- 0:05SPEAKER_00: What's up, everybody?
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Welcome to another episode of the bottom line on sports.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: He's Jeremy Pink.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: I'm John Jacques Taylor, and this is our show about the intersection of sports and money.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Now you know how to get down.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: We need you to subscribe, rate, and review before we get started.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Only takes a second.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: We can use all your help.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Now that we've got that out of the way, we always like to start with a number.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: This week's number is This week's number is$2,635.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: Very specific.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, now if I'm a fan of Tampa or I'm a fan of Milwaukee, we've never won a World Series.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I gotta tell you, bro.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: If I got$2,600 to spend on a standing room only ticket, I got$3,000 to spend while I can get my ass in a seat.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: The standing room only tickets are going for about$26,000, 20, what is it,$26.35, I think was the least expensive one that I could.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: Well, actually, it was a fit, it was a single price.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: Um the sort of the nosebleed seats or the seats in the upper deck were going for around three.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: So the question really is, is it worth it?
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: And I think, listen, if you're in Milwaukee, um, although although Milwaukee's a very good team, people don't follow baseball, most people don't follow baseball closely enough to know Philly's a very well-run team, has a bunch of very great young players, is a you know, really kind of both of these teams, the Rays and the the Brewers, have kind of embraced analytics and sort of are kind of the you know the the vanguard new teams.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: And so, but but but if you're in Milwaukee, they haven't been to the World Series since 1982, so of course you're gonna go.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: You gotta go.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Um, to add on to your point, man, um Milwaukee led Major League Baseball with 103 wins.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Uh, I believe the Rays led the American League with 98 wins.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: So they got the two top seeds in.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say there's two best teams in baseball all year long over the 162-game schedule, which is supposed to eliminate all pretenders.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: And I taught I spoke to a friend of mine today who's a big fan.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Matter of fact, he's a Yankees fan.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Uh grew up in Brooklyn.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Uh, so he's a huge Yankees fan.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And we're talking about the series, and I go, dude, I think it's going to be a fantastic series because you got two teams that play the same way.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: 100% right.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Which is put pressure on the other team.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: There's not going to be a lot of strikeouts, not going to be a lot of homers.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: So it's going to be put the ball in play.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: It's going to be some great defense.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: It's going to be going first to third, stealing bases, suicide steals.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Is it big power?
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, isn't big power on either team.
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: I think it's going to be an incredibly interesting, well-played, close world series that not a soul is going to watch.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I will, I will.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: I will.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: The numbers won't be very good on this.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: The cities are small.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: There's no marquee players.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: Uh, you know, probably the best known player on both teams is Christian Yelich.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: Maybe Junior.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: Maybe junior Camanero on the on the rays.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: He kind of has kind of broken out a little bit this year.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: But I don't know.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: Maybe Jack Centurio.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: But but now mind you, I haven't watched, I don't think I've watched a full nine-inch baseball game all year, in part because the Rangers stink.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Um, but I'm really looking forward to this because what has been my major complaint about baseball for the last five or six years?
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's boring as hell.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and basically there's there's basically two outcomes strikeout or a home run.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, or maybe you walk.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Or walk, yeah, maybe, yeah.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: So I've grown, I can't stand that.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: It's boring to me.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I hate to sound like that dude, but I did grow up in the 70s and the 80s when you had, you know, Willie McGee and Vince Coleman stealing the hundred bases and Ricky Anderson stealing bases and Joe Morgan and playing the game.
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: Lou Brock.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Were you around for Blue Brock?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: You were around for Blue Brock.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I wasn't, I don't really remember Lou Brock.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: But there was a certain way you played baseball, and I really enjoyed baseball, playing it that way.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: And I can't stand this style now.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: So the fact that Tampa Bay and Milwaukee are playing and they play this style of baseball and they got low payrolls, I think it's funny, and I think it's uh it's good.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: And uh I'm going to tune in because October baseball is great because of the tension.
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: Baseball watching playoff baseball is one of the best things to watch on television.
- 4:56SPEAKER_03: Watching regular season baseball isn't necessarily that way, but playoff baseball is fantastic.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Like the tension and the drama.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: See, I can play playoff hockey where you never know which rush is going to result in a goal.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: So everything's exciting.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: Well, the the difference in playoff hockey to to playoff baseball is playoff hockey is much more of a crapshoot.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: You don't know, it doesn't matter if you're the first seed or the eighth seed.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: You're just kind of all in.
