- 0:29Speaker 1: Ladies, gentlemen, Vesendem's welcome to the third annual Halloween Week
- 0:36Speaker 1: with Wicked and Grim. My name is Jacko and it
- 0:43Speaker 1: is my absolute pleasure to return as the master of
- 0:47Speaker 1: Ceremonies for over the course of the next seven days,
- 0:52Speaker 1: we shall facilitate some of the most terrifying stories from
- 0:56Speaker 1: the world of true crime and beyond. So I do
- 1:00Speaker 1: hope you are ready to put your will to the test,
- 1:05Speaker 1: as this is of course not for the faint of heart.
- 1:10Speaker 1: For example, into day's episode, we journey into the unsettling
- 1:15Speaker 1: story of the Tallman family, whose peaceful life took a
- 1:21Speaker 1: terrifying turn when they brought home a seemingly innocuous bunk bed.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Of course, it was.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Anything but, as it seemed to be instead playing host
- 1:35Speaker 1: to some terrifying entities. But before I delve too deep
- 1:40Speaker 1: into the tale, I should refrain from divulging too much information,
- 1:47Speaker 1: as Nicole is graciously taking on the role of educating
- 1:51Speaker 1: us in the matter. So without further Ado, let me
- 1:57Speaker 1: introduce you to your hosts. Ladies, gentlemen, theyse and MS.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I give you the hosts of Wicked and Grim, Ben
- 2:09Speaker 1: and Nicole.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Whoa, It's Halloween week yackles. That was one.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I mean, like Jacko actually makes it just sound like
- 2:21Speaker 3: we're better than we are pretty much.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I almost feel like he's like the ringleader, just like
- 2:26Speaker 2: amping us up.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Man it did ATMP me up.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I'm pump same, I'm stoked. And you apparently have a
- 2:32Speaker 2: dope ass story you're telling today that sounds a haunted
- 2:35Speaker 2: bunk bed.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I know, really, this is this is bizarre. I'm actually
- 2:39Speaker 3: a little bit shocked myself that I chose this one.
- 2:43Speaker 2: It sounds interesting. It's not the true crime genre we
- 2:45Speaker 2: can normally go with, but I mean, it's Halloween week.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We're gonna do whatever is spooky and awesome. Yes, also
- 2:52Speaker 2: true crime.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Because you know what Halloween Week means. It means we
- 2:56Speaker 3: have a whole freakin' week that's awesome.
- 3:00Speaker 2: That too, can my mind immediately.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Ben's already been through like a box of Canathy and
- 3:06Speaker 3: he's just opened the other ones.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And I'm also drinking margarita right now.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah. You know, it's kind of unfair because we usually
- 3:13Speaker 3: record in the evening, and I think a lot of
- 3:15Speaker 3: people probably listen in the morning, so they might not
- 3:18Speaker 3: be rocking a margarita. But you know what, that was
- 3:20Speaker 3: your job for today to rock a margarita.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't at some point, at some point, margarita,
- 3:28Speaker 2: a virgin one, a double, don't matter drinking margarita.
- 3:31Speaker 3: And it could any time any day of Halloween week.
- 3:35Speaker 3: There we go.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And if you don't want it, that's cool too.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Drink water could also be a virgin margarita. You know,
- 3:41Speaker 3: doesn't have to be alcohol.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I already said that, Oh did you Yeah? Great minds
- 3:44Speaker 2: think alike.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Okay, okay, So we also promised that we would kind
- 3:50Speaker 3: of share what's up for this Halloween week a.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Bit of a schedule drop.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Hey, yeah, So, like I said, we are going to
- 3:58Speaker 3: have episodes from today until Halloween.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yep.
- 4:04Speaker 3: We also have Fearful. Yep, Fearful is dropping once again.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Fearful is dropping new episodes today. You can expect it
- 4:13Speaker 2: to drop at noon Pacific standard time to day, so
- 4:18Speaker 2: if you're listening early in the morning, might not be
- 4:20Speaker 2: out just yet. We're giving you a little bit of
- 4:22Speaker 2: brief time so you can listen to this and then
- 4:24Speaker 2: rock that. But Fearful is dropping noon right now today.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and so if you haven't already listened to Fearful,
- 4:31Speaker 3: it already does have five episodes out, so if some
- 4:34Speaker 3: more dropping, and it is Jacko's podcast, so it's really cool.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It's definitely worth a listen.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I love it, so give it a search. So go
- 4:43Speaker 2: do it Spotify, Apple Podcasts wherever you are listening right now,
- 4:48Speaker 2: it's on the same platform. Just look up Fearful you'll
- 4:50Speaker 2: find me. Yep.
- 4:52Speaker 3: We also are going to have a merch drop yep.
- 4:55Speaker 3: So we have one new design that's going to be
- 4:57Speaker 3: coming out as well. We also have a Patreon exclusive
- 5:02Speaker 3: Jacko re release of a design.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Yes, so the very first week we ever had our
- 5:07Speaker 2: Patreon running, there was one week only this design was available.
- 5:12Speaker 2: It's never been available again and never will be available again. However,
- 5:15Speaker 2: we are re releasing it with different colors, so it's
- 5:18Speaker 2: an alternate version of the original and it will only
- 5:22Speaker 2: be available again for one week and then again never
- 5:26Speaker 2: to be released right, which is very cool.
