- 0:26oh he's driving. Yeah, I had so came up. I have to
- 0:31be somewhere, okay, okay. In order to make the timeline work,
- 0:36I have to multitask. Yeah, gotcha. I am mobile though, so
- 0:42if if I cut out, I will be back. Okay, okay,
- 0:46I'll be I'll be back. You know what, he didn't say that in
- 0:49this movie. No he didn't. No, I don't think that was his
- 0:53line. Good morning Bronson, Good morning, Chaz biz. Yeah, good
- 0:57morning. Oh this Bronson. I started a new job, so today my
- 1:03last time watching it live. Wow. Oh well, then you know what
- 1:07you have to do, and you have to email, and you definitely have
- 1:10to send in a voicemail. That's rights. You have to find an even
- 1:15newer job. There you go, there you go. Yeah, come on
- 1:19track ass first, that's right, that's what I was thinking. But yeah,
- 1:25well, welcome everybody. We're going to be talking about the late great
- 1:30Carl Weathers today. Yes, yeah, it's it's kind of a sad show
- 1:34about that. But yeah, other than that, how are you guys doing
- 1:42doing fantastic? The weather's looking nice, it's getting warm, So yeah,
- 1:49that's gonna be uh here, Yeah, Michigan, this is our this is
- 1:53our fake spring. Oh okay, yeah, yeah, we get those in
- 1:57Idaho. We get like two or three of them up. Yeah, so
- 2:00this will be one of the ways that Michigan weather likes to screw with our
- 2:02emotions. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's almost fifty degrees outside. The sun
- 2:07is out, and I'm sure next week we'll probably get a nice storm.
- 2:10Nice nice all right, and I'm good. I'm good. I've been prepping
- 2:20my trip for the Long Island Trek Convention out We lost Dan. Oh no,
- 2:27he's just frozen. What is his name? Uh, Grief Cargo,
- 2:31which is based off of Carl Weather's character in The Mandalorian. Oh okay,
- 2:37okay, yeah, it's my I'm on my cell phone, so the print
- 2:39is so small I couldn't read it. Yeah, yeah, no, Grief
- 2:43Cargo. So it's it's a solid, solid Oh no, he's moving again.
- 2:46Oh, Dan's moving again. We can see the steering wheel there,
- 2:50you go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. So I'm planning
- 2:53for the vacation or you know, trip s already got my plane tickets out
- 2:59here. What was that Dan, Okay, okay, it's it's not keeping
- 3:07up. But that's all right. We'll tell you what. Let's let's get
- 3:12into the to the entertainment news. We'll handle the the Carl Weather stuff in
- 3:17the main stuff, but for now we'll do some other news. Right.
- 3:28So our first news story comes to us from Variety. And I don't know
- 3:31if you guys are aware, but apparently at the top tier of podcast and
- 3:36you can make a lot of money. And Joe Rogan just re renewed his
- 3:40deal with Spotify for two hundred and fifty million dollars. On top of that,
- 3:46for two hundred and fifty million dollars, he will no longer be exclusive
- 3:52to Spotify, so he will be his show will be everywhere again. And
- 3:58yeah, for the last three years that it had been exclusive to Spotify,
- 4:01but that won't be the case anymore. So he's making a lot of money
- 4:05over there. Wow. Yeah, I actually called my agent, did you
- 4:10Yes, Yeah, And so you'll probably get a phone call as as the
- 4:14producer, you'll probably get a phone call from him. Yeah, because I'd
- 4:16like to negotiate my contract as you should. I wanted to, you know,
- 4:20I feel like I can speak on behalf of the show, and just
- 4:24announced to Spotify that we are willing to negotiate. And now, since you
- 4:30paid two hundred and fifty million dollars for one guy, right, we will
- 4:33do the show for six hundred million dollars and you get three guys. That's
- 4:40right. So it's a bargain. It's a bargain. Yeah, we're willing
- 4:44to work with you, you know, Oh sure, sure, yes.
- 4:47So I don't see what date that the show will start being the Joe Rogan
- 4:54Show will start being everywhere else, but it should be soon because the old
- 4:59deal is ending a and ending soon. So yeah, that's a lot for
- 5:02a podcast, right, Yeah, it's it's kind of crazy made. I
- 5:10don't think people like I'm just thinking of like, you know, people perennials
- 5:15like Pat say Jack for example, or or somebody who's on TV you know
- 5:19every day, you know, five days a week. You know, he's
- 5:25that kind of money, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, but
- 5:30Joe Rogan is huge. You know, he's a big, big deal.
- 5:33Yeah, he's a big guy. He's a big deal. He's a big
- 5:36deal. Yeah. Do you think he makes so much money because he's like,
- 5:41well that and like you know, he's he's a pretty strong dude and
- 5:45knows how to fight. So like you think he walks in negotiations like you're
- 5:47gonna pay me this much or you're gonna go in a headlock, so you
- 5:50think he's the Walmart of negotiators. He just locks, just intimidates them.
- 5:56Yeah, maybe maybe, all right. Our next new story comes to us
- 6:03from Indie Wire and suddenly director claims that Jake gillen Hall and him didn't quite
- 6:12work out on the set of a new film. So apparently Jake Jillanol had
- 6:16been working on a movie alongside actress Vanessa Herby. It was the remake of
- 6:23some French film. Who I Am not going to try to pronounce the name
- 6:26of the French film, but they yes, Peppi leapew Love Story. I
- 6:31don't I don't know what it was called. But they had been working on
- 6:35this film in Europe. The film was about a twenty six million dollar film
- 6:41and apparently Jake Jillen Hall is batshit crazy and was demanded all sorts of changes.
- 6:47There was one incident where they were out scouting locations, so they were
- 6:51looking like where they were going to shoot the movie, and at one point
- 6:56they were near an ocean in ice and Jake jillen Hall literally stopped and uh
- 7:04dressed down to his underwear and jumped in the ocean because he said that he
- 7:09needed to be in the water the minute he sees an ocean. There's also
- 7:14reports that he was very strict on COVID protocols because this is you know,
- 7:18a little over a year ago or so, and he demanded that all the
- 7:23set builders sleep in their cars as to prevent more possible infection spread. And
- 7:30yeah, yeah, a little bit, you know. Jake Jillenhall has also
- 7:36his people have kind of said, you know, things were overbrown and it
- 7:40wasn't quite that bad, but there were creative differences. So yeah, they've
- 7:45they've already some twenty six million dollars into this film. We'll never see it
- 7:47because it never got made. And yeah, yeah, he goes some actor
- 7:56being out of their minds. It's not hard to believe, because you know,
- 8:03here's a person where their job is to create a completely different reality and
- 8:11live in it for a period of time, right, you know, so
- 8:16hearing that they don't have a grasp of what's normal and what's reality, I'd
- 8:22buy it. Yeah, Yeah, for sure, for sure. And I
- 8:26also wonder, like the director was a French director, and he said,
- 8:31you know, in Europe, the way we handle making films is different than
- 8:35the way they do in the US. Like in Europe the director is basically
- 8:39just in charge and and nobody questions them, whereas in America it's more collaborative.