- 5:20SPEAKER_03: And if your goalie gets hot, you have a chance of going all the way.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: So no.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: So bottom line for me, I wouldn't pay 26 for standing room only, but I pay a hell of a lot more for a seat.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, but bottom line for me, fantastic.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: It makes me also makes me happy that the economy in Milwaukee can support uh people and fans who can pay two, three hundred two, three thousand dollars a ticket.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: I think it's good.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: How much beer are they going to drink in Milwaukee?
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: Oh my goodness.
- 5:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: It's uh it's gotta be.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: Look, if you're if you're a sports fan in that area, the Packers look good, uh, the Brewers in the World Series, and Wisconsin football doesn't stink this year.
- 6:02SPEAKER_03: So this is a great this is a great year for this.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: This is this is fantastic.
- 6:06SPEAKER_03: Now, let's I've of course I haven't mentioned the Bucks, but but still I mean you can't have everything.
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: You can't have everything.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: And it's it's unfair to ask for it.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Um while baseball season is nearing an end, basketball season just getting started.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: And I thought it was fun to look up, man.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Um two things.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Number one, and I gotta look this up, uh your boy LeBron James is uh 41 years old.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: And the funny thing to me is he's been the highest play player in the league for the last few seasons.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: And this year his salary ranks between uh Anthony Simmons at 6 million and LeBaron Phylon Jr.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: at 3.5.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: LeBron James, uh-huh, who has made more than half a billion with a B.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: In in actual NBA salary.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Just NBA salary, no endorsements at all.
- 7:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Is making$3.8 million this year for the right to play for the Philadelphia 76ers.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: He's making less than 1% of what he made his entire career playing for the Sixers this year.
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, but again, this is the even though the NBA says it doesn't have it, they have the equivalent of a salary cap.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: And this is what this is what happens.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: You know, good players end up taking less money to try to win a fifth, you know, to try to win, you know, to put it put himself in the best position to win his fifth title in his last, probably this year and next year are gonna be his last two seasons.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Um they opened up with a win over the defending champion Knicks.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: They look good.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Apparently, you came away impressed.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: I was I they look good.
- 7:55SPEAKER_03: They're they they they look good.
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: Now, is everybody gonna be healthy all year?
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: Um, but you know, they've got Tyrese Maxie, they've got uh Jalen Brown, uh, you know, they got your boy Joel MB.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: Um and uh and obviously they've got LeBron and then they've got you know edge.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Say again, they got edge comb.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: They got edge comb.
- 8:19SPEAKER_03: VJ's great, VJ's great, he's he's a great player.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: So here's the only thing to me that can like they look on paper to be you know a contender, and they are that's why LeBron went there.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Um they got two things to worry about.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Number one thing they have no control over, that's injuries.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: Joel and B's always hurt.
- 8:42SPEAKER_03: Health, health for sure, right?
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: And then uh LeBron at 41, he's going to be hurt it periodically during the season, and you can't ride him during the regular season so that he's got he's fresh for the playoffs.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: So he'll have a lot of uh what do you call those load management games.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, look, if they can if they can get one of the top four seeds playing playing LeBron and MB each between you know 50 and 60 games, they're gonna be in good shape come playoff time.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: The other thing that they gotta worry about is ego.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Because a lot of dudes on this team have been the man.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: And you can start with LeBron.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: He's been the man ever since he came into the league.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Now he has to be smart enough to know at 41, I could be the man, I could impose myself and be the man, but that's really not the way to get a championship coming into a brand new team.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Um, you got Jalen Brown, who wanted to be the man in uh Boston, which is part of the reason why he's now in Philly.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: And can you live with not being a man?
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Because this is Tyrese Maxie's team.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: He's a young guy, he's 45 years old, he's an all-star.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: It's his team.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: Watching last night, at least what I want in again, a sample, you know, a sample of it.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: So take it for what it's worth.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: Maxie was the best player on the floor last night.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Wasn't even wasn't even that close.
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Everybody else say, like, and this is my belief covering sports for 30 plus years.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: LeBron don't mind taking a back seat if he sees Maxie.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Number one is as talented up close as he looked as afar from afar.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: If he works like a superstar has to work to maintain his game, then fine.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: I can pass the mantle to you and I don't trip.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Jalen Brown, because he's coming to a new team, because he couldn't do this in Boston, but I'm in a new team.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Same thing.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: If he sees Maxie is worthy of this being his team, then they'll fall in line.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: And then I read something from Joel and B last night and it was very interesting to me.
