- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Welcome to the second hour of
- 0:20Speaker 1: NFL Now on NFL Networks. Games Palmer Steve White with you.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We're going to have the Hall of Famer Kurt Warner
- 0:27Speaker 1: coming up, talking about a couple of quarterbacks. We'll talk
- 0:29Speaker 1: about the London game between the Giants and the Packers.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Were also going to talk about that Thursday night game
- 0:34Speaker 1: between the Broncos and the Cults. One that I'm going
- 0:37Speaker 1: to be at and one that has breaking news involved
- 0:40Speaker 1: in a Jonathan Taylor, the NFL's leading rusher by over
- 0:42Speaker 1: five hundred yards a season ago. Right there is where
- 0:45Speaker 1: he suffered the ankle injury. Actually also fumbled on the
- 0:48Speaker 1: play in the Colts loss to the Titans. He is
- 0:51Speaker 1: out for this game against the Denver Broncos in Denver.
- 0:57Speaker 1: For more on this, let's bring in NFL Network insider
- 1:00Speaker 1: Ian Rapp. Report and Ian, it was it just trending
- 1:03Speaker 1: this way throughout the entire week. Well, I think Jonathan
- 1:08Speaker 1: Taylor wanted to plan know that, and you look at
- 1:10Speaker 1: what happened medically. He got an ankle sprain. He had
- 1:14Speaker 1: X ray which was which was negative. He had a
- 1:16Speaker 1: CT scan and an m r I which came back
- 1:19Speaker 1: relatively clean, but he just couldn't really do very much
- 1:22Speaker 1: and the fact that he wasn't able to get out
- 1:23Speaker 1: there on the field at all Monday Tuesday really did
- 1:26Speaker 1: not bode well. So I know he held out hope.
- 1:29Speaker 1: He wanted to play, he wanted to be able to
- 1:30Speaker 1: work out pregame. It's also dealing with a toe injury,
- 1:33Speaker 1: by the way, which doesn't help at all. But this
- 1:35Speaker 1: seems to be the case of the team being like,
- 1:37Speaker 1: you know what, we'll just protect you from yourself. You're
- 1:39Speaker 1: just out. It's one game, it's a long season, and
- 1:42Speaker 1: that's how important he is. They want to make sure
- 1:44Speaker 1: nothing worse happens to him. So he is now not
- 1:47Speaker 1: going to play, which means a lot of naim hinds.
- 1:50Speaker 1: And also remember your old friend Philip Lindsay is currently
- 1:54Speaker 1: on the Cults practice squad has not yet been elevated,
- 1:57Speaker 1: so I wouldn't be surprised. There's a standard elevation here.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Get him the ball a little bit and I would
- 2:02Speaker 1: give them three active running backs. Makes a lot of sense.
- 2:05Speaker 1: But yes, most importantly, Jonathan Taylor out for Thursday night,
- 2:08Speaker 1: and this is his first game he is missing this
- 2:11Speaker 1: season or this career really for him that for that
- 2:13Speaker 1: matter due to injury. Did miss a game due to COVID.
- 2:17Speaker 1: That's Jonathan Taylor and Philip Lindsay returning back to Denver
- 2:20Speaker 1: where he started his career. And this is today, this
- 2:22Speaker 1: is Mac Jones where we are also monitoring another ankle
- 2:26Speaker 1: just like Jonathan Taylor, this kept him out of last
- 2:28Speaker 1: week's game. Here is Bill Belichick on his quarterback, Mac
- 2:32Speaker 1: Jones aitning update on your quarterback situation? Will daily be
- 2:38Speaker 1: started with something, Uh, yeah, we'll see, just take a
- 2:42Speaker 1: day to day, just gonna use that once to day. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 1: we'll have the injury report for you. Can't wait to
- 2:53Speaker 1: get it out. Nice to see Bill dressed up for
- 2:56Speaker 1: today's press conference in we're closed to the regular Bill
- 2:59Speaker 1: Belichick at tire we see, but still the same kind
- 3:02Speaker 1: of answers regarding the injury portion of his team. What
- 3:05Speaker 1: more can you tell us about Mac joke? Bill can't
- 3:10Speaker 1: even get the answers out without laughing in his own
- 3:12Speaker 1: not which I really appreciate that that dynamic where he
- 3:15Speaker 1: just starts answering and starts laughing at himself before he finishes. Anyway,
- 3:19Speaker 1: Mac Jones is out of practice today. I know mac
- 3:22Speaker 1: Jones is going to try to push to play and
- 3:24Speaker 1: he believes he can play this Sunday. We'll see if
- 3:26Speaker 1: he's able to. And you know, there was definitely a
- 3:28Speaker 1: time last week late in the week when he thought
- 3:30Speaker 1: he'd be able to play two did not end up
- 3:31Speaker 1: participating in practice, was not able to play. If he's
- 3:35Speaker 1: listed as limited today, I would say at least that
- 3:37Speaker 1: means he's got a shot of being out there on Sunday.
- 3:40Speaker 1: He is the Patriots starter. You know, he was dying
- 3:42Speaker 1: out there when Bailey's Apple was going toe to toe
- 3:44Speaker 1: with Aaron Rodgers. If it is humanly possible for Matt
- 3:48Speaker 1: Jones to be out in the field, he will be
- 3:50Speaker 1: out there this week. But the fact that he's out
- 3:52Speaker 1: there today probably a good time. You know, injuries are
- 3:56Speaker 1: all different and mac Jones trying to get back on
- 3:58Speaker 1: the field with an ankle injury, and then Brian Robinson
- 4:01Speaker 1: a completely different story as he tries to get back
- 4:04Speaker 1: on the field after being shot multiple times during attempted carjacking.
