Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. It's going on everybody and
- 0:15is Jeff Mosher and Adam kaplan Inside the Birds. Tuesday,
- 0:19Eagles had a practice. We want to get you all
- 0:22the intel on the developments because there were some at practice,
- 0:25and then we thought of it's a good idea. As
- 0:28training camp starts to wind to an end, we're going
- 0:29to go through the rookie the draft class this year
- 0:32and really go through the players and see where they
- 0:34tell you where they stand as we go down the
- 0:37stretch here at training camp. But yeah, lots of developments, Adam.
- 0:40I always say those first practices right after the preseason
- 0:44games is where you start to see the movement at
- 0:47the depth chart, and surely there was some movement going
- 0:50on at Monday's practice. So we'll get into that as well.
- 0:54Guts go through some injuries. First, what do we got
- 0:56on Jacoreyan Bennett?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, thankfully man it I mean if people didn't see it,
- 1:01he had a little bit of friendly fire where he
- 1:04bumped to a teammate with a forearm. You know, he
- 1:07left the game, didn't return, but thankfully he was not
- 1:10on the entry report and he ran with the twos
- 1:13on Monday, not with the ones. Yet he took one
- 1:15some yesterday last week, doesn't mean he won't today, which
- 1:18is Tuesday or Wednesday, in their final practice of training camp.
- 1:22And then we'll see what happens at the game. But
- 1:24you know they're gonna want to ramp him up more.
- 1:25They're gonna want to get him ones. That's coming. But yeah,
- 1:29that's fine. Thankfully that was big. That didn't turn out
- 1:31to be an injury, thankfully.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and listen, we'll get into this because you and
- 1:35I are both gonna be at today's practice. Correct You'll
- 1:37be yeah, oh yeah, and I'll be there, and so
- 1:40we'll get into this on another pod soon. But it
- 1:43is really worth noting. On Monday, there was as you
- 1:46talk about Jacorian Bennett, there was some movement there. Kuillie
- 1:49Ringo not only saw some time with the twos, but
- 1:52the threes and no time on the ones, which is
- 1:56a new development obviously. Jacoreyan Bennett, if you heard say,
- 2:00they're all going to get more. He wants to Corey
- 2:03and Bennett to get a fair evaluation. He wants to
- 2:05see him more. Just got here about two weeks ago,
- 2:09and you know they've had a bunch off days, so
- 2:10you're gonna see him get a chance. But Cooper de
- 2:13jen now taking outside reps at corner in base and
- 2:16Mac McWilliams also getting some first team weird.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not a good signe. I'm not criticizing Mac,
- 2:23it's just that's not was never their plan, right, they
- 2:26just gave it the answers to the test. You don't
- 2:28have to guess where they're at. They don't know who's
- 2:30going to start. They're not even close to knowing who's
- 2:32going to start. You know, we know Drey Jackson's taken
- 2:36the majority of them, of ones, not we're not talking
- 2:40eighty percent, but over half of them. So this is
- 2:43not good. This is not what they were thinking. That's
- 2:45not what anyone was thinking. But here we are. Here,
- 2:48we are in the second half of August, and they
- 2:50still don't know who's going to start, right opposite Quinnon Mitchell.
- 2:55That's one thing they know is Quineon Mitchell's a stud starter.
- 2:59But they've got a lot of eyes. And this is
- 3:01why Mac McWilliams, you can't say it's to back up
- 3:05to Dejeane at Nickel because they're trying to figure it safe.
- 3:08If he could figure it out to outside corner that's
- 3:10there was never their plan. But this is where they're
- 3:13at and it's not a good thing. Folks. We you know,
- 3:17we always to shoot you reel here. This is not
- 3:19what anybody wanted. Depth. There's not about how many players
- 3:23you have. It's about the quality of the player. And
- 3:25this is where we're at. It a cornerback opposite Mitchell.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, you heard vic Vic spelled it out. They're all
- 3:30kind of close. He's waiting for separation. He's not disappointed,
- 3:34but he certainly You listen when you hear him talk,
- 3:37when you hear him talk about a nine year cornerback
- 3:39like a Dori Jackson and say it's time for him
- 3:41to show who he is or who he isn't or
- 3:43he was going to grow. Yeah, like you just know
- 3:46that he's looking for someone to separate. So but there's
- 3:49there's still time before you have to push any panic buttons.
