- 0:34and it is a pleasure to be here with you listening to our Catholic radio,
- 0:37sharing our Catholic faith here at the clinic. We talk about our mental health,
- 0:42our spiritual health and our physical health. Of course,
- 0:45today's show is a little bit interesting. Um, you know,
- 0:47the title I murdered my brother and I became possessed. Um,
- 0:51does that really happen? Well,
- 0:52I got an interesting story to share with you about a man. I was treating, uh,
- 0:56who shared that story himself, but, and I thought it was interesting, you know,
- 1:01to say that that's what it came down to.
- 1:03He wasn't sure why he was possessed or what was going on in his life or what
- 1:07brought it about, but that's really what happened and, uh,
- 1:10can somebody be liberated from that? Absolutely.
- 1:12But before we get started here at the top of the new hour,
- 1:15if we're gonna talk about such intense things on our show,
- 1:18let's go ahead and start with some good prayers with the Angelus and the prayer
- 1:21to St. Michael in the name of the father and of the son of the holy spirit,
- 1:24amen. The angel of the Lord declared into Mary and she conceded the holy spirit,
- 1:29hail Mary full of grace.
- 1:31The Lord is with the blessed Artha amongst women and blessed as the fruit of eye
- 1:35wo Jesus, holy Mary mother of God. Pray for us sinners. No,
- 1:39at the hour of our death, amen. Behold, the hand of the Lord,
- 1:42be it done unto me, according to the word, hail Mary full of grace,
- 1:46the Lord is with the bless at Artha amongst women and blessed.
- 1:49It is the fruit of th wound. Jesus, holy Mary mother of God.
- 1:53Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
- 1:56And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us hail hail Mary full of grace.
- 2:00Lord is with the bless at Artha amongst women and bless it as the fruit of I wo
- 2:04Jesus, holy Mary mother of God,
- 2:07pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, amen.
- 2:10Pray for us a holy mother of God,
- 2:12that we may be made wor worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray.
- 2:16Pour forth would be speeched the oh Lord, that grace into our hearts that we,
- 2:19to whom the incarnation of Christ lies son was made known by the message of an
- 2:23angel made by his passion and cross be brought to the glory of his resurrection
- 2:27through the same Christ, our Lord, amen, St. Michael,
- 2:31the arc angel defend us in battle,
- 2:32be protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke.
- 2:36And we humbly pray and do thou princes of the heavenly host by the power of God,
- 2:40cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who around the world seeking the
- 2:44ruin of souls. Amen. The name of the father and of the son of the holy spirit.
- 2:48Amen. Well folks, why could this be, you know,
- 2:51we talk about a lot of different things and you know,
- 2:54when you look on TV and you look at Hollywood and you look at all these
- 2:57different images of what possession is and what happens with possession,
- 3:01usually we start to see that, um,
- 3:05the portrayal is you were doing something very, very directly a cult.
- 3:09You were doing something very, very directly related to, uh,
- 3:13worshiping the devil or, uh, bringing about evil spirits. You know,
- 3:18a lot of times we say, oh yeah, they were playing with the Toro cards.
- 3:21And all of a sudden they got possessed because they were calling upon evil, uh,
- 3:25or somebody was playing with the oui board. And of course, you know,
- 3:27they were tapping into the nether world. And because of that,
- 3:31naturally they opened doors to darkness and, you know, gosh,
- 3:35I never want to do that. I never want to open any doors to darkness. I never,
- 3:39I wanna make sure that that's just not part of, uh, my life.
- 3:42And so I'm gonna go pray and I'm gonna go do, do these things.
- 3:45And I'm gonna be really shocked and appalled every time,
- 3:47something like that comes up because I want that completely away from me.
- 3:50And I'm gonna teach my family never to be near anything that looks like it's a
- 3:55cult. And of course, those are some very direct ways, direct entry ways,
- 3:59direct ways that we open portals into the dark side.
- 4:02But the question now is what about the everyday things we do?
- 4:07What about the sins that we carry with ourselves?
- 4:09What about those things that we're not willing to let go of that we have every
- 4:13day that we Harbor every day and guess what? Little by little,
- 4:17they start to accumulate. It's interesting because, uh,
- 4:21a lot of times people don't realize and they think, well,
- 4:25possession happens overnight. You know, something, something that goes as,
- 4:28as deep and dark, as, as a demonic possession, demonic,
- 4:31obsessions influences that happens overnight. You know how I know,
- 4:34because I saw it in the movies, right? Somebody was doing something.
- 4:37And in that moment, boy, that Demonn entered them and,
- 4:40and they were possessed and they needed to call it priest right away. And to,
- 4:43to remove all of this, is that really how it happens in life?
- 4:47What we have to realize is in order to get to the level of some kind of intense
- 4:51possession, intense influence of the darkness in our lives,
- 4:54usually we've been giving permission, uh, throughout time.
- 4:58It's not just a one time thing. Usually it's been accumulating,
- 5:02we've accepted certain things in our hearts, in our minds, in our souls, um,
- 5:07little by little, and we say, you know what? That's okay because I've made it.
- 5:11Okay. And what I mean by certain things, it can be simple little sins. Like,
- 5:15you know,
- 5:15I really don't like this person and I'm not gonna try to find anything good
- 5:18about them. And the more I'm around them. Oh,
- 5:20the more they really do weigh on me, man. They are so annoying.
- 5:25They, I don't know, you know what? I'm just gonna step away.
- 5:28This is the person I work with or something, you know,
- 5:30it could be somebody we see, uh, when we go to the store,
- 5:33whatever the situation is, we start not liking this person.
- 5:36And we don't do anything to change that we don't look for the good in that
- 5:39person. We just kind of continue holding onto that. And we say,
- 5:43I don't like that. In fact, you know what, I'm just gonna start to ignore them.
- 5:46I'm gonna start to cut them off.
- 5:48I'm gonna start to pretend they're not even there.
- 5:51And they do say something to me.
- 5:52I'm just gonna be very short with 'em and move on because boy,
- 5:55there's something about them. I just don't like, like,
- 5:57and that's just how it goes. You know, that, that's how it's gonna be.
- 6:00Whenever I go to work, if they need help, I'm definitely not gonna help them.
- 6:03Why would I do that? Gosh, they're, they're so annoying. You know,
- 6:06I'm just gonna go home and I'm gonna be happy knowing that I'm a good person.
- 6:10I don't annoy other people or so we think, but I don't annoy other people. I, I,
- 6:14I feel that I'm gonna do what's right. I'm gonna go pray my rosary and boy,
- 6:18I just know that I don't like this person and that could continue to grow.
- 6:21I mean, it could stay stagnant like that,
- 6:22and that's not good if it stays stagnant over time,
- 6:24it starts to be like a little festering wounds. But as we know,
- 6:27festering wounds can get worse and worse.
- 6:29So it can continue to grow to the point where not only do we not like the person
- 6:32or do we find that person off putting, uh,
- 6:35we might even go out of our way to make sure that they don't get promoted or
- 6:38that other people kind of see how we feel about them, you know?
- 6:42And we do it in a way where we're like, Hey,
- 6:44have you ever noticed anything about that person? Do that? You know,
- 6:48I just find them a little challenging. Do you, do we agree here? Do,
- 6:53do we see eye to eye on this? And the other person might say, yeah, I do too.
- 6:56Wow. Okay. That confirms what I was thinking. That's for sure.