- 4:08Speaker 1: He is designated to return to practice. What where do
- 4:12Speaker 1: things stand with him getting on the field during a game,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and probably one that we'll all have our eyes on
- 4:17Speaker 1: when it eventually does happen. Yeah, such a great story
- 4:21Speaker 1: and such an unbelievable and to really something that could
- 4:25Speaker 1: have been tragic and horrific. And you know, as positive
- 4:28Speaker 1: as Brian Robinson is, as positive as the organization is,
- 4:31Speaker 1: you know, this is really turning into something amazing. So
- 4:34Speaker 1: here's where we are. Four weeks from being shot twice
- 4:37Speaker 1: in an attempted robbery. He is on the field. This
- 4:40Speaker 1: practice window is open. The Washington Commanders now have twenty
- 4:43Speaker 1: one days UH to make him active, put him on
- 4:46Speaker 1: the roster, allowum to participate in the game. My understanding
- 4:49Speaker 1: of the situation is might not be this week to
- 4:52Speaker 1: where he's actually able to play in a game. They
- 4:54Speaker 1: want to make sure that he is back acclimated fully practicing.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Had not practiced at all again in a month. So
- 5:01Speaker 1: what it seems like it's headed is practice a week
- 5:03Speaker 1: and then play next week. We've seen players exceed expectations before.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I would not put anything past him, and just football wise,
- 5:12Speaker 1: forget about all the other amazing stuff. Football wise, this
- 5:15Speaker 1: is a starting running back that is extremely important to
- 5:18Speaker 1: the Commanders. That's a great point in and as I
- 5:20Speaker 1: mentioned earlier, there's always like certain games during the season
- 5:23Speaker 1: that you just want to make sure you tune in
- 5:25Speaker 1: at a specific moment when they start. When Brian Rominson
- 5:27Speaker 1: returns to the field, obviously one we're all going to
- 5:29Speaker 1: have our eye on. We know Daniel Jones suffered a
- 5:33Speaker 1: sprained ankle and the Giants win over the Bears. Actually
- 5:35Speaker 1: had to return to that game after Torond Taylor suffered
- 5:38Speaker 1: taking cushion. Brian Dable says that Jones will practice today
- 5:42Speaker 1: with the injury in some capacity. So we bring in
- 5:45Speaker 1: Judy f Batista to give us more on the Giants
- 5:48Speaker 1: quarterback situation because with Taylor, with Jones, with Davis Webb,
- 5:53Speaker 1: we're looking at all of these different pieces, where Judy
- 5:56Speaker 1: do things stand with Daniel Jones though the starter right
- 5:59Speaker 1: now today, well, Daniel Jones was practicing in the early
- 6:03Speaker 1: part of practice that the media is allowed to watch.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Our good friend Tom Rock from Newsday tweeted a series
- 6:08Speaker 1: of short video clips that showed him, and he actually
- 6:11Speaker 1: looked pretty good. He was moving around, he was able
- 6:12Speaker 1: to drop back and roll out and run a bootleg,
- 6:15Speaker 1: so he looked pretty mobile. That's obviously a good sign.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Is only Wednesday, so certainly that pretends well for him
- 6:22Speaker 1: being available on Sunday, which maybe we should have guessed
- 6:25Speaker 1: that because they have not signed a quarterback yet. Certainly
- 6:29Speaker 1: Davis Whibb would come up. Tyrod Taylor is in the
- 6:32Speaker 1: concussion protocol and about practice today, so presumably he would
- 6:36Speaker 1: be a very long shot to be cleared in time
- 6:38Speaker 1: to go to London. But it's important to remember about
- 6:41Speaker 1: Daniel Jones. He can't just be benically cleared. He's got
- 6:44Speaker 1: to have some mobility because that is a huge part
- 6:47Speaker 1: of his game. They need him to be able to
- 6:49Speaker 1: move around. We've seen them have success with that. If
- 6:52Speaker 1: you go back to there was a game against the
- 6:55Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals when Daniel Jones was coming back off a
- 6:57Speaker 1: hamstring injury and he did not have the mobility he
- 7:01Speaker 1: started the game. He was a sitting duck back there.
- 7:03Speaker 1: He was sack six times in that game. They can't
- 7:06Speaker 1: have that against the Packers, who have a really good
- 7:08Speaker 1: pass rush. They have had eleven sex already this season.
- 7:12Speaker 1: They don't want Daniel Jones to be back there and
- 7:14Speaker 1: not be able to protect himself and not be able
- 7:16Speaker 1: to function in the offense. But what we saw today
- 7:19Speaker 1: in the early part of practice looked pretty promising for
- 7:22Speaker 1: Daniel Jones for Sunday, and Judy hopefully is moving around
- 7:25Speaker 1: a lot better than he did when he had to
- 7:26Speaker 1: return to the game after Taylor's injury because he was
- 7:29Speaker 1: not moving around all that well. Then he has some
- 7:32Speaker 1: time to hopefully get that back. Thanks Jude. Well. The
- 7:36Speaker 1: green Bay Packers making their first trip to London, and
- 7:38Speaker 1: here they are. They're using one of the very few
- 7:41Speaker 1: references we say here in the States, London calling you
- 7:45Speaker 1: never hearing us in any social media post even they
- 7:47Speaker 1: had over the Pond. Now let's get Stacy Dale's who
- 7:51Speaker 1: is currently over. Matt Lafleur and his Packers keeping their preparation, intense,
- 7:58Speaker 1: condensed preparation very close to the vest this week as
- 8:01Speaker 1: they get ready for London. We do know one thing.
- 8:03Speaker 1: They are traveling out of Green Bay on three day evening,
- 8:05Speaker 1: touching down on Friday morning. They will do so with
- 8:09Speaker 1: a three in one record, facing another team with a
- 8:12Speaker 1: three in one record, that of course the New York Giants,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and those Giants will be bringing the best rushing attack
- 8:17Speaker 1: in the National Football League to Town at Tottenham on Sunday,
- 8:22Speaker 1: a hundred and ninety three rush yards per game. Of course,
- 8:24Speaker 1: the catalyst sa Kwon Barkley leading the NFL and almost
- 8:28Speaker 1: every running metric you can have, touches, rush yards, scrimmage yards, uh,
- 8:33Speaker 1: you name it. He has been the difference for these
- 8:36Speaker 1: Giants and certainly for the Packers. They are twenty second
- 8:39Speaker 1: in stopping the run. Fifth total defense, but twenty second
- 8:42Speaker 1: is stopping the run. Matt Lafleur saying this week very simple,
- 8:45Speaker 1: We've got to be more physical in the run game,
- 8:48Speaker 1: maybe add somebody to the box and certainly would assume
- 8:51Speaker 1: that against Sae Kwon Barkley and company. And for the
- 8:53Speaker 1: Packers offensively, Aaron Rodgers said it. They have to start faster.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And by the way, Aaron Rodgers, he is the draw.
- 8:59Speaker 1: It's a sold out game at Tottenham. But when I
- 9:02Speaker 1: talk to all the locals, they want to see number twelve.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers live right here in London's gonna be a
- 9:08Speaker 1: good one. It is gonna be a good one because
- 9:10Speaker 1: both these teams are three and one, the Giants and
- 9:13Speaker 1: the Green Day Packers from Tottenham Stadium. You can wake
- 9:15Speaker 1: up with game day kickoff at seven am Eastern, as
- 9:19Speaker 1: we get you ready for kickoff at nine thirty, exclusively
- 9:24Speaker 1: right here on NFL Network. This is new right now
- 9:32Speaker 1: to NFL Network and to NFL Now. Dak Prescott is
- 9:37Speaker 1: somewhat steve in a move to get back on the
- 9:41Speaker 1: field as he has met with a hand specialist, as
- 9:43Speaker 1: he is moving through the process to get back to
- 9:45Speaker 1: gripping a football. Here is Mike McCarthy on Dak Prescott.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I think the first thing you gotta recognize, he delivered,
- 9:53Speaker 1: you know, And and then that's the credit to Matthew
- 9:54Speaker 1: Stafford always had tremendous amount of respect for him, obviously
- 9:59Speaker 1: while he was in Detroit, and you know, we played
- 10:02Speaker 1: a lot of games against each other. And I go
- 10:04Speaker 1: back to his you know, his rookie year. You know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: I think he played for through his shoulder injury. It
- 10:08Speaker 1: was pretty significant. Uh. So you knew right away to
- 10:11Speaker 1: you know, forget about the arm talent all that him
- 10:13Speaker 1: and this discussed. He's a warrior, um so he can
- 10:17Speaker 1: make all the throws he has. Uh And frankly, you
- 10:20Speaker 1: could see it in our training camp practice, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 1: last year, and you can see the connection that he
- 10:24Speaker 1: has with Cooper Um, Cooper Cup and and and his teammates,
- 10:28Speaker 1: so Um, he will be a big challenge for us, obviously.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Mike McCarthy talking about the guy who is starting in
- 10:37Speaker 1: this game and Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott not playing in
- 10:40Speaker 1: this game, but who's going after Jane Matthew Stafford. Is
- 10:44Speaker 1: this pass rush of the Dallas Cowboys, which we've seen
- 10:46Speaker 1: what Michael Parsons has been able to do. What is
- 10:49Speaker 1: that group going to do to go after the man
- 10:51Speaker 1: that is leading the NFL in interceptions right now? Well,
- 10:56Speaker 1: if I was the Rams, I do what a lot
- 10:58Speaker 1: of these other teams are trying to do, and let's
- 10:59Speaker 1: keep the ball on the ground. James. Now, we saw
- 11:01Speaker 1: the Rams trying to do that against the forty niners
- 11:03Speaker 1: this week and they were held to under sixty yards.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I think, what only averaging three and a half yards?
