- 0:43Speaker 1: Let's get into the interview. Bootleg Cat Podcast. Special guest
- 0:49Speaker 1: in here. Representing AZ, my dog, Justice from Respect the
- 0:53Speaker 1: Underground Arizona Hip Hop Festival.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Man.
- 0:56Speaker 1: He's here.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Thank you for having me.
- 0:58Speaker 1: In L.A. In L.A. So you're doing the Arizona Hip
- 1:03Speaker 1: Hop Festival. What annual festival is this?
- 1:06Speaker 2: So this is the 14th annual AZ Hip Hop Festival.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Check it. Only because we didn't fuck with 12. We
- 1:13Speaker 2: went straight to 13. But we did two in 2021.
- 1:17Speaker 2: So it is the 14th.
- 1:18Speaker 1: So it's actually the 14th.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but I didn't want to put a 12.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So what year was the first one? 2013.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah, 2013.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I think I went to two and three.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Comerica Theater.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah, Comerica Theater and then the one that you had
- 1:31Speaker 1: at Marquee and you had the outside stage.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Or not Marquee, Monarch. Monarch, we shut. So year five,
- 1:39Speaker 2: we parted ways with Live Nation and Comerica Theater.
- 1:41Speaker 1: And it was like downtown.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And we shut down the city block from first to second, Washington.
- 1:44Speaker 1: The Comerica Theater one was a movie.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It was.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It was fun.
- 1:47Speaker 2: It was, other than the Live Nation dick in my
- 1:49Speaker 2: ass pause. But God bless them. Wishing the best. They
- 1:53Speaker 2: put me on. But it was just working with Live
- 1:56Speaker 2: Nation was not. it was financially didn't ever make sense.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So this year you're connecting with Adam 22 stir, uh,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and in integrating no jumper into the festival. What is that?
- 2:10Speaker 1: What is the idea behind that? Um, and just like, yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Cause I feel like it, I mean, obviously he's going to,
- 2:17Speaker 1: is he going to host? Is he doing live podcasts?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Like what is the idea of like bringing Adam in?
- 2:21Speaker 2: You know, that's actually why I'm in LA. I just
- 2:22Speaker 2: left no jumper and, um, chopped it up with Josh
- 2:25Speaker 2: and Adam. Shout out to them for being so easy
- 2:27Speaker 2: to work with and kind. You threw me the ball
- 2:28Speaker 2: for that. So thank you. I'm grateful for that.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I know a lot of people don't
- 2:32Speaker 1: like Adam and they have, some people have good reasons
- 2:34Speaker 1: not to like him. Me and Adam are solid.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So man, he's been nothing but, you know, pleasant to
- 2:38Speaker 2: work with. Josh is solid. Adam's solid. Like what I
- 2:41Speaker 2: wanted to do is just build that bridge between no
- 2:43Speaker 2: jumper in the city because he's just come, they're just
- 2:47Speaker 2: coming out to be at the festival. They're going to
- 2:49Speaker 2: do some meet and greets or enjoy the talent. They're
- 2:51Speaker 2: going to watch it, cover the event, maybe create some content,
- 2:54Speaker 2: But really, we're just trying to build that organic bridge
- 2:56Speaker 2: to No Jumper and what they do because there's a
- 2:59Speaker 2: lot of artists in the city that I think would
- 3:01Speaker 2: thrive being seen on that platform. Right. Rum Nitty, for example.
- 3:06Speaker 2: V the Ruler for example. For sure. Big Doobie, for example.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Like the real spitters in the city.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Doobie's dope, man.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Doobie's fucking dope. Nitty is a fucking monster. He's an alien.
- 3:15Speaker 2: So Odd Squad. You know, like there's the Young Wave,
- 3:19Speaker 2: Sam X. Sam X is absolutely exceptional, you know.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah, there's, like, a cool little underground wave, too, with, like,
- 3:25Speaker 1: DJ Goth and, like, some of those more, like, some
- 3:28Speaker 1: of the, like, fucking loud, weird, young shit that, like.
- 3:31Speaker 2: MTM1, Spooky.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Yeah. What's the dude's name who... There's some new dude
- 3:37Speaker 1: who I fucking... Remember that dude who I reviewed on
- 3:39Speaker 1: the show and he had a bunch of, like, day
- 3:41Speaker 1: shift strippers in the video? But it was, like, he had, like,
- 3:44Speaker 1: a crazy voice. Maybe that is him. What is it?
- 3:49Speaker 2: MTM1.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Dreadlocks?
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah, he's on the festival. He's from Chicago.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Okay, that's what I'm thinking.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he's on the festival. So he's got a really
- 3:55Speaker 2: dope wave. He throws his own blood raves in the
- 3:58Speaker 2: EDM world. And they do the blade with the- There's blood?
- 4:02Speaker 2: It's fake blood, but yeah, they do blood raves. So
- 4:05Speaker 2: he's in the underground scene for real, for real.
- 4:07Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 4:07Speaker 2: And then he also does his rap shit where his
- 4:09Speaker 2: imagery is fantastic. He's really dope at the visuals, and
- 4:12Speaker 2: his music's dope. Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like Phoenix has so many different
- 4:15Speaker 1: like pockets of like the scene and like, you know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I feel like it is, it's still, um, unscratched potential there,
- 4:25Speaker 1: but I feel like because of like, uh, you know,
- 4:29Speaker 1: the meat, I feel like the media landscape has changed
- 4:31Speaker 1: there where you've got like these like mini blogs popping
- 4:33Speaker 1: up that are kind of starting to catch on like
- 4:35Speaker 1: AZ way too active, obviously.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Down in the desert, way too active value underground.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yeah. So I think even, um, The Cactus Club guy
- 4:44Speaker 1: who's doing the hood vlogs and the YouTube channel.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Valley Club. Valley Club. Yeah, core.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So, yeah, I think it's starting to, like, bubble. And
- 4:52Speaker 1: I think it's helpful, too, that, like, a lot of
- 4:55Speaker 1: people just like to go to Phoenix to party. So
- 4:59Speaker 1: now they're like, oh, it's nice out here. Oh, there's
- 5:01Speaker 1: some artists out here.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I think they're going to get money, too.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And get money.
- 5:04Speaker 2: There's a lot of opportunity.
- 5:05Speaker 1: There's a lot of opportunity in Phoenix, for sure. Um,
- 5:08Speaker 1: you have been a part. So I will always like,
- 5:10Speaker 1: whenever people ask me about you, I always kind of
- 5:12Speaker 1: describe you as like, if I describe you to people,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I always will say you're kind of like the McKay
- 5:20Speaker 1: Pfeiffer in eight mile of our city. Like you're throwing
- 5:25Speaker 1: all the events. You're kind of like the.
- 5:27Speaker 2: The, the, like, they're like, you know, that was proof, right? Right.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah. So you're kind of like the, you're an OG rapper.
- 5:36Speaker 1: You used to be in a group called Cutthroat Logic.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I saw you guys open up for Wu-Tang when I
- 5:39Speaker 1: was a kid. But you've obviously, over the years, you've
- 5:45Speaker 1: went solo. And what year did you launch Respect the Underground?
- 5:49Speaker 2: 2012.
- 5:50Speaker 1: So you're kind of like the guy, I always tell people,
- 5:54Speaker 1: because is it fair to say that you have like
- 5:56Speaker 1: a lot of pushback in the local rap scene because
- 6:00Speaker 1: you will have like, people sell tickets to get on
- 6:03Speaker 1: your show.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Everybody, I hold everyone accountable.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But that's the thing that is very, in my opinion,
- 6:08Speaker 1: being someone who's lived in nine cities in Dunn Radio,
- 6:14Speaker 1: it's a normal thing, right? And I always tell everybody, like,
- 6:18Speaker 1: what justice does is like, it's like a necessary thing
- 6:23Speaker 1: in a scene. Like, there is like the type of
- 6:26Speaker 1: artist who needs to go and prove themselves at Arizona
- 6:30Speaker 1: Hip Hop Fest or RTU showcase and they might suck
- 6:35Speaker 1: but there's no other outlet for them to get on
- 6:37Speaker 1: a stage and that stage might be somewhere on the
- 6:40Speaker 1: north side because I remember you guys used to do
- 6:41Speaker 1: showcases like Joe's.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Grotto yeah Joe's Grotto 22nd Thunderbird.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I remember that so it's like there's at the end
- 6:47Speaker 1: of the day if there's like this this scene of
- 6:50Speaker 1: artists who are unpolished and some of them might not
- 6:54Speaker 1: have a future whatsoever.