- 8:46So there's also that kind of difference. Is and you know, well,
- 8:54big egos, big money, big production, big yes, wownce,
- 9:01they'll do it, They're gonna but yeah, and then our last news story
- 9:07comes to us from Panda Daily. You know that that old chestnut. Yeah,
- 9:11and I and I thought that, you know, for this group,
- 9:15this might be a thing. So Hasbro seeks to sell Dungeons and Dragons and
- 9:20has already reached contact with a potential buyer, ten Cent, which is a
- 9:28they're kind of basically a private equity firm in China. Uh, and they
- 9:31may be purchasing Dungeons and Dragons. The ip for that Dungeons and Dragons is
- 9:39one of the biggest ips in Hasbro's quiver right now, so they would be
- 9:45losing the golden goose. Recently, D and D was the backbone of something
- 9:50called Balder's Gate three, which has won Game of the Year award in just
- 9:56last year. So it's pretty big deal that they're looking to get rid of
- 10:01this thing. But yeah, that's a lot of money involved in that,
- 10:05especially with the new movie that came out, and you know, all the
- 10:09you know, there's some new like with the movie comes new merchandising money.
- 10:16And you know, because I've seen dungeons and dragons in the store, you
- 10:18know, yeah, as you know, cups and mugs and action figures and
- 10:22stuff like that that I hadn't seen in a very long time. And merchandise,
- 10:28as we know, you know, Star Trek is is it's huge on
- 10:33this Merchandising is a very big deal. The life is the merchandising is the
- 10:35big deal. So when I hear news stories like this, my mind always
- 10:41goes to merchandising and how they capitalize on merchandise. And hold on a second,
- 10:46I got oh, oh, oh, he went away. Good,
- 10:56Yeah, finally we can talk. That's right. But yeah, no,
- 11:05dragons, I mean, did that movie do well? The movie itself did
- 11:09not do that well. I understand it did turn a profit, but not
- 11:13much of one. But apparently it has gotten a lot of like views on
- 11:18streaming and a lot of buzz. It's like become a cult classic kind of.
- 11:24So the thought is if they do another one, it probably would make
- 11:28a lot more money. Yeah, chas been saying it was funny. Yeah,
- 11:31it was. It was surprisingly good for what it was if you're into
- 11:35that stuff. So yeah, did I'm guessing you didn't watch it, Dan
- 11:43Dragons and it's one of those things where you're talking about it right now and
- 11:48I'm like, oh, yeah, oh look the moves. He's here.
- 11:52Oh the oh no, we're in trouble now the move. Yes, there
- 12:01he is. Yeah, oh he's shooting the mopsie. Okay, okay,
- 12:07I'm back. All right, sorry guy, I'm back. Nice little technical
- 12:13difficulty, uh there with Okay, yep, I'm back. Can you hear
- 12:18me? I say, I thought you had a little low role on a
- 12:22broadcast. Yeah. Yeah, you know, get all your get all your
- 12:30technical stuff worked out, that's right. By The professionalism in this broadcast on
- 12:39my part is uh is lacking, and I apologize to a certain standard.
- 12:45Indeed, indeed, quite right, ladies and gentlemen, this is Moopsie.
- 12:50Sorry to interrupt the podcast, but this was a birthday present for my wife.
- 12:56All right, Yeah, it's a moopsie and these are not I hope
- 13:01I don't have the FBI knocking on my door, but these they don't have
- 13:03these as officially licensed products, which is a surprise. Yeah, yep,
- 13:11yeah, But all right, Well that's all the news. So let's get
- 13:16to our supplemental spotlight. All right, So the big thing we are spotlighting
- 13:28this time is the passing earlier this week of Weathers. Who. Yeah,
- 13:37big deal for a lot of us in this age group. We grew up
- 13:41watching him from Predator to Rocky to a million other movies and TV appearances recently
- 13:48the Mandalorian. Yeah, the guy was big, rested development. He had
- 13:54a very noteworthy roll in. He did action, he did comedy. Uh,
- 14:00he wasn't a what was it, Happy Gilmore Adam Sandler's Yeah, he
- 14:05was chubs. So yeah, well, oh no, Dan's cutting out.
- 14:15I would like to take this out to say that I love Happy Gilmore.
- 14:18I love anything that Adam Sandler's in. I think I speak for Dan when
- 14:22I say that Adam Adam Sandler is one of the greatest actors of our generation.
- 14:28Oh. Absolutely, everything he's in is absolutely golden, and I think.
- 14:31I heard Dan Lombardo say that a couple of times that, yes,
- 14:35Adam, Adam Sandler is just he originally wanted to change the show the Sandler
- 14:41cast. Yes, he did. We had to prevent it. Yeah,
- 14:43and uh, you know, and it's not a bad idea, Dan,
- 14:46I mean, I understand your love for Adam Sandler is deep and wide.
- 14:50So I just wanted to agree with you. I mean, when when he
- 14:54pitched Jack and Jill Month, I was I was very yep, my video
- 15:00will cut out. But I heard all of that. Okay, I know,
- 15:01okay, good. We were hoping. Uh yeah, so yeah,
- 15:11what are your thoughts on Sam there? Dad, Oh he's cut out again.
- 15:20Let me let me tell it for him. Dan told me earlier that
- 15:22you know, he respects the guy as an actor, as an artist mainly.
- 15:28Well, we'll tell you what. Since we're talking about Carl Weathers,
- 15:31let me uh, we do have some reaction from those who worked with him.
- 15:37But first I want to start with reaction from probably one of the people
- 15:41best attached to him, and that is Sylvester Stallone. He released a little
- 15:46video videos about a minute long. I want to play the full thing,
- 15:50and then we'll we'll continue, So hold on everyone today. For me,
- 15:58I mean, I'm so torn up. I can't tell you. I'm just
- 16:03trying to hold it in because or weather it was such an integral part of
- 16:08my life. I success everything about it. I give him incredible credit and
- 16:15kudos because when he walked into that room and I saw him for the first
- 16:21time, I saw a greatness, but I didn't realize how great. I
- 16:26never could have accomplished what we did with Rocky without him. He was absolutely
- 16:32brilliant. His voice, his size, his power, his athletic ability,
- 16:37but more importantly, his heart, his soul. It's horrible us and I'm
- 16:45standing here in front of this painting because it was probably the last moment we
- 16:51were ever in the rain together. And I'll never forget it. He was
- 16:56magic and I was so fortunate to be part of his life. So yeah,
- 17:08yeah, that was released the day he would passed away. We do
- 17:14also have a reaction from some of his co stars, Arnold Schwarzeneger releasing on
- 17:19Twitter X whatever you call it. Carl Weathers will always be a legend,
- 17:25an extraordinary athlete, fantastic actor and a great person. We couldn't have made
- 17:29Predator without him, we certainly had such a wonderful time making it. Jesse
- 17:33Venturo also says we lost an icon and you can see the two of them
- 17:37there together. Carl's Weather was a phenomenal talent and true professional and dear friend.
- 17:44All my sympathies and love to his family. I loved working with him
- 17:48on Predator and then celebrating that film with him at various conventions in the ensuing
- 17:52years. And then Robert Rodriguez, who recently worked with him on The Mandalorian
- 17:57as one of the directors of some of the episodes, and he says,
- 18:02we'll miss the great Carl Weathers who will who I was very fortunate to work
- 18:06with on several occasions. A very kind and generous person. His performances were
- 18:11always electrifying, and he was a terrific director of both stage and screen.