- 3:53But there there's It's not a great sign for Killer
- 3:55Ringo of all of the people in the group, but
- 3:58it's the worst sign for him.
- 3:59Speaker 2: It shows you once again, what if I call OTAs.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Oh you call them the double A's right, double.
- 4:06Speaker 2: A double a baseball. It's double a baseball. I'll be
- 4:09using that for five years. I just came up with
- 4:11it because I've been fooled so many times. It's kind
- 4:13of like when am I going to learn? It doesn't
- 4:15mean anything because you can't there's no physical play all
- 4:20the all the guy they could just run with each other.
- 4:22You can't really touch the player. But you get you know,
- 4:24if you're if you've got lant and good run, you
- 4:27look good. And Reguo had two good off seasons, and
- 4:29then you get to training camp. It doesn't seem to
- 4:32take very long untill he it doesn't look good.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Right right, like when it gets when when it gets real,
- 4:37you know right right?
- 4:39Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, you know it's it's like you go
- 4:41from double A that okay, the pitching gets better double
- 4:44A to triple in. He can't adjust to it, and
- 4:46then you get to the majors. He can't. He he
- 4:49can't adjust at all. So it shows you hipway and
- 4:52speed only gets it so far. Can get you drafted? Yeah,
- 4:55get you. You're intrigued by it. R S scores, But
- 4:58the tape is the tape we told you about the
- 5:00the stiffness for three years. It's not going away. Instincts
- 5:03are just not great Quinya Mitchell. The first day he
- 5:05steps on the field in training camp, once they got
- 5:08him out of Nickel, you see the instincts immediately. You
- 5:10see this kids special football player. And shame on those
- 5:13teams who thought, oh, he can play in man coverage.
- 5:17You know he did at the senior ball, but they
- 5:19were worried about the level competition. Bill Polling told me
- 5:22you always grade the player, not the jersey.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I remember that's one of the things I got for
- 5:28Bill over the years. And you know i'd peg him
- 5:30for I'd say, hey, give me, give me something. What
- 5:33do we look for? Because Bill had the pillars of evaluation,
- 5:38and he had like ten of them, and he looked
- 5:41there was never perfect. Sometimes you're gonna miss. Obviously you're
- 5:44not gonna get anything all the time, right, But too
- 5:46often people get like it's like with with Milton Williams, right,
- 5:51Louisiana Tech lower level college football. Well, because you typically think, oh, bad,
- 5:55bad coaching. They are not great coaching, But the tape
- 5:58was really good, right, And that's why the Eagles based
- 6:02on what they saw and that's why they nailed that one.
- 6:06Speaker 1: All right, we'll talk again more about that as we
- 6:09see more practice reps today and see what happens, and
- 6:11same thing on the offensive line and at safety. Offensive line.
- 6:15You're starting to see now, and we said this was
- 6:17going to happen. Terry and Kinnard got some work at
- 6:20first team left guard. Brett Toath started there. He's still
- 6:23getting the first crack at it. But you know, and
- 6:26we'll see as practice goes on. I just still have
- 6:29to squint very very hard to see Brett Toath being
- 6:32A on the fifty three and B being next man
- 6:35up if Landon Nickerson is not able to start at
- 6:38left guard. So we'll see.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I gotta tell you this is where I messed up
- 6:42in the off season. I never we knew Dickerson had
- 6:44a big injury history, but I didn't think would be
- 6:47this bad if you got hurt like Brett Toath is
- 6:51a great story of hanging in there. All the power
- 6:54to him, but he's not what we call league started.
- 6:56That's a term that scouts have used for years. He's not.
- 7:03And I know, look, they shocked us with the uh
- 7:07Drew Kendall thrown him in there in a game and
- 7:09left guard. That was like what what? Man?
- 7:14Speaker 1: What is?
- 7:15Speaker 2: I know they have great coaching, but man, this is
- 7:18where you just don't want Brett Toath to be the
- 7:22storying left guard. And how he's got thirteen draft picks, Well,
- 7:25we'll see what happens. Come what's a cutdown eight next Tuesday?
- 7:28From Yes, he's got thirteen draft picks.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Man.
- 7:32Speaker 2: How he's great at using me, super aggressive, he leves
- 7:34trading all these gms tell me he gets so excited.
- 7:38You kind of know when he wants something. It's he
- 7:39doesn't really beat around the bush, or he he he
- 7:44tries sometimes so he goes, oh, this guy's not playing,
- 7:46what do you want for him?