- 6:56Speaker 2: But that so you have to give everyone an opportunity
- 6:58Speaker 2: like you have two sides to the business you have
- 7:00Speaker 2: the artist development side which is the Underground Academy. And
- 7:03Speaker 2: that's where we teach them how to build a sustainable
- 7:06Speaker 2: business model. And it's grown tremendously, right? But then you
- 7:09Speaker 2: have the other side of the business where we celebrate
- 7:11Speaker 2: our fucking hometown heroes, our nitties, our be the rulers,
- 7:14Speaker 2: our doobies, everybody who deserves it. Markham's. Markham's. Markham's is headlining.
- 7:19Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Record of the year. Phoenix
- 7:21Speaker 2: is absolutely the record of the year.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. I'm loving to see Markham's growth.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Oh, man. And he's been spazzing. for the last 10 years,
- 7:31Speaker 2: just wrapping his ass off everywhere he went. He earned it.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Him and Bryce worked their asses off to get where
- 7:36Speaker 2: they are.
- 7:36Speaker 1: 100%.
- 7:37Speaker 2: So you have two sides to the coin, right? But
- 7:39Speaker 2: everybody sells tickets. Like, we flood the block, bro. We
- 7:42Speaker 2: get 150,000 tickets in the city, 10% show up, 15,000
- 7:47Speaker 2: people at an all-local event with no national headliner. Where
- 7:50Speaker 2: are they doing that anywhere else in the country?
- 7:52Speaker 1: For sure. I mean, and that's the thing is, like,
- 7:54Speaker 1: for you.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So we have to be real about a couple of things. One,
- 7:59Speaker 1: you're running a business. So it costs money to throw
- 8:01Speaker 1: these events. You're not doing like you, you are like,
- 8:05Speaker 1: you're a father. You know what I'm saying? You have
- 8:07Speaker 1: kids who you got to feed.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Like baby mamas, eight kids.
- 8:10Speaker 1: God damn. Um, but so it's like, yeah, there's a
- 8:14Speaker 1: business aspect to this where it's like for profit because
- 8:17Speaker 1: everybody is doing what they're doing to make a living.
- 8:19Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? So I don't, I don't
- 8:22Speaker 1: understand the, like, I guess the, hell you get for
- 8:26Speaker 1: that and it's like hey at the same time it
- 8:27Speaker 1: is a necessary platform for like you said there's two
- 8:32Speaker 1: sides of it but i do think like sometimes an
- 8:35Speaker 1: artist needs to also realize all right i did joe's
- 8:40Speaker 1: grotto in 2013 and i'm terrible so i see a lot.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Of like i i need to give up So if
- 8:48Speaker 2: you knew how many artists I've worked with, we have
- 8:50Speaker 2: a database with 10,000 artists registered.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And most of them in Phoenix or Tucson?
- 8:55Speaker 2: 80%.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Okay, so 80% of that's Arizona-based.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 1: So over the years, so about 10,000 artists. Correct. And
- 9:03Speaker 1: out of those, what percentage? A half a percent?
- 9:07Speaker 2: I would say 1% to 2% are lifers. It's in them,
- 9:11Speaker 2: not on them. Making music is who they are. They
- 9:13Speaker 2: will always create art, fashion. perform, video. They're just creatives.
- 9:18Speaker 2: That's who they are. And then you have your hobbyists
- 9:21Speaker 2: who are always going to make music because it's fucking fun.
- 9:23Speaker 2: It's like fantasy football.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It's like my cousin Austin. I feel like my cousin
- 9:27Speaker 1: Austin just put out new rap music and it's cool
- 9:31Speaker 1: because he's my cousin, but it's also like it's his hobby.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Skyrider. Shout out to my little brother Skyrider.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Northside's finest. But I feel like when him or like,
- 9:41Speaker 1: I'll see some people who we've kind of, we know
- 9:43Speaker 1: the same rappers, right? Where it's like, I mean, if
- 9:47Speaker 1: this is fun, it's fun. So just do it. Like,
- 9:49Speaker 1: some people are just.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Doing the shit for fun. Right?
- 9:51Speaker 1: Have a blast. And then there's people who are like, okay,
- 9:54Speaker 1: I really want to... This is my everything. I need
- 9:57Speaker 1: to figure out how to break through. And and that's
- 9:59Speaker 1: why like even doing some of these music reviews i've
- 10:01Speaker 1: been doing online like man.
- 10:03Speaker 2: You're so you're so honest.
- 10:06Speaker 1: But dude like for example like uh there's this dude
- 10:09Speaker 1: from sunny slope named long shot do you know this
- 10:12Speaker 1: guy i do so his music isn't very good in
- 10:15Speaker 1: my opinion uh And he submits, he submit like four
- 10:18Speaker 1: weeks in a row. And every single week I was just,
- 10:20Speaker 1: I was just like, dog, dog, bruh. But like, I
- 10:24Speaker 1: still see him DMing me and he's still, he's still like,
- 10:31Speaker 1: he did, he took it on the chin, if that
- 10:32Speaker 1: makes sense. And like, he's, I think he's a lifer.
- 10:35Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:36Speaker 2: And that's, so some people are going to do this forever. Forever.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Because they love it.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And that's, and to me, sometimes we just have to
- 10:43Speaker 1: kind of realize like, With like any local rap scene
- 10:46Speaker 1: or any hip hop scene, like some people are doing
- 10:48Speaker 1: this because they love it enough where it's like, yo,
- 10:51Speaker 1: some people go to and play poker on the weekends
- 10:53Speaker 1: with their homies. Some people say, I'm going to record
- 10:56Speaker 1: a rap album this weekend. You know what I'm saying?
- 10:57Speaker 1: You already know, baby, our family at Odd Socks. They
- 11:00Speaker 1: have been rocking with the Bootleg Hip Podcast since day one.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And listen, man, the basics have been killing it.
- 11:07Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Whether you're into the ankle socks, the quarter socks, the
- 11:09Speaker 1: tube socks, black, white, whatever it is. Odd socks basics.
- 11:13Speaker 1: These are the most comfortable socks that you will ever
- 11:15Speaker 1: put on your feet. And I've been saying that for years.
- 11:17Speaker 1: And I mean, it's the only socks I wear, the
- 11:19Speaker 1: only socks in my house. And obviously there's competing brands
- 11:25Speaker 1: that you might be used to wearing the white tube socks. Listen,
- 11:29Speaker 1: not only are these better, they're more affordable and they're
- 11:32Speaker 1: more comfortable. And when I say more affordable, I'm not
- 11:34Speaker 1: playing You could get yourself a six-pack just like this
- 11:37Speaker 1: for only $ 16. 99. And the good thing about Odd Socks,
- 11:41Speaker 1: they now got the subscription service, too. So if you
- 11:43Speaker 1: just want fresh, clean socks delivered every single month, they'll
- 11:46Speaker 1: take care of you there. Odd Socks Basics. Go to oddsocks.com.

- 11:58Speaker 1: when I say the basics. Listen, I don't care if
- 12:00Speaker 1: it's Snoop Dogg and his team, the Alchemist, anybody— Freddie,
- 12:06Speaker 1: everybody who gets these socks, hit me like, yo, tell
- 12:09Speaker 1: Odd Socks we need a new box. The basics, the basics,
- 12:11Speaker 1: the basics, all right? Oddsocks.com, use the promo code BOOTLEG,
- 12:14Speaker 1: save 20% off. Let's get back into the interview. So
- 12:17Speaker 1: I think Respect the Underground has, I think it's been
- 12:20Speaker 1: a net positive for Arizona hip-hop, and I think that
- 12:24Speaker 1: it's important to say that because it's like, I feel
- 12:26Speaker 1: like y'all get a lot of hell for shit that
- 12:28Speaker 1: I'm like, dog, like, if.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Like, nobody else is doing... Somebody should do a better
- 12:35Speaker 1: job then.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I challenge anyone.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I challenge everyone. Or somebody should figure out the incubator
- 12:39Speaker 1: system and do it for free.
- 12:42Speaker 2: So we built a sustainable business model.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Right, which is important, but at the same time, everyone
- 12:47Speaker 1: who's talking shit, do your own thing.
