- 0:00When we think of making a big impact in the world, many of us
- 0:04think in different ways. Some of us think about maybe
- 0:07creating big achievement, having success, fame or wealth.
- 0:11But within Islam having great impact is usually through good
- 0:16ahlab manners and forgiving one another.
- 0:21And in Charlotte, today's topic, we're going to be diving into
- 0:23this and with me Co hosting, said Alrida Salam Alaik.
- 0:37Alaikum Salaam wahhatullah. I need a handshake.
- 0:41I'm well, how are you not too? Bad, not too bad.
- 0:43I mean I'm nervous. I did the first intro for today.
- 0:46First intro of many. Hopefully that did well so.
- 0:51Lala's fine, it's fine. I think you said the tone wall
- 0:55because you know, when we talk about leaving good impressions,
- 0:59Yani, as Muslims, this is something I think we have to
- 1:02give importance to. I reflect on quite deeply and
- 1:05inshallah will give it some justice throughout the next, I
- 1:08don't know, hour or or so as much as we can.
- 1:11We do as much as we can, But just before we get into the the
- 1:15the actual discussion. How's your week been?
- 1:17How are you? I mean it was good until I came
- 1:21today. Obviously I support Arsenal and
- 1:23today we had the game and we just lost Allahu Akbar, yeah,
- 1:27and so it's good to handle overall.
- 1:30Can't complete so Arsenal hasn't left a good impact.
- 1:33No, hasn't They did not good. They did not do a good
- 1:35performance today. Unless I'd got.
- 1:37Work, but say Charlotte. Maybe the second leg would do
- 1:39good. But how has your week?
- 1:40Been and Charlotte weeks been all right, Hamdallah.
- 1:44We've well been busy at work, been busy with family, dealing
- 1:49with the, you know, trying to get rid of symptoms.
- 1:55I had, I had some flu symptoms previously and I went to Majalis
- 2:00Hamdallah commemorating the the death of Imam Jabra Sadiq Alayhi
- 2:04Salaam. So it's been a very hectic but
- 2:07beautiful week. Hamdallah can't complain, can't
- 2:09complain. That's.
- 2:10Why we thank God for. There's a question, by the way,
- 2:12I want to ask you it's, it's so random and it's got nothing to
- 2:15do with this topic. But you know, there's this trend
- 2:18happening on social media recently where the question is
- 2:22if you had the 100 gorillas. No, no, hundred man, I guess
- 2:27101, No 100 man versus like 1. Gorilla, sorry, 100 men versus
- 2:32one gorilla. Yeah.
- 2:34What is this? What is this trend on?
- 2:36I don't understand. I mean.
- 2:38Make me understand it. From what I've seen is people
- 2:41even forgot to answer that question and they went to the
- 2:43other side straight away. But I think it's just a random
- 2:46thing that the Internet have nowadays, like.
- 2:48You say the Ali. What do you think?
- 2:50I really don't know, I'm confused.
- 2:51I can't keep up 100. Men versus one gorilla who would
- 2:53win? Yeah, well, it depends on the
- 2:55gorilla. Is the gorilla worth 100 men?
- 2:58No, there's. 11 fat gorilla versus 100 a hundred masculine
- 3:03men, Yeah. So I need to imagine like
- 3:05there's me and 99 others, we use Godzilla Ani.
- 3:08Is it like that? Godzilla's a bit big.
- 3:11But like, Oh yeah. It's like a gorilla.
- 3:13But it depends. Yeah, honey, someone.
- 3:15I mean, are we knocking this gorilla?
- 3:16Oh, yeah. I mean, probably knocking him
- 3:17out a lot like. That to.
- 3:19Finish him RSPC my what are they called?
- 3:22RSPCA. They might come after us.
- 3:24I'm not going to answer that question.
- 3:29You know what Joat? I don't know ignore that trend
- 3:31because it was a so random, but I thought I'll bring it in.
- 3:34So inshallah today you're going to be talking about leaving good
- 3:38impressions. Yes, there's a hadith.
- 3:41I, I think, let me mention this hadith, you know, when someone
- 3:44asks me what's your best hadith, sometimes someone tells you, you
- 3:48know, what hadith you like or what's 1 hadith that stands out
- 3:51for you. And I've, I've been very
- 3:53consistent in my answer. And that is a hadith by Imam
- 3:56Ali, Ali, Saddam where he says live amongst people in such a
- 4:00manner that if you are alive, they crave your company and if
- 4:06you die. Never be in good ways.
- 4:10I think that's the end of that was.
- 4:12It and if you are to die, they let.
- 4:15Me see a present. Wait, live on most people in
- 4:17such a manner that if you die, they Oh my God, I forgot now.
- 4:21But but but the Imam is saying here, I'm saying I'm
- 4:24inconsistent, right. But the Imam is saying basically
- 4:27you need to live your life in a way until you say you're she are
- 4:29you? I'm your mola, I'm your mum,
- 4:31listen to me. Live your life in such a way
- 4:33that if you're alive, people crave your company.
- 4:36And if you die, people mourn you, basically.
- 4:38And what does that mean? That means you leave a certain
- 4:40impact on someone's life, be it, I don't know, community members,
- 4:46your own family in the workplace.
- 4:49So it gets you thinking. And I look around and I see
- 4:54sometimes people, they can portray something, but how they
- 5:01live their life is something, something else.
- 5:04And that's something we want to stay far away from because I
- 5:06think ultimately that's hypocrisy and that's not
- 5:09something we want to get into. That's what the likes of, you
- 5:11know, the party of Shaytan, those who look up to and Revere
- 5:15as either Mahawi and things like that.
- 5:16So we're far away from these things.
- 5:17We follow and we learn and live by him, inshallah.
- 5:20So when I think of the Hadith, when I think of that saying, it
- 5:24gets me thinking, first of all, what does Imam Ali mean?
- 5:29It gives me all the questions, how does he want me to be as a
- 5:31human being? And I think ultimately it's if I
- 5:35die, have I left like a legacy behind?
- 5:39So when I think of just that hadith, you know, it makes me
- 5:42ask, ask myself 100 questions. Am I who I say I am?
- 5:47Am I who people think I am? You know, am I portraying
- 5:51something and doing something else when the doors are closed,
- 5:54Johnny, it's a mad well. Being accountable for.