- 7:47Speaker 1: Kind of thing? You know.
- 7:49Speaker 2: But he's got thirteen picks for next year and you
- 7:52can't keep all of them, so we'll keep an eye on.
- 7:54Speaker 1: It, right, And of course it's safety good to see
- 7:56Andrew mccouba get the little bump work with the ones
- 8:00uh in the first practice after having a two takeaway
- 8:02game against the Browns and Vi vix right, you know, Vic,
- 8:06I love how he phrased it because I even wrote
- 8:08it like this for Philly Voice. It was a really
- 8:10bad pass by Dylan Gabriel and it was somewhat right place,
- 8:14right time for the fumble recovery. It's not like he
- 8:16jarred the ball out. He just happened to come out
- 8:18of the pack. However, so so Vick acknowledged, Okay, they
- 8:22botched it up more so than we made it happen,
- 8:26by the way, I know, I know, And he said,
- 8:28I love it.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I love this guy.
- 8:29Speaker 1: There's something to be said, he said, for you know,
- 8:31for making the play when it's there. And mccooba did that,
- 8:33and so he ran with the ones and you know,
- 8:35we'll see how those practices. And there's only a couple
- 8:38of practices left, I mean, just this week, and they'll
- 8:40close it after the game. What's the game Friday? This week?
- 8:43Speaker 2: Friday? Yeah, so today and tomorrow Thursday, walk through Friday
- 8:46game at the NYG Ye look at a couple of
- 8:49days off nyj Yeah. What did I say?
- 8:53Speaker 1: Gee?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, same stadium, same stadium. And by the way, they
- 8:58should be called in the Jersey Jets. It's ridiculous. They
- 9:00don't play New York but anyone.
- 9:01Speaker 1: They should separate themselves. It would be good. Yeah, they are.
- 9:04They are far more of a New Jersey. Well, I
- 9:05can't say that the New Jersey fanily is a little
- 9:07bit divided because the Jets still have that long Island
- 9:11faction for him like Queens and then you know Hofstra
- 9:14at all so I can understand why they haven't gotten
- 9:17rid of it. All right, that's for another show.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but real quick drew mccooba to me. It's even
- 9:24I know that for most of camp had been Sydney Brown. Well,
- 9:26it's because maccoba missed over a week of practice and
- 9:28then when he came back, he was he was limited
- 9:31and vic Like most older coordinators either side of the football,
- 9:37they don't They're not going to be pressured by the
- 9:39front office to play a higher graded or higher drafted player.
- 9:44He's going to play the guys who are not going
- 9:45to make mistakes. And if he thinks Maccooba is ready
- 9:47to go, he's going to start. That's that's just the
- 9:49way it is. But maccoba's closing in on it. He's
- 9:52not there yet. But this is a really good time
- 9:54his shott not just those individual plays. It's really smart
- 9:59guy processes real well. But it's it's not easy to
- 10:03miss wraps in camp because that's the best evaluator you
- 10:06get initially is in practice. Then you take it to
- 10:09the game.
- 10:11Speaker 1: All right, good stuff there. So that's the developments. Let's
- 10:13get into going through the draft class and seeing where
- 10:17they're at, giving people the intel on what to expect
- 10:20from this draft class. Before we do that, we're gonna
- 10:23hear a word from our great friends at Sky Motor Cars.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Sky Motor Cars and West Guess there's a different building dealers.
- 10:30All the tanks is one look with their highline pre
- 10:33owned vehicles and people all over the country what to
- 10:35see motor bredge Shoulder. Make sure you don't spend the
- 10:37time with your money before you purchased the car. Sky
- 10:40Motor Cars allows you to make all the decisions regarding
- 10:43your next vehicle. At sky Motor Cars, you never have
- 10:47to spend more than necessary because the Skymotorcars dot Com
- 10:50today are called sixteen nine one, eight seven five.
- 10:57Speaker 1: All right, you got to stop in the sky motor
- 10:59Cars out there and where Chester Pa. Get yourself. Reward
- 11:02yourself with the best car shopping experience there is. They
- 11:06have great inventory, great customer service, a wide variety cars.

- 11:25You'll be treated like royalty. And if you can't make it,
- 11:27that's why you go to Skymotor Cars dot Com. All right,
- 11:31the draft class first round pick thirty first overall. We
- 11:34know g Jahad Campbell. Look, things are going really well
- 11:38for him. I know he had a nice practice Monday.