- 11:07Speaker 1: You play and Stafford was sack seven times. This is
- 11:10Speaker 1: a team that they're meeting that leads the league in sacks.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So this is a very aggressive pass rush if you
- 11:15Speaker 1: think about it. Cooper Cup is really most of their offense,
- 11:19Speaker 1: and so they're gonna be keen in on that. That
- 11:21Speaker 1: was Mike McCarthy talked about today. But if they want
- 11:23Speaker 1: to find some semblance of success, they are giving up
- 11:25Speaker 1: chunk place in the run games. So they are working
- 11:28Speaker 1: on their run defense. But that is an area that
- 11:30Speaker 1: the Rams could exploit because right now, as you said,
- 11:33Speaker 1: this pass rush is a tough one, and when I
- 11:35Speaker 1: was looking at the numbers, they actually found this a
- 11:37Speaker 1: little interesting. We talked so much about Aaron Donald and
- 11:40Speaker 1: how distinctive he is as a pass rusher. Micah Parsons
- 11:42Speaker 1: has had a better year so far. Well, Jane that
- 11:46Speaker 1: that's in part because Michael Parsons being moved around and
- 11:48Speaker 1: not being triple teamed on every player because he's got
- 11:51Speaker 1: some help with de Marcus Lawrence and some other players.
- 11:53Speaker 1: But to me, from the Rams perspective, this is where
- 11:56Speaker 1: head coach Sean mcveigh's offensive ingenuity is being tested like
- 12:00Speaker 1: never before. They've got three interior offensive lineman down. They
- 12:04Speaker 1: are down to their third stringers at some positions, and
- 12:07Speaker 1: you better believe this is where the Dallas Cowboys are
- 12:09Speaker 1: gonna attack. Jane, you talked about the run game for
- 12:12Speaker 1: the Rams. They just couldn't get any pushed against a
- 12:14Speaker 1: very good forty Niners defense. But with guard to guard
- 12:17Speaker 1: going this deep in the depth chart, trying to run
- 12:19Speaker 1: the ball, that is going to be a challenge these guys,
- 12:21Speaker 1: you're gonna have to rise up. This might be bucky
- 12:24Speaker 1: where Sean McVeigh is gonna have to throw the ball
- 12:26Speaker 1: to his running back instead of trying to push a
- 12:29Speaker 1: very aggressive defensive front and a very creative defensive front
- 12:32Speaker 1: to try to keep Dallas off guard. Again. This is
- 12:35Speaker 1: where Sean Vey and he talked about it earlier this week.
- 12:39Speaker 1: As a coaching staff, they're gonna have to be very
- 12:41Speaker 1: creative knowing how limited they are on that offensive front. Yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 1: now this is an opportunity for us to see the
- 12:50Speaker 1: wizardry of Sean McVeigh if he can pull something out
- 12:53Speaker 1: of the bag to really throw off the Dallas Cowboys defense.
- 12:55Speaker 1: To Dallas Cowboys defense see themselves as they Doomsday defense
- 12:59Speaker 1: going back to the seventies when they used to dominate
- 13:01Speaker 1: on defense. Michael Parsons uttered that nickname as if this
- 13:05Speaker 1: defense could dominate to that level when you look at
- 13:08Speaker 1: it on paper. I love the comparison because Dan Quinn
- 13:11Speaker 1: has been dialing it up. They are very creative and
- 13:13Speaker 1: how they're approaching the defense, the pass rust is getting home,
- 13:17Speaker 1: and because they're able to dominate with their front line,
- 13:20Speaker 1: that front seven, it allows guys like Trevon Diggs to
- 13:23Speaker 1: be able to get it done in the back end.
- 13:25Speaker 1: When I think about the Cowboys and the formula that
- 13:27Speaker 1: has been very successful for them, it is about the
- 13:30Speaker 1: defense being the calling card, the yafense playing as a compliment,
- 13:34Speaker 1: and Cooper Rush not mixing it up. If the Cowboys
- 13:37Speaker 1: played that way, they've been going to room and get
- 13:39Speaker 1: another one, hey, Bucky and Jay. One thing where the
- 13:41Speaker 1: Cowboys are real with Dan Quinns being fantastic, They've got
- 13:44Speaker 1: so many moving parts, not just Michael Parsons, but Donovan Wilson.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I think Jaron Cursor safety is coming back. They move
- 13:50Speaker 1: all those pieces around. That's why it's so hard to
- 13:53Speaker 1: dictate what you want to do against this Cowboys d.
- 13:55Speaker 1: That's probably why they haven't given up twenty points yet
- 13:58Speaker 1: right this season. Last time this defense has done that
- 14:01Speaker 1: nineteen seventy three, So they're in charted territory in some way,
- 14:05Speaker 1: so to speak. Thank you Jane, thank you Bucky, thank
- 14:08Speaker 1: you Steve, And coming up, we're gonna be talking about
- 14:11Speaker 1: this Thursday night matchup that will not have Jonathan Taylor
- 14:14Speaker 1: in it. It's it will have Matt Ryan, it will
- 14:16Speaker 1: have Russell Wilson. And it is Tomorrow night in Denver
- 14:20Speaker 1: coming up. Look the doll Ross shows what Ross has
- 14:35Speaker 1: done in the past. All the roots touchdown, Hi get
- 14:41Speaker 1: d why check she makes the catch? Touchdown Denver. This
- 14:55Speaker 1: is exactly what the doctor ordered. But the doctor ordered
- 15:01Speaker 1: was another edition of Let's ride this one in prime
- 15:04Speaker 1: time Tomorrow night, in prime time, Colts travel to the
- 15:06Speaker 1: Broncos in Denver, two teams looking to rebound after divisional loss.
- 15:14Speaker 1: You know you're gonna play different uniform and a great
- 15:16Speaker 1: team in the Colts. I think they got a lot
- 15:17Speaker 1: of great players, I mean, so many stars and their
- 15:19Speaker 1: team and so it's gonna be a great matchup and
- 15:21Speaker 1: we're looking forward to it playing in front of our fans.
