- 0:00Speaker 1: Mark simone mr new york now three hours every weekday
- 0:04Speaker 1: from nine till noon on 710 wor well hey uh
- 0:06Speaker 1: let's take some calls 800-321-0710 is the number 800-321-0710 let's
- 0:07Speaker 1: go to uh sebastian in connecticut how you doing mark
- 0:10Speaker 1: good what's going on great show.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Um I'm one of Vincent's titans from Sicily.
- 0:31Speaker 1: You're one of what?
- 0:32Speaker 2: I'm calling about the titans. I'm just saying that my
- 0:35Speaker 2: family came from Sicily.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I'm not from ICE. We're not customs.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Listen, I'm calling about the ads, the Lamont ads currently out.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Does anybody understand this guy? Do you realize you sound
- 0:51Speaker 1: like you're in a tunnel? You're 5,000 miles away from
- 0:54Speaker 1: the phone.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I'm in the truck, Bart. I'm still working.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I know, but we can't really hear this. It's not
- 1:03Speaker 1: going to be clear enough to hear.
- 1:04Speaker 3: No?
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'll try it again.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Okay, listen. Lamont's got an ad that shows a creature
- 1:13Speaker 2: from Norwalk.
- 1:14Speaker 1: We can't understand you. You're too far away from the phone.
- 1:17Speaker 1: But I heard the word Lamont, so I think he
- 1:19Speaker 1: says Connecticut. I think he's talking about Ned Lamont, who's
- 1:22Speaker 1: the governor of Connecticut. Two terms now. He's running for
- 1:26Speaker 1: a third term. If you're in Connecticut, you don't want
- 1:29Speaker 1: to vote for this guy again. He's a nice guy.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And he's had some good moments as governor, but a
- 1:35Speaker 1: lot of bad stuff, too. And he's going kind of
- 1:37Speaker 1: a woke left wing lately. The problem is you never
- 1:40Speaker 1: want anybody to have a third term. Third terms never
- 1:43Speaker 1: work out. Also, again, he's going too woke, too left wing.
- 1:47Speaker 1: You got a good Republican candidate there. His name is
- 1:51Speaker 1: Ryan Fazio. Ryan Fazio, who I see him running a
- 1:55Speaker 1: lot of TV commercials here. which is good, which is good.
- 1:59Speaker 1: That means he's got some money to spend. Ryan Fazio,
- 2:01Speaker 1: vote for him. He's the Republican for Connecticut governor. Although
- 2:05Speaker 1: I noticed he's running a lot of TV commercials and
- 2:07Speaker 1: not enough social media. TV commercials are great. If this
- 2:11Speaker 1: is 1998, you need to be a little more social media.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Get that going. But you've had enough of Lamont. Hey,
- 2:17Speaker 1: so if you want to call, it's 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 2:19Speaker 4: 800-321-0710.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Carnegie Deli opens today at 11 a.m. What time is it? 1026.
- 2:34Speaker 1: All right. We'll see. Check it out on social media.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I don't know. They're trying to become an Instagram sensation.
- 2:42Speaker 1: If you do that in a bakery, restaurant, whatever, you
- 2:47Speaker 1: can have lines around the block. Lines everywhere. But if
- 2:52Speaker 1: you're a deli with pastrami and corned beef, I don't
- 2:55Speaker 1: know if that's going to work so much. Because that
- 2:59Speaker 1: Instagram phenomenon tends to be for younger people. But we'll see.
- 3:02Speaker 1: They've added a black and white cookie. They didn't do
- 3:06Speaker 1: that before. They got all the usual, you know, the
- 3:08Speaker 1: great cheesecake and all that stuff. But they've added a
- 3:11Speaker 1: black and white cookie. They're pushing that. So maybe that
- 3:13Speaker 1: will become a big sensation. Hey, by the way, if
- 3:16Speaker 1: you're a big black and white cookie fan, there's somebody
- 3:19Speaker 1: on Instagram. Actually, it's not just somebody. It's a big
- 3:23Speaker 1: food group. They're real food experts. They got all the
- 3:26Speaker 1: top black and white cookies in the city and brought
- 3:30Speaker 1: them into a room, and they did a blind taste
- 3:32Speaker 1: test with like 12 food critics. Who would have the
- 3:36Speaker 1: best black and white cookie in the city? William Greenberg Bakery? Well, yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: they did okay. No, the winner, believe it or not,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Barney Greengrass. Barney Greengrass, that legendary place on the Upper
- 3:47Speaker 1: West Side, won for best black and white cookie in
- 3:50Speaker 1: the city. Let's go to Al in Parsippany. Al, how
- 3:53Speaker 1: you doing?
