- 1:39In this lessons episode, we're going to explore why our inability
- 1:43to ask better questions is the biggest barrier to truly extraordinary results.
- 1:48I'm going to talk about Elon Musk and Warren Buffett,
- 1:51how they ask the right questions.
- 1:53And we're going to take a look at how the right questions can transform confusion
- 1:57and declarity and why the quality of your questions directly determines
- 2:01the quality of your life.
- 2:12Today I want to talk about the hidden power of questions.
- 2:16This is the newsletter that I put out this week.
- 2:18And I think that it's an incredibly important idea to discuss just the power of questions.
- 2:24I don't care if you're an entrepreneur.
- 2:26I don't care if you are in a career and you're trying to get the next level.
- 2:31Everything you want, you know the saying,
- 2:33everything you want is on the other side of hard conversations.
- 2:37I actually think everything you want is on the other side of the right question
- 2:42because we all think we're good at asking questions,
- 2:45but in reality most of us are terrible at it.
- 2:49And it's not because we lack curiosity or intelligence.
- 2:52It's because we've been trained to focus on answers,
- 2:57school reward students who memorize facts,
- 3:00not those who challenge assumptions and work
- 3:03promotes people who execute the known solution,
- 3:06the way that it's always been done,
- 3:08not those who explore these unknown possibilities.
- 3:12But if we look at anyone who's achieved extraordinary results in any field,
- 3:16the difference between good and great isn't having more answers.
- 3:20It's an asking better questions.
- 3:23When Elon Musk questioned why rockets cost so much,
- 3:26he didn't start by studying aerospace engineering.
- 3:29He started by breaking down the raw material costs of rockets
- 3:33and asking why each component was so expensive.
- 3:37This fundamental questioning led to SpaceX revolutionizing the space industry.
- 3:43The same pattern shows up everywhere.
- 3:45Jeff Bezos asked why people couldn't buy any book they wanted instantly.
- 3:49Steve Jobs asked why computers couldn't be beautiful and intuitive.
- 3:53They didn't begin with solutions.
- 3:55They began with questions that challenged basic assumptions.
- 3:59But here's what nobody tells you about questions.
- 4:01They're not just tools for learning.
- 4:03They're tools for transformation.
- 4:05The right question can instantly shift your perspective.
- 4:08It can take a problem that seemed impossible and make the solution obvious.
- 4:12It can turn confusion and declarity overwhelm and to focus and stagnation into momentum.
- 4:18The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of the questions
- 4:23you regularly ask yourself.
- 4:25Think about that for a second.
- 4:27What questions do you ask yourself when you wake up,
- 4:30when you face a challenge,
- 4:31when you're stuck,
- 4:32when you're deciding what to do with your time?
- 4:34Most people unconsciously ask questions that keep them trapped.
- 4:37Questions like why is this happening to me or what if I fail or what will others think?
- 4:42These questions program your brain to look for evidence of problems,
- 4:46failures and judgments.
- 4:48They create a self-fulfilling prophecy of mediocrity.
- 4:52And the path to extraordinary results,
- 4:55it starts with not only the right questions but extraordinary questions.
- 4:59So let's talk about questions,
- 5:01but through the context of questions as mental software.
- 5:05Because your mind is running on questions whether you realize it or not.
- 5:10Think of questions as lines of code in your mental software.
- 5:13Some questions create bugs in your thinking.
- 5:16Others unlock new capabilities you didn't know you had.
- 5:19Now most people are running on default questions.
- 5:22They never chose to install.
- 5:23These are mental programs that you inherited from your parents,
- 5:26your teachers and society.
- 5:28Now they might have served the purpose once,
- 5:30but now they're outdated.
- 5:31They're running in the background.
- 5:32They're draining your mental energy and they're limiting your potential.
- 5:36If you want to spot questions running your life,
- 5:38look at your results.
- 5:39So if you're constantly stressed about money,
- 5:41you might be running questions like how can I avoid going broke?
- 5:45Instead of how can I create more value?
- 5:48If your relationships are unfulfilling,
- 5:50you might be asking why don't people understand me?
- 5:52Instead of how can I understand others more deeply?
- 5:56Questions shape reality by directing your focus.
- 5:59And when you ask better questions,
- 6:01you literally upgrade your mental operating system.
- 6:04Your brain starts noticing opportunities it was blind to before.
- 6:08Solutions appear that were invisible
- 6:10when you were asking surface level questions.
- 6:12And this isn't just theory.
- 6:13It's how breakthroughs happen.
- 6:14Breaking through plateaus in any area
- 6:17comes down to asking questions nobody else is asking.
- 6:20Questions to challenge core assumptions,
- 6:22questions that reframe the entire problem.
- 6:25The gap between a 1x and a 1000x performance,
- 6:28it isn't in having more answers.
- 6:30It's asking better questions.
- 6:33Now if you ask better questions, you get better returns.
