Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host. That's a chopet.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to another edition of Hawk Talk, another victorious day
- 0:14Speaker 1: here at the Center. Seahawks take down the Cardinals twenty
- 0:18Speaker 1: three to twenty on Thursday Night football.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Bump and let me tell you something.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Man, wins, our wins, our wins in the National Football
- 0:26Speaker 1: League doesn't matter how you get it.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Never apologize for winning.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Now, you know what. Coach McDonald was a bit more
- 0:32Speaker 3: excited than I thought he was gonna be, and he
- 0:34Speaker 3: reminded me that wins are wins because I'm thinking, oh man,
- 0:37Speaker 3: he's gonna be disappointed about this, and then the third
- 0:40Speaker 3: of course, they're gonna fix some things. But he reminded
- 0:43Speaker 3: me his energy reminded me like yeah, three and one,
- 0:46Speaker 3: like let's go, let's get.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It one thousand percent. I didn't win a lot of
- 0:48Speaker 1: games in college. And let me tell you something. You
- 0:50Speaker 1: don't apologize for winning. I don't care how it happens.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And Seews get a hard fought victory on the road
- 0:55Speaker 1: on Thursday night football is jump right into it.
- 0:57Speaker 2: What had happened. See what had happened was what had
- 1:02Speaker 2: happened at first was what.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Had happened was on Hawked talk the Seahawks domination in Arizona.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Should we file some ownership claim or something is or
- 1:13Speaker 1: something we can do there?
- 1:14Speaker 3: It's something, man, they got a We need some stock
- 1:16Speaker 3: in the building, We need partnership with the team. This
- 1:20Speaker 3: is what we do.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I mean something.
- 1:21Speaker 1: The Seahawks have won eight straight games against the Cardinals,
- 1:24Speaker 1: nine of their last ten. The Hawks are now eleven
- 1:26Speaker 1: to one and one at State Farm Stadiums is twenty thirteen.
- 1:28Speaker 1: That's unreal. I don't care who you are in the
- 1:30Speaker 1: National Football League. To dominate someone that many times consecutively
- 1:34Speaker 1: is pretty wild. Pretty wild. Seahawks dominated in the box
- 1:38Speaker 1: score pretty much all of the game. You know, the
- 1:40Speaker 1: Cardinal Zoe were able to hang around to keep this
- 1:42Speaker 1: one close. Wasn't always pretty at times. Like I said,
- 1:44Speaker 1: the Hawks got it done. Game kicked off. Seahawks forced
- 1:47Speaker 1: a punt on the opening drive and then move the
- 1:49Speaker 1: football on the first offensive possession. Unfortunately, drives alled out
- 1:52Speaker 1: six plays thirty eight yards later, Seahawks were stopped on
- 1:54Speaker 1: fourth and one at the Arizona forty eight bump and
- 1:57Speaker 1: then two plays later it kind of weird play happened.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Yeah, Kobe Bryant intercepted Calamarray while he was running back.
- 2:01Speaker 3: He's getting money, he's looking and Tyreus Knight ran into
- 2:05Speaker 3: him on accident. It wasn't on purpose. The ball came
- 2:07Speaker 3: out and it was recovered by the Cardinals, but we
- 2:10Speaker 3: thought it was down. This's possibily that knee could have
- 2:12Speaker 3: been down. They reviewed it and it wasn't enough to
- 2:14Speaker 3: overturn it. Maybe they didn't have the angle. Could have
- 2:17Speaker 3: went either way on that play.
- 2:18Speaker 1: It was the call in the field. I think it
- 2:20Speaker 1: was the calls the other way. It's just unfortunate man
- 2:22Speaker 1: friendly fire because Kobe's looking around. Yeah, last year coach
- 2:26Speaker 1: for Donald wanted him to not slide after he got
- 2:28Speaker 1: that pick in Atlanta.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So he's getting money.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Obviously, the touchdown against Arizona the second time up here
- 2:34Speaker 1: when he imitated Marshall Lynch and all that, so he
- 2:37Speaker 1: has the capability, but just unfortunate play.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Yeah, unfortunate play. But you know what, the offense had
- 2:41Speaker 3: their back because of the Cardinals. I think they kicked
- 2:43Speaker 3: a field goal when they got possession the footballs and
- 2:46Speaker 3: the Hawks would respond. They go seven plays seventy seven
- 2:48Speaker 3: yards and a sixteen yard touchdown to a j Barner
- 2:52Speaker 3: might have one of my favorite celebrations. I like that
- 2:54Speaker 3: he's consistent with the little twist and the spike. I'm
- 2:57Speaker 3: feeling you, AJ, We're gonna break down that play that
- 3:00Speaker 3: made the score seven three.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah, great drive and from then on the next two
- 3:04Speaker 1: drives and punts. But Ernest Jones comes down with the
- 3:06Speaker 1: second interception of the year, passed the bounce off Marvin
- 3:10Speaker 1: Harris's hands. He had a tough day. Redeemed himself a
- 3:12Speaker 1: little bit later, but yeah, the Seahawks did a great
- 3:15Speaker 1: job there. Unfortunately they couldn't capitalize offensively, no points on
- 3:18Speaker 1: that drive, but after a three and out by Kyler Murray,
- 3:21Speaker 1: the Hawks were put together a great drive going seven
- 3:23Speaker 1: plays ninety yards anywhere, a one yard touchdown by Zach
- 3:26Speaker 1: Sharbonay that made the score fourteen to three Seattle. That
- 3:30Speaker 1: drive was huge, right, You had the big play to
- 3:32Speaker 1: thirty two yard reception Elijah Roy would love to see
- 3:35Speaker 1: him getting active, twenty four yard run by Sam Darnold.
