- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. All Right, we have playoffs, clinching
- 0:18Speaker 1: scenarios here, we have all kinds of news from the
- 0:21Speaker 1: league meeting outside of Dallas as well. And Steve White
- 0:25Speaker 1: Andrews Ceciliano was we welcome you to NFL Now. We
- 0:29Speaker 1: got bad news moments ago, but bad news that was
- 0:31Speaker 1: kind of expected out of Arizona. So the tough break
- 0:34Speaker 1: for Kyler Murray and the Cardinals beyond down for the
- 0:37Speaker 1: rest of the season a lot longer, and now the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Cardinals got to figure out how to move forward into
- 0:41Speaker 1: this offseason as well. The news is as expected. Kyler
- 0:45Speaker 1: Murray yesterday, third play of the game, non contact injury.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And when you see the non contact injury and when
- 0:53Speaker 1: you see the player reaction, you fear the worst. And
- 0:57Speaker 1: that's what we're telling you. It is. It's an a
- 0:59Speaker 1: c L tear for Kyler Murray, which means his season
- 1:04Speaker 1: is done. We to the calendar here, we're already well
- 1:06Speaker 1: into December. You have to wonder about the start of
- 1:10Speaker 1: next season and certainly what the Cardinals do here in
- 1:13Speaker 1: the off season. Let's make sense to that if we
- 1:17Speaker 1: can from our insiders the Rappaport. Tom Placeo joined us
- 1:21Speaker 1: there at the league meeting outside of Dallas e and
- 1:23Speaker 1: the m r I results came back just within the
- 1:26Speaker 1: last half hour. Yeah, m r I results are in
- 1:30Speaker 1: and Kyler Murray is now officially out for the season
- 1:33Speaker 1: suffering a torn a c L as the m r
- 1:36Speaker 1: I confirmed just a few minutes ago. And it's essentially
- 1:40Speaker 1: exactly what it looked like last night. He went down
- 1:42Speaker 1: with the non contact injury on that grass field and
- 1:46Speaker 1: you know, look to be in a lot of pain
- 1:47Speaker 1: right away, and the reaction from the players, reaction from
- 1:50Speaker 1: his teammates, from the trainers, you knew it was serious.
- 1:53Speaker 1: And so while we just got the m r I
- 1:54Speaker 1: results just a couple of minutes ago, it's pretty safe
- 1:57Speaker 1: to say those with the Arizona Cardinals have been assuming
- 2:01Speaker 1: thinking that this was going to be the case for
- 2:03Speaker 1: some time. So now it's gonna be hold McCoy going forward,
- 2:06Speaker 1: one of the more experienced backups in the NFL. So
- 2:09Speaker 1: when who has done at someone who was win has
- 2:11Speaker 1: won games for them. Uh, but he is also not
- 2:14Speaker 1: Kyler Murray. And one note here, Tom, It's Kyla Murray
- 2:17Speaker 1: signed a massive uh contract before this season, multi million dollar,
- 2:22Speaker 1: huge contract protects his future. Doesn't help anything right now,
- 2:26Speaker 1: but some solace taking that into the off season with
- 2:29Speaker 1: him knowing that he's protected. The real question here now,
- 2:32Speaker 1: Ian is we know that Calamar is off for the
- 2:33Speaker 1: rest of this season. It's when will he be ready
- 2:36Speaker 1: in three This injury is happening in mid December here,
- 2:39Speaker 1: Normally you're looking at eight to nine month baseline, and
- 2:41Speaker 1: that's just if it's a normal a c O. We
- 2:43Speaker 1: don't yet know whether there is any additional damage to
- 2:46Speaker 1: the potential would come up during the reconstructive process here,
- 2:49Speaker 1: But already you're getting into August and September here for
- 2:52Speaker 1: a quarterback who uses legs a lot, and you would
- 2:55Speaker 1: certainly expect that with the franchise quarterback. You're paying a
- 2:58Speaker 1: lot of money to your going to air on the
- 2:59Speaker 1: side of caution in terms of putting him back on
- 3:01Speaker 1: the field. So let's just adds to the questions that
- 3:03Speaker 1: the Cardinals now have going into their off season after
- 3:06Speaker 1: a very frustrating two season that still has four games
- 3:11Speaker 1: to go here, Certainly a long rehab process ahead for
- 3:14Speaker 1: Kyler Murray as he tries to get back on the
- 3:15Speaker 1: field next season, and the Cardinals, with that lost last night,
- 3:18Speaker 1: fall to four and nine. Questions about their off season
- 3:22Speaker 1: answered likely when they play these four games out there
- 3:26Speaker 1: still technically in the playoff hunt technically, but they have
- 3:30Speaker 1: been eliminated with that loss last night. Back now to
- 3:33Speaker 1: the league meeting in and Tom with us in Dallas.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Tom would start with you, the Bills brought in a
- 3:41Speaker 1: new wide receiver today, and much like the Cowboys, it
- 3:44Speaker 1: is not Odell Beckham Jr. That's right, Andrew, and it's
- 3:49Speaker 1: a guy that the Bills know well. Cole Beasley flew
- 3:52Speaker 1: to Buffalo yesterday and he's resigning with the Bills practice squad,
- 3:56Speaker 1: a guy who was highly productive during his first stint
- 3:58Speaker 1: in Buffalo two or thirty one catches eleven touchdowns over
- 4:01Speaker 1: three seasons, so you know, chemistry is not going to
- 4:04Speaker 1: be an issue between him and Josh Allen. Now. The
- 4:07Speaker 1: Bills certainly have been exploring additional receiver help, really I
- 4:10Speaker 1: and going all the way back to March in free
- 4:12Speaker 1: agency and potential trades. They finally get a guy who,
- 4:14Speaker 1: again they've had there before, one of the best slot
- 4:17Speaker 1: players over the past decade or so. Here in Cole Beasley.