- 11:40The athleticism is what separates him. Jeremiah Tronter Junior plays
- 11:44the position. This is no knock on him. He plays
- 11:46it really well. He knows exactly what to do. But
- 11:48you saw on that creeper blitz that Jahad had against
- 11:51the Browns. He is lightning, he is fast, He is
- 11:54here on fire, and if he makes fewer mistakes or
- 11:57limits some mistakes, he starts along side Zach Boy and me.
- 12:01There's that's it.
- 12:02Speaker 2: No questions asked, none. The first round pick fifth or
- 12:04and pick through the math. It's it's not even a
- 12:06discussion of personnel circles, like when you talk to people
- 12:09in buildings. It's like our first round pick plays when
- 12:12he's ready. There's it's just that's it. But it's a
- 12:16mental thing with him. It's it's where you've got trot
- 12:20in your who's who's a processor. He's just really good
- 12:23at it. But he's not the athlete that Campbell's. Cambe's
- 12:25much bigger physically. And now see, flash plays are great,
- 12:29but coaches will rather have consistency. That's the way you
- 12:32and I learned the game over the years. They're looking for,
- 12:35can you execute the play like you're supposed to. If
- 12:38you can't, you're not going to start. If you can,
- 12:40you add all the thump and the athleticism Campbell has,
- 12:43he'll be starting eventually. He's going to start, whether it's
- 12:46week one, five, seven, nine, whatever, And and it's going
- 12:50to be fun whenever it happens because this you so
- 12:52you've seen it in practice. Man, this dude is got
- 12:55he just don't see I LB's as Vic calls him,
- 12:59you like answers. And by the way, don't call it
- 13:02outside corner. According to Vic, there's no such thing.
- 13:05Speaker 1: It's corner and it's nickel, right of course.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Right, there's no such thing as an outside cornercause the
- 13:10guy's playing outside corner.
- 13:11Speaker 1: No, duh, that's right. There's edge and there's ILB.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Right, exactly right. There is no OLB. See right, OLB.
- 13:19Speaker 1: You might get your answers more. I'm not quite sure
- 13:22God's gonna play too at all against the Jets, but
- 13:25he does need reps. I know Victa says that if
- 13:27he does, it wouldn't shock me if it was one
- 13:29or two series and then then out. Yeah.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I don't think this should a lot. He missed the
- 13:34entire offseason. He really needs to agree he needs the reps.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I agree, it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't, just
- 13:41because this is the third game and you want to
- 13:43make sure you're healthy going into the.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Playing the second game against the WINGLA last year, because
- 13:46they weren't they like he was closing in on it, right,
- 13:49but and plus he participand the joint practice but he
- 13:52played so correct.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Did he play in the last one though? I don't
- 13:55think he did. And that was a guy who needed
- 13:57reps in that position too, But they weren't. They got
- 13:59to the point where they said, we're just gonna be
- 14:02all right with that.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Uh.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Mccooba. We talked about this is the second round pick
- 14:06for the Eagles. We talked about him. I think the
- 14:08versatility Adham. This is what really separates him. Not that
- 14:12and Sydney Brown's had a nice camp. Haven't seen him
- 14:14out of place. I can't say he's done anything poorly,
- 14:17but when you when you look at their skill sets
- 14:19and when you look at the way Vic rolls his
- 14:21safeties up and down, and you know, maybe even potentially
- 14:24playing inside if he wants to go man on a
- 14:27five out right and he needs that safety to come
- 14:29play the slot. That's where mccooba is going to give
- 14:31you that versatility.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah, he's just he's got much better cover skills. They
- 14:37draft him play safety. We know he could play nickel.
- 14:39He's not doing it here yet, so we'll see what happens.
- 14:43But he's another guy. It's just second round picks are
- 14:48expected to start when they're ready, and that's kind of
- 14:50where we're at. He's closing in on it, but you
- 14:51don't want it yet. He's developing. He's uh, And I
- 14:56like what grec o Selt told us. He goes man
- 14:58at Clemson, he played nickel really well. So just not
- 15:02just this year, but think next year if de Jean
- 15:05moves to safety full time, but Koba could be the nickel.
- 15:08No obviously they need, they need a corner. That's another thing.