- 3:38Speaker 1: He had a fifteen yard run by Zach Sharbonay and
- 3:40Speaker 1: effort effort, effort effort. Coach McDonald talks about shocking effort
- 3:45Speaker 1: in his program, and that's what happened on the play.
- 3:47Speaker 1: We're gonna hear from him because he was pretty fired
- 3:49Speaker 1: up about Charles Cross's effort on that Zach Charbonay touchdown.
- 3:53Speaker 4: That was a great run by Sharps. Again, every yard matter,
- 3:56Speaker 4: so you're trying to try and maximize gift to give
- 4:00Speaker 4: Jami the best opportunity possibly can, and I felt like
- 4:02Speaker 4: it was that was the opportunity to go into it.
- 4:05Speaker 1: You talk, you like to talk about effort plays, the
- 4:07Speaker 1: Charvin touchdown run where across.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I told yeah, I screwed it up. I should
- 4:11Speaker 4: have gave Charles a game ball. That's one of my
- 4:13Speaker 4: favorite plays I've ever seen it. Just im just so
- 4:16Speaker 4: proud of him. Man, this guy, he's gone through a
- 4:19Speaker 4: lot this year, was you know, with some personal things
- 4:22Speaker 4: going on. And he's such a great person. I mean,
- 4:23Speaker 4: he's such a great person, he's a great leader, he's
- 4:25Speaker 4: a great football player. And uh, he played. I mean,
- 4:28Speaker 4: we could be in a walkthrough and this guy is
- 4:30Speaker 4: just one thousand percent attention to detail. Takes the liner
- 4:34Speaker 4: I mean, just all those things you asked for. So
- 4:36Speaker 4: he set such a great example for our team doing
- 4:38Speaker 4: those things right there, like that was just it's probably
- 4:40Speaker 4: my favorite play of the year, is uh So he'll
- 4:44Speaker 4: he'll be rewarded this week.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I promise high braise from the coach. Bump.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you feel that, you feel, you feel the passion
- 4:49Speaker 3: that coach asked for.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Charles and any coach is gonna put on the type
- 4:52Speaker 1: of film that you can already know that that's going
- 4:54Speaker 1: up first play in the team meeting room. This is
- 4:56Speaker 1: what we're talking about. You want to talk about shocking effort.
- 4:58Speaker 1: If you didn't know what the definition was in dictionary,
- 5:00Speaker 1: that's what it is. And the crazy thing about that bump.
- 5:03Speaker 1: You can break down the play as well. Charles Cross
- 5:05Speaker 1: gets his blocking on the defensive end, and the difference
- 5:08Speaker 1: is Charles finishes the play right. Arizona's defensive end gets
- 5:12Speaker 1: a nice passage to first kind of starts running towards
- 5:15Speaker 1: the football and goes, oh, they're gonna make that tackle,
- 5:17Speaker 1: kind of lets off the gas sharburn and keeps his
- 5:19Speaker 1: legs driving. Charles Cross comes over their shocking effort and
- 5:22Speaker 1: a lesson to anyone playing football at all levels pee wee,
- 5:24Speaker 1: middle school, high school, college, NFL.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Doesn't matter.
- 5:27Speaker 1: When you run to the football on either side of
- 5:29Speaker 1: the ball, good things happen.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Play through the whistle, not to the whistle. Through the whistle,
- 5:34Speaker 3: you just keep playing. So yeah, big o Charles Cross,
- 5:35Speaker 3: he was flying, run everywhere. The first drive of the
- 5:38Speaker 3: second half, the Seahawks win ten plays forty yards about
- 5:40Speaker 3: to settle for a field goal that make the score
- 5:42Speaker 3: seventeen to three. The next two drives within in punts
- 5:46Speaker 3: before the Cardinals would add another field goal, making the
- 5:48Speaker 3: score seventeen the six. Then the Hawks will respond with
- 5:51Speaker 3: a great drive fourteen plays fifty three yards have to
- 5:55Speaker 3: settle for a field goal, making the score twenty to six.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Bump on that drive though than that, that was really frustrating.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Jack Sharbonne gets in the end zone again and this
- 6:03Speaker 1: might have been the nail on the coffin for that game,
- 6:05Speaker 1: the best predominating.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Unfortunately, there was a holding penalty on Jackson Smith in jig.
- 6:11Speaker 3: But he literally got ran over like he blocked the dude,
- 6:14Speaker 3: but lost but one because you occupy the dude and
- 6:17Speaker 3: because he fell backwards and old boy fell forward on
- 6:20Speaker 3: the referee through a flat.
