- 0:14Speaker 2: Warning. The following podcast contains graphic content and material intend
- 0:20Speaker 2: more mature audience. The listener discretion is it. Do you
- 0:43Speaker 2: have drinks?
- 0:43Speaker 1: The ready totally do?
- 0:46Speaker 2: Clink clink.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It was a last minute decision for me to get
- 0:48Speaker 1: a drink. I don't know why.
- 0:50Speaker 2: It should never be a last minute decision. It should
- 0:53Speaker 2: just be an always decision to have a drink, especially
- 0:55Speaker 2: when we're podcasting. I know, is it Wicked and Grim
- 0:58Speaker 2: without a drink?
- 0:59Speaker 1: No? I was like literally just sitting here, kind of
- 1:01Speaker 1: being born with a glass of water, and I was like,
- 1:03Speaker 1: what the hell am I doing?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah, gotta get I gotta drink, Gotta get the sip.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Out, so smearing off ice again.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got me some iced tea and whiskey, or
- 1:15Speaker 2: I guess for our southern friends, because we've got lots
- 1:18Speaker 2: of those, all of y'all. It's sweet tea and whiskey.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Oh sweet tea, yeah, because it's it's but our iced
- 1:25Speaker 1: tea in there. It's different though.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they're sweet tea is our iced tea and their
- 1:30Speaker 2: iced tea is like our legit iced tea with like
- 1:34Speaker 2: no sugar.
- 1:35Speaker 1: It's just right, okay. That's I'm like, I'm confused because
- 1:38Speaker 1: I've gone and I ordered iced tea and like I'm like,
- 1:42Speaker 1: this isn't what I wanted.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a little bit different.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I would be okay with it now probably, but when
- 1:48Speaker 1: I was younger it wasn't. But now I really like tea,
- 1:51Speaker 1: it would probably be fine. Yeah, but back then I
- 1:53Speaker 1: was like what it was. I don't know if I
- 1:55Speaker 1: can drink it.
- 1:56Speaker 2: That sweet tea is definitely a little bit better in
- 1:58Speaker 2: my opinion.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's probably not as good for you.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Touche go one. What is good for us? Though? What
- 2:06Speaker 2: the bomb we are dropping?
- 2:08Speaker 1: We have a few bombs we do.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Let's start with the big bomb.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Are we ready for this?
- 2:12Speaker 2: It's the f bomb? Fuck no, it's not.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It's a cast a cast. What's a cast?
- 2:20Speaker 2: A cast is when you're fishing and you throw out
- 2:22Speaker 2: the line into the water. It's a cast.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Okay, But it.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Is also a podcasting network that we have officially been
- 2:29Speaker 2: signed with, So you guys, because of all you amazing
- 2:33Speaker 2: people out there, we are officially a signed.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Podcast which is wild. It's crazy because we've been doing
- 2:40Speaker 1: this for only seven.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Months, I think something like that.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and like never in our wildest dreams did we
- 2:46Speaker 1: think that we have would have come this far.
- 2:49Speaker 2: No yet, I mean we hoped, yeah, like maybe like.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Maybe like three years. Oh, I guess we have different three.
- 2:56Speaker 2: To five years. It would like maybe one day, like
- 2:59Speaker 2: we could have some sponsors or something.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Like here we are seven months later and we're hooking
- 3:05Speaker 2: up with acasts and they're going to hook us up
- 3:06Speaker 2: with things like sponsors and all that sort of stuff.
- 3:09Speaker 2: And it's all because of you guys. So we are
- 3:11Speaker 2: moving forward with some incredible stuff right now.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, because our Wicked Ingram family is dope. Yeah, it
- 3:17Speaker 1: is like I'm not biased, not at all, and I'm
- 3:20Speaker 1: like obsessed with you guys.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It's you guys are pretty fucking cool. Thank you, Thanks,
- 3:25Speaker 2: thank you guys. So what's going to happen? Basically, we're
- 3:28Speaker 2: going to get some sponsors on board. We're also going
- 3:31Speaker 2: to be able to work with other podcasts on the network.
- 3:35Speaker 2: The network is going to help us maybe improve our
- 3:37Speaker 2: analytics because most of you guys are listening on Spotify.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I think only like three percent of Our listeners are iTunes.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Which is Apple Apple Podcasts.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Apple Podcasts used to be iTunes, which is crazy because
- 3:49Speaker 2: they're another big player in the game. So they're going
- 3:51Speaker 2: to help us try and get more people from that
- 3:54Speaker 2: platform listening. So it's going to be a good all
- 3:57Speaker 2: around thing.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I'm excited.
- 3:59Speaker 2: And we're also going to be doing something else alongside that.
- 4:01Speaker 1: What is it Patreon?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, we're Patreon.
- 4:04Speaker 1: We're going to get it like, look at us, go here,
- 4:06Speaker 1: It's like, what the hell are we we're doing?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Ye expect that coming down the pipe. Patreon is going
- 4:14Speaker 2: to be uh up and ready for you guys. Whoever
- 4:16Speaker 2: wants to sign up, maybe get some free behind the
- 4:18Speaker 2: scene content logs. I don't know, extra episodes, whatever, it
- 4:22Speaker 2: may be.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Lots of shit. Really, I have tons of ideas. I
- 4:24Speaker 1: can't wait.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It's going to be awesome.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It's going to be freaking dope. It's going to be wicked,
- 4:29Speaker 1: wicked like the wickedly lily wickedest that is.
- 4:34Speaker 2: That's the word of the day, wickedly latelist smooth.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah. And then we also are finishing off a documentary.
- 4:46Speaker 2: We are right the Highway of Tears. It's it's called
- 4:49Speaker 2: Why We cry.
- 4:51Speaker 1: It's a sad title, it is, but it's a good title,
- 4:53Speaker 1: it is.
- 4:54Speaker 2: But the entire point of it is you and I
- 4:57Speaker 2: live in Prince George, British Columbia, which is the head
- 5:00Speaker 2: of the Highway of Tears leading what is it north
- 5:04Speaker 2: east west? Okay west? I had to do my never
- 5:06Speaker 2: each Okay.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I was just doing that too, or never eat what
- 5:10Speaker 1: is a soggy wiener?
- 5:11Speaker 2: So that one's perverted.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I don't like that one. Yeah, that's great.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Heads over to west, the west coast and it ends
- 5:18Speaker 2: up in Prince Rupert. There is a long stretch of
- 5:22Speaker 2: highway where many women have gone missing over the course
- 5:24Speaker 2: of the last few all couple decades, a lot of
- 5:27Speaker 2: indigenous women, yea. And we as residents of this area
- 5:32Speaker 2: don't know much about it, and I.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Kind of is not good.
- 5:36Speaker 2: It's not and I want to beg that question. Why
- 5:38Speaker 2: don't we know more? So that's kind of what we
- 5:40Speaker 2: explore in this documentary. And we are wrapping up filming
- 5:42Speaker 2: really quick here and we're in the editing process. We're
- 5:45Speaker 2: already our bit, but a little more to go. So
- 5:47Speaker 2: that's coming down the pipe real soon.
- 5:49Speaker 1: For you guys. Yeah, I can't wait for it to
- 5:51Speaker 1: air and like just to myself watch it too and
- 5:55Speaker 1: just have it see it all come together. That's really exciting.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It is. But we can't just aired on our own
- 6:00Speaker 2: because we are going through tell Us with that we
- 6:03Speaker 2: are we got a grant through grant Yeah, yeah, so
- 6:06Speaker 2: we have to deliver it to tell us. They will
- 6:09Speaker 2: put it out and so we have to wait for
- 6:11Speaker 2: them and they're okay for us to show it to
- 6:13Speaker 2: you guys, but it will happen soon.
