- 0:01Romans chapter 3 Let us pray, our Father, who is in heaven,
- 0:19holy, your name, your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth
- 0:38just as it is in heaven. Give us this day Our Daily
- 0:46Bread. Forgive us for our trespasses as
- 0:55we forgive those who trespass against us.
- 1:03Lead us not into temptation. Deliver us from the evil. 1 For
- 1:19yours is the Kingdom, power and the glory forever.
- 1:37Blessed be the name of our God. We love you Jesus Christ, holy
- 1:44and precious name I pray, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 1:51What advantage then has the Jew or what prophet is there of
- 1:56circum decision? So Paul is going to make sure
- 2:00that he buttons up the last chapter when he was sounding as
- 2:06if there was no advantage to being a Jew, that it was no
- 2:11advantage to be circumcised. And we know that Paul here must
- 2:17come back full circle and to stake his claim to make sure
- 2:21that we understand that God's heart is for the Jews.
- 2:26They were trusted with the word of God.
- 2:29The Messiah came through. God has an eternal plan for
- 2:34them, friends, He's not turned his back on them, and they've
- 2:37not been dissolved into the church too much every way,
- 2:44chiefly because that unto them were committed the oracles of
- 2:51God. God gave them his divine library
- 2:55for them to house and to hold and to preserve for all time's
- 2:59sake, and heaven and earth shall pass away, but not one of his
- 3:03words. This spoken word the Rhema
- 3:06friends, and they are blessed because he chose them to steward
- 3:12all of his spoken words for all of humanity. 3 For what if some
- 3:21did not believe? Shall their unbelief make the
- 3:24faith of God without effect? It's ridiculous and preposterous
- 3:30to think that because we try to say there is no God, somehow
- 3:35that tears him down or makes him marginalized.
- 3:40Just because someone does not obey the faith does not at all
- 3:45in any way, shape or form, no facet, diminish the power of
- 3:50God. For God forbid, yeah, let God be
- 3:58true, but every man a liar, as it is written that you might be
- 4:05justified in your sayings and might overcome when you are
- 4:10judged. So here God is showing us that
- 4:15He is the only truth, that every single man who has ever been
- 4:21born, is living or will be born is a liar, friends.
- 4:26And that is the importance of searching the Scriptures.
- 4:31And don't take my word for it, just take a look.
- 4:34It's in the book, Friends. From Genesis to Revelation is
- 4:39the only truth that is in the entire world, period.
- 4:44Jesus Christ is the truth and that every other thing that is
- 4:51said by man is just an opinion, friends.
- 4:55And that is why we need to be like the Bereans and we need to
- 4:58search the scriptures. Be students of the word of God.
- 5:04Don't just be those that TuneIn to podcasts.
- 5:07Don't just be those that TuneIn to little short videos.
- 5:12Do not just be those that try to get their theology from someone
- 5:17else. You will be LED astray. 5 But if
- 5:23our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall
- 5:28we say? Is God unrighteous who takes
- 5:34vengeance? I speak as a man.
- 5:36So here he's pointing us back to the Assyrians and the
- 5:41Babylonians and Judas. He's pointing us back to many
- 5:46who will try to stand at the great white throne and say, but
- 5:51God, you used my evil intentions to do great things.
- 5:56And that is no excuse at all. Friends, He can use it without
- 6:02excusing it, because God is omnipotent, it does not excuse
- 6:08your evil heart and intentions. 6 God forbid, for then how shall
- 6:18God judge the world? So that is the reason that God
- 6:22put the serpent in the garden, and the tree of good, of the
- 6:26knowledge of good and evil, is because it brings him the most
- 6:29amount of glory. And all the serpent does is
- 6:34reveal the evil intentions of man, and that is a divine
- 6:39mystery. And this calls for wisdom. 7 For
- 6:45if the truth of God has more abounded through my lie unto his
- 6:51glory, why yet am I also judged as a Sinner?
- 6:55It's preposterous, ridiculous When we try to come to God and
- 6:59tell him how he ought to behave. We're not going to stand before
- 7:03him one day and say, I'm a good person, you can't send me to
- 7:07hell. I'm We are not going to stand
- 7:09before God one day and said, yes, but my evil intentions
- 7:14somehow brought you lots of glory.
- 7:16It doesn't work that way. 8 And not rather, as we be
- 7:21slanderously reported, and as some affirm, that we say, let us
- 7:27do evil, that good may come, whose damnation is just.
- 7:33He's saying those that are damned to hell because they
- 7:37think that by their folly and lies and by their abomination,
- 7:45somehow God is glorified. It does not work that way. 9
- 7:51What then? Are we better than they?
- 7:55No, in no way, for we have been proved by we have been proved
- 8:02both Jews and Gentiles that they are all under sin.
