The strategic depth of recognizing Somaliland
Israel’s recognition of Somaliland has a mutuality of interests. For Somaliland it’s important diplomatic recognition and for Israel it could provide strategic depth in the conflict with Iran and Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen. This according to Gerald Steinberg, a professor emeritus of political science from Bar Illan University.