- 6:21Speaker 1: He did what he's supposed to do. He got in
- 6:22Speaker 1: his way in let's just move on because I don't
- 6:25Speaker 1: get in trouble. Okay, let's get it all right.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Things started to go downhill from there as the Cardinals
- 6:32Speaker 3: made it a one score game after a seventy three
- 6:34Speaker 3: yards drive and rediption for Barman Harrison. He did bounce
- 6:37Speaker 3: back sixen yard touchdown, went up and grabbed it, sposed
- 6:39Speaker 3: in great position. Yeah, plays the ball. I mean, if
- 6:43Speaker 3: there's ever a way to lose a battle, that's how
- 6:45Speaker 3: he lose the battle, right right. It was perfect man.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty thirteen the score, and you're thinking, okay, Seahawks
- 6:50Speaker 1: have an opportunity to close this thing out, and it
- 6:51Speaker 1: looks like they're going to Jackson Smith and Jag. But
- 6:54Speaker 1: we just talked about him. He has a deep exposive
- 6:56Speaker 1: to play every single game. This wasn't quite forty yards
- 6:59Speaker 1: like he's been doing. Thirty six yard bomb from Sam Darnold.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You're thinking, Okay, they're in Arizona territory, they're gonna lock
- 7:04Speaker 1: this thing down. Unfortunately, that drive would stall out and
- 7:07Speaker 1: mister reliable Jason Myers unfortunately just pushed it a little
- 7:10Speaker 1: bit like his golf swing. He is a great golfer.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like he talks about golf all the time,
- 7:15Speaker 1: and we all have shots like that where he just pushed.
- 7:17Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Most of us have lots of shots like that.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I don't even call myself a golfer
- 7:22Speaker 1: because every shots like that. But anyway, he missed a
- 7:24Speaker 1: fifty few yard field goal that gave it Cardinals an
- 7:26Speaker 1: opportunity to get back in the game.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Yeah, the Cardinal will make things interesting, all right. When
- 7:30Speaker 3: they tied the game after Calamari found Emarre de Micardo
- 7:34Speaker 3: for a seven yard touchdown, capping a twelve play fifty
- 7:36Speaker 3: seven yard drive. The scor is now tied with twenty
- 7:38Speaker 3: eight seconds left in the game, and I'm thinking, look,
- 7:41Speaker 3: they're probably gonna go overtime. We'll see what goes down.
- 7:43Speaker 3: But you know what, there's a good old thing called
- 7:45Speaker 3: the landing zone landings, and the kicker, Chad Ryland, was
- 7:49Speaker 3: unable to hit the ball in the landing zone two
- 7:51Speaker 3: yards short. You got to hit it past the twenty.
- 7:53Speaker 3: So that gave the Hawks great field position. Changed the
- 7:56Speaker 3: way we thought this game was gonna finish.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I didn't think we talk so much about the landing
- 8:01Speaker 1: zone this year in the NFL. But let me tell
- 8:03Speaker 1: you something. The landing zone has been good.
- 8:05Speaker 3: It's a new dynamic. I'm for it. I'm for the
- 8:07Speaker 3: landing zone. And my buddy was on IG last night.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I hate this new rule. I go, no, may kickers
- 8:13Speaker 3: do more? All right? Hit the day landing zone. They
- 8:16Speaker 3: don't do enough anyway. That's why they're so great at
- 8:18Speaker 3: golf because all they do is kick and go play golf.
- 8:20Speaker 3: So yeah, give them something to do.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Maybe other teams will need us to light up the
- 8:24Speaker 1: landing zone like they're doing TV, so everyone's just aware
- 8:26Speaker 1: of what's going on when the ball gets.
- 8:27Speaker 3: There, right, goodness gracious.
- 8:30Speaker 2: But here's the thing.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Okay, so that's such a huge play twenty eight seconds
- 8:35Speaker 1: left because I'm thinking overtime, honest, honest to god, I'm
- 8:38Speaker 1: not even really I'm like, Okay, they at one time
- 8:40Speaker 1: out really gonna go adr or whatever they have to do.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm thinking I'm kind of conceding overtime at that point.
- 8:46Speaker 2: But you get the ball of the forty. That's just
- 8:47Speaker 2: a game changer. Bump.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Yeah, they would take advantage of the of the situation.
- 8:52Speaker 3: One play later, Sam Darnall will find js in for
- 8:54Speaker 3: twenty two yard reception. All he does is make big plays,
- 8:58Speaker 3: will break that down. They got the Seahawks and field
- 9:00Speaker 3: gold reigns and Jason Myers, the little sniff and salt.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I think that's what it's called smelled. It got on
- 9:06Speaker 3: the football field, kicked the fifty two yarder to win
- 9:09Speaker 3: the game. Way to bounce back, as coach calls them, JMI, I.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Mean, love what you see in there. I mean, it's
- 9:14Speaker 1: just resilien. It's like you're you're unfazed. Especially we joke
- 9:18Speaker 1: about kickers all the time. But to be in that
- 9:20Speaker 1: situation when that's all you do, and for you to miss,
- 9:22Speaker 1: to come back and just not be, you know, mentally
- 9:25Speaker 1: strong enough to come through and win, especially on that field.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I know a lot of people have had struggles on
- 9:32Speaker 1: that field, the turf and all that stuff. For him
- 9:34Speaker 1: to come through and kick the game winning field goal huge.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It's like the eighteenth hole. You're in a scramble and
- 9:39Speaker 3: they have to use your drive. You know, my nightmare,
- 9:42Speaker 3: a nightmare if you gotta hit the dang fair away.