- 4:20Speaker 1: He's now into his mid thirties. He had a brief
- 4:22Speaker 1: stint in Tampa, decided to walk away from that and
- 4:26Speaker 1: ended up petting himself released off the practice squads that
- 4:28Speaker 1: he wanted to spend time with family, which he did
- 4:30Speaker 1: over the last couple of months. Now back on the
- 4:32Speaker 1: field and the expectation is will be on the active
- 4:34Speaker 1: roster sooner than later. One player who was on the
- 4:36Speaker 1: active roster for the Cowboys. It's not Odell Beckham Jr.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It is t Y Hilton, the Ghost. T Y Hilton
- 4:42Speaker 1: back in the NFL, signing with the Cowboys yesterday after
- 4:46Speaker 1: a successive workout. Sounded like the workout went really well,
- 4:49Speaker 1: left the team encouraged it he could contribute sooner rather
- 4:53Speaker 1: than later. And Tiby Hilton has had plenty of opportunities
- 4:56Speaker 1: to join a variety of teams in the NFL in
- 4:59Speaker 1: a bunch of different ways and a bunch of different roles.
- 5:02Speaker 1: This was the one he wanted, a playoff team, team
- 5:05Speaker 1: that really has the chance to go deep into the
- 5:07Speaker 1: playoffs and place where you can come in and contribute
- 5:10Speaker 1: right away. So t Y Hilton waits almost the entire
- 5:13Speaker 1: season and then lands with the Dallas Cowboys. Okay, but
- 5:17Speaker 1: what does that mean then for Odell Beckham Jr. Because
- 5:23Speaker 1: there's there's still a little bit of a shot, right
- 5:25Speaker 1: And well, I mean, I guess theoretically anything is possible.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And Jerry Jones went on the radio and said, they're
- 5:30Speaker 1: still talking. Uh So, I guess anything is possible, but
- 5:34Speaker 1: it is notworthy. As Tom mentioned that two of the
- 5:35Speaker 1: teams that were in the Odell Beckham junior sweepstakes have
- 5:39Speaker 1: signed other receivers. And I would say it's fair to
- 5:42Speaker 1: say that people are still gonna keep in touch with Odell.
- 5:45Speaker 1: They're gonna still gonna kind of keep track of him.
- 5:47Speaker 1: But he was not going to play during the regular
- 5:50Speaker 1: season anyway. And unless something crazy happens, maybe a significant injury,
- 5:54Speaker 1: hard to imagine the team signing him just for the playoffs.