- 5:29Speaker 3: We're also going to be doing a T shirt giveaway
- 5:32Speaker 3: one that's going to be on Patreon and our social
- 5:35Speaker 3: media's and then we're doing a live stream on Halloween
- 5:40Speaker 3: with You'll have to tune in to see some costumes
- 5:44Speaker 3: we're dressing up.
- 5:45Speaker 2: We got some costumes we're going to be rockets. We're
- 5:47Speaker 2: going to rock it over on Instagram are live, and
- 5:50Speaker 2: then from there after a little while, we're going to
- 5:52Speaker 2: move the live stream over to our Patreon to continue
- 5:54Speaker 2: doing a bit of a live stream. Then yeah, yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 2: is that it? I think that's it. Hey, well we're
- 6:00Speaker 2: doing seven solid days. Well yeah, And there's also because
- 6:04Speaker 2: the thirty first is the end of the month, the
- 6:05Speaker 2: Patreon is getting an exclusive episode again.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And a bonus exclusive.
- 6:09Speaker 2: And a bonus exclusive where we're actually going to talk
- 6:12Speaker 2: about Jacko's backstory.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Goodness, gracious, this is a jam packed week.
- 6:18Speaker 2: It's gonna be good, almost real good. Almost as good
- 6:22Speaker 2: as this margarita mm hmm.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Or the mac and cheese that I made yesterday.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Oh that was really good.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah, Ben was just obsessed.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah it had bacon. Okay, it had bacon.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Bacon and mac and cheese is so freaking good.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It's like it's like spaghetti and meatballs. Okay, it just
- 6:38Speaker 2: goes together, it does.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Okay, So I think, without further ado, we're ready to roll.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I'm like literally like shaking him.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I know.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I actually I'm not lying.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Like, look at this shit, you are You're really we're
- 6:49Speaker 3: both pretty hyped up. Actually it might.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Just because I'm cold from the margarita, though I don't know.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we need to like calm our tits
- 6:56Speaker 3: a little bit and you know, just chill. Okay, Halloween
- 6:59Speaker 3: is about chilling.
- 7:00Speaker 2: We're breathing. We got this going to be fun, I know.
- 7:03Speaker 3: But I'm like feeling pretty hyped up too, and I
- 7:05Speaker 3: think it's just exciting. It is so cool that we're
- 7:08Speaker 3: actually already on our third out annual Halloween Week. Like
- 7:12Speaker 3: I never envisioned this, so it's very proud and exciting
- 7:15Speaker 3: for us.
- 7:15Speaker 2: It is like, like, let's take a moment just reflect
- 7:18Speaker 2: on that. Three years of Halloween Week, three years of
- 7:21Speaker 2: Wicked and Grim.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Like it's so awesome.
- 7:25Speaker 3: It just blows my mind still and it just like
- 7:27Speaker 3: makes my heart feel soul.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Full our little little spooky hearts, yeah, our black heart. Yeah.
- 7:34Speaker 2: All right, We've I think covered everything we need to cover.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Just so you guys know if you do sign up
- 7:40Speaker 2: for Patreon when we are always thanking our patrons, We're
- 7:43Speaker 2: not going to thank patrons throughout Halloween Week, but we
- 7:46Speaker 2: will on the next Tuesday episode, which I believe is
- 7:49Speaker 2: Halloween day itself, the thirty first. That's when we'll thank
- 7:52Speaker 2: any patreons that do sign up during the week, just
- 7:55Speaker 2: so you know.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, so there we go.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Other than that, I'm ready to get into this.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, okay, shake it off here.
- 8:02Speaker 2: And Nicole's doing this one.
- 8:03Speaker 3: It's not yeah, I'm certain it's off. It's pretty cool.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:07Speaker 3: So it all began in May nineteen eighty seven when
- 8:11Speaker 3: Allan and Deborah Tallman purchased a second hand bunk bed
- 8:16Speaker 3: for their children.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Okay, gotcha, gotcha.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Bunk bed seemingly innocent, but it was far from it.
- 8:23Speaker 3: What followed would shock not only their quiet town of Horricin,
- 8:27Speaker 3: but the world at large. The Tallmans, which was a
- 8:31Speaker 3: church going Midwest family, quickly found their lives unraveling in
- 8:37Speaker 3: the presence of the bunk beds, setting the stage for
- 8:40Speaker 3: a series of inexplicable events.
- 8:44Speaker 2: That's a very strange sentence to say, in the presence
- 8:47Speaker 2: of the bunk.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yes, I know, I actually didn't think I'd ever be
- 8:50Speaker 3: saying that sentence.
- 8:52Speaker 2: That sounds like something straight out of a Monty Python movie.
- 8:54Speaker 2: If I'm not, If I'm being honest.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Yeah, no, the bunk beds, like, well, here you you
- 9:00Speaker 3: can at the end tell me what your real thoughts,
- 9:03Speaker 3: you know. Fair enough, okay, But first, before we dive
- 9:06Speaker 3: into the story, I wanted to share a bit about
- 9:08Speaker 3: the Tomans themselves. So the family consisted of five individuals.
- 9:12Speaker 3: There was Alan and Deborah, which were the parents, and
- 9:15Speaker 3: they had three children. They had a son and two daughters,
- 9:18Speaker 3: the son being the eldest. The family lived in a
- 9:21Speaker 3: suburban home in Horrican, Wisconsin, which they purchased the previous
- 9:26Speaker 3: year in nineteen eighty six. And this home was their
- 9:29Speaker 3: dream home, the home that they kind of expected that
- 9:32Speaker 3: they would be living in for many many years. You know.