- 12:50Speaker 2: And they can't. Not a lot of them.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And shout out, DJ Pest has been doing a good job.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Pest does a great job. Salute to Pest.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Pest has been doing cool events.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Jalopi Bungus, Jasan Abernathy. Just sold out his own headliner.
- 13:01Speaker 2: He's on the festival, right?
- 13:03Speaker 1: He's dope.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Amazing artist. I gave him his first show.
- 13:05Speaker 1: AZ way too active. You know, I want them to
- 13:07Speaker 1: get another venue. Shout out to my guy Benji and Staz.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It'd be nice if they could, because they had a
- 13:11Speaker 1: little venue going. But those guys, I think they need
- 13:13Speaker 1: to start doing some live events. But I think, like, again,
- 13:16Speaker 1: it's like, dog, you've been doing it for so many years,
- 13:19Speaker 1: showing up. And, you know, it is what it is. Like,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I'm sure you've had moments over the years that you
- 13:24Speaker 1: don't necessarily like, that you might regret.
- 13:27Speaker 2: In my career? Yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Oh, God, absolutely.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I feel like you're beefing with someone every two weeks
- 13:31Speaker 1: on Facebook. Is that fair?
- 13:32Speaker 2: Oh, I get death threats daily.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Are you always in a beef on Facebook?
- 13:37Speaker 2: So I typically don't entertain it, right?
- 13:40Speaker 1: It's Facebook. Bro, I don't even be following people no more.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I just be like, damn.
- 13:44Speaker 2: But when it's festival season, it's par for the course,
- 13:46Speaker 2: and I like that shit with a heart. Because I'm
- 13:48Speaker 2: 15 years in the game. Ain't nobody pull up yet.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:51Speaker 2: So, I mean, I got two sets of gloves in
- 13:52Speaker 2: the car at all times. I'm at the gym every
- 13:54Speaker 2: morning at 830. You want to pull up and catch it,
- 13:56Speaker 2: we can pull up and catch it. I'll buy you
- 13:57Speaker 2: a smoothie when we're done. Right. Like, there's nothing to it.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:00Speaker 2: But the vilification, you know, comes from them not getting
- 14:04Speaker 2: results from the delusional outcome that they expected. Right. Like,
- 14:09Speaker 2: they think I'm this Cinderella story that I'm just going
- 14:11Speaker 2: to fly them out to meet, you know, Birdman and
- 14:13Speaker 2: get a deal with Cash Money because they sold out
- 14:16Speaker 2: the festival and whatever like no that ain't that kind
- 14:18Speaker 2: of party like I like this is to celebrate the
- 14:21Speaker 2: culture and it's a community based event and it influxes
- 14:23Speaker 2: the economy and the ecosystem that we created right but
- 14:27Speaker 2: for the young artists like when people bad mouth the
- 14:30Speaker 2: brand or myself is like picture somebody gets a membership
- 14:34Speaker 2: at a gym and then they purchase a trainer and
- 14:36Speaker 2: they pay him a thousand dollars a week to get
- 14:37Speaker 2: training but they don't go to the gym they don't
- 14:40Speaker 2: follow the diet they don't follow the workouts and then
- 14:43Speaker 2: at the end of the six month span or whatever
- 14:44Speaker 2: they're mad at the trainer because he scammed them Because
- 14:47Speaker 2: they didn't get swole.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But they did nothing that he taught them. That's the
- 14:52Speaker 2: equivalent of what we do.
- 14:53Speaker 1: That makes sense.
- 14:54Speaker 2: We shooting in the gym and these motherfuckers do not
- 14:56Speaker 2: lift weights. They don't eat healthy. They don't rehearse. They
- 14:58Speaker 2: don't practice. They show up. They take a selfie with
- 15:01Speaker 2: their girl and then they vilify me and I scammed them.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Do you feel like, I do feel like that Arizona
- 15:07Speaker 1: has a, I mean, and I've lived in other places
- 15:10Speaker 1: with similar issues like Vegas and Tampa, but it has
- 15:14Speaker 1: like a, everybody seems to get motion or traction by
- 15:18Speaker 1: just going at each other.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Unfortunately.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And then they see the local, uh, engagement on those
- 15:26Speaker 1: kinds of posts or just being like, just stirring shit up.
- 15:29Speaker 1: And then it's like, it just is. It's like, hell,
- 15:31Speaker 1: that's why I like shout out to Merck. Cause I
- 15:34Speaker 1: feel like Muffler has been going at his head for
- 15:35Speaker 1: like two or three years. And he's just like, he
- 15:38Speaker 1: does a really good job of like, flying above it,
- 15:42Speaker 1: I guess, I would say.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Well, he is above it because he's earned it. But, like,
- 15:45Speaker 2: with me, I enjoy engaging with it.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Because you're petty as fuck.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I'm petty. I am. And I'm working on that. Sort of.
- 15:54Speaker 2: But it is what it is, man. Like, God bless him.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I wish him the best. But can't nobody knock me
- 16:00Speaker 2: off my pivot. Do what I do better than me
- 16:02Speaker 2: and I will support you and help you. And even
- 16:04Speaker 2: give you some game or venues or resources or whatever
- 16:07Speaker 2: you need because it's not cheap.
- 16:08Speaker 1: What year, like, How many years ago did you initially
- 16:12Speaker 1: first start rapping?
- 16:13Speaker 2: I've been rapping since I was 10. So that was,
- 16:15Speaker 2: I don't know. 1990.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I was three.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I'm 46.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Well, I'm 39, so that's crazy. All right, so you've
- 16:23Speaker 1: been doing this for a very long time. Cutthroat Logic
- 16:25Speaker 1: ended up being a thing in the 90s, early 2000s. Yeah.
- 16:32Speaker 1: What was like, because I do feel like you have
- 16:35Speaker 1: a lot of insight in terms of just like the
- 16:38Speaker 1: historical context of, AZ Hip Hop.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I could run it back from the start. Right.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So it's like, we've had so many legends, like, you know, Rockadalla,
- 16:46Speaker 1: shout out to Mr. I-Rock, shout out to Survivalist, Boogie,
- 16:50Speaker 1: MC Magic. Oak.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Merge McVay, Bionic Jive.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Bionic Jive was on Interscope.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Associates.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Associates. Shout out to Mega Man.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Poke was signed to Artist Direct for 1.5. Yeah, Pokeface.
- 17:01Speaker 2: That was the first million dollar deal out the city. No.
- 17:04Speaker 2: And Poke will always be my OG. Poke put me
- 17:06Speaker 2: in a position to win. And when he signed his deal,
- 17:08Speaker 2: he never switched up on Cutthroat.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Nah, Poke's the shit.
- 17:10Speaker 2: But Cutthroat then came in and was just selling out.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Like our album released in 2004 had a thousand people
- 17:15Speaker 2: at it. Right. No radio support. No internet. We pounded
- 17:19Speaker 2: the pavement. There was only like six or seven opening acts.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and like back then, there was like, I want
- 17:27Speaker 1: to say back then, it was what, Friday Night Flavors
- 17:29Speaker 1: was on? Like Squeak Boogie.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Squeak and Matlocks gave me my first interview on Friday
- 17:33Speaker 2: Night Flavors the night before the release. It was January 23rd, 2004.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Crazy. Yeah, it was just like, it was kind of
- 17:40Speaker 1: like a dope era of hip hop because like you said,
- 17:42Speaker 1: the Associates were doing their thing and then like, there
- 17:44Speaker 1: was all these dope Club Red shows happening and like, fucking...
- 17:48Speaker 1: What's bruh's name? The light-skinned bruh who threw all the
- 17:51Speaker 1: rap shows.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Ty Michael Carter.
- 17:53Speaker 1: TMC Presents.
- 17:54Speaker 2: TMC will always be... I remember his mom. Yeah, Adi.
- 17:58Speaker 2: God rest her soul. That was Polk's manager.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So TMC put.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Me on because we would do the street team to
- 18:05Speaker 2: pass out flyers, right? And I was probably like 17
- 18:08Speaker 2: or 18. It was the Roots in Common at Club Rio.
- 18:12Speaker 2: And we had picked up Common from the airport, took
- 18:15Speaker 2: him to LA Fitness to play basketball.
- 18:17Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Because this was when Common was just a fucking conscious rapper, right? Like,
- 18:21Speaker 2: it wasn't really, nobody really equated it like, yo, this
- 18:23Speaker 2: dude's about to be a mega superstar. And Polk and
- 18:27Speaker 2: Cash were on stage, and they called me out. They
- 18:30Speaker 2: were like, who wants to battle? And they pulled me
- 18:32Speaker 2: out of the crowd, and I battled some dude from
- 18:33Speaker 2: Park South, a couple other cats, but the crowd went nuts.
