- 0:43Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Table Talk here at the Philadelphia
- 0:45Speaker 1: Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports
- 0:49Speaker 1: podcast show in the world, over twelve and a half
- 0:52Speaker 1: years strong, and as we're starting out twenty twenty six
- 0:55Speaker 1: here at the PST podcast show, got a great guest.
- 0:57Speaker 1: We are going to be diving into the Lee Valley Phantoms,
- 1:01Speaker 1: the AHL team of Philadelphia Flyers, and to talk about
- 1:05Speaker 1: this farm system and what we've been seeing this year.
- 1:08Speaker 1: First time we're diving into the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Got
- 1:11Speaker 1: our good friend Madeline Campbell here with us. Madeline, thanks
- 1:14Speaker 1: so much for joining us.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Thanks for having me.
- 1:16Speaker 1: It's great having you. You've been doing some great work
- 1:18Speaker 1: over at PHL Y by the way, been really enjoying that. Yes,
- 1:22Speaker 1: I am a subscriber, and I actually told our mutual
- 1:26Speaker 1: friend Charlie O'Connor when he actually went from the Athletic
- 1:29Speaker 1: over to PHL Wie, that's what actually did it for me.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I canceled my subscription to the Athletic and I'm like,
- 1:34Speaker 1: all right, PHL wise where it's at.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, well, we.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Got to get into this Flyers team. Oh. Actually, before
- 1:41Speaker 1: we do that, let everybody know where they can find
- 1:42Speaker 1: you on the socials out there, and I know you're
- 1:43Speaker 1: over at Broadstreet Hockey dot com as well.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Right, Yes, I'm I always say that I'm like technically
- 1:50Speaker 2: on Twitter, technically on Bluesky, not using them super often. Right,
- 1:56Speaker 2: find the meaningful coverage over on Broadstreet Hockey and pha Joe.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Why absolutely, that's where the good stuff is that Madeline
- 2:03Speaker 1: is putting out there for us. Love reading her articles
- 2:07Speaker 1: and her content. So let's dive into this Phantoms team
- 2:11Speaker 1: and what we have seen thus far, Madeline, because I
- 2:15Speaker 1: love the fact and I think if you are a
- 2:17Speaker 1: member of Flyers and Nation and you dive into what
- 2:20Speaker 1: the team is, what the farm system is looking like.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Right now, the Leo Valley Phantoms are currently fourth in
- 2:26Speaker 1: the Eastern Conference at this point, they're third in the
- 2:28Speaker 1: Atlantic Division. And it's just been a fun season so
- 2:31Speaker 1: far following this team, and although injuries have kind of
- 2:36Speaker 1: plagued them as of late, which we're going to be
- 2:38Speaker 1: getting into in a bit again, still fun to watch
- 2:42Speaker 1: them night after night. So I'm wondering if you had
- 2:46Speaker 1: one word to describe this Lehigh Valley Phantoms team during
- 2:49Speaker 1: this twenty twenty five twenty twenty six season. What would
- 2:52Speaker 1: that one word be and why feel free to be
- 2:54Speaker 1: as detailed as you want, my friend, it feels like a.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Bit of a cop out to say, but it's developing
- 3:02Speaker 2: would be the word for them. Obviously, they have a
- 3:05Speaker 2: ton of skill and they've been so fun to watch,
- 3:07Speaker 2: but you know, they're still, by and large, a really
- 3:11Speaker 2: young team that's figuring out the rhythms of a long
- 3:15Speaker 2: AHL season, figuring out how to win at this level.
