- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome back to another episode Star Wars Alliance,
- 0:24Speaker 2: your home and the geek ultimateized podcast Network for ay
- 0:27Speaker 2: and oh thanks Star Wars. I'm your host as always, Katie.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I've got a nice glass of bourbon tonight because it's
- 0:33Speaker 2: just been that kind of week.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I should have poured myself a glass of fla. I
- 0:39Speaker 1: have it. It's right there. I should have just done
- 0:42Speaker 1: it because I feel you. I'm right there with you.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I have two pinch nerves in my back.
- 0:52Speaker 1: But I don't feel that well right now.
- 0:56Speaker 2: So yeah, but hey, it's my birthday Sunday, so you know, yay,
- 1:05Speaker 2: I ever tell you Happy birthday? Play?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Uh, I'm sure you didn't.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Okay, happy birthday, dude.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I mean it's six months too late, but you know.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh my gosh. Why did I think your
- 1:22Speaker 2: birthday was last week?
- 1:24Speaker 1: That was uh, well, last month was Abby's and Amber
- 1:29Speaker 1: lens so okay, that's probably it. Y yeah, sorry, So
- 1:35Speaker 1: uh yeah, clearly you can tell that we have had
- 1:40Speaker 1: a day and a half already. So yeah, as you
- 1:46Speaker 1: can see on the title of this episode, this is
- 1:51Speaker 1: going to be our Tiers of the Nameless review of course,
- 1:56Speaker 1: with these reviews, whoever is joining us, who is new
- 2:01Speaker 1: to Star Wars Alliance, we are changing things up for
- 2:04Speaker 1: our reviews. We are making it as spoiler free as
- 2:07Speaker 1: we possibly can. Now, by the time we are releasing this,
- 2:12Speaker 1: the book has already been out. This is different than
- 2:15Speaker 1: our normal reviews that we usually get arcs for ARC's,
- 2:20Speaker 1: but we are still going to try and keep it
- 2:23Speaker 1: as spoiler free as we possibly can. There are moments
- 2:26Speaker 1: that we are probably going to want to talk about.
- 2:29Speaker 1: We will warn you about those spoilers.
- 2:32Speaker 2: We will try to save them for the end because
- 2:34Speaker 2: I know there's one in particular, specifically chapter twenty five
- 2:38Speaker 2: that we need to talk about.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, but before we jump into.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Sorry, just as a heads up for everybody, I could
- 2:48Speaker 2: not find my kindle anywhere, so I have my hard
- 2:51Speaker 2: copy of the book, which I have not opened yet.
- 2:55Speaker 2: So my notes are goodness knows where.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I surprisingly have zero notes in this book, but I
- 3:08Speaker 1: am trying to remember specifically where things are. There was
- 3:12Speaker 1: a name drop in this book that we have heard
- 3:18Speaker 1: recently in other media of Star Wars that I'm going
- 3:26Speaker 1: to bring up as well. But there are specific things
- 3:29Speaker 1: that I want to talk about in this book. But
- 3:31Speaker 1: before we do that, of course, we always try to
- 3:36Speaker 1: do the news roundup. We try to look at what
- 3:38Speaker 1: has been talked about recently in the Star Wars universe
- 3:43Speaker 1: of all things, and as far as I can tell,
- 3:51Speaker 1: one of the very first things I see on our
- 3:54Speaker 1: list of things to talk about is, according to the
- 4:01Speaker 1: Hollywood reporters, film is considering making multiple seasons of Skeleton
- 4:07Speaker 1: Crew unless the show receives poor viewership. I like how
- 4:14Speaker 1: they have to now you can't assume because like and
- 4:21Speaker 1: it pisses me off also, but uh, but yeah, considering
- 4:27Speaker 1: making multiple seasons of Skeleton Crew, and I think that
- 4:30Speaker 1: this like, of course, we have to take everything with
- 4:34Speaker 1: a grain of salt when it comes to Star Wars nowadays.
- 4:36Speaker 1: But I personally think with the idea of the first
- 4:43Speaker 1: pitch of this show, it is Stranger Things within the
- 4:47Speaker 1: Star Wars universe, I think that within itself can lobby
- 4:53Speaker 1: more seasons than your average pitch. Because of the strength
- 5:00Speaker 1: of what Stranger Things is at Netflix. You're bringing that
- 5:04Speaker 1: into the Star Wars universe. I think you can possibly
- 5:08Speaker 1: make more seasons of that. Of course, we have already
- 5:12Speaker 1: seen poor reception from the bigoted obnoxious, stupid people who
- 5:20Speaker 1: think they are fans of Star Wars, and you have
- 5:24Speaker 1: to remind yourself these people think they are fans of
- 5:26Speaker 1: Star Wars, but they don't know what Star Wars is,
- 5:29Speaker 1: So take that as you will.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Somebody, for example, y'all, somebody found a video of a
- 5:37Speaker 2: certain YouTuber who shall.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Not be because I saw this.
- 5:46Speaker 2: This YouTuber had a positive live reaction to the Rise
- 5:50Speaker 2: of Skywalker, but now has turned on it with epic proportions.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought that was ho hilarious.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I about died. I did not watch the video because
- 6:03Speaker 2: again I didn't know if it led to his channel
- 6:05Speaker 2: or what. I didn't want to give inviews.
- 6:07Speaker 1: No, I literally just saw the video on Twitter like
- 6:13Speaker 1: it was just like a clip of the video, and
- 6:16Speaker 1: so okay, I was like, yeah, I can, I can
- 6:18Speaker 1: definitely watch this. But yeah, it goes to show what
- 6:26Speaker 1: people will do for clicks and to be in the
- 6:30Speaker 1: spotlight and change their entire personality for the sake of
- 6:36Speaker 1: those things, which is really really stupid in my opinion.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And we're not saying you can't change your opinion, but
- 6:42Speaker 2: the way this got changed not the same, not the
- 6:46Speaker 2: same at all.
- 6:47Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, exactly Skeleton.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Crew news has come out of, specifically a Hollywood Reporter
- 6:53Speaker 2: article entitled is Disney Batted Star Wars and Analysis, And
- 7:03Speaker 2: in it it talks about Skeleton Crew being already green
- 7:09Speaker 2: lit for multiple seasons unless it gets bad viewership. It
- 7:12Speaker 2: also talks about which was not officially announced, but it
- 7:18Speaker 2: talks about and how Wood Reporter is one of those
- 7:21Speaker 2: sites where it's like, Okay, we can believe you for
- 7:23Speaker 2: the most part. Yeah. So it says the Mandalorian came
- 7:31Speaker 2: from the Bandalorian came twenty twenty one spin off the
- 7:33Speaker 2: Book of Bubbafet, which is where some problems with Franchise TV.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Franchise's TV efforts first emerge. So much about this brief
- 7:41Speaker 2: effort was weirdly clunky. Two Mandalorian episodes were inexplicably sandwiched
- 7:46Speaker 2: in the show's seven and they felt like a band
- 7:48Speaker 2: aid attempt to repair a struggling show. The Book of
- 7:52Speaker 2: Bubblefet was originally a series, not a mini series, but
- 7:56Speaker 2: it was quickly considered concluded. It also says the fourth
- 8:02Speaker 2: season of Mandalorian was pivoted into the mid Laurian and Grogu,
- 8:08Speaker 2: with no chance for the show to come back, which
- 8:12Speaker 2: we had kind of talked about last week.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yeah, and well now we are getting word that it
- 8:18Speaker 1: was due to the poor reception of season three. Yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 1: which I think is really silly. Now, granted, we have
- 8:30Speaker 1: seen shows nosedive and never come back. The CW's flash
- 8:37Speaker 1: for one, it has become a meme. But guess what.
- 8:41Speaker 1: The ten year anniversary of season one just came up
- 8:44Speaker 1: and people were praising the show like it was the
- 8:48Speaker 1: best thing that CW has ever crafted. But just a
- 8:53Speaker 1: year and a half ago we were all making fun
- 8:55Speaker 1: of it, like, you know, it's like the Inner is
- 9:01Speaker 1: not real life. And I think that studios need to
- 9:06Speaker 1: understand that there is a it. And I will admit
- 9:12Speaker 1: the Internet is a conundrum because they can turn a
- 9:16Speaker 1: meme into a wild sensation that drives movies to billion dollars,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and they can do the complete opposite. I understand that
- 9:31Speaker 1: I totally do, but to base decisions like this, are
- 9:38Speaker 1: you now going to turn every TV show into a
- 9:41Speaker 1: movie when the like the first sign of a season
- 9:46Speaker 1: going downhill, like oh, you know, zombies and cheerleaders on
- 9:54Speaker 1: Disney Plus is now getting a theatrical release after season
- 9:57Speaker 1: seventeen was horrible, Like it doesn't make any goddamn sense. Sorry,
- 10:02Speaker 1: it just doesn't. So I think this is silly along
- 10:08Speaker 1: with obviously I don't know if it was in this
- 10:13Speaker 1: particular article, but because we're talking about Disney plus shows,
- 10:23Speaker 1: we've also heard from I believe even McGregor himself stating
- 10:32Speaker 1: that they are currently exploring ideas for Obi Wan season two.
- 10:40Speaker 1: This is where I am so confused, because wasn't there
- 10:48Speaker 1: correct me if I'm wrong the last two episodes. There
- 10:53Speaker 1: was a lot of controversy over those two episodes where.