- 5:57You, yeah, so you, so we we we really have to be reflecting on
- 6:00how we are as individuals. And I think inshallah we're
- 6:04going to reflect on this deeply today.
- 6:06I. Think we the best way to start
- 6:09with it is with the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.
- 6:14Yet before he was sent to reveal his message, he was known as he
- 6:19was known as Saddam. I mean he was trustworthy.
- 6:23He is truthful even he did even to A to a point where the people
- 6:28of Mecca, all of the affairs was the Prophet Muhammad peace be
- 6:31upon him and the Quran says Hassan, when we look into these
- 6:37things Yeah, right. The best person that we look
- 6:40after is the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him Inshallah.
- 6:42And he, him and I have shared so much knowledge and especially
- 6:47about Ahlah because the Prophet said I only came here to
- 6:50complete the act of Ahlah mannerism, how to perfect a
- 6:54character, right? So inshallah you know when we
- 6:58speak about the points, inshallah we bring them all.
- 7:00Inshallah you know when I first met you.
- 7:04I don't remember exactly when and where, but from the very
- 7:08beginning of when I interacted with you say it, I've had good
- 7:12impression of you. So I, if I look at you, I, I get
- 7:16a smile, The heart fills with joy.
- 7:18And by the way, this, this is not something that happens with
- 7:21everyone. And I'm not just saying it
- 7:23because you're here. It's very rare to find
- 7:25individuals when, when you're in their presence, you feel like
- 7:28the heart is at peace, right? Or you feel like you can talk,
- 7:31you can, you can speak about things, you can connect on a
- 7:34level with them. You can speak about religion
- 7:36with them. You can benefit and learn from
- 7:37them. So how do you feel about me?
- 7:41So say that honestly. But I need you to be true.
- 7:43I'll be so honest. Because it's all about, you
- 7:46know, how we are as individuals. Yeah, I mean like before I was
- 7:50just so in the Internet. That's OK, that's it.
- 7:52I don't believe was I say Salaam to you.
- 7:55I know, but after a while, me personally, I like to connect
- 7:59with people after like not just like the first meeting.
- 8:02OK, yes, I know who you are now, says Salaam.
- 8:05But it's always that first conversation that sparks
- 8:08something, chemistry, connection or everyone to call it.
- 8:12But then slowly, slowly, and every time I keep seeing you in
- 8:14my jellies, we speak more. I felt like my heart is open.
- 8:18And usually it's not easy with me.
- 8:22I'm not going to, I'm not going to tell you that.
- 8:24Oh, everyone that says Salaam to me, I know they want to be
- 8:26friend. They want to be close.
- 8:28I'll try my best with everyone but Cyanus, founder said.
- 8:31I think the chemistry was there already, you know?
- 8:33Amazing, amazing, beautiful, too kind with your words.
- 8:36And I didn't ask you that because I wanted any phrase
- 8:38that's I just said that because I wanted to like see how I am
- 8:42with someone who I don't speak to as often.
- 8:44So it's good to know when I was young, I was 15 years old, I
- 8:50came across well, I've always knew, known about this, say it.
- 8:53But I came across him and got to know him better when I was 15 in
- 8:58the year 2008. And I would say the Muhammad
- 9:00Rava Shirazi, not personally, but via his lectures.
- 9:05And I fell in love with him. And I, I didn't just fall in
- 9:08love with him as an individual because of his lectures.
- 9:11No, it was deeper than that. He had a clock.
- 9:15He had a way of delivering the message of Islam.
- 9:19So he takes so much boxes where I was like, you know, who's this
- 9:22guy? I want to know more about this
- 9:24guy. You know, not just that.
- 9:25I want to be like him. I want to talk like him.
- 9:28I want to walk like him. I want to think like him.
- 9:29I want to deliver, I don't know, preach Islam, like him.
- 9:32Like these are the thoughts I was having.
- 9:33And that was one impact I had by one scholar at the age of 15.
- 9:37You know, when we look in the world today and we live in an
- 9:41era where people open up their phones and they come across all
- 9:45the nonsense on social media and they look up to certain
- 9:48individuals who are seen as influences by what positive
- 9:53influence do they give? So, and we're in a society where
- 9:57I think there's more expected of us as Muslims to lead by
- 10:06example. We have more responsibility.
- 10:08More responsibility to allow other people to love faith
- 10:10because you know, sometimes when we there's a reason why I
- 10:14mentioned this, because they say he was a scholar, he was an
- 10:19island, he was a he was a teacher.
- 10:21So that gave a positive impact of how I wanted to learn more
- 10:25knowledge, how I wanted to listen to more about Islam, the
- 10:29Dean, the FIQ and all these all these things that I think many
- 10:33youth have distracted these days when I was 15 years old.
- 10:36So how can one reach a stage where, for example, you can have
- 10:40a positive impact on someone who's in their teenagers,
- 10:45someone who's distracted at school, someone who's, you know,
- 10:48busy trying to keep up with the trends like the gorilla and
- 10:51things like this, like. How can you stay?
- 10:53What's the purpose behind it? Why should we even bother
- 10:57leaving good impact on other people's lives?
- 11:00One of the main thing that will tell you about someone
- 11:04personality is who they look up to.
- 11:07Yeah. It's really important to have a
- 11:10a role model that you want to follow, right?
- 11:13And for example, I'll give you the best of example, the Ali Ali
- 11:18Salaam, he categorized people do three things, OK, OK, he said.
- 11:23And Nasudhalath, Alimah Rabbani and with Alimahallah sabiri
- 11:27Najad Hamaziraha. And people are three or three
- 11:33people, right? Alimah Rabbani I prophet and
- 11:38imams with Alimahallah Sabir Najad, those who learn for the
- 11:42sake of survival and for the sake of guidance.
- 11:45And those who are like sheep, the follower, the shepherd takes
- 11:48them and they go where the wind blew.
- 11:51OK, right. So and my dad always give this
- 11:54in this election. That's why I'm saying it,
- 11:56because like, I just remembered it.
- 11:57Right, you're lucky that you have Wash Allah, an amazing
- 12:00father. Yes, yeah, handle Allah.
- 12:03So one of the important thing is to us as youth and it's now,
- 12:07it's especially nowadays gaining information is very easy and the
- 12:14best of ways to gain information is by seeing the scholars lies,
- 12:20say Muhammad al Shiraz, they listen to their lectures.