- 6:36So let's talk about returns
- 6:37because most people play small
- 6:39because they ask small questions.
- 6:41They stay stuck at 1x thinking
- 6:44because their questions never challenge
- 6:45their fundamental assumptions about what's possible.
- 6:48The jump from 1x to 10x
- 6:50starts with questions that break limiting patterns.
- 6:53So instead of asking how can I get more clients,
- 6:56you start to ask why do clients need
- 6:58what I'm selling in the first place?
- 6:59That simple shift can reveal entire markets
- 7:03you were missing.
- 7:04And the 10x to the 100x leap
- 7:07happens when your questions reframe the entire game.
- 7:11This is where you stop asking
- 7:14how can I be the best player
- 7:15and then you start asking how can I change the rules?
- 7:18These questions break you out of competition
- 7:22into creation.
- 7:23But let's talk about the 100x to 1000x jump.
- 7:26That's where the real magic happens.
- 7:28So this is where luck enters a picture
- 7:31but luck isn't random.
- 7:33It's attracted to certain types of questions.
- 7:35Questions that combine fields
- 7:37nobody's combined before.
- 7:38Questions that challenge assumptions
- 7:40so basic that nobody sees them as assumptions.
- 7:44Questions that make people uncomfortable
- 7:46because they threaten the status, quote,
- 7:49when you start asking questions like this,
- 7:51when you go from 100x to 1000x,
- 7:54that's when you start manufacturing luck.
- 7:56For example, Warren Buffett didn't just ask
- 7:59what stock should I buy?
- 8:00He asked what businesses are so fundamental to society
- 8:04that will be valuable for the next 50 years.
- 8:07That question led him to invest in Coca-Cola,
- 8:10American Express, and other companies
- 8:12that have generated astronomical returns.
- 8:14So when everyone else is asking
- 8:15how can I compete, you need to be asking
- 8:18what game should I be playing instead
- 8:20because the right question doesn't just solve problems.
- 8:23It eliminates them entirely.
- 8:25Now, I've already spoken about why questions are so important,
- 8:29how to ask questions to go from 1x to 1000x,
- 8:33but let's talk about the architecture of better questions.
- 8:36So what are the things that you should be doing
- 8:38when you ask questions about your life, your business,
- 8:40your finances, your marriage?
- 8:42What are the things that you should be doing
- 8:45so that those questions lead to the results that you want?
- 8:48Because most people think asking better questions
- 8:51is about being smarter, and it's not.
- 8:52It's about being more precise.
- 8:54Vague questions creates vague results.
- 8:58So when you ask, how can I be more successful?
- 9:01Your brain has nothing concrete to work with.
- 9:03It's like trying to build a house without blueprints.
- 9:06But when you start to ask questions
- 9:08like what specific skills would make me irreplaceable
- 9:12in my industry, your mind immediately
- 9:14starts generating actionable insights.
- 9:16This is the art of question architecture.
- 9:19Start with what instead of why?
- 9:22Why questions they lead to rationalizations and excuses?
- 9:25What questions lead to observations and actions?
- 9:29Why am I stuck?
- 9:30Becomes what small step would create momentum?
- 9:33Why don't I have enough time?
- 9:35Becomes what am I currently spending time on
- 9:38that doesn't serve my goals?
- 9:40The more specific your question, the more useful the answer.
- 9:43And your internal dialogue is just a series
- 9:46of questions and answers.
- 9:48Most people let this run on autopilot.
- 9:50But when you consciously architect your questions,
- 9:53you transform your mental landscape.
- 9:55I want you to think of questions as doorways.
- 9:57A poorly designed doorway leads to a closet.
- 10:00A well designed doorway opens into a universe of possibilities.
- 10:04The goal isn't to find the one perfect question.
- 10:07It's to develop a framework of generating better questions
- 10:11consistently.
- 10:12This is how you turn confusion into clarity.
- 10:14It's how you turn overwhelm into action
- 10:18and stagnation in the progress.
- 10:20Now let's get tactical.
- 10:21Because master learners don't just ask better questions.
- 10:24Like I said, they have a system for generating them.
- 10:27But first, they recognize the timing matters.
- 10:30There's a massive difference between asking questions
- 10:33to understand and asking questions to act.
- 10:36Understanding questions open up possibilities.
- 10:38Action questions narrow them down.
- 10:40When you're exploring a new field,
- 10:42you want broad questions, the challenge-based assumptions.
- 10:45So what if everything I know about this is wrong?
- 10:47This creates space for genuine insight.
- 10:50But when it's time to execute, you need
- 10:52focused questions that drive specific outcomes.
- 10:56What's the smallest step I can take right now
- 10:58that makes all other steps easier?
- 11:00The key is knowing which mode you're in.
- 11:03Most people get stuck because they ask action questions
- 11:06during exploration mode or exploration questions
- 11:09during action mode.