- 10:56Speaker 2: They or not, Yes, yes, there was.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I I what, I do not understand the deciding hand
- 11:07Speaker 1: over at Disney and Lucasfilm. I do not.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I don't either, especially as it becomes more and more
- 11:15Speaker 2: clear that you and McGregor kind of stood on his
- 11:18Speaker 2: own when it comes to defending Moses Ingram. Yeah, and
- 11:25Speaker 2: like he basically forced the hand of the Star Wars
- 11:31Speaker 2: has got cut of team, and it was like, Okay,
- 11:32Speaker 2: I'm not promoting the show. Basically it's probably what he
- 11:34Speaker 2: said unless you defend her and you post this video
- 11:40Speaker 2: because there's been nothing for the act like and even
- 11:42Speaker 2: even oh my gosh, what Jody Turner yes, Jody Turner Smith,
- 11:49Speaker 2: who played.
- 11:53Speaker 1: The leader of the which mother I forgot her. Yes, yes,
- 12:02Speaker 1: she's like.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Called them out on it, and really, honestly, good for her.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Like that takes a lot of guts because basically everybody's
- 12:10Speaker 2: called them out on it secretly. But Jodie Turnsmith did
- 12:15Speaker 2: the right thing. She said, they've got to stop. Oh
- 12:20Speaker 2: my gosh, Twitter, come on, they've got to stop doing
- 12:23Speaker 2: this thing where they don't say anything when people are
- 12:25Speaker 2: getting fucking dogpiled on the internet with racism and bullshit.
- 12:30Speaker 2: It's just not fair to not say anything. It's really unfair.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It would just be nice if the people that have
- 12:36Speaker 2: all the money, whether that be Disney or any studio,
- 12:39Speaker 2: we're showing their support and putting their feet down, say
- 12:42Speaker 2: this is unacceptable. You're not a fan. If you do this,
- 12:45Speaker 2: make a really big deal. We're gonna get there. And
- 12:49Speaker 2: then she went on to say we're gonna get there
- 12:50Speaker 2: at some point, to that place where people stop having
- 12:53Speaker 2: a stick up their ass about people of color being
- 12:55Speaker 2: a part of ips that were created by white people,
- 12:58Speaker 2: because you know why, we're never I want to stop
- 13:01Speaker 2: fucking participating. And that last part of paraphrase because I
- 13:04Speaker 2: can't read, but basically.
- 13:06Speaker 1: And and the thing is, like, it is absolutely wild
- 13:15Speaker 1: that in twenty twenty two we are still having this conversation.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 13:22Speaker 1: A people, I'm I'm I'm not sorry for saying this,
- 13:28Speaker 1: but people of color have existed for all of eternity,
- 13:32Speaker 1: Like they didn't just appear two years ago. They didn't
- 13:36Speaker 1: just appear out of nowhere like we've It's it's so
- 13:44Speaker 1: dumb because it only happens selectively. Also, which really pisses
- 13:50Speaker 1: me off, because you have people like the conundrum of
- 13:56Speaker 1: Will Smith. I'll go ahead and say this. Will Smith
- 14:00Speaker 1: has been Hollywood's like poster boy sometimes and he's been
- 14:06Speaker 1: the meme of the Internet on the entire side of
- 14:09Speaker 1: the other side of the spectrum. People don't understand this
- 14:13Speaker 1: or people don't realize this. At one point, Will Smith
- 14:18Speaker 1: was so big in Hollywood. W B approached him to
- 14:22Speaker 1: be Superman. Did you know this?
- 14:27Speaker 2: I didn't know that. I was nodding along like I
- 14:28Speaker 2: knew that.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I didn't know.
- 14:29Speaker 1: That Will Smith was approached to play Superman. And he
- 14:34Speaker 1: even said, you gotta be crazy to think that a
- 14:38Speaker 1: black man can play a white man's superhero. And lived
- 14:41Speaker 1: to tell the tale. He knew the writing on the wall,
- 14:44Speaker 1: which is why they ended up making his other superhero movie, Hancock, Yes,
- 14:53Speaker 1: which is they shifted it and they're like, Okay, well
- 14:55Speaker 1: then we'll make another superhero just for you.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's quite honestly ridiculous, but like what gets
- 15:03Speaker 2: me and I know we're jumping around, y'all. I'm sorry,
- 15:05Speaker 2: but like this is just so the Secrets of the
- 15:09Speaker 2: Clone Troopers came out. All right, y'all, we're gonna hit
- 15:12Speaker 2: our first ad break and we will be right back
- 15:14Speaker 2: in three two one, which is an in universe book
- 15:19Speaker 2: written by uh Captain Rex about clones, and it has
- 15:25Speaker 2: and we're gonna talk about the other part of this later,
- 15:27Speaker 2: but it has in universe art of Sister, a trans
- 15:33Speaker 2: Clone Trooper that was introduced in Queen's Hope. And so
- 15:38Speaker 2: many people have jumped on that artwork today and been
- 15:40Speaker 2: like why does this exist in Star Wars? Like I
- 15:42Speaker 2: can't believe you want to think like go looke basically
- 15:47Speaker 2: like all that stupid talk, and like it's just ridiculous
- 15:53Speaker 2: to think that, oh, yeah, Disney is doing this stuff
- 15:55Speaker 2: because they can't even like for books, like that's not
- 16:01Speaker 2: something that they're ever going to think about y'all, because
- 16:03Speaker 2: I mean, they can't even defend their people of color
- 16:07Speaker 2: and their LGBTQ members in live action TV shows, which
- 16:11Speaker 2: are like their top priority. No, right, like Disney didn't
- 16:20Speaker 2: have oversight into this. Otherwise Disney would have said no
- 16:24Speaker 2: to ever including her in Queen's Hope. So shut the
- 16:27Speaker 2: fuck up.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yeah, now, I do understand some people's criticism in a
- 16:34Speaker 1: more positive light. Star Wars Queers Watch posted and shared
- 16:40Speaker 1: uh this post and says, actually, don't like how it
- 16:44Speaker 1: makes it sound like Sister is unique. There should be
- 16:48Speaker 1: absolutely loads of trans clones. When looking in the retrospect
- 16:54Speaker 1: of how many clones there were in retrospect you could
- 16:59Speaker 1: pop probably you think like, yeah, there's probably more than
- 17:03Speaker 1: just one.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Uh So they do bring up a good point in that,
- 17:09Speaker 1: and I would like to see that possibly like shown
- 17:14Speaker 1: in some sort of way that would make it meaningful
- 17:17Speaker 1: rather than just being like, oh, here's a quote, I
- 17:19Speaker 1: thing like a lot of people. Yeah there is.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Well, like to say the like not that there shouldn't
- 17:28Speaker 2: be multiple like transplones in the clone army, because you're right,
- 17:31Speaker 2: there's like tens of thousands of clones.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so you've.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Got a buttload. But who's to say Rex knew all
- 17:39Speaker 2: of the clones, like, so kind of putting it from
- 17:42Speaker 2: that perspective, like in all for all intents and purposes,
- 17:45Speaker 2: she could be unique to Rex, but there could be
- 17:48Speaker 2: others out there of that Rex, it's never met, So.
- 17:53Speaker 1: That's true. I didn't even consider that The Secrets of
- 17:56Speaker 1: the Clone Troopers was a story that was specific two Rex, Right,
- 18:02Speaker 1: that's what the whole book is about.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Yeah, because you have the Secrets of the Jedi, which
- 18:07Speaker 2: is written by Luke, and then you have the Secrets
- 18:10Speaker 2: of the Sith, which is written by Palpatine. So it
- 18:12Speaker 2: kind of makes sense that their mirroring that. I think
- 18:14Speaker 2: you even have like Secrets of Wookies. So yeah, they've
- 18:19Speaker 2: all just kind of picked a storyteller to tell those
- 18:23Speaker 2: stories from.
- 18:25Speaker 1: So very nice. Oh alright book. Well, speaking of this book,
- 18:32Speaker 1: since we're already on topic, the first little inkling of
- 18:38Speaker 1: this book that I had seen I shared into our group.
- 18:41Speaker 1: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers, a new in Universe
- 18:44Speaker 1: book about clones written by Captain Rex, confirms that Rex
- 18:49Speaker 1: fought in the Battle of Indoor and provides the strongest
- 18:52Speaker 1: evidence of the biggest fan theory in all Star Wars
- 18:56Speaker 1: history has finally surfaced, and everybody, of course is you
- 19:05Speaker 1: guys probably know what I'm even talking about. This actor
- 19:09Speaker 1: that literally looks like Rex as an older Rex. They've
- 19:15Speaker 1: basically confirmed it here. They have a photo of him
- 19:19Speaker 1: in Secrets of the Clone Clone Troopers, and the one
- 19:23Speaker 1: little detail that I absolutely love about this photo is
- 19:27Speaker 1: the fact that he still has his arm like gom yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 1: like his his little gauntlet with his Clone Trooper oh
- 19:39Speaker 1: yeah yeah. So it's it's it's very simple, like of
- 19:43Speaker 1: course you're thinking, okay, yeah, he looks like the actor
- 19:46Speaker 1: that was played in the uh Return of the Jedi,
- 19:52Speaker 1: but it shows you right there that on his hand
- 19:56Speaker 1: and forearm is his actual Clone Trooper armor and it
- 20:00Speaker 1: actually has like the the tally marks of his kills.
- 20:05Speaker 1: So I thought that was very very cool, very interesting.
- 20:10Speaker 1: And now you can you don't have to say it's
- 20:13Speaker 1: head Cannon because now it's cannon well, and it's still like.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Not like super Cannon. But he's there at yeah Endoors,
- 20:22Speaker 2: So it's not necessarily that he's that person that's in
- 20:25Speaker 2: the picture from Return of the Jedi, but he might
- 20:29Speaker 2: as well be.
