Wars, they kind
- 58:19Speaker 15: of let you pick whether you wanted to be Vader
- 58:21Speaker 15: or Chewbacca?
- 58:23Speaker 10: No.
- 58:24Speaker 2: No. That's... I.
- 58:27Speaker 12: Dave Rouse, who now plays Vader, was offered the choice
- 58:35Speaker 12: of either Vader or Chewie.
- 58:37Speaker 3: Ah.
- 58:38Speaker 12: And he chose Vader because he didn't want to.
- 58:42Speaker 5: Become a masked character.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Look what happened to him. So they were looking around.
- 58:50Speaker 2: I get this call.
- 58:51Speaker 12: Go up, look at the character, think, yes, that's a
- 58:56Speaker 12: challenge because you try and turn it from a one-dimensional
- 59:02Speaker 12: character into a three-dimensional character.
- 59:04Speaker 2: If you can do that, you can do anything. And
- 59:09Speaker 2: I think I've just... proved that it doesn't.
- 59:11Speaker 12: Take that much to do, if the costume's right and
- 59:16Speaker 12: your attitude's right, you can do almost anything.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you definitely.
- 59:24Speaker 15: Found a good way to express yourself clearly.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly.
- 59:29Speaker 12: When we were talking, I figured the only thing you
- 59:32Speaker 12: can't do is talk humanly. I figured, right, this is
- 59:39Speaker 12: going to be a month. It's logical. And look, we
- 59:46Speaker 12: did it. I thought, well, you know, they will tell
- 59:51Speaker 12: me if I'm doing anything wrong.
- 59:53Speaker 2: Nobody said a word.
- 59:55Speaker 4: End of story.
- 1:00:00Speaker 12: Last shots were done. Nobody had said anything. I'm just
- 1:00:05Speaker 12: waiting there.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:00:06Speaker 11: Done.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Down the road. And wait for the next one.
- 1:00:12Speaker 12: Yep.
- 1:00:12Speaker 10: So, as I said, it was one of those things.
- 1:00:16Speaker 10: I was very, very relieved when I got a phone
- 1:00:21Speaker 10: call with Planning Empire.
- 1:00:23Speaker 12: And, you know, your character's still alive. we need you
- 1:00:31Speaker 12: thank you very much went back just had a ball
- 1:00:35Speaker 12: i knew because i knew the character i knew what
- 1:00:38Speaker 12: he could do what he couldn't do what we should
- 1:00:40Speaker 12: do because by this time you've got you've got a
- 1:00:43Speaker 12: lot of comments from the fans through.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: The first Yeah, yeah, exactly. Which I hadn't intended to do.
- 1:00:53Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: But it was done. Yeah, we did it.
- 1:00:55Speaker 12: And he's become one of those interesting characters that.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: People from 9 to 90 enjoy.
- 1:01:06Speaker 12: So it's, as I say, one of those crazy things,
- 1:01:10Speaker 12: but it works.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:01:13Speaker 15: And then you came back to play it for Revenge
- 1:01:15Speaker 15: of the Sith. What was it like getting back into
- 1:01:17Speaker 15: the costume 20-some years later?
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: No problem.
- 1:01:21Speaker 13: Yeah?
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: I knew.
- 1:01:25Speaker 12: I think if you're mentally prepared for yourself, that you
- 1:01:29Speaker 12: know that costume, you know that, you literally know the.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Costume inside out.
- 1:01:35Speaker 12: And it was a question of, right, okay, I've done
- 1:01:39Speaker 12: this once, I can do it again. And we had
- 1:01:44Speaker 12: a great bunch, I think it was all the, with
- 1:01:46Speaker 12: Hayden and Ewan and Natalie, were all raised in Star Wars.
- 1:01:54Speaker 12: You know, Sam Jackson was there and we just had
- 1:01:57Speaker 12: a ball.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: It was nice to.
- 1:01:59Speaker 12: Go back and be part, you know, not be the
- 1:02:03Speaker 12: new shoot as I had.
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: Been in the original.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: The early thing. Knowing what you could, knowing what.
- 1:02:12Speaker 12: Was expected of the character, we just got in, got on,
- 1:02:16Speaker 12: did it, and hopefully it was in the right order
- 1:02:20Speaker 12: and the right way.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: I'd say so. I think we've done more.
- 1:02:24Speaker 15: Was there any other upcoming projects you've got going?
- 1:02:30Speaker 12: Well, we did a movie about 18 months, two years
- 1:02:34Speaker 12: ago that we found has just been got a distributor.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: It's already made. It's all ready to go. That's one
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: of our projects. It should be out in cinemas soon.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe this year, maybe.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: The next year.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: Okay, thank you very much. Peter, I miss you.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: So yeah, we did want to thank Peter for sitting
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: down to talk to us, and here, he can tell
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: you where to get a hold of him.
- 1:03:05Speaker 12: You can contact me on my own website. P-W-M-A-Q at
- 1:03:10Speaker 12: A-O-O dot com.
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: So yeah, that is Peter.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: He was, I'm telling you, he was eating M &
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: M' s and they looked like sixlets.
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: Yeah, they were just like teeny little peas.
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: They were. He was sitting there eating M & M' s
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: and it was just like.
- 1:03:23Speaker 8: Sixlets and M & M' s are not that different.
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: Well, these were peanut M & M' s.
- 1:03:26Speaker 7: Yeah, they were big ones and they looked like little...
- 1:03:30Speaker 7: It was creepy.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: But he's an interesting guy, and he was nice enough
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: that he put up with me, and that's pretty awesome, actually.
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: Good for him.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: And we will come back to watch one of his major,
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: major films in his career, Terror.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: So, yeah, if nothing else, you know.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Ah.
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I wanted to set it up because, yeah, like
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: I said, there's not a whole lot in his back catalog. So, yeah,
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: I think you guys will be interested to see what
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: it is, his big role in this movie is the
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: starring vehicle for Peter Mayhew. So we'll invite you to
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: come back and join us for part two when we

- 1:04:57Speaker 5: Chewbacca Chewie Chewie is that you?