- 9:45Speaker 3: That's what Myers did.
- 9:47Speaker 1: No absolutely love it and seahawkski the victory. Seahawks out
- 9:50Speaker 1: game the Cardinals three eighty four to two fifty three.
- 9:52Speaker 1: They outrushed the Cardinals one fifty five to eighty nine,
- 9:54Speaker 1: also highest rushing total for the Seahawks on the season.
- 9:57Speaker 1: They won time possession thirty two to twenty four to
- 9:59Speaker 1: twenty seven. Six Seahawks sach Caler Murray six times, intercepted
- 10:03Speaker 1: him twice, and the Seahawks were control the whole way.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I don't even when the Cardinals side of the game,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I never was really nervously watching the game because it
- 10:12Speaker 1: was like, man, we've dominated this football game the entire
- 10:15Speaker 1: way and it showed up there. And listen, division games
- 10:17Speaker 1: are tough to never apologize for wins. As I opened
- 10:20Speaker 1: the show with the Hawks are three and one, went
- 10:22Speaker 1: over division rival.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Things are good in.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Seattle, Bump, but there's people making plays all over the field.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Playmakers touch.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Playmakers told him what time it is?
- 10:38Speaker 3: Ho Wait, all right, let's talk about the quarterback. Sam Darnold. Efficient.
- 10:45Speaker 3: He is just effishing, He's calm, he's cool under pressure,
- 10:48Speaker 3: nothing phases. I'm at this point eighteen of twenty six,
- 10:50Speaker 3: two hundred and forty two yards, one touchdown, a QB
- 10:53Speaker 3: rating of one hundred eleven point four.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Nice way to fix that. There's a little type of the.
- 10:59Speaker 3: You know what to have to work through it sometimes
- 11:01Speaker 3: got one care for twenty four yards, a big carry,
- 11:04Speaker 3: fake that toss bow got money. He looked like he
- 11:06Speaker 3: ran a solid four six right there. Easy, he solid
- 11:09Speaker 3: for sick. He was moving and back to back games
- 11:12Speaker 3: without a turnover that is ten straight quarters. It seems
- 11:16Speaker 3: like it seems like it's working out so far with
- 11:18Speaker 3: Sam Darnold without question.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I mentioned it on the postgame show just in my experience,
- 11:24Speaker 1: like behind the curtain a little bit, Sam is the
- 11:26Speaker 1: most down the earth dude that you will find out there.
- 11:28Speaker 1: He will he says, what's up to everybody in this building,
- 11:31Speaker 1: doesn't matter what your job is. He just seems like
- 11:33Speaker 1: he's one of the guys right And I love what
- 11:36Speaker 1: we're seeing from and the amount of good balls he
- 11:38Speaker 1: had that he threw yesterday, I mean unbelievable.
- 11:41Speaker 2: He zipping it in there.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He's just playing at a high level, and I'm excited
- 11:46Speaker 1: because this is just the potential for Sam is crazy.
- 11:49Speaker 3: One of my favorite throws was the incompletion back pedaling
- 11:52Speaker 3: tossing into royal I guess I'll call it passing affear
- 11:54Speaker 3: it's down in completion, yeah, and just the the courage
- 11:58Speaker 3: he has to make those throws too, like the confidence
- 12:01Speaker 3: he has to make those throws. He's playing some good football.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Never waivers, So I love what we're seeing from Sam Darnold.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Then his top number one receiver Jackson Smith and Jig
- 12:09Speaker 1: before reception seventy nine yards. Jason didn't have any targets
- 12:12Speaker 1: in the first half. He had a little screenplay which
- 12:14Speaker 1: is technically run in the first half, and we're used
- 12:16Speaker 1: to him putting up big numbers. He's been around one
- 12:17Speaker 1: hundred yards every single game this season, and four straight
- 12:21Speaker 1: game with an explosive play over thirty six.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Yards because we're just destined for that now with.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Him, Jason passed Daryl Jackson for third place in franchise
- 12:28Speaker 1: history the most reception in the players first three seasons.
- 12:30Speaker 1: He's now up to one to eighty nine, two clutch
- 12:33Speaker 1: catches down the stretch, did everything he can.
- 12:36Speaker 2: The dude just makes plays.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And what I love about Jason is when, like we said,
- 12:39Speaker 1: games on the line, if you're a dB, you know
- 12:41Speaker 1: where they wanted the're throwing the ball, I'm looking where
- 12:43Speaker 1: eleven is yep, and he's still getting open. Its still
- 12:45Speaker 1: making plays even when they know that's where the Seahawks
- 12:47Speaker 1: are going in football.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Heads up play, catching the football and getting out of
- 12:50Speaker 3: bounds too. They tried not to give it to him.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Thank God for replay. Little things like that. Man, lets
- 12:55Speaker 3: you know that he's locked in at all times. K
- 12:58Speaker 3: nine nineteen carries eighty one year, has some explosive runs,
- 13:01Speaker 3: and he ran some guys over to man, he's starting
- 13:03Speaker 3: to look like the guy we saw a couple of
- 13:05Speaker 3: years ago. There are a couple of instances where you
- 13:08Speaker 3: want him to get downhill, but you don't blame him
- 13:10Speaker 3: for going for the big play because he's liable to
- 13:12Speaker 3: break up a fifty sixty yard in any minute now, no.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Question about it.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And it was unfortunate that he got a flag at
- 13:20Speaker 1: the end of one of those plays.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I didn't let that.