- 20:30Speaker 1: He might as well be. They look exactly the same. Now,
- 20:33Speaker 1: there's plenty of people out there that are trying to
- 20:37Speaker 1: like prove that like it's not him, and they're like, oh,
- 20:42Speaker 1: see this dead clone that's actually him. I'm like, why
- 20:45Speaker 1: would he be wearing stormtrooper armor if he's fighting for
- 20:49Speaker 1: the rebels? Like that makes no sense of whatsoever. But yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I think that it's awesome. I think it's cool. But
- 20:59Speaker 1: from I'm there, Oh yes, other book news you shared
- 21:05Speaker 1: this the other day. In July of twenty twenty five.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Next year, Insight Editions will reprint all nine William Shakespeare's
- 21:14Speaker 1: Star Wars books by Ian dosher Dasher. I think, I
- 21:19Speaker 1: think so, yeah, uh, And it was originally published by Quirkbooks.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I always see these at Barnes and Noble, at Target,
- 21:29Speaker 1: They're just like randomly there and they always have like
- 21:31Speaker 1: a discount sticker, and I'm always like, I want to
- 21:33Speaker 1: buy it, but like I can't really like give myself
- 21:37Speaker 1: like the go ahead to make that purchase right then
- 21:41Speaker 1: and there. But if these are reprints with like new
- 21:45Speaker 1: art and stuff, I might consider, like, yeah, give it
- 21:48Speaker 1: a try.
- 21:49Speaker 2: If there's a box set, I might pick these up
- 21:51Speaker 2: just to like kind of have them in like the
- 21:54Speaker 2: full set, but I don't know if I would pick
- 21:56Speaker 2: them up individually. Yeah, that's my qualm. The last bit
- 22:03Speaker 2: of book news that we have is that there is,
- 22:07Speaker 2: in fact an art book for Star Wars Outlaws and
- 22:09Speaker 2: it is coming July eighth, twenty twenty five, from dark
- 22:13Speaker 2: Horse Comics.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yes. Uh, I probably won't pick this up. I haven't
- 22:20Speaker 1: really been picking up the art books for the video games.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I have to be selective in the art books that
- 22:28Speaker 1: I purchased because they are usually somewhat of coffee table books.
- 22:33Speaker 1: I have a two year old it loves loves to
- 22:39Speaker 1: draw on everything, and I just I can't. She will
- 22:45Speaker 1: see paper and her brain will go like, oh I
- 22:47Speaker 1: can draw on that, and I can't. I can't make
- 22:51Speaker 1: that risk. I can't take that risk.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm slowly picking up my coffee table books from
- 22:58Speaker 2: the rest of the house and I'm putting because you know,
- 23:04Speaker 2: like that position where they're like on the hands and
- 23:05Speaker 2: knees and like rocking back and forth, like right before
- 23:08Speaker 2: they start crawling. Yeah, she's doing that.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be like it's your warning of like, hey,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I'm about to be all over this house. Basically.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yeah, And I realized that I made Amazon Prime purchases
- 23:22Speaker 2: for like solid foods day, but I didn't buy any
- 23:24Speaker 2: childproofing things. Probably should do that.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Ah, No, it's fine. Amberlyn has hit her head on
- 23:32Speaker 1: so many different things.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I'm just like, I'm more talking about these bookshelves that
- 23:37Speaker 2: I don't want following on her.
- 23:40Speaker 1: That is true, So I have legitimately seen and this
- 23:45Speaker 1: is actually something that I have seen being purchased while
- 23:49Speaker 1: I was working at a company that was doing office
- 23:54Speaker 1: furniture and stuff. You can buy anchors for your bookshelves
- 23:59Speaker 1: and have them installed.
- 24:01Speaker 2: So that's what I'm gonna do.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I have, That's what you should. I have all my.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Childproofing stuff in a list because I wanted to do it.
- 24:10Speaker 2: While I was thinking about it, I just had it hit.
- 24:12Speaker 1: By on it.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Sorry, random sidebooks. This is how my brain was.
- 24:17Speaker 1: But other than that, there's only really one other thing
- 24:22Speaker 1: as far as the news goes, and it is our
- 24:25Speaker 1: first Inklings of Star Wars celebration going on next year.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Of course, we now have the art for the badges,
- 24:37Speaker 1: which I didn't think was gonna be that big of news,
- 24:41Speaker 1: but holy crap. They popped off when they released this,
- 24:45Speaker 1: and I have to say I really dig this art.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Of course, if you are a fan of things like
- 24:54Speaker 1: William Shakespeare in Star Wars, you know how they've done
- 24:57Speaker 1: like the parody artwork for that to make it look
- 25:00Speaker 1: very Shakespearean. Here with these badges for Japan's Star Wars celebration,
- 25:07Speaker 1: they have really leaned into that traditional Japanese art and
- 25:12Speaker 1: it looks phenomenal. I will say I think my favorite
- 25:17Speaker 1: two are Yoda and Ahsoka. I absolutely love those two
- 25:23Speaker 1: in particular. They look absolutely amazing.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Wait where is Yoda?
- 25:29Speaker 1: Oh? Did you not see the Yoda one? It's not
- 25:32Speaker 1: here on the link for Star Wars dot com. Let
- 25:34Speaker 1: me actually find it for you, because the Yoda one
- 25:37Speaker 1: looks really cool because all I.
- 25:40Speaker 2: See is Vader, Luke, Nando and Grogu and then Ahsoka.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so I will actually Star Wars Holocron actually shared
- 25:52Speaker 1: it and so I'm putting it into the Star Wars
- 25:56Speaker 1: Alliance chat right now.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and present so we can
- 26:00Speaker 2: show the web page. So here is what we have
- 26:08Speaker 2: for Ahsoka. And I don't like how they kind of
- 26:10Speaker 2: did this with like the little zoom ins, because.
- 26:14Speaker 1: That's why if you take it off of yours, I
- 26:18Speaker 1: can actually show you all of them here on the
- 26:22Speaker 1: hall cron in their full art. Let me actually see
- 26:25Speaker 1: here present share screen. There we go. Yes, yes, so
- 26:35Speaker 1: right here we have Darth Vader, we have Luke Skywalker
- 26:46Speaker 1: and Yoda. Yoda is meditating above a rock, which I
- 26:51Speaker 1: think looks really really cool. Then we have the Mandalorian
- 26:55Speaker 1: and Grogu as well as Ahsoka. And like I said,
- 26:59Speaker 1: I think my face to our Ahsoka and Yoda, I
- 27:03Speaker 1: really like the way those.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Look I look being able to look at them full badge.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I really like the Luke Skywalker one actually mainly because
- 27:12Speaker 2: of the tree in the background, the Japanese maple that was,
- 27:17Speaker 2: And I think that just like sentimental reasons. I the
- 27:20Speaker 2: first two houses that I remember growing up at had
- 27:25Speaker 2: Japanese maples, and that was like my favorite tree to
- 27:27Speaker 2: climb on.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Yeah. I really like the the fluidity of the way
- 27:37Speaker 1: these uh are drawn. Of course, that is, like I said,
- 27:41Speaker 1: very traditional Japanese artwork. I'm not entirely sure that I
- 27:47Speaker 1: love the Mandalorian. I feel like they like it might
- 27:51Speaker 1: just be a little too loose for me. Considering he
- 27:53Speaker 1: is a Mandalorian. Uh, but I do. I like the
- 27:58Speaker 1: Luke Skywalker one. The attention to like the the hand
- 28:04Speaker 1: of course being the metal hands, so he does have
- 28:07Speaker 1: uh it all black there, which I think is really
- 28:09Speaker 1: really cool. Uh. But yeah, absolutely love these uh and
- 28:14Speaker 1: I am jealous of anybody who is actually able to go.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Okay, before we dive into the book review, actually Star
- 28:24Speaker 2: Wars Holocron publish their five top things that they learned
- 28:28Speaker 2: from the Secret to the Clone Troopers, oh okay, which
- 28:31Speaker 2: I found interesting. Okay, So the first one is Captain
- 28:35Speaker 2: rex Is in Return of the Jedi. It talks about
- 28:39Speaker 2: how Django Veet was in fact adopted into a Mandalorian
- 28:45Speaker 2: clan at a young age. So and then he earned
- 28:51Speaker 2: his armor. He didn't steal it or anything. And They've
- 28:54Speaker 2: got a screenshot of the whole page. I'm not reading
- 28:57Speaker 2: the quotes or anything, because I want if you buy
- 28:59Speaker 2: the book, I want you to be able to experience that.
- 29:03Speaker 2: But and then it talks about how Doku drereclely hand
- 29:09Speaker 2: picked Django Fete as the source of the genetic material
- 29:14Speaker 2: and oversaw the creation of the army. And then it
- 29:20Speaker 2: also has some information about the Clone X operatives in
- 29:23Speaker 2: the Bad Batch, and there's obviously still a lot to learn,
- 29:28Speaker 2: but it reveals that Clone X operatives called themselves believers
- 29:33Speaker 2: and were willing to take their own lives to protect
- 29:36Speaker 2: the truth about their missions, and they were by the
- 29:43Speaker 2: Clone rebellion. They were called Shadows because they were such
- 29:48Speaker 2: stealthy devils. And then the final thing they talked about,
- 29:56Speaker 2: which isn't precisely new information, but it talks about what
- 30:01Speaker 2: Rex was up to between Bad Batch and rebels, and
- 30:07Speaker 2: it said that he basically started a Clone rebellion and
- 30:12Speaker 2: since the Empire wasn't willing to provide help to the Clones,
- 30:15Speaker 2: then they had to take matters into their own hands.