- 15:23Speaker 1: What what a what a great time that's gonna be.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Uh So, so it's a special thing. But the sort
- 15:28Speaker 1: of throwing shoulder, do you think you'll have any limitations
- 15:30Speaker 1: in the game, especially since it's Thursday night game? No,
- 15:32Speaker 1: no limitations. I played against russ A lot Um in
- 15:35Speaker 1: the NFC when he was with Seattle, and I was
- 15:37Speaker 1: with Atlanta. So I had a lot of really good battles,
- 15:41Speaker 1: you know, against Sam some of the playoffs, and um,
- 15:44Speaker 1: you know, lots of great games in the regular season
- 15:46Speaker 1: as well. Um, but you know it is it's it's
- 15:49Speaker 1: a different, you know, set of circumstances too, completely different
- 15:52Speaker 1: teams coming into it. But it's always fun competing against him.
- 15:56Speaker 1: He heard Russell Wilson asked about that throwing shoulder. Mr
- 15:58Speaker 1: Unlimited was limited all week and this guy was d
- 16:01Speaker 1: NP all week. And Jonathan Taylor did not participate in
- 16:04Speaker 1: practice for the duration of these short week of practices
- 16:07Speaker 1: where they don't really practice, but he was unable to
- 16:10Speaker 1: do anything and won't go in this game, the first
- 16:13Speaker 1: game he's missing due to injury in his career for
- 16:16Speaker 1: the Indianapolis Colts. And he's a big card. Steve as
- 16:20Speaker 1: I bring you and Bucky Bucky we're here. Uh. As
- 16:23Speaker 1: we talked about this Thursday night game, we thought this
- 16:27Speaker 1: run game was going to carry this team. Matt Ryan
- 16:30Speaker 1: probably assumed with this offensive line in this run game,
- 16:33Speaker 1: it would help him out in an instance. It has
- 16:35Speaker 1: not been there through these first it really has not
- 16:38Speaker 1: been there. And you know, you can we can sit
- 16:39Speaker 1: there to not having Jonathan Taylor is going to be
- 16:41Speaker 1: a big blow, which it is, but the issue has
- 16:43Speaker 1: come with the offensive line, highest paid offensive line the NFL.
- 16:46Speaker 1: For whatever reason, they are not playing on a thread.
- 16:49Speaker 1: They're getting handled up front. Matt Ryan hasn't had time
- 16:52Speaker 1: and protection. But with this running game again, this has
- 16:56Speaker 1: not worked. And so now this is a desperate Colts
- 16:59Speaker 1: football team because they're not functioning where they need to
- 17:01Speaker 1: function and they're playing, you know, against a Broncos defensive
- 17:05Speaker 1: really well the first three games, but they got gashed
- 17:08Speaker 1: on the ground against the Raiders last week. Josh Jacobs
- 17:11Speaker 1: absolutely tore them up. And that's where not having a
- 17:13Speaker 1: physical runner like Jonathan Taylor could impact. You know, the
- 17:17Speaker 1: Coats would have been They have Ninem Hines and Philip Lindsay,
- 17:19Speaker 1: but they had to have seen some things in the
- 17:22Speaker 1: Broncos run game that they've got to try to exploit.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And the frankly Bucky, the Colts offensive lineman and their
- 17:27Speaker 1: offensive line coaches have got to say, we're tired of
- 17:30Speaker 1: being talked about is being the weak link on the team,
- 17:32Speaker 1: and fix it because this is a desperate football team
- 17:35Speaker 1: right now. Desperate football team and my dog in the bag.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Luna is out here saying exactly what the Coats need
- 17:42Speaker 1: to have. They need to have some dogs on the
- 17:44Speaker 1: front line. They need to have some people that are
- 17:47Speaker 1: showing some physicality and toughness, because Steven ain't the talent.
- 17:50Speaker 1: It's all about the toughness at the point of attack.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I watched this team down in Jacksonville get man handled
- 17:55Speaker 1: by the front and when you put that kind of
- 17:57Speaker 1: stuff on tape, everybody comes at you like that. So
- 18:01Speaker 1: the only thing that is going to resolve the issue
- 18:03Speaker 1: for the Coats is there officsive line saying that we're
- 18:06Speaker 1: going to take the battle to the Denver Broncos front line.
- 18:10Speaker 1: And if they do that, regardless of who's running, they'll
- 18:13Speaker 1: have success. Because, as you guys have stated it coming
- 18:15Speaker 1: into the year, it was about this offensive line and
- 18:18Speaker 1: the running game being able to set the table for
- 18:20Speaker 1: Matt Ryan to be able to throw comfortably on play action.
- 18:23Speaker 1: But if you can't run the football, the play accident
- 18:26Speaker 1: is null and void. Until the car is able to
- 18:28Speaker 1: run the football and exhibit some of the toughness that
- 18:31Speaker 1: Frank Wright always talks about, this team will go nowhere.
- 18:34Speaker 1: So Thursday Night is about their toughness against the Broncos.
- 18:38Speaker 1: If they show up, they have an opportunity to show
- 18:41Speaker 1: out well Bucket. The only game that before this one
- 18:44Speaker 1: that Jonathan Taylor has missed in his career was due
- 18:46Speaker 1: to COVID, and the leading rushier in that game against
- 18:49Speaker 1: the Titans wasn't Hem Hines ten carries twenty nine yards.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Now we also know another back is out in this game,
- 18:55Speaker 1: which is the Broncos starting running back in Javonte Williams.
- 18:58Speaker 1: The Broncos went into this season most of the people
- 19:00Speaker 1: I've talked to in that building believed that this is
- 19:02Speaker 1: a guy that was not going to be a breakout
- 19:04Speaker 1: star for the broncho Us, but a breakout star in
- 19:06Speaker 1: the NFL. The way he breaks tackles, the way he
- 19:08Speaker 1: catches the football. Now he has done for the season
- 19:11Speaker 1: with the a c L and other ligament damage. So
- 19:13Speaker 1: they move on to Melvin Gordon, who was interesting also.
- 19:15Speaker 1: They pick up Latavius Murray, who has some familiarity obviously
- 19:19Speaker 1: with George Payton, their general manager, and had a chance
- 19:21Speaker 1: to talk to him in the Broncos locker room yesterday
- 19:24Speaker 1: about not really knowing yet what his role is, him
- 19:27Speaker 1: saying that means we probably may see Latavius Murray for
- 19:30Speaker 1: this team and just such a short period of time.
- 19:32Speaker 1: But what struggled Steve with this offense already and what
- 19:35Speaker 1: they saw some signs of life when I was there
- 19:37Speaker 1: yesterday in the locker room talking to people, was we've
- 19:39Speaker 1: had too many penalties they lead the NFL, and penalties,
- 19:42Speaker 1: too many drops, too many instances where they have been
- 19:44Speaker 1: shooting themselves in the foot in the early portions of downs,
- 19:47Speaker 1: in the early portions of drives, where they've been starting
- 19:50Speaker 1: behind the sticks. They feel like a lot of what's
- 19:51Speaker 1: happened offensively is self inflicted wounds. We'll find out if
- 19:55Speaker 1: that's the case, if they clean those up, or it's
- 19:57Speaker 1: other aspects of this offense that they need to have
- 19:59Speaker 1: gel a little bit together, because we do know that
- 20:02Speaker 1: he that Russell Wilson has a connection with Courtland Sutton.
