- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I Megan,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a
- 0:16Speaker 1: former Hallmark heater. On today's episode, we are discussing our
- 0:20Speaker 1: first impressions for the June movie drop, the summer night's
- 0:24Speaker 1: Hallmark activation, a quick vibe check on these four movies,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and our thoughts on what's coming for us in this
- 0:32Speaker 1: first summer month. If you want to keep up with
- 0:35Speaker 1: our reviews, our schedule when we're dropping reviews coming very
- 0:40Speaker 1: soon will be our summer schedule, once we figure out
- 0:44Speaker 1: what it's going to be, because we will be covering
- 0:47Speaker 1: some things outside of the currently airing Hallmark lineup. We're
- 0:51Speaker 1: doing Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas movies in July and
- 0:54Speaker 1: July and the rest of the summer is a mystery
- 0:58Speaker 1: to you and I as well. So follow us on
- 1:01Speaker 1: Instagram where we are Girls Gone Homewark to hear that announcement.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Are you ready to jump into these first impressions, Wendy,
- 1:10Speaker 1: not really, None of these are me. Let's talk about it.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Let's talk about it. Movie number one, The Greek Isle,
- 1:20Speaker 1: premiering on June six, stars Nikki de Looche and Apostolis Totsikis.
- 1:27Speaker 1: The synopsis goes oologies Georgia goes to Corfu to deal
- 1:33Speaker 1: with an unexpected inheritance, only to find out there's a catch.
- 1:37Speaker 1: She has to marry her coat inherit her and that's
- 1:40Speaker 1: a wild leaps, the wild leap. You guys can inherit,
- 1:44Speaker 1: but you gotta get married, says who. I would just
- 1:48Speaker 1: be like, no, you can carry that money. Are you
- 1:50Speaker 1: so desperate for X amount of dollars? Like maybe maybe
- 1:54Speaker 1: that's where the movie opens, where she's like hustling as like,
- 1:58Speaker 1: you know, got ten jobs and it's waiting for a windfall,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and here it is. But now she's got to marry
- 2:05Speaker 1: her co inheritor. Yet she's that's her handsome co inheritor. Fine,
- 2:11Speaker 1: I don't know how any sane person is like, okay, okay, sure,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'll be that. It's it's fake dating taken to the extreme.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You think, okay, okay, hold on, do you think she's
- 2:25Speaker 1: one of them? Is going to percent like present, like, okay,
- 2:29Speaker 1: let's get married, we'll get our dollars and then there
- 2:32Speaker 1: bounce and then they fall in love. Of course, you
- 2:35Speaker 1: nailed it. That's the entire movie right there? Thats it.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I don't want to sound like a current fault hallmarkter. No,
- 2:43Speaker 1: I don't want to sound like a geography snob or idiot.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But where is Corfu? Greece? But the Greek Isle never
- 2:54Speaker 1: heard of this place. I'm sure it's gorgeous. Did they
- 2:57Speaker 1: film all location? I hope so? I think they did.
- 3:01Speaker 1: You know what? It would have been so great in
- 3:03Speaker 1: casting wise. Look, I'm sure this actor is great. I'm
- 3:08Speaker 1: sure he's handsome. But I think what would have been
- 3:11Speaker 1: really funny is if they would have cast Michael Rady
- 3:16Speaker 1: because he played the original like Greek Cutie and the
- 3:21Speaker 1: sister heard of the Traveling Pan. Yes, that's funny, funny, funny, funny,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and Michael Rady hasn't been around in a minute. So
- 3:31Speaker 1: I would love to see Michael Rady, Yeah, in a movie.
- 3:34Speaker 1: He's always would working over on his Instagram. Excuse me,
- 3:38Speaker 1: he's doing what I heard? I'm into it? You heard me? Hey?