- 6:59Because I was already looking for that answer and I'm holding onto this.
- 7:02And every time I see this person, I get more, either angry or irritated,
- 7:06or I find him even more distasteful. This can happen. It's very common.
- 7:10It's human nature. The question is what is the consequence to our soul?
- 7:15What's the, the consequence to ourselves in this situation? What am I doing?
- 7:20Well, little by little folks. If we do that,
- 7:23we're allowing the door of irritability, hatred,
- 7:28whatever you want to call it,
- 7:29to be open and maybe to open other doors and little by little we're
- 7:34allowing something to build and build and build and build.
- 7:37And we don't even recognize it. It's kinda like the story of the, uh,
- 7:41frog that it's in a boiling pot, you know, turn on the heat,
- 7:43really nice and low. And it just keeps getting hotter little by little,
- 7:46but the frog doesn't realize that it's being cooked because the temperature's
- 7:49rising in a very calm, cool fashion, but it's looking pretty dangerous.
- 7:53You're gonna die here. Well,
- 7:55a lot of times that can happen for us as well were allowing this evil to be
- 8:00in our hearts. We're allowing this hatred to be in our heart.
- 8:02Something that goes against our commandment, something that goes against, uh,
- 8:06the fifth commandment, in fact, and Dr. Saba, what do you mean?
- 8:10That goes against the fifth commandment? Fifth command is actually not kill.
- 8:12I'm not killing this person. Well, we're gonna have to ask ourselves,
- 8:16how do we define what it means to kill?
- 8:20Because if we go back to the definition of dying and strictly the physical
- 8:24death, then we are no better than that. Serpent in the book of Genesis.
- 8:30If we go off of well, you know,
- 8:31dying means a physical death and I'm not gonna die. I'm not dying,
- 8:36right? I can, I can eat at the apple and not die.
- 8:39I'll just have knowledge of good and evil. Well,
- 8:41I opened the door to knowledge of evil, which wasn't there,
- 8:45which means that I've opened the door to evil, being around. If I do that,
- 8:50if I'm doing something that might kill my soul and I don't even even
- 8:55think about it,
- 8:55I don't think about it twice because it's just happening in the background. Um,
- 8:59you know, it's, it's an interesting, um, thing to consider,
- 9:03but let's see if we're any different in our influence than what it said in the
- 9:06book of Genesis. Now I'm gonna read from Genesis chapter three, um,
- 9:09it's called it's the fall of man. And this is what it says. Now.
- 9:13The serpent was Mo was more crafty than any of the wild animals.
- 9:17The Lord God had made. He said to the woman, did God really say,
- 9:21you must not eat from any tree in the garden? Well,
- 9:25we can translate this into,
- 9:26did God really say you have to like everybody did God really?
- 9:29Isn't it human to not like people isn't isn't it. Okay. I mean, we,
- 9:34we can't make friends with anybody. What do we call that?
- 9:36When we're out in public? Oh, there's just a personality difference here.
- 9:39This is question of personality issues. Well,
- 9:42is that what we're called to as Catholics is what we have to ask ourselves.
- 9:45So remember the devil's already introducing questions,
- 9:49questioning what God had said.
- 9:50Did God really say that you must not eat from any tree in the garden?
- 9:53Did Jesus really say, you gotta love your enemies? Mm let's think about it.
- 9:56What does a woman say? She says to the serpent,
- 9:59we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
- 10:02but God did say you must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of
- 10:07the garden and you must not touch it or you will die. What does Jesus tell us,
- 10:10turn the other cheek. Well, he did say turn the other cheek. Uh, Jesus said,
- 10:15love your enemies. Um, he said, love your neighbors as you love yourself.
- 10:20So he, he is putting all these things in play. Well, what's the devil gonna say?
- 10:24I mean, we, we, we come back with, well, this is what Jesus did say. Well,
- 10:28the devil's gonna say, well, you're certainly not gonna die.
- 10:31So Jesus is telling us if I do something wrong, I'm gonna, I I've,
- 10:35I've murdered my brother. We're gonna get to those verses in, in the gospels.
- 10:39Um, but what's the devil gonna tell us,
- 10:41he's gonna say you will not certainly die to certain ENT to the woman for
- 10:45God knows that when you eat from it,
- 10:47your eyes will be open and you will be like God knowing good and evil.
- 10:52So what's the difference? Well, no, you're certainly not gonna,
- 10:55you're not killing anybody. They're not gonna die.
- 10:59What's gonna happen is your eyes will be open to realize that people aren't
- 11:03perfect and that you don't have to accept imperfection because didn't Jesus also
- 11:07tell us to be perfect. And boy, if they're not perfect, why would I accept them?
- 11:10They're not following the way of Jesus. Isn't that? What happens?
- 11:14Isn't that the way it is brought about isn't that what the serpent tells us to
- 11:17do tells us to, uh, challenge that, which God tells us, right.
- 11:22To see it from a different way. Well, if I see it from a different way,
- 11:25I'm listening, what am I listening to?
- 11:28I'm leaving the path of Christ and I'm opening up the doorways to the
- 11:32dark side. So this is where we really gotta ask ourselves.
- 11:35When we come back from the break, I know the break's coming up in a,
- 11:37in a little while here. When we come back from the break,
- 11:39I'm gonna share the story of this patient I saw and what was going on with him
- 11:43and how he became influenced by the dark side and how we can avoid those
- 11:48pitfalls in our very lives. More. We come back from the break.
- 12:04Right? Well, welcome back to Virgin. Most powerful radio.
- 12:06You are looking to the Dr. Blue sand of all coach as always.
- 12:10It's a pleasure to be here.
- 12:12Today. We are talking about an interesting topic. And the question is,
- 12:17what does it really mean to murder somebody? You know,
- 12:21I had a patient who, uh, was really influenced by, um,
- 12:27some challenging, challenging things going on in his life.
- 12:30He found that things just were not going well.
- 12:33Things didn't make sense. He was, uh, it probably been late thirties.
- 12:38He was in his late thirties. And when he came to me,
- 12:41it was because he just didn't know what was going on.
- 12:44He didn't know what was going on. Uh, he,
- 12:46to give you a little bit of a background, he was married. He had some kids. Um,
- 12:51his wife was fine. His kids were fine. They were doing well in school.
- 12:54There was nothing extraordinary, uh, going on in his life.
- 12:57Other than for himself, he could not think straight. He could not, uh,
- 13:02see things clearly is what he would say he was at work, but it was like,
- 13:06he wasn't there. He felt like his mind was being controlled.
- 13:10He said that he wanted to do something.
- 13:13He wanted to go ahead and get on the computer,
- 13:15do his computer work or whatever it was that he needed to do at work.
- 13:19And somehow his mind could just not go to this. He could not focus.
- 13:23He said that he could he'd get home and he'd try to start a task.
- 13:26And he couldn't do anything. Um, because he'd start the task,
- 13:29but he would do it halfway. It didn't make sense to him. He said, it's like,
- 13:33it's right there in front of me. I want to get this done.
- 13:36But somehow there's a disconnect between my brain and my body.
- 13:41I try to get my hands to move and they will.
- 13:44But I just feel like I can't control them. Like I can't control my body anymore.
- 13:47This is completely strange.
- 13:49And so when you need to evaluated a few different things about anybody's ever
- 13:53feeling this way, I don't want you to think, oh my goodness, this is it.