- 11:04SPEAKER_03: I I knew exactly what you're gonna say, but go ahead.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Well, if he really means that and it really clicks on him, and they're winning, then he can really in his mind say, I can average 24 and 12 if I wanted to.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: But for the betterment of the team, I'll average 16 and 12 and play some defense, and that'll make us better.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: And so the reason this popped in my head, and this is not breaking news, but the reason it popped in my head is I read another quote this morning from that from from uh not that game, but from something else.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: And it was from VJ Edgecombe's agent.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: And his agent, not the player, but the agent.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Well, he needs a bigger role on this team.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: Like, dude.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: And apparently this is Russell Westbrook's former agent.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: But dude, like, you just started the season, game one, you just had a nice road win over the Knicks, and the only thing you can think of as an agent to say is my guy needs a different role.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 12:24SPEAKER_03: Well, that that's the danger when you have when you have you know players like that on the team, as you said, all those types of players.
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: I do think going back to LeBron's salary, that's crazy.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: LeBron should LeBron should be able to command whatever he he wants in the market.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: And to be constrained by the equivalent of a salary cap in the NBA, it's crazy.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: And it's this, it's the reason that you know, I would we were sort of texting beforehand.
- 12:52SPEAKER_03: It's the reason I think that Major League Baseball players are watching this and going, huh.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: If there's a salary cap in baseball, you can see some of the older players going, or players who are about to enter their prime and everything going, uh we're not having a salary cap because we don't want that to happen to me.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: I don't want that to happen to me.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: I don't want to happen to my teammates.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: We should get paid what our market value is, however, that market value is determined, but it shouldn't be constrained by a salary cap.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: And that's the way you have to look at it, that's the way you have to think about it, and that's the way you got to approach it.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: And uh to approach it any other way, um you'll screw you'll screw up generations from now because you know, once you have a cap, it's in there.
- 13:37SPEAKER_03: It ain't it's it's not going away.
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: It's not going away.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: It only becomes more restrictive, it ain't it's not gonna get loosened up, they're not gonna work with you later.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: And so if you don't have one, never it.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, it should really be never on my watch.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, think about it.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: It could have been you, it could have been somebody else.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: When they talk about politicians talk about or you hear rumblings about social security going away, and somebody told me, don't pay any attention to that.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I said, Why not?
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: And that person said, Nobody wants to take responsibility for being the party or the person who took it away.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I there's there's some element of truth in that, there's also a level of reality in that.
- 14:22SPEAKER_03: So I but again, not to argue about so not talk about social security too much.
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: What what will happen with Social Security is it won't go away.
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: The benefits will be cut 20 to 30 percent in order to to keep the the program going.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: What will happen?
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: But that's that's beside the point.
- 14:37SPEAKER_03: Quick question for you on LeBron.
- 14:39SPEAKER_03: Let's say LeBron and the Sixers win the title, win an NBA title this year or next year, assuming he plays two years this year or next year.
- 14:49SPEAKER_03: That means he'll have won with the Heat twice with the Cavs, with the Lakers, and then with the Sixers.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: It's got to be the best player of all time, then, right?
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: I mean I mean I don't want to have that, I don't want to have the LeBron LeBron.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: We're not gonna have an argument because here's the deal.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: And the reason I don't indulge in this conversation with other people ever.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's it's because if you think Michael Jordan is the best player ever, the GOAT.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: Nope, no one's gonna convince you otherwise.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: There's nothing that anybody could ever tell you otherwise.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: If you think LeBron is that guy, there's nothing anybody could say to change your mind.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: And so on a conversation like that, I just let it go.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Um but I think they're both great.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: I think you can both appreciate each one.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: I think they got different skills, uh personalities, and skill sets.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: But if you can, I mean, if you can win a championship with five different teams, four different teams.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Four different franchises.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: I that's pretty damn incredible.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: That means at various points of your career.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: You may you may be the world's greatest teammate, you know.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: But uh it's it's I really have a hard time coming to grips with the amount of hate people have for LeBron.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: I love LeBron.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: I he's it's uh it's insane to me, man.
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I don't I don't get it.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: I don't I I've never I never understood it.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: I don't mean a guy's never been involved in a real scandal.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just he he appears to be a family guy.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: He's got this I mean it's just wild that uh I don't get it.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't get it.
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: And but but by the way, also if there's one player in the NBA who should be paid above and beyond every every other player, it's Lebron.
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: You know, there's there's there's a reason that the NBA waited to announce its schedule until they waited to hear where LeBron was.
- 16:46SPEAKER_03: There's a reason the 76ers are playing the Knicks on the first night.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: It's partially about the Knicks, it's actually much more about LeBron than it is.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: Much more about LeBron.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: And so he's he's he's clearly worth it.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: And it's it's uh I I do think the the the fact that he's paying that, uh he's being paid that just indicates I think salary cap ultimately is a bad thing for for it.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: It's just a bad thing.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: No, and so the bottom line for me, man, is uh I'm glad to see LeBron back for yet another season.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: But let this be a warning.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Don't ever give in uh on a salary cap baseball.