- 9:36Speaker 3: They saved their pennies or like this this was their home.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Good on them forgetting.
- 9:40Speaker 3: That goal exactly. So Horrikin was a small farming town.
- 9:45Speaker 3: And when I say small, because I think a lot
- 9:47Speaker 3: of times when we say small, we think like our
- 9:49Speaker 3: size of town. But it was approximately only thirty five
- 9:52Speaker 3: hundred people. So that's like pretty small, yeah, And it's
- 9:56Speaker 3: about the same size still to this day. The four
- 9:59Speaker 3: year old home at the time had an estimated market
- 10:03Speaker 3: value of fifty thousand dollars.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It was only four years old, so it's a pretty
- 10:07Speaker 2: new build.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah, which honestly that price Eggs, doesn't that
- 10:12Speaker 3: sound so nice?
- 10:13Speaker 2: Matt? We pay that for a car nowadays, Brandon car
- 10:16Speaker 2: even more.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Actually yeah, and I wrote that down. I was just like,
- 10:19Speaker 3: oh my gosh. So early in February nineteen eighty seven,
- 10:25Speaker 3: Alan and Deborah were in search of a bunk bed
- 10:28Speaker 3: for their girls. They would eventually find one from a
- 10:31Speaker 3: thrift store that they did purchase, and while it appeared ordinary,
- 10:37Speaker 3: it carried with it a dark force.
- 10:40Speaker 2: There was a darkness to this bunk dark force, gotcha.
- 10:44Speaker 3: The tom and family's troubles began almost immediately after the
- 10:47Speaker 3: bed was moved into their home, and escalated once the
- 10:51Speaker 3: bed was moved upstairs.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I'm terrible because immediately when you're like, the troubles started
- 10:58Speaker 2: immediately right in my head, I was like, oh, the troubles, PVT.
- 11:02Speaker 2: They're trying to get it through the hallway.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Oh oh man, That's when I got ready.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's probably the initial trouble, though I know
- 11:08Speaker 2: that's not even close to the troubles you're referring to.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Well, as far as I could tell, this bed did
- 11:13Speaker 3: require some assembling. So they assembled the bed, so it
- 11:16Speaker 3: was probably easier to bring into the house. They did
- 11:19Speaker 3: assemble it into the family like in the family's basement,
- 11:22Speaker 3: and they left and shored it there until May, so
- 11:25Speaker 3: it stayed downstairs for a couple months, when it was
- 11:27Speaker 3: then moved upstairs to be used. So the first noticeable
- 11:31Speaker 3: change once the bed was brought into the home was
- 11:34Speaker 3: with the kids and how they suddenly became ill for
- 11:37Speaker 3: no apparent reason, which really isn't super like out of
- 11:41Speaker 3: the ordinary, because I feel like kids kind of share
- 11:44Speaker 3: their germs a lot.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Kids are always getting sick.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Yeah, so a sick kid, I mean, I don't think
- 11:50Speaker 3: is super questionable.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not exactly paranormal or super parent supernatural or anything.
- 11:55Speaker 3: But it was noted that the kids rarely ever got
- 11:58Speaker 3: sick previously, So okay, it was rare, because there was
- 12:03Speaker 3: even in one of the documentaries that I watched, like
- 12:05Speaker 3: the mom had said in a given week she could
- 12:09Speaker 3: have each kid into the doctor's office. So it was
- 12:12Speaker 3: a lot, right, Like that would be a lot for
- 12:14Speaker 3: mom to deal with. Yeah, that was just the tip
- 12:18Speaker 3: of the iceberg. Though mysterious occurrences became an everyday or
- 12:23Speaker 3: deal along with the children mysteriously falling ill. Things escalated
- 12:28Speaker 3: as soon as the bed was slept in a clock
- 12:32Speaker 3: radio switched channels by itself. This occurred to the sun
- 12:38Speaker 3: and it was the night that the bed was actually
- 12:39Speaker 3: brought upstairs. After his parents said good night to him,
- 12:43Speaker 3: the clock radio in his room took on a life
- 12:46Speaker 3: of its own.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Oh shit.
- 12:48Speaker 3: He rushed to tell his parents that he saw the
- 12:51Speaker 3: radio's indicator like it was kind of one of those
- 12:53Speaker 3: old ones where you're like switching channels and you kind
- 12:55Speaker 3: of see the line like moving.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you actually have to like physically turn the dial. Yeah,
- 12:59Speaker 2: and you got like scroll through.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Yes, So this radio's indicator was moving on its own,
- 13:05Speaker 3: like on its own, and so he rushed to go
- 13:09Speaker 3: freakin tell his parents what the shit was happening. But
- 13:12Speaker 3: being that this seemed quite far fetched really, the parents
- 13:16Speaker 3: didn't believe him, and they just kind of chalked it
- 13:19Speaker 3: up to his overactive imagination, which I don't blame them
- 13:24Speaker 3: for because that would be pretty weird.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah. See, I was expecting you to say, like it
- 13:28Speaker 2: switched from like AM to FM, which is like generally
- 13:31Speaker 2: as easy as a switch or a button, right, but
- 13:33Speaker 2: actually scrolling through.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so they actually actually just took the the
- 13:39Speaker 3: like the clock radio away from him, kind of like,
- 13:41Speaker 3: oh yeah, you know, you can't be playing with this,
- 13:44Speaker 3: like it's your bedtime kind of thing.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 3: So the peaceful nights that the Tallman family once had
- 13:51Speaker 3: turned into nightmares, as the children describe seeing a terrifying
- 13:55Speaker 3: old woman with fiery eyes and hair and disembold body
- 14:00Speaker 3: voices echoed through their empty rooms.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Well fuck, oh no, all right, okay.