- 8:10That is the desperate need that we have for Jesus Christ and for
- 8:15the atonement so we can be at one with God.
- 8:18Justified. So we can be justified.
- 8:21Never done it. That is why we need to be
- 8:23covered in the blood of Jesus Christ and not resting on
- 8:27Grandma's faith. Friends 10 As it is written,
- 8:32there is none righteous, no, not one.
- 8:35So he's going to wax eloquently and he's going to talk about
- 8:39Ecclesiastes, lots of Psalms, the book of Isaiah here, and
- 8:44he's going to paint a masterpiece to show us how
- 8:49incredibly debased we are apart from Jesus Christ in the
- 8:53covering of his righteousness. Not one person can claim their
- 9:03own self righteousness. 11 There is none that understands, there
- 9:08is none that seek after God. We can't even come to God unless
- 9:14he draws us to Himself. 12 They are all gone out of the way.
- 9:21They are together, become unprofitable.
- 9:25There is none that does good. No, not one.
- 9:30When we leave the way, which is Jesus, when we leave the way, it
- 9:37is nothing but sin and sickness, death, disease and decay, and we
- 9:44cannot save ourselves. 13 Their throat is an open tomb, their
- 9:51tongues they have used deceit. The poison of ASPs is under
- 9:58their lips 14 whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness
- 10:0515. Their feet are swift to shed
- 10:08blood, 16. Destruction and misery are in
- 10:13their ways, 17 and the way of peace have they not known?
- 10:1918 There is No Fear of God before their eyes.
- 10:24Look, look at this X-ray that has been given on the body to
- 10:29show us that we are corrupt and vile people apart from the
- 10:35holiness of Jesus Christ. 19 Now we know that what things so ever
- 10:45the law says, it says to them who are under the law, that
- 10:51every mouth may be stopped in all the world, may become guilty
- 10:57before God. That is our need for the Lord
- 11:02Jesus Christ, because we are guilty and we are condemned and
- 11:10we are deserving of hell. Thank God we don't get what we
- 11:16deserve. Friends, thank God that our only
- 11:22merit is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and Christ alone. 20
- 11:32Therefore, by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be
- 11:37justified in his sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
- 11:42That's all the law ever did, Friends, is show us our need for
- 11:47a Savior. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the
- 11:53Law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the
- 11:58prophets. So we can see that Christ alone
- 12:05is the only remedy for our sins. It is justification by faith in
- 12:12Christ crucified. And we can see here that we have
- 12:20no excuse. We cannot try to enter in by our
- 12:25own. We must come through the sheep
- 12:29gate, and he is the Good Shepherd. 22 Even the
- 12:32righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto
- 12:37all and upon all them that believe, For there is no
- 12:41difference. So he's saying, just because
- 12:43you're a Jew, it does not mean that through the lineage of
- 12:47Abraham you're going to make it there.
- 12:49You must come through Jesus. 23 For all have sinned and come
- 12:53short of the glory of God. We cannot boast in our works.
- 12:59We cannot say that we were good enough to get there.
- 13:02We cannot all have fallen short. There's never been one person
- 13:09apart from Jesus Christ that lived a perfect life and a
- 13:13sinless life. We've all fallen short. 24 being
- 13:19justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is
- 13:26in Christ Jesus. Thank God for this free gift
- 13:30that Jesus Christ offers us, friends, and we must by faith
- 13:35take it, and we must by faith get covered in the blood, so
- 13:40that we can be justified. 25 whom God has set forth to be a
- 13:47propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his
- 13:53righteousness for the remission of sins that are passed through
- 13:58the forbearance of God. So God was well pleased to
- 14:03accept Jesus Christ as our penalty.
- 14:08We owed A sinners debt that we could never pay back, and it is
- 14:12only by the blood of Jesus Christ that we can be made right
- 14:16with God and that we're going to enter in to the presence of a
- 14:20holy God. Friends, when you stand before
- 14:23God one day, He's only going to see you one of two ways.
- 14:28He is either going to see the blood of Jesus Christ covering
- 14:32you from the top of your head to the soles of your feet, and he's
- 14:35going to say, well done, good and faithful servant, come in to
- 14:39the rest that I have prepared for you.
- 14:42Come in to all of eternity in my presence or for those who refuse
- 14:48Jesus Christ, but they live a good life and they give all
- 14:51their money away and they do all of the humanitarian efforts and
- 14:55they, they cast out demons in his name.
- 14:59And they are going and they're working out of their own flesh,
- 15:04friends. And they are doing miracles in
- 15:07his name and prophesying in his name.
- 15:10He's going to say, depart from me because they were never
- 15:13covered in the blood of Jesus Christ.