- 18:17So yeah, yeah, last, yeah you're saying. Yeah, Dan just
- 18:26said he he thinks he directed a couple episodes of That's right. Yeah,
- 18:30Yeah, you're right, Yeah, that's right. Yes, yeah, the
- 18:36last big thing he did. Yeah, that is the last. Yeah,
- 18:41you know, he brought up. He had a presence even though he was
- 18:44just a side character. I'm sorry, Dan, it's it's uh, it's
- 18:51certain to go. We know if them the next season they have not no,
- 18:59yeah, yeah, okay, we heard what. Yeah yeah, they
- 19:02have not started filming right now. It's kind of in limbo. They were
- 19:07going to do a season four or if they're going to do a movie.
- 19:08I know they recently announced a movie. So no, nothing has been filmed,
- 19:15so they if they do that, they're gonna have to find a way
- 19:17to write that character out. Yeah, your volume is really load, dude,
- 19:22I don't know what that is, but yeah, let me reset.
- 19:27Okay, okay. Ty J says that Gina Carno had a great tribute to
- 19:32him on Twitter. It's a fairly long post. Oh that's why I missed
- 19:34that. I just only saw a handful of them on Twitter. Yeah.
- 19:37Sure, there's tons that he was very supportive of her after all the controversion
- 19:42everything. Oh yeah, yeah, so she had really kind words to say
- 19:48about him. Yeah. He sounds like he was just a classack everywhere he
- 19:52went. Yeah, it sounds like he was well liked, well respected,
- 19:56hard worker. Yeah so he Yeah, he's just a big, big deal.
- 20:03Uh. You know, I was surprised by it when even my dad
- 20:07text me. My dad is not into like celebrity culture at all, and
- 20:11was just like, hey, did you see that he died? You know,
- 20:15A Paulo A Paulo Creed was a big thing in our family, mainly
- 20:21because my grandpa's luchador name was also Apollo, so we always we always had
- 20:26that connection. Yeah, so that was kind of fun for us. But
- 20:33uh yeah, yeah, you know, now now you watch his movies with
- 20:37a little bit of sadness because there's no more you know. Yeah. Yeah,
- 20:41and and those you know, the Rocky movies specifically, you know,
- 20:45transcend generation. To know my uh my eighteen year old has watched all the
- 20:48Rocky movies. Yeah, so you know, I I I was a kid
- 20:53when they came out, and uh right, you know, like I said,
- 20:56I I didn't watch Predator until I was well six months ago. Yeah,
- 21:03that was my first time watched Breta was about six months ago. Yeah,
- 21:06and it was you know, it was eighties, it was late eighties,
- 21:11uh, kind of action movie. It reminded me a lot of of
- 21:15the Expendables. You know, you've got the biggest names with the biggest arms,
- 21:18you know, playing army dudes. You know. Yeah, but it
- 21:23was a lot of fun. It was, you know, I really liked
- 21:26it there is yeah, yeah, gave birth to that meme the the the
- 21:32big hand or big arms. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, so that,
- 21:37you know, The Predator was a good movie. Carl Weathers. You
- 21:41know, there's a couple of things I was gonna mention about Carl Weathers that
- 21:44I saw on IMBB. The biggest thing for our fans would be interested to
- 21:49know is that he was one of the original actors that auditioned for the part
- 21:55of Captain Benjamin Lafayette Cisco on Star Trek Tuesday's nine. Yeah. Yeah,
- 22:03yeah, so you know, Daniel I were talking before the show. That
- 22:06would have been interesting to see, you know, how he would have portrayed
- 22:10that character, especially the scene where the one and only episode of d Spaces
- 22:14nine featuring Q and how Cue brought him into that boxing Russ's going to that
- 22:18boxing ring. I would have scene that match up. I Well. The
- 22:22other thing I think about is if he was the lead on that show,
- 22:26what random guest stars we would get because he was such a big deal,
- 22:32you know yeah, oh yeah, Sevester Saloon or Schwartznaker, Yeah, yeah,
- 22:36would they just yeah, I'll do. Yeah, yeah, that would
- 22:42be great. He was a professional football player. He played for the Raiders.
- 22:48Yeah yeah, yeah, obviously Apollo Creed. He also played in the
- 22:56Canadian Football League. Yeah he was, he was big. So oh.
- 23:04He was inducted into the International Mustache Hall of Fame in twenty sixteen. Amazing,
- 23:11God, that's awesome. Heck, yeah, that's great. That's great.
- 23:22Well, to kind of pay tribute to him, we decided to review
- 23:26his classic film, the nineteen eighty seven film Predator, which I realized as
- 23:32we announced that on social media, there was no way I was going to
- 23:34do hashtag predator next to his face. So yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 23:44Chris Hansen, Yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah. So that did not get
- 23:51tagged on a lot of social media. People just kept saying how much they
- 23:53loved him and how great he was. So yeah. But yeah, so
- 23:59we reviewed the film. You know, I watched it last night. I
- 24:03don't know about you guys. Are Scott said he watched it a few months
- 24:06ago, but Dan, did you watch it recently? I watched I watched
- 24:08it yesterday And circling back to something we've talked about a lot lately. Yeah,
- 24:15I checked for it on all the streaming services that I have, and
- 24:18you know, it wasn't available, even though it's a Fox film and you
- 24:23should be right there on Disney Plus h it wasn't. So I went to
- 24:29the Trustee DVD rack and pulled it out, and you know what I am.
- 24:34I'm convinced at this point that I am team physical Media of one.
- 24:40I agree with you. I'm just gonna start buying discs again, look like
- 24:45from the bargain bent just to have them. Yeah, I had to rent
- 24:48it on Amazon anymore. Yeah, my Walmart, I don't see the bargain
- 24:53bins anymore. He used to go through there from time to time and see
- 24:56what treasures were there. And I don't know if they moved them out recently
- 25:00or what, but I don't see them anymore. Hmm. Yeah, It's
- 25:04been a while since I've been in my Walmart, so I don't I don't
- 25:07know. I'll let you know. Well, they stopped selling them at best
- 25:10Buy. I've seen a bargain DVD beIN at Menards. Minards is a I
- 25:14think it's a regional thing for us. It's like a loves or a home
- 25:17depot. Oh okay, yeah, we have something over here called entertainment mart
- 25:22and it's nothing but DVDs basically. Yeah, but we still have video stores
- 25:29in Idaho, so that's weird. Like you can go rent DVDs and oh
- 25:34wow, yeah, so that's what Idaho is like. Well, it's weird
- 25:40because there's a lot of areas that don't have internet because it's just too far
- 25:44out. So that's why they have them. So people can go rent their
- 25:47movies and watch them their cabins. So right, don't know, man,
- 25:52technology has ruined so many things. Yeah, it used to be a trip
- 25:56to the video store to plan out your weekend. Yeah. It was like
- 26:00such a thing in a family event and you know, all right, the
- 26:03kids get two movies, Mom and dad get two movies. Yeah, you
- 26:08know, you drive home with your four VHS tapes under your under your arm.
- 26:14It's or your Nintendo A super game. Yeah yep. Yeah. So
- 26:21yeah, thirty five, thirty eight years later, what do you What do
- 26:25you think of Predator? Do I think it still holds up? Yeah?