- 3:18Speaker 2: So definitely some highs and lows, but they're working through it,
- 3:22Speaker 2: and I think even when they've been struggling a little bit,
- 3:25Speaker 2: they've avoided the thing that they've fallen into over the
- 3:28Speaker 2: last few seasons, which is looking like the wheels are
- 3:31Speaker 2: completely coming off. So I've been really pleased with what
- 3:36Speaker 2: we've seen from them so far this season, and they've
- 3:39Speaker 2: definitely been getting things going in the right direction again
- 3:41Speaker 2: of late, which has been really nice.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Do you think it's more the coaching or do you
- 3:44Speaker 1: think it really is the talent level that's been able
- 3:46Speaker 1: to step up the talent level that is developing, Like
- 3:48Speaker 1: you said, I mean, what are your thoughts there? Is
- 3:50Speaker 1: it a little bit of both or what are you
- 3:53Speaker 1: thinking as you've been watching this team this season.
- 3:56Speaker 2: It's definitely a bit of both. I think they've for
- 3:58Speaker 2: sure kind of raised the floor of this team just
- 4:03Speaker 2: roster lineup wise. They've got a lot more skill than
- 4:06Speaker 2: they've had in the past, but it's not like they
- 4:08Speaker 2: haven't had skill over the past few seasons. So I
- 4:12Speaker 2: think having a new voice in the room, well newish
- 4:16Speaker 2: it's he was an internal promotion, but new voice in
- 4:20Speaker 2: charge of everything, and I would say a more focused system,
- 4:27Speaker 2: a more complete system.
- 4:29Speaker 1: That's a great word focused. Yeah, that's a great word focused.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Can you do you mind maybe expounding on that just
- 4:34Speaker 1: a little bit for the listeners, just so they can
- 4:36Speaker 1: understand that focus. It necessarily wasn't there in certain spots,
- 4:42Speaker 1: of course in years past, but we have seen that.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Can you describe that maybe a little bit?
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I think they've been playing a lot more disciplined
- 4:50Speaker 2: this year, and that comes with the obvious of taking fewer,
- 4:55Speaker 2: like really ugly ill timed penalties, which is something that
- 4:58Speaker 2: they really struggle with a lot last year. But they've
- 5:01Speaker 2: been I would say, in general, more dialed into the
- 5:06Speaker 2: fundamentals of their system. They've been playing an up tempo
- 5:10Speaker 2: transition game, and they've been sticking to that for the
- 5:12Speaker 2: most part. They've been competing well generally. But I think
- 5:18Speaker 2: also just I want to be careful how I say this,
- 5:21Speaker 2: because I don't want to be too mean about a
- 5:24Speaker 2: coach that's not here anymore.
- 5:26Speaker 1: But eyes are different, though, I mean, things are different,
- 5:29Speaker 1: and there are different realities, or there is a reality
- 5:32Speaker 1: and a truth, and sometimes it's okay to say that.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I mean, it just is. You know, sometimes certain coaches
- 5:38Speaker 1: in certain spots just might not be the best for
- 5:42Speaker 1: that particular roster, the particular point in time in which
- 5:46Speaker 1: that team needs that coach or doesn't need that coach.
- 5:49Speaker 1: So I know what you're saying.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I think kind of the big thing is last season,
- 5:55Speaker 2: when things weren't super going well for the Fantoms, the
- 5:58Speaker 2: thing that we were hearing from Ian Laperrier was a
- 6:01Speaker 2: lot of we need to be winning our battles, we
- 6:03Speaker 2: need to be competing harder, we need to be harder
- 6:05Speaker 2: to play against, which was sort of like, okay, yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 2: but yeah, may you get us a little bit like
- 6:11Speaker 2: there are more finer points of things that are not
- 6:16Speaker 2: working right now. Are you giving a more detailed message
- 6:19Speaker 2: to the team. I don't know. And with Snowden, it's
- 6:23Speaker 2: been such a difference. He's been incredibly detail oriented and
- 6:29Speaker 2: it seems like they have just a more concrete plan
- 6:32Speaker 2: going into all of these games, and execution has varied,
- 6:36Speaker 2: which you know is going to happen over the course
- 6:38Speaker 2: of a long season. But I think that has been
- 6:40Speaker 2: a real difference maker.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, I and look that inevitably is going to
- 6:44Speaker 1: help with the development of these players that we want
- 6:47Speaker 1: to see developing. And as we're moving along, I had
- 6:50Speaker 1: mentioned that the team has been facing a slew of
- 6:54Speaker 1: injuries as of late. I mean they've they've recently missed
- 6:57Speaker 1: I think what four of their top five scores, So
- 7:01Speaker 1: from an offensive standpoint, yeah, there have been some challenges.