- 15:12But this this secondary has got a chance with Quinnyon
- 15:15to be really, really good. And when is the last
- 15:18time it's been this young in this talent?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Oh, two thousand and four, I guess, all right, when
- 15:22you had Sheldon Brown and Ledo Shepherd and Dawk was
- 15:27the older statesman. He wasn't even that old in two
- 15:29thousand and four. He's probably like twenty seven at the time.
- 15:32I can't remember, but yeah, that's that's the last time
- 15:35it was this good and this young. It's been quite
- 15:37a while. Let's move on. They didn't have a third
- 15:39round pick. They had a fourth round pick on the
- 15:41defensive line. Listen, I liked what I saw from ty
- 15:44Robinson in this regard. He when he makes a mistake,
- 15:48he makes it at one hundred miles per hour. He
- 15:50shot a gap, he overshot a gap on his own
- 15:53against the Browns, and then he provided that cutback lane
- 15:56for who was what was the Brown's running backs name?
- 16:00Speaker 2: It was a Sampson, Well, it was.
- 16:03Speaker 1: A straight It was a was a name that I
- 16:05wasn't familiar with. That's why I kind of stuck out
- 16:08to me. Pierre Serre it was the other guy who
- 16:11got the earlier reps.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Dylan Sampson's the fourthront correction went up starting week one.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Wasn't even that guy.
- 16:16Speaker 2: They had another guy that Travion williams Akira for the Bengals.
- 16:19He had a bunch of he had some work remember
- 16:22thirty six, Yes.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, it might have been him. But either way,
- 16:26so you know, as as a zone defender, you have
- 16:29to you get that reach block, you have to go
- 16:31with it, go with it. You kind of have to
- 16:32two gap until the ball and then leave your block.
- 16:35But he left it too early, which created that bubble
- 16:38that the running back jumped into and got a big game.
- 16:42But that happens. It's okay, it's a mistake. But I
- 16:44also saw him pushing guys back yet using his hands,
- 16:47using that violence that he plays with, and I was impressed.
- 16:50I think he's certainly etching his way to get some
- 16:53time in uh like that. You know when they they
- 16:56go to their backup sort of pass rushing line at him.
- 16:58If if the opponent is going on a long drive
- 17:01and they convert a couple of third downs, then Vic
- 17:03starts to roll his second string and I can see
- 17:05ty Robinson getting home on that.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Well, it's either Gay he or Gabe Hall. Those are
- 17:09the guys that are above you know. That's it. That's
- 17:11pretty much.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, if you're giving both Jalen Carter and
- 17:14Jordan Davis a break or whoever a moro Joe Marbre Yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 2: That's it. You know that. That's that's where they're at.
- 17:20So he's developing. Uh, you get he might and he
- 17:23also might be a better game player in season because
- 17:25he's got incredible energy and he's got you can clim
- 17:29a multiple positions. He's not a no.
- 17:30Speaker 1: See.
- 17:31Speaker 2: The reason why I dropped it the fourth was is
- 17:34the body type. Yes, he's put some mass on, but
- 17:37the thing with him was is he He's not a nose?
- 17:40Is he? Is he a five? He's not a no?
- 17:43Is he a five? Techniques seven? He's not a nine?
- 17:46Definitely not a nine. You have to figure out what
- 17:48he is and that's why I dropped it the fourth.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, good player though he has the chance to
- 17:52sort of be like the way Milton and Morrow started
- 17:55off as a rotational piece and then maybe as the
- 17:58years go on, depend on what happens on the D line, Uh,
- 18:02work himself into a into a bigger role. But I've
- 18:04been I think that they've been happy with what they've
- 18:06said have to be. They've said they are, so that
- 18:08that's good.
- 18:09Speaker 2: All right.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Fifth By the way, Amani Marshall was the running back.
- 18:12Speaker 2: For the Brown Monie Marshall. Wow.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, he got some carries early in the game. Okay,
- 18:16all right, So fifth round pick. We talked about him
- 18:18a little bit. Mac McWilliams. VIC clearly sees something in him.
- 18:22You know, he's a shorter guy, but he's a very
- 18:25good athlete. And VIC is now working him on the outside,
- 18:28which is giving some other guys who I don't think
- 18:30are going to make the team a chance to work
- 18:32in the slot. That's Brandon Johnson, that's Perry Nickerson. You know,
- 18:36guys will probably be on the practice squad. But he's
- 18:38given Mack mac McWilliams an opportunity to showcase what he's got. Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 2: When McWilliams is hurt, that's when Brandon Johnson got his chance.