- 13:22Speaker 1: That was some cheap stuff right there, him getting his
- 13:23Speaker 1: leg pull at the end of the play. Anyway, I'm
- 13:25Speaker 1: just staying enough for my K nine and then another guy.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'm super excited. Come on, Chenna, Chenna again. We want
- 13:32Speaker 1: to talk about good dudes. In this locker room since
- 13:33Speaker 1: the day Chenna walked into this building in twenty twenty two,
- 13:36Speaker 1: he's been in absolute stud He had a great year,
- 13:38Speaker 1: was our best defender in twenty twenty two, helped us
- 13:40Speaker 1: get to the playoffs. Since then, he's been injury. He's
- 13:43Speaker 1: dealt with injuries just time after time after time. He's
- 13:45Speaker 1: had to rehab do everything that he's been through.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So I love it.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Five tackles, two sacks, two TFLs, two QB hits, first
- 13:52Speaker 1: saxons last season. I'm just again, I'm could be more
- 13:55Speaker 1: happy for a dude. And you feel from this locker room.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Who'd you hear from Leonard Williams, anyone on defense, Ernest Jones,
- 14:01Speaker 1: coach McDonald. Everyone feels it because they know the work
- 14:03Speaker 1: he's putting in. Oh and now you ad Chenna being
- 14:06Speaker 1: dangerous on that front. Seven this front is unreal. You
- 14:10Speaker 1: can feel the love for Chenna.
- 14:11Speaker 3: There's I think the Seahawks posted the camera as they're
- 14:14Speaker 3: walking through the tunnel after the game and everyone highlights
- 14:17Speaker 3: Chenna like this, dude, I got too, So just the
- 14:19Speaker 3: vibes man. And also we talked about you don't apologize
- 14:23Speaker 3: for wins, so coach reminded me of that, and then
- 14:26Speaker 3: the player's excitement after the game reminded me of that,
- 14:28Speaker 3: because it's easy for us to watch it and oh, well,
- 14:31Speaker 3: they didn't do this, they didn't do that. This is
- 14:32Speaker 3: the NFL. You gotta win games, and guys like a
- 14:35Speaker 3: Chenna are gonna help. Leo Williams, big cat, still doing it.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Four tackles, one and a half sack, one TfL, one
- 14:41Speaker 3: pass defended, one QB hit. Still probably the best defender
- 14:45Speaker 3: on this football team.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I mean it, Do yourself a favor if you ever
- 14:50Speaker 1: go back and if you have NFL Plus, you're doing replays,
- 14:53Speaker 1: if you taped it at home, just spend some time
- 14:56Speaker 1: watching ninety nine.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Yeah, just one series. Just keep your eyes on just you.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Don't watch anything but ninety nine, and then you'll see
- 15:02Speaker 1: what these offensive linemen were having to deal with.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I can't tell you if I'm a center guard. Tackle
- 15:07Speaker 2: doesn't matter.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I'm going back to my position, coach, and I'm sure
- 15:10Speaker 1: a lot of these meetings, these Monday meetings after film
- 15:13Speaker 1: are like, hey, man, he's a good player.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Keep your head up like that was tough play. Hey,
- 15:18Speaker 2: you're doing what you're supposed to do you're out there competing.
- 15:21Speaker 3: That's keep you head up, keep ahead up.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Ernest Jones man leader of this team for sure. Eight tackles,
- 15:27Speaker 1: half a sack, pass defended, one interception.
- 15:30Speaker 2: He just produces every time he's on the field. I
- 15:32Speaker 2: see thirteen. I'm feeling good.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Ernest doing grown man things. And this guy actually started
- 15:37Speaker 3: the game. Drake Thomas Man five tackles, one sack, one TfL,
- 15:41Speaker 3: one pass defending, one quarterback hit. I'm a backup playing
- 15:44Speaker 3: like a starter, getting some starter reps too. There's a
- 15:46Speaker 3: rotation going on with him and Tyree's night that I
- 15:49Speaker 3: think is beneficial for this team. Right now. Drake Thomas
- 15:52Speaker 3: has taking advantage of his opportunities, no question about.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I love Drake Thomas at North Carolina. Stay playing some
- 15:56Speaker 1: good football, and bump. I got one other stat for
- 15:59Speaker 1: you before we get into white receiver round up. In
- 16:00Speaker 1: plays of the game, according to the next Gen Stats,
- 16:03Speaker 1: the Hawks finished with fourteen different defenders recording at least
- 16:06Speaker 1: one pressure on Kyler Murray. Hey only defender wore finished
- 16:09Speaker 1: with more than two. One two was a Chenn in
- 16:11Speaker 1: thea WOSU. So that's everybody. Everyone's taking a turn. Everyone
- 16:14Speaker 1: is getting involved in this thing. Murray's average time to
- 16:17Speaker 1: throw was two point three seven seconds. That was his
- 16:20Speaker 1: fourth fastest of his career. So guys were getting after its.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Go love what we saw from there. Bumb will get
- 16:25Speaker 1: over the receiver, roundup, a lot of people get in action.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yeah, you just said defensively, fourteen guys getting pressure. You
- 16:32Speaker 3: got a bunch of pass catches on the offensive side too.