- 3:55Speaker 3: Hello, how are you, Mr.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Simone?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Good. I have a question for President Trump.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Why are you being so civilized at this point in
- 4:07Speaker 3: the game?
- 4:08Speaker 1: All right, we'll ask him. I don't think he's ever...
- 4:11Speaker 1: Donald Trump accused of being too civilized? I don't think
- 4:13Speaker 1: that's ever happened, but... Okay, I think he's talking about Iran. Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: I don't know. He just might be stalling till the midterms.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Or.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Or he's luring them into some kind of trap. You
- 4:23Speaker 1: never know with him. He's always, always, always, it's a
- 4:26Speaker 1: 3D chess. You never know where he's going. Let's go to, uh,
- 4:30Speaker 1: Bill in Wildwood. Bill, how you doing?
- 4:32Speaker 3: All right.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yes, Bill.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yeah. I want, uh, Mark, why don't the Saudis sign
- 4:40Speaker 3: the Abraham Accords and join in the fight against Iran
- 4:44Speaker 3: instead of calling us up?
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they are cooperating to a certain extent. You're right.
- 4:48Speaker 1: They got to do a little more. Uh, I don't
- 4:52Speaker 1: know what the relationship is there. The Saudis, you can never, ever, ever, ever,
- 4:56Speaker 1: ever completely trust them. But they've been a little helpful.
- 5:01Speaker 1: But obviously the president not too thrilled with them because
- 5:07Speaker 1: he's about to release those 9-11 files, which they're not
- 5:10Speaker 1: going to be happy about. Let's go to Bill in Pennsylvania. Bill,
- 5:13Speaker 1: how are you doing? Wait a minute.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Wait a minute.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Got to push the button.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yes, Bill.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Do you hear me?
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, now we can hear you. Okay. Carnegie Deli.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I mean, I've never been there, but I know you
- 5:28Speaker 4: talk about it a lot, but is it better than
- 5:30Speaker 4: Katz Deli? I've been to Katz Deli twice.
- 5:33Speaker 3: And I love it.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Well, the old Carnegie was much better than Katz's. This
- 5:38Speaker 1: is the new Carnegie. It's coming back, not with the
- 5:40Speaker 1: original people, but the granddaughter of one of the original guys,
- 5:44Speaker 1: so we don't know for sure. I mean, I've seen
- 5:47Speaker 1: the new.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Sandwiches and pictures, they look like the same, but we'll
- 5:51Speaker 1: see if it's exactly the same. You know, sometimes they
- 5:54Speaker 1: get a little cheaper. What did you think of Katz's?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Did you ever see anything like that before in your life? Oh,
- 5:58Speaker 1: I love Katz's.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Well, first of all, I used to sell cars, and
- 6:02Speaker 4: I sold the owners a couple of different BMWs in
- 6:05Speaker 4: the past, and I've always gone there, and I always
- 6:07Speaker 4: thought it was a great deli.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's very good. Carnegie was different. Katz's was
- 6:13Speaker 1: always just a big tourist place. The Carnegie, they got tourists,
- 6:17Speaker 1: but it was mostly... real New Yorkers, and it was
- 6:20Speaker 1: in its heyday, no longer, and not for the last
- 6:22Speaker 1: few years, but in its heyday, 80s, 90s, it was
- 6:25Speaker 1: a lot of celebrities, a lot of famous people were
- 6:28Speaker 1: in there all the time. And the front table, the
- 6:32Speaker 1: front table was where all the comedians and the people
- 6:35Speaker 1: in show business all sat, and especially late at night,
- 6:39Speaker 1: after everybody got done with their show, there's no shows anymore,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I mean live shows, but in the good old days,
- 6:45Speaker 1: there were nightclubs, there was Michael's Pub, there was the
- 6:49Speaker 1: What else was there? I can't even remember. Rainbow and Stars.