- 26:30Yeah, I think it's it's very action packed suppress that yeah, yeah,
- 26:36I don't know. There was just there were some things that I don't know,
- 26:42some things maybe not that they don't hold up. But that Okay,
- 26:48if this movie was made today, it would not be like this. No,
- 26:52there were some things that were different, for sure, But but as
- 26:56as far as the storyline and all that, I think it held up.
- 26:59Yeah. There's a term in Hollywood called the magic Negro. Are you familiar
- 27:06with that term? Where you know, there's an African American character who for
- 27:11whatever reason, has some sort of supernatural abilities, but their only reason for
- 27:18being there and having those abilities is to further the story for a Caucasian character.
- 27:26And oh wow, okay, I know I had never heard that.
- 27:30Yeah. The perfect example is the Green Mile. Yes, okay, that's
- 27:37the perfect example. The story is you know, it's a Tom Hanks story,
- 27:41but Michael Clark Duncan is the magic Negro in that situation. So I'm
- 27:51watching this and I can't help but feel like the character of Billy is just
- 27:56the magic Native American. Oh yeah, all he is there is you know,
- 28:04something in those trees. Major no explanation of how he would know this.
- 28:10You know, They're like, ask Billy what happened? And Billy looks
- 28:12at some twigs and some leaves, and he's like, there were twelve men.
- 28:15They were shooting in every direction they were. They were all wearing you
- 28:21know, US Army issued boots. It's like what you talking about? Yeah,
- 28:26you don't have magic. Even though the music would indicate that you have
- 28:30magic, you do not. Yeah yeah what Yeah? I think they touched
- 28:38on that. I just I just a few minutes ago before the show.
- 28:41I watched Everything Wrong with That Series on YouTube and Everything Wrong with the Predator
- 28:48and they did touch on that, like is this is this supposed to be
- 28:52a fantasy? Like does he have magical powers? Like you just? Does
- 28:55he hear stuff in the woods? What is this? Yeah? I mean
- 28:57you know there's you know, I understand that tracking is a thing, right
- 29:03right. You know people can go in the wilderness and and track animals and
- 29:07yeah, pick up different cues from from the environment around them. But you
- 29:11know, there were twelve men they left in opposite directions, and they were
- 29:15wearing these kind of shoes right right right? That that was kind of silly.
- 29:21Yeah, I thought it was. It was kind of funny that Carl
- 29:26Weather's character was clearly he had a connection to Armed Swartzenegger's character, but now
- 29:30was working for the CIA, so he had kind of pulled them into there.
- 29:34Yeah. You know, watching that movie, I kind of like,
- 29:38I love Carl Weathers, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't wondered what
- 29:41it would have been like if Billy d Williams played that role, being the
- 29:45like smooth talking agent. Yeah. So I mean you have to look,
- 29:52you have to look at this through the lens of nineteen eighty seven, right,
- 29:56And so you know, here's all these guys in the woods. So
- 30:00you got these career military guys and then you got this CIA guy, and
- 30:04right off the bat, they don't trust him, right. You know,
- 30:08we were less than two decades out of Vietnam at this point. Yeah,
- 30:14about two decades out of Vietnam. So you know, the soldier in green
- 30:18doesn't doesn't trust the agent in a suit, right, And and by the
- 30:23end of the movie they were right because you know, he used them.
- 30:30Yeah. One one fun fact about the movie the the guy that that constantly
- 30:37makes fun of his girlfriend. That character, yeah that that character is played
- 30:42by Shane Black. And Shane Black is the screenwriter. You probably know him
- 30:48best as the creator Lethal Weapon. Okay, he also did like the third
- 30:52Iron Man film Guys prolyfic screenwriter. But it's funny to see him just walking
- 30:57around in the jungle with a gun. I forgot all those jokes. Yeah,
- 31:02And I had asked my son. I said, hey, you know
- 31:03the guy who played Grief Cargo on Mando, Uh, he died the other
- 31:07day. So I'm gonna be watching Predator for the podcast. Is that something
- 31:12you want to watch with me? And he was like, uh, yeah,
- 31:15I don't know. And I said, okay, no problem, and
- 31:18I watched it alone, and I'm kind of glad I did. Yes.
- 31:22I was telling him, Yeah, I wanted to pause it and explain that,
- 31:29you know, because I tell my son Alf does that ever? Anything
- 31:30you don't understand, you just tell me and I pause it and I'll explain
- 31:33it. Yeah, I don't. You don't to explain the echo. No,
- 31:40I don't want to explain the echo. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:45it was pretty graphic, man, I don't. Yeah, skin people and
- 31:48yeah, Carl Weathers deathtine in that yeah a stick yeah. Oh man.
- 31:57Oh, spoiler alert. He's he's walking around the woods and you know,
- 32:02everybody's looking for the predator and he hears the predator and he turns around.
- 32:07He starts shooting at the predator. The predator shoots his plasma weapon at him
- 32:12and he hits him in his firing arm. He's got a he's got like
- 32:15an MP five kind of weapon, and he shoots through the arm and it
- 32:19shoots and his arm gets blown off. Yeah. As the arm is falling
- 32:24down to the ground, it's still clutching the weapon, the automatic weapon,
- 32:29and it's still shooting the web because his arm knew its duty. His arm
- 32:37the last breath and it was great. And then he like picks up another
- 32:42weapon with his other arm and starts shooting at the predator and that's when he
- 32:45gets stabbed. It was just it was fantastic. Yeah. I love it.
- 32:50I think that that his arm should have gotten some kind of oscar did
- 32:53well. I love that The movie is like it starts out as just like
- 32:57this is going to be a generic action film about these guys in the jungle
- 33:00and they've got to go on a rescue mission, and then it just turns
- 33:04into and then a space monster shows up. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 33:10tell you what. So many so many. Some of the effects look a
- 33:13little look a little aged, Yeah, a little bit, some of them.
- 33:17I mean the ship at the beginning looks good. Yeah. The the
- 33:23predator's face. That look, that's Sam Sam Winston's man. That guy knew
- 33:31what he was doing. Sam Winston Special Effects. Yeah. I was reading
- 33:39about the the invisibility, the cloaking effect, yeah on I m dB.
- 33:45And it was done with a red suit the size of the predator because it
- 33:51was red was the most opposite of green of the Jungles blue of the sky,
- 33:54and the red was removed with chroma key technology. Chroma key is basically
- 34:00when you do a blue like a blue or green screen, and then you
- 34:02remove the subject. Yeah yeah, and then the the take was then repeated
- 34:10without the actors using a wider lens, and when you combine the two takes,
- 34:20the thing that was removed is covered by the stuff from the wider lens
- 34:23take, and it creates that that background, that that outline, uh sort
- 34:30of shimmering effect. That was kind of cool and I thought that effect sort
- 34:34of held up. It kind of reminded me of the gem Hitar. Yeah,
- 34:38probably do that effect. Yeah, so yeah, that's true. Uh
- 34:45ty J brings up that Johann Claude van Dam was originally the predator, which
- 34:49is true. Yeah. Yeah, so yeah, I did. I did
- 34:53a little deep dive on that and I got a note. Yeah. Yeah,
- 35:00he was originally cast to play the Predator. Uh, they wanted a
- 35:02physical action star, you know, like the original idea of the Predator.