- 30:19Speaker 2: He was able to keep to the Shadows because the
- 30:22Speaker 2: Empire had thought that he had died, and so he
- 30:25Speaker 2: was able to form a network with soldiers like Echo
- 30:29Speaker 2: and Gregor, but then ended up recruiting new members and
- 30:35Speaker 2: had the regular support of road clones like Clone Force
- 30:38Speaker 2: ninety nine. So just to kind of sum up the
- 30:42Speaker 2: information for like interesting things out of the book, So.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Yeah, very very cool. I know that these were like
- 30:56Speaker 1: when this was first and Auns we kind of talked
- 30:57Speaker 1: about how like Oh, it may not be on our list,
- 31:01Speaker 1: because I know these are kind of geared towards a
- 31:03Speaker 1: younger audience usually. But I'm really liking the info that
- 31:08Speaker 1: is coming out of this book, so I might actually
- 31:10Speaker 1: pick it up and put it as part of my
- 31:12Speaker 1: collection for sure.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I've got all of the other ones,
- 31:17Speaker 2: so I'll put this on my Christmas list. Somebody can
- 31:20Speaker 2: pick it.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Up for me. All right, Well, let's go ahead and
- 31:26Speaker 1: jump into Tiers of the Nameless.
- 31:31Speaker 2: We're going to go into our second ad break and
- 31:35Speaker 2: we'll be right back, guys.
- 31:37Speaker 1: This is a fifty five chapter book, from page one
- 31:44Speaker 1: all the way to page five hundred, five hundred pages
- 31:48Speaker 1: exactly for chapter one to the end of chapter fifty five.
- 31:54Speaker 1: This was a really nice read. Chapters were not too long,
- 31:59Speaker 1: it wasn't a huge info dump on majority of it.
- 32:04Speaker 1: It felt very fluid with this book. Even we have
- 32:09Speaker 1: had conversations in the past when it comes to high
- 32:12Speaker 1: republic stuff about the issue with perspectives and if you know,
- 32:19Speaker 1: it should be something that should be summered down a
- 32:21Speaker 1: little bit and whatnot. I did not have a problem
- 32:24Speaker 1: with the perspectives of this book. I think that each
- 32:28Speaker 1: perspective shared a really interesting take on the story itself. Uh,
- 32:36Speaker 1: but yeah, I think that there was a perspective in
- 32:40Speaker 1: here that was a little bit lacking and kind of
- 32:42Speaker 1: like for me was like, Okay, why have it in
- 32:46Speaker 1: there if it was lacking so much? And we'll get
- 32:49Speaker 1: into that when we start talking specifics. But Katie, overall,
- 32:53Speaker 1: what do you think about the book?
- 32:55Speaker 2: So just to kind of sum up my reaction, this
- 32:59Speaker 2: is probably my second favorite book in the whole of
- 33:03Speaker 2: the High Republic, probably right behind Rising Storm. Oh wow,
- 33:09Speaker 2: I felt the emotions with this one.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 2: George Mann explores Wreath to a degree I didn't know
- 33:20Speaker 2: as possible, and that's saying a lot because that's not
- 33:23Speaker 2: his original character. That's pretty raised character. And like I
- 33:29Speaker 2: and he talks about it in the acknowledgments part at
- 33:32Speaker 2: the end of the book, but he actually found a
- 33:34Speaker 2: brain lesion at the like when he was submitting the
- 33:38Speaker 2: drafts for this book, and so it kind of like
- 33:41Speaker 2: when he was writing this, it kind of evolved as
- 33:43Speaker 2: he faced that battle, like wondering if it was cancerous
- 33:46Speaker 2: or not. And I really like feel that journey with
- 33:49Speaker 2: this because like I feel like there's some moments where
- 33:52Speaker 2: it's like darkness, but then you have like this rising
- 33:55Speaker 2: hope in there and it feels like a personal journey.
- 33:59Speaker 1: And that is what I like most about this book.
- 34:05Speaker 1: We talk about, or I specifically talk about the hunt
- 34:11Speaker 1: for the happy ending for Star Wars, and there's a
- 34:17Speaker 1: lot of times when I read Star Wars that I'm like,
- 34:19Speaker 1: I'm never getting the happy ending. I'm never getting the
- 34:22Speaker 1: happy ending. And even with this book, for a book
- 34:28Speaker 1: that's called Tears of the Nameless, this is probably the
- 34:34Speaker 1: closest thing to an happy ending that I'm gonna get.
- 34:37Speaker 1: In Star Wars, there is a looming threat still. Of
- 34:42Speaker 1: course this is not the ending of the High Republic,
- 34:45Speaker 1: but we can definitely see that this is crawling to
- 34:49Speaker 1: what will be the ending of this story, and we
- 34:55Speaker 1: do get like I would say, like because there's a
- 34:59Speaker 1: lot of ca near the end, but the last four
- 35:04Speaker 1: chapters is like hope, hope, hope. The long stretch home
- 35:10Speaker 1: like this is like we're almost there, We're gonna fix this,
- 35:13Speaker 1: like all of these different types of just like getting
- 35:17Speaker 1: all that emotion and like, oh, we're gonna get there.
- 35:20Speaker 1: We're gonna get there. So I get it. I understand
- 35:23Speaker 1: that journey that you're talking about.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I do want to mention because I always forget
- 35:29Speaker 2: to talk about this as part of our reviews, but
- 35:31Speaker 2: I want to like make sure that I hit this
- 35:34Speaker 2: so we do have some LGBTQ representation in this book.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Amadeo is revealed to be bisexual or pan sexual, more
- 35:42Speaker 2: likely because he talks about how he doesn't really care
- 35:45Speaker 2: who he finds attractive, just as long as they have
- 35:48Speaker 2: like a good personality. And then one of the Doris Dorian.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Dorian is a trans male. Uh he transitioned from a female.
- 36:04Speaker 1: I can't remember if he had said very early, but
- 36:09Speaker 1: it was long enough in his life that he was
- 36:13Speaker 1: actually able to have like intense conversations with his family
- 36:17Speaker 1: about it. And he talks about that with Amadeo in
- 36:21Speaker 1: this very heavy emotional part of the story. And I
- 36:29Speaker 1: really liked how he Dorian saw that Amadale was going
- 36:34Speaker 1: through some stressful things and he's like, Hey, I'm gonna
- 36:38Speaker 1: relate to you, but not take this limelight away from
- 36:41Speaker 1: you in the sense of how you are feeling. We
- 36:43Speaker 1: are going to share in this moment so that we
- 36:46Speaker 1: both feel comfortable with each other, and then we're gonna
- 36:48Speaker 1: move on and we're gonna make this the best experience
- 36:51Speaker 1: that we possibly can.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it felt very natural conversation. Yes, to have it
- 36:58Speaker 2: didn't feel sheet worned in so I appreciated like having
- 37:02Speaker 2: those aspects in there.
- 37:04Speaker 1: So yeah, yes, Uh, I'm trying to remember if there
- 37:10Speaker 1: was anybody else that was within that LGBT plus maybe
- 37:18Speaker 1: come back.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I feel like Comac was like asexual, but that could
- 37:22Speaker 2: just also be Comac's personality.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Obviously we have Leo's Leo.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Established characters, but these two Amadeo has been established before,
- 37:35Speaker 1: but this was really Amadeo's and Wreith's book. Like, yeah,
- 37:40Speaker 1: they were here majority of the time when it came
- 37:43Speaker 1: to the perspectives of the story. So uh, I can
- 37:47Speaker 1: see why George Man wanted to expand a little bit
- 37:49Speaker 1: more about Amadeo than we've been able to see.
- 37:52Speaker 2: From Yeah, and I want to go ahead and dive
- 37:56Speaker 2: into just like some minor critiques and I don't think
- 38:00Speaker 2: there really like anything particular with the book itself, but
- 38:05Speaker 2: like one of them is like they talked about when
- 38:09Speaker 2: the publishing initiative was announced, which I don't think you
- 38:12Speaker 2: were a part of the podcast at that point, but
- 38:15Speaker 2: they talked about when the publishing initiative was announced that
- 38:17Speaker 2: you could read like the young adult books or the
- 38:20Speaker 2: adult books and you would get a complete story. I
- 38:25Speaker 2: think they kind of left that behind, yes, or this
- 38:29Speaker 2: phase there's and like I've tried to like rationalize it
- 38:34Speaker 2: and go, oh, yeah, we could you could totally like
- 38:37Speaker 2: piece these together and get a full story. You can't
- 38:40Speaker 2: do that because like this book directly picks off after
- 38:46Speaker 2: Temptation of the.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Force, like it picks off right after Temptation of the Force,
- 38:52Speaker 1: but midway through it or not midway through, at the ending,
- 38:56Speaker 1: it completely tells you like the latter half of uh
- 39:04Speaker 1: oh show where yeah be? Where the Nameless? Which, like
- 39:09Speaker 1: in my mind, I'm like, okay, Like the whole point
- 39:13Speaker 1: in a lot of these different books in our perspective
- 39:18Speaker 1: is especially for people like Travis. He's shown interest in
- 39:23Speaker 1: reading The High Republic. I don't remember how far behind
- 39:26Speaker 1: he is. I know that he wanted to skip phase
- 39:29Speaker 1: two in order to pick up on phase three, to
- 39:33Speaker 1: pick up where he left off where Phase one was right,
- 39:38Speaker 1: and so for him he was only reading the adult novels.
- 39:42Speaker 1: This technically is not an adult novel. This is considered
- 39:48Speaker 1: a young adult novel. Yeah, so which I will probably
- 39:55Speaker 1: tell him, like, hey, you probably want to read this one.