- 13:56I must be, uh, influenced by the dark side. I,
- 13:58I must be influenced by a Demonn or something in my life. No,
- 14:02let's review this because obviously if you're coming to me in the clinic,
- 14:04I gotta evaluate a few things. So first as always, we start with the physical,
- 14:08we start with the body. We start to see, well, what's going on with your body,
- 14:11or you depleted at any vitamins. A lot of times,
- 14:13if you have a vitamin B 12 deficiency, this could be an issue.
- 14:17If you have a vitamin C deficiency, this could be an issue.
- 14:19If you have anything in terms of your, your body's deficiencies in,
- 14:23in terms of the vitamins, the electrolytes and things of that nature,
- 14:25you might not think clearly I've had patients who have been low in their sodium,
- 14:29low in their electrolytes, and they can't think clearly. In fact,
- 14:32one of the symptoms of being off in your electrolytes is that you can develop
- 14:36psychotic type symptoms. Um, and you might see things,
- 14:39hear things act differently than you normally would.
- 14:42So you do the lab work and he looked pretty good. Okay. Physically looking.
- 14:46Okay. Uh, it was a little bit outta shape, but no big deal,
- 14:49nothing that would've influenced him in the way that, that he was experiencing,
- 14:51because remember he was experiencing what he was experiencing was really,
- 14:55he had no control over his body. At this point. It was very, very challenging.
- 15:00So now let's get things straight though. Let me clear a few things up.
- 15:03He wasn't saying that his body was moving on its own.
- 15:06He wasn't saying that he was speaking in tongues.
- 15:08He wasn't saying anything along those lines.
- 15:10The only thing that he was experiencing is he couldn't move forward. He was,
- 15:15he just wasn't able,
- 15:16it was kinda like he was stuck in a tar pit or like he was stuck in a VAT of
- 15:20what cement and, and he had to get through.
- 15:21It's kinda like trying to sprint in the swimming pool.
- 15:24He just could not move in that direction.
- 15:26And sometimes it was hard to even start that move. Okay. Well,
- 15:29physically everything's looking pretty good. Thyroid was looking okay.
- 15:32No problems in the, in, in the urinary tract. No, no obvious signs of infection,
- 15:37no meningitis, nothing that would physically cause these symptoms.
- 15:41So that was pretty interesting. Okay. So then we move forward and we say,
- 15:45physically, you're looking pretty good. Let's look at your mental health.
- 15:48What could possibly cause this there's a few issues and mental health that can
- 15:52cause this, and we need to be aware of these issues. So right away,
- 15:56the first thing we're gonna look at a psychiatrist.
- 15:57Is there any anxiety or depression in going on, uh, in, in your, in your mind,
- 16:02shall we say in your life, of course, as human beings, anxiety, boy, well,
- 16:06that's gonna be across the board.
- 16:07Everybody feels anxious every now and then that's a normal human emotion,
- 16:10but is it getting to the point where it's clinically significant,
- 16:13where it's impairing you for moving forward? This is possible.
- 16:16People can have an anxiety that is impairing them from moving forward,
- 16:20meaning that they are so anxious that they can't even leave the house because
- 16:25they're so worried that something's gonna happen, that they can't get in a car.
- 16:27Cuz there will be a car accident. They don't wanna take a trip anywhere.
- 16:30God forbid they take a vacation because if they get on that plane,
- 16:34all of a sudden what's gonna happen.
- 16:35The plane's gonna crash right in their mind. Um,
- 16:38or they're not gonna get on a boat cuz the boat's gonna sink.
- 16:40When somebody has a lot of anxiety, generalized anxiety, nothing is good.
- 16:44And everything's a source of stress and good luck trying to convince them.
- 16:48Otherwise it takes a lot for somebody who's experiencing that to move forward.
- 16:52So sometimes we can see that people with generalized anxiety or very severe
- 16:56anxiety or specific phobias or things along those lines can have what we call
- 17:01analysis paralysis. They think about it too much. They're analyzing, analyzing,
- 17:05analyzing, and they paralyze themselves.
- 17:07I don't know if anybody's ever experienced this,
- 17:09say that you were studying for a test for school.
- 17:11And of course everybody's gonna get anxious. That's normal.
- 17:14That's a normal anxiety. That's not a clinical anxiety.
- 17:16I'm anxious before taking this test. Okay. So what are we gonna do about that?
- 17:20Well, we're gonna study, but you know what? This stuff's not making sense.
- 17:23The more I read it doesn't make sense at all. I'm getting more and more anxious.
- 17:26And as I get more and more anxious, what's happening, I can think even less.
- 17:30And it can get to the point where the anxiety's no longer productive because
- 17:33initially some of the anxiety can't be productive.
- 17:35If there's a fire in the room, I hope I get anxious and, and walk away.
- 17:39If I see a car coming my way,
- 17:41I hope I jump out of the street or outta the way of the car,
- 17:44wherever the car is because that anxiety's productive.
- 17:46But we can get to a point where the anxiety is so intense.
- 17:49I can't even think now, in fact, I need to study for this test,
- 17:52but I'm just too. I'm not even look at it. I'm gonna put it away.
- 17:54And the night before the test,
- 17:56I'm really gonna be anxious that anxiety's gonna go up. You know, that's that's,
- 17:59those are normal things. That's, that's a good anxiety to have,
- 18:01except for when it, it paralyzes me like that.
- 18:04So the good an anxiety's getting outta the car,
- 18:06the bad anx anxiety is when we get over that hump and there's, I'm so anxious.
- 18:10I can't even look at the material for the test that can happen.
- 18:12That can paralyze us. Is that what was happening to this man?
- 18:15Not really his anxiety wasn't anything other than the fact that he couldn't get
- 18:19things done. And then he felt anxiety. Then he felt like, gosh,
- 18:23I'm anxious because I can't get things done,
- 18:24but I'm not anxious wanting to get them done. I wanna get them done.
- 18:28I wanna move forward. I just can't move forward.
- 18:30There's this invisible block that I cannot explain. Okay,
- 18:34well let's look at depression and depression.
- 18:37We have something called psychomotor retardation.
- 18:40And what that means is the brain, the psycho part,
- 18:43the psychic part of ourselves and the motor part, the body part,
- 18:47they are not in tune. They are not in line.
- 18:50So if somebody does suffer clinical depression and I don't just mean that you're
- 18:53sad, but we can use that ex that, uh, example as well. Uh,
- 18:58but if somebody is suffering clinical depression,
- 19:00their body's just not moving their mind knows what they want to do,
- 19:02but their body's not moving with this. It's just not happening.
- 19:05I can sit on the couch all day long and I want to go get up and go to work.
- 19:10But my body's not responding or I just need to get up and go do a few,
- 19:13run a few errands, go take care of a few chores. My body's not responding.
- 19:17There's a, a clinical depression going on there. It's just not happening now.
- 19:21And this happened to people when they're feeling sad. Absolutely.
- 19:23Let's look at an example, say that you are mourning the death of a loved one.
- 19:27And if you're mourning the death of a loved one, well,
- 19:30how many times did we feel like doing anything? Somebody just passed away.
- 19:34I'm in the middle of grief. I'm grieving. I'm at home. I can't think much.
- 19:38I can't get anything done. In fact, people will tell you, you know what,
- 19:40take a few days off of work and do something because obviously you're not gonna
- 19:44be productive. That's to be expected. Imagine trying to go do some work or work,
- 19:48you know, to your full potential. When that, when this occurred,
- 19:52when the death of somebody very close to us, to us occurs,
- 19:55it's not gonna be easy.