- 7:04Speaker 1: There have been some struggles as of late, Matt Madeline.
- 7:07Speaker 1: But like some of the depth though, is finding its
- 7:11Speaker 1: way here. So what have you seen in terms of
- 7:13Speaker 1: that depth really stepping up with the injuries we've seen
- 7:17Speaker 1: as of late.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Yeah, they definitely had the chance to really go off
- 7:21Speaker 2: the rails here recently. I mean they already lost Carl
- 7:25Speaker 2: Grunstrom to a call up to the Flyers, and then
- 7:29Speaker 2: not too long after they lose Denver Barkie deservedly love
- 7:33Speaker 2: that he got that call up.
- 7:34Speaker 1: But great first goal, by the way, great first goal
- 7:37Speaker 1: of the season at the NHL level.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yes, so cool, yes, but you know, not great timing
- 7:43Speaker 2: for the Phantoms on that one. The first game he's gone,
- 7:47Speaker 2: they lose Alex Bump to an injury, and then like
- 7:50Speaker 2: a game later, Anthony Richard goes to the Spangler Cup
- 7:53Speaker 2: for Canada, so he's away from them for a week.
- 7:56Speaker 2: It's like good for you know, good for him as well.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Very cool opportunity, but looking a little thin for a
- 8:04Speaker 2: little bit there. But you know it's they've been getting
- 8:09Speaker 2: good production elsewhere in their lineup, which has been good
- 8:15Speaker 2: certainly a boost that their last man's standing of that
- 8:18Speaker 2: top five producers, and Laide Peterson has stayed consistent, stayed hot,
- 8:24Speaker 2: but he's been getting helped too. I mean, even when
- 8:28Speaker 2: things were not going so great, they were getting some
- 8:30Speaker 2: good production from Tucker robertson, from Jacob Goshe and I
- 8:34Speaker 2: think it's been nice to see them setting an example
- 8:39Speaker 2: there because those are guys who are not going to
- 8:43Speaker 2: fall into the trap of doing a little bit too much, overpassing,
- 8:47Speaker 2: over complicating their chances they're getting to the net, they're
- 8:50Speaker 2: playing hard, they're playing interior, and that's kind of what
- 8:53Speaker 2: the team needed to focus on the basics there. So
- 8:57Speaker 2: that was good. Even last weekend all of Helgey Grond's,
- 9:03Speaker 2: Ty Murchison and Oliver Bonk got goals, so they're getting
- 9:07Speaker 2: scoring from the back end too. So everybody's kind of
- 9:10Speaker 2: stepping up, which has been nice to see. I mean,
- 9:13Speaker 2: they keep talking about that next man up mentality and
- 9:17Speaker 2: it's really been coming through for them and the depth
- 9:20Speaker 2: that at times the season has been like what are
- 9:23Speaker 2: they going to do with all of these guys?
- 9:24Speaker 1: They've been so many.