- 39:58Speaker 1: It has a pretty important thing that you will need.
- 40:01Speaker 2: And he liked Wreath because he did Breath into the
- 40:03Speaker 2: Dark because he likes Claudia Gray.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Yes, so we will recommend this book. But like getting
- 40:10Speaker 1: that ladder half of Beware the Nameless could possibly be like, oh,
- 40:15Speaker 1: that kind of helps me out here. But if it
- 40:18Speaker 1: was somebody just picking up a young adult novel and
- 40:22Speaker 1: Star Wars, you're like, what in the world is going
- 40:24Speaker 1: on here?
- 40:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and not to mention like we've already talked about,
- 40:30Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, what is the manga?
- 40:35Speaker 1: The manga Uhede Balance?
- 40:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Edge Balance three. So Edge of Balance three features Wreath, Yoda,
- 40:46Speaker 2: and Aslin, but the Asla. So it's hard to picture
- 40:50Speaker 2: where this takes place in regards to that timeline. It's
- 40:55Speaker 2: like Egges of Echoes. I keep saying Echoes Edge Balance
- 41:00Speaker 2: three before or after this, because I feel like I
- 41:04Speaker 2: think it's be all.
- 41:05Speaker 1: You think it's after.
- 41:06Speaker 2: I feel like it's after.
- 41:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to read it again because I think
- 41:10Speaker 1: it's before. Because because and this is where we get
- 41:16Speaker 1: into small detailed spoilers not very big. The relationship between
- 41:20Speaker 1: Wreath and Aslan in Edge of Balance three seems a
- 41:25Speaker 1: little less confrontational than what we see at the very
- 41:30Speaker 1: end of this book.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Right, But in that same regard, I feel like Aslyn
- 41:36Speaker 2: has a change of heart at the end of Edge
- 41:39Speaker 2: of Balance three. So that's why it's afterwards, because they're confrontational.
- 41:44Speaker 2: And then Aslen kind of has that moment with the
- 41:49Speaker 2: wooky Jedi mastered and just kind of goes okay, like
- 41:55Speaker 2: I have seen.
- 41:56Speaker 1: More, but more so than that, more so than that,
- 42:00Speaker 1: we have already talked about it, so it's okay to
- 42:02Speaker 1: talk about it. An Edge of Balance three, he confronts
- 42:06Speaker 1: a nameless willingly yeah, because before he has always been
- 42:12Speaker 1: scared of the nameless, which is where he went down
- 42:15Speaker 1: the path of the dark Side previously.
- 42:17Speaker 2: And Wreath in the ending chapters tells, as Hey, I
- 42:22Speaker 2: faced a nameless. I faced it. Uh, I can't remember
- 42:26Speaker 2: who said yeah, Okay he does, And so Asen's like,
- 42:32Speaker 2: oh my gosh, you faced it and you survived what
- 42:35Speaker 2: and so like to me, that doesn't speak of someone
- 42:38Speaker 2: who has faced a nameless and survived yet like he does.
- 42:42Speaker 2: An Edge of Balance three.
- 42:45Speaker 1: That is very true. That is very true. So you
- 42:47Speaker 1: might have just convinced me that it has it does afterward.
- 42:51Speaker 1: But that's also like a little critique of mine is
- 42:57Speaker 1: I was a little annoyed that this book was planned
- 43:03Speaker 1: on correct me if I'm wrong. This book was supposed
- 43:07Speaker 1: to come out before be where the name was correct
- 43:11Speaker 1: or no, no it wasn't.
- 43:14Speaker 2: I think it was always set to come out after
- 43:16Speaker 2: BE where the name.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Was okay, because I thought you had said because you
- 43:21Speaker 1: finished the book before me, and you of course read
- 43:23Speaker 1: the acknowledgment and everything else, and you said the release
- 43:28Speaker 1: schedule or something had changed due to his condition.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Oh no, I So I was talking about how they
- 43:37Speaker 2: potentially like lengthened Phase.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Three, like uh, okay.
- 43:43Speaker 2: To maybe help out a little bit while he had
- 43:47Speaker 2: all his skins done and everything, because everything, like for
- 43:52Speaker 2: the Higher Public, everything's kind of taken place over like
- 43:56Speaker 2: a year ish like for each phase and this one
- 44:00Speaker 2: taking place over a year and a half. So to me,
- 44:03Speaker 2: that's like and not to say that I blame them,
- 44:06Speaker 2: like we've already talked about this, but it was just like, so, yeah, so.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Trying to think of anything else less spoilerish, the one thing.
- 44:23Speaker 2: And probably still a critique, but this is like the
- 44:27Speaker 2: last one I have is I thought Sicharis, which is
- 44:31Speaker 2: a Children of the Storm character in the book, so
- 44:36Speaker 2: we get to know a little bit about Boolin and everything,
- 44:39Speaker 2: and how the children in the Storm are developed into
- 44:43Speaker 2: kind of using that nameless power. We won't go into
- 44:48Speaker 2: that part, but I thought he could have been used
- 44:50Speaker 2: a little bit better, Like that's like my only critic.
- 44:55Speaker 1: He was very much a mustache twirling villain. Yeah, you know,
- 45:04Speaker 1: And I am always a little bit annoyed by those
- 45:06Speaker 1: because I'm like, guys, come on, this is an entire
- 45:10Speaker 1: universe that we have built here with the High Republic,
- 45:14Speaker 1: Like there's so many tools at your disposal, Like we
- 45:18Speaker 1: don't need to use these stereotypes as far as villain
- 45:21Speaker 1: stereotypes to push a story along. So yeah, I do agree.
- 45:26Speaker 1: I feel like he should have been used a little
- 45:29Speaker 1: bit more strongly, and and the ending of that character,
- 45:38Speaker 1: let's you know, getting into spoilers, and I'm sorry, like
- 45:41Speaker 1: I always feel like that type of thing that happened
- 45:44Speaker 1: to him is like okay, like I guess, like, and
- 45:49Speaker 1: it's been happening a lot, like that's not the first
- 45:52Speaker 1: time that's happened.
- 45:54Speaker 2: I feel like we've added so many characters that sometimes
- 45:58Speaker 2: it feels like, Okay, we got to add this character,
- 46:01Speaker 2: but then like we've got to drop in mm hmmm.
- 46:04Speaker 1: So it's the easiest way to just be like, hey this,
- 46:06Speaker 1: let's just make this happen, right.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Yeah. It was like I'm still hoping the publishing initiative
- 46:11Speaker 2: doesn't actually end with phase three, that other authors or
- 46:15Speaker 2: these authors are able to go back in and fill
- 46:17Speaker 2: in some planks.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Why.
- 46:19Speaker 1: I really want them to, Like I really do, and
- 46:22Speaker 1: I think that there's a lot of people that are
- 46:24Speaker 1: really willing to say, like, hey, let's keep going with this.
- 46:29Speaker 1: We will purchase these books if you keep going.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Uh yeah. But it's also like Michael Siglane has also
- 46:35Speaker 2: talked about how they have something else planned.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I was literally going to say, both Tom and Michael
- 46:40Speaker 1: have told everybody, oh, don't worry, we have things planned.
- 46:45Speaker 1: But we already know that they have like the the
- 46:48Speaker 1: trilogy of the uh uh oh shoot, what is the
- 46:52Speaker 1: title of that trilogy called?
- 46:54Speaker 2: Uh We're gonna get more news about it this week apparently.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw that in our Star Wars. Yes, they
- 47:04Speaker 1: have that coming up. You know fairly soon, and that's
- 47:09Speaker 1: that's way too separated from the timeline. So I'm just like, no, like,
- 47:13Speaker 1: don't go back to that.
- 47:15Speaker 2: That's not gonna be it. Like I am highly betting
- 47:18Speaker 2: that they're going to go into Star Wars Celebration and
- 47:21Speaker 2: tell us the bare minimum, like we are going to
- 47:24Speaker 2: get the project name, like we had Project Lubinus for
- 47:27Speaker 2: a full year before it was ever actually announced.
- 47:31Speaker 1: That's true.
- 47:32Speaker 2: So Star Wars Celebration and bending money on it, we're
- 47:36Speaker 2: getting something.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Hopefully, hopefully. But I want to go specifically into chapter
- 47:46Speaker 1: twenty five.
- 47:47Speaker 2: All right, here's your spoiler heavy warning.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Yes, spoiler heavy warning.
- 47:53Speaker 2: And we're about to jump into our third ad.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Y'all.
- 47:57Speaker 2: We promise we'll be right back.
- 47:58Speaker 1: We promise this is for chapter twenty five, because I
- 48:03Speaker 1: also texted UK this morning saying or was it last night?
- 48:08Speaker 1: It was one of the two. I think it was
- 48:09Speaker 1: either last night or this morning, where I said I
- 48:13Speaker 1: only have criticism towards this book if there is no
- 48:19Speaker 1: answers for this specific thing, and I should have criticism
- 48:24Speaker 1: because they didn't answer it. But it looks like this
- 48:30Speaker 1: is going to be a stretched out plotline, which I
- 48:35Speaker 1: am totally okay with as long as it actually gets answered. So, guys,
- 48:44Speaker 1: in chapter twenty five we are we open up with
- 48:52Speaker 1: Wreath having a vision.
- 48:55Speaker 2: I loved this vision. It was so articular. It in
- 49:00Speaker 2: like haunting is like it was intense that man uses
- 49:05Speaker 2: and like, just go ahead and spoil it. It does
- 49:09Speaker 2: not get resolved by in the book.