- 5:57Speaker 1: So it seems that we're probably gonna be doing this
- 6:00Speaker 1: come March or February or whenever Beckham decides to sign
- 6:03Speaker 1: with his next team. And that's the Here's you have
- 6:05Speaker 1: two players who are ready, willing and able to play
- 6:08Speaker 1: right now for their new teams in t Y Hilton
- 6:11Speaker 1: and Cole Beasley. You look at Hilton's contract to get
- 6:13Speaker 1: six thousand dollars guaranteed for the final four games, fifty
- 6:16Speaker 1: thousand for each game he's active, and then seven hundred
- 6:19Speaker 1: thousand dollars available in playoff incentives. An Odell Beckham Jr. Deal,
- 6:23Speaker 1: if it were one year or for the remaining part
- 6:25Speaker 1: of the year, would probably have looked pretty similar to
- 6:28Speaker 1: that would not have come at that price in all
- 6:30Speaker 1: likelihood as t Y Hilton here. But Beckham said it
- 6:33Speaker 1: himself on the prime video version of the Shop. I
- 6:37Speaker 1: think that's what we're calling it here, that didn't see
- 6:39Speaker 1: the point of playing in the regular season realistically. He
- 6:41Speaker 1: was gonna need a ramp up period anyway. Here. But
- 6:44Speaker 1: two of the three suitors now that we know, have
- 6:46Speaker 1: been connected Odellman. He's visited Andrew going a different directions
- 6:49Speaker 1: with guys who can play right now that doesn't want
- 6:51Speaker 1: to play in the regular season, maybe he could, you know,
- 6:53Speaker 1: go play in the NBA. In a report, Tom Pella
- 6:57Speaker 1: sero there at the league meeting in Dallas. More coming
- 7:00Speaker 1: up from them a little bit later on a far
- 7:03Speaker 1: more serious no. The entire football world was morning the
- 7:05Speaker 1: loss of this man. The great Mike Leach, old miss
- 7:07Speaker 1: head coach who we lost today. Had a heart attack
- 7:10Speaker 1: late last week and never recovered. Mike Leach was sixty
- 7:14Speaker 1: years old. He was quite simply an American original. He
- 7:18Speaker 1: changed the game of football, the game of football that
- 7:21Speaker 1: you watch every Saturday, the game of football that in
- 7:24Speaker 1: many ways you watch every Sunday. He brought the air
- 7:26Speaker 1: raid to the game, along with how Mommy go back
- 7:28Speaker 1: to Tim Couch the first pick in the ninety nine draft.
- 7:31Speaker 1: All these Heisman winners, all air raid quarterbacks, Baker to
- 7:36Speaker 1: Kyler to Caleb. The guys he coached, or the guys
- 7:42Speaker 1: that he had as quarterbacks, now become coaches, like Hypel,
- 7:45Speaker 1: like Cliff, there was nobody like Mike Leach. The statement
- 7:51Speaker 1: from the man we were just discussing, Cliff Kingsbury, There's
- 7:53Speaker 1: no way I would be where I am today if
- 7:56Speaker 1: not from Mike Leach and everything he taught me about
- 7:58Speaker 1: the game. Truly in one of the most innovative offensive
- 8:01Speaker 1: minds in football. More than a coach, he was a mentor,
- 8:04Speaker 1: of friend and one of the most special people I
- 8:07Speaker 1: have ever met. My eric goes out to Sharon, the
- 8:09Speaker 1: Leach family, everyone who had the privilege of knowing and
- 8:13Speaker 1: loving him. Our sport was better well, said Cliff Kingsbury
- 8:17Speaker 1: because of Mike Leach, and is far less interesting without him.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I mean, Brian Boldinger. I have had conversations with Mike
- 8:27Speaker 1: Leach about pirates, about scouting in Jamaica for sprinters and
- 8:33Speaker 1: making them wide receivers. He taught a Game of Thrones
- 8:38Speaker 1: class at Washington State and they're really is was absolutely
- 8:44Speaker 1: no one like him. I spent a lot of time
- 8:47Speaker 1: down in Key West, you know, to the the history
- 8:49Speaker 1: of the pirates. You can always learn something from Mike Leach.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I did his first game this year down in Starkfield,
- 8:55Speaker 1: Mississippi against Memphis. I was around him. But my first
- 8:58Speaker 1: meeting with Mike Leach Andrew I was announcing the Cotton
- 9:01Speaker 1: Bowl for Fox and uh, you know, it was Texas
- 9:04Speaker 1: Tech in Arkansas, and you know, there's Mike Leach for
- 9:06Speaker 1: a couple of coffee every morning in the lobby of
- 9:08Speaker 1: the hotel, and he's just an open book. You go
- 9:10Speaker 1: up there and you start talking to Mike about anything.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It could be some of the subjects you just mentioned,
- 9:14Speaker 1: but I remember specifically, you know Andrew, he was like,
- 9:18Speaker 1: you know, Baldi, I've always wanted to run an offense
- 9:23Speaker 1: without a playbook, and I went, huh. He goes, yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 1: I just think like the defense wouldn't have anything to
- 9:28Speaker 1: key on. There'd be no keys. I go, but Mike,
- 9:31Speaker 1: you guys wouldn't know what to do on offense. He goes,
- 9:33Speaker 1: we would just figure that out we played street ball.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But the defense would really be confused. Baldi. I gotta
- 9:38Speaker 1: tell you what, Mike, you run. You play a game,
- 9:41Speaker 1: coaching game without any playbook, and let's just see what
- 9:44Speaker 1: the results are, right like, you take it and then
- 9:47Speaker 1: let's let's go analyze the game together afterwards. And he
- 9:49Speaker 1: was dead serious. He goes, that would that's the future,
- 9:52Speaker 1: bald He not playbooks, and that could only come from