- 9:25Speaker 2: People that is really turning out to be a benefit
- 9:29Speaker 2: for them here.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean and inevitably, and it goes back to
- 9:33Speaker 1: our initial talking point of the development of this team,
- 9:36Speaker 1: like that's what's happening here. You're actually seeing some of
- 9:38Speaker 1: these guys developing because they're getting the opportunity out on
- 9:42Speaker 1: the ice and it's really great to see. And you know,
- 9:45Speaker 1: before we go to our break here, Madeline, you know
- 9:48Speaker 1: you you recently wrote a piece over at phl y
- 9:51Speaker 1: about how the Phantoms are working with a surplus of
- 9:54Speaker 1: defencemen and you know, we also saw and we got
- 9:58Speaker 1: to bring them up. Hunter McDonald pretty good defenseman for
- 10:01Speaker 1: the Flyer, for the Flyers, for the Phantoms, I mean,
- 10:04Speaker 1: and he got bench due to some really poor discipline
- 10:07Speaker 1: play in recent games here. And I'm wondering, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 1: you you you did a really good job of assessing
- 10:13Speaker 1: this over at PHL Y do you think Hunter McDonald
- 10:17Speaker 1: is going to see any long term repercussions from that,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you know, that undisciplined type of play that he was
- 10:23Speaker 1: having as of late. And second, how will his play
- 10:27Speaker 1: or even possibly seeing lack of play on the ice
- 10:30Speaker 1: in the future, How might that affect the defensive rotations
- 10:33Speaker 1: from game to game here. I know it's like a
- 10:35Speaker 1: two part question, but I think it's an interesting storyline.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been a lot going on on the back
- 10:42Speaker 2: end for them, for sure. Yeah. I think McDonald had
- 10:47Speaker 2: one like, really really rough game which is what prompted
- 10:50Speaker 2: the benching, and then two healthy scratchings in a row.
- 10:55Speaker 2: He took the two pretty undisciplined penalties, which was a
- 10:59Speaker 2: big issue for him last season. I thought he had
- 11:02Speaker 2: made some progress in that area through the beginning of
- 11:04Speaker 2: the season, but it really got.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Away slipped back slipped, back.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, But it's not even just the penalties that were
- 11:11Speaker 2: the issue for him. He was on the ice for
- 11:13Speaker 2: one goal against and got caught up in kind of
- 11:16Speaker 2: a scramble in front of the net and puck comes
- 11:18Speaker 2: to him. Instead of taking a beat to try to
- 11:21Speaker 2: make a play, he just slaps it out, gets it
- 11:25Speaker 2: away as soon as possible, and it's on the tape
- 11:27Speaker 2: of an opponent and they score on that chance. So
- 11:30Speaker 2: I think discipline is a whole thing, but it seemed
- 11:34Speaker 2: like just his play was slipping a little bit in general.
- 11:37Speaker 2: There was a little bit more panic coming into his play.
- 11:39Speaker 2: His timing was a little bit off, so I think
- 11:43Speaker 2: he needed a bit of a reset with all of
- 11:46Speaker 2: that kind of snowballing on him. I don't know that
- 11:50Speaker 2: that is going to continue to be working against him.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I think the poor game they've addressed with the scratchings,
- 12:01Speaker 2: so hopefully that's behind him. But you know, I do
- 12:04Speaker 2: think he is going to be on a bit of
- 12:06Speaker 2: a shorter leash, just because.
- 12:08Speaker 1: That's essentially what I was going to be asking there.
- 12:10Speaker 1: You know, it seems like he is going to be
- 12:12Speaker 1: on a short leash here.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah, And I mean everybody is going to have to
- 12:15Speaker 2: sit at some point. They've got right now eight healthy defense,
- 12:18Speaker 2: and it was nine for a hot second there before
- 12:20Speaker 2: this Mullet trade, and they want to be fair to everybody.
- 12:24Speaker 2: They've got to get everybody into the lineup at some point.
