- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. So glad you're joining us again. Lucas: We've spent a lot of time at the park lately — feeding ducks, describing trees, flowers, squirrels. Luna: Right, but we never actually described the ducks themselves! We just fed them bread. Lucas: That's true. So today, let's focus on the duck. First phrase: L'anatra è bianca. Luna: L'anatra è bianca. Means 'the duck is white'? Lucas: Exactly. L'anatra is the duck. Bianca means white. Let's say it together: L'anatra è bianca. Luna: L'anatra è bianca. I love that — it's simple. Lucas: Now, what does a duck do in the water? It swims. So: L'anatra nuota. Luna: L'anatra nuota. Nuota is swims? Lucas: Yep, from the verb nuotare. So the duck swims. L'anatra nuota. Luna: Okay, L'anatra nuota. Got it. Lucas: Next, a duck has a beak. L'anatra ha il becco. Luna: Ha il becco — has a beak. L'anatra ha il becco. That's a fun one. Lucas: Ducks can be funny, right? L'anatra è buffa. Luna: Buffa — funny. L'anatra è buffa. Yes, they waddle. Lucas: And finally, when you see a pretty duck: Che bella anatra! Luna: Che bella anatra! What a beautiful duck! That's my favorite. Lucas: Let's hear all five in a row. L'anatra è bianca. L'anatra nuota. L'anatra ha il becco. L'anatra è buffa. Che bella anatra! Luna: Okay, my turn. L'anatra è bianca. L'anatra nuota. L'anatra ha il becco. L'anatra è buffa. Che bella anatra! How was that? Lucas: Perfect. You're a natural. Luna: So if I see a duck in the park, I can say all these things. Lucas: Exactly. Imagine this: you're at a pond. You see a white duck swimming. You turn to your friend and say, 'L'anatra è bianca. L'anatra nuota. Che bella anatra!' Luna: That feels so real. I can totally do that. Lucas: And if it's a funny duck, you add 'è buffa'. Luna: Right. L'anatra è buffa. I love it. Lucas: You know, it's amazing how much we've built up. A few episodes ago we were just saying 'the duck has hunger'. Luna: Yeah, 'le anatre hanno fame'. Now we're describing them. Lucas: And none of this would be possible without listeners like you. If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Italian, a small monthly contribution at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo helps us keep making these episodes ad-free. Luna: Yeah, it's a tiny thing that makes a big difference. We're able to keep doing this because of that support. Lucas: Anyway, back to ducks. Let's practice a little scene. I'll be you, you be your friend. Luna: Okay, I'll start. 'Guarda, un'anatra!' Lucas: 'Ah, che bella anatra! È bianca.' Luna: 'Sì, e nuota. È buffa, vero?' Lucas: 'Vero. E ha un becco giallo.' Luna: 'Oh, i becchi sono gialli? Non lo sapevo.' Lucas: In Italian, becco is beak. But we didn't cover colors for the beak today — that's another episode. Luna: True. We'll keep it simple. L'anatra ha il becco. Lucas: Exactly. So let's review one more time. Repeat after me: L'anatra è bianca. Luna: L'anatra è bianca. Lucas: L'anatra nuota. Luna: L'anatra nuota. Lucas: L'anatra ha il becco. Luna: L'anatra ha il becco. Lucas: L'anatra è buffa. Luna: L'anatra è buffa. Lucas: Che bella anatra! Luna: Che bella anatra! Lucas: Fantastic. You've got it. Practice these until next time, and we'll see you soon. Luna: Ciao ciao from Luna and Lucas. Keep speaking Italian!