- 9:55Speaker 1: a Mike Leach. The arty of it is, Baldy, is
- 9:57Speaker 1: that the running joke has been you can write Mike
- 10:00Speaker 1: Leach his playbook on a cocktail navocate. It's only the
- 10:04Speaker 1: same play over no, over and over again. And if
- 10:06Speaker 1: you go back to ninety nine when Tim Couch was
- 10:07Speaker 1: the first pick and Mike Leah was his o c
- 10:10Speaker 1: under how Mommy at Kentucky, Tim Couch tells you that
- 10:13Speaker 1: when he got to Cleveland and Chris Palmer handed him
- 10:15Speaker 1: the playbook, he had never had a playbook, he claimed
- 10:18Speaker 1: at Kentucky, and yet it worked and it changed the game. Yeah. Well,
- 10:24Speaker 1: all the innovation, most of the innovation that we have
- 10:26Speaker 1: seen come into the NFL, including Cliff Kingsberry, uh, and
- 10:30Speaker 1: what he's doing in Arizona is just the proliferation the
- 10:33Speaker 1: passing game and how they attacked the safeties and the
- 10:35Speaker 1: air raid concepts and how they got the ball out
- 10:38Speaker 1: of their hands faster. I mean, from Chip Kelly on
- 10:40Speaker 1: you know, to Lincoln Riley, They've all been influenced and
- 10:43Speaker 1: all that stuff that happened in college which allowed teams
- 10:46Speaker 1: like Kentucky and when I was at Duke, was Steve
- 10:49Speaker 1: Spurrier to compete with major college teams. All that has
- 10:53Speaker 1: crept into the NFL slowly, and back in people said, oh,
- 10:57Speaker 1: that would never work in the NFL. Well, it's here
- 11:00Speaker 1: and it's here to stay. It's here to say again,
- 11:02Speaker 1: just look at the Heisman winners, including this past today,
- 11:05Speaker 1: Caleb William Cunning, What Lincoln Riley brought from Oklahoma, what
- 11:10Speaker 1: Lincoln Riley learned from Cliff Kingsbury, I'm sorry, from Mike Leach,
- 11:14Speaker 1: Cliff Kingsbury Leach as well Mike Leach sixty one years old.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Thank you, Brian Baldinger. More on the great Coach Leach.
- 11:22Speaker 1: A little bit later, you could go down to Twitter,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you know, wormhole today and just do nothing but watch
- 11:28Speaker 1: Mike Leach videos. Watch him talk about weddings. He says,
- 11:32Speaker 1: kids don't actually have a wedding, just a lope. Watch
- 11:35Speaker 1: him talk about UFOs and life on other planets. Watch
- 11:38Speaker 1: him talk about Game of Thrones. By the way, his
- 11:41Speaker 1: favorite character was Tyrian Lanister, Um said, the smartest guy
- 11:45Speaker 1: in the room and always had his finger on the
- 11:48Speaker 1: pulse of what was going on. Mike Leach, there will
- 11:51Speaker 1: never ever be anyone else like him. Barrock Purty has
- 12:08Speaker 1: been a revelation. The question is can I get ready
- 12:11Speaker 1: in time for Thursday's potential NFC West clinching game in Seattle.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Party was and it's only an estimate limited Monday, Kyle
- 12:21Speaker 1: Shanahan says, not really a full practice, just kind of,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know, going through the motions as you get ready
- 12:28Speaker 1: for a short week at a quick turnaround. Jeff Chitty
- 12:31Speaker 1: a great piece every week on Tuesday. His first read
- 12:35Speaker 1: at this week's games heading into week fifteen, which opens
- 12:38Speaker 1: up in Seattle. Coming up on Thursday. Jeff's here, BOLDI
- 12:41Speaker 1: is here, Jeff. I want to go back to last week,
- 12:42Speaker 1: not not just not rubbing it in, but you said
- 12:46Speaker 1: that the Niners super Bowl hopes were dead. Would you
- 12:51Speaker 1: like to reconsider? Also, the Cowboys were the best team
- 12:55Speaker 1: in the NFL, and I'll take that back first, but
- 12:58Speaker 1: I'm not going that far with the Niners just yet. Andrew, Uh,
- 13:01Speaker 1: I love Rock Party, but let's pump the brakes the
- 13:04Speaker 1: Manthew for hundred and eighty five yards. But I do
- 13:07Speaker 1: believe that their defense, if it plays the way it
- 13:09Speaker 1: played against Tampa Bay, can't get this team into a
- 13:12Speaker 1: deep playoff run because they are a monster when they're healthy.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And you saw that against Tampa Bay. You saw the
- 13:17Speaker 1: hurting they put on uh, Tom Brady and company. But
- 13:21Speaker 1: Rock Party does get him a dimension that has been
- 13:24Speaker 1: lacking in his offense without trading. With Trey Lance being down,
- 13:27Speaker 1: he can escape Brandon. I you said they love the
- 13:29Speaker 1: fact that when the play breaks down, a second place
- 13:31Speaker 1: is happening with this guy Baldi, and you know that
- 13:34Speaker 1: defense and a young quarterback, they do have a chance. Well,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I announced that game and he was he was dynamic.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I mean forget about the yards. I mean his pocket
- 13:44Speaker 1: awareness and presence, and part of that is the movement
- 13:47Speaker 1: that you discussed right there to extend the play. Uh.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And then the deep ball you know, both to McCaffrey
- 13:52Speaker 1: and to Iu for touchdowns. Um. I don't know that
- 13:56Speaker 1: the other quarterback could have made those throws or would
- 13:58Speaker 1: have made those throws. So he he has good spacing,
- 14:00Speaker 1: gets the ball to his playmakers have been outstanding doing that.