- 18:45And because McWilliams has been playing corner, Brandon Johnson moved
- 18:49up unfortunately got hurt with a groin injury. Yeah, so yeah,
- 18:52he he's got he's got corner and nickel possibilities here.
- 18:58He might play and dime when they played dime. Whether
- 19:01he start, whether he dresses each week, depends on the
- 19:04other the other corners and rolls and so forth, and smile.
- 19:07Monin's come on a little bit. He's did some good
- 19:11things of this game. He's progressing a little bit. The
- 19:14other fifth front boy they had three fifth Drew Kendall. Again,
- 19:18he's really a center. He could play guard if you
- 19:20need him to, but he's built to play center. Cincinnati game,
- 19:24he was really good. Now, this offensive line did not
- 19:26pass blockwell, didn't run blockwell. It was not good to
- 19:30say the least. Take your pick whatever you want to
- 19:32criticize him for their offensive line. But Drew Kendell is progressing.
- 19:35That's the key.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think if he had to play
- 19:38guard it would probably could they hide him a little bit. Obviously,
- 19:42you got Kim Jarrett Riggans. Next year, you're gonna double
- 19:44team blocks. Kim is gonna probably leave Tyler Stein to
- 19:48himself and then help out Kendall in both pass pro
- 19:52but also in combo blocks in the run if it
- 19:55works out that way, So you can probably, I don't know,
- 19:58you got a fee right. Do you go with him
- 20:01or would you go with like Matt Prior, who's played
- 20:03the position, who's bigger, a little more stout and ready.
- 20:05That's something Stotin we'll have to figure out. But the
- 20:09point you're making it is correct, is that he is
- 20:12a center. That's his main position, and if something were
- 20:15to happen to Cam Jurgens, you would like to see
- 20:17Kendall'll be able to step in there and hold the
- 20:19fort down.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Yep, if he need be a Kyle McCord. He threw
- 20:22the touchdown a little bit behind Smith, but Smith made
- 20:25the adjustment on in a great camp. He had good
- 20:27OTA's but it's not been a good training camp for him,
- 20:29so we'll see what happens with him. Miles Hinton is
- 20:32a developmental left right tackle that he Their hope is
- 20:35that will be the long term swing tackle. Really athletic,
- 20:41a lot of talent there, but he's very wrong. He
- 20:43needs time to develop. Cam Williams has got some work
- 20:46with the second. He mostly third in training camp. Some
- 20:48of the second.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Hard to see him making it the way he's practiced,
- 20:51and if he does, it's here a really developmental and
- 20:54they don't want to lose that, So I shouldn't say
- 20:57hard to see it, but hard to see him making
- 20:59it on merit, I'll say, I hear you.
- 21:02Speaker 2: And then Powell Ryland their last pick of the ten
- 21:04and their fourth sixth round pick. Very quiet for Antoine.
- 21:08Powell Ryland.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought I would steal. I thought we'd see
- 21:12a little more because he's such a known as such
- 21:14a technician, right, but maybe the fact that he's not
- 21:18like the greatest athlete in the world is really hurting
- 21:20him against you know, Eagles have some pretty good tackles.
- 21:22Speaker 2: So yeah, all third team. I mean I didn't in
- 21:27my notes, I don't. I don't remember seeing him on
- 21:29the second team if he did, find but it's been
- 21:32mostly on the second team. This is a developmental player,
- 21:35this is it was a down the line player. We
- 21:37knew he wouldn't play this season. That was not really
- 21:39in question coming to training camp, right, but with Ouche
- 21:43coming back, you know from two subpar years and Ojelari
- 21:47get off the slow starting training camp, you you hope
- 21:49that Powell Ryland would maybe push these guys. It hasn't happened. Actually,
- 21:52the story has been number forty eight, Patrick Johnson, He's been,
- 21:55I would.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Say, yeah, him and and the guy they got from
- 21:58the Browns. I don't know about Obo doesn't play great
- 22:00against the He's just smaller, but he's got some bursts
- 22:03around the edge. If he can play special teams. I
- 22:06think it's an interesting decision between him and Patrick Johnson,
- 22:09who we know can play special teams really well, and
- 22:11both of them really show you what they got in camp.
- 22:15To me, they're probably going to keep five edges. You
- 22:17know who the first four are, and then it's sort
- 22:19of a battle between Obo and and Patrick Johnson to
- 22:22be the fifth because I think at this point apr
- 22:25Is is looking like a practice squad player.