- 3:42Speaker 1: The Corfu is an island off of the northwest coast
- 3:46Speaker 1: of Greece. I'm sure it's stunning. Greece is one of
- 3:49Speaker 1: those places that I would like to go to someday
- 3:51Speaker 1: me too. Let's go, okay, all right, cruise a Greek
- 3:56Speaker 1: island cruise. Oh, I like that idea. Let's go. What's
- 4:00Speaker 1: your what's your vibe on this one? Megan? My thoughts
- 4:04Speaker 1: on this are I like an on location movie because
- 4:07Speaker 1: I want summer vibes, Like when we talk like, I
- 4:10Speaker 1: want good point. We talked kind of about the Winter
- 4:13Speaker 1: Escape movies and how we're like, yeah, I want to
- 4:15Speaker 1: feel like I'm on vacation. I don't need a full month.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I don't need summer escape. I don't need you to
- 4:21Speaker 1: take me to a different location every week. Okay, but
- 4:24Speaker 1: I want to go to Greece. Make me want to
- 4:26Speaker 1: go to Greece. There's absolutely no way they didn't shoot
- 4:29Speaker 1: this on location, because it's if they're trying to do
- 4:31Speaker 1: fau Greece in Vancouver, Victoria, British Columbia as Greece, it's
- 4:36Speaker 1: not gonna work, folks. So I like that. Fake dating
- 4:41Speaker 1: is my favorite romance trope, as we all know. So
- 4:45Speaker 1: when it's done well, it's a good one. And I
- 4:49Speaker 1: believe in Nikki Delosh's ability to deliver here. I do too,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and I'm hoping, is it possible we get a shirtless
- 4:56Speaker 1: scene for you? Know the Greek Islands. You might e
- 5:01Speaker 1: I'm not opposed to that at all. Shirtless white linen
- 5:04Speaker 1: pants scene, that's right low slung on the hips. I know. Wait,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I'm not even going to mention it on this podcast
- 5:13Speaker 1: because I know that you watch Real Housewives of Beverly Hill's.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I can't figure out what we're going with. Erik Ka
- 5:18Speaker 1: Jane talks about those things. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, gross
- 5:23Speaker 1: next step. On Saturday, June thirteenth, we have The Texas
- 5:26Speaker 1: Two Steps starring Heather Hemmons and Brendan Penny. A woman
- 5:30Speaker 1: goes back to Texas to help save her family's bar,
- 5:32Speaker 1: and he'll connects with a cowboy from her past. Check mark.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Yeah right. This coming home save the family business not
- 5:40Speaker 1: always my favorite situation. Do we have a writer on this?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Do we know a writer and or director on this?
- 5:48Speaker 1: There is a Debbie McCumber book titled Texas Two Step.
- 5:54Speaker 1: So Debbie mccumber's Texas Two Steps. Struggling to run the
- 5:57Speaker 1: business her father has left her, Ellie Fraser Lean's heavy
- 6:00Speaker 1: on her friends for support until her relationship with one
- 6:03Speaker 1: of them, rancher Glenn Patterson, deepens into love. So I
- 6:07Speaker 1: would say that this was the book that inspired this movie. Well,
- 6:11Speaker 1: the character names are different, but yeah, Tessa and Luke
- 6:14Speaker 1: im d visas Olivia. Oh you're right, Olivia. I don't
- 6:18Speaker 1: know why I saw Tessa. Okay, the way Home on
- 6:21Speaker 1: the brain. J Harrison is in this movie. Excellent. I
- 6:25Speaker 1: don't have a lot of information about this movie. What
- 6:28Speaker 1: are your thoughts? I mean, it could be fun. I
- 6:30Speaker 1: like dancing. Yeah, we're gonna dance. I so we're gonna
- 6:32Speaker 1: get some line dancing. I like a funny Brendan Penny.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Uh huh. I kind of hope we get a little
- 6:38Speaker 1: bit of that. Yeah, right, this role doesn't lead you
- 6:41Speaker 1: to believe he's gonna be funny, Like he's gonna be like,
- 6:43Speaker 1: you know, serious rancher dude. Yes, but yeah, I would
- 6:47Speaker 1: like a Mery Christmas, Ted Cooper Brendan Penny. That would
- 6:51Speaker 1: work for me. I also hope that we were not
- 6:53Speaker 1: getting like what's the kind of music royalty for you?
- 6:56Speaker 1: That's what I'm looking for, like pretend country music. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 1: I hope we get the rights to some real country
- 7:02Speaker 1: songs like can we get a Boots Scoot and booge poop?
- 7:04Speaker 1: Oh my god, please Boot Scoot and Boogie. I mean
- 7:07Speaker 1: the pairing of Heather and Brendan. I'm into, yeah, kind
- 7:13Speaker 1: of think of the last movie Heather has been in.
- 7:16Speaker 1: All I see is the Groom's Men. I know it.