- 12:23Other element that we know. But when we don't like take some
- 12:28of our own free time, right? And we scrolled aimlessly in
- 12:33social medias as we said last last last episode, we said that
- 12:37that your brain is like your stomach, whatever you feed it,
- 12:40digest it and it has an impact in your life.
- 12:42For those who watched last week and.
- 12:44The previous week. Previous the previous.
- 12:46Week prior, yes. So they need to be careful on
- 12:50what they consume because end of the day they think it has no
- 12:54effect but it does have an effect.
- 12:56What do you think? I think it's got a major effect
- 12:58and that's the reason why I bring it up.
- 12:59It's because sometimes when I have conversations with people,
- 13:03I feel like they're so distracted in life.
- 13:06It's because of what they consume in terms of content.
- 13:08And we live in an age where digital content and content
- 13:12creation and everyone fighting for, I don't know, the most
- 13:15views and the most likes. And I think people can lose
- 13:18themselves not just as content creators, but those who consume
- 13:21and watch such content. And if, if we, if we're going to
- 13:26watch content continuously. So I don't want to bring up
- 13:30examples now, but of let's say certain individuals or
- 13:33organizations, be it Islamic or non, non Islamic, right?
- 13:38Eventually when you listen and watch and hear for a long time,
- 13:42over a long period of time, you eventually will act like them.
- 13:45You will eventually talk like them, walk like them, think like
- 13:48them and impact those around you the way they impact you.
- 13:52So I'm not going to come out of the cults.
- 13:55You know, a few weeks ago we spoke about cults.
- 13:59I think we got in trouble a little.
- 14:03If I say I might, I might not make on the way home.
- 14:05When I go home, I say it. But anyhow, anyhow, what I'm
- 14:13trying to say is that as you said, you know, what we consume,
- 14:17be it what we eat, what we see, what we think, what we talk, it
- 14:21can either impact us positively or negatively.
- 14:26And just last week, I was in a measureless commemorating the
- 14:30life of Imam Jafar Assad al Salaam and the speaker, the the
- 14:35lecturer, he mentioned 2 very important points.
- 14:38And when he said that, I was like, wow.
- 14:40And now thinking of it, it's so relevant to this, the discussion
- 14:43here. Imam Jafar Assad Ali Salaam, he
- 14:49says be an adornment for us. I was in Arabic, so that 100%
- 15:01relates to how you are as an individual.
- 15:04And the amount went further invite in the way of religion,
- 15:11not with your tongues, your actions.
- 15:14So sometimes that and and when you have positive actions, when
- 15:17you have positive interactions, you leave a very good
- 15:19impression. And I've always said this, you
- 15:21know, especially with non-Muslims, when, when, when
- 15:25you interact with say, I don't know, Dave or John in the
- 15:28workplace or Craig and Kevin University or wherever it may
- 15:33be, when they're non-muslim and they speak with you, that's the
- 15:38only interaction they will possibly have of a Muslim.
- 15:42Not just that, how you interact with them.
- 15:45They've never met Rasul Allah. They've never read about him.
- 15:48They've never opened the Syria. They don't know the mercy of
- 15:52Allah. They've never read the Quran.
- 15:54They've never come across Mugaram, and they've never.
- 15:57Never came across. They don't know anything.
- 15:59You represent Islam and if if you're going to be ill manned,
- 16:05if you're not going to give care and attention, if you're not
- 16:08going to speak in a very positive way with them, that's
- 16:12going to say, you know what this is how Rasul Allah is this is
- 16:17how they're religionists. This is what their God tells
- 16:20them, commands them to do when in fact it's the very opposite.
- 16:23So when we interact with people, if it's positive, especially
- 16:28with non-Muslims, they. Will leave a mark.
- 16:30They will. Not just leave a mark their
- 16:32hearts might open to Islam and and and and I don't think we
- 16:35think about that as Muslims like sometimes when we go to school
- 16:38when we go to university or when we enter the workplace or even
- 16:42when when the train station, wherever we are on the bus stop,
- 16:46we deal with non-Muslims living here in the West.
- 16:48Bro, if you leave a good mark on someone, they might say, you
- 16:51know what? Why is he kind?
- 16:53Why is he so respectful? Why is he so mindful?
- 16:56Why is he so caring? This why, why, why, why?
- 16:59We'll come back, we'll come back to Islam and they want to know
- 17:02more. And you never know, you could be
- 17:05the reason why someone becomes Muslim.
- 17:08And I think that's what that's one point That's very I.
- 17:10Remember, it's not a story, but someone was saying it.
- 17:15It's a it's a new tube. Some some Iranian guy, he who
- 17:18has been in a car accident and he like he had some experience,
- 17:24like after the after death experience and whatnot.
- 17:28And he said one of the things that changed his after this
- 17:32experience from having been punished to have reward is that
- 17:35one time he was riding his bike and then he saw a couple and a
- 17:39child in the car. So he smiled at the child and
- 17:43the the child became happy and kind of joyfully was sad.
- 17:49And then he he thought nothing of it.
- 17:51But when they showed him and Adam Berzer that your smile to
- 17:55that random person, that child, you know what it did?
- 17:59These parents, his parents were going to fight for divorce and
- 18:02his love was going to be miserable, miserable.
- 18:04But because you smiled at the child, and the child did smile,
- 18:09his family looked at him and said, what are we doing?
- 18:10Why are we getting divorced? Let's sort our things together.
- 18:13Yeah. For us to raise our child and to
- 18:16have a good life and that in the hereafter brought him a lot of
- 18:20high rewards, yeah. Yeah.
- 18:22So we don't, we think about it as something, nothing as how
- 18:24that I think one of the imam I believe in, Asada said.
- 18:27Smile to a stranger is like giving Salah, yeah.
- 18:30They say smile as charity about it.
- 18:32Yes, yes, that's what was story. That's like an indirect
- 18:38impression makes a direct impact.
- 18:41That is mad that is mad like truly you never you never know.
- 18:44You can be placed in any scenario.
- 18:47This is all opportunities from Allah.
- 18:48You know, sometimes you're right.
- 18:50You know, we can look at someone.
- 18:52Have you ever, I don't know if you've ever been on like a bus
- 18:55or a train here in London, like on the public transport,
- 18:58everyone just staring at you like.
