  Russian Russian people are largely aligned with Americans

  on moral value now I've been preaching this

  since I met my first group of Russians

  years and years ago and they were you

  know the same as us and it was

  probably a little bit wow but I was

  very young and wow they're just like us

  and they think like us and they do

  the same things they love their families they're

  religious they you know like to have fun

  they like to talk they like to play

  board games they like to play chess they're

  good people you know and and I used

  to tell people when I would get back

  from my first impressions of the Soviet Union

  and then Russia in the 90s which was

  a shitshow pardon my French but you know

  if you had seen the shitshow of the

  90s in Russia you would understand why Vladimir

  Putin is not considered the Antichrist in Russia

  because truthfully if anybody helped pull them out

  of that horror story it was him and

  he had a lot of help and you

  know from other people and you can argue
• 10:35
  that there's a you know strict and you
• 10:38
  know you don't maybe their elections aren't what

  ours are supposed to be but aren't also

  I don't know I don't speak as to

  that but I do know that he has
• 10:50
  a very large percentage that are for him
• 10:55
  in Russia whether you agree with their election
• 10:58
  criteria or not and so I thought it

  was interesting you know I'll share this this

  article with you because like I said the

  Russians are aligned with Americans on moral value
• 11:13
  I think it's important to say this because
• 11:16
  a lot of places are not you know
• 11:18
  but they certainly aren't in Lithuania where I

  was a couple weeks ago I was like
• 11:24
  geez these aren't these are hateful people and
• 11:28
  a lot of Europeans are and I and
• 11:30
  I'm you know I'm not a hateful person
• 11:32
  so I don't appreciate that Russians and Americans
• 11:36
  share similar views on key aspects of their
• 11:40
  private life from relationships to having children outside
• 11:44
  of marriage set a poll by Russian Public
• 11:47
  Opinion Research Center the study released Monday compared
• 11:53
  moral values in the two countries using Gallup's
• 11:57
  July US survey with a parallel poll conducted
• 12:01
  in Russia it found a broad overlap on
• 12:04
  personal issues and sharp differences on more sensitive
• 12:08
  topics such as gender transition and newer social
• 12:14
  forms some 90% of Americans and 82
• 12:19
  % of Russians said contraception was acceptable views
• 12:25
  on premarital sex were nearly identical with 68
• 12:30
  % of Americans in 69% of Russians
• 12:34
  approving such practices Russians were more permissive with
• 12:40
  children born out of wedlock with 71 calling
• 12:44
  it acceptable compared to 67% in the
• 12:49
  United States fewer far fewer well not yeah

  I guess 10% fewer Russians view divorce
• 12:58
  as acceptable 65% to 75% for
• 13:05
  Americans okay so shall all can't speak sociologists

  say private life is increasingly seen as a
• 13:14
  matter of personal choice in both countries meaning
• 13:18
  you know you don't interfere with how other
• 13:20
  people are living and so that in Russia
• 13:23
  researchers are pointing to a shift toward individualization
• 13:29
  where people decide for themselves when to have
• 13:34
  children and who to live with and I
• 13:37
  think you know we're all fairly accepting of
• 13:39
  that on extra marital affairs 16% of
• 13:48
  Russians and 8% of Americans said they
• 13:53
  were acceptable now I can tell you some
• 13:57
  stories on that because I had discussions about
• 14:00
  it with some pretty high-level Russians and
• 14:03
  and I've done talked about it in Europe
• 14:06
  with a lot of people but you know
• 14:07
  what I don't think I'm gonna share that
• 14:08
  here on the show but I would argue
• 14:11
  that that number might be slightly higher than
• 14:15
  16% of extra marital affairs so polygamy
• 14:21
  and suicide were permissible by 21% of
• 14:25
  Americans but 11% of Russians on polygamy
• 14:34
  and 7% on the suicide the biggest
• 14:40
  difference emerged on same-sex relationships which are
• 14:45
  deemed acceptable by 64% of Americans but
• 14:51
  only 12% of Russians Russia has banned
• 14:56
  LGBT organizations and propaganda since 2023 attitudes were
• 15:03
  also divergent on teenage sex 41% of
• 15:07
  Americans said it was acceptable and 14%
• 15:11
  of Russians said it was acceptable I'm I'm
• 15:13
  on the Russian side on that one teenage
• 15:16
  sex you're not old enough to know what

  the hell you're doing and you don't need

  to do it well you know I suppose

  teenage but they we both kind of take

  the point of view that at 18 you're

  an adult you know but even then US

  opinion was split you know 41% said

  it was acceptable and 14% but geez

  51% rejected it all together in America

  so Russia is a society more willing to

  forgive personal weaknesses like infidelity but far less

  accepting of practices such as gender transition or

  same-sex relations so I thought that was

  settlement of the Ukraine conflict and insisted that

  Zelensky will eventually have to strike a deal

  with Moscow Trump has been pushing for direct

  talks between Zelensky and Russian President Putin to

  bring an end to this war claimed he

  would need to intervene personally to bring them

  together but talking to reporters on Tuesday as

  he was departing London Trump repay repeated several
• 17:13
  times that Zelensky is gonna have to make
• 17:16
  a deal Putin said he's ready in principle
• 17:18
  to meet Zelensky suggested the Ukrainian leader could
• 17:22
  travel to Moscow but Kiev rejects that idea
• 17:25
  saying it does not accept deliberately unacceptable proposals

  hmm at the same time the Russian president

  questions Zelensky's legitimacy we're not gonna go into

  all that okay let's see what else what