- 7:19Speaker 1: She's happy to have been in something since then the
- 7:22Speaker 1: snow must go on. Oh we liked her in that
- 7:26Speaker 1: and Christmas under the Lights. So I'm you know, I'm
- 7:31Speaker 1: into the pairing. I'm into the actors. We'll have to see.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I just I like a fresh story. This does not
- 7:37Speaker 1: seem like a fresh story, That's all. I'm always open
- 7:41Speaker 1: to it. The next movie premier's June twentieth. It's called
- 7:52Speaker 1: The Love Heist. It stars Lindsay Fonseca and Peter Port.
- 7:57Speaker 1: The synopsis is a stylist and a secure party expert
- 8:00Speaker 1: team up to track down a missing fashion item before
- 8:03Speaker 1: a high profile gala. Is this a mystery or is
- 8:08Speaker 1: this just like a fun action rom com? Maybe just
- 8:12Speaker 1: action me If he direct doesn't seem mystery to me,
- 8:16Speaker 1: action I think is the better word. It is directed
- 8:18Speaker 1: by Kevin Fair, who Kevin Fair did a ton of
- 8:21Speaker 1: Science Sealed Deliver movies like The Line, share of them.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Also recently The Reluctant Royal and Lifetime movie Mormon Mom
- 8:31Speaker 1: Gone Wrong, their Ruby Frankie Story, which I've watched. I mean,
- 8:34Speaker 1: they're in good hands with the with the director, and
- 8:37Speaker 1: they're in good hands with our lead actors as well. Yeah,
- 8:43Speaker 1: great leads. Lindsay Fonzeco wears a dress in this movie
- 8:46Speaker 1: that I really like. However, here's the thing we're dealing with,
- 8:52Speaker 1: high fashion, right. We've talked about this many many, many,
- 8:56Speaker 1: many many many times before. This is hard to do
- 9:00Speaker 1: on a budget, falling on a budget, fallin' on a budget.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Keith Nielsen had to do it with Lazy Shabert's movie
- 9:07Speaker 1: earlier at this year. I thought he did a very
- 9:09Speaker 1: nice job. The photos from this movie. Lindsay looks great
- 9:14Speaker 1: in the clothing she's wearing. She does wear a very
- 9:17Speaker 1: statement e dress that I like. I hope it lands
- 9:20Speaker 1: for other people, but I think they've done a nice
- 9:22Speaker 1: job of trying to send the high fashion vibe. Based
- 9:26Speaker 1: on the photos that I'm seeing on the Hallmark Channel
- 9:29Speaker 1: website going into it right now, I like it. Oh,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I haven't seen that angle. I'd only seen the top half.
- 9:37Speaker 1: When he's not so sure about the fashion, I'm not
- 9:39Speaker 1: so sure about the Fashion. But what movie was Peter
- 9:42Speaker 1: Port recently in. I remember people were so excited that
- 9:45Speaker 1: he was back to Hallmark. Peter Port was recently in
- 9:49Speaker 1: the last movie he was in was Notes of Autumn.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Oh okay, but when he came back, people were really
- 9:53Speaker 1: excited for that. He has been recently on Days of
- 9:57Speaker 1: Our Lives as Dimitri von Leuischner. Oh okay, what are
- 10:00Speaker 1: your Are you excited for this one? I love the
- 10:03Speaker 1: idea of a heist. I'm excited about that. Make it fun,
- 10:06Speaker 1: make it like mistletoe murders adjacent the fashion. It will
- 10:10Speaker 1: at least give us something to talk about. The key
- 10:15Speaker 1: here is going to be walking the line between fun
- 10:19Speaker 1: and hijinks. That is so true, Like I don't want
- 10:24Speaker 1: like Tiptoe cartoon, Oh investigators, like yeah, pink Panther, Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 1: yeah yeah yeah ye I hear I hear you. We'll
- 10:35Speaker 1: just have to wait and see. Let's see Grabbing of
- 10:38Speaker 1: the month. We have a Castle of our Own on Saturday,
- 10:40Speaker 1: June twenty seventh. This stars Brennan Elliott and Erica Sarah.