- 18:36Speaker 2: And then Ty was like, dog, Like, you guys need
- 18:38Speaker 2: to do this for real. Right. I was fucking 17.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Right, right, right.
- 18:41Speaker 2: You know, so like it's moments like that. The concert
- 18:44Speaker 2: game is even different. The energy is not the same.
- 18:47Speaker 2: People used to get dressed up to go to shows.
- 18:50Speaker 2: That was like a thing.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Back in the day, that's how people were. I mean,
- 18:54Speaker 1: people used to. I don't feel like people really be
- 18:55Speaker 1: dressing up to go to the club anymore.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Man, they don't dance either.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Bitches be wearing fucking bras and fucking.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Girls are naked. The girls are in their underwear and
- 19:03Speaker 2: dudes are wearing like overcoats in the summer.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And fucking baggy sweats.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Yeah, like, bro.
- 19:09Speaker 1: JNCO cut sweats.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 19:11Speaker 1: It's crazy. So for you, man, how would you kind
- 19:14Speaker 1: of describe, like, because I feel like, you know, Arizona
- 19:20Speaker 1: is like a place that is obviously, like you said,
- 19:22Speaker 1: a lot of people go there to get money. A
- 19:23Speaker 1: lot of people got bitches there. A lot of people
- 19:25Speaker 1: like to party there. The hip-hop scene is definitely one
- 19:29Speaker 1: that is growing, but at the same time, I feel
- 19:33Speaker 1: like it's its own worst enemy. Yeah. Is there anything
- 19:38Speaker 1: that you feel like the city needs to be better at?
- 19:43Speaker 1: Because you always will hear people say, well, you got to...
- 19:45Speaker 1: And this is the thing that really pisses me off
- 19:48Speaker 1: about like, just artists in general. Not even... It's not
- 19:52Speaker 1: an Arizona-specific thing. But the amount of, like, the lack
- 19:57Speaker 1: of accountability people have for, like, why they're not bigger.
- 20:00Speaker 1: It's always someone else's fault. It's like, well.
- 20:02Speaker 2: There's no accountability. Well, if.
- 20:05Speaker 1: the radio in Phoenix was like the radio in LA.
- 20:08Speaker 1: We'd get support. And it's like, that's incorrect. All the way.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Also the radio in LA is stricter than the radio
- 20:14Speaker 1: in Phoenix.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Dude. Jay steel is doing the best job. Any program
- 20:18Speaker 2: director has done in years. He gives beat locker three
- 20:21Speaker 2: hours every Sunday morning.
- 20:22Speaker 1: It's like, it's like people just say dumb shit like that.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And then at the same time, it's like, well, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 1: I've had, uh, people say like, you know, well, if, um,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I've had people walk up to me and be like, yo,
- 20:35Speaker 1: I need to come on your podcast. By the way,
- 20:37Speaker 1: this is not a Phoenix specific.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Need.
- 20:39Speaker 1: This happened at ComplexCon. Some dude literally was like, yo,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I need to get on that podcast. And I was like, oh,
- 20:45Speaker 1: what's up, man? And I was like, well, shoot me
- 20:48Speaker 1: a DM. I'll check you out. He's like, you don't
- 20:50Speaker 1: know who I am? And I was like, obviously not, man. Well,
- 20:54Speaker 1: let me give you my number. And I was like,
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm not giving my number to you, dog. Just DM me.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I'll check it out. You know what I'm saying?
- 21:00Speaker 2: The art of communication is gone.
- 21:02Speaker 1: It's that. And just people have like a real, like
- 21:05Speaker 1: they're very, very like entitled for like shit that like they,
- 21:09Speaker 1: like you said, it's like, bro, there's so many artists
- 21:12Speaker 1: in AZ that are so talented. And for the most part,
- 21:16Speaker 1: all of the artists I think are dope that I've,
- 21:19Speaker 1: that I'm aware of have been on my show. I
- 21:22Speaker 1: think I've had like 43 or 44 different Arizona rappers
- 21:25Speaker 1: on the Blue Lakehead podcast here in LA.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Spazzing. And, Has Nitty been on the show yet?
- 21:31Speaker 1: Who?
- 21:32Speaker 2: Nitty?
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah. We interviewed him. He didn't rap. He needs to rap.
- 21:36Speaker 2: He needs to come back and rap.
- 21:38Speaker 1: But again, it's like there's not another national platform. Obviously,
- 21:46Speaker 1: I'm from Phoenix.
- 21:48Speaker 2: You're fucking global, bro.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I'm a complex media powerless guy. I just got nominated
- 21:54Speaker 1: for a BT Award. I'm doing, in my opinion, what
- 21:57Speaker 1: I would do with anybody. And that's if I see
- 21:59Speaker 1: someone that's dope, I want to try to help bring
- 22:02Speaker 1: them exposure. I invite them on the show. If they
- 22:05Speaker 1: happen to be from Phoenix, even better because I'm from Phoenix.
- 22:08Speaker 1: But it's never good enough.
- 22:10Speaker 2: It's never good enough. It's never good enough. Put it
- 22:13Speaker 2: like this, man. No matter what we do, it's never
- 22:15Speaker 2: going to be good enough. Right. And if the festival
- 22:18Speaker 2: was free or a nonprofit, no one would come.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Facts.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Because people don't attend free shit. You make a concert free,
- 22:26Speaker 2: I used to do it to test it out. No
- 22:27Speaker 2: one would show up. Open mic free, nobody shows up.
- 22:31Speaker 2: But charge $ 100 at the door and then give people
- 22:34Speaker 2: free tickets, we sell out. The psychology is asinine. But
- 22:39Speaker 2: to go back to your question, what does Arizona need
- 22:41Speaker 2: to do? Arizona needs to understand the business of music.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It is a music business.
- 22:49Speaker 2: It's a music business. It is not the Music Salvation Army.
- 22:52Speaker 2: This is not a charity. This is not a non-profit organization.
- 22:55Speaker 2: This is a for-profit capitalization business. And if the state
- 23:02Speaker 2: and the city as a whole supported each other by
- 23:07Speaker 2: purchasing music from local artists, downloading it, sharing it, being
- 23:12Speaker 2: more just proficient in what's going on in the city,
- 23:16Speaker 2: then we would see, if we had an economy like Houston,
- 23:19Speaker 2: for example, Atlanta, they have their own ecosystem. You can
- 23:24Speaker 2: make a million dollars coming out the trunk in both
- 23:26Speaker 2: those markets independently because those markets support their own.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think it's the other thing. It's on
- 23:35Speaker 1: the artist to build a buzz.
- 23:37Speaker 2: You got to build a buzz. You have to invest
- 23:39Speaker 2: in yourself.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You got to invest in yourself. The internet has removed
- 23:45Speaker 1: all gatekeepers. So whatever... Gatekeeping that you think exists in
- 23:48Speaker 1: the music industry?
- 23:50Speaker 2: It does not exist. Everyone is a DM away.
- 23:52Speaker 1: 100%.
- 23:54Speaker 2: If you make enough noise, you have to generate that energy.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like any of the artists in AZ that
- 24:00Speaker 1: got motion, they all got motion from their phone.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Understanding the business and then getting to a bag to
- 24:06Speaker 2: create that motion and not being scared to put that
- 24:08Speaker 2: bag on you to win. for sure me and caleb
- 24:11Speaker 2: used to joke my first you know too short concert
- 24:13Speaker 2: be like 10 bands on too short to win right
- 24:15Speaker 2: like you know now it's it's 100 bands on az
- 24:17Speaker 2: to win every time i throw a festival 200 bands
- 24:20Speaker 2: in 2019 right nobody's putting 200 racks up for an
- 24:23Speaker 2: all-local hip-hop concert right ever in life it's insane but
- 24:27Speaker 2: i'm not exactly.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Well uh there was like this little pocket of uh
- 24:32Speaker 1: AZ Hip Hop, where we had a bunch of guys
- 24:34Speaker 1: getting signed. It was the Hot Rod.
- 24:35Speaker 2: 2008.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it was the Man.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Of the Squad.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Willie, Hot Rod.
- 24:39Speaker 2: C-Thug. Rico. C-Thug. Signed with Universal.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Juice signed with Game.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Juice signed with Game. Rod signed with 50.