- 19:56I'm not gonna be able to get my test and it's not gonna make sense.
- 19:59And we know that we know that all of a sudden I'm not able to move forward.
- 20:03I'm not able to be productive. I'm not thinking clearly.
- 20:05And I might just sit there in a vegetative type state where I don't wanna move
- 20:08that's normal.
- 20:09But when there's nothing preventing us from doing that or no inciting
- 20:14event, nothing happens that just comes on.
- 20:16And all of a sudden we can't move forward.
- 20:18I can't get to taking care of the tasks that I normally take care of done.
- 20:22That can be an issue. And all of a sudden we have a clinical depression.
- 20:26So for this patient who is telling me I can't get things done, I was thinking,
- 20:30wow, this sounds a lot like a depression.
- 20:32I think you might be going through a depression. And he said, you know,
- 20:35I'll trust you doc. I guess let's try it out. Okay. Maybe, maybe I'm depressed.
- 20:39Okay. So that was one thing that we were considering fully the anxiety component
- 20:44wasn't there, but um, the, the depression component was there.
- 20:47The other thing we need to consider is are you having any kind of attention
- 20:49deficit disorder? Can't focus, can't get things done. I get something started.
- 20:53I can't finish it. I move on to the next task and the next task. And I,
- 20:56I just can't get 'em done. So that's something else to consider.
- 21:00We gotta ask ourselves. Well, is there something blocking, um,
- 21:03this person from doing that in inattention deficit disorder could as very well
- 21:07do that now in his particular case, what I thought was,
- 21:10I think you're going through depression.
- 21:11I think you're going through depression and we need to address this issue.
- 21:14So we started prescribing a medication.
- 21:17Now this medication would've taken care of depression,
- 21:18it would've taken care of anxiety. Um, didn't really work.
- 21:22And we tried a different one didn't really work. And we gave it its full course.
- 21:26You know,
- 21:27we gave it a couple months for each of these medications to see if there was
- 21:29even any kind of an effect. Medications were good. He wasn't experiencing, uh,
- 21:33from one of them, he had a few side effects, some GI issues, his stomach,
- 21:37it kind of upset his stomach from the other one. It didn't, um,
- 21:40we tried to actually three or four medications and nothing seemed to even move
- 21:44in a particular positive direction where one would say, yeah, you know, gosh,
- 21:48okay, something something's working here.
- 21:50And there was really no change he's he remained the same. There,
- 21:54there was no change in his affect his attitude.
- 21:57And so we started talking about a few other things, ADHD.
- 22:00The more that we looked at that as, as far as attention deficit disorder, um,
- 22:05it wasn't, it wasn't anything really along those lines, it was just really,
- 22:08he just felt this block, this internal block and what really made me,
- 22:13uh, think about,
- 22:15we think we need to really start to consider the spiritual aspect of your life
- 22:18here is that he said, you know,
- 22:21after trying all these medications doc and doing all this, it I've come,
- 22:25you know, I've, I've stopped. And I I've asked myself what's happening here.
- 22:28What's going on? And I asked him, yeah, what did you come up with?
- 22:30Because obviously, um, we're not in his shoes, I'm listening to his story.
- 22:34It could be a few different things. And he said, when I wanna do this,
- 22:38it's like, there's a block in my heart.
- 22:41Like as I'm trying to get through my day, it's like, my heart is blocked.
- 22:45I don't feel so much in my head. I don't feel so much in my body,
- 22:48but I feel it in my heart. And that's interesting.
- 22:52We explored that a little bit more. And I said, tell me more about that.
- 22:54And he said, you know, it's kind of like when,
- 22:57when you have a player in a professional sport and he said, you know,
- 23:01some players they're gonna play and they're, they're doing it for the money.
- 23:05You know, they're doing it for the money it's business. They go in there,
- 23:07it's a job and they're gonna play for the, the highest, uh,
- 23:12bidding team.
- 23:13So whoever gives 'em the more money that's who they're gonna play for.
- 23:16And he said,
- 23:17but there's other players who come on the field and you see them running around
- 23:20and you see them playing their, their, their sport.
- 23:23And you realize that they really enjoy it. Their heart is in it.
- 23:27They got their heart in it. All of a sudden they really, really enjoying it.
- 23:30And you can tell man, this guy, he's, he's a joy to watch play,
- 23:33cuz no matter which team he plays with,
- 23:35he enjoys it so much that he's having fun.
- 23:38The crowd is having fun with him and it makes the, the game play that much more,
- 23:42enjoy enjoyable. He said, you know, that's that guy's playing with heart.
- 23:46He said, I don't think I'm living with my heart right now.
- 23:48I think this blog comes from,
- 23:50I feel like everything's just kind of a chore a business. If you will,
- 23:54I have to do it. There are a lot of things that I just have to do.
- 23:56And it's just, I feel this block in my heart. Well,
- 23:59we had to start to explore that. And I said,
- 24:01that's interesting because obviously I'm trying to treat your mind.
- 24:04Your body was fine. I'm trying to treat your mind.
- 24:06But now you're talking about your heart and this is where,
- 24:09where I started thinking. Now you're talking a little bit more about your soul.
- 24:12What's going on in your life. What's going on in your spiritual life.
- 24:14What's going on in terms of, um,
- 24:17is there anything heavy burdensome things along these lines and you started to
- 24:21share with me a few things, you know,
- 24:22we started to explore each individual relationship that he felt was a close
- 24:25relationship in his life.
- 24:27He wouldn't wasn't having any issues with anybody at work. Uh, per se,
- 24:30he was well liked at work. So with his wife, he was fine. You know,
- 24:33he said it was status quo. He said, a marriage,
- 24:35maybe boring sometimes is what he described it. As you know, he,
- 24:39he said it doesn't always have that excitement,
- 24:40but he had a couple kids and you know, with the kids, he said,
- 24:43it's hard to balance, you know, the attention from my wife,
- 24:46attention to my kids and going back and forth. And so that's pretty normal.
- 24:49That's, that's pretty normal in the marriages.
- 24:51Any risk of divorce or anything like that? He said, no, not at all.
- 24:54They would never even consider it.
- 25:21Alright, folks, welcome back to Virgin powerful radio.
- 25:24You are listening to the doctor, Louis Sandoval show as always.
- 25:27It is a pleasure to be here with you today.
- 25:30I have an interesting conversation today regarding what does it mean to murder
- 25:35and what are the consequences of murdering somebody? You know,
- 25:39we talk about different things in terms of what it means to kill what it means
- 25:42to murder. Um,
- 25:44obviously the most obvious one is you take somebody's physical life.
- 25:48Um, but I think a much more powerful meaning to the word murder is when you kill
- 25:53somebody's spirit, when we kill them spiritually or you know, and we,
- 25:58well actually, before we get to the,
- 25:59or we can think about that in terms of putting somebody down,
- 26:02making somebody feel less than getting rid of somebody's dignity.