- 35:07He's more of like a he could move a lot faster, kind of like
- 35:09a space ninja, right right, but he ban damn couldn't move in the
- 35:16suit that they made him, right uh. And he was constantly bitching about,
- 35:22you know, how hot it was and he could, you know,
- 35:23doing that kind of stuff. Plus Van dam is five nine right, Uh.
- 35:30You know, Arnest Schwarzenegger is uh six two, between six two,
- 35:36and so all the other guys were between six two and sixty five, all
- 35:37these bodybuilders, and so Kevin Peter Hall uh replaced him. Yeah, he's
- 35:44seven to two. So right, Yeah, I think he would have looked
- 35:49weird. It's like some sort of ninja fly through the trees. Oh for
- 35:52sure, for sure. It would have been a different movie. Oh absolutely,
- 35:57yeah. But yeah, I love the movie. I lived all the
- 36:00practical effects, all the real explosions and the squibs going off, and I
- 36:06thought that was great. You know. Yeah, I'm a little disappointed that
- 36:10we never I mean, I know they've done a bunch of Predator and Alien
- 36:15Predator movies since then, but never revisit the character of Dutch. Yeah,
- 36:22never find out. I mean he and the and the the prisoner, the
- 36:25girl. You know, they they escaped, they're fine. In the end,
- 36:30they're flying away in a helicopter. You know. Did they even reference
- 36:35him in any of the other movies. I don't know. That's a good
- 36:37point. In fact, the reason why I watched Predator six months ago is
- 36:42because I wanted to watch the other films, and I watched Predator. I
- 36:45haven't watched any other films, but I wanted to watch the movie Pray Yeah,
- 36:50and so I wanted to get a little bit of background. So and
- 36:52I also I'm a big alien fan too, and so I wanted to get
- 36:57a little bit of I kind of wanted to watch Predator. It's sort of
- 37:00a prequel, get some information about it before I watched the Alien Versus Predator.
- 37:04I think it's in one of the Aliens Versus Predators, or maybe just
- 37:07one of the Predators sequels. They all kind of blur together, but they
- 37:09do mention that something went down in the eighties in the jungles. I think
- 37:15they say nic yeah, but it's a it's a quick you know whatever.
- 37:22I know that in some of the comic books and books there are there are
- 37:24stories of what happens next with Dutch. There's there's one version where he somehow
- 37:31gets on one of the ships and flies to them to go attack like a
- 37:36predator colony. Oh yeah, he took the hunt to them. Yeah yeah,
- 37:47yeah, yeah. Ronson's praise incredible. Yeah, it's really good,
- 37:52really really good. Well, maybe maybe that'll be my next thing that I
- 37:55start watching. Yeah, let me ask you guys something, Uh huh.
- 38:00How often does the word helicopter come up in conversation and you just blurt out,
- 38:05get to the chappa right everything time? Just making sure I would saying
- 38:10that before I watched Predator. Oh yeah, that's how much of a pop
- 38:14culture oh for sure. Yeah. Yeah, it's such a big thing.
- 38:20So many things respawned from this movie. It's kind of nuts. You know.
- 38:23It was a Joel Silver produced film. That guy back in the day
- 38:28was could do no wrong. He did so many awesome movies like The Matrix
- 38:32and a few others, but it produced two US state governors. Yeah that's
- 38:40true too. I mean, you can't say that in any other country in
- 38:45the world, not a lot of them up states. But the fact that
- 38:49we had this movie where in the future two of the main actors would end
- 38:53up being governors. Yeah, you know, do you think Carl Weathers God
- 39:00rest his soul, spent spent the rest of his life walking around wondering why
- 39:05he wasn't the governor of you know, wherever he was? Right? Yeah,
- 39:09he you know what, he totally could have been. I guarantee whatever
- 39:13state if he had. Yeah, yeah, Michigan would have welcomed him with
- 39:17open arms. Oh for sure, for sure. Yeah. But yeah,
- 39:23the movie. The movie is pretty simplistic, right they go, They're told,
- 39:27originally they need to go rescue a diplomat who has accidentally gone into the
- 39:32rebels side or something, just got trapped behind enemy lines, so they need
- 39:37to go rescue him. It ends up that Carl Weather's character had tricked them,
- 39:42and really they were there to take out some gorilla fighters and that was
- 39:45it. There was no diplomat. And then in the middle of all that,
- 39:50they somehow attack or attract the predator because the predator wants the best possible
- 39:54prey. Yeah. One thing I thought was kind of interesting that I didn't
- 40:00catch the first time I saw this movie. Is progressively throughout the film they
- 40:06encounter different animals who want to attack them, and the animals get bigger and
- 40:10bigger until they reach the predator. So the first one is a scorpion that
- 40:16that is about to hurt Carl Weathers. Then there is a giant snake that
- 40:23runs into Schwarzenegger I think it is. Then Billy takes is it Billy who
- 40:30takes out the giant pig mac mac? Okay, yeah, so it right,
- 40:37right, right, that's right. Yeah. Yeah. So eventually,
- 40:42like each animal is bigger and more of a threat, so they get to
- 40:46the apex predator exactly. Yeah. So I thought that was kind of neat,
- 40:52you know, yeah, little yeah, you know, that is neat.
- 40:57Yeah, I thought it was funny too. The the fact that the
- 41:00predator's all fancy technology is just you know, ruined by mud. Yeah it
- 41:09was. It was when he was in the water, right right, yeah,
- 41:14so Clay Mud. And that's something they brought up on Everything wrong with
- 41:20is that, you know, what about his eyeballs and that it might have
- 41:24been a different shade of blue, but it was still a shade of blue
- 41:29in the outline of a person. So you think that this master hunter would
- 41:35sort of be, you know, especially in a jungle wet type environment that's
- 41:38got mud and clay and stuff like that, that he would sort of you
- 41:43know, And I mean, I understand that he sees he's got that instrument
- 41:47that lets him see infra red, but can't he just default back to,
- 41:51like, I don't know, normal vision when that's not working. I don't
- 41:58think that's I think that's his vision. I think he sees he I don't
- 42:04think he sees the regular It's just like a viper. That's all. That's
- 42:07how he sees. Like that's one of the see Okay, no scratch what
- 42:10he just said. I assumed he was more like a pit viper, and
- 42:15then that was one way he can detect pray is by heat. I thought
- 42:21he had regular vision because when he takes his helmet off the the POV shot
- 42:24the predator, it's different changes, it changes a little bit, and it
- 42:30also changes back and forth from like kind of regular vision to infrared vision heat
- 42:34vision. Kind of it's a little bit inconsistent, but I don't know.
- 42:39I mean, it's like, okay, we have night vision goggles. When
- 42:44the sun comes up, you take him off. You don't keep wearing them
- 42:47throughout, you know. So yeah, I don't know. I always assumed
- 42:52that's that's just the way he sees. Yeah, but I don't know.
- 42:59I mean, obviously there was some sort of heads up display in his in
- 43:04his mask, because there was that strange text appearing next to what he was
- 43:10seeing. Right, is it addressed in any other movies that you guys know
- 43:14of Bronson, say, the second movie, all I can see is UV?