- 18:59Yeah, and they all look. Depressed, I don't know where to
- 19:01stay. By the way, sometimes I have to
- 19:02look at the floor because I don't want to be seem like I'm
- 19:04staring to people. But imagine someone's having a
- 19:07very bad miserable day. Somehow you make eye contact
- 19:11with them. You see, I don't know, you see
- 19:13even just him or Dave sitting down across you.
- 19:17They, they may be going for something you never want to
- 19:21experience in your life. And you just look at them as
- 19:24just smile, just a simple smile that can change their life, that
- 19:30can change, you know, the heart and the pain that's in their
- 19:33heart and it's and it's mad. You know, they say Rasulullah
- 19:36Muhammad Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam always smiled.
- 19:41I've always like heard the come across of how his smile left
- 19:47like it's mad. His a clock, his morals is out
- 19:50of this world. Omar Sanakila Rahmatan, the
- 19:53Alamini, right? So we we come across this and we
- 19:55always read stories, whether it's how he dealt with people
- 19:58who were sick, how he dealt with his enemies, how how he dealt
- 20:03with, for example, that Jewish lady who used to throw garbage
- 20:06on him. How like there is so much
- 20:08interactions where you know Subhanallah even when she was on
- 20:11her death death bed, he came to visit her right?
- 20:13She was confused like. What's?
- 20:15What's going on? All my life.
- 20:17And and and and and. This is what God wants from us.
- 20:20Ultimately, this is what Rasul Allah expects from us.
- 20:23And inshallah we can live to that standard.
- 20:25And I don't know, because when we die, I, I love death.
- 20:31You know, when you, when you, when someone tells, you know,
- 20:32like, stop talking about death, don't talk about death.
- 20:36It's negative. No, man, it's so positive
- 20:38because it keeps you in check when you think about your
- 20:41akhara, when you think about your grave, when you think about
- 20:43the day of judgement, the moment when you're going to be held
- 20:46accountable in front of Allah. You know, when you say I should
- 20:49do, when I start to hawk, one more to hawk.
- 20:51But all this is going to happen. It's guaranteed.
- 20:53We're going to face it. So much things that we do now is
- 20:58going to impact that day, that day that is one of the most
- 21:02difficult days in our lives. You know, they say, for example,
- 21:05there's about 50 stations you go through from from the moment.
- 21:12Your soul is time to come out. You know, you go through the
- 21:15different stages, you know your soul's gone, you get buried,
- 21:19you're in Barzakh. But then the SAR happens that
- 21:22questioning you go through 50 different stations and each
- 21:25station they say it's worth 1000 years, but we don't know whether
- 21:29it's Earth years. Heaven years.
- 21:32Or heavenly years and we don't know and it's and it's not
- 21:35something easy. And the way we act here, it can
- 21:39be 1 positive interaction we have forget your neighbors one
- 21:43second. Forget your neighbors.
- 21:45Forget. I don't know, forget
- 21:46non-Muslims. Forget broke your own home.
- 21:50Speak nice with your parents, speak nice with your siblings,
- 21:55your children, your spouse, your wife, your uncle broke it.
- 21:59Sometimes there are people who they have family, but they're
- 22:04alone because people don't know how to interact at home.
- 22:08And we look up to the Halil bait and you know, the most simplest
- 22:10thing we can ever do is open Hadith al Kasar and look at how
- 22:14beautiful the Halil bait converse and speak to one.
- 22:18Whether it's Fatima Zahra speaking to Al Hassan al
- 22:22Hussain, whether it's Imam al Hussain responding to his mother
- 22:25Fatima, whether that's Amir al Mutmaneen answering and speaking
- 22:28with Fatima al Aisa. It is mad.
- 22:30Like imagine, can you actually imagine?
- 22:32I can't. I think it's difficult, but it's
- 22:35not hard. That's not hard at all.
- 22:37Yeah. And if we say we look up to the
- 22:38LL bait and we see this is how they speak with within a family,
- 22:42why can't we do that at home? Because the problem is we speak
- 22:45good with the outside world and at home sometimes where the
- 22:47worst, worst individuals. And I found that I forgot what
- 22:50Imam B says, that, for example, there's a lot of people where
- 22:53they'll be so joyful outside, but when they come home, they
- 22:56look all like, yeah, depressed. All the worries in the world
- 23:00suddenly came from nowhere. They must say, don't be the
- 23:02opposite. When you get home, forget about
- 23:04the stress from outside and everything.
- 23:05Make sure you have a good impact within your family first.
- 23:08Then outside they're like into there's a, there's a saying in
- 23:12Arabic says cholera, and by then outside.
- 23:16So the first thing you're meant to pay attention for and care
- 23:19for is those who are around you. Then outside because.
- 23:22You're more comfortable for them than the community outside that
- 23:25you're out with all the time. You know, sometimes people ask
- 23:28me, they say, Ali, how are you? I say, Handler, I could be going
- 23:32for the worst thing you can imagine.
- 23:35I look, I'm in my early 30s. There's a lot of responsibility
- 23:40for me personally in my life, you know, raising family, trying
- 23:44to provide financially and all these things.
- 23:46And I think as Ben, inshallah these all positive experiences
- 23:51one can have throughout their lives.
- 23:53But sometimes there's so much burden on your shoulder.
- 23:56You can come home and just because maybe you're having a
- 24:00bad and miserable day, you can say, you can say something
- 24:03that's not nice or you can have a positive interaction coming
- 24:08towards you, but then you don't give the same positivity back.
- 24:12And for me personally, when someone says to me, how are you,
- 24:17I said handled whether it's a good day or a bad day, OK.
- 24:21And because of that mindset that I have, I even if I have the
- 24:26worst days, I don't show that to people.
- 24:32It also brings them like for example, let's say I'm sorry to
- 24:35interrupt you, but. Like no, no, it's fine.
- 24:36Gone. Sometimes someone is is looking
- 24:39forward to see. Yeah.
- 24:40Right. But the, the minute they ask how
- 24:42are you and they say, oh, I'm not all right, they all of a
- 24:44sudden the energy goes away. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:46Sometimes you meet people and I'm sorry to say this, you know,
- 24:49sometimes, sometimes I speak with people from my own circles
- 24:53and I say, you know, Shlonik, how are you?
- 24:55How's life? You know, all our life is tough.