- 12:27Speaker 2: So you know, they're even going to have guys sitting
- 12:31Speaker 2: after playing a really good game, just because that's the
- 12:34Speaker 2: reality of their situation right now. But it's also kind
- 12:39Speaker 2: of in his hands whether he stays in the lineup
- 12:43Speaker 2: for good play or if he continues to kind of
- 12:46Speaker 2: let things snowball on him a little bit and sees
- 12:49Speaker 2: some scratching because of performance. And I mean, he's not
- 12:51Speaker 2: the only one this season who's had to take a
- 12:54Speaker 2: seat get a bit of a reset. But as much
- 12:57Speaker 2: as they're kind of juggling the best interest of everybody
- 13:02Speaker 2: being fair, all of these guys kind of are the
- 13:06Speaker 2: masters of their own fate at this point.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why it's interesting to watch what is going
- 13:10Speaker 1: to be happening with this team moving forward the rest
- 13:13Speaker 1: of this season.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Here.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I mean, there's a lot of interesting pieces at play,
- 13:17Speaker 1: for sure, and we are going to go to break here.
- 13:20Speaker 1: But again, folks, we're talking to Madeline Campbell from Broadstreet
- 13:23Speaker 1: Hockey dot com and over at phl Y. I subscribe
- 13:26Speaker 1: to both. You should as well if you are a
- 13:28Speaker 1: Flyers fan and you're interested in what's going on in
- 13:31Speaker 1: the AHL and specifically with regard to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Madeline is fantastic in terms of providing that content. So
- 13:39Speaker 1: we are going to go to break here. But before
- 13:41Speaker 1: we do, if you're watching on YouTube, like and subscribe
- 13:44Speaker 1: to us, and you can also hit the bell to
- 13:46Speaker 1: be notified when we post new videos about the world
- 13:49Speaker 1: of Philly sports and the sports world in general. We
- 13:53Speaker 1: are going to take that break now and when we
- 13:55Speaker 1: get back more Lehigh Valley Phantoms talk, stick with us.
- 14:00Speaker 1: All right, We are back with our good friend Madeline
- 14:02Speaker 1: Campbell from phl Y and Broadstreet Hockey dot Com. Great
- 14:07Speaker 1: great content on those websites about the world of Flyers
- 14:10Speaker 1: Hockey and the Flyers farm system as well. So as
- 14:14Speaker 1: we continue to dive into the Lei Valley phantoms. Uh,
- 14:18Speaker 1: you know, every year, Madeline, it seems like they're a couple.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Are a few players that really surprise us, like from
- 14:24Speaker 1: a positive standpoint, and I'm wondering, you know, are there
- 14:27Speaker 1: some Phantoms players that have been most surprising for you
- 14:30Speaker 1: to watch this season, where you're you know, raising your
- 14:33Speaker 1: eyebrown saying, wow, this this player has really got something
- 14:36Speaker 1: going on here. What are your what are your thoughts here?
- 14:39Speaker 1: I think one of the.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Fun things about this season is that there have been
- 14:42Speaker 2: so many pleasant surprises so far. Denver Barkie was an
- 14:47Speaker 2: immediate kind of standout. I mean that feels a little
- 14:50Speaker 2: silly to say, because obviously we know how highly touted
- 14:53Speaker 2: he is as a prospect, we know what he can
- 14:56Speaker 2: do offensively, but I always kind of got the sense
- 14:59Speaker 2: that there was going to be a little bit of
- 15:00Speaker 2: a learning curve for him, but honestly not really, that's
- 15:05Speaker 2: not how it panned out. His for checking game was
- 15:09Speaker 2: clicking right from game one, and he was finding ways
- 15:14Speaker 2: to be effective out there for the team, even when
- 15:17Speaker 2: he was having a little bit of a slow start offensively,
- 15:21Speaker 2: and I think that did feed into why he earned
- 15:24Speaker 2: that call up so early. So he's been a real
- 15:28Speaker 2: blast to watch. Similarly, Carson Bjarnisen has been settling in
- 15:34Speaker 2: quicker than I was expecting. It's still like, you know,
- 15:37Speaker 2: he'll have an off game here and there.
- 15:39Speaker 1: There's some hiccups with him, but he's fun to watch.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Yeah, he's been figuring it out really quickly, which has
- 15:44Speaker 2: been awesome to see. Christian Cairou was a pleasant surprise
- 15:49Speaker 2: when he came over in that trade for Samue Touamala.