- 16:34Speaker 3: You got JSN four for seventy nine, averaging nineteen point
- 16:37Speaker 3: eight one of the most explosive receivers in the game
- 16:40Speaker 3: right now. Elijah Royal two for forty four, a big
- 16:43Speaker 3: reception for thirty two yards. AJ Barner three for thirty two,
- 16:46Speaker 3: had a touchdown himself, ken of walk out of reception
- 16:49Speaker 3: for twenty nine, Cooper Cup four for twenty six. He
- 16:51Speaker 3: did have one or two big catches. I know the
- 16:54Speaker 3: numbers aren't gonna value, but there are a couple of
- 16:55Speaker 3: clutch catches that Cooper Cup had, Bubble had won for seventeen,
- 16:58Speaker 3: Horton had won for ten, Sharbone had two for five,
- 17:02Speaker 3: altogether two hundred and forty two yards.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Love spreading the wealth.
- 17:06Speaker 1: But here's our fastly becoming our favorite segment. Plays of
- 17:10Speaker 1: the game and bump this guy. We said it a
- 17:12Speaker 1: lot on the radio talking about how A. J. Barner
- 17:16Speaker 1: is becoming an elite tight end in this league. He's
- 17:20Speaker 1: a leader of that tight end room, and it showed
- 17:22Speaker 1: with his sixteen yard touchdown.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Charbone in the backfield. Donald, Look, he's just gonna throw
- 17:27Speaker 3: form the corner of the endzone.
- 17:27Speaker 5: He's kind of man touchdown, Seyhawks.
- 17:31Speaker 2: It's ay J. Barner. The tight end just literally.
- 17:36Speaker 5: Ran away from a Keen Davis Gay through the linebacker
- 17:40Speaker 5: to the far side of the end zone and as
- 17:42Speaker 5: Sam Darnold has done so often this season already and
- 17:46Speaker 5: absolutely perfect throw sixteen yards.
- 17:49Speaker 3: The Seahawks are on the board. I love this play man.
- 17:52Speaker 3: You got Sam Donald under center. He's gonna motion Zach
- 17:55Speaker 3: Scharboney out, giving him an empty backfilm. You got two
- 17:57Speaker 3: tight ends attached the line of scrimmage. You got Aj
- 18:00Speaker 3: Barnett to the left, he got sober to the right,
- 18:02Speaker 3: got JSN to the right of soberd and then Cooper
- 18:04Speaker 3: Cup on the left side. We're gonna focus on the
- 18:07Speaker 3: top of the screen. This is clearly man coverage. How
- 18:09Speaker 3: can you tell when Zach Charvade motions out you see
- 18:12Speaker 3: that the linebacker passes his responsibilities to a safety. Safety says, yes,
- 18:15Speaker 3: I got the running back. This id's man off top.
- 18:18Speaker 3: So what's gonna happen up top? You're looking at Cooper Cup?
- 18:21Speaker 3: He takes it inside release. He's gonna run a post,
- 18:23Speaker 3: all right. What he does is he takes his defender
- 18:25Speaker 3: with him and holds that single high safety, which leaves
- 18:28Speaker 3: the whole left side of the field for Aj Barner.
- 18:31Speaker 3: How Aj makes this work is the little has he
- 18:33Speaker 3: that he does. He gets on the defender's toes a
- 18:35Speaker 3: little hes, he freezes him, creates some space, not much
- 18:39Speaker 3: of a rub, but a little bit of a rub
- 18:40Speaker 3: by Cooper Cup. And now he just gets wide for
- 18:42Speaker 3: the fame. So much space two to three yards of
- 18:45Speaker 3: opportunity over there. And Sam Donald tosses a football nice
- 18:48Speaker 3: and high hands catch you go ahead and get it.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Now we focus on the offensive line. This is something
- 18:52Speaker 3: that happens here that I like. A right you have
- 18:54Speaker 3: sober who's gonna stand in block for a second. If
- 18:57Speaker 3: you look at ab Lucas, he's going to help Anthony
- 18:59Speaker 3: browd Ef with that three tech. He knows that Soberd
- 19:02Speaker 3: is leaving, so Sobert does a good job slowing that
- 19:04Speaker 3: rushing down and then A pops off just in case
- 19:07Speaker 3: he's ready to go. If A doesn't slide off to
- 19:10Speaker 3: that right side, to that edge, he's gonna get right
- 19:11Speaker 3: after the quarterback, possibly get some pressure on him, but
- 19:14Speaker 3: he forces him inside. So again, just doing what you're
- 19:17Speaker 3: supposed to do makes his playwork.
- 19:19Speaker 2: With that question, and you.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Said it right off top, AJ Barner as a defender,
- 19:23Speaker 1: you're a man, but just enough to loan him to sleep. Yep,
- 19:27Speaker 1: you get the defender to pause, to get flat footed
- 19:30Speaker 1: a little bit because he's okay and just enough. And
- 19:32Speaker 1: AJ Barner, like I said he is. In college, he
- 19:36Speaker 1: wasn't known for being this amazing. He wasn't like the
- 19:39Speaker 1: kid out of Penn State or any tight ends drafted now.
