SPEAKER_01: Yesterday I was talking about this little boy who was fishing and ended up getting a piranha of all things.
• 0:06
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 0:06
SPEAKER_01: And that was one of those, oh my gosh, as a kid, I've always feared for some reason piranhas.
• 0:11
SPEAKER_01: And you had talked about, and you can catch this on the Scott Nalley on demand on our app.
• 0:15
SPEAKER_01: You had talked about, oh yeah, there used to be like some scene out of a movie where a horse like was in water and then got ate up by piranhas or devoured in 11 seconds.
• 0:25
SPEAKER_01: Here is another one that this I read this story this morning and I was like, that's another one I've always been afraid of.
• 0:32
SPEAKER_01: A 23-year-old Florida man is being praised after rescuing a woman who was trapped on a railroad crossing.
• 0:38
SPEAKER_01: I've also had this fear.
• 0:40
SPEAKER_00: Then now that's happened in a lot of movies.
• 0:43
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, yes.
• 0:44
SPEAKER_01: But this is something from the beginning of time, it's put in your brain, and you're like, oh my God, what if I get stuck?
• 0:50
SPEAKER_01: Like, why would I get stuck on the railroad crossing?
• 0:52
SPEAKER_00: Well, if your car was, you know, finally dying right there.
• 0:55
SPEAKER_00: But don't you uh don't most people think now I may not be great under pressure.
• 0:59
  SPEAKER_00: I might turn into a bit of a a yeller.
• 1:02
SPEAKER_00: Um but that being said, open your door and get out.
• 1:06
SPEAKER_01: You know, but I don't think that you are thinking of that in that moment.
• 1:09
SPEAKER_01: And then what if your foot gets stuck in the actual like in between?
• 1:12
SPEAKER_01: You know what's far worse?
• 1:13
SPEAKER_00: If your car goes in the water and you're on your way down.
• 1:17
SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna give you a piece of life-saving advice should you find yourself, I don't know, driving into Seneca Lake.
• 1:23
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 1:24
SPEAKER_00: Get your windows down before you sink, because the biggest problem that happens.
• 1:28
SPEAKER_00: All right, now this is a legit thing.
• 1:30
SPEAKER_00: Maybe I learned it in my volunteer firefighter training, maybe I learned it in the movies.
• 1:35
  SPEAKER_00: You all decide.
• 1:36
  SPEAKER_01: I be ha, but I have something I don't think it'll work.
• 1:38
SPEAKER_00: Well, here's oh, you've got the window tappy blowy out thing on your keychain.
• 1:42
SPEAKER_00: Is that what you got?
• 1:43
  SPEAKER_00: What?
• 1:43
SPEAKER_00: Oh, you you don't have one of those where it can blast a window out?
• 1:47
SPEAKER_00: Because I don't I think I don't think people are thinking quick enough in that situation.
• 1:51
SPEAKER_01: No, I was thinking, okay, if I'm going in the water, the first thing I'm I'm not thinking, put my windows down.
• 1:56
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 1:57
SPEAKER_01: So once I'm in the water, my my windows are electric.
• 2:00
SPEAKER_01: So isn't the electric going out?
• 2:02
  SPEAKER_01: It's already gone out.
• 2:03
SPEAKER_00: That's a part of the reason I'm telling you hit the button the second you hit the water.
• 2:07
SPEAKER_00: Let me help you with this just in case.
• 2:09
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 2:10
SPEAKER_01: I'll think about that next time I I drive into Seneca Lake.
• 2:13
SPEAKER_00: If you shear off 86 and you end up in that ice fishing pond, you know, the one right there, like where it says Ted Nugent, and I think at one point blink one eighty-two.
• 2:21
  SPEAKER_01: Did at one point.
• 2:22
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 2:22
SPEAKER_00: So if should you be sinking there before the electrical goes out, try to get the window down because here's what happens the pressure variance from inside to outside the car, you could not physically push that door open with the water.
• 2:35
SPEAKER_00: Now, if you had to wait for the car to fill up, a couple things are gonna happen.
• 2:39
SPEAKER_00: You're gonna go into panic mode.
• 2:41
SPEAKER_00: That is just gonna happen.
• 2:42
  SPEAKER_00: Yes.
• 2:42
SPEAKER_00: And because the water's rising.
• 2:44
SPEAKER_00: Now, when the water gets all the way over your head, you could open the door, it's still very difficult to do.
• 2:49
SPEAKER_00: So that honestly is why you need to make sure the window's done.
• 2:53
SPEAKER_00: It sounds counterintuitive, but it's really does.
• 2:56
SPEAKER_01: I'll make sure I think about that.
• 2:57
SPEAKER_01: No, you're gonna just die.
• 2:58
SPEAKER_00: But uh that's here nor there.
• 3:00
SPEAKER_01: But this whole thing about like, you're right, open the door when I'm on the the railroad crossing because of Yeah, just get out.
• 3:06
  SPEAKER_01: Just get out.
• 3:07
SPEAKER_01: But this woman, and this is what I think happened.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_01: So her car, SUV, was stuck underneath the arm.
• 3:13
SPEAKER_01: I think she was doing exactly what we've all done.
• 3:15
  SPEAKER_01: I can beat it.
• 3:16
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I can beat it.
• 3:17
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 3:17
  SPEAKER_01: And then get stuck.
• 3:18
SPEAKER_00: And that's and but I even though the the arm's not gonna hold the door closed.
• 3:22
  SPEAKER_01: No, I know, I know, I know.
• 3:24
SPEAKER_01: But you're just not thinking of that.
• 3:25
  SPEAKER_01: I guess so.
• 3:26
SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, it is tough.
• 3:27
SPEAKER_00: Pressure situations like that are tough.
• 3:29
  SPEAKER_00: But you know what?
• 3:30
SPEAKER_00: If I saved a life today by telling you to put your windows down when you careen into the water, thank you.
• 3:35
  SPEAKER_00: Because that's gonna happen.
• 3:36
  SPEAKER_01: No, it's not.
• 3:37
SPEAKER_01: I feel like that's your good deed of the day.
• 3:39
  SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
• 3:40
  SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm here for you guys.