- 15:52Speaker 2: He's cooled off a little bit recently, but you know,
- 15:54Speaker 2: it's been an interesting addition for sure. And Ty Murchison
- 15:59Speaker 2: as well. Had you been getting the same amount of love,
- 16:03Speaker 2: I think through the beginning of the season, just by
- 16:06Speaker 2: nature of the type of game he plays, but I
- 16:10Speaker 2: thought he really stepped up as a stable force for
- 16:14Speaker 2: them through the beginning of the season. Honestly, it kind
- 16:17Speaker 2: of felt like he was having the rookie year that
- 16:19Speaker 2: they were hoping Hunter McDonald would have the year before. Yeah,
- 16:24Speaker 2: so he was great for them too as well. I
- 16:26Speaker 2: mean still is, but yeah, he's prior to the call up,
- 16:29Speaker 2: he was doing kind of surprisingly well. Yeah.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, look on the flip side of things, it's
- 16:35Speaker 1: great to focus on these key developmental players in these
- 16:39Speaker 1: key cogs within the system, these folks that have surprised us,
- 16:41Speaker 1: these players that have really raised our eyebrows. But on
- 16:44Speaker 1: the opposite side of the coin, there are those players
- 16:48Speaker 1: that get into funks players that aren't really living up
- 16:52Speaker 1: you know, in our opinion at times you know their
- 16:54Speaker 1: talent or what their expectations are, or I should say,
- 16:58Speaker 1: our expectations are for them. So I'm wondering which player
- 17:02Speaker 1: has in your opinion been the biggest disappointment so far
- 17:06Speaker 1: this season on this Phantoms team.
- 17:08Speaker 2: This might be controversial, but stick with me here, okay,
- 17:12Speaker 2: kind of Alex bum Oh, Okay, all right. I know
- 17:15Speaker 2: that feels a little wild. Like he's second on the
- 17:17Speaker 2: team in points right now, so it's not going that
- 17:20Speaker 2: badly for him. But I think a lot of the
- 17:24Speaker 2: early excitement for him this season was kind of driven
- 17:27Speaker 2: around a hot streak that he had, that piling up
- 17:30Speaker 2: of points. But I think his overall process has been
- 17:34Speaker 2: kind of wildly up and down, which is something that
- 17:38Speaker 2: the coaching staff is working with him on and it's
- 17:42Speaker 2: just been a bit of an adjustment for him coming
- 17:44Speaker 2: too the pro game. I think he really established himself
- 17:49Speaker 2: at college as kind of a volume shooter. He could
- 17:52Speaker 2: beat goaltenders from anywhere on the ice because his shot
- 17:54Speaker 2: is so good. He can't really get away with that
- 17:57Speaker 2: to the same degree against professional goalies in this league.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So it's hurting his consistency a little bit.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think he's had stretches where. I mean
- 18:07Speaker 2: I mentioned it before, but the coaching staff has been
- 18:09Speaker 2: really focusing on getting interior for his chances, you know,
- 18:15Speaker 2: finding better shot selection, and he's done it in stretches
- 18:21Speaker 2: there and he's looked really effective. But it seems like
- 18:24Speaker 2: he has maybe a couple of bad games and he
- 18:26Speaker 2: starts to backslide a little bit. He's just getting the
- 18:30Speaker 2: pac immediately shooting from anywhere, and he isn't really getting
- 18:34Speaker 2: the same quality of chances. He's not getting the production
- 18:38Speaker 2: off of those. So it's you know, it takes a
- 18:42Speaker 2: lot to really change your approach to the game, change
- 18:44Speaker 2: your mindset. So I think he's making progress there, but
- 18:49Speaker 2: you know, it's it's going to be a process. He's
- 18:52Speaker 2: not the first prospect he's come into this league and
- 18:55Speaker 2: has had to work through something like that. I think
- 18:58Speaker 2: Tyson Forrester is a really good example of somebody who's
- 19:00Speaker 2: had to work through a similar process and he turned
- 19:04Speaker 2: out okay.
