- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:14Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:43hypnosis session about reducing performance anxiety,
- 0:48specifically related to sex. And I was working with a client
- 0:53that because of early sexual experiences, they felt that
- 0:57there was a lot of pressure, a lot of judgement that they could
- 1:01get it wrong and what it would mean to them in terms of how
- 1:05they would judge themself and how other people would judge
- 1:08them if they didn't do it right or if they didn't do it well.
- 1:12And they had all these different ways of evaluating that in the
- 1:16early. Days of.
- 1:17Their adulthood and because of that, there's a saying in
- 1:21neuropsychology that neurons that.
- 1:24Fire. Together wire together.
- 1:26So if the idea of having sex is connected with this feeling.
- 1:30Of. Judgement, shame, pressure and
- 1:34high expectations and that feels horrible.
- 1:37Then it comes to a point where you might actually avoid certain
- 1:42situations that could lead to sex because you don't want to
- 1:46feel that horrible sensation of anxiety and pressure and this
- 1:50client. Had had.
- 1:51That experience and there was nothing physically wrong, it was
- 1:56just that their brain had linked up.
- 1:59Sex means pressure and that had became almost a way and almost a
- 2:03physiological reaction, but they didn't have that in every area
- 2:08of. Their life.
- 2:09Certain things like playing certain games or sports, if
- 2:12someone said, hey, do you want to play that game, they wouldn't
- 2:15feel the pressure or expectation.
- 2:16They would just feel like, yeah, of course that's a fun thing to
- 2:19do. So what this hypnosis session?
- 2:21Does is starts? To break the connection that sex
- 2:24means pressure or initiation of sex means pressure to a
- 2:29different belief system, that it means play, it means opportunity
- 2:35or fun. It just means a low stakes thing
- 2:37of connection and passion and fun things rather than pressured
- 2:42things. And in doing so, what we're
- 2:44actually doing here is harnessing the natural
- 2:47neuroplasticity of the human brain to create a new
- 2:51association. And that new association can
- 2:54happen if we find that pre-existing way of already
- 2:59thinking so that the neurons that fire together wire
- 3:02together. We're doing in an opposite way,
- 3:04finding really playful positive emotions and linking that to the
- 3:09idea of either responding to an an initiation of sex or
- 3:13initiating sex itself. So if you feel performance
- 3:17anxiety, the idea of having sex this session might be beneficial
- 3:21for you. Just be aware though that it was
- 3:23created for an individual. This happens to be a male client
- 3:27with a female client. Your situation may be different.
- 3:31So therefore some of these suggestions might be ideal for
- 3:34the client I was working with and not quite right for you.
- 3:36So pick and choose like any suggestions that feel like it's
- 3:39helping, like the broad suggestions that this is a low
- 3:44stakes, playful, curious kind of thing that might be useful.
- 3:47There might be others that aren't quite right.
- 3:49So just disregard any suggestions that don't quite fit
- 3:52you. And if you do like the idea of a
- 3:54bespoke session tailored exactly to you, there will be a link in
- 3:57the description or on my website adamcox.co.uk, and there you can
- 4:01schedule a free consultation call and we can explore working
- 4:04together. For now, though, find a quiet,
- 4:07comfortable place where you won't be distracted or
- 4:09disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:38Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 4:48resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 4:54And as you exhale, allow your eyelids to close, and as they do
- 5:01so, feel a sense of release, almost like any pent up
- 5:10pressure, stress, expectations that you have of yourself are
- 5:18being released in every outward breath.
- 5:27And when you breathe in, breathe in a wonderful feeling of calm
- 5:34confidence. You've had this feeling many
- 5:39times before, but as you breathe in, imagine breathing in that
- 5:44calm confidence. And as you exhale.
- 5:51Release the. Pressure, expectations and any
- 5:56fear of judgement, especially your own.
- 6:01Feel it. Leaving your body in that
- 6:05outward breath. And maybe you've already noticed
- 6:11that the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed and less pressured
- 6:18you feel. And the more relaxed you feel
- 6:23the deeper you breathe. Each breath is able to take you
- 6:29deeper and deeper. Relax.
- 6:33Now that's it. And I wonder if you can use the
- 6:47power of your imagination to think of a moment where someone
- 6:55suggested something and the moment they said it, you were
- 7:01immediately looking forward to that thing.
- 7:05Maybe a game, maybe an activity, maybe just an idea, and the
- 7:14moment you heard it, something conscious or unconscious
- 7:20evaluated that as something positive within your
- 7:25capabilities and fun or desirable.
- 7:32And as you go back to that memory, awaken all of those
- 7:36neurons that know how to get excited at the prospect of
- 7:42something, and then use the power of your imagination to
- 7:49imagine a place in nature where you feel deeply relaxed.
- 7:59And as you exhale, feel your body relax, maybe from your neck
- 8:05or your shoulders, your jaw, your arms or your legs.
- 8:11Because here, within your imagination, there is nothing
- 8:16you need to achieve, nothing to perform and nothing to prove.