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: You're right.
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: That's exactly.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: But my bottom line is very similar.
- 17:25SPEAKER_03: It's it's it's great, it's gonna be fantastic to watch the 76ers play this year.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: Um, but uh it's a shame that LeBron's only getting paid that amount of money, and it's a shame that there's a salary cap in place.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: And baseball, look the World Series right now.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: You have two low salary teams.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: If you want to do that, you can you can play great baseball that way.
- 17:50SPEAKER_03: There's no need for a salary cap, in my opinion.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: You know, uh we both read an article this week and it seemed blasphemous to me.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: But Dan uh Wetzel, well-respected uh sports reporter, he put out something that said that made sense.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: He said, what if um because they're going to a 2014 playoff, what if teams like Ohio State and Michigan decide, why do we why do we need to split our money a million different ways when we can do like Notre Dame, we can be our own entity, make our own deals, and keep all our cash ourselves.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Why should we have to split everything with 27,000 teams in a Big 12?
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: We can just split it with one, me.
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I thought, and I he he tweeted that out.
- 18:39SPEAKER_03: And I have to say, you know, what what's amazing about that is if you were to talk about Notre Dame as recently as probably eight or nine years ago, there was talk about how Notre Dame may not actually be able to compete and survive unless it was in a conference.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: And it turns out, to your point, because of the 2014 playoff, what is it, what does it matter what conference you're in anymore?
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: You know, if you you know, only the only thing that matters is being able to schedule teams that can actually are or you're actually competitive with, you know, that you can you can determine uh you know that that these are the best teams in the country.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: I think what's gonna end up happening is there's gonna be some sort of I I I think the the world of 18 team conferences like the Big Ten has, and the however many are in the SEC these days, I think that goes away.
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: I think what you're gonna have is you're gonna have a you know the equivalent of like an NFL or equivalent of like a league, and maybe you have 60 teams in, you know, you have 60 teams in the first flight of teams, and 24 of those make the playoffs.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: And then maybe what would even be better is if like six of those are relegated every year, like the EPL.
- 19:56SPEAKER_03: I think if you did something like that, I think then you can create a level of interest.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: And what also happens with doing something like that is that one of the criticisms of the 2424 team thing is you know, the regular season gets diminished.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: But the regular season doesn't get diminished if you create something like that.
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: So that that's sort of the solution that I think seems to make sense.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: And that's I think where it's headed.
- 20:18SPEAKER_03: Because um, but but Wetzel may be right that you know it makes a lot of sense for Ohio State's clearly the number one draw in uh on television and college football.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: And Ohio State could also say to you know any other team, hey, if you come onto Ohio State television that airs every every Saturday at 7:30 at night, if you if you play us, yeah, we'll give you a couple million to play us.
- 20:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's gonna be worth it to a lot of teams.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: No, I think uh I think you could see something with there.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm gonna dip back to what you said.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: How would relegation work?
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Because you're gonna have a bunch of teams that are two and eight, a bunch of one and nine.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: I mean, you're gonna have multiple teams that are tied.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Would you do it strength and schedule or how do you pick the 24?
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: How do you pick the 24 teams?
- 21:09SPEAKER_03: You know, same way you picked the bottom six.
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: I think you have uh yeah, I think you have a level of yeah.
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: I mean, I think you have sort of the same conversation there that you do about the top 24.
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: I really do.
- 21:22SPEAKER_03: I think it's this is my solution to make college football work.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: You're damn right.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: The relegation show would be just as entertaining as can you imagine if you were, you know, can you imagine if like your rival had like a couple of had like a really bad year and was on the cusp of getting relegated?
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: Are you kidding?
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: You you know how you know how or or there were two teams that were playing one another and the loser was very likely to get kicked out of the the top league and whatever whatever the top division is called.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean you got teams.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: I think we have cameras on it talking about yeah, you know, we're numbers fifty nine, we're number fifty eight.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: I'm telling you, I'm telling you, this makes sense to me.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: And I don't know if it's 60 teams.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: I just made that number up.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: But I think you have to make it so that, you know, if it's 24 teams, so maybe it's maybe it's 70 teams, maybe it's 72 teams, you know, whatever it is.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: But you make it so that, you know, making the playoffs is still hard, but it's it's attainable.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: But you gotta you gotta play hard.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: You gotta, you know, make your your your regular season matter.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: And maybe then you create a more specific set of criteria to measure whether or not you're you know a playoff team or whether you're not one of the or whether you're one of the bottom teams.