- 14:03Speaker 1: You know. Seattle is on a short week here without
- 14:07Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker last week. It showed that they didn't you know,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and I don't know if he's playing with his ankle injury.
- 14:13Speaker 1: His h on Thursday night, but without the running game
- 14:16Speaker 1: Gino Smith. You know, he threw Twitter sceptions for the
- 14:18Speaker 1: first time this year. Nice plays by J. C. Horne
- 14:21Speaker 1: and C. J. Henderson to take the ball away. But
- 14:23Speaker 1: you know, if they're not running it and they're turning
- 14:25Speaker 1: it over, they're not the same Seattle team that we
- 14:28Speaker 1: have seen be very competitive this year, especially offensively, and
- 14:33Speaker 1: DK metcalf and Tyler Lockett weren't getting the ball down
- 14:36Speaker 1: the field. So San Francisco is looking at you know,
- 14:39Speaker 1: Smith saying if we take the running game away, even
- 14:42Speaker 1: if Kenneth Walker plays, and certainly the forty Niners are
- 14:45Speaker 1: capable of doing that with what they have the way
- 14:47Speaker 1: Dre Dre Greenlaw is playing, Fred Warners playing Founda like
- 14:50Speaker 1: they're taking the running game away and if it makes
- 14:53Speaker 1: you one dimensional, I'm sure they were saying, hey, Gino, Mike,
- 14:55Speaker 1: give us a few. So I think it's imperative that
- 14:59Speaker 1: Seattle runs the ball effectively against the forty Niners on
- 15:03Speaker 1: Thursday night. Had a big issue for Seattle as well
- 15:05Speaker 1: has been stopping the run, and Pete Carroll was just
- 15:09Speaker 1: beside himself after the game and again yesterday morning and
- 15:11Speaker 1: trying to figure out why they can't stop the run.
- 15:14Speaker 1: He said, you know, sometimes the fits are on right.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Sometimes guys just aren't making tackles. But they have given
- 15:20Speaker 1: up an average of two five yards a game on
- 15:22Speaker 1: the ground the last three weeks, so Bruck pretty probably
- 15:26Speaker 1: doesn't have to throw a twenty five times Thursday as
- 15:28Speaker 1: the Niners try to wrap up the NFC West gentlemen,
- 15:31Speaker 1: Thank you. Jeff g d Brian Brian Bolding are both
- 15:34Speaker 1: back a little bit later on this Tuesday edition at
- 15:36Speaker 1: NFL Now, a Tuesday edition that also has our Insiders
- 15:40Speaker 1: with Tom Bela, Sero, Ian Rappaport, GD Batista live at
- 15:43Speaker 1: the league meeting outside Dallas. We talked injuries and wide
- 15:48Speaker 1: receiver signings earlier. Judy, there is a far lot more
- 15:52Speaker 1: on the agenda than that, right Andrew. The owners will
- 15:57Speaker 1: meet starting tomorrow, but today, really the headline is that
- 16:01Speaker 1: there is the continuation of the league's Accelerator program, this
- 16:05Speaker 1: time focused on GM candidates. That is, to bring in
- 16:09Speaker 1: candidates who are potential GM candidates who represent most of
- 16:13Speaker 1: the teams plus the League office. These are people of
- 16:17Speaker 1: color and women who are in the pipeline and the
- 16:20Speaker 1: purpose of this accelerator program is really to get these
- 16:23Speaker 1: candidates in front of owners. There is airy reception tonight, UM,
- 16:26Speaker 1: and then tomorrow the owners will meet and there are
- 16:28Speaker 1: a number of routine updates, business updates, that kind of thing.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Among the updates they're going to get is injury data
- 16:34Speaker 1: related to field surfaces, which has been sort of a