- 15:15Even those who think of themselves as white as snow, but
- 15:19they have hidden sin that they have not put under the blood of
- 15:22Christ. They will be eternally separated
- 15:25from God Almighty. And there is no third option
- 15:29here, friends. It is the forbearance of God
- 15:35that allows you to wake up this morning.
- 15:37And His mercies are new every day.
- 15:39Surrender wholeheartedly to Him today.
- 15:42Don't wait another day, friends. Today is the day of salvation.
- 15:52It is this long-suffering of God that allows you to have another
- 15:59moment to make a decision for Christ.
- 16:06Do not blasphemy the Holy Spirit as He is calling you today. 26
- 16:17To declare, I say at this time His righteousness, that He might
- 16:25be just and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus.
- 16:32That is the only way, Friends, you cannot outpace God and you
- 16:39cannot try to get around the fact of the matter of the whole
- 16:44crux of the whole situation, that it is Jesus and Jesus and
- 16:51Jesus alone who gets us there. Don't try to explain Him away.
- 16:58Don't try to say Jesus plus anything.
- 17:03He is the justifier. He is our righteousness.
- 17:08Today is the day of salvation. This is the day of salvation,
- 17:13friends. This is the generation who seeks
- 17:16your face, O Jacob 27 Where is boasting?
- 17:20Then it is excluded by what law of of works?
- 17:28No, but by the law of faith. We cannot boast in all of the
- 17:36things that we do. There are many who lose their
- 17:40rewards, even if they're accurately positioned with the
- 17:43Lord Jesus Christ. They do not understand that by
- 17:46boasting they've lost their reward.
- 17:49And those that boast that they're good people are liars,
- 17:56and there's none that do good. And every man desperately needs
- 18:08Jesus Christ. It is by the law of faith,
- 18:12friends, Jesus did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill
- 18:18it. And the law only pointed us to
- 18:20the need of a Savior. 28 Therefore, we conclude that a
- 18:28man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
- 18:37This does not contradict James. James is just telling us that
- 18:44the natural overflow of a man sold out to the Lord Jesus
- 18:50Christ will show us outwardly that he is a redeemed man. 29 Is
- 19:00he the God of the Jews only? Is he also?
- 19:05Is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also.
- 19:13There's this movement right now that's going on in our day, in
- 19:17our age, and it's not new. It happened even during the days
- 19:22of Reformation where Christians start to persecute Jews.
- 19:28Far be it from us to ever be the ones to persecute anybody,
- 19:35period, much less God's chosen people.
- 19:41We need to see here in verse 29 that God is the God of the Jews
- 19:46and of the Gentiles, period 30 seeing it is one God which shall
- 19:54justify the circumcision by faith and uncircumcision through
- 20:01faith. So he's saying that once Jesus
- 20:06Christ arrived on the scene, everything changed and God did a
- 20:10new thing, friends. And cutting off of the foreskin
- 20:14and having the temple. And having all the oracles never
- 20:19amounted to anything. When we miss the mark, that
- 20:22Jesus is the epitome, He's the paramount, He's the climax, He's
- 20:28what all the law and the prophets pointed towards, and He
- 20:31is what all the epistles point back towards.
- 20:35And we are pressing towards Jesus Christ and Jesus alone. 31
- 20:43Do we then make void the law through faith?
- 20:47God forbid, Yeah, we establish the law.
- 20:56So once again, divine counsel calling, deep calls to deep
- 21:01here, friends. And all of that is just wrapped
- 21:05up in one little thought. Jesus did not come to abolish
- 21:10the law, but to fulfill it. And he didn't just take it and
- 21:14throw it out, friends, He actually expounded upon it.
- 21:20He didn't just give us the law and say, OK, I completed it,
- 21:25you're all good, good to go. He said, follow the law plus the
- 21:31things that I teach you. And it is, this is not hard.
- 21:35His yoke is easy. His burden is light.
- 21:40And the regenerate man, the man who's been born again, friends,
- 21:44it is effortlessly locking eyes with Jesus Christ and allowing
- 21:51him to fuel us and to give us his mind.
- 21:54And when we walk in the Spirit, we will not satisfy the lust of
- 21:58the flesh. We can stiff arm the lust of the
- 22:03eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life that so tries
- 22:09to entangle and ensnare us friends and choke out the
- 22:14fruitfulness of God. Let's stay rooted and grounded
- 22:19and let's stay connected and abide friends in him and him and
- 22:25us and produce much fruit. Tell somebody about Jesus today
- 22:30and what he's done for you. Hope you've been blessed by this
- 22:34chapter. No, I sure have.
- 22:41Praying for you. I love you.
- 22:46I'll see you back here tomorrow. God bless you.
