[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguars fans welcome back to do Vol.
• 0:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Daily presented by Jim Jag.com Friday, October 9th.
• 0:07
[SPEAKER_00]: We have got our Jaguars and Eagles game preview here for you.
• 0:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Excited to get into it.
• 0:13
[SPEAKER_00]: A really fascinating matchup for a number of reasons that we're gonna get into here today, but yes, we are on our
• 0:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Last port of our cruise here, we're in Portland, Maine, back in the US, which is always exciting.
• 0:27
[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars, however, are over in London right now, getting ready for a big football game against the Eagles.
• 0:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be back home tomorrow, be back home in time to watch the game at home and then
• 0:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Setin' off for London later in the week to watch the Jaguar's take on the Texans in London.
• 0:45
[SPEAKER_00]: So, just a little scheduling update for myself there, but looking at this game, Jaguar is in Eagles.
• 0:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Land of Dickerson, one of the best interior offensive linemen in football, he's been out.
• 0:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Lane Johnson retired for the Eagles.
• 1:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Cam Giurgens traded for the Eagles.
• 1:05
[SPEAKER_00]: No Jeff Statlin, legendary offensive line coach.
• 1:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Drew Kindle has not practiced this week.
• 1:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Another interior offensive linemen for the Eagles.
• 1:14
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a wildly different Eagles offensive line and offense than what folks have become accustomed to seeing over the last several years.
• 1:24
[SPEAKER_00]: No AJ Brown, not walking through that door.
• 1:27
[SPEAKER_00]: AJ Brown's not playing football for anybody right now is still on an injured reserve with the Patriots over there.
• 1:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Devante Smith steps into your number one role.
• 1:37
[SPEAKER_00]: He's now dealing with a hamstring injury.
• 1:40
[SPEAKER_00]: He has not practiced this week.
• 1:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Sake one, Barclay has not practiced this week.
• 1:45
[SPEAKER_00]: He's expected to miss this week with a hamstring injury.
• 1:48
[SPEAKER_00]: His backup tank bigs beat.
• 1:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that tank bigs beat is also on injured reserve.
• 1:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Jonathan Grinart, a very good starting head pressure.
• 2:00
[SPEAKER_00]: has not practiced this week.
• 2:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Mark is up, a starting safety, has not practiced this week.
• 2:06
[SPEAKER_00]: This is not the Eagle's team everyone has known over the past several years.
• 2:11
[SPEAKER_00]: It isn't the Eagle's team you expected to see at the beginning of this season.
• 2:15
[SPEAKER_00]: And heck, it is not the Eagle's team you expected to see just a couple weeks ago.
• 2:19
[SPEAKER_00]: This has been a wild ride
• 2:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Now for the Jaguar as the one injury really to monitor right now is Eric Murray Jaguar starting safety who was in concussion protocol but did practice with the team in a limited fashion on Thursday.
• 2:40
[SPEAKER_00]: If he cannot go in this game, safety depth will be tested.
• 2:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Branson is your safety three currently.
• 2:48
[SPEAKER_00]: It was getting a decent amount of run.
• 2:51
  [SPEAKER_00]: He just hit IR.
• 2:53
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you have no Eric Murray, who's a top two safety for you, you don't have your third safety, then you're talking about seeing more around Lane who played a good bit against the Bengals and did some decent things.
• 3:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the game's ceiling tackle at the end.
• 3:09
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you also have Jalen Husky with the Jaguars that are excited about.
• 3:12
[SPEAKER_00]: fiery player, young player, third round pick this year.
• 3:16
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, if Eric Murray cannot go, the Jaguar safety depth will be tested in a very big way.
• 3:23
[SPEAKER_00]: The Eagles, they're flying in later today, they're leaving Friday evening, landing Saturday morning in London.
• 3:30
[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's flew in Thursday, will that matter?
• 3:34
  [SPEAKER_00]: Very interesting.
• 3:35
[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are obviously having this game on Sunday
• 3:44
[SPEAKER_00]: the Eagles and then they got the Texans.
• 3:48
[SPEAKER_00]: There's been a lot of talk over the years about, you know, slight schedule, you know jet lag, all these different things.
• 3:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not an expert on a name that will it matter?
• 4:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Something that people will probably talk about either way if the Eagles go out there and they look that old way didn't have enough time to adjust.
• 4:10
  [SPEAKER_00]: If the Jaguars
• 4:13
[SPEAKER_00]: don't play their best football, then people will complain about the Jaguars flying in earlier than the Eagles know-down.