- 43:17Okay, oh you can also see UV. Yeah you could also see
- 43:21UV. Yeah. I am reading on on IMDb that the the clay that
- 43:29they used for Arnold Swarzenegger apparently dramatically dropped his own internal body temperature and so
- 43:37it became dangerous and it made him like shivering, and so it took a
- 43:42while to get like clay a stuff off of him and one of them back
- 43:45up. Yeah. Yeah, the funny story I read about, you know,
- 43:50because this is all Jesse and Arnold, all these guys are bodybuilders,
- 43:53and bodybuilders are you know, sort of famously kind of vain about their you
- 43:59know, their arms, in their size. And I read that here Jesse
- 44:02Ventura was delighted to find out from the wardrobe department that his arms were one
- 44:07inch bigger than Arnold Schwarzenaker's. He suggested to Swarzenegger that they measure arms,
- 44:14with the winner getting a bottle of champagne. Ventura lost because Schwarzenegger had told
- 44:19the wardrobe department to tell Ventura that it's bicker. It turns out not only
- 44:27were they not, it's bigger that Sworznaker's arms were actually three inches bigger.
- 44:31Sounds like him here, Yeah, yeah, I'm sure aboutst those guys.
- 44:39There was a lot of Wiener measuring, you know, oh for sure.
- 44:44Yeah, yeah, that's great. Yeah, hmhm, So I can't I
- 44:52can say though that after watching it, I do now have this desire to
- 45:00watch the rest of the series. Oh yeah, yeah, I do too.
- 45:02I guess. I guess it did its job. Yeah, yeah,
- 45:08yeah, it's unfortunate that most of them are not that great. But no,
- 45:15yeah, it's been a while. Yeah, I mean, I have
- 45:19they're bad, they're still pretty good. Yeah, what's that, Scott.
- 45:22Well, with films like from the eighties and early nineties that are about stuff
- 45:27like that can't be filmed. Even if they're bad, they're still pretty good.
- 45:29Yeah. Yeah, h what were you going to say, Dan,
- 45:34No, yeah, no, there were some of them. I don't even
- 45:38I'd have to look them up. I'm pretty sure there's some that I haven't
- 45:43seen. Mm hmm, I've seen all of them. I haven't seen The
- 45:49only one I've seen is the first one. Yeah, so you didn't watch
- 45:53Pray No, I haven't watched Pretty yet. Yeah, it's really good.
- 45:58It was just one of those things where like I I wanted to get on
- 46:00a Predator kick and then I watched the first one and it was I liked
- 46:02it. I just life happened there. There's there was one they tried to
- 46:08reboot it maybe I don't know, maybe ten years ago with the guy who
- 46:15was the bad guy in Logan. That one's pretty pretty bad. It's really
- 46:22bad. But there's the one that Robert Rodriguez did Predators or Predator where they
- 46:29where they kidnap people and they take them to another planet. Yeah, I
- 46:31don't think I saw that one. That one's really good. It's got Laurence
- 46:35Fishprinternet and uh and Adrian Brody like it's it's a really good one. It
- 46:43ish like maybe in the last twenty years. Okay, So there's Predator Predator
- 46:47too, Alien versus Predator. There's two of those, yeah, Alien versus
- 46:54Predator with some other suffix. Yeah, there's Predators, the Predator, and
- 47:02Pray. Is that all of them? I believe that's all of them about
- 47:07right, So I think out of all those, I saw the first three
- 47:12and the last one. Okay, so I think there's like four of them
- 47:15in the middle. Yeah, we need to do some research then. Yeah.
- 47:20And then they don't really they don't really all connect. They're all kind
- 47:23of their own thing, which is interesting. Yeah. Well, no,
- 47:28some of them do connect loosely. Yeah, they loosely connect and in without
- 47:34ruining it for Scott, there's there's an artifact in Prey that's right that you
- 47:40see the origins or that's the origins of an artifact that appears in Predator too.
- 47:46Okay, Okay, yeah, I think I just might, you know,
- 47:52going back to the streaming bs, I also noticed that it wasn't on
- 47:55streaming Yeah, because I was just gonna go through a few scenes and then
- 47:59it will an available. So I went to YouTube, but Predator Q is
- 48:02available. I forgot what streaming service I have got that. I think most
- 48:06of them are on on Hulu, I think. So I'll probably check Predator
- 48:10to out this afternoon. Yeah, check it out. Check out Predator the
- 48:14musical. That was really good. I watched that this morning. Yeah.
- 48:16Yeah, I put it in our Facebook group. Yeah. If it bleeds,
- 48:21we can kill it. Yeah. That song was stuck in my head.
- 48:29Yeah, so last night yeah yeah, all right, Well we've got
- 48:37people waiting for us, So let's do the uh, let's do listener feedback,
- 48:45listener feedback. All right. So we did get a lot of messages
- 48:51on social media just saying how much they loved Carl Weathers. And I did
- 48:54tell people that, you know, if they wanted to come talk, they
- 48:57could. And so with that in mind, we you've got Chasbs aka Chubbs.
- 49:01What's up, Chubbs? Yeah? What's his arm back? Guys?
- 49:07He got his arm Yeah, he got his arm back. He kept losing
- 49:10arms and movies. I know, It's like I realized that. I was
- 49:13like, Wow, he this guy likes to lose arms and die in movies.
- 49:15I mean, I think every movie he's dying. I never even I
- 49:20never even put that together. Is that a reference to Preditor in the I
- 49:24mean, now that it's got to be right, it's the same arm.
- 49:30Yeah, that's got to be what it is. Wow, getting a joke
- 49:36twenty five years later. Yeah, that's hilarious. It's great. Yeah.
- 49:47Yeah. He was a class actor. I mean, great actor. He
- 49:53had a screen presence. I mean when you saw him on screen. The
- 49:57first time I remember him is a Rocky War, yeah, man, because
- 50:01I was that maybe came out was eighty five or so, Yes, and
- 50:06that was the first movie, like one of the first movies A song in
- 50:10the theater and I remember him dying, you know, I was like,
- 50:14what the heck? You got punched in the head and he dies and the
- 50:16Rocky has to training the rest of the movie and kick his ass. So
- 50:20yeah, spoiler alert. That just came out thirty years ago, right,
- 50:23probably about forty. Man, Yeah, he died in that movie. I
- 50:28love only about halfway describing that one. I love describing Rocky for Oh,
- 50:35that's the one where he ended the Cold War by punching it. Yes,
- 50:39yes, that's exactly how I went down. That was with Dolve London,
- 50:47right, yes, yes, okay, I would break you, almost break
- 50:52you, because he had the best scene, like he's coming out on there
- 50:57and he's gotta James Brown singing coming to America. Yeah, everything, and
- 51:04it was great and he had the top hat on He's got to kick his
- 51:07ass and then mm hmm yeah yeah, and then it was a whole montage
- 51:14to kick Drago's ass after that. So, well you need a montage if
- 51:20you rewatch that movie, Like half the movie is montages. Uh yeah,
- 51:27that movie in about two weeks. There's only like two footage. Well that
- 51:32that work montage is probably one of the most famous ones where they're they're showing
- 51:37them back to back and they're showing them, you know, the sort of
- 51:39the economy of training like out in the woods, you know, natural versus
- 51:44the Russian. You know, they're all the machines hooked up and stuff like
- 51:47that. They're they're trying to prove a point. You know. It's great.