- 6:15Speaker 1: So yeah, and even if it's not through us, it
- 6:17Speaker 1: will be out there. I'll tell you at some point.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I assume as it's available, we'll let you guys know exactly.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah. And then on a personal note, just tiny little
- 6:26Speaker 1: personal meulta next, everyone's always like it is about a
- 6:30Speaker 1: tiny thing. Everyone's always asking about a tiny home. And
- 6:34Speaker 1: so we have the week off this week and we're
- 6:37Speaker 1: so we're slowly actual already.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Moving shit into it slowly.
- 6:41Speaker 1: But that's kind of what I wanted to do. Yes,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I want it to be slow. Hopefully we'll have a
- 6:45Speaker 1: garage sale this weekend, so if you want to buy.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Our ship stuff on buy We've got some bowls.
- 6:54Speaker 1: So oh, we got a lot more than just bowls
- 6:56Speaker 1: all day.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got some margarita glasses.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah, because we're going to just drink at a Mason
- 7:01Speaker 1: jars be like hipsters. Is that a hipster thing? I
- 7:04Speaker 1: feel like it is.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Well, I think technically originally it was like a redneck
- 7:08Speaker 2: hillbilly thing, or like originally because like drinking in the
- 7:11Speaker 2: moonshine the jars and stuff. Right, Oh okay, it was
- 7:14Speaker 2: a moonshiner thing.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Are we he'll redneck hillbillies?
- 7:18Speaker 2: I do think we have some moonshine in our cupveroed
- 7:20Speaker 2: right now.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Or maybe like a tiny bit that. Yeah, I don't know.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I think we're redneck.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:26Speaker 2: What else we sell? Maybe a husky or two? Oh yeah,
- 7:29Speaker 2: if you want to buy a rip lea stop.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Are actually for sale or just for free, we'll pay you.
- 7:34Speaker 2: If you want to take a dog, we will give
- 7:36Speaker 2: you money to take one.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Okay, this is all jokes. We're obsessed with our dogs.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I think people probably know that. Yeah, but yeah, they're
- 7:42Speaker 1: not for sale. But yeah, we're gonna have a groageo
- 7:43Speaker 1: this weekend. So yeah, I wanted to move into the
- 7:46Speaker 1: tiny home slowly, and we kind of are. But I
- 7:48Speaker 1: think there's gonna be like a crunch time where it's like, yeah, well.
- 7:51Speaker 2: That the official dates moving in on us. We only
- 7:53Speaker 2: have a couple of weeks left, so yeah, we got
- 7:55Speaker 2: some stuff to get done on the tiny home and
- 7:57Speaker 2: the move, but we'll be in there sooner and later.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's sweet and you'all asking for tiny home updates.
- 8:02Speaker 1: We just threw that in there.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Who whoa, whoa Did you just say y'all?
- 8:06Speaker 1: I actually do say y'all sometimes I think in conversation,
- 8:09Speaker 1: don't I I don't know, Well, I'm starting it now.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Wow.
- 8:13Speaker 1: And I also say a a lot or hey.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Hey a hey, I say a lot when I'm swearing
- 8:20Speaker 2: a lot.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Don't we even say a lot differently too?
- 8:26Speaker 2: About that's what you're thinking? We say about weird.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I don't know. There's other things.
- 8:31Speaker 2: We're Canadian. That's all I know.
- 8:32Speaker 1: That's all. Yeah, that's all we know. That's all we know.
- 8:34Speaker 1: That's all. We're here for.
- 8:36Speaker 2: What we are going to do, though. We're going to
- 8:38Speaker 2: slow this intro down because well, maybe not slow down,
- 8:40Speaker 2: we're going to speed it up. Okay, there we go,
- 8:42Speaker 2: because we got to get into this case. This is
- 8:46Speaker 2: oh my god, a crazy case.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'm almost nervous.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I have not done this much research on a case
- 8:52Speaker 2: since the very first episode.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Do Out Look Past Real.
- 8:57Speaker 2: It is, oh my god, so much out there on this,
- 9:01Speaker 2: and it trying to weed through all the information because
- 9:04Speaker 2: a really big thing I noticed when researching I'm not
- 9:06Speaker 2: sure if you've noticed the same. When we're researching a case,
- 9:09Speaker 2: Google usually pops up with like the first few pages
- 9:12Speaker 2: of Google is generally recent news articles, which just skim
- 9:17Speaker 2: over the information and it's very bland the same thing.
- 9:22Speaker 2: So trying to find that deep information can be hard
- 9:25Speaker 2: sometimes unless you go like Reddit or something like that.
- 9:27Speaker 2: But and this was the case with this, And even
- 9:30Speaker 2: when you do find some deeper ones, they're not all
- 9:34Speaker 2: correlating the same because it's like, okay, between this date
- 9:37Speaker 2: and this date this stuff happened, It's like, okay, that's
- 9:40Speaker 2: like a three four year gap, So when were these
- 9:43Speaker 2: things and what exactly was that? So you find another
- 9:45Speaker 2: one that says the date on this incident, and another
- 9:49Speaker 2: website that says a date on this incident, and you're
- 9:51Speaker 2: trying to file all these things together. So that's kind
- 9:53Speaker 2: of what I found with this, and holy hell, is
- 9:57Speaker 2: a lot. And I'm impressed with you guys Instagram because
- 10:01Speaker 2: you managed to guess it once again. I thought I
- 10:04Speaker 2: was gonna fool you.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Oh, just expect that they'll get it. They're awesome.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I am expecting they're going to get it. But I'm
- 10:09Speaker 2: hoping that I'll google them.
- 10:12Speaker 1: There's just a small bit of hope in there.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Hey, well, I think we went like twelve minutes and
- 10:15Speaker 2: I was like, no one's got it yet.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Yes, oh my gosh, well minutes. It's nothing.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I know. I know my hopes are up though. Regardless
- 10:24Speaker 2: though this is the case of Annalise Michelle, which inspired
- 10:31Speaker 2: the movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Which we just watched. We did just watch it, so
- 10:38Speaker 1: I feel like I know a little bit about this
- 10:41Speaker 1: case because lot of times you leave me in the
- 10:43Speaker 1: dark and I'm legitimately learning everything just as you guys
- 10:47Speaker 1: all are.
- 10:49Speaker 2: You're a little bit of a ahead of the game.
- 10:50Speaker 1: This time, I am a little bit by a lot
- 10:52Speaker 1: of people probably watched that movie.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Too, Yes, And what I found really interesting about this
- 10:56Speaker 2: movie is there's a lot of of course, you know,
- 10:59Speaker 2: movie magic scripted stuff, but there was a lot of
- 11:01Speaker 2: like small details they had in there that were very
- 11:04Speaker 2: on point when I was watching it, like, very on
- 11:07Speaker 2: point key.
- 11:08Speaker 1: But I was also asking you questions all day and
- 11:10Speaker 1: you weren't answering them, And now I can't remember any
- 11:13Speaker 1: of those questions. Hopefully they get answered.
- 11:14Speaker 2: You did know some extra information, but I didn't tell
- 11:17Speaker 2: you all of it.
- 11:17Speaker 1: No, you didn't.
- 11:18Speaker 2: So let's let's go head down into the case of
- 11:21Speaker 2: Analise Michelle so Anna Elizabeth Michelle or Annalise Mitchell. I
- 11:28Speaker 2: think it's because she's German, so I think it's like Mitchell,
- 11:31Speaker 2: but most people just say Michelle.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So okay.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So Annalise was born September twenty first, nineteen fifty two.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Okay, ka got it.