- 20:06Speaker 1: With the rest of the way the offense is flowing,
- 20:08Speaker 1: that still seems to be being figured out. And clearly
- 20:10Speaker 1: because you watched the Broncos, especially last week, they hit
- 20:13Speaker 1: some explosives right, but in between them, they didn't seem
- 20:15Speaker 1: like to be they were on schedules, and seems that
- 20:17Speaker 1: their offense is really only functioned well with Russell Wilson scrambles,
- 20:21Speaker 1: which hasn't been much, but when he's on the move,
- 20:23Speaker 1: it seems like the receivers can come on splattered and
- 20:26Speaker 1: they can get open. But otherwise, other than some of
- 20:28Speaker 1: the explosives, they just seem incredibly erratic. James, I want
- 20:32Speaker 1: to get to your first point as well, you know,
- 20:34Speaker 1: and losing Javonte Williams, who is a start running back.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Melvin Gordon has had the fumbling issues. I think that
- 20:40Speaker 1: is going to not I don't think it's gonna be
- 20:41Speaker 1: an issue. He did not have them before this season.
- 20:44Speaker 1: And when you watch Melvin Gordon on the fumbles, they're
- 20:46Speaker 1: those second effort type of fumbles where he's in traffic
- 20:49Speaker 1: tries to dig for another yard, much like Adrian Peterson
- 20:52Speaker 1: had for the one year he had fumbling issues. So
- 20:55Speaker 1: if Melvin Gordon kind of gets out of his own
- 20:57Speaker 1: head a little bit, I think he's gonna be fine.
- 21:00Speaker 1: It's gonna be tough sledding against this Colts offense, but again,
- 21:03Speaker 1: if they can run the ball and stay on schedule,
- 21:06Speaker 1: something they just have not looked really good doing consistently
- 21:08Speaker 1: this year. Their offense could finally turn a cornerback. It's
- 21:13Speaker 1: funny you mentioned get out of your own head. I
- 21:15Speaker 1: feel like the Broncos, the entire organization, you need to
- 21:18Speaker 1: get out of their own heads when it comes to
- 21:19Speaker 1: how they need to play. I think you have Russo
- 21:22Speaker 1: trying to play a certain way in terms of trying
- 21:24Speaker 1: to be that Tom Brady Drew Brees type quarterback when
- 21:27Speaker 1: he's built to be the playmaker, and I feel like
- 21:29Speaker 1: Nathaniel Hackett is trying to acquiesce to his quarterback. At
- 21:33Speaker 1: the end of the day, it's time for the Broncos
- 21:35Speaker 1: to do what they need to do to win games.
- 21:36Speaker 1: They missed successful when they've been able to run the ball.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Russell Wilson has broken the pocket and made plays. So
- 21:42Speaker 1: at some point they have to get off script and
- 21:44Speaker 1: play a little more improvised football to be able to
- 21:47Speaker 1: move it. How long is Russell Wilson going to stay
- 21:50Speaker 1: in the script before he decides I want to win
- 21:52Speaker 1: games and he goes back to playing the way that
- 21:54Speaker 1: he's played successfully throughout his career when he's on the edges,
- 21:58Speaker 1: making plays and not necessarily trying to prove to the
- 22:00Speaker 1: football world that he's a pocket pass. Now we are
- 22:08Speaker 1: joined by our Hall of Famer Kurt Warner once again
- 22:11Speaker 1: for the QB room and Kurt, I have a lot
- 22:14Speaker 1: of questions, a lot of quarterbacks to go through with you.
- 22:17Speaker 1: But the first one I have is the one that's
- 22:18Speaker 1: actually not playing football and has it for a few weeks.
- 22:21Speaker 1: You've had an injury to your throwing hand. I believe
- 22:24Speaker 1: in the past, what does Dak Prescott have to do
- 22:27Speaker 1: to show the Cowboys he can grip a ball, he
- 22:29Speaker 1: can go out there and play. And also in his absence,
- 22:32Speaker 1: what are you seeing from Cooper Rush? Well, the biggest
- 22:37Speaker 1: thing is it's about how you respond to a little
- 22:40Speaker 1: work on the hand. Is can we get the swelling
- 22:43Speaker 1: out of there? Because swelling equals a lack of strength,
- 22:46Speaker 1: and lack of strength equals lack of control with the football.
- 22:50Speaker 1: And then if you add other elements to it, depending
- 22:52Speaker 1: on where you're playing, if you're playing in cold weather.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I remember back in two thousand, I suffered a hand injury,
- 22:58Speaker 1: came back, probably tried to rush it a little bit,
- 23:00Speaker 1: came back a little early, played in Carolina. The weather
- 23:04Speaker 1: was a little bit, a little bit cold, and I
- 23:06Speaker 1: played awful. I couldn't control the football. I couldn't do
- 23:09Speaker 1: what I normally did with the football. I think back
- 23:12Speaker 1: to last year when Russell Wilson came back from his
- 23:14Speaker 1: hand injury, and he came back quick, and everybody was
- 23:17Speaker 1: excited about how fast he got on the field, and
- 23:20Speaker 1: he didn't look like the Russell Wilson we've come to
- 23:22Speaker 1: know because his hand wasn't strong enough to do what
- 23:25Speaker 1: he needed to do and make the different kinds of
- 23:27Speaker 1: throws that he was accustomed to making. And so for me,
- 23:30Speaker 1: because Cooper rush is playing extremely well, there is no
- 23:33Speaker 1: reason to Russ. Just make sure you're on so you
- 23:37Speaker 1: can go out and do what you want to do.
- 23:39Speaker 1: There's nothing more frustrating as a quarterback to go out
- 23:41Speaker 1: there and know what you're trying to do and not
- 23:44Speaker 1: be able to physically do that. And even though it
- 23:46Speaker 1: seems like a little thing when we're talking about, you know,
- 23:48Speaker 1: a thumb or a finger or the hand, it is
- 23:51Speaker 1: so instrumental in being able to to do and control
- 23:54Speaker 1: the football the way you want. On the other side,
- 23:56Speaker 1: Cooper Rushes just he's making most of the plays he's
- 24:00Speaker 1: supposed to make. That's what they're doing, is he's not
- 24:02Speaker 1: doing anything that's outrageous. But they're playing simple football, they're
- 24:06Speaker 1: playing good defense, and he's making key plays at critical moments.
- 24:11Speaker 1: He's playing the quarterback position exactly how you want a
- 24:14Speaker 1: backup quarterback to play when they come in. Don't try
- 24:17Speaker 1: to do too much. Just play the play have success.
