- 0:03Speaker 1: Today in Phoenix, Turning Point USA, is annual gathering of
- 0:06Speaker 1: young conservatives wraps up as the headline has been the
- 0:09Speaker 1: frequent and bitter clashing of right wing titans over the
- 0:13Speaker 1: direction of the movement. Meanwhile, attendees told us what President
- 0:17Speaker 1: Trump's New Year's resolution should be.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I believe he should, you know, long to like full
- 0:26Speaker 2: that of a better calm, keep his mouth shut, be
- 0:29Speaker 2: more presidential.
- 0:30Speaker 3: If the economy goes bad, you know, you could very
- 0:34Speaker 3: much see him losing twenty twenty six or twenty eight, right,
- 0:38Speaker 3: So the resolution is rethinker terra policy.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Maybe yeah, I don't know if it doesn't work, right,
- 0:43Speaker 1: So he's been reversing a lot of that stuff since
- 0:46Speaker 1: you rolled it out. It's the economy is a serious issued, right,
- 0:51Speaker 1: So if the economy goes bad, you know, you.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Could totally you can totally see AOC gets the residency.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Well, Don Calloway, Jenna Arnold, and Susan Dell Percio are
- 1:01Speaker 1: back with me. So, Susan, we're going to get to
- 1:02Speaker 1: twenty twenty eight in just a moment. But did this
- 1:05Speaker 1: conference put on the display the internal battle MAGA will
- 1:09Speaker 1: have going forward?
- 1:12Speaker 3: Not to I don't think it has alex What I
- 1:14Speaker 3: think it really displayed is the battle for market share
- 1:18Speaker 3: because everyone knows there's a lot of money involved in MAGA,
- 1:22Speaker 3: and whoever wants to claim a certain slice of it
- 1:25Speaker 3: is out there now trying to get their audience, and
- 1:28Speaker 3: this is a perfect place to do it. So I
- 1:30Speaker 3: think there are things that we could look at within MAGA.
- 1:34Speaker 3: You know, i'm elected officials and what they're doing in
- 1:37Speaker 3: Washington and breaking from the president a little bit. But
- 1:39Speaker 3: when you look at Turning Point, I see a big
- 1:42Speaker 3: fight for viewers and subscribers.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So Dawn, that last attendee said that Alexandra Ocasio Cortez
- 1:52Speaker 1: could be president if there is some course correction on
- 1:54Speaker 1: economic issues. And this comes as we heard the congresswoman
- 1:58Speaker 1: respond to a poll which has been verified by ms NOW,
- 2:02Speaker 1: but it says today it gives her a slim edge
- 2:05Speaker 1: over Vice President Jade Vance. And here's her reaction to it.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Listen, these bulls like three years out, are you know
- 2:14Speaker 3: who they are? What they are? But let the record show.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I was tom him.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I was tom him.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Your thoughts on that, I mean, will she should she run?
- 2:28Speaker 4: You know, I don't know who should be the Democratic
- 2:30Speaker 4: nominee for president in twenty twenty eight. I am far
- 2:33Speaker 4: less invested in the horse race. I'm far more invested
- 2:36Speaker 4: in the structural infrastructure of voting, voter protection specifically. But
- 2:41Speaker 4: you know, in a universe where there are probably ten
- 2:43Speaker 4: people who could viably pursue the Democratic nomination, Alexandria Ocasio
- 2:48Speaker 4: Cortez is absolutely one of them. She has matured dramatically
- 2:53Speaker 4: and significantly. She is a substantive and intelligent lawmaker, and
- 2:56Speaker 4: I happen to believe that she will be a viable
- 3:00Speaker 4: threat to win the Democratic nomination. Now, will she beat
- 3:04Speaker 4: jd Vance. I'll call me Team AOC if that happens,
- 3:08Speaker 4: and I would do my best to help her win
- 3:11Speaker 4: the presidency if she were the Democratic nomination nominee. But
- 3:14Speaker 4: at the end of the day, this country has yet
- 3:16Speaker 4: to elect qualified and competent women. So it's very, very
- 3:20Speaker 4: hard to see that she would be the victor. But
- 3:23Speaker 4: if she would, it would be a proud day for
- 3:24Speaker 4: this country.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Jenna, we have new data showing twenty twenty eight is
- 3:29Speaker 1: already on some people's minds, and when asked how much
- 3:32Speaker 1: thought they've given to the next presidential election, fifty percent
- 3:35Speaker 1: said they've given a lot or some thought, but sixty
- 3:38Speaker 1: seven percent don't have a specific candidate in mind yet
- 3:42Speaker 1: even so, is the groundwork already being laid?