- 11:42Speaker 2: This took place in West Germany, So she's German, like
- 11:45Speaker 2: I said, And she was born into a strict Catholic family.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Annalisee's parents, Anna and Joseph Mitchell, were deeply religious, and
- 11:54Speaker 2: before Annalise was born, her mother became quote unquote disgraced
- 11:59Speaker 2: by giving birth to an illegitimate child. Truth that means
- 12:04Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Actually in here, illegitimate means like was she not married
- 12:09Speaker 1: or something.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's having a kid before marriage. Oh, okay,
- 12:12Speaker 2: so a legitimate child is birthed in marriage.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Oh okay, I see, and then back in that day
- 12:18Speaker 1: in the nineteen fifties is probably even.
- 12:20Speaker 2: More strict whatever, right, a strict Catholic family. So yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 2: So anyway, she gave birth to a baby girl named
- 12:29Speaker 2: Martha hold On. Okay, yes, so, and as punishment for
- 12:36Speaker 2: her sin, Anna had to actually wear a black veil
- 12:39Speaker 2: on her wedding day. This is like how hardcore this
- 12:43Speaker 2: family is and how religious they are.
- 12:45Speaker 1: So I've never heard of that.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty intense.
- 12:48Speaker 1: That's like wild, right and like kind of brutal. Yeah.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I don't even know what to say. I've never heard
- 12:56Speaker 1: of that. That is so intense.
- 12:57Speaker 2: If I were he, I would have just showed up
- 12:59Speaker 2: in an entirely black yes.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that was literally what was going through my head. Yeah, like,
- 13:03Speaker 1: fuck you all, just the whole thing black.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Fuck Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Yeah. But then I don't know what would her next
- 13:09Speaker 1: punishment be. You gotta be careful, yes.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Yeah, no kidding. Well, anyways, her first legitimate daughter was Annalise.
- 13:18Speaker 2: She was born, and Anna became began to slowly and
- 13:22Speaker 2: steadily impose the idea of Annalise needing to be like
- 13:28Speaker 2: this perfect child upon her sort of thing.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Can I ask a question already? Sorry? Yes, okay, but
- 13:33Speaker 1: that first kid of theirs, yes it was. It's like
- 13:36Speaker 1: the same mom and dad as the second kid, right, yes, okay, just.
- 13:40Speaker 2: To make sure it was before.
- 13:41Speaker 1: That, it was just before they're married.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, ok So Martha actually ended up dying of
- 13:47Speaker 2: kidney failure in nineteen fifty six at the age of
- 13:50Speaker 2: only eight years old.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Oh gosh, that's awful, right, like shitty.
- 13:56Speaker 2: So after that, Anna became even more sort of in
- 13:59Speaker 2: her attempts to push Analyse into religious practices, demanding that
- 14:03Speaker 2: she attend mass twice a week and keep her at
- 14:05Speaker 2: a very close like like close proximity to her so
- 14:10Speaker 2: she could always be watching her like a very much
- 14:12Speaker 2: so like a helicopter mom and today's standard sort of thing.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Mm hm.
- 14:16Speaker 2: So it was like always like Analyse had to be
- 14:19Speaker 2: perfect in every aspect of Anna's vision. Okay, okay, got that.
- 14:25Speaker 1: That's a lot to live up to.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Probably, so while Analyse was in her teens, she even
- 14:31Speaker 2: slept on bare stone floor quote unquote, suffering for the
- 14:35Speaker 2: sins of homeless, homeless drug addicts and others damned souls
- 14:40Speaker 2: this is how hardcore she pushed her.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Wow. Wow.
- 14:44Speaker 2: So even despite all these pushings and everything, Analse did
- 14:48Speaker 2: enjoy school, and she was described as happy and well
- 14:50Speaker 2: liked by her teachers and excelled at languages. But in
- 14:55Speaker 2: September of nineteen sixty eight, when she was sixteen, she
- 14:59Speaker 2: blacked out in clas and went into an epileptic seizure.
- 15:02Speaker 2: According to classmates, she seemed to go into like a
- 15:05Speaker 2: trance like state for a few minutes, which really, I mean,
- 15:09Speaker 2: that's kind of typical of seizures. I mean, can you
- 15:13Speaker 2: imagine a person who's having a seizure and they're not
- 15:15Speaker 2: in like a translate state, they're very like conscious, Like
- 15:18Speaker 2: that's not normal.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, but it's like why did she have that? Okay?
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, anyways, that night she woke up with a
- 15:26Speaker 2: heavy feeling on her body. It was feeling like something
- 15:29Speaker 2: was pressing down on her on her chest when she
- 15:31Speaker 2: was sleeping in bed, felt like she was being pinned down,
- 15:35Speaker 2: and it was also reported that she uncontrollably wet the
- 15:39Speaker 2: bed from this incidentt Oh jeez, so pretty heavy stuff,
- 15:43Speaker 2: especially for a sixteen year old. Yeah, I can imagine
- 15:46Speaker 2: if I felt something like that pressing down on me
- 15:48Speaker 2: in the middle of the night.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I'd piss myself just saying, well, yeah, you'd be scared.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I'd probably shit myself scared shitless.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Okay, so you're a little bit worse than Anneli's aura.
- 16:00Speaker 1: That's a lot.
- 16:01Speaker 2: I mean, it is terrifying. Yeah, and it seems to
- 16:04Speaker 2: me a lot like what's being described here is sleep prolysis. Okay,
- 16:09Speaker 2: So like you're you're kind of like wide awake, but
- 16:13Speaker 2: you can't move. You're paralyzed.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Okay, so it could feel like something was kind of
- 16:17Speaker 1: on you because you.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Can move and you're having these muscle contractions from potential seizure.
- 16:22Speaker 2: So it could feel like a very heavy presence or
- 16:24Speaker 2: something pushing on your chest. That's what it seems like,
- 16:26Speaker 2: and medically, that's what a lot of people generally explain
- 16:29Speaker 2: these things as when it comes to this case. Okay, however,
- 16:31Speaker 2: we are talking about what influenced a movie called The
- 16:35Speaker 2: Exorcism of Emily Rose. So there's also the other obvious
- 16:40Speaker 2: end of the spectrum of the argument.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I have to toss that movie out of my head, though,
- 16:44Speaker 1: is that right away I was like, what do you
- 16:45Speaker 1: mean choose that college, so I got to get rid
- 16:50Speaker 1: of that.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not entirely Yeah. Like I said, there's some
- 16:54Speaker 2: details that are spot on, but the movie itself not
- 16:57Speaker 2: so much.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, now where did I go?
- 17:00Speaker 2: Okay? So she didn't go to school the next day.
- 17:03Speaker 2: She wasn't feeling well and she needed to regain her strength,
- 17:06Speaker 2: so she stayed home and her parents monitored her. She
- 17:10Speaker 2: quickly recovered and her family decided that she was fine
- 17:13Speaker 2: as there was no further incidents. Okay, that is until
- 17:17Speaker 2: eleven months later, in August of nineteen sixty nine.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Oh that's a big gap.
- 17:22Speaker 2: It is something similar happened and Analyse was taken to
- 17:26Speaker 2: a doctor. She was diagnosed with psychosis caused by a
- 17:30Speaker 2: temporal lobe epilepsy, and shortly thereafter she was diagnosed with depression,
- 17:35Speaker 2: which was treated by a psychiatric hospital. Okay, so doctor, again,
- 17:41Speaker 2: these are German names, so I'm gonna try my best.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Vogued vogt vogged fogged. Maybe I'm gonna say vogged Okay,
- 17:50Speaker 2: doctor Vogged. The family physician was consulted and after examining
- 17:54Speaker 2: a lease, doctor Vogg couldn't find anything wrong with her,
- 17:57Speaker 2: so he referred her to a new neurologist named doctor
- 18:00Speaker 2: Sigfried Louthy. Now Doctor Luthy found nothing his initial examination,
- 18:06Speaker 2: so he ended up ordering an EEG on the twenty
- 18:10Speaker 2: seventh of August nineteen sixty nine. And an EEG is
- 18:14Speaker 2: a test that detects electroactivity in your brain using small
- 18:17Speaker 2: electrodes that attached to your scalp. So it's basically like
- 18:19Speaker 2: a brain scan.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Okay, so if okay, sorry, if she has these things,
- 18:25Speaker 1: it's going to detect.