- 49:11Speaker 1: It does not get resolved. But also you have to
- 49:13Speaker 1: remember you're you're saying, how like you love like how
- 49:17Speaker 1: creepy and stuff it was. Remember George Man did right
- 49:24Speaker 1: in phase two, the most terrifying book that we read,
- 49:29Speaker 1: and I hated it and you hated it, And now
- 49:32Speaker 1: you're looking at this and you're like it's so intense
- 49:35Speaker 1: and beautiful and disgusting and awesome and like, so here's
- 49:38Speaker 1: the thing. Reath has a vision and I need to
- 49:43Speaker 1: know because this, like magnum opus. My brain literally broke
- 49:51Speaker 1: in half when this vision took place, because I was like,
- 49:55Speaker 1: hold the fucking bone. They knew that the entire goddamn time,
- 50:02Speaker 1: and nobody has decided to say, hey, you know what,
- 50:07Speaker 1: there's time for renovations, or hey, maybe we should move
- 50:11Speaker 1: this temple over there, when there is not a goddamn
- 50:15Speaker 1: Sith freaking temple underneath us what wait?
- 50:20Speaker 2: Oh wait, we knew that already. That was revealed an
- 50:23Speaker 2: end of the Dark.
- 50:27Speaker 1: But that's the thing. This whole time, they're just like, yes, there,
- 50:33Speaker 1: so what right, right?
- 50:35Speaker 2: But they're trying to recover the virgins that's there because remember,
- 50:40Speaker 2: like the Sith built the temple there specifically because of
- 50:44Speaker 2: the virgins. So the Jedi won the war and tried
- 50:47Speaker 2: to take over the Sith temple so they could re
- 50:51Speaker 2: purpose the virgins for the light.
- 50:57Speaker 1: A man forgotten that little bit. But I'm reading this.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I'm reading this and I'm like, your's new to your door,
- 51:08Speaker 1: Like I'm getting frustrated, but also like, okay, there's got
- 51:13Speaker 1: to be like something to this, like right, So Reith
- 51:18Speaker 1: is like, I gotta tell someone, and I'm like, okay,
- 51:22Speaker 1: he's gonna tell Like this is me relearning that everybody
- 51:27Speaker 1: knows about this, right without me actually relearning because I
- 51:31Speaker 1: just forgot. So then he goes to Vernestra, and Vernestra's like, oh,
- 51:36Speaker 1: you mean the Sith temple And I'm like, you know too,
- 51:39Speaker 1: what's wrong with everybody here? You are all just as
- 51:44Speaker 1: bad as Yoda? What the hell? And so They're just like,
- 51:48Speaker 1: let's go check it out. And they are wowing down
- 51:53Speaker 1: these steps, just chilling. They're like, we're going to the
- 51:56Speaker 1: set tempo. We're going to sit temple.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yah, Clay's got tears come out of my
- 52:01Speaker 2: eyes on that.
- 52:03Speaker 1: And they go to this temple and it starts to
- 52:05Speaker 1: get really intense, like don't get me wrong, like it
- 52:07Speaker 1: is like Vanessa's feeling very weary about it. Reith is
- 52:11Speaker 1: feeling very weary about it. Like they're pulling out their
- 52:14Speaker 1: light sabers, they're ready to attack, and like Vanessa's like,
- 52:17Speaker 1: what's on the other side of this door and Reithe's
- 52:19Speaker 1: like no, And they open the door and there's nothing.
- 52:25Speaker 1: In the vision, Reith basically saw himself as the way
- 52:29Speaker 1: that Aslin is today, sunken in eyes, no eyeballs, like
- 52:34Speaker 1: the whole shriveling up. Like basically he saw himself as Asla,
- 52:39Speaker 1: and so he's like, this is this, this is gonna
- 52:42Speaker 1: be very wrong. There's something behind here that just doesn't
- 52:44Speaker 1: feel right. They open the door and there's nothing there
- 52:48Speaker 1: and they're like oh. But then like when their eyes
- 52:52Speaker 1: started to really focus and like the light started to
- 52:55Speaker 1: shine inside of the temple.
- 52:58Speaker 4: They're like, oh, blight, And then I felt like throwing
- 53:04Speaker 4: this book out the freaking window because I'm like, the
- 53:11Speaker 4: blight is in corusant underneath the temple.
- 53:15Speaker 2: It's never revealed how the blake gets.
- 53:18Speaker 1: There, and that is the answers that I need. And
- 53:21Speaker 1: this is why I'm like semi pissed off. But also
- 53:24Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, fine, this is an ongoing story blah
- 53:28Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah because small spoilers for the ending
- 53:33Speaker 1: of the book. The investigation keeps going as of why
- 53:36Speaker 1: this is happening all of and again this is why
- 53:41Speaker 1: I think, like I'm totally on the side of Adrian.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Jedis are cops. They're not great cops. They are bad cops. Okay,
- 53:51Speaker 1: they know that this viral infection that is that is
- 53:55Speaker 1: a world destroyer is on their planet and they're like,
- 54:00Speaker 1: don't tell anyone. We're not gonna tell anyone.
- 54:04Speaker 2: And they choose to use the so they're trying to
- 54:08Speaker 2: hold it back with the blight method that Burri Yoga
- 54:14Speaker 2: picked up in Temptation of the foresh.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Yes, And I'm like, Okay, that's interesting. But then this
- 54:21Speaker 1: asshole name Yoda is using this technique along with three
- 54:30Speaker 1: other Jedi and Vernestra one day is like, hey, Yoda,
- 54:35Speaker 1: I know I shouldn't be here and like destroying your
- 54:38Speaker 1: concentration or whatever, but I really feel this and I
- 54:41Speaker 1: really need to, you know, you really need to talk
- 54:43Speaker 1: to somebody about it. And Yoda's like, don't worry about it.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I could talk. And as soon as his concentration like
- 54:51Speaker 1: just stops on the blight, you like the way George
- 54:55Speaker 1: Man describes it, every other Jedi just starts to like
- 54:58Speaker 1: slump over and it's like ruggling in and Vernessa's like, Yoda,
- 55:02Speaker 1: I think you need to help these people. And Yoda's
- 55:04Speaker 1: like they got it. They're good. Like they are. Yoda
- 55:13Speaker 1: is an asshole, my god.
- 55:17Speaker 2: I'm like he just likes to have faith in the
- 55:19Speaker 2: people around him.
- 55:22Speaker 1: This thing literally destroying worlds, destroying entire ecosystems, killing millions
- 55:32Speaker 1: of people across the galaxy, and Yoda's like, it's fine, cool,
- 55:38Speaker 1: I'll get back to it. It'll be it's not like
- 55:41Speaker 1: it's going anywhere. I'll be there in a second. I'll
- 55:44Speaker 1: fix it, you know, Like what an asshole?
- 55:54Speaker 4: How go?
- 55:57Speaker 1: Like? This dude is totally a free jerk. I was like, Yoda,
- 56:03Speaker 1: I've done with you man, Like I have made this
- 56:06Speaker 1: joke about him being the worst character in Star Wars
- 56:09Speaker 1: for so long. I think this did it. This totally
- 56:12Speaker 1: was just like the icing on the cake. Like I'm
- 56:17Speaker 1: like whatever, man. And you don't see him again after
- 56:21Speaker 1: this incident. You know, you hear him in reference of
- 56:25Speaker 1: like Vanessa saying like, oh, I'll talk to the council
- 56:27Speaker 1: or whatever. But after this one incident of him just
- 56:30Speaker 1: like totally like sidestepping these the other Jedi and letting
- 56:33Speaker 1: them just basically probably die. Uh Like, it's just like whatever.
- 56:41Speaker 1: But that's the thing. This thing is slowly taking over
- 56:44Speaker 1: the Temple and they're using this technique to hold it off.
- 56:49Speaker 1: And we're not gonna say how they are able to
- 56:51Speaker 1: hold it off for so long, but like it's still growing,
- 56:58Speaker 1: and of course we know that there's still a chorus
- 57:05Speaker 1: hunt and there's still a Jedi tiple by the time
- 57:07Speaker 1: that Obi Wan is a master and Anakin is in
- 57:11Speaker 1: the temple and all the other things.
- 57:13Speaker 2: How the like this is where up in three books.
- 57:18Speaker 1: That's my thing. That is my thing because we learn
- 57:24Speaker 1: quote unquote learn it's honestly just relearning the secret of
- 57:30Speaker 1: how to stop the nameless. But like the.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Staff that Marcion bro carries, like.
- 57:43Speaker 1: We we see like these revelations that like Ritha's having
- 57:48Speaker 1: in his lab. It's like, oh man, it's gonna be
- 57:50Speaker 1: this thing, and like this all this research, like I'm
- 57:53Speaker 1: so close to the answer, and it's like, are you
- 57:56Speaker 1: telling me that we knew the goddamn answer the whole time?
- 58:02Speaker 2: Well, we the audience knew it.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Yes, But here's here's the problem that I have. The
- 58:10Speaker 1: staff we have seen stops or prevents. I'm not gonna
- 58:19Speaker 1: say stop because it hasn't proven. We haven't seen that
- 58:23Speaker 1: it proves anything. Because look at the mother in Phase two.
- 58:30Speaker 1: She double edged sword here was using herself as a
- 58:37Speaker 1: feeding tube for the nameless as well as finding it
- 58:41Speaker 1: off with these things, So like is it really something
- 58:46Speaker 1: that can stop them or like you know, like right,
- 58:49Speaker 1: but that's not the blight. And that's the other thing.