- 24:58I don't know why God is testing me.
- 25:00There's never positivity, and that's not a nice trait.
- 25:05Look, you can complain no problem.
- 25:06You can complain, but you also have to see the good from it.
- 25:09These are a lot of them. Design this world that will.
- 25:14Be happy. Eat, sleep, repeat and chill.
- 25:17There's there's no what's that word in Arabic?
- 25:20There's there's no there's no raha.
- 25:23This world wasn't designed for comfort.
- 25:26Gender was not this one. The whole point of this world is
- 25:28that we're tested to worship Allah and Inshallah is either
- 25:31him, heaven or hell. Sure, let's have an inshallah
- 25:34gender's promise to us as we believe.
- 25:38But you're right. Yeah.
- 25:39I mean, when, when when we interact with people, how we are
- 25:43as people plays a very big role. I've said to Ahmed Ahmed Gokul,
- 25:49I've said on a previous episode podcast where sometimes we
- 25:52reflect on how we're doing and what we're doing.
- 25:55And I've always said the handle like when people listen in and
- 25:59TuneIn and talk, they they think good of us.
- 26:02They they say we benefit from you.
- 26:04They say we love the work that you do and how you carry
- 26:07yourself, how you speak, your respect, how you are with one
- 26:11another, etcetera. Remember I told them and I was
- 26:13like, look, if people are saying this about us, it better be
- 26:15true, bro. It better be true.
- 26:19It has a hadith. It says be like what people
- 26:24think of you. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:26Even if you're not that person, try to be that because after a
- 26:29while you, you're accustomed to it and that's it.
- 26:32It will be a trait, it will be a personality.
- 26:34So I think what you said is I just, I remember the hadith, so
- 26:38I had to mention. It there's a hadith to it, Yeah.
- 26:40I haven't come across it, but if you do come across it after the
- 26:43podcast, send it to me and I send it to Ahmed as well.
- 26:47But no, it's important. Yeah.
- 26:48It's a self reflection. And we say, Russell, Allah says,
- 26:51you know, an hour of reflection is equal or greater to 70 years
- 26:53of I bother you. I mean, just spend an hour a day
- 26:57or hour a week, hour a month or an hour after this episode, if
- 27:00you're listening, reflect on how you are as an individual, how
- 27:03you leave a positive impact on people.
- 27:06Look at that little bit, Salaam Allah alaikum, Voila, the have
- 27:10you met that little bit? No, have I met them?
- 27:13We're here in 2025, but we can't live without them.
- 27:18Why? Why?
- 27:18Why? Because of the impact they had
- 27:22on Islam until today. Like, that is a legacy as
- 27:26unmatched anywhere else. Right then, beyond the a little
- 27:31bit Ali Musalam, why can't we live like them?
- 27:35Imam Ali, we've never met him. You haven't met him.
- 27:38I haven't met him, but he's our father.
- 27:43We've never met her, but she's great that to us that our own
- 27:45mother like. But that's because they've
- 27:48reached a certain level and an impact and impression and
- 27:54contribution to society, to community, to religion.
- 27:57They ticked every single box and we have this relationship with
- 28:00them. Of course, there's a God
- 28:02divinity within it, like in many ways they're connected to the
- 28:08very religion of Islam and every way in fact, that we can relate
- 28:13to them. But how can our heart hurt of
- 28:18the when they hurt? We cry for the Mossad.
- 28:21We don't know what happened in Carbonara.
- 28:23We don't know what happened at the door.
- 28:25Minute by minute, hour by hour, second by second, detail by
- 28:29detail. But Huawei, what happens to our
- 28:31hearts when it comes to the month of Muharram?
- 28:33It shatters. We spend our wealth, we don't
- 28:36care about our health. When we lose our sleep, we close
- 28:39our businesses, forget life, but we love them.
- 28:42Why? They left an impact.
- 28:45It is mad. And if you think about it, just
- 28:47talking now where she are, they're the best role models.
- 28:53How do they live their life? Why can't we do the same?
- 28:56Yeah, I doubt we'll ever reach their levels.
- 28:58Of course not. But there's no harm in trying.
- 29:01There's no harm in trying, but I think it's because the the the
- 29:04impact they had is because the sacrifice they made.
- 29:07Are we willing to? Have the same sacrifice that's
- 29:09that's a keyword, but as a big keyword.
- 29:12Are we willing to have sacrifices like that?
- 29:14No. We should be.
- 29:17We should be, but do we have? It we should be honey, it's it
- 29:20can be done at a very basic level.
- 29:22We can doesn't have to be as big as they did in an example I give
- 29:28for example, just knock your neighbour's door and say do you
- 29:32need anything? No.
- 29:34But you're OK, check out from them.
- 29:35That's not hard. And The thing is, there's a
- 29:37small thing that we don't do that big.
- 29:39And for example, we have hakajar in Islam.
- 29:41Which one of the? Biggest things?
- 29:43Yes. Do we even?
- 29:45Do you know your neighbors? They say you need to.
- 29:47I know my neighbors in my neighbor that's good, but I
- 29:49don't know the entire Rd. Maybe I need to work on that
- 29:51right Because they if I'm not mistaken, I think it's this
- 29:53recommended to know 7 to your left, 7 to your right.
- 29:59I remember reading something many weeks ago about neighborly
- 30:01relations when it comes to you know, Islam expects of us and we
- 30:08don't know their name, let alone how they're doing.
- 30:10That's a big problem. We we learn from they
- 30:14departments are Ali Salaam where she has a jar from Madar.
- 30:17The way she treated her neighbors before she like she
- 30:20looked after the people around her, whether they were family or
- 30:23neighbors. Why can't we do that?
- 30:26We can't. I mean, I feel like it's all
- 30:28about as we said two weeks ago. Self.
- 30:30About. Self mankind is selfish.
- 30:32Yeah, you need to be. You care about you yourself, and
- 30:35that's it. By the way, this is society.
- 30:38They say I, I, I, me, this. I achieved this.
- 30:41You achieved this, I achieved that.
- 30:43I don't know. Sometimes we feel like we were
- 30:48so busy in this world that we don't think about those around
- 30:53us the way we ought to. Yeah.