- 18:27Speaker 2: It should However, the EEG didn't find anything either. It
- 18:31Speaker 2: showed completely normal results.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Hmmmm, So the doct trust the.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Doctor believed Anne Elise was experiencing Grand Mau seizures, and
- 18:42Speaker 2: since she only had two events, there was no necessarily
- 18:46Speaker 2: any reason for her to have medicine prescribed to her. Okay,
- 18:50Speaker 2: So essentially it's just kind of like she just had
- 18:52Speaker 2: a couple off seizures. There's nothing wrong with her mentally
- 18:55Speaker 2: like it. Hopefully it's just a one and done kind
- 18:58Speaker 2: of incident or two and done agains incident.
- 19:00Speaker 1: That is alarming though, Hey, it is like that would
- 19:03Speaker 1: just make you nose at all, because it sounds like
- 19:05Speaker 1: they're intense.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, whether you're talking about potential possession or some sort
- 19:10Speaker 2: of I don't know something in your system neurologically or
- 19:15Speaker 2: is that the word neurologically? Brainly, I don't know brainally.
- 19:20Speaker 2: If there's something going on one way or another medically
- 19:23Speaker 2: or religiously, how's that. It's terrifying to think of either way.
- 19:30Speaker 2: So I don't know. It would it would scare the
- 19:34Speaker 2: shit out of me, That's all I know. So, while
- 19:37Speaker 2: undergoing the psychiatric evaluation by doctor Luthy Analise, her tonsils
- 19:43Speaker 2: became inflamed and she had a tonsilectomy. Okay, shortly after
- 19:47Speaker 2: the operation, analyse contracted. I'm gonna butcher saying this florissy, flurissy,
- 19:55Speaker 2: which is the lung condition? Oh really, yeah, flourish. It's
- 19:58Speaker 2: something about like the lung becoming inflamed and like almost
- 20:01Speaker 2: becoming detached from like, oh god, her rib cage wall.
- 20:05Speaker 1: So it was from that operator to the tonsils getting removed.
- 20:09Speaker 2: No, I don't believe.
- 20:10Speaker 1: So it was just a case totally, Like, holy, a
- 20:13Speaker 1: lot of shit's happening along with that.
- 20:15Speaker 2: She developed pneumonia and tuberculosis.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Holy freg Yeah, she's in some rough shade.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah, she's going through a lot of shit, no care,
- 20:24Speaker 2: a lot of shit. So from nineteen sixty nine to
- 20:27Speaker 2: nineteen seventy she was sick and restricted to her bed
- 20:30Speaker 2: to recover. Then in February of nineteen seventy, Annalise was
- 20:34Speaker 2: admitted to a hospital specializing in children with lung disease. Then,
- 20:38Speaker 2: without improvement, she was sent to a tuberculosis clinic in Bavaria.
- 20:44Speaker 2: While the clinic, well, in the clinic, sorry, Analise had
- 20:48Speaker 2: kind of isolated herself with her with her kind of
- 20:52Speaker 2: quirky nature is the best way to say it. She
- 20:55Speaker 2: was kind of closed off a little bit, especially with
- 20:57Speaker 2: what she's been going through recently, right.
- 20:58Speaker 1: So it's just changed her speed basically.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Well it's that a bit, but also her upbringing in
- 21:03Speaker 2: a strict Catholic family, sleeping on stone floors, that sort
- 21:07Speaker 2: of thing. So she kind of isolated herself and she
- 21:11Speaker 2: was being taunted by the kids and they were calling
- 21:14Speaker 2: her snot nose.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Oh wow, Well they were.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Kind of perceiving her as being stuck up a bit too.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Oh I see, okay, I thought that she just said
- 21:22Speaker 1: like snot running from her nose. That was like not
- 21:26Speaker 1: like like that, she was snotty that's interesting.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yeah, they thought she was being snotty, probably more so
- 21:31Speaker 2: because of her religious practices that sort of thing. Yeah, okay, sorry,
- 21:37Speaker 2: this is like info heavy. So that was February of
- 21:39Speaker 2: nineteen seventy. Now we're onto June third of nineteen seventy
- 21:44Speaker 2: and Lese had a third seizure.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Oh dang.
- 21:47Speaker 2: And again it took place around the same time as
- 21:49Speaker 2: the other two, which was now being noticed as a pattern.
- 21:52Speaker 2: And it was midnight. She suffered sleep paralysis again with
- 21:58Speaker 2: the same weight pressing down in her chest, and once
- 22:00Speaker 2: again wet the bed. Once she recovered, she shot right
- 22:05Speaker 2: up in bed and screamed in terror, and her screams
- 22:09Speaker 2: woke up the rest of the clinic and brought in
- 22:11Speaker 2: the nurses.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Oh that's a visual on the half. Eh. Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Well, with sleep prolyssis, you can't make a noise, you
- 22:16Speaker 2: can't move, so as soon as it's like you're snapping
- 22:18Speaker 2: out of it, it's like just freaking the fuck out.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Well yeah, like help me, yeah, like help me, Holy frick.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Rightanic I panic. The other kids in the clinic now
- 22:33Speaker 2: also thought Analise was crazy.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Oh dang.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Yeah. It was also noted in her files that the
- 22:39Speaker 2: children told her she was possessed by the devil.
- 22:43Speaker 1: That's nice.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Possession claims were also partially linked to the twisted expression
- 22:47Speaker 2: on Analise's face, her eyes appearing black as her pupils
- 22:52Speaker 2: would dilate to such large size that the facts that
- 22:56Speaker 2: her eyes basically just looked like they were pure.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Black time or just when she was.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Happy during that incident. Yeah, sorry, I kind of worded
- 23:03Speaker 2: that a little bit, but it was during that incident, okay.
- 23:07Speaker 2: And also her hands were locked rigidly like a cat
- 23:10Speaker 2: quote unquote, like a cat extending its claws. Yeah, and
- 23:15Speaker 2: that's so that's what she kind of looked like when
- 23:17Speaker 2: the nurse nurse's first found her when they came in
- 23:20Speaker 2: after that incident sort of thing. So she's awake, but
- 23:22Speaker 2: she's still like contorted and like screening.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Okay.
- 23:27Speaker 2: So despite this, her physical health would begin to improve.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Analise was discharged and sent home. Notably, though, when she
- 23:36Speaker 2: was sent home, her sister reported that Analyse was frequently
- 23:40Speaker 2: angry and would go into uncontrollable rages.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 23:46Speaker 2: She would have full on seizures. She would frequently blackout,
- 23:51Speaker 2: develop a snarled and distorted face during her episodes have
- 23:55Speaker 2: her arms go rigid and urinate all over herself, and
- 23:59Speaker 2: theseisodes would continue and continue and only begin to increase
- 24:03Speaker 2: in frequency. I can't imagine having a family member in
- 24:07Speaker 2: my house having to go through that sort of shit.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Well, and I thought that they just said that she
- 24:11Speaker 1: was like better. That doesn't sound like.