- 58:53Speaker 1: We see Wreath and Amadeo come up with this hypothesis.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Oh they're one and the same, you know, And they are,
- 59:04Speaker 1: but they aren't right, Like that is just very clear,
- 59:09Speaker 1: like hey, one comes from an actual living thing, while
- 59:13Speaker 1: the other just manifests and destroys planets. So like in
- 59:18Speaker 1: my mind, I'm like, how the hell you can see
- 59:22Speaker 1: physically through this thing that was able to see? Okay,
- 59:27Speaker 1: this staff stops these monsters creatures because there's Afy and
- 59:36Speaker 1: wreath both like see some sort of humility in these creatures,
- 59:40Speaker 1: and they're like, okay, they're also being used as weapons,
- 59:43Speaker 1: which I totally understand, which I get it right, But
- 59:48Speaker 1: the blight is not a creature that you can just stop.
- 59:54Speaker 1: And That's what I'm wanting to know, like, how is
- 59:57Speaker 1: this going to be resolved in a and in a
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: sense like cause for us, let's let's go into real
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: life for a second. The blight in my mind, and
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I even said this when Wave three was kind of
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: shown as this, like, oh, the sickness is going to
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: be taking over the galaxy. I even asked you, is
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: this way too close to home with COVID? With COVID,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: it's a virus and we know, okay, we fight viruses
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: with viruses, vaccines and all of this. There is science
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: with this. The blight is taking on such an entity
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: of organic natural things, like how is it? How are
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: we going to take care of this in universe? That's
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: not going to feel like, oh, we fixed it, you.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Know, and this should be our final ad break. So y'all,
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be right.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: So my thought process is is so okay. So the
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Echoes of Fear is where I keep getting echoes from.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: That's a comic run that's done by George Mann talking
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: about the stones that we saw barnabas Vim looking for
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: in Phase two. Yes, and so in that regard, my
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: thought process is is there's three stones, and so marcion
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Roe's staff contains two of them, we think, and so
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: there's another one out there. So potentially uniting all three
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: stones based off the Talamites that we get to not
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: meet but also sort of meet in this book, my
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: thought process is reuniting those stones and returning all of
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: the nameless back to their planet. That stops all of
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: the blight. It doesn't get rid of it like we
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: see on the Tallomites home world. There's a metal that's
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: stopping the blight on the home world. So my question
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: for you, because that metal does not get a name
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: in this book, is that correct?
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Correct? It just says an ore?
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Is this the reveal or the first time we see cortosis,
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: and cortosis has multiple uses.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I was thinking the exact same thing, because the way
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: and we also saw that, you know, a different way
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: to use kyber in this book as well as coffins.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: That was interesting. But the idea of cortosis being introduced
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: here as a nulla fier to the blight, that would
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: be interesting. But the again, and this is just a
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: victim of writers having ideas after the fact. Right, Oh,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: courtrusis is a thing, so I'm going to find an
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: origin for it, right, That's just unfortunately how things are
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: created sometimes. And so we only see very small portions
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: of cortosis in Canon currently, and we are now about
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: to find a huge reservoir of it to save an
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: entire galaxy. That's my issue that I don't.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: I don't think we've only seen it in small bits though,
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: I don't think so. So, yeah, there's a whole mine
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: in uh the throng plant in yep, and then we
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: see a small vein in the acolyte mm hmm so
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: and then like in a doctor Afra, there's like she
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: has a full on cortosis blade so mm hm. And
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: that's what she uses to battle Darth Vader. So I'm thinking, like,
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: we only saw it in a small vein, but that
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: in Acolyte. But that's only because we only saw that portion.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: Yeah, very true. I I think it would be cool.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I think that it's a good introduction to krotosis, and
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: it would make sense. See it does and does not
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: make sense because here's the thing Wreath. And again this
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: is a double edged sword in the sense of like
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: how you make these characters before and after the fact
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: of how things already are in the Star Wars universe. Right,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Wreath is a character that we have seen in this
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: book say, hey, this isn't for the glory of myself.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: It's for the you know, it's the survival of the galaxy. Right.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: But at the same time, Wreath is a scientist. He's
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: going to dissect every little piece of new thing that
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: he can find, and he is he gets so excited
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: about these things. So for this or and for cortosis
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: and all of these other things, like for things like
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: the acolyte, I feel like, because this is taking place
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: before the Acolyte, Jenn, I should know what cortosis is.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: You know, right, But that accolldees one hundred and fifty
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: years later.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I understand, and you're right. I mean that bastard Yoda
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: is hiding all the information from all of his Jedi
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: that these dudes are gonna die anyway, might as well
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: keep all of his information for myself. Sorry, I still
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: can't get over that, dude.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: I mean, Vernestra would know what cortosis is exactly.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: And that and well, and I think that would make
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: a little bit like a little bit more of an
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: intriguing conversation for a season two people and flashbacks on
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: why he decides to get a cortosis helmet through the
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: stories of Vernestra telling him, Oh, there was this one time, right.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: And I'm not saying it is cortosis. I just had
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: a theory.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: It's a theory, yeah, And I'm not trying to like
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: dissect and destroy the theory. I'm just saying, this is
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: how the theory could work, and it couldn't work. These
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: are two different things.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: And I don't think there's anything wrong with giving it
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: an origin story.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: Ye, So yeah, I think that it would be very interesting.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: One other thing, as far as topics go, I've always
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: said how I love the very fantasy things in science
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: fiction and in fantasy novels. We get to see a
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: titan in this book, Like, and I say titan, Like,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: you remember how big the Bindu was in Rebels. I'm
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: just gonna say this, guys, think of a Titan. Think
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: of Godzilla. There's a Godzilla in Star Wars. They've introduced
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: a Godzilla in Star Wars. Now it's not actual lizard
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: like Godzilla, but think of size of Godzilla. They've introduced
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: it in Star Wars.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: So like to give people a picture, like, have you
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: seen Avatar the Last Airbender? Like the animated one.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: The animated one? Yes?
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: Have you seen Cora?
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: Okay, so you know the episode where they talk about
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: the creation of Bending and these giant turtles with like
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: the yes islands, Like I'm basically thinking.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: That, oh no, it's bigger than really you think it's
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: bigger if you if you go back and read, there
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: is a moment there's three different times that they explain
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the size of this thing. Yeah, one wreath is explaining
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: the feet, and then they explain the head, and then
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: they explain the spine. If you are thinking it out,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: you can literally see the expansion of this creature. This
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: thing is massive to the point of it creating earthquakes
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: on the planet that they are on.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: I guess I.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Would have thought that the Avatar one was similar because
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: but I've always had trouble like picturing depth and everything.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Like because because the way that they describe it, and
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: I know, we're kind of getting more into spoilers, but
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: there's this creature that they thought was a mountain at first,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: and then he describes, Oh, that peak that I thought
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: was a mountain, Oh, that was only a piece of
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: its spine. If you think of a whole spine, think
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: of one piece of it, think of where its head
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: might be.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: At that point, okay, you're like, holy crap. And then
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: they are explaining with every step the entire core of
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: the planet is shifting and shaking, and then at one
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: point it kind of makes it seem smaller. But then,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: like you really start to read this thing, the Nameless
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: decide to go after it. It's like ooh food, and
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, you're dead. And it never even like
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: concludes with like, oh the Nameless dies, like it literally
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: the Nameless jumps on its back, and it eventually is
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: just like I'm going to go back in the water,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: and then you're gonna drown, like and it never resolves.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: It they just like run away because they're just like
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: we're not they used to deal with it exactly. And
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: I like the fact that I like we got to
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: see basically Godzilla in Star Wars. That makes me happy.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: I'm like, this is freaking phenomenal. Like, and it gets
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: to a point where like these things are so strong
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: in the Force and so dormant in how they were
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: just resting on this planet, Like just communicating with it
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: like exolves Wreath of almost all of his energy. Like
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: He's like, this is taking literally everything out of me.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: But at the same time, he feels like this is
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: the strongest thing in the Force that he has ever
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: felt in his entire life. Like that's cool. Like I
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: was getting goosebumps and I was getting really giddy like
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: reading this whole thing, I was like, this is so cool.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: But yeah, I really dug this book. As far as
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: naming it, I think it might be top five. I
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: would really have to go back. I think after phase
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: three is completely over, I think I'm gonna go through
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: a full reread. I think I'm gonna go from Light
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: of the Jedi all the way to Trials of the Jedi.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: I think so too, And I think we need to
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: try to get the minoch manner guys on so we
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: could all do like a giant breakfest or something.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that would be really, really fun.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: So we need to talk about the elephant in the
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: room though, And I think this is the last thing
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: we need to talk about, because we talked about how
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: Reet had great character development, Amadale fantastic, But we need
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: to talk about one character we have not mentioned yet.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: Oh well, I guess we did technically mention him. Anyways, Komak.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: I thought the way that Comac was reintegrated in the
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: flashback sequences that we get for Comac was it cred
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: It really speaks a lot into the imposters room that
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Comack faces. And you saw it. You see it in
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: every book that Comak has really been in that he
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: deals with that imposter syndrome that Okay, I have faith,
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: but do I have faith? But like really and just
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: articulating that instance with Orla, by the way, I love
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: getting Orla back, like she was gone too soon? Like
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: can we please have her back? Like Orla please?
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: I And we almost did it, We almost did. I
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: got really excited I did too, and I was like,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: there's no way, it makes total sense that out of everybody,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: she would be the one to do it right. Yes,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: And I was like this is amazing, Like this would
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: be so fun as like oh the one and only
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: because she has connections to l Zar to Cormac, Like
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: it would be so good and I really wanted it
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: to happen. I kind of got a little upset when
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: like it wasn't real and I was like I did
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: d like why did you do this to me, George?