- 3:46Speaker 2: Alex, I actually think that's a really great percentage. I
- 3:50Speaker 2: agree with Don and echo Susan sentiments about Turning Point
- 3:54Speaker 2: USA and all of their power grabbing, their only shared
- 3:58Speaker 2: ethicts is really revolving around shared enemies. It is careerism
- 4:04Speaker 2: dressed up as conviction. They will continue to implode. But
- 4:08Speaker 2: to Don's point, what Turning Point USA is doing very
- 4:12Speaker 2: well is organizing. And while they might not be organizing
- 4:15Speaker 2: around a specific message, they have emails, they have chapter
- 4:19Speaker 2: counts that seem to be going up pretty consistently. And
- 4:22Speaker 2: one of the takeaways, at least for me in Bucks County, Pennsylvania,
- 4:25Speaker 2: the through line from Philadelphia up to one of the
- 4:28Speaker 2: swingyest counties in the country down six to eleven, is
- 4:32Speaker 2: that there was no pre term organizing. And let this
- 4:38Speaker 2: be a message loud and clear to the base of
- 4:40Speaker 2: folks that are interested in making sure that the Dems
- 4:43Speaker 2: get both the midterms and the presidential that we have
- 4:47Speaker 2: to start organizing now and we don't need a party
- 4:50Speaker 2: to do that.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Around let me ask you guys the same question, go
- 4:54Speaker 1: around the table. I'll start with you, Susan on the
- 4:56Speaker 1: GOP side for twenty twenty eight, Is it jd like
- 5:00Speaker 1: the Vanity fair piece the moniker under his photo in
- 5:03Speaker 1: the magazine that said the air apparent and that's apparently
- 5:07Speaker 1: what he's called around the White House? Is that true, Susan?
- 5:11Speaker 3: Well, yes, because any vice president is typically viewed as
- 5:15Speaker 3: the heir apparent after a second term of the president.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Kamala Harris was viewed that way before she had to
- 5:23Speaker 3: become the nominee so quickly in twenty twenty more. But
- 5:27Speaker 3: you know again, do you really want the front runner
- 5:30Speaker 3: status this early out?
- 5:33Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 5:33Speaker 1: So this early Jenna you think? Is it jd Vance?
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think that makes sense. I can't think of another
- 5:39Speaker 2: name that makes that is as malleable or as willing
- 5:42Speaker 2: to bend to the mouses as somebody like him.
- 5:46Speaker 1: But I'm with Don.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I would be very excited, very excited about that matchup,
- 5:51Speaker 2: and I'd be tam Aos all the way.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Okay, last word on the GOP side to you, Don
- 5:56Speaker 1: jd Vance.
- 5:57Speaker 4: He is clearly the choice of the oligarchic billiy in
- 6:00Speaker 4: their class, who has found favor with the Trump administration
- 6:03Speaker 4: and will try to figure out a way to install
- 6:07Speaker 4: him as president, just like they did for the second
- 6:09Speaker 4: Trump administration.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Okay, Don and Jenna and Susan, thank you guys so much.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Always good to see you. I hope you're celebrating holidays
- 6:16Speaker 1: this week in fine fashion.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Thank you.