- 24:20Speaker 1: If you have to pump one time, let your defense
- 24:22Speaker 1: do their job, and then go back out and make
- 24:25Speaker 1: enough plays to help us win. Cooper Rush is doing
- 24:27Speaker 1: exactly that well. When you look at Matthew Stafford Curt
- 24:31Speaker 1: and you look at him leading the NFL in interceptions
- 24:33Speaker 1: right now, you can throw the numbers out because he
- 24:35Speaker 1: tied for the lead to lead the league and interceptions
- 24:38Speaker 1: a season ago when they won the Super Bowl. But
- 24:39Speaker 1: outside of stats, what are you seeing from from Stafford
- 24:43Speaker 1: and the way this offense is operating that could give
- 24:46Speaker 1: you concern? Or is there no concern after this past week?
- 24:51Speaker 1: What offense is hard for him right now is that,
- 24:54Speaker 1: you know, I've always believed that, you know, to be
- 24:56Speaker 1: a really good offense, you want to be able to
- 24:58Speaker 1: create explosive plays. You've got to be able to change
- 25:01Speaker 1: the field. You've gotta be able to get big strike touchdowns.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And that's really in the m O of the Sean
- 25:06Speaker 1: McVeigh offense since he came to the Rams, was the
- 25:09Speaker 1: big play action design plays down the field and we
- 25:12Speaker 1: can get you know, long touchdowns over and over again.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Right now, they're not getting those things. They're not running
- 25:18Speaker 1: the football extremely well, they don't have anybody that's really
- 25:21Speaker 1: stretching the field, and they're not creating those big play opportunities.
- 25:25Speaker 1: So now everything is a ten twelve play drive. And
- 25:28Speaker 1: it is hard to play football in the NFL, especially
- 25:31Speaker 1: against good defenses like we saw on Monday night, and
- 25:34Speaker 1: make ten and twelve plays without making a mistake, without
- 25:37Speaker 1: giving up a sack. And so so much of it
- 25:40Speaker 1: right now is the hard dacin dunk five yards, six yards,
- 25:43Speaker 1: seven yard tight plays, they get set back and it's
- 25:47Speaker 1: hard for them to overcome that. When they try to
- 25:49Speaker 1: overcome it, it's Matthew Stafford putting the ball in harm's
- 25:52Speaker 1: way a little bit more. So, there's just not anything
- 25:56Speaker 1: easy going on in this offense right now. And and
- 25:58Speaker 1: so I am concerned because I wanted who's gonna be
- 26:01Speaker 1: that guy on the outside to make the big plays.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Can they establish a run game to help out their quarterback.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And nothing's easy when you play that San Francisco forty
- 26:09Speaker 1: Niners defense either. They don't make anything easy on whatever
- 26:12Speaker 1: offense they're going against. And we do know Matthew Stafford
- 26:15Speaker 1: Jared Goff right forever linked in their futures moving forward.
- 26:19Speaker 1: And we look at what Jared Goff is doing with
- 26:20Speaker 1: this Lions offense that is number one in the NFL
- 26:23Speaker 1: and points per game and the way he is playing.
- 26:25Speaker 1: What is the difference in Jared Goff and what you're
- 26:28Speaker 1: seeing in another year in Detroit. I don't know if
- 26:32Speaker 1: it's much different than what we saw from him with
- 26:34Speaker 1: the Rams, And we we so often forget that he
- 26:36Speaker 1: took that team to the Super Bowl and it was
- 26:39Speaker 1: under the formula of run the football, play action pass,
- 26:43Speaker 1: not as Jared Goff to drop back in the drop
- 26:45Speaker 1: back game and throw at forty times a game. That's
- 26:47Speaker 1: what they're doing in Detroit. They're running the football extremely well,
- 26:50Speaker 1: they're running the football really well in the red zone,
- 26:52Speaker 1: and they're allowing Jared Goff to be that complementary piece
- 26:56Speaker 1: that he could be. He can make all of the throws.
- 26:58Speaker 1: You give him a little bit of help with the
- 27:00Speaker 1: run game, protecting him up front, and this is what
- 27:03Speaker 1: he's capable of. So I'm not surprised that Jared Golf
- 27:07Speaker 1: is playing like this now that he's got some pieces
- 27:09Speaker 1: around him. We just forget because maybe he wasn't that
- 27:12Speaker 1: flashy Matthew Stafford, big armed quarterback. But this guy is
- 27:15Speaker 1: a good quarterback, won a lot of games in the
- 27:17Speaker 1: National Football League and has been to a Super Bowl.
- 27:20Speaker 1: I remember talking to his wide receiver of Monroe st Brown,
- 27:22Speaker 1: just a few weeks ago, and he said, there's just
- 27:24Speaker 1: something about Jared this season. He's just so comfortable and
- 27:27Speaker 1: what he's doing. There's also another guy out there that's
- 27:29Speaker 1: very comfortable. When he's on a football field. It appears
- 27:31Speaker 1: he can do whatever he wants to do, and that's
- 27:33Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes. I was at the game against the Colts, Kurt,
- 27:36Speaker 1: where everybody was questioning what was going on with this offense.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Andy Reid told us repeatedly, I can't get them into
- 27:42Speaker 1: a rhythm. I can't get this offense going the way
- 27:44Speaker 1: I wanted to, And then they go out and play
- 27:46Speaker 1: against a tough Bucks defense the way they did. What
- 27:48Speaker 1: did Patrick Mahomes show all of us in those two weeks?
- 27:51Speaker 1: Specifically what he just did this past Sunday. Well, everybody
- 27:55Speaker 1: sees the wow plays. What they don't understand is how
- 27:58Speaker 1: he's able to dissect each and every play. We draw
- 28:01Speaker 1: it up on a board and for most guys it's
- 28:04Speaker 1: gonna work this way or that way. For Patrick Mahomes,
- 28:07Speaker 1: he sees a multitude of ways that each and every
- 28:10Speaker 1: play can play out. That is a rare skill for
- 28:13Speaker 1: a quarterback. And so I think guys are trying to
- 28:15Speaker 1: catch up to what Patrick is seeing. And that's hard
- 28:18Speaker 1: when you've got new guys to go and man, this
- 28:20Speaker 1: could pop open right here and they're like, what are
- 28:22Speaker 1: you talking about? That's not how they designed it on
- 28:25Speaker 1: the board when we put it in on Monday. But
- 28:28Speaker 1: as they start to get more comfortable with what Patrick
- 28:30Speaker 1: has the ability to see, I think they're going to
- 28:33Speaker 1: be more successful. And that was what Sunday Night was
- 28:36Speaker 1: all about, is you have a defense throws a lot
- 28:39Speaker 1: of stuff at you, but the ability to see and
- 28:41Speaker 1: react to it quickly is why they had so much success.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It was guys starting to get on that same page
- 28:46Speaker 1: with Patrick Mahomes. And if they do that, it's gonna
- 28:48Speaker 1: be scary because their quarterback is scary all by himself,
- 28:51Speaker 1: and even when Tom Brady is trying to figure out
- 28:53Speaker 1: what you did on a football field, that's usually you
- 28:55Speaker 1: did something pretty impressive. Thank you, Kurt one Er quarterback
- 28:58Speaker 1: room loved every minute of it. Coming up, we're gonna
- 29:01Speaker 1: be with Mike Jority. We're gonna be talking about the Bengals,
- 29:04Speaker 1: the Ravens, one that I have my eye on on
- 29:06Speaker 1: Sunday for sure. Stay with us, Welcome back to NF
- 29:20Speaker 1: and al James Palmer with you. Week four saw Joe
- 29:22Speaker 1: Burrow in the Bengals mount a fourth quarter comeback in
- 29:25Speaker 1: hand the Dolphins their first loss of the season. This
- 29:28Speaker 1: week since he heads to Baltimore for a Sunday night
- 29:30Speaker 1: showdown with the Ravens, and it appears to already be
- 29:34Speaker 1: giving Joe Burrow and company some good bulletin board material.