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: I I just think there's something there.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: Wow, that would be wild, man.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but it it's going because all of this is driven by money.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: And so it's it's always about now how can I make the most amount of money?
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: And you know, Notre Dame is a standard because they don't have to share anything with anybody.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: And now they got this sweetheart deal where if they're in the top 12, ranked in the top 12 of the country, they're automatically in the tournament.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, that seems ridiculous to me.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: Um, but uh, but that's what they've worked out for themselves, and so yeah, they held well, they held they held uh you know the CFP hostage until they they agreed to that, you know.
- 23:22SPEAKER_03: And that's by the way, by the way, that's one of the reasons they didn't get into the uh uh the playoff last year, is because everybody was so angry at them for you know negotiating that deal that they figured this is the gonna be the last year is gonna be the last year they get to to kick Notre Dame out.
- 23:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_03: But listen, let me tell you something.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: If Notre Dame loses to Miami, they shouldn't be in the playoff because they didn't play anybody, you know?
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: And yeah, but they're gonna say they lost to two top ten teams on the road.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: You know, yeah.
- 23:53SPEAKER_03: Although Miami doesn't look that great either right now.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: But uh uh I think it was funny.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: They got they got promoted to number one.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure who else should have been, but Florida State is no good, and they needed a Hail Mary miracle to win that game.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: So uh their offense is good, but the defense is a little shady in that game.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: And they've had uh, you know, you know, it may be they may be looking forward to the game because they they're not really tested.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: They're two two touchdown favorites in every game they play.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that that's all that's also true.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: I mean, I I you know I think the look, I think like the five best teams right now are still probably um Miami, Georgia, Ohio State, Indiana.
- 24:38SPEAKER_03: Then maybe Notre Dame.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: But I I don't think I don't think there is a I don't think there really is any.
- 24:45SPEAKER_03: It's it's hard, it's hard to make the case for for for a lot of the other teams.
- 24:50SPEAKER_03: Maybe Mississippi.
- 24:51SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Well here's what I here's what I think.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Um it's that this is what the NIL era has has brought us, which is there are no perfect teams.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: Every team is flawed, because the thing that made you not flawed was the big boys, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, whomever, Jeremy Pink and Jacques Taylor get hurt, they got two more five stars behind step right in.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Now, those two that stepped in, one of them is starting at uh Northwestern, and the other one is starting at Georgia.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: And one of them's starting at Louisville, which is a whole other thing.
- 25:29SPEAKER_03: We'll talk about it a little bit.
- 25:30SPEAKER_03: We'll talk about that in a little bit.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's a perfect example, yeah.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: Um, which I find it crazy.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: Uh again, we'll get into in a minute, but so no team has perfect depth anymore.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: And so if you get hit with an injury at the wrong spot, and then all these other cats are playing, and so it's just a lot more even, there's a lot more talent distribution, which means there's a lot more good teams, but a lot less great teams.
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: Well, what and what might happen is if it's this is so perverse, I hadn't thought about this.
- 26:02SPEAKER_03: If the Ohio States and the Notre Dames and the Wolverines and the big name blue blood programs decide, hmm, we should go independent because we can get more money, then college football will revert to what it was because those will be the only programs are going to have enough money to pay, uh, you know, to pay their athletes.
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: And it might end up reverting back to the blue bloods if the uh if these schools go you know independent.
- 26:29SPEAKER_03: Uh and so I I don't think it's I don't think it will happen largely because of largely because the the the lifeblood of the industry is still all the TV deals and all the media deals.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: And I I don't see how there's just gonna be too many different deals to negotiate between Ohio State or or Notre Dame or USC or whoever whoever the team is.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: Um so I I don't think it's gonna happen for that reason, but I do think college football is gonna change.
- 26:58SPEAKER_03: And I think the conference, the power in the conferences is gonna go away.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: Um, and it's gonna go to um, and I think it's gonna be, you know, the other the other potential solution to this is you kind of make it like the NFL and you just have, you know, 10 regions of eight teams, you know.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: So they kind of and so I think all everything that's old is gonna be new again.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: You're gonna go back to conferences organized by region, maybe.
- 27:27SPEAKER_03: Um, and then I think the money is gonna flow back into the blue blood programs.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: I think it's gonna be I I I I think it's just but I think it's great, by the way, because you you we don't know what's gonna happen.