- 24:46Speaker 1: What do you think? Why do you think none of
- 24:47Speaker 1: those things worked out? And obviously, all of those are
- 24:51Speaker 1: separate situations and separate answers, I'm sure.
- 24:56Speaker 2: We could place Bame on the Curse of Arizona.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Because I joke the Curse of AZ is a real thing.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Like, how does Michael.
- 25:03Speaker 1: If you think one of those guys.
- 25:04Speaker 2: When Michael Jackson dies today, will the album come out? True.
- 25:08Speaker 2: That's like, you can't write that shit.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Listen, I wouldn't say Hot Rod's like an Arizona guy,
- 25:12Speaker 1: but he was claiming Arizona.
- 25:13Speaker 2: He was an Arizona guy, but if you look.
- 25:14Speaker 1: He was in Man Up Squad.
- 25:15Speaker 2: If you look at his story, 50 rocked with him,
- 25:18Speaker 2: and he fucked up a couple times, and 50 wrote
- 25:21Speaker 2: it out until, like, even gave him his own label
- 25:24Speaker 2: with Gino.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Well, he had a... A song with Mary.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Produced by Dr.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Dre. And it was a joint. The B-Eazy record was
- 25:31Speaker 1: a joint.
- 25:31Speaker 2: But I don't know what A & R okayed that
- 25:33Speaker 2: fucking verse. Right. But that was one of the worst
- 25:36Speaker 2: verses I've ever... Nacho cheese?
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a rough verse.
- 25:39Speaker 2: It was so bad, I remember it.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it was rough.
- 25:41Speaker 2: And I was like, yo, who greenlit this fucking verse? Like,
- 25:44Speaker 2: this is terrible.
- 25:45Speaker 1: But the beat and the hook was crazy.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Oh my God, it was Mary J. Blige and a Dr.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Dre fucking beat. Like, get the fuck out of here.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like Juice had some dope shit and
- 25:52Speaker 1: then Judge ended up signing with Stoudemire.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Amari Stoudemire. And he had Hell Yeah, which got picked
- 25:58Speaker 2: up by.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Which label was it?
- 25:59Speaker 2: Oh, Shadiq. It's the... The.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Producer, Salaam Remy's... There it is. Salaam Remy's label.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:06Speaker 1: That record was dope. Shout out to Jags.
- 26:08Speaker 2: We still rock that record at Jags. Hell yeah. I've
- 26:11Speaker 2: done judges ad libs for that live because I know
- 26:14Speaker 2: it word for word.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Great record.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Easy to remember, but smacker. Man, it's just, unfortunately, the
- 26:21Speaker 2: bag is not behind the records and allocated appropriately. is
- 26:25Speaker 2: my opinion. I think the budgets get put into the
- 26:27Speaker 2: wrong avenues to push these records. And the organic fan
- 26:31Speaker 2: bases aren't built up and then grown and scaled out regionally.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Some people call you a bully. Do you think you're
- 26:38Speaker 1: a bully?
- 26:38Speaker 2: Not at all. I don't want no problems. What's the problem?
- 26:42Speaker 2: But don't tease me with a good time. Well, you
- 26:45Speaker 2: have like....
- 26:47Speaker 1: Besides the situation you and I just talked about off camera,
- 26:50Speaker 1: a while ago you had like... You've made it hard
- 26:52Speaker 1: for people to.
- 26:56Speaker 1: To throw shows in Phoenix at times.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Oh, no. I wouldn't say that.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Right?
- 27:01Speaker 2: But I support everything. Right. I'll even send people my
- 27:05Speaker 2: dates so they work around them. But why would I
- 27:08Speaker 2: make it hard for people to throw shows? Why would
- 27:09Speaker 2: I do that? I don't know. I would never stop
- 27:12Speaker 2: somebody from doing something that's beneficial to the city unless
- 27:14Speaker 2: they have an ulterior motive and they own some slimeball shit.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Okay.
- 27:18Speaker 2: If you're a slimeball and you're out here and you're
- 27:20Speaker 2: fucking just manipulating the fuck out of my city and
- 27:23Speaker 2: you're on some fuck shit, And, you know, you want
- 27:26Speaker 2: to get slit and run your mouth, and you might
- 27:28Speaker 2: get slit on.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:29Speaker 2: But I'm not going to slide on you on no
- 27:30Speaker 2: gangster shit. I'm just going to approach you in public
- 27:32Speaker 2: and lean on you, and we'll have a conversation, man-to-man.
- 27:34Speaker 1: You already know Arizona, man. The Bootleg Head Podcast brought
- 27:37Speaker 1: to you by our partners at Raffi Law Group. Now,
- 27:39Speaker 1: we love Raffi Law Group, man. Arizona's premier personal injury firm.
- 27:43Speaker 1: What I love about Raffi is they're so dependable, so trustworthy,
- 27:47Speaker 1: and they get the job done. They've helped over 70,000
- 27:48Speaker 1: Arizonans survive. I know you see the billboards everywhere. I
- 27:53Speaker 1: know you can't avoid seeing my man Rafi's face everywhere,
- 27:57Speaker 1: but it's because he is the absolute best, all right?
- 27:59Speaker 1: He's helping my wife. get through an accident situation, got
- 28:02Speaker 1: her paid. My mother-in-law, same situation. My best friend's parents
- 28:07Speaker 1: just used Raffi and got a big payday. So make
- 28:10Speaker 1: sure if you get into an accident, if you need help,
- 28:12Speaker 1: all right, it could be an accident. It could be
- 28:14Speaker 1: a slip and fall. It could be any personal injury situation.
- 28:17Speaker 1: They're going to take care of it, all right? All
- 28:19Speaker 1: you got to do is call Raffi. You know what
- 28:21Speaker 1: it is, man. Call Raffi, 623-6255.
- 28:23Speaker 2: 388-4333.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Rafi Law Group, the only personal injury law firm that
- 28:30Speaker 1: we will ever rock with right here on the Blue
- 28:31Speaker 1: Lake Head podcast. All right, week seven, NFL, man. I've
- 28:34Speaker 1: been on a run with my calci picks. I think I've, like,
- 28:37Speaker 1: gotten three straight, all right? And I'm feeling good about
- 28:40Speaker 1: this week. Hit the link in the bio. Don't forget,
- 28:43Speaker 1: you support the Bootleg Kev Podcast when you support our partners.
- 28:47Speaker 1: So hit that link in the bio. And on CalSheet,
- 28:50Speaker 1: you'll get $ 55 for free when you trade 25 bucks.
- 28:54Speaker 1: You could also use the promo code Kev on CalSheet,
- 28:57Speaker 1: but it's easier if you just hit the link in
- 28:58Speaker 1: the bio. Look, this week, man, I'm loving the Houston
- 29:01Speaker 1: Texans to win by over nine and a half points
- 29:05Speaker 1: against the New York Giants. All right, that's trading at 51%
- 29:08Speaker 1: right now on CalSheet. This is how I see it.
- 29:11Speaker 1: The Texans are finally getting it together. Marvin Harrison just
- 29:14Speaker 1: got traded there. Tank Dale's healthy this week. And Nico
- 29:17Speaker 1: Collins is there. CJ Stroud has all his weapons. That
- 29:20Speaker 1: defense is going to make life hell for James Winston
- 29:23Speaker 1: or JJ McCarthy or whoever the Giants decide to start
- 29:26Speaker 1: a quarterback for week seven. So that's what we like, man.
- 29:28Speaker 1: 51 cents a share. We're trading at 51% on Kalshi.
- 29:33Speaker 1: The Texans to win by over nine and a half points.
- 29:34Speaker 1: And if you didn't know, man, Kalshi, it's a dope
- 29:36Speaker 1: marketplace where you can make money trading on, real life
- 29:40Speaker 1: events happening, including things as crazy as like the Oscars. Yeah,
- 29:44Speaker 1: that's right. You could trade on the Oscars. You could
- 29:47Speaker 1: trade on the billboard chart.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie.
- 29:50Speaker 1: When we're talking about the Oscar best picture, I just
- 29:53Speaker 1: want to take a little peek here. This is kind
- 29:55Speaker 1: of interesting. The Odyssey is trading at 46% favorites, right?
- 30:00Speaker 1: But this movie, you can see everything? I don't know, man.