- 14:08Speaker 3: And when the youngest daughter was sleeping in the bunk bed,
- 14:11Speaker 3: she claimed that she had seen a red eyed witch
- 14:14Speaker 3: behind her door. She also claimed that she saw fire
- 14:19Speaker 3: in her room, like it was like the room was
- 14:21Speaker 3: set on fire.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I'm thinking like someone burned at the steak sort of
- 14:24Speaker 2: things going on here. Oh my gosh, But I don't
- 14:26Speaker 2: understand how that ties into a bunk bed. So I'm
- 14:29Speaker 2: curious and what you have, what information.
- 14:31Speaker 3: You might have. So the Sun was also not aware
- 14:35Speaker 3: of like what the the youngest daughter had been telling
- 14:40Speaker 3: the parents.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, oh I just thought of something. Sorry, okay, yeah,
- 14:43Speaker 2: what if it was involved in like a house fire
- 14:45Speaker 2: or something. Okay, okay, I think all right.
- 14:49Speaker 3: So the Sun was unaware of what his sister had
- 14:51Speaker 3: seen and what she was telling the parents, and then
- 14:54Speaker 3: he stated that he saw the same thing about a
- 14:57Speaker 3: month later.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Oh shit, like only shit. So they're corroborating each other's
- 15:02Speaker 2: story without even knowing it.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Yeap, So Alan the dad. His first incidence of weirdness
- 15:08Speaker 3: occurred when he was downstairs painting the basement. So he
- 15:12Speaker 3: needed a break. He was painting, you know, he went
- 15:14Speaker 3: upstairs and he was going to have some lunch. But
- 15:17Speaker 3: when he returned, and he was having lunch with his
- 15:19Speaker 3: whole family. So when he returned, the paintbrush that he
- 15:23Speaker 3: had used he placed normally, but when he went back,
- 15:26Speaker 3: it was sticking out of the bucket of paint with
- 15:29Speaker 3: the bristles sticking up. So the handle of this paintbrush
- 15:33Speaker 3: was stuck into the paint can. Yeah, which is not normal.
- 15:39Speaker 3: He wouldn't have left it like.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, okay.
- 15:42Speaker 3: You were just like staring at it.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Sounded like there was something else you were gonna say.
- 15:46Speaker 2: That's why I was waiting. I was like okay.
- 15:47Speaker 3: And then but honestly, like ghosts or not, that would
- 15:50Speaker 3: hiss me on that is a freaking mess and a half. Yeah,
- 15:54Speaker 3: it is like I would just throw that paintbrush away.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but like.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I think that's almost there's me that could be slightly
- 16:01Speaker 3: explainable still because like say, he just rested it on
- 16:05Speaker 3: the top of the can and then there was like
- 16:07Speaker 3: a movement of sorts and it fell inwards. So I'm like,
- 16:10Speaker 3: so far, I'm like, uh, you know.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah, because you said he was in the basement and
- 16:14Speaker 2: he went upstairs with quick.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, so even like going up the stairs, right
- 16:16Speaker 3: or something.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Could send like enough jolt through the floorboards or something
- 16:19Speaker 2: like that, or yeah, house, just enough to vibrate that
- 16:22Speaker 2: and fall in or something.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 3: But I mean, along with all of his kids' stories
- 16:26Speaker 3: and stuff, like maybe there's something in the back of
- 16:28Speaker 3: his mind already, right.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 3: So the family was driven to the brink of despair,
- 16:34Speaker 3: decided that they needed to seek some sort of help,
- 16:38Speaker 3: and they reached out to their pasture with growing concerns.
- 16:42Speaker 3: The pastor performed a walk through of the house and
- 16:45Speaker 3: he two sents the presence of evil within this suburban home.
- 16:49Speaker 3: He believed that they were victims of the devil. He
- 16:53Speaker 3: was certain that a demonic presence was in their home,
- 16:57Speaker 3: but he found no evidence that they were found advocating
- 17:00Speaker 3: in the incident, so he was like he was believing them.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I will say this though, I am generally very skeptic
- 17:06Speaker 2: of let me say, a paranormal investigator, a pastor, anyone
- 17:13Speaker 2: of that sort of type of role who comes into
- 17:15Speaker 2: a home specifically to deal with a potential entity, generally
- 17:20Speaker 2: because they're getting paid to come in, or maybe not
- 17:24Speaker 2: even getting paid, but the expectation is they're going to
- 17:26Speaker 2: take care of a certain situation. Yeah, so they already
- 17:29Speaker 2: know ahead of time what to expect. So when they
- 17:33Speaker 2: come in a lot of time there's like a placebo
- 17:36Speaker 2: effect going on. Yeah, there might be a draft in
- 17:39Speaker 2: a door or something. They're oh, cold spot demon, you
- 17:42Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like little things like that where
- 17:44Speaker 2: they're not even realizing it. Yeah, And these sort of
- 17:47Speaker 2: things can feed on just an imagination.