- 16:36Speaker 1: hot topic UH and UM and also things on like
- 16:40Speaker 1: the shape of the game, scoring things like that. So
- 16:43Speaker 1: this is expected to be a routine meeting. UM. The
- 16:47Speaker 1: sale UH in Washington is not on the official agenda,
- 16:50Speaker 1: although as we know at these meetings often the conversations
- 16:53Speaker 1: in the hallways are the most interesting. And there's a
- 16:56Speaker 1: privileged session owners only at the end of Wednesday. UH.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Presumably that would be fascinating, although we will unfortunately not
- 17:04Speaker 1: be eavesdropping into that meeting. We'll see who we can
- 17:06Speaker 1: find out. One thing we usually do find out here, Tom,
- 17:09Speaker 1: is the projected salary cap number from the NFL. There's
- 17:13Speaker 1: uh CAP guys are are are here. UH, there's a
- 17:16Speaker 1: lot of salary cap, a lot of hours of salary
- 17:18Speaker 1: cap discussion where it's going to be, and usually they
- 17:21Speaker 1: give a projected number so people can start planning for
- 17:23Speaker 1: free agency. Because of a variety of reasons including UH
- 17:27Speaker 1: the Sunday ticket deal not being done, including what the
- 17:30Speaker 1: union is going to end up doing on their benefits,
- 17:33Speaker 1: we are not going to get a projected number. So
- 17:35Speaker 1: of course, when you have discussions with the various uh
- 17:38Speaker 1: CAP experts who are here, everyone has a guess for
- 17:40Speaker 1: a number. You and I have pegged it at a
- 17:42Speaker 1: round one twenty or two twenty would be quite a
- 17:46Speaker 1: bit of We will see if the eventual number comes
- 17:49Speaker 1: in around there. And the reason that we don't we're
- 17:52Speaker 1: not going to get a cap projection here is because
- 17:54Speaker 1: of both cost and revenue questions. Here at the rev
- 17:58Speaker 1: On the revenue side, the NFL has not yet done
- 18:00Speaker 1: a new deal for Sunday ticket that's going to be
- 18:02Speaker 1: a significant revenue driver, and under the twenty twenty c
- 18:05Speaker 1: b A, the players get a media kicker, as it's called,
- 18:08Speaker 1: a potentially higher percentage if all the new media deals
- 18:11Speaker 1: end up over a certain number. Here there's also the
- 18:14Speaker 1: cost side, which is the n f l p A
- 18:16Speaker 1: is still pull paying out some benefits that they put
- 18:20Speaker 1: on hold during COVID to help boost the cap and
- 18:22Speaker 1: not go further into debts so to speak. Well, they
- 18:25Speaker 1: have to do that sometime after The union doesn't want
- 18:28Speaker 1: to decide if they're gonna pay it out all this
- 18:30Speaker 1: year or over several years until they see the revenue number.
- 18:34Speaker 1: So these things are all intertwined. We do anticipate, though,
- 18:37Speaker 1: of course, we're gonna have a cap set by late
- 18:39Speaker 1: February early March, before the start of the league year.
- 18:41Speaker 1: So the clock is sticking. There's gonna be a little
- 18:43Speaker 1: bit of scrambling then going on, that's for sure, But
- 18:45Speaker 1: Andrew will send it back to you. It's pretty quiet
- 18:48Speaker 1: because they're all behind closed doors right now again with
- 18:51Speaker 1: the Accelerator program, they're in sessions basically to get folks
- 18:54Speaker 1: ready for their job interviews. We get a pick up
- 19:01Speaker 1: now from our NFL Fantasy Live crew. Everybody watching NFL
- 19:06Speaker 1: now now here in week fifteen, you need some advice
- 19:09Speaker 1: on the waiver wire, Mike, who should they go get
- 19:11Speaker 1: so they can get into the playoffs. Go get Jamison Williams.