- 30:04Speaker 1: You can see everything. Feels like it's a documentary that
- 30:07Speaker 1: just dropped that everyone's talking about. Only trading at 18%?
- 30:12Speaker 1: Just saying. I like that a lot. I do like it.
- 30:15Speaker 1: All right. Whatever the case is, hit the link in
- 30:17Speaker 1: the bio. Make sure you do that. Get $ 55 for
- 30:21Speaker 1: free when you trade on Kalshi. $ 25. All right. That's right.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Trade $ 25. Get $ 55 for free. Let's get back to
- 30:26Speaker 1: the podcast. Who would you put in the Mount Rushmore
- 30:29Speaker 1: of Phoenix hip hop? Oh.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Wow, that's such a loaded question.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Four guys.
- 30:35Speaker 2: No, it's five.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Okay, give me your five.
- 30:37Speaker 2: It's five. MC Magic, Without Fail.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I agree.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Greatest Mexicano artist to ever come out of Arizona. Next
- 30:44Speaker 2: to him is I Rock, Without Fail.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Rockadala, for sure.
- 30:47Speaker 2: The two OGs that paved the way.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Yep.
- 30:49Speaker 2: And without those two.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Those are the two pillars.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Bridging the black and brown. They worked together. Magic gave
- 30:55Speaker 2: Rock's record to the radio.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yep, I remember that.
- 30:57Speaker 2: They supported each other. And because of Rock, I have
- 31:00Speaker 2: a song with Magic.
- 31:01Speaker 1: No, they're the two pillars. They are the foundation.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Without question. I mean, salute. And then you have, you know,
- 31:08Speaker 2: it's a toss up because you got.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I think after those two, it gets.
- 31:12Speaker 2: It gets sticky.
- 31:13Speaker 1: It gets sticky.
- 31:14Speaker 2: It gets really sticky because I want to throw you
- 31:15Speaker 2: in there because what you've done globally.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Well, I would take my. I'm talking about rappers. I
- 31:19Speaker 1: think if you just talk about.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Are we talking about just rappers?
- 31:22Speaker 1: If we're talking about.
- 31:23Speaker 2: We're not talking about hip hop in general.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're talking about just... I'm just talking about rappers.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Just rappers? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because if we're talking about
- 31:29Speaker 1: overall hip-hop, yes, I would even put myself in there.
- 31:32Speaker 2: So you also have it into eras, right? Because the
- 31:36Speaker 2: OG era and the current era, the futuristic era.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I think you've got to put futuristic.
- 31:43Speaker 2: You have to put that. You have to put futuristic.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I think he's the other guy.
- 31:46Speaker 2: But you also have to put Polka Face.
- 31:48Speaker 1: I like Polka Face.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Because Polk established lyrical elite penmanship. Mm-hmm. from the west but.
- 31:57Speaker 1: So is your five spot uh your five spots gonna
- 32:00Speaker 1: get sticky here because there's some some directions you could go.
- 32:03Speaker 2: There's so many directions i mean you got rom with
- 32:05Speaker 2: what he's done battle he's the number one one of
- 32:08Speaker 2: the best battle rappers in the world according to joe
- 32:10Speaker 2: budden best rapper in the battle rapper in the.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Universe so so he's in the discussion.
- 32:15Speaker 2: But what has he done impactfully like are we talking
- 32:19Speaker 2: about community impact because what magic iRock, and Poke have
- 32:23Speaker 2: done with Beat Locker, Marmara, and just Magic, period. Like,
- 32:30Speaker 2: they've tremendous impact. Willie, the impact on the community is, lyrically,
- 32:38Speaker 2: he is incredible. Like, Hood Dreamer's one of the greatest
- 32:43Speaker 2: fucking songs of all time. It came out before B.O.B.
- 32:46Speaker 2: even popped. Yeah, I told him, I was like, man,
- 32:48Speaker 2: that If that record had came out.
- 32:50Speaker 1: A year early.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Yeah. If that record had came out a year later
- 32:53Speaker 2: with a bag behind it, he would have been a
- 32:54Speaker 2: rock star. He would have gone diamond. Because it's an
- 32:57Speaker 2: amazing record. But are we just talking MC skill level?
- 33:02Speaker 1: I don't know what I'm just meaning.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Just overall. I think you.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Nailed the first two for sure. I mean, Polka Face
- 33:06Speaker 1: is in that combo.
- 33:07Speaker 2: He did Beat Locker. He's had Beat Locker for 10 years.
- 33:09Speaker 1: 100%.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Without Beat Locker, where artists getting their records played on
- 33:12Speaker 2: FM radio, they're not happening. So... I mean, you got
- 33:18Speaker 2: V the Ruler and what he's done.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Shout out to V.
- 33:20Speaker 2: I wouldn't know if he's Mount Rushmore, but he's definitely
- 33:24Speaker 2: one of the most consistent and talented. I mean, I
- 33:29Speaker 2: was a rapper, and what we did as Cutthroat Logic
- 33:32Speaker 2: was monumental.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Well, I think your Justice run has been more impactful, though, right?
- 33:36Speaker 2: Very much more. I mean, what we did as Cutthroat
- 33:39Speaker 2: was very similar, because we hosted the shows and sold
- 33:42Speaker 2: them out, but I was still the brains behind that.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Right, right, for sure.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I was the machine that made it work. So I'm
- 33:50Speaker 2: not gonna put myself on it ever, but, uh, it would,
- 33:53Speaker 2: it would be, yeah, man, it's, it's, it's both.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Who are we missing?
- 33:58Speaker 2: Magic. Um, futuristic.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I think those are the four then. I think I
- 34:04Speaker 1: like the futuristic, futuristic, magic.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I rock.
- 34:07Speaker 1: That's a, I mean, that's a good futuristic.
- 34:09Speaker 2: And then, and then, um, I, you got to give
- 34:11Speaker 2: it to rum for what he's done. That's a good
- 34:13Speaker 2: five because that's a, yeah. He's just, no one, he's
- 34:16Speaker 2: got over 50 million fucking views.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I think that's a great five.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Like, the guy flies out once every two months and
- 34:23Speaker 2: it's off with his head.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Nah, it's a good, I think that's a strong five.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I don't think anybody, there'll be a hard argument against
- 34:28Speaker 1: those five. And like, yeah, I think Zach is the, like, Zach,
- 34:31Speaker 1: you gotta like, dude.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Dude, what he did independently.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Whatever people want to say. And then he was throwing
- 34:35Speaker 1: those shows at Club Red.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Oh, fuck that. What he did on Jimmy Fallon with
- 34:40Speaker 2: That pop band, that song that went.
- 34:42Speaker 1: It was on Fallon, yeah.
- 34:42Speaker 2: That was like a top five Billboard chart, plus with
- 34:45Speaker 2: Nerd and Compton.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:46Speaker 2: And how he went viral with Jacob Owens.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Get the fuck out of here.
- 34:51Speaker 1: He was incredible. So December 12th is the festival. It's
- 34:55Speaker 1: one day?
- 34:56Speaker 2: Just one day, yeah. We do one day.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Tickets are on sale?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Absolutely. But buy them from your local artists. All the
- 35:04Speaker 2: artists that are performing on the festival keep 100% of
- 35:06Speaker 2: their tickets.
- 35:08Speaker 1: How many tickets do you anticipate? I know you have
- 35:12Speaker 1: a lot out in the streets.
- 35:13Speaker 2: We'll do 5,000 to 7,000 people in circulation throughout the day.
- 35:16Speaker 2: We did like 3,000 in summer. We did like 3,000
- 35:20Speaker 2: in spring. Last winter, last December, we did about 4,000.
- 35:24Speaker 2: But that was with the new venue, only three stages.
- 35:26Speaker 2: This one, we got six stages. We got the Mexicano
- 35:30Speaker 2: section with the lowriders and the tattoo artists and the
- 35:32Speaker 2: piñatas and the Spanish bands with the Mexicano hip-hop. And
- 35:35Speaker 2: then you got the legends inside. And then you got
- 35:37Speaker 2: the young wave outside. And then you got like the
- 35:39Speaker 2: underground academy, like the development stages. But we might even
- 35:42Speaker 2: be bringing out Kenny Dobbs and dropping a basketball court.
- 35:44Speaker 2: That'll be fire. Three on three. Celebrity tournament. Dunk contest.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Three point. You know, we get this sponsorship check to clear.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I'm going to go ahead and send it his way
- 35:52Speaker 2: and incorporate. We got a basketball logo with no jumper.