- 24:12Speaker 2: She well, she was recovering from things like her tuberculosis.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That shit was better.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yeah, So like she's getting better from those specific diseases,
- 24:22Speaker 2: but she's not getting better in other aspects because she
- 24:26Speaker 2: was sent to that children's hospital that was specifically for
- 24:29Speaker 2: the lung diseases, right, so she's kind of recovering from those.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Right, So that makes sense. Well, yeah, I couldn't imagine
- 24:37Speaker 1: just oh well, because she was the oldest, so her siblings,
- 24:42Speaker 1: I would think, like you'd almost be afraid her. Yeah, right,
- 24:46Speaker 1: like your own family is now kind of walking around
- 24:49Speaker 1: you with like on eggshells.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Right, Oh, definitely. I mean I'm already the black sheep
- 24:54Speaker 2: in my family and I can't And I'm the youngest,
- 24:56Speaker 2: though not the oldest, But I can't imagine if they
- 25:00Speaker 2: I actually gave my family a real reason to make
- 25:02Speaker 2: me a black.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Sheep, right, Oh, maybe you do.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Maybe I do and I just don't realize it. Maybe
- 25:09Speaker 2: I have twisted, distorted looks on my faces every time
- 25:12Speaker 2: I see my family.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I'll let you know, Okay, I'll watch you appreciate it.
- 25:18Speaker 2: All right. So anlease was seen by a neurologist, uh
- 25:23Speaker 2: doctor Vaughan Holler. I don't have doctor written here, I
- 25:26Speaker 2: just realized, but I'm assuming it's doctor. He's a neurologist.
- 25:29Speaker 2: So oh yeah. This time the EEG did show irregular
- 25:35Speaker 2: alpha waves mixed with scattered delta waves and theta waves.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Though he tried, he was unable to introduce any or
- 25:44Speaker 2: induce any seizures by stimulation of the brain. Nonetheless, in
- 25:49Speaker 2: view of her previous seizures, he recommended an anti convulsion drug. Okay,
- 25:56Speaker 2: So it was determined that she had a form of epilepsy,
- 25:59Speaker 2: and anti seizure medication was, like I said, recommended. So
- 26:04Speaker 2: it was recommended, though it wasn't given to her right away.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Just want to highlight that there.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I imagine all of this going on too. Is just
- 26:13Speaker 1: it could just be hurting her body too.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Yeah, right, seizures a lot of time, they're not easy
- 26:22Speaker 2: on you. You're convulsing you have a very fall down.
- 26:24Speaker 2: You have a very high chance of hitting your head.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Well, and then just that is that's happening a lot.
- 26:29Speaker 1: I can't imagine it's good for your brain either.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Oh, definitely, not definitely not okay. So a week later,
- 26:36Speaker 2: while praying, annially suddenly saw quote unquote a huge, grimacing
- 26:41Speaker 2: face for a brief moment. From that point onward, she
- 26:46Speaker 2: often feared to pray, thinking that the monstrous face might
- 26:49Speaker 2: return if she did so. This was her first time
- 26:53Speaker 2: linking that ailment might be something other than an ordinary
- 26:58Speaker 2: illness and linking it to her religion, and this is
- 27:03Speaker 2: where she began to develop an aversion to wholly related items, crosses,
- 27:08Speaker 2: things like that.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 27:11Speaker 2: So, in nineteen seventy two, doctor Luthy examined Annalise once
- 27:14Speaker 2: again and could find nothing pathologically wrong in another EEG.
- 27:20Speaker 2: She was, however, finally prescribed an anti convulsion drugph zentropal,
- 27:27Speaker 2: which is in America North America called Delantin. Okay, So,
- 27:34Speaker 2: while she was taking her season your.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Okay, I'm glad you're saying this because or doing this case,
- 27:42Speaker 1: because I would have already so much trouble pronouncing all.
- 27:44Speaker 2: The show I'm getting so tongue tied already.
- 27:47Speaker 1: You're doing about one hundred times better than I would
- 27:49Speaker 1: be doing.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I appreciate that. I got to take a sip here.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that will help. It's all gone.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Alcohol will help me particulate better.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go.
- 27:58Speaker 2: I can speak words good. Okay. So, while she was
- 28:03Speaker 2: taking her seizure medication, That's what I was trying to say,
- 28:07Speaker 2: she was still experiencing some epileptic symptoms, though she wasn't
- 28:11Speaker 2: having full seizures, and she did continue to see evil
- 28:15Speaker 2: menacing faces that would scarce like, holy fuck. Could you
- 28:22Speaker 2: imagine you're just sitting there taking a ship and all
- 28:24Speaker 2: of a sudden, in the door in front of you,
- 28:26Speaker 2: there's just this like damn face.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Well, I was outside earlier cleaning up the dog shit,
- 28:30Speaker 1: speaking of shit, and I had left my garden door open,
- 28:35Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, the wind took and
- 28:36Speaker 1: it was like close, and I was like, oh my god,
- 28:42Speaker 1: side even though it's like clearly this the wind, but
- 28:44Speaker 1: it's like, was that after you watched the movie?
- 28:47Speaker 2: Yeah, gotcha, especially considering there is a point in that
- 28:52Speaker 2: movie where a door is creepily opening up slowly.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm it was the wind. It was the wind.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Oh, it was total, it was. I always lose my
- 29:05Speaker 2: spot every time we get on. Oh, you have nothing
- 29:08Speaker 2: to be sorry for. I'm just for whatever reason, I
- 29:11Speaker 2: can never look get.
- 29:13Speaker 1: So interested in what I'm having to say.
- 29:15Speaker 2: It's because I look at you. It's because I look
- 29:17Speaker 2: at your face and you're just so beautiful.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Beautiful eyes.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, oh look at that. I lost my spot. Okay,
- 29:25Speaker 2: So Anilie's turned more towards her faith. Oh, hold on, Yeah,
- 29:28Speaker 2: so Anili's did turn towards more her faith and began
- 29:32Speaker 2: to immerse herself in biblical literature, and she pilgrimaged to
- 29:36Speaker 2: local shrines. She then came to believe that she was
- 29:39Speaker 2: being made to suffer from a greater or for a
- 29:42Speaker 2: greater spiritual reason. What that reason was not too sure.
- 29:50Speaker 2: The first unofficial diagnosis was made by an older woman
- 29:55Speaker 2: while Annalise was on one of her pilgrimages. She noticed
- 29:58Speaker 2: that Annalise avoided walk past particular images of Jesus and
- 30:03Speaker 2: that she refused to drink water from a holy spring,
- 30:06Speaker 2: along with claims that anially smelled quote unquote hellishly bad.
- 30:12Speaker 2: So she unofficially diagnosed her with being possessed. Interesting, Now,
- 30:19Speaker 2: I don't think she has any specific title that gives
- 30:24Speaker 2: her the right to give that diagnosis. Who is this? Sorry,
- 30:29Speaker 2: just some older woman, I don't I couldn't find a name,
- 30:31Speaker 2: but some woman that was on one of her pilgrimages
- 30:33Speaker 2: with her sort of thing.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Okay, so trusting.
- 30:38Speaker 2: On September third of, I don't know what year, because again,
- 30:43Speaker 2: trying to correlate those years sometimes was just fucking difficult.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I feel like the last year was nineteen seventy two.
- 30:49Speaker 2: It is nineteen seventy two. That's the last year. So
- 30:51Speaker 2: this very well could be nineteen seventy two or nineteen
- 30:53Speaker 2: seventy three. Okay, so I'm not too sure if it is,
- 30:57Speaker 2: I think it's late nineteen seventy two. But so on
- 31:00Speaker 2: September of, I'm assuming nineteen seventy two, Anneli's visited doctor
- 31:05Speaker 2: Luthy again and finally told him of the hideous faces
- 31:08Speaker 2: she was seeing as she hid them from him all
- 31:11Speaker 2: this time. So far from fear of being ridiculed or judged.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Well, I mean she's very much so already been judged
- 31:18Speaker 1: through this.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Yeah, no kidding, that's fair, But I mean, so far
- 31:23Speaker 2: it can be like medically explained, or at least hopefully
- 31:25Speaker 2: medically explained. They're looking for something medical, and all of
- 31:28Speaker 2: a sudden you're like, yeah, I'm seeing demons and shit,
- 31:31Speaker 2: But that could.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Still technically kind of be medical explained.