- 19:42Speaker 1: But big ups to the Seahawks personnel department, John Schneider
- 19:45Speaker 1: and company knowing Teasley, all of them for knowing what
- 19:48Speaker 1: they had in AJ Barner. And again he's just a
- 19:51Speaker 1: man among boys, hitting that Selly doing what he does.
- 19:56Speaker 1: AJ Barner crushing the game. And then Jackson Smith and
- 19:59Speaker 1: Jake But honest, I'm not trying to just highlight them
- 20:01Speaker 1: all the time. But I like this team that we're going.
- 20:03Speaker 1: You had a great catch that we could have broke down,
- 20:05Speaker 1: also getting a guy in a double move on the
- 20:06Speaker 1: thirty six yarder. But I wanted to focus on this
- 20:08Speaker 1: because this play set up the game winning field goal
- 20:10Speaker 1: by Jason Myers.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Here's JSN for twenty two yard reception.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Donald from the shotgun takes a snap. Here comes the rush.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Donald throws back shoulder.
- 20:18Speaker 5: It's JSM makes the catch inside the Arizona forty perfect
- 20:22Speaker 5: pass by Donald.
- 20:25Speaker 3: All right, right here, you got who's up at the
- 20:27Speaker 3: top there. You got Cooper Cup and I believe that's
- 20:30Speaker 3: Horton at the top of the screen. You have a
- 20:31Speaker 3: Sam Donald and shotgun. You have JSN at the bottom
- 20:35Speaker 3: of your screen. And then I believe that it's aj
- 20:36Speaker 3: Barner at the top with a Cooper Cup and Horton
- 20:38Speaker 3: attached to the line of scrimmage. Carnals have to being
- 20:41Speaker 3: pressure right here right as late in the game. You're
- 20:43Speaker 3: trying to cause the toneover, so they're showing pressure with
- 20:45Speaker 3: their Mike linebacker. He drops. You actually get pressure from
- 20:48Speaker 3: the safety. So you got they're bringing six. You got
- 20:50Speaker 3: Zach Starbagay, who's taking care of the left side. Does
- 20:52Speaker 3: not see the pressure coming. So Sam darnols, I gotta
- 20:55Speaker 3: get this football off early. Again, it's man defense. Typically
- 20:58Speaker 3: when they blitz, they will be in may. You can
- 21:00Speaker 3: go zone, but most of the time you go man.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Another good release by Jason outside release. The dB is
- 21:06Speaker 3: in great position. The dB is on top, he's in phase,
- 21:09Speaker 3: he's on the hip. Sam Donald sees that, so as
- 21:11Speaker 3: you do back shoulder that thing, you back shoulder it
- 21:14Speaker 3: and give him something he can catch. But here's the
- 21:16Speaker 3: most impressive part. JSN gets out of bounds. He realizes
- 21:20Speaker 3: the situation and he gets out of bounds and make
- 21:22Speaker 3: sure his team can fight another day. Look at this
- 21:25Speaker 3: offensive line really impressed with Anthony Brafford right here on
- 21:29Speaker 3: this play. You got Kalais Campbell, who was lined up
- 21:32Speaker 3: in that what is it one three and a half
- 21:34Speaker 3: three take to the left of Sam Durnham. He stunts
- 21:37Speaker 3: all the way. He starts on the right of the line,
- 21:39Speaker 3: stunts all the way to the left side. You got
- 21:42Speaker 3: Anthony Braffor who pass him. Excuse me, that's Abe Lucas.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Excuse me, Abe Lucas all right, passes Josh sweat off
- 21:47Speaker 3: and then boom class Campbell just appears and he picks
- 21:51Speaker 3: him up again, showing the offensive line being able to communicate.
- 21:54Speaker 3: But it's more importantly Sam Donald back shoulder JSN getting
- 21:57Speaker 3: out of bounds.
- 21:59Speaker 2: That's exactly what you did. You draw it up.
- 22:00Speaker 1: It's you got to remember, right the part of the
- 22:03Speaker 1: game landing zone happens. He usk at the ball the
- 22:05Speaker 1: forty they need to get into field goal range. The
- 22:08Speaker 1: Cardinals know that they're going to throw the ball here,
- 22:10Speaker 1: and I just love here's the thing. If you're a
- 22:12Speaker 1: if you're a defender in this league, a back shoulder
- 22:15Speaker 1: throw with time.
- 22:16Speaker 2: To Jason is impossible.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Impossible. I don't care who you are in this league.
- 22:20Speaker 1: There's nobody, if it's a good ball, is stopping that play.
- 22:23Speaker 1: And you talked about it. Jason the presence of mind.
- 22:26Speaker 1: He gets out of bounce, unsure, he knows he gets
- 22:29Speaker 1: out of bounce because he's control of his own body, realizes, oh,
- 22:32Speaker 1: I don't think they gat to me. Boom immediately gets
- 22:34Speaker 1: up sprints to the middle of the field to spot
- 22:36Speaker 1: the ball just.
- 22:37Speaker 2: In case he can't get it again.
- 22:38Speaker 1: You want to talk about shocking effort, It shows up
- 22:40Speaker 1: and plays like this, and when all eleven I heard
- 22:43Speaker 1: this from the old soccer coaching Universus Peter sound Rady Hansom.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Shout him out right now. He said, ninety nine is hard,
- 22:49Speaker 1: one hundred is easy. What it means by that is effort.