- 17:49Speaker 3: It's like when you have a session with a psychic,
- 17:52Speaker 3: you're not supposed to divulge any information high or to
- 17:55Speaker 3: or whatever.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Because then it can be fed off of and then
- 17:58Speaker 2: you can just to snowballs.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yeah. So he went about blessing their house's good. Yes,
- 18:05Speaker 3: he did go about blessing it. So, however, even this
- 18:09Speaker 3: could not quell the relentless activity that had taken hold
- 18:13Speaker 3: of their lives. The hauntings they were experiencing did not subside.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Damn good writing that cannot quell it? Yeah, hell yeah
- 18:22Speaker 2: could shot on that. That was dope.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I know that's a cool word. Actually, I want to
- 18:26Speaker 3: start using it on a daily basis. So a week
- 18:29Speaker 3: before Christmas, the Sun once again saw something horrifying and
- 18:34Speaker 3: told his mother that he wanted to leave. Like, imagine
- 18:38Speaker 3: just your kids saying like you don't want they don't
- 18:40Speaker 3: want to live in their home anymore. Like that's that's
- 18:42Speaker 3: got to be kind of a gut punch, in my opinion.
- 18:45Speaker 2: The dream home that you've been saving up for.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Yeap. So frustrated, Alan lost his cool, like he was
- 18:53Speaker 3: just done. He started screaming at the top of his
- 18:56Speaker 3: lungs in the living room. He told the spirits to
- 19:00Speaker 3: leave his children alone and if they were looking for
- 19:03Speaker 3: a fight, that they needed to fight him.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Shit.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Yeah. And when I was kind of reading that and
- 19:13Speaker 3: writing this, I was like, what a sight that would
- 19:14Speaker 3: be as a child to see your dad doing that. Yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 3: I mean like I just feel like that would just
- 19:22Speaker 3: be something that you would just never forget, Like your
- 19:24Speaker 3: dad just freaking out and like yelling at these evil
- 19:27Speaker 3: spirits in your house.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I think that's like a superhero moment. Though generally speaking,
- 19:33Speaker 2: a lot of kids look up to like a parental figure,
- 19:35Speaker 2: a guardian, or someone who's looking after him, like bigger
- 19:38Speaker 2: than them, like almost like they're invincible. Like, you know,
- 19:41Speaker 2: I stub my toe where I fall and scrape many
- 19:43Speaker 2: in the playground. I cry my dad, you know he
- 19:46Speaker 2: falls or something. He doesn't cry. Yeah, And then it's
- 19:48Speaker 2: like I have this thing that I don't know what
- 19:50Speaker 2: it is, terrifying me.
- 19:52Speaker 3: And he's not scared.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Yeah, like the monster under the bad sort of thing. Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 2: and he's sitting here, fuck off, leave my kid alone.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Want to fight fight me? Fight me? Yeah, Like holy shit.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I know, but I just I justn't thinking like this
- 20:06Speaker 3: small kid just staring watching their dad, like it's just
- 20:09Speaker 3: seeming alarming.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It would be alarming, don't get me wrong. But I
- 20:12Speaker 2: also think it would kind of be a harrowing experience
- 20:14Speaker 2: at the same time, and I think it'd probably be confusing.
- 20:17Speaker 2: They'm not too sure how to process it either.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Yeah, well it's very odd. But yeah, so he wanted
- 20:23Speaker 3: them to fight him, and that's just what happened on
- 20:27Speaker 3: January nineteen eighty eight. Alan returned home from work. He
- 20:31Speaker 3: was working like a late shift, so he arrived home
- 20:34Speaker 3: at about two in the morning. Outside the grat the garage,
- 20:38Speaker 3: he heard an eerie howling sound, so we went to investigate.
- 20:43Speaker 3: The howling kind of just continued and it kind of
- 20:45Speaker 3: got louder, and then a voice came out of the
- 20:48Speaker 3: howling and said, come here. Oh shit, Like, there's no
- 20:54Speaker 3: fucking way that I would be going there. There's like
- 20:56Speaker 3: I don't care. But he went around the house to
- 20:59Speaker 3: see if anyone was there, but there was no one.
- 21:03Speaker 3: When he went back to the front of the house,
- 21:05Speaker 3: he saw that there was like a glow coming from
- 21:08Speaker 3: his garage and his garage was actually on fire. Fuck,
- 21:13Speaker 3: so he rushed inside. He was like scared shitless, right,
- 21:17Speaker 3: so rush inside and he locked the door behind him,
- 21:21Speaker 3: And I don't think he was even comprehending what he
- 21:24Speaker 3: just saw or heard. But then after a moment he realized, like, shit,
- 21:28Speaker 3: my garage is on fire. So he went back outside,
- 21:33Speaker 3: only to find that the fire was out and there
- 21:36Speaker 3: actually hadn't been a fire at all. The garage door
- 21:41Speaker 3: was undamaged, like it never even happened.
- 21:44Speaker 2: What the fuck? Yeah, yep, this is a fucked up
- 21:49Speaker 2: bunk bed.
- 21:51Speaker 3: When he went back inside, he went to reach for
- 21:54Speaker 3: his lunch box that he had set down, but it
- 21:57Speaker 3: was viciously thrown out of it his hands and across
- 22:01Speaker 3: the room. Like I'm sorry, but at that point I
- 22:05Speaker 3: would be like fuck this shit, like I'm out of here.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Yeah, no one fucks with my lunch right.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Like your lunch box just being like thrown and your
- 22:14Speaker 3: garage being on fire. But it actually wasn't. Like I
- 22:17Speaker 3: I don't think I would stay there.