- 35:55Speaker 2: We might as well have Kenny out.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Might as well. Have him out there doing some fucking shit.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Kenny's a legend.
- 35:59Speaker 1: He is. He's one of the best dunkers in the world.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Arguably the best, you know. But that's a The festival
- 36:06Speaker 2: is to influx the economy and spread awareness so people
- 36:09Speaker 2: can celebrate each other's and support each other's businesses, from
- 36:12Speaker 2: the streetwear to the food to the cannabis. Shout out
- 36:14Speaker 2: to True Med, Drip, Project Packs, all the cannabis sponsors
- 36:17Speaker 2: that are coming into play. But we give away like
- 36:20Speaker 2: 5,000 pre-rolls every festival. That's a lot of money. Go
- 36:22Speaker 2: to a festival and get some free gas and let
- 36:24Speaker 2: me know where they do that at. Nowhere. There you go, man.
- 36:26Speaker 2: We do it here.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Well, appreciate you for pulling up, Justice. Appreciate you having me.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Follow my guy. Is Justice RTU?
- 36:32Speaker 2: Justice underscore RTU. At AZ Hip Hop Fest. Matty Ice
- 36:37Speaker 2: is a bitch. Bizarre is a bitch.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Oh, we didn't talk about the Bizarre thing.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I do want to talk about this. So Bizarre from D12.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Been on the show a couple times.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Fat fuck.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I want to say he might have said something on
- 36:52Speaker 1: one of our shows. So he has a couple songs
- 36:54Speaker 1: about a show in Phoenix.
- 36:55Speaker 2: He's got two diss records against us. Show in Phoenix 1.
- 36:58Speaker 2: So who's dissing you on those songs? Oh yeah. He's
- 37:00Speaker 2: talking about bag of tricks, cat Felix and me. Okay.
- 37:03Speaker 1: So what happened with you and bizarre and why is
- 37:08Speaker 1: it fuck bizarre?
- 37:09Speaker 2: The best is that he came out with a 12
- 37:11Speaker 2: minute YouTube video three months ago, explaining it in like 60%
- 37:15Speaker 2: of his cap. Okay. Like he super exaggerates the whole situation.
- 37:18Speaker 2: He says he almost died in Phoenix. He almost got killed. Okay.
- 37:21Speaker 2: He didn't almost get killed. Not really. Maybe, but whatever. Um, Man,
- 37:27Speaker 2: he got fried, bailed out the back door without performing.
- 37:30Speaker 1: At a concert?
- 37:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:31Speaker 1: That you booked him at?
- 37:33Speaker 2: Phoenix.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Phoenix. Phoenix the house cat is a dope artist. Bag
- 37:36Speaker 1: of tricks cat. Bag of tricks cat. Well, who's the
- 37:38Speaker 1: house cat? That's the EDM guy.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Bag of tricks cat.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Felix is bag of tricks cat because his grandmother sang
- 37:44Speaker 2: the theme song for Felix the Cat.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay. Yeah, I'm thinking there's a guy named
- 37:48Speaker 1: Felix the House Cat that's an EDM guy.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Whole nother ballgame.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Whole nother ballgame. Okay, so Felix books him.
- 37:53Speaker 2: For a show. So we do a song. We have
- 37:55Speaker 2: a song. Felix and I have a song with Bizarre
- 37:56Speaker 2: called Never Sober. There's a video. You can go look
- 37:59Speaker 2: it up. We did the record with him, and then
- 38:01Speaker 2: he flew out to Detroit and did another record with
- 38:03Speaker 2: him and Swift D and Knieva in Detroit. Got it.
- 38:05Speaker 2: And they shot him some videos. So we were working
- 38:07Speaker 2: with D12 loosely.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Felix was. I wasn't. I'm just supporting my man. Right.
- 38:12Speaker 2: That's my dog. That's my brother. So he wants to
- 38:15Speaker 2: bring him out for his album, A Lease Party. And
- 38:17Speaker 2: I'm like, why? We've already brought him twice. It kind
- 38:20Speaker 2: of sucks. Right. He doesn't sell any tickets.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:24Speaker 2: But he loves working with D12. It's like his shit.
- 38:26Speaker 2: So I'm like, all right, bet. Run it. So he
- 38:28Speaker 2: flies him out. We bring him. We roll the red
- 38:30Speaker 2: carpet out for him, treat him with respect. Get to
- 38:33Speaker 2: the show. We hand him a care package from True Med.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Shout out to True Med and Drip, our sponsor for
- 38:37Speaker 2: the festival. Give him some gas. I'm like, look, take
- 38:40Speaker 2: it easy. You get fried right now, you're not going
- 38:42Speaker 2: to be able to function.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Like, this is really good. Little I know he's popping
- 38:46Speaker 2: perks the whole time. So night runs along and they
- 38:49Speaker 2: start pressing Felix to go on. Now, Grant, what you
- 38:53Speaker 2: got to keep in mind is this is Felix's album
- 38:54Speaker 2: release party. But in the room next door, we have
- 38:56Speaker 2: the Little Wayne Challenge because we're bringing out Little Wayne
- 38:58Speaker 2: to Comerica. OK, so this is a probably there's probably six, seven,
- 39:01Speaker 2: eight hundred people in these clubs just jumping up and down.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Got it.
- 39:04Speaker 2: It's cracking.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Got it.
- 39:06Speaker 2: And he just wants to go on. And I'm like, bro,
- 39:08Speaker 2: you're not going on. It's 10 o'clock. Like smoke your weed. Chill. Right.
- 39:12Speaker 2: We're good. They press Felix. Felix don't buckle. They bail
- 39:17Speaker 2: out the back door without performing.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I look at Felix. I'm like, look, dog. We're good.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Let's finish this night out. We'll get our money back.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Don't trip. On principle, Right. We had to go get
- 39:28Speaker 2: the bread back because I'm not going to let a
- 39:30Speaker 2: bunch of motherfuckers from Detroit come to my city and
- 39:33Speaker 2: punk us. Right. Without getting the bread back or else
- 39:36Speaker 2: that's a bad look for the city. So I just
- 39:38Speaker 2: called him. We went to Denny's. I'm like, look, bro.
- 39:41Speaker 2: I blew him up. I'm like, look, bro, we're going
- 39:43Speaker 2: to get some needed Denny's. You're going to bang my
- 39:45Speaker 2: cash at what you owe us. We'll let you keep
- 39:47Speaker 2: the flights in the hotel. but I want my money
- 39:49Speaker 2: back for your performance. I want it now by the
- 39:52Speaker 2: time I'm done eating. Or if I get done eating
- 39:54Speaker 2: and it's not in my account, we're going to come
- 39:56Speaker 2: to that hotel and I'm going to take it from you.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I said I wasn't threatening. I promised him. I'm like,
- 40:01Speaker 2: this is not a threat. This is a promise. I'm coming. Dude,
- 40:05Speaker 2: the hotels were in our name. Like, we booked them.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 40:08Speaker 2: So, like, it wasn't hard to get into the room.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm going to need my key.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I did.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I went to the front, had the homie go grab
- 40:15Speaker 2: the key, went to the door. Popped it. He screamed
- 40:18Speaker 2: like a bitch.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Got in.
- 40:20Speaker 2: He dropped into the fetal position. Screamed like a girl.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Please help. They're going to kill me. And I just
- 40:26Speaker 2: took the money off the dresser. I counted out what
- 40:28Speaker 2: he owed us. I gave him a swift kick to
- 40:29Speaker 2: the ribs. I threw the rest of it on top
- 40:30Speaker 2: of him. And I'm like, there you go. All you
- 40:32Speaker 2: had to do was rap, bro. And we walked out.
- 40:35Speaker 2: As we walk out, security and the hotel staff is
- 40:38Speaker 2: coming down the hall. And I got a couple of
- 40:40Speaker 2: the homies with me. I'm like, yo, get, get, go
- 40:43Speaker 2: take the stairs. I'm going to handle this. I walk
- 40:46Speaker 2: right up to her, and she starts flexing on me.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Security lady.
- 40:49Speaker 2: No, it was the GM of the hotel.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 40:51Speaker 2: It was an older black woman, and I just spoke
- 40:54Speaker 2: to her with respect. I said, ma'am, I apologize, but
- 40:57Speaker 2: you have a gentleman in your hotel room right now
- 40:59Speaker 2: that is intoxicated and on drugs. I'm afraid he's going
- 41:02Speaker 2: to damage your room. I need you to remove him.