- 19:14Speaker 1: We've seen rookie wide receivers ascend late in the season,
- 19:17Speaker 1: and he's really only just making his debut the last
- 19:20Speaker 1: couple of weeks. But he caught a long touchdown in
- 19:22Speaker 1: week fourteen, and Dan Campbell said they're going to bring
- 19:24Speaker 1: him along. How they brought on other players who have
- 19:27Speaker 1: come back from a torn a c O, which is
- 19:28Speaker 1: to ease them in the first two weeks, kind of
- 19:30Speaker 1: let them get even more steps in their third week back,
- 19:32Speaker 1: and in the fourth week they sent him loose. So
- 19:34Speaker 1: I wouldn't start Jamison this week against the Jets, but
- 19:37Speaker 1: I think you want him on your roster for the
- 19:38Speaker 1: final two weeks of the season. Well, I like Elijah
- 19:41Speaker 1: more this weekend. We've kind of gone through the whole
- 19:42Speaker 1: saga with him being unhappy, and I'm getting more opportunities.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Mike White coming into this offense has really elevated the
- 19:48Speaker 1: wide receivers and Elijah More. The last couple of weeks
- 19:50Speaker 1: have seen an increase in targets. Throw in the fact
- 19:53Speaker 1: that Corey Davis went out of the game on Sunday
- 19:55Speaker 1: in the concussion protocol, that could mean some more opportunity.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Plus the schedule down the stretch throughout the playoffs. I mean,
- 20:00Speaker 1: he's got the Lions, he's got the Jaguars, he's got
- 20:02Speaker 1: the Seahawks. There's a lot of chance here for Elijah
- 20:04Speaker 1: moret step upon played well. I think a lot of
- 20:06Speaker 1: people might be looking for a defense or special teams
- 20:09Speaker 1: to stream this week. What about the Green Bay Packers
- 20:12Speaker 1: coming off there bye week This week They're going up
- 20:14Speaker 1: against the Los Angeles Rams. And I know that everybody
- 20:17Speaker 1: was celebrating the Baker Mayfield drive and all that stuff,
- 20:20Speaker 1: but at the same time, this Packers team is loaded
- 20:23Speaker 1: with first round picks on the defensive side of the football.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers is now doing is like whatever, like relax
- 20:29Speaker 1: or one game whatever, whatever little stupid slogan. He's gonna
- 20:32Speaker 1: be talking about the Packers. DSc is probably a great
- 20:35Speaker 1: player this week. And I think speaking of quarterbacks, that
- 20:38Speaker 1: we saw a lot of quarterbacks get injured right at
- 20:40Speaker 1: the end of Week fourteen, so some of your wide
- 20:43Speaker 1: receivers may be in question. If you need to get
- 20:45Speaker 1: to the playoffs. Take a look at Quez Watkins, the
- 20:47Speaker 1: Eagles third wide. I got five targets against the Giants,
- 20:51Speaker 1: had some success. Now they've got the Bears next week.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Considered quiz in your route to the fantasy football playoffs
- 20:57Speaker 1: if you want a route to watch some good television
- 20:59Speaker 1: Fantasy Live every single weeknight right here on NFL Network.
- 21:03Speaker 1: The power rankings are here because it's it's Tuesday. Dan
- 21:06Speaker 1: hans Is still has the Eagles and number one, of course,
- 21:09Speaker 1: I mean they dropped forty eight on the Giants, railed
- 21:11Speaker 1: it now in the playoffs. But looky, looky, lookye the
- 21:15Speaker 1: San Francisco forty Niners. He is a brock pretty believer.
- 21:19Speaker 1: The San Francisco forty Niners with a rookie quarterback having
- 21:24Speaker 1: started one game with another defensive injury. Unfortunately, Dante Johnson
- 21:27Speaker 1: now out for the year. Of the corner, Dan Hanss,
- 21:30Speaker 1: you have them as the good to see by the way, hi, hey,
- 21:33Speaker 1: staying everybody as the number two team in football? Why well,
- 21:37Speaker 1: because brock Purty passed his first big test. Obviously, the
- 21:41Speaker 1: moment wasn't too big for him against the Bucks. He
- 21:44Speaker 1: made the throws. Now the next test, obviously in a
- 21:48Speaker 1: primetime UH scenario here difficult hostile environment in Seattle, which
- 21:53Speaker 1: a wise man once said is the loudest outdoor venue
- 21:56Speaker 1: in professional football. I think it is, um and we'll
- 21:59Speaker 1: see if he passes that test. But what he did
- 22:01Speaker 1: on Sunday was enough for me. I had dropped them
- 22:03Speaker 1: down to seven San Francisco after the injury um to
- 22:07Speaker 1: Jimmy g because I needed to see something from party
- 22:09Speaker 1: to believe that the rest of the team can obviously
- 22:12Speaker 1: rise up. They did it, and now they have I'm in.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I'm buying it, you're buying it, Okay. The Bengals, the Bills,
- 22:18Speaker 1: the Chiefs are still three, four or five. Then the
- 22:21Speaker 1: Cowboys six, the Vikings seven. The Ravens aid they move
- 22:24Speaker 1: up three. Interesting, the Chargers are up nine. You have
- 22:29Speaker 1: the Chargers dan at number nine from eighteen. If the
- 22:34Speaker 1: playoffs were to start today, let me let me check. Nope,
- 22:38Speaker 1: they wouldn't be in power ranking is not power stuff.