- 22:19Speaker 2: I can't imagine being in that position, really questioning his
- 22:22Speaker 2: own sanity totally, because like I just imagine this thing
- 22:26Speaker 2: and then this other violent act happens. Well, what I
- 22:30Speaker 2: must have thrown it, you know what I mean?
- 22:32Speaker 3: Because you would be making up things oh down in
- 22:34Speaker 3: your head for sure.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 3: And it's also way easier said to leave a house
- 22:39Speaker 3: like that has probably the majority of your equity, Like,
- 22:42Speaker 3: it's easier said than done. You can't just like you
- 22:45Speaker 3: own this house, you can't just leave, yeah, because where's
- 22:48Speaker 3: what are you? You can't buy something else kind of
- 22:50Speaker 3: thing most likely, right m hm. So after the garage
- 22:54Speaker 3: on fire, incident the family. They did remain in the house,
- 22:58Speaker 3: but Alan started sleeping and his daughter room to provide
- 23:02Speaker 3: protection and help them fall asleep, since at this point
- 23:05Speaker 3: the whole family was kind of traumatized. One night, though,
- 23:09Speaker 3: as Alan was laying in his daughter's room, he started
- 23:13Speaker 3: to notice a fog appearing on the floor and around him,
- 23:18Speaker 3: kind of surrounding him. He then heard a voice out
- 23:21Speaker 3: of the fog that said, you're dead.
- 23:25Speaker 2: What the fuck? Yeah?
- 23:28Speaker 3: Yeah, So he kind of raced into the room. He
- 23:31Speaker 3: was just freaked right out. He wasn't explaining to Deborah
- 23:35Speaker 3: what the fuck had just happened, so she then called
- 23:38Speaker 3: the pasture because of you know, he was like pretty
- 23:41Speaker 3: much like in tears and very shaken up. But that
- 23:45Speaker 3: was that they stayed there. A few days later, Alan
- 23:50Speaker 3: was working late and asked a relative to come to
- 23:53Speaker 3: the house and take his role of keeping the two
- 23:56Speaker 3: girls company as they fell asleep. This relative, I think
- 24:00Speaker 3: it might have been like his brother, but I'm not certain,
- 24:03Speaker 3: but he was kind of going to sleep in the
- 24:05Speaker 3: girl's bedroom and you know, make sure they fell asleep,
- 24:07Speaker 3: And he was a skeptic, like he didn't he thought
- 24:10Speaker 3: all this was just like bogus. This wasn't happening, and
- 24:14Speaker 3: it would be very hard to believe. Like I feel
- 24:17Speaker 3: like if my like, I believe my sister and stuff
- 24:19Speaker 3: when she's speaking to me, but if she was telling
- 24:22Speaker 3: me this, I would have trouble taking it totally seriously, lay.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Off the wine, like come on, yeah, I totally gotcha. Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Well, that night he was no longer a skeptic because
- 24:37Speaker 3: the same horrible figure that was often seen by the
- 24:41Speaker 3: children appeared and he let out a loud scream. Deborah
- 24:47Speaker 3: then told the relative grabbed the girls were leaving this
- 24:51Speaker 3: house and we're never coming back. That yeah, because I
- 24:56Speaker 3: kind of think it was more Alan. I was like, no,
- 24:59Speaker 3: like you, no, we got to stay like this is
- 25:01Speaker 3: our home kind of thing.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Well, and it's kind of different like when you're in
- 25:06Speaker 2: your own little family, your own little tight knit community group, whatever,
- 25:10Speaker 2: you think someone in five six people in the same
- 25:13Speaker 2: office experiencing something, you think, well, we're just seeing something,
- 25:16Speaker 2: we're just not seeing an outside perspective, and then when
- 25:19Speaker 2: someone else from that outside perspective sees it too, it
- 25:23Speaker 2: almost offers that token of reality that holy shit, this
- 25:26Speaker 2: isn't just us going nuts, it's actually happening.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Well, and then the father to Alan, he was probably
- 25:33Speaker 3: you know, I'm sure he was taking on like the
- 25:35Speaker 3: protector role, right, So it's like I can deal with this, like, well,
- 25:38Speaker 3: we're going to make this work, Like we'll figure it out.
- 25:42Speaker 3: So news of the bizarre happenings quickly spread through Horcon,
- 25:46Speaker 3: turning their once quiet neighborhood into a chaotic hub of
- 25:50Speaker 3: curiosity and fear. The police and investigators search for any
- 25:54Speaker 3: signs of a hoax, hidden recorders or projectors, but their
- 25:59Speaker 3: efforts you to yielded no explanations. Despite being initially skeptical,
- 26:05Speaker 3: Horrorcon police chief became convinced that the Talmans had truly
- 26:09Speaker 3: experienced the terrifying phenomenon they described. The Talmans were beset
- 26:16Speaker 3: by unwanted attention as a result of earlier ghosts hysteria,
- 26:20Speaker 3: which they did not seek. They had actually turned down
- 26:24Speaker 3: a lucrative tabloid offer about their experience, as they did
- 26:29Speaker 3: not think it was right to make any money of
- 26:32Speaker 3: their children's kind of misfortune. Exactly, so, the Talmans agreed
- 26:37Speaker 3: to share their story with Unsolved Mysteries under three conditions.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Their faces were censored during the interview. Their children's names
- 26:48Speaker 3: were to be predicted by alias, and that all re
- 26:52Speaker 3: enactments of their experience be done by actors playing the
- 26:57Speaker 3: family and not them themselves. So this episode it actually
- 27:03Speaker 3: aired on Unsolved Mysteries on October twenty six, nineteen eighty eight. Damn, yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 3: like so long ago. I actually watched it. I just
- 27:12Speaker 3: freaking love that show, to be honest.