- 41:05Speaker 2: The rooms are in my name, and I gave her
- 41:07Speaker 2: Felix's name. I'm like, I need you to get him
- 41:09Speaker 2: out because I'm afraid he's going to damage your property,
- 41:11Speaker 2: and I don't want to have to pay for that.
- 41:13Speaker 2: And he was in breach of contract, so I had
- 41:15Speaker 2: to collect some funds. Funds are collected. We're going to
- 41:18Speaker 2: go ahead and head out. And she goes, boy, SWAT
- 41:20Speaker 2: is on their way. We have called 911. You need
- 41:24Speaker 2: to go. And I'm just like, bet. I'm out. So, like,
- 41:28Speaker 2: in this, by the grace of God, bro, like, as
- 41:30Speaker 2: we dip out the hotel, Felix is still in the lobby.
- 41:33Speaker 2: But as we dip out the hotel, we get into
- 41:35Speaker 2: the cars, and I swear to God, makes a SWAT. Like,
- 41:37Speaker 2: 12 SWAT cars. SWAT. Fucking boom, boom, boom. They're hopping out. Like,
- 41:41Speaker 2: they called SWAT. And we're sitting in the car just
- 41:44Speaker 2: like watching. And I'm just like, we need to go.
- 41:47Speaker 2: So we did. And that was it.
- 41:49Speaker 1: And so from that, Bizarre made two songs?
- 41:52Speaker 2: Two songs and has done videos and tells everyone about
- 41:56Speaker 2: that story whenever he deals with anybody from Arizona. He's like, oh, yeah,
- 41:59Speaker 2: I don't fuck with Arizona.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he said that to us. Like, I
- 42:03Speaker 1: guess he wasn't an Arizona fan. What year was this then?
- 42:06Speaker 2: Oh, this is like, dude, this is Master P era.
- 42:09Speaker 2: So this is like. When I signed a deal with
- 42:12Speaker 2: No Limits. So I'm talking, like, this is 2016. Okay.
- 42:14Speaker 2: This is 10 years ago. And this video just came
- 42:17Speaker 2: out three months ago.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Has he reached out at all? Have you reached out?
- 42:20Speaker 1: Olive branched it?
- 42:22Speaker 2: Why would I do that?
- 42:22Speaker 1: I don't know. Like, hey, man, if you're going to
- 42:24Speaker 1: tell the story, tell it accurately.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Like, tell the truth. Yeah. Like, he says that he
- 42:28Speaker 2: gave us the money freely in the lobby, which is incorrect.
- 42:32Speaker 2: We popped his hotel door.
- 42:33Speaker 1: To get the money.
- 42:34Speaker 2: And he dropped like a little girl and screamed.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Got it.
- 42:37Speaker 2: And I took the money.
- 42:38Speaker 1: So his... What he's saying is... Hey, I gave him
- 42:41Speaker 1: the money in the lobby, and then I still got
- 42:45Speaker 1: roughed up.
- 42:48Speaker 2: He insinuates. He doesn't tell anybody that he got roughed up.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Got it.
- 42:53Speaker 2: He says that we were there to kill him.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Would Bizarre be able to come to Phoenix on tour
- 42:58Speaker 1: and be okay right now?
- 43:01Speaker 2: I mean, it was 10 years ago, so I don't
- 43:04Speaker 2: know if it's like a pull-up, but maybe just for fun. Okay.
- 43:10Speaker 2: I might pull up and go make him uncomfortable.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Just like buy a ticket to the show?
- 43:15Speaker 2: No.
- 43:15Speaker 1: He's a nice guy.
- 43:16Speaker 2: I go through the back.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I feel like he's like a nice more sober guy.
- 43:19Speaker 2: So this is the thing is he says in the
- 43:20Speaker 2: video everything cool till it's not. Like we really liked Bizarre.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I enjoyed working with him. I introduced him to Odd Squad.
- 43:26Speaker 1: He's a super chill guy. Yeah.
- 43:28Speaker 2: He was a blast to work with until he bailed
- 43:30Speaker 2: out the back.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 43:31Speaker 2: And on principle we had to stand on business.
- 43:33Speaker 1: You gotta do good business.
- 43:34Speaker 2: We had to stand on business.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Also putting the artist who's paying you into a shitty
- 43:38Speaker 1: position because if They look bad if the person.
- 43:41Speaker 2: No one noticed Bizarre wasn't there to do his two verses. Right. Like,
- 43:44Speaker 2: he didn't cost his ticket money. Right, right, right.
- 43:47Speaker 1: People were there to see Felix.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Correct. It was the principle. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:50Speaker 1: That makes sense.
- 43:51Speaker 2: So, God bless him. Wish him the best. Would I
- 43:54Speaker 2: flex on him? If we were in a restaurant and
- 43:56Speaker 2: I seen him and he started mean mugging and he
- 43:59Speaker 2: wanted smoke, then yeah, we'd run it. Okay. But if
- 44:01Speaker 2: he just gave me a nod and like... He'd probably
- 44:04Speaker 2: do it moving.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Because he's still terrified, which I don't understand. There wasn't really...
- 44:08Speaker 2: It wasn't... It wasn't anything worthy of, like, what he
- 44:13Speaker 2: claims it was.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Is there anybody besides the two fuckers you got off?
- 44:17Speaker 1: Any other fuckers you.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Want to get off? Oh, fuck Sincerely Collins. He a bitch, too.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Jesus Christ.
- 44:22Speaker 2: He not in the city no more.
- 44:23Speaker 1: He left?
- 44:24Speaker 2: Yeah. I heard he got ran up on and had
- 44:27Speaker 2: to leave.
- 44:28Speaker 1: You know, I used to work with Collins.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I know you did. I was in his video on
- 44:34Speaker 2: the South Side, and you called me the Obama of
- 44:36Speaker 2: Arizona hip-hop to Jadakiss.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that was at the Made for This shit.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Yep, with Jadakiss. It was amazing.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Honey Badger.
- 44:43Speaker 2: On fucking Seathug's block, on Rico's block.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Why do you guys have beef?
- 44:48Speaker 2: I don't want to talk about that, but rumor has
- 44:51Speaker 2: it some guy in a ski mask caught him in
- 44:53Speaker 2: a parking lot going into a radio interview, and now
- 44:56Speaker 2: he lives in Oklahoma, and he'll never be back.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Dang. I haven't talked to Collins. I think that we're
- 45:03Speaker 1: in like a place where we could talk again.
- 45:06Speaker 2: But why would you?
- 45:08Speaker 1: I don't know, because we have a history.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but if all you share is the past, what's
- 45:12Speaker 2: the point?
- 45:13Speaker 1: It's fair. But I'm saying like, if Collins called me tomorrow,
- 45:15Speaker 1: I'd pick the phone up and we would have a
- 45:18Speaker 1: very overdue conversation.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Well, maybe he will because of this interview, but he's
- 45:23Speaker 2: a bitch and if I see him, it's up.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Yeah, my whole issue with Collins, I guess it was
- 45:28Speaker 1: just really just like I just felt like we poured,
- 45:31Speaker 1: I poured a lot into him, you know.
- 45:32Speaker 2: You gave that man everything and when it came time
- 45:35Speaker 2: to bear the fruits of your labor, I just poured
- 45:38Speaker 2: a lot into him. He poured it sincerely.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I poured a lot into him.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Oh man, I watched what you did with his career.
- 45:43Speaker 2: You took him from sleeping on couches to the number
- 45:45Speaker 2: one record in the city in radio rotation and deals
- 45:48Speaker 2: on the table.
- 45:49Speaker 1: I mean, look, he is a talented kid.
- 45:50Speaker 2: One of the most amazing songwriters I've ever met.
- 45:52Speaker 1: He's incredible.
- 45:52Speaker 2: He's still a fucking weirdo.
- 45:54Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I mean, but yeah.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Hopefully his chakras are aligned.
- 45:57Speaker 1: I think eventually we'll, uh, I mean, if I saw
- 46:00Speaker 1: him today, I'd give him a hug and talk.
- 46:01Speaker 2: To him, you know? Yeah, I wouldn't. I'd run it. Fair. No,
- 46:06Speaker 2: he owes me a fade.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Hey, man, you are Mr. Run the Fade.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Taking all fades.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Taking all fades. T-A-F.
- 46:13Speaker 2: C-T-L-T-A-F.