- 31:34Speaker 2: It can, it can, but it's also something that someone
- 31:38Speaker 2: could be worried about being ridiculed, like I'm seeing fucking demons.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Yeah, people might think him Graig Cray. Yeah, yeah, I
- 31:46Speaker 1: know that's fair.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Regardless, though she did tell doctor Luthy finally good and
- 31:53Speaker 2: doctor Luthy recalled that quote unquote, she could not get
- 31:56Speaker 2: her mind off these things. She had no power of decision,
- 32:00Speaker 2: and everything was empty in her oh an Anna Michelle,
- 32:07Speaker 2: which is Anelice's mother, claimed that doctor Luthy then advised
- 32:11Speaker 2: them to seek out a Jesuit priest about about the
- 32:15Speaker 2: demonic faces, but the doctor denies this claim to this day,
- 32:22Speaker 2: says he never really never recommended that. So there is
- 32:26Speaker 2: thought that maybe it was like a joke in a
- 32:29Speaker 2: passing comment like maybe you should like see a I
- 32:31Speaker 2: don't know, like you know.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Something like that, like yeah, but like when you're talking
- 32:35Speaker 1: to a doctor, they shouldn't be joking.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Well, but like that she seems she's seen Damon's maybe
- 32:40Speaker 2: a priest is.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Your answer, And because of their there's quite religious background,
- 32:46Speaker 1: they took it like quite literally.
- 32:47Speaker 2: So that's possible. Yeah, because she says he did say
- 32:51Speaker 2: say it. He's like, I did not recommend that, So
- 32:54Speaker 2: there could have just been like a passing comment that
- 32:56Speaker 2: he never even really meant, I guess, but regardless.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Or he's just a liar, or he's just a liar.
- 33:03Speaker 2: And he wants to keep his like medical name clean
- 33:06Speaker 2: of anything like that. Regardless of that whole situation, though
- 33:12Speaker 2: she says he recommended it, he says he didn't. However,
- 33:15Speaker 2: what did come out from that is doctor Luthy did
- 33:18Speaker 2: label and Lease as no longer capable of making decisions
- 33:22Speaker 2: on her own. But this warning, however, fell in empty years.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, so he's saying that she shouldn't be making
- 33:31Speaker 1: decisions on her own. Yeah, but then they didn't take
- 33:33Speaker 1: that literally.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, they didn't really listen to that.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Interesting. This whole doctor's appointment seems like it was a
- 33:40Speaker 1: bit sketch, right.
- 33:42Speaker 2: It's like, I don't know, going into the walking clinic
- 33:46Speaker 2: in like the real sketchy part of town, and you're
- 33:49Speaker 2: just being eyed up by everyone in there, and they're like,
- 33:51Speaker 2: you got some money.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Well yeah, so they take his jokes literally, but his
- 33:55Speaker 1: actual advice not Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, got it. Now. Shortly after this, a neighbor
- 34:06Speaker 2: to the Michelle family, THEA. Hines, seriously suggested that Analse
- 34:11Speaker 2: could possibly be possessed.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Now.
- 34:13Speaker 2: THEA was also heavily religious and was a member of
- 34:16Speaker 2: the same Paris that the Michelle family attended. She also
- 34:19Speaker 2: frequently host hosted meetings of the just these words are hard.
- 34:27Speaker 1: These words are hard.
- 34:28Speaker 2: They are. She also frequently hosted meetings of the Jesuits.
- 34:34Speaker 2: There we go uh in the area. And through these connections,
- 34:38Speaker 2: Father Ernest Alt was asked to come in and evaluate Analse. Okay,
- 34:45Speaker 2: so analyse began seeing Father Ernest Alt. I hope I
- 34:52Speaker 2: consistently went through and said Alt in this because it's
- 34:55Speaker 2: going to message yep, because there I refer to him
- 35:01Speaker 2: as Ernst and I'm like, I know, I said Alt.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Later on.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Anyway, Okay, we get it, we got it. That's the
- 35:06Speaker 1: probably only priest involved. I'm assuming, so, m oh shit, okay,
- 35:10Speaker 1: never mind, that's not helpful. Now.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Father Alt also claimed that he had special god given
- 35:18Speaker 2: powers to know if a person was under demonic influence
- 35:21Speaker 2: or if it was just someone who was physically ill.
- 35:25Speaker 1: He claimed, this, Okay, so interesting, this is I wish
- 35:29Speaker 1: I had that power, right sweet, I'd be like.
- 35:33Speaker 2: That person's a fucking demon. That person's a demon. My boss,
- 35:36Speaker 2: you a fucking demon. Get the fuck out of here.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I really hope my boss is listening to.
- 35:43Speaker 3: This right now.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I was just gonna say he's not.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Okay. So on the twenty sixth of December nineteen seventy three,
- 35:53Speaker 2: something happened in the world which could potentially have changed
- 35:56Speaker 2: the path of this case and the life of Analyse forever.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Any idea what it is?
- 36:04Speaker 1: No, dang, I really want to.
- 36:07Speaker 2: The movie The Exorcist was released.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Ah.
- 36:13Speaker 2: This movie was based on the book written in nineteen
- 36:17Speaker 2: seventy one by William Peter Blatley, and it could very
- 36:20Speaker 2: well have been influence that sealed Analyse's fate.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Really very well come. And this is interesting.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Well, up until this point, exorcisms and possessions was not
- 36:31Speaker 2: much of a huge thing. I mean, it was something definitely,
- 36:35Speaker 2: I mean clearly they've already been mentioning it for Analise.
- 36:38Speaker 1: That people are predicting she's possessed.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but now this movie, which if you dive into
- 36:44Speaker 2: the Exorcist at all, when it was in theaters, people
- 36:46Speaker 2: were running out of the theaters, people were fainting in theaters,
- 36:50Speaker 2: There was news reports of all this. It was pandemonium
- 36:53Speaker 2: over this movie in theaters.
- 36:55Speaker 1: And was it just like a made ups thing? Right?
- 36:57Speaker 2: This movie? I can't remember. I didn't do my research
- 37:02Speaker 2: thoroughly on the Exorcist movie itself. The Exorcist movie may
- 37:05Speaker 2: have been based on another event I don't know, or
- 37:09Speaker 2: if it's written it's based on the book, and I
- 37:11Speaker 2: don't know if the book is fictional or if it's
- 37:12Speaker 2: based on true events. Okay, someone out there might know us.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Hit us up on Instagram if you know that. But regardless,
- 37:20Speaker 2: the movie came out and it could very well have
- 37:22Speaker 2: played a role because now the whole world is talking
- 37:24Speaker 2: about possession and exorcistem.
- 37:26Speaker 1: How to get rid of it.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Yeah, So Annalise would visit Father Herman, which is a
- 37:34Speaker 2: new father. She was working with about ten times from
- 37:38Speaker 2: fall of nineteen seventy three to the summer of nineteen
- 37:41Speaker 2: seventy five. Now, during this time, Father Hermann provided counseling
- 37:45Speaker 2: for Analyse and would evaluate her demonic possession. They would
- 37:50Speaker 2: consistently pray, and Analyse would tell Father Herman that she
- 37:53Speaker 2: felt like she was being controlled. During these visits. Father
- 37:56Speaker 2: Herman noted that Analse quote unquote showed no violent behavior
- 38:01Speaker 2: or adversions to any Christian symbols, which is contradictory to
- 38:06Speaker 2: many other priests claims.
- 38:09Speaker 1: When her own yeah, like earlier on I think you.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Mentioned, yeah, well she it wasn't necessarily that she had
- 38:18Speaker 2: an aversion. Well there was.