- 26:05We can say that we killed them internally. And then there's another way to,
- 26:08shall we say, kill somebody or murder them. Uh,
- 26:11and that would be to just cut them off to just not speak to them anymore,
- 26:15to close all the doors of communication to them. And then that's it. You know,
- 26:19we don't, we don't talk to them. We don't speak to them and,
- 26:20and they're dead to us and we are dead to them. Technically speaking,
- 26:24there's all different kinds of death. Why is this important? Well,
- 26:28we're talking about a, a gentleman who I was helping out, um,
- 26:31interesting case where he felt that, you know,
- 26:34he couldn't move forward in his life. There was something wrong, uh, going on,
- 26:37he couldn't accomplish some of the most basic things to fulfill his life.
- 26:42He was trying to do work. He was trying to get things done and you know,
- 26:45at work he would eventually get things done, but he wasn't productive at home.
- 26:48He said everything was in slow motion. We evaluated in questioned.
- 26:51Does he have anxiety? Does he have depression?
- 26:53Is there something physically wrong with him?
- 26:55And there was nothing physically wrong with him.
- 26:56And as we were saying before the break, he said that there was a problem.
- 27:01He felt a blockage in his heart. He said his heart wasn't in it,
- 27:06his heart wasn't. And by it, he meant life. His heart wasn't in life.
- 27:09There was something going on. We went through his family members and you know,
- 27:12everything was looking okay. He was getting along with his wife.
- 27:16He was fine with his, with his kids. Uh,
- 27:18there didn't really seem to be anything going on.
- 27:20The only thing he did say was that there was a rift between him and his brother
- 27:24and that this has been going on for a while and that he knew he was right.
- 27:28And his brother was, you know, in the wrong,
- 27:31but they hadn't spoken for some time. They hadn't spoken in about two,
- 27:34three years. And he said, that was really the only thing, you know,
- 27:37nothing that he thought about on the daily basis.
- 27:39But it was something that was just kind of hanging out there,
- 27:42kind of burdening him a little bit. And we started with that and I said, well,
- 27:46where does you know, where do you feel that burden?
- 27:47Do you feel in your shoulders? Do you feel it in your head? He goes, no,
- 27:50obviously, you know, so we, we came down to the obvious,
- 27:53which we don't think about sometimes, but for him it was in his heart. You know,
- 27:56he said, no, I kind of feel that in my heart. I said, well,
- 27:57why don't we explore that? Because spiritually,
- 27:59it sounds like you're carrying a spiritual burden and that might be something
- 28:02that is keeping you from moving forward, what's going on.
- 28:06And so he said, you know, I feel a darkness. I feel a darkness in my heart.
- 28:10It's almost as if a person is there, um,
- 28:14kind of in a way telling me to hold onto this, to that,
- 28:17that I was that I shouldn't reach out to my brother. It's gonna be too hard.
- 28:21And that if I do reach out to him, what's the point.
- 28:23We're just gonna get into an argument and then I'm right. Anyway, um, he said,
- 28:26I feel like a, like, almost like a presence, if you will, uh, something,
- 28:30something, a heavy weight. Um, but really like, like there's somebody there,
- 28:34like, like something's holding onto something kind of, for me, you know,
- 28:38like I don't even have to hold onto to this point,
- 28:39something's holding onto this, to this, uh, rift to the anger, to the,
- 28:43to whatever it is that we're arguing about.
- 28:45I don't remember the specifics of the argument was something about, you know,
- 28:49difference of opinion on, on something. They started to argue about it.
- 28:53Each of them wanted to be right. Uh, neither of them wanted to,
- 28:57to relinquish any, um, acceptance of the other person's point of view.
- 29:01And he said, you know, he's just not seen it my way and I'm not it his way. And,
- 29:05uh, the argument was overall, I would say pretty insignificant.
- 29:08It wasn't anything that anybody would say, wow,
- 29:11of course you guys are arguing about that.
- 29:13It seemed pretty insignificant from the outside, but obviously on the inside,
- 29:16it was something that was tearing them apart.
- 29:18And it was something that was weighing heavy on this man's heart.
- 29:21What I found interesting is he said,
- 29:22I kind of feel the presence of somebody there holding onto this for me,
- 29:26kind of helping me, uh, hold this anger kind of helping me, um, you know,
- 29:32move forward. If you will,
- 29:33even though obviously the situation was that he couldn't really move forward in
- 29:37life,
- 29:37but they kind of move forward with this to kind of continue to journey with this
- 29:40anger. I thought that's kind of an interesting descriptor, you know,
- 29:43I didn't egg him on to, to describe that or, or mention that to him.
- 29:46He just kind of, as he was doing an introspection,
- 29:49as he was looking into his heart, just kind of very honest saying, you know,
- 29:53it's like it's there and, and there's a person.
- 29:54And I thought that was interesting because, you know,
- 29:57obviously when somebody is fully possessed or has something going on, you know,
- 30:02we see this in deliverance, obviously some there's a different presence.
- 30:05There there's a person there and not a, not a good person who we wanna say, uh,
- 30:09the, the demonic or an angel is a person as a person of an angel. Um, the,
- 30:13the fallen angel still there and, and has a certain type of, uh, uh, personhood.
- 30:18So we say, um, you know, personified, evil right. Is, is a Demonn or,
- 30:23or a fallen angel. That's personified evil. There's,
- 30:25there's a personhood to that. Um, and I thought that's interesting.
- 30:28And it made me think a little bit about the Bible readings.
- 30:31Let's read a little bit about murder in the Bible and what Jesus has to say
- 30:34about it. This is Matthew. Actually, we're gonna start,
- 30:36I was gonna start with Matthew chapter five, but let's start with a, uh, um,
- 30:39just before Matthew chapter five, let's start math well after chapter five,
- 30:42but there's an interesting reading. Let's start with Matthew chapter 18. Um,
- 30:47and in Matthew chapter 18 starts with verse 15, and this is what it says.
- 30:51I'm gonna read it straight from the Bible, says, fraternal correction.
- 30:54If your brother should commit some wrong against you,
- 30:57go and point out his fault, but keep it between the two of you.
- 31:01If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
- 31:04If he does not listen some in another,
- 31:06so that every case may stand on the word of two or three witnesses.
- 31:10If he ignores them, refer to the church, if he ignores even the church,
- 31:14then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector. I assure you,
- 31:20whatever you declare bound on earth shall be held bound in heaven.
- 31:23And whatever you declare loose on earth shall be held loose in heaven. Now,
- 31:27I think at this point, this gentleman was, um, you know, at the point where he,
- 31:32where Jesus said, if he ignores even the church, well, here's the thing, though.
- 31:35It didn't get to the point where they're ignoring the church. He didn't,
- 31:38he didn't get to that point.
- 31:39He just got to the point where there's something wrong against you.
- 31:41Go and point out his fault, but keep it between the two of you.
- 31:44If he listens to you, you won your brother over.
- 31:46If he does not listen some in another. So he didn't get to that point.
- 31:49He didn't get to the point of some in another,
- 31:51so that every case may stand on the word of two or three witnesses.
- 31:53There is just a battle between him and his brother.
- 31:55He didn't take it beyond anything which tells me that, you know,
- 31:59sometimes the arguments we have shall we say are petty.
- 32:01I don't want to belittle anybody's arguments or anybody's frustrations or what
- 32:05they're feeling. But sometimes they're petty in the eyes of God,
- 32:08shall we say to us, it's very important. But to him,
- 32:11it was just one of these things that, gosh, he says,
- 32:14one thing I say another thing. And based on that,
- 32:16I think I'm gonna hold onto that. We're gonna, we're just not gonna talk.