• 4:18
[SPEAKER_00]: So, we'll just have to see.
• 4:22
[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars, and I will say this, should hear from Liam Cohen later today, and might be able to get some information from him about how he thinks the team is responding to,
• 4:40
[SPEAKER_00]: the flight and everything, so that'll be something to monitor.
• 4:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Like leading up to the Broncos game, he was honest about the team not having the best couple practices.
• 4:50
[SPEAKER_00]: He said they had a great practice Wednesday, Thursday, and then so, yeah.
• 4:55
[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars, they are huge seven and a half point favorites in this one.
• 4:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, seven and a half point favorites, Philadelphia Eagles, that is not way too expected, even just a couple weeks ago.
• 5:09
[SPEAKER_00]: The Eagles' offense, though, beyond the injuries, the trades, the retirement, the offense has struggled to start the season, new offensive coordinator.
• 5:21
[SPEAKER_00]: They have averaged only 18.8 points per game.
• 5:24
[SPEAKER_00]: The defense has been middle of the pack, which is a far cry from what they normally are.
• 5:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the Eagles, you normally expect a heavy dose of Sake One Barclay, a really good run scheme
• 5:40
[SPEAKER_00]: you expect the defense to be top flight, but neither side of the ball has been what you expect.
• 5:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I still think though, the Eagle's defense is the side that still looks like it has teeth at the moment, right?
• 5:54
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have as many devastating injuries as the offense does.
• 5:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Big fan geo isn't a elite defense of coordinator and game planner.
• 6:04
[SPEAKER_00]: He can be a game plan defense of coordinator.
• 6:07
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, Jaguar's own defense according to Anthony Campanilla, he learned a lot, coaching under Vick Vangio for a while.
• 6:14
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's definitely a little kind of like mentor, you know, master and apprentice type of battle there with those guys.
• 6:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously they're not going against each other, but like who can get the better of the opposing offense.
• 6:27
[SPEAKER_00]: But even though the Eagles' defense hasn't been what they probably expect, they still have great players at every level.
• 6:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Carter hasn't been at his best so far this year, but that is just one of the most impressive talent, you know, game records on the interior of the defense of line in the NFL Jordan Davis
• 6:51
[SPEAKER_00]: absolute, absolute giant in the middle, more of a gemmo, probably one of the more underrated under talked about interior defensive linemen past rest types who can also play the run, I would love to see him in teal.
• 7:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Nolan Smith, very good Georgia Bulldog, undersized Eddresher, but, uh,
• 7:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Places, but off-place, strong, good football player.
• 7:13
[SPEAKER_00]: J-Lix Hunt is explosive, edge-rusher, Zach Bonne, on the second level, is still one of the better line-backers in football.
• 7:20
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see if J-Hod Campbell can play.
• 7:22
[SPEAKER_00]: He's a very versatile weapon that they can kind of deploy in a lot of different ways at the second level.
• 7:27
[SPEAKER_00]: You still got Quinion Mitchell Cooper-Digine Requel and doesn't look like you're going to have Marcus Aps, Reed-Pling and Chip is in Houston, but there's still a lot of talent and a very, very good.
• 7:39
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, play caller to try to weaponize that talent against the jag war's offense in this game.
• 7:46
  [SPEAKER_00]: Meanwhile,
• 7:47
  [SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars, they're performing like a top 10 offense.
• 7:50
[SPEAKER_00]: I think statistically in a lot of the categories, they're right outside the top 10, but had you not call it off the dogs in two of your four games so far.
• 7:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're probably looking at a top 10 offense in a lot of regards.
• 8:02
  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they're performing as a top 5 defense as well.
• 8:06
[SPEAKER_00]: On the offensive side of the ball, the Jaguars are running it well.
• 8:09
[SPEAKER_00]: They're throwing it well, and while the offensive line has had some ups and downs I think is fair to say, they've done enough to provide an infrastructure that Trevor Lawrence.
• 8:19
[SPEAKER_00]: throwing the football, racial tutan, running the football, and play collar, flash head coach, Liam Cohen, can work with, right?
• 8:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's still room for improvement.
• 8:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that the offensive line is what it is.
• 8:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I think like Colvin, Lannon, working back from injury, playing right tackle, he continued to ascend.
• 8:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Anton Harris and can play better football than what you've seen just on a consistency basis from him so far this year.