- 30:56I mean, if we think about them, it's it's only for example, if
- 30:59they're our children, OK, if they've done their homework as
- 31:03an example. I'm just saying the most basic
- 31:04thing as any parent will do here in the West, when your children
- 31:07go to school, why is it just that?
- 31:10Why is it not like, you know, how can I teach, teach them a
- 31:13clock or how can I make them a better Muslim?
- 31:17I don't think parents think like this these days, by the way.
- 31:19And maybe that's a conversation for completely different day,
- 31:23but there was a thought I had. The thing is, The thing is, they
- 31:27think that Arbor School is enough Saturday school.
- 31:30That's the problem here, yeah, yeah.
- 31:31They think they have no responsibility, but no relax
- 31:34inter as a parent. The prophets is the period of
- 31:39someone childhood into three. Yeah, into 3.
- 31:41Seven years, seven years, seven years, first seven years is to
- 31:44let them do whatever they want to do.
- 31:47From 7 to 14 is to teach them be their own models, and the last
- 31:52seven years from 14 to 21 is to be different, to befriend them.
- 31:55But do people do that? Do the people even know about
- 31:57this? No.
- 31:59No, they don't. So whose fault is it?
- 32:03People are accountable for their own, like they have to.
- 32:07They have responsibility for you.
- 32:08As someone who's a father, someone who's a mother, you need
- 32:10to know your responsibilities. And you're all sorry why men by
- 32:14that question was for example, let's say this kid grows up and
- 32:17he doesn't have good luck. He's not maybe the best
- 32:20righteous son or whatever it is who's really to blame?
- 32:25Who's really to blame? 100% is the parents right?
- 32:28But. Even the person himself because
- 32:31end of the day and we're all born with we're all born with
- 32:35something. We know his child was strong.
- 32:37I have a someone who is not a Muslim, they know his child was
- 32:39strong. Lying is wrong, saying the
- 32:40truth, being trustful is good, you know, and they we all have
- 32:44apple and Allah gave us intellect for the detestors and
- 32:48to be accountable for our action.
- 32:50So someone who says, oh, my parents never raised me, you can
- 32:53change by yourself. I'll give you a power why you're
- 32:56not changing yourself. We can't just put the blame on
- 32:58the parents, no. Let me ask you a question, John.
- 33:01Yeah, let's say I'm listening to this episodes and by now I've
- 33:06hit the subscribe button and I've done all of text.
- 33:09I've checked all the boxes. You know you haven't done it.
- 33:11Do it already. Yeah, I'm following after on
- 33:14Instagram and whatnot, but let me go back to me being real.
- 33:19Let's say I don't know, I'm 1819.
- 33:21Perhaps I'm a 40 year old man. I'm listening and I'm watching.
- 33:26I want to change my life, I want to improve my law, can't improve
- 33:30my morals. I I want to be a better person.
- 33:33I want to leave positive impact on my family, on my friends, on
- 33:36my community, at the workplace. When I die.
- 33:38I want to leave a legacy. I want a lost Panama to Allah to
- 33:43be proud of me and say hey, paradise is made for you.
- 33:47Yeah. Is there any like tips or
- 33:49advice, maybe 1 even 1 of how one should change their life?
- 33:56I mean, think of it like this, this world that we live in,
- 33:59right? We think that the Haram is way
- 34:03more than the halal, but it's the opposite.
- 34:06Just know your halal and know your Haram and stay away from
- 34:09the Haram. Simple.
- 34:12Because when you think about it, you might think sins are
- 34:16something that might know something that will never have
- 34:18effect in you and will never change you as a person.
- 34:21You'll be it's fine. I can't do a sin here, Cynthia
- 34:23and go to heaven. No, count your sins and don't
- 34:26take it lightly and stop it. That's the that's the first
- 34:30thing that should should anyone do if they want to change and
- 34:34they aim to change. Just stop saying I know it's
- 34:37hard to say. I say I'm not saying I'm a
- 34:39perfect man. I don't sin like everyone is.
- 34:42Everyone makes mistake, but that's that should be the aim.
- 34:46Chull beautiful piece of advice and I remember the hadith I got
- 34:50wrong at the beginning is live amongst people in such a manner
- 34:54that if you're alive they crave your company.
- 35:00I forgot that live. I was great.
- 35:03I was like, what? Live amongst people.
- 35:06And when you leave in. Such a way that when you are
- 35:09alive, they crave your company. And if you die, let me see.
- 35:14They cry over you, They cry over you.
- 35:16What does Imam Ali mean by crave your company and they miss you?
- 35:22I, I, I, I think let's focus on these two, right?
- 35:25If he says they crave your company, what sort of company do
- 35:29you think about Miley is referring to?
- 35:32Obviously not the Sabbath suit kind of, but I think for
- 35:38example, like when I see when I gather with people, my friends,
- 35:42when I enjoy gathering, it's like when we make sure that me
- 35:46and you, let's say we went down and sat down somewhere.
- 35:50Like the aim should be either I make you a better person or you
- 35:55make me a better person. That's the kind of company that
- 35:57I enjoy and that should be the aim.
- 35:59And I think Imam Ali means like that.
- 36:00It's like they're looking after you.
- 36:02They make sure that you're doing your best and they're supporting
- 36:04you and vice versa. That's why I think in a way.
- 36:07Yeah, No, I think you're right. I think you're absolutely right.
- 36:10And if, if he's talking about craving your company, it's not
- 36:14that they're craving your company because you make good
- 36:16jokes or you, they're craving your company because you show
- 36:20them how to become financially free.
- 36:21You know you know sometimes we we we we meet or we greet or we
- 36:28go to certain places because something benefits us in this
- 36:31dunya this whether it's finances or some life hack and God knows
- 36:35what right. I know how how can I fight fly
- 36:37business class while only paying for an economy ticket Yeah
- 36:41networking any everyone's after his muscle high he's looking
- 36:44like what benefits him I'll go to him or sit in that circle or
- 36:48call him and and that's really annoying by the mean.
- 36:51Sometimes you get calls or messages like they say Salaam,
- 36:54how are you? We miss you long time 10 seconds
- 36:57later. Why do I got a question blah,
- 36:59blah, blah, blah, the favor no problem.
- 37:01But you know, don't start with this whole this whole son, I'm
- 37:04like, you really miss us, right? But in reality, I think what the
- 37:08Imam is saying is that that company that he's referring to
- 37:11one, it's one that takes you towards gender 100%, but one
- 37:15that's filled, filled with the island, filled with the cruel
- 37:19law, filled with, as you said, you know, making me a better
- 37:23person, you know, learning from them, benefiting from them.