- 10:45Speaker 1: An architect finds unexpected love and joy through a sand
- 10:48Speaker 1: castle contest on a castle estate. What you might have
- 10:53Speaker 1: lost me at Castle Estate. I did look at the
- 10:57Speaker 1: pictures of this and I was like, oh, it's sand castles.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I could get did that? I thought it was a
- 11:02Speaker 1: royal movie, so I'm glad it's not. I don't this
- 11:08Speaker 1: is a different synopsis says when an overworked architect takes
- 11:11Speaker 1: an unexpected summer trip, a sand castle contest and a
- 11:15Speaker 1: contractor help her reconnect with her daughter, rediscovered joy and
- 11:20Speaker 1: find love she never saw coming. That sounds like a
- 11:24Speaker 1: way better synopsis. I agree. Let's talk this cast. Brennan
- 11:29Speaker 1: Elliott has been out of the game for a minute
- 11:33Speaker 1: because his wife passed right, and I know a lot
- 11:37Speaker 1: of people are going to be very happy to have
- 11:40Speaker 1: him back. Yeah, I'm pleased he's back. He's also in
- 11:44Speaker 1: post production on a movie called Joy of Christmas, but
- 11:47Speaker 1: none of the players listed are Hallmark adjacent. His last
- 11:51Speaker 1: Hamemark movie was His and Hers with Lacy Shubert. Before that,
- 11:53Speaker 1: it was Miss Christmas Comes to Town in twenty twenty three,
- 11:57Speaker 1: So it has been a minute since we've had him
- 11:59Speaker 1: on our screen. He's been in one episode of nine
- 12:01Speaker 1: to one one oh this year, So Brennan's back. Erica
- 12:05Speaker 1: Sarah I really like Erica Sarah. I enjoy her too,
- 12:09Speaker 1: Mystery on Mistletoe Lane. Then she was in that movie
- 12:13Speaker 1: with her daughter dancing something about dancing dancing in the snow. Yes,
- 12:18Speaker 1: she was in a Dance in the Snow with Mark Ganime.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I love her voice. She has that like real raspy quality.
- 12:25Speaker 1: But I also really like her as a mom, Like
- 12:27Speaker 1: I thought she was great in that mom role in
- 12:30Speaker 1: a Dance in the Snow. So I'm interested in this
- 12:34Speaker 1: pairing me too. What do you think about the sand
- 12:36Speaker 1: castle element? I kind of like it. I do too.
- 12:39Speaker 1: My concern is are we going to get like lots
- 12:42Speaker 1: of Have you ever been to like the sand castle
- 12:44Speaker 1: competitions here? No? But you know we go down to
- 12:48Speaker 1: Baboa Island a lot and there's always one that's built
- 12:51Speaker 1: really nicely too. Well, I'm talking about how it's always
- 12:55Speaker 1: at that one street. Yes, because you can pay someone
- 12:57Speaker 1: to do it. Did you know that? Oh? No, I
- 12:59Speaker 1: had no idea. There's one. There's a sand castle artist
- 13:02Speaker 1: that'll do like a happy birthday or happy anniversary or
- 13:04Speaker 1: congratulations like sand castle. I know a friend of my
- 13:08Speaker 1: parents that did it. I think it was like a
- 13:09Speaker 1: happy retirement or something in this spot, which is very cool.
- 13:12Speaker 1: But there's also in Coronadal Mar they do a sand
- 13:15Speaker 1: castle competition. I haven't been in years, but it's incredible
- 13:19Speaker 1: what they can do. And I it's one of those
- 13:22Speaker 1: I was like, we should do this, we could totally
- 13:23Speaker 1: how hard get it be right when you're walking, like
- 13:25Speaker 1: we should we should participate next year. But my CONCERNI
- 13:28Speaker 1: is we're going to get maybe lots of like sand
- 13:30Speaker 1: castle b roll Oh yeah, yeah, I know, look at this.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I want to see them. I want to see the
- 13:35Speaker 1: process of building a cool sand castle. Yeah, that could
- 13:37Speaker 1: be very cool. Also, you know who wrote this? I
- 13:41Speaker 1: saw Nina Wineman Aye, and Nino Wineman is behind a
- 13:46Speaker 1: lot of our faves, most recently A Carol for Two,
- 13:49Speaker 1: Haunted Wedding, All's Fair and Love and Majong Fi. The
- 13:53Speaker 1: sixty third annual Newport Beach sand Castle Contest is September
- 13:58Speaker 1: twenty Oh that's twenty twenty five. Never mind it was September,
- 14:01Speaker 1: what twentieth, September twenty eighth last year. It's in September anyway, Okay, yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 1: when the beach gets slightly less craped at it. I'm excited.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I'm excited about this one. Actually, I think it might
- 14:13Speaker 1: be like a nice family movie. Yeah, you know what
- 14:16Speaker 1: I mean, it's given cozy vibes. It's gonna hit me
- 14:19Speaker 1: right in that, like the you know that my kids
- 14:23Speaker 1: leaving me feels. Yeah. Yeah, especially heading right into Christmas
- 14:28Speaker 1: in July, which we don't have any information about yet.