• 8:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Emmanuel Pregnon will continue to improve.
• 8:48
[SPEAKER_00]: There's reason to believe that this can improve, but it's a huge test against a really, really talented Eagles defensive front and on the defensive side of the ball, the Jaguars, they've added more wrinkles with more man coverage, which is leading to more sacks.
• 9:05
[SPEAKER_00]: They're top 10 in the NFL in sacks this year, which is a huge development for them.
• 9:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter is playing just fantastic football
• 9:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's playing physical football.
• 9:22
[SPEAKER_00]: When teams test him, he's getting his hands on the ball a lot.
• 9:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Now there's been some things that got called back.
• 9:29
[SPEAKER_00]: There's been some catches he didn't make, but he is getting his hands on the ball.
• 9:33
[SPEAKER_00]: He's playing great ball for the Jaguar as a corner, making everything a little bit easier for the defense.
• 9:39
  [SPEAKER_00]: They're stopping the run.
• 9:41
[SPEAKER_00]: enforcing turnovers the same way they did in 2025 so those are the kind of things you expect of the Jaguar's defense to be able to do and they are doing that while also adding the more man coverage getting more pressures and sacks and Travis Hunter.
• 9:56
[SPEAKER_00]: being a just amazing addition to the secondary.
• 10:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Festings is humming right along, you know, the kick coverage was a little bit worrisome in preseason and early on in the season, but I think that that's improved.
• 10:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Cam Little is kicking it smoothly.
• 10:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Logan Cook is kicking it well.
• 10:11
[SPEAKER_00]: The coverage unit's doing a good job.
• 10:13
[SPEAKER_00]: So the jag wars are just kind of humming right along right now at, you know, three and one.
• 10:20
[SPEAKER_00]: feeling good about themselves, but you can't feel too good about yourself in this league.
• 10:25
  [SPEAKER_00]: You cannot.
• 10:26
[SPEAKER_00]: The odds suggest a blowout in this game again Jaguar 7.5 point favorites, but playing in London can be an equalizer of sorts, no doubt about it, and still even with the injuries that
• 10:38
[SPEAKER_00]: The Eagles have, you know, two most important offensive weapons, you lose, play in Johnson, you trade cam, dragons, lane in Dickerson out, Drew Candle hasn't been practicing.
• 10:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Hurts, he's really struggling to his stride in this new offense, it does make sense that the Jaguars are favored.
• 10:59
[SPEAKER_00]: As soon as you feel like we got this, and I'm not saying from a fan base perspective, I'm saying inside the locker room, within the team, that's when you can start to see some problems.
• 11:07
[SPEAKER_00]: So they gotta keep that same edge that they've had for most of the time, Liam Cohen's been here.
• 11:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And if they do, I think that they can have a successful trip to London, you look at the quarterback's jail and hurts.
• 11:19
[SPEAKER_00]: really struggling in this offense.
• 11:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Currently averaging less than 6.3 yards per attempt.
• 11:27
  [SPEAKER_00]: 6.3 yards per attempt.
• 11:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Compared to Lawrence averaging 8.1 is a massive gulf.
• 11:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Kurt is completing less than 60% of his passes.
• 11:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Lawrence is completing 69% of his passes.
• 11:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And you have Jalan Hertz with a quarterback rating, and maybe 87.4, Trevor Lawrence at 1-11.
• 11:49
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a big, and it's not just all the quarterback, it's the infrastructure, it's everything around them, right?
• 11:54
[SPEAKER_00]: The bottom line is the Eagles passing attack has not felt as good as it has been at its best over the last half decade or so.
• 12:03
[SPEAKER_00]: While the Jaguar's passing attack is operating in a very high level, the running attack is operating in a very high level.
• 12:11
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, the Jaguar simply are not without their top runner, they're not without their top receiver.
• 12:20
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't lose a top-wide receiver in free agency, right?
• 12:24
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, or via trade, I don't even remember, was Azure Brown traded or was it free agency?
• 12:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was traded, right?
• 12:35
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they traded them.
• 12:37
  [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah,
• 12:39
[SPEAKER_00]: The the Eagles are just such a different team than what you expected going into the game.
• 12:44
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's going to be a fun one.
• 12:46
  [SPEAKER_00]: 930 a.m. Eastern Tom Sunday.
• 12:50
  [SPEAKER_00]: Prim Tom.
• 12:53
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no other game on.
• 12:54
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to be tuned in.