- 29:40Speaker 1: We know what kind of team they are. They're really
- 29:41Speaker 1: good team. It's going to be a tough divisional rival game,
- 29:45Speaker 1: and that's part of football talking smack going out there.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's what I love about the game.
- 29:51Speaker 1: And I got a lot of friends on that team
- 29:52Speaker 1: that you know, I went to college with, played with.
- 29:55Speaker 1: It's all It's all love at the end of the day,
- 29:57Speaker 1: but it'll definitely be intense. What's intense is Mike Giardi
- 30:03Speaker 1: after a long plane ride, he despy as his germs
- 30:05Speaker 1: and now he's with us on NFL. Now Steve watch
- 30:08Speaker 1: along with us as well. Mike, you look impeccably dressed.
- 30:10Speaker 1: We were talking about in the break, but clothing aside.
- 30:12Speaker 1: What is the issue with this Baltimore Ravens team late
- 30:16Speaker 1: in games and is this something that is actually concerning
- 30:20Speaker 1: to hardball and his stuff? Well, they've now lost seven
- 30:23Speaker 1: straight games that were one score or less than five
- 30:25Speaker 1: of those last year to this year. But John Harber says,
- 30:28Speaker 1: if you want to make that the narrative, go right ahead.
- 30:30Speaker 1: He said, we have broad shoulders and we can handle this.
- 30:33Speaker 1: And he said, as as coaches and players, we just
- 30:35Speaker 1: worry about the next game and getting better for the
- 30:37Speaker 1: next game. He said. We have a team psychologist. You
- 30:39Speaker 1: shout at her out said, she does a good job
- 30:41Speaker 1: with that stuff. But we have to worry about football,
- 30:43Speaker 1: and so we have strong minded guys on this team,
- 30:46Speaker 1: he said, So I'm not really worried about our ability
- 30:48Speaker 1: to bounce back from a difficult loss like this. In fact,
- 30:51Speaker 1: he thought that they played better against the Buffalo Bills,
- 30:55Speaker 1: and they did the week before when they beat the
- 30:56Speaker 1: Patriots and put up thirty something points. So he said,
- 30:59Speaker 1: there there are signs that are positive here. And then
- 31:01Speaker 1: you can get right down to the nitty gritty and
- 31:03Speaker 1: say they've lost. They've been losing for fourteen seconds this
- 31:07Speaker 1: entire season. Four games, they've been trailing for fourteen seconds,
- 31:11Speaker 1: and yet they're two and two, so they can easily
- 31:13Speaker 1: be four. No. I think they feel good about what
- 31:16Speaker 1: they have in that room. They've got to tighten up defensively,
- 31:18Speaker 1: and they've got to get a little bit more running
- 31:20Speaker 1: game going. Of course, that takes something to load off of.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson and I can talk about how they can
- 31:24Speaker 1: tighten up defensively, but you know this is also where
- 31:26Speaker 1: they've got to tighten up offensively. You know, we put
- 31:28Speaker 1: so much of those two comeback losses on the defense.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Almost always comes down to if the offense can possess
- 31:33Speaker 1: the ball for two more first downs, you can win
- 31:36Speaker 1: the ball game. You keep the defense off the field,
- 31:38Speaker 1: you put yourself in a position to milk the clock,
- 31:40Speaker 1: and that's what the Ravens have to do. A little
- 31:41Speaker 1: bit better because they're playing a Bengals team that is
- 31:43Speaker 1: fantastic at defensive adjustments in the second half. So far
- 31:47Speaker 1: the season, they've allowed fifteen points after halftime. Remember that
- 31:51Speaker 1: includes and overtime. So this is a Bengals team that
- 31:54Speaker 1: is going to tighten things up in the defense. So
- 31:56Speaker 1: the execution of the Ravens offense has to be better. James,
- 31:59Speaker 1: that's kind of been a the issue when you see
- 32:01Speaker 1: these two comeback losses, that they have the execute a
- 32:03Speaker 1: little bit better in the second half offensively that wonless
- 32:06Speaker 1: ball games. You know, the Ravens have been outscored in
- 32:08Speaker 1: the second in the fourth quarter forty three tonight. That's
- 32:11Speaker 1: not good. That's not what you want to do. That's
- 32:12Speaker 1: not good. That's not what you wanted to Mike. Let
- 32:14Speaker 1: me ask you with Cincinnati and what's going on. They
- 32:17Speaker 1: obviously got to win over the Dolphins, but with the
- 32:19Speaker 1: run game the past game, is it really coming together
- 32:23Speaker 1: the way that Joe Burrow and company would like it too? Well,
- 32:26Speaker 1: we haven't seen James and Steve the same offense we
- 32:28Speaker 1: saw last year that really took the league by storm,
- 32:30Speaker 1: especially in the second half of the season. Remember it
- 32:32Speaker 1: took a little while to get Jamaar Chase going, but
- 32:34Speaker 1: once they did, he and Joe Burrow were electric. And
- 32:37Speaker 1: then you add Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd Joe Mixon
- 32:40Speaker 1: coming out of the backfield, and they were very difficult
- 32:42Speaker 1: to game plan for and to stop. One of the
- 32:44Speaker 1: things that I find very interesting is that the Bengals
- 32:47Speaker 1: are still trying to find their offensive identity. They've seen
- 32:49Speaker 1: a lot of that too high safety look, right, we're
- 32:52Speaker 1: just trying to take away the deep ball, and you
- 32:53Speaker 1: haven't seen a ton out of Jamaar Chase thus far
- 32:56Speaker 1: this year. But they're slowly adjusting. They're putting Joe Burrow
- 32:59Speaker 1: under center more and more variety of looks, better play action,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and now they've really got to focus on getting Joe
- 33:05Speaker 1: Mixing going. He's averaging two point seven yards per carry.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Joe Mixon is too good for that. They invested too
- 33:10Speaker 1: much in this offensive line. I thought they protected Burrow
- 33:13Speaker 1: better against the Dolphins, but now they have to take
- 33:15Speaker 1: that next step and become a better run blocking team
- 33:18Speaker 1: as well, because, look, the pieces are all there for
- 33:21Speaker 1: them to be just as good as they were last year.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Might have to do it a little differently. Might not
- 33:24Speaker 1: be able to push the ball down the field as
- 33:26Speaker 1: much as they did, but there's more there for them
- 33:28Speaker 1: to work with. You know. Well, this past week was
- 33:30Speaker 1: the first time in thirteen games that Joe Burrow was
- 33:33Speaker 1: sacked two times or fewer. White Unis all white unis.