- 51:52Yeah, it's got like KGB agents following him into old Mercedes and they're
- 51:57probably driving up in Canada or something really filming in Russia. So Rocky's running
- 52:06up like like this farm area with a log out his back Jason Chickens and
- 52:09all that. Jason Chickens. Yeah, and see that's what the Creed movies
- 52:16are missing, is that you know, is Rocky The last two or the
- 52:22last one didn't have Rocky at all? Yeah, because he's fighting with the
- 52:24producer. Yeah, and I find it kind of crappy. I think they
- 52:29should have him in there because the guy pretty much at least mentioned his name.
- 52:35You're talking about the Creed movies. The last movie didn't mention him.
- 52:38I don't even think they mentioned him that. Yeah, they didn't have Sylvester
- 52:42Salon because he was okay, because he was in one yeah, yeah,
- 52:47and then three and then they're making up fourth one. Right now, what
- 52:52did it happened? Oh? Go ahead, Okay. Basically, Sylvester Stallone
- 52:58does not own the rights to Rocky to creating one ones. He sold it
- 53:01to the producer way back in the day. And so Sylvester Slone now says,
- 53:06hey, I should own the rights. I created that character. But
- 53:09he did make a deal. So like, yeah, that's that's the problem.
- 53:15Well, if they want to, you know, we behoove them to
- 53:16include him because he's a box office draw. No, they're they're willing to
- 53:22pay him and do that, but he wants the rights he wants, right,
- 53:24okay, Yeah, yeah, So fun fun fact that I read about
- 53:30today you know, we listened to that heartfelt message from Sylvester Stallone. Yeah,
- 53:38he and Carl Weathers did not speak for several years. Oh really.
- 53:45Yeah, so when Stallone made was it Rocky Balboa around? Yeah, yeah,
- 53:57Carl Weathers. So so he approached Carl Weathers using old footage of him
- 54:01in the in the movie. And Carl Weathers wanted to be in the movie.
- 54:07Yeah yeah, but your character's dead as the boxing pass I guess,
- 54:13I guess you wouldn't be like you know, so you know, hired,
- 54:19so Stallone hired to lookke to film new footage. Oh wow, because Carl
- 54:23Weathers wouldn't give him, wouldn't give him permission, and so they didn't speak
- 54:28several years. Yeah, they they later reconciled, which is nice. It's
- 54:34nice to hear that, you knoweah happened. It was years later that they
- 54:37years ago that they So it was nice to hear that they reconcile before you
- 54:42passed, because you know, it's sad when you hear things like you know,
- 54:46these you know, these two people that were so connected to each other
- 54:49and then you know, they had a falling out over dumb ship and then
- 54:54one of them, one of them passes. You know, it's like Bill
- 54:59Murray and Harold raymis so yep, yep, you know they reconciled before rams
- 55:04passed. So that's you know, yeah, all start to be learned.
- 55:07And you know, larger than life characters and actors. They have larger than
- 55:12life egos, larger than life bank accounts, larger than like everything. And
- 55:16you know when when you have bigger everything, everything else is bigger. The
- 55:20few are bigger, you know. So yeah, and they're they're not the
- 55:23same people you see on screen. They're they're different, right, so you
- 55:28see the good side. You don't see like the egos and everything else,
- 55:32so right, right right, yeah, yeah, like so it goes the
- 55:38prima donnas. People don't know that. Yeah, I am damn. Are
- 55:46you going to buy that Apple Vision Pro next for your call Apple goggles?
- 55:53You need to get that for your car, the VR thing. Yeah,
- 55:57yeah, it costs thirty five hundred dollars. Yeah, just the koffee account,
- 56:01go ahead, and yeah, wonder that's the only way that'd be so
- 56:08cool you're sitting in the car with those goggles on right now. No,
- 56:14podcast, No, it'd be actually it would be the same because he just
- 56:19had big goggles on. He could do it, yeah, because he could
- 56:23watch the channel and he could Yeah, that's one of the coolest technologies I've
- 56:29seen so far. Have you seen the people driving their Tesla's, well,
- 56:35make the Tesla drive itself and they're playing on the Vision Pro Oh jeez.
- 56:39Yeah, driving down the road with the headset on and they're playing on the
- 56:45Vision Pro because Tesla won't let you play with your phone. So Paul Chance's
- 56:52Apple goggles are like Google glass, which is true. Yeah, Google did
- 56:57it like ten years ago. Yeah, and a lot less invasive. It
- 57:00was just like glasses. Yeah. Yeah, Well this is cool because you
- 57:04put like one hundred foot screen in front of you, and then you could
- 57:07have your dashboard over here, like your computer and your desktop, and then
- 57:10you could have like other stuff going on over here and it's all in your
- 57:15vision. And I saw see yeah, I saw a video of a guy
- 57:21like it was like a test video, but like he was working on his
- 57:23car, and so he had the glass the goggles on, and so the
- 57:28things he was doing he could see right there immediately, Oh you need to
- 57:31do this, you need to do that. Oh wow. Yeah, somebody
- 57:35was playing the piano and then it showed all the keys I'm just doing like
- 57:39guitar hero. Yeah yeah, hit this key, now, hit that key.
- 57:44Yeah that's interesting. Yea, yes, there's it's it's gonna be.
- 57:49You know, we won't be able to afford it for years, but the
- 57:52next couple of years, this thing's probably gonna take off, especially with the
- 57:57Apple. Yeah. And then you see idiots walking around town with these stupid
- 58:01goggles on, and oh you'll have seen them soon. Yeah mm hmmm.
- 58:09Turn it into predator mode see everything, yes, yes, right right,
- 58:15Yeah, you'll have heads up display with everybody's name on there, because you're
- 58:20right, they'll be walking around, say what their name is and their social
- 58:23Security numbers. I just realized. I just realized with access to the internet,
- 58:28predator mode can meet a lot of different things. Yeah, oh was
- 58:40the NBC. That's a predator. Let's the guy that's christ Anson. Yeah
- 58:45he's still making those videos. Yeah, they double on YouTube. He still
- 58:50does them to this day. It's all of a sudden, Chris Hansen comes
- 58:52into your peripheral and you're like, yeah, it's like, sit down,
- 58:58you know how they have it, How they haven't put Chris Hansen and the
- 59:01Predator in a Super Bowl ad together. Yeah. Oh, that is a
- 59:07really terrible idea. There is there is like a robot chicken or something where
- 59:14somebody did that oh oh yeah, makes him sit down in the kitchen and
- 59:20yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah. But anything else you want
- 59:29to bring up with Carl weathers Well, if Fandam played the Predator, how
- 59:32many times would the Predator do splits? Huh? Quite a bit? Quite
- 59:38a bit because you can only imagine the Predator doing the splits with the whole
- 59:44outfit on, and we're breaking bricks with his hand, yes, or getting
- 59:50Because Ben Dam in a lot of movies versus some other action stars, he
- 59:53seems to get his ass kicked a lot in the movie. Yeah he does.
- 59:57Like if you watch anything by end of these other guys, who's the
- 1:00:05other big eighties action star that's now a sheriff and oh oh Steven Sagall Yeah,
- 1:00:09Steven Sagall In Like he never gets touched in any of his movies.