- 6:52Speaker 1: There were all kinds of places. But you'd get there
- 6:56Speaker 1: about midnight. Believe it or not, you'd get to the Carnegie,
- 6:58Speaker 1: maybe 1130, but usually about midnight. I used to do
- 7:01Speaker 1: this every night, 80s, 90s. And you sit at the
- 7:04Speaker 1: front table and everybody appearing in New York would come
- 7:06Speaker 1: in and sit there. I used to go there with
- 7:08Speaker 1: George Carlin, with a lot of great comedians. If you
- 7:11Speaker 1: watch the movie, Broadway Danny Rose. They recreated all of
- 7:17Speaker 1: that in that movie. The whole thing takes place in
- 7:19Speaker 1: the Carnegie Deli. And you'll see the comedian's table up front.
- 7:23Speaker 1: But it reopens today at 11. I'll give you a report.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Check my Instagram. Maybe I'll put stuff up there. Go
- 7:29Speaker 1: over there and get some video or something. Let's go
- 7:32Speaker 1: to Jack in Massachusetts. Jack, how are you doing? Good morning, Mark. Yes, Jack.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I just went by your old school at Kenmore Square
- 7:42Speaker 3: from 40 years ago.
- 7:43Speaker 1: 40 years ago? I didn't go to school in Kenmore Square.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Well, then you go to Emerson?
- 7:49Speaker 1: Emerson, yes. Let me translate for people here. It's Emerson,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and what he's saying is 40 years ago. Well, people
- 7:57Speaker 1: don't know what 40 years ago is. You make me homesick.
- 8:01Speaker 1: You call me Mark.
- 8:04Speaker 3: All right, Mark.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Mark.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Listen, Mark, I got to tell you something. You know
- 8:10Speaker 3: what you need? You need more. interesting guest on. You
- 8:13Speaker 3: have Ann Coulter and you have Ed Rollins on so much.
- 8:16Speaker 3: We need more hot, hot, hot.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I got to be honest with you. If you're looking
- 8:22Speaker 1: for a second career, if you're looking for a second career,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I don't think radio consulting would be for you.
- 8:29Speaker 3: I'm going to do a New York accent, Mark. We need,
- 8:33Speaker 3: we need Newt Gingrich on. We need Josh Hawley on.
- 8:35Speaker 3: You have all these.
- 8:36Speaker 1: We don't, we don't, we don't, we don't have politicians on.
- 8:38Speaker 1: That's one rule.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Is that right?
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, no problem.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Also, I got a question for you. When you first
- 8:44Speaker 3: started the new gig.
- 8:45Speaker 1: All exception, Bruce Blakeman.
- 8:48Speaker 3: How come you never mentioned that you're not going to
- 8:50Speaker 3: be working Friday, Johnny Carson?
- 8:53Speaker 1: I do work Fridays.
- 8:55Speaker 3: No, a lot of you Fridays you haven't been on.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Oh, that's just in August.
- 8:58Speaker 3: That's what?
- 9:01Speaker 1: That's only in August I do that.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Oh, I see. You're back on Fridays?
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Are you okay?
- 9:07Speaker 3: I know last week. No, last week. Are you okay? No,
- 9:11Speaker 3: I listen to you all the time, Mark. Ever since
- 9:13Speaker 3: your Saturday night show.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Jack, snap out of it. Come on. Yeah, in the
- 9:19Speaker 1: summer I take Fridays. Here's the thing. I don't like
- 9:21Speaker 1: to take a whole week off. I just can't stand
- 9:24Speaker 1: taking the whole week off. So I do it like
- 9:27Speaker 1: every Friday in August. It's a way of burning up
- 9:29Speaker 1: a week. How much vacation do I get? I think
- 9:32Speaker 1: it's four weeks. So you've got to figure out how
- 9:34Speaker 1: to use it without affecting the show too much. But
- 9:37Speaker 1: that's why I do that. And we don't have politicians on.
- 9:39Speaker 1: You know, if you listen to a radio show and
- 9:41Speaker 1: the guy says, coming up next, Senator Ron Phillips. As
- 9:45Speaker 1: soon as you hear Senator Ron, whoever, Congressman Jack, so
- 9:48Speaker 1: and so, you hear Congressman, Senator. You don't want to
- 9:52Speaker 1: hear a bunch of politicians on here. You want to
- 9:54Speaker 1: hear people that are fun. Anyway, oh, you know who
- 9:56Speaker 1: we'll talk to next? ronda sheer we're going to talk
- 9:58Speaker 1: about new york she was here and we'll talk about
- 10:01Speaker 1: all sorts of things coming up on 710 wor