- 8:24Here is just your imagination, a playground of possibility.
- 8:32And sometimes thinking about something feels like a rehearsal
- 8:42practice, just thoughts, all of which are safe.
- 8:50You can't get it wrong. Allow your body to begin doing
- 9:00what it naturally does when there is no threat, when there
- 9:04is no expectation. Your breathing finds its own
- 9:09rhythm. Your eyes rest even under your
- 9:14eyelids. And just imagine a dial, some
- 9:23kind of button, like a volume button there in your body that
- 9:27represents pressure. And as you breathe in and
- 9:32breathe out just right now turn it down.
- 9:39And whatever number it may have been, turn it down all the way
- 9:44to 1 or even 0. Because here there is no
- 9:50expectation, only curiosity. And sometimes the mind learns
- 9:59associations, just like a dog learns that that leash, that dog
- 10:07lead, means something specific. And your brain learned that
- 10:13certain cues, a phrase, a look, a touch, a suggestion or thought
- 10:24about what to do later, your brain thought that meant
- 10:29pressure. When the brain.
- 10:33Believes something means pressure.
- 10:37It creates a self fulfilling prophecy.
- 10:40It prepares for. Evaluation.
- 10:44And that evaluation means that you can get it right or get it
- 10:48wrong. It activates anxiety, not
- 10:54because something is wrong with you, but because your nervous
- 10:59system believed that it was helping.
- 11:05But you know, in all those times in the past where you really
- 11:10enjoyed something, you weren't evaluating how good or bad you
- 11:16were, that part of your brain was switched off and you just
- 11:22enjoyed. And I want you to imagine that
- 11:27part, a part within you, is now learning something new from you.
- 11:40That's why I want you to think of a.
- 11:42Very low stakes. Activity.
- 11:46Something playful, pressure free, light and fun.
- 11:54Maybe it's a moment where you were just knocking a ball back
- 11:58and forth with a friend, just having a conversation, going for
- 12:05a jog or a walk. No competition, no scoreboard,
- 12:13no audience. Just movement, connection,
- 12:19energy. And I want you to imagine you're
- 12:23back in your body in that scenario, feeling loose,
- 12:30responsive, engaged. Rewind it to before it even
- 12:37started. Imagine someone smiling or
- 12:41saying or messaging. Should we play later and just
- 12:46connect with that feeling of 0 pressure?
- 12:50Just possibility? And what if that is the new
- 12:56template? But when you hear words.
- 12:59Like maybe later, how about tonight?
- 13:07A certain tone of voice or a certain touch.
- 13:14Your brain now links it to not pressure, but play, not
- 13:22performance, not obligation play.
- 13:28And you know how to play. And you know from your childhood
- 13:33that play equals fun, not pressure.
- 13:40And when it has that meaning, that connotation, you get a
- 13:45sense that you can build a new way of thinking.
- 13:52Because anxiety does not appear instantly.
- 13:57It builds. I care.
- 14:00Slowly filling a balloon and you now know that you can interrupt
- 14:06the inflation before it ever gets to A6.
- 14:13Slow down time. So even if it's A1, imagine
- 14:19smiling. It's just energy, and energy can
- 14:26mean excitement. Part of you remembers how
- 14:34anxiety and excitement feel very similar in the body.
- 14:43The only difference is meaning. Excitement is an evaluation that
- 14:49something positive, fun, pleasurable will happen in the
- 14:54future. Anxiety.
- 15:00Anxiety thinks that something will go wrong in the future, and
- 15:05when the only difference is meaning, you get to decide what
- 15:11that meaning is. I want you to get a sense that
- 15:18if the connotation of something being instigated, initiated, it
- 15:24means that you get to have fun, to play, to experience joy and
- 15:30pleasure and connection with no judgement, no pressure.
- 15:39Isn't that something that will naturally open the door to
- 15:45positive evaluations and excitement?
- 15:51That's it. Connect with that feeling of
- 15:54excitement, and I want you to imagine you're observing
- 16:01something, perhaps in your own home.
- 16:06Observe your partner making a comment about what you may do
- 16:13together later, and for a moment just observe version of you that
- 16:23nearly runs the old pattern, but instead see yourself pausing and
- 16:34genuinely smiling in a calm, somewhat detached way.
- 16:42That version of you is running a new pattern, a pattern of play.
- 16:53I want you to see a version of you.
- 16:55That looks. Pressure free, no expectations,
- 16:59no judgement, no high stakes. I want you to imagine a version
- 17:05of you that can't lose. Whatever happens, life is
- 17:12enriched, enhanced. It's all just fun.
- 17:18See that version of you that is excited, calm, relaxed, and most
- 17:27of all playful? A light smile, eye contact,
- 17:33relax, body language. See that version of you looking
- 17:38grounded? See that version of you looking
- 17:43capable with choices, options, and then rewind that.
- 17:53And then imagine stepping into that version of you.