- 22:30Speaker 2: How he will keep how he will keep his draft picks. It's,
- 22:33you know, could all tend make it? Well, that's that's
- 22:36a tough thing to do. And then let's get to UDFA.
- 22:39There's been some interesting development so Montreal. Johnson came back
- 22:42from his injury. He right now he'd be the fourth back.
- 22:45He had a good six yard run. The others were
- 22:48just trying to get a field. Finding the hall shun
- 22:50Derek Palace to change up. It's highly unlikely he'll make it.
- 22:53Darris Cooper has been the Darling not only have the
- 22:55U da ud FA class, he's been phenomenal. Another really
- 22:59good practice day and the good thing is he could
- 23:03play his inside outside versatility. He's been he's been a
- 23:07training camp superstar. But it's legit. It's not the Hank basket,
- 23:10make it spectacular catchdownfield. He's doing just about everything. And
- 23:13plus you've tried on special teams.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yep.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Guy's been a pretty pretty good performer, no doubt.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Yeah, plenty of first team reps on Monday, which has
- 23:20been like the third or fourth practice in a row
- 23:22that he's been getting first team reps. I mean, this
- 23:24is not an accident. This is this is a guy
- 23:26who's got to be on the fifty three. I don't
- 23:28know at this point how off Taylor Moore and has
- 23:31been a nice story as a slot receiver. I don't
- 23:34I don't know that he's gonna make it, but he's
- 23:35certainly earned himself a spot.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I would think on the practice squad for sure. For sure,
- 23:41Charles Jackson had a couple of flashes, it's highly unlike
- 23:43he'll make it. Hollan Pierce is your typical developmental offensive
- 23:48lineman on a practice squad. Can't see him making it.
- 23:51He's got elite length. He's just got to get a
- 23:55kind of slim down a little bit work on technique
- 23:57and footwork. Lance Dixon flashed, Uh, don't because the IOB
- 24:02group overall. When when well, now that bond that bonds back,
- 24:08it's bond, it's Trot, it's Campbell, it's Mondon Junior. You
- 24:12don't need five. Dallas Kan is there, but he was
- 24:15there last year, so that that's you know, that's pretty
- 24:18much it there. Brandon Johnson, you know it's come on.
- 24:20But then he got Hurt and Max and Hook. He
- 24:23just hasn't developed to the point where I thought he
- 24:25might make it, at least push for a spot. They
- 24:28have a lot of safeties, you know. Overall, I don't.
- 24:31Speaker 1: He's an interesting player though, he's an interesting physical player.
- 24:35He has put some big hits on guys in camp
- 24:37when you're allowed.
- 24:38Speaker 2: He's got length, man, he's got really good size. He's
- 24:40a good practice squad. Uh kind of guy.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, something crystallized in my head before we
- 24:45get out of here that made me think you're absolutely
- 24:47right on something. When I was talking about those edges
- 24:51and how and I said, how how can they keep
- 24:53APR when they've got five or six guys. I am
- 24:55sure in how he's mind he feels like he can
- 24:58wave obo it would be a waiver.
- 25:00Speaker 2: No, it's he's vested four years or more. He's terminated
- 25:03the contract.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Okay, I'm sure he's thinking that he can get a
- 25:06guy like that on the practice squad to clear room
- 25:09to keep APR. Same thing, Yeator Johnson. Those guys don't
- 25:14have to be kept on the fifty three and then
- 25:16they can immediately be brought back on the practice right.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Because last year he did. Right because last year Patrick
- 25:21Johnson was subject to waivers because he didn't have uh
- 25:25he was not vested yet. Now he's vested. Yeah.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Yeah, so it'll be very interesting, as you like to say,
- 25:31roster tango going on at the cutdown day to try
- 25:34to keep guys who don't deserve it, then bring back
- 25:36guys who did deserve it.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Honestly, that's like Turse Marshall. That's one you know where
- 25:43that'll go down to the wire.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Yep.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I'm look, yeah, they've done that. How he's done a
- 25:50good job of it where you know you have good
- 25:52relationships with the agents. He say, listen, we want them,
- 25:55We got to keep our young guys. Let's get this done,
- 25:59you know.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yep. So all right, good summary, good summary there, good summary,
- 26:04and we're going to continue to have all the intel
- 26:06from practices leading up to the final preseason game on Friday.