- 14:30Speaker 1: At this point, my husband actually was asking, has Hallmark
- 14:33Speaker 1: put out their Christmas in July? Is? Oh my gosh,
- 14:35Speaker 1: the man only wants to watch Hallmark Christmas movies. Although,
- 14:39Speaker 1: do you want to watch this movie with me? He goes,
- 14:41Speaker 1: is it foller Christmas? I go, it's April. It's April anyway,
- 14:46Speaker 1: it's Majong baby, that's what it's about. I'm sure. He
- 14:50Speaker 1: was like, absolutely not. My social media feeds have been
- 14:53Speaker 1: taken over with Majong content because you're a play at now.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I went to one class. Yeah, but do you feel
- 14:58Speaker 1: like you could play?
- 14:59Speaker 2: No?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Oh okay, no, I need to practice online. Oh I
- 15:03Speaker 1: love that. Yeah, practice online, I could do that. Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 1: they gave us a website to practice fun. Should we
- 15:11Speaker 1: do a Oh you want to rate these? Rank them?
- 15:13Speaker 1: Rank them? Let's rank them. Hold on, let me think
- 15:16Speaker 1: first before i'm influenced by yours. It's the criteria here,
- 15:19Speaker 1: like of what I'm most excited about or what I
- 15:21Speaker 1: think is going to be the best, I think it
- 15:23Speaker 1: should be the best, which which we should rank them
- 15:26Speaker 1: to see which ones we think are going to be
- 15:28Speaker 1: the best. Isn't that the same thing? Like, wouldn't you
- 15:30Speaker 1: be excited about the movie that you think is going
- 15:32Speaker 1: to be the best? I guess, so, you know, it's
- 15:35Speaker 1: interesting I just said that, but I actually think the
- 15:38Speaker 1: movie I think is going to be the best is
- 15:41Speaker 1: not the movie I'm most excited about. I'm ranking them
- 15:44Speaker 1: on the ones that I think will be the best.
- 15:47Speaker 1: And what's the What does that mean? The best the
- 15:50Speaker 1: fans are going to be most excited about, or that
- 15:53Speaker 1: we're most excited about, not excited, not anticipating, Okay, but
- 15:57Speaker 1: we think are going to be good movies based on
- 16:00Speaker 1: our personal criteria. Yes, okay, let's hear. I have my ranking.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I wrote it down so I cannot be influenced. Tell
- 16:06Speaker 1: me yours. My number one is a Castle of our own, okay.
- 16:09Speaker 1: A number two the Greek Isle okay, Number three Texas
- 16:15Speaker 1: Tuesdem Wow. And then number four the Love Heist. I
- 16:20Speaker 1: you put it in my head that it might be
- 16:22Speaker 1: hygiene c like ping Panther, and I don't want that.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I have the Inspector Gadget theme song in my head.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Oh my order is number one, the Love Heist, number two,
- 16:34Speaker 1: the Greek Isle, number three, A Castle of our Own
- 16:38Speaker 1: number four, the Texas Tuestem. I will say, though I
- 16:43Speaker 1: kind of could have done like a three way tie
- 16:45Speaker 1: for second place in this one. You think The Love
- 16:47Speaker 1: Heist is going to be like the Movie of the Summer.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I think Lindsay Fonseca can deliver the magic of Lemon
- 16:53Speaker 1: drops baby for real. That was like one of my faves.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I know. We don't have a lot of about any
- 17:00Speaker 1: of these. Here's what I like. None of them read
- 17:03Speaker 1: as like acquisition, acquisition, acquisition. Yeah, so that's fun. We
- 17:09Speaker 1: will find out. We will be here probably reviewing them all.
- 17:11Speaker 1: All right. Thank you for listening to this episode of