- 17:58Your partner is about to initiate sex, either for now or
- 18:02for later, and that version of you feels that it is a
- 18:09wonderful, positive opportunity for you to connect.
- 18:19Intimacy is not a test, not an exam and not an evaluation.
- 18:28Just two adults exploring connection.
- 18:32Low stakes, optional, collaborative.
- 18:38And this is just rehearsal, just your imagination, and you can
- 18:43feel something different, feel anticipation, curiosity,
- 18:53excitement. Rewind that and then imagine
- 19:00that it is now you initiating. Not as a big declaration, not as
- 19:09a dramatic build up, but lightly, playfully.
- 19:17I want you to get a sense of how calm you feel.
- 19:21No urgency, immune from rejection.
- 19:27If the response is positive, good.
- 19:30And if it's not right now, So what?
- 19:34It's just an invitation. If the invitation is accepted,
- 19:38great, and if not, equally fine. This is not a vote on your
- 19:49worth, because your worth does not change.
- 19:53Your value does not change. No rejection and no pressure,
- 19:59just timing. Feel immune to pressure and
- 20:06notice how powerful this feels. To initiate from strength,
- 20:14spontaneity, a desire to give, not take from curiosity.
- 20:25That's it. No pressure at all.
- 20:30And then imagine observing that version of you like you're in
- 20:33the room now or later, and just see how you initiate, see your
- 20:41posture, see those relaxed shoulders, easy breathing, how
- 20:48comfortable you look in your own skin.
- 20:52You look at. Ease rewind it.
- 20:56Step into that version of you. Take that.
- 20:59First person perspective, and then feel what it feels like to
- 21:04be that relaxed, that steady, that quietly confident.
- 21:12Because all along the issue was never the issue.
- 21:18The issue was that you were judging yourself harshly and it
- 21:23created a false connection that sex means pressure.
- 21:29And it never did to allow that nervous system to calm down.
- 21:35Sex now means connection, play, fun.
- 21:43Your thoughts are simple, your body is responsive rather than
- 21:48tense. And I want you to imagine
- 21:52switching from being in that version of you to observing that
- 21:58version of you and thinking of all the different environments
- 22:03that. You could either.
- 22:05Respond to initiation or initiate.
- 22:12Imagine hearing the phrases that once triggered anxiety, but now
- 22:18hear them through a different lens.
- 22:22Feel that when you hear the same words, they're now linked to
- 22:26playfulness, blightness, a low stakes shot to nothing.
- 22:33Then imagine the look, the touch, the suggestion, and each
- 22:40time you are connecting it with a feeling of fun play.
- 22:48Something you get to do, never have to do, because the meaning
- 22:55has now changed. It no longer means pressure, it
- 23:01means playful possibilities. And I think you're just two or
- 23:10three real life experiences away where intimacy is relaxed,
- 23:17playful, pressure free, and then the brain locks in this new
- 23:24pattern. And you don't need those two or
- 23:29three experiences straight away. Just know that when you have
- 23:34those two or three experiences, thinking, genuine playfulness,
- 23:41passion, excitement and fun, the absence of anxiety or pressure,
- 23:50then the old pathway weakens and the new one strengthens.
- 23:55Because neurons that fire together wire together and you
- 24:01are firing. Calm with intimacy, feel safe
- 24:08yet excited, connecting confidence with connection.
- 24:15From now on you will feel that. Intimacy is.
- 24:19Play, not performance. You're allowed to be relaxed.
- 24:25You're allowed to be curious. You're allowed to enjoy
- 24:29anticipation. You have nothing to prove,
- 24:35especially to yourself. You choose connection that comes
- 24:42from that confidence. And maybe you decide that when
- 24:49you initiate, you will initiate things that don't require you to
- 24:56have sex. Maybe you initiate foreplay.
- 25:02Maybe you initiate just touch connection.
- 25:10Maybe your focus is on your partner's pleasure, not your
- 25:15performance. And in doing so, you smile.
- 25:22Because this is a game, you cannot lose that.
- 25:30Is playful possibility. That is vitality.
- 25:36And before we leave this place in your imagination, imagine.
- 25:44Imagine it's a week or two weeks from now.
- 25:48Imagine that version of you calmly, confidently initiating
- 25:53something, embodying the core energy of playful possibility,
- 26:02and see that future version of you not needing alcohol or
- 26:07anything else. That version of you needs
- 26:11nothing other than yourself. That version of you prioritises
- 26:20play over pressure, choice over obligation, excitement over
- 26:27fear. Tilt that version of you.
- 26:31One day soon we'll start to forget what it was even like to
- 26:39feel that much pressure doing something entirely natural that
- 26:45your body already knows how to do.
- 26:49So as you leave that place, take those changes with you.
- 26:54That's it. Breathe in through your nose and
- 26:59out through your nose. Just wiggle your fingers, wiggle
- 27:03your toes, connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I
- 27:08now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you starting to count 123
- 27:16waking up 456 more alert 7-8 open your eyes.