- 27:37SPEAKER_03: But I if it were me, I would make it a huge 80-team conference with real criteria about who makes the playoff and relegation for six to eight teams so you can get new blood in the program and new blood into the uh relegation would be great.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: Uh bottom line for me, I like the nostalgia of uh the Big 12 and the Big Ten and the uh SEC, but it sure feels like it's going away.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but but but bottom line for me is that once the 2014 playoff is in place, which is in twenty, it looks like almost certainly going to be next year, I would say as look to the expiration of a lot of the conference media deals as catalysts for even more upheaval in terms of alignment in college football over the next five years.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: And that, my friends, takes us to Ohio State, our favorite segment of the week.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: Um I found it interesting.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Like, I was mad at Julian Sain's performance against Indiana before he got hurt.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: I was like, dude, you're holding on to the ball too long, you're missing throws, you're not accurate, you're this, you're that.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: But I personally never said you should bench him.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: A lot of uh a lot of my uh my brethren did.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: Well, then he got hurt, and so now you gotta go with an unproven quarterback named Faye or an unproven quarterback named St.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: Clair.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: And I have no idea how it's gonna turn out.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: I would I do remember 2014 when JT Barrett went down, and I was like, wow, season's over.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: And then uh who else was the other quarterback who went down?
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: Oh Cardell Jones was a guy who um boy, I guess it's terrible.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: I can't even remember.
- 29:35SPEAKER_03: It's not terrible.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: But Cardell Jones came in and saved the day.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: And I even remember when uh I remember when Haskins made his debut.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: Somebody got hurt, and Haskins came in and drilled a ball to Austin Carr or somebody for a first down or like third down, and it was here's the here's the Haskins error.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: So maybe we'll get one of those where you know, because Braxton Miller.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: I can I can't believe I, you know, Braxton Miller.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: I can't believe I forgot that too.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, I know, because he's I still think he's one of the best Ohio State players ever.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: But uh but yeah, it's it's a moment, and we'll see what happens with it.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, I look, I I I think the um, you know, we were talking about the quarterback at Louisville, it's a guy named Lincoln Keenholes now, who's having a good year.
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: This was five, six years ago, Keenholes would still be on the team.
- 30:29SPEAKER_03: And they would have they would have a backup, they would have a backup like you know, a JT Barrett who was backing up Raxon Miller or like a Cardell Jones who was backing up uh uh uh JT Barrett, because you could you could have the depth on the team.
- 30:46SPEAKER_03: And I can tell you right now, if Keenholes was a backup right now, you wouldn't even worry about it.
- 30:51SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't even think twice about it.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: No, but you know, the same thing is that Texas behind Arch Manning are a couple of redshirt freshmen who've never played, right?
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: And that's what NIL has brought us because yeah, whoever loses the competition, if you're a big blood program, you're bringing in five-star quarterbacks, whoever loses the competition goes, okay, I didn't get this competition for whatever reason.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: I'm going over here to state you and start.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: And so that guy's not staying, and nor should he, you know, in today's world, he's going to get paid.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: Let me see, I can be a backup and make two or three hundred thousand, which is great.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: Well, guess what?
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: I can go start and make a million and a half.
- 31:35SPEAKER_03: Of course.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: You're good, you're gonna you're gonna start every time.
- 31:38SPEAKER_03: And yeah, so so I'm of I was, you know, we we talked about this before the season started.
- 31:44SPEAKER_03: I didn't think Saiyan was the quarterback who was gonna lead them to the national title.
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: I just didn't.
- 31:51SPEAKER_03: I thought there would be some sort of quarterback issue by about this time, bye by this time, you know, in the season.
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: Um, it's a shame that the guy got hurt and he wasn't getting benched.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: He just wasn't getting benched, you know.
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: I I don't I don't see I didn't see that happening at all.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: Um, and you know what?
- 32:09SPEAKER_03: One of the reasons he's not getting bench bench, Jock, it's because their backups aren't very good, you know, or their backups aren't ready yet.
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: You know, you could you could bench a guy if you got a good backup.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: You're not gonna bench a guy if you don't have a strong backup.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: If you don't have a proven backup, a proven backup, that's fair.
- 32:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: Everybody loves fans love it.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: Fans, I mean, I've been covering football for 30 plus years.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: Fans love the backup quarterback because he's never played.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: It's always about hope, and you're mad at the starter.
- 32:37unknown: Right.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: Well, there's usually a reason why the backup is the backup and starter is the starter.
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 32:43SPEAKER_03: It's like, you know, I I advise a handful of businesses and I advise some small businesses, and sometimes small businesses have a trajectory to grow, but the majority of time, small businesses are small for a reason.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: That's that's just what they are, you know, and backup quarterbacks are backup quarterbacks for a reason.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: That's that's just what they are.