- 33:36Speaker 1: They need to rock those a little bit more like
- 33:38Speaker 1: the White Unions, like the White Helmets. Appreciate it, Mike,
- 33:42Speaker 1: appreciate it. We have Dolphins Jets coming up week five,
- 33:47Speaker 1: and we know the two A tone of violo is
- 33:49Speaker 1: not playing in this game. We know that Zach Wilson
- 33:51Speaker 1: actually limited due to an ankle injury in practice this week.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Will monitor that. But here's two A tone of volos.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Head coach Mike mcdanion. I have a clear clip vision
- 34:03Speaker 1: and what it's gonna take for our guys to be
- 34:06Speaker 1: happy with their performance on Sunday, because I know how
- 34:09Speaker 1: detailed UM and UH and passionate and how much energy
- 34:15Speaker 1: those guys and UH wherever they're at New York, New Jersey.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Those guys are preparing for US UH UM today on
- 34:23Speaker 1: Wednesday and for the rest of the week with all
- 34:25Speaker 1: their speed. Mike is a hard a run run first guy.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Mike mc daniel and he wants to run the ball,
- 34:30Speaker 1: so and they you've got exotic runs, and you've got
- 34:32Speaker 1: to be able to pay attention to that part of it,
- 34:35Speaker 1: um because if you just sit there and try to
- 34:37Speaker 1: play as far back as you can, they can guess
- 34:39Speaker 1: you in the run game. Uh So it's it's a
- 34:42Speaker 1: tremendous challenge because of the amount of stress they put
- 34:44Speaker 1: on you vertically and horizontally. Judy Batista Bucky Brooks joined
- 34:50Speaker 1: me now, and as we look at this matchup, Judy,
- 34:52Speaker 1: I know Tyreek Hill said that I think myself for
- 34:55Speaker 1: Bucky or you could throw him the football and he'd
- 34:57Speaker 1: be just fine. But it's gonna be Teddy Bridgewater that's
- 34:59Speaker 1: gonna be out there in place of tow a tongue
- 35:01Speaker 1: of biolo. What are we gonna expect from from Teddy
- 35:04Speaker 1: running this offense compared to the success that we have
- 35:06Speaker 1: seen with two running Well, you heard Robert Sala say
- 35:10Speaker 1: that at heart, Mike McDaniel is actually a run first coach.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Maybe so, but they're only twenty nine in running offense
- 35:17Speaker 1: to I had them third in passing offense. Teddy Bridgewater
- 35:22Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel made the point This is why you go
- 35:24Speaker 1: out and spend a chunk of change in free agency
- 35:27Speaker 1: on a guy that theoretically is never going to be
- 35:29Speaker 1: on the field your backup quarterback, because you need somebody
- 35:33Speaker 1: when you have burners like Tyree Hill and Jalen Waddle,
- 35:36Speaker 1: you need somebody who can deliver the ball to hip
- 35:39Speaker 1: to those guys. I think we will see Teddy Bridgewater
- 35:42Speaker 1: throw the ball. Certainly, they would love to get the
- 35:43Speaker 1: running game going. Generally, no matter who the quarterback is,
- 35:46Speaker 1: they'd like to get it going more than they've had
- 35:48Speaker 1: it going. But Teddy Bridgewater is capable of delivering passes
- 35:52Speaker 1: to those wide receivers as a starter since he's eleven
- 35:57Speaker 1: and eighteen, but he's thrown thirty three touchdown passes and
- 36:00Speaker 1: eighteen interceptions. He's never had anything close to these two
- 36:04Speaker 1: receivers that he's going to be throwing the ball too.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I expect Teddy Bridgewater to maintain as much of the
- 36:10Speaker 1: offense as they possibly can well, also trying to get
- 36:13Speaker 1: the running game going. Cockey. Yeah, Judy, It's interesting about
- 36:18Speaker 1: Teddy Bridgewater because I think some would say that when
- 36:20Speaker 1: Teddy Bridgewater was signed, it was an insurance policy against
- 36:24Speaker 1: two a ton about Lord maybe not being able to
- 36:26Speaker 1: play at a high level. So now he gets an
- 36:27Speaker 1: opportunity to play with Look, let's be honest, a ferrari
- 36:30Speaker 1: of an offense, all kinds of stuff available to him.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Jalen Waddle, Uh, you have Tyreek Yill if Mike Gasicky,
- 36:36Speaker 1: you have a running game that hasn't got on cranked.
- 36:39Speaker 1: But if this offense gets going on the running game,
- 36:41Speaker 1: then it really opens up the field for Teddy Bridgewater.
- 36:44Speaker 1: And the one thing, Judy that you pointed out the
- 36:46Speaker 1: touchdown the interception ratio. Teddy Bridgewater typically is not a
- 36:51Speaker 1: turnover prone quarterback, and so you can win a lot
- 36:53Speaker 1: of games but not turning it over. And so the
- 36:56Speaker 1: way that Mike m Daniel dials of this offense and
- 36:58Speaker 1: designs this offense, if Teddy Bridgewater just plays according to
- 37:02Speaker 1: the script, the Miami offense off and shouldn't skip a
- 37:04Speaker 1: beat because the quarterback that have is a solid caretaker
- 37:08Speaker 1: who can't make a handful of plays with the weapons
- 37:09Speaker 1: yet around. But he remember him been filling in for
- 37:12Speaker 1: Drew Brees a few years ago. Goes five and oh
- 37:14Speaker 1: off the bench running that Saints offense. Now to the Jets, quarterback.
- 37:18Speaker 1: You look at what Zach Wilson did in his first
- 37:21Speaker 1: game back, Judy there down in the fourth quarter, he
- 37:23Speaker 1: leads touchdown drives of eighty one yard sixty five yards
- 37:26Speaker 1: to come back and win this game. Is this the
- 37:28Speaker 1: type of maybe fourth quarter or momentum the Jets would
- 37:31Speaker 1: like to see in how Zach Wilson is playing to
- 37:34Speaker 1: carry over through this game and hopefully moving forward. They've
- 37:38Speaker 1: loved it, certainly. Robert Sala said today what he liked
- 37:41Speaker 1: when he looked at the film was how he was
- 37:42Speaker 1: hanging in the pockets. Zach Wilson, he wasn't retreating even
- 37:45Speaker 1: though he was facing pressure. That offensive line has been
- 37:48Speaker 1: a bit of a muddle for the Jets this year,
- 37:50Speaker 1: but he hangs in there. He had some moxie in
- 37:53Speaker 1: that game. As you pointed out, he was up and
- 37:55Speaker 1: down in the first three quarters, but then in the
- 37:57Speaker 1: fourth quarter he was on fire. Ten of twelve. He
- 38:00Speaker 1: lived two very long touchdown drives when they needed it most.
- 38:05Speaker 1: They think they can build on that. They have been
- 38:07Speaker 1: talking since training camp about the leadership ability and about
- 38:11Speaker 1: how he was grasping the offense. Of course, he was rusty.
- 38:15Speaker 1: That was his first appearance, but they think he may
- 38:17Speaker 1: have gotten the rust out in the first three quarters,
- 38:20Speaker 1: and we're going to see more of what we saw
- 38:21Speaker 1: in the fourth. Thank you Judy, Thank you Bucky. Whoever