- 1:00:14No, you know, he's just always just you know whatever, you know,
- 1:00:17he never gets touched. Bantet Jean Claudevan. Dam gets his ass kicked
- 1:00:21in every single movie. There's that one Steven Sagall recently did a film where
- 1:00:25like he didn't even sit like stand up for the action scene. He's in
- 1:00:30a chair doing like this because he just didn't. He's like, I'm not
- 1:00:34gonna do anything. His hands are very fast, like if you see it,
- 1:00:37like he's he's a big dude now, like he's a he looks like
- 1:00:42he's retired and looks like he doesn't really give some devil dogs. So but
- 1:00:50he's still quick. Like YouTube videos of him just like sparring in class and
- 1:00:53you're like, okay, come up and try to take me down, and
- 1:00:55he's just like, you know, yeah, he only wears black now because
- 1:01:02yeah, because he's a master. That's why. Yeah, what's it called?
- 1:01:12Uh right, I'm trying to think what what what called? But yeah,
- 1:01:19yeah there's another name for it. Yeah. Well, a lot of
- 1:01:23a lot of martial artists all the bullsheet though, yeah, okay can do
- 1:01:29that too, like all these guys because he's a master at it. And
- 1:01:31all these guys are like falling in front of him because he's throwing them down
- 1:01:37and that's funny. It's such bs. Yeah, it's like okay, it's
- 1:01:43like you're such a master. The best ones are when the master fights a
- 1:01:46real m M A fighter and then they get their asses handed to him because
- 1:01:50they're Yeah, it doesn't really work that way, so maybe too, like,
- 1:02:00yeah, somebody like me coming after him. Yeah, he's gonna kick
- 1:02:02my ass, but right, oh min too, yeah somebody else? All
- 1:02:10right, well I can take him probably. Yeah, that'd be a good
- 1:02:19podcast. I'll see if we can make that happen. All Yeah, you
- 1:02:22guys never responded that little Ocho here said is grandpa was the luchador? Come
- 1:02:29on, oh yeah, think about it. I think they've heard that before.
- 1:02:32Yeah, no, I remember that. I don't remember that. That's
- 1:02:36trick and awesome. Yeah, I think I've told him in person. I
- 1:02:39don't think I mentioned it on the show A mask or No, I think
- 1:02:42it was. I think it was one of our very first shows when we
- 1:02:45were introducing Oh yeah, okay, I think you mentioned that. No,
- 1:02:50I don't have any of his masks. He was only a Luti door for
- 1:02:52a few years in Mexico in a very small company. He got to be
- 1:02:58the world champion once when my dad got to go see him in person,
- 1:03:01but the promoter told him, all right, you can win in front of
- 1:03:05your son. But you're gonna lose it the next show, so that'd be
- 1:03:08worth it. Yeah. I am nodding my head as if I have a
- 1:03:13clue what any of you guys are talking about. Yeah. Nice, Yeah,
- 1:03:17so he was the world champion of like six people. Yeah, okay,
- 1:03:23I'm starry to get from contact. Yeah yeah, very small company.
- 1:03:28Okay, cool? All right, well thanks Jess Biz, thanks for being
- 1:03:34nice. Thank you. Yeah so to bring up yeah, yeah, I
- 1:03:43like him too. All right. Can can we mention the Long Island thing?
- 1:03:50Yeah? Well, we'll have more to mention it later in probably a
- 1:03:53few weeks, but okay, I just wanted to keep make sure it's on
- 1:03:57everybody's mind and everything. I cannot make it to the Long Island. Uh.
- 1:04:01My wife and I are actually flying out about four weeks later. We're
- 1:04:05going on a cruise, so I couldn't make you know, the time off
- 1:04:10and stuff like that. But I'm very much looking forward to seeing you guys
- 1:04:15there. I'm hoping we can do a maybe a live broadcast. Yeah,
- 1:04:23and I also wanted to mention, uh that Kalama Zoo is going to have
- 1:04:28a comic con. It's the Grand Rapids Comic Con, like the one I
- 1:04:30went to a couple a few months ago. But it's their spring fling.
- 1:04:34They did it last year where they're coming to Kalamazoo and doing the comic Con
- 1:04:39and they just announced their star trek uh guest is going to be uh not
- 1:04:45a visitor, oh, Major Kieran Reeze. So I am excited about that.
- 1:04:51I have a have it around here. Oh yeah, right here a
- 1:04:57good friend of mine and my wife's yeah, please address her as colonel.
- 1:05:02Yeah, my god, I am so sorry, Colonel Kira. A good
- 1:05:10friend of mine gave me this. Her name's Aaron and she gave me this
- 1:05:15a long time ago. And it's the crew of d S's nine and arm
- 1:05:20Armond Shimmerman has signed it. And I'm gonna get a visitor to sign it.
- 1:05:27And so yeah, yeah, you know what, you got to ask
- 1:05:30her? What do I have to ask her? So the last time you
- 1:05:33were there, you asked the guests there, you know, who was the
- 1:05:38best at making you know, potlock food, and they sent her. So
- 1:05:42now you've got to ask her. Wouldn't she make Yes, that's the right
- 1:05:45idea, that's right, that's right. Yeah, I'll have to ask food
- 1:05:49related which reminds me of a topic. I was wondering if I could throw
- 1:05:54out a topic we can do for a few show. Uh, Foods of
- 1:05:58Star Trek. Oh, there you go. So I've got the cookbook that
- 1:06:03Ethan Phillips, who played Neelix co wrote. I bought it. I bought
- 1:06:08it in Vegas at the Star Trek Experience. So I've made hospro and it
- 1:06:13was amazing, And I was just wondering if you guys maybe it made Maybe
- 1:06:16we can talk about foods we've made, or maybe we can talk about prop
- 1:06:19foods, prop foods, different klingon food stuff like that. Maybe, yeah,
- 1:06:24talk about that a little bit. So, yeah, we can talk
- 1:06:27about prop foods. Yeah, I've never made any of those recipes. I
- 1:06:30don't have the book, but I'm sure a lot of them are online,
- 1:06:32so I'm sure we could find Oh yeah, yeah, I think there's another
- 1:06:35Star Trek cookbook too. So yeah, I used to frequent the restaurant at
- 1:06:41Star Trek. The experience nice. So I have not made any Star Trek
- 1:06:45related food, but I have eaten a whole bunch of it. Okay,
- 1:06:50Okay, I'll you know, maybe before we do this, I'll maybe we
- 1:06:54should all try a recipe an online red yeah but all right, but yeah,
- 1:06:59so a Nana visitor and if there's anybody in the like Southern Michigan area,
- 1:07:05Southwest Michigan area, the comic Con is going to be April second through
- 1:07:10the fourteenth. I'm going to try to make an appearance all three days.
- 1:07:14If there's anybody interested in maybe doing a meetup, it's going to be at
- 1:07:18the Expo Center, which is the fairgrounds for Kalmzu County. So yeah,
- 1:07:26if you're gonna if you're gonna be around, hit me up in the Facebook
- 1:07:30group and let me know we can do a hangout. Yeah, it'd be
- 1:07:32great. Cool. All right, Well, on that note, thanks everybody
- 1:07:36for watching, and we'll see you next week. All right. Oops,
- 1:07:43this is Captain Benjamin Cisco of Deep Space nine and Space God to the Bajorans.