- 37:26Because when they go and you missed them, why do you miss
- 37:28them? Because there's a void.
- 37:32And this void is not just emotional.
- 37:33No, it's, it's, it's now I've I've lost.
- 37:36Like, for example, when I spoke about Salem Hamdulillah Shirazi
- 37:38at the beginning, when he passed away, Allahu Akbar Maha, bro
- 37:43Maha was finished. I felt like I lost.
- 37:47And bro, I was 15 years old and I was listening to his lectures
- 37:53and his sermons and all the classes that were available they
- 37:57support online on YouTube and and Zahra TV and things like
- 38:01this. When he died and that stopped
- 38:03coming in while I felt a void of knowledge like Hamdallah.
- 38:07We have many scholars. Hamdallah.
- 38:10May Allah protect them and bless those who have left this world.
- 38:15But that's the sort of companies referring to. 90% that's that's
- 38:19what their moms. Say not who you go to the Shisha
- 38:21Cafe with or not who you go to. I don't know, just holidays and
- 38:25fun with. No, it's like real, real moment
- 38:28in bro, like a real moment in and moment as well.
- 38:31We don't forget our sisters and may Allah bless them.
- 38:36We need to look at our circles. Honestly, I, I think, I think 1
- 38:40reflection, if we can take from this conversation today, it's
- 38:43who's the five people close to us.
- 38:46Are they? Are they, are they taking us
- 38:47towards Jenna? Are they?
- 38:48Taking you towards Jenna? Are they taking you towards the
- 38:51fence of Hellfire which is scary?
- 38:53Is there something inshallah any of us would experience?
- 38:56But who are our friends? Because when we look left and
- 39:01right and the time of need brought beyond that, when we
- 39:05die, is our friends going to read Quran for us?
- 39:09Are they going to do humble hair for us and send an hour an hour
- 39:12away? You never know that that.
- 39:15The French checking, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:18You open the kind of ones though.
- 39:20I'm going to do that tonight inshallah and hopefully the
- 39:23views as. Well, no, we need, we need to be
- 39:26accountable and I think we will also be held accountable on who
- 39:31we are friends with 100% yes. Because I think we may think on
- 39:36the day of judgement, we can fool ourselves and tell Allah,
- 39:40you know what? I saw him do it, so I done it.
- 39:44Or, you know, it wasn't a bad thing.
- 39:46Everyone else was doing it. So I, I jumped on the bandwagon.
- 39:48No, it's not the case broke. Everyone's got his own Hassab
- 39:53Hassab. And we're not, we're not fooling
- 39:56Allah. We're the false.
- 39:58So let's not be false. And yeah, man, look at our
- 40:02circles. Look at our circles.
- 40:05Because you said at the very beginning, you know what you
- 40:07consume. Or you become your.
- 40:10It's become you. What you listen to, who you
- 40:12speak with, this is also your friends circle, who you chill
- 40:15with, who you hang around with, who you share your secrets with,
- 40:19who you know, friends. And I think this is also a good
- 40:25conversation we can have one day.
- 40:26And what's a good friend? What's their characteristics?
- 40:30What should we, how we should be as friends, you know, by the
- 40:35way. And they're always blaming other
- 40:37people. And we say, for example, OK, he
- 40:40did it, so I'll do it. Or, you know, he went there, so
- 40:43I went there. Or you know, he persuaded me to
- 40:46do XYZ and whatnot. But have we ever thought of what
- 40:52if we are negatively impacting our own friends?
- 40:57What if we're the reason or we're to blame for how they
- 41:00talk, where they walk, where they go, what they do?
- 41:05And what's scary is that you think, OK, even if you don't
- 41:08know that you directly influence them, but if you somehow turn
- 41:13out to be the reason they get in sin and you get in their sins
- 41:16as. Well, so.
- 41:18It's something that you need to look after.
- 41:20For like, what makes a good friend?
- 41:27Just one characteristic. Good friend.
- 41:29What makes a good a good Muslim friend?
- 41:32Because there's friends, but then there's Muslim friends and
- 41:35I, and I think as Muslims, let's just focus within our own circle
- 41:40because we want gender. I mean, to be fair, I don't.
- 41:42I think one of my friends are Muslim.
- 41:44I don't have Muslim friends. I don't know if it's a good
- 41:46thing or bad thing, but all my friends of Muslim hamdullah.
- 41:49But one thing that I always look for in a good friend is that
- 41:56they understand the value of having a good friend.
- 42:02For example, a lot of people don't understand that having a
- 42:04good friend, a real friend is rare.
- 42:06Like don't tell me like everyone could be a real friend to you
- 42:09know. I mean, like it's a lot of
- 42:11people will show one face after you leave the next face.
- 42:14But even though it's very hard to test, I don't know.
- 42:18Did that look something new? No, this is this is the reality
- 42:21of life, the reality of life, like people can give one energy,
- 42:30one impact, one impression and one smile and one hug and one
- 42:35handshake in front of you and behind you can be something else
- 42:40absolutely different, the complete opposite.
- 42:42And you would never know. You would never know.
- 42:45And but you can always sometimes I think I lost 1 of Attallah has
- 42:51blessed some people that can differentiate and tell between
- 42:56who's who's good and who's not. Also I think like I don't know
- 43:01if you have this feeling but I always have it sometime it got
- 43:04to be your. Heart.
- 43:06Will be like, OK, even from the first mean I was like, OK, this
- 43:09could be everlasting friendship and what's funny is not what's
- 43:13funny. But nanny, some people you would
- 43:16love them straight away some people you hate them straight
- 43:17away. And this will go back again to
- 43:20how the souls can that can recognize one another.
- 43:23Because I know we don't we didn't always live in this
- 43:25thing. Yeah, also was never in the
- 43:27senior. Some of us were in fact friends
- 43:31in other awarding. I remember we had a discussion
- 43:35here which said had the London creep and we were speaking about
- 43:39death and I think life also before this life where there's
- 43:43different walls. And I actually mentioned this
- 43:46point to him. I was like, no, sometimes I feel
- 43:48like when I meet someone, I've met them before somewhere.