- 32:19It didn't get to the point where it was an issue with the church or anything
- 32:21along those lines.
- 32:22So this is an interesting reading because when Jesus tells us,
- 32:25if your brother ignores the church,
- 32:27then you treat him like you would a Gentile or a tax collector.
- 32:30I think that's pretty interesting. How do you treat a Gentile or tax collector?
- 32:33They're there? You acknowledge their existence. Um,
- 32:36you have to deal with them on a individual basis,
- 32:39but you're not always friendly with them. There's, there's a rift right there.
- 32:42You, you, there's still a relationship, but it's not a friendly relationship.
- 32:45The last part I assure you,
- 32:47whatever you declare bound on earth shall be held bound in heaven and whatever
- 32:49you declare loose on earth shall be held loose in heaven.
- 32:51I think that that's very powerful because then I wanna look at this next one.
- 32:56And this is Matthew chapter five, verse 21. I'm gonna read verse 21 to 26.
- 33:00And it says against anger,
- 33:02you have heard the commandment imposed on your forefathers.
- 33:05You shall not commit murder.
- 33:08Every murder shall be liable to judgment.
- 33:11What I say to you is everyone who grows angry with his brother shall be
- 33:15liable to judgment.
- 33:16Any man who uses abusive language towards his brother shall be answerable to
- 33:21this Sanhedrin. And if he holds him in contempt, he risks the fires of Gehenna.
- 33:27If you bring your gift to the altar and they recall that your brother has
- 33:30anything against you, leave your gift at the altar,
- 33:33go first to be reconciled with your brother and then come and offer your gift.
- 33:38Lose no time, settle with your opponent while on your way to court with him.
- 33:42Otherwise,
- 33:43your opponent may hand you over to the judge who will hand you over to the guard
- 33:47who will throw you into prison. I warn you.
- 33:51You will not be released until you have paid the last penny.
- 33:55I think that this speaks very true for this gentleman. Um,
- 33:59this whole passage speaks very true because this is where it comes down to.
- 34:04I mean, it's very simple. It's very, it's very simple,
- 34:06but very powerful in the spiritual world, in, in our everyday lives. We,
- 34:10you know, we hold onto these things. We think I'm justified in my anger.
- 34:13I hold onto it and it's okay because other people might understand
- 34:18because other people might say, of course, you're angry about that.
- 34:21The question is, what do we do with that anger?
- 34:23We just hold onto it and we're gonna hold onto it to what end at what point do
- 34:27we let it go? What does, what good is it doing us? You know, look,
- 34:30look at this and let me think about, let me let you break down.
- 34:34What I thought about the, the case for this gentleman says,
- 34:38what I say to you is everyone who grows angry with his brother shall be liable
- 34:42to judgment.
- 34:43Any man who uses abusive language towards his brother shall be answerable to the
- 34:47Sanhedrin. If you hold him in contempt, he risks the fires of Gehenna.
- 34:50So already, this is what Christ is telling us.
- 34:53I'm angry with my brother liable to judgment. And if I hold him in contempt,
- 34:59I risk the fires of Gehenna. The doors of hell are, are open.
- 35:03And I'm risking going through those doors. That's what's going on here.
- 35:07Little by little, this little argument turned into something pretty heavy.
- 35:11It turned into something where all of a sudden those doors are opening.
- 35:14Little by little. The risk becomes greater as time goes on.
- 35:17And then at the very end, this is what Christ says.
- 35:22If you don't take care of this before you get to the court, he says,
- 35:25lose no time. Settle with your opponent while on your way to the court with him.
- 35:29Well, folks who are all on our way to court, you know, on that, on our,
- 35:32on our last day here on earth,
- 35:33I'm gonna be presented to a courtroom and that I'm gonna gonna be judged.
- 35:38And I'm gonna be asked, what did I do? So lose no time,
- 35:41settle with your opponent while on your way to court with him. Right?
- 35:45So we're on our way to court. Him and his brother are both on the way to court,
- 35:48but it's just a matter of time. Have we settled? Have they settled?
- 35:51Otherwise your opponent may hand you over to the judge who will hand you over to
- 35:54the guard who will throw you into prison. Okay?
- 35:58I thought that that was probably the most powerful part of this,
- 36:01because this is where I think this man was, he was imprisoned.
- 36:05His heart was imprisoned and the guard was holding in prison there.
- 36:09Otherwise your opponent may hand you over to the judge who will throw you over
- 36:13to the guard who will throw you into prison.
- 36:15If we're looking at this in the context of Gehenna, who's the guard.
- 36:18It's not an angel, right? Because the Angel's not gonna throw you into prison.
- 36:23The guard's gonna throw you into prison.
- 36:24That means that you're not ready for heaven.
- 36:26You're gonna be thrown into the prison in hell.
- 36:28The guard's gonna be a Demonn that's who's guarding hell. So, and he says,
- 36:32you know, if you're in a prison, isn't that kind of like, gosh,
- 36:35there's something into my heart that I'm not letting go of. And I,
- 36:39I don't know why, but I, I can't move forward. It's like,
- 36:42I'm playing a game without heart. Like there was something going on there.
- 36:45He was feeling this heavy burden in his heart. I think his heart was in prison.
- 36:49I that's why, that's why I told him, I think your heart is,
- 36:51is in prison right now. I think your heartening, this heart it's in prison.
- 36:54And it says, I warn you.
- 36:55You will not be released until you had paid the last penny.
- 36:59I think at this point, if we wanna look at it from a spiritual perspective,
- 37:02you know, and since he said,
- 37:03it feels like there's somebody in my heart holding onto this, like,
- 37:06there's somebody there like a teammate almost holding onto this anger with me or
- 37:10for me, or letting me know that I can hold onto it. And I told him,
- 37:13I think that we're gonna have to go down the spiritual route.
- 37:15You're gonna have to release that because you're in prison and you're not gonna
- 37:19be released until you have paid every last penny. Well,
- 37:22let's you stick around after the break,
- 37:24we're gonna find out what happened to this gentleman and how he was released
- 37:28from this prison that he was holding onto, uh,
- 37:31because of what he was holding onto in his heart.
- 37:33More what we him back from the break.
- 37:49All.
- 37:49Right, folks. Welcome back to RK and most powerful radio today,
- 37:51we are talking about murder and possession. And how does that go hand in hand?
- 37:56Well, you've been listening to the show, you know,
- 37:59that I've been talking about a case where I helped a gentleman, um,
- 38:03really get back in tune with life is what it came down to. Uh,
- 38:07here's the interesting part. You know, he was arguing with his brother.
- 38:12We talked about that a little bit. We talked about what was heavy on his heart.
- 38:15And he was just saying that he felt a burden on his heart.
- 38:17He felt something heavy there.
- 38:19He felt something that he couldn't understand why he couldn't move forward in
- 38:22life.
- 38:23And he didn't think right away that it was related to his argument with his
- 38:26brother. But you know, it's one of those things where, um,
- 38:29little by little things can take over. If we,
- 38:32if we Harbor any kind of hate regret, anger, we want to be right.
- 38:36And we can't just let it go. Well, these things can happen.
- 38:41So when we talked about this and I said, I think,
- 38:43I think this burden with your brother is, is a big issue.
- 38:45I think this argument with your brother is a big issue.
- 38:47And initially he was kind of like, it's just not that big a deal. I mean,
- 38:50I know that we're arguing, but it's not that big a deal. And I said, well,
- 38:52you know, we've tried medication,
- 38:54we've tried a lot of really good medication and nothing seems to touch it.