- 11:11They try to optimize before they understand
- 11:13or they keep exploring when they should be executing.
- 11:17Another tactic is the best question askers,
- 11:20the best learners in the world.
- 11:22They also build a question database.
- 11:25So they don't just go through life at hawk.
- 11:27They collect powerful questions like others collect answers.
- 11:31So there's some questions that you can always keep
- 11:33in your repertoire that will always help you think
- 11:36through problems.
- 11:37A couple of them would be, what would this look like
- 11:39if it were easy?
- 11:40What am I not seeing?
- 11:41What would I do if I knew I couldn't fail?
- 11:44These aren't just motivational quotes.
- 11:46These are mental tools that break you out
- 11:49of limited thinking patterns.
- 11:50But the real power comes from truly creating
- 11:55your own questions, not just parroting these great questions,
- 11:59but they're not specific to you.
- 12:01I just wanna take a second and thank Cornbread Ham
- 12:03for supporting today's episode.
- 12:04Now, Cornbread Ham CBD gummies have been
- 12:07this really nice addition to my wellness toolkit.
- 12:10I don't use them every day just when I want to and why
- 12:13and after those extra busy weeks,
- 12:15but they're perfect for those moments
- 12:17when you wanna take the edge off
- 12:18and just find your balance really just shut off from work.

- 13:09So the power comes from creating questions
- 13:12that address your specific blind spots,
- 13:14questions that challenge your deepest assumptions
- 13:17and questions that force you to think in new ways.
- 13:20But what most people miss about questions
- 13:22is they're not just tools for solving problems
- 13:24or tools for living.
- 13:26In my opinion, questions determine
- 13:28how you experience reality itself.
- 13:30When you ask, for example, what's wrong with my life,
- 13:33you're gonna find endless problems.
- 13:35When you ask what's working in my life,
- 13:37you find endless opportunities.
- 13:39Both questions reveal truth,
- 13:40but they reveal different truths.
- 13:42And this isn't just positive thinking,
- 13:43it's about understanding how your mind constructs reality.
- 13:47Every answer closes doors, it settles something,
- 13:50it finalizes it, puts it in a box.
- 13:52But questions, they open doors,
- 13:55they create possibilities that didn't exist before.
- 13:58Smart people, they sometimes fall into a trap
- 14:00of being so answer oriented.
- 14:02They pride themselves on knowing things,
- 14:04on being right, on having it all figured out.
- 14:07But true wisdom comes from maintaining a state of question.
- 14:12Always be learning.
- 14:13Think about it.
- 14:14The most profound experiences in life,
- 14:16they don't come from finding answers.
- 14:17They come from encountering better questions.
- 14:20Questions that make you reevaluate everything.
- 14:22Questions that expand your sense of what's possible.
- 14:25Questions that connect you with something
- 14:27larger than yourself.
- 14:28So the goal isn't to eliminate uncertainty,
- 14:31it's to get better at dancing with it.
- 14:33Life becomes more interesting
- 14:35when you stop demanding answers
- 14:37and start embracing questions.
- 14:39And when you stop trying to be certain
- 14:41and you start getting curious.
- 14:44Now you're probably wondering,
- 14:45what do I do with all this?
- 14:46Start small.
- 14:47Take questions that you ask yourself every single day,
- 14:49upgrade them.
- 14:50Don't try to force massive change,
- 14:52just make them slightly better.
- 14:53Small shifts in your questions
- 14:56creates massive shifts in your life.
- 14:57So instead of asking,
- 14:58what do I have to do today?
- 15:00Ask what is the most important thing
- 15:02I could accomplish today?
- 15:03Pay attention to warning signs of poor questions.
- 15:06So when you feel stuck, stressed, overwhelmed, pause,
- 15:09and notice what questions are running through your mind.
- 15:12Are they empowering?
- 15:13Are they limiting?
- 15:14Are they specific?
- 15:14Are they vague?
- 15:15Are they opening up new possibilities?
- 15:18Or are they closing them off?
- 15:19And the beauty of questions
- 15:20is that you can change them instantly.
- 15:22Your brain is like a search engine.
- 15:23It will find answers to whatever questions you feed it.
- 15:26Feed it better questions.
- 15:28You'll get better answers.
- 15:29But there's something even more powerful at work here.
- 15:31Questions compound.
- 15:32So each better question leads to better insights,
- 15:35which leads to better questions.
- 15:36It's this upward spiral of understanding and capability.
- 15:40And this is how you future-proof yourself.
- 15:42In a world of artificial intelligence,
- 15:45in a world of rapid change,
- 15:47the ability to ask better questions
- 15:48becomes increasingly valuable.
- 15:51AI can give you an answer,
- 15:52but it can't tell you what questions to ask.
- 15:55That's where the opportunity lies.
- 15:57Not in having all the answers,
- 15:59but in knowing how to find the questions that matter.
- 16:02MUSIC