- 38:19Speaker 1: She thought there was some correlation.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Yeah, so she kind of avoided them. It's not that
- 38:23Speaker 2: she hated them or anything.
- 38:25Speaker 1: So okay.
- 38:28Speaker 2: So that was between the summer between fall of nineteen
- 38:31Speaker 2: seventy three and summer of nineteen seventy five. She was
- 38:33Speaker 2: seeing Father Herman a bit now. Also during the fall
- 38:35Speaker 2: of nineteen seventy three and least began attending the University
- 38:39Speaker 2: of Wurzburg. I think is how you say it again
- 38:43Speaker 2: German word? I don't fucking know. I tried my best.
- 38:45Speaker 1: I'm sorry, you're doing good.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Thank you on a scholarship. Actually, so good for her
- 38:50Speaker 2: on that right on, while continuing to take her prescribed medications.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Doctor Luthy's records actually confirmed that her parents obtained a
- 38:58Speaker 2: renewed prescription for diet D latin. I think is how
- 39:03Speaker 2: you said latin. Whatever she was taking before, she's still
- 39:05Speaker 2: on that lat D lantin. There we go de lantin
- 39:09Speaker 2: and I just have to say something super quick.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Sorry. So with all the shit she was going through,
- 39:15Speaker 1: like mega shit, she still got a scholarship. She did,
- 39:18Speaker 1: Like that's actually amazing, right.
- 39:21Speaker 2: So I do want to say right there and a
- 39:24Speaker 2: Lisa's the badass of.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Well yeah, that's like wow.
- 39:27Speaker 2: So good for her. Holy So, although she wasn't troubled
- 39:31Speaker 2: by seizures, she continued to see hideous faces and be
- 39:36Speaker 2: troubled by depression and homesickness even while she was on
- 39:40Speaker 2: the medication. So she is still getting symptoms, but she's
- 39:43Speaker 2: not at least having the full on.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Seizures, which is good.
- 39:47Speaker 2: So on November twenty seventh, she saw doctor Leonard, doctor Lennard,
- 39:51Speaker 2: a psychiatrist. She told him I have and this is
- 39:55Speaker 2: a quote from her, I have no will power. I
- 39:58Speaker 2: simply float around and don't know what I want. A
- 40:03Speaker 2: Doctor Lennard recommended a neurological exam due to Analysea's history
- 40:07Speaker 2: of seizures, and yet again another EEG was performed for
- 40:12Speaker 2: the first time. However, an Lisa's EEG was judged at normal. Okay,
- 40:19Speaker 2: as another doctor in here, doctor Sleep Schlep s c
- 40:25Speaker 2: h L E I P Sleep Schlep.
- 40:29Speaker 1: You're asking me, Schlep.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Doctor Schlep found quote unquote apiletic patterns. Okay, yea, referring
- 40:38Speaker 2: to a discharge on the left temporal region.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Wonder if this, like medical technology is just getting better.
- 40:46Speaker 1: You know, it's.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Potential, there's potential for that. I mean, I'm not verse
- 40:50Speaker 2: too much in the medical world or industry or especially
- 40:53Speaker 2: how it's grown over the course of the seventies, so
- 40:56Speaker 2: I'm not too.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Sure, but I mean I feel like there could definitely
- 40:59Speaker 1: be some growth with it, is my thought.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Oh definitely. Like can say there's a potential for it,
- 41:04Speaker 2: but I don't know for sure. Yeah, doctor Schlepp changed
- 41:10Speaker 2: Analysa's prescription from Delantin. I said it, right, yea, Delantin
- 41:16Speaker 2: to the stronger Tegretel to Gretel to Gretel in hopes
- 41:20Speaker 2: of fully suppressing epileptic symptoms. The new medication, however, did
- 41:25Speaker 2: nothing to relieve her.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Symptoms, so it just worked the same basically. Yeah, hmm, dang.
- 41:32Speaker 1: And I feel like she just has so much hope
- 41:34Speaker 1: and that she hasn't lost it really at this point,
- 41:36Speaker 1: you know, in a sense, she has just kind of
- 41:39Speaker 1: been trying to get help.
- 41:41Speaker 2: She is, but she doesn't know where to turn, whether
- 41:43Speaker 2: it's medical or religious religion, I should say, but yeah,
- 41:49Speaker 2: it's no one can help her at this point. They
- 41:52Speaker 2: don't know what's going on. What the fuck? So yeah,
- 41:56Speaker 2: m throughout nineteen seven, twenty five, Father Alt, there you go,
- 42:02Speaker 2: Father Altsy, I told you, there you go, and Father
- 42:05Speaker 2: Arnold Wrens visited Annalise basically mostly based mostly on Alt's
- 42:10Speaker 2: ability to quote unquote detect demons. Fucking demon detecting motherfucker
- 42:14Speaker 2: over here. The priest decided that she was indeed possessed,
- 42:18Speaker 2: and Annalise was told to stop taking her medications on
- 42:22Speaker 2: the priest's order. They were convinced that it was not
- 42:26Speaker 2: a medical situation.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Oh, but that medication was doing some things. By the
- 42:31Speaker 1: sound it.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Was, it was doing something, but it wasn't keeering, No,
- 42:35Speaker 2: it was just holding back the seizures. That was about
- 42:38Speaker 2: it hmm. So in May fifteenth, nineteen seventy five, her
- 42:43Speaker 2: grandmother died and Annalise went into a sharper decline. She
- 42:49Speaker 2: again began to develop an aversion for holy items. She
- 42:52Speaker 2: found the prayers of her school friends to be unbearable.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Even when the prayers were silent, she threw a rose
- 43:00Speaker 2: and a bottle of holy water across the room and
- 43:02Speaker 2: she could not bear to step into a church and
- 43:06Speaker 2: she just stopped attending church altogether. M During this time
- 43:13Speaker 2: with father Alt and Wrens. Father Alton, father Wrens, Analise
- 43:17Speaker 2: is said to have this is where some of the
- 43:20Speaker 2: weird shit starts going on, because she's now offer medications.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Right, just starts were there.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Well, she's off her medication and she's like deep into
- 43:29Speaker 2: this and since her grandmother died, Yeah, she's going off
- 43:34Speaker 2: the deeper end. And now also being told that it
- 43:36Speaker 2: is possession by these priests. Annalise is said to have
- 43:42Speaker 2: licked up her own urine off the floor, coal stripped,
- 43:48Speaker 2: naked and eaten spiders and insects. She's began to avoid
- 43:52Speaker 2: these religious items like crosses, holy water. She would hardly sleep,
- 43:59Speaker 2: as she would stay up all night praying and refusing
- 44:02Speaker 2: to eat, like just brutal shit. And among all these things,
- 44:07Speaker 2: she began speaking in demonic voices.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Okay, that sounds like a disaster age.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you could say that.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Can imagine watching your kid?
- 44:19Speaker 2: Can you imagine just like, hey, did you clean your room?
- 44:21Speaker 2: You open the door and your kids sitting there naked
- 44:23Speaker 2: eating spiders, talking and demon voices. Yeah, I'm gonna close
- 44:27Speaker 2: that door.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Okay, you can't close the door.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Well, you're gonna just be like, are you okay? Little Timmy?
- 44:34Speaker 2: Do you need a time out?
- 44:35Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. You gotta do something that's scary,
- 44:38Speaker 1: shit though.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I'm closing the door.
- 44:41Speaker 1: I would be scared, like scared shitless.
- 44:43Speaker 2: That's why I'm closing the door.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, what you gotta ship help?