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: But yeah, I really enjoyed that moment.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: What did you think about Comac during the whole book?
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: You call it an elephant in the room, And I
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: don't know how I feel about it, because, like you said,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: he has this imposter syndrome. There was like it was
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: a huge moment for him to just hand over his
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: lightsaber and go walk into the jungle and then him
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: just disappear right and then we just see him randomly
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: on this planet. He gets hunted by this Jedi hunter
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: and then he's like, I have to go home, but
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: is it really my home? I'm not entirely sure. And
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: then he has these like awkward conversations with Wreath and
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: at the very end they're like, oh, he's gonna stick
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: around for a little while. We don't know for how long,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: but it is what it is. And like then him
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: and Reath to have this like they in the book
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: with Oh, don't worry, I'm here, And in the back
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: of my mind, I'm like, until when.
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: Because it's gonna come back, though I I don't know how.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I feel about that, due to the fact that we've
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: seen other Jedi walk away and they've had this idea
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: of like coming back but not coming back I mean famously.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: I mean, she came back at the worst time ever.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: But look at Asoka. She's like, I'm not really back,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: but I'm back, And then like Order sixty six and
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: she's like shit with Cormack, I I think I'll be
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: okay because Wreath is okay, because I think Wreath overall
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: was really struggling. Like my boy was like he was
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: having an identity crisis without Cormack, and just like the
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: really awkward thing was from time to time he was
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: just like Master, Master Master, and he's like, oh, it's
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: just Cormack. It's just Cormack a lie and like trying
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: to kind of separating him. But not really separating from
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: him because he still wanted to be there for Breath.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: But in the end they're like having just normal conversations.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: I think I think he will be there for the
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: ending of this face as a Jedi Master, so I
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: think it'll be fine.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: But like I think he's going to get a council spot.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Do you think he'll get a council spot? Huh? Well,
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: you know, I I mean, you can fail upwards. I guess, yeah,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: you left, you left the Jedi Order. Welcome to the Council.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: But that's that's what Yoda does. I mean, you did
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: that with oh my gosh, what's what's the Jedi Master?
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: That was Lula's Lula talas Las.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Yes, no, you're totally right, yep, can't sigh.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: That's what it is. That is what he did, and
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: it's basically just part of your journey. And that's what
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: I think Comaxon is a journey.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I mean, I guess, uh, okay, gosh.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: I was gonna say one more thing. Okay, I can't
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: remember what I was gonna say, and.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: It was something completely different. So it wasn't even like
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: something that you could go like, we'll pat me back
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: on track.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: It This was a great book, guys. I think that
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: you will have a lot of fun with it. It
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: is a very intense, very sad, very hype in so
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: many different ways of this book. I'm sorry, I'm gonna
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: spoil this one thing. I'm just gonna say, rip Mester locks. Yeah,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: in the worst possible way, like like with a smile
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: on his face and everything, like I ripped my heart out.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: It my heart out.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I remembered, I remember it. So you talked about
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: a name drop? Were you talking about barnabas them? No?
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: I was talking about cause again, remember I didn't remember.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: So when I saw the Virgins, I was like, yeah,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I go, I I remember what a vergence was. And
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: I was like, oh, they're talking about virgences. This is cool.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: But you're over here like, yeah, we knew this play,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Like are you an idiot? Like what's wrong with you?
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: And I'm over here like I don't know.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: Here we go. I'll tell you. The only reason I
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: remember is because we talked about it with the act
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: Lite and I looked up to see because I thought
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: we had had like this wasn't the first appearance of
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: a virgence, and so I looked it up. Then and
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: that's when I read the Wikipedia article that allowed me
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: to remember.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So like I saw at the very end
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: of Vernestra talking about a virgens and I was like, oh,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: it's there, it's there. Cool, And then you're over here,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: like Clay, we knew this. It's like the fuck I
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: don't remember.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Oh I remembered one more thing. Sorry, this is the
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: last thing I swear because I'm ready for bed, as
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: you can tell, because I'm getting like this weird energy thing. Okay,
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: so a spy stop looking at me like that. A
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: So somebody reveals to Boolin that Wreath and Komac are
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: going to the Tolmites homeworld.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Yes, this goes along with my whole like it's not
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: revealed thing and answers still need to be answered. What
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: do you think it is?
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: I don't think it's Aslin.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: I think I don't think it's Aslin either.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: I think they put the communicator station there to make
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: it look like Aslin.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: I so Aslin is too obvious, like it's it's Aslin
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: is like the hey, look over here, look over here,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: I'm over here. Look look and it's it's not as
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: if it's Yoda. I completely understand, but like, I don't
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: think it's Yoda. Guys, Yoda has been the Dark Lord
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: the entire time. That is, that is the secret to
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: Star Wars. That is the secret to Star Wars. Palpatine
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: was just a face.
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: Okay, I didn't think I'd laughed as much in this review.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: I don't know who it is though. That's the thing
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: that pisces me off, like I because they make it
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: very subtle. Okay. So the reveal of the Jedi Temple,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: the Blight and all of this stuff comes at chapter
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: twenty five, and then we start to see a little
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: bit more of Brenestra down near Aslyn's chambers, which is
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: where you see the communication room, and it's it's just
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: the way George Man plays it is like, oh, you
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: see Bullin have this conversation. Then they go on the mission.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: You hear the transmission again, and then like if you're
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: not paying attention, you're like, oh shit, hold on a second.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: There's somebody within the Jedi Temple beating information. And here's
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: the thing. Here's the thing. I'm gonna mention something that
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: is technically cannon in Star Wars, but not within the
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: timeline of High Republic we know that in the Red Blade, okay,
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: the Janitor was in on the secrets of the Temple
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: and all of this other stuff, right, and like we
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: know that eventually Palpatine will get in there and everything else.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: The Jedi Temple is really old. I mean, the Sith
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: Temple is very old. The Sith Temple is very old.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: What if this is to let steeds of like the
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: very early inklings of the Sith making their first steps
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: to take over and all of this. I don't think
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: so you don't think so, or do you think it's
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: gonna be resolved.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: I think it's gonna get resolved.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: And I'm gonna tell you just what I wanted to
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: put on my tinfoil hat on for a little second
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: because it was immediate like, oh, you know, it could
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: be the Janitor and I was like, that's stupid, but
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: it could be.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: It could be.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: But and here's the thing though, Like if it's not
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: somebody that is already pre introduced, if it's not a
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: pre existing character, I'm gonna feel let down because it's
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: like I don't know who that is. That's not a
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: big impactful thing. Who cares? But that I know that's
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: gonna hit a lot harder.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: Someone tell you who I think it is. And it's
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: specifically because of one line in this book. So Master
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: rye Kisaka comes to Breathe after the council meeting where
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: he talks about Aslin and is like, don't trust as.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, he plants the seed. He's like, I don't think
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: you should do it. Like, remember he's not looking for
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: your best interests. And again we see a lot of
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: that in this book. But I think it's only to
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: deter the reader from thinking, oh, it's Aslan who's doing it.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, And because remember ry Kisaka was like he was
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: put into I think it was the Art of the
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: Higher Republic as a grand Master, but then in Characters
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: of the Jedi, he wasn't a grand master, and then
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: he got promoted like during the year between phase one
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: and Phase three as a grand Master. So he's kind
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: of risen up and everything. But what if he got
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: got and that's why he disappeared and like came back
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: and so he's a secret children of the Storm.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: Oh I never considered that.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: It just got to be because I thought that was what
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: was gonna happen with Eve, was that Eve was going
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: to go in and then they were gonna send her
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: back out as so.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: And that's and that's why I think your theory has
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: a lot to it because the uh I forget his name,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: the Jedi Hunter ciitaris kept on reiterating like, oh, I
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: need a live one, like this is gonna be a
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: good test for father. I need a live one. I
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: need a live one. I'm like, and I'm thinking, like,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: why do you need a Jedi that's alive? Like there's
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: there's nothing in previous books.
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: It's all in the comic, the Marvel comic. So and
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: that's because that's where is featured.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: And that's what I mean, like people who are just
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: reading the books, because remember, I'm waiting until a lot
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: of these books are collected and everything, so I'm I'm
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: falling behind a little bit, but not as much so
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: like I may have to pick up the comic and
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: see if there's any more connecting dots here.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: So the Marvel comic comes out in November, and that's
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: through issue ten. Plus it has the kal Knaka issue,
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: so we'll talk about that then. And that's in November.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: But then Echoes of Fear, the oh my gosh, the
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: Bounty Hunter Jedi Padawan girl with a purple lightsaber tie.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: It's been like Kevin Scott's like all Ages comic book.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Oh yes, uh, the the Jedi Padawan bounty Hunter. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: you know who I'm talking about. I see the face, like,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: I literally have the art in my head, like I
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: see it.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I just can't think of the title of that comic.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: So those are getting collected in March and April, I think.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: And then we'll see how The High Republic Adventures comes
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: because I don't know when that's getting collected, so yeah, yeah.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: We will see. It's gonna be very interesting. I think
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: that having a double agent within the Jedi Temple is
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: very interesting because not only would we then have an
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: answer for who warned the Nie Hill about said missions,
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: but we then have an answer of who gave birth
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: to the blight on coorissants. I think it's so we
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: will see because it's the perfect cover up to be like, oh,
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: it's a bad omen the Sifth Temple created the blight,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: you know type of thing. Yeah, because it's a thing
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: like because again, you look at these things that have
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: that were like ancient like legends, like the Shri Karai
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: and like feeding into it and like all these different things,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: right and just planting that seed like metaphorically in like
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: literally with the blight in the Jedi Temple, like you