- 38:57There's nothing physically wrong with you, but why don't you just try this?
- 39:00And this is probably the hardest part of the, Hm.
- 39:02I think you need to figure out a way to, how to, how to forgive your brother.
- 39:06Um,
- 39:07I wasn't too happy about that at first and not in the sense that he was angry at
- 39:11me. It was kind of more along these lines where he said, yeah, you know,
- 39:14I think I, I, I know that eventually I'm gonna have to cross that road,
- 39:18but I don't know that I'm ready to do that. And I said, well, you know,
- 39:22it's just something to consider. I said, we can keep trying medication.
- 39:25I think he seems to have touched you thus far.
- 39:27We can keep trying it and no big deal. Um,
- 39:30but he wasn't sure that that's the way he wanted to go until I said, well,
- 39:33you know, that's up to you that that's your option. Um, you know,
- 39:37there's not much I can offer you other than the medication and counseling,
- 39:40but really as human beings, this is where, where something's burdening us.
- 39:44If I have there's something wrong with my leg or there's something wrong,
- 39:46let's say I get injured. Nobody else can do the physical therapy for me.
- 39:50Somebody can be there to help me out and I can have cheerleaders telling me,
- 39:53Hey, let's get you some physical therapy and you know, we're gonna stand here,
- 39:56but nobody can do the stretches for me. I I've gotta do those stretches.
- 40:00I gotta lift the weights.
- 40:01I've got to do the exercises to get my muscles stronger or whatever it is my
- 40:05body needs at the time. Um, and unless I do it,
- 40:09unless I do the heavy lifting or the movement or the stretching or whatnot,
- 40:13the muscle, the, the area that's traumatized,
- 40:16the area that needs therapy or something is gonna stay that way.
- 40:19There's not gonna be any change. And so for him, he decided, okay,
- 40:23I'm gonna try this out. I'm gonna do it. Um,
- 40:26and he wanted my advice on how to do it. And I said, well, you know,
- 40:29I don't know that I can give you advice because I'm not part of the argument.
- 40:32But the only thing I would say is the best advice I can give you.
- 40:36Cuz sometimes when people want advice, they want answers. And I said,
- 40:38I don't know that I have answers. You know,
- 40:40the best advice I can give you is number one, do an examination of conscience,
- 40:45sit there and just kind of look at what do you feel is not going on, right?
- 40:48Spiritually,
- 40:49obviously we've been talking about your brother and wanna see what's going on
- 40:52with him, but what do you feel is not going on spiritually in your life,
- 40:57besides that? Is there anything else that needs improvement?
- 41:00Is there anything else that needs worked on?
- 41:02Is there anything else that's keeping you from, um,
- 41:04having a good relationship with God? Uh, and he said, well, you know,
- 41:08he couldn't tell at first he, he, uh, um, said, he'd try it out. And you know,
- 41:12he was Christian. So instead he'd try out, you know,
- 41:16just reviewing the 10 commandments, reading the Bible a little bit,
- 41:19seeing what God would put in his heart and what,
- 41:21what would speak to him as far as these are the things that are troublesome in
- 41:26my life. And so he started doing that and when he did, he said, okay,
- 41:29I think I know what I need to do. And I said, okay, well,
- 41:32what do you think you're gonna gonna do? And he said,
- 41:34I think the first thing I need to do is go apologize to my wife and my kids.
- 41:37And I said, well, what are you talking about? So I thought they, you know,
- 41:40I kind of surprised me a little bit. I didn't wanna say anything, but you know,
- 41:43just wanted to get his opinion as to why this was, I thought initially, oh,
- 41:47he's avoiding having to talk to his brother, you know,
- 41:50because that's really where the crux of it is. And he said, no,
- 41:53I think I need to start there for a couple reasons. He said, you know,
- 41:55because I've been holding onto this anger, uh, I've been holding onto this,
- 41:59to this frustration, to this argument with my brother. He said, I,
- 42:03I feel like I've kind of been neglecting my kids or,
- 42:05or my wife and not in a way that they would necessarily recognize,
- 42:08but they don't get the best of me. They I've been putting,
- 42:11I didn't realize that I was putting a lot of energy into not feeling this
- 42:16anger into harboring this anger into all the complexities of this anger,
- 42:20you know, trying to ignore it during the day, trying to make it not a big deal,
- 42:24trying to avoid talking to my brother. Um, and he said, that's,
- 42:28that's taken up a lot of energy that I didn't realize.
- 42:30And I haven't been there for my family the way I, the way I'm supposed to.
- 42:34So I said, wow, that's pretty, that's pretty insightful. He said,
- 42:38I think I need to do that first.
- 42:39And then that'll help me practice talking to my brother. I said, okay.
- 42:43And so he went ahead and did that. And he said that his wife at first didn't,
- 42:46you know, his kids really didn't get it. And they were just like, oh,
- 42:48we don't know what you're talking about, but okay. His kids were younger.
- 42:50And then he, uh, spoke to his wife and she said, oh, and she,
- 42:55he said, you know,
- 42:56I was glad that I spoke to her because actually she helped me out to see a few
- 43:00things that I wasn't recognizing that, uh, about myself.
- 43:03And she also helped me out with how to approach my brother and how to talk to my
- 43:06brother, you know? And so eventually he did, he did talk to his brother,
- 43:10came back. He said, you know,
- 43:11life wasn't perfect necessarily because nobody's life is.
- 43:14But he did feel as he was talking to his brother,
- 43:18the release from his heart of anything angry of anything,
- 43:22of any anger of anything burdensome of this,
- 43:25this sense that he couldn't move forward. He said,
- 43:27things are easier now is the way he described it. He said there was a release,
- 43:31like the door was open and things are easier is what he said. You know,
- 43:34kind of like something like the floodgates were open, like,
- 43:37like you open a door and all the,
- 43:38all the crud from the closet comes out and falls on the floor or something along
- 43:42those lines, you know, there's now open space. There's an emptiness there,
- 43:45a happy emptiness of all this bad stuff that just came out.
- 43:49And he said that it was important and it made him realize a few things. Um,
- 43:53he liked the reading after that.
- 43:55He said this reading from Matthew chapter five versus 21 through 26, uh,
- 43:59because he said that he could understand now, not so much,
- 44:02he said it kind of creeps up on you. He said,
- 44:04I didn't realize that what was happening to me inside is I was holding onto this
- 44:08burden, um, of this, of this murder, if you will, the way Christ describes it,
- 44:12not the way the world describes it,
- 44:13not the way the serpent described death in the book of Genesis,
- 44:16but a really spiritual, uh, uh, death, a, a very real murder,
- 44:21very real death in terms of what's going on spiritually and in our hearts.
- 44:25But the part, the part he said that really spoke to him,
- 44:27and that was the part that, um, that I,
- 44:31that he and I went over was this part about being handed over to the guard who
- 44:35will throw you into prison. And he said, at first I, whenever he read that,
- 44:39he thought, well, gosh, why would you just hand somebody over to the guard?
- 44:42And he said, what he didn't realize was, um, you know,
- 44:45the judge didn't have a choice. He said, because I wasn't giving,
- 44:47I wasn't giving God a choice,
- 44:48but to hand me over to the guard and to be in a prison. Um, and he said,
- 44:52but now I feel released. I feel released because I apologize,
- 44:55not just to my brother, but to my family as well.