- 27:14Speaker 2: So I'm curious. How do they know it was connected
- 27:16Speaker 2: to the bunk beds specifically.
- 27:19Speaker 3: We'll let me just kind of.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Coincides with the coming in. Oh, you've got yeah, there's.
- 27:22Speaker 3: A little bit more here, and then we'll discuss everything.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Okay, gotcha.
- 27:27Speaker 3: So the Talman family or deal continued for nine long
- 27:30Speaker 3: months before they finally fled their home during a bitterly
- 27:34Speaker 3: cold Wisconsin winter. Two weeks later, the Talmans had the
- 27:38Speaker 3: bunk beds destroyed, so they took it to this place
- 27:42Speaker 3: that got destroyed and it was buried. They've had no
- 27:45Speaker 3: further paranormal experiences, and a new family has actually now
- 27:50Speaker 3: moved into their old home and has also had no
- 27:54Speaker 3: haunting experiences, and prior to the bunk bed being brought
- 27:58Speaker 3: into the home, they had had no prior experience.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I see gotcha? Okay, okay.
- 28:04Speaker 3: So, with the haunting chapter of their lives behind them,
- 28:07Speaker 3: the Tallman family sought to move forward, leaving their haunted
- 28:10Speaker 3: past far behind. The mystery of the Taman House in Horgan,
- 28:15Speaker 3: Wisconsin remains unsolved. Despite various investigations and extensive media coverage.
- 28:23Speaker 3: The exact nature of the force that tormented this family
- 28:28Speaker 3: remains a mystery. Whether you're a skeptic or a believer,
- 28:32Speaker 3: the story of the Tallman family serves as a chilling
- 28:35Speaker 3: reminder that the unknown can encroach upon the most ordinary lives,
- 28:40Speaker 3: leaving a lasting mark on those who experience it.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Damn. Yeah, I'm almost certain that there had to have
- 28:48Speaker 2: been a fire or something involved with this bunk bed previously.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Well, I honestly do see I'm a little bit of
- 28:54Speaker 3: a skeptic, so I'm not gonna lie. And I do
- 28:57Speaker 3: find it very odd that like a piece of furniture
- 29:00Speaker 3: or can bring so much into your house.
- 29:03Speaker 2: You know, Well, what makes a piece of furniture any
- 29:05Speaker 2: different than say a doll, Say Robert the doll. What's
- 29:09Speaker 2: the difference? Yeah, they're both inadamate objects. I guess one's
- 29:14Speaker 2: just built to look human in some sort of way
- 29:17Speaker 2: with a face and arms. Yeah, that's it.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it could literally just be too that
- 29:23Speaker 3: it was like a coincidence, right, that this kind of
- 29:28Speaker 3: got brought into the house. There's actually something I need
- 29:32Speaker 3: to look up here that I forgot to mention, but
- 29:34Speaker 3: that this got brought into the house just at the
- 29:36Speaker 3: same time that a spirit or evil presence did.
- 29:39Speaker 2: It's possible, but I mean that doesn't explain it leaving
- 29:44Speaker 2: at the same time too, especially with being so aggressive
- 29:46Speaker 2: like that. You know, Yeah, that doesn't make sense because
- 29:49Speaker 2: if it was that aggressive and just a random item
- 29:54Speaker 2: is brought left like there's no reason for it to
- 29:56Speaker 2: leave too, you'd think it would continue with its aggression
- 29:58Speaker 2: and it would continue haunt to continue being like you're
- 30:01Speaker 2: fucking dead.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. And the fact that it just kind
- 30:04Speaker 3: of ended, okay, but there was Yeah, there's one line
- 30:07Speaker 3: here I actually forgot to put in. So the Tallment
- 30:11Speaker 3: House activity was described in greater extent in the book
- 30:14Speaker 3: Haunted America by Michael Norman and Best Scott, but at
- 30:18Speaker 3: no time in their research they link the hauntings to
- 30:21Speaker 3: a bunk bed. The activity is instead linked to the
- 30:24Speaker 3: property as being located on or near a former Native
- 30:29Speaker 3: American burial grounds. That's a quote from this article.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Okay, so they're that article is saying it's not the
- 30:36Speaker 2: bunk bed.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but then for the family that moved in after
- 30:40Speaker 3: to have like no issues.
- 30:44Speaker 2: So let's assume for a second that that our article
- 30:47Speaker 2: is true. Okay, that bunk bed served as some sort
- 30:52Speaker 2: of means, as maybe a portal or way of communication
- 30:57Speaker 2: to open up. So what is so special about that
- 30:59Speaker 2: bunk beet still, because while that bunk bed was there,
- 31:03Speaker 2: the hauntings occurred, and while it was gone it stopped.