- 22:51Speaker 1: When every single person is bought into something, it's easy
- 22:54Speaker 1: because everyone is moving at the same speed. When a
- 22:57Speaker 1: couple people aren't, that's when it's really hards. You don't
- 22:59Speaker 1: know when that's gonna pop up. Everyone on this football
- 23:02Speaker 1: team is bought in, ready to go. I'm so pumped
- 23:04Speaker 1: about this thing. And I'm also pumped um up because
- 23:07Speaker 1: it's the weekend. We'll get a couple of days off here.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I'm saying, get to watch.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. It doesn't have a very often stuff fans,
- 23:12Speaker 2: So we're hyped up. You know, Washington. We'll see what happens.
- 23:15Speaker 2: See if the Rams and the Niners can lose whatever
- 23:18Speaker 2: it is.
- 23:18Speaker 1: But anyway, we'll tell you guys, the Seahawks, it's our
- 23:21Speaker 1: favorite formation, Yes, sir, happens.
- 23:23Speaker 2: It's happened three weeks in a row. Victory formation.
- 23:27Speaker 6: Here comes the Seahawk offense on to the field and
- 23:29Speaker 6: the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that one meal
- 23:35Speaker 6: down and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down
- 23:38Speaker 6: and win this one.
- 23:39Speaker 2: It's the victory formation.
- 23:40Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk. Seahawks take care business on the road
- 23:43Speaker 1: with a hard fought divisional game three and one, and
- 23:46Speaker 1: like we said, the dominance of these Arizona Cardinals continues.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Hawks eighth straight in Arizona, nine of the last ten,
- 23:52Speaker 1: eleven one and one down there at Arizona State Farm
- 23:55Speaker 1: Stadium since twenty thirteen. Seahawkson claims some ownership and Mike McDonald,
- 23:59Speaker 1: are you kidding me?
- 24:00Speaker 2: First ten road games?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Coach McDonald now has a nine to one road record.
- 24:04Speaker 1: He has signed for the second most in NFL history,
- 24:07Speaker 1: only behind forty nine Ers coach George Seaffert, who won
- 24:10Speaker 1: all his first ten games. And what we're seeing on
- 24:12Speaker 1: the road, bump, you just don't see this, You just don't.
- 24:15Speaker 3: It's like you know when you travel with your family
- 24:18Speaker 3: and you get your destination and everything's on point. You
- 24:22Speaker 3: got enough underwear for the kids, snacks are on point
- 24:25Speaker 3: on the way there the room, you know what you
- 24:27Speaker 3: checked in early. You got the digital key on your phone.
- 24:30Speaker 3: You just pop right here. That is coach McDonald on
- 24:33Speaker 3: the road. Look, I got everything I'm all packed up.
- 24:35Speaker 3: We're good. We are good. We get these guys ready
- 24:37Speaker 3: to go. That's dope, man, And they said, a franchise
- 24:40Speaker 3: record now with eight straight road wins. Sam Donald was
- 24:44Speaker 3: efficient as well, tons of big throws, standing in the pocket,
- 24:47Speaker 3: getting big, and the Seahawks ran for a season high
- 24:50Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty five a big twenty four yard
- 24:52Speaker 3: run by Sam Donald, and Jason contributed with eleven yard
- 24:55Speaker 3: run two.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Absolutely, these guys are I'm telling you, when this running
- 24:59Speaker 1: game it's already need to get there. When it really
- 25:01Speaker 1: gets going, watch out the NFL. You're gonna be on notice.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Jayson you talked about him. He had no reception in
- 25:06Speaker 1: the first half, had four receptions seventy seventy nine yards
- 25:09Speaker 1: in the second half, but two huge plays. And defensively,
- 25:13Speaker 1: the Seahawks got after Cal Murray, sacking him six times.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Yeah, the defense. Big ups to the defense man six
- 25:18Speaker 3: times getting Kyler Murray. That's that's hard to do. And Myers,
- 25:21Speaker 3: he shook off the miss field goal, he came back
- 25:23Speaker 3: and hit a game winner, stone cold killer out there.
- 25:28Speaker 3: It wasn't pretty, but the Hawks got the job done.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Wins or wins or wins it was really good right here.
- 25:33Speaker 1: The Seahawks are three to one, in great shape. They
- 25:35Speaker 1: got a tough Tampa Bay Bucks team that's coming into
- 25:37Speaker 1: Luomitfield on ten to five. That's also the Seahawks celebrating
- 25:41Speaker 1: the fiftieth season, So that's gonna be a lot of
- 25:43Speaker 1: things going down. The Seahawks winning throwbacks, they were in
- 25:45Speaker 1: the Creamskuls, It's gonna be great.
- 25:47Speaker 2: But for now, Seawk fans rest easy, enjoy the weekend.
- 25:50Speaker 1: There's a lot of good college football games going on,
- 25:52Speaker 1: a lot of things going on in this city. It's
- 25:54Speaker 1: great to be sports fan right now. So big us
- 25:56Speaker 1: everything going down. He's Michael Bumpas on Nasachobe. This has
- 25:59Speaker 1: been Hawk Talk. Will be with you guys next week
- 26:01Speaker 1: breaking down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Seahawks three and one
- 26:04Speaker 1: sitting pretty