- 33:01SPEAKER_03: And college is different because you do have you know young players in who haven't played at a college level yet.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: And look, I I think that the best thing that happened to Ohio State was the fact that you've got two weeks to prep for USC.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's that's really that they have a they have a bye week.
- 33:21SPEAKER_03: And you know, if you are now I'm a big Tavian St.
- 33:26SPEAKER_03: Clair fan, even though I know very little about him and I've actually haven't seen him play at this level.
- 33:31SPEAKER_03: But I just thought when Ohio State got him, I'm like, oh wow, he could be he could be the guy.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: Well, he fits everything you want.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: He's five star, he's six four, he's two twenty.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: But you know, but you you had said to me at one point, like, it's not like Ryan Day in the coaching staff doesn't know what they're doing.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: There's a reason Luke Faye's the backup.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: No, like there really is.
- 33:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there is.
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: And he's gonna be the back, he's gonna play.
- 33:53SPEAKER_03: And for all we know, he could, if he's in a position where the the game plan is tailored around him, he knows he's the starter, he's got two weeks to prepare.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: Maybe you put a package of plays in for St.
- 34:08SPEAKER_03: Clair, but you you that that's uh and I I can't imagine them doing anything else.
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: Uh and so I think I I actually am one of the other things we've learned is that now we know everybody knew how great Jeremiah Smith was.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: Now you know how now you know how great Jeremiah Smith is because I think that he may he makes everybody look a lot better, including the quarterback.
- 34:33SPEAKER_03: And I remember we also Signetti, somebody asked Signetti before the game, how do you stop Ohio how do you stop Jeremiah Smith?
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: And he said uh you hit the quarterback.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: And you know, it makes sense.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: Um quarterback is always the head of the snake when it comes to offense, and that's how that's how you take an offense down.
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: Um, it'll be interesting to see how they attack.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: Um but you know, in this situation, man, you know, you have to convince the quarterbacks, and it's it's harder than it sounds.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: You have to convince the quarterbacks like all you have to do is all you have to do.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: Meaning you ain't gotta do a whole lot.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: You gotta hand the ball off and do all the little things and don't lose the game.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: Meaning, don't turn the ball over and don't make stupid plays, just don't lose the game.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: Because we got enough talent out here, if you'll just do what the game asks you to do, we'll be okay.
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: If you start trying to force things and make things happen, we'll have problems.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: But if you just take the check downs, take the short throws, oh, they left him single.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm gonna take a shot here.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: We'll run the ball, we'll play good defense behind you.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: You ain't gotta do it all.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: You just can't lose the game with mistakes.
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and Ohio State's defense, um, even though they they they couldn't uh they couldn't handle one of uh Indiana's receivers, but uh the Ohio State's defense is is gonna be good enough to handle USC, although USC has a couple uh one very good receiver.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: Um but Ohio State can handle Ohio State's defense is gonna be capable of handling USC.
- 36:13SPEAKER_03: And USC's defense isn't that good.
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: So uh, you know, to have two weeks to prep, you get a new guy in against a defense.
- 36:19SPEAKER_03: I mean, they're not terrible, but but they're not they're not a traditional like you know, Iowa or or Michigan or now I guess Indiana defense.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: Uh they're they're they're a below average Big Ten defense, and the you know, the the Ohio State, I have to I'm I'm actually not particularly worried about Ohio State uh for the next few games, but uh I could be wrong.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: That would be you, uh because I haven't seen the guys play.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: Uh it won't take long to me to see, and this is the only thing I I concern myself about, and I'll go back to 2016.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: Tony Romo gets hurt, Dak Prescott replaces him.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: Uh fourth round pick, Mississippi State, hadn't seen him play.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: And all I remember thinking in his preseason debut, not even the regular season, was because again, I've seen enough of these of this thing.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: I go, oh, oh, the moment's not too big for him.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: He's good.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: I don't know how to play, but it won't be because the moment was so big he just got overwhelmed and you know was doing a bunch of Harry Carey stuff.
- 37:23SPEAKER_03: Um, so I I remember that his preseason was what one of the best preseasons I've ever seen.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: And so that's what I'm looking at from this game.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: It'll be the first quarter against USC.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: It'll be does the moment seem too big for him?
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't really count what happened to Indiana.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: You didn't expect to play, they throw you in there at winning time.
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the game is going 200 miles an hour.
- 37:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: But now whoever's in there, you got two weeks to prep.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: Is it too big for you, or do you feel comfortable?