- 44:58And it really made me think about a few things. When,
- 45:00when there's this kind of death,
- 45:02it affects so many people that we don't even realize. We think that, you know,
- 45:05us having an argument or,
- 45:06or holding something against somebody else is just between us and, and that,
- 45:10you know, that's my burden to carry their burden to carry, or, you know,
- 45:13until we figure it out, well, my life goes on,
- 45:16but this really brought to light for me, the,
- 45:18the reality of the community of saints and how we are truly connected. You know,
- 45:21he felt like he wasn't present to his family because he's holding onto this
- 45:25argument between himself and his brother. And now he's at the point where,
- 45:30you know, he's saying, gosh,
- 45:32I recognize now that this is affecting other people as well. It's like a death.
- 45:35You know, when we go to a funeral, we,
- 45:38it's not just like I go to somebody's funeral.
- 45:39And I realize that it was just that person affecting my life.
- 45:43And I'm really sad that they've passed away.
- 45:45But I realize whenever there's a funeral,
- 45:46there's a lot of people who get touched by each one of us that we might not even
- 45:50recognize. I mean, we might not even realize. Um,
- 45:53and if people are affected that way by each of us,
- 45:56they're gonna be affected in positive and negative ways. If there is a death,
- 46:00that death is not just gonna affect my relationship with that person,
- 46:03but it's gonna affect their relationship with everybody else. You know,
- 46:06if there's a death the way this is, if there's an argument,
- 46:08if there's a frustration, if there's an anger,
- 46:10we're gonna be carrying heavy burdens that. Yeah,
- 46:12we think that we're holding a grudge against somebody else and we're not gonna
- 46:15forgive them. We're not gonna, uh, let it go because I'm in the right, you know,
- 46:19and little do. I know that I'm carrying that, but as I carry,
- 46:21I'm gonna carry that with me. Even as I make interacting with other people,
- 46:25I'm not gonna give other people the best of me.
- 46:26And that that can be really challenging. Um,
- 46:29in life it can be really challenging for relationships.
- 46:32It could be really challenging in our wondering why we're not doing the best in
- 46:36our lives. Now in this man's particular relationship with his brother,
- 46:40it came down to, they just needed to hash things out, something.
- 46:43He said that they agreed to disagree on,
- 46:44but the fact that there was an open communication that they were at peace,
- 46:48that they weren't gonna push each other's buttons,
- 46:50that they were actually listening to each other and, and listening to man,
- 46:54this is really important. This really hurt you. And I'm sorry about that.
- 46:57That was the key. He said, he said it wasn't about me anymore. It was about,
- 47:01I could see where he was in pain. I could see where he was also hurting.
- 47:05And he said, I didn't even realize that. I thought he didn't care.
- 47:08I thought that he was just angry and didn't care. And, and the whole time,
- 47:10I mean, I cared,
- 47:11but I didn't wanna broach anything because I didn't want to get into that
- 47:15argument.
- 47:15He said there was something very beautiful about them being able to sit down and
- 47:18talk. He said, unfortunately, you know, there,
- 47:20there is a little bit of a rift still, uh,
- 47:22in the sense that even though they patched things up and things were together,
- 47:26he said, you know,
- 47:26it's gonna take a little bit of time for healing to take place because it's not
- 47:29like I can see him and pretend that all this time didn't happen.
- 47:32And that's where they were at. I've heard of other relationships where yeah,
- 47:35they make up and it's like, nothing happens. It's like,
- 47:37we're gonna put all this behind us and we're gonna start all over. And he said,
- 47:40the hard part was a trust.
- 47:41The hard part now is trusting that they they're gonna be able to talk and not
- 47:44fall into the same trap, not, you know, trusting each other to,
- 47:47to respect each other. And I thought that was interesting too,
- 47:50because if we notice in the fall of man, one of the things that changed,
- 47:54um, when, when, uh,
- 47:57Adam and E ate from the fruit of the tree and all of a sudden
- 48:02what happened to them, they ate it, their eyes, uh, their eyes.
- 48:06It says then the eyes of both of them were open and they realized they were
- 48:10naked. So they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
- 48:14If you listen to theologians on this, when this happens after this rift,
- 48:17they both send there's, there's been a rift here. You know, he's blaming her,
- 48:21she's blaming the serpent. They're no longer in harmony.
- 48:24Why did they have to sew these fig leaves together and cover themselves?
- 48:28Because there was a lack of trust because now they could not trust each other.
- 48:32They couldn't trust that you're gonna see me as I am.
- 48:35And you're gonna respect my dignity and vice versa. You know, they,
- 48:39they didn't feel that for each other. Now, now there's a vulnerability.
- 48:41They don't want to share because I can't trust that you are gonna see me with
- 48:45dignity. And that's kind of what happens with, with relationships.
- 48:48That's what happens with us when we have these long rifts,
- 48:50unless we can come to a full place where we say, Hey, you know what?
- 48:55I'm gonna let all this go. And I'm just gonna be vulnerable. That's,
- 48:58that's a very, very big challenge. When the communion of saints,
- 49:01when we get to heaven, it's gonna be, they always talk about heaven,
- 49:05being a great marriage between us and Christ.
- 49:07And it's gonna be a hundred percent vulnerability.
- 49:09There's not gonna be a need for clothing if you will,
- 49:12because we're gonna be totally visible to each other.
- 49:14But in the light of Christ, when there's this argument, when there's a death,
- 49:18just like Adam and Eve, they died spiritually.
- 49:21If I kill somebody spiritually in my life,
- 49:24all of a sudden there needs to be covering up. There needs to be distance.
- 49:27So what can we say, folks, what can we say about this?
- 49:29Was this man truly possessed? Yeah. In a way, you know, there there's,
- 49:33we allow ourselves to be possessed by different things. You know,
- 49:36not the Hollywood possession, the Hollywood possession,
- 49:38what you see in shows and things like that. That's pretty extreme.
- 49:42And I think that the reality is that's the possession hell wants us to see,
- 49:46but the,
- 49:47the more important possession or the little ones that we allow ourselves to fall
- 49:51into every day when we decide, you know what I think I know better.
- 49:54I think I'm gonna hold onto this anger. I think I'm not gonna forgive somebody.
- 49:57Um, because why would I let them have that?
- 50:00And we don't realize that we're really hurting ourselves.
- 50:02We're burdening ourselves. Once we get to the point where we say, Hey,
- 50:06you know what, I'm gonna examine my conscience. I'm gonna see where I'm at.
- 50:10It doesn't matter what anybody else is doing.
- 50:12I'm gonna put myself in a place where I want to be good with God.
- 50:15And if I'm holding something against my brother, well,
- 50:17I do not want to be in this prison. I do not want my heart to be in this prison.
- 50:21But the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna cleanse myself and I'm gonna get
- 50:25out there and I'm gonna apologize. And I'm gonna make things right.
- 50:28Even if they don't wanna make it right with me,
- 50:30but I'm gonna unburden myself so that I can be free so that I can move forward.
- 50:34And that I can say, Hey, I'm ready to make it into heaven.
- 50:38I'm not gonna allow anything evil into my heart or be possessed in any way
- 50:42because of my own fault and because of my own sin.
- 50:45And that is really the true freedom for us in the light of Christ in the
- 50:49light of heaven until next week. This is Dr. Sandoval saying stupid.