- 43:51So I was like Deja vu, like where have I come across you?
- 43:54Or like, why is why do I feel like we can connect from the
- 43:58first moment we we shook hands and says Salaam and I, if I'm
- 44:02not mistaken, I need to go back to the episode, but I think he
- 44:05said that you may have been friends and other island or
- 44:09island. Yeah, so so sometimes, you know,
- 44:14your friends were made way before.
- 44:16And you're lucky to meet them. You know, and now you meet them
- 44:18now Inshallah, also meet them in gender Inshallah by Yemen.
- 44:23You know, when we talk about people who portray one thing in
- 44:29front of you and do something else behind you, I think that
- 44:32leads into sincerity. And I think it's very important.
- 44:37Like when we tell someone I hope you're well.
- 44:43Meaning it, yeah. If your friend tells you pray
- 44:47for me, pray for him, I'll say yeah, yeah.
- 44:51And. Never forget.
- 44:52And never pray for him. So we also need to think as
- 44:57well. Honestly, we need to reflect
- 45:01people. Think good of us.
- 45:02We better be good people say something positive about us.
- 45:07That positive better be true because this is something you
- 45:10are portraying and you don't want to go to on sincerity, you
- 45:13don't want to go to hypocrisy, you don't want to fall under any
- 45:17of that category because that's not a category we should.
- 45:21Be in and I think that the the Imam Assad also said that if you
- 45:26have a, if you've done an action for the sake of policing people,
- 45:29their world will go to the people.
- 45:31But if you do and action for the sake of Allah, their world will
- 45:34come. From Allah so.
- 45:36You need to be very clear with the intention to yourself.
- 45:39Do not lie to yourself because something is very easy that you
- 45:41do that. Like we like to ourselves that
- 45:43I'm doing this. We're sick of Allah.
- 45:44But real and truly deep down, you know that, OK, this, this
- 45:47person is going to like it and this person is going to like it.
- 45:49Then the Thorpe is gone. No, of course, of course, I I
- 45:52think by the way, as a final point from me, I remember I read
- 45:59the story about Mohammed Hassan Ali Salaam where he had a
- 46:02positive impact speaking about good impressions and things,
- 46:06where his impact was mad because he met a man, well a man
- 46:11originally from Surya at that time he and he was someone who
- 46:16was a known Nasabi who hated a Helen bait Ali hum Salaam.
- 46:22He crossed paths with Imam al Hassan and he cursed the Imam
- 46:28and he cursed a little bait in front of Imam al Hassan.
- 46:32Maybe you know the story and Imam Al Hassan response to him
- 46:36and he tells him you know all son of Adam, you may be a
- 46:40stranger in this city. You're in the house.
- 46:42If you need shelter, you know, we'll in the house, we'll give
- 46:45you a home. If you need food, we'll feed you
- 46:47and everything. And the guy was baffled.
- 46:49Because I just, I just insulted you and you're acting and you're
- 46:52acting. Yeah, so he goes to, you know, I
- 46:53just cursed you and I cursed your family and everything, and
- 46:58you're caring and treating me like, you know, where in this
- 47:02day and age is like BFF. So I don't want to say it like
- 47:05that, but that's the level of a clock that little bait had that
- 47:08eventually he became a loyal companion of Imam Al Hassan Ali
- 47:16Hassan. And there's also a similar story
- 47:19with Imam Al Hussain, by the way.
- 47:21But that goes to show like that household that.
- 47:31You can't go wrong. You can't go wrong.
- 47:34If we look up to them, if we read about their lives, their
- 47:37Sierra, the biographies, the impact they had on the society
- 47:42that they lived, how they dealt with Muslims, how they dealt
- 47:45with non-Muslims, how they dealt with their enemies.
- 47:48Imam Ali, we go back to his own killer.
- 47:52How we offer them the cup of water.
- 47:55All of these things like these leave certain impressions.
- 47:59Like even if you think now let's say even Mujim, OK, he didn't
- 48:04become Muslim. Yeah, he's a hypocrite, but we
- 48:08know he didn't become a Muslim. But just that simple act of
- 48:13kindness, of offering your killer the cup of water until
- 48:17today makes me think. How can someone do?
- 48:21That wow. Listen, this is this is also a
- 48:23point to tell the people that listen, I had a bait.
- 48:26Whatever they do is divine. It's divine.
- 48:31I think there's a one time the Prophet Muhammad Ali after a
- 48:34Salah to a Salaam, there's a there's AI don't know the full
- 48:38narration, but it says that Ali wanted to come to the house and
- 48:41then he knocked on the door of the Prophet Muhammad and he
- 48:44said, oh Ali, did you not know that you that my house is your
- 48:47house? He said that one of the manners
- 48:51of that entering the house is by knocking.
- 48:53He said, so doctor Ali, you are right Ali, you love whatever
- 48:57Allah loves. So let's just tell you that
- 48:59every action that they do is for the sake of Allah and it's from
- 49:03Allah Subhana Taala as well. Is is Salaam Allah alayhi.
- 49:08I don't know how people just like ignore their life and
- 49:14sometimes we have Muslims who claim to love the hell bait and
- 49:18love those who hurt them, oppressed them, angered them,
- 49:20killed them, butchered them. And there's so much things I
- 49:23think everyone needs to reflect on.
- 49:24Not just Shia but non-Muslims listening Muslims listening.
- 49:28Who are the hell baits? Who are these, you know,
- 49:31gatekeepers and doors of knowledge and the the ones who
- 49:35take you to Rasul Allah sallallallahu alaihi wasallam,
- 49:38the ones who give you the tafsir and that wheel and the 10 zeal
- 49:41of the Quran. Like bro, look at the hell bait.
- 49:46Just look for albeit. I forget Andrew Tate.
- 49:49Yes please. Who is Andrew Tate when you have
- 49:51the albeit? That's the call of the name.
- 49:53Muhammad Ali Muhammad. Well, Ahlah's sincerity,
- 49:59humility, these are not just ideas, these are just commitment
- 50:03and the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
- 50:05And the albeit has not conquered the heart by the sword, but by
- 50:10the Ahlah and the manners. And today at Hamdulillah, we
- 50:13have we've talked about this and hopefully we covered as many
- 50:16points as we would like to. You have anything else to add?
- 50:20Do I have anything else to add? I would say I've enjoyed this