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they'll be okay.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: They'll be fine.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: I you know, it's like they are, you know, at the end of the day, they're recruited by Ohio State.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: They're competing against they're competing against some of the best players in the country.
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, every every week.
- 38:11SPEAKER_03: Uh, they there's it's a quarterback room where you have probably, you know, St.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: Clair and to your point, St.
- 38:18SPEAKER_03: Clair and uh Luke Fehey could probably start at about 50 schools in the country right now.
- 38:24SPEAKER_03: They're gonna be they're gonna be okay.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: Is it gonna be what saying is it won't be?
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: Um, will it be that dramatic of a difference?
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: Uh maybe, maybe, but but I don't I I think they're gonna be okay.
- 38:36SPEAKER_03: It was there was a it was a few years ago, Ohio State had a quarterback, and I I I can't recall exactly what it was.
- 38:43SPEAKER_03: Remember, Ohio State had another quarterback injury early in the season, and I remember thinking they're gonna be fine.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: You know, I just back when we had five-star backups.
- 38:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, that's true, that's true.
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: But but you know, these are the thing is now that we have well, one of the two is a five-star backup, but you have a five-star backup, he's just 18 years old or 19 years old.
- 39:01SPEAKER_03: That's the problem.
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: So you know, it's uh there's no gimmies, uh, despite what you say.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: There's no gimme's on the schedule.
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: There's no no, I'm not saying there's gimme's, I'm not saying there's gimme's at all, but I I'm not I'm not as I'm more worried about Ohio, excuse me, I'm more worried about Ohio State losing than I was with Julian Saiyan, but I'm not like, oh my gosh, the world is ending worried.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm uh I'm anxious to see how they play.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: It should be a fascinating thing.
- 39:31SPEAKER_00: The bottom line for me is trust in Ryan Day and what he does at the quarterbacks because he has a track record.
- 39:41SPEAKER_03: Uh bottom line for me, I think they're gonna be okay.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: Uh and I think actually that Luke Fahy might surprise us and be just fine.
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: But I'm not 100% convinced that's the case.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: Second bottom line for me is you and I talked about buying plane tickets to LA for this game.
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: I'm glad we did.
- 40:06SPEAKER_03: I was looking, I was looking at the prices of tickets.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: You can get tickets for tickets are not as expensive as you think they would be.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: Oh, one question I didn't ask you.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: Uh, does Indiana win this weekend?
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: They got Michigan?
- 40:18SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they'll win.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: But I'm telling you, and this is this, I could see this happening, and I knew it was gonna happen.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: Michigan will be much better with Carr at quarterback because Carr will just what I said about the buckass quarterback.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: Carr will do all the little stuff he's supposed to do, he'll throw the ball wherever he's supposed to do it, he won't lose the game.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: If a receiver is open, he'll hit him.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: If he's not open, he won't hit him, but he'll do all the stuff, and then you saw what happened when he came in.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: His teammate said, Oh, like you'll throw the ball to the open guy, and it'll get there on time.
- 41:02SPEAKER_03: And he won't play hero ball or anything, yeah.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: And all of a sudden, their defense is always good.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: Now all of a sudden, you're like, Yeah, man, we score 21, we good.
- 41:13SPEAKER_03: The the only con I'll give you a two-word caveat to that.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: The only two-word caveat to that.
- 41:18SPEAKER_00: What's that?
- 41:19SPEAKER_03: Penn State.
- 41:20SPEAKER_03: That's the only caveat I'll give you.
- 41:21SPEAKER_00: So yeah, do that.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: Uh uh, so yeah, we'll see what like Indiana's really good.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: And um, I would expect, but I think Michigan's defense is always good.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: And so I would expect this to be one of them 21-17 games.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Um, but Indiana's really good, but I think they'll figure out a way to beat Michigan.
- 41:44SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: I think I think Indiana should win.
- 41:47SPEAKER_03: Um, I think I think Indiana should win.
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: I don't even know where that game is.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: It's at it's uh at the big house.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: So I don't think that matters anymore.
- 41:55SPEAKER_03: Uh loud.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it it it doesn't.
- 41:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, uh it really doesn't.
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: Uh that that'll be by the way, that'll be that that's the game I'm most interested in watching this weekend by far, if anything on the college uh schedule this weekend.
- 42:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm gonna check it out myself.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: All right, everybody.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: Hey, we appreciate you.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: He's Jeremy Pink.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: I'm Josh John Shaq Taylor.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know who you are.
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: We'll see you next week.
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: Rate review, five stars only.
- 42:27SPEAKER_03: Thanks, everybody.