- 44:53Speaker 2: Timmy's on his own, man, you gotta help. I'm sorry,
- 44:58Speaker 2: I can't do it. No, okay. After months of pleading
- 45:05Speaker 2: from her parents, the church finally agreed to perform an exorcism.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Okay, the parents pleaded for this, Yes, okay, that's good
- 45:13Speaker 1: to know.
- 45:15Speaker 2: On Sunday, August third, nineteen seventy five, the first quote
- 45:20Speaker 2: unquote test exorcism was performed allegedly with oral consent from
- 45:25Speaker 2: Bishop Joseph Stengel Stungel Stungle. Don't these names are hard yo.
- 45:33Speaker 2: The test exorcism was a shortened form of the Full
- 45:37Speaker 2: Right and was mostly composed of prayers and blessings.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Doesn't sound too bad.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Then, Based solely again on Father Alt's reports from the
- 45:47Speaker 2: Test Ritual, the bishop issued a written authorization for a
- 45:52Speaker 2: full exorcism, so, with the express permission of the church,
- 45:55Speaker 2: it was on September twenty fourth, nineteen seventy five, the
- 45:59Speaker 2: first full exorcism was performed on Annalise Mitchell.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Dun't dun't dum.
- 46:08Speaker 2: So the priests decided that they would actually record their
- 46:11Speaker 2: sessions with Annalise, which was done in the movie The
- 46:15Speaker 2: Exorcist and very well could be evidence of being influenced
- 46:20Speaker 2: from the movie. In total, there are forty two audio
- 46:26Speaker 2: recordings that were made from the exorcisms, and over the
- 46:29Speaker 2: next ten months from nineteen seventy five to nineteen seventy six,
- 46:34Speaker 2: Analise would go through sixty seven exorcism sessions, one or
- 46:41Speaker 2: two each week, lasting up to four hours long.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Okay, that's a bit excessive, like super excessive, and in
- 46:50Speaker 1: the movie.
- 46:50Speaker 2: They only say that she actually went through one. Now
- 46:54Speaker 2: this is the Exorcisms, sixty seven of them.
- 46:58Speaker 1: And it was like ten months spent.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Yep.
- 47:01Speaker 1: That's freaking nuts, I know.
- 47:03Speaker 2: So I'm going to play a short audio clip here
- 47:05Speaker 2: from some of those recordings. You're gonna be able to
- 47:08Speaker 2: hear a priest and the quote unquote possessed Annalise talking. Now,
- 47:13Speaker 2: remember this is in German, so you're not gonna be
- 47:16Speaker 2: able to understand them. So for the context, the priest
- 47:19Speaker 2: is reciting different prayers and demanding in the name of
- 47:22Speaker 2: God that the demons give truth or responses and answer
- 47:25Speaker 2: to who they are and why they're here, that sort
- 47:27Speaker 2: of thing. What you will hear Annalise say first is
- 47:32Speaker 2: there is no return for us, no in all ages.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Then you'll hear the priest again, and then Annalise will
- 47:39Speaker 2: respond again there is no return, No one will return
- 47:43Speaker 2: from us.
- 47:46Speaker 1: You ready, I think so?
- 48:02Speaker 3: And wow, how's that for you?
- 48:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know, because okay, I actually
- 48:42Speaker 1: have I'm kind of a skeptic. I don't know if
- 48:46Speaker 1: I like with the whole her being possessed thing. I
- 48:50Speaker 1: have trouble believing that for some reason, like I just
- 48:52Speaker 1: do that, and so then I'm like, Okay, it has
- 48:56Speaker 1: to like some sort of medical thing like the But
- 49:01Speaker 1: that's heavy.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's very heavy because it's just.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Like any kind of medical illness or whatever that you
- 49:07Speaker 1: could have like, oh, would it sound like that? You know?
- 49:11Speaker 2: Well, I mean anyone like that that voice specifically that
- 49:15Speaker 2: she's making, anyone can really make that voice like I
- 49:20Speaker 2: can do it.
- 49:22Speaker 1: But yeah, is a is.
- 49:25Speaker 2: A mentally unstable person or that? And what would cause
- 49:30Speaker 2: them to do that? Yeah, So there's a lot of
- 49:33Speaker 2: questions surrounding that in what's going on, whether there's real possession,
- 49:36Speaker 2: whether there's real mental illness, whether it's a combination of both.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Well, I put through the ringer for sure she has.
- 49:44Speaker 1: So I mean maybe this that a mental illness is
- 49:47Speaker 1: really just digressed at that point. It's possible, I guess
- 49:50Speaker 1: it is without getting the help.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Well, especially considering you think that over the course of
- 49:56Speaker 2: years you are being told or at least influenced by
- 49:59Speaker 2: people on demons taking over you potential possessions, and if
- 50:04Speaker 2: you are mentally ill to the point where you are
- 50:07Speaker 2: susceptible to suggestion, you now could be literally thinking that
- 50:12Speaker 2: your feelings are demons, and you don't have control over
- 50:16Speaker 2: these feelings, and you are now manifesting these demons within you,
- 50:19Speaker 2: and you are projecting your feelings in whatever voice is
- 50:22Speaker 2: thinking it's demons.
- 50:25Speaker 1: I guess, so, yeah, very much.
- 50:29Speaker 2: So like someone with anger issues will lash out and
- 50:32Speaker 2: anger and afterwards it's just like, you know, I'm so sorry.
- 50:34Speaker 2: I don't know what came over me. Could be a
- 50:36Speaker 2: very similar thing. I don't know. I'm not in that
- 50:39Speaker 2: field to say that's the case, but I mean that
- 50:42Speaker 2: makes sense to me.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:46Speaker 2: With that, though, we are going to end this episode here,
- 50:49Speaker 2: we're going to start getting into a little bit more
- 50:51Speaker 2: of the exorcisms and the case that follows.
- 50:56Speaker 1: For any we haven't done a two parter for a while.
- 50:58Speaker 2: It is, but I've put in pro a good ten
- 51:00Speaker 2: hours of research on this and I'm not even done
- 51:02Speaker 2: the exorcisms and into the actual case yet.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. Has been fun though, I bet it's
- 51:07Speaker 1: kind of fun research ish. It's a lot like I
- 51:10Speaker 1: know you've really been.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Like, it's both it's fun, it's daunting, it's kind of
- 51:15Speaker 2: fucking scary. I'm not gonna lie. I made sure that
- 51:19Speaker 2: I might have had the lamp on a couple of
- 51:20Speaker 2: times sitting next to me, or so I ever wanted.
- 51:23Speaker 1: To scare the shit out of you, right now is
- 51:25Speaker 1: maybe the best time.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Good luck. Ah, I mean it's probably your best chance,
- 51:30Speaker 2: but I mean one in a million is still not
- 51:33Speaker 2: a very good shot.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Dang, fine, I know, I don't think I've ever scared you.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Yeah, well, if you guys want to listen and follow
- 51:42Speaker 2: up on what happens to n Lease, we're going to
- 51:44Speaker 2: drop that. Not tomorrow, but the next day. It'll be Thursday,
- 51:48Speaker 2: perfect September. What what is that? September eighth. I don't
- 51:52Speaker 2: know what's that.
- 51:52Speaker 1: I don't even know what the date is today, dude.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that'll be September eighth. So we're dropping in on
- 51:58Speaker 2: September eighth, the second in part to Analyse. No, it
- 52:01Speaker 2: won't be today's the sixth.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're dropping tomorrow ignore me, part two.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Ignore me. Yeah, it'll be September ninth. You get to
- 52:13Speaker 2: catch up on Analyse and what happens to her.
- 52:15Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it.
- 52:17Speaker 2: Yeah, because this is a pretty wicked case. Well, actually,
- 52:20Speaker 2: I think this is a pretty grim case, if I'm
- 52:22Speaker 2: going to say so. Until then, though, make sure you
- 52:25Speaker 2: guys stay wicked