- 19:04Speaker 1: So let folks, let us know what you're thinking about
- 19:07Speaker 1: in the comments if you're watching on YouTube, about what
- 19:09Speaker 1: Madeline just said with regard to Bump, leave us a
- 19:12Speaker 1: comment if you're watching on YouTube. We'd love to hear
- 19:15Speaker 1: from you for sure. And before we let you go,
- 19:18Speaker 1: my friend, you know, due to injuries at the big
- 19:23Speaker 1: league level that we see all too often during the
- 19:27Speaker 1: course of a season, you know, the Flyers are definitely
- 19:29Speaker 1: gonna have some injuries at some point down the road.
- 19:32Speaker 1: We're gonna end up seeing some call ups, most likely
- 19:35Speaker 1: at some point down the road in the coming month.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So I'm wondering, do you have maybe a couple players
- 19:39Speaker 1: in mind who might end up providing US fans with
- 19:42Speaker 1: some real promise in terms of them possibly possibly being
- 19:47Speaker 1: called up in the future this season? What are your
- 19:49Speaker 1: thoughts here?
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean all of that said, I think Bump
- 19:53Speaker 2: is still going to get a look with the Flyers
- 19:55Speaker 2: at some point this season. I think some people were
- 19:58Speaker 2: maybe hoping that it would be around on Christmas time,
- 20:00Speaker 2: but it hasn't really hanned out that way. But I
- 20:03Speaker 2: think he's still going to get a look at some point,
- 20:05Speaker 2: So don't panic, Okay.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Let panic.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see, you know,
- 20:15Speaker 2: if it plays out this way, Murchison get a longer look.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I thought he looked good in his three games up
- 20:20Speaker 2: with the Flyers, and he's been still plugging away nicely.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to see what he
- 20:26Speaker 2: could do with a little bit longer of a run.
- 20:30Speaker 2: And then also maybe like an Oliver Bonk. I know,
- 20:33Speaker 2: he had a late start to his season. He was
- 20:35Speaker 2: out until December with that injury, and he's only just
- 20:39Speaker 2: starting to really ramp up. Got his first goal over
- 20:42Speaker 2: the weekend, which was very cool. Yeah. I don't think
- 20:46Speaker 2: they're in a rush with him, but you know, if
- 20:48Speaker 2: he keeps playing well and a spot opens up, I
- 20:50Speaker 2: wouldn't be surprised if he gets a nod. Yeah. My
- 20:55Speaker 2: kind of wild card is if this is a lot
- 21:01Speaker 2: of ifs, but like if the Flyers the wheels totally
- 21:04Speaker 2: come off on them, they're out of the playoffs, like
- 21:06Speaker 2: comfortably by the end of the season, maybe we see
- 21:10Speaker 2: a guy like an Alexi Gendron.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Oh all right, Yeah, he's been a little.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Up and down this year, but I think he's making
- 21:18Speaker 2: progress in all the things that the coaching staff are
- 21:20Speaker 2: trying to work on with him, and you know, he's
- 21:23Speaker 2: been a pretty dependable player for them.
- 21:28Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, I love to be a fun one.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I think I'd love it would be fun for sure. Again, Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 3: Flyers would absolutely have to be out of the playoff
- 21:36Speaker 3: picture at that point for that to happen, and just
- 21:40Speaker 3: a lot of things would probably have to go wrong
- 21:43Speaker 3: that to happen.
- 21:45Speaker 2: All of that in mind, I'm hoping we don't end
- 21:47Speaker 2: up seeing him.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, and it works out that way. Absolutely an option.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Absolutely again, folks, She's Madeline Campbell from Broadstreet Hockey dot