- 22:40Speaker 1: You know that. Andrew. Here's the thing, and this has
- 22:43Speaker 1: happened before, and last time I tried to explain it
- 22:45Speaker 1: to you looked at me like going out of my forehead.
- 22:48Speaker 1: We have a top ten. There has to be seven, eight, nine, ten. However, Andrew, yes,
- 22:54Speaker 1: I don't really think there's a number nine team in
- 22:56Speaker 1: the league right now. I don't think the Chargers are
- 22:58Speaker 1: truly like a top ten team right now, but nobody's
- 23:02Speaker 1: got to They're They're a paper Charger. I like the Chargers,
- 23:05Speaker 1: I really, I really liked what they did on Sunday night.
- 23:08Speaker 1: But do I trust them, No, not at all. They
- 23:10Speaker 1: have to earn trust. They have a way of bringing
- 23:13Speaker 1: you in and then kind of sticking it to you
- 23:15Speaker 1: a little bit. But at the same time, in a
- 23:18Speaker 1: wide open like the power rankings from about seven to sixteen,
- 23:22Speaker 1: you could make a case for any of these teams.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And right now the Charges coming off a nice prime
- 23:26Speaker 1: time when you know how like Damn Island games that
- 23:28Speaker 1: got him into the top two. Okay, And for the record,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I pushed back against Dan on some of these because
- 23:35Speaker 1: Dan gets all your angry social media correspondent, so I'm
- 23:39Speaker 1: just playing this out on the television for stuff like
- 23:42Speaker 1: Dad asks about that, what's that? He goes Danny, you
- 23:44Speaker 1: know Andrew. He seems like a nice guy, but you
- 23:46Speaker 1: know he comes after you sometimes. I said, Dad, he's
- 23:48Speaker 1: playing the role, laying the role because everyone's gonna angry
- 23:51Speaker 1: tweet at Dan or write comments on the story on
- 23:53Speaker 1: the bottom of NFL dot com. I think you can
- 23:55Speaker 1: still do that saying, hey, they don't they don't like
- 23:57Speaker 1: where their favorite team is. So that's why we do it.
- 24:01Speaker 1: And to the Chargers credit, they did it without Derwin
- 24:03Speaker 1: James and without Joey Bosa. They shut down the Dolphins
- 24:05Speaker 1: and they do deserve credit for that. Dan used to
- 24:08Speaker 1: host a Hard Knocks podcast this summer for the Lions.
- 24:12Speaker 1: The Lions also not in the playoffs. You have up
- 24:15Speaker 1: seven the number ten. The Lions are top ten team.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Well again, yes, somebody's got to be number ten, so
- 24:21Speaker 1: it is the Lions. But I didn't It didn't hurt
- 24:23Speaker 1: my heart to do it, because in fact, I love
- 24:26Speaker 1: these lines, so many people do. They're truly the organic
- 24:29Speaker 1: version of America's team, and everything here is working on
- 24:32Speaker 1: the offense. And can we please give Jared Goff some
- 24:35Speaker 1: love spect for what he has done leading this offense.
- 24:38Speaker 1: He has really set himself up to put the Lions
- 24:42Speaker 1: in a difficult situation come the offseason when they're gonna
- 24:45Speaker 1: have a high draft pick when they were supposed to
- 24:46Speaker 1: take a quarterback. But what if you have the best
- 24:49Speaker 1: offense statistically, uh in the NFC maybe after the Eagles
- 24:52Speaker 1: at the end of the year, do you still get
- 24:54Speaker 1: rid of the quarterback do a very manageable salary. I
- 24:57Speaker 1: don't think so. I know Jared Goff has proven his worth.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Peter Schueger said a World this Morning tough mentally that
- 25:03Speaker 1: Jared Goff and look with the Lion and are doing
- 25:06Speaker 1: right now. Nobody wants to play the Lions. Dan Hansus
- 25:09Speaker 1: has him attended. He has the power rankings on nfl
- 25:11Speaker 1: dot com slash Power Rankings. I really do like Dan.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I just pushed back. I like you too, I told,
- 25:17Speaker 1: and he understood. Thanks for watching, Dad, Thanks for watching