- 31:07Speaker 2: So sure might not be directly related to the bunk bed,
- 31:11Speaker 2: but that bunk bed correlates and might be a piece
- 31:14Speaker 2: of the puzzle still.
- 31:15Speaker 3: But it was also more because I don't necessarily know
- 31:18Speaker 3: what the illnesses like. I think that could just be like, oh,
- 31:21Speaker 3: there's a lot going on, and the kids kept spreading
- 31:23Speaker 3: it back and forth to each other. But it was
- 31:25Speaker 3: when the bunk bed was moved upstairs and when it
- 31:27Speaker 3: was had been slept in when it was being used.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not too convinced with something like you say,
- 31:33Speaker 2: kids getting sick. However, when you see a mysterious fire
- 31:37Speaker 2: in a witch with fiery eyes and fog rolls in
- 31:39Speaker 2: saying I'm gonna kill you. Yeah, that sounds paranormal to me.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Kids getting sick just sounds like kids getting sick.
- 31:45Speaker 3: But it's very odd that the bunk bed was downstairs
- 31:50Speaker 3: for months and there wasn't really any issues until it
- 31:54Speaker 3: was brought upstairs and slept in. Like, that's weird to me.
- 31:57Speaker 3: That seems a bit weird.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Kind of going back on what I said, is like
- 32:00Speaker 2: the bunk bed serving as almost like a means of
- 32:02Speaker 2: like a portal opening up. Think of it as I
- 32:05Speaker 2: don't know if anyone out there remembers, we might be
- 32:07Speaker 2: aging ourselves here. But rabbit ears and a television an
- 32:10Speaker 2: antenna right, that antenna is not in the right position.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Guess what, you don't get reception on your TV you
- 32:17Speaker 2: bend the antenna into the right spot. Oh shit, you
- 32:20Speaker 2: now get your TV show. Stuff can come through. Yeah,
- 32:24Speaker 2: this specific bunk bed material history, who knows what in
- 32:28Speaker 2: the right position may have caused the conditions for this
- 32:33Speaker 2: to come through.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's just a bizarre story. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:38Speaker 3: so bizarre and honestly to imagine, like just how on
- 32:43Speaker 3: edge this family is going to be for basically the
- 32:46Speaker 3: rest of their lives.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I can.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Really, like, I don't know how you could just go
- 32:50Speaker 3: I mean, you could go on living a normal life totally,
- 32:53Speaker 3: but in the back of your mind, you you'd kind
- 32:55Speaker 3: of be, oh, my gosh, because this evil spirit going
- 32:57Speaker 3: to find us again.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're certainly not going to go to any
- 33:00Speaker 2: airbnbs with bunk beds.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Oh, you would never never, ever, ever buy another bunk
- 33:05Speaker 3: bed in your whole entire life.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Nope.
- 33:07Speaker 3: And that would probably just continue on down the line,
- 33:10Speaker 3: like with your kids and then their kids. There were
- 33:12Speaker 3: just never any bunk beds purchased by that family.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Hundreds of years later, you just have this giant clan
- 33:17Speaker 2: of like half the world that's just like bunk beds
- 33:20Speaker 2: are evil.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Wow, good job. That was an interesting story. I've never
- 33:25Speaker 2: heard of a haunted bunk bed.
- 33:27Speaker 3: No, No, it was bizarre.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah you can say that. Huh.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it was interesting research though.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Where did you find this case?
- 33:36Speaker 3: I think I had just googled like kind of Halloween
- 33:41Speaker 3: spooky themed episodes. This one isn't I mean, it's spooky,
- 33:44Speaker 3: I guess, and then it are rare ones or something,
- 33:47Speaker 3: and it came.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Up okay, huh so, yeah, yeah, well, good job. That
- 33:51Speaker 2: was definitely an episode to open up Halloween Week with,
- 33:56Speaker 2: for sure, because what.
- 33:57Speaker 3: You consider, what do you think twice now before you
- 34:00Speaker 3: ever had to buy a bunk bed.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I mean, I personally just don't like bunk beds to
- 34:04Speaker 2: start with. But I don't think it would deter me
- 34:08Speaker 2: in any way, shape or form other than I've been
- 34:10Speaker 2: deterred already.
- 34:12Speaker 3: When we were in Tafino in March. Yes, remember our
- 34:16Speaker 3: airbnb had a bunk bed and the dogs were obsessed.
- 34:19Speaker 3: They slept on there.
- 34:20Speaker 2: No, it didn't know that, No, the dogs didn't.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, never mind, no dogs on the bunk beds.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Yeah no, yeah, the dogs they slept on the bottom
- 34:29Speaker 2: of the bunk bed. They curled up together and they
- 34:31Speaker 2: loved it. It was so cute. It was to be fair,
- 34:34Speaker 2: we laid down towels and yeah, we brought.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Their blanket and laid it down there.
- 34:38Speaker 2: So yeah, it was all good. Wow. Halloween Week Episode
- 34:43Speaker 2: one is that the wraps? Yeah, good job, round of applause,
- 34:47Speaker 2: Good job Nicole and Margarita is almost finished. But while
- 34:50Speaker 2: I'm sitting here sipping on it just a little bit,
- 34:52Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you about all the stuff in
- 34:54Speaker 2: the description down below. We have Instagram, we have Facebook,
- 34:57Speaker 2: we have Patreon, we have YouTube. All the good stuff
- 35:00Speaker 2: down there. If you want to go follow us. Maybe
